𝓐𝓝 ~ For my 6666th post, I decided to compile an Angbang appreciation post to (hopefully) spread some joy and positivity for one of my favorite ships of all time. I tried my best to present the things that I love about Angbang in a broad and open manner, so that it encompasses all sorts of takes and welcomes as many fellow Angbangers as possible.
As I will also say at the end of this: You're cordially invited and welcome to share what you love about this ship and/or add aspects I haven't mentioned in this post. Just keep it positive!
Tumblr media
Melkor. Ah Melkor, the man himself, the myth, the legend, a prime example for chaotic evil and our resident devil. Throughout the Silmarillion, as well as Tolkien's other writings, Melkor is busy hating pretty much everyone... except Mairon, it seems. He trusts him enough to let him run entire fortresses and taught him a lot of dark magic, which, as mundane as it may seem, is a lot more productive and friendly than Melkor has been to other people, including those who serve him. I - and I think many other Angbang shippers as well - love the idea that there is this one person in the world whom he actually likes and appreciates.
Mairon. The eponymous Lord of the Rings and general nuisance, enough to make Eru himself intervene twice, the Deceiver, professional pretty boy and peerless perfectionist. No other Maia has come close to causing as much drama, and something tells me Melkor will be proud once he hears about the Second and Third Age shenanigans. Mairon seems to hate everyone as well... except Melkor, with whom you could argue he might be a little obsessed. He's both frightening and hilarious and, for better or for worse, an icon both in-universe and outside.
Great ship name. Angbang is both a handy and memorable ship name and an amazing pun. It sure is a funny coincidence that my (to date) favorite ship all time also has my (maybe forever) favorite ship name of all time. And if that wasn't enough: If you take Morgoth x Sauron as the basis, their ship name is Moron which... yeah. No explanation needed. The stars aligned with this one.
Opposites attract. There are fundamental differences between Melkor and Mairon as characters, such as the chaos vs. order dynamic (as @maironite also pointed out), their goals - Melkor wanted to destroy while Mairon was more interested in getting things to run smoothly, though both were keen on enforcing their will - and their approach to handling situations they find themselves in - whereas Melkor is often impulsive, Mairon is more patient and calculating. You can also create an ice vs. fire dynamic, though they share the fire element (Melkor used to be the Vala of Fire and Ice and is still seen using these two elements a lot). It gives them some additional friction and spice to work with.
Similarities. Aside from their differences creating chemistry, Melkor and Mairon also share a few similarities and things they can bond over to balance whatever conflicts might arise. Both seem dissatisfied with the plans of Eru and the Valar, want to create whatever they wish to create without rules being imposed on them, have a questionable moral compass at best, like screwing people over and have obsessive tendencies (more on that later). I like to think that they can nerd out about about science and magic for hours, which likely became the foundation of their relationship in the first place, and that they also engaged in deep and challenging conversations that satisfied both of them in ways other conversation partners hadn't.
The Fall. We love fallen angels and a good corruption arc. Mairon's origins as a respected member of Aulë's household - who is still remembered for his skill despite his dark deeds - and moments where he could have potentially been redeemed are documented in the Silmarillion and the subject of many interesting discussions and fanworks. However, while less pronounced and presented as far less likely in the narrative, the same applies to Melkor. Even he started out as "good" and his motives, at least early on, are also understandable: He was dissatisfied with his inability to create freely and completely on his own. You could even say he's a bit of a failed artist which... is painfully relatable. As much pain and grief as both of them have caused, it's also tragic that they couldn't overcome their pride and choose a better path, for the sake of others as well as their own, and that Melkor ended up dragging Mairon down with him; both of them would have had the ability to do truly great things if this hadn't happened.
Philosophical aspects. To read Melkor and Mairon as a couple and their fates as a tragic love story creates interesting parallels with other star-crossed lovers in Tolkien's legendarium and raises fascinating philosophical questions. Can evil love? Can love be evil? Could love have been their road to redemption or was it - at least on Mairon's part - his doom? If I had to summarize my personal take on this, I would say that Melkor unwillingly corrupted love by genuinely being in love.
If you'd like to read a (more concise) take on this aspect which also touches on some other things mentioned in this post, I highly recommend this thread by @naruthandir.
There are just so many things you can read into this relationship and themes to explore, which I appreciate so much. It never gets boring and I always find new ideas to have fun with.
Power dynamics. Now, let me preface this by saying that I'm aware that some of you prefer it one way, some of you prefer it the other way, some see the Vala/Maia power imbalance as inherently unhealthy and like to take that as a central theme of their relationship and some prefer to interpret these two has having a fairly equal relationship. However, I'm not here to debate which take is "right" or "better", nor do I have any interest to. I think that, whichever way you choose, it's an interesting concept to play around with. Did you know that Estë used to be a Maia? I honestly think it would be cool if she still was, just to bridge the divide between Valar and Maiar a bit more. Nevertheless, I think we can all agree that especially Melkor isn't interested in what other Valar think is proper or appropriate and that Mairon, ambitious as he is, probably also likes having a Valarin partner/spouse. It's also interesting as a contrast to Melkor's usual arrogance and thinking that he's above everyone, and if you need something to prove that he wouldn't categorically say no to being with a Maia, look no further than his attempt at (forcibly) marrying Arien in other versions of the story.
Kink. Well, we've talked about power dynamics already, so let's not beat around the bush. We have some hot evil gay sex on our hands here. Super freaky too, if that's your thing. This ship is, in my opinion, excellent for BDSM and was what allowed me to discover and enjoy kink for the first time (though, again, none of this is a must if you prefer other takes). You can play with their existing power dynamic, subvert it, have them live out their sadistic urges, have them do elaborate roleplays, make use of all the creepiness and weirdness of the Ainur, particularly evil ones... they even have a convenient dungeon in their basement! There's so much good and sexy Angbang smut out there and I'd like to take a quick moment to thank everyone who wrote these fics that inspired and entertained me for years - and will do so for years to come.
Queerness. There are a lot of gay ships in the Tolkien fandom and fandom in general, but I still feel like it's important to mention this aspect. In fact, if you'd allow me to share something personal: Angbang was my first contact with queer content and, while this may seem strange considering that I am a woman, it also started my journey to discover my own queerness and I will forever appreciate that (I suppose it was "femboy" Mairon in particular alongside Melkor being a raging bisexual disaster - just my headcanon, not trying to push this on anyone - that finally allowed me to break out of compulsive heterosexuality and heteronormativity). I don't know if anyone had similar experiences with Angbang, but, well, I thought if I'm making an Angbang appreciation post, this might just be the time to include it.
Obsession. Melkor is obsessed with all things bright and beautiful, and this might very well include Mairon. As far as I'm aware, him being a fire spirit like Arien and the Balrogs are is fanon, but he's at the very least associated with fire in canon (on that note: kudos to whoever came up with the "little flame" nickname, it's so cute). Meanwhile, Mairon loves power and, as mentioned above, is obsessed with Melkor and his legacy enough to not only continue what they started, but also create a religion all about him. I like to think that both of them are also very jealous, which certainly ended up being the doom of a few innocent bystanders. They're just angry and evil and insane together and it's endlessly entertaining to me.
Tolkien's accidental "evidence". This could probably be its own post (which I might do in the future, though I'd do some additional research for it), and I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to "prove" to you that Angbang is canon or anything like that, I just find it funny when canon gives me tidbits that I can use for my "agenda". First of all, there's the infamous seduction line that has singlehandedly spawned countless fanfics and most likely raised a few eyebrows:
"In the beginning of Arda Melkor seduced [Mairon] to his allegiance (...)" The Silmarillion
One of my personal favorites is also the fact that, in the Lay of Leithian, Mairon starts ranting about how cool Melkor is - after only briefly mentioning Lúthien - and gets mad at Beren and the others for not stanning his boyfriend master hard enough. To make sure everyone knows exactly how awesome Melkor is, he later made sure people pray to him and perform human sacrifices which, since even any positive effects it might have couldn't reach Melkor in the Void, was apparently just for shits and giggles and to troll some mortals. Now that is what I call commitment! There's also Melkor's trust in Mairon and his fire spirit kink, but I've mentioned that already.
Aesthetics. Spiky black armor is incredibly sexy. Then we have peak hell and hellfire aesthetics. We have crowns and rings. We have fallen angels and fire and ice, as mentioned above. And we have two incredibly hot (literally) angels kissing. You could make them fuck in an erupting volcano. It's just... yes.
To conclude: We love villains, we love dark lords, evil is fun!
What I discussed in this post is pretty much just everything I could think of, with my friends and fellow shippers giving me a few additional keywords to mention, so there's definitely more. I hope this post made some of you appreciate this ship as well, maybe sparked or rekindled some love for it, and I invite you to add on and/or share what you love about Angbang. However: I'm going to have to politely and respectfully ask you to remember that this is an appreciation and positivity post, so I don't want to see any negativity, complaints about the way other people enjoy this ship differently or shade. Time and place. Alright? Alright.
Love you!
"Whom do ye serve, Light or Mirk? Who is the maker of mightiest work? Who is the king of earthly kings, the greatest giver of gold and rings? Who is the master of the wide earth? Who despoiled them of their mirth, the vain Valar? Repeat your vows, Orcs of Bauglir! Do not bend your brows. Death to light, to law, to love; cursed be moon and stars above; may darkness everlasting old that waits outside in surges cold drown Manwë, Varda and the sun; may all is hatred be begun and all in evil ended be in the moaning of the endless Sea!" Lay of Leithian, Canto VIII

If you’re not into Angbang for the "In a world where I hate everyone and everything, against all odds, I found acceptance / love in you” dynamic and the ancient, poetic intimacy of order and chaos, of creation and destruction, I’m not really sure what you’re here for.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
We are happy to announce the dates for this year's Angbang week:
May 6th - May 12th
Welcome one and all to the third annual Angbang appreciation event! Whether you're a previous participant, new to either tumblr or this pairing, or simply an event enjoyer who views and shares the new content, thank you for stopping by and taking a look! This year we have chosen to begin on a Monday with new dates rather than midweek, so the date of the event itself is a little later than in previous years, but everything else stays the same. (Prompts and additional explanation/info below the cut)
We would like to greet all new and returning participants and Angbang enjoyers alike to this year's week-long chaos couple event. Feel free to save the date or even spread this around if you're interested. As usual, any and all participation is welcome! We will be accepting any and all original creations for the upcoming event - visual, written or auditory, which is including but not limited to Fanfiction, Poetry, art both traditional and digital, playlists or other musical creations, moodboards, and anything else you may come up with. So long as they're new, or as of yet unpublished, created by you and feature Angbang, we want to see them and feature them! Unless it's an entire temple. Mairon has tried it several times before, and... well, we would prefer to remain undrowned if possible.
The list of prompts for this year (which can also be found in the image description):
Day 1 - May 6th: Scars | Injuries* Day 2 - May 7th: Haste | Malice Day 3 - May 8th: Spying | Shapeshifting Day 4 - May 9th: Mountains | Iron Day 5 - May 10th: Fire | Lava Day 6 - May 11th: Order | Chaos Day 7 - May 12th: Prompt of choice from the previous weeks*
*We are aware of the nature of the first prompt. Due to this, we do ask that in addition to all relevant tags, you add the correct tag of either "scars" or "injuries" to your work on day 1 should you choose to post it, especially the latter, so that people could filter it out. We will likewise add relevant tags to works featuring these prompts so that anyone may filter it out if they so wish. *As you've noticed, this year's final "free" prompt is a bit more restrictive, and would encourage using one of the prompts from previous years, found here and here. One of them is free space, but we do encourage using one of the non-day-7 ones if you can.
Like in the previous years, we encourage you to pick whichever prompt you like better of the two offered that day (you can also wait for another day if you don't like either prompt, or combine the two if you prefer, or even make content for both prompts if you're really looking for a challenge / prefer not sleeping during the month of May, whatever you like). Once you've picked a prompt and made content for it, use the current year's Angbang Week tag, which is either #AngbangWeek2024 or #Angbang Week 2024, or tag this blog directly when posting your prompt for us to reblog it. Try not to post it before the event starts (you can queue up specific posts for specific days to help with that), do not worry about being late, and most importantly, enjoy! No need to stress yourself out over silly ship stuff.
For any additional questions, requests, or additional clarification regarding anything event-related, feel free to send an ask or a DM at anytime!

Tolkien Fandom Event Calendar
Recently I’ve received some asks about events/weeks in the Tolkien fandom, so I thought I’d compile a list of those that I know about. This is not exhaustive, and dates are subject to change by the organizers of these events!
Other blogs you can check out are @tolkieneventsblog and @tolkienfandomevents, though I’m not sure how active those are. The @silmarillionwritersguild Discord also has a channel dedicated to signal boosts for all sorts of Tolkien-related & general fandom happenings, which is another excellent way to keep up with fandom goings-on.
Want to run your own event? Here’s some of my tips!
If your event is not on here and you’d like it to be, let me know and I can add it :) Note: I will only add events that have announced dates!

Angbang for ship bingo?
Tumblr media
• Ah yes, Angbang, one of the ships that fanon ruined for me since the beginning, and only writing with talented friends and reading the works of other talented writers made me appreciate it.
• Melkor has a type. He wants them shiny, fiery, with a dash of violence, sure of themselves and very much capable of defying them when needed (read: Varda, Ossë, Arien, Mairon, Maedhros)
• Mairon though is called Admirable for a reason. He was made to be irresistible. Not even the Ringbearer could resist him, in the very end. Not even Melkor did.
• Thing is Melkor (at least for me, in how I write him), didn’t go after Mairon. What he did, as with everybody else who followed him before— was lay out options. Mairon chose to follow him.
• Mairon the only maia to scam a Vala into marriage, lmao
• I said before I like my ships to make me think. So I like Angbang to be nuanced and varying. Angbang which is only nonsensical fluff and domesticity is ick. As is Angbang only focused on smut and overdone BDSM is also ick.
• Melkor is focused on his Great Task. Mairon helped to further that Task to its completion so Melkor did give him the time of day for it. The Bonding of their fëar however, was totally NOT planned.
• Mairon has many loves. But Melkor will always be the greatest of them.

Angbang Podcast Appearance
Tolkien Tumblr: I’m going to be appearing on a podcast to talk about Sauron in the context of Angbang. If you’ve encountered this ship (and I'm guessing you have :-) ), I’d love to hear your thoughts on it! I've done enough research on Sauron and fandom at this point to know a bit of the ship history, but fandom content being as ephemeral as it is I am sure there is plenty I don't yet know, along with changing attitudes towards the ship. Angbang was one of the first ships I encountered when I came back to Tolkien fandom in 2015 but it sounds like a lot happened before then.
When did you first encounter any iteration of a Morgoth/Sauron ship (be it ‘Angbang,’ ‘Melron,’ etc.)?
Does this ship change how you think about Sauron’s characterization or motives?
What do you like/dislike when it comes to this ship? Even if you don’t like this ship I want to hear why (not liking a ship is totally valid!), but be aware that trolling, meanness, queerphobia in any form, etc., will get you a swift block. Be kind to your fellow fan.
The nature of this ship being often explicit and dark, please only respond if you are over 18.
Reblogs/signal boosts are always appreciated!

✨A huge, heartly Thank You✨
To everyone that supports me here with reblogging my art, liking or tagging me!! I see you all and I'm so thankful for your attention 💖!! Sometimes it's much work to run two social media accs, next to work, commissions, private life and managing a chronic illness - I try my best to be active everywhere but I still get used to tumblr, trying to figure out how it works, having problems with some features and tools here. My main focus is still my IG account (also neldeathstar) - and sometimes keeping it going alone is so much work.
But I see you all here and your support is so appreciated!!! More art to come!! Gonna do a spicy angbang comic soon!! Stay tuned!!
Kisses,
Yours Nel

I know I don't have a lot of followers - but the Tolkien fandom has gotten me out of very dark places before and I figure it's worth asking anyway-
Does anyone have any words of wisdom and motivation for just...not giving up? I'm going through a lot of heartbreak and I'm just really struggling to have motivation to keep going- writing Angbang used to give me so much peace and I haven't even been able to work on my wips while going through this. I don't really have anyone to talk to but this fandom has given me so much reason in the past.
I'll probably just delete this later but if you even read this I appreciate you.

For the Silmarillion Gift Giving event <3:

"I must say I am quite excited to see what you have planned for me," Mairon said with a gracious smile when he was led to his seat.
"You will enjoy yourself, little flame. I made sure of that."
While Mairon inspected the obsidian plates, Melkor glared at several servants over his shoulder and motioned for them to get moving. Neither mistakes nor delays were allowed today; he wanted to show just how amazing of a lover he was, better than any who had vied for the Admirable One's attention back on Almaren.
Melkor sat down across from him, doing his best to mask his nervous frown with a charming smile. He had meticulously planned this evening, just as Mairon liked it, and picked out only the finest delicacies for their five course meal. Whereas he wasn't entirely sure about the Maia's eating habits, he figured that someone as famous for excellency as him would have a refined taste; he had even gone hunting himself to ensure only the very best meat would be served.
Not even Eru himself would be able to protect his kitchen staff if anyone dared to mess this up.
It was none other than Langon who came to bring the first course, probably motivated by curiosity rather than duty, and Melkor waved him off quickly to maintain privacy.
"I see this is going to be a longer affair," Mairon commented.
"Which I hope will be to your liking." Melkor fiddled with the cutlery, debating whether to wait for his reaction or to swiftly consume the tiny portion on his plate.
"Oh, certainly." Mairon looked up at him through long eyelashes and savoured the taste of his food with an indulgent expression. "Though I must admit... I am looking forward to a... tasty dessert later."
"Worry not, beloved. We shall have that, and I made sure to pick the best –"
A small giggle interrupted Melkor. "Precious, I appreciate it, but I was not necessarily referring to food."
"Oh."
Melkor looked down at his plate to conceal a pleased grin. He would remain ambitious, yes, but it was good to hear that he was wanted regardless and Mairon intended to wholeheartedly enjoy his company.

Thank you @hobbitwrangler for tagging me! <3
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
155...I've had the same account since I was 17 XD (although I have definitely deleted things since then)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
855,882
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Generally I only write for one fandom at a time, and right now that's all things Tolkien.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Transcript of Divorce Proceedings: Mairon v. Melkor with 170 kudos (Angbang, Tolkien)
Surprise Developments (Recalculating) (Solavellan, Dragon Age)
The Sleeping King (Thorinduil, Tolkien)
Laying a Foundation (Thorinduil, Tolkien)
You're going out like that? (Maglor & family, Tolkien)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Almost always, because it's really important to me that commenters know how much I appreciate their taking the time to leave their thoughts
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Angstiest? That's hard to say (。﹏。)
Haunted, Hunted is pretty angst, but also the ending is pretty much parallel to canon, so I can't really take credit for that one.
Sandbox Love is angsty in the true sense of the word I think, because the central grief of it is that Luthien does not seem to return Galadriel's interest in her.
OH and there's my first-ever Silm fic, which focused on Anaire in the wake of the rebellion of the Noldor, that's pretty angsty First Ruins of the Noldor
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Also hard to answer. I feel like I've written a lot of emotional fluff which is tonally "happy" even if the ending isn't a "happily ever after." Any of the trio of flash fics I wrote about Silm parent/child relationships would qualify.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Once in a while
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Do I lol My percentage of smut fics has skyrocketed in the last three years.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Very rarely, because they usually don't compel me. However in February I did write a Silm/Crimson Peak crossover, Fruit of the Family Tree.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
If it happened I don't know about it
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! <3
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Technically no...one time as a teenager I agreed to do it, but I totally failed to uphold my end of that bargain ;;;; I would have to feel pretty close to someone at this point to agree to cowrite.
14. What’s your all-time favorite ship?
All-time forever? idk. Silm OTP is Feanor/Nerdanel though. I believe in marriage counseling 🫶
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Any WIPs I currently have are all effectively discarded. If I can't finish a WIP or make significant progress on it within a few weeks, I can almost guarantee it will never be completed.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Scenery descriptions and subplots
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Generally I think it serves only to distract and frustrate the reader. If they happen to speak that language it's fine, but in the majority of cases they probably don't, and it doesn't really fulfill any purpose. If they're not familiar with the language, especially if it has a different alphabet from the one you're using for the rest of the fic, a reader isn't even going to know what that dialogue sounds like, let alone what it says. If I include it--and I try not to--I always include an immediate translation in the same line of dialogue. Having to scroll to the bottom and then back up for a translation is super frustrating and as a reader, I usually will not bother, so I don't expect my readers to either.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Star Wars
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
Honestly, I couldn't come even close to picking one

Similarly to last year, we will be accepting any and all original creations for the upcoming event - visual, written or auditory, which is including but not limited to Fanfiction, Poetry, art both traditional and digital, playlists, moodboards, etc. So long as they’re on topic, new, and created by you, we want to see, appreciate and feature them. Every day has a couple of prompts to choose from, for which you could create a piece of content you see fit to associate with the prompt you chose. You can pick one, do both separately or simultaneously, or even skip both altogether if you don’t feel like those particular day’s prompts are for you. When posting your works, feel free to post them on the day the prompt is from or later, and refrain from posting earlier if possible (For example, please avoid posting day 7 content on day 1 and so on). There’s no time limit, so don’t stress out if you’re posting something a few days “too late”. We will be reblogging and featuring your content even after the 7th of May, so there is no need to worry. When posting, please mention the day number and the prompt you chose for more convenient tagging. Tag any posts intended for the event with either “#Angbangweek2023″, “#Angbang Week 2023″, or tag us directly and we will feature as many works created for the event as we can find on tumblr. If you have any questions regarding the prompts, the event, or the tagging, don’t be afraid to ask us for clarification anytime! And finally, feel free to start planning and making your content early, if you feel like it. Happy creating, and see you in May!

Hi, I am new here at the moment, and I came across your art recently. I am absolutely in love with it, and I just wanted to know: Who all do you ship in the Tolkien Universe? (So sorry this is out of context, but I'm interested in which ships you do, like Halenthir, Angbang etc. I am so sorry if this sounds personal, or if this upset you in any way! If you don't want to answer, I understand. Thanks!)
Hello!
(Okay I swear if tumblr crashes on me one more time I am gonna cry, this is the fourth time I am writing this 😭) I really appreciate your kind words lovely anon 🤍 I appreciate any sort of intereactions with my followers so you don't have to worry about anything!
Now onto the question, I just mostly roll with the canon ships. I am too embarrassed to mention my favorite characters and ships it's just I don't want people to think me weird aaaaaaa but since you asked I'd definitely answer and I am really thankful you asked 😭🤍
So my first ship would probably be Finwë with Míriel or indis, or in fact all three of them together, I just absolutely adore them! They are my top fave otp hehe.
Second would be Ingwë and Finwë, I really like them too, I know it might no make sense but it's just my brain made sweet hcs and I fell in love so yeh.
Third would be oropher and gil galad, again probably makes zero sense just like me but I love them too, they were in fact the very first ship I had when I first joined the silm fandom haha :D
I know there's not much of the ones that a lot of poeple like I just like these rarepairs more and it might be a bit boring. So I apologize if my answer isn't pleasing at all, I am like that one fan whole lives under the rock and appreciate everyone silently lol.
Another reason could be I am more attracted towards the first generation of elves than the later ones, where you have russingon and others I absolutely have no idea how many ships are in there I am just here beneath my rock being happy with my probelamtic and old elves 😂
I would draw my ships but again I am too shy to but hopefully somday I'll gather the courage to do so hehe~~
Anyways I probably made it too long and out of context and I really apologize, its just I really like to answer in details whenever you guys ask me something I become too happy and start blabbering I won't waste your time now anymore lovely anon Have a great day! And take care if yourself 🤍

“Mairon Sung of pain and bitterness and betrayal, of shame and lies and confusion. And all of that discord he tied together a string of secrets, of emotions bottled and hidden into the depths of darkness.”
Posted the third chapter into Forged by Fire! Previously Mairon met and discovered the identity of Melkor, struggled with his conflicted feelings towards the fallen Vala, and crafted an armor for Manwë - which surprisingly fit another Vala much better. Now Mairon, plagued by thoughts of Melkor, tries out a new approach of Creation, and is presented an offer by the dark Vala.

I just came across your posts that state you don't ship Melkor/Mairon? I find that really interesting, seeing most people in the fandom do :)
Oh thank you, lmao. I don’t really find it interesting at all?
To be honest, I’ve never considered Morgoth and Sauron as anything but platonic. Primarily because I just don’t see the Valar or Maiar as being very sexual creatures?
They are more so referenced to as angelic being so I guess I always considered them more asexual then anything else. But in actuality I just don’t see them having physical needs? I always canonized them as working on a more emotional spectrum.
That being said, I know some people like to relate to the fact Sauron was seduced, but seduction is a form of Old French ‘suduire’ which means to corrupt, or the Latin ‘subducere’ which is to draw away, or remove. So even then I just never read into it as anything intimate other then just Morgoth speaking to Sauron’s better interests.
But I know I’m in the minority, bwaha. I just think they work better as evil business partners.
