Their story that nobody speaks of (9501 words) by Berry_and_Blue
Everyone knows of the history between Megatron and Optimus Prime, his team, his followers, the decepticons too. But what they forget is that before the war, it was three mechs, not two.
Aka the MegaRatch slowburn we deserve
Guys stone me to death if you will but this is the first project I actually have fun while doing so bear with me :D

Would anyone be interested in beta-reading a short (~2.8k words) ocean/environmental-themed horror story?
I'm looking for feedback on the story overall, and specifically pacing, clarity (I like having some ambiguity but not into the realm of being overly confusing) (on the flip side, I also want to know if I've over-explained anything), and grammar.
It's in second-person which I know is alienating to some people but I'm pretty set on it because I think it works for the story I want to tell.
Anyway, if you're interested, lmk and I'll get you a google doc link (I send send in a different way if you prefer).
I'm more than happy to beta something of comparable length in return- now or in the future!

BETA READER SEARCH — The Quiet Death of Wild Flowers
My first draft is complete, and (almost) revised, so I’m looking for beta readers to give me feedback and help me turn this story into the best version it can be! 🖤
The book is approximately 100k words long, and you’d have about two months to read it (though that’s not a hard deadline or anything). The book is divided in three parts, and you’d have to answer some feedback questions after reading each of them.
In this book, you’ll find…
- A fantasy world inspired by the aftermath of the French revolution (1800s) - Magic arts and older mythical forces - A sapphic ‘opposites attract’ romance  - The yearning for connection of two lonely, touch-starved characters - Memories of past lives resurfacing  - Ideological debates - A strange plague  - A found family of anarchist revolutionaries - A genderfluid protagonist - One very stupid bird
THE STORY:
Leto was born cursed; whatever she touches, dies. As a child, the Empress of Riparia tried to groom her into a perfect weapon, but Leto abhorred the crimes she was forced to commit. She ran, and has been hiding as a masked priestess of the Order of Death ever since. To keep her freedom, she must stay hidden, unnoticed, and never make any waves. Her world is turned upside down when she meets Seph, an anarchist revolutionary with fearless eyes, who touches her — and does not die. Instead, the two of them are struck with a strange vision, one that almost looks like a memory. Dazed and confused, Leto runs away, but in an uncharacteristic moment of impulsiveness, chooses to free Seph from the prison where she met her. The consequences of that action are quick to follow, with Imperial soldiers coming at Leto’s door, and the Empress’s new favourite underling uncovering her identity. Leto has nowhere to go but with Seph and the revolution. There, she must question the certitudes of her safely contained life, and ask herself whether there is any point in fighting for something more in a hopeless world. And as the attraction between the two deepens and becomes more complicated, Seph will have to reckon with emotions she thought she was no longer capable of feeling, and an unwanted yearning for the kind of life she renounced long ago.
Interested? The link for signing up is [HERE] ! 😊 And if you’re not or you simply don’t have the time, reblogging this post would be super helpful ❤️
Have a great day!

(BETA FOUND!) ISO language beta for a Deadloch fic!
EDIT: Dreams really do come true! An amazing beta has gone over the fic and it will be posted in about a week. Thanks to everyone who helped put us in touch -- go team! :-D
I'm looking for a speaker of Australian English to look over a long fic and point out where I've got the dialect wrong. I'd be happy to return the favor for you if you ever want that; I have excellent attention to detail and I speak a very standard/unmarked US English. If you have other feedback to share about my story I'd love that, but I won't expect it.
STORY NOTES:
Fandom: Deadloch
Pairings: Eddie/Dulcie are definitely the main one. Eddie/Cath are shown making out once. There is also one Dulcie/Eddie/Cath sex scene at the end but otherwise no Dulcie/Cath or Eddie/Cath is shown (though both are mentioned).
Length: long! ~83,000 words.
Rating: explicit. The first 1/3 of the story is UST and pining. The sex scenes all come after that, but there are a lot of them.
Canon-compliant. Set after the end of the series proper, starting right after Ray’s death. Includes the canon epilogue scene (in which Eddie and Dulcie visit Holly) and then continues after that.
I didn’t like Cath in canon but I think she could get her shit together and be a better person and a better partner, and I’ve leaned into that very hard, while doing my best to also keep her in character.
CONTENT WARNINGS:
Trigger warning for gender dysphoria. See spoiler warning if that’s you.
One quick memory of intimate partner violence (the time in canon when Ray tried to strangle Eddie).
All sex scenes are enthusiastically consensual but there's a power imbalance around couple privilege. It’s dealt with in-story.
Expanded trigger warning WITH SPOILER: a character experiences gender dysphoria with triggers around specific sex acts and one specific word. Reference to that character being triggered with past partners, including one brief but pretty painful memory of a sex act that the character wanted at the time but that feels different in hindsight. However, this is a story about trans joy as well; there is a payoff later, and eventually a happy ending for this character.
If you’re interested but on the fence about committing to this, PM me and we can talk about what’s making you hesitate. I will of course credit you when I post my story.

Like House MD, time travel, radical canon divergence, and author-self-insert isekai fanfics? Beta readers wanted!
Welp it seems the brainrot I contracted from @acrownforaking is compelling me to write my own House MD isekai fanfic featuring an author-self-insert who unexpectedly reality shifts / time travels from January 2024 in our universe to January 2004 in the Houseverse, then immediately decides to seize this opportunity to unfuck the shitshow that is Greg House's life while simultaneously rewriting 20 years of history with nothing but her shitty memory and her hubris to guide her.
Unfortunately, while I've spent the past 30+ years reading 100+ million words of fanfic in various fandoms, my only previous experience in writing fanfic has consisted of starting and then abandoning a few Dragon Age and Baldur's Gate 3 fics. I wrote thousands of words, but I wrote the scenes out of order as the ideas came to me. I never published even a single chapter of those fics on AO3 because my writing process failed to produce a coherent Chapter 1 before getting hopelessly bogged down in obsessively researching the lore of the games' settings.
I've learned from my mistakes and this time I'm going to force myself to write my story in chronological order so I can begin publishing chapters while it's still a WIP. I've heard that those sweet sweet dopamine hits from AO3's email notifications can be a great incentive to keep writing. Plus the Houseverse being nearly identical to our own universe means there's very little setting-specific lore for me to research.
I'm seeking beta readers both for the usual reasons (motivation, accountability, and general writing feedback) and to help me untangle the messes I'll be making every time my OC uses her foreknowledge to force a radical deviation from show canon and/or IRL recent history. So, if you're the sort of person who enjoys pointing out a plan's fatal flaws or rooting out logical inconsistencies, then oh boy would I love for you to rip my drafts apart. Make both my OC and me cry. Please.
Warning: This fic will be dark. The source material is already pretty fucking dark -- House MD canon includes all four of the major archive warnings -- and my story will likely include even more potential triggers than in canon because one of the major themes will be how quickly things can spiral horribly out of control when you think you can predict the future.
So, if you have any triggers that you avoid reading about for the sake of your mental health, you probably shouldn't volunteer to beta read my fic because I won't be working on the trigger warnings until the final polishing for publication. It would be safer to wait until I've posted on AO3 to read it because I plan to break the chapters up so that triggering content is quarantined in its own separate chapters that can be briefly summarized and skipped.
Please let me know if you're interested in beta reading chapters before they're published on AO3. Any level of involvement welcome -- I am fully aware that most people don't have the time or interest to volunteer as a copyeditor or developmental editor! Quick feedback like "he would not fucking say that" or "yo there's a giant plot hole over here" would be super helpful to me too. Thanks in advance!

Look, I finished revisions on a whole entire book last night. A book I've loved for years and sometimes despised because it's so hard to keep myself focused on a project this long. I've spent the last literal year of any free writing time on revising. I spent my vacation from work getting this done. And I don't know how to scream on the internet about this but I need! To tell! Everyone!
It's 100 collected 500-word flash fics about The Hopeful Wanderer, a character I created for my blog series four or five years ago and based off Ginko from Mushishi. It's far future science fantasy with sub tones of soft apocalypse and climate change. The stories are gentle and creepy and whimsical and kind and hopeful. And the last ten stories tell the tale of the Wanderer and what's happening to the world and the stars.
It just has to go to beta reading now, then the final copy edit. Somewhere in there, I'll hire a book cover designer or figure out how to make my own. So if you wanna beta read or you are or know a really cool book cover designer, let me know. I'll send the content warning list in dms if you beta read so you're not surprised.
Anyway, I'm both buzzed and relieved to have reached this point. This monster of a project is getting done. Holy schmoly, it's gonna happen.

*Edited*Do any writers in here need an Editor?!
If you can help a starting editor pay some of their bills before going red, I offer 3 types of editing services!
I offer Developmental editing when you've just finished a story and want someone to guide you to parts of your story that are inconsistent or off.
Then I offer Line editing when you're story is fine but you want someone to go through and check on the spelling and sentences.
And lastly, I can do beta readings. When you just want to know what readers will think of your story before you go public.
I have a good system to have all my thoughts written down about your writing or stories if you don't have specific things you want thoughts or advice on.
My ko-fi commission page is below. You would be doing me a real solid if you checked it out or reblogged to spread it.

Beta Readers Wanted
Tumblr media
Raised among thieves whose failed plan to overthrow their leader saw those Airi loved executed in front of them, and Airi captured. Forced to pay off their debt to Teranya they are counting the days until their Assignment ends, until they find out if they stand a chance of freedom, or if that was another of the Repository’s lies. They want nothing more than to escape the past which haunts them, and live without fear that someone will discover what they really are; but as war consumes Teranya their Sæer is tasked with a job which may condemn them both.
Path of the Dead is an 110,000 word adult high fantasy novel set in the queendom of Teranya, where the dead still wander the land. The Last of Us meets the ruins of a gilded age.
Content warnings for: body horror, house fires, burning, and death.
If you like fantasy with a tinge of horror, reluctant father figures, complicated families, protagonists who aren't interested in saving the world just themselves, flawed heroes and stories about love which isn't romantic then you might like Path of the Dead.
This is the second round of beta reading I've done for this, and while it's not a paid position I'm willing to swap manuscripts if you'd like.
You'd have until the start of November (2022) to read it, and I'm looking for some answers to some questions at the end of the manuscript and some thoughts while you read. I also have a glossary and a map available if you'd like them as well.
If you are interested in checking it out you can fill out the contact form on my portfolio website or send me a dm.
If you have any questions, let me know :D

Hey, I'm looking for proofreaders/beta readers for the next chapter of my fic! It's about 10k words, but it's a bigger one cut in half. It's shipfic, Octopath Traveler, Alfyn/Therion. Not explicit, but there are allusions to sex and fairly graphic depictions of violence. Even if you have no idea who any of these people are or have zero knowledge of Octopath, that's fine, most of my concerns lie outside of 'are they ooc/is this canon compliant' anyway. Dm me if you're interested, thanks!

Stage: first draft of book one is complete at 23077 words, second novella planned and started
Synopsis: Holly, Adrian, Jo, and Kelvin are the original Creatrackers; a self-proclaimed research team who try to find evidence of supernatural beings and any other creature they hear about. Watch these characters evolve as they become adults who start to unravel what truly is out there in the world. In the first book two new members join, including Willa. A seemingly normal 21 year old who has actually been travelling the earth for the past few hundred years, trying to keep her vampire identity a secret. She has no thirst for human blood, only human cultures and the way of life for other creatures like herself. She becomes interested in the group while living in a small English town, and soon joins them on a hunt. Then another, and another... What could possibly go wrong for a vampire who befriends a bunch of monster hunters?

Beta readers wanted for my historical mystery manuscript set in Regency London!
Tumblr media
Do you like both Jane Austen and Agatha Christie? Are you an avid historical mystery reader who loves crime-solving and witty banter? My manuscript - set in Mayfair, London, in the year 1811, shortly after the future George IV was named Prince Regent - might be for you!
My manuscript is 90k words and I'm looking for approximately 10 to 15 beta readers to provide their feedback over a 3-week period. The manuscript will be sent to betas in early May. This book might be for you if you enjoy:
Authors like Andrea Penrose or Deanna Raybourn
Regency-era settings with all the trimmings
Slow-burn romantic storylines
Twisty turny mystery plotlines
Please reach out to me with any further questions and complete this interest survey if you want to be involved.
Even if you can't be a beta reader, just a reblog to spread the word would mean a lot.
Thank you!
