#but anakin keeps knowing things about obi-wan that literally no one else does

No logic to this probably lol sorry BUT an AU where Obi-Wan dies instead of Qui-Gon and Qui-Gon mourns his padawan while he takes up the responsibility of training yet ANOTHER padawan (Anakin). But for whatever reason Obi-Wan sticks around as some kind of Force ghost, mostly tethered to Qui-Gon, but it seems that only Anakin can see him at some points. Idk I just wanna imagine smol Anakin chatting to his 'imaginary friend'. Pada Obi force ghost
you know what i feel like i've read a fic like this before but i can't quite recall!! it's definitely a fascinating idea - i love like. the idea that the force is like 'wait you guys need to meet that needs to happen, kenobi wasn't supposed to die. skywalker needs kenobi and vice versa. no im not gonna accept your soul, obi-wan, i know you're going to be incredibly angsty about the perceived rejection of your soul by Me, the Force, but you don't understand my son needs you in his life. you'll become the first jedi to ever become a Force Ghost without any training. congratulations now go counsel my son through his peers making fun of his haircut. i know. you would have given him the padawan cut immediately. i know. i know. qui-gon didn't though and it feels wrong for me too. go be his friend.'

Writing Obi-Wan I got an amazing ask that has prompted your Pal to go on several rants so I’m breaking it into parts for readability.
An anon new to writing fanfic asked about characterizing Obi-Wan. They asked about his most important traits to include to really nail his characterization and most importantly:
"In particular, I'm confused about reconciling the (chaotic, dramatic, 10/10) Clone Wars happenings with the way he appears in some other stories (more, well, civilized)."
Well anon: ask and you shall receive. Find your pal’s beginner's thesis below, keeping in mind that there are many others in the fandom who are way more accomplished authors who are much better about characterization in their own works and are way more qualified to speak to this. I'm going to do my best!
I love this ask! Characterization is so important in fan fic as we take familiar characters in place them into different scenarios that we haven’t seen how they react and respond to, and yet want it to feel authentic. The best is when you read a chapter and think of course that’s how Obi-Wan would deal with this.
The first part to nailing characterization is voice. Not even the motivation aspects behind “he would not fucking say that” but I literally ask myself: can I imagine the character’s voice actually saying these things? If I can’t hear Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan in my mind speaking the lines of dialogue I’ve written, I know it’s not right. This isn’t something specific I could give you a How To on, it’s 100% based on vibe and feel, BUT. Listen to the dialogue in the movies/tcw/kenobi series. The words he uses, his cadence, his tone. Even if he's being written in an alternate universe speaking about something that canon Obi-Wan has never experienced, and never will, it should still *sound* like him. If I had to summarize his voice: civilized yes, and more mature or refined than Anakin’s speech patterns, but with the ever present threat of sass. Underlying almost everything he says is a sense of I can and will destroy you if you piss me off, so tread lightly.
That brings me to your point of reconciling the different parts of Obi-Wan. There’s a line in Stover’s novelization of Revenge of the Sith which (I'm paraphrasing) says: he’s a Jedi Master who deep down still feels like a padawan. To me, this is why he can be the cool, calm logical Jedi Master one moment and then impulsively launching himself out of windows to hang from a speeding droid the next.
He is the expert of Fake it Till You Make It. He was suddenly thrust into all these roles of responsibility before he was prepared for them, but has taken them on and is Doing His Best. He literally went from being a padawan to having a padawan overnight. He had no time to experience being responsible for himself before he was responsible for someone else. He’s the youngest member on the council and despite, you know, not being trained in the military he is like The Highest Ranking Jedi and in command of a frighteningly huge portion of the GAR. He *is* incredibly competent and good at what he does, but he feels like its a role he's acting. He is playing the part of the wise Jedi, modeling himself after everyone he respects and looks up to and thinks is doing a better job than himself, when a lot of times his personal instinct isn't to react with measured patience but rather Yeet! or Read This Bitch!
Always remember: this man contains multitudes. There is no One Right take on his personality. That’s why he’s so fun to write! And also why there’s so many different versions of Obi-Wan in fan fic, and yet most are able to feel right if they hit the voice. Authors lean into the different sides of Obi-Wan they want to bring out. Some are more into his Big Dick Energy, being a BAMF, having the answers, and being in control General Kenobi. Some relate to the more the anxious padawan desperate to prove himself. Some see the man tossing back shots in the Outlander and think to themselves “this ho has slept with half of Coruscant”. Any and all of these can feel true to the character when done from a place of love and understanding for our main man Obi-Wan Kenobi

I've got a lot of complicated feelings on Jude Watson's writing in Star Wars, both positive and negative, but occasionally something she writes just... hits. And this quote? This fucking HITS.
This is from Secrets of the Jedi, the novel that discusses Siri and Obi-Wan's romantic relationship that has now been de-canonized. This particular scene is after their relationship has been discovered and they're breaking up in order to remain Jedi because they've been told they cannot do both.
But the line that hits me the most is Siri saying "I was so afraid of what lay ahead that I wanted to let go of my own will" because... WOW. Wow is that Star Wars to its core. That is literally EXACTLY what Anakin and Padme do in their own relationship, Anakin in particular. It's his FEAR of the future, even one that might not even happen, that causes him to let go of his own will and do things he KNOWS are wrong just to try to prevent it. Padme ignores a lot of her own boundaries and morals and better judgment in order to be in a relationship with Anakin. She lets go of the fact that Anakin makes her uncomfortable, she lets go of the fact that Anakin straight-up claims he's a fascist, she lets go of Anakin massacring the Tuskens. If we take TCW into account, then she also lets go of Anakin's possessiveness and sexist demands as well as the fact that he SCARES her sometimes and nearly beats a man to death in order to punish her for what he believed to be a lack of fidelity on her part. She lets go of a LOT of her own will in order to love Anakin.
And Siri asks the question afterwards, is that what love is? Obi-Wan doesn't have a response, but I think the novel does have a stance on the issue. It's a little muddied by a lack of understanding of what attachment is, but I think the answer within Star Wars itself is that this ISN'T what love is. This is what love can LEAD to if you allow it to do so, and it's not an uncommon thing to happen, but this isn't actually love itself. This is what ATTACHMENT is. This is the precise definition of attachment, this fear of what MIGHT happen to something that makes you feel good that it causes you to give up your own will in order to keep it and avoid the feeling of loss. But love is selfless, love is compassion, love is about letting go of your own desires in order to prioritize someone else's happiness.
And within this exact same novel, we actually see a perfect example of this kind of love, showcased through Qui-Gon and the way he feels about Obi-Wan. They're separated partway through the story and Qui-Gon is constantly thinking about how much he misses Obi-Wan and wishes Obi-Wan were with him, but he's capable of recognizing that their mission could save many lives from being lost and that's more important than his desire to be with someone he cares about. There's a moment where Qui-Gon discovers that Obi-Wan is in some kind of danger and he has to choose between trying to rescue Obi-Wan or continuing on with his mission, he CANNOT do both. In his thoughts, he recognizes that losing Obi-Wan would be devastatingly painful, equally as painful as losing Tahl had been, but he still chooses to continue with the mission because there are TWENTY lives on the line and his love for Obi-Wan cannot cost those twenty people their lives. THIS is what love looks like, THIS is genuine selfless compassion for another person. And nothing in the novel ever condemns Qui-Gon for how he feels about Obi-Wan or indicates that he needs to change or end his relationship with Obi-Wan, but it also doesn't shy away from showing just how deeply Qui-Gon DOES care for Obi-Wan.
And while I can believe Siri and Obi-Wan's feelings for each other were genuine, it turns into a selfish attachment VERY quickly. They nearly immediately decide to start living a lie and wanting to change an entire culture just so they can have something they want, despite the fact that Siri at least says that these rules exist for a reason. Their personal happiness becomes more important than anything else momentarily. They both claim that they'll be able to do their duty still, that they'll be able to balance both, but they're also both very ready to deceive other people who care about them in order to keep this thing that makes them feel good. The hurt they are willing to cause to others is small, but it's also something that could continue to grow and snowball into something more and more selfish. What happens when they can't see each other for a really long time and start to get desperate to find a way to be together? What happens when the lies start piling up and cause misunderstandings in their other relationships? The more they cling to each other, the more willing they will be to do the next selfish thing until eventually those selfish choices stop being so small.
This is what attachment does, this is the danger of that kind of love. It's not that all love is always like this, but just that this is an incredibly common thing to happen, especially in romantic relationships. Siri and Obi-Wan literally get to the point of losing their sense of self and their own will INCREDIBLY quickly because neither of them wants to have to make a choice because they're too afraid of losing either their relationship OR their status as Jedi. But, inevitably, they HAVE to choose. They would always have had to choose, regardless of how long the lie lasted or whether it was even discovered at all.
But love does not HAVE to be like this. Love does not inevitably steal your sense of self or your willingness to make your own decisions. It is absolutely possible to have a healthy love that does none of those things and this novel 100% shows that. Just because Obi-Wan and Siri's feelings for each other are genuine does not automatically make them selfless or free of attachment. And while I have my issues with this novel and the way it handles this storyline, including the fact that I'm like 85% sure that this isn't the intended message, I really like what it says about what selfish love can do to you and the way it subtly shows what true selfless love can look like.

The Jedi Order in the Prequel and Original Trilogy
I think the way Lucas wrote the Jedi in the prequels was like a well meaning but flawed organization whose main character flaw, mentioned on Episode II by Yoda himself, was pride and arrogance but they definitely are not evil neither did they deseve to be taken out as an organization the way they were.
The Sith Order wins in the prequel trilogy because the Jedi expected an open war from them, like in the past, not the Sith using the Jedi disdain for politics and force null persons agaisn´t them. Palpatine in fact used the Jedi perjuices agaisn´t them.
The Jedi had the opportunity to discover what was happening behind the scenes, with the clones, with the republic, with Anakin but choose to ignore it in favor of the idea of who they were and their history, their previous victory over the Sith and their leadership in the formation of the Republic, it isn´t wrong to be proud of those acomplishments but it´s dangerouns to use the glorious past to become blind of what´s happening now.
Obi-Wan didn´t want to believe Dooku when he told him the Sith had taken over the Senate, they criticized the republic but did nothing to try to add their own output when it was clear since Episode I that the Senate cared more about their bussines than justice, even when a planet was literally invaded, they took the clone army and didn´t ask questions about how convenient a prepared army without rights but ready and programed to fight in a civil war was, yes Yoda lamented the decision but still took in the clone army and didn´t ask anything else.
They let Anakin alone with a politician since a young age, a kid who was supposed to be under their care and when he showed clear affection for the one adult who has been telling him his emotions are not evil and that it´s alright to care for his mother, they distrusted Anakin and blamed him for their closeness.
I personally think all this is meant to underline Yoda´s and Obi-Wan´s choices in ROTS and in the Original Trilogy.
Yoda says "War does not make someone great" because it was accepting war without question the thing that ended the entire Jedi Order.
Yoda chooses to give Anakin´s children to his family and to the Organa Family because he knows they went wrong in Anakin´s upbringing and hoped they grew up better with their family, this was also the reason why Obi-Wan respected Owen´s decision to keep Luke from training, even if he resented Owen for that, he could not deny Luke´s Uncle authority there.
Owen hostility towards ObiWan is perfectly understable, Owen knows the Jedi took Anakin from Shmi but stopped them from communicating for a decade, Obi-Wan personally stopped Anakin from meeting his mother again even when he had dreams of her in danger and dying, knowing Anakin was extremely force sensitive to the force, who also had premonitions, which Yoda mentions other Jedi also have.
Anakin and Shmi were Owen´s family, the first thing Owen tells Anakin when they meet "I guess we are step brothers" why? because Owen loved Shmi and loved Anakin from what she told him about him. So of course he would protect Anakin´s child from his father´s fate with the Jedi, because wether Obi-Wan told him about Anakin being Vader or about Anakin being dead, Owen had reason to think the Jedi didn´t made the correct choices when it came to Anakin´s training so how can he trust them when it comes to Luke?
Yoda and Obi-Wan decide at first to hide from Luke the fact his father is Vader so he would not have a hard time fighthing and killing him if neccesary but their bad knowledge of who Anakin was as a person shows up again, Yoda didn´t expect Vader to tell Luke the truth and isn´t it ironic the fact the Sith tell the truth even when it hurts and the Jedi hide it?, those character choices were made by Lucas as well, to show how the Jedi are indeed correct in wanting the light side of the force to win in the universe and to end the Empire because it´s a dictatorship and even to stop Vader because he´s contributing to that but they are also flawed people with feelings, who are still clearly mourning their lost society and have stakes of their own which leads them to treat Luke and Leia by proxy, more like means to an end instead of people, despite the fact they clearly care about them.
Yoda and Obi-Wan then decide to tell Luke the entire truth and allow him to make his own decision, because Luke is the future of the Order and he needs to be free to have choices. They can´t order him around as the Jedi Council used to do in the past and they accept that, they love Luke and they told him about Leia so he would not feel so alone but also because it was his right to know about his own Sister.
So when Luke is able to bring his father back thanks for his love and compassion, heritage of his family but also for his Jedi training, he doesn´t only brings back the Jedi Anakin used to be but also the Jedi Order gets a second chance to be reborn again.
Talking about this doesn´t mean it was right what Palpatine did to them or that it was alright what Anakin did at the Temple but we can´t have a character analysis made correctly if we ignore the choices the characters are doing in the story and how it lead to their end but also how lead to their rebirth, just like in Anakin´s case, the Jedi Order fell but also got back by learning from past mistakes and making a different choice.
I think we as a fandom could use more nuance in the discussion about a story that was written with clear moral complexities even if as Lucas said, it´s a fairly tale but fairy tales always teach lessons.

more new obikin recs pleaseeee <3
Okay this has been stewing in my inbox for a while and I think I have enough new ones. I know the last one requested the last three months and I don't want a re-do, so I'm going to do a mixture of old and new faves.
✰ (Explicit, A/B/O, Complete) Molten by @zimriya
“Was Ben my omega father?” Luke asks.
The cavernous void that is Darth Vader’s heart demands that he swallow the boy whole. “Why does it matter?” he says. “Your other father clearly never wanted you. He gave you up the minute you were born.”
One truth; one lie.
This is a continuation to a past rec., Igneous. It's still canon compliant, it's basically the rest of the story. I'd say you should give these a read even if you're not usually into a/b/o, because it doesn't really linger on the whole a/b/o usual squicks people have, and it is so beautifully done. It also has a little epilogue piece which (in my opinion) has the funniest star wars imagery. I truly recommend reading these if you love canon compliant obikin.
✰(Explicit, WIP) stars to fill my dream by hidden_humours
Given a second chance, Anakin Skywalker awakes from death--into a different world than the one that made him.
Obi-Wan Kenobi, a lost young padawan still finding his way, becomes apprenticed to a living legend who doesn't seem all there...
I know reverse!padawan isn't everyone's jam, but it is mine, so you get it recced. I'm really obsessed with this story (and this author, I like the way they write slightly unhinged Anakin, they have a little one shot if you don't want to read wips, I recommend checking it out) Please note that in this story, Anakin is a bit creepy so keep that in mind.
✰ (Explicit, Complete) Sanctifica Mē by @theseptemberist
Father Obi-Wan Kenobi has never desired anything more than to guide and serve his flock. He's content with his simple life—or he would be, if not for one confessor who returns again and again, pouring sickening stories into his ear, sinful and bloody. It's unbearable, but he can't bring himself to turn away. At least, not until he finally understands.
What does Anakin Skywalker truly want from him?
I know people complain about reccing popular authors but! 1)there are always new people in the fandom, and 2)there might be people who have missed it! Hooooly shit so this is *the* yandere!anakin priest fic. It’s *so* good, as always mind the tags, but hhhhhhhhhhhh priest!obi-wan. l always keep coming back to this one, if only for the writing alone (and nothing else *cough*)
✰ (Explicit, Completed) Slow Learner by @binaryeclipse
Four times Anakin tried to fit Obi-Wan's big dick inside him and one time he managed it. or; the evolution of their sexual relationship.
I mean. Literally what it says on the tin lmaoo - but it’s so well done. It’s literally 12k of Anakin just gagging for it (how relatable,) I don’t know what else to say. As always read the tags, but also go read this fic.
✰(Explicit, WIP) Obi-Two by Viraha
After Anakin is denied the rank of master, a mysterious phenomenon in the Force creates a baffling situation right in the middle of the same Council session. Anakin is not complaining.
Or, How Two Obi-Wan Kenobi can resolve Pretty Much Everything
I usually refrain from reccing things with only a single chapter or very early in the WIP stages but this one intrigued me so much. Usually time travel fics bring in the pada-wan version, but this one has a twist. I don’t know I’m very intrigued by this one, I’ll be watching this space.
✰(Explicit, Complete) full throttle by spqr
“If you’re not first, you’re last,” Anakin says wisely. “Qui-Gon told me that once.”
I know it’s a (relatively) well known fic but I just read it again the other day and. HHHHHHHHHH rattling the walls of my enclosure. So it goes in this rec list, read this if you haven’t it’s so good. bark bark bark.
✰(Teen & Up, Complete) Hands that are earnest, brave, and true by @obi-wkenobi
On Trevo, after watching his Master be fret and fawned over by the governments elite, Obi-Wan miraculously peeled himself away from wanton eyes and returned to sit by his side, and for the first time ever, Anakin truly noticed the hands that rose to smooth back long copper hair.
Or, five times Anakin was distracted by Obi-Wan's hands, and one time that Obi-Wan noticed.
An *entire* fic about Obi-Wan’s hands y’all. It’s really soft and I’d say a feel-good fic if you’re in the mood for some fluff and love. There’s also a lot of pining (which is the draw!) but it’s all resolved in the end and it’s so beautifully done!
✰(Explicit, Complete) A Study in Tears by shatou
Anakin is used to sinking into the comfort of Obi-Wan’s arms when he is in tears. Obi-Wan is used to offering it. Neither of them realizes the moment when habit tips into heat-haze, but their acceptance for each other is boundless all the same.
(or: five times anakin gets aroused by accident when he’s crying and being comforted by obi-wan… and one time obi-wan does)
BARK HOWL CRY etc. God this fic, it really is one of *the* ones for me. I really enjoy this author’s work, but this particular fic. You know what I love, when a kink that could be considered niche, or could easily be done in a very tacky/porny way is done so intricately and artfully it just. Hhhhhhhhh it’s really good. Really good.
✰(Explicit, Complete) Beer and Paint by @intermundia
Artist!AU - it’s a part of a collection (go read all of it if you haven’t already) this is the latest stand alone chapter!
As it’s written, it’s inspired by Hayden in Life as a House, and it’s soooo delicious. Perfect mixture of hot/angsty/sweet. The atmosphere is set *so* well for a relatively shorter fic, as always i’m in awe, this was really good.
✰(Explicit, WIP) if this isn’t nice, what is? by Anonymous
"Your form has been improving remarkably quickly, Anakin," Obi-Wan said on the sparring platform one afternoon, as he wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. "Don't tell me you've actually been listening to the healer for once and doing your physical therapy."
In his adrenaline-addled mind, it took Anakin a moment to sort out what his master was talking about, but eventually his gaze drifted down to his lightsaber, or, more accurately, to the mechno-hand that held it.
"Um," he said. "Something like that."
---
Or, once he could hold a lightsaber again, it took Anakin maybe three days to learn how to jerk off with the new metal hand.
Again, what it says on the tin. It’s really well done though, I can’t wait for it to be completed. Tbh personally I really enjoy stories around Anakin’s mechno arm, and this one...well. I really really like it.
✰(Explicit, WIP) toss overboard what is too heavy to carry by @tennessoui
In the aftermath of the Clone Wars, Palpatine dead and untold tragedy averted, the Republic struggles to heal and rebuild itself.
Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi attempt to do the same with their own relationship, riddled as it has become with betrayal, distrust, and hurt. It's not going too well. Desperate and unwilling to accept that maybe their friendship is ruined, Anakin finds a counselor they can talk to, one that specializes in healing "teams."
Or, as the counselor would probably put it, married couples, which they are decidedly not. Not that she knows that though. And not that they know that she thinks they're in a romantic relationship either. What a silly assumption to make. It's not like they're more intimate than lovers or anything.
YOOOOOOOO God this fic this fic!!!!!! I don’t know if I need to rec Kit’s fics honestly, as with some other authors I can feel people going “yes we are aware of this fic” but as I said, I want to do an honest list lol. Listen this one really has the potential to end me I don’t know. I’m really into the premise, the setting, the dialogue, the everything.
✰(Explicit, Complete)  sink into the dunes by @starsdies
“How about now, my young Padawan?” Anakin shivers, the title in Obi-wan’s chiding voice taunting him. Like he already knows. “Do you need me now too?”
This has every single trope I can want in a fic - first time, virginity kink, canon-verse!!!!!! I love their dynamic in this, especially love how suave Obi-Wan is. The tone, the setting, the dialogue... chef’s kiss.
✰(Explicit, Complete)  on high by @treescape
Anakin breaks once they’re in the turbolift, alone, a dozen stories beneath the Council chamber and climbing steadily downwards.
“Are you even going to look at me?” he blurts out into the heavy silence, his own eyes fixed straight ahead. Obi-Wan stands still as stone beside him, but for the rise and fall of his chest, their shoulders just a breath from touching. His hands are folded into the sleeves of his robes, the very image of the calm Jedi Master.
It’s infuriating. It makes Anakin want to fidget, makes him want to run the edges of his own sleeves between his fingers and twist just for something else to focus on, but he catches himself just in time.
He doesn’t want to give Obi-Wan the satisfaction of sensing him squirm.
Or, Anakin returns from a series of missions and thinks Obi-Wan is angry with him.
Obi-Wan being angry with Anakin because he’s being too reckless is *my jam* I love this trope of one of them being too worried about the other one because they’re too reckless!!! This is beautifully written as always, I genuinely love angry!obi-wan so much, possibly one of my favourite obi-wans.
✰(Explicit, WIP)  the trouble with wanting by @travellingcircus
Anakin is an alpha with few hobbies, chief among them watching his favourite omega and amateur videographer Ben showcase his many, many talents. Anakin tells himself he isn't obsessed, but when he finds out Ben is a lot closer to him than he realises, he stops at nothing to get what he wants. That is, Ben's sweet little ass--even if Ben turns out to be Anakin's stuffy, buttoned-up Lit professor.
Ahhhh last but not least! Mind the tags, again with a bit of a darker Anakin in this one, but I am so obsessed with the story telling aspect and I’ll be hones the idea of ~professor kenobi being on cam on the side is just. You know. They also have a couple other stories as a part of the obikin fest s1 which you should check out!
Oookay, this was it for me this time! I know I’m probably missing some great content out there, but I don’t want to rec anything I haven’t personally read. As always, please mind the tags before you read a story, and don’t read it if you see anything that might potentially trigger you.

ok yeah I think I gotta elaborate on the hand holding because y'all... who's ever actually given Obi-Wan comfort? Hm? He's always the responsible one. The one giving comfort to others, helping in any way he can. And in the last 10 years of his exile has been much the same and now I think I know why. He keeps trying to find comfort and connection despite his solitude. In any way he can. He's not just been isolated from the force but also from people physically. And all this time we've expected he handled it well because, well, he's Obi-Wan. He's wise and powerful and in tune with his emotions and could handle being alone be. But that's not the truth of things- he hasn't been handling it well and he's been silently suffering because of it. He's not just willingly cut himself off from the force- he's having a hard time re-connecting to it too because of his isolation. He's tried to reach out with it and to others too. To Luke, who he can only watch grow-up from afar. To Qui-Gon, who's the only person who might be able to comfort HIM through all this. Even to Anakin, as painful as it is for him- he still has a great deal of regret and guilt about what happened to him and he does still wish he had his brother back. He's still trying. And whether by the force or not he's not gotten a shred of reciprocation. Owen doesn't want him to fail Luke like he did Anakin. Anakin is utterly destroyed from the man he knew and hates him and wants him DEAD. Qui-Gon is simply as absent as his connection to the force is.
... and then there's Leia. Leia who's still just a child, and who needs his help. Who he ended up deciding was worth risking his own exposure to save... and who, to no one's surprise... endeared him to her immediately. Not just because of of the fact that she reminds him of Anakin and of Padme, or that she's Luke's sister and strong with the force and important to the future of the Galaxy... But because she's a good person in and of herself in her own right. She's strong, and brave, and sharp as a tack and wise beyond her years to the point it surprises Obi-Wan a few times, and he respects her and even ALLOWS her to lead him around even though it's gotten them into trouble, who he opened up to as a result knowing she was too smart to be lied to (like he does with luke lmao). And through this journey he's really started to feel a connection to this kid. A great affection. And in his connection to her, he's starting to regain himself. Slowly. Her company has been the only thing that has gotten him to use the force, to remember how to use his own lightsaber, to remember what is right and good and needs protecting. And when he loses her and worries for her he only gets stronger- sharper. As does his connection to the force, showing a little more return with his lightsaber skills, his mind tricks, skill in espionage. And when they are reunited? He keeps her close. I know we joke about the two jedi in a trench coat thing but she's sticking to Obi-Wan like GLUE the second she's freed. That he makes her feel safe. Just like he told her the Force feels like safety. And she had been so worried that saftey was gone. She stayed strong through it all but when she sees Obi-Wan alive she's fucking relieved, and doesn't have much time to tell him such while they're trying to escape.
But then they're in the carrier. Someone else died to make sure she was safe. And it could've been Obi-Wan. And again, wise beyond her years she understands that, and understands that every moment he's spent with her is a risk to him but he does it anyway because he cares for her a great deal.
So she reaches out. And Obi-Wan is certainly not expecting it... it's more often his hand over others but this time? It's her hand over his. And that one gesture says so much. That she's GLAD he's here- and thus far? She's been the only one that genuinely is.And though it is small -and I mean literally, just her tiny little hand on his weathered ones-, it's all he's needed this entire time. And for the first time in a very LONG time, I think Obi-Wan felt just as safe in return. Safe in his abilities. Safe in the force... but most importantly safe in himself, and in the future that lays before them all. Safe with this little girl who's just as concerned for him as he is for her. And there's more power in just that alone than I think either of them fully understand, or at least can say in words. Just holding each other's hands at the end of a long rescue was enough.

little random facts with zari & the shatterpoint lineage in my star wars fix-it au
to start this off: zariza is anakin’s little sister – half-sister, technically, but rarely does anyone acknowledge the ‘half’ part
also i’m making this bc idk when i’m actually going to write this out as an actual story so y’all are getting this bullet point style for now
moving on! more background stuff: she isn’t in mos espa with anakin & shmi bc watto’s a dick who sold her when she was 3 or 4 with no warning whatsoever
but then she gets freed & depa billaba is envolved somehow (and maybe quinlan vos. i’m still figuring things out lmao) & they eventually go back to the jedi temple. this happens uhhh 3 or 4-ish months after TPM
anakin who lowkey previously resented every single council member bc they didn’t want him to join immediately loves depa for this and his 10 year old big bro brain is like “well i love you now” for saving his little sister
zari obviously adores depa as well
depa adores them back bc they’re adorable
mace “the skywalkers give me headaches” windu has a vague sense of foreboding bc of this and he doesn’t know why. it’s not bad, per se, but still
so rlly in the early years he doesn’t interact with neither zariza nor anakin a lot tbh but i mean after the kinda-murderous-droid-and-flesh-eating-plant incident they can’t fault him for doing so
only the high council members, obi-wan, my oc jedi master rheba, & the skysibs know what happened; everyone else only hears apparent rumors that are mostly wrong (but none of them know that)
when zari is having Bad Days as an initiate & nothing her crèchemates & master do helps, she finds depa and she braids zari’s hair to help her relax
depa is the reason zariza calls mace ‘window’
when he finally figures that out he isn’t surprised in the slightest
zari also has a connection to living things (v strong in the living force) but mostly plants
after catching each other in the temple’s kitchens that one night anakin was sick, mace keeps a closer eye on zariza & by proxi anakin
somehow it becomes a reoccurring thing over the years until she’s a padawan
speaking of, when zariza becomes rheba toome’s padawan it isn’t a surprise considering the togruta woman was dubbed as a ‘skywalker wrangler’
he simultaneously feels relieved and disappointed
the only one who notices this is yoda (& ok depa too)
and then when zariza and rheba go on a mission when she’s 14, things go Very Very Wrong Extremely Quickly and zari gets enslaved again and rheba dies trying to save her
fast forward through traumatic experiences and zariza gets back literally the day the clone wars starts
now she needs another master (after, y’know, debating on whether or not she actually wants to come back as a jedi padawan at the temple)
mace “skywalkers give me headaches but somehow along the way i’ve gone soft for the youngest one” windu eventually fills in that spot
anakin officially decided that, ok, maybe mace windu isn’t so bad
the Bad Day = hair braiding with depa changes to Bad Day = hair braiding with mace bc of the war
he’s mediocre at it but zari doesn’t mind. he’s not as bad as he could be at it bc he used to braid depa’s hair too
also she climbs through secret hallways, vents, etc at the temple (and in time, the vents in the venatorships). always has. it’s where she disappears to most of the time if she’s not somewhere deep within the room of a thousand fountains
one such secret passage leads to the high council’s room and when she exits the hidden door mace & depa are in the middle of the room talking about a meeting that just ended and the three stare at each other for a solid 5 seconds before zari just. backs up back into the secret passage way.
that happens during her padawan-ship under rheba but she’s been mapping the secret passage ways, the basement hallways, vents, even the fucking attic, ever since she was 7
the only other person who knows this is her best friend elvira who’s plo koon’s padawan bc i said so and also bc he deserves one
and then ezra years down the line. zari enables him in everything and caleb is Not Pleased
“get ur own padawan! ezra is my kid”
“hm no, i don’t think i will”
anakin, overhearing caleb ranting to mace and depa, master of sniffing out little sister antics thanks to zari and ahsoka: “you realize reacting like this just fuels her actions, right?”
caleb: “….well i do now”
anyway anakin tries to get zariza to give him the maps of the passages & all bc he wants to feel included but zariza is a little shit and lives for annoying her big brother so she refuses every single time
r2-d2 knows tho but just for emergencies
when anakin figures this out he tries to get it out of r2 but r2 shocks him instead
“you turned my droid against me!”
“…technically isn’t he padmé’s droid?”
“THATS BESIDES THE POINT-“
bc anakin’s a bad influence zari has known A Lot of huttese cuss words since she joined the order & accidentally teaches an 11 year old caleb dume three huttese cuss words within an hour when depa & mace’s battalions team up during the war
the adults aren’t pleased
zari and caleb are awkward with each other for 3 whole minutes the first time they meet & then they get along like a house on fire
ponds and grey try to keep an eye on them when their battalions team up for that exact reason but somehow they always lose sight of them within 30 minutes
zari thinks of caleb as a little brother
with that said the jedi are found family and you can pry that headcanon from my cold dead hands
she 1000% embarrasses him when she first meets hera
and that’s all for now or else this’ll get way too long

Does anyone else just wish to know what Shmi thought of all the stuff that went down after TPM?
Of Padme and Anakin secretly marrying?
Of her grandkids, Luke and Leia?
Of Vader?
Of literally anything?
Or is it just me?

My #1 post of 2022
Ok but what if din was there during the originals and like is crushing so hard… and Vader finds out first his daughter is falling for the smuggler now his son is falling for the mandolrin
Can we have headcanons for Vader’s reaction?
Okay, let's see here...
Now, I think we can all agree Vader does anything he can to get his hands on any and all peices of information on his son.
For "research purposes" ofc. (Not. It's cuz he's a snoop. Anakin's still in there, ya know! )
And lo and behold, what is this Vader finds?
What's this Mandalorian bounty hunter doing tagging along with Luke?
...and not bringing him in for that sweet reward Vader placed on his son's head?
So, Vader being Vader (or Anakin being Anakin) starts to keep a closer eye on this Mando.
He pours over holo footage of this Mando lending a hand to Luke, the princess, and that accursed smuggler Solo (at least Solo seems to be just as disgruntled as he is!)
So from that 3 year gap between ANH and Empire, Vader just can't shake the feeling that this Mando...there's something going on there but he can't figure out what...
AND THEN COMES BESPIN
Vader's trap is set. It goes as planned...until it doesn't. (Shocker, right?)
While that Mando's not there, he *does* overhear a little conversation between Leia and Han about him...and Luke.
He would've choked if he could.
Luke. His son. The only person he still cares about.
Is dating?
A Mandalorian?
Force, no.
Not on his fucking watch.
Vader manages to keep his indignation under control for a bit - until he blurts out (before the I am your father moment) to Luke that he *knows* about his relationship.
Luke is, understandably, confused and worried.
On one hand, "oh no Vader knows about Din!"
On the other... (mind the pun)
What does Luke's love life have to do with Vader?! Has Vader been stalking him or something?! (Yes Luke. The answer is yes.)
Then comes the reveal and Luke's ultimate escape, leaving Vader even more frazzled.
First, he finds out he has a son.
Then, that son has a boyfriend. (Who is he? What did he look like under that stupid helmet!!? How old was he - Vader needs to know, okay?!)
Then comes an offhanded comment from Boba Fett.
"Oh, a Mando is silver and red armor? Yeah I know him."

June 19: Attack of the Clones
Another Star Wars prequel down. The Attack of the Clones is so long. It’s so long. And I just realized I haven’t had any caffeine today so even though I have slept a lot, I’m also super tired.
I don’t even know what to say about it. The only two parts I remember from watching it before (possibly... in theaters) were Obi Wan on the planet with the clones and the wedding at the end. And those WERE the best parts!! The wedding was wonderfully creepy, with the droid witnesses and the gold skeleton hand and the bloody sunset. I also really enjoyed the creepy long white aliens and their many, many, many dehumanized clones. I liked that the Kaminans (? already forgot) are neither good nor bad; they just know how to do this thing--clone--and they do the thing for money, and they’re eerie and not-quite-right but not dangerous in and of themselves. They’re just a great spooky mood.
I also am really enjoying Anakin as a character and how he’s being developed into Vader from the little boy in Phantom Menace. It’s hard not to feel bad for him. Even though he literally has a full time teacher/father figure, it feels like he’s getting no guidance at all: he’s so smart and so talented and so powerful, but he doesn’t know what to do with all that. He’s un-centered and impulsive. He’s also intensely arrogant and his view of the world is dangerously simplistic. I do think he wants that guidance: he refers to Obi-Wan as like a father; when he proposes an Empire or dictatorship over a Republic, he doesn’t propose himself at the head of it. Like he wants the safety and surety of following one person and exerting power in the simplest--and thus most brutal--way. “Be mindful, Anakin” obviously works for him about as well as it works for me. He’s never learned why it might be bad to just exert brute force on the world until you get your way. He’s certainly never seen anything else work: not to stop threats against the Republic, not to save his mother, etc.
I also appreciate how the downfall narrative ties together actively evil machinations (that are actually pretty smart), well-meaning people getting understandably fooled and working against their long-term interests because they need to get out of a short-term mess, and just straight up foolishness, of the you-should-have-known-better variety. There’s Palpatine setting in motion complex plots involving creating a threat, then using that threat as a way to trick people into giving him both more power and more forces to control with that power; then there’s the Jedi trying their best; and then again the Jedi just completely ignoring big red flags like every word out of Anakin’s mouth.
That said, I am not 100% I really understand what’s going on. Does it make sense but I just can’t completely follow because of all of the big fancy CGI distractions, or are the big fancy CGI distractions there to keep me from fully recognizing that not everything makes sense? I’ll go ahead and say it’s the first but my bigger point still stands:
Yet again, this movie is way too long and way too bloated. I think it was even worse than Menace in this way, first because it was just longer, and second because the Menace story line wasn’t as complicated. There sort of was a lot going on in Attack of the Clones--in particular, Anakin and Padme’s relationship went all the way from ‘meeting again for the first time in 10 years’ to ‘married.’ which is a lot of ground to cover--but most of the run time was long chase sequences, action sequences, fight sequences. I zoned out repeatedly. The only long sequence I did like was when Anakin and Padme were in the droid...making... place but when that finished and I saw there was still something like 40 minutes left and they were gearing up for yet another long set piece... I just wanted to throw myself off a building. It was exhausting.
I don’t even know that all of those long sequences were worth it tbh. Like did they look THAT cool even in theaters twenty years ago?
I also was not fond of 100% CGI Yoda, or that awful Yoda bouncing around with a lightsaber sequence. Was not the whole point of him in Empire that a Jedi can be strong and powerful without being physically imposing?
Anyway, I imagine I’ll come to remember only the good parts of the movie, as I did with Menace, which will gear me up to watch Episode III... at some point.

May I request... a thought of AU 19? Not necessarily actual writing, I just want Shenanigans. (Or, like, Luke deciding Obi-Wan needs a hug or something and being generally more proactive about this than Anakin. And maybe making Anakin give Obi-Wan a hug too, because Obi-Wan is a Sad, Sad Man, Actually.)
[Edit: this got long enough that I’m just calling it Part Four]
Lost Luke AU
Part One - - - Part Two - - - Part Three - - - Part Four
Luke has had, as far as we know*, one (1) meaningful conversation with Ben Kenobi, immediately before time traveling. In that conversation Ben info dumped hard at Luke, informing him that, contrary to what he had been told for his literal whole life before that:
his father fought in the clone wars
his father was a cunning warrior.
his father was a good pilot
his father was a good friend
his father was a jedi
his father wanted him to have his lightsaber
darth vader killed his father
darth vader hunted down jedi
darth vader was a pupil of ben's before he fell
please note: since time traveling the first 5 things on that list have turned out to be demonstrably true, if not UNDERSTATEMENTS.
his father's a General
he's an incredible warrior
he's a flying prodigy
he's not just a friend, he's family (oh my god uncle owen kept ben from seeing me cause he didn't know they were family maybe he just heard the phrase 'former master' and didn't understand and didn't listen to the explanation aaaaaah don't think about it don't get mad at owen he loved you and he died and don't think about the fact that he's alive aaah)
anakin's not just a jedi, he's the kriffing Chosen One
he has no reason to doubt the rest of the list! why would he?! Ben is, from Luke’s perspective, the MOST trustworthy source of information he has EVER had
his father would have wanted  him to have his lightaber, sure, why would you doubt that?
LUKE LACKS SOME KEY CLARIFYING INFORMATION ABOUT ITEM SEVEN AND HAS NO REAL WAY OF OBTAINING IT
SO, one of the first things Luke does is try to figure out who obi-wan's other students are, but he doesn't frickin have any
LUKE THINKS THAT OBI-WAN'S NEXT STUDENT IS GOING TO BE DARTH VADER
which is like...let's unpack this now shall we
doing math—okay the republic falls in three years, which means that if Obi-Wan finds a 13 year old tomorrow, darth vader was 16 when he killed mceveryone??
"It could be an orphaned padawan? Maybe he finishes someone else's training?" Anakin suggested doubtfully.
"Why would he blame himself for that?" Luke asked.
"No, no he would definitely blame himself, even if he just trained vader for five minutes," Anakin sighed.
"Oh! Well than there you go, we just have to keep a look out for all current padawans, and—" Luke cut himself off at the look on his father's face. If he didn't know better, he would call it sulking.
"Do you...not think that's it?" Luke asked hesitantly
"It's just—" Anakin threw his hands in the air. "There's no way! There's no way any of the other padawans are stronger than me! Let alone an initiate."
Luke coughed awkwardly. "Uh," he said, non-pulsed. "It's not—I mean Ben said betrayed right? So it's not—not a matter of strength. I mean maybe you guys were friends? Or you thought you were?"
Anakin scowled at the thought before changing the subject back to Obi-Wan’s use of the word cunning.
There was a brief moment of intense panic on Christophsis when Obi-Wan announced his padawan would be arriving soon
which quickly turned into relief when Ashoka turned out to be Anakin’s padawn
which quickly morphed back into panic when Anakin realized HE HAD A PADAWAN
which settled eventually into excitement when Anakin grew attached to the snippy firebrand
which shot right back up to panic when he got back to Luke
Luke: “wait you didn’t request a padawan in the first place?”
Anakin: “yeah I probably would have resisted a lot harder if it hadn’t been for what you sai–aw SHIT”
Luke: “YOU WOULD HAVE MADE OBI-WAN TAKE HER”
Anakin: “AND SHE WOULD HAVE RESENTED ME BUT I WOULD HAVE LEARNED TO LOVE HER LIKE A SISTER AND TOTALLY WOULD LET HER BEAT ME IN A FIGHT IF SHE FELL BECAUSE I’VE ONLY KNOWN HER FIVE MINUTES AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENED TO HER I’D KILL EVERYONE IN THE ROOM AND THEN MYSELF”
Luke: “What?”
Anakin: “what?”
Luke: “You just said you’d kill—”
Anakin: “I was exaggerating!”
Luke: “Oh, right, obviously, sorry”
Anakin: “We can’t let Ahsoka fall!”
So Anakin spends a while convinced that Ashoka was going to fall, and maybe come out as a man, so that ends up...causing some conversations
yeah some conversations alright
Luke is a little nervous around her at first but gosh darn it she’s so likeable and Luke has so much empathy and ugh
oh lord going back to one of the conversations because holy shit:
Anakin: “it’s okay to struggle with the darksied; the important thing is to not let it overwhelm you.”
Ashoka: “yes master”
Anakin: “also its okay to be uncertain about your gender identity, especially at your age”
Ashoka: “yes master”
Anakin: "Force knows i’ve fantasized about murdering the Jedi High Council but the important thing is to not do it
Ashoka: “...master?”
Anakin: “hey, you know, eveyone feels like a different gender sometimes! most of the time i’m a man but I could totally see myself as a badass lady”
Ashoka: “um”
Anakin: look, if you every feel like murdering me in cold blood thereby preventing me from meeting my unborn child please come talk to me
Ashoka: “...I—”
Anakin: “huh maybe i am genetically a woman? since i don’t have a birth father. wow, I can’t believe i’ve never thought about this. Holy shit what if I can get pregnant?!?!”
Ashoka:
Ashoka (internally): Is this...Is this a test?
eventually Ashoka becomes too beloved to suspect anymore so we’re back to square one, nervously awaiting the day when obi-wan picks up an orphaned padawan, or the day when Anakin gets his ass handed to him by a 14 year old
Anakin: “maybe we’ve changed the timeline too much already? maybe he already ended up with someone else?”
Luke: “I still think we should just talk to Obi-Wan about this, we’ve already told him everything else.”
Anakin: “No! I don’t—I don’t want that to be his burden.”
Luke: “alright...”
LATER
Luke: (casually) “So! Are you thinking of getting another padawan sometime soon?”
Obi-Wan: “Ha! My hands are full enough with the three of you, I should think.”
Luke: “The...three of us?”
Obi-Wan: “Yes well, Anakin might technically be a knight, Ashoka might technically be my grandpadawan, and you might technically be a civilian, but between the three of you my teaching schedule is rather full up.”
Luke:
Luke: “You’ve been teaching... me.”
Obi-Wan: “Well, you are a natural, and I apparently did offer in the—in a future, and while the rest of the council might not approve, Anakin did make a rather good point that you’ve got too much natural potential to completely ignore. Did you... not notice? I know, all things being equal, I might not have been the first choice, and your padawanship isn’t exactly official, but—
‘Luke: “IGOTTAGO”
Luke: [bursting into his father’s room] “HOLY KRIFF I’M BEN’S PUPIL”
Anakin: “What?”
Luke: “IT”S A TIME LOOP YOU HAVE TO STOP ME BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE”
Anakin: “whoa, slow down—”
Luke: “I’M DARTH VADER!”
Anakin: “You’re not Darth Vader”
Luke: “I’M DARTH VADER”
Anakin: “YOU’RE NOT DARTH VADER!”

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jon Antilles are best friends.
We've accidentally met in the room of the Thousands Fountains as children and instantly hit it off.
Obi would get very accurate visions about Jon, so he knows his friend is alright and Jon would sent messages when he could.
That also share an unlikely bond that allows them to see each other and talk, if both of them meditate at the same time.
They make it work. They're very close. Jon is the only one who knows everything about Obi-Wan’s Padawanship and Obi is the one Jon comes to when everything feels too much.
But here lies the problem.
Jon never comes to the Temple.
Ever.
He's just not comfortable.
And when someone asks Obi-Wan who's his best friend and gets 'Jon Antilles' as an answer they don't believe him.
Quinlan thinks Obi-Wan’s joking.
Ahsoka thinks her Grandmaster is just private and is not comfortable with sharing personal information.
Anakin thinks Obi-Wan is just trying to annoy him because obviously he is Obi-Wan’s best friend.
No one thinks Obi-Wan tells the truth.
Because Jon Antilles is such a common name.
There are literally thousands Jons only on Coruscant.
But Obi-Wan doesn't realize they don't believe him. So he just joins in when Anakin jokes about it, let's the clones laugh it up once in a while. He doesn't think anything about it.
And so, one day, Bones comes to the medbay, to check on the General only to find him wrapped around some random guy, sleeping.
Bones stops, his thoughts are something like "Holy hell, there the kark this guy came from? Who the hell is that? And why does the General cuddle him like a favorite plush tooka?" Which he doesn't voice, carefully not to wake the General who's finally sleeping!
The guy, however, is awake and gives Bones an annoyed look. "That's what happends when you give him Kireffon." He says and Obi-Wan swats at his chest in his sleep and mumbles that pillows do not talk.
And Bones is slowly backing away from the room while comming Commander Cody because he is not going to deal with this crap.
And when Cody arrives and before he even opens his mouth the guy goes "Ah, you must be Cody. Obi-Wan talks a lot about you."
Cody doesn't have a clue how to respond to that, and he doesn't have a chance to find out, because Obi-Wan's waking up and looking around sleepily.
"Cody! You're alright!" Obi-Wan cheers with a bright smile. Then frowns. "Who else is alright?"
"Everyone is alright, sir. The only injured one is you." Bones chimes in.
Obi-Wan nods into the guy's chest. "Good."
Cody raises the eyebrow of judgement. "Good? You almost got yourself killed! What were you thinking, opening yourself like that?"
"A rock was going to fall on Crys." Obi-Wan replies slowly. "Crys can't survive a rock that size falling on him. And I like Crys! I can survive a stray blaster bolt. I did it before, Jon, tell them!" He tugs at the guy - Jon's - sleeve and holy hell, is that really who Cody thinks it is?
Jon nods seriously, looking up at Cody. "He did." And Obi-Wan is so happy to get a confirmation, he just beams and then snuggles back to get more sleep because he is comfy.
Jon dissappears the next morning and no one says anything to Obi-Wan once the drugs are out of his system.
But after that Jon just starts randomly dropping by to chat or to give Obi-Wan some new tea he found. He eventually makes friends with the Ghost Company and most of the 212th. He even joins them on some campaigns.
And still no one believes he is real.
Obi-Wan is still oblivious of it but the whole 212th thinks it's hilarious.
They just keep mentioning Jon to their brothers and other Jedi, to see their reaction.
It escalates to the point where Anakin gets fed up with all this Jon-thing and barges into Obi-Wan’s office to tell him to stop.
To find Obi-Wan, Cody and some guy having tea.
"Oh Anakin, come in. I believe you haven't met yet - Jon Antilles, my dear fri-"

OKAY so on the topic of Star Wars takes wrt “character ends up in an A/B/O universe where they’re an omega, but they were previously a cis male in their canon”
@atagotiak and I had some Thoughts on discord
So, obviously, Anakin would make a good omega and he’s also incredibly murdery. Foregone conclusion that we're using him for this.
There is no preexisting Anakin in the Omegaverse. He shows up JUST as the war is starting. Canon timeline is in the third year of the war (he’s 22), but whatever dumped him into omegaverse also tossed him back a few years. No de-aging, just a bit of mismatched timeline stuff.
He's... really good at war, and clearly a Jedi, so the Temple just kind of goes "WELL OKAY THEN, SURE, YOU'RE IN, EVERYONE PRETEND HE'S BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TIME." The Jedi, by and large, don't care about omegaverse dynamics beyond 'what do you need, medically, to be happy and healthy' and 'what do you need to be aware of so you can be prepared for biases you encounter in the field?’
None of the civilian natborns (mainly politicians) want to put him on the field because of those biases. Anakin, being Anakin, is VERY blatantly an omega in scent, has never been on suppressants (because it wasn't a thing he fucking NEEDED), is incredibly emotional as a person, loves kids, etc.
Like, nobody wants an omega fighting a war anyway, but THIS one is like PINNACLE omega, and those awful Jedi are making him FIGHT just because he's good at stab!
The Jedi: Actually, it's because he's got several years of war experience that we don't, and he's a good tactician that works well with the clones-- Coruscant: You MONSTERS The Jedi: Look, we gave him the option to not stab and he looked absolutely devastated. Anakin, several days earlier: You don’t want me? I’m not good enough??? Jedi: Also he can beat up at least half the temple.
He doesn't know a damn thing about dynamics, but he DOES know that sometimes he's so horny he wants to stab HARDER. The clones are largely disinterested in their generals' dynamics because between mostly-Mando* trainers and no-dynamic Kaminoans, they only really care if a person can shoot.
* Mandalore approves of Fighty Omegas. As far as (traditional) Mandalore is concerned, you want an omega that will kill the threats to your children as well as you do.
Anakin: You know more about being an omega than I do. Rex: ...I'm an alpha. Anakin: Yeah. Let that one sink in a bit.
We have two options for Obi-Wan!
Omegaverse local Obi-Wan (beta) has never met this man before, and is very unnerved that the immediate default reaction Anakin has to his presence is releasing Family pheromones as if Obi-Wan is his DAD and like. This strange, too-tall man from another dimension has got absolutely NO control over what he projects in the Force OR in his dynamic.
Obi-Wan was ALSO transplanted from canon to omegaverse, and is also an omega, for contrast reasons. He is nice and friendly and and likes poetry and that sort of thing... but also he has the highest dismemberment count in the movies. Also he doesn’t prioritize romance.
We went with the second one because it's hilarious.
Someone watching them spar: Wow, omegas from that universe are terrifying.
As previously mentioned, now with some tweaking to account for both: Obi-Wan and Anakin just straight up don't exist until they drop headfirst into the council room, already covered in blood. (It's mostly not theirs.)
Nobody realizes either one is an omega until they "naturalize" to this dimension and Anakin goes into heat... and doesn't realize it, actually, because his primary symptom is heightened protectiveness and aggression. Everyone else with the right nose realizes, because the man has no control over his pheromone production, but Anakin? No. He just stabs. He’s angry and horny and he will cut someone.
Ahsoka has no reaction to human pheromones but basically everyone smells Anakin's "my child!" reaction to her, so... Cool. Have a padawan, we guess.
Anakin ends up sparring a lot with Aayla and Ahsoka, because only humans and near humans have dynamics, so these two don't REACT to the pheromones situation.
(Palpatine is a Kindly Old Beta who tries to treat Anakin the way he EXPECTS Anakin wants to be treated, which is. Not. Accurate.)
(Anakin hates it.)
I'm just so in love with "An omega can't fight." "You wanna fuckin' bet?"
There are plenty of omega Jedi, by the way, it's just... most of them can keep it relatively low-key instead of Anakin's jet-engine broadcast. Some, if they're known to be omega, probably take advantage of being underestimated, like Obi-Wan probably (and especially a version of Obi-Wan that was always an omega, unlike this version). They have a very different way of presenting themselves than Anakin, who's not subtle about being an omega and also not subtle about being all aggressive and stabby.
At one point, Anakin has to protect some Very Traditional Individuals who get all "Stay back, Omega, it's not safe!" and he's just... so tired of this shit. “You are squishy civilians and I'm a trained Jedi Knight and accomplished GAR General who's killed more people in one sitting than there are in this entire palace. Sit the fuck down and let me do my job.”
It starts making the rounds that Anakin insisted on fighting in person, and the rumors shift from "how dare the Jedi force an omega to fight" and over into things that are deeply hurtful in-universe in the vein of "broken omega" and some people try to say it to his face but like...
He didn't grow up here.
He doesn't care.
Say that to one of his friends and he's going to rip out your spleen, probably, but say it to him and he's just staring at you flatly and asking if that's a negative on getting away from the encroaching battle droids, sir?
"You're rather unpleasant for an omega, aren't you?" [deeply offensive] "I literally could not give less of a fuck about your opinion. Move."
It's not that there aren't omegas that act like Anakin, either, it's just that most of them aren't, you know, Jedi who regularly interact with the upper crust, or capable of his level of destruction. Unbeknownst to Anakin, everyone clocks him as Outer Rim based on his behavior, well before his accent gives him away, and certainly before he mentions he's from Tatooine, because Core Omegas Don't Act Like That.
Someone they meet in a more diplomatic setting says something decently passive-aggressive about how at least Obi-Wan acts more like how an Omega should. Then a battle breaks out for some reason, and... well. Anakin and Obi-Wan cause such a scandal by keeping score of kills in a battle, don’t you know?
Turns out sending Anakin to fight Ventress is great because she keeps expecting him to react a certain way but NO he's here to STAB.
I like the idea that Obi-Wan's favorite opponent these days is Grievous because the cyborg doesn't have a nose, and thus gives zero fucks about dynamics or heats. Dooku is a rich old man who has opinions heavily influenced by Sith Juice Making Him More of a Dick, and the Dathomiri can smell dynamics even if they don't have them, and so they have biases about those things. Meanwhile, Grievous is just there to Kill, and Obi-Wan genuinely appreciates the lack of commentary on his dynamic.
Dooku’s probably an alpha, or a beta who's used the whole "we are more level-headed" thing as one of several angles to keep himself the public face and supreme commander of the CIS.
On to more fluffy things that have less to do with political biases.
There's a lot of "I'm upset that my loved ones don't know me," but also please understand the appeal of Obi-Wan marching up to Quinlan like "Yes, hello, I understand you've been read in on the full situation behind myself and my former padawan. I was close friends with your alternate universe self, which I feel is necessary disclosure before I propose the following: Would you like to join me for my upcoming heat, as I have minimal experience with the dynamics situation and even fewer people I actually trust, and I believe I can put my faith in you to treat it as casually as necessary while still having control and respect for my person."
(The Team is in a fairly safe place to process stuff, but having sudden unexpected changes to your biology has gotta be a little traumatizing, on top of ending up in a universe where none of your friends know you and people have a whole host of unfamiliar forms of sexism to point at you.)
Obi-Wan, who wasn't quite touch-averse but was much more easily overwhelmed by physical contact than Anakin (who craved it), suddenly finds his body switching gears and insisting on cuddles with Trusted Loved Ones, which is.... mostly Anakin, on account of nobody else really knowing him yet. Also Ahsoka, who is aware that she's something of a replacement for her alt-universe self, but Anakin explained it as "I love you so much no matter which dimension I'm in or what you're like, and I'd like to get to know you the way I got know her."
(It's rather eloquent for Anakin. He got Obi-Wan to help him draft up the script for when he pitched taking on omegaverse Ahsoka as a padawan.)
Anakin gets a more intensely sexual heat than 'usual' at one point for Reasons (IDK it could be as innocuous as 'we got better food than the usual rations and my body is reacting to the higher fat content with the belief that it's safer to have a baby now'), which nobody takes a whole lot of notice of because they're in a WAR, and also this is only his fourth one so it's not like he's got a lot to compare it to... except then the predominantly alpha clones can't stop themselves from reacting to the pheromones, mostly by wandering past his door and asking if he needs anything, offering up alpha-scented blankets and stuff for the nest to soothe the hormones, bringing snacks and electrolyte drinks, and like, Anakin is flattered, really, but fuck off please.
(He got a warning from medical a few hours before it hit that it would be different, so he actually does have alpha-scented fabrics to help him out. Apparently that's a thing you can just ask friends for, so he asked Rex if he had anything on hand that he could spare. He now has one of Rex’s recently-used sheets and a bodyglove in the nest.)
(Anakin has no idea how to feel about the nesting instinct, but at least it’s warm.)
Tia asked "Oh hey, who has the scared and horny reaction to his carnage?" and like.
Listen. I'm not saying I've been low-key imagining this as Rex being a very subby alpha who's really into Anakin's whole Thing but...
At one point Anakin gets injured in a way that requires painkillers and he ends up whining to the point of almost crying about the fact that nobody is cuddling him right now in medbay and Kix just gives up and comms Ahsoka to come hug her weird older brother.
And Then There Is Purring.
That’s a Thing Now.
Rex ends up in the pile somehow. He came over to check on Things and ended up yanked in by half-asleep, half-high Anakin, who has a grip like an octopus and no impulse control and is purring like a pod motor while NUZZLING HIM.
There’s a lot of blackmail photos featuring Rex’s very intense blush as he’s cuddled by his commander (giggling at him) and general (clinging like a tooka and rubbing himself all over).
Anakin is deeply offended that ANYONE thinks he'd want to get pregnant by just any old person, NO he needs to fall in LOVE there needs to be EMOTIONAL DRAMA and if Padme won't have him (apparently she's in a relationship and no he's not BITTER) then he'll find someone else to have a whirlwind romance with!
People think Anakin's a slut because he can't control his pheromone production (he has NO practice and for health reasons he can't go on suppressants) so he always smells open and ready for flirtations, which Obi-Wan also has to a somewhat lesser degree (he's older so his body just naturally produces less), and then someone tries to cross a boundary and grabs his ass and ANYWAY Anakin has to now fill out an incident report for breaking a civilian's arm.
Again.

Hello again! Hope you're having a good day)
Writing/characterization anon reporting for duty again.
Maybe you could elaborate on how you see Anakin, as well. It would be a great honor and a big help to hear your take.
I mean, I've read metas that spoke about the more human aspects of his character, the trauma and vulnerability, the search for justice and the fear of loss that drives his turn to the dark side.
Also, some interesting points can be made about his connection to the Force and role as the Chosen One from the perspective of how touching divinity and yet being mortal messes with human beings on a fundamental level.
But then there's also the whole business of him being a capable commander and General?
Basically, I'm scared of writing Ani as too cringefail, or veering too much into "no flaws all hero" territory.
Also, the Obi-Wan and Anakin comic confuses me greatly. I mean, the kid chooses to stay. He clearly sees something in being part of the Order at that point. I wonder what moment made him change his mind...
Thank you so so much for taking time to read this and for answering my other ask!
Good luck and have a good one, pal.
I have been thinking about this all day, and I’m not sure I’m going to come up with a great answer. I’m definitely not the expert on all things Anakin and writing him is still something I’m figuring out. But I’m willing to let you know my thoughts, for what they’re worth! (Keep in mind I also have spent a long series writing Anakin as a good dad, and granted I did my best with how that *could* have come to be in entirely different circumstances, we all know Anakin Skywalker was not good parenting material.)
I think I can get away with a lot writing Anakin in modern aus, when it’s able/necessary to disregard his sheer overwhelming power, and Palpatine’s literal evil influence. When we take those away, it’s a less complex, overwhelming character to work with. Then I can focus on conveying his main personality trait: intense.
I recently wrote this from the perspective of (slightly manipulative) serial killer Obi-Wan in a letter to not yet murder Anakin that I feel like sums it up:
You love as you do all things: fully, completely, and without reservation. Your pain cuts deep because your passion burned intensely. You deserve a lover that will delight in every part of you, Ani. You need someone who will love you just as intensely and as fully as you give yourself to them.
Whatever Anakin does is intense. His anger is rage, his love is passionate and possessive. He cares too much, his worries are all consuming.
In modern aus I generally pick one side of that to play out or else it’s *too* intense for most settings. Usually anxiety. But also impulsiveness/moved by passion. Possessive. Eager to please.
In universe though? The sky is the limit, especially as it plays out with his connection in the Force. I also think it’s really interesting to play around with what parts of Anakin are revealed to whom (who sees uncomfortable hints of darkness, who sees the need for control, who sees that a lot of his arrogant or reckless actions are because he has the sense of responsibility that he *has* to be the one to solve the problem or win the battles or else people die)
I don’t know if this helps at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’m just never going to be over how viciously horrific Sidious and Vader’s relationship is.  How deeply it cuts into me every time it gets any kind of focuse, like I am genuinely physically uncomfortable reading these pages, in exactly the way I’m supposed to be. That it’s not just about Vader having failed him (by letting Luke escape, by letting the rebel decoy who looked like Padme Amidala escape), but about Vader’s emotional state, that he’s drowning in grief, rather than fear. That this isn’t just Sidious punishing him for failing the task he was set to--though, there’s an element of that--but that he’s keeping Vader weak and small for his own benefit.  It’s such horrific abuse, the moment Vader might have any other connection outside of Sidious, anything that might actually mean something, Sidious does this to him, and it’s such a classic abuse tactic, where anything that builds the other person up that’s not reliant on the abuser, it gets punished and stripped away from them and they’re made to feel fearful just thinking about those things. Because that’s a huge part of why Anakin never rebelled, even after everything Sidious had done to him, even after he knew that Sidious wanted the list of Force-sensitive younglings to potentially replace him in Dark Lord of the Sith, even after Sidious punished Vader for the destruction of the Death Star simply because the others were dead and Vader was the only one left to take his rage out on, even after he knows that Sidious lied to him. Because Anakin was desperate to feel special and unique, that’s how Palpatine slithered his way into Anakin’s heart in the first place, by telling him his feelings made him special, by telling him he was so much better than the Jedi ever saw him as, by telling him he was the Chosen One and should be treated better for it. Which, of course, is exactly what Sidious uses to dig into him when he wants to hurt Anakin--”You were the chosen one, were you not?  But who chooses the chosen one?  And why could they not choose another?” The foundations of Palpatine luring Anakin over to the dark side were his fear of losing Padme and telling Anakin he was chosen, he was special, he was the most important.  And Anakin desperately clung to that because it was the only thing he really had once he turned his back on the Jedi and embraced the dark side.  He couldn’t tolerate the idea of Obi-Wan or Ahsoka taking him back (even though he knew they would) because they would always know what he’d done, he couldn’t face that he’d been the one to ruin everything and all for nothing.  He had to have something.  He was the most powerful Jedi ever, he was the chosen one, he was worth something because he hung his hat on those things, that Sidious couldn’t replace him because Vader was stronger than all of them, had sacrificed more than any of them. And then Sidious tells him, nah, you’re not special, you aren’t chosen, anyone can be chosen. All while crushing his legs and ripping them off him and stranding him back on Mustafar and telling him to save himself without the Force, all to make Vader terrified and afraid and so scared that he could never even think of turning to anyone but Sidious.  Because he has to fight for his place as the chosen apprentice of Sidious, he has to fight for this crumb of meaning in his life, he has to subsume himself in the darkness because it’s all he’ll ever have, no one else could ever choose him. ”Forget Padme.  Forget the boy.  Forget everything.. but your Emperor!” Sidious says as he literally rips Vader’s suit apart.  You’re not worth anything to anyone but me and the lessons I deign to teach you. And knowing that Anakin will eventually break free from that horrible grip Sidious has on him, knowing that Vader has done monstrous things in the galaxy, doesn’t stop my heart from aching, and like.  That’s Anakin Skywalker as a character for you!  Literal baby killer that I’m crying about because the path he chose is so cruel to him.

obi-wan kenobi + reuniting after order 66
a/n: i am evil and wrote a whole fic about him fucking off to tatooine and leaving his love behind for safety reasons. and rest assured, i will finish and post it sometime over the next 25 years but for now, here's some soft(ish) headcanons based on something similar, but with a happier ending. enjoy. - jazz
Tumblr media
you're on the forefront of obi-wan's mind during the entire ordeal: from the second he realises that the clones have turned on the jedi, to confronting anakin - your safety is all he can think about.
some part of him figures that you're smart enough to find a way out. another part of him realises that other jedi he assumed would be the same were now gone.
and it kills him inside a little bit because all he's ever promised is that he'll keep you safe. he's kept it up this far - going on dangerous missions with you, cleaning you up when you arrive back from your solo adventures, warning you away from the silly situations you somehow find yourself in
but this whole thing is bigger than you. it's bigger than him too and it's all beyond either of your control.
the first time obi-wan sees you after the order has fallen is on alderaan, in the entrance to the organa household - it was the first place you both thought to go and you knew that bail organa would keep you as safe as possible
you know that scene in titanic where rose jumps off of the lifeboat and runs backs to jack and they reunite in the ballroom and it's the greatest in cinematic history?? yeah it's like that
you crossed the room in a flash he has his arms around your waist immediately, holding you tighter than he ever has before. there's one large hand splayed out on your back and the other holding the back of your head.
then he presses a passionate kiss to your lips - it doesn't matter who sees now. obi-wan literally does not give a single shit. not a flying fuck. he's lost everything else and you're all that matters.
he just had to hold you for a little while. he thought he'd truly lost everything, but he can't have done when you're right there. bruised and battered but hell, you're alive
and that's the moment that obi-wan realises he has to hold onto you - not because you're quite literally all he is, but but because you're quite literally all he needs
everything else is gone - his job, his best friends, the entire world as he knew it.
it hurts, but the minute he holds you, there's a glimmer of hope. and he knows he's going to be okay.

perspective flip for the beginning of lost to a sea of troubles, or the morning after of the same?? pretty please? but also enjoyeth your hiatus, miss kit, your absence will be felt
ok this is literally sooooo short but i love this fic and also writing sith!obi-wan i am just running out time before my hiatus so please have 500 words of sith!obi-wan contemplating asleep!anakin in the morning after the main events of "lost to a sea of troubles"
(500 words)
In the morning, Obi-Wan cleans his teeth to rid himself of the stench of lies that feel as if they’re haunting his breath.
He won’t need to lie anymore now. He has him.
He has Anakin Skywalker.
Keeping him now will be the easiest thing in the world. The padawan is gone—and what a slap in the face it had been, to learn that the Jedi Council had given a twenty year-old boy permission to train a padawan, when Obi-Wan at twenty-five had been denied—
No. It does no good to dwell on that. Anakin’s padawan is gone. And so Anakin is alone.
From everything he can find about the man, he thinks that Anakin doesn’t do alone well. Which means that Anakin is that much weaker. That much more likely to become his.
As he was always meant to be.
It feels like relaxing one’s shoulders, to rinse his face and then stare into the reflection of the mirror and watch blue fade into the searing yellow he has known so intimately all these years.
Anakin is still asleep. He’d exhausted himself last night. For Obi-Wan. It had been so sweet watching the boy go from reluctant to eager, performing for his amusement until even that faded and all Obi-Wan was left with was Anakin’s actual, genuine reactions to his touch.
So sweet. He had been…so sweet in the end.
Obi-Wan is under no illusions, of course. He knows that in the next year, perhaps longer, he will never truly have Anakin like that again.
The task of revealing himself will shatter Anakin’s tentative trust in him.
But it will be worth it.
To have him—oh, it will be worth it.
He’d been denied—for so long. This was the only way to claim what’s his.
Anakin will come to understand.
He can see it now. His force signature is so close to Falling. It’s teetering on the edge. Really, it’s borderline neglect to leavee him in such a statee.
Surely he would be better—happier—under Obi-Wan’s control. In his life.
Surely he would flourish given the chance Obi-Wan could give him. The instruction. The guidance. The Council had been wrong to keep them apart.
They should realize that.
They will.
Soon.
Obi-Wan sits on the edge of the mattress and looks consideringly at the man spread out before him. It will most likely be a very taxing few months. But it will be worth it. Having Anakin—not for his power, his beauty, his skill, but simply because he is Anakin—that will be worth it.
He should wake Anakin up. To gently ease him into this new situation would be best.
But before he can, his comm buzzes. His master.
He sneers and removes himself from Anakin’s bed. Fine.
Fine.
“Good morning, Master,” he purrs into the commlink, like the title means anything at all now that he has what he has wanted above all else spread out before him. “How are you today?”
