ruthie slowly realizing I have the front camera turned on 😂 this dog hates being photographed!
we were up for a bit at 5 but it was too early and I was sleeepy so ended up dozing for another hour or two. rainy morning here. I’m trying to really savor the cozy snuggly days as life is about to get so hectic for me:
I’m in pittsburgh friday morning through monday night (YAYYY) attending two weekend games and hanging out with bec!!!
I have tuesday to run errands and do laundry before my mom arrives wednesday
we leave early thursday morning for 14 days in japan and korea, during which we are hitting tokyo, osaka, kyoto, nara, mt koya, hiroshima, miyajima island, fukuoka, busan, daegu, and /seoul… I’m soooo psyched but also 🫠 it’s gonna be a whirlwind and I still have to do quite a bit of prep to be ready
we get home on a wed, I have thurs to recover from jetlag slash finalize my job talk, and then friday is the all-day campus visit
THEN I leave sat morning for houston and get back late monday night
it’s gonna be a lot!!! so very okay to be slothful this weekend and for as much of next week as I can manage I think. I am building up my reserves of rest and solitude lol.
mmkay. tonight I am having dinner + watching tár with mary later (and maybe seeing my sister at some point in the afternoon tbd) but the morning is my own! no pressure to get anything done in particular but here are some options:
could do more campus visit research for fun! my first gen programming book is arriving sometime today so I could read that and take notes, or I could spend some more time working through these articles I pulled up on designing programming for transfer students. I was also thinking it might be fun to create some one-page idea/vision/notes docs by hand on various topics—I feel like writing by hand will reinforce my memory of key details, and then making decisions about how I want to visually organize/arrange content will be a good exercise in synthesizing what I’ve learned. lol even as I’m typing this out I’m like ‘OOOOH that sounds like fun!!!!’ so I guess I’ll probably do that.
my former student is calling me at some point today to talk about transfer students’ experiences. he’s around my age (went back to undergrad after serving in the military for a long time) and is fun to talk to because he’s super smart and just like… more of a fully formed person and professional than the college-age kids. so that will be fun and should give me some useful threads to follow in my research.
pick up my CVS prescription
hmm maybe I’ll put my laundry in right now? I also want to change linens/towels. I cleaned most of the house yesterday so don’t have much else to do in the way of chores… and I have a bunch of leftovers to finish before I’m allowed to make anything else so no cooking to do today either.
if it clears up I’ll go for a shorter long walk (the hourlong loop?) unless it’s really nice and I feel like doing the 90+ min trek again. not gonna let myself run today though—I can tell I pushed it a bit yesterday with the long fast walk + running two days in a row at a quicker clip than usual. just a little bit of achiness!
I finished a novel yesterday and want to start the next one today so I don’t break stride, but that can wait till before bed unless I’m moved to read earlier.
mmkay I think that’s it! take it easy and do fun relaxing stuff today.

What is even the point of Silver living in the future? It’s not his future anymore and he has no friends or family there. There’s nothing for him there. Now that he has precognition he should just live in Sonic’s time and get visions of disasters.
Seriously there’s no point in his future or time travel. We’ll never see it, Silver only cares about the state of it and he can only go to Sonic’s time anyway.
i might have missed something but as far as i know silver doesn't have precognition? like the whole point of him being sent back in time to fix stuff is that he has no idea what's going to happen to change the future. did i miss something??? idk
regardless, i understand where you're coming from - i agree that parts of it feel kinda pointless mostly due to the fact that we really don't know anything about silver's future. i think that it's likely he has people he knows in the future, but it's impossible to really know since his future is constantly in a state of flux. when it's not in a post-apocalyptic form, what does he do? what places does he like? does he know anyone? what keeps him going back?
it's hard to understand silver's place in the future when it feels off-limits narratively. however, i don't think the solution is to completely remove silver from the future, because there's still a point to its existence - like you said, silver cares about it regardless of how it treats him. he cares about the people living there even if he doesn't know them, and he cares about the safety of that world even if he can't find a place in it. i think these traits are essential to silver - even when he doesn't know how he fits into everything, he's determined to find a path forward for everyone else. i think these concepts should be further explored through stories set in the future so we get a better understanding of silver's place in all of this - i'd really like to see silver stories in the future explore that setting and how silver fits into it, especially since IDW is currently examining silver's place in the present with the rest of the cast. and hey, why not have some of the other characters travel to the future as well? idk get wild with it
i think silver's world is a really cool setting that hasn't been utilized in a while, and i don't want to see it scrapped forever. maybe after returning to it, silver does decide that his place is in the past/sonic's present - and i think that's an earned choice. but i don't think that decision should come without exploring silver's future and understanding what it means for him to leave it forever.

Issues I have with ikevamp
That I’m venting here because they won’t leave my skull
*Content warning, we’re talking about men in the past, they did some bad stuff*
Part 1, historical inaccuracies
I’m I history nut so this really gets to me, since I know the deep details of these peoples lives.
The timeline, ok so the game takes place in 18th France, correct me if I’m wrong but I think it is in the second empire (1852-1870) considered there is a noble class, yet you can clearly see the Eiffel Tower which was completed in 1889, there is no mention of the 1889 exposition, so it must be after the tower had become permanent, by then the 3rd republic was around, if we are in the republic the Count wouldn’t be called that by the npcs at all the parties he goes to, no matter which we’re in, NOBODY mentions Napoleon III at, NOT EVAN HIS UNCLE (WHOSE SOMEHOW BECAME CASS CONSCIOUS!)
How does the time travel work, example, Dazai died in 1948, his plan was seemingly to wait until he’s born in 1909 then kill himself as a baby, but then he decides to use the magic door, what are the consequences of 2 Dazais existing at once or him erasing himself from history, he’s a pretty important literary figure, does someone else replace him or does the space time continuum collapse?? Is the future Vlad sees set in stone or can it be changed, just copy someone else’s time travel bit!!!
So straight up these guys aren’t who they say they are, we’ll go through 1 by 1
Napoleon- doesn’t mention he left the love of his life to marry a girl 20 years his junior (like think how interesting it would be if he’s conflicted about love cuz he had to give it up for political reasons) -that scene where MC talks about all the ‘good’ that he did in Europe, like committing war crimes against the Spanish and Portuguese and Eastern Europeans, being a coloniser, killing the slaves he freed when they asked for more rights, killing thousands of men in a meaningless war (ligit H*tler vibes)
Arthur- goofy irl, literally believed in fairies, had 5 children and married twice but he never mentions any of this, he cheated on his first wife while she was dying of TB, he was a liberal unionist (tldr didn’t like Irish people) he was anti-immigration, might have committed fraud. We’ll get to the other issues I have with him.
Leonardo- fruity as hell, vegetarian
Mozart- they got his character completely wrong, the guy was a complete man child, vain, broke, by the end of his life his career fell off (Beethoven better composer), in love with his cousin 🤢, had a s*at fetish 🤢🤢🤢. The hole Salieri thing didn’t happen.
Vincent- they made him too mentally stable, I’m all for him being meek, but the guy had serious issues that they ignore, he ate paint thinner, was rejected by his both crushes, WHY DOES HE HAVE BOTH EARS, DID IT GROW BACK, THEY SHOULD HAVE LEFT HIM WITH ONLY ONE, also he should be ginger smh. Oh yeah and they never mentioned the s*ecide attempt.
Theo- doesn’t mention his wife, or son, WHO HE NAMED AFTER VINCENT, his wife is the person responsible for Vincent’s work not being completely forgotten, was way nicer irl.
Issac- tbh hotter irl, low key ace, maybe a fruit, kinda mean, the only thing they got right was the major virgin vibes.
Jean- WHY MAN!??!! Even if the didn’t want a lesbian route, they could have gone with any other guy from the 100 years war, Edward black prince, idk WHY GENDER BEND ONE OF THE MOST PROMINENT WOMEN IN HISTORY, I’m fine with the delusional trans dude lie, but they say that he was a guy all along, THEN WHAT WAS THE POINT OF HIM BEING BURNT AT THE STAKE IF HE WASN’T CROSS DRESSING???!!! was he double cross dressing??? This is the worst of them all, give me the girl boss we deserve (revers fate)
Dazai- not depressed enough imo, he was a leftist, again missing wife, their were two su*ecide attempts, guy lived through fire bombing, had a few children that he is fine to erase from existence.
Shakespeare- probably a fruit, again never mentioned his wife and kids, btw the way he talks is annoying, some people don’t think he’s real.
Faust- NOT A REAL PERSON.
Sanson- too young, this guys is 67, really liked the guillotine, just saw execution as his job didn’t really care, had a wife and kids.
Vlad- Ok is he supposed to be Vlad THE impaler? Cuz he’s not evil enough, or is he a Dracula reference, cuz he can’t dance that dance either, why did they call him Vlad if he isn’t a blood thirsty war criminal.
Count- not enough history to work with.
Part 2, problematic moments
So I ha have seen some posts on the low key misogynistic way the MC is written and treated and there are a lot of issues wit white washing history so another trigger warning ⚠️
Misogyny- the MC of this game is not the best, I know she’s a self insert but she has no backbone at all. She lacks agency I’m most of the routes, like the MC getting kidnapped is a troupe in all these games, but Emma can escape on her own, Kate has ⚽️, even Alice had more depth to her, seems the only thing MC can do is cry and wait to be saved, I swear she gets kidnapped once in every route, I think they could have given her more character to work with. Another thing, but Jean being a man is bad, really bad, she’s a feminist icon but they made her a man, it’s sought of saying that women aren’t capable of this so she had to have actually been a man.
Handling of SA, important one here, I’m ok with the flirty guy, but I really hate Arthur, he doesn’t just flirt with her in chapter 1 he assaults her and acts like he did her a service, and she just forgives him!?! I’m fine with a guy that sleeps around, I like Jin and Nokto fine, but the way Arthur talks about women, always calling them Birds (if they were going for English slang it doesn’t work cuz he doesn’t have a cockney accent) or worse Skirts, it’s dehumanising, and shows that to him women are vehicles for sexual pleasure and aren’t on an equal level of understanding. There are smaller parts to, Leo kisses her without consent, the Count hides the truth from her, idk but Theo calling her a ‘hound’ sounds like he’s calling her something else…
Minor points on classism, I’m not expecting the communist manifesto, but all these games aren’t very good at dealing with class deviation. In Vlad’s route, the orphan boy thinks he can impress the rich girl, this is the 19th century, capitalism is on the rise, but there’s no comment about how it’s impossible. The little school Napoleons runs is strange, considering he was in a position where benefited from poor people existing and staying poor, ( side note, he’s teaching them swordsmanship when ww1 is right around the corner, just saying they won’t need it in the military) called MC out as a social climber, these games sought of depict the past through rosé tinted glasses, there’s only passing reference to how fucked people were in the past, Also all the historical inaccuracies above tie to this.
Anyway love to hear some other opinions, (I started playing this game before my transition and have always thought it it was wired, it’s my personal least favourite just cuz I couldn’t really get into any of the guys, my OC ended up as a Carmilla reference so….)
I have seen a post talking about some of the issues before so that’s what got me to write this out, if you disagree or want to add anything I’m all ears 👂
Thanks for reading 💗💖💖💕💓💝💗🥰🥰🥰❤️✨✨✨✨❤️⭐️⭐️⭐️

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks @cha-melodius and @stereopticons for the tags! I know I’ve done this in the past, but it’s been a hot minute…
How many works do you have on ao3?
239!
What's your total ao3 word count?
822,937—but that’s a collaboration-boosted lie. Per my writing tracker, words that I have personally written and published on AO3 is 693,613
What fandoms do you write for?
Mostly RWRB these days, but the majority of my back catalogue is Schitt’s Creek, with a few others sprinkled in for fun. The Pairing definitely made my brain whirr… we’ll see.
Top five fics by kudos:
With so much of my heart (that none is left to protest), RWRB, 65.5k, the Much Ado About Nothing stage actor AU
Kinda think that I might be his type, RWRB, 12.8k, Alex and Bea fake date and Alex gets a little distracted by Bea’s brother
We were supposed to find this, RWRB, 3.3k, soulmate AU
We always walked a very thin line, Happiest Season, 2.7k, Riley character study/alternate ending
All the Lonely Starbucks Lovers, RWRB, 5.8k, barista Henry repeatedly putting his foot in his mouth in front of his coworker crush
(This is how I learned Puck It has been knocked out of my top five 😭)
Do you respond to comments?
Yes! And absent a Schitt’s Creek resurgence of some kind that sees me absolutely inundated I don’t see that changing.
What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Five ways it could have ended (and one way it still could), Schitt’s Creek, 1.2k, for the love of god read the tags
What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Like… most of them? I love to end on a good HEA haha. For sheer joy, though, it’s probably With so much of my heart (that none is left to protest)
Do you get hate on fics?
From time to time. I’m very free with the delete button. Weirdly, it occasionally pops up in the AO3 comments but mostly seems to come to me via anons on tumblr??? I have no idea why.
Do you write smut?
It’s been known to happen, I guess 👀
Craziest crossover:
I haven’t written any AO3-era crossovers! A few fusions/media AUs, but no crossovers.
Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. I’ve only been asked once, and they wanted to post off AO3 which is a big heck nope for me (and my permissions statement has now been updated to reflect that)
Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Heck yeah I have. I’ve done several anthology-type collaborations where we each wrote a chapter in a fic, and I’ve fully cowritten fics with @ships-to-sail several times. We have another collab coming up for @aroyallybigbangrwrb and I’m also cowriting The Big Secret AU with @indestructibleheart which is essentially us one-upping each other on emotionally devastating ideas until someone writes them down. Good system 😂
All time favorite ship?
Stop making pansexuals choose things.
What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Look, the chances of kinktober 2021 being finished at this point are slim 😂
Schitt’s Creek kinkverse… I don’t know. I have little snippets written of future fics and they’re great but… idk. Maybe I’ll write one vignette-y wrap up fic one day.
What are your writing strengths?
Narrative POV, dialogue that feels like the characters, epistolary bullshit, smut apparently.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Coming up with actual plot lmao. Visual descriptors — I’m not even remotely a visual person so I really really struggle with writing the sorts of things people can visualise. Also like… the passage of time? A scam.
Thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Love it. I’ll shoulder tap a fluent speaker if I need an actual sentence/anything Google isn’t super reliable for. Forever heartbroken that there are no fics in my second language in AO3 and no reason for me to be able to sprinkle it into my own writing (though one of the subscriber shindig prompts might be about to change that 👀)
First fandom you wrote in?
HP
Favorite fic you've written?
Stop! Asking! Pansexuals! To! Choose! Things!
I don’t know there are 239 of the bloody things 😂 I’m far more interested in what other people’s favourites are than what my own is!
I have no sense of who’s done this already so apologies if this is a double up but tagging @agame-writes @affectionatelyrs @anincompletelist @cricketnationrise @getmehighonmagic
@happiness-of-the-pursuit @hgejfmw-hgejhsf @indestructibleheart @inexplicablymine @nontoxic-writes
@read-and-write- @rmd-writes @sparklepocalypse @welcometololaland @whimsymanaged and, as always, anyone who wants to play!

⚠️ HOFAS SPOILERS ⚠️
A thought about how it might continue for some characters ✨
This is essentially a rant lol (and english is not my first language and I read the book in Portuguese, there might be mistakes)
So, we know sjm will write more CC books, and I genuinely have no idea what it will be about, but I feel that these books are not a priority at the moment, yk? She’s continuing acotar (FUCKING FINALLY) and then she’ll write a new series (I have thoughts about that 👀) and then one day she’ll just show up talking about CC4 and we’ll all loose it lol
But I think there’re couple of years until that happens, cause the story that she was telling was indeed finished.
NOW HERE’S THE THING
I think the story was pretty much closed for Bryce and Hunt (they have done enough), so in these new books they won’t be main characters 🤷‍♀️ I hope she doesn’t pull a acotar on them and do a book per couple or something like that, cause I enjoy the multiple povs and I think it makes the story flows more smoothly. As for other characters…
- Ruhn and Lidia ✨, I would say it’s pretty much closed if it wasn’t for the Ocean Queen’s note to Lidia … so I guess Lidia will do more (WHICH I LOVE CAUSE I LOVE HER)
- My boy Ithan will definitely do A LOT, like I feel that at one point in the book he just didn’t do much anymore, like, more towards the end. But that’s very fitting I guess, he did do a lot and went through a lot and learned a lot, so idk … he has a lot more story to unpack in the future, especially on how he’s going to lead and change the wolfs, his ice powers and I guess maybe Perry (?)
- Tharion … oh, Tharion 🫠 the character who makes terrible choices lol BUT I LOVE HIM! He needs to deal with SOOO MUCH, like Ocean Queen and River Queen (?) even tho they must have forgiven him idk 🤷‍♀️, The Viper Queen (and whatever business she does next), his wife, Ariadne … honestly, he needs to figure himself out. And he will. In other books
- Hypaxiaaaa, I think she’s so cool but she hasn’t showed as much as other characters, so I guess she’ll show up more now that she’s a BIG speaking voice in how they’re gonna deal with the new world. And she does have her own business, like the witches stuff and all. So I think she’ll be more present
- Ariadne … so 🙃 … she basically didn’t show up at all. And I was (to say the least) really surprised by that. She was introduced as this really strong character and I just thought she was going to help them fight the Asteri (as one would), especially cause of the whole dragon fire thing, but no. She didn’t. I’m not complaining, but I guess she’ll have some sort of role in the other books then 🤷‍♀️ and probably have a thing with Tharion (I said what I said)
- Fury Axtar 🤡 WHAT DOES SHE DO??? WHO DOES SHE WORK??? HOW DOES SHE GO ABOUT HER DAY??? WHAT IS HER SPECIE???Like, I think we saw her fight maybe once??? On the attack in CC1. Other than that, we don’t see her much, but she’s so resourceful and enigmatic and everyone knows and fears her. Show me that. Please
- Flynn. So, I think the doors are more open to a story for him than it’s for Declan. Just cause, honestly, in a way, he actively does a bit less than Declan ( without Declan they wouldn’t do shut in these books) and he doesn’t have any romance, so there’s that. I don’t know if needs more, but we did have his sister this time, the ending bit with Ithan and Perry and he had more on him in CC2 because of Ari and the fire sprites. Also, he’s basically not a noble anymore, so there’s that too. But I don’t if he’ll be much more active
- The Viper Queen is the only villain I can think of 🤔 And maybe the Ocean and Rive Queens if they decide they want to lol. Other than that, I think it’s gonna be new characters
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk ✨ There are more to come

They’ll never do it but if I was rebooting HP i would literally start off in the Marauders’ first year and have a degrassi-style graduating cohort every year so we can see the entire transition from each year and each headppl. Then, I would change the plot by literally making every ship gay to give the AO3 readers what they want. Cause i mean the faithful adaptations’ already been done. Like literally I would make Dorcas/Marlene canon. Wolfstar is definitely canon. Jily is a thing for the first 2 seasons but I would literally create a fan poll to see if the mob wants jegulus, jily or jegulily.
I wouldn’t go fully into Order of the Pheonix. I’d hint abt the first war but it’d be through whispers and rumours to keep Hogwarts the main focus. Then, I would unkill everyone. I might still have Peter betray them or maybe I won’t- Maybe, he almost breaks but in this reality the marauders are good friends and they manage to save him somehow.
Then if my Max series somehow doesn’t get cancelled, I’d do Golden Trio era but like mostly focused on the weasleys and what they got up to. The trio can still be a thing but we’ve already seen their story. Like we’ll get an in depth character analysis of Ginny and her rs with Tom Riddle. Then, we are gonna have dramoine surprise get tgt. Because in this ver., Harry is a little bit more mentally stable (assuming his parents are still around or like trapped in a mirror or idk how it wld work but MAGIC). Maybe, Harry can explore his bisexuality and hook up with Cedric or Cho or Oliver Wood. We can see what everyone’s been up to. Maybe, do the grindeldore flashbacks some justice (have someone finally see their entire love story). We can see more of Luna’s future beau or Luna can be with Harry (we all know mentally stable Harry wld be more of a whore). I’d still talk about the wizarding war and Voldy will still be a thing but his story will be more fleshed out through Ginny and maybe Draco. Then, it’d end with the grand finale where they have an epic-ish battle. Maybe some ppl can die or maybe not. I wld still kill some ppl for PLOT but Dobby can keep his sock.
Then, once everything is over and all the ships are messed up. I will do some mental gymnastics and plot acrobatics to somehow make next gen hp characters a thing so I can fully showcase Teddy Lupin (yes blue hair teddy. Idk maybe Nymphadora was a surrogate or they had a thing but wolfstar would still be alive and endgame). Then, we can have Victorie Weasley, other Weasleys etc. Eventually, we’ll hit cursed child era but instead of the nonsense we got, I’ll stop milking the dead dick of Voldy and come up with a brand new facist villain. Maybe it’ll be the ministry or like the Elf enslavers? Deep dive into Kreacher? Politician!Dobby? More “dark creatures” at the sch? Possibilities are endless!!
HBO MAX pls hire me. Also, im not straight or white so you best believe we are going to add real diversity and not just racebend or genderbend for the sake of diversity.
Anyways just my thoughts on the reboot. Im prepared for disappointment esp w the recent hp discourse but oh well.

unrelated to tot question, how did willow even get into hexside? Her dads canonically went to different schools (in Thems the breaks kids) and I may be misremembering this but pretty sure odalia said something like “we’ll make sure the girl never gets admitted into hexside.”
The only solution I can think of right now is Bump supremacy
Odalia did say that but it was a conditional threat. She would only become an obstacle in Willow attending Hexside if Amity didn't do as told and break off their friendship. She did so Odalia stopped paying any attention to Willow.
Gilbert and Harvey went to St. Epiderm and Glandus respectively but from what we know about both schools, it's not unlikely that they'd opt to send her somewhere else.
As stated by Raine, St Epiderm was both pricey (They could only attend on a scholarship.) and not in an ideal location (Their parents had to live by the Knee in order for them to attend and didn't like how cold it was.)
I don't know the details of the Parks' living situation. They're certainly not poor but they're not nearly as well off as the Blights. (Who also chose to send their kids to Hexside, implying it must be a school with a good reputation.) Plus idk if the Parks lived in Bonesborough all along or if they moved there for the sake of Willow's education but if it's the former, having to migrate to the Knee/sending their daughter to school so far from home would not have been the convenient option.
While Epiderm might have been a consideration when Gilbert and Harvey were deciding Willow's future school, I imagine Glandus was simply out of the question from the beginning. Harvey attended himself so he would well aware of the social hierarchy there. It was established in TTLGR that Glandus students have a dog-eat-dog mentality. The strong are expected to push down the weak.
Considering what a shy, sensitive, insecure, clumsy, magically challenged little girl Willow was, Harvey knew she'd be bullied relentlessly if they sent her there. And the Parks definitely give off the impression that they're very protective of their child and most likely don't believe in the idea that being put in that kind of situation will help her in the long run.
(Obviously she ended up getting bullied at Hexside too but neither Harvey or Gilbert were familiar enough with the school to know that.)
As for how Willow got admitted into Hexside at all, yeah. It was absolutely Bump.
It's mentioned by Amity that in order to pass the Hexside entrance exam, you need to be able to cast at least two spells. I always saw this as just a formality to prove the child has a functioning bile sac, rather than an expectation for the child to be already talented before they even start school. So like, even if they're bad at magic, they have the potential to improve. This was Bump's mentality, I believe. Principle Faust probably had higher standards for the former exam but I figure Bump definitely changed a lot once he became principle, namely that every student have the opportunity to learn and excel even if they're not immediately perfect.
(Bump most likely had his faults tho. Ableism seemed pretty normalized on the Boiling Isles when it came to witches who couldn't do magic. So like. A kid like Hunter would probably have been turned away if he tried to enroll in season 1. Although Luz being a human and proving she could do magic in an alternative way definitely opened Bump's mind a bit. So from this point, I imagine he'd be more lenient in allowing students who aren't biological witches.)
So like. Willow could, at the very least, cast a plant based spell. Maybe something simple too, like a light spell (Amity once said disparagingly, that a light spell was something even a child could do.)
So I definitely see it as Willow just barely scraping by. She managed two spells, though she could only do one of them well. But Bump probably wouldn't turn away any witch kid with magical potential unless he could not see a single feasible way for them to improve at Hexside. (eg. a kid with no magical ability whatsoever.)

Hi, it’s me again, I had a couple of ideas, a couple are about possible bard reader, another is a musing for any reader, and the last is a general question.
1. Bards aren’t solely musicians, (from my dnd experience,) they also recite poems, ballads, and stories. So what if Reader tries to keep some of the more prone to boredom pilgrims by talking about various other myths and stories she might know? For example, she might’ve had an ancient Egypt or Greek mythology phase and still remembers a lot of those stories and when things are getting dull, she just goes like “Hey, wanna hear a funny story?” And then talk about Midas getting cursed with donkey ears. It manages to occupy the silence with something more interesting.
2. I’ve seen the Ruan being suggested as Reader’s instrument, but I wonder if anyone has considered the Xun. A xun is basically a small ceramic or wood instrument in the same family as the ocarina, but played slightly differently. They’re quite portable, and they could also make for a convenient “which one of these identical monkeys is Six Eared Macaque,” test. Nothing against the Ruan, just wanted to share. (Bonus: if the Reader likes the Zelda games, she could play some of those songs and most of them are either soothing or fun to dance to.)
2.5. Personally, I am an edgy girl, so if I chose to sing, it’d be like the early 2000s nu-metal songs from groups like Evanescence, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, and all of that other stuff, so that’d be embarrassing.
3. How are she and Tripitaka going to stay warm in the winter? There were points in the book where it was stated to be snowing or at least very cold, and idk if Guanyin would give them coats or if they’d have to get one of the other pilgrims to beg for a couple of used old coats. If Guanyin did give them some, it’d be neat to see like a feather cloak or something along those lines as feathers (down) are very good at insulating and keeping one warm.
4. Given all of the times when Tripitaka either punishes Monkey too severely and/or kicks him out, I can imagine the Six Eared Macaque arc being the one where reader genuinely loses her patience and slaps the monk across the face. She doesn’t really even say anything, just turns to leave and if they say anything about how they need her to guide them, “well, you can figure it out for yourself, because I’m done putting up with your ‘holier than thou’ bullshit.” Then goes to find Wukong. Depends on if you want the one she finds to be the real one, trying not to cry, or if she runs into his doppelgänger. (Suppose we’ll have to wait and see.)
Have a good Sunday, Skittle!

Hello again~
Tumblr media
ok soooo i'm gonna admit that at first I had no idea what you were talking about but then I remembered that one of my followers did fanart with their version of Reader using a Ruan and I just wanna say that isn't canon it was just someone's art. anything that i post about ittw on here should be considered specifically not canon just for fun. i also won't answer any questions about what will happen in the future of any of my fics or au's (i know i'm a meanie😋). you can find all my ask rules on my pinned post 😊 (tho i might update them soon)
also everything about ittw was set in stone before i even began writing. nothing will change the plot even if i find an idea that i like (there was one idea from someone's fanart that i liked and i was thinking about using since it wouldn't effect the plot [after getting their permission] but i won't be doing that now because i don't want anyone to think i'm playing favorites or have a bunch of people try to get me to add their ideas as well. i've already had a bunch of people try to do that and it really stresses me out cause it's hard to stay nice in those situations) because of that (and i mean this in the nicest way possible i promise i'm not trying to sound like a jerk) i won't be taking any suggestions for plots unless i specifically ask for them🤗
I hope you have a great Sunday too, 🌺 Anon!

I just read the most recent chp of your fic (a superb piece of writing) and got the urge to ramble about it, if you don’t mind. (Feel free to ignore, if you want)
I really enjoy the way you write, and the interactions and characterization is splendid! And you even brought up the multiverse/diverging timeline stuff! :D
It’s such an interesting concept! Like, there’s so much to unpack! If Blue and Casey jr came back, their timeline obviously existed, but does it continue to exist? If it didn’t, would they cease to exist, as well? But if it did, what would be left? What is required for a timeline/universe to even exist?
As you know, CJ goes back in time and alters that past (now his present) so that his past doesn’t happen, and that rules out the theory that the future is unchange-able. So the future can be changed, but that implies that different decisions could bring about divergences (i.e. branches) in the timeline, causing wildly different outcomes (butterfly effect). As Donnie noted, who/what decides what these ‘big decisions’ are? Where do the divergences occur? Why?
Another possibility is that the multiverse exists, and Casey jr went back in time to another dimension (we’ll call it D2), not actually changing his dimension (D1)’s past or future, but becoming part of another dimension where the Invasion failed. (Does this mean D2 would follow the same path of D1 if CJ hadn’t travelled to D2 to prevent it?) If the past/future can’t be changed (alluding to a higher being), but the multiverse exists, then theoretically the dimensions/universes might mirror one another, with varying differences.
A third theory is that the multiverse and separating timelines both exist, and that’s a whole mess I can’t even get my head around rn. Like, do the dimension/universes mirror each others’ branches/divergences? Could separate branches of D1 and D2 converge, creating a bridge of sorts? Would they still be separate universes?
Idk, just lots of theories.
Thank you for sharing you’re amazing fic <3
first of all thank you so much for reading!!! im honestly so glad people are enjoying wmas <3<3<3
AS FOR THE TIME TRAVEL putting this under the cut because hoooooly shit anon i LOVE thinking about it sm
Tumblr media
OKAY SO as it stands this is the scenario i think of when i think about the rottmnt movie in terms of actual canon. the invasion timeline was the main branch of what happens in universe and by sending Casey Jones Jr back, it branches off to what we know now as the movie proper.
the main takeaways for this scenario is that the butterfly effect is confirmed and true, but on the other hand it brings up the question; what happens to that future timeline? does it disappear and its linearity is continued through CJJ? or does his presence not affect things at all and the invasion timeline falls into the invasion?
personally i like to think the former, even though the world ""dies"", it still lives through CJJ unknowingly. the events of the invasion still HAPPENED, but its linearity is more like a loop rather than a break.
Tumblr media
then theres scenario 2, the dimension theory where CJJ doesnt actually change the past at all, and instead just hops from one dimension to the other.
imo this one is a lot more bleak in terms of not changing the past, but it DOES bring up the interesting aspect where both timelines are just cocurrent, so for example while the rebellion falls in D1, at the same time in D2, the chase for the key is happening.
Tumblr media
AND THEN THE THIRD SCENARIO which kinda of builds on the previous, but its also an option to consider. whatever ""master timeline"" is just the encompassing idea of rottmnt i suppose. we DO see in film that events sort of parallel each other (which has VERY interesting implications of fate), but in different ways (ex. f!mikey winking while opening the time gate compared to mikey winking while closing the portal to the prison dimension).
in this scenario, CJJ goes back in time like a loop, but also experiences a sort of deja vu when events from the apocalypse timeline echo and reflect on the failed timeline which ALSO runs on the cocurrent events scenario.
this one MOST opens up the meta of the peepaw multiverse too because it ALL comes from a source and the paralleling events are just the entirety of the f!leo goes back genre lol so i think this one is the most canon to wmas proper.
ack, ack!!!! its all SO INTERESTING to think about!!!!!!

TOH SEASON 3 SPOILERS FOR THE FUTURE
/ / /
Hot take for the Owl House finale-
Whilst in the Titans skull, The Collector seeks revenge against King by attempting to turn Luz and the hex squad into puppets,
the collector fails to get everyone else but Hunter who shielded Gus and Willow-
Hunter gets turned into a puppet but gets possessed by all of the grim walkers (since they entered the titans skull) and now when one of them talks the puppets mold changes shape to their hair and face, so when it swapped between golden guards it shows which one it is currently, of course they have Hunters voice but layered and echoed to show how many there were. and they just mess around switching back and forth.
— —
The Collector was shocked at this,
“Aw man he can move too? First you now him!” He said frustrated- pointing at Belos/Raine
“Don’t be surprised Collector, you should have known it was a bad decision for revenge in this room.”
The Collector scoffed, “How so?”
“Skulls can be hollow, and we can hear everything.”
The puppet snapped its fingers illuminating the cave, Luz and the hex squad felt sheer horror as they looked upon what appeared to be hundreds of skulls underneath them.
And the puppet pulled its strings and smiled.
— —
I felt like there was more to the grim walkers, the last episode felt like a nod towards them, I want to believe that they might have a leg in how the emperor is defeated, I just mainly want them to have their justified revenge so they can finally rest their souls. It would be fitting, not to mention their skulls lay directly under where the collector was the entire time as well as everyone heading to the skull I felt like they were bound to head into that room eventually.
However if they series wasn’t shorter I feel like we could’ve gotten more time with the grim walkers but I rest my case, in the last episode it seemed they were stuck, almost trapped inside of the Titans skull, it would be nice for them to have actual graves in the final episode, a nice resting place for them. I would definitely want Hunter to have confrontation with the grim walkers and finally acknowledge them the way they should’ve been acknowledged by at least someone. They died alone and they deserve someone to be there for them in their final resting days right? I would love to see Darius helping with the burials, considering his fond relationship with a previous Golden Guard, Just a thought idk
Guess we’ll see how it plays out in the Finale.

Another !!!!!!! This one’s themed around hypnosis :) ough I originally planned him to be blue and yellow but then … space ……….
Anyways he was inspired by the Malfestio from Monster Hunter :) the inside of his cape produces real trippy graphics of his choice, but it’s mostly used to help people sleep. Especially when they’re in his lap 😌
… maybe I shouldn’t have made his cape pointy and kept it round to strengthen the hypnotic effect, idk;; too late tho :( Wanted it to be consistent with his silly hat but I might change it in future doodles or smth, we’ll see
Also he does magic ✨

Hi Timi!✨
I'm really curious in particular for your answer to this ask since Lonel and IQRUS share a world of what I understand which makes this very interesting...
If you were to write a story in your setting, which would occur at a point in time other than the current time for any of the particular WIPs (or a point in time already covered but within an entirely different region and focusing on entirely separate events), what would it look like? Why would this time/place be interesting to write? If happening before the WIPs current time, would it tell of history known to the current time? If told after, would the events of the current WIP be known history to the characters? Would any characters/objects carry through time?
Hope you enjoy!
~ Circa✨
Love you for this it’s such a fun question, thank you!
Funny thing, I have actually three story planned in the world of IQRUS.
One before Lonel (so far it’s called Sasin but it will change in the future), then Lonel and lastly IQRUS. Sasin will be a story about mafia clans having magical abilities and separated by those, plus a detective who will be deeply connected to them. There, the detective will get a little knowledge about zaphrins in the end of their storyline and stuff in Auris, so they will appear in Lonel later. Because those two are taking place in different countries but slowly get connected by the strange phenomenons like constant raining (which wouldnt be as weird in Auris, Lonel’s country but it is in where Sasin takes place), and the water acting up or not usual. Sasin will have more knowledge of the, lets call it “intergalactical” picture and they want to spread it or get help, assemble force, idk yet. Meanwhile somewhere around where the main Astin Tower will be built, Icharo (IQRUS’ villain) does his thing to flood the planet. That’s what the other countries experience as weird little changes.
However, Lonel and Sasin’s story isn’t widely known to the history of IQRUS, because they are pretty secretive things. But, Adran and the Deep Corps memebers all find many little relics and stuff from the places those stories took place in. That was my first little motivation at the beginning to be honest. To have some Easter Eggs in IQRUS from other stories, like paintings with Selys' name on it that the Deep Corps found in the sunken cities or something like that.
Also, I think what Icharo begins, will mute every supernatural aspect other than his eldritch horrors. So, whatever was with Lonel and Sasin, those powers will be blocked or surpressed almost completely. We’ll see. Because IQRUS revolves around techonolgy that is so advanced it feels like magic. But there is no true magic to where Dane and Adran lives. On another Towers tho… who knows. They might meet Selys at some point.

Some rambling thoughts from my Doctor Who watch, the first half of season 21.
Tumblr media
Warriors of the Deep was a bleak start to the season. Right from the start of the story they were talking about how the political situation in the future hasn’t changed much since the Cold War, and progress hadn’t made anything better. Yikes. Watching this during the Cold War, and then the ending of this story, would’ve been... a lot. Or maybe everyone was just used to the fatalism by then. The Doctor was very gung-ho in this story, there was a lot of action. Oh and I loved him deciding to set a reactor to overload in the first episode as a distraction for the gang to escape. Unhinged. He was pissed off by the end though. I love companions who don’t just effortlessly vibe with the Doctor’s morality and point of view. Turlough saying he’s going back to the Tardis rather than to attempt a suicide mission to rescue the Doctor is a decision that makes sense, and it makes for a sweet moment when he’s reunited with Tegan later after he changes his mind. Oh and at one point, Turlough forces someone to open up a bulkhead door so that the Doctor and Tegan can survive, but that decision leads directly to the deaths of some crew, and arguably the deaths of everyone. It isn’t something the story draws a lot of attention to, but I thought it was notable because you don’t see that sort of direct consequence to companions’ life and death decisions very often. I imagine because it’s too bleak- this story clearly didn’t have an issue with that. Tegan’s outfit is great this series, but for the love of god why is she going around in massive heels. For what possible reason. Gender roles are so weird. Also, I love when actors put their own spin on a straight line in the script- a probable example was Tegan wishing the Doctor luck in this one, and doing so in the most sarcastic possible voice. The Silurians might be one of my favourite ‘aliens’ in Doctor Who, though this didn’t feel like it brought anything particularly new to the table. The script seemed to be implying heavily that Icthar is from the original Silurian story, though even without checking I thought ‘that doesn’t seem like it adds up.’ It didn’t surprise me at all to learn that a novel later gave us Icthar’s first meeting with the Doctor. One of the Sea Devils gets a melty death which was gross and gave me flashbacks to the Terileptils. Finally, I know that how the Tardis doors lock is one of those things that’s inevitably is a little different in each story, but this one seemed convinced that the Tardis can’t lock at all? The Tardis team seem adamant that they need to leave before the Tardis is discovered, even though they could just not leave the ship, and sure enough later the base crew enter the Tardis with no help from the Doctor. There would be so many more problems in this series if the Tardis couldn’t even lock.
I enjoyed The Awakening more than I thought I would. It’s a wonder what only being two parts can do for a story. And actually, the mob mentality aspect was really creepy. Imagine being the only person in a small town who isn’t taking part in some war reenactments that are going too far, but when you try to convince all the people you know that they should stop, they just brush you off. And I don’t really know how much of the reenactments and brutality was the influence of the Malus, because most people aren’t acting more unhinged than I could imagine actual people acting, and I think that works really well. Almost every single Five story has a linking element with the story immediately before it, and this is a hell of a story to break that streak. I guess we’ll just forget about the Doctor’s depression from last episode. Oh I love different times and places physically merging, so you can just walk from one to the other. Idk why I like it so much, I just do. Very fairytale. In my notes which I sometimes take when watching, I’ve written here “Turlough rock murder redemption arc.” I assume that means he successfully attacked someone with a rock. Good job Turlough!
First of all, this is a Turlough stan account!! I was interested in watching Frontios because I know it gets some continuity nods in audios, and because I know the Tardis merges with a cave for some reason, and I’m a sucker for the Tardis merging with somewhere. Dimensions leaking out everywhere. What I did not know is that this story had a really strong subplot and character development for Turlough, and I adored watching that. First we got Turlough threatening people with the hatstand, which was hilarious, and even accidentally almost killing someone with it when he gives them a heart attack I think?? Amazing. Then we get Turlough going a bit crazy from recognising the Tractators, which gave his species a tiny bit of backstory which is nice. It reminded me a lot of humans’ reactions to Silurians in their first story, so it wasn’t as wildly out of left-wing as it could have been. (The people getting sucked into the ground also seriously reminded me of The Hungry Earth.) But THEN Turlough gets a scene where he’s left behind by the others when they go back underground, and has some worried deliberation about if he should face his fears. His new friend tries to comfort him “no one expects you to go back down there,” and he responds “of course they don’t, I’m Turlough,” which HURT my HEART. Then he says its decision time and holds out his fists for his friend to pick one. He opens the hand she picked to reveal a coin, and says that means he’s going, and “you can’t argue with fate.” Then he reveals that he had another coin in his other hand! Sorry I’m just describing this scene but it was my favourite bit. Turlough sort of can’t help but be defined by his selfishness and cowardice by comparison to other companions, and to see him this far into his travels, facing the thing that has visibly left him scared and shaken, and making a deliberate decision to face it head on! Anyway, anything else? The setting was sort of a bleak one, with (purportedly) some of the last surviving humans barely living on a rocky hostile planet. I quickly noticed that ‘bleak’ is something you could say about most of the stories this season, to one extent or another. Poor Five. The characters in this one were interesting though- they basically all act as allies and antagonists at different points in the story, they aren’t just good guys and bad guys. The Doctor acting like Tegan is an android was so funny. And the plot point that this far in the future was outside Gallifrey’s “normal sphere of influence” is telling. The Time Lords sure like to act like their dominion is all of time and all of space, but I don’t think either is particularly true.
I think I enjoyed Resurrection of the Daleks a lot more than I remembered I did last time. The Daleks themselves actually felt a little fresh in this, the way they were bleak killing machines kind of reminded me of how scary they were in series 1 of New Who. That said, I don’t think I’d ever seen them so easily destroyed as in this story. A lot of Daleks get blown up in this one. My brother and I also agreed that Lytton deserved a raise, the Daleks treated him awfully and constantly threatened him even though he seemed to be the most efficient planner on their team. Poor Tegan, I could understand her leaving during this bleak season. Professor Laird, the prisoner Tegan had been held captive with, getting killed really felt like the straw that broke the camel’s back. Though just before she left, it was nice to see how she and Turlough actually seemed to quite like each other. The Doctor saying that he should mend his ways after Tegan left was interesting, I wonder what changes he had in mind. He’s definitely had to make some heavy moral decisions in this season, like hesitating killing Davros in this story. And seeing him pick up a handgun and fire at a Dalek mutant so casually was so weird Oh hey, I forgot until Davros start ranting that this was Terry Molloy’s first time in the role. I’m so glad that he’s stuck around as the definitive Davros actor, he’s so fantastic. Anything else? Oh yeah, we don’t get many women of colour as heroes in Classic Who, so I took a shine to Osborn the soldier who tried to kill Davros when the Daleks first attacked. I was sad to see her get killed herself. And the Daleks truly had too many things going on this story, didn’t they. If they just focused on one damn thing at a time, they would’ve done much better for themselves. Currently I can’t even remember why they had a time corridor to 20th century Earth, was it seriously only to invade it? So yeah, a mess of a plot in this one, but the fresh (or maybe just more effective) aesthetic for the Daleks made up for it a little.

I understand that this might not be what others think, but this is where I am now:
humanity evolved, went to space, Spock was born, Spock started Vulcan-Romulan unification
for Spock to be able to do that, The Eugenics wars needed to happen, because the technological progress was important for space travel
now, in the future, some Romulans didn’t like the unification, didn’t like that Kirk stopped the war between the Romulans and the Federation a few times. So time travel they did
nothing too obvious, just blowing up bridges, labs (they might not even be time-travelling Romulans, just current time Romulans who were ordered to go there because a time traveler told the Praetor, or something) [There were no Romulans hindering humanity’s progress in the TOS timeline imho] and hindering the progress
now, Sera, the Romulan, did not like the slow progress. She travelled back in time, to the 1990s, but those times were already changed by other Romulans.
But the universe wants stuff in order - and those are: the existence of Khan, Eugenics wars, Kirk in charge of the Enterprise at a precise time in history, Spock alive and in a position where he can start Vulcan-Romulan unification (when these don’t exist, Federation and the Romulans enter the war and that isn’t supposed to happen)
in current SNW timeline, there was no Khan born from selective breeding and ruling a part of Earth in the 1990s (and La’an doesn’t exist in the original TOS timeline). Someone stopped that. In 2020s, a boy named Khan exists, who might be genetically engineered as an embryo (and La’an is his descendant).
and the universe will push so that between 2265-70, Kirk is in command of the Enterprise. So Spock stays alive. Whenever something happens to change that, it will be corrected, but it will bring changes.
snw1 finale was also affected by that. That’s why the old Romulan was missing. That’s why the Romulan fleet was so close. There was an opportunity in that skirmish, and Romulans were right. They could go to war.
TOS happened in the way it happened. It exists, or perhaps it’s a timeline that ceased to exist. We had the privilege to watch it unfold, but it won’t ever happen again, no matter how many prequels we’ll be able to watch. The characters will arrive at the same destination, but the paths might be altered; they will be slightly different people because they went through slightly different experiences.
When Nero and Spock travelled back in time, they already came into a different timeline. Where Khan’s history was different from the one in Space Seed. Nero just changed the course of some characters, but they aligned themselves. They all ended up on the Enterprise, after some pushes.
like idk maybe I’m reaching, but it works really well for me (but I also don’t watch any other Trek shows, only those TOS related. I just like that SNW gave me the ability to see SNW and TOS in this way, and it is a valid reading.
And it could make SNW so much better because they don’t need to line up everything 100% with TOS, just the key factors. I do think one of the showrunners said “storytelling is above canon”  and sure, therefore say that TOS is a different timeline and you can do anything you want. It isn’t that hard. People will then stop arguing and nitpicking, instead of just guessing and having two groups argue.
(kinda funny how my addition to this silly thought post kinda became canon-ish)
(I mean it won’t really change anything in the way I talk about TOS or SNW, but I like the idea. And I might stop nitpicking lol)

Honestly I wanted so much more of AFO taunting Endeavor about Touya and actually see Endeavor feel like shit for everything that happened to Touya. I wanted to see him reflect on being a father not a hero. I don't want to see Endeavor continue to be stagnant, I'm begging Hori not to continue to drag Endeavor's arc. I'm even starting to get a point where I wonder if he is even going to make the right choice.
He will. When Touya is THERE. Because that’s when it’ll matter.
That’s literally exactly what I mean. Why are we focusing on these characters if it actually gets us fucking NOWHERE.
The translation makes me feel a lot better. But I’m gonna go ahead and say this:
This was pointed out to me by @redphlox when we were discussing this last night, so take this as her observation not mine: But there is a big issue with that very randomly inserted backstory. Not Endeavor chastising himself, that’s fine. And no I don’t mean the father/daughter death foreshadowing something for Endeavor and Touya. Not that (I’ll touch on that at the end), I mean this fucking origin that Endeavor seems to have ✨magically✨ forgotten when he actually HIT the top hero spot. And had to ask All Might what it means to be number one, and All Might had to tell him it’s for the children and the future. Like, Endeavor if your origin and inspiration to BECOME a HERO was from seeing parental sacrifice, why the fuck did you need to hear that from a non-parent adult. And how has this not become so much as a thought in your head until NOW, when you’ve been reflecting on your role as a parent for the half of the story? How? See what I mean? It makes no fucking sense. It’s out of nowhere.
And tbh I didn’t need Endeavor’s reason for becoming a hero. Like yay we have it, cool, but it was unnecessary. Honestly.
I agree with the opinions I’m seeing that it’s disjointed and confusing. Now idk what Hori was going for, and I don’t really care because nothing about the story as a whole changes for me. But please, for the love of Christ move on if stagnating this character was gonna be the end game of this chapter. I can’t tell if that’s even what I should think. He had a good reflection on his past, he did! But then going back to saying “Oop, gotta defeat this villain!! That’s my mission!” Like no, that’s your job, but your mission should have been focusing on your sons on the battle field. Otherwise what was the point of this good development last chapter:
Tumblr media
Thankfully he didn’t completely abandon this development, but still this whole thing feels fucking out of nowhere and out of place.
Addressing the father/daughter dying concern:
Yeah. Honestly it’s annoying. Because I’m sure it’s there to scare us later. An Endeavor fake out death was always a prediction, and now it seems like it’ll be a “son saves Endeavor from dying and we’ll think they both died but they didn’t” type of situation.
No, I don’t think it foreshadows the end of the Todorokis. The family needs to be whole, per the story itself. It’s what both main characters of the subplot want. Endeavor losing his arm makes me think exactly this because tbh, who cares that he lost an arm 🙄🙄. Do I really think he’s gonna die right here and now? No. Though I’m sure the suspense for other people reading is real, so good job I guess. Still feels really unnecessary imo. But it being there paves a way for us to actually wonder if he’s gonna survive later at some point, and I’m sure both sons will be there for the death scare.
Then also, these well-placed, important moments have significantly more weight in the story than this random ass pull Hori gave us this week:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Personally I’m not worried. But I saw concern about it and I get it. This backstory is super annoying and to me feels unnecessary because we really could just end the story but instead we’re bouncing back and forth and continuing to make one specific character a complete pain in the ass to follow.
Overall though, chapter isn’t terrible. Not a waste like I originally thought. But imo it really isn’t a well-done chapter.
