#but I mean I could take my laundry to a laundromat if I really didn't want to use that washing machine I guess

I got to look at the room in the dormitory and now I'm torn between taking it and running, or maybe taking a bit more time to find something... less really cramped and where the washing machine doesn't smell sour, somehow
#and i have to decide today help#like yeah my flatmates are awful and I hate them and am in a bad mood whenever they're home#but they're usually gone on the weekends so at least I'm alone then#there's Something weird about the dormitory I looked at but I can't put my finger on it. apart from the awful smell in the laundry room#but I mean I could take my laundry to a laundromat if I really didn't want to use that washing machine I guess#there's shared kitchens there too but oh well i've done that before#but by god am I looking forward to living alone after university#all I want is a flat with enough space for a large bed or a pull-out couch for when friends visit#and ideally a balcony and cats allowed#mine#jess' flatmate rants#am I being too picky? all student rooms are very small and shared kitchens and bathrooms are normal#what really threw me off was the washing machine ngl#aaah maybe that's another thing: my old dorm was bigger so more anonymous#this one has a kitchen for 8-10 people#i'm not very social; I don't want to be friends with the people in my dorm; I want to be alone and left alone when I'm at home#anyway. guess I have that to consider for the next hour or so#aah Vse Kar Vem came up and I'm crying again; wonderful#also you know those days when anyone talking in the same room as you makes you want to murder them? i'm on like week two or three of that#with no stop and idk why and what's wrong; send help#ngl maybe my problem is less with the dorm itself and more that I literally can't imagine a good future for myself right now#where I get to not live either in my childhood bedroom forever or only ever with flatmates which. I'm never moving in with strangers again#and I have no friends I could move in with who would want that or don't already live with their boyfriends

One Long Weekend: - Clyde/YN One-Shot Series CH 14
"What happened son?" "I met a girl."
Tagging: @roryculkinluvr @siriuslymooned @cc-luvr @crypticsewerslut @icarus-star @desert-springtime @shady-the-simp @izuoyarmin
SUNDAY, 9:00PM
Clyde stood at the laundromat for two hours doing his dirty laundry. He tried to keep his mind focused on anything but Y/N but he just couldn't stop looking at his phone. He realized he never got her phone number which made him feel like an idiot. Snow had texted him throughout the day asking if he had heard from her yet and by the afternoon time, he finally asked her to stop asking because it was bumming him out.
He kicked around the apartment for awhile, cleaning random things. His apartment had never looked so put together, even when he moved in. Johnny had stopped in to see if he wanted to go to a show tonight but when he saw the state of the apartment, he was worried.
"Dude...are you moving out or something?" Johnny ran his hand on the kitchenette counter and it wasn't sticky for a change.
"No I just...I can't stop thinking about Y/N and the possibility that I may have fucked up. I've been trying to stay busy all day but she hasn't called or texted...nothing." Johnny knew that Clyde wasn't someone who put himself out there romantically. He knew he was really into Y/N when he finally stepped up and asked her out because usually he would provide safe haven for people and let them drift off into the night whenever they wanted to. She was different. He could tell his best friend really cared about this girl.
"Did you ask Snow if maybe she's called her? I mean I know she's got her number because she sent pictures to her from the other night." Johnny tried and Clyde's eyes went wide.
"Snow has her number?! She didn't say that!" Clyde snatched his phone up and started texting Snow immediately. She apologized and sent him her number and the photos she had.
"Look, I don't want to leave you here like this man. Why not just come out for a little bit to take your mind off of things. She'll call. She was definitely into you. Beau was actually butthurt she turned him down for you." Clyde looked at Johnny.
"She did?" He asked almost desperately.
"Yeah man! You've gotta stop shitting on yourself. That's my job!" Johnny put him in a headlock and Clyde pinched his nipple.
"I'm good here man. I might take a drive later just to grab groceries but I'll hit you up. Thanks for having my back." Clyde held his hand out and Johnny dapped him up, pulling their hands to his chest in a side hug.
Clyde considered actually going to the grocery store just to restock in case Y/N just randomly showed up but first he tried to text, just to check in.
"Hey, it's Clyde. I was thinking about you and wanted to check in." Clyde sent the text, thumb shaking over the SEND button for a few moments before he let it fly. He sat on the couch, bouncing his knee up and down for about 10 minutes before pacing back and forth, biting his thumbnail.
"Jesus I'm fucking losing it." Clyde raked his hands through his hair and pocketed his phone. He walked out of the apartment, jumping in the van and batting the idea of doing a drive by around in his head. He had no idea what she drove so checking the lot for a car was pointless. He kept checking his phone but the message still went unanswered. He cruised past her apartment complex but there weren't any lights on.
"Okay if she's not home, why isn't she answering her phone?" Clyde said outloud to himself.
"Fuck it." He dialed the number and waited.
"The number you are trying to reach is currently not available."
Clyde felt like he had been punched in the gut. He tossed his phone on the seat and shook his head. This wasn't like him. He wasn't this guy and he hated that he was acting this crazy. He pulled away from her apartment and just started driving. He didn't want to go back to his apartment and he didn't want to be around anyone so he went to the last place anyone would look for him.
He knew it was late but he didn't see a car in the driveway which meant either no one was home or he was about to walk in and create chaos. He used the key and made sure to enter the code in the keypad before the alarm sounded but he jumped when his dad popped around the corner.
"Jesus Clyde! You scared the hell out of me. What are you doing here?" His dad was holding a carton of milk in one hand and his cellphone in the other.
"I...um...I don't know if Shelly is home or not but I was wondering if I could stay here tonight." Clyde tucked his hair behind his ear and his Dad knew something was wrong. Clyde never asked to do many things. He usually would just do things and try to charm people into not being pissed about it. Despite being kicked out of the home, Clyde had a decent relationship with his dad. He was always kind of a little shit to his step mom and shooting the dog didn't help but his dad was actually grateful. They both couldn't handle watching the dog suffer any longer.
"She's out of town so you can stand down." Clyde relaxed and followed his dad into the kitchen.
"Are you hungry? I was about to make some cereal." He grabbed Clyde a bowl knowing the boy stayed hungry but Clyde shook his head.
"Is everything okay? You never turn down food." His dad sat down at the table and Clyde stayed in the corner, arms crossed bouncing on his feet.
"Yeah I'm...I'm fine. I just have a lot on my mind." Clyde didn't meet his dad's gaze until the screech of the chair legs across the floor sounded, his dad extending his arm inviting him to sit. Clyde did and started biting his thumb again.
"What happened son?" His dad was beginning to really worry.
"I met a girl." Clyde breathed.
"Oh God! Is she pregnant? Is she okay? How long-"
"No God no! Nothing like that. I just...I've never felt like this before and I keep thinking I already fucked it up or if I hadn't then I absolutely will." Clyde rambled.
"Oh...well that's good. Not that you think you'll fuck it up but that, you know...no babies...not yet anyway. You know I wouldn't mind being a grandpa just not...you know, right now." Clyde shook his head. It was times like this where he knew what traits he got from him and what he got from his mom, which wasn't much.
"You think you love her?" Clyde looked at him pained.
"Yeah...I'm pretty sure I do which is crazy. I mean we spent two days together and I can't stop thinking about her but I don't know! How do you know? I've never been in love before." Clyde racked his hands through his hair and his dad reached out to him.
"Son, you've got to take a breath. Love isn't something that should make you carry dread. You have a big heart so the idea of falling in love with someone can be scary but if the person truly has the same feelings, they'll never make you feel that dread." Clyde nodded at his dad.
"What if she doesn't realize I'm like this? What if she finds out I've been freaking out about her all day and she's too overwhelmed by it...by me?" His dad laughed.
"Clyde, if she spent even two hours with you, I'm sure she knows that you are a hurricane of chaos but in the best way. You've just got to let her meet you halfway." Clyde felt like that would be impossible. He was so anxious about the whole situation that he didn't know if he liked feeling like this if it was what love was.
His phone beeped in his pocket and his heart jumped. He pulled his phone from his pocket and frowned.
"Is it her?" His dad inquired.
"No just Snow." Clyde opened the message and saw it was a picture of him and Y/n from last night. She was sitting on his lap, arm around his neck and they were both laughing. She had her eyes on him and looked comfortable being so connected to him. He looked truly happy just being able to be in her presence.
"This is Y/N. Snow must have taken it the other night." Clyde didn't usually show his dad photos of his friends because he knew how all of them looked out on the town.
"She's very pretty. She seems to be pretty infatuated with you..unless she just likes to sit on everyone's lap and wrap her arms around them." Clyde chuckled.
"No actually. She's pretty good about her personal space." Clyde said making his dad laugh.
"Just not when it comes to you...I wonder why that might be? I think she might like you a little bit." Clyde rolled his eyes.
"You look like you need sleep kid. Go upstairs, get comfortable and if you head out early, please let your old man know. Things will work themselves out. You just have to let it fall into place." His dad gripped his shoulder and Clyde nodded. He didn't come to his dad too often for these sorts of talks but he could tell it meant a lot to him. Clyde climbed the stairs and flopped down on his bed unsure of how he was just supposed to sleep.

Character Benny Watts
Couple Benny X Reader
Rating Flirty
I was sitting on the small ottomans in the basement that Benny called home, Next week was Paris and we were going together as Co-Champions this year. He had graciously offered his apartment so I didn't have to book a hotel so we could train and prep for the games ahead. Plus I wanted to come to New York for some shopping anyway. But this place isn't exactly what I imagined... then again now thinking about it, I'm not sure I did imagine Benny to live any better than this, but it's just a little jarring when it's true. I glanced away from my book and looked around the grey dimly lit basement, the shower in the corner, no sofa, frosted window to the bedroom, the kitchen not much more than a fridge, a counter and a single stovetop. And there he sat utterly in his element at his table no shoes but still black socks, his dark jeans his belt sat comfortably his knife in its holster, a black t-shirt with his green textured shirt on over it with the sleeves rolled up, his chains against his chest and his arms, rings across his fingers, he sat his coffee cup on the table fixed his facial hair and focused back to his board moving the piece he had been contemplating for the last ten minutes.
"Benny?" I asked
"Yeah?" He asks glancing up
"I don't mean to ... pry into your personal business -"
"But you're going to?"
"I am going to," I nodded "Do you actually live like this?"
"Yeah?"
"This isn't like some elaborate prank? And this is like where you store your chess board or something and you actually have a decent semi-detached townhouse in Queens?" I asked
"You're really struggling with this aren't you?"
"I'm just... curious."
"I like it"
"I mean I know New York isn't the cheapest place but..."
"But ?"
"But come on. I cannot repeat this enough: your shower is next to your fridge. You wash your ass beside where you make food. You have a window in your bedroom. That's not wallpaper that's just concrete"
"I like it"
"Really? Because I'm pretty sure you can afford better"
"Are you now?"
"We're co-companions I know how much you earn. Unless you're getting a bonus because of your additional appendage"
"Appendage?" He asked looking confused
"Your penis"
"Oh. No y/n, price money does not differ between appendages"
"Every other job I've ever worked does"
"The chess federation doesn't give a damn about appendages y/n"
"Still..."
"I like this place"
"...that brings up a good point actually... I'm not seeing a washing machine. Anywhere?"
"No,"
"Is there... a secret Washing machine?"
"No"
"Okay, do you need to go to someplace in the building and do laundry?"
"You wanna do some laundry?"
"Yes please"
"Alright, get your stuff," he says getting up and heading into his room, I gathered my laundry unsure what to do with it all and he returned with a large drawstring bag "Throw your stuff in here," he says dropping it on the floor with a thud
"In there?"
"Yeah"
I pulled the bag a little to peek inside "Ahhh I'm not putting my laundry in with yours!"
"Why not?"
"Because that's gross!"
"But we're taking it to clean? So what does it matter?"
"It just does Benny!"
"You can put it in the bag or you can carry all your laundry by hand, up to you"
I sighed and out of my clothes, getting my bag and my shoes as he got his shoes and his jacket grabbing the bag and putting it over his shoulder
"Come on then," he says heading out so I followed him he locked the door behind us and we headed up to the dirty New York streets I followed him down the pavement past cars and trash bags for a good while, it felt like we'd been walking forever at least ten blocks by now until finally we arrived at a little hole in the wall laundromat between a record store and a pizza place we headed inside and it was much as you'd expect a little place with a line of washers on one side and dryers on the other a few tables and chairs in the middle and the back wall has a few vending machines on it and a change machine in the centre.
"This is where you do laundry?"
"Well yeah?" He shrugs slipping his jacket off throwing it over a chair and bumping the bag In Front of a machine heading to the back getting change from the machine "You can pop the first load on" he says throwing me a coin from the machine
"I am not touching your underwear"
"I didn't ask you to,"
I sighed and put the first of what I'm sure will be many loads in "washing powder?" I asked
"Uhhh cherry blossom, clean linin, or tropical?"
"Whatever cheapest"
"They all the same"
"Cherry"
"Alright, here," he says getting it from the machine and throwing it over so I put the laundry on and sit at the table
"So we're just gonna sit here all day?"
"Yep"
"Why not go back to the basement?'
"Because by the time you walk back to the apartment, it'll be time to turn around and walk back and the machine will just have finished" he explained sitting down too "It's up to you"
"Fine" I sighed "Why do you come here though? It's dead and it's so far from your apartment? You're not telling me this is the only laundromat in New York?"
"I like this place, it's quiet. Everything is machined so I don't have to deal with people, it's cheap, and the place next door does great pizza"
"The more I get to know you the weirder I think you are Benny" I sighed
"Thanks?"
'It wasn't a compliment"
"I'm taking it as one" he shrugs getting a deck box from his jacket pocket opening it up pulling out a very nice deck of cards which he shuffled in his hand "You can pick"
"Poker"
"AHH nothing to bet with I don't play poker unless I'm better try again'
"fine rummy then" I answered so he shuffled and dealt the cards letting us play for a while "Why do you use this place? really?" I asked as he put the next load on
"You really wanna know?" He sighed
"Yeah,"
"Fine" He sighed sitting back in his seat, "The Guy who owns this place, and the two places next door"
"The pizza and the record store?"
"Yeah, he's also my landlord"
"Okay..."
"So long as I pay my rent I get free pizza and free records, he even takes money off my rent when I do my laundry here"
"Hu... What a nice man"
"Yeah he's great, and I like helping him out. he's doing his best to make it on his own and get out of the family business"
I was confused a moment before it clicked "Holy god- If your landlord is a maf-"
"Yes. His dad runs the New York Mafia. He wants to go straight so I'm more than happy to help"
"Your life is insane"
"At least it's not boring."
"I'd argue this is incredibly boring"
"I don't know, I like the quiet routine of it all"
"Had it ever occurred to you Benny that you're boring?"
"I think I'm pretty damn excited"
"Do you? Really? Like honestly Benny?"
"My life is very exciting."
"Sitting in a laundromat for six hours? Watching your underwear go round and round?"
"I don't know," he says "I've heard many lovely ladies complimenting the excitement of washing machines"
"What are you talking about?"
"I'm sure many ladies find washing machines exciting." He says
"Do they?"
"I have read."
"Read?
"I have read. Such."
"Ohh in your pervy penthouse magazines?"
"I'm simply saying most girls would like being able to sit on a washing machine for a few hours"
"I doubt that"
"I don't know, I'm sure this would be more exciting if you sat yourself on the washing machine" he smirked
"That's not a real thing Benny"
"I'm sure it does" "Its not"
"You willing to prove that?"
"I'm not sitting on a washing machine to amuse you"
"It's not going to amuse me it's to prove if it's true or not"
"You're disgusting" I sighed getting up and grabbing my bag "I'm going next door for pizza,"

31/03/2024 Sunday Afternoon
I haven't posted in awhile but I do have some general updates. No real news on the disability front. They did send me a letter that I got over the weekend asking me to confirm my details, but I have to call them on Monday since they got my phone number wrong. Other than that, there really hasn't been any movement. My family is returning home from their vacation without me. I don't mind not going because it means I will get to see my brother. On the other hand, it would have been nice to be able to go somewhere else. I really hate where I live. Speaking of visiting my brother- I almost lost the ability to go. They changed my airline tickets without informing me (good thing I checked!) and I would have missed my connecting flight and been stranded in Amsterdam. To be fair, this would have been on the return flight and not the flight to visit, but if I don't have a return flight set up, I wouldn't be able to go anyway. It took 5 hours on customer support to fix it, because they were trying to tell me my only options were to cancel, to pay $800 to change airports, or to wait and take a new flight 4 days later (I wouldn't have a place to stay in that time). None of which worked for me, but since they were the ones who changed the flight I knew they had to find a fix that actually worked. However, after about 4 hours of back and forth I was ready to give up and take the cancellation- even though that meant I probably wouldn't be able to visit my brother, and it's entirely possible I wouldn't get a second chance. Fortunately the last person I talked to come through for me, and got me a new flight that worked. So I am still able to go, but I have to set up seating yet. I also have to buy a suitcase and new headphones, so that will probably be the main mission for the week. I'm pretty close to finishing Sistersong- I'll post an update on that later. But I haven't really gotten anywhere in Red, White, and Royal Blue since my last update. I ended up reading the first volume of Yuri Espoir (recommended by Ena) instead. While I probably won't finish Sistersong today, I should be through it relatively soon. Originally I was going to pick back up in orv, but I promised my brother I'd be reading Eye of the World on the trip over so I might do that next instead. I haven't quite decided. My aunt will be starting her business up in May so I will likely be helping her out with it again this summer. This mostly just gives me something to do, as I am free labour for her and she doesn't have to pay for a laundromat. But it's not difficult to wash and fold laundry. I haven't been able to finish catching up in my games, but I feel like today has been a little more productive than usual on that front, so I do think I'm getting somewhere. I know the Zenless Zone Zero sign ups have started but honestly I'm not sure if I will play it or not. I have a friend who plays nearly every gacha in existence and whales on them too. They started playing Love and Deep Space recently which seemed neat but upon looking into it really isn't free to play friendly and I can't drop money on gacha like they can. Talking about friends- I have a friend who has feelings for me. I honestly am not mad about it or anything, and I'm not seeing anyone, but I really just think they don't understand me very well. Also like, my feelings around romance and love and sex and everything related are not very clear. I tried to explain this to them, but I think they didn't take it very well, either. I think honestly my feelings on these things could be their own post so I won't go into detail, but it's something that could be an issue in dating someone, so I think it's best to be upfront about that. Also more than just that I'm not sure they understand me as a person very well, I think they rely on what they think about me more than what I actually say, and when I say something that contradicts their thoughts, they just ignore it. Maybe I'll make another post talking about this, or about my feelings about romance.

STMPD Recommends Bubblegum Crisis Fanfiction: The Works of Jeanne Hedge
Ho ho ho ho ho, it's time to bring out an easy recommendation, or rather a series of recommendations, one I'm honestly surprised I haven't done before.
I mean, come on. It's Jeanne Hedge, baby. She didn't write much longer stuff compared to Innpchan or Ben Hutchins, but she wrote really good, really focused stuff. Moreover, the record of the sheer number of 90's-era fic writers who reference her suggest that she was the Carrie Fisher of alt.fan.bgcrisis, a real script doctor for everyone. Whatta character. Pity she died from pneumonia in 2020 - I would have loved to invite her to the more modern corners of BGC fandom, like the subreddit and the discord. Learn from the old masters, yeah? Yeah.
Here's Hedge's old website. For the more convenience-minded among us, here's her FF.net page.
So: Hedge. Sysop of a CompuServe anime and manga forum from 1985 to 2005. Mod for the old Fanfiction Mailing List. Moderator for the fanfiction panel at Anime Central (ACEN) from 2001-2006. In other words, a superfan from a time when Crunchyroll was a ripping site, Funimation wasn't Sony's pawn, when anime was an eccentricity among eccentricities on the old 'World Wide Web'. Incredible, no?
Oh, yeah, and she was a pretty good writer, too! Her writing style isn't particularly fancy, and her topics are usually more light-hearted explorations of the series save for two instances. We'll go through the short stuff first, then the two biggies.
Dear Mom: Not even two thousand words, a gag where some gaijin girl is living in an office building across the way from the LADYS633 and is navigating dealing with the locals while hunting for an apartment. The punchline is that it takes place between OVA 8 and Crash, so of course she sees the Knight Wing launch from the building, and when she brings it up at the LADYS big reopening party, Sylia is all 'whatever are you talking about' and promptly makes sure this woman gets an apartment across the city. "You'd almost think they couldn't wait to get me away from here!" is what's said in the last bit, which is funny as hell. Written, apparently, on a dare.
We Just Want To Help You: Jeanne is transported to what appears to be the BGC Universe, but is, in fact, not. Her attempts to convince Sylia otherwise don't go well. Another one-note gag, but in my mind not as funny as the other one.
Spin Cycle: Linna's power goes out, she needs to do some laundry, goes to a laundromat with a laundry-dispensary Boomer, said Boomer goes rampant and starts terrorizing people, Linna must evade the Boomer and help other customers. Short, silly, charming, and does a nice job of outlining the wider world of Megatokyo, the normalcy of life in the world's mightiest megacity, where clothes still need to be cleaned.
10 Questions: This is a weird one, since it's one of Priss's great-grandchildren asking her about an interview with her she found in the attic. Ten easy questions about what happened to Priss in her public life - the Reps broke up, she started a new band, she started a record company that eventually got to sign Vision, she lost both her legs during the last great Boomer Rampage - hold on, wait, what the fuck?
Yeah, despite Hedge saying in an afterword that she wanted this to be the fic where Priss got to have nice things, she still loses her legs, Linna, and Sylia. The last quarter of the fic, in fact, is her just musing about all the different choices she could have made when Sylia pulled her over back during the fateful night played out in Asu E Touchdown... and I think it's implied Sylia, in the end, walked into GENOM Tower with a suitcase nuke. So... happiness? Even then, it's an elusive thing...
Okay, that's the small stuff. The warmup. Now for the big 'uns.
Into The Shadows: Probably Hedge's most famous work, 19K words detailing, from multiple perspectives, the origins of the Knight Sabers, from Dr. Raven talking Sylia into recruiting other members, to those other members being recruited, and so on. It was cowritten with Andy Skuse of Raven's Garage, which... is kind of a detriment to its quality? I've been rereading Skuse's own multichapter epic, Bubblegum Cross, and it's Not Very Good. I'll probably review it soon.
Anyway, it's part mess of flashbacks, part training montage, part this, that, and the other. Each chapter is fairly short - shorter than I would have written, in all honesty - but there's a good bit where Nene is cool with her EW, where even Linna is scared for a short bit, where Priss is as violent and unhinged as you'd expect her to be. The characterization is really on point here, I think, at least for a certain rendering of the Sabers in their early days. I quite like this one.
True Love: Priss can't catch a break, can she? In canon or in fanon. I mean, holy shit, this fuckin' piece. It's good, but... damn.
It's mostly, Priss's story, a bridge between Crisis and Crash in the darkest sense. See, she's trying to finally get the Reps signed, right? Reasonable, even if the sleazy-producer cliche is coming into play even before Priss's stint at idoldom in Crash. It's not going well. She gets forced into a bad contract by 'Oomori-san' (geddit?) someone's stalking her - and then said stalker shoots her in the throat. Her voice is gone (explaining the change in voice to Ryoko Tachikawa in Crash), she's in protective custody, and... ugh. Look, I don't want to go any further, because probably the best way to describe this fic is a) disturbing (stalkers are creepy people!) and b) depressing (Everyone's mental state gets seriously altered by what's going on here). The other part of the bridge from Crash is that Nene kills said stalker, just picks him up in her Motoslave and drops him into the canyons, and that's kind of the lead-in to her being much more aggressive in Crash as well.
I don't want to spoil more, because this is a 'darkfic' in the best way, a deeply, perfectly uncomfortable way. It's the way that best shows what Hedge was capable of as a writer, and why her death was a tragedy in the truest sense. Read any or all of these, because they're all excellent.

* * #laundromat convo with @mayrarcjas
ike: -sidles closer to cass and penny -
Penny: -eyes isaac closely- Cass: -tugs Penny's arm and moves away, leaving Jake alone with him-
ike: dammit. they always have food on 'em. anybody else holding?
mayra: depends on what you want
ike: oh, you know me. i'm easy.
Cass: You can say that again
ike: -blows a kiss at her-
Cass: -dodges-
mayra: i thought that was my reputation? -snickers- i have a snack pack of peanuts
ike: gimme gimme. -cosies up next to mayra for peanuts like birds do-
mayra: -pulls out peanuts from bag- you don't need me to momma bird them to you do i? 'cause i know we're close but not that close
ike: not unless that's your thing, honeytail.
mayra: no, thanks. -hands bag over- okay, you gotta tell me. what's the honeytail nickname for?
Jake: Since I suddenly feel like I'm intruding, I'll leave you guys to your peanuts! -collects his clean laundry from the dryer and heads out-
ike: -greedily accepting the peanuts, shrugging- what's any nickname for? you seem like a honeytail. i … could elaborate on that but probably not here.
mayra: too pg-13 rated? -smirks-
ike: Heh. No, listen -- I thought it was a bird. Isn't it? There's gotta be some bird called honeytail. Since there's any number of tits.
Cass: I dunno, I'm with Jake. Why am I still watching this? Wanna go, Penny? Penny: do you even have to ask? Cass: We out. -feigns a mic drop even though she hasn't said anything remotely cool-
mayra: do i look like i spend my days watching and learning about birds?
ike: maybe. you're into all that meditation and mindfulness.
mayra: which has to do with an individuals self, not birds. only birds i deal with are the ones Salem brings to me as a gift.
ike: yikes. that cat of yours is a menace. plus she doesn't like me for some reason. but i'll win her over, just you wait and see.
mayra: you can start by getting it's gender right. salem is a he. and he probably isn't a fan of how massive you are. my other kitty is a fan. and that's the one that matters.
ike: -snickers, bumping against her with his hip- that IS the one that matters. anyhow all cats are girls. didn't you believe that as a kid? all cats are girls, and all dogs are boys. maybe i'm just stunted and never got past that.
mayra: my parents were too busy trying to make me the next einstein than teaching me silly things like that. plus, that might be your age showing.
ike: maybe. -shakes the packet of peanuts at her to offer her some- your parents had the wrong idea. you're brilliant in a whole different direction than einstein.
mayra: -holds out hand- well, thank you. i guess i can finally have the recognition i deserve from a different type of daddy.
ike: -groans softly- come on, i didn't deserve that.
mayra: oh? so should i not call you daddy during anymore? -smirks-
ike: you can if you want. but you know that wasn't what i was talking about.
mayra: and you should know, i wasn't talking about that either. -puts hand on his arm- how is it having ember here?
ike: weird. -leans a bit into her touch- i'm not qualified to be anybody's father. if i was, i woulda stuck around when she was little. but it's not like i can … un-be her dad.
mayra: sure you can. -shrugs- blood doesn't exactly make you family. at least, that's what i've learned. but this new world is all about starting over, right? no better time than the present.
ike: yeaaaaaaaah. -slings an arm around her to give her a squeeze and then gives her the rest of the peanuts- i'll figure it out. i just hope i don't fuck her up more in the process. were you close with your folks, when they weren't shoveling you into big brain classes?
mayra: are you truly a parent if you don't fuck up your kid? -leans into him and takes the peanuts, popping a few in her mouth- i wouldn't say close, persay. are we really going to talk about parents?
ike: i wanna know. i mean, if you wanna tell me. the whole, uh… -twirls his fingers- 'einstein' thing sounded like it was pretty rough.
mayra: -she sighs- my dad was the pediatric neurosurgeon at the children's hospital of philadelphia and my mom owned the biggest marketing company of the northeast region, meaning their child had to be something. i was playing piano without sheet music by the time i was four.
ike: -stops chewing, then swallows hard and leans back to look down at her with his eyebrows raised- sheeeeee-it. you weren't kidding about being expected to be a genius. so they wanted you to go into medicine? business? tchaikovsky?
mayra: -chuckles- they wanted me to work for nasa but i chose a different route. call it the first time i rebelled. i went to MIT for environmental health engineering but ended up leaving …
ike: i didn't know i was in bed with a goddamn genius this whole time. nasa?? that's outta this world. -snorts at his own joke, but subsides at her trail-off sentence- that one didn't work out for you, huh. engineering at mit.
mayra: it's amazing what people can hide, huh? -shrugs & pulls out from under his arm- let's go. it's getting stuffy in here. plus i got a cat to attend to.
ike: ohhhh-kay. whatever you want, honeytail. -trots out with her, reeling her in gently with his arm around her shoulders as they go and completely forgetting his own laundry-

And then what happened?
So if you're following along with our story, here we are being jerked around by unscrupulous rental agents, and all I know is that we need to secure something for at least November 1 to save my own sanity. It would have been nice to stay in the city we're in, would have been nice to have something of similar quality to what we have now, but none of that mattered to be honest. What mattered now was stability, and who was going to be able to give it to me.
As I mentioned, while I was still sitting in the parking lot of the previous place I had seen (sitting in the visitor's parking, in case we want to laugh about that a little), I started calling around to a few places under a different management company, though the same kind of situation: one management company with multiple buildings across the lower mainland, and all of them of similar 'quality' and rent (meaning it's not exactly the Ritz, but it'll do).
I was scheduled in to see a place I thought was in Guildford but was disappointed to know they actually scheduled me to see something much further west, which is in one of those areas where you are not too far away (8 - 15 minutes) away from anything but are literally close to absolutely nothing. It was also close to the wrong bridge -- don't get me wrong, we can use this bridge, it just sucks.
Apparently the general manager of the building manages several buildings so when I called one number looking for 2-bedroom places, she just recommended a place she happened to have, and that was that. So unlike the last attempt at seeing a place, I do not blame the manager for this, she probably thought I knew, particularly as she gave me the address and I didn't really clue in until the next day, heh. That's a 'me' problem.
Went down to see it the following day. Similar to the place we had seen from the other place, it was "fine" -- old, but functional, and has the space we need. It's again not exactly the Ritz, but at least it had a dishwasher, allowed 2 pets, gave us 2 parking spaces (we have to pay for them but nothing exorbitant), and had a storage area in the unit as well as the 2-bedrooms we need. The downside of any of these places is the lack of laundry in the unit -- the laundry room is a hike to say the least, but it's through the building and not outside to a laundromat, so I'll take it. I've already ordered an extra rolling laundry cart. The upside is that the machines are card-op not coin-op, which is good because I was not interested in going to the bank every couple of weeks for quarters (what is this, the 90s? but that's what many places have still).
I wasn't going to lose out on this place in this market, so I immediately said we'd take it, but of course we have to fill out an application and have their head-office 'approve' it. I jumped through a billion hoops to get the wheels moving that day, and hoped for a positive answer the next.
All the while my spouse has not even seen the place in person, the poor guy. But that's very common when we move. I'm much more flexible in my work schedule, and I end up picking the place. The only thing I worry about is that we've become quite accustomed to the standard of quality we live in now (a condo in a decent building not so old really), and moving back into the types of places we used to live in 3 to 5 years ago could be a shock; but, we've always managed to make each place our own.
It was really nerve-wracking waiting for the approval. I spent the next 24 hours biting my nails, eating my heart, and fearing I'd get a call or an email simply that someone else rented it. I don't know how that would happen at this point, but everything I'd been through already told me nothing was impossible in this nonsense market. I ended up emailing several times throughout the day and I'm pleased with the kindness showed to us by the building manager for keeping us up-to-date and not ever becoming annoyed with my inquiries if she had heard anything. I think she understood. That was more than the last place.
It was already 4:30pm and we hadn't gotten the approval, and she didn't have it either, we were all waiting on head office. She said we'd probably at this point have to wait until tomorrow. I wanted to cry.
Finally in my time of need, I decided to turn to divination. The cards are always accurate for me right? That's what I've always been saying. So I did a thorough shuffle and drew a card, for the question of our approval, and... the cards didn't make sense. So much so that I drew a second card for clarity, and it also made zero sense, so in an absolutely exceptional situation where I could not make sense of either card, I drew yet another card totaling 3 now, and that card didn't make any sense either!
It's hard to describe what I mean by 'made no sense' but I hope people familiar with divination may understand that not every result is a usable answer to the question being asked -- sometimes, the cars are trying to say something else. That's when I realized the cards were trying to tell me this was not their question to answer.
Fair.
So I decided to throw Fedw instead, something Wepwawet proceeded to laugh at. He hates when I throw Fedw for myself, as He always says to just listen to Him closely and I won't need any of the 'extra nonsense', something I've spoken about this before; however, still, from time to time, my anxiety gets the better of me, my mind is clouded, my path is unclear. "Throw the sticks," He says, exasperated with me. And I do. He basically screams at me "YOU'RE FINE, KID" and that was that. The result was that the approval is go.
I received the approval about an hour later.
So now here we are, packing up our lives, budgeting our limited resources, to make a move we don't really want to make but such is life. I think it will be a little better than I'm thinking it will be, but in the absolute worst-case scenario, the lease is only 6 months long (and then month to month) so if we wanted to leave, we'd be able to do so much sooner than in many other rentals which normally require 1 year. Admittedly I do worry about that 6-month requirement being half of usual, as though they expect us to leave after only that time, but... that is hopefully my mental illness speaking and not the voice of reason.
Hopefully.
Tumblr media
So again this weekend I pulled another card for the week ahead, and the card was... Bat.
Joy and Manifestation! Yes... please. I need joy and manifestation a thousand times over. A thousand of bread, a thousand of beer, a thousand of fowl and cattle, a thousand of cool water... let's do this.
I have moved many times over the years. I tend to orchestrate the majority of the move myself (packing, cleaning, etc.) with my spouse doing the heavy lifting. I prefer it like this because the act of "doing" helps to center and align my mind away from the anxiety of the task ahead (the actual process of moving).
The decluttering began on the weekend following our landlord's wishy-washyness so I had already made a great start to do so. Now I just need to keep the momentum. It took me two whole days to carefully pack up the Star Trek collection and the Jackal Packal (my shrines, heh), but those are entirely done, so I can move on.
The move happens on Oct 13. Why Oct 13? I'm not sure. It's the date I was called to, so I'll take it.
Cheers ~ Nesi

"Please be with me~~~ this Christ-mas."
"1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and...  oh, 다연아 잘하네!" Choreographer hyung says. He was right. Although Dayeon wasn't the main dancer, she still danced like a queen. (A/N Periodt😂) Her body moved gracefully and her vibe matched perfectly with the dance moves with a sexy and cute vibe.
"감사함니다 선배님." She says as she continues to move with grace. She was always so clumsy and innocent in real life but the stage really brought her into a different life. She didn't even realize that everyone stopped to watch her until she finished and everyone clapped for her.
"How come nobody claps like that for me when I dance?" Yoona asks.
"It's because she's actually good! She can sing, she can dance, what can she not do?" Kai said. He obviously still likes Dayeon but I feel kind of bad for Yoona since everyone can tell she likes Kai. She always wants his attention but he ignores her and has both eyes on Dayeon.
"I can't rap..." Dayeon says out of breath.
"Come on 다연아, we all know you can. I mean when Sunny was sick in that performance and you had to do her rap, everyone, including 리수만 선생님, said you were amazing." Suah says.
"맞아... you could be the main rapper if you really put your mind to it." Sunny says.
"See? What can she not do?" Kai says still clapping for her. I felt kind of mad when he clapped for her and she blushed. Does Dayeon like Kai? 아니야... 설마... no it's fine if she likes him... but it's not. I think I might like Dayeon. I mentally slap myself. 정신차려! We are in a fake 'marriage' thing with a contract, you got this far, you can't make it awkward now. Just push it down. Even if I wanted to date her, she wouldn't possibly like me back. Her perfection is better for someone perfect or someone who actually needs the love.
"현아? What are you thinking about?" I get waken up by Dayeon's nickname for me.
"Huh? What?" I say.
"What were you thinking so deeply about? We're about to practice one more time." I get up and get in my position. The dance was made so that we dance in our 'couples' but also in our own groups. Kai, Sehun, and Yoona did well. After practicing for a while, I want to go home but I can't take off my pants so just lay on the floor in the way of everyone. Dayeon joins me. "I'm tireddd..." she groans.
"나도!" I say loudly.
"What were you thinking about so deeply before?" She says.
"Huh? Oh... um." I can't tell her. It would be awkward, she won't even reciprocate the feelings. So I made something up.
"Umm... new... laundry detergent! (A/N I'm watching True Beauty and so if you know the reference, yay! If not, go watch it, it's good.)"
"Huh? Why do you need to think so deeply about laundry detergent?" She says slightly tilting her head. She does that when she's confused and it's genuinely the cutest thing ever.
"Uhh well... my nose is sensitive so I was wondering which scent I should get."
"Just choose your favorite one. Why is it so hard? Wait, but our dorm doesn't even have a washing machine." Oops. I forgot. The managers forgot to get a dorm with washing machines so we dry clean everything or go to a laundromat.
"Oh, did I say laundry detergent? I meant cologne." I scratch the back of my head and laugh nervously.
"Oh, makes sense." She says and doesn't pay attention to me anymore. "CAN WE GO HOME PLEASSSEEEE." She yells loudly still on the floor.
"YESSSSS.... PLLLLEEEAAASSSEEEEEEEE." The members pay no attention to our pleas and continue to practice.
"You know, people are not always as perfect as you. We actually need to practice." Suah says.
"We do too but isn't this a bit much? I mean it's already 12! Let's go home and sleeeeppppp..." She says and rolls ariund in exasperation. Because the others wouldn't listen to us, I decided, they can do what the want but I'm sleeping.
"다연아, 나랑 집에 같이 갈래?" I turn to Dayeon and ask.
"Yes please. Everyone, 우리는 먼저 갈게." Dayeon stands up and announces.
"You two in the dorm by yourselves? Just because we aren't there doesn't mean you could do whatever you want, keep it PG please, I do NOT want to walk into something gross." Sehun says.
"야! Worry about yourself! Bye!" We leave and jam out to music in the car on our way to the dorm. We get home and I immediately shower. Dayeon started making dinner and because she was like the only one who cooks, she knew where everything was and that kitchen was like a kitchen in her own house. I come out of the shower and Dayeon was still cooking. "Shouldn't you shower?"
"Oh yeah, Hyun-ah, can you take over?" She hands me the apron she was wearing and a spatula. She was frying kimchi and tofu. "I'm gonna shower so just make sure it doesn't burn."
"Okay, I got it, go shower."
"Thanks." She goes inside and I hear the water running. I started thinking about the nickname Dayeon gave me... Hyun-ah. It sounds like a girl's name but I don't care... it's a special name that no one else has- *beep beep* *beep beep* is that the fire alarm? "Hyun-ah... is that the fire alarm?" I hear Dayeon shout from the shower. I had one job... and I failed. ONE JOB! I frantically open the windows and turn off the heat. Dayeon rushes out the room with her clothes inside out and backwards and her hair dripping wet. "Ahh, you burned it. Didn't I tell you not to do that? Are you still thinking about your cologne? If it's that hard, let's just get one now." She throws away the tofu from the pan, washes it quickly and grabs her keys to go to the mall.
"Wait, isn't it closed? And maybe change and dry your hair at least?"
"Oh... yeah, online shopping it is." She grabs her laptop and gives it to me. "Choose something, look for something you like. I'm gonna REmake the food you burned."
"Sorry... I got distracted."
"With what?!" Umm... I can't say her nickname for me... what do I say?
"Uhhh, my cologne scent?" She shakes her head and chuckles.
"You are so weird." She puts on her apron and starts frying again. She finishes and leaves the food on the table to join me. "Did you find one yet? What? Why are you still on the Google page? Were you not looking at them?"
"It's uhh... it's too hard to choose scents from a screen."
"At least look!" She leans over me to look for a website. She just searched in "cologne scents that men like". I laugh. She looked at articles and asked me about each scent on the list.
"Okay, I'll buy it myself, you don't need to choose one for me!" She turns to me. Her face was really close to me face.
"I said PG!" Sehun says. She turns around.
"PG? Why is this not PG? I was helping him choose a cologne scent."
"Were you guys not like, making out?"
"No, what makes you think that?"
"I don't know, it just looked like it."
"Okay? I make fried kimchi and tofu. It's on the dining room table so if you're hungry, you can eat it."
"Oh, yay, thanks 언니!" Suah runs over to the table. Dayeon turns to me.
"If you don't want my help, sure, do it yourself but later." She walks away to the table to join the others. What just happened?! I join them too. I sit next to Chanyeol.
"Are you sure you guys aren't a thing or something?" He whispers to me.
"No! We're just close."
"This fast? You have known each other for like 2 weeks and you're already this close?"
"Isn't it the same with you and Sunny?"
"Yeah but we're not THAT close."
"What do you mean?"
"You guys watched a movie on your own, you go home together by yourselves, you have matching clothes and you hug each other in your sleep." Chanyeol lists off.
"Well that's because I didn't want to watch horror and we were tired so we went home. Our matching clothes is because it's cute or by accident and you already know that I hug my pillow in my sleep, it's just convenient that she's there in the pillow's place." I said almost screaming. I realized that I was screaming and everyone was staring at me. Chanyeol laughs at me.
"What are you talking about?" Suho asks.
"Uhhh... nothin-" I start.
"Why he's so close to Dayeon." Chanyeol says trying not to laugh. I give him a death glare.
"Wait I'm confused, how close are we?" Dayeon asks.
"Too close to be just friends." Chanyeol says.
"Why are we too close to be friends?"
"Well, you watched your own movie instead of watching with us." Sehun chimes in.
"You went home by yourselves together." Chen says.
"We were tired okay?!" Baekhyun says.
"You hug each other in your sleep!" Sehun says. Dayeon puts her fingers to her lips and mouths 'that was a secret'.
"You do?!" Xiumin asks.
"Maybe..." Dayeon says sheepishly.
"What is happening? Do we have another couple?" Suho asks.
"No! It's just because we're close. Is that not allowed?" Dayeon asks.
"Well no, it's not NOT allowed but you know, you guys are a little too close to the point where people would assume those actions as things couples would do." Suah says.

Suckerpunch
Pairings: Steve Rogers x Reader
Warnings: language.
Summary: Reader becomes Steve Rogers mentee.
Foreword: The setting would be pre-CW and I think it fits the scene because this is the time Tony Stark and Peter would meet. Basically, I want to create a Steve Rogers who also have a mentee of sort.
P.S Let me know if you guys like this.

Third person point of view
The day Y/N found out that she does not want to live a life like everyone else is the day she punched a guy in the cafeteria. The guy looks pretty pissed while laying on the floor. Who wouldn't right? He didn't thought that a girl, a lower year even, could send him to total humiliation. Kids of different years cheered on, hoisting emotions from the two hot heads. Y/N, was about to jump towards the guy and give him another strong punch but her jab was caught by the gym instructor.
"Detention, Y/F/N!"
Every kids who encircled them cram and push one another back to their lunch table. A furious Y/N stood still infront of the instructor and the kid. Deep inside she was muttering things she could've done to the guy, who apparently thought making fun of her friend was nice, if only she was fast enough.
She explained everything to the principal and it made her feel hopeless. The guy would still be abstained, he looked like the lesser evil in this one. Y/N had been to detention more than the kid so she knows that it'll be listed on her record.
A guy brought in a tv and she was again infront of a talking Captain America. That moment, in a detention chair, a not-very-brilliant-self-reflection dawned to her. She did not wasted any moment and grabbed her backpack. She swore that she'll never go back again in the "stupid hell of a place".
Y/N is a person of misfortunes. Her dad died in a mission in Benghazi and her mom died from drug overdose at a young age, taken in by a problematic foster parents, and has identity vs. role confusion. But she was certain that she have a feeling inside her that she can't ignore.
The bus ride is short but enough to drown her with thoughts. Y/N plugged in her headphones and hugged herself.
At an old and rusty steel door, She stood. Her hoodie covering her and her backpack hang off over one shoulder. She knocked and waited for reply, when no one answered. She tried to slide the steel door. It didn't budged. So she tried another way, she went to the alley and search for an entrance. She stopped at her tracks when she found it. Apparently, behind a stink garbage can. "Blehk, eew." With one push she successfully pushed it.
A pick lock is all it takes.
"Now that's more like it."
-----
Steve knows that the owner would be there at the gym he would always go to, but he did not know that there would be someone else aside from him.
Grunts after grunts. Breathy exhales. Beat of trainers hitting the floor. The room felt almost motivational to start his usual workout. He must be careful tho, he do not want attention.
"You are here early? How did you get in?", a voice startled Steve. Steve spun and saw the gym owner.
"I just got here and I- I thought you opened this?"
"I did not." The owner replied. They both shared a look and found a girl in a corner lost in trance while lifting.
Steve approached the girl in a manner that will not scare her. He was gentle even, slowly squeezing information out of the girl. However Y/N can really act well. She said that "I thought it's open, I mean, the lights are on and the door is open so." Steve bought that and talked again to the owner that if anything is missing it might be a break in, if it's not then he must not worry much. The owner trust Steve so he let it be.
A sly smile formed in Y/N lips.
Steve went on his usual routine and let the spirit and sweat fuel him. Like any other fitness junkie, once you start feeling your body fire up it's addicting. He did not realized that per punch he release to the bag, it gets harder. The bag broke from it's chain and it made a loud "thump" as it fell.
*clap clap*
"Captain America," Y/N said while stepping forward. "I thought I might see you here."
Is she a spy? She sound odd. Things came into Steve's head like a computer wiring data.
"You're like a kid on a math test when you think y'know."
"Well, who are you?"
"-I'm just a kid from Brooklyn," Y/N sticked her hand out for a handshake. Steve's eyes trailed the hand infront of him and she waited... She waited until Steve decided to shake her hand. "Steve."
That is when her life officially changed. Y/N and Steve would always meet in the gym and train. They both share this understanding, like telepathy, that shaping up does not just make you feel better but help your head think straight. Days after days of sharing details and small talks. Steve watched her in a distance. Steve learned that she had been struggling with parents, and she have a dream becoming a soldier, and she wants to push her limits.
Steve did not saw a girl trying to impress him. He saw fire in her eyes, powerful motivation, a desire to have a purpose. He saw himself in her. Suddenly, he was back again in 40's. Trying so hard, application after application. He remember... everything.
"Hey, kid. Place is about to close." Steve called, making her pause the treadmill. He gave her time to catch her breath before he dropped the question, "You don't mind chinese takeaways for dinner, don't you?".
Sharon Carter is an agent working for Nick Fury. Lately, she had been assigned to look over Steve Rogers. Steve know and met Sharon knowing she was a friendly neighbor.
Steve and Y/N passed by infront of Sharon's door just in time when she opened it from the inside. Steve acknowledged her with usual greeting. Y/N hung her head as low as possible. Sharon's gaze turned from Steve to Y/N.
Steve racked his brain for an excuse and the best lie he come up with was, "She's my dishwasher." Both Sharon and Y/N's expression is an evident i-knew-it face. They both know Steve is bad at lying. To keep Sharon's act viable, Sharon agreed and excused herself to do the laundry.
Sharon head to the stairs and the two head towards Steve's flat. "You are such a dick, Rogers." Sharon heard. "-language!" Steve warned.
Nick Fury was at his office that time when he received a call from agent Carter. "Agent Carter... What?... Did you manage to take a photo?... Okay I can work that out... Okay... She's a hostile, for now. I'll pay Steve a visit as soon as I can." Nick Fury ended the call with an odd feeling. He tried not to think much about it and truth to be told, he felt that Steve was just trying to catch up in times. After all chivalry is dead, Fury thought.
Nick did paid a visit to Steve's place. He made it really a not-so sneaky one. He was welcomed by a supersoldier pinning him up against the brick wall. "What are you doing here?" Steve whisper-yelled. Nick did not answered and directed his eyes towards the sleeping body in a matress.
Steve released him and said, "Let's not talk here."
"Really? Here?" Fury said in dismay. Steve shrugged. "I ran out of eggs." Fury stopped him by the arms and said, "I told you I'll keep an eye on you."
"-I noticed." Steve retorted and pulled his arm.
"For fuck's sake. If you want a dog, I'll get you one." Fury said and he's furrious. "Rogers. That's a fucking 16 year old, a girl even, and you think- You think you can have someone following you around and listening to your orders-"
"-You don't understand." Steve growled.
"Then make me. Explain it to me..."
"Okay fine. If she fail, she leave. If she pass, she'll stay."
Y/N woke up that day with the sound of clammoring plates amd smell of cooking. She felt a bit concious.
"You don't have to make me breakfast, old man." Steve chuckled at her remark. "Goodmorning, to you too." Both fell silent after that. Both are not used to sharing meals with a person in an intimate space. Y/N chuckled and ate her food in silence.
Steve then explained everything. About fury. About the test. Y/N was not shocked but Steve is. Y/N grabbed her backpack and pulled out her dad's dog tag. Apparently, the dog tag has a shield logo in it. It glistened as the sun light beemed on it.
"I've been low-key researching about S.H.I.E.L.D, I- kinda expected this to happen."
Time skip and a series of extreme running and combat training with Steve. Y/N is ready to face Nick Fury for a test. Although it did not started in a controlled environment, it happened in a laundromat.
Y/N and Sharon are both waiting for their laundry to finish. Y/N started small talks like how's life, what she do, where she came from. "So, you said you're a nurse?"
"Yes," Sharon replied with a smile. That day, Sharon is really in need of laundry service. She have to wash her uniform.
"Do you work during the days?" It's starting to bother Sharon. Personally, she likes her job but when interrogations happen it annoys her.
"Mostly. Life as a nurse is unpredictable, it can change any moment.", Y/N seemed pleased with her response.
Y/N laundry stopped and she started fixing it like any people would. She tried to supress the adrenaline. She breathed in and out in a disciplined manner. She knows that S.H.I.E.L.D trained its agents well that even breathing pattern could be a sign of distress.
She then headed for the door with her laundry, instead of stepping out. She flipped the 'open' sign and slowly locked the door.
"Y/N," Sharon called. "You dropped these." Sharon did not expected the attack. While she was distracted, Y/N grabbed the opportunity to lock Sharon between her arms. Sharon pushed their weights and Y/N hit her back on the laundry machine.
The two started making a mess machine after machine and no one is near from surrendering.
"Why. are you spying on. Steve." Y/N said between attacks. Sharon kept on dodging. She was told that Y/N is a hostile and no harm. Sharon was just dodging every attack Y/N did.
Sharon is lost in her own thoughts while dodging a furious Y/N. Sharon did not expected that Y/N could have much precision and powerful punches. Sharon did not fully understood Y/N mentioned something about Rogers and protection.
Steve and Sharon only shared glances and small talks in the duration of her mission. However, long before she met him she already heard stories from Peggy about a man he worked with. Needless to say, Sharon grew feelings for Steve. Something about Y/N overprotevtiveness aura made her snap. "It's my job, not yours." Sharon thought to her self repeatedly but she kept silent. She then became as assertive as Y/N.
The change of Sharon's body language made Y/N know it's beyond what she wanted to know. Her lunges and attacks felt personal.
"Finally," Y/N announced. They both stared at each others eyes before they started going for one another.
Y/N showed and applied what he learned from Steve, but Sharon showed that she is knowledgeable of MMA moves and aside from personal affairs it became a show-me-what-you-can-do.
Sharon is experienced in combats and her expertise in this really showed. Y/N's arm was about to be locked behind her arm but Y/N grew up catfighting in alleys and she is a nasty and outlaw contender.
Just in time before both girls kill each other, Nick Fury arrived.
-----
Steve and Y/N sat infront of each other silently. No one is trying to make a conversation. Both are tensed to what Fury will say.
From Y/N vision she could see a red haired woman walking towards them. Y/N's excitement tingled as she realized it's Natasha Romanoff. Media created an image that Natasha is a hot and skilled spy who once been in numerous deadly mission. She's Y/N idol. Now she sit there with a freshly bruised face with a stern don't-touch-me Steve Rogers.
Natasha introduced herself and she announced her presence was by Fury's order. Natasha casually joked about bruising Agent Carter's face for her.
Steve looked at Natasha and then at Y/N. He knew that moment that he made a right choice to take her in.
-----
Natasha stirred her coffee as Y/N teared her pack of coffee. "How'd you know that Agent Carter is spying on you?" Natasha asked.
"She keeps on glancing on Steve?" It sounded like a question.
"That's assumption."
"Actually, for a nurse, she looks pretty. I mean if she's being an undercover nurse she should-"
"Are you saying that nurses are ugly?" Natasha wheezed.
"No!" Y/N defended. "I mean, okay, whenever I saw her wearing scrubs I try to smell her. She doesn't smell like antiseptic or hospital scent that usually haunted me. I did not said it at first because you might think I'm a creep."
"Creep." Natasha joked.

My sister had this saying when speaking about our mom; “I love you, but, I love you from a distance”. My mom hasn‘t really been a good person, or a good mother to her kids; so I can’t really blame her for that type of attitude. I’m the youngest of the family, so I don’t really know the type of things my mother did to make my sister feel that way; I wasn‘t really aware of what was going on outside of playtime. Whatever my mom did, however she treated us, I think it rubbed off on most of us. My sisters and brother aren’t really well. They’re all kinda mean; you can just tell something ain’t right. I love them, but I don’t want anything to do with them. My sister, the younger of the two, she goes by the nickname Hennessy, or she use to; I don’t really love her like that, she broke my heart too. My mom has a drug problem; and she relapsed a couple times in our lives. It’s been really hard for all of us. The last time my mom relapsed I think I was going into the tenth grade. It was a couple days before my birthday, and she came in the house high. It really fucked me up. Seeing my mom like that haunts me; it hurt, it broke my heart. We all knew she had a problem but we never saw her like that. She was clean for years; it was the last thing we thought we had to worry about. But, when she did relapse, she made me go move in with my sister. My sister grew up quick because the same thing happened when she was a kid. She didn't take it too well either, that’s our mom, you know. I don’t know what was going on with her but she took it out on me. She quickly became mentally and verbally abusive; threatening. I was scared. I was just a kid. I tried to hide in the bathroom for hours, just to try and escape. I went to the park down the street and stayed there all day. She stopped letting me in the house. I cried and begged to be let in; but she wouldn’t let me in. She threatened me to stop; I had to sleep in the laundromat of the apartment building. I starved. whenever she did let me in there was nothing in the house to eat. I ate the taco shells. I had to steal food from the grocery stores and the liquor stores. I stayed at the basketball courts all day, even at night. When there was nobody at the park I was forced to go back to the apartments. Soon, she stopped letting me in at night, but I still tried. I found this old jeep 4x4 in the parking garage that was unlocked and sometimes slept in there, and it would leave me with flea bites all over me; sometimes I still slept in the laundry. I went days wearing the same clothes; I think my sister gave me money once and I used it to wash my clothes. I remember a lady in there almost yacking from the smell. I went all summer like this. I think somebody called child protective services or something because somehow I got in contact with a social worker that was going to help me move into a better place. They never mentioned the abuse that my sister put me through, they didn’t mention my mother either. I don’t think my sister went to jail. They put me in home that night and there was another foster kid and two boys who were the lady’s children. The rest of my family had no clue until the social worker contacted them. I went to court maybe a week later and my aunties were there. I‘m crying now but I don’t remember crying at the time. I was a kid. I think I just did my best to forget. My Auntie, who’s been my godmother all my life, took me in.
My sister fucked me up. I didn’t do anything to deserve that. I went to school that next year about a hundred pounds lighter and anti social. I haven’t seen my sister since. My mom tried to get me to speak to her and she put her on the phone once so she could say hi, this was when I was in college, I had nothing to say to her. I couldn’t say anything. I kinda scoffed-laughed when she was taken aback by it. I wish to never see her again. I don’t love her, and I don’t feel bad about it. I don’t want her in my life. It’s not fucked up to me; I have to care for myself.

I've read stories that were literally all transition scenes and no action. I just didn't care about the mundane actions of the characters because the author didn't give me a reason to care. Either I'm not the target audience and this is a more relaxed piece, or they are boring. How can I tell them this, without hurting their feelings. How to make the mundane more interesting ,or add faster pacing and tension.
Hmm - it sounds to me like you’re describing a vignette piece, OP.  It’s not a common writing style for published works, but it can happen, and it’s something you see a lot in fan works, etc. when an author just wants to do some fluff writing with their favorite character or characters.  Another possibility is that they’ve already written their main work, but this new one is just ‘slice if life’ stuff that they couldn’t put in their main story because it slowed down the pace too much.  Or maybe they’re building up to something more exciting later on?  I’ve actually got an Overwatch fanfic I’m working on right now that takes a similar route.  I have to build up the relationships between the characters before the excitement I have planned can actually happen.  Otherwise, how I want the characters to react to that won’t make sense.
So, I wouldn’t necessarily say that this person is boring, but more likely that they’re writing just isn’t your particular cup of tea.  ^_^  That being said, however, if you like their writing and/or like how they do their characters, and you think they’ve got untapped potential in the ‘action/angst’ department, then it can’t hurt to tell them that.
I would start things off with a compliment (or three.)  Tell them what you LIKE about their work, first.  You could say this is ‘buttering up,’ but when the compliments are honest ones, I don’t look at it that way.  It’s more a way to convince someone ahead of time that you don’t dislike everything about their writing when you start critiquing it, y’know?  We used to do the same thing during college art critiques - tell each person something you liked, and then tell them something you thought needed improvement.
Anyway, I digress.  Once you’ve told the person what you really enjoy about their writing, then you can move on into the rest.  I can’t say for certain that what you say won’t hurt their feelings.  Feelings are a fickle thing, after all.  But I do think there are ways to soften the blow.  You mention in your message the idea of making the mundane more interesting - be prepared to offer the person you’re critiquing ideas on how to do that.  When you’ve got suggestions on how to fix what you don’t like, it makes your words seem less like ‘This sucks!’ and more like ‘I know you can do this better.’
Plus, if this person really does prefer writing fluff, then that advice in particular could be incredibly useful to them.  After all, just because there’s nothing ‘going on’ in the scene, doesn’t mean it can’t have an underlying purpose.  It could be two people doing laundry at a laundromat, but maybe the goal of the scene is to have one of the characters learn something important about the other?  Or maybe it’s so you can see how both characters feel about a third character?  I try to make sure that every scene I’ve got has a purpose that will inform the overall story I’m trying to tell in some way - even if it’s subtle.  As an example, one of my scenes in the Overwatch fic is there simply to establish the idea of a routine between two characters (which is important later on) and give my readers an idea of how they interact with each other.
So, circling back around - without knowing the writing you’re talking about specifically, I can’t offer direct advice on how to talk to this person without unintentionally hurting them.  Mostly because, I don’t know what the writer is trying to accomplish with this piece of writing, and what they plan to do with it can definitely inform how you go about sharing how you feel.  Is the goal of the piece to be nothing more than a series of vignettes with no underlying plot?  Does it have a plot that the vignettes are trying to inform?  Should there be action or tension in a scene, but the writer is flubbing it?  These are all things that can alter how you talk to them about what you feel needs improvement.
I know I’m being a little vague, but it’s hard for me to speak with more specifics without having more information.  That said - I hope some of what I wrote here is info you can use.  Best of luck, OP!

Landrymat - The Reincarnation Series
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(After a long time out of commission I am back to writing! I thought I'd share the excerpt of the first chapter of my novel, inspired by the last two pictures I posted. Let me know your thoughts. <3

@luna-evans-writes )
I feel the night air push at my hair and flannel as both stir up at it's touch. The clock on my cellphone says it's only four-thirty but the sun is already on it's way down for the night, early as every winter. It's taken a while for me to actually feel the winter. Strangely enough it's actually just starting to get warm in Jacksonville again but at the same time all of the typical winter shit is just starting to happen. People ringing bells for charity and lighting up random palm trees in an attempt to be festive, and complaining about seeing people's breathe as though breathing doesn't really happen till it's cold out.
The bus thankfully drops me off only maybe a two or three minute walk from my destination so I don't have to deal with it that much. The being outside. I hate this neighborhood, sort of. It's not like it's particularly bad, and I know I grew up better than my mum did, but it is still pretty ghetto and run down. The laundromat is not so cleverly named 'Landrymat' but the word looks cooler to me on the marquee so I chuckle at it, glowing like an old school neon sign in some Tumblr kid's bedroom. I feel my face warm up as I go up to the door, pausing as anxiety creeps it's way up the back of my neck. I doubt anyone'll know what they are, or even care what I'm washing, but I still feel that despite the logical side of my brain arguing against it.
'CLEANERS AND DRY CLEAN
WASHING MACHINES ONLY 50 CENTS PER LOAD
COME IN AND ASK ABOUT OUR SPECIALS'
I question what kind of specials a laundromat could possibly have but I suppose they mean deals on multiple loads? I glance at my backpack's strap and realize I'm not sure if I need to wash anything separate. The idea of asking up at the desk makes my heart go number than all the years of abuse so I decide to just go in and figure it out myself. "I'm only carrying somewhere over a hundred dollars worth of material in my bag, what's ruining a couple of them," I mutter.
Walking into the laundromat the first thing I see are all the washers and dryers so it takes me a secound to find the desk.
I hold my tongue about how stupid I think it is that it's in the back of the room (which it is about the size of a large master bedroom) as I walk up to the counter, I'd never been to a laundromat before and my anxious ass wants to eliminate as much risk of my looking stupid as I possibly can. "Hey," I try and lower my voice, standing straighter than I usually do. It's an effort given I've spent years training my voice to be high when I wanted something from people since mine was too low to be as quickly helped as the prissy tea kettle sounding girls, of course the years of manipulation would bite me eventually. I always hated that voice. "I need to wash, um, two loads of laundry."
"Do you need a dry clean?" Asks the burly desk lady, her hair braided back in a frizzy mess that said she probably didn't care much about work appearances and her tone suggesting she didn't really care about work. I shake my head 'no'. "Then pick a machine and just let me know if you need change."
"Oh. Okay. Thanks." I walk over to the wall that obviously has machines with wet clothes and soap tumbling in them and want to scream at the lack of signs. I survey the room, finding that there aren't really many people in here, thankfully. One woman sits on her phone in a waiting chair, charging it in the wall and speaking about as loudly about her divorce as it takes to let the whole entire room know her life story. A man strikes out with a red head a couple machines down from me, and an Asian lady who might be the manager talks with one of the employees apparently about the detergents. I pick a machine near the end and set my backpack down on a miscellaneous chair at the last machine. All of my binders are bundled up and shoved unceremoniously in the bag. I grab my wallet out and go to figuring out starting up the machine before I take them out, zipping back the backpack.
Living in a house where either your grandma or your father do all of your laundry (mostly because they insist) is feeling much less convenient as the feeling of intimidation from trying to figure out a new basic skill sets in. I stare blankly at the space beside the laundry machine, feeling fog set in, when the beep of the woman on the phone's laundry being done sets me off I jump, my heart thudding erratically in my chest. I don't know why I feel this way, and I can't find a rational way to deal with it. I try to do the breathing and focus thing but with nothing to focus on I panic, I dig my nails into the skin just under my wrist, grabbing my hoodie to try and hide it underneath as I claw at myself. It helps me. I feel dizzy but after a moment I'm back on the ground, almost like getting off something unstable for the first time in a while. My mind felt like it was still thinly veiled but I find myself able to lean against the washers. Shaking my head, I nod at my reflection, fixing my t shirt and going to figuring out the laundry. When I get it together, tossing everything from my backpack and quickly shutting it seems more discreet and I contemplate only doing one load just for the convenience of it, but I decide against it thinking about my lack of a job and money to replace for that. The machine turns on with a loud sound and I shut my eyes against it. Feeling physically sick I hastily take out my headphones again from where I've shoved them into my backpack's pocket and begin playing a song from Quietdrive, thinking the guitar and easily placed sexual lyrics will help me take my mind off my mental breakdown. The seats in the 'Landrymat' are cheap but they aren't as uncomfortable as I thought. I sit with my legs up weirdly crooked in the seat, looking around to see if anybody will care about it. The red haired girl from earlier is looking my way but her expression doesn't look irritated so I ignore it. The air is clean smelling, and the chemicals burn my nose, but it's all something to focus on as I zone out, inconsequentially digging my nails into my skin again, my hoodie wrapped inconsequentially around my hands like I was trying to bide off the cold. I feel alittle less stranded with the music blasting. It drowns out the other sounds. It takes a little while for my darks to be done, and I find myself way too intrigued by the fact you could never tell what the mass of black fabric is. It looks so inconsequential when it feels like if anybody saw it, knowing what it was, it would ruin my life.
I remove the clothes and set them in the dryer, taking a secound to pick the right cycles and having to google it to be sure, then put my lighter binders in for the same cycle. Feeling eyes on me, I turn and glance around the laundromat. The manager is nowhere to be seen and the employee is sweeping, the woman on her phone is talking to the man from earlier, and the red headed girl is staring at me. I turn to glance at the counter, and turn back to find her still watching.
I check my chest, making sure my shirt is on right and you can't see my binder through it or peeking over the top. I haven't said much since I got here and since I know my voice is the least passing thing about me I find it difficult to pinpoint what could be wrong with me. Is she really clocking me? Or trying to figure it out maybe? The girl doesn't seem deterred by the fact I've noticed her staring at me and I can't tell if I find that more unsettling. I get a strange vibe off her, almost like I've met her before, maybe a few times. My head tilts to the side as I study her. She has tan skin, and I can tell she doesn't use as much lightener as most Asian girls. Her face and eyes remind me of a wolf (and I'm not sure if that's crazy to say but) despite her not coming off as intimidating at all to me. Something about her's intriguing, and I find myself wanting to talk to her. She's dressed in all guys clothing, stuff you could probably find after a few minutes of digging through the small grungy punk section of Walmart or the closet of you dad's old teenage bedroom, but she wears it like a model on one of the magazines on the table. Her makeup is carefully done and her eyes are piercing as the stare into mine. "D-Do you need something?" I question, being conscious about my voice as I hear it waiver with nerves. I figure either she'll let me know where I know her from or maybe my saying something first will keep her from outing me, even if there aren't that many people in here. I don't think my heart can currently take being called out as trans* or gay.
Her eyes cut from mine to something behind my head and I turn around with an eyebrow raised in question. In the top right corner to the room is a little TV monitor playing the news on mute. Headlines role over the screen as they talk about the state of the world. I knew things have been bad, but the newscast for the day just seems to be 'The world is fucked pretty well' and I'm shocked at how little I've heard people talk about change despite even the holiday season's passing by. I turn back to find the girl grimacing at the screen. She looks down at me then shakes her head, "No. Nothing at all."
I make a face, closing the washing machine I hit start. She doesn't stare directly but I still catch her looking. "The world's pretty shit for just past the holidays isn't it?" Mentally, I kick myself for talking. If she chose to leave alone why wouldn't I let her?
She looks at me and nods slowly. "Yeah," she says, "Yeah it is. I don't think anyone gives a fuck." Her worlds hold a specific malice and she grits her teeth, looking back at the screen like she's thinking of someone specific. "Did you really think they would? Are you really into rights or something?" I realize that's a stupid question. "I mean, um, like activist work? Specifically."
She shrugs. "Yeah, no, but I guess you could say I work closely with someone-" she stops herself, "who has a pretty good hand in this business."
"You work for weather station?" I ask.
She smiles, shakes her head. "No. Don't worry about it, I'm probably just over reacting as always. Thinking people have more power than they have. Nobody was gonna pay attention to this," she gestures to the screen and crosses her arms, "anyway."
"Well maybe it'll blow over with at least as little damage to people as it can manage."
"Yeah, I doubt it." She goes up to a machine and pulls out her dry clothes, beginning to fold them for a wicker basket.
I look down at my phone, my mum's texted me and I groan inwardly as I text to let her know I'm okay. "What about you?" I hear the girl ask.
My eyebrows furrow. "What about me?"
"What do you care about?" She asks.
It's a strange question. What do I care about? "I guess the environment."
"You guess?" she pauses.
"I mean, yeah."
"That's not a lot of caring." She continues to fold her things into her basket without looking at me, reminding me of an old movie scene. "There's no passion in you guessing."
"I guess-" I stop, then shrug. "I don't care much about a lot of things right now." I admit. Something about the girl's demeanor changes, and I try but I can't read her expression. She seems weirdly different then and I try and find a time when I may've seen her like this. "That's a sad way to live. But I guess I get it."
I shrug awkwardly, shifting my weight on one foot. "I just can't find that passion I suppose."
"You know supposing is just guessing with a different style?"
"I'm surprised someone else does."
"Well. My advice. Find something worth fighting for. Fast." The jokingness fades from her eyes and she suddenly looks very serious, her tone almost a warning.
"Okay." I say. "I'll work on it."
"Good." She smiles, grabbing her basket and heading for the door. "I suppose I'm just not gonna get a name after that." I turn back to my wash and see there's still five minutes to wait for the dryer.
"It's Rosé." I hear a girl say. Turning around, I see the red head walking away without getting an answer from me. "Scorpious," I doubt she heard me.
When I'm done with my laundry I'm happy to fold my binders back into my backpack without incident. The laundromat is only a short walk and an even shorter bus ride from my house, but considering the fact that the next bus is an hour away I take my phone out and do the next best thing.
"Hey, George. You wanna get pizza with me? I'll pay if you drive."
