i'm sorry but this shit annoys me to no end. like this is about heartstopper and you all need to stop acting like that show invented everything.
Tumblr media
fucking anyways
1. Koisenu Futari
Tumblr media
Show that’s specifically made to be about aromanticism and asexuality as well as how aroace people are perceived by society. They are main characters. That’s the main plot.
2. Heartbreak High
Tumblr media
Want a teen show with ace rep? No problem. One of the main characters is ace! Would you look at that! The representation already exists! It's got a ton of other rep too and it's on Netflix but somehow we never got that ace rep yet right? You don't even need subtitles for this one.
3. SkamFr (s12)
Tumblr media
Is it a bit too much at times? Ye sure but you know what it also is? Another teen show where the main character is asexual that deals with asexuality as the main theme. And no you don't need to watch all those seasons before to get it.
4. Bojack Horseman
Tumblr media
I didn't even watch this one but I'm aware.
5. Cherry Magic
Tumblr media
Oh would you look at that a show with main mlm couple where one of the side characters is aroace? I mean surely it hasn't been done before.
6. Run On
Tumblr media
You want some casual side character ace rep? Well here you go even kdramas have done it but I guess there just aren't any shows...
Honorary mention to Sex Ed for that one scene.

FR I’m rewatching Voltron cause why not and just the “Voltron” tag is completely full of Keith/Lance like can I just see some fanart of the characters and some gifs PLEASE
GOSH I HEAR YA. I feel your pain in my bones anon. I never finished Voltron for various reasons but maybe someday…I count myself lucky I was offline for the worst of the apparent drama. Easier to hold onto the fond memories of when it was starting out and such! But yea even then, ships were everywhere….and not the spaceships I wanted to see in my sci-fi haha 🥁🐍
ANYWAY scraping for platonic content or even just content on blorbo themself (Keith in my case here) has been an age old struggle for me, but the prevalence of kl**ce didn’t help :/ like I’m not gonna go after people enjoying what they love, good for them! They’re having fun! I’m just. Tired, yknow? I think a lot of people don’t know how to interact with media except through shipping characters together. And as someone who can’t really relate to it on a personal level (I don’t hate romance I even enjoy it in media sometimes) I just. Want some variety. Blease. I am so tired.
So yeah firm handshake there anon good luck hang in there 🤝

watching a video essay on the decline on queer media because of pandering to straight audiences and i am thinking about how i will most likely never see myself fully represented in mainsteam media because an aroace main chatacter fundamentally isnt marketable. so much of what media is and how people interact with it online is shiping. which is fine! but when you have a character that cannot be shipped in a traditional sense that means there’s less appeal and that sucks actually

Okay, so like lately, I've been seeing a lot of ace discourse in a fandom I'm in, so I would like to offer shows with little to no romance (or at least romance was a side plot) that are masterpieces in my opinion-
Kdramas (No English dubs, but I was able to complete in subs)-
Mother- Cinema, pure cinema. If you like smart dramas with found family and chilling undertone, go for this one.
365; Repeat the Year - Very intriguing to watch. I loved it, had lots of twists. Fair warning that it's dark, but again pretty intelligent.
Uncanny Counter- Little sprinkles of romance, but it's really removed from the plot. It's a fun watch.
Anime-
Kiki's Delivery Service- Literally one of the cutest things ever. It's an anime movie about growing up.

Pencil, the quality of your writing and content of your blog mean that I’ve come to trust your judgment, and my conundrum is this; I’m in want of a new show but I get intimidated picking one because they can be such investments, so if you had to sell me on amphibia and/or seven deadly sins, how would you do it?
adshsdghsdg I'm so honored, and I also feel the pressure, lol. Both shows are quite special to me, for different reasons, though I do know everyone's got different tastes, and that's completely fine. However, dear anon, I'm going to assume that we have a few points in common, if you like my writing, so perhaps I could whoo you with my shinies and explain my crow-brain to the best of my ability XD
These got a little long, so I'm sticking it under a cut, heheheh.
AMPHIBIA
I'll start with Amphibia, because to be honest, I would rank it higher in overall quality. Plus, Amphibia is complete, just having its Season 3/series finale (ending with a total of 58 episodes), so there's no pain in waiting for more content. Furthermore, Amphibia is an incredibly fulfilling show; I finished the finale feeling satisfied warm-fuzzies in my belly, absolutely pleased with the show as it gets slapped into my "would recommend to literally anyone" favorite show list.
Amphibia is, first and foremost, a found-family show. It actually explores both found-family and birth family, and largely, it has amazingly positive examples of both. For platonic relationships in general, it explores the good, the bad, and the things to be improved or lost, and it does such a great job at it. (And platonic relationships are absolutely the focus. Any romantic subplots are incredibly minor—though lovely and diverse—and they don't rub it in your face while also being clear that it very much exists.) The themes are on point, and Amphibia fulfills what it sets out to do.
More than that, Amphibia is just?? So good??? It's hilarious as well as being so well put together and balanced. I laughed. I cried. I stared into the void, speechless for hours. And the worldbuilding!! Is deceptively good!!! And things come full-circle!!! Anon, I love it when things come full-circle, and Amphibia delivers so well. That thing you thought was a plot device? That random throwaway line? Full circle. Yet, Amphibia doesn't pretend to be serious 100% of the time. It manages to be goofy and lighthearted yet it delivers its punches without hesitation and without holding back.
Essentially, it's about these three 13-year-old girls who get mysteriously transported to a world called Amphibia, a place full of, well, amphibian people. They are separated, and the main character, Anne, gets stranded in a town called Wartwood, stuck there until the way out of the canyon thaws in spring. She gets pretty much adopted by a grandpa frog and his two grandchildren, and she and Wartwood both have to learn to accept each other. The show starts off as a typical fish-out-of-water episodic show, but they begin hinting at bigger conflicts, reminding you every so often that the goal is still getting these girls home. They do not forget this goal, even as the plot develops and thickens. However, the magic that randomly transported them to Amphibia is not happenstance, and it was not random. The worldbuilding supports all of these things, and a mystery unravels slowly in the background before it comes to a brilliant, emotionally-scarring head. Amphibia pulls out stops you never expect, but things that add so incredibly to the story. Also it's pacing is??? Really good? They manage to goof off but also drive plot without it feeling terribly rushed. It's very impressive.
Also, the characters are so much fun! There is a decent sized cast of reoccurring characters, and they all got dynamic histories and personalities, even if you only see a fraction of it from the main povs. And the mains are stellar. They are all allowed to make mistakes and be badasses at the same time. There's a great range of personality types without anyone feeling too tropey. Kids and adults alike get to have character development. I love them all dearly.
Anyway, Amphibia is a wholesome, heartwarming action-comedy, with healthy splashes of suspense and drama, and I really would recommend it to nearly anyone, no questions asked.
SEVEN DEADLY SINS
Or NNT, as it is popularly shortened to from the japanese. I think that abbreviation is the most prevalent, so anyways.
It is a complete anime/manga, at a total of 93 episodes (5 seasons, kinda, but the seasons are a bit weird because of how Netflix did it) but it does have an immediate sequel titled Four Knights of the Apocalypse, that is currently about 50ish issues into the manga and just greenlit for an anime. So there's a good deal of content, and more to come.
NNT makes out to lie to you at the beginning. It bamboozles you into thinking it is a different story with a different genre, like it's about some typical teen princess gathering people to save her kingdom, and said people are drama-bringing problematic anime characters. It's not. This is a lie. The main character thinks this is happening, but the actual plot? So, soooo much better. I introduce this anime with a healthy pinch of technical spoilers, because if you're like me, the fake-outs (which do end fairly quickly) are a little off putting. But anyway.
Imagine if Zeref was the main character of Fairy Tail, but more casual/chaotic and with a curse that makes more sense, and the whole thing is a Romeo and Juliet aftermath, and you're already on the right track to getting the picture of NNT. (And if Zeref had a brother who was the melancholic/angsty version of Zeref, while the MC is more gremlin. But I digress.)
NNT is a master at blatant trope usage, which is to say, it looks at tropes dead in the eye, acknowledges them, and keeps going, in a way that fulfills the trope but also doesn't, at all. It's fun and fast-paced, and absolutely chalked to the brim with chaos. All of the MCs are absolutely powerhouses, and while there is a matter of the classic "gotta get stronger" plot points in there, because of the inevitable power creep, the main focus is absolutely getting their shitty lives together, because every single one of them is a wreck of an adult. They are all allowed to be wrecks, and it's beautiful. (The youngest MC is like....40. When I say they're all adults, I mean it. Though there's sooo much amnesia that goes on, so some characters do not realize they are adults. There are at least two characters who know that these characters are, in fact, amnesiac the entire time, but they don't share for good reasons. I won't say much more because of spoilers, but I do say this much, because otherwise things look kinda disturbing from a plot/writing standpoint, because it looks like some, er, minor-groping for a second. There is none. Somebody thinks she is 16. She is not. The character messing with her knows she is not, and he's also Zeref and he makes bad choices from time to time. He is given flack for this, though to his credit, his emotionless ass is still 100% loyal to his wife.)
The show is, on surface level, a wacko shounen with a classic save-the-kingdom plot. However, I would argue that the main theme of Seven Deadly Sins is about overcoming conflict, and this is a theme that it does really well. This multi-faceted, and covers many forms: intrapersonal, interpersonal, within a group, within a species, within family, within relationships, between species, between enemies, etc etc. And, despite this being a show with veritable, hilariously OP powerhouses, most of this conflict is acknowledged to not be able to be solved through violence, although smacking your friend/enemy to get them to see sense is absolutely a thing that happens, even though it's usually not the solution. NNT is about moving past conflict as a world, and whether or not they can; the titular Seven Deadly Sins are merely a fraction of this world, and both a method of solving, a method of introducing these problems to us, the audience, and ultimately, an example of successful resolution.
The world, Britannia, is largely, but loosely, based off of Arthurian legend. (All of the main characters are based off of Arthurian characters too, but again, loosely.) There are a handful of different species living in said world, the main five being humans, fairies, giants, demons, and goddesses/celestials, and they aren't the best of cohabiting. (Better, since the demons and goddesses ~purportedly~ wiped each other out 3000 years ago, but obviously, that didn't exactly happen, and that's part of the fun.) Admittedly, I was greatly inspired by NNT's racebuilding when revamping the race system in FT for HTRYDS. It's a fascinating mix of balancing in-universe stigmas and stereotypes while also using each group as thematic archetype—all while each species gets to be 100% dynamic and not locked to any attribute. You know. Like people, but with more story-telling flair.
The show has fun with itself, and the characters are so problematic and colorful, but in that wonderful, blorbo-shaped charming sort of way. It's the magic-slinging chaos fest that Fairy Tail could have been if Fairy Tail wasn't scared of letting their MCs fail spectacularly from time to time, also while not getting too wild and inconstant with the magic. The show's a good time, and it can wallop you in the feels even while being obvious. Sure, it's an anime that was probably made with a bit of horny, but overall I would say it's less fanservice than FT overall, though it's a bit heavier in the beginning which is unfortunate. But at least they are adults and allowed to keep their clothes on most of the time (except for Ban, but he doesn't count like that), so it's easier to push that aside and focus on those juicy, impossible-to-nicely-solve moral dilemmas that feed my itch.
(And the sequel is not disappointing either. It carries on with the good and bad fallout of the NNT finale and explores it deeper, while focusing on a new generation with ties to the old, though it's also early in the run so I can't give a lot of overview yet.)
So yeah :)

Chill's ramblings about the DCA fandom and personal feelings and issues towards TSAMS (both positive an negative):
(I'm writing this like an essay but treating it like a diary, so if I jump from subject to another, it is because I am just typing as the thoughts hit my head. Sorry for being so wordy.)
I simply feel like I need to write my thoughts down, so why not share them with you. Maybe you can validate my feelings or something, I don't know.
Intro:
So, oof, I got a fic rec from @thedenofravenpuff and I'm loving it so much I really wanna draw fan art for it...
But the problem is that it's a TSAMS fanfic and I've sworn to my name I'll never draw anything related to the show because that will make me engage with a part of the fandom I'm not comfortable with.
My biggest issue with TSAMS:
I have such complicated feelings towards the show and its fanbase and I do not wish to make my life and work more difficult because of it as it already is.
My own work and characters are already constantly being compared to TSAMS. When I first introduced Solar to my fic, he was constantly being referred to Eclipse from TSAMS. Now that the show had a character with THE SAME NAME, it has been even worse.
Dolldrop Moon has been compared to Lunar. Even though the dolldrops existed before the youtube channel was even created (and Lunar made his debut much later).
The biggest issue I've had has always been the fanbase, that takes the show as the canon for Sun and Moon from FNAF and uses it as an excuse to harass shippers like me because they think Sun and Moon are brothers.
I've first handedly seen the damage the fanbase has done to some of my friends who draw, or have previously drawn art for the show besides their own AUs and personal headcanons of Sun and Moon as lovers. I'm sorry to tag you, but @kriimhild and @fablekitty : I've seen how the immature side of the show's fans have treated you, I am so terribly sorry you've had to defend yourselves over and over again for things that were not meant to be mixed up.
I have posted some ideas of a possible Animutant Moon and Sun forming a polyamorous relationship with Solar in the future of "My Dear Daffodil" on my personal/adult Twitter account. Someone kept commenting on my posts that I was glorifying incest, because Sun and Moon were brothers and Solar was their cousin.
The post had "Animutant" in it. Not "TSAMS". These comments came from a person saying they were 19 in their profile. So it's not just kids who can't tell not every fanwork is about TSAMS. It's starting to be some adults too.
Vice versa I've had another person comment on my very clearly SFW Twitter how they're following me because I am an adult artist who draws TSAMS incest. I have never drawn TSAMS art. I ship Sun and Moon, but they're never related with family bond, because I love presenting them as lovers.
Why I ship Sun and Moon:
Because I am a hopeless romantic. I love romantic love. Every single story I write is always about love.
The only exception to this is the Poppy Playtime comic I am doing. But even then, I was originally planning for a romantic love between Dogday and the Player. Yet, I decided to leave it, and keep the relationship open for any type of representation the reader themselves will prefer.
I used to watch The Sun and Moon Show when it first started airing. I loved their playthroughs. I had a big distaste for them calling each other brothers, as well as some of the first "lore" videos they had. My biggest issue at the time was how Moon treated Sun, though. As someone who grew up with an abusive sibling, it sometimes just hit a bit too hard at home.
But it got better after Eclipse and Lunar appeared. Moon was more caring, and I started to really like his character development. There was one episode where Sun explained to Lunar that he and Moon had simply just "decided" to be brothers, despite not having a canonical relationship.
This actually made me really happy. Because the Old Moon was aroace, the love he felt was simply never meant to be romantic, but platonic. And by making Sun his brother by choice clearly indicated that Sun was always the one he loved the most - in a way that was suitable for aromantic person like him.
And it really made me enjoy the show for a while. Sun is my favourite character, and despite not always liking the way the show presents him, I always feel so much love for him, no matter the AU he is in. So I loved that Moon loved him more than anything, even if it was just platonic. Because I've always been under the impression that the canon Moon loves Sun, and is only under a virus to protect him. For me, the best part of any Sun and Moon AU is to know that Sun is the most important thing to Moon.
Why I stopped watching TSAMS:
And then that Moon I had really started to like, who loved Sun more than anyone else but just platonically, died.
It hurt so much I simply stopped watching the show. I've watched a few episodes here and there after that, but I am having a hard time liking the show the same as I did before.
Partially it's because of the fanbase. Partially it's because I don't find the lore very interesting and some of the stuff a bit repetitive. Partially it's because I am scared to see Sun eventually crumble up into madness, because he has been through so much.
I like the New Moon. He is funny and nice, what I've seen. His relationship with Solar has been interesting, and I genuinely hoped they would've been able to take the romantic route after Moon said he wasn't sure if he was aroace anymore. But as I said, I've only watched a few episodes after the old Moon died, so I don't know either of their characters that much to form any strong opinions about them. I just listen to the Monty and Puppet podcast once in a while and get a little inside to some of the lore that has been happening.
But hey, at least there's fanfics. Which is why I am rambling here today.
Fanfics:
It is a rare treat to find Sun x Moon fanfics that aren't simply just porn, or do not include reader inserts. So since my romance-filled brain needed something to fill the void, I've started reading some TSAMS fics with romance (that wasn't between Sun & Moon) and plot in them.
I know Solar was settled to be a "cousin" to the weird family tree of TSAMS. But I simply crave for Solar and New Moon to be at least queerplatonic. Solar is not from their dimension, no matter how much they decide they're 'cousins' it doesn't make him their real cousin or relative because they're not from the same world.
Sun and Moon are brothers but they technically gave birth to Eclipse, who then created Lunar so Eclipse is technically Lunar's parent and then brother and Lunar is Sun and Moon's brother and... do you see what I'm trying to say?
The family tree is so complicated that I don't think I'm a horrible person for shipping Moon and Solar and reading fics about them. Tell me if I am wrong though.
The FIC that is making me question everything:
So Puffy recommended this fic by @theinfamousdoctorf , "Eclipse Meets His Match".
I'm currently on chapter 40, and I am genuinely surprised how much I am liking this fic so far. It got everything; redemption and character growth, the representation of Sun as the good, glowing angel he is in my mind (for canon, and every AU. He is always perfect in my eyes I love him can you tell lol), slow-burn romance, drama, excitment, plot, jokes and funny moments... even if there are a lot of mentions of sex and sexual pleasure, it doesn't feel out of the place as there is so much more to it too.
Eclipse's redemption to become better and realising he is in love with Sun has been so interesting to follow. Sun deserves the love. I love when Sun is getting loved. I literally ship him with every other animatronic in the games and love it when people ship him with their self-inserts and OCs. Because I love him so much I want him to be loved in every possible universe he is in.
Even bigger bonus to this fic is the second pairing, Solar and Moon, which I already opened up about above. I don't know how much the fic is truthful to the canon lore of the show, but I wish to pretend this fic is the canon now /hj.
I love the characters and how they're written. I love the descriptions of their flaws and hopes and dreams. How vulnerable they can get. How closely they stick together. And as an appreciation for making me tearful and excited about fanfiction in such a long time, I would hope to be able to gift the author some fan art for their fic.
But I've sworn to not draw anything for the show. For my own good. I've got too many awful comments already from the fans of the show despite never doing any art for it. I am just scared it will turn things worse.
End words:
I don't know if creating a new alias would be the right choice. So my main name/account would be spared from the confusion that the show's fans seem to stirr into, where one tsams artwork turns all of the artist' work into tsams.
I don't care if the art style would be recognisible. The artist would be me, but not PixelChills. Just so I could gift something to the author of this fic that is currently saving me from the boredom of being unable to write my own.
Thank you.
(This text has been typed on my phone, so pardon for any typos).

Hi Shan!
Help! I am looking for another Japanese drama to watch. However, my queue is only filled with BLs right now and I wanted to venture outside of the genre a bit. So my question is - do you have any favourite non-BL doramas to recommend? (Preferably not romance-oriented, but any genre will do)
Ooh, fun one. I do have a few I've seen that might be interesting to you, though honestly I do find that Japanese queer media is more to my taste than their more mainstream het stuff. Here are a few to try:
Koisenu Futari
Tumblr media
Honestly on my hands and knees begging everyone to watch this fantastic drama about two people on the aroace spectrum who form a platonic bond and create their own kind of family.
Silent
Tumblr media
This one has romance, but the narrative is not about romance. It's really about the process of coping with becoming disabled, the harm caused by abandoning your loved ones in a fit of noble idiocy, and the slow repairing of relationships. So good.
One Room Angel
Tumblr media
An utterly beautiful show. Though it aired as part of Drama Shower, it's not actually a bl. This story is about healing from trauma and finding a reason to live. It’s also one of the most visually stunning shows of the last year.
She Loves to Cook and She Loves to Eat
Tumblr media
Only just barely a romance, this is the female WDYEY and it's so precious. Two women develop a close bond and learn about themselves as they form a relationship around one cooking meals for the other.
Monster
Tumblr media
This is a movie but I simply had to include it. I am not telling you anything about the plot, but it's excellent and a must watch for Japanese cinema fans, IMO.
Chugakusei Nikki
Tumblr media
It wouldn't be a proper jdrama list without some taboo content! This is a serious, deep, thoughtful exploration of what happens when feelings develop between a teacher and student, and the fallout that comes with it. Probably the best treatment of this trope I have ever seen.
Rinko-san Wants to Try
Tumblr media
This one is a romance with some classic tropes, but one I think does some really interesting things with gender dynamics and sex positivity. It's a fun watch!
If you end up liking any of these, let me know! A few of them might be tricky to track down, as well, so hmu if you’re having trouble finding anything and I’ll point you. I have a few more on my upcoming watchlist that may end up being future recs, as well.

If you don't mind a bit of self-promo, I just finished posting what may be one of my favorite fics I've written. It made me incredibly happy to write and share. It's called "It’s Not Too Bad When You Get Used to It" and is about Aziraphale and Crowley having to wear each other's corporations for much longer than one day at the end of season one. It's aroace, queerplatonic, and full of fluff and humor!
Here's a link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/52127296
Thank you to all the mods for all you do, this page is such an incredible resource and it always makes my day to see one of my own fics recced here. <3
Of course we do not mind, my dear! I hope you're proud of your hard work!
It’s Not Too Bad When You Get Used to It by IneffableDoll [Rated T, 28K words]
Following Armageddon’s failure, Aziraphale and Crowley perform the bodyswap, prepared to be captured by Heaven and Hell. But after both factions fail to show up the next day, the angel and demon must pretend to be the other for much longer than anticipated… Hilarity ensues, feelings are felt, and no one anticipated so much breakfast being involved. But that’s ineffability for you.

ace and aro books
went on a deep dive to find some aspec rep for myself and this is some of what i came up with. not official recommendations since i haven't read most of them, but they exist and i've put several of them on my own TBR list. these are all books i haven't seen on other rec lists, and i've done my best to confirm that the rep is aspec
if any of y'all have read these, feel free to share your thoughts or correct me if i've gotten something wrong
(organized alphabetically by title and separated by age demographic; mixed genres; subject to being updated)
(ftr just because an author is not specified to be ace or aro does not necessarily mean they are allo; i include that info if i happen to come across it, but i am not going out of my way to track down the identities of every single author)
(some of these books contain themes or scenarios that may be triggering for some readers; i have only done research to ascertain the ace/aro rep; if you find certain topics upsetting to read, it is your responsibility to do the research necessary to determine if a book is appropriate for you and to proceed into a story at your own discretion)

Summary: Jack Drake loves his wife and son, even if they're giant, fire breathing reptiles that would rather eat the mailman than pick up a package. That's fine, he can deal. It'd just be nice if they weren't so territorial. Then they could actually be on the same continent without trying to kill each other. Oh well, every family has their challenges. The Drakes' just happen to be more homicidal than most. Feat. Dragon Tim and Janet's loving (but murderous) relationship, Jack's ongoing attempts to be a good dad, and the Waynes getting increasingly concerned about Tim's home life after he becomes Robin. Now with Attic Gremlins, Jason's Emotional Support Bazooka, speedsters, excessive amounts of PowerPoints, and Tim's mastery of communication as he shows off just how good his human act can be.

Thanks for answering my question. Can I ask your best recs for LGBTQ+ media (tv series or books or manga/manhwa)?
I'm from a country that saw LGBTQ+ as something taboo and my family also think it's sinful. So my LGBTQ+ mainly are from BL and GL manga/manhwa (sorry if I'm wrong)...
Thanks if you want to answer me....
Hi again! I know how you feel, my country's also not great with queer issues. I've only recently started exploring outside the BL/GL subgenres so I may not have as varied a selection as I'd have liked to give you.
I've done a similar post recently but this time imma really go all out. I'll categorise them based on the type of media.
Danmei
Heaven Official's Blessing by MXTX : mlm, Chinese historical fantasy(tw: Violence, gore, death, like A LOT)
Mo Dao Zu Shi by MXTX: mlm, Chinese historical fantasy (tw: death, gore, violence, homophobia)
Peerless/Wushuang by Meng Xi Shi: mlm, historical fiction, murder mystery, enemies to lovers (tw: violence)
(Note: there's a lot more danmei I love but these are the ones I've rated highest, will attempt to make a masterpost or smthg for the rest laster)
Dramas
Not Me (Thai): mlm, political, secret identity, enemies to lovers (tw: violence)
Bad buddy (Thai): mlm, rivals to lovers, family drama
Novels
Peter Darling by Austin Chant : mlm, trans mc, written by a trans author, fantasy, fairytale retelling (tw: severe transphobia, violence and gore, also there may be an age gap but it's not specified)
I Wish You All The Best by Mason Deaver: Non-binary MC, queer romance, very informative and heart warming (tw: transphobia)
Spell Bound by F. T. Lukens: Non- Binary MC, queer romance, urban fantasy, rivals to lovers (sorta).
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo: Queer rep, Poc rep, disability rep, just very good rep in general, fantasy, found family (tw: violence)
Magnus Chase by Rick Riordan: One of the main cast of characters is gender fluid, and is also involved romantically (later on) with the MC, also great representation in general, fantasy, Norse mythological fiction, found family
All For the Game trilogy by Nora Sakavic: mlm, sports, mafia, slowburn, explicit and emphasized consent, enemies to lovers, found family. (tw: violence, PTSD, trauma relating to past SA, etc)
Loveless by Alice Oseman: Aroace MC, university life, queer exploration, found family (tw: aphobia, stereotyping and stigma)
Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir: wlw, space, necromancy, cool stuff, enemies to lovers (tw: violence, death)
She Drives me Crazy by Kelly Quindlen: wlw, sports, fake dating, very cliche but I loved it.
Tv Shows
Heartstopper: mlm main couple, also includes a lot of queer representation, found family (tw: homophobic, transphobia)
Good Omens: Genderfluid MCs(altho usually male presenting), slowburn, Christian derivative mythological fiction, very queer, slowburn.
Our Flag Means Death: mlm Main Couple, lots of other queer characters, pirates, found family (tw: gore and violence tho not much)
I've left out anime and manga/manhwa/manhua cause there's a lot of stuff and I'll have to sift through to find the ones which I consider good rep. May make a post on that later. I also sadly have only a few recs for non mlm fiction mostly cause I've only found a few so far I've really liked.
I hope you like some of these if not all of them. If I've made any mistakes or missed out on some problematic stuff pls do tell me so I can learn from it and fix it.

Self Rec Tag Game
tagged by the wonderful @hello-eeveev!!
Rules: Share five of your own fanworks (fic, art, etc.). Then, tag five more people to share the things they've made.
1.something you absolutely adore
a winter's crest detour [mature, caleb/essek]
the idea for this fic actually went through two different fandoms before coming to light in critical role. i'd signed up for a christmas hallmark movie prompt thing and sadly didn't get my pick, so i left cause i got unreasonably attached to this one idea and so it came with me as i moved into another fandom where about 10k got written before the muse abandoned me until shadowgast ate my life and here we are. its probably the most self indulgent fic i've ever written, purely created for moi and i love it, bonus other people seemed to like it too! woo!
2. something that was challenging to create
the edge of the blade [teen, caleb/essek]
a full YEAR in the making, this is my biggest, longest, most EVERYTHING fic. i love it, i had so much fun writing it but boy was it hard work. the time, the energy that went into this. i really challenged myself to dig deep for essek's emotions and insecurities and i'm really proud of how it turned out. i definitely improved as a writer because of the challenges this fic liked to throw at me
3. something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably)
long may they reign chapter 3 [gen, caleb/essek]
not gonna lie this is one of my comfort fics that i re-read of my things that always makes me feel better. i love the dynamic of being so comfortable and in love that the simplest acts of affection become automatic and the realisation of those acts can lead to a deeper sense and understanding of that love. i'm a sucker for the old married couple troupe.
4. something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.)
keep me warm [explicit, caleb/essek]
listen i am not a smut writer, it is not one of my strengths, it's very difficult for me and even the smallest scene requires days/weeks/months of writing cause i just struggle with it so damn much, (maybe she's (gnc) born with it, maybe its maybelline the aroace of it all). the idea for this fic just grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go so i put word to document and it actually came out alright, i was pleasantly surprised that i actually managed to put what was in my head into the fic in a very good way so very proud of myself for it
5. something you want other people to see
act i. the interloper [gen, caleb/essek]
ok ok ok i know i haven't finished parts 2 and 3 yet, YET! but i love how this series is shaping up even though it has grown beyond the teeny tiny wee fun little three part fluff ball it was meant to be into something so big and with feelings, think fluff ball the size of one of those stupidly big plastic tourist attractions they've got out in america. i love looking into old courting practices and seeing what would fit and connect with the culture of the drow and just being able to explore different aspects of their relationship and the important moments to them as well. part three especially has me a little teary cause its gonna be so gosh darn sweet so yeah, stay tuned i am writing it, its just bigger than originally designed lol
tag you're it: @aithilin, @mollymawkwrites, @ruvigapo, @mardyart, @glossolali mwah! show off your goods and wares darlings!!
