#and the symbolism of the racquet.

do you guys ever think about how the story starts with andrew acting quickly slamming a random racquet into neil's stomach to keep him from running away and ends with andrew acting quickly breaking riko's arm with his racquet and then using it as a shield to protect neil. because i think about it all the time.

i have the most weird recurring dream that dune takes place in the present day, Jessica is dead (boooo she’s my favourite) and I am leto’s concubine and have to protect Paul. We always always always get attacked by harkonnens in a sports direct shop and I have to 1v1 beast rabban in the tennis section. I genuinely have no idea what this means but it fascinates me. I am always so confused when I wake up. Don’t know why I thought I’d share, guess it kind of counts as unhinged??? it’s just so WEIRD hahaha
channeling freud to analyse this: ur in a sports shop (MASCULINE DOMAIN) playing with tennis racquets (PHALLIC SYMBOL) against batista (MAN) to protect paul (SMALLER MAN) conclusion: penis envy. hope that helped!

References in Penacony 2.1's Chapter Titles
I recognised a few of them as I was playing (I don't usually notice or pay attention to chapter titles, but it was hard to miss them this time around because of the character switching mechanic) and decided to compile the meanings of all the chapter titles in 2.1 and which events they specifically directly or probably reference.
This is not spoiler free.
I've probably missed something - I haven't experienced everything referenced in this patch firsthand, but a lot of the references did slide directly into my wheelhouse for once.
I'll do a separate post for Aventurine's allusions specifically; there's a lot going on with him and this post was getting long enough.
Trailblaze Mission: Cat Among Pigeons
'Cat Amongst the Pigeons' is a murder mystery written by Agatha Christie featuring famous fictional detective Hercule Poirot. The story heavily concerns the stolen gemstones at the root of the murders, which have been smuggled overseas.
The obvious connection is Aventurine's gambit with the Cornerstones and the steps he took to smuggle his own into the Dreamscape.
In the original novel, the gems were hidden in plain sight in a tennis racquet - Aventurine hid one of the Cornerstones in his care in a bag full of money to try and pull a similar trick.
Chapter 1: The Devil in Velvet
Time travel romance and murder mystery written by John Dickson Carr featuring, as expected, a deal with the devil. The protagonist later becomes known as 'The Devil in Velvet'.
Aventurine makes a deal with the devil (the IPC), becomes known by a different name and becomes a 'devil' himself - this is the chapter where the Trailblazer agrees to work with him to solve the murders on Penacony.
Chapter 2: Lost Generation
A term used to describe Americans that reached adulthood in the 1900-10s. Americans in this era lived through the end of the Industrial Revolution, WW1, the Great Depression and WW2 - allusions to this can be seen in the lore of Penacony and its founding. This generation also lived through the Roaring 20s (the Jazz Age), which contributes greatly to aspects of Penacony's aesthetic.
Also, the meteoric rise of Disney. Mickey Mouse was born in 1928 in the cartoon Steamboat Willie. Which you probably know thanks to the Public Domain Mickey Saga. Mikhail, the Father of Penacony, is... probably... a reference to Walt Disney, and Dreamville/Penacony itself is probably Space Disneyland (a world where your dreams come true!)* Also, like. Clockie and Mickey, right?
*I have not been to Disneyland, world or any Disney-associated theme park. But I'm... pretty sure that's. it.
Chapter 3: Double Indemnity
Classic film noir featuring a manipulative femme fatale and her lover, who conspire to kill her husband and collect insurance money. The plan falls apart and the two eventually turn on each other. In the novel the two die together, but in the movie adaptation the femme fatale only realises her feelings for her lover when she finds herself unable to shoot him - he kills her, instead.
This is the chapter where Aventurine and Ratio conspire to trick Sunday re; Aventurine's Cornerstone gambit. Though the two pretend to turn on each other, unlike in the movie Aventurine's scheme works out as planned.
Despite Aventurine being unsure of it earlier in the patch, Ratio confirms he does care about Aventurine's wellbeing via the note in the 'prescription' given to Aventurine later down the line.
Aventurine's personal questline, Danse Macabre, appears. There's enough going on with Aventurine's symbolism that I'll put it in a separate post.
Chapter 4: When The Sacred Ginmill Closes
Murder mystery written by Lawrence Block featuring an alcoholic detective (Matt Scudder) trying to connect the dots between a series of murders. This one seems to be a bit looser.
The Express Crew reunite with bartender and head of the Bloodhound Family, Gallagher, who will take them to a bar the next time we see them.
Welt and Acheron discuss life in Penacony, as well as Welt lore.
Black Swan talks to Mysterious Voice On the Phone and learns that Acheron 'wasn't meant to exist.'
Chapter 5: Heaven is a Place On Earth
The only connection that immediately comes to mind is the song 'Heaven is a Place on Earth' by Belinda Carlisle. I am actually unable to think of the phrase 'Heaven is a Place on Earth' without mentally putting an 'ooh' in front of it. Catchy song.
This may be a reference to Penacony seeming to be a miraculous wonderland where everything is great and everyone has a wonderful time - contrary to Acheron's accounts of what she witnessed in her travels through the Dreamscape.
Aventurine runs around throwing money at NPCs and meets up with Sparkle. A reference is made to The Statue of the Happy Prince that I will explain in another post.
Chapter 6: Why Do The Heathen Rage?
One translation of Psalm 2.1, from the Book of Psalms. Broad interpretation; 'it is impossible to undermine or escape the will of God and all attempts to do so will fail'.
E.g. the biblical Ten Plagues of Egypt (water turns to blood, plague of frogs, locusts, pestilence etc.) were a both a show of force and the ongoing consequences of the then-Pharaoh refusing to obey a direct command from God.
The Express crew questions Gallagher about the murders on Penacony, and Gallagher discusses the contentious relationship between the Family and the Watchmaker (the Father of Penacony and creator of Clockie and co.)
Bonus: all of the drinks you can make in this chapter are also references to books. The 'base' you choose determines which author you get, and the ingredients selects one of three of their books. Two of those authors are referenced elsewhere in this patch - Poe and Lawrence Block.
The Watchmaker is, quote Gallagher, "the root cause of all the anomalies in the Dreamscape", who betrayed the family and is apparently the source of the impossible deaths in Penacony. Gallagher believes the Family screwed over Mikhail, and Something Unto Death is the direct consequence.
Chapter 7: The Tell-Tale Heart
Short gothic/psychological horror written by Edgar Allen Poe. A madman recounts a murder he claims to have committed - he killed a man with unnerving eyes and hid the body beneath the floorboards in his house. Despite almost getting away with the murder, the madman is driven to confess his crime because he is haunted by the sound of the dead man's still beating heart, coming from beneath his house.
The chapter Acheron becomes playable.
A lot of attention is given to both a) Aventurine's eyes and b) Aventurine being a 'madman';
Ergo; Acheron + Aventurine (the madman) kill Aventurine (the man with the disquieting eyes/murder victim) - Acheron kills Aventurine directly, but it was a result of Aventurine's scheme that she did so. When I said I knew how Aventurine's story was going to go by this point, I wasn't kidding.
The madman in the Tell-Tale Heart can still hear the victim's heart beating beneath his floorboards; like the victim in the book, Aventurine ends up in a state of being dead but not quite.
Acheron's personal questline debuts here as well - it's called 'Good and Evil', which is the name of a philosophical text written by Frederick Nietzche that I have not read and have no plans to do so. Sorry. Aventurine had the good grace of having a lot of visual and literary allusions I'm familiar with - Acheron does not.
Chapter 8: All The Sad Tales
Doesn't seem to relate to anything, but most of this chapter's literary references are elsewhere. This is the chapter where we get a huge chunk of Aventurine's tragic backstory as he walks to his death.
The poem The Wasteland, specifically the 5th part 'What the Thunder Said', is directly quoted repeatedly throughout this chapter. I'll talk more about that in the Aventurine post.
Chapter 9: A Walk Among the Tombstones
A murder mystery by Lawrence Block featuring alcoholic detective Matt Scudder.
This chapter addresses multiple 'deaths' (tombstones) in one way or another;
Aventurine dies and meets Acheron in a place that's not quite the land of the dead, but prepares to continue his journey onward. the IPC prepares their next move following his death.
The Trailblazer reunites with the supposedly dead Firefly.
The true culprit, Gallagher, a bartender and the head of the Bloodhound Family, murders Sunday. I suppose Gallagher might be, symbolically, representative of the two things Scudder consistently has to deal with (murder and alcohol) lmao.

Hello, dear readers! I'm Jellian H. Agor, a young person living in the peaceful town of Poblacion, Damulog, Bukidnon. As the youngest in my family, life has been an exciting adventure of self-discovery, dreams, and the occasional struggles. In this blog, I invite you to join me as we explore my interests, aspirations, and personal battles with mental health. Let's dive into the things that make me who I am and uncover the challenges I've faced along the way.
Black and white hold a special place in my heart as they symbolize simplicity and harmony. These colors bring me joy and help me find balance in the world around me. Speaking of balance, I find myself torn between badminton and volleyball as my favorite sports. The excitement of holding a racquet or being part of a team on the court brings immense satisfaction to my life.
One of my greatest joys is expressing myself through art. Painting serves as my creative outlet, allowing me to convey my emotions and thoughts on a canvas. The act of painting brings me peace and helps me connect with my inner self. Additionally, when it comes to footwear, I have a fondness for shoes. The versatility and style they offer have always fascinated me, making me prefer them over sandals.
Currently, I'm a student at San Isidro College, where I am pursuing my education and shaping my future. One of my lifelong dreams is to become a business owner and make a positive impact on others' lives. The idea of creating something of my own and leaving a mark in the world of entrepreneurship fills me with excitement and determination. Alongside my entrepreneurial aspirations, I have a strong desire to explore the world. Discovering different cultures, immersing myself in new experiences, and witnessing the beauty of our world is a dream close to my heart.
Behind the colors and dreams, I've faced struggles with my mental health. Anxiety has been a constant companion, causing me to overthink and experience difficult moments. However, I refuse to let these challenges define me. Through self-reflection, seeking support from loved ones, and taking care of myself, I am slowly learning to navigate these challenges and find inner strength.
In this blog, I have shared a glimpse into my world, embracing the true colors that make me who I am. From my love for black and white, my passion for sports and art, to my dreams of entrepreneurship and traveling the world, I am a work in progress. While battling mental health challenges can be daunting, I am determined to overcome them and continue to grow into the best version of myself. Join me on this journey of self-discovery, resilience, and personal growth as we navigate the ups and downs of life together.

Adriano Panatta & FILA together again until 2026
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
FILA is thrilled to announce that tennis legend Adriano Panatta will once again be a FILA Global Ambassador. This agreement will last until 2026.
FILA first put the spotlight on Panatta during the most successful period of his career. In 1976, he won the Davis Cup and the Internazionali di Roma. In addition, he went on to win ten major single tournaments and 18 doubles. Symbolically, he also beat Björn Borg, another FILA ambassador of the Golden Age of Tennis
On Saturday 14th of October In Treviso, Italy, FILA and Panatta will again shine together at the inauguration of Adriano Panatta Racquet Club’s new pickleball courts.
At the event, FILA will present a re-edition of the famous jersey worn by Panatta and the “Azzurri” team in the 1976 Davis Cup final in Chile, where Italy defeated Chile 4-1.
This famous red kit symbolised Panatta's opposition to Augusto Pinochet’s regime, which ruled over Chile at the time. Even today, it remains rare to see sport and political activism embodied in a single moment.
Treviso will witness the reunion of a historic pair of tennis greats - Adriano Panatta and Paolo Bertolucci, who will play the pickleball courts together.
This match will mark the inauguration of the centre's new courts and promises to be a thrilling pickleball showdown.

This Week’s Horrible-Scopes
It’s time for this week’s Horrible-Scopes! So for those of you that know your Astrological Signs, cool! If not, just pick one, roll a D12, or just make it up as you go along. It really doesn’t matter. Better yet! Check out “Heart of the Game, Fredonia” and see if they can sell you those D12’s with the symbols on them. Tell them “Shujin Tribble” sentcha. And “Hail, Hail, Fredonia!” Home of the Blue Devil!
This week we’re generating random numbers from 1023 to 2023 - and looking to see what’s so special in each of those years. Look, it was either that or search for Animated GIFs based on those numbers, and that really doesn’t work in a spoken or print medium. So let’s go!
Aries
The year 1202 started on a Tuesday… otherwise known as M. Bison’s favorite day of the week. Lots of notable things happened during your year, mostly centered around various Crusade battles in what is now Western Europe. Nothing specifically sticks out as memorable, so we’ll use that as inspiration. This week remember that you are important in the grand tapestry of life… even if you’re otherwise a forgettable face. It’s a nice face, don’t get us wrong! It’s just… you’re more Best Supporting Actor than less Best Actor. Know what we mean?
Taurus
Your year of 1501 started on a Friday - which means everyone got to enjoy the weekend off! (*Beat Pause*) No, no one was able to do that. It was winter in 1501 and people were trying not to freeze. In your corner though, the first printed collection of polyphonic music was published by Ottaviano Petrucci in Venice. Just for that, this week, learn to read music again… and look up what “Polyphonic” means.
Gemini
1052 - a leap year starting on HUMP DA-A-AY! Ok, ok. Enough of all that. Here’s a GREAT item that happened that summer. Godwin, Earl of Wessex, sails with a large fleet up the Thames to London, forcing King Edward the Confessor to reinstate him into his previous position of power. So this week learn from Godwin, Earl of Wessex, and sharpen up your blackmail skills. And try to remember which side is PORT and which side is STARBOARD.
Cancer Moon-Child
Also starting on a Wednesday, 1505 had the first recorded use of a Tennis Racquet. One of the people credited with using it was, and this was his full name and title… “Philip the Handsome, Duke of Burgundy” in the Netherlands. He was also known as “Philip the Fair”, since… you know… he was a handsome fellow. So this week, brush up on your backhand swing… and grant yourself a posh regal-sounding title.
Leo
1636 was a leap year starting on a Tuesday, and we’re not going to invoke the ghost of Raul Julia again this time. But this time we get to invoke the evil chuckle of Tim Curry! You see, in France, Cardinal Richelieu persuaded King Louis XIII to issue an ordinance excusing the French nobility from military service if they paid a tax which allows the hiring of paid cavalry. Now picture this - Tim Curry’s version of Cardinal Richelieu from the 1993 movie “The Three Musketeers” whispering in your ear, feeding you evil thoughts as only he can. This week keep imagining that and let everyone wonder why you’re smirking like that all day.
Virgo
Starting on a Saturday, 1757 had a bloody awful start. There were no Saturday Morning Cartoons, no NPR News, no matinee movies to watch. Honestly it just sucked. BUT! Something good did come of it: The Rigshospitalet, national hospital of Denmark, is founded at Copenhagen. Its name translates as “The National, State or Hospital of the Realm” and is a teaching hospital, STILL IN OPERATION TODAY! So this week, do something long-lasting.
Libra
Wow, Libra. Starting the year 1553 on a Sunday. Got to sleep in that year, huh? Again, no! ‘Cause it’s the 1500’s and you’re trying not to freeze. Born that year was Beatrice Michiel, a Venetian spy, who died in 1613. Now as any good spy would do, her actual birthdate is unknown. But is it fair to say when she died… she folded up? (*Pause*) This week, play You Laugh You Lose to some Dad Jokes playlists on YouTube.
Scorpio
Another Tuesday-Starting year, you get 1353! In this year the Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta makes the first recorded visit to Timbuktu and Kabara, when returning from a stay in the capital of the Mali Empire. And just like that, this is THE FIRST TIME The Horrible-Scopes have Zero’d the DJs! This week, try to do something that was never done before because nobody said you could.
Sagittarius
1504 starts off crappy and doesn’t improve much, since it started on a Monday without coffee. Well, MOST of the world didn’t have coffee yet. Anyway, in your year, Michelangelo's sculpture of David is unveiled in Florence. And if you’ve ever seen it, or a copy of it, it is magnificent! And he’s got a properly-proportioned penis. Yeah, we said it. Nudes are art and anyone that doesn’t accept that can just avert their eyes. This week… don’t take a cold shower.
Capricorn
Starting on a Friday, 1440 was a leap year - and statistically you’re right where you ought to be! Something else got started this year that’s still in existence. Eton College was founded by Henry VI of England, and how cool is this?! It’s got a coat of arms with a lion, three lily flowers… and a Fleur-de-lis… maybe because Henry was also the disputed ruler of France for a bit. So this week, take over someone else’s work-place zone by claiming it as your own. And just shrug to answer why you did it.
Aquarius
1884 was another Leap Year, and another Tuesday. Weird, no Thursday starts in the bunch. Oh, well. How about this weird nugget? William Price attempted to cremate his dead baby son in Wales… the town. He was tried and acquitted on the grounds that cremation is not contrary to English law, thus allowing him to carry out the ceremony (the first in the United Kingdom in modern times), setting a legal precedent. So let this be a lesson to you, Aquarius… someone needs to be dead BEFORE you set them on fire. Good Talk, man!
Pisces
Another Friday start, ending us at 1199. In YOUR weird history moment… A short-lived truce is declared, between the Kings Richard I (the Lionheart) and Philip II (Augustus). Two of Europe's most powerful rulers meet on the banks of the Seine River, while shouting terms to one another. Just think about it - screaming back and forth across a river to exchange data… just the same way that computer modems used to scream at each other on telephone lines. With the occasional, “WHAT?!” thrown in for good measure. This week look up the movie quote, “I hear you! I hear you! A deaf man could hear you!”

Tumblr media
Tennis is a sport that captures the hearts of millions around the globe. The excitement of the game lies in the mastery of different strokes, and the forehand is undoubtedly one of the most crucial shots to learn. In this article, we will explore the fundamentals of the tennis forehand stroke, delve into effective training programs to enhance your skills, and take a peek at the latest trend in tennis apparel - the tennis t-shirt with inspiring quotes.
The Tennis Forehand Stroke: A Foundation for Success
The forehand stroke in tennis is a fundamental shot that every player must master to excel on the court. It is played with the dominant hand, typically referred to as the "racket hand," and involves an efficient combination of footwork, body positioning, and racquet mechanics. The forehand is known for its versatility, enabling players to generate significant power, control, and spin.
Key Elements of a Perfect Forehand Stroke
a. Grip: Mastering the correct grip is vital. The two most common grips for the forehand are the Eastern grip and the Semi-Western grip. The choice of grip depends on individual preferences and playing styles.
b. Footwork: Proper footwork is the foundation of a powerful forehand. Players must position themselves well, maintain balance, and transfer their weight smoothly during the shot.
c. Swing Technique: The forehand swing consists of the backswing, forward swing, and follow-through. Understanding the mechanics of each phase is essential to execute the stroke effectively.
d. Body Rotation: Generating power and control in the forehand requires efficient body rotation. Utilizing the core muscles and shoulder rotation helps players deliver a forceful shot.
Tennis Training Programs : Elevating Your Game
To take your tennis forehand to the next level, a well-structured training program is crucial. Professional players and coaches recognize the significance of targeted practice sessions that focus on specific aspects of the forehand stroke.
Effective Tennis Training Drills
a. Shadow Swings: Practicing shadow swings without a ball helps players improve their technique, footwork, and racquet path.
b. Ball Machine Drills: Ball machines are excellent tools for consistent ball delivery, allowing players to work on various aspects of their forehand under realistic conditions.
c. Live Ball Drills: Training with a partner or coach, engaging in drills like cross-court rallies and down-the-line exchanges, enhances consistency and shot selection.
d. Footwork Exercises: Footwork drills, such as lateral movements and split-step practices, improve court coverage and positioning.
Tennis T-Shirt with Quotes : Unleashing Your Inner Motivation
Off the court, the latest trend in tennis apparel revolves around tennis t-shirts featuring motivational and witty quotes. These stylish t-shirts not only provide comfort during practice sessions but also serve as a way to express one's love for the sport and showcase their unique personality.
Popular Tennis T-Shirt Quotes:
a. "Eat, Sleep, Play Tennis, Repeat": Emphasizing the dedication and passion for tennis that fuels a player's daily routine.
b. "You've Been Served": A fun play on words that showcases a player's sense of humor.
c. "Game, Set, Match": A classic phrase that captures the essence of tennis, symbolizing triumph and success.
d. "Love Means Nothing to a Tennis Player": A cheeky reference to the scoring system in tennis, where "Love" means zero.
Mastering the tennis forehand is a journey that demands dedication, consistent training, and the love for the game. By understanding the key elements of a powerful forehand stroke and incorporating effective training programs into your routine, you can elevate your game to new heights. Additionally, expressing your passion for tennis through trendy t-shirts with motivational quotes allows you to stand out on and off the court. Roland Garros:
The French Open, also known as Roland Garros, is the only major tournament on a clay court. The red surface of the courts has earned the match its nickname, “the Red Slam.” Playing on this type of court requires different tactics and strokes than grass and hardcourt surfaces. The game is typically slower, and the bounces are lower, so players must adjust their playing styles to the environment.
The tournament has been held annually since 1925 and is considered one of the most prestigious tennis events in the world. The French Open has become a revered institution for professional and amateur tennis players.

With all the pestering Neil about his sexuality and him constantly needing to remind people that he doesn’t swing, sexuality being discussed as which way you swing became a whole big thing in the books
And I’d just like to point out that there’s some gay ass symbolism in Andrew (who internally went oh no, he’s hot and interesting from the start) swinging for Neil from the very first second he appears when he literally swings a racquet at Neil as his entrance into the series

Even sitting on the floor, desperately gasping for air, he didn’t miss the way Andrew Minyard’s blank face suddenly turned into a frown, head tilting just the slightest bit, recognition and something akin to pure hatred shining in his eyes. Like recognizes like, after all, it’s easy to recognize someone who doesn’t have a soul when everyone else around you your whole life seems to have one. He had never met another like him, he had never really believed there were others like him despite what the dead seemed to say. With clear disregard to the protests of all in the room, Andrew crouched down by Neil, the stolen racquet being used as something to lean on as he did so, his hazel eyes empty and level with his. “My, my…” his eyes shifted to the side then back to Neil’s. "Another one." "Fuck you," Neil spat. Wait. Another one? Neil turned in the direction Andrew had looked at and gasped when he saw Kevin Day standing there, just as soulless as Andrew and Neil. “Pretty sure that’s the last one.”

so i know we talk all the time about how neil is what you get when you remove nathan from nathaniel.
it obviously makes sense to us because we know we’re reading a book. nora chose that name intentionally, knowing it was going to be neil’s permanent name.
but here’s the thing.
neil didn’t.
when neil chose his name, he thought he was going to keep running and running and running until his father caught up with him, and that would be the end of him. he was buying time, trying to stay alive.
or was he?
look at what neil does. he picks this name, a name which has meaning to nathaniel, instead of all the generic names he’s gone through over the years. he finds a high school and he enrolls. he joins the exy team, he does well, he stands out despite supposedly trying not to. he was never supposed to play exy again, not when it’s so tied to the moriyamas.
before her death, mary keeps nathaniel going. she keeps him moving, running, changing names and faces and personalities. when she dies, he picks up two things he was never supposed to: a name connected to his birth name and an exy racquet.
is this a giant ‘fuck you’? is he tired of running and preparing to stand up to his father? i’d argue no, not when he tries to bolt instead of signing with the foxes.
neil loves exy so much he’s willing to die for it. neil can’t quite hold on to his fake persona when he gets mad and lets his temper loose. neil’s name is neil.
even after years and years of running, changing identity whenever someone so much as breathed in his direction, neil stayed the same at his core. he never lost himself.
and there are a lot of reasons he might have chosen neil, chosen to play exy again. but i think he’s refusing to let nathan take everything from him. nathan took his childhood and his mother and his safety and stability. ‘neil’ and exy are things he can take back. and he does.
alternative, more depressing take under the cut:
correct me if i’m wrong, but i’m pretty sure neil was the first name he chose by himself, as in, after his mother died? with its symbolic connection to nathan and nathaniel, neil might have expected that to be his ‘final name’ as well. just in a different way. in a ‘he would die neil josten’ way.
if neil spent the whole year in millport after his mother’s death expecting to get caught, expecting that mary was the one keeping them safe and he wouldn’t be able to do it on his own, then it would make sense to pick a name that meant something to him, for his last one. it would make sense to pick up an exy racquet and do something he loves while he can. a way to enjoy the time he has left. if neil assumed he wouldn’t last long without mary anyway, then he might as well throw some rules out the window.

I thought about Ken in glasses and then veered off in a completely different direction, with him having them as a kid. Everyone thought he was kinda dumb then it turned out he just couldn't see the board properly.
He probably lost them all the time but Logan made him go back to collect them (there's a story about Frank Packer making his son go back to boarding school to collect his forgotten tennis racquet that brought it to mind). I pondered baby Stewy becomes friends with this awkward mess of a boy that everyone picks on, but then the thought of tiny Kendall with a blazer that doesn't fit in the shoulders and glasses and a stutter was just too sad.
So eventually Kendall just wears contacts instead but sometimes they get annoying and if it's just him and Stewy over school holidays and during college he puts the glasses back on if he really has to.
Anyway, I know that's all the opposite of what you said but I was compelled to rant about it then
I always enjoy your rants/headcanons! I think one of the most fun things about being a hardcore Stewy/Kendall person is always seeking out people’s ranges of ideas of what went on in their school years (both as kids and in college). I mean in general we all seem to write that they did a lot of drugs together and that Kendall was always a mess that Stewy got a handle on dealing with really quickly but there are still endless unique scenarios obviously…you could make a great (sad in ways but great) fic out of Kendall forgetting his glasses at school and Logan ordering him to go find them and Kendall being miserable over the fact he forgot something that’s brought him misery (kids picking on him) but Stewy offers to help him look for them because he can tell how poorly Kendall is handling the psychological-Logan-consequences of what will happen if he doesn’t find them. And that’s how they become friends in the first place maybe? In my headcanon I go in the direction of college/adult Kendall wearing them to class/work (mostly as reading glasses since that seems to be his one use of them in the show) and he loves wearing them because no one knows he wears them when he and Stewy have sex so he gets a thrill from that, but I could totally see a scenario where he only feels safe wearing them when he’s on break with Stewy/alone in general with Stewy like you mentioned, since he has rough associations with the glasses otherwise. That’s really affecting and I’m really soft on giving physical objects symbolic weight in relationships and I like the idea that the glasses could go multiple ways for Kendall.
I’m not sure how much of that checks out with your glasses ideas but it’s been fun bouncing stuff against it, so thank you!
