-- about my writing --
Tumblr media
I’m currently taking requests / asks for headcanons [ can be either NSFW or just in general or a specific idea ] or fluff/filth Alphabet letters. These are the only requests I plan on taking. If you send me prompts / one shot ideas.. I won’t do them, sorry.
To see what the questions are for the fluff / filth alphabet, see [this post]
[ To my thots anon whomst I love with every cell in my body... Your thots are all going to fall under NSFW headcanons so please.. By all means.. Feel free to send me all the thots you want because I really really really really really enjoy writing them!!! Also, you can find the thots you’ve sent me on my nsfw masterlist, they’re not going anywhere. They were so good I had to add them to a masterlist somehow, I couldn’t resist. At everyone else out there, the same applies to you guys.]
Tumblr media
So.. Here’s the thing.. I’ve decided that I’m going to be taking 3 kinds of requests. Those are as follows: Headcanons { filthy, fluffy or themed specifically at your choosing }, fluffy alphabet and filthy alphabet letters. These are the only kinds of request I answer so don’t send me prompts / one shot requests or ideas unless I specifically say otherwise.
Bearing the above in mind, I have some guidelines.
I’m only accepting headcanons (nsfw / fluff / specific theme &/or reader), fluffy or filthy alphabet letters. If you send me one shot ideas or prompts, I’m going to delete them because I don’t do one-shots.
One character per ask. I don’t care how many asks you send. But I ask that you only send one character per ask because that makes things a lot more simple for me.
You can send up to 4 letters in each ask if you’re asking for either version of the alphabet. Be sure to let me know whether you want filth or fluff or a mix of both. IE, you could send me something like this; character name - a, b {filth} & j v {fluff}. I’m not saying your ask has to look exactly like this but it does need to clearly state which version you’re asking for. The format I just did above was just the easiest way that came to mind for me.
The more precise you are with the headcanon requests you send, the better I can tailor them to you. If you just want an overall NSFW headcanon or overall fluff, that’s totally fine. But if you want a specific scenario ( friends to lovers, date night, weddings, the sky is the limit here) you need to tell me that. The same goes for if you want a specific reader (POC, plus size, sick, shy, virgin, imprint, etc) then I need to know that. It’s like I said.. The more specifics you give me, that’s more I have to work from.
As far as headcanons go, the things I won’t write are rape, incest / huge age gaps between reader / character. I’ll only write abuse if someone is getting their just desserts at the hands of character on readers behalf. Any asks containing rape / incest / huge age gaps are going to be deleted.
All asks must come to my inbox. I don’t take requests through DM or in comments on a post. If it helps, my anon is on, so you can request to your hearts content.
If the ask box is closed, this means I’m currently not taking headcanon or fluff/filth alphabet requests. This will also be noted on my blog bio and possibly a post stating why/for how long. Anything sent in after the ask box is closed will either be gotten to the next go around or it’ll be deleted, depending on the situation.
Tumblr media
First of all... My content is meant strictly for adults. I do write some things that people underage can safely  read, but that is not always the case. I realize that I can’t stop minors from reading my work, but I can tell you outright that I’d rather you skip over it if you’re underage and it clearly states that it’s not written for anyone underage. Again.. I can’t do anything to stop minors from reading my NSFW content beyond just choosing never to post writing on the internet. And I don’t plan on stopping, so.. yeah.
I put warnings on everything. Reading those will definitely save you time and upset. If you keep reading something I’ve written and it upsets you in any way, I’m sorry but I can’t help. I warned you. You chose to take the risk -and most likely, you chose to skip the warning I gave before the post even started... It’s strictly on you now. It’s out of my hands. Any complaints or things of that nature are gonna be laughed at and deleted out of my inbox because I’m not here to argue or censor myself. I’m not your parents, just a peer. If you as a minor choose to look at me, an adult adjacent person, as an authority figure of any sort... First of all, why? Ya’ll.. no.. please don’t. I’m a hot mess, okay? To look at me like any trust worthy authority figure is... A huge error on your own part. Secondly, please don’t. I’m here to enjoy my favorite fandoms / post content for them. I’m not here to please people / censor myself and my content to make everyone else happy... Let me repeat. I put warnings on everything I post. If you keep reading and you read something you’re not supposed to this is now solely your own problem. Sorry, I guess?
I’ve seen other adults saying that they block minors on here. While I’m not gonna do that.. I will not tag minors in my NSFW content knowingly. If I find out you’re a minor and I’m posting something NSFW for a fandom you’ve asked to be tagged in, I will not be tagging you. Sorry. As much as I say I’m not here to parent you and I’m just your peer and you need to think of me like that instead, I’m also not willing to risk anything, either. I’m truly sorry in advance.
While I’m talking about tagging people / my taglist...If you want me to tag you in my writing, you need to be on my taglist. The taglist can be found [ here ] or you can dm / send an ask telling me you want to be added and I will be more than happy to do so. Don’t be afraid to ask me. I don’t mind at all!
Every now and then, I’ll tag my friends in things I write. If I tag you in something and you don’t want me to, let me know. I won’t do it anymore. I’m not here to overwhelm or annoy anyone and I don’t want to come off as pushy, either. SO.. if you’re getting tagged or whatever and you want me to stop tagging you, all you have to do is let me know.
If you’re not on my tag list (or I don’t know you well enough to know whether you’d potentially want to read something) I will not be tagging you. If you’re a minor and I know for sure/think  you are and it’s smut, I will definitely not be tagging you.
Content I’m not willing to write or  you probably won’t find here: Incest and Rape. Those are my hard no’s. Just the thought of writing something like that makes me feel gross. I’m also not going to be writing huge age gaps in romantic stories either. (the closest I’ll come is like.. 18/19 and up to 24...) I mean absolutely no offense against people who can and do write things like this, I just can’t?

I’m gonna be honest here. I post on my own time, at my own pace. Some days I post constantly, sometimes it’s days or even weeks, and occasionally, a month before I post anything. So.. Now ya know.
If I’m not on and posting, odds are I’m busy, taking a break or whatever. But I’ll come back! I always do.
Basically, what I’m saying here is I have no set posting schedule. At all. I post what I want when I’m in the mood to do so. Just something to keep in mind when you’re asking for headcanons / nsfw alphabet letters with characters.

I’m in a standoff with my dad, neither of us saying anything. I hear movement behind me, and I spin to see Jasper walking toward me. “Stay the fuck away from me.” I take a step back, trying to keep my distance from everyone. I know there is no way I am going to be able to outrun anyone. Not in my current condition anyway.
I look at my dad again. “This is one of the men that kidnapped me and tortured me, Dad. Why are you helping him?” I want to cross my arms over my chest, but everything hurts too much.
“He stopped me from getting a huge account. This was going to put Landon Enterprises above Barnes’ and I was going to pay off my debt instead of selling the company.” He tilts his chin in Bucky’s direction. “Your future husband stopped all that when he got wind of what was happening. Mr. Sitwell and Mr. Rumlow have been working for me for some time now.”
“So you’re the one who set this whole thing up? Sent them to take me and torture me?”
“Well, Brock took it a bit far. You weren’t supposed to be so bashed up. I need to be able to sell you off to someone else once James is no longer around.”
I’m baffled at his statement. I don’t even notice when Jasper comes up behind me and wraps his hand in my hair, holding me in place.
“James, you’re being quiet. Anything to add to this conversation?” Richard asks.
“Only a real bottom feeder would use his own daughter for personal gain. When we get out of here, you’re going to rot in a prison cell. I’ll make sure I do everything in my power to make sure to spend the rest of your miserable life there.”
The man behind him cocks his gun and presses it into Bucky’s head. Bucky stands there so calm, but I can’t. “NO!” I yell. Jasper holds my hair a bit tighter and I flinch from the pain in my scalp.
“Y/N, look at me,” he commands.
I look at Bucky, tears staining my cheeks. “He’s not going to kill me yet. He needs me.”
“You’re right, James. I won’t. Not yet anyway; but that doesn’t mean I can’t shoot you at all.”
The man standing behind him pulls the trigger and Bucky goes down to his knees with a grunt. I watch the smoke curling up from the end of the gun and I hear a blood curdling scream before I recognize it as my own. I struggle to free myself from Jasper, but he pulls my head back so I’m looking at the ceiling. He leans in, “Don’t worry he won’t suffer too much. Wish I could say the same thing for you.” My neck hurts from careening it back so far, but I won’t give him the satisfaction. “I’m so glad I learned just how far James will go to protect you. It certainly has come in handy. I don’t think we would have made it this far if it wasn’t for that.”
“Why not wait until after we’re married? I would have a controlling interest in the company. Wouldn’t that work out better for you?”
Good old dad chimes in. “Yes, it would. Unfortunately, we don’t have that kind of time. Alexander Pierce will be here soon and we need the contact signed showing the company will foot the bill. This project is going to bring in millions of dollars.”
“Yes, and endanger the lives of thousands of people.”
“Richard, why enter into this merger and the arranged marriage with George if you were just going to devise a take over? What’s the point?” Bucky asks from his spot of the floor.
“The marriage was arranged before this even fell in my lap. I didn’t have a choice at the time, and then I hoped you wouldn’t find out about it,” he sneered.
“You had to figure we would have been watching everything. It’s a liability to take on a company your size without knowing everything.” Bucky leans forward and grabs his leg, trying to stop it from bleeding. “Are you just going to let me bleed out here? I mean, it would probably be easier to let me die.” The smile Bucky displays isn’t warm and fuzzy, it’s dark and sinister. He’s planning something, but I have no idea what it is.
Richard sighs and shakes his head. “Take him to the back room and tie him down somewhere. Get the bleeding to stop. For the love of God, don’t let him get any blood on any more of the rugs. This one is already going to be a bitch to clean.” My phone starts ringing in my pocket. “Answer it.”
Hey drag Bucky off as Jasper pulls it from my pocket and I can see it’s Steve calling. “Ah, looks like the lap dog is trying to get in touch with them.”
That’s right! Steve is still outside in the car. He’s going to help us get out of this, I just know it. Jasper puts it on speaker. “Hello?” I ask.
“Ah, Ms. Y/L/N. It’s a pleasure to speak with you. My name is Alexander Pierce, and I’ve heard a lot about you from your father.”
“Where’s Steve?” My voice is shaky now.
“Your guard is alive. There are a few things I need from you in order to make sure he lives.”
“You’re going to let me see that he’s alive for myself.” I struggle to get out of Jasper’s grasp and I’m sure I pull a stitch in the process.
“You have no right to make demands.” He walks through the front door, his eyes shimmering in delight.
“Clearly you need me for something and unless I help willingly, you’re not going to get what you want. I want to see Steve, alive. I want to talk to him for a few minutes.”
He smiles as he stops directly in front of me. “You’ve got balls, don’t you, girl?”
I continue my struggle to get free. “I had to learn real fast when daddy dearest arranged my marriage to James. You are not to hurt either Steve or James otherwise you will never get what you want.”
He shrugs, “That’s fine, I don’t actually need either of them, I just need you. James can currently stop this because of the arrangement and the selling of the company at the time of the wedding. That’s in the agreement. Once the papers are signed and everything is legal, the process of selling begins. If you’re no longer in the picture Richard keeps Landon Enterprises for a while longer and we can move forward with the business arrangement. The wedding has already been postponed for a few weeks, we only need a few more to finalize everything.”
“Then why kidnap me and ask he fix it in the first place?”
“We hope there could be some kind of agreement made, but when he attacked Mr. Rumlow and ultimately killed him, we knew we had to change tactics. You’re our goal now. Without you, there is no sale.”
I stand my ground. “Let me talk to Steve.”
He huffs, annoyed that I’m coming back to this request. “Fine. Jasper, take her to see him, but be quick. We have a flight to catch in an hour.”
Flight? My heart pounds in my chest and my legs feel like jello as I march down the hallway of my father’s house. Since I didn’t grow up here, I don’t know my way around. We stop outside a room and he pushes the door open. Steve is tied down to a chair with a gag in his mouth. I try to move toward him and Jasper tightens his grip. “That’s far enough.”
“Steve, it’s going to be alright. Don’t do anything stupid and tell Bucky the same.” He gives me a slow nod of understand. “Bucky has been shot in the leg.” Again, he nods. “Good. I’m really sorry, but she’s going to help.” His eyes widen a fraction, and he understands what I mean.
“What do you mean, she?” Jasper asks.
“Nothing.” I spit at him.
“Who the fuck have you been in contact with?”
Your worst nightmare. “You took my phone, how could I be in contact with anyone?” You better be as good as you say you are, Nat. I need you to get us out of this.
The door slams shut and Jasper is dragging me back into the living room. “I think she might have called someone. Check her phone.”
Alexander holds my phone to my face and it unlocks with ease. He checks recent contact and messages but comes up short. “There’s nothing here since two days ago. Who did you call?”
“No one, clearly.”
He slaps me across the face. The sting burns down my throat and I hold back the tears that want to fall. “Let’s go. The plane to Thailand leaves in an hour, and I’m sure she’ll fetch a pretty penny. Send someone in to take care of James and Steve. I don’t want anything pinned to us. Make it look like an accident.”
I’m dragged out of the house and shoved into a car kicking and screaming. I only stop when they cover my head with a bag and press the cold steel of a gun to my head. When I get out of this, dad is going to pay with his life.

Family Found Part 46: At the Worst
The Secret that’s been keeping Y/N and the Raw roster on edge finally comes to the surface. As threatened, Dean is at risk of losing everything… unless he can fight back one last time.
Warnings/Promises: wrestling violence, reconciliation
Word Count: 3525
Note: Oh my gosh. I keep looking at my series plot list, and it’s a little freaky to see it with so few chapters left. Pretty much everything is already plotted out, and in a perfect world I’d just write it all in a weekend and queue it to go. Probably won’t happen, but eh. Thank you guys for sticking around for this personal test of mine. Please let me know what you’ve thought about this series. DMs and anon are always open. Enjoy!
Part 1: Welcome to the Team
Part 45: Oncoming Storm
Tumblr media
Despite the ruckus he’d caused in your office, Elias was not available for Drew McIntyre to beat up. Because you hadn’t seen him. Nobody had. As a replacement, you placed Bobby Lashley and Dolph Ziggler in his path for a handicap match.
“That’s smart of Y/N,” Renee noted, “McIntyre practically hates Dolph, and Lashley is a strong challenge. Together they should be able to handle his rage.”
Corey wasn’t so agreeable. “Yeah, smart. I think that Y/N gave Elias too many chances; it’s gone to his head! First, he doesn’t fight last week. Then this week he can’t be found?”
“Well someone who will be found tonight will be Brock Lesnar. As Seth Rollins said last week, tonight is the signing of the contract for their WrestleMania match. All three of our competitors will get to face-off tonight.”
Renee harrumphed. “Debatable. No one’s seen him either.”
Each time Lashley or Dolph switched tags, Drew took a second to breathe. To reset. He was wearing the men down, instead of the other way around. If he could keep this up at WrestleMania, then Elias was going to be in trouble.
Just thinking the name summoned a guitar strum. Drew stumbled in his attack as he heard the guitar and saw Elias circle the ring. Elias wasn’t singing, just strumming, but it was enough to distract Drew from a series of coordinated moves. He roared and shifted his focus back. Calmly, Elias watched as Drew took control of the match again, eventually pinning Lashley.
McIntyre’s knuckles paled with his grip on the ropes as he stared down at Elias. It made his blood boil that Elias wasn’t even bothered to react. As the drifter walked away, Drew swore that he was going to regret every note and strum.
***
Lashley and Ziggler weren’t even out of the ring yet when Sami Zayn came out to the ring. He danced his way down the ramp, then took a mic. “How would you all like to see me put my life on the line?” It wasn’t what everyone thought he was going to say, but they welcomed the thought anyway. “Alrighty then.”
With a smart click of his heels, he turned to face the stage. “I’ve got something to get off my chest. Now I’m an NXT grown wrestler myself, and I’ll be the first to admit that moving up to the main roster isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, but when it comes to the ‘Authors of Pain’,” he said with quotation fingers, “I don’t see champions. I see puppets. First Paul Ellering. Then Drake Maverick. And now… Dr. M, whatever that means. So, I’m calling out you, AOP. Not your puppet master. I say that you can’t defend those titles without help. That you are not champions. And that you are cowards that hide behind someone else. That you hide because there are not two strategic brain cells between you-”
He shivered as their music interrupted. But he smiled. Everything was going to plan. They marched to the ring, circling it. They stood on the apron on the opposite side of the ring. Sami’s back was to the stage when the lights went out. When they came back up, Dr. M. was behind him inside the ropes.
“Those are some strong words, Sami,” his voice made Sami whip around. “But I know you meant every word. And I understand. You are a hypocrite. A coward that would never speak your mind out loud without Kevin Owens watching your back.” Slowly, Dr. M turned and faced Kevin Owens, who was just finishing his stealth climb into the ring. Unbothered, he turned back around. “You can lead a man to a hospital, but you can’t force him to medicine. So be it. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have other patients to see to.” Giving a strong eye to Kevin, he left the ring. He snapped and AOP entered the ring, dragging in a referee.
The match that followed was rough. Akam and Rezar did not appreciate Sami’s opinion of them, nor Kevin’s attempt to attack their manager. At the same time, Kevin and Sami were standing by their proof. Without someone telling them what to do, AOP was stalling before attacks. A lucky hit took Kevin to the canvas, where he was pinned. They left celebrating like NXT days, then slipped back into their more serious mood before leaving the arena.
***
Deep in thought, you weren’t watching where you were going. You collided with something hard and tall. Something that turned out to be a someone.
“No, Seth. I can’t talk about this.” You tried to move past him, but Roman stepped in to block your path too.
“We have to talk about something.” Roman let go of your shoulders, give you range to turn back to Seth.
“Whatever they’ve offered you, it’s not worth it. Trust me.” Seth pleaded with his eyes. You avoided looking at them and focused on anything else in the hallway.
“I didn’t do it for the money or the fame. Your story was lesson enough.” Your voice dropped, weary. “That’s not what they’ve got on me.”
Seth titled your chin up. “What are you talking about? Whatever it is, we can help you.”
“No, you can’t.” Why was it so hard to breath? “It’s my fault and I have to do what I can to work around it.” The statement distracted them enough for you to get by, but Roman caught you again.
He leaned down and did his best to look you in the eye. “Y/N?”
No oxygen. No thoughts. Just the words you didn’t want to say. “It’s a contract. I pitched it to Stephanie and Hunter and thought they liked it. But they added things. Things that would rip Dean apart and-“ You broke away from his grasp. “I can’t talk about this. I’ve said too much already. You’re just going to have to let me be.”
They stayed for a minute while you practically ran down the hallway. Blinded by the boil of emotions, you ran into someone else.
“Y/N, we need to talk.” Baron loomed overhead.
“I can’t. I’m busy.” You hissed as his arm flashed out to block your way.
“Make time. I want a match. Tonight. Now would be good.”
You sighed and looked behind you when you heard footsteps. Roman saw Baron and knew why he was there. He gave you a nod, which didn’t exactly please you, but it got both men out of the way so you could think. “Fine. You and Roman have a match tonight. Now.” You stood still while Baron gloated. He dropped his arm with a chuckle, giving you room to finally escape.
***
Both men weren’t going to give an inch. Even as their energy waned, the crowd was enjoying the display of power. Roman fell into the ropes on one side, trying to catch his breath. As he got back up and looked off into the crowd, Dr. M popped up in front of his face. Startled, he fell back into Baron’s next attack. He quickly recovered but was shaken. Dr. M had disappeared. Eerie laughter came from one corner, though nobody was there.
Baron fell to the canvas. Roman geared up for a spear. Dr. M appeared over his shoulder. Roman saw him on the Titantron and spun around to attack. Baron swooped in as Roman missed with a swing, beating him to the canvas and finally winning the pin. Then he got the hell out of the ring. No need to stick around when Dr. M was doing his thing. Dean and Seth ran by him on the ramp. They circled around Roman’s kneeling form.
With his eerie laugh in full force, Dr. M left the ring. He stood at the base of the ramp. And then he was gone.
Seth and Dean helped Roman to his feet and out of the ring. “Don’t worry about me,” he said, shrugging them off. “You guys have enough to worry about tonight. I haven’t seen him, but if Brock does show up, you need to be focused.”
Seth sighed. “I take that to mean you won’t be at the signing?”
“No.”
“Then what will you be doing?” Dean asked. He read the expression on Roman’s face. And disagreed. “Really?”
“I’m going to be watching Y/N’s back. Same way I watch yours.” He tried to walk on his own but limped up the ramp.

Ruby had issued another open challenge. With WrestleMania not even two weeks away, in her eyes, no one was going to be able to take the title from her. She laughed with Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan in the ring while waiting for her opponent. They all froze as “I’m not like most girls,” played through the speakers. Ruby was mostly silent, and she didn’t appreciate her girls’ giggles as they wished her luck.
Their giggles turned to worried hints and tips as Ruby struggled. Nia was taking no prisoners. Several times, the bell box readied to announce a new champion. Each time, Ruby desperately kicked out. The counts got closer and closer to three. Sarah and Liv jumped up onto the apron, ready to spring at a moment’s notice. Nia moved to knock them off. The referee was checking on Ruby, giving the Squad room to attack her without repercussions. Ruby saw her fall and took advantage, retaining her title.
Like a pack of hyenas, the women laughed all the way backstage.
***
Alexa Bliss inched around a corner. She breathed a sigh of relief and proudly took a step forward without looking. She bumped into Ruby, fresh out of her match. “Well hello there, Alexa!” she tried to dart away, but Ruby tossed an arm over her shoulder. “Didn’t Liv and Sarah tell you I was looking for you?”
Alexa gulped. Then disgusted, she removed Ruby’s arm from her shoulder. “Yeah. So?”
“Well, you kept harping on ‘unfinished business’… and I have to agree,” she sighed. “We’re not done. Now I just beat Nia, since you missed it lurking around backstage, and I am still without a match for WrestleMania. And it sucks, but you don’t have one either.” She talked over Alexa’s sputtering. “I know you’re going to be busy hosting, but why don’t we help each other out? I mean, I could always beat you up here and now, or I’ll just destroy you there. But you’ll have a chance. You game?”
As Ruby caught her forearm in a vice-grip, Alexa grimaced and grit her teeth. “What do you have in mind?”
Ruby smiled dangerously. “We have a match next week. Either way, you’re going to WrestleMania. But if I win, I pick the stipulation and you don’t know until the match starts. And if you win… well, I’ll still beat you but at least you’ll have a say in which way. Sound good? Great. See you next week.”
She was off like a shot, leaving Alexa to rub some feeling back into her arm.
***
As the new Raw Women’s tag champions, Bayley and Sasha Banks had a few things to say about the former champions. “They did what they set out to do,” Sasha said. “They brought our new tag titles to the forefront of the business. Last week they had the main event of Raw. They were dominant, beating any team that came their way. And the Riott Squad proved time and time again that the women’s division was something to pay attention to.”
Bayley nodded in agreement. “Having said that, they forgot one little thing. Nothing lasts forever. The women’s division is constantly moving forward. Evolving. Growing stronger and building momentum. Getting better and better. Their time is over. We are the future. We have been through NXT, Smackdown, Raw. The future is now. And it is standing here in this ring.” They held their titles up, then dropped them and fell into a fighting stance.
With their music, Natalya and Rhonda Rousey walked onto the stage. “That may be so,” Natalya said, “but as you said, nothing lasts forever. Prove that you are the so-called best of the business.” She motioned between herself and Rhonda. “You ladies up for a challenge?”
The Boss n’ Hug Connection shared a smile. Sasha nodded. “Sure. Are you?”
During the match that followed, Bayley and Sasha showed off. The high was still real, and they were capable of riding the adrenaline without making too many mistakes. Rhonda and Natalya, on the other hand, were struggling. Both were dominant in the ring. But when it came time to tag or to work together, cracks turned into fissures. One would reach for a tag, and the other would be missing. Then Rhonda was thrown from the ring. It took her eight seconds to wobble back to the ring. At nine seconds, she was reaching for the roes to pull herself up. At ten, she couldn’t get into the ring. Furious, she stepped back, dragging Liv Morgan out from under the ring.
On the other side, Sarah Logan attacked Natalya, knocking her to the ground. The former champions disappeared as quickly as they’d appeared. Thus freed, Natalya and Rhonda met back in the ring while Sasha and Bayley rolled out and watched from the ramp. The two women began to blame one another. Defending themselves truthfully to the Riott Squad’s interference, but neither was listening. The referee pushed them apart before it turned into another brawl. Natalya stomped off, breaking through Sasha and Bayley on her way by.

You focused on not letting your anxiety show. The ring had never felt so large an empty. Or so foreboding. It was time to address the WWE universe. “As you all know, in just thirteen days, WrestleMania will finally be here.” Their response made your cheeks twitch with a small smile. “There are one or two spots that haven’t been filled yet, but we’ve still got two weeks. That brings us to tonight. And to a contract signing.” You took a breath to call Seth and Dean to the ring, but Stephanie McMahon and Triple H’s intros interrupted in turn.
They calmly walked down to the ring. Stephanie carried the leather folder in one arm. She sent you a perturbed smile after stepping through the ropes. “Y/N, I found this in your office and figured you might need it. It’s kinda hard to have a contract signing without the contract.”
“Oops,” you halfheartedly gulped.
Hunter stepped into the ring too. You moved to the other side, using the space like an invisible barricade. “I would like to think otherwise, but it almost looks like you don’t want this match to happen as planned. Don’t you think Dean is mad at you enough?”
“Leave him out of this.”
Speak of the devil, Dean’s music sounded. You closed your eyes. This was a bad dream. Seth followed him out to his own music. And he had questions. “So, I noticed a large absence backstage. Care to explain that, Hunter?” He joined Dean on the far side of the ring, forcing you to stand in the middle.
“That’s right, Seth,” he mocked, “Brock Lesnar isn’t here. How observant of you. No, Brock signed the contract already, as witnessed by Paul Heyman. I’ll be signing as your witness.”
You stammered, “witnessed?”
The explanation was handed off to Stephanie. “Well, given the specifics of this match, we need to make sure that the competitors are willing to endure the consequences. And that they are doing this of their own free will.”
“Consequences? Free will?” Dean shared a look with Seth, then looked at you with a growl. “What is she talking about, Y/N?”
“Go on, Y/N, tell them what this is.” Stephanie waved the leather folder in her hand. Then handed it to you. Hunter stood behind her, daring you to rebel.
You swallowed. Hard.
“It’s a contract. For a triple threat match at WrestleMania for the Universal Championship.” The crowd initially cheered, but it faded into confusion. “You two against Brock Lesnar, and against each other.”
Dean and Seth shared a look. Seth shrugged. “So? This sounds like another one of your great ideas.”
“It was.” If you could keep your breathing even for a few more minutes, maybe you wouldn’t stutter. “When I pitched it to management,” you gestured towards Stephanie and Hunter, “it was a normal match with room for a no disqualification clause. But they… it developed into more. Another clause was added.” You licked your lips desperately.
“Keep going, Y/N. You’re just now getting to the best part.” Hunter stepped closer and patted you on the shoulder to encourage you. It did nothing but make you shiver.
“As the contracts stands, whoever loses the match has to leave WWE. Forever.” The crowd gasped, though Dean and Seth were still confused. “It’s not just whoever gets pinned, which was the original idea. It’s both of the competitors who lose.” The words began to pour out. “This means, Dean, that even if you pin Lesnar, Seth would have to leave too. Or you would if he pins Lesnar. Or both of you. The original plan was to create an opening to finally get rid of the Beast. I thought… I knew between the two of you that you could beat him. I thought…” you turned back to look at the Authority. “I thought I was doing what… what was best for business.”
Stephanie barked out a laugh. “What’s best for business? Brock Lesnar is one of our biggest assets. Why would we ever give you a chance to ruin that for WWE?”
“You guys are wasting your money to pay him to do nothing. Lesnar is not a champion. He may have had the title and the crown, but like an absent king, everybody knows where the real power lies. In the people.” Rage boiled in your veins.  “Dean and Seth are some of the best here. They just don’t grovel at your feet like you’d like them too.” The word hung in the air, freezing over under Hunter’s scrutiny.
Stephanie stepped closer. “No matter how many times you use that argument, Y/N, it’s not going to change anything. Now. Seth. Dean. The contract?”
You jumped as Dean placed his hand on your shoulder.
“It’s okay, Y/N,” he whispered.
“Please,” you shook your head, mic at your side, “don’t do this. It’s a trap. Please, no.” Your shoulders slumped as he kissed the top of your head and took the contract out of your hands.
Hunter smirked as Dean twiddled with the pen. Dean looked back, asking Seth if he was in it too. Seth accepted the pen as his answer, signing after looking at Dean’s signature. You covered your face and rubbed your temples, missing any silent conversation they exchanged. Seth handed the contract back to Hunter to finalize.
“See,” Hunter said, signing blindly, “that wasn’t so hard.” He took Stephanie by the arm and gave you the contract on their way out of the ring. You glanced at the signatures, resigned to hate that you had just-
Wait.
You looked up at Dean, who was smirking. Seth too.
“Mr. Helmsley?” Your voice caught in your throat for a second. “Are you sure you want this contract to go through?” Hunter stared you down as you fought not smiling. “You see…um. You signed the wrong line. You signed as one of the competitors.” A laugh escaped you. This had just gotten interesting. “As this contract states,” you flipped back a page, “any wrestler who competes under this contract and loses must leave the World Wrestling Entertainment company forever. If you beat Seth, who signed in the right place, Brock would have to leave and you…” you shrugged. “The lawyers could read through this and double check how much of this would apply to you, but at the base understanding, you would not be able to wrestle again. No more WrestleMania moments, no more inserting yourself into matches. And, at the worst, you would also have to leave the administration.”
Behind your smile, it felt like your whole being was glowing. You held the folder out to him.
“I may make the matches, but you still outrank me. You can dissolve this contract.”
Hunter snatched the folder away and looked closely at the signature and the clause he added. He pulled it out of the folder, flipping through and scanning for any way out. The crowd was deathly silent as he considered all angles.
They went wild as he tore the contract in half.
“We’re not done, Y/N,” he said, pointing at you.
“I understand, sir.” The threat could not defeat the proud smile on your face. Or the matching ones on Dean and Seth. Dean picked you up and spun you around once they were gone. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to get you into this mess.”
He ruffled your hair, despite your protest. “What else is family for?” He lightly tapped his fist against your cheek. “Can I get a match next week?”
“Against whom and how many?”

I got some Vbros headcanons! /Brock secretly watches cheesy rom coms /Pete likes the older video games nothing new while billy plays anything /rusty had a Barbie doll as a kid that he loved /hanks love of Batman came from all the comics rusty had especially Batman comics / dean writes all his college notes in different color pens for different subjects /Sirena is bi /hank likes musicals and used to watch them with rusty That’s all the ones I can think of at the top of my head sorry its alot
These are some good head canons anon!
Brock secretly watches cheesy rom coms
Knowing Brock he probably treats watching girly rom coms like most treat watching porn, in a completely dark room when he thinks no one is home lol
Pete likes the older video games nothing new while billy plays anything
Billy just likes watching his boyfriend play every game, I feel like Billy would be bad at video games and Pete lovingly makes fun of him and owns him at every game lol.
rusty had a Barbie doll as a kid that he loved
Considering who raised Rusty, I feel like he would have to hide his Barbie doll. I don’t take Jonas as the kind of person who would just accept his son played with dolls and even if he didn’t openly force Rusty to just play with boy things, he would probably make fun of his son for playing with girl toys and probably thinking of it as his only friend.
hanks love of Batman came from all the comics rusty had especially Batman comics
I like the idea of Rusty being a book worm as a kid who would read anything he found. Maybe he even collected comics to keep his mind off the shit team Venture put him through.
dean writes all his college notes in different color pens for different subjects
I love the idea of Dean being this cute! He probably has the cutest hand writing too, all cursive and in different colors.
Sirena is bi
Sirena is bi, I 100% agree.
hank likes musicals and used to watch them with rusty
I personally like the idea that Rusty himself got a taste for musical theater from Col Gentleman.
Gentleman isn’t like super into theater but everyone thought he was one year because he was dating someone into it. I personally head canon most of team Venture just tossed Rusty at him since he had a step daughter for a little while, so hey he must be good with kids. So he just used to take Rusty with him every weekend to the theater.
Not because he particularly liked the show or anything but he was sleeping with one of the actors and just left Rusty with the other actors who were much more enthusiastic about the shows.
Years later Rusty used to sing those songs from the shows he loved to the twins when they were babies to get them to stop crying and maybe one of Hank’s favorite memories is watching one of those shows with Rusty either on tape or live on stage.
Thank you for sending your wonderful head canons!

I just. Can’t finish this. Too many memories attached. Enjoy....
He’s groggy, that much is for sure. Dean is trying to piece what is going on. Everything after the cocoon is a blur. Laying in a cot serving as a makeshift hospital bed. He’s vaguely aware of voices, ones he recognizes but can just barely not make out. The always annoyed and on edge voice of his Pop, arguing with the calm but spunky tones of Billy.
They must be talking about him, considering his breakdown in The Cocoon earlier. They have been happening more often lately, he’s noticed. The pressure of being a Super Scientist is getting to him.  Pop doesn’t seem to notice or really care. Suddenly, they start yelling at each other. They must not know he is not awake. Even Pop has more tact than to talk about him while he is in the same room.
“How do I even know they are even Dean’s?” Pop asks.
“Because you tested them, you jackass!” Billy hisses.
His? Tested? He rubs his eyes furiously, trying to clear the fog in his head. He must have been out for a while. He has no idea what they are talking about. He can hear footsteps. Pop’s trying to leave the conversation, and Billy following because he isn’t done.
Dean tries to get up but falls back on the cot. He hates that he gets so light headed when he gets up sometimes. Dean decides to stay on the cot and gather as much information as he can. Them being a bit closer means he can hear them a little better.
“Doc,” Billy says, reigning himself in, but just barely. “Think about it. Even if they are not his, what’s the harm? He gets a little attached even though they aren’t related to him?”
“It’s not him I’m worried about, Billy,” Pop says, tone softened. “I’m worried about her. How she’ll react to the ....news.”
"Would you like it if somebody hid something like this from you?" Billy asks pointedly.
Pop sighs heavily. Dean can almost see him pinching his brow, trying to come up with a counterpoint. Dean is still lost and hopes they happen to give more information.
"Fine, she can bring them over tomorrow," Pop relents.
"Bring over who?" Dean asks, unable to help himself.
They turn to look at him, guilty expressions on their faces. Pop approaches him first, a painfully fake smile on his face. It's a bit unnerving, honestly. Billy refuses to make eye contact with him, busying himself with a dozen other things instead. Dean props himself up on the backboard. His Pop clasps his hand over his shoulder, probably as a show of support.
"Hey Dean," Pop says. "You can go back to your room now."
"And," Billy adds. "You have some special visitors tomorrow."
"Okay," he answers.
Dean tried to get more information while Billy was doing his last minute check up on him, but he was tight-lipped about it all. HELPeR wheeled in, chirping happily as he guides him back to his room. He lays in his bed, patting his plush giraffe in greeting. It's been a long three days and he is grateful to see his beloved Mr. Reachy again.
He hears the other bed open, revealing his slightly older brother Hank waking from an impromptu nap. After making sure Dean was all right, he started talking about everything he did while Dean was trapped. Dean doesn't mind Hank regaling him with clearly fake stories about his adventures on The Cocoon. Like Brock would fall for that Guyovitch shtick of Hank's or that any henchman of the Monarch could be a bigger nerd then him. It gave him time to ponder who Billy is talking about. He hopes it's their mommy. He never met her and Pop never talks about her. But Billy said they were for him, not him AND Hank. The mystery only deepens.
Next day turned into next week. Uncle Henry appearing and disappearing, Billy attacking Brock, the new archenemy of his Pop, it just kind of got pushed to the back until the day before his Pop's day camp thing. He was promised after their latest adventure, his guests would be staying the night. Their latest adventure being getting the lawn nice and tidy for tomorrow. With Brock's help, the hapless duo got the lawn in ship shape order. Hank was sulking the entire time, not even making a single garden tool joke. He must have been feeling left out because of the attention being lavished onto Dean. Dean said he could meet them too, causing Hank to roll his eyes and sulk even harder.
Finally, after washing up as Pop ordered them, they head to their shared bedroom. Pop said that is where they will be, a “nice neutral area in his opinion.” Dean knows that Hank is just as curious as he is. Dean didn't pay too much mind to the concerned looks from Mr. Billy and White as he went to his bedroom. “They are just being themselves,” as Pop would say dismissively.
Dean gets the honor of opening the door and sees a small pink haired girl with soft cat ears sitting on his bed. She appears to be cradling a wicker basket close. Dean tilts his head, confused. Not at the person in the room. He knows she is Roxanne, adopted daughter of Billy and White and the only real friend either of them has ever had. And it's not that she isn't special or anything. It's just that he doesn't think she counts as a special visitor. Certainly not special visitors, that is for sure.
Of course, now that he thinks about it, he hasn't seen her in nearly a year. He just sort of figured she must have been really busy with real school like Triana. Recently, he's seen her around a bit more. While trying to puzzle out the mystery at hand, a whimpering cry catches his attention. Before he can fully process what is happening, Hank lunges forward, exclaiming in glee. He can see a pair of pointed ears poke out of the basket filled with blankets. She picks up a small pink bundle as Hank grabs the other bundle.
"I didn't know they were kittens," Hank says, holding a wriggly bundle of brown. "I want one. Can I have one Roxx? Please? I'll take good care of him.”
"Well, if they were kittens, I would love to give you one," Roxx says slowly. "But they aren't."
"Then, what are they?" Hank asks, holding the bundle up. "This one has a tail. Like a kitty would."
"They're my babies," Roxx says, looking down, clearly shy all of a sudden. "And, the one you are holding? Her name is Rosalyn. This little girl is Amber."
She reveals a small definitely more human looking child in the bundle she was holding. Hank sits down next to her, laying the brown themed baby on his lap. The small baby kicks up at Hank's hand, much to his delight. Dean approaches and sits on her other side, looking at the small pink and cream tinted child Rox is holding. The child wriggles and buries her face into Rox's chest. Dean blushes as he realizes what the child is trying to do.
Dean can't ignore the elephant in the room. He knows that Roxx is not a Super Scientist or some kind of reptile that can reproduce asexually. Babies always have a mom and a dad. And if Roxanne is the mom, where is the dad?
"Uh Roxanne," Dean says, catching her attention. "Who is the dad?"
Roxanne's cheeks turn crimson. She fiddles with the baby in her arms for a moment, dodging his question for some reason. She settles the child for now before answering him.
"It's you, Dean," Roxanne says. "I know you travel all over the world all the time and probably don't remember or anything."
Looking at the small girl in her arms, he feels his heart beating faster as he moves a lock of hair away from the soft baby in her arms. He sees a familiar triangle of freckles on her cheeks. Heart in his throat, he hears the one with Hank squawk. Looking over, he sees hazel green eyes greet him, a slight pout on her face. Her eyes are just like his. His brain grinds to a halt as he realizes what this means.
"Hey, that means I'm an uncle!" Hank crows.
If Dean wasn't already sitting down, he would have fallen to the ground. The small pouty baby manages to escape Hank's grasp and gets into Roxxy's lap. He picks up the baby, keeping her from falling off the bed. She stays put in his lap, fascinated by his belt buckle. Hank leaves, remembering some random thing he forgot somewhere else. Dean is trying to process the news that has been put in his lap. Literally, in the case of the small kitten staring at his belt buckle. He doesn't know how to feel, at all.
Roxx would never lie to him about something so big. But how? He has never done...that with anyone. And yet, here is proof otherwise. Staring at his belt buckle with large eyes just like his. He pets her downy hair, not sure what else he can do. He hears the one, Amber right, fussing in Roxanne's arms. He looks over, still a bit numb with shock.
"She's hungry," he says, not sure how he knows just that he does.
"Uh, yeah," Rox says, blushing even more. "Could I maybe have some privacy so I can feed her? You can introduce Rosalyn to your pop and Brock?"
It's Dean's turn to blush now. He knows what she is getting at. He manages to get Rosalyn settled into his arms and heads into the kitchen with the squirmy baby. He opens the swinging door and White and Billy turn like prairie dogs. He walks in, trying to be casual about the child in his arms. They make an excuse to leave him alone with Brock and Hank. It seems that Pop is in the lab for "important" things. Something he is grateful for immensely.
He focused on Rosalyn, making sure to stay extra focused to prevent THAT from happening right now. He could see Hank was brimming with questions now and Brock was. Brock was Brock. He shot the occasional glance over but was overall not paying much mind to the baby in his lap. His baby. That he made with Roxanne. That he doesn’t remember or know how. Brow furrowed, he was giving it some serious thought when he realized that Hank was trying to get his attention.
He gets the child situated back on his lap as well as he can. She has her chin laying on the table and she seems content to sit where she is. Long as he keeps scratching her ears anyway. She leans into his touch and makes an intermittent purring like noise. The shock is starting to wear off. That or he's slipping into another break. Hopefully not. He doesn't want to hurt Rosalyn if that happens. He doesn't know what happens when he blacks out, just that he never wakes in the same place. His Pop acts like it never happens, but Dean knows better.
He looked up at his brother and Hank was bouncing in his chair. Blue eyes kept darting towards the small baby now laying in his lap, asleep. His hand was still petting her, only now the back of her head instead. He stopped for a moment, she made a soft noise so he continued. Hank was still giving him that look.
“What is it, Hank?” he asked.
“You never told me you and Roxx,” Hank said. “You know.”
“I don’t,” Dean said, bewildered.
“Didn’t pop tell you about,” Hank lowered his voice. “About the birds and the bees?”
“I guess, but it kind of turned into something about White Lion,” Dean admitted. “I still don’t know how babies are made.”
Brock looked at him, and there was a definite tenseness in his expression. He got up silently, a faint growl heard as he left. Hank and Dean looked at each other, confused at what is happening. Hank sat closer, eying the child curiously. Dean showed Hank the spot behind her ear that she liked scratched. Hank was enraptured when she leaned her head into his touch, still purring while asleep.
A loud door slam catches them off guard. Then they can hear Brock’s voice. Even with the countless layers of walls between the kitchen and the lab. Dean covered the infant’s ears, hearing Brock screaming at their pop. He and Hank share a scared look when the yelling stops. Brock came back in, eyes still full of rage. Behind him was Pop, looking like a whipped dog. Brock crossed his arms and leaned against the door frame, eyes focused on Pop.
“Hey boys,” Pop started. “I’ve been meaning to give you. The Talk. I was going to wait until later but. Certain things came up.”
Pop cast a wary eye at Rosalyn between Hank and him and Dean felt a protectiveness bloom in his chest. He settled the child against his chest and wrapped his thin arms around her. She nuzzled into his sweater vest and he held her just a little tighter.
Pop took a seat across from him and Hank and took his glasses off, rubbing them clean before placing them back on his face. This was clearly not an easy conversation for him. He kept looking over at Brock nervously. Listening to Pop explain sex and babies and proper protection, Dean felt embarrassment coloring his neck and ears and face red. Thinking about how he did that with Roxanne, he felt his heart start to race. He must have, there is proof of that right in his lap, purring away.
The light oddly almost floating feeling was coming back. He looked over at Hank. He could see his lips moving but he didn’t hear anything he was saying. Oh no. It was happening again. He thrust Rosalyn at Hank and stood up. Dizziness turning his vision hazy, the last thing he saw before he hit the floor was a very confused Hank holding Rosalyn, small hazel eyes meeting his before everything went dark.
He woke up on the couch, eyes slowly coming back into focus. It was late, the windows showing the darkened lawn. He carefully sat up and looked around. It was too dark to see much but he couldn’t see anybody around.  Blanket around him, he pushed it out of his way. Wrapping his arms around himself, everything catching up to him and he started to cry. Pop always scolded him when he caught him crying so he got really good at crying super quietly. He started as he heard a noise.
Looking, he saw the mound of a few old sleeping bags assembled on the floor. He saw cat eyes looking at him and realized it was Roxanne. She was looking at him, a most curious look on her face. He rubbed his hand across his face, trying to hide what he was doing. Nearby was a playpen of some kind, two little shapes sleeping inside it.
She sat up from her sleeping spot and got up on the couch with him. He tried to hide his face but she turned his face towards her. She brushed off the tears from his face. Not judging him or any looks of disappointment or anything. She just sat with him and let him compose himself. It took a bit of time but he appreciated it.
“Did you have a nightmare?” she asked.
“Not really,” he answered. “Just. It’s a lot to take in at once, you know?”
“Yeah,” she replied. “It. Was hard when I found out.”
“How did you,” he paused. “Find out?”
Roxanne shrugged as she looked away from him. He must have said something wrong and he was about to try and take it back when she started to talk.
“I was sick, throwing up every day,” she said. “At first, Dad thought it was just a stomach bug. But then. A few days turned into a few weeks and. Dad bought the test. He didn’t tell Father until. It came up positive. Father said it wasn’t accurate because I was half cat. He took me to a hospital, one that didn’t ask questions about him being there. The ultrasound showed that. I was carrying twins. He printed off some pictures. I saved them in a scrapbook. If you want, I can bring it over. Next time.”
“I would like that,” he said.
He knew he must have missed a whole bunch with the babies. He was kind of excited thinking about the scrapbook. He always wanted to be a dad. He kind of hoped he would have been a lot older and married and been with his wife for a bit and talked about it and stuff. But his life was always full of unexpected surprises.

Rusty Venture’s Timeline (SPOILERS!)
This is an updated list of Rusty’s life and timeline up to the beginning point of the show starting. The new dates we’ve been given from Season 7 and the new art book are added here but some dates are conflicting with others due to the nature of the information we’ve been given. Beware of spoilers, obviously, if you haven’t watched recent episodes or read the book yet!
Rusty is born (Probably 1964)
Jonas Sr. at some point sleeps with Mz. Quymn and she has a daughter, Tara Quymn.
As a child, Rusty was kidnapped a lot for ransom and Jonas Sr. and Team Venture have to come and save him. So much so that Jonas Venture Sr puts a tracking device in one of his molars, unbeknownst to Rusty. We know that he did not start accompanying his father and Team Venture on adventures until he was 3 years old (1967) (Now Museum Now You Don’t, Past Tense)
Jonas Sr. at some point sleeps with The Blue Morpho's wife who is The Monarch's mother. (1967) (Arrears In Science)
The Monarch is born (1967) (Arrears In Science)
Rusty is shipwrecked on an island and went to Spanakopita for the first time (Spanakopita!) Set sometime during Jackie Onassis’ wedding, around Oct 20, 1968. Age 4
At some point Rusty meets Hector Molina and they become good friends. Hector even comes to live with them for a bit(?) (Self Medication)
At some point, The Monarch and Rusty meet each other as children (S.P.H.I.N.X. Rising) We know this occurs after the statue was built and placed on the compound’s front lawn and prior to The Monarch’s father and mother dying in a plane crash since they were present at the time. This puts their rough ages as Rusty at probably 7 and The Monarch at 4.
When Rusty was 8 years old, the Action Man played a prank on him by throwing a fake grenade at him. When his dog, Scamp 3, ran over to it, Rusty panicked and threw himself on top of it to save his dog’s life, and in turn became injured by it piercing his kidney. He had at this point, lost two previous pet “Scamps”, which he chose to continue to name the same way each time. The original Scamp was sent into space by Jonas years before. 1972
Jonas Sr. begins having multiple “key” parties at the compound and Rusty and Tara spend a lot of time together when he is age 10 (1974) before something separates them for more than 20 years. (Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman)
Unknown date - Rusty spends many nights awakened by the Action Man holding an empty gun to his head.
When Rusty was ten years old, he wrote a letter to The Herculoids, calling them hippies for not fighting in Vietnam. (Twenty Years To Midnight) 1974
Also sometime around the age of 10, Jonas is building Gargantua I and Rusty is seen in filmstrips helping him. (Careers In Science) 1974
The Monarch’s father, The Blue Morpho, died in a plane crash when he was 8 years old (1976) just a few months out from his September birthday, when he would turn 9 (Arrears In Science)
Jonas rescues The Blue Morpho from the plane crash site and turns him into Venturion (September 30th, 1976) (Arrears In Science)
June 23, 1977 (at age 11) Rusty is attacked by the Bicentennial Man/Venturion, the robot Jonas has been working on as a product of Venture Industries, who tries to kill him by choking him to death. Rusty begins having many recurring nightmares about this event. Venturion is destroyed by Kano, then later stolen by Dr. Z. He then went off the grid for a year, and returned as Vendata later on in 1977. (Bot Seeks Bot, Arrears In Science)
Rusty has a prom at the Venture Compound, graduates from his learning bed and then goes to college all at age 17. (1982) He remained at college for an unknown number of years until learning of the news that Jonas Sr died on Gargantua I on April 9th, 1987. (Now Museum Now You Don’t, Past Tense, Arrears In Science)
The day that his father, Jonas Sr., dies Rusty immediately leaves college (drops out) and heads back to Spanakopita for the first time since he was a kid (about 20 years later). Jonas dies on Gargantua I on April 9th, 1987 so Rusty dropped out of college in 1987. (Arrears In Science) Rusty goes back to Spanakopita every year around the same time and brags he hasn’t missed a Spanakopita in “20 years”. (Past Tense, Spanakopita!) Rusty is complaining that his roommate is a freshman so he has to be at least a year above freshman year. Rusty says that he went to State University “in the 80′s”, (Pomp and Circuitry) Rusty says he had been friends with Mike for more than a year. He also mentions Mike was obsessed with Coco from Fame the year before, meaning that they can’t have attended college prior to 1980. Rusty is most likely referring to the T.V. show and not the movie Fame so this places them in their freshman year between 1982 to 1983. We also know that Rusty was < 24 in college due to his statement indicating that he didn’t have sex in college, until after he left college. (Past Tense)
The Monarch, having attended college at the same time as Rusty and Brock, most likely begins his life long arching due to some incident happening in college which Rusty does not or can not remember. He tries to blow Rusty up with a bomb while he is in the science lab but ends up only succeeding in blowing off his lab partner Underbeit’s jaw. Underbeit still blames Rusty to this day due to the fact that Rusty had skipped class that day due to his father’s death and his leaving college. April 9th, 1987 (The Invisible Hand of Fate, Arrears In Science)
Rusty then takes over Venture Industries as the sole heir 1987. He inherited his father’s fortune and went to Little Italy in New York to purchase a very expensive speedsuit, “THE AMBASCIATORE”, from Ezio. He never went back for it once it was completed, until after he inherited J.J.’s fortune about 20 years later. (Hostile Makeover) This is most likely due to his having to return to State University once flush with his inheritance and pay for the damages to the science wing. Finding that he has run out of most of the money already, he therefore couldn’t return to pay for and pick up the speedsuit from Ezio, instead returning home to try to be a super scientist and make money.
Rusty gets a bodyguard assigned to him by the O.S.I., Myra. This may be simply due to The Monarch’s constant threats and attacks. (The Invisible Hand of Fate, Shadowman 9: In the Cradle of Destiny, I Know Why The Caged Bird Kills)
The Monarch begins routinely attacking Rusty now that they are out of college but this appears to be a solo act of his and his alone. His hostility seems to have only grown since college since whatever happened between them happened in college. Myra is always there however thwarting his attacks. (The Invisible Hand Of Fate)
Rusty loses his virginity at age 24 presumably with the boy’s true mother (not Myra) as Rusty uses condoms when he has sex but not back then. (Past Tense, Powerless In The Face Of Death) Probably in 1988
The boys are born sometime afterward by some unnamed mother, who is not Myra.
Rusty later has sex with his bodyguard, Myra (I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings)
Myra gets arrested eventually when the boys are only about a year old and still in diapers and she gets taken away by the O.S.I. Brock becomes their bodyguard, assigned as a punishment by the O.S.I. (The Invisible Hand of Fate) Rusty meets Billy Quizboy Whalen when he is 16 years old. (1989)This is the first time, having been introduced by Pete White, his former college friend. Billy goes on to know him for the next 20+ years, maintaining a close friendship. (Are You There God? It’s Me Dean)
Brock becomes Rusty and the boys’ bodyguard in the late 80's. (The Invisible Hand of Fate, Go Team Venture Art Book)
Unknown - Rusty shows Brock the clones that he has made of his sons (Perchance To Dean, Go Team Venture Art Book). They are still babies at this point and alive and well as Rusty tells him it takes pressure off of Brock having to bodyguard them. He shows him because, as Rusty tells him, he is going to be his new bodyguard so we can assume it was probably the day Brock started. Their hairstyles and clothing indicate late 1980′s
About a year(?) later Rusty either dates or just sleeps with Nikki Fictel and she has Dermott (Everybody Comes to Hank’s) so we know the boys are older than Dermott technically if not for all their deaths and rebirths and that Brock was already the Venture’s bodyguard during the time that Rusty is sleeping with Nikki (Perchance to Dean). Dermott is now however the exact same age as Hank and Dean (due to their constant dying and rebirths). We learn from the special that Dermott is seventeen, the same age as Hank and Dean (From The Ladle To The Grave).
Sheila tells The Monarch that they have been arching Rusty since “Marky Mark had a funky bunch”, so for a very long time. This would mean they started arching together around 1991. The Monarch had already been arching Rusty alone secretly for a long time.
Gary tells Sergeant Hatred that he has been storming the Venture Compound since the 90′s. If Gary was kidnapped by The Monarch and his henchmen when he was 15 (Home Insecurity) we can assume that The Monarch along with Dr. Mrs. The Monarch and their various henchmen have been arching Rusty at the compound since 1991. (Operation P.R.O.M.)
Unknown - Rusty develops an addiction to using amphetamines/”diet pills” on a routine basis which quickly becomes a problem leading Brock to be the one to watch the boys/be the responsible one more often than not.
Then a lot of time passes and the boys die a lot through various circumstances, the boys die at least 13 times (Powerless in the Face of Death). Brock mentions that Myra had hurt the boys at one point in the past so it is possible that she was responsible for their initial deaths. (I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings)
We then we open with the pilot episode of The Venture Bros (The Terrible Secret of Turtle Bay)
I’ve completed this with a bit of speculation on my part for the times plus info pulled from this handy dandy timeline from The Venture Bros Wiki. A lot of info has been pulled from the wonderful @21derful who has been instrumental in nailing down years and dates for this ever present work in progress.
Any comments, suggestions, edits to the dates or other info is welcome! Please help to add on!

The Unexpected
Summary: Dean heads over to his neighbor’s apartment to hang out until his one-night stand leaves, as he usually does. But he’s in for a surprise when instead of a normal quiet morning with his quiet, calm neighbor, her apartment is teeming with people and life and the kind of life he never imagined she’d be a part of

A/N: So... this was supposed to be a normal fic where Dean hides out from his one-night stands, but it kinda morphed into a sitcom-feeling fic. It’s different from what I normally write, so I hope y’all like it! Let me know!
Version En Español: Lo Inesperado
Better safe than sorry, Dean thought as he slipped on some sweatpants and a grey Henley. With one last glance at the sleeping woman in his bed, he closed his bedroom door and walked through his apartment to his front door. His keys somehow made it in the bowl by the door the previous night. Strange, considering he didn’t know where the rest of his clothing from yesterday went.
Well, Dean grabbed the keys and quietly slipped into the hallway. At least I don’t have to search for the keys and risk Becca? Janelle? Theresa? Whatever her name is waking up when I’m still here.
That hadn’t been a fun morning a few weeks ago. Whoever she was, she did NOT want to leave. He didn’t get that clingy vibe from his latest fuck, but he didn’t want to risk it.
Flipping through his keys, he found the one with green nail polish painted on and slipped it into the doorknob of the apartment across the hall. It was only seven o’ clock. Y/N was probably still asleep. After all, she rarely got home before three in the morning. Dean had no idea what she did all night on the weekends, but whatever it was, she was always exhausted.
One of these days he would get her to talk about herself. For a neighbor who seemed perfectly fine with someone hanging out in their apartment until his never-ending string of women left his apartment for their walk of shame, Y/N was surprisingly closed off about herself. It had been over three months of him spending nearly every Saturday morning in her apartment, and he barely knew anything about her. Hell, he didn’t even know where she worked.
Maybe today he could coax a few details out of her after he made breakfast. Some bacon and some—shit. He left the bacon at his apartment. Dean opened the front door and walked into her familiar entryway. He wasn’t about to go back to his place.
Something was off… something wasn’t right… Dean paused right inside and sniffed the air.
“Bacon?” He mumbled. Not only was Y/N awake, but she was cooking? One thing he knew about her was that she couldn’t cook to save her life.
“Brock, get your lazy ass up!” Y/N’s loud shout was followed by a loud thump and her laughter. “Dude, your mom is going to be here in, like, an hour. And you smell like a strip club.”
“Fuck off, Y/N,” a male voice grumbled. Hearing anyone talk to Y/N like that made Dean bristle, but she just laughed it off.
What the hell? Dean headed further into the apartment, but stopped cold when he saw another man standing at the stove, wearing an apron, flipping bacon. That wasn’t Brock, was it?
“I’m getting a glass of cold water, Brock,” the man in front of Dean called out, not making a move to back up his threat. “It’s either that or an actual nice, warm shower.”
“Fuck off, Dylan!” Brock yelled, sounding slightly more awake.
Dylan, Dean presumed, turned around to grab something, but froze at the sight of Dean. “Who are you?”
“I’m, uh, I’m—who are you?” And why are you in Y/N’s kitchen at seven in the morning on Saturday?
“Hey, Y/N?” Dylan called out, watching Dean carefully. “There’s a dude in your kitchen.”
“I’ve told you a million times, Dyl. You’re just looking in the mirror. That man is just—oh, hey Dean.” At the sight of her easy acceptance of the newcomer, Dylan relaxed and continued with his mission, grabbing a plate with the practiced ease of someone who definitely knew his way around Y/N’s kitchen.
“Dean, huh?” Dylan asked casually. “You make it a habit of walking into random women’s apartments in the morning, Dean?”
“He lives across the hall,” Y/N explained, and Dean finally looked over at her, only to see her watching him with a slightly amused smile playing around her lips. “Dean doesn’t like dealing with the morning after shit with his one-nights. So he hides out here and I usually get breakfast out of the deal. You’re off the hook today, Dee.”
“Uh huh. And Dylan and Brock are…”
“Friends.”
Dean didn’t miss the raised eyebrow Dylan threw Y/N at her short explanation. Nor did he miss the way she shook your head in answer to Dylan’s look. Whoever these men were, Y/N knew them well.
“Friends,” Dean repeated, knowing that everyone could pick up on the doubt in his voice.
“Yup. And speaking of Brock,” Y/N turned your head back towards the bedrooms and yelled out, “I’m not entertaining your mom while you get ready, dude. Get the hell moving.”
“Fuck off, Y/N,” Brock said at the same time Y/N and Dylan mimicked his words. Apparently that was Brock’s catchphrase.
Y/N shifted her weight until she was facing Dean. “Sorry about them. We had a late night and my place was closest, so they all crashed here.”
Dean was about to ask what everyone was doing so late, but Dylan spoke up first, beating him to the punch. “Speaking of crashing here, where did Logan and Bethany go?”
“Probably on a run, those crazy kids.”
“Fuck!” Brock’s voice echoed through the apartment. “My mom’s coming today!”
With an eye roll, Y/N grabbed a piece of bacon from the plate Dylan just made up and headed towards the bedrooms. “Here, Brocky. Have some bacon then go shower.”
“No, you don’t get it. She’s coming today.”
“Yeah. In an hour. So go shower.”
“Y/N.”
“Brock.”
“I haven’t told her about us yet.”
Dylan dropped the spatula he was holding and started laughing so hard he nearly fell over. Whatever the hell was going on, Dean was completely out of the loop.
“What the hell, Brock!” Now it was Y/N’s voice echoing down the tiled hallway. “We broke up two years ago! How have you not told her yet? And don’t say the topic never came up. I know she asks about me whenever you call. She loves me.”
“Yeah, that’s the problem. If I told her we broke up, she would be heartbroken. I couldn’t do that to her right after… then she was diagnosed and… It just never really was the right time.”
There was silence for a good minute. Dean had learned more about his mysterious neighbor in the last five minutes than the entire half a year he’d known her. He was slightly overwhelmed, but he wanted to know more. What kind of silent conversation was she having with Brock? Why was her ex sleeping at her place, and who was the guy cooking in her kitchen?
The front door opened again, and two more people came in, sweaty and dressed to exercise. This must be Bethany and Logan, the other people who crashed here and went for a run. They noted his presence, but didn’t appear concerned in the least.
Bethany nodded her blonde head towards Dean. “Hey Dyl, who’s this?”
“Beth, Loge, meet Dean. Y/N’s across-the-hall-neighbor who hides from his one-night stands over here. Oh, and Brock never told his mom that he and Y/N broke up.”
That news overshadowed Dean’s presence. Both heads jerked towards Dylan in disbelief. “Seriously? It’s been two years.”
Before Dylan could respond, Y/N and Brock’s conversation turned verbal again.
“No!” She exclaimed. “Dude, I can’t lie to your mom.”
“C’mon, Y/N/N! She doesn’t have that long and you know she will just be so heartbroken.”
More silence. All four people in the kitchen seemed to lean towards the hallway, straining to hear any more of the conversation.
“Go shower, Brock,” Y/N said softly, voice barely carrying through the apartment. “I’ll think about it. I hate the idea of lying to your mom though.”
Y/N walked into the kitchen, rubbing the bridge of her nose as if warding off a headache. “That man is going to be the death of me, I swear.”
“He wants you to pretend to still be dating him so he doesn’t disappoint Reyna, right?” Bethany asked. Y/N nodded and sank down on a bar stool. Logan pushed a plate full of bacon towards her and she took a big bite. Bethany sat next to Y/N and stole a piece of bacon for herself.
“Well, you kind of have to. I mean, it’s not like you can drop this bomb on her now. What would you even say? Hey Reyna, your son is awesome, and I’m awesome, but we decided that we’re just not awesome together. You know, we decided that two years ago, but he never told you because he thought you were too fragile? You can’t say that.”
Y/N groaned loudly.
“I heard that groan!” Brock shouted from the bathroom. “Fake dating me is gonna be fun Y/N!”
“Fuck off, Brock!” She shouted right back.
Bethany finished off her bacon and stood up, grabbing a bag that was on the floor near the couch in the living room. “Since Brock stole your shower, I think I’m gonna head over and use your shower, Dean. That okay?”
“Uh, no?” Logan said before Dean could answer. “I called first shower dibs. I get to use Dean’s shower.”
“What about…” Dean blanked on his one night stand’s name.
Y/N lifted her head from the counter and shot Dean a knowing smile. “Stephanie. You slept with Stephanie last night. She’s cool. She’s actually coming over for breakfast right now.”
What the fuck? How much stranger could this morning get? “How do you know who I slept with?” And why did you invite the person I’m hiding from over for breakfast?
“She texted me. Said she woke up in an apartment that looked a lot like mine, and that her living dildo ditched her. I connected the dots.”
“Living dildo?”
A twinkle sparked in Y/N’s eyes and she stood up, steering Dean further away from the kitchen and into the living room where they could have a bit more privacy. “Yeah. She’s not gonna get all clingy. I promise. You were just as much a fun fuck to her as I’m sure she was to you.” Y/N glanced back at the kitchen. “Sorry about… them.”
Dean looked up from Y/N’s face just in time to see Bethany and Logan wrestle for the door before Logan victoriously shut the door in Bethany’s face, leaving her still in Y/N’s apartment. Well, it seemed that Dean’s shower was going to be put to good use.
“They’re… interesting. Y’all are really just friends?”
Y/N shrugged. “Yeah. Mostly. I guess we’re more like family at this point, though.”
Leaning against the wall, Dean eyed his neighbor openly. “You don’t say much about yourself.”
“Well, I have a feeling you’re going to learn a hell of a lot in the next little bit. If you want to be able to leave at all today, I suggest you get out now. As soon as Brock’s mom comes in, she won’t let anyone leave. She will suck you into her vortex of adventure and insist that you come along today. So, really, if you have any plans at all today, you should—”
“Look who was loitering out in the hallway!” Logan announced, coming back into the apartment. He was pushing a woman in a wheelchair and grinning widely. “Think I should call the police? Loitering is a crime, after all.”
“Sweetie, if you do call the cops, make sure to request the cute ones,” the lady said in a southern accent. “If anyone’s gonna be putting this old woman in handcuffs, they’d better be downright gorgeous. Oh! Just like that piece of eye candy over there! Y/N, is that your new man?”
“My… what now?”
The lady, Reyna, Dean guessed, started laughing. She waved behind her and a second woman stepped forward, taking Reyna’s hand. “Clarice, I told you Brock thinks I still don’t know they broke up. Y/N, sweetie, come over here. Let me see you. You always were too good for my son.”
“Fuck off, mom!” Brock shouted, walking into the room with damp hair. Everyone chuckled at his entrance. “How long have you known?”
“My body might be dying, boy, but I’ve still got all the right parts firing in my brain. Y’all stopped posting pictures of just the two of you. All that I saw online was pictures of your whole band. I figured something was up then. Wondered if you’d ever man up and tell me yourself.”
The front door opened yet again, and in walked the woman Dean slept with the night before. Stephanie, according to Y/N.
Stephanie looked around the room, taking everything in for a moment before her eyes landed on Dean and her lips curled up in a grin. “Hey lover. Your shower is amazing.”
Logan and Bethany made eye contact for a brief second before both of them sprinted for the door. Bethany won this time, leaving Logan inside, banging on the door. “I’m telling mom you’re being mean to me!”
“Cry baby!” Came her call back before Dean heard the unmistakable sound of his front door slamming shut.
“Whatever, I’ll just use Y/N’s shower since Brock is out,” Logan mumbled. He stooped to give Reyna a quick kiss on the cheek. “Don’t tell too many jokes before I get back.”
“And I need to finish getting ready,” Y/N announced. She grabbed Reyna’s hand and squeezed it before standing up and heading over to Dean. “You’re welcome to stay. Or you’re welcome to go.”
His eyes shot around the room and counted everyone. Considering he’d only ever seen Y/N in her apartment, it was strange, to say the least, to see seven other people circulating in and out of the place. “I, uh…”
“Here, c’mon.” Y/N grabbed his wrist and pulled him down the hallway towards the bedrooms. Dean hadn’t ever been further than her kitchen, and he soaked up every detail he could. The dark and slightly disturbing artwork on one side of the hallway, whereas bright colors splashed on canvases on the other. A peek into one of her extra rooms showed blankets, air mattresses, and a futon strewn across the floor. The third bedroom was closed, but the door looked different than the others. Sturdier. That definitely piqued Dean’s interest.
Then he was following her into the master bedroom, though it wasn’t really a bedroom.
Sure, there was a bed and a chest of drawers, but that was about it for normal bedroom things. A keyboard was set against one wall, two guitars and a banjo were set in stands beside it, and a single snare drum was chilling in the corner.
“Did I hear Reyna say something about a band?” Dean finally put some pieces together.
“Mm-hmm.” Y/N shut the door and headed over to the chest of drawers. A mirror was leaning against the wall, and she sat down and pulled out some makeup.
“You’re in a band. And you never thought to tell me?” Dean walked further into the room and inspected the instruments closer. “This is awesome.”
“Question for you,” she said, leaning closer to the mirror as she started applying the makeup. Dean caught her eyes in the reflection. “Do you get shy around groups of people, or what? Because you’ve barely said two words since you got here and I’ve never heard you that quiet.”
“Well, I wasn’t expecting to walk into a crazy party when I came over at seven am.”
Y/N’s smile escaped for a second before she schooled her features into neutral expression and put on some lipstick. As soon as she was done, she spun around on her stool and eyed Dean. He’d moved over and was lounging on her bed. “And I bet you weren’t expecting me to invite your one night stand over for breakfast either, huh?”
He laughed. “Yeah, that too. Besides, you’re always so quiet. I guess I was just surprised when I walked in and everyone kept talking and talking. I couldn’t get a word in edgewise anyway.”
Y/N nodded and walked over, settling on the bed next to Dean. He’d literally slept with her friend not even twelve hours before. It should make him feel like a giant douche the way his heart seemed to quicken at that simple movement, but strangely enough, he didn’t feel any sort of guilt or other negative emotion. Everyone in this apartment was open and welcoming. There were no hard feelings. For crying out loud, Y/N had her ex-boyfriend sleeping under her room and they still seemed to argue like siblings.
“Yeah,” she said, staring at her ceiling. “Everyone here does seem to have huge personalities.”
“Damn right we do!” Logan said, stepping out of the master bathroom wearing only a towel. “Here’s a tip, Dean. If you wanna say something around us, just say it. Loudly, otherwise no one will hear you.”
“Ain’t that the truth,” Y/N muttered fondly. She eyed Logan sideways. “Now go find some pants.”
“What about a shirt?”
“Logan, honey, your abs are a gift to this world. Don’t worry about a shirt.”
He struck some poses, flexing his muscles theatrically until his towel started slipping and he hurried to grab it before it fell to the ground. Y/N just laughed and pointed to the door. “Pants.”
After a salute, Logan left the room, shutting the door behind him.
“You’re doing it again,” Dean said, making Y/N raise an eyebrow and look over at him. “Deflecting. Anytime I ask you about yourself, you somehow bring the conversation back to me. I want to hear about your band.”
She seemed to consider his words for a long moment before shifting so she was laying on her side, facing Dean. “Okay. What do you wanna know about it?”
“You’re in a band with your ex, I wanna know everything. How does that even work?”
“Easier now that we’re broken up. All of us went to high school together. That’s when Brock and I were together. We decided to start a band and it started picking up a few months after we graduated. When we were together, we were always fighting about the band. So everyone made us sit down and choose between our relationship or the band. The band was more important to both of us, and that was that. Considering how easy it was to go back to being friends, it’s pretty obvious we weren’t meant to be together.”
Dean’s eyes flicked over Y/N’s face as she told the story. He’d enjoyed the glimpse into her life from everyone else out in the living room, but hearing it from her own lips was even better.
“Still overwhelmed? You seemed pretty overwhelmed out there with everyone.”
Oh no. She wasn’t about to deflect. “What do you do in the band?”
“Everything. All of us were band geeks and we learned so many different instruments. So, besides the usual band instruments like flute, saxophone, and trumpet, we all learned guitar, bass, and enough drums to get by. Brock is our drummer though. That’s where he spends most of his time.”
“Why haven’t you told me this before?”
She shrugged, as much as she could, anyway. It was hard to shrug when laying on your side. “I don’t really like talking about myself. Whenever we get interviewed, everyone else usually answers the questions. I… I deflect, like you said. They’re better at it anyway.”
Interviewed? “How big is your band?”
“We’re getting there,” was all she said. Seeing the questions in his eyes, she gave in. “We’re leaving on a tour in a few weeks. That’s why Reyna came. She’s here to see our last local show and take Brock on a vacation before we leave for Europe.”
“Europe?”
“Just as an opening band… for Yearly Telling.”
Holy… “Shit, Y/N! That’s amazing!”
Her lips curled up into a soft smile. “Yeah, it is. We’ve gone on a few North American tours with other small bands. The kinds of tours where we book small venues and people buy the tickets because they’re cheap and they like live music. This is our first headliner tour.”
Even though Dean was more into classic rock, and bands that didn’t tour anymore, even he knew about Yearly Telling. The few songs he’d listened to weren’t bad. In fact, he actually liked them. And even as technologically challenged as he was, he knew that Yearly Telling was blowing up the charts.
“You said Reyna’s here to see your last local show?”
Y/N nodded. “Tonight, at Budd’s. Just a small, laid back bar. Do you wanna come?”
Hell yes. “Well, didn’t you say that as soon as Reyna came, I wouldn’t be allowed to leave?”
Y/N was about to answer when her bedroom door opened and Bethany and Stephanie came strolling in. Bethany’s hair was damp from her shower, and Stephanie was talking enthusiastically. She cut off when she noticed Y/N and Dean on the bed. “Hey you two. Y/N, is it cool if I steal some of your makeup? Thanks, babe!”
“I have some different tones in my bottom drawer,” Y/N replied, obviously used to Stephanie’s mannerisms. “I actually think some of them are yours, from when you lived here.”
“Awesome. Anyway, as I was saying Beth, this chick had a bouffant. Literally, a bouffant. She was like, twenty-something and her hair looked like a freaking beehive. I asked her what kind of hairspray she uses, because if I’m coming on tour with you guys as all y’all’s groupie, I have to perfect my slutty sideshow look.”
Dean let out a heavy sigh he hadn’t realized he’d been holding when Stephanie came into the room. Y/N was right. She definitely wasn’t clingy at all. Y/N just smirked at him and shifted until she was sitting. “C’mon, Dean Let’s go grab some breakfast before Brock and Logan eat it all.”

Summerslam preview
Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns - Reigns defeated Bobby Lashley on Raw to earn this match for Lesnar’s universal championship.
The story this time is virtually unchanged from their match at Wrestlemania 34--Lesnar doesn’t respect WWE and never shows up to defend the title, Roman is the only guy that could beat him, and this is the last chance before Lesnar leaves to go back to UFC.  Technically this is the last match on Lesnar’s WWE contract, but so was the Mania match until he signed an extension.  So the fact Lesnar is already setting up a UFC title fight with Demetrious Johnson Daniel Cormier does not mean anything to this match--Lesnar could easily sign another extension, retain in Brooklyn, and drop the title in November or something.
Real talk, I am sitting out this show because I don’t want to repeat the cocktease of Roman choking at Mania, and I don’t have faith in WWE to make it up to me.  I already vented about this match extensively, but basically nothing has changed to make it seem like Roman is more likely to win than last time.  Roman hasn’t changed up his game or style, he’s just become more whiny and petulant.  Lesnar hasn’t gotten weaker--the split with Paul Heyman turned out to be a ruse, and even if Heyman does a triple-cross at the show, that’s not going to convince me to order before the show.  Roman did manage to get that “should have won” finish in the cage match at Saudi Arabia, but that super-touch-the-floor-before-the-other-guy power doesn’t really matter in a non-cage match.
The most important wrinkle added to this match is that it’s the first time since 2015 that Lesnar has been in a title match while a Money in the Bank contract can be used against him.  We won’t know who will have the contract during this match until the Strowman/Owens match is settled, but it can be executed immediately after (or even during) this match to give a third man a chance to steal the championship.  The hype would be that instead of us being pissed when Lesnar wins again, this time when he’s all tired and stuff a second guy comes out and wrecks him.  The problem with that as an incentive to order the show is that Lesnar usually makes winning look so easy that after his matches I tend to think he could go back and clobber five more guys.  Also, my big problem with a Money in the Bank cash-in finish, to slay the dragon Roman never could, is that it leaves Roman looking weak as hell, which would be tolerable except WWE will spend another year trying to fix the mess they made, at the expense of our patience.
Ideally, Roman should just crush Lesnar in under ten minutes, with Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins (and maybe even Heyman) helping, and then they triple-powerbomb Strowman to close the show.  That would be the best move right now, to rehab Reigns and wash the bad taste of the Lesnar/Reigns saga out of our mouths.  But I am dead certain they will not do this, or even come close.  So I’m picking Lesnar to pin Roman clean, and whoever has MITB doesn’t even bother to come out, for maximum fuck-you points.
Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss
- Bliss won the Raw women’s title in part by disrupting Rousey’s own title shot, so now Rousey is after revenge and the championship.
WWE’s in a tough spot because they want to push Rousey as an unstoppable badass and special attraction, which means she has to dominate all her matches and look like she knows what she’s doing from the start.  That limits their ability to show her the ropes in the undercard or on house shows, so they have to get creative about how they present her.  I’ve heard this match has been heavily rehearsed, which is fine, but it may indicate concerns about how quickly they can pull the trigger on a title run.  They were already perfectly happy with Bliss as a tippy-toppy woman, so they could easily stand pat with her for another 3-6 months. But given the all-women’s show coming up in October, I think they’ll want Rousey to come out on top here.
AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe - Styles is defending the WWE world championship.  If Joe wins, I believe he will be the first man to have held the WWE, TNA/Impact, and ROH world heavyweight titles.
Joe has been playing mindgames, trying to convince Styles that his title run has hurt his commitment to his family, and that his wife and kids are hoping Joe wins.  I don’t buy that AJ believes that, but I do buy that he’s furious that Joe would talk shit about his family.
According to profightdb.com, Joe and AJ have faced off at all since 2013, when they were both in TNA.  It’s pretty amazing WWE is just now getting around to this match-up, because I don’t even think they were trying to save it for a special occasion.  These guys have always worked well together, so we should be in for a treat, but on the other hand that was a long time ago, so it’ll be interesting to see what’s changed.  This is the one match that gives me second thoughts about skipping this show.
I think Joe should win, to cap off a long Styles reign and to acknowledge Joe’s underrated performance as a killer heel.  But they’ve managed to build up AJ’s credibility as a tough guy to beat, to the point where I’m actually wondering if he’ll go a full 365 days as champion, or even all the way into next year’s Wrestlemania.  So I’m not super confident Joe can win, but he’s still my pick.
Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens - Strowman’s Money in the Bank contract is at stake in this match.  They’ve been booking this feud like Owens is Wile E. Coyote constantly trying to dream up ways to get the drop on his opponent that never work, except the Roadrunner is fucking Braun Strowman so it doesn’t exactly make much sense.  For example, Owens holds a victory over Strowman because it was an escape-the-cage match and Strowman got mad threw him off the top of the cage.  I assume the idea is that Owens has a super-sneaky plan (perhaps involving Jinder Mahal) that will have us kicking ourselves if it works, but I don’t actually believe it will work.  I can see a booking direction in which Owens has the contract, but I have a really hard time seeing him winning this match.  So I’m going with Strowman to win.
Camella vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch - This is a three-way for Carmella’s Smackdown women’s title, so there can be no count-outs or disqualifications, and the first woman to score a fall on either opponent will be the champion.  Carmella won the title by ambushing Charlotte after a brutal beatdown, and then retained in a rematch.  Becky earned her spot in this match by beating Carmella.  Charlotte earned her spot in this match by...coming back, I guess?  I don’t even know anymore.
I think Becky’s fans have gone the longest without a title and they’re starting to get pretty damn nuts about it, so I would appreciate it if WWE tossed Wrestling Tumblr a bone and let us have this, if only so that we can get “Carmella deserves it more” discourse as a change of pace.  But I think the real reason this is a three-way is for the old bit where the heel is facing two babyface friends and seems to be doomed, but the faces fight each other and the heel sneaks out with a win.
Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz - All right.  Back in 2010 WWE signed Bryan and, to fuck with everybody, introduced him as a rookie being mentored by Miz.  This led to good heel heat when Miz acted like he was the true master of the two, which led to a nice pop when Bryan beat him for the US title later that year.  Then for a long time nothing happened.  Then in 2016 Bryan was retired and Miz did a worky-shooty promo on him that everybody raved about even though it didn’t set up a match.  Then nothing happened.  Then in 2018 Bryan came out of retirement, so the people who think Miz is really great decided the #1 dream match for Bryan is to finally continue this allegedly epic rivalry.
People keep acting like this is a legendary feud and I’m not sure what they see in it except that Miz yells really loud about it.  I mean, it’s good that Miz has discovered shouting but I have yet to detect a coherent point in his promos except that he’s delusional for thinking he’s the superior combatant.  (Miz may be the superior entertainer, and more likely to be wrestling in five years, but in kayfabe I don’t know what that has to do with winning this one fight.)
You’d think as a part of Bryan’s big emotional return from a career-threatening concussion, he should just win this match.  But on the other hand, Miz has a reality show they need to put over.  And more to the point, there’s still no clear indication that Bryan has renewed his WWE contract, which is supposed to expire in less than a month.  If I’m WWE, and I think Bryan could be headed to ROH to headline Madison Square Garden, I’m not putting him over at Summerslam.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Seth Rollins - Dolph already defended the intercontinental title against Seth in a 30-minute iron man match, but I guess that was all to set up this...regular match.  OK, then.
The big angle this time is that Rollins has always had to deal with Ziggler having Drew McIntyre in his corner, but this time Rollins has Dean Ambrose on his side, freshly returned from a triceps tear.  Unless Ambrose is just going to turn on Rollins, it’d be crazy to waste the Shield reunion heat for this match on a Ziggler win.  And if you’re going to do some kind of tease of a heel turn among the Shield, I think you should wait until later when Roman Reigns can be involved for maximum effect.  So my preference is for Rollins to win the title and celebrate with Dean.  But I’m not confident we’ll all get what want...
Harper & Rowan vs. any two of Big E & Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods - The New Day are challenging Harper and Rowan for the Smackdown tag team championship, and they probably won’t reveal which two of the three are going to wrestle until the match starts.  I don’t think WWE knows where they’re going with the Smackdown tag division, so it’s hard to pick a winner here.  Ordinarily you have to assume the two big monsters with giant hammers are the favorites, but the New Day are a hot act and should probably get back on top of the mountain.  It depends on whether they’ve got anyone else in mind to beat the Bludgeon Brothers, but I don’t think they do.......so.....New Day wins the belts.
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Jeff Hardy - Nakamura won the US title from Jeff last month due to interference from Randy Orton, and then Orton interfered in the rematch too, so this is another rematch.  Orton may or may not be in trouble for reports of him pulling his dick out in meetings a long time ago, so I don’t know if he’ll be running into this match or not.  I’ve also read Hardy is awfully banged up so I don’t think a title win is a great idea for him.  So Nakamura is going to retain, it’s just a question of whether it’s via a ballshot DQ or an Orton run-in.
Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin - Ugh.  Maybe Balor can remember where he left his body paint so he can turn into the demon and end this feud already.
Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel vs. Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder - This is on the pre-show.  Dallas and Axel (The B-Team) are defending the Raw tag team title against the Dawson and Wilder (The Revival).  Back when the Revival were in NXT it would be ludicrous to think they wouldn’t punch these jobbers in the mouth and dominate the tag scene for months.  But I guess the whole “no flips, just fists” mentality has nothing on midcard comedy antics.  The B-Team has momentum, and although they probably won’t in a year, for now they’re miles ahead of the Revival.  Dallas and Axel retain.
Cedric Alexander vs. Drew Gulak - Gulak is challenging for the crusierweight championship on the pre-show.  I haven’t really paid attention to the cruiserweights for months and it sounds like I haven’t missed anything.  I don’t know, I guess Cedric retains.
Andrade Almas & Zelina Vega vs. Rusev & Lana - This is also scheduled for the pre-show.  It’s a mixed tag team match, so every time one team makes a tag the other team is also required to tag to ensure that men only wrestle men and women only wrestle women.  This started a a series of Vega/Lana matches, until their men got involved.  Rusev’s sidekick Aiden English is also in the mix, although he hasn’t done Rusev and Lana much good so far.  You’d expect Almas and Vega to win to continue their push and advance the plot of whatever’s happening between Rusev and English.  But knowing WWE, nothing is for sure here.

Wrestlemania predictions?
Hmm, let’s see…
AJ Styles retains. I’m not sure why I think this. I just don’t feel like Nakamura is ready.Roman Reigns wins…OBVIOUSLY. It’ll be the same old shit. Reigns does 28 spears and 84 superman punches to take Brock down.Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon win. However, I have a feeling there might be a Shane heel turn here. I also think Kevin Owens and Sammy Zayn are heading to RAW.Asuka wins. There’s no way they’re ending her streak yet. I think Ember Moon is the only person to end it, really.Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle win…OBVIOUSLY. We’ll probably get an arm-bar/ankle lock double submission finish. All I hope is that Ronda is actually a good wrestler.Nia Jax wins. I love Nia. I want her to be my wife. While she doesn’t have the most varied move-set, she does need to be given a push to be the women’s version of Brock. The Miz takes it. The Miz is on fire right now and has been for the best part of a year. While I’d like to see Rollins take it (I like Rollins a lot), I don’t think he will. Are we going to get the Demon Finn though?Braun Strowman and ??? win. This is the one match that has me guessing. Who the fuck is going to be Strowman’s partner? Big Show? Ellsworth? Elias? Dean Ambrose? Big Cass? Either way, he wins. Sheamus needs time off and, fingers crossed, we’ll get a Cesaro singles push.Rusev wins. Rusev is HOT FIRE right now. The crowd love him. If he doesn’t win, WWE are stupid. Something tells me they’re going to put it on Jinder though. The New Day win. They haven’t had a big Wrestlemania moment yet (although, neither have The Usos). I think this year is their time to take it. I think this match will be great, too.Sasha Banks will win the Battle Royale. She’ll fuck Bayley over again. Either that or they’ll eliminate each other and Becky Lynch will take it.Samoa Joe will win the men;s Battle Royale. Either that or a returning Big Show. The Undertaker wins. Yes, there will be a match. I just hope ‘Taker comes out as his American Badass persona and not the Dead Man. We need something fresh(er) from him.
Oh and I don’t give a fuck about the Cruiserweight match since I don’t watch 205 Live. I’m only on board if Neville returns.

Best I Have
Fandom: WWE
Pairing: Dean Ambrose/Roman Reigns
Rating: Holy shit M.
AN: Another AU, for the Thirsty Crew! Tagging @toxiicpop, @oraclegazes  and OF COURSE @hardcorewwetrash! Enjoy!
“Mr. Ambrose!”
Dean grunted, a bit startled and pausing at the sound of his name. “Yeah?”
The man who had spoken looked familiar, but Dean couldn’t place him. More shit rattled free up top, I guess. On the older side, round face. He seemed good-natured enough. Dean shook his hand, still trying to figure out who this guy was. “Sika Reigns.” The man prompted after a minute or two of Dean studying him.
“Oh!” Dean felt like an idiot. “I’m sorry sir, I’m used to all the--” He gestured around his head, indicating where Sika’s thick black hair once was.
Sika chuckled ruefully. “You and me both, kid. Listen, my hairline isn’t important. I heard you’re planning on facing Brock soon, and that a few of the legends have given you their blessing.” Sika cleared his throat. “Maybe a few implements, as well.”
Oh. “Listen, if you’re here from Heyman, I ain't interested in his terms and I told him that from the get-go.” Dean bristled, but the older man was already shaking his head.
“Hell no, calm down. I’d like to offer you my son.”
“You…what? Your…okay, I’m a little confused here man.” Dean stammered. I didn’t think dads still tried to pawn their kids off like this. “I mean, Funk gave me a chainsaw and Foley gave me Barbie. Those are weapons. No offense, but what am I supposed to do with your son? Who even is…does he work in the indies or something?”
“Roman?” Mr. Reigns called.
Dean heard footsteps behind him and he immediately turned around, fists raised. Oh. Oh. Roman wasn’t as tall as him but he was broader. Dean thought momentarily that he had short, slicked-back hair, but upon further inspection he realized Roman’s hair was pulled back into a bun. The tight smile that he was given contrasted sharply with the intimidating black gear the other man was wearing. Is that a cattle prod?!
“We’ve already spoken about your…situation, and we believe this is an excellent strategy. He’s an unknown factor, he’s strong, capable and, most importantly, he’s the best weapon I can offer you.” Sika sounded proud enough to burst. It made Dean almost queasy with jealousy. “Terry and Mick mean well, they always have. But I’m fairly confident Lesnar will have ample warnings of your little red wagon.”
“And where the hell am I supposed to stash him?” Dean asked, still reeling from the whole interaction. “He’s a little bigger than a chainsaw, man!”
“Underneath the ring, of course.” Sika shrugged. “Where else?”
Where else? Dean had to agree with that, this guy was obviously going to stick out a bit in any crowd. Underneath the ring. “And what is your input on this…this weird ass plan?” Dean demanded of Roman, already tired of the ‘strong silent’ routine.
Roman inclined his head. “I’m here to help.”
Seth had been softer when they’d started out. A little brother, to be protected until he proved himself. Dean still regretted all the times he’d defended Seth. He should have let him take the hits, should have let him suffer a little more. Maybe then he wouldn’t have turned on Dean. Maybe then he would have understood how much Dean did for him.
Dean had been alone for the first time in years that night, laying in the middle of the ring after being handed his ass on a silver platter by Rollins and his new lackeys. Ambrose's vest and body were torn to pieces, the metaphor not lost on him in the slightest while he spit up blood in the locker room shower with Seth’s voice yelling “crazy!” on repeat in his aching head.
Their dynamic duo went up in flames, the Shield no more. They fought like rabid animals every opportunity they got, putting each other into the hospital on a monthly basis. It felt almost wrong to be focusing his energy on someone else, but with Rollins out injured for a while, Ambrose needed new ways to try and hang on to his limited sanity.
So he’d picked a fight with Brock Lesnar. Not his smartest move to date. Yet for some reason a lot of folks had gotten behind him. He guessed everyone must be tired of that lazy asshole storming around like he owned the place. He still hadn’t expected a chainsaw from Terry, though. That was unanticipated (and definitely illegal, love you anyway you crazy old bastard).
This arrangement with Roman smacked of weirdness though, and if there was one thing Dean was all over it was weirdness. Roman kept to himself during their training sessions, didn’t push his boundaries and didn’t say much. He was…bland. Almost to a fault.
They had to at least be able to work together. Dean knew that, kept reminding himself of that. Also kept reminding himself that Roman wasn’t Rollins. Sometimes he caught himself just before calling Roman Seth, just before dropping an inside joke or punching his shoulder like he had with Seth. This guy wasn’t here to be his friend.
Neither was Rollins.
Seth and Roman were like night and day. Rollins was excitable, easily flustered and distracted. Roman was…well steady was really the only word Dean could think of. Roman would wait, and wait, and wait. There didn’t seem to be an impatient bone in his body. Most of Dean’s training regiment was repetition, running the same pattern on the mats and pads until he could do it in his sleep. So having Roman around to bounce off of certainly made his training a hell of a lot easier.
Another thing Dean kept having a problem with was that this guy was here to help with one fight. Roman was just an implement, a means to an end. It was weird that he was taking such an active role here, and his dad gifting him essentially as a big, blunt object was still…it sat funny with Dean.
He’s the best weapon I can offer you.
Ambrose shook himself all over, squaring up yet again.
“Can I ask you something?” Roman began, lowering the pads a fraction. Dean nodded in reply. “Why Lesnar?” The larger man questioned.
Dean froze up for a second. A long second. “Because I’m a fuckin’ idiot.”
“Oh.” Roman got into position and Dean assumed that was the end of the questions, raising his fists. “I don’t understand how that makes you an idiot.”
Ambrose sighed heavily. “Look, I appreciate the vote of confidence. But the fact of the matter is that this is a fight I’m probably not winnin’. It’s a time-waster, you and I both know that.”
“Why bother doing it then?”
Because I need to do something. “Boredom, I guess.” Dean shrugged, doing his best to seem flippant. Because it’s either fight someone or tap my fingers against my knees until I wear holes in them. Because it’s either get my ass kicked or sit around thinking. Because I’m tired, so damn tired of everything and if I start focusing on that... “Needed something to do while Rollins heals his knee.” And oh no, oh no, that was the wrong thing to say.
Roman seemed confused, letting him get in a few hits before opening his mouth again. “Seth Rollins? He’s the guy that you tagged with, right? The Shield?”
Dean crouched, scowling. “We've been trading asswhuppings. Kane fucked up his knee though, so I have to be patient. I’m not gonna’ break into a hospital while he’s rehabbing. I’m not an animal.”
“Didn’t he put your head through-”
“I’m not stooping to his level.” Dean snarled. “I fight in the ring or not at all.”
“Does it bug you that people call you the crazy one?” Roman queried, his brow furrowed. “I mean I haven’t really been following your feud, I rely on Dad to keep me up to date for the most part. But…the cinderblocks?”
“I’ve had worse man, much worse.” Dean itched absently at his neck. “Rollins knows that. S’why he did it. Wants to see how far he can push me, I guess.”
“What the fuck.” Roman breathed.
“Dude I’ve gotten my face pulped on cinderblocks that didn’t break. Trust me, the ones that break are preferable.” Dean found morbid amusement in spouting advice that no normal person would ever need. “Rollins has always been a button pusher. S’what he does. Unfortunately for him, though, I’ve learned a few things along the way.”
Roman cocked his head curiously, like he was actually interested. Like he wanted Dean to keep talking. Dean just grinned at him, tapping the pads.
“Up, c’mon. This ain’t chat time, Reigns.”
“Oh! Sorry.” Roman straightened the pads back out, looking a little disappointed.
“Maybe another time, huh?” Dean suggested grudgingly after a few minutes had gone by. “Some other time. After we kill Brock.”
“Yeah.” Roman’s smile didn’t reach his eyes, which made Dean very curious.
“Man I know I shouldn’t, but I gotta’ ask. Why the heck did your dad like…drop you into my lap?” Dean didn’t expect the way Roman flinched and he almost snapped Reigns’ wrist off with his next swing. “Shit, sorry. My bad.”
“No no, it’s fine. I…it’s a tough question to answer.” Roman said quietly. “Brock and Paul said some things about my family that they could have kept to themselves, to make a long story short.”
“Goddamn, those cocksuckers.” Dean snarled. “That’s as good a reason as any to get involved with him, I don’t blame you. Shit, I wish I had a reason for tangling with his ass. Your family is a legendary one in this business, what the fuck could they have to say about you guys?”
“More than enough, that’s what.” Roman’s face hardened. “So here I am, greenhorn through and through. But the only one who could step up to the plate.”
“Dude this is some Highlander shit, wow.” The sense of awe Dean felt was almost overwhelming. “Can I…I mean, this is gonna’ sound real weird but could I like. Teach you a few things?” He asked hesitantly. “I know you’re going to be there and it’s going to be hilarious to see the look on that pink bastard’s face when you show up, but can I maybe…I dunno’, work with you or somethin’? It would just be cool to actually have a reason to fight Brock.” Instead of me doing it because I can’t handle doing nothing.
“Defending my heritage and the honor of my family isn’t something cool, Ambrose.” Roman seemed irritated. “This is a serious issue. People think they can say offensive shit because my dad isn’t actively in the business anymore, or because my cousins do their haka, things like that. It’s not as if anything has changed when it comes to Lesnar, we’ve all seen the footage of him from the Guerrero matches.” Roman’s fists tightened around the pad straps.
“Shit, I didn’t mean…I’m sorry man, I’m bad at talking sometimes. I meant like. Not cool.” Dean struggled to explain his thought process. “Just more than what I have right now. I’ve got no family to defend, no lineage or anythin’. I’m just a scrappy, mouthy shit. But you’ve seen me fight. Think about it man, that’s just how I tangle when I have a petty fuckin’ grudge. I’ve never...crap, I’m doing this all wrong.” Dean grunted, tugging at a handful of his light-colored hair in frustration. He tried to collect himself while Roman just stood there, waiting. “Look, I’m not trying to be offensive. Ain’t my intention an’ I’m incredibly sorry if I’m comin’ off that way. I’m…I know your dad offered you to me as an assist that Brock won’t see coming. But this fight I picked is totally pointless. There’s no angle to it at all, it’s literally just ‘Crazy Guy Wastes Time And Gets Paid To Do It’.”
“You can’t be that hard up for money, man. I refuse to believe that. You’re one of the top guys in this company.” Roman pointed out.
Dean chuckled mirthlessly. “It’s not about the money, Reigns. And it’s sure as shit not about my prowess or defending anything. It’s…” Dean trailed off, starting up a tempo on his collarbone.
“It’s…?” Roman prompted him after a minute or two, raising an eyebrow.
“I got this…this issue with standing still. I have a lot of nervous energy to expel. Dunno’ what the normal amount is, but I can say with confidence that I’ve got a lot more than normal. I thought that going after the big guy would help work through a little of it.” Dean tried to sound nonchalant. “Til’ Rollins is all better and I have him to throw around again.”
“You really know Rollins, huh?” Roman was watching him closely. “You’re always scrapping with him and you guys still work well to-”
“No we do not.” Dean gritted out. “We used to. We do not anymore. End of discussion.” He cracked his neck, hearing the satisfying pop in his ears as he rotated his head. Roman busied himself with adjusting the pads on his hands. “Look, I don’t know how up to date your dad kept you. I’m assuming you ain’t seen the footage from the night Rollins broke us up.” Dean said by way of apology, knowing that being gruff and moody wasn’t really going to do either of them any good.
“No, I didn’t look for it or anything. Should I?” Roman asked quietly.
“Fuck no. That was just the last time I fought for something I believed in, y’know? I thought Rollins and I would be partners forever. We went through hell and high water together. And he kind of…well, look, right now ain’t the time for a sob story about my commitment issues, alright? My offer is on the table if you want it. I’ll gladly toss myself at Lesnar, I’ll fight harder than I’ve ever fought before. I don’t want your ass gettin’ a beatdown because you ain’t had to do this before.” Dean held up a hand when Roman opened his mouth. “Just think on it for a while. Talk to your pops, he’s the guy that threw your hat in with ‘The Lunatic’. Even if the answer is no, that’s okay. I’ve got weapons and I’ll use ‘em to cripple Lesnar so you can have the last blow hopefully without getting yourself hurt.”
“Why, though? Why would you...?”
“I don’t need this victory. You do. Your family does.” Dean said bluntly. “I don’t need jack shit from Lesnar except a huge, angry opponent who will help when it comes to killing time.” He cleared his throat. “This fight is a terrible idea. For anyone, really. Brock ain’t a merciful dude. I’ve dealt with worse than him, but you haven’t. So I’ll take the brunt of his bullshit.”
“You’re not really answering my question, Ambrose.”
“It’s important that you have something to fight for.” Dean reached forward and began undoing the target pad straps on Roman’s hands. “How often do you fight, and what is it for?”
“I’ve never been in a real fight in my life.” Roman replied honestly. “In high school I would push the other jocks around. That’s it though. Kid stuff, we weren’t exactly throwing punches.”
“Ground up, huh? Alright. We’ll start with evasion.” Dean grunted, snapping the straps into place around his own hands.
Roman was from a long, proud, downright prestigious line of athletes. He would never stop being impressed by his family’s dedication to whatever they set themselves to.
But when his father told him he was going to fight Lesnar one way or another, his heart sank to his shoes. He had been hoping to break into the business, yes, but maybe in a less…drastic manner. This was a suicide mission and it confused Roman to no end, the notion that his father was totally willing to hang the family hat on Roman’s performance in something he’d never officially done. Oh certainly, he’d wrestled before. Growing up in his family practically guaranteed it.
It was different when it was personal. Hearing what Brock said about his family, what Heyman said about his family lit Roman’s fuse. He’d agreed to his father’s plan without a second thought at the time, raring to defend his siblings, his cousins.
Now, laying on his back on the mat gasping for breath, he was a little concerned with himself. Did he have the ability? Absolutely. Was he going to be able to keep it together so he could win? Maybe not so much.
Ambrose growled, seeming exasperated. “You need to conserve your energy, man. Maybe switch up your workout for endurance, do some more jump rope.” He suggested, plopping down beside the dark-haired man.
Roman nodded, too tired to do much of anything else.
“The good news is that Brock is a glass fuckin’ cannon. All it takes is one damn good shot to rock him, and then if you don’t let up…” Dean punched his palm, “Boom! You have anythin’ in football that could be good for that? It's easier to re-purpose instead of go flat-out new.”
Roman blinked up at the ceiling while Ambrose rattled on, not really paying attention to what he was saying. The fight was less than a week away and his confidence continued to wane even as he doggedly trained with Dean.
“Hey, d’ya think when you win I could hold your arm up?” Ambrose asked. He always spoke in absolutes and it made Roman feel just a tad better. When you win, when Brock loses. “Kinda’ like how the ref does.” Dean had done a complete one-eighty as far as his attitude went once he realized that Roman wasn’t some dumb lug. The thinner man seemed almost happy to teach Roman, weirdly enthusiastic about passing along his techniques. Which leaned more towards the street fight side of things, but any port in a storm as far as Roman was concerned. Someone who would bad mouth his family didn't deserve anything above a good old-fashioned ass beating.
“Sure, why the hell not.” Roman managed to shrug while still on his back. “Could be cool.”
“Badass.” Dean had a smile that could disarm a drill sergeant, Roman was certain. It was rare, but when he did smile he could light up the room.
“Oh, I talked with my dad about you training me.” Reigns said a little while later, as Dean was running the ropes.
“Was he pissed?” Ambrose panted, nearly slipping on the mat and taking a second to regain his balance before he was off again.
Roman shook his head, putting his hands on his hips. “Nah, it was kinda' weird. He seemed excited about it. Said I could learn a lot from you.”
“That's so cool, oh wow. Sika thinks I'm smart.” Ambrose draped himself over the middle rope, his eyes wide in delight.
“He doesn't get why you would sacrifice your opportunity to beat Brock, but he's happy all the same.” Roman clarified.
“I told you, man, it's not personal for me. It's just me bein' bored.” Dean reached out and rumpled Roman's hair, the gesture rough but oddly fond. “You're going to do great.”
“Do you actually think that? Or are you just saying that to make me feel better?” Roman asked, furrowing his brow when Ambrose slid out of the ring to stand in front of him.
Dean took his shoulders, pressing their foreheads together. “Not only do I think you're gonna' beat him, I think you're gonna' beat him to within an inch of his life.” He searched Roman's eyes, doubtless seeing the fear that Reigns tried so hard to conceal. “Why do you think you're not going to beat him?”
“It's not that I think I won't beat him. I know it's going to be difficult and there's so much riding on me to beat him. I'm...I guess I'm nervous.” Understatement of the century. Every time Roman thought about getting in the ring for real, in front of all those people...
“You've got this, man. I swear. As long as I'm still pullin' breath into my lungs, you're not losing this fight.” Dean promised, extending his hand. Roman shook it after a minute, feeling a tiny bit better. Ambrose always seemed to know just what to say when it came to reassuring him. Roman was incredibly grateful for the weird opportunity he had been granted. Training with 'The Lunatic' was definitely a once in a lifetime kind of experience.
There was a bruise under Dean's eye from a punch gone wrong earlier in the week. Roman had floored him with the shot, apologies already pouring out of him as he crouched beside the other man. Ambrose had looked rattled for a minute before accepting a hand back up. “Holy shit, why didn't you tell me you could hit?!” He'd scolded Roman, “we could have been working on that instead of these speed drills! C'mon, hit me again! Let's go Reigns, time's a-wastin'!” He seemed ecstatic, he was definitely the only person Roman had met who was excited about getting punched in the face.
Once Dean figured out he could punch, he of course had to build a specific move around it. Roman privately thought it seemed kind of goofy, but he couldn't deny how badass it looked when it worked. Aim with his left hand, use the momentum of his hip rotation to add a little extra heat behind it, land on his feet without hurting himself. They practiced it over and over until Roman was pretty sure he could have done it in his sleep, both of them ending up laying on their backs on the mat panting hard.
Dean held out a fist to him and Roman tapped his knuckles against the other man's, turning his head to the side to catch Ambrose's grin. “You're gonna' do great.”
Dean's ears were ringing almost loud enough to drown out the roar of the crowd. There had been an explosion of pain at the base of his neck about two suplexes back and that's when the nausea kicked in. Everything was going wrong, where was Roman? He had swung with all his might, Barbie whistling through the air in his hands and Lesnar had somehow dodged the blow. Dean had been graced a back full of steel chairs as the prize for his insolence, and now he slumped in his corner with a very angry, very pink Brock standing over him.
For some reason KONGOS wouldn't get out of Dean's head, the opening accordion lick for Come With Me Now adding a little extra crazy to the clanging in his ears. I've wasted time, I've wasted breath, I think I've thought myself to death.
But he wasn't about to give up. Oh no, hell no. Ambrose intended on making Brock work even harder for this victory. Brock was pouring sweat, furious and pawing at his own face as he tried to keep his temper under control. Heyman was shrieking from ringside as always, Dean could feel the impacts of his hands on the mat as he attempted to leash his beast. Something else, though. There was a violent bump that came from beneath Dean, beneath the canvas, right before Lesnar hoisted him back up across his shoulders.
I was born without this fear, now only this seems clear. I need to move, I need to fight, I need to lose myself tonight.
Dean swung wildly at Brock's head, knowing that if Lesnar landed that F5 there might not be anything left in him to get back up. He managed to flail free, scramble away while Brock was off balance. Dean rolled out of the ring with Brock hot on his heels. His foot caught on something, the apron maybe, and he sprawled forward, his head cracking off the steel steps. The arena faded in and out around him as Dean bit down on his thumb, hard enough to hear the crunch of his skin giving way.
Confused what I thought for something I felt, confused what I feel for something that's real.
Brock's huge form was suddenly dripping sweat on his face and Dean found it in himself to wrinkle his nose in disgust, to roll up into himself. Brock sneered, one large hand grabbing the back of Dean's neck and hauling him upright. Dean made himself dead weight, laughing breathlessly when Brock struggled to keep him standing.
Something, someone hit Ambrose from behind, the shock hurting more than the actual blow from the chair. He tumbled to the floor again, not sure if this was the last time. A familiar cackle met his ears and Dean wondered if he was imagining things, if his brain was just filling in a few more painful blanks for him.
He didn't have very long to wonder as another someone threw their body over his own, arms wrapped around his head to shield him from the next onslaught.
...
“You okay?” Roman panted in Dean’s ear, grunting when the chair cracked against the back of his ring gear. “Sorry about this mess, Rollins was waiting for me.”
“Both of you were under there? Shit, you coulda' passed me a few more chairs. Some assist you were.” Ambrose sounded trashed.
“He had a sledgehammer, man.” Roman remembered the horrified second of realization he had when he saw the blunt weapon within arms reach of Rollins, the oh my God before he was pulling himself under the crossbeams beneath the ring and engaging the other man with extreme prejudice. “Are you okay?” Ambrose chose that moment to hiccup, blood and spit dribbling out of his mouth. Roman swore, wiping the mess away. “I’m gonna’ take that as a no.”
“Bit my tongue on one of the suplexes. What am I up to?” Dean raised his head, unfocused eyes looking for the signs that fans held. “Twelve, damn. That’s a pretty good number.” His head dropped back down, hitting the matted floor with a wet thud. His eyes rolled back in his skull, body shuddering underneath Roman.
“No no no, Ambrose!” Reigns said frantically, cursing himself for wasting so much time fighting with Rollins. If he had appeared when he was supposed to, maybe this wouldn’t have happened. He got to his feet, catching the next shot from Rollins and tearing the chair out of the other man’s grasp. “You-!” Roman seethed, tossing the chair back into the ring and leveling a Hogan-style finger point at Seth. His all-natural pythons may be a few inches shy, but he felt like it was the thought that counted. “You!” Every word that came to mind at this point was definitely not something pay-per-view friendly so Roman settled for grinding his teeth in a silent snarl. The crowded arena echoed the “YOU!”, murmurs rising after the initial confusion as to what the hell was going on. “SUPLEX CITY!” and “SHIELD!” and “YES!” chants began to circle, to duel.
Ambrose grabbed at one of the many empty pockets on the side of Roman’s pants, the battered man’s fingers scrabbling for purchase on Roman’s clothing. Roman hauled Dean up by his belt, Ambrose holding onto his arm even after he let him go. “What’re y’doin’ here, Seth?” Dean slurred. “Didja’ come t’pologize? Huh, buddy?” The raw pain in Dean’s voice startled Roman. “Come t’say ya’ sorry, Seth?”
Rollins started laughing again. “God, you’re pathetic!” He chuckled, bouncing from one foot to the other with Lesnar at his side. “I came to take part in my favorite pastime. Kicking your ass!”
Roman felt Dean sag against him, like his last ounce of fight had petered out. “Who the hell are you, anyway?” Lesnar asked Roman.
“He’s th’guy thas’ gunna’ pin y’ ass.” Ambrose said, pushing away from Reigns and blearily raising his fists. “His name’s Roman Reigns.”
Roman watched curiously as an odd expression crossed Brock’s face. Behind him, Heyman looked like he was about to burst. “I ain’t afraid of some other shitty offshoot of that fuckin’ family tree.” Brock said finally, grinning. “C’mon Reigns, you want a one-way trip to Suplex City that bad?” He beckoned. “Let’s get this over with.”
Roman crouched warily. “I’ve got Rollins.” Ambrose grunted, not looking like he ‘had’ Rollins in the slightest. If anything he was already swaying on his feet, weaving a little as he struggled to stay upright.
Roman did the only thing he could think of, exploding from his crouch with his arms outstretched to catch Brock and Rollins at the thighs with his shoulders and knock them both down. “Move Dean!” He shouted, Brock’s clumsy fingers tangling in his long hair to jerk his head back at a painful angle. The burly fighter didn’t give Roman a moment of pause, clubbing him with a closed fist to the side of his head that knocked him against the barricade. Roman saw stars, hastily raking at Lesnar’s eyes to give himself some breathing room like Dean had showed him.
No-Holds-Barred Street Fight it will goddamn be.
Ambrose practically fell on top of Rollins and was all over him like a bad suit, fists pounding into Seth’s neck and ribs at random. “Fuck you, sneakin’ around like a damn coward, with your Daddy’s sledgehammer!” Dean apparently had forgotten about the whole pay-per-view appropriate language thing, because he was swearing like a sailor when it came to Rollins.
Roman didn’t have much attention to spare for Ambrose. Brock was back on his feet, Roman still trying to shake the cobwebs from getting his head bounced off the barricade. Brock seized a handful of his hair again and Reigns was seriously regretting his last elastic snapping while he was duking it out with Rollins. Lesnar pulled him into an upright position to slap him across the face, that satisfied smirk the only thing Roman could focus on.
For my family.
Reigns caught Brock’s hand before it could connect again, debating momentarily on wrenching Lesnar’s wrist like Dean had demonstrated once or twice to stress out the tendons. Lesnar released his hold on his hair, winding back to take Roman’s head off. Roman’s free hand was suddenly full of wood handle, his fingers automatically gripping down on the bat while Ambrose full-on shoved it against Brock’s leg. The barbed wire tore into Lesnar’s skin and Brock hollered angrily, lashing out at Ambrose with a kick to the head that knocked him flat.
Roman dragged the bat up Brock’s leg, still maintaining his hold on the other man’s dominant hand. “All I have to do is swing, big man.” Roman snarled, “One good swing and you’ll be out of a job. You really wanna’ play that game with me, Lesnar?”
“Fuck you.” Brock spat, barely getting the chance to raise his other arm before Dean grabbed it, forcing it back down. Ambrose looked like he was barely there, his eyes half-closed and essentially his whole body wrapped around Lesnar’s arm.
Seth reared his ugly head, his nose appearing a little worse for the wear as he got to his feet and started towards the huddle of men with murder in his eyes and the sledgehammer in hand. Roman cast around frantically for a plan, a fragment of a plan, really. Something, anything!
He pulled Brock close and then shoved him back quickly, using the larger man to knock Seth down. Ambrose went along for the ride, unfortunately, and Roman’s heart slammed into his throat when Rollins lunged back to his feet, that sledgehammer raised high over his head.
Roman didn’t really think, he just dropped the bat and moved. Aim with the left, rotate his body into the motion. His fist connected with Seth’s jaw, the thunderous blow resounding through the arena.
Rollins stopped dead. Everything went silent aside from Brock’s heavy breathing. The sledgehammer slid free of Seth’s hands, dropping harmlessly to the floor. Rollins quickly followed, his body toppling like a rag doll. Roman realized (and he wasn’t sure if he was excited or horrified) that he’d just knocked the other man out.
Brock hauled himself back up, scrambling to climb into the ring. Fury bubbled in Roman’s chest like a living thing and he tipped his body back to roar, laughing wildly when the crowd echoed the sound. Where was Suplex City now? Heyman cowered beside the ring and Roman stalked him, catching him by the scruff of his neck before he could slink away.
“If I ever hear that you've spoken poorly of my family again, I will make you goddamn regret it.” Roman snarled, releasing the advocate immediately afterwards to focus solely on Lesnar. Brock had one of the many chairs in his hands, looking wary. Reigns sauntered around the ring, scooping Barbie back up. Dean somehow was halfway upright, clinging to the apron like his life depended on it. Roman tousled his hair on the way by and Ambrose arched up to his touch, snapping his teeth playfully at Roman’s hand.
“It’s up to you now, Reigns.” He said, resting his face on the side of the apron. “All up to you. Y’ got this, big dog.”
Big dog.
“You need to be with me, who's gonna' lift my hand when I win?” Roman asked.
Dean nodded slowly, raising his eyes to stare at Lesnar. “I'll make it up there. Promise.” He tapped Roman's fist with his own. “For your family, man.” He sounded exhausted.
Brock skittered as far back as he possibly could without dropping out of the ring again, holding the chair like a shield. Roman had no problem waiting, tapping the sole of his boot with the bat and leaning against the ropes with just a hint of insolence in his posture. He liked to think he'd learned a thing or two about pushing buttons from Ambrose, and he was not disappointed as a second later Brock charged at him with the chair.
Barbie met the chair with a ringing impact, the metal object ripped from Lesnar's hands by the force of the swing. Brock was left weaponless at the mercy of a young man fresh out of developmental, crafted by 'The Lunatic' himself and carrying the honor of his family.
Roman hoped that Brock at least realized the error of his ways before being rocked by another perfect Superman Punch. Roman straddled Brock's chest, pinning his arms down with his knees and delivering shot after shot to the other man's jaw. “Keep my family's name out of your damn mouth!” Roman shouted in Brock's face, his final punch snapping Lesnar's head to the side with a jerk of finality.
The arena was on its feet at the beginning of the beatdown, boos overwhelmed by steadily rising cheers. Roman pulled himself up and threw his head back for another roar, this one triumphant instead of angry. The Beast lay unconscious at his boots, his advocate probably still cringing in fear by the ring post. Roman turned on his heel to grab Ambrose's arm and easily pull him into the ring. “Take what's yours, Ambrose.” He ordered, Dean stumbling forward to pin Lesnar.
The three-count was called, the bell rung, and Ambrose was abruptly hugging Roman's legs. Reigns laughed and dropped the barbed wire bat so he could drag Dean to a semi-standing position and hug him for real. “You did it, Roman!” Dean yelled over the crowd, slamming his forehead into Roman's shoulder. “Holy shit, you did it. Wow.” He said a little quieter.
“We did it.” Roman replied firmly, tugging Dean's chin up so he could see his eyes. “We, Ambrose.” He wasn't sure if he would ever stop smiling, especially when Dean slowly smiled back. True to his word, Ambrose hoisted Roman's arm high, almost toppling with the effort. Roman grabbed his wrist, effectively raising both their arms. “This wouldn't even have happened if you hadn't taken me under your wing, man. Thank you.”
Dean closed his eyes and just basked in the adoration for a minute. He didn’t need it, but damn was it good to have when he was walking wounded. He palmed the back of Roman’s head, fingers running through that thick mane of hair. Roman hadn’t stopped smiling, his whole face lit up with joy as he kept his hand raised.
Roman’s dad was helped over the barricade by security and the older man climbed into the ring, raucous cheers starting up as people began to realize who he was. Sika, to Dean’s surprise, caught both men in a tight hug while saying “my boys!” over and over. “I’m so proud of you Roman. Thank you, Dean, for keeping my son safe.” He said quietly, making Ambrose tear up a little. Roman didn’t look much better, nodding and quickly rubbing at his eyes when his father released them.
“Thanks for believing in us, Dad.” Roman said, the sincerity in his voice hitting Dean like a punch to the gut. He didn’t have very long to focus on the feeling because Reigns was hugging him again, his dad wrapped around the outside of the embrace in another hug of his own. “Thank you, Ambrose.” Roman pressed their foreheads together. “Thank you so damn much.”
Dean closed his eyes again, not able to handle the unchecked affection in Roman’s gaze. “Anytime, man. S’what I’m here for.” He mumbled, his shoulders drooping as his body realized that the fight was over. You can stop now, Dean. Roman would leave, they had accomplished what they set out to do and that was it. You can stop now. Dean abruptly felt nauseous again, his knees starting to shake under him. He grabbed frantically at Roman’s shoulders, his fingers useless and clumsy as everything slowly dissolved into numb tingling.
“Dean!”
Ambrose had taken a hellish beating at the hands of Lesnar, twelve suplexes and more. Roman felt like an idiot for expecting him to walk out of the ring.
Dean looked dazed as he was secured to the backboard, blue eyes unfocused and fingers twitching wildly at his sides.
Sika’s hand landed on Roman’s shoulder. “Go with him, son. He needs you.” He shrugged when Roman looked back at him. “I can manage this part. Be with your partner now. He’s used to being alone. Let him know he isn’t anymore.” His dad gave him a knowing smile and Roman swallowed hard, nodding quickly.
“He has a concussion.”
Roman had wanted to say no shit, but he figured that would be bad form.
Ambrose had a death grip on his hand. He’d seemed surprised when Roman walked into the exam room, when Roman had taken his hand and squeezed it tight.
A concussion in this company could be a death sentence and Roman sincerely doubted that this was Dean’s first one.
“He’ll need supervision.”
Again, Roman wanted to say no shit. Dean’s jaw had tightened and he’d begun to protest, “I’m not some idiot kid, I can take care of myself.”
“I’ll stay with him.” Roman had stated firmly, feeling Dean’s eyes trying to burn a hole through him. “He’s my partner.”
Later that night Ambrose leaned his face against the car window and huffed out a loud sigh. “M’ sorry about all this, man.”
“What the heck are you apologizing for?” Roman asked, tapping at the screen of the GPS. “I’m lucky I’m not identifying your body at a freezer after that fight.”
“M’ sorry about Rollins. I didn’t…I figured he was still out of commission for weeks.” Dean fidgeted in his seat. “Thank fuck he didn’t have room to swing under the ring.”
“You can’t really be blamed for that maniac’s actions, man.” Roman finally got the GPS to work, punching in his address.
Dean chuckled, the noise forlorn. “I don’t know why the hell you’re the only person to figure out that I ain’t as unstable as I’m supposed to be. It’s weird.”
“In a good way or…?”
“Yeah. In a good way. In my kinda’ way.” Dean settled down in his seat, fingers tapping away at his kneecaps. “Where we goin’, anyhow?” He asked curiously.
“My apartment.” Roman cleared his throat. “Is there anything at your place that you need as far as tonight goes?”
“Nah, I’ve got a fresh set of clothes and my toothbrush in my gym bag. You sure you want me in your apartment though? Don’t wanna’ scare off any roommates or significant others.” Ambrose seemed legitimately worried.
“I live alone, you’re fine.” Reigns answered dismissively, giving his apartment a mental once-over and hoping he hadn’t left his boxers in the bathroom again. I get so damn lazy, he scolded himself, not noticing how quiet Dean had become until Ambrose coughed awkwardly.
“You don’t have any roommates or anything? That’s wild man, I don’t think I’ve ever lived anywhere by myself.” Dean twiddled his fingers. “Have you always lived on your own?”
“Since moving out, yes.” Roman shot Dean a curious look. “Why?”
“It’s just kinda’ strange to me is all. You have a big family though, so I can understand wanting your own space.” Dean reasoned. His back straightened up, as if he’d remembered something. “Oh! Shit! That thing you did during the match! The yell thing!” He said excitedly, bouncing in place for a second. “What the hell was that?! It was awesome!”
Roman laughed at Dean’s sudden enthusiasm. “I dunno’ man. I just felt like I needed to yell, so I did.”
“And Barbie, I can’t believe that shit! Just whackin’ that chair outta’ the park like Babe fucking Ruth. I’m…shit, I would have popped a boner if I’d had the presence of mind.” Dean teased, his tongue poking between his teeth as he grinned. “We done right by Mick, Funk, and your family, s’ all that matters.” Dean wriggled in his seat. “What are you gonna’ do from here on out? I’ve got the feelin’ that you may have a future in this company, y’know?”
“I was thinking I would stick with you. If they’ll let me, of course.” Roman deliberately kept his expression bland, his eyes focused on the road. He heard a quick, jerky intake of breath from the man beside him and Dean fell silent again.
“W…Why though?” Ambrose asked softly after a good five minutes had passed.
“I thought we worked well together. I’d like if you could keep teaching me.” Roman replied simply. “If the higher-ups permit.”
“I dunno’ if I’m ready for another partner, Reigns.” Dean said hesitantly. “I…It’s got nothing to do with you, okay?”
“Give me a chance, Ambrose. I promise I’ll work hard.”
“I ain’t worried about your work ethic man, I’ve seen that’s through the roof.” Ambrose protested. “After Rollins, I just don’t know if I should do partners anymore.”
“I can help with that. Superman Punch is his Kryptonite.” Roman didn’t expect the explosion of laughter from Ambrose.
“Oh my God, I totally forgot--that was fucking insane! You got four feet of air, I swear you did! Fuckin’ legendary, if nobody got a picture of you mid-swing I’m hiring a professional photographer. Hit hard and fuckin’ often, Roman Reigns!” Dean rambled, gesturing wildly with his hands. “I wish you’d been in the Shield man, definitely could have used you in a few fights.”
“I’m here now, man. Might as well put me to work, right?” Roman asked while he parked the car.
The way Dean’s face scrunched up in thought gave him a little bit of hope.
Someone wanting to work with him, wanting to prove themselves to him, was foreign to Dean. He was pretty sure that this ‘letting his brain heal’ business was just a plot to get him to trust Reigns. It wouldn’t have been so bad, except for the fact that he was bored and it was working, damn it.
After the third day on Roman’s couch, sitting in the air conditioning with the blinds closed, Dean felt like he was going to start foaming at the mouth. While he was brushing his teeth he debated staggering through the apartment with the toothpaste all over his mouth, making zombie noises. But no, he was an adult. Probably a bad idea. He rinsed his mouth out and wiped the toothpaste foam away. His fingers started up a tempo on the sink and he stood there, staring at himself in the mirror.
The bruise under his eye had been replaced by a few scrapes, his tongue still a little sensitive from how hard he had bit down on it. Dean sighed, checking his eyes like the trainer had told him. His pupils continued to react fine to the light. Dean knew he was a lucky bastard, getting out of that fight with nothing but a concussion and some nicks. The base of his neck was still more than tender and that worried him to an extent. Mostly because he couldn’t really see it to monitor the healing process.
Ambrose trotted down the hall to Roman’s room, knocking on the door before pushing it open. “Hey Reigns, I need you to check my neck real quick.”
Roman groaned, obviously still half-asleep as he nodded and wriggled a little closer to the edge of his bed. “M’kay, c’mere.”
Ambrose ducked down, expecting Roman to sit up and take a look. Instead, he felt a mouth press to the skin just below the area that was painful, the sensation making him freeze.
“There’s a bruise, but m’sure y’ already knew that. S’okay, I fixed it.” Roman waved a hand, flopping back down onto his mattress. “Still sleep time, Ambrose. Shh.”
Dean touched the back of his neck, his mouth slightly open. What the fuck. “Roman did you just…?”
Roman grabbed Dean’s arm, dragging the other man into an awkward, almost horizontal position in the bed beside him. “Shh, sleep.” Roman mumbled, clumsily petting over Dean’s mop of curly hair.
Dean knew this was stupid, that Roman was out of it and didn’t even know what he was doing. But that didn’t stop him from relaxing a fraction in the other man’s grip. And then a fraction more. “Reigns, y’need t’ let me go.” He said quietly after Roman made no move to release him.
Roman growled, sounding sulky. “Nuh.” He opened one eye to glare at Dean. “No way. Some other guy did that before.”
Dean stiffened. “Well I mean, that was more like he threw me in the trash, honestly.” He tried to smile, tried to make it a joke like it didn’t still hurt.
Roman curled up around Dean, nudging his face into Dean’s chest. “Not gonna’ happen again.” He slurred confidently. “I’ll kick his ass.”
Dean snickered. It was easier than crying. “I bet you will.”
“Seriously.” Roman propped himself up, looking a little more alert. “I’ll kick his ass.”
“You haven’t even seen-”
“I don’t need to.” Roman huffed. “I’ve worked with you. You trained me.”
“Maybe I am just as crazy as he says, man. Didja’ ever think of that?”
“I doubt it.”
Dean had promised himself that after Rollins, that was it. There was no more Shield, no more teamwork, nothing that could lead to him depending on someone and getting his body destroyed when they turned on him. Because he was unstable, and that was why he had clung to Seth so tight. Seth wasn’t crazy like him, Seth was smart and capable and miles less fucked-up. Dean might fight until his last gasp, but Rollins was the one who always pulled the trigger.
Little brother.
Dean hadn’t noticed the tears dripping down his cheeks, hadn’t meant to start crying. Just another fucked-up tidbit, he supposed. One more thing knocked loose.
Fingers were wiping Dean’s tears away, brown eyes fixed on his own worriedly. “Ambrose, did I say something wrong? Didn’t mean to.”
“Nah, it’s just…it’s been a while since anyone had anythin’ nice to say to me. I’m insane, you know.” Dean shrugged, waving his hands around to illustrate his lack of stability. “The ‘Lunatic Fringe’, the 'madman known as Dean Ambrose'. That’s me, a wild and crazy guy.”
Roman shook his head. “I don’t see that, man.”
“I’m touched, Reigns.”
“I don’t!” Roman insisted. Dean almost believed him. “Why would I lie to you? I’ve been upfront so far, haven’t I?”
“Mm, kinda’ wondering when you’re gonna’ dig the knife in between my shoulder blades, honestly.” Dean said, sounding totally serious. “How much more vulnerable do I have to be, man? I’m recovering from a concussion and you pulled me into your damn bed to snuggle. You’re a special brand of evil if you want me any lower than this.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me, man.” Roman groaned. “You’re lucky you’re concussed. I wanna’ give you the world’s baddest noogie for all the bullshit you’re spewing.”
“Kick the street dog while he’s down, huh? I see how it-” Dean never got to finish his sentence because Roman rolled on top of him, the larger man taking care not to rest too much of his weight on Ambrose.
“I ain’t Rollins.” Roman said slowly. His hands found Dean’s in the sheets. “You hearing me, Ambrose? Do I have your attention?”
Dean nodded once.
“I’m not Seth. I don’t think you’re crazy. Not by a long shot, okay? So put that shit to bed. You’re more than whatever he said you were.” Roman stated. “You can’t let that guy’s image of you become the only thing that matters. You’re so much more than a shitty gimmick, Ambrose.”
“I hate that you make shit sound true. It’s just gonna’ fuck me up more.” Dean whispered.
“Ambrose please listen to me.” Roman begged. “I’m not here to hurt you.”
“Don’t lie to me, Reigns. I swear to fuck, don’t you fucking lie to me. Just tell me I’m shit, tell me I don’t deserve anything and that I’m messed-up in the head.”
“What the fuck, Ambrose?” Roman wished his voice didn’t crack. “I’m…I mean Jesus man, what the fuck? No, I’m not gonna’ say any of that shit. Why would I?” Dean stared up at him defiantly. “Dammit Ambrose, come the fuck on.” When Dean just kept staring, Roman sighed heavily. “Okay, have it your way.” Pretending not to notice the defeated sag of Dean’s shoulders, Roman tucked his hair back behind his ears so he could actually see what he was doing. “Oh yeah, this guy beneath me is super fucked up.” Roman started, making sure he sounded as sarcastic as possible. “Yep, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He’s all kinds of terrible.”
Dean snorted, shoving Roman’s chest. “You asshole.”
“Guy takes a king-sized failed football player in as a favor to his dad, shows him the ropes so he can beat another huge shithead. What a dick, that Ambrose guy. Making sure other people are as safe as possible, dealing with all his own problems in his own way. Goddamn, that no-good son of a bitch.” Roman couldn’t keep the grin off his face at this point. “That motherfucker, that-”
Dean leaned up and pecked him on the lips, stopping Roman mid-tease. “You’re doing it wrong, man.”
“I dunno’, I got a kiss out of it so I think I’m doing it right.” Reigns smirked, feeling very satisfied with himself. “If I keep saying things I don’t mean, will I get another one? Or should I say things I actually do mean?”
“Like what?” Dean made a raspberry sound.
“Like this.” Roman pressed his mouth to Dean's collarbone, licking and gently nipping the area. He heard Ambrose's breath catch, felt the other man's fingers quickly wind into his hair. “You're worth it.” Roman whispered.
Dean groaned. “Reigns...”
Roman didn't bother to respond, continuing his way down Dean's chest. There were still small cuts and nicks on Dean's torso from the match and Roman took the time to kiss every one of them, loving the way Dean began arching himself up to his mouth. “You're not crazy.”
“I am though, I am, he said I--” Ambrose tried to protest but Roman mouthed over a scrape at the edge of his boxers, iron taste filling his mouth and suddenly Ambrose's voice got urgent. “Oh no, mmfuck, Roman, you...” Dean squirmed, his eyes wide when Roman pulled back to look. “I kinda' have...I mean I kinda' like...y'know.” Ambrose mumbled, tapping the spot on his hip. “S'good.”
“Oh?” Roman bit down then, still gentle but not nearly as gentle as before.
...
Dean gasped, fingers lacing together on the back of Roman's head and holding him still. “Oh fuck, yes, shit, Jesus Roman!” He cried, that pain warm and good in his stomach like it hadn't been for months, years.
Roman carried on tormenting him with his mouth, teeth harassing Dean's already-battered skin. He didn't ask whether he was alright, didn't ask whether he was too rough, and Dean realized dimly that it was because Reigns trusted him. Reigns knew he would let him know if he went too far.
Dean caressed Roman's hair, the gesture weirdly intimate for him even with the other man's mouth inches away from his very interested cock. “You dealt with pain kinks before, Reigns?” Dean asked boldly when he could think straight for a second.
Roman smirked against Dean's hip, tugging his boxers down. The wet, red-purple welt he left on Dean's skin seemed to speak for itself, and the way he took Dean's cock into his mouth without a second of hesitation spoke volumes towards other experiences.
“Fuck me, Roman goddamn Reigns.” Ambrose sighed, cupping Roman's cheek. “I can't even believe you're doing this right now, holy shit. I'm gonna' wake up any second.”
“You have wet dreams about me?” Roman asked curiously, pulling his mouth off Dean's cock for a second to pump his shaft lazily. He rumbled in his chest when Ambrose nodded, feeling a little embarrassed. “Good.”
“Fuck do you mean, g-oh Jesus--” Roman felt the need to display his approval with his throat, taking Dean all the way down to his base. Ambrose dug his fingers into Roman's hair, feeling the satisfied moan Reigns let out around his cock. “Oh, you too? Roman you are so fucked, you are so fucking fucked.” Dean half-snarled, half-laughed as he twisted his grip. Roman's whole body shuddered and Dean watched hungrily as Roman snuck a hand down to touch himself. “Fuck yes, Reigns, fuckin' fist your cock while you suck me off. Do it, do it, please please.” Dean couldn't decide whether he was ordering or begging, but it didn't really matter because Roman was going to jerk himself off either way.
Watching the muscles in Roman's shoulders and arms shift and roll as he moved was a grounding experience for Dean. Roman could easily slam him against a wall, shit, he could probably put him through a wall. But here Reigns was between his legs, in the other man's apartment no less, in his own bed. Making everything good and okay and not broken, not crazy at all. Even with the pain singing under his skin, the throb of bruises old and new, Ambrose was wholly content to grip Roman's hair and luxuriate in the sensation of knowing that Roman wanted him like this.
Dean looked like a vision in the weak morning sunlight, the blinds making shadow stripes across his chest and abdomen. The filth that poured out of his mouth certainly didn't hurt Roman's focus, the encouragement and the compliments on his technique only increasing Roman's need. He had himself propped up on one arm and his knees, the other hand working his cock with slow, even strokes as he just soaked in every hair-pull, every twitch of Dean's hips.
Ambrose suddenly shoved himself up, his hand groping hungrily over Roman's chest and then reaching lower at his belly to palm his dick. Reigns gasped at the change of angle and Dean began jerking him off quickly. “Want you to come.” Dean crooned, his body shivering. “Fuck, Roman, p-please, I want...fuckin' come for me, Reigns, need you to come, need you to come-” He panted, doubtless feeling the way Roman's cock twitched every time he said come. Dean's other hand gripped Roman's hair at the back of his head and dragged his mouth off his cock.
“Now, Dean? Huh? You gonna' come?” Roman growled, craning his neck to bite down hard on Ambrose's shoulder. Dean cried out and Reigns felt him writhe under him and Dean squeezed and Roman couldn't hold on any longer, grinding his hips down against Dean's as he came.
“Fuck.” Dean sighed after a minute or two of silence, his breathless chuckle sounding too high in Roman's ears as he slowly licked his fingers clean. Roman watched wordlessly, still trying to catch his own breath. “You are something fucking else, Roman Reigns. Hell if I know what, but damn you are something else.” Dean fell back against the mattress, groaning loudly. “Holy shit.”
“I'll take that as a compliment. Now, I think I had some important business to attend to.” Roman slid off to the side of Dean and pulled his back to his chest, ignoring Dean's drowsy protesting as he spooned the other man. “More sleep.”
“Hey...thank you.” Dean murmured.
Roman hushed him, starting to pet his hair again. “Sleep, Ambrose.”
“Seriously though, I mean-”
“Ambrose.”

Family Found Part 43: It’s Official
The last matches are set for Fastlane, including one that the Reader knows she’s going to regret.
Warnings/Promises: wrestling violence, Ambrose angst
Word Count: 2840 (Yay! Under 3000!)
Note: Holy fuzz, Roman is back! Which means that I can revert to my original WM plan. Wohoo! No need for the alternative with Brock Lesnar. Maybe. Mwahahaha. Okay. Obviously super excited. Enjoy this new chapter! (I’m such a nerd.)
Part 1: Welcome to the Team
Part 42: Business as Usual
Tumblr media
Monday Night Raw – March 4, 2019
The arena nearly lost its roof. Roman Reigns was in remission. He looked great. He was smiling. And the Big Dog was back in business. On his way up the ramp, Seth Rollin’s music hit. Dean came out too, nearly felling Roman in a hug. For old time’s sake, they stood shoulder to shoulder and observed the WWE universe cheering for them. Then Roman gave Seth a pat on the back and left with Dean to watch the match from the back.
Last week Mojo Rawley won the match that set him as the number one contender spot for the Universal Championship. But he only got it because you restarted the match as a no disqualification. And still only because Elias interfered while the referee’s back was turned, not that it would have mattered.
Seth knew all of this. But he had a match tonight. It wasn’t for the title. He wanted to see what Mojo had up his sleeve and was more than willing to give him the same courtesy. And then at Fastlane, they would figure out who was truly the best. Seth bit his lip and tightened his wrist straps while he watched the clip of what happened before the show started.
Walking in with a mountain of luggage, Seth bobbed in and out of techies. Dean suddenly arrived at his side. “If Mojo loses tonight, I get to face you at Fastlane, right?”
“What?” Seth sputtered. He screeched to a halt. “As far as I know, that’s not… tonight’s match isn’t his title match. It’s not till Sunday.”
Dean growled and rolled his eyes. “Then why are you fighting him tonight? You guys have fought each other before. Won’t be anything new.”
Seth chuckled. “Wouldn’t be anything new with you either, brother.”
With a smile, Dean rotated his shoulders. “That’s what you think. I’ve still got tricks up my sleeve that could take you.”
“And I’m sure Mojo is thinking the same way. Why shouldn’t I use tonight to try and make him slip up?” He nudged Dean’s shoulder. “I’m sorry, man. But I can’t help you out tonight.” He had to walk away. Anything instead of seeing Dean’s face drop. He stopped again but had to smile at Dean’s parting words.
“Hey, Seth. Roman and I will be keepin’ an eye on you tonight.”
Still, Mojo’s music was almost a relief. They got to it. Mojo indeed had a few things up his sleeves. He had a new submission move that caught Seth by surprise, trapping him against the canvas and denying him oxygen. Seth gasped and used the crowd’s encouragement to fight to his knees. They continued. As one would up his game, the other would up his as well. In the back, Dean and Roman nodded in appreciation.
Then the tides turned. Mojo landed a lucky hit to Seth’s formally injured knee. Then once he saw how much it slowed Seth down, he kept gunning for it. He dumped Seth to the outside, fighting to catch his own breath. It was a race between the pain and the referee’s ten count. The count won, giving Mojo the won by count-out. He nodded, accepting it and having his arm raised. While that wouldn’t help him win the title on Sunday, he had solidified his knowledge in Seth’s weak spot.
***
Dean and Roman finished watching Seth leaning his back against the side of the ring. Roman nodded that he was going to go help him, and Dean left in the other direction. He turned a corner and interrupted your thoughts over your phone. “Another stellar title defense by Seth Rollins. Oh, wait.” You couldn’t meet his eye and slid your phone into your pocket. “But then, we both know it’s a bunch of crap. If you hadn’t interfered last week, I could be champion right now.”
“You just keep telling yourself that.”
“Stop.” He leaned against the wall, blocking your escape path. “We need to talk about… what we both said last week. About the possible match.”
You shook your head. “You were the one that brought up the match last week. I was ready to drop it.” With a sigh, you tried to calm yourself. “We’re cousins, Dean. It shouldn’t… is this normal? This fighting and not understanding what each of us is trying to do?” Before he could spout something, you raised your hands in surrender. “I know what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to wrestle. You want to win championships. I get that. But you have to understand that I am seeing a much bigger picture. I’m trying to protect the legacy you built for yourself.”
“My-“ he laughed, “my legacy? If I was worried about a legacy I would still want to defend it. You keep saying that you’re trying to help. I’m not seein’ it. This isn’t help,” he motioned between you. “This is a problem. A problem that’s not gonna go away until one of us gives.”
You nodded. This wasn’t going anywhere. “Okay. Agreed. Then what? We have a match. Either I kick your ass or you kick mine, we’re still pissed off at each other. It doesn’t solve anything.”
Dean swayed away and back with a grin. “You kick my ass? Y/N, you couldn’t if you tried.”
“Oh, but you forget. I’ve been trained by the two guys who know you best.” Dean squinted at you while you crossed your arms. “Roman and Seth. Spears, the occasional curb stomp, superman punches, and dropkicks. Ha, I even went into the archives and learned some of your old moves. Way old. You probably wouldn’t even see them coming.” His short-lived lightheartedness sputtered out. You kept pushing. “And you helped train me for Survivor Series.” You looked away. “It seems like a lifetime ago.”
Dean nodded. “Yeah. Time moves like that ‘round here. One day you’re teaming with someone who’s your whole world, and the next you realize you didn’t really know them. Don’t worry, I’m kinda getting’ used to it.”
“I’m not Seth. And I’m not betraying you; I’m protecting you for reasons you-”
“This is the WWE, Y/N! I don’t need protecting. I need room to do my job, what I love to do. You could set the whole locker room on me and I would still fight my way through them. I don’t care what your reasons are.” He huffed and crossed his arms. “If the reasons are such a linchpin in this, tell me.” It was a demand. Either you had to answer this, or Fastlane just got a new grudge match.
“I… I can’t.”
His temples twitched as he tensed his jaw. “Okay. Then you know what you have to do. Set the match. Nothing on the line to win or lose. Since that seems to be the only kind of match you can give me. I won’t even bother you for one this week.” Dean walked away before you could say anything.
When had everything gotten out of control? Your goal had been to reunite with your cousin, not end up fighting him.
Still, you pulled out your phone and made a call. Swallowing, your voice cracked as you said, “it’s done. Make it official.” On the other end, you heard another order, one that made your shoulders slump. “Yes, sir.” You hung up.
***
Tamina and Nia Jax took control of the ring. Smugly, they looked over the crowd and laughed at the boos they were already receiving. “We beat the Riott Squad last week,” Tamina said.
They shared a laugh. Nia repeated her in a sing-song voice, “we beat the Riott Squad last week!”
“And as such, you all owe us some respect.” Tamina paced from one side of the ring to the other in front of Nia. “We have been the dominant team on Raw since before the tag titles were announced. You guys have no idea how many matches were changed because teams would back out of matches instead of facing us, women to women.” She stopped. “So we’ve got a little plan to up the stakes. To ‘earn’ what is already ours.”
Nia stepped up and placed her hand on Tamina’s shoulder. “As we see it, and as Y/N has made official, by beating the Riott Squad last week, we became the number one contenders for the tag titles and will face them at Fastlane. But. This is the age of the fighting champions.” Nia pseudo-bowed at the waist. “And we are willing to put that on the line for any team in that locker room. Any.”
“So come out, come out, whichever of you dare.” Tamina handed her mick to Nia, who tossed them towards the bel box.
They sniggered as Alicia Fox and Mickie James came out to Alicia’s music. Their halting steps seemed odd until they broke apart, revealing Alexa Bliss pushing them onto the stage. She frowned at them, motioning for them to keep moving. The women rolled back their shoulders and did as they were told. Alexa retreated backstage.
Tamina and Nia had control for most of the match. They gleefully switched tags as quickly as they could, boxing Mickie James in their corner. She was scrapping the bottom on her energy reserves and Alicia scurried across the ring to break up a pin. Alicia faced up to Nia, who was quickly joined by Tamina. They didn’t try to hit her as she wasn’t legal, but they didn’t realize until it was too late that the stand-off had given Mickie enough time to crawl to the corner. Alicia rushed back and tagged in. Both of the number one contenders had used a lot of energy to break down Mickie. That plan had backfired.
The new plan was to stay afloat, which worked for a good while. Unfortunately, the damage was done. Foxy made a quick exit from the ring as the bell rang after a roll-up that pinned Nia. Mickie went with her, lifting her arm in the air and beaming through the exhaustion.
***
For the final spot in the tag triple threat, the Revival was facing the team of Chad Gable and Bobby Roode. About halfway through the match, Dr. M appeared in the bell box. He didn’t interfere, but he walked around the ring. All four participants kept a wary eye on his movements, only half attacking one another until he walked backwards up the ramp and out of the arena. The Revival won the match, but they didn’t celebrate much. Even Gable and Roode had their attention focused on where Dr. M disappeared. Even more worrying, was the absence of AOP.
***
Backstage, Ruby Riott was finishing up the last of her shadowboxing. Alexa Bliss, having seen Ruby lose to Nia Jax last week, knew an opportunity when she saw one. Ruby’s place in Fastlane was set. But if Alexa beat her tonight, well, then her path was open to WrestleMania.
“We can be out there, ya know.” Liv Morgan swung her legs from her seat on a crate. “Alexa is slippery. Lives up to it.”
Sarah Logan nodded. “You don’t have to face her alone. We’ve got your back.”
“Like I had your back last week?” Ruby shivered to a stop. “I appreciate it… but I’m going to be facing Ember alone on Sunday. I need to win this fight alone as well. To prove that I can to the WWE universe… and to me,” she added at a whisper. While she grabbed her jacket, she missed the sad shared look between Liv and Sarah. “I’ll catch up after.”
Her teammates watched in silence as she walked away.
Alexa entered the arena first, still riding the high of her friends winning their match against Nia and Tamina. She was smiling brightly. Confident. Proud just to the cusp of excessive. She paused halfway down the ramp to take a breath and to put on her game face. Her expression became a hard slab of cold marble. Something for Ruby to break her fingers on.
Ember Moon walked out on stage. She gave the audience a wave and joined the commentary table. “Hey, guys. Thank you. Glad to be here.”
Then Ruby entered. She grinned and sneered as usual, but it was missing the usual bitter edge. It continued to be missing as the match began. Alexa took advantage of the gaps in Ruby’s attacks and defenses. A particularly hard bounce off the edge of the apron made Ms. Bliss crow in victory. She let her feet dangle off the edge while Ruby tried to recover on the floor.
“What happened to you?” she asked. “I thought you were going to take the roster by storm. Yet, you seem to keep coming up short.”
“You would know about short things,” Ruby spat. She made it to her feet but caught a kick to the face that sent her back to the floor.
“Don’t interrupt.” Alexa flipped her hair over her shoulder. “I know what happened. You helped your friends get the tag titles, and now you can't seem to win your own gold. Oh well. So much for Riott domination.” She climbed the ring post as Ruby made it to her feet again. With a Twisted Bliss, she sent Ruby to the floor for the third time, then rolled her into the ring. Ruby kicked out with a scream.
Ember had some thoughts about Ruby’s bad couple of weeks. “An angry Ruby is a dangerous Ruby. First, she lost to Nikki Cross. Then to Nia last week. If she loses to Alexa tonight, I think it will be the last straw. She’s going to go ballistic.” Ember stroked the leather of the championship. “Just seeing the title does something to you. It… ignites a power in your blood you didn’t know you had. On Sunday, when the referee holds this title up in the air, I know Ruby is going to get hit with that power surge. I’ve been riding for over a month. I’ll have to be careful that it doesn’t stutter out. And watch my back leading up to Sunday. I wouldn’t put it past Ruby not to try something to weaken me before we get to Fastlane.” She flinched as Ruby dropped Alexa off the turnbuckles.
Corey leaned across the table to hold her attention. “What happens if she does beat you?”
She eased back in her chair. And smiled. “I wanted to hold this championship for at least eighty days. As of Wednesday, I’ll have reached that goal.” Her smile brightened, denying that fate. “But maybe I’ve got one more surprise in me. Maybe I can stretch it out to a hundred.”
If the way Ruby took another Twisted Bliss was any indication of how Sunday would go, Ember was going to fulfill her wish. Ruby wasn’t able to kick out again. Alexa was even possible to go as far as posing with her foot on Ruby’s stomach. During her exit, she shot a cold smile at Ember as a warning.
***
Drew McIntyre was confused when Braun Strowman answered the open challenge. “What are ya doin’ out here, Braun? You are neither Finn Balor nor Dolph.” He snorted. “What you’d do to them?”
The monster among men shrugged away the accusation. “I thought this was an open challenge. Open usually means that anyone can answer. I didn’t do anything to Finn or your buddy Dolph. This time.”
Overhead, the Titantron came to life with a video of what was happening backstage. Trainers had helped Finn to sit up and braced against a wall. His legs stretched out in front of him on the floor, blocking the hallway. They had him lean forward so they could see the back of his neck and upper back. The camera caught the view of some bright red welts already beginning to form. While Finn groaned, another clatter of backstage equipment echoed down the hallway. Some trainers broke off. Dolph was now laid out across the floor, writhing in pain. They called for more help as Elias whistled in the background. He was mostly in shadow, but the hall lights glinted off the fractured edges of his guitar.
Braun shook his head. “Okay, so I knew about Finn. But Dolph was just taken out. I was out here.” Innocently, he flattened his hand on his chest. “So, it couldn’t have been me.” With a sneer, he dropped the mic and made his way down to the ring. He entered the ring and nodded at the referee, who hesitantly reached for the Intercontinental title in Drew’s hands. He reluctantly handed it over.
The title stipulation was called, and then the bell rang. At the end of the show, Drew retained his title. Braun was pinned cleanly, though that didn’t stop the monster from rising to glare at Drew as the champion stood on the ramp. Nor did Drew’s smug holding his title in the air dissipate Braun’s mutterings of future plans.

Royal Rumble 2017 Predictions
This post will detail the storylines leading into all the matches for the Royal Rumble 2017 card, as well as my predictions for these matches.
Pre-Show:
Cesaro and Sheamus(c) vs. The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson) for the RAW Tag-Team Titles in a ‘two referees are present’ match Why this match is on the Pre-Show I have no idea. This is a fantastic match to have to open the show. Anyway, Cesaro and Sheamus are fantastic as a team. They were a great choice for the team to end The New Days reign, and their dynamic is something fresh that we haven’t seen for a while. These two started off having a best-of-seven series, the last match of which was incredible and have since found their footing as a tag team. The Club is one of my favourite tag teams at the moment in WWE, their music is great, their aesthetic is great, their promo skills (particularly Anderson) when not being fed crap like the Old Day is great, and their in-ring work in incredible due to the massive amount of time they spent in Japan. Before Sheamus and Cesaro emerged, these guys were my pick to end New Day’s tag title reign. This match is mostly a simple title match. There have been some shenanigans the past few weeks in their singles matches, and particularly in their title match where The Club won the titles before Cesaro and Sheamus were disqualified for attacking the ref and retained the titles.
My Pick: The Club (Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson).  Cesaro and Sheamus’ animosity hasn’t been played up in recent weeks, so I don’t think this will factor much into them losing the match, however the dominance the club has displayed recently leads me to think that they would just look weak to not win cleanly here. With two refs it is harder to have a dusty finish, and as such I think Cesaro and Sheamus will drop the titles here, although I could see these guys continuing the feud until Mania.
Nia Jax vs. Sasha Banks Nia Jax made a statement by legitmately injuring Bayley and denying her her rematch against Asuka, taking the spot at TakeOver: The End. She lost to Asuka and since coming to the main roster has been booked as a monster heel. She’s strong, but she’s still very much a B player to the top of the RAW women’s roster. Sasha Banks just got out of an incredible feud with Charlotte for the Women’s title, which saw the belt swap back and forth between them. She’s an incredible wrestler, often taking cues from Eddie Gurerro, and she’s great on the mic too. She has an injured knee going into this match, a remnant of her last match with Charlotte. Sasha has been off for a few weeks with an injury, and recently Nia Jax attacked Sasha’s knee during a performance review, and beat her in a tag match which saw Sasha compete with the knee broken. Nia wants to make a statement and Sasha wants to prove that she can still put up a fight even when she’s hurt.
My Pick: Nia Jax. Sasha doesn’t lose a whole lot by eating a pin here, she’s got a bum leg, she’s just come off an intense feud with Charlotte and she’s recuperating. Nia has a lot to gain however. She started out taking on jobbers and hasn’t had a meaningful feud with anyone at the top of the card yet, so taking down Sasha would be a good rub for her.
Alexa Bliss, Mickie James and Natalya vs. Becky Lynch, Nikkia Bella and Naomi in a 6-woman tag match This match is one that should definitely be on the pre-show. There’s nothing at stake, no side really loses in a 6-man tag and no story here is probably going to be advanced. The only real story going into this is Mickie James’ return. On the go-home show she cut a pretty good promo aligning herself with Alexa Bliss, who has been feuding with Becky ever since she took Becky’s title. Naomi also wants a shot at the title, and Nikki Bella and Natalya are in an ongoing feud.
My Pick: Alexa Bliss, Mickie James and Natalya. I think the heel team will take this as a showcase of Mickie James. We saw that she is still very good in the ring in her match against Asuka at TakeOver Toronto, but the mainstream crowd has yet to see her compete after her return. Establishing Mickie James and Alexa Bliss as a dominant duo will do well for the story, and give them both good heat.
Main Card:
Rich Swann(c) vs. Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship Rich Swann was a great choice to take the title in the debut episode of 205Live. He has a fun gimmick and can give a decent promo, though he still needs a little work in that department. Neville is an incredible performer in the ring, and recently with his heel turn has become the single best thing about the Cruiserweight division. I’d never seen Neville’s promo ability while he was playing face, but he has a perfect face to be a heel and his accent compliments it stellarly. His claim to be the King of the Cruiserweights is founded on solid ground. Neville has been absolutely devastating the Cruiserweight division as of late. He has taken down both former champions TJ Perkins and Brian Kendrick, and I don’t think he has lost a match since his turn. Rich Swann has been booked strong, but personally I think his time is up as champion for now.
My Pick: Neville. This is the closest thing to a lock on this card. Neville has been so strong recently, and he absolutely needs to win this in order to keep looking strong. If anyone can manage to look realistic as they take his title, it will be an amazing rub for them. Bonus points if he comes out next week wearing the belt around his head like a crown.
Charlotte Flair(c) vs. Bayley for the RAW Women’s Championship Charlotte has been a dominant heel ever since she won the diva’s title. She has a 15 PPV-win streak, was the other half of the amazing feud with Sasha Banks, and is great in all respects. Bayley is the most relatable person on the roster right now. Super over with the fans, and an adorable gimmick and promo style, she’s definitely next in line for this title. The lead-up to this match involved Bayley getting a few wins over Charlotte while she was still feuding with Sasha, and taking a claim to the title now that Sasha has stepped out of the picture. Charlotte has been tormenting Bayley recently about her life-long fandom of the WWE, and Bayley has been getting super over because of it.
My Pick: Charlotte Flair. Charlotte should continue her PPV winning streak here. This is Bayley’s first match for the title, and she still needs to earn her win in the eyes of the fans (even though she’s one of the best on the entire roster). This makes a lot more sense for Bayley to lose to Charlotte until Wrestlemania where she can finally break the Queen’s winning streak and have a huge Wrestlemania moment that is great for every fan as well.
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship in a ‘Chris Jericho Suspended above the ring in a Shark Cage, No Disqualification’ match Kevin Owens has been champion since shortly after Finn Balor vacated the title due to injury right after Summerslam. He won it in a Fatal 4-Way with Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass, as Triple H handed him the title. Since Battleground he’s been best friends with Chris Jericho and the two have been a nearly unstoppable duo, with Jericho helping Owens win most of his title matches through interference. Roman Reigns recently lost his US championship to Chris Jericho, putting him in prime position to reclaim the top belt on RAW. After his suspension just before Battleground he seemed to get somewhat de-pushed, but now he’s back at the top of the card and ready to headline shows once again. The story leading into this match has been long and slow, although not without it’s interesting moments. Before Reigns, Rollins was gunning for Owens’ title, and before the stipulation of this match being a No-DQ match, I was certain Roman was going to win. The only reason I can see them having added the No-DQ match is to protect Roman if he loses. Two world title changes in one show is a lot. Even though the Rumble is one of WWE’s big four, it’s not Wrestlemania so I find it hard to believe both title’s will change hands. This is something of a tough call.
My Pick: Kevin Owens. I think there’s enough working against Roman that he could conceivably lose this match. Chris Jericho can definitely interfere now that the match is No-DQ, and they might be wanting to save Roman’s title win for Mania. I can however absolutely see Roman winning this as well.
AJ Styles(c) vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship AJ Styles has had one of the best first years of anyone in WWE. He wrestled Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania, competed for the WWE Title soon after, then entered into a program with Cena, beat him clean at Summerslam, and has since been the WWE Champion. John Cena is the institution of WWE, and the clear heel in this feud. He has been showing AJ major disrespect and not giving the fans any reason to cheer him, apart from his long heritage in the company, and his entertaining in-ring work. This match came about with Cena coming back and simply saying he wanted a title shot. Getting the title here means he would tie Ric Flair’s record for the most World Championship reigns, which would allow him to easily break it at a later date, and Cena having the title gives him a lot of options for people to feud with if someone from Smackdown wins the Rumble.
My Pick: John Cena. When in doubt, always bet on Cena because Cena wins. I’d love to see AJ carry the belt til Mania, but his reign has been long enough for a first reign for a guy of his caliber. This is a huge toss-up, I could see Cena wanting his big win to come at Wrestlemania, but I can also see him wanting to take the belt now, which would make the Rumble pretty special. Either way this should be a great match.
The Royal Rumble Match: First, here’s the list of confirmed entrants: Goldberg Brock Lesnar Big E Kofi Kingston Xavier Woods Chris Jericho Braun Strowman Baron Corbin The Undertaker (not assigned to one brand) Dean Ambrose (second time entering both the Royal Rumble PPV and the Royal Rumble match as IC Champion) The Miz Dolph Ziggler Cesaro Sheamus Bray Wyatt Randy Orton Luke Harper Big Show Sami Zayn (recently took Seth Rollins’ entry into the Rumble) Big Cass Rusev Mojo Rawley (Won a Battle Royale on Smackdown Live this past week)
There are 8 spots which have yet to be claimed, and all of the NXT roster is reportedly going to be backstage for the show.
I have a few predictions here.
Unnanounced Entrants: Tye Dillinger (at number 10) Samoa Joe Pete Dunne Bo Dallas Cedric Alexander R-Truth/Goldust James Ellsworth Heath Slater
Winner: Samoa Joe. I think this would be a fantastic rub for Samoa Joe, debuting at the top of the company, headlining Wrestlemania, and most importantly I really want it to happen.
5 People I’d be okay with winning otherwise: Sami Zayn: This would simply be incredible. Sami can have a great match with anyone at the top of the card, and hearing his music play at the end of the show as he points to the Wrestlemania sign would be an incredible feel-good moment. Bray Wyatt: This only works if he continues in his feud against Randy Orton. Orton winning the Rumble would also be good, but would likely mean that Orton would take the title off him at Mania, and I’d prefer to see the huge blow-off of Wyatt and Orton (which will definitely happen at Mania) to be for the title, and for Bray to take it on the grandest stage on them all. Chris Jericho: This answer also has a caveat, and it will never happen, but I’d love if he continued in his planned feud with Kevin Owens, and they feuded for the US Title in the Main Event, perhaps if they even had a Title vs. Title match where the winner becomes a dual Champion if Owens keeps the Universal title until then. The Undertaker: The Undertaker has some many fantastic oppurtunities for great matches at Wrestlemania. He could feud with Cena for the belt, or with AJ or even Samoa Joe if he wins the WWE Championship. The other huge possibility is him facing off against Finn Balor, which would be an incredible supernatural-off, and with Finn being such a great worker this match could be gold, especially if Finn takes the Universal Championship back right after the Rumble. I hope he doesn’t win if he’s going to feud with Reigns however. Baron Corbin: Lastly, Baron Corbin. I think this could be the start an interesting push for Corbin. I don’t know if he could realistically challenge for the title and have anyone believe he would win, against guys like Cena and AJ, he’s still slightly below their level, however it would be a very interesting turn to say the least.
Let me know what you guys think of the Rumble and I’ll see you on Monday with a recap and results.

Survivor Series preview
Brock Lesnar vs. AJ Styles - Lesnar is the WWE universal champion, the top titleholder on Raw; Styles is the WWE world heavyweight champion, the top titleholder on Smackdown.  Neither title is at stake.  This started out with Jinder Mahal as world champion challenging Lesnar, but then Mahal lost his title to Styles and now has to watch from backstage.
The situation with Jinder almost overshadows this match, because he was WWE’s big project (to turn a total jobber into a dominant world champion and the face of their expansion into India), and now he’s not even booked for the biggest show of the fourth quarter.  The only real hook to this match when it was Brock vs. Jinder was that WWE was stubbornly determined to protect both guys over all objections, and suddenly that’s out the window.  It makes you wonder what’s going on behind the scenes, although the only story anyone has heard is that everybody just decided Styles and Lesnar would simply deliver a better performance.
I’m not really hyped to see this because I don’t expect Styles has a chance in hell of beating Lesnar, or even coming close.  All of Brock’s matches since Wrestlemania have been disappointing, and that was with the spectacle of seeing him fight guys big enough to bully him back.  Styles is barely a heavyweight, and although WWE could book a guy that small to be competitive against Brock, history suggests that they won’t.
Raw vs. Smackdown 10-man elimination tag team match - In keeping with Survivor Series tradition, the loser of each fall is eliminated and must go backstage while his partners continue without him.  The match can only end when one (or both) teams is completely eliminated.
The Raw side is:
Kurt Angle (team captain/Raw general manager)
Triple H
Finn Balor
Samoa Joe
Braun Strowman
The Smackdown side is:
Shane McMahon (team captain/Smackdown commissioner)
John Cena
Randy Orton
Shinsuke Nakamura
Bobby Roode
It’s a pretty stacked lineup, considering all the champions are booked in other matches. The Raw side has 28 world titles between them, while the Smackdown side has 35.  Several one-on-one combinations could be considered dream matches; some have already happened and been considered very good.
The main storyline heading into this has been the increasing pressure on Angle to defend Raw from Smackdown, as his boss (commissioner Stephanie McMahon) has returned to TV to chew him out.  At one point Kurt had assigned his (kayfabe) son Jason Jordan to the team, only for Stephanie’s husband Triple H to beat Jordan up and take the spot in a show of no confidence.  It’s been heavily implied that Angle will lose his spot as general manager if his team loses this match.
Last year’s version of this match lasted almost an hour, evidently to make avoid the problem of rapid eliminations making the wrestlers look unusually weak.  This year’s lineup would probably be protected at least as much, if not more.  It would be extremely weird if, say Samoa Joe got taken out after five minutes with a clothesline or something, and he’s probably the most expendable guy in the match.  So hopefully this’ll be an epic war, to pay off the hype surrounding a month of big “Raw and Smackdown brawl all over the building” angles.
I wouldn’t count on the match setting up and story beats for the future, although it’d make some sense if Jason Jordan got involved (possibly at his own side’s expense), or for something to raise tensions between Triple H and Kurt Angle.  John Cena is technically a free agent with no allegiance to either side, so that could factor in somehow.  WWE has done shockingly little with the Strowman vs. Kane feud since Strowman was crushed to death in a trash compactor, so I gotta figure Kane will run in to cause Braun’s elimination.
It’s genuinely hard to pick an outcome here, because of all the chaos that is assured.  You’d figure the team with Shane is at a serious disadvantage, but a few key disqualifications or count-outs could change that real quick.  All things being equal, if Angle is going to keep wrestling here and there to set up a Wrestlemania match, it’d make the most sense for him to have his hand raised at the end.
Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose vs. Big E & Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods - Roman, Seth, and Dean dominated WWE as the Shield from 2012 until their breakup in 2014.   Shortly thereafter, Kofi, Big E, and Xavier formed the New Day and quickly became the definitive trio in WWE.  Now the Shield are back on Raw, while the New Day is on Smackdown, and we’re doing a bunch of Raw/Smackdown fights.  So we get a dream match between the two biggest factions of 2010s WWE.
The match was set up by the New Day doing a distraction to cost Seth and Dean the Raw tag team title, which iced them out of the “tag champs vs. tag champs” match on this show and effectively freed them up for this.  Roman has just recently come back from some viral infection that kept him out of the planned Shield reunion last month, so this is a pretty decent make good.  It’s not the way I’d have wanted to set up this match, but I’m glad we’re getting it.
The Shield specializes in facing ad hoc trios that can’t match them in terms of teamwork and cooperation.  They’ve rarely faced a full-time trio that can truly match them at that game like the New Day.  On the other hand, the New Day specializes in two-on-two programs with the advantage of always having a third guy providing backup.  They haven’t dealt with their opponents finding reinforcements to even the odds as much as the Shield has, so a six-man tag against a well-oiled machine could give them trouble.  I’d like to see the psychology of the match demonstrate all this, but I’m not holding my breath.  I’ll settle for Dean trying to break Xavier’s trombone or something.
Since all the plans for the Shield reunion in October got shot to hell, it’d be absolutely insane for them to lose now.  That sucks because I’d prefer a scenario where either team could plausibly win, but the New Day can be as entertaining in defeat as they are in victory.
Alexa Bliss vs. Charlotte Flair - Bliss is the Raw women’s champion and Flair is the Smackdown women’s champion; neither title is on the line.  The match was originally announced as Alexa vs. Natalya until Charlotte dramatically won the Smackdown women’s title in her hometown and celebrated with her father (who is recovering from a health scare).  So Charlotte’s on a roll and she’s clearly a company favorite with friends in high places.  On the other hand, WWE has such a weird boner for Alexa so I think she’s just gonna win.
Raw vs. Smackdown 10-woman elimination tag team match - This is the second of two traditional Survivor Series matches.
The Raw side is:
Alicia Fox (team captain)
Nia Jax
Sasha Banks
Asuka
Bayley
The Smackdown side is:
Becky Lynch (team captain)
Naomi
Carmella
Tamina
Natalya
This amounts to “all the women on Raw but Mickie James and Dana Brooke” versus “all the women on Smackdown but Lana.”  (Theoretically Paige and Nikki Bella are still out there, somewhere, but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for them to show up here.)
Historically, women’s Survivor Series matches have suffered from being too short, too sloppy, or too dull.  However, this is probably the strongest lineup WWE has ever booked, so they could probably give us a good match.  Whether WWE will let them do a good match remains to be seen.  I suspect this is going to get 15 minutes and half the falls are going to feel rushed and pointless.
The Raw side pretty much has to win, if only to preserve the mystique of Asuka’s win streak.  (If she’s counted out here, nobody will consider it a blemish on her record, but there’s no good reason to even go there.)  You’ll notice I’m picking Raw to sweep all the matches that actually matter.
Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso - Shesaro are the Raw tag team champions and the Usos are the Smackdown tag team champions; neither title is at stake.  Both teams have always been good and both seem to have turned it up a little lately, so maybe that’s why they switched this from Ambrose/Rollins vs. Usos a couple of weeks ago.  Smackdown really needs something to crow about so I’m thinking this match will be one of them.  Usos win.
The Miz vs. Baron Corbin - Miz is the intercontinental champion on Raw, and Corbin is the United States champion on Smackdown.  This isn’t for either title.  Both guys suck and their only skill is cutting internet message board promos that make their opponents look shitty.  So it’s a battle of two guys who suck at everything but making each other look like they suck even more.  Hell, Dave Meltzer called this his bathroom break match.  I may go to the bathroom and take a shower just to make sure I don’t accidentally come back in time to actually see any of this.  Fuck both guys.
Enzo Amore vs. Kalisto - Amore is defending the cruiserweight championship on the pre-show, in the only title fight on the entire card.  Kalisto has already beaten Amore and dropped the title back to him, so this is the rubber match.  I’m pretty sure we’re about to be done with this feud and Amore is moving on to the next challenger, so he should make short work of Kalisto.

ARD Entry #6 - Wrestlemania 33 Predictions And Picks
I haven't done one of these in a while, so if you'll indulge me, I'm going to write a disgustingly long entry about Wrestlemania 33 and give my picks for who I think will win these predetermined matches of a so-called fake sport.
Before I get started on the picks, though, I will say that this show has a thoroughly impressive card. To me, it almost feels as though none of the matches should be pushed to the pre-show, since it almost feels disrespectful to the performers involved.  This is especially apparent for the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, since Big Show worked his ass off to get into amazing shape for his purported match with Shaquille O'Neal, only for the match to be scrapped.  So Show is relegated to the pre-show in what must be one of his final matches.  I can't imagine how his body is holding up after twenty years in the business.  So I'm a bit disappointed that there even has to be a pre-show at all. I would have rather had a five hour main card than a two hour pre-show with two matches and 90 minutes of filler.  But that's me.
With that being said, let's look at the card and make some predictions!
Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
I remember hearing someone saying that this was the most stacked battle royal in a long time.  Well, let's take a look at the competitors...we have Big Show, Braun Strowman, Sami Zayn, Mark Henry, Mojo Rawley...uh...Jinder Mahal...erm...the entirety of the Smackdown tag division...okay, so this match has like three people who could feasibly win the match and about two dozen jobbers.  I'm disappointed enough that the Smackdown tag titles aren't even being defended.  Really, though, those titles have fallen into obscurity ever since the Wyatt Family lost them to American Alpha late last year.  I'll get into THAT storyline later on.  So the vast majority of this match is full of jobbers and tag teams.  Which means that there are probably only one or two possible winners here: Big Show or Braun Strowman.  I'd like to give Sami Zayn a chance of winning, but I feel like Braun is just going to eliminate him.  And seeing as how, out of all of these competitors, Braun likely has the most to gain out of winning this match, I will give him the nod for the victory.
Winner: Braun Strowman
Cruiserweight Championship Match – Neville vs. Austin Aries
While I think the apparently annual tradition of the Wrestlemania ladder match should have gone to the cruiserweights, this is a very suitable substitute.  I'm rather saddened that this is a pre-show match, since it continues the feeling that the cruiserweight division is treated as second-class citizens in the company.  But I will attempt to focus on the match. These two have built up a fairly strong feud over the past few weeks, and Aries has looked spectacular since his return to active in-ring competition.  And ever since adopting his heel persona, Neville has been better than ever and finally relevant in the company after being neglected for such a long time.  If you want to talk about show-stealing matches, this has the potential for that so long as they're given fifteen minutes or so.  If not, it will feel like a rush job, and that is yet another disappointment for the cruiserweight division.  So who wins?  My heart wants to go with Neville, because the cruiserweight division has been very unstable ever since its inception last year, what with there having been four champions over the course of seven months.  I feel like Neville could provide the stability at the top of the division that the other competitors desperately need.  Then again, with Neville already having gone through two of the top faces in the division (Rich Swann and Jack Gallagher) and Cedric Alexander out with an injury, it would probably make more sense to put the title on Aries, since he could feud with guys like Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, and The Brian Kendrick, among others.  So I suppose I'm going to pick Austin Aries to win, because Wrestlemania is usually about feel good moments, and this would be a great one.
Winner: Austin Aries
Smackdown Women's Championship Six Pack Challenge Match – Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Mickie James vs. Naomi vs. Natalya vs. Carmella
The fact that it took until the week before Mania to decide on the stipulation for this match is unfortunate.  For weeks, this match was so nebulous that I wished they would have just called it a gauntlet match or, hell, even a women's ladder match.  But at least we all got some peace of mind with Naomi making her return to the ring, which, considering she had to relinquish the title less than two months ago, makes things feel a bit wonky.  Still, I'm glad that the women of Smackdown had their match moved to the main card thanks to overwhelming fan support. Women are taking part in three matches this year, which is seemingly far more than in previous years.  Sure, one of those matches is a mixed tag match, but still, it's a step in the right direction.  I just wish that one of the title matches would have been a singles match as opposed to a fatal four way and a six pack challenge.  But it's better to have as many of these awesome, talented women on the card as possible.  So who wins this match?  I'm quite certain Alexa Bliss won't be retaining her title today.  And as much as I'd like to see either Mickie or Natalya win, since there have been rumblings that both women may be winding down their careers in the next couple of years, I feel like the hometown advantage will be the way to go despite how WWE always seems to make people lose matches in their hometowns.  Naomi shouldn't have had to relinquish the title in the first place, and I'm betting she'll win the title back at Mania.
Winner: Naomi
By the way, I should probably mention that I'm taking my match list off Wikipedia, so if something has changed or is inaccurate, I do apologize.
Raw Tag Team Title Triple Threat Ladder Match – Gallows and Anderson vs. Enzo and Cass vs. Sheamus and Cesaro
I really hope WWE isn't going to try to capture the lightning in a bottle they had with the Triangle Ladder Match they had many years ago with the Hardyz, the Dudleys, and Edge and Christian, because that will never happen again.  However, this should still be a pretty good match.  Enzo seems to always love flying around the ring, so I'm expecting at least one spot where he either leaps off a ladder or is tossed off one.  And we all know how ridiculously athletic Cesaro is, so I'd imagine he'll have a spot or two to show off.  All that being said, I still don't feel like this feud has the fire and intensity behind it that others do.  Ever since The New Day lost the belts, the Raw tag division has felt adrift in a sea of uncertainty.  Not even remotely close to the level of the poor Smackdown tag division, but still, there isn't any stability in the division.  While chaos might sometimes be a good thing (like in the Smackdown women's division, where it feels like every competitor there is on relatively equal footing and any one of them could win the title on any given night), ever since The New Day broke the record for longest reigning tag champs in WWE history, the titles have felt a bit less important.  Not that Sheamus and Cesaro or the Club are bad teams.  Sheamus and Cesaro have turned into one of the most entertaining teams in the world today, and the Club are pretty much THE heel team in WWE right now.  I just kind of wish that The New Day had held on to the titles until Mania (or at least the Rumble) and lost the titles at one of the major shows.  But oh well. As much as I'd like to see Gallows and Anderson retain, I have a weird feeling that Enzo and Cass are going to walk out as Raw Tag Team Champions.  I'm a bit sick of their schtick, but maybe putting the titles on them will bring them back to prominence.
Winners: Enzo Amore and Big Cass
Intercontinental Championship Match – Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin
One year ago, Baron Corbin shocked everyone by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal as a seemingly random entrant, while Dean Ambrose had a shitfest match against Brock Lesnar.  Since then, Ambrose has been WWE Champion and has held the IC belt for far longer than necessary.  After that fantastic feud between Dolph Ziggler and The Miz last year, having Ambrose hold the belt for as long as he has has basically helped us forget that the title even exists.  I actually cannot remember the last time Ambrose defended the title.  It wasn't defended at either the Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber, since Ambrose was a participant in the Rumble and the Chamber matches.  Corbin, on the other hand, has had a slow but steady build to this point.  He started out as Just Another Big Dude, but has found his footing in recent months, and both his in ring work and promo skills have improved drastically.  Six months ago, when JBL kept yelling that Baron Corbin would be a future world champion, I scoffed at the idea. Now that Corbin is heading into an IC title match with Ambrose in what has been a pretty well-built feud, I could feasibly see Corbin winning a world title in the next two years.  But the journey to the world title begins with the IC title.  Baron Corbin HAS to win this match.  And I believe he will.
Winner: Baron Corbin
Mixed Tag Team Match – John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse
Say what you will about the motivations behind this match, but it has been built up surprisingly well.  The Total Bellas parody vignettes, while incredibly dorky, I found quite amusing.  Maryse has really been the shining star of this whole feud. Back when she was an in-ring competitor, she just felt like just another model turned poorly trained wrestler.  But ever since she returned, she's been a surprising breath of fresh air.  She's a strong independent woman who don't take no guff and stands up for her man when he won't stand up for himself.  She's a badass, and I respect the hell out of her for that.  Miz and Cena have had some blistering back and forth promos over the past month, and while Miz has always had great points and moments, it's basically impossible to hold a candle to Cena in the promo department.  Say what you will about his in-ring style or the fact that he definitely has a particular cadence and formula to his promos, but he can turn a crowd at the drop of a hat.  He might actually be the best talker in wrestling history not named Paul Heyman.  This should be a pretty entertaining match, but I think we all know what's going to happen. Cena and Bella win, and Cena proposes to Nikki in front of 70,000 people.  If that doesn't happen, I'll be a bit surprised, but it really feels like that's what this entire feud has been leading towards.  So I suppose we'll all see what happens, but Cena and Bella are definitely picking up the win.
Winners: John Cena and Nikki Bella
United States Championship Match – Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens
Jericho vs. Owens could very well be an early candidate for feud of the year in my book.  Their Festival of Friendship was the crowning moment in this friendship-turned-blood-feud that we all knew was going to happen but never knew WHEN it was going to happen.  Personally, I would have preferred to see these two feud over the Universal Title, but that's me.  And with the winner of the Universal Title match being a part-timer anyway no matter who wins, it's going to mean that, just like right after the brand split before the Universal Title was created, the US Title was the top title on Raw.  And seeing as how Owens carried the Universal Title for six months (say what you will about how he kept the title, it's still an impressive feat to hold a title for this long nowadays), he'd be the perfect person to hold what will essentially be the top title on Raw for the foreseeable future.  Besides, Jericho is going on tour with his band, so this will be a great blowoff to a stellar feud.
Winner: Kevin Owens
I'm halfway through the card.  I may be able to finish writing this entry by the time Summerslam rolls around.
Raw Women's Championship Fatal Four Way Elimination Match – Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
While I would have preferred to see a singles match between Charlotte (who would have held the title until now) and Bayley to have Bayley win the title and end Charlotte's caveat-filled PPV undefeated streak, I suppose this will have to do. I still think Nia is FAR too green to be on the main roster, let alone in a match at Wrestlemania, but I'm not booking the show. Sasha has been teasing somewhat of a heel turn for a few weeks, what with her basically helping Bayley cheat so Bayley could win and retain the title, and it's entirely possible that the turn could happen here.  Or it could happen tomorrow night on Raw.  Either way, it seems almost a foregone conclusion that there's going to be a Bayley vs. Sasha feud in the near future, sort of as an extension of their apparently epic feud in NXT.  I was not watching NXT at the time, so I haven't witnessed their feud myself, but I certainly would like to when I have the opportunity.  Anyway, I'm glad that women are getting more and more representation at most WWE events, and this should be a hell of a match.  Charlotte is one of the best wrestlers in the entire company, Bayley is the perennial fan favorite, Sasha has all the potential in the world, and Nia...can knock people down really easily.  Of course, with the elimination stipulation thrown in, this makes everything a bit weirder.  I kind of get the feeling that we're either going to see Bayley somehow squeak out a victory or have Sasha screw Bayley out of the title and win it over Charlotte. Then again, if WWE is going with a slow burn Sasha heel turn, then Bayley is definitely keeping the title.  Let's go with that.
Winner: Bayley
Singles Match - Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles
While I would have significantly preferred Styles to be in a title match (let's just forget the whole mess with Orton and Wyatt and the Rumble for now), I will say that, even though dirt sheets knew about this match weeks ago, the build has actually been halfway decent.  Though I will ALSO say that the line between face and heel is very awkwardly skewed.  Styles has a legitimate gripe about not being in the WWE Title match after Orton basically forfeited his Rumble victory, then saying, “Nah, just kidding,” after Styles won the right to face Wyatt at Mania.  But I did say I was going to forget about that whole mess, so let's just focus on the match we have.  Styles is easily the best in-ring performer in the company, and as a shrewd armchair booker who has never stepped into a wrestling ring in his life, I think he should have a more appropriate opponent for the biggest wrestling show of the year.  Don't get me wrong; Shane is still a surprisingly agile man for his age.  But he was never a technical wizard or a charismatic enigma.  He was a kid who took ridiculous risks for the spectacle, and now that he's in his forties, he can't really take those risks.  I mean sure, he jumped off the Hell in a Cell last year, but it just didn't feel all that spectacular.  And seeing as how he's had all of two matches in the past year while Styles has been WWE Champion and has pulled stellar matches out of everyone he's faced, it just feels like Styles should have a more appropriate opponent for Mania.  Like Samoa Joe.  Or John Cena.  Or Finn Balor. Or Shinsuke Nakamura.  Especially considering Styles' age, I can't imagine he has TOO many Manias left in him.  He's still the best wrestler in the company, but the full time schedule is going to wear on him, I'd imagine.  So there will probably be a couple of awesome spots, a few good strike exchanges, but in the end, I can't imagine Styles losing this match.
Winner: AJ Styles
Non-Sanctioned Match – Seth Rollins vs. Triple H
To think that had Samoa Joe gone to Smackdown instead of Raw, we would have had a far better build for this match and what would likely have been a knock-down, drag-out fight between these two.  But a freak accident messed up Rollins' knee, so we have a “Non-Sanctioned Match,” which as far as I can tell, will basically be the same as a No Holds Barred match?  I guess?  It probably just means that Samoa Joe can interfere, seeing as how he doesn't have a match on the card (which is a travesty in and of itself).  There will probably be weapons, run-ins, and other assorted shenanigans.  These two COULD have torn the house down in a passing of the torch moment, but instead, we're getting what will probably boil down to a car crash.  It could still be great, especially if both guys get really brutal with each other.  But I'm not holding out a ton of hope for this match to be as good as it could have been.  Who wins?  I think Rollins has to win, since it's wrestling and the good guy should triumph in the end.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Singles Match – The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns
If WWE Creative is trying to turn Roman Reigns heel, this would be the perfect opportunity.  While there are MANY others whom I would have chosen to face Taker (Styles, Joe, Cena, Balor)...I actually don't have a second part to that statement. Reigns is actually much better than a lot of people give him credit for, but he still needs a great partner to work with in order to perform at his best.  His matches with Styles were fantastic, but Styles could make ME seem like a competent wrestler.  And Reigns' feud with Rusev was actually going fairly well up until Reigns won the US Title, but again, that's because Rusev and Lana are just plain amazing.  At this point in his career, Taker likely needs someone to carry him to a decent match, but since Reigns ALSO needs a good partner, I'm a bit worried about how this match will go.  And seeing as how Reigns is like Cena in that he always wins lol, it's difficult to choose a winner.  Though ever since Taker lost the streak to Lesnar, it does seem like he's probably ready to hang it up.  Then again, we've been saying that for about a decade now, and he's still going somehow.  I don't expect this to be a good match.  But you never know.  As to who wins?  As much as my heart wants to go with Taker, I just can't help but shake off the feeling that Vince wants Reigns to be the next face of the company by any means necessary.  I don't like saying this, but I think Roman Reigns might actually win.
Winner:  ...Roman Reigns
That felt awful to write.
WWE Universal Championship Match – Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar
I would have been perfectly happy to see this feud end without a title on the line.  Hell, I would have been perfectly happy to not see this feud crop up at all.  Goldberg has been great on the mic, Paul Heyman has been Paul Heyman on the mic, but in the build up to the two encounters they've had, the payoff just feels so lackluster.  Goldberg has had roughly five minutes of actual match time across two singles matches and the Royal Rumble.  So we simply don't know if he can even last ten or fifteen minutes.  The guy is still in awesome shape, especially considering he's fifty years old.  But I just can't imagine this match being anything other than an utter train wreck.  And really, no matter who wins, in the long run, the fans lose.  Because either Goldberg retains and very likely promptly retires, sending the Universal Title picture into utter chaos again, or Lesnar wins and we have him once again show up four times a year to perform the exact same boring match against whichever sacrificial lamb Creative decides to send to the slaughter.  Sure, it'll pop ratings for a week or two, but how are things going to go for the next four months leading to Summerslam?  I doubt Vince thinks that far ahead these days.  This will either be another two minute Goldberg squash match, or maybe five minutes tops of Lesnar tossing Goldberg around.  Not exactly Universal Title match material, methinks.  As much as it pains me to say this, probably Lesnar will walk out Universal Champion.  Blech.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
WWE Championship Match – Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton
This is a feud that could have lasted another year and it would have been THE feud to look forward to in 2018.  But you know how WWE loves to rush feuds for the sake of PPV buys (even though PPV buys don't really exist anymore what with the WWE Network and all), so they had the Wyatt Family drop the tag belts to American Alpha and hurried this feud to its logical conclusion about a year ahead of what I would schedule.  And it definitely feels like they cut huge chunks out of what could have possibly been a fantastic, nearly two year long feud.  The whole thing went from Orton being the servant one week to Orton burning down the Wyatt compound the next week.  That could have been like four months' worth of build, but they crammed it into a week.  And it just all feels so rushed.  Don't get me wrong here: I LOVE Wyatt as champion.  I just would have liked to see him hold it for, say, nine or ten months, just utterly dominating Smackdown alongside Orton, Harper, and possibly a returning Rowan.  But here we are.  I desperately want to see Wyatt retain, since he's deserved a world title run for years now, and an Orton victory would be Just Another Orton Victory.  What I wouldn't mind seeing is this match getting overbooked to hell and back, with possible run-ins by Harper and Rowan and (if things go the way I would want them to go) the Broken Hardys.  But that's fantasy booking, and I would have written a fantasy booking entry, but this week has been super busy.  Against my better judgment, I am going to go with my heart and say Bray Wyatt retains.  There's no logic to this pick.  I just don't want to see Orton standing tall after a truncated, disappointing feud.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Well, there you go.  That was probably the longest entry I will ever write.  At least until next year.  Or unless I feel like writing a post-Mania entry.  But even if I do, I doubt I will have time to do so until later in the week.  I have a LOT of stuff coming up, and those things take precedence.  If you managed to read this entire gargantuan entry, thank you, and also I'm sorry you had to read so much.
