“Director Danvers, Lena Luthor is here.”
Alex stared at the speaker on her desk for a moment, feeling her anger rise. She didn’t need this now. Whatever stunt Lena was pulling, now was not the time. She had fires to put out and Supergirl was out of the fight.
Kara, a voice whispered. Kara, your sister.
Alex’s prime directive was take care of Kara. Yet here she was, again, dealing wit the aftermath of Kara being knocked down and beaten to a pulp in service of people she didn’t even know. Half of them hated and feared her now.
How had she let this happen? By small allowances. Step A led to Step B and then on to Step C. It started with looking the other way while Kara foiled robberies and rescued cats from trees and led to Kara defacto joining an organization whose mandate was, on paper, to imprison her or worse. She told herself that she was doing good, that between her and J’onn, they had become the wolves keeping the wolves from the door. Under the right leadership, an organization mandated to “control” aliens could help and protect them.
It gave her no comfort when Kara was lying in the sunroom unconscious, and the government was breathing down Alex’s neck while J’onn was off finding himself on some pacifist bullshit quest.
(Why did their fathers always leave them? Were the Danvers girls doomed to face everything alone?)
Now Lena was here. Luthor’s sister. Alex had let herself trust this woman and she wasn’t sure how that happened either.
Might have been because her kid sister, her precious dumbass kid sister, was over the moon for her Lena and didn’t even know it.
It was Luthor who did this to Kara, Luthor and his allies. Alex had enough of this. There would be no trial this time. No public spectacle. She didn’t care if it ended her career or even her freedom, she was going to kill him, because Kara couldn’t. Kara would always look for the other way, the perfect solution. She was beautiful and good, a hero who came from the heaven to set things right. A saint.
Alex was not and she never pretended she could be.
She drummed her fingers on the desk and stared at the speaker and said, “Keep her in the lobby.”
“No, Director, I mean she’s here, outside your door. We… she can be persuasive.”
Alex reached over wearily and hit the button to open the doors.
Lena marched in, and the sight of her took Alex aback. The boardroom predator with the razor sharp hairstyle, flawless makeup and fuck me pumps was gone, replaced by what Alex would think was Lena’s kid sister under other circumstances. She looked her age, for once, dressed in faded jeans and a threadbare MIT sweatshirt, carrying a battered messenger bag.
Alex had never seen Lena so bedraggled. Her hair was a chaos of unkempt curls pulled into a low ponytail and she was sans makeup, and for good reason. Her eyes were painfully red and the tracks of her tears were as livid as if they’d been left by claws. Her bottom lip was trembling and she fiddled with the strap of her bag.
“Close the door,” said Lena. “Can we talk here? Is this room secure?”
Alex pushed the button and closed the doors.
She had barely said “Yes”.
“Where’s Kara?”
“Not here. Why would she be at the-“
“Don’t fuck with me, Alex.”
Alex looked at her sharply. “I don’t know what you think you’re going to accomplish here with this, after you started working with Lex again.”
Lena stormed forward and slammed her palms on the desk, rattling Alex’s possessions. She leaned forward and glared with Alex with a furious, teeth-baring demand.
“The clone almost killed her. Where is she?”
Alex swallowed hard. “I’m not sure what-“
Lena cut her off. “I know Kara is Supergirl, Alex. I need to see her. Please.”
Alex rocked back in her chair as if struck by a physical force. The words slam into her chest like a brick into her sternum.
She knows.
“How?”
“It doesn’t matter. I’ve know for months. But you have to listen to me. Lex knew. He told me her identity, tried to throw it in my face so I’d turn on her. He knew her real name, he knew about you, he knew about your mother. You have to do something now.”
“Oh my God,” Alex said, standing. Mom.
“He wasn’t going to stop, Alex!” Lena blurted, almost hysterical. “He was never going to stop. He was going to kill her, he swore to me that she was going to die. I had to do it!”
“Do what?” Alex whispered.
“I had to kill him,” Lena wailed, balling her fists impotently as if she were trying to choke her own soul. “I had to!”
The reality of it slams into Alex and before she knows it she’s rushed around the desk to throw her arms around her friend, all thoughts of Luthors and loyalty and everything else going out the window as Lena sobs into her should.
“I killed my big brother.”
Lena’s voice so so small, so broken, that Alex can’t help but sob with her.
The fucking bastard just wouldn’t stop hurting them, even in death. Alex didn’t believe in hell but she wished she did for Lex Luthor.
Lena’s sobbing ebbed but did not fade entirely. There was only one cure for that.
“Come on, let’s go see our girl.”
Alex led Lena outside. First, she flagged down Brainy and gave quick, clipped orders: Get Eliza and get her here now, and find Nia and do the same. Then make a list of anyone Lex might have targeted and find them and get them secured.
Then she took Lena to the sunroom. They stopped outside and Alex handed her a pair of silly looking goggles.
“We can’t stay long, the light is too intense even with sunscreen, and you look like you burn.”
“Like a lobster,” Lena choked, pitifully.
Alex entered the code and opened the door.
Kara lay on the padded bed in a paper gown, bathed in sunlight. She was a mass of bruises and her right arm and left leg were in casts, a collar wound her neck. She’d been unconscious for three days now, possibly in the same kind of healing hibernation she’d fallen into after her first fight with Reign.
Lena rushed to Kara’s side and cupped her cheeks with her hands, brushing back sweat-dampened hair.
“Oh God,” Lena blurted, “oh please oh God Kara wake up.”
“She’s been out for days,” said Alex. “She’s stable, just not coming around. This has happened before. We think it’s part of how her body heals serious injuries. It just takes time. She’ll wake on her own when she’s ready.”
Lena didn’t even seem to hear her. She leaned down with an intensity and intimacy that shocked Alex to the core, and then shocked her further. Lena loosed three words in a language from a dead world that she has no business knowing.
“Zhao w rrip.”
Alex was thunderstruck. Lena knew Kryptonian?
“Lex had a translation dictionary,” said Lena. “I just hope I pronounced it right.”
“We need to go,” Alex said, glumly. “You can stay at the DEO. We could use your help and it’s safer for you here anyway.”
“Just let me stay another minute. Please.”
“If I do, your face will be peeling off tomorrow. We can visit again later. Come on.”
“I can’t,” Lena choked out. “I can’t leave her.”
Alex was an about to say something else when her mother fell open. Kara’s eyes fluttered open and she immediately turned to Lena, bleary-eyed.
“Did you mean that?”
“Yes, Kara, I meant it.”
“But zhao means-“
“I know what it means,” Lena insisted, so full of joy now. “I know what it means, darling. That’s how I meant it. I love you, Kara.”
Oh.
Alex swallowed hard. She didn’t want to interrupt but Lena, and not to mention Alex herself, would get very sick very fast if they didn’t leave this room.
Lena grasped Kara’s uninjured hand.
“You have to go. It’s not safe for humans in here.”
Lena swallowed hard, her throat bobbing.
“Before I… can I…?”
“Yes,” Kara whispered.
Lena darted down and gave Kara a quick, soft kiss on her lips, lingering for just a moment. Kara smiled at her and their hands slid apart as Alex half dragged Lena out of the room and closed the door, then ripped off her sun shades and stared.
“How long?” she breathed.
“I’ve been in love with her for at least for years now,” Lena said, her voice cracking a little. “I’ve wanted to tell her for so long.”
Lips trembling, Alex was besieged. She remembered every time that she told Kara to stay away, not to trust her, not to tell her. The weight of what she has done presses her down as firmly as the knowledge that Kara will be healed soon lifts her up. There’s only one thing she can do.
She swept Lena into a bear hug.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry for doubting you and pushing you apart. I’m sorry I didn’t see sooner.”
Lena, at last, fully broke down in Alex’s arms. Later, when Eliza arrived, she passed off Lena-hugging duties to her mother until Kara was fully awake and can leave the sunroom.
Then, Alex went and did what you do for family.
She got rid of the body.

Celebration Baby, Literally! (CL16) [Blind Items AU]
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Part 6 in the Blind Items AU [can be read separately])
Summary: 8 months after Charles Monaco win, the fans get to see just how hard he celebrated
Tumblr media
“Ohhhhhhh mate, you have been outed!” Pierre laughes as he shoves his phone into Charles’ face.
“Pierre, I cannot read when you put the screen in my eyes like that, back up” Charles responds as he shoves his longtime friend. Like many of the other victims of the ‘F1 Blind Items’ account, Charles’ face drains of color as he sees what they are saying. While there is some truth to the rumor, it still is far from correct. “Ah! Merde, they got so much wrong, mate!”
“What's wrong, honey?” Charles’ girlfriend calls from the other room where she is sitting with Pierre’s girlfriend. The couple decided to join the Gasly house for a nice dinner, although reading the post surely made Charles lose his appetite.
Charles and Pierre look at each other as they realize she heard them. The one thing the post got right was that his girlfriend was very pregnant with what is most likely a post-win conceived baby. There was no reason to stress her out when she was so offline it would take a while for her to learn about the rumor, giving Charles enough time to convince her to go public and try to make this into the smallest problem possible.
“Nothing, baby. I love you” He responded as he made a ‘stay silent’ motion at Pierre.
“Um okay, love you too?” was all she replied, not believing in the slightest that this was nothing.
It didn’t help that for the rest of the night, Charles was off in his own world, thinking of how he was going to execute his terribly thought out plan. But she wasn’t going to interrogate him on it, at least not again, she had already asked him multiple times if he was okay and if he wanted to talk but he would always answer with a “I am fine, beautiful. How can I not be when the woman I love most is pregnant with our child.” While it was charming, she still wasn’t convinced he was okay after all.
After hours of deliberation, as he sat outside the bathtub while his girlfriend relaxed in it, he finally spoke his mind.
“We should tell people” is the best he came up with after hours of thinking.
“Tell people what?”
“About the baby”
“We told people about the baby”
“I mean like everyone, we should go public.”
She turned her neck to fully face him at that.
“Where is this coming from? Why now?” She asked.
“No reason”
“You are a shit liar, Leclerc, tell me why.”
“People know”
“What people know?” She asked. God, he was awful at explaining things.
“Everyone.”
“Then why would we need to tell them?”
Right when he was about to reply, he closed his mouth. Why would he need to tell people? While the Blind Items account had become a reliable source as they had yet to be wrong, there wasn’t any reason to actually address the issue, at least not till the baby was born, which would happen during winter break.
“...I guess we don’t need to. It's just- there is this account that posts rumors about the drivers that so far have always been true, but one came out about us and it isn’t really that correct, I just thought we should squash it.”
“What did they say that wasn’t correct?” She questioned.
“They implied we only got together because of the baby, and that we weren’t dating before I uh, knocked you up.” The ‘very public breakup’ the post referred to, was an actual breakup that happened a year prior to the world knowing. It was another very private relationship, as Charles became more famous and ‘sought after’ he liked to keep relationships from the limelight till they got serious in order to protect his girlfriends. But when his ex had found out just how serious things were with his current girlfriend, she wanted to bring it to light in order to get her 15 minutes of fame, which ended up being more like 2 minutes. As terrible as it was, once the public knew she had no connection to Charles anymore, they lost interest in her.
After requesting he pull up the post, Charles handed his phone to his girlfriend so she could read.
“Is this what you are worried about? The part about me getting a ring for a ‘push present’? Don’t want me getting any ideas?” She joked. They had been together long enough and were about to have a baby, so the idea of getting engaged took up about 65% of the monégasque’s thoughts, the rest being about her and the baby, maybe 5% in total was devoted to F1.
“Ah no, my love, you know that is not it. Although an engagement ring would already happen even without our baby, so I will get you something else as well as a present” He said as he kissed her shoulder, then her neck, then her cheek, finally landing on her lips.
“We don’t need to say anything, let us enjoy the privacy for a while longer. Wouldn’t it be better to go into the upcoming season with a baby and a financée?” She asked.
She was right, why not make an even bigger entrance by saying nothing and letting the rumor die down, in order to enjoy the bliss of privacy for a little while longer.
“That sounds wonderful, mon amour. Absolutely perfect.”

I know not everything the actors say in interviews is accurate but I’m pretty sure in the beginning of the season Oliver talked about how Buck was going to have to work for his next relationship. He talked very deliberately about how Buck has always had relationships come easy. In that he’ll like someone and then end up with them without having to really fight for them. He said Buck's next relationship was going to be different, yet things with T*mmy feel exactly the same as how it’s felt with most of the women Buck's been with. Where the relationship comes easy and it’s mostly based on sex and the person doesn’t really know who Buck is at his core.
I can’t help but wonder if Tim told Oliver that he was planning on making Buddie happen this season or at least moving them closer to happening and it got pushed into s8. In the beginning of this season we had a lot of joint Ryan and Oliver interviews more so than in previous years. Oliver also did a lot of posting/liking about Buddie and Ryan on insta. He also talked about Buddie in all his interviews more than in previous seasons. Given how Oliver has said multiple times in the past that he didn't want to lead people on about Buddie I can't help but feel like he thought things were going to play out differently.
If you watch the beginning of s7 it feels like we’re heading towards something important happening with Buddie. We had a lot of Buddie scenes including the locker room scene, the scene where Buddie talk about underlying sexual tension, the scene where Buck is showing how much he's like Chris' other dad, Buddie working together on multiple calls including rescuing Bobby together. Then of course there was 704 which was like a flashing neon sign saying Buck has feelings for Eddie and is scared Eddie is going to replace him.
Then in 705 it was Eddie who interrupts Buck's first date with a guy. It's Eddie that is the focus of the conversation where Buck comes out to Maddie, where she tells him that if he has something he needs to tell Eddie he will in his own time. Then we get a very intimate scene where Buck comes out to Eddie, including a lot of shared looks between them and a hug. Also of note that Buck only had two coming out scenes in the whole season and Eddie was chosen to be one of them. There was also the gym scene where they talked about Eddie's sex life.
To me it feels like Tim changed course around 706 when he cut a lot of Buddie stuff from the ep especially the karaoke scene. I know a lot of things were likely cut for time but still they shot a scene of Buddie being all touchy feely singing a karaoke love song for the Madney wedding ep. Karaoke was one of the first things Madney did when they were falling for one another it was too much of a parallel for it not to mean something.
I think 706 was really supposed to be a bigger Buddie episode than it turned out to be. This may also be why so much of the promo stuff was about Buddie. I think originally this was going to be the episode to start officially letting the audience know there was something there between them. You can also see parts of the original story where they had Buddie joined at the hip after the bachelor party (helping Maddie and looking for Chim) everything came off very coupley.
This may also explain why Abuela is at the wedding and Marisol isn't (more about Marisol later). I wonder if originally we were going to get some kind of scene with Abuela and Eddie where she says something about Buck. There's no way they brought her in to just stand in the background like an extra there had to have been a purpose for her character originally.
I think Tim changed course when he decided he wanted to do the Kim/Shannon Vertigo mess. Which I don’t get why someone didn’t step in and tell him how ridiculous this idea was especially in this short of a season. I feel like Tim wanted to do something artsy and also get Devin Kelley back on the show and this was how he chose to do that. Unfortunately though the story turned into a mess and worse I feel like parts of Eddie's emotional journey that deserved more focus were lost. Like even the general audience didn't know what to make of that scene where Kim was dressed up as Shannon.
The Vertigo story might also be a part of why there were rumours that Edy had finished filming prior to this storyline starting in 707. Maybe she thought she had but was brought back in for this storyline. Who knows? This season was basically being written almost as they were filming it and I'm pretty sure Tim was changing things left and right. You can see that more in some episodes vs others and definitely more the later the season goes on.
I also think that would explain why so little thought and time was put into both Eddie's relationship with Marisol and Buck's thing with T*mmy. I don't think either relationship was supposed to last the entire season. There was talk early on in s7 that Lou was only supposed to be around for something like four episodes definitely a short run. In interviews Oliver also made it seem like B/T wasn't going to last and that T*mmy eventually was going to be more of a mentor type figure for Buck.
Lou also used the word rom-com when referring to B/T. Although take that with a grain of salt because it may have been on one of his cameos and he said all kinds of stuff on there. But you can see rom-com love triangle type stuff being set up in 704/705/706 between Buck, Eddie, and T*mmy and then T*mmy just kind of disappears (until 709) and the Kim/Shannon thing happens.
This would explain why there is so little development in s7 for T*mmy and B/T's relationship to the point that they never even defined that relationship by the end of the season. They never even had Buck call him his boyfriend. Which I'm glad for that in a way but it just goes to show how bad the writing was this season. And as much as I want Buddie and as much as I dislike Lou and T*mmy I'm also really sad for Oliver because this is not the coming out storyline Buck deserved.
In 707 there was zero mention of T*mmy and this is also when the Kim/Shannon storyline started so I think this is when we see some significant changes to the storyline from wherever things were originally set to go. Though the scene with Buddie and Chris I think some of that was from whatever had been originally planned. It's too flirty to explain otherwise. Maybe originally it was going to be something where Eddie and Chris spend time at Buck's loft but because there was the Kim storyline they wrote it with Eddie leaving for the date.
The thing is Buck's feelings for Eddie throughout this whole season have been louder and more apparent than we've ever seen them be before. Oliver is clearly playing Buck as in love with Eddie. Go back and watch the scene in 704 where Eddie talks about clicking with T*mmy and see how Buck looks like his heart has broken into a million pieces. Or the way Buck watches Eddie in the coming out scene in 705. Or Buck's face in 709 after he said he was worried about Eddie. It's just so obvious that man loves Eddie and would do anything for him.
This is why I really thought there was a good probability of us getting an oh moment feelings realization from Buck in the finale or at the very least a moment where they hugged and consoled each other over losing their son. But we didn't even get that.
I'm honestly not surprised that Oliver went quiet on social media during the back half of s7. Throughout the whole season Oliver wasn't really showing support for B/T and he talked very little about the ship in his interviews. I think this was originally because the plan was for B/T only to be a short term thing and Oliver didn't want to lead anyone on about that ship. I also personally think Oliver has wanted to see Buddie happen for years so he's not going to be rooting for another ship.
I also get the vibe Oliver's not crazy about working with Lou. Anytime you see behind the scenes video and pics of the cast Lou isn't in them or if he is no one is interacting with him. You can also see in the one interview Oliver did with Lou that the chemistry between them just isn't there. They feel more like coworkers just doing their job vs how Ryan and Oliver always appear like giggling besties in every interview and behind the scenes thing we see them in.
Like others have said I'm just sad for Oliver. I think once Tim told Oliver about them wanting to do the bi Buck storyline he must have been so excited. He's talked in interviews about how he's always seen Buck as bi so he must have been thrilled when they said they were finally taking his character there. And for all the issues this season Buck's coming out is still an incredibly important storyline and has meant a lot to so many people. Oliver has even talked about all the people that have messaged him and how deeply they've been affected by a character like Buck coming out.
Still I'm sure Oliver wants more for Buck's love life than the lackluster relationship that he's been stuck with. You can tell in how he talks about Buddie that he wants to see that relationship happen and that he wants to make sure it's done right and doesn't play into stereotypes.
I just hate that T*mmy is the first guy they've stuck Buck with. I hate that Tim and the show have done nothing with this relationship. We don't even really know by the end of s7 how Buck feels about T*mmy or how he feels having been dating a guy for months. Some of that should have been revisited maybe with a talk between Buck and Maddie. But it's like others have said they made Buck bi and then just kind of forgot about him. I think though that's because like I said Tim pushed everything to the side to focus on the Vertigo plot and also all the stuff with Bobby to the detriment of everything else. Buddie was the original plan and Tim didn't really have much else for Buck to do so they left him in this nothing relationship.
I really hope s8 is better all around not just for Buddie but for Buck and Eddie as characters. I hope that Tim plans to follow through and actually make Buddie a reality not just because so many people ship them because of how important for queer representation a ship like Buddie becoming canon could be. I also want to see Oliver actually get to play Buck in a relationship he's proud to talk about.

Hi, I adore your family AU and am wondering if you have any plan on writing/drawing more of them? I'd love to see more of their daily life together, such as going on a picnic in the garden, shopping, or even little Charlotte trying to help out her dads in their respective jobs (like sitting on Ciel's lap when he does paperwork or helping Seb with making cake for Ciel). Also, just curious, who is stricter, Sebastian or Ciel? Thanks!
Tumblr media
Hiii, sorry for the late response! Tumblr literally didn’t send me any notifications 😞 i just happened to check my inbox. Here’s a pregnant Ciel as an apology 🫶🏻
Yes! I plan to draw more of them together! I have so many ideas of what to draw so I’ll keep the, coming hehe. As for writing…. 😅😅😅 perhaps not yet. I need to focus on Forks and Smothered 😅 god knows I have been putting the next chapter off! But I’ll sprinkle some lores in here and there with my drawing! Thank you so much for liking Charlotte 😭😭 that means a lot to me!
As for who’s stricter, I think Ciel is.
In regard to parenting, Ciel would have a lot of doubt as to how to actually be Lottie's parents. He lost his quite young, and whatever memory he has left of them both are glorified, remembered through the distorted lenses of grief and nostalgia of a better time. The adults around him are barely adults themselves, with their own problems. Thus, he has no role model or framework for what good parenting should look like.
This is where Ciel would sometimes draw away and become avoidant when times get hard. Like when Lottie misbehaved, newly testing out her boundaries; like when it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows... Of course discipline is needed, but every time she cries, or screamed "I hate you, papa" in response to his chastising, Ciel believed her. He felt like he failed her, like he was so fucked up he wasn't meant to be a parent after all. He would locked himself in his chamber for days and didn't come out.
Sebastian understands that trying to drag his husband out of these episodes would have the reverse effect; so he just gentle be there for him, hold him and told him he was doing a good job, and that he too, was learning. Even Lottie is learning through her tantrums. They were all learning how to be.
Some in-verse things in regards to this pic:
“r!Ciel is an Alpha, but his twin brother is an omega. When o!Ciel came back from the cult claiming the title and the name ‘Ciel Phantomhive’, he has to masquerade as an Alpha…
Things got complicated when he became pregnant with Lottie.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again, thank you so much for taking interest in this AU! And pls send me more ask/suggestion! It helps my inspiration for the AU!

I. THE PAST
Aurora has always hated being late, even when it wasn’t her fault. It wasn’t her fault the production meeting ran late. It wasn’t her fault that there was something wrong with the subway line she needed to take. It wasn’t her fault that her bag strap decided to snap, spilling its contents onto the busy 8th Avenue sidewalk halfway through her approximately twenty-block walk. She had texted Nicole to let her know she was running late; she didn’t have the wherewithal to consider how strange it was that she never got a response.
By the time she had gotten to the restaurant, she was sweating and looking forward to a cold drink. Which is why she was even more annoyed when she couldn’t find Nicole in the restaurant. It was garnering her strange looks from the maitre d’ who had told her there was no reservation under either of their names.
Aurora checked the location twice before stepping back onto the street and pressing ‘call’ on her phone. It was a precarious balancing act, with her bag grasped to her chest.
There was no response.
As she pressed ‘call’ again, her eyes caught sight of Nico Hischier. A pit was beginning to form in her stomach as she began to realize what was happening.
No response.
At that moment, Nico looked up and caught her eye. His smile and wave all but confirmed her suspicions.
She quickly typed out a message as she ventured back inside.
To Nicole 💁🏼‍♀️: nicole laud, what the fuck have you done. if this is what i think it is, im going to fucking kill you.
“Hi, Aurora!” Nico smiled; it was endearing, the way it dimpled his cheeks and crinkled his eyes. He stood up to give her a hug and pulled the chair out for her.
“Nico,” she said, “It’s nice to see you! Although I’m a little caught off-guard, I’m not gonna lie.”
He scrunched his brows. “Oh? What do you mean?”
“Nicole didn’t tell you?” She paused, examining his confused expression, and sighed. “She didn’t tell you.”
“Tell me what?”
“Look, Nico, I don’t know what Nicole told you to get you to come here, but this is not that. I thought I was meeting her for dinner, but it seems this has been some sort of setup. I’m really sorry if that’s not what you were expecting. Especially after waiting for me, which, I hope she at least did you the courtesy of passing along the message that I was running late?”
“She did,” Nico said.
“Well, at least there’s that,” she sighed, “I know you’re a great guy and everything, but I’m really not looking to date. At all. I mean, even if I was, I don’t date coworkers. I’m really sorry. She shouldn’t’ve done this. We can just call this a night if you want.”
Nico let a brief flicker of disappointment cross his face before schooling his expression into a soft smile. “Well, I mean, we’re already here, and you look like you might need a drink and some food. We can just have dinner as friends. Or colleagues if that’s what you prefer. I don’t mind either way. It’s up to you.”
Her stomach rumbled, reminding her of just how long it had been since she’d last eaten.
“Yeah, okay,” she said, “I’m pretty hungry, and I was really looking forward to the gnocchi.”
Despite the way the evening started, Aurora admits she had a good time. Nico was easy to talk to: open, attentive, and responsive. Maybe it was just the bottle of wine they shared, but it was rare for her to get as comfortable with someone so quickly as she did with Nico. How quickly they were both willing to share the deeply personal stories they usually kept to themselves.
Nico talked about what it was like to leave his family and move to a new country as a teenager. He shared stories of his siblings and his childhood in Switzerland. He confided in Aurora about the pressures and joys of being named an NHL captain so young.
Something about Nico made her feel safe enough to share her life story. It was rare for her to talk about her son with someone who was practically a stranger. But she found herself telling Nico about the ex-boyfriend who broke her heart at the age of 20, disappearing when she was in the third trimester of her pregnancy.
Nico indulged her by asking her question after question about Theo; admittedly, it’s always her favorite topic of conversation. Nico seemed genuine when he mentioned that he looked forward to meeting him, even going as far as offering to take her son skating for the first time. It was a nice thought, but she didn’t think he would follow through on it.
The time passed quickly, and soon, her phone alarm was alerting her that it was time to relieve the babysitter.
“Ah, shit,” Aurora said, “I need to get going.”
“No problem. Do you need a ride?” Nico asked, smiling warmly.
“No, it’s okay. Should we get the check?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Nico said, shaking his head, “I got this.”
“Come on,” she prodded.
“No, no. I feel bad; you were absolutely ambushed today. It’s the least I could do.”
The earnestness on his face made her pause, eventually relenting. “Okay, fine. Thank you.”
“No problem! I’m serious, though. I would really like to be friends. And I would love to take Theo skating.” He took out his phone and handed it over. “Here, type in your number, and we’ll figure out a time to make it happen.”
“Okay,” she said. She felt warm and bubbly; his smile settled her for some reason.
Later that night, after she had gotten home and checked in on her son, she responded to the two unread messages on her phone.
From [Unknown number]: It’s Nico! Lemme know if you got home okay! When do you wanna do skating? To Nico 😈: home! weekends are usually a good bet for us. especially before the reg season starts. From Nico 😈: How’s next Sunday? Maybe after practice. I can reserve some ice time at the rink.
From Nicole 💁🏼‍♀️: he thinks you’re cute! you should give it a shot. he’s a really good guy. To Nicole 💁🏼‍♀️: i know you were trying to help, but that was kinda fucked. he IS a great guy, and i think we WILL be good friends. but i’m still really pissed that you ambushed me like that. From Nicole 💁🏼‍♀️: i’m sorry. i didn’t think it through. To Nicole 💁🏼‍♀️: it’s okay. just don’t do it again.

II. THE PRESENT
[two years later]
Aurora watches as Nico chases Theo around the rink; with all the time he spends on the ice with Nico, he’s getting so good. As they skate past, Nico slows to send her a smile. She waves back.
She hears someone sit down in the seat next to her, and she doesn’t need to even turn to check who.
“Teddy’s getting good,” Nicole says.
“Yeah, he is.” Her gaze never leaves the boys going round and round the ice.
“Must be all the help he’s getting from our dearest Captain,” she laughs.
“What do you mean?”
“Oh, you know.” She knocks her shoulder into Aurora’s. “First overall. Captain of the NHL team. Not everyone gets dedicated skating lessons from someone like that.”
Aurora doesn’t respond to that, but she does let her eyes drift over the other players on the ice: Curtis with his kids, Erik with his kids, Brendan with his kids… She swallows the lump in her throat.
“When are you and Jesp gonna have kids?” she asks.
“Shut up,” Nicole laughs, “You’re deflecting.”
“Deflecting from what?”
“Fine, we can talk about something else,” Nicole sighs. “When are you going to start dating again?”
“Oh my god, I can’t believe we have to go over this again. I don’t want to date. At all.”
“Oh, come on,” she whines, “Teddy’s seven already. It’s time. When was the last time you even got laid?”
Aurora doesn’t respond, focusing on the squeals of laughter and the scraping of blades on ice.
“Rory, I just want you to be happy,” Nicole continues gently.
“I am happy. I’ve got a great kid who I love,” she grinds out, “I just want to focus on him. He’s enough.”
“I know, Rory. Of course, he is, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t want more.”
“Well, I don’t,” she pouts. She knows it doesn’t come off nearly as resolute as she intends it to.
“I don’t believe you,” Nicole says; she sounds so sure. “You’re a romantic, Rory. You’re always reading those books and watching the shows and movies.”
When Aurora doesn’t respond, she sighs, adding, “When are you going to stop punishing yourself? And don’t say that you’re not. I know you still beat yourself up about it. You’re a great mom, Aurora. You can still be a great mom while dating.”
They let the silence linger.
“I don’t want to introduce new people into Theo’s life. I don’t want to have to explain to him why these men come and go from our lives,” she responds finally.
“Things don’t have to happen like that, you know?”
“Like what?”
“New guys coming and going.”
“What do you mean?”
“It doesn’t have to be someone new at all,” Nicole says carefully.
Aurora finally tears her eyes away from the rink and finds Nicole’s eyes boring into her own. “What the fuck does that mean?”
“Oh, come on, Aurora,” she says, rolling her eyes, “Be so fucking for real right now.”
Aurora just keeps glaring at her.
“Okay, fine, be like that,” Nicole huffs. “Be honest, how much time do you two spend with Nico? Like, every day when he’s not on a road trip, right? Nico’s down as his second emergency contact at school. He was a new guy at one point, but he sure isn’t going anywhere.”
“Nico’s different,” Aurora says, grinding her teeth together as she turns back towards the ice.
Her eyes immediately find Nico; he’s leaning over the bench so casually, so easily, as he helps Theo with his water bottle. When he looks up, his gaze locks with hers as if he knows exactly where to look. He smiles, and she can see his dimples even from here. She feels herself smiling back. A laugh bubbles in the column of her throat when he turns back to stick his tongue out at her son.
Nicole snorts. “Yeah, he’s different, alright.”
“Yeah,” Aurora sighs, not at all picking up on the subtext. “He is. Not every guy is like him. God, I don’t even know if there are any guys like him.”
Nicole hums, “Uh-huh. So, why won’t you date Nico?”
Aurora’s head whips around so fast she has to blink at her friend for a second.
“Nico’s a really good friend. That’s it. And that’s all it will ever be,” she bites out.
“You know, he agreed to go on that date with—” She cuts herself off when she sees Aurora’s glare. “Okay, I know we don’t talk about it, but just hear me out. He wanted to go on that date with you. He’s into you.”
“Yeah, he was,” Aurora says, shaking her head. “That’s before he knew I had a full kid who I am responsible for 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. No one wants to walk into that situation. Someone like Nico definitely doesn’t want—”
“I’m gonna cut you off right there,” Nicole says. “Nico literally has lunch with you at work most days he’s here. He takes Teddy skating as much as he can. He goes with you two to museums, or zoo, or whatever, almost every week. He helps you make dinner and watches kid shows like Paw Patrol. Like, I just don’t understand why you refuse to see this, but he’s all in, Rory.”
Aurora feels her throat tighten and tries to cool the heat in her cheeks.
“Yeah, as I said. Nico’s a great person. He’s probably the best person I know. But he’s a 25-year-old NHL player. He doesn’t even date ‘cause he wants to focus on his career. He certainly doesn’t want to be tied down to a family already.”
“Oh my god,” Nicole laughs humorlessly, “Like, serious! Do you hear yourself?”
Aurora just keeps glaring back at her.
Nicole shakes her head. “You know, he used to date, right? Or, at least, hook up. Jesper says he hasn’t seen Nico pick up in well over a year. What do you think that’s about? You got an excuse for that, too?”
And for once, she doesn’t know how to respond. She didn’t know that. She has always assumed that he didn’t pick up when she was around, so she can let loose a little without having to worry about Theo too much, knowing that Nico has her back. She has always assumed that he hooked up on the road. And she doesn’t know what to do with this information.
Luckily, she doesn’t need to, as a loud thump makes her jump.
Theo’s banging on the glass in front of her with the biggest grin on his face. Nico leans against the glass a few feet over, beaming at him.
“Hi, mama!” he yells, “Nicki’s teaching me how to use my edges better when I skate backward. See?”
He grins so wide before he puts his hands in front of him, tongue poking out of the side of his mouth, as he begins to wiggle. Aurora admits she has no idea what she’s looking for, but she smiles and cheers all the same. Her eyes flit over to Nico, and he’s tapping his stick; she recognizes the proud look on his face.
She looks away quickly, only to catch Theo losing an edge and falling to the ice. It makes her breath catch every time. Nico raps his knuckles on the glass twice before skating over to check on him. By the time he gets there, Theo’s already back on his feet, doing little hops.
She watches as Nico bends down to talk with him. They skate another lap before heading towards the exit together. She watches as Theo hops up onto the bench, and Nico kneels down to unlace his skates for him. She doesn’t know what they are chatting about, but Theo’s being especially animated.
Aurora is startled when she hears Jesper behind her; she has forgotten Nicole’s there.
“You ready to go, älskling?” he says, bending down to give her a kiss before sending Aurora a smile. “Hi, Rory.”
“Yep!” Nicole stands up, her hands sliding easily into his. She smiles at Aurora. “See ya later, yeah? Think about what I said?”
“No,” she laughs, sticking her tongue out like her son does, “Bye, you blond assholes.”
She watches Nico and Theo go down the tunnel together. Theo’s holding Nico’s hand despite telling her that holding hers was embarrassing; she tries not to be a little hurt by that. She sighs and makes her way over to the locker room.
It doesn’t take long for them to emerge, still sweaty. Theo can’t shower at the rink, so Nico usually also skips the shower so she doesn’t have to wait. Theo chats excitedly on the way to the car. Aurora and Theo had moved into Nico’s apartment building, a few floors down, not long after they had met, so they will carpool occasionally. Those days are always Theo’s favorite.
They hit traffic on the way back, and Theo’s questions and musings gradually fade out until he passes out in the back seat. Nico and Aurora sit in companionable silence for the rest of the drive, both happy to let the kid sleep.
It does mean that Theo is cranky when he is awakened from his nap, refusing to walk and then refusing to let go of Nico to let him shower in his own apartment. She sends him an apologetic look, but he just smiles and shrugs as he carries her son back to their apartment, Theo’s cheek resting on Nico’s shoulder as he blinks at his mom lazily.
She makes dinner as the boys shower, singing and dancing along to a playlist they have been adding to for two years. She feels, more than hears, Nico returning to the kitchen, his hand on her hip, a warm presence at her back, as he watches her stir the creamy chicken pasta. He steals bites off the spatula every now and then, laughing at her mock horror.
Theo has lost all the energy he was filled with only a few hours prior, and it makes dinner a battle. She feels guilty about the way Nico bargains with him to eat the vegetable. She should be able to get Theo to eat his dinner without help, and she knows she absolutely could do it, but it’s nice to have the help.
Besides, Theo wasn’t in the mood to listen to anything she had to say, always looking to Nico for guidance instead. Asking Nico for his bedtime story when the time came for it.
She’s not jealous, anything but. It fills her heart with warmth to see her son so smitten with her best friend. But that doesn’t stop the ache that fills her chest: this could’ve been Theo with his father. He should be getting this with his father. And it’s her fault he isn’t. Every day, Theo grows a little bit more as a person, and while it’s bittersweet, she always wonders if he would be different if he had a dad. If her mistakes are holding him back.
Aurora is startled out of her thoughts when she hears her son’s voice get progressively louder and more upset. She rushed into his room.
“Why not?” Theo whines, his voice wet with tears and his bottom lip trembling.
“Bärli, I—” Nico says, voice wavering and raw. When he turns towards her, he looks white as a sheet, his eyes darting back and forth between Aurora and her son.
“What happened?” she hisses at him as he stands up to give her space on the bed.
“I—I really don’t know. He asked—Never mind, not important right now,” he whispers, nodding at Theo, who is now bawling.
She rushes to her son’s side and pulls him into her arms, shushing him. She presses soft kisses to his forehead and just holds him until his sobbing subsides. Eventually, he tires himself out enough, hiccuping occasionally as his eyes drift close and his body grows heavy. Once she’s sure he’s asleep, she slips out of the room.
Nico is leaning against the wall in the hallway, worrying at his lip. His head snaps up as soon as he hears her exit the room. She pulls him out of the hallway and into the kitchen, the furthest place from her son’s bedroom.
“What the fuck happened in there?” she whispers.
Nico presses the palms of his hands to his eyes. “He asked me—Fuck—He asked me if I was his dad. Obviously, I said no. And then he got really upset, and I don’t know why. I have no idea what happened.”
“What do you mean he asked—How did that even come up?”
“I don’t know,” Nico sighs, finally looking at her. His brows are pinched tight, dark strands of hair falling like a curtain around wet eyes. “He was saying something about the kids at school all having dads. And then he asked me if I had a dad. And then he just asked me, ‘Are you my dad?’ And then he kept asking me why not. Like, ‘Why don’t you wanna be my dad?’ What the fuck am I supposed to say to that, Aurora?” His voice breaking at the end.
She feels the claws of panic dig into her chest, sharp pain in her sternum as her head spins. Technically, it’s not the first time he’s asked that. He used to ask about ‘dads’ a lot when he was a toddler; before he really understood what the word ‘dad’ meant. He hadn’t brought it up in years so she had assumed he was over it.
“Fuck,” she breathes.
“Rory, stop. Don’t apologize.” He pauses and takes a deep breath. He runs his fingers through his beard, a nervous tick she has seen enough times to set her on edge. “When are you going to tell him, Aurora? He deserves to know.”
She clenches her jaw. This is not the first time they’ve talked about this.
“We’ve talked about this, Nico,” she says.
“I know we have, but you’re being selfish, Rory. You should’ve seen his face. He thinks no one wants him.”
Aurora’s heart clenches, the panic spreading through her whole body. She feels the sweat prickling at her back, her neck, her forehead; it makes her itchy all over.
Nico is still talking. “He doesn’t understand why everyone else he knows has two parents, and he doesn’t. He thinks I don’t want him. And I can’t—”
“You can’t what, Nico? Because you don’t have to do anything. You’re right. He’s not your son. What I do or do not tell him is none of your business. You can think I’m selfish, you can think I’m a bad mother, you can think whatever you like. It was none of your business then. It’s none of your business now. It won’t be your business ever,” Aurora hisses, her chest heaving as she rants.
The silence hangs between them, thick and stifling.
“I don’t think I can keep doing this,” Nico says, voice so small and so raw.
And if she felt hot before, she doesn’t anymore; the words feel ice cold in her ears. She’s plunged into freezing water, falling through pristine ice into a frozen lake. Her fingers feel numb where the nails dig into her palms.
“Can’t keep doing what, Nico?” her voice sounds foreign even to her own ears.
He doesn’t answer.
“Can’t keep doing what?” she says, louder, “because I didn’t ask you to do anything, be anything. Don’t worry; you’re under no obligation to be anything to him. So, if you can’t put up with this anymore, then just leave. I won’t be upset. I won’t be anything at all. Because you’re right, you—”
“Schätzli, stop,” he interrupts firmly, “that’s not what I said.” He reaches for her, but she shrugs him off.
“Maybe. Maybe not. But I heard what you meant. I’m fucking up his life, right? Fucked up my own, practically was a teen mom. But that’s not enough. I’m not enough for him.” She doesn’t even register the tears streaming down her face.
“Schätzli—Aurora, please. You know that’s not what I meant,” Nico says, and he might be crying too. His hand keeps coming up, reaching for her, before going back to hanging limply by his side.
“You don’t get to tell me how to parent my son, Nico. You don’t get to tell me that I’m fucking it up.” The words spill out of her mouth, and she has no control over it anymore. Through the tears, she can’t even see his face anymore, can’t see the heartbreak in those brown eyes she loves so much. “You don’t get to say this shit, Nico. Because you’re not his dad. You’re not his anything.”
She hears what may be a sob, but she can’t tell if it’s coming from her own mouth.
“Schätzli,” he whispers, “You don’t mean that.”
“It’s the truth, isn’t it?” she says, wiping her eyes.
“Aurora, please, come on. You know that’s not true. You can’t say that after the past—” He takes a breath. “I know this is hard for you. But I’m trying to be here for you. To be what you need.”
“What are you trying to say,” she whispers.
“You have to know I would be anything you asked me to be. You can’t possibly not know that by now.”
“I’ve never asked you to be anything. To me. Or to him. And if you can’t understand that we don’t need anything from you, then you should just leave,” she says through clenched teeth.
“Schätzli,” he pleads.
“Please just—just go.”
“Aurora, I want to be there for you. Both of you. I love Theo. I love—”
“Don’t,” she warns.
Nico sighs. “It’s always been fine that you don’t want me like that. I don’t care about that. It’s fine. But this… This makes me feel kinda fucking used, Aurora. This makes me feel like you think I’m nothing to you. No one. And that’s—Fuck—You need to decide what you want.”
“I’m asking you to leave,” she says through gritted teeth.
“Okay. Fine, I hear you. God, I’m so—” He stops himself, tipping his head back to stare at the ceiling for a moment before continuing, “Fuck. Yeah. Okay. I’ll go. I’m leaving.”
Aurora doesn’t respond; she just keeps looking at the floor until he finally sighs and walks out of her apartment. When the door clicks shut, she slides down the wall and sobs into her hands.

III. THE FUTURE
The next few days pass excruciatingly slowly. It’s the longest Nico and Aurora have gone without talking in the two years they’ve known each other. He opens the text thread with Aurora countless times: typing and deleting, typing and deleting, before giving up. Every time he steps into the apartment building’s elevator, he stares at the button for her floor, but he never presses it.
Nico finds himself checking his phone so often that the boys have begun to notice and chirp him for it. He has never had a problem with focus before, always pouring himself into hockey when things go awry. It’s usually the one thing that keeps him centered, but for the past few days, it always feels as if his skates are too tight, the edges too dull, or his stick too short.
It all grinds to a halt when he sees the missed calls, voicemails, and texts from Aurora after an unsuccessful pre-game nap.
Tumblr media
It’s Saturday, and Aurora’s exhausted. She can’t remember the last time a week has gone so poorly. For the past few days, it’s felt like everything in her life has been moved one foot to the left: out of place and disorienting. She has been lying awake at night thinking about Nico, playing their conversation over and over again in her head, pouring over the past two years. Every morning, she wakes up feeling more tired than the day before.
Theo’s not been much better. He has been grumpy and whiny. It seems like nothing she does can cheer him up. He asks her at least ten times a day about Nico: where he has been, what he is up to, if we can call him, and when we will see him next. It has been tearing her up inside that she doesn’t have an answer for Theo.
She has only known Nico for two years, and, between away games and the summers, it’s not like they are together every day. She shouldn’t feel his absence so acutely, but she does. She finds herself looking at the empty chair at her dining table and his empty spot on the couch; she feels the ghost of Nico so acutely. It hurts like a phantom limb, a gaping hole in her life, and she doesn’t know what to do about it.
Aurora thinks she’s holding it together until she isn’t.
Tumblr media
When it happens, she doesn’t think anything of it. It’s hockey. She’s seen Theo fall during hockey countless times. It looks like any other fall until Theo starts crying, still lying on the ice, clutching his hand. And it’s as if the entire universe focuses in on that one point.
She doesn’t remember getting up from her seat and running down to the bench. She doesn’t remember the conversation with the U8 coach. She doesn’t remember the walk to the car, clutching him so tightly to her chest, despite the fact that he is far too heavy for her to carry now.
She’s trying to calm herself down enough to drive to the hospital, head on the steering wheel, gasping for air, when she hears her son speak up.
“Mama,” Theo says, voice wet and wavering.
“Yes, baby?” she manages to respond.
“Mama, it’s okay. I’m going to be okay. Nico always tells me, when I’m sad or hurt, to take deep breaths. I think you might need to take some deep breaths, Mama,” he says between quiet sobs.
It makes her chest feel cracked open and raw; it takes everything in her body to tamp down the sob that threatens to spill out.
“When did you get so grown up?” she says, her voice sounding thin and reedy.
“Mama, I’m 7. Nico says I’m a big boy now.”
Aurora swallows around the tightness in her throat and tries to take three deep breaths before starting the drive to the hospital.
The panic only subsides long enough to get them to the hospital. By the time they receive the X-ray results, she can hardly process what they are saying. The words “broken arm” and “no surgery” ring loudly in her ears.
Somewhere in her consciousness, she knows she calls Nico. She knows it’s a game day, knows his routine. But some part of her hoped hearing his voice would make things alright, even just a little bit. She calls a few times, pushing down the disappointment when he doesn't answer. It’s a game day. She knows the routine.
She is sitting in the waiting room, staring at her hands clutched tightly in her lap, when she hears Nico’s voice call her name.
She blinks and feels a pair of warm hands envelop hers.
“Hey,” Nico says, kneeling in front of her. “Hey, Schätzli, it’s okay. You’re okay. I got you.”
She deflates like a balloon, tilting forward to tuck her face in his neck as sobs wrack her body. His solid arms envelop her, hands rubbing her back. He keeps murmuring in her ear, a combination of English and Swiss German. She has no idea how long they stay like that, but eventually, she feels the terror and panic begin to subside.
“Nico,” she says softly, “what are you doing here?”
“You called,” he says as if it was the simplest thing in the world. He squeezes her hands.
“Oh god, Nico. Don’t you have a game? What are you doing here? You shouldn’t—”
“Rory, it’s okay. I called out. I told Coach that an emergency came up. I wanted to make sure I was here for you if you needed it.”
“You’re skipping the game? For us?” She swallows down a sob. "For me?”
“Yes, Schätzli. Of course, I did.” He reaches a hand up and tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “Is Theo okay?”
“Yeah,” she hiccups, “he’ll be okay. He broke his arm. And they’re just setting it and putting in a cast to make sure it heals right.”
“I’m so sorry, Schätzli.”
His hand cradles her face gently, wiping at the tears as they fall. There is a long stretch of silence as she leans into his hand.
“How did you get in here? This is the family waiting room,” she asks.
Nico blushes and turns away, mumbling something.
“Sorry, what?”
“I told them I was his dad,” Nico mumbles, rambling, “I didn’t mean to—It’s just, they weren’t letting me in. They said it was family only. So I had to tell them that. I’m sorry; I totally overstepped. I didn’t mean to. I get it if you’re mad—”
Aurora reaches out a finger and presses it to his lips. He stops abruptly, eyes wide.
“It’s okay, Nico. I’m not upset,” she says. She takes a deep breath, and with sudden clarity, she asks, “Is that something you might want to be one day?”
“What?” he squeaks.
“Theo’s dad.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, God, I hope I’m not reading this wrong. But—Well, earlier this week, you said I needed to decide what I wanted. And I just kept thinking about that conversation and how unfair I was to you—to us—by totally underplaying the past two years. ‘Cause they’ve been two of the best years.
“Theo loves you. I love you. You are the second most important person in my life, and I’m sorry it took this mess of a week to realize that,” she sighs. “I don’t know what I’ve been so afraid of. Or what I was waiting for. But it’s so clear to me now that you have been there the whole time. You never asked or expected anything of me. And maybe I was taking advantage of that while hiding behind my past.
“I know I can raise Theo alone; I know I can do it. But I don’t want to do it alone anymore. I don’t want to do it alone if I could have you by my side instead. And, oh God,” she says, her eyes darting frantically across his face, “I really hope I’m not misreading things. Nicole keeps saying that you—I feel like I’m being—”
In an instant, his lips are on hers, warm and soft and insistent. She closes her eyes and lets herself melt into his embrace. The kiss is chaste, but it feels like everything finally snaps back into place.
“God, Aurora. Schätzli. I would be whoever you want me to be. Whatever you’re ready for. I’ll be here. I’ve known that since the first time we met, Liebling.”
“God, Nico,” she says breathily, “I want everything.”
“Okay,” he smiles, “Everything it is. We can take it as slow as you’d like.”
“Haven’t we wasted enough time?”
He laughs, dimples appearing on his cheeks. “Fuck, I love you, Aurora.”
“I love you too, Nico,” she smiles.
They share a few chaste kisses. And they wait, Aurora wrapped in his steadying embrace, until the doctor finally comes to tell them that Theo is in a recovery room and is doing great.
When they walk into the room together, Theo immediately spots Nico and his eyes light up.
“Nico! You’re here!” he yells.
“Yeah, of course I am,” Nico says warmly, walking across the room to pull Theo into a tight hug.
“Where have you been? I’ve missed you.”
“Yeah, Bärli. I’m sorry.” He runs his fingers through Theo’s messy hair and smiles. “I’m here now. And I promise, I’m not going anywhere.”
He looks up, eyes meeting Aurora’s, and he smiles. And she never doubts for a second that he means it.

Is it just me or do I feel like iv would use his jacket to mark the girl he liked. Back off cunts she’s taken sort of vibes. Maybe you could write something along those lines?
I think about this a lot myself, so I definitely understand you and genuinely agree. Also III is being a bestie in this one.
His mark
It started so innocently. The whole band was hanging behind the stage after the concert. The conversation was light with people reaching in to nibble on some food and drinks. Your stage outfit, as nice as it was to jump around on stage while the huge lights shined on your body, now that you were in the dim of the back rooms did little to keep you warm. And you so could have just excused yourself from the conversation with the girls, knowing full well that they wouldn’t mind holding the conversation off for a couple of minutes but you just didn’t want to somehow break the atmosphere.
That’s when you felt it. The weight pressing on your shoulders. The heat instantly radiated from the leather that was being so casually draped over your body. Crocking your head to the side you saw none other than IV. But you didn’t even have to look. The smell of him, so familiar and at this point engraved into your brain gave him away. “Could hear your teeth clacking together from across the room, it’s so annoying”, he grunted, clearly trying to seem more annoyed than he was. “My apologies and you shouldn’t have tasked yourself with coming to my rescue”, you sassed back, slipping your arms through the sleeves. “Sometimes my kindness surprises even me”, IV shrugged, leaning equipment boxes. “We will grab some more food”, the girls chirped, making you snap your head back at them, completely forgetting that they were there in the first place.
“Is it bad that I secretly fantasized about wearing this?”, you asked so out of the blue that you were almost convinced that you heard IV choke on his drink, “This is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long while”. IV stayed silent for a moment before that shit-eating grin spread across his face, “See, depends on what these fantasies entail”, he muttered, clearly delighted with himself. Now it was you who gasped, pushing his chest slightly as you both giggled away.
The next time it happened was in the middle of the show. The open stage, as nice as it was for some parts of the summer, wasn’t all that friendly when the summer rains split the skies. While the first two songs in soaked clothes were kind of refreshing. Rain alsp brought a lower temperature, slowly settling the tremble into your hands. That’s when a familiar figure sauntered closer but you didn’t give it much thought. IV often found himself close to you and the girls. It was his nature, well all of theirs. That’s until IV pulled his guitar off, setting it down and shrugging out of his jacket.
With your eyes already glued on him, you watched him lifting the jacket closer to you. All you could do was shake your head, “Are you insane?”, you mouthed. It was one thing doing stuff like that around the people in the team. A whole different story when fans were involved. “Put it on or I will put it on you”, IV stated flatly. Throwing the jacket up.
The logic within you told you to ignore it. Let it drop. But you couldn’t. It was way too precious. Someone had spent hours making it and it was also his. But just because it was in your hands didn’t mean you had to put it on. You could just hold it for him. Well, wrong. Cause IV dared to cross his arms over his chest as he watched you, and knowing his stubborn ass he would stand there till you did what he had told you to. With an excessive eye roll, you threw the jacket over your shoulder, pushing some of the wet strands away and clinging to your face. “Happy?”, you mouthed, but IV only winked at you before returning to the front of the stage.
And more often than not this had turned into a norm. Going to the bus? His jacket is on your body. Right before the show while the jitters are insane? His jacket. Walking through the backstages while preparing? Band meetings? Rehearsals? The list could go on and on. But since it brought you the same sense of comfort you never voiced it out loud. Too afraid that if you pointed it out he would turn the other way and run for the hills.
“So, where’s your guard dog?”, III's voice snapped you out of your thoughts. Smiling you rolled your eyes, pushing a pack of goldfish towards him. “Maybe guarding someone else”, you shrugged, making III snort, “Nice try, I bet all of his security alarms are ringing off right this minute”. You frowned slightly at his words. “Oh come on, tell me that you don’t see a pattern?”, III tilted his head to the side in disbelief. “He’s just been sweet”, you muttered, “Plus, I had told him that I have frog hands and feet. I’m constantly cold”.
III just shook his head, “We all know that but do you see me running after you with a blanket?”. You huffed, letting your mouth drop, “Is this your way of telling me that secretly hate me”, you gave him the best version of puppy dog eyes. “Girl, I held your hair back while you threw up a bottle of tequila, I don’t do that for people I don’t care about”, he pointed out. You leaned in, warping your arms around his lean body, “And that is why I like you”, you muttered again his chest.
Someone cleared their throat and you instantly pulled back. Not far from you two stood IV. The fire in his eyes burning out of control. You expect III to pull back but instead, he casually slung his arm over your shoulders. “In need of a hug too?”, he teased, IV eyes burning holes in his bandmate's face. “Just wondering why you needed one”, IV said through gritted teeth. “Oh, come on, I hug you all good morning and goodnight, don’t start playing favorites”, you slapped III on his chest, pulling out of his hands.
IV equally didn’t waste any time stepping closer to you. And as if it had become your secret skin, the jacket pressed down onto your shoulders. III let out a laugh, shaking his head, “Loud and clear mate, loud and clear”, he saluted before turning back. “Why are you in a pissy mood?”, you crossed your arms over your chest, turning to face IV. His eyes are still on III. “I don’t like when people mess with what’s mine”, he muttered, snatching all air out of your lungs. “What is that supposed to mean”, you muttered, letting him pull you closer to him. “Don’t worry your head about it for now”, IV leaned in pressing a kiss to your temple.

˗ˋ you knew that I’m a mastermind, and now you’re mine! ˊ˗
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
warnings: annabeth is a punk, this might seem rushed, intense kissing at the end
pairing: jason grace x mastermind! daughter of athena
summary: a certain blond boy finds your journal in his cabin
A/N: I forgot who requested this… but to whoever it was: I hope you like it!
Tumblr media
you knew the first night you saw jason grace that you were going to make him yours
and when you got back to your cabin that same night you hurried to create a master plan
it wasn’t like you were obsessed with him in that “if I can’t have him then I might die” way, but you truly did want to be with him, and with your wisdom you knew you could make it happen
so for the next year you came up with brilliant plans to get closer to him and become his friend
and now you’re best friends
but would you call that progress?
he still wasn’t yours
“y/n, your boyfriends here to see you”
you nearly jump out of your skin, didn’t you tell yourself not to get to caught up in your thoughts?
“annabeth- he’s not my boyfriend” you roll your eyes
yet you think
“anyways he’s been asking to see you for the past 20 minutes, and he won’t give up even though I told him you’re busy” she says frustratedly
“I’m not busy, genius, I’m just journaling” you stand up abruptly, forgetting about your open journal (that exposed your thoughts about a certain son of jupiter)
“well you always ask me not to bother you when you’re journaling, so I left you alone like you asked” she cross her arms
“whatever, I’ll see you later” you run to the door, eager to see your favorite blond boy
“annabeth said you were asking to see me?” you see him standing at the door
“yeah, she said you were busy but I wanted to see if you wanted to sit by the lake” he adjusts his glasses
“of course I do, idiot!” you hit his shoulder and take his hand dragging him with you to your favorite spot at camp
- 🏛️ -
once you said your goodnight to jason you stepped inside your cabin, excited to write about the enjoyful evening you spent with him
but when you got to your bed your journal wasn’t in the same spot you left it
“malcolm did you see me journal?” you ask your half-sibling
“I haven’t been in here all day, sorry” he gives you a half smile
“it’s fine… annabeth?” you turn to your sisters bed
“yes?” she looks up from her book
“have you seen my journal? I left it on my bed when I left earlier” you say
“you mean the same journal that’s sitting in cabin one right now?” she smirks
“what?! what do you mean?” your eyes full with terror
“what I mean is that you left it wide open. I saw what you wrote and I thought that it’s been long enough seeing you guys pine over each other so I thought I’d help out” she flips the page to her book, not once looking up at you
“oh my gods, what is wrong with you?” you hurriedly rush out of cabin six, making your way to cabin one
and when you reach your destination you rapidly knock on the door until it opens
“y/n? are you alright?” jason asks, looking confused as ever
“did you see it?” you ask out of breath
he notices your disheveled state, “why don’t you come inside?” he takes your hand, helping you in before closing the door behind him, “I read some of it… I wasn’t sure who’s it was so I looked to see and all I saw was my name written multiple times throughout the pages, and the more I read the more I realized that it was yours because nobody else is around me as much as you are”
“oh my gods you probably think I’m a creep” you run your free hand through your hair
“I don’t… I really like you y/n/n”
“you don’t think I’m creepy for writing about you?” you ask
“no, I like the way you write me, very poetic- if I didn’t know better I would think you were an apollo kid” he smiles and takes a step closer to you “can I kiss you?”
“please”
he doesn’t waste another second, quickly letting go of your hand to grab you by the waist, pulling you in
you’re sure that any second your knees are going to give out on you, and you feel around for a wall, a door, a desk, a bed, anything to lean against so you don’t collapse to the ground
when jason takes notice of this he leads you over to his bed, his lips not once leaving yours
once you arrive at his bed, you slowly, not wanting to pull away, let your head lay on his pillow, and you wrap your arms around his neck pulling him closer
you’re going to have to thank annabeth for this tomorrow morning

“Do you wanna get married someday?”
It was past midnight and you and Satoru were in your room, lying on your bed, talking about everything and nothing at all. Your head was resting on his bare chest, one of his hands holding you to him by your waist and the other twirling a strand of your hair. It was a quiet moment, the good kind, and you didn’t want it to end.
You lifted your head and looked at him, the moonlight reflecting in his eyes as he peered at you, a relaxed expression painting his features. “You wanna marry me?”
“‘Course,” he said without hesitation. He squeezed your waist and smiled. “What about you? Wanna marry me?”
You tilted your head to the side and hummed, pretending to consider your answer very carefully. “I don’t know,” you told him. “Would you sign a prenup?”
He let out a soft laugh and shook his head, pulling you over to straddle him. “I’d do anything for you,” he told you as he leaned up until your noses touched. “So, what do you say? After graduation?”
You nuzzled your nose against his, hovering over his lying form. “You gotta get a job first,” you said. “How else could you afford a ring?”
“Right, right,” Satoru whispered, his gaze drifting towards your lips. “What kind of ring do you want? Diamond? Sapphire? What about emerald?”
You ran a hand through his hair and placed a kiss on his cheek. “Any ring would do.”
His smile grew wider, his grin all toothy and boyish. “You’re an easy girl to please,” he said as he cupped your cheek. “Hey.”
“Hey,” you said back, smiling now too.
“I really love you, do you know that?”
You scrunched your nose. “I might’ve had an inkling.”
“Just an inkling?” he asked, hands coming to grip your thighs. He clicked his tongue. “Now. that won’t do.”
You laughed. “You’re such a dork,” you told him.
“Well, you love this dork.”
You nodded, letting your lips hover over his, the promise of a kiss just waiting to be fulfilled. “I do,” you told him. “I really do.”

“Aika’s down.”
You look up from the place on the ground where you’ve been stretching. Yuki walks over to the team with a disappointed look on her face, her phone dangling from her hand.
Mai, who’s sitting on the bench beside you, is the first to ask. “What happened, coach?”
Yuki sighs. “Busted her ACL.”
There’s a resounding chorus of winces and “fuck”s. There’s also a silently shared consensus of “thank god it wasn’t me.” It’s selfish, you all know that, but someone else’s injury is always just another bullet dodged for you.
“On the bright side, the doctors say she can make a full recovery,” Yuki tells you. “But that’ll take a while and it’ll leave us with an empty spot in singles.”
“Mika’s coming back, isn’t she?” you ask. “Her exchange program’s ending soon.”
Mai shakes her head. “Not soon enough,” she says. “We have our first real tournament a week after she comes back. She won’t have enough time to train.”
You turn to Yuki. “So what are we gonna do?”
She just grins. “You mean what are you gonna do?”
“What?”
“You’re playing singles.”
“What?”
“You played in high school, right?” Mai asks, prodding you with her foot to get your attention. “You’re probably our best shot right now.”
You let out a nervous laugh as everyone’s eyes fall on you. “I don’t know, guys,” you say. “I mean, you all saw me trip last time. I’ve been off my game.”
But Yuki’s already decided. She shrugs and places her phone in her pocket. “Then we lose,” she says, looking at you sternly, “and it’ll be your fault. So I suggest you bring your A game for the sake of the team.”
You swallow, trying to ignore the eyes that now rest of you, waiting for your oh-so-predictable answer. “Yes, coach.”
She nods and waves everyone off. “Get some rest, everyone,” she says. “You’ll need it.”
Everyone disperses, girls coming to pat you back and wish you luck. You know what they’re all thinking as their hands touch your skin. Thank god it wasn’t me.
“You’re so fucked,” Mai laughs once everyone has gone and you go to gather your things.
You shove her and roll your eyes. “Thanks for really backing me up there, partner,” you tell her, sarcasm dripping through your words. “‘You played in high school, right?’” you say as you attempt to mock her voice. “Such an ass.”
She wraps her arm around your shoulders and presses her head against yours. “You’ll be fine,” she says as she leads you to the locker room. “Besides, it’ll only be one tournament. The new girls are coming after the break too, so we’ll be just fine.”
You groan. “I hate you.”
“Whatever you say, partner.” She chuckles, leading you through the door. “You need a shower. You fucking stink.”
You push her head before sprinting forward. “I call the good shower!”
“Hey! You can’t do that!”
Tumblr media
You sit in your car, engine off, window down as you stare at your phone. As soon as you left the sports complex, you found yourself overcome by a single thought: Sukuna.
The two of you haven’t spoken since you last saw each other. Since you… kissed. Granted, it’s only been a few days, but for the two of you, it feels like a lifetime. You don’t remember the last time you went this long without at least sending him a silly video or receiving a paragraph-long update from him describing a massive shit he’d just taken.
But even as you stare at your chat with him, you can’t bring yourself to send him anything.
You haven’t told anyone about the kiss. Not Maki, not Nobara, not even Kento, no matter how much you wanted to annoy him with random information about your life. For some reason, you can’t seem to let the thought slip through your lips, can’t even vocalize the fact that it happened. And that you don’t know why it’s bothering you so much. And that you don’t know why you’ve been plagued by the desire to have it happen again.
You tuck your phone back into your pocket and shake your head. It’ll work itself out, you think. Things between you and Sukuna always do anyway.
With a sigh, you turn your car on and drive back to your apartment.
As you park your car, you wonder if the elevator in your building—after a good few days of being out of service—has finally been repaired or if you need to climb up the three flights of stairs with your tired legs. The prospect of walking more than a few feet isn’t appealing at all.
You grab your bags from the backseat and get out of your car, following the familiar steps from the parking lot to the elevator.
And that’s when you see him.
You find that you can’t move. You can’t leave, you can’t run, you can’t hide. You just stand there, frozen, in complete and utter shock. How did he even know where to find you?
“Dad?”
The word feels foreign on your tongue, worn out of your vocabulary from disuse.
He stands before you with a smile, holding his arms out in the prospect of an embrace. “Sweetheart,” he says, the pet name passing through his tongue coated in sickly sweet honey. “It’s been too long.”
He leans forward to hug you, but you manage to step back, avoiding his touch. He frowns at that and lowers his arms. “You don’t look happy to see me.”
You cross your arms over your chest. “What are you doing here?”
“I can’t see my daughter now?” he asks, eyes narrowing. “Is that how it is between us?”
Your eyes shift away from him. “What are you doing here?” you ask again, quieter this time.
“I just wanted to see you,” he tells you in the most earnest tone a liar can muster. “And I wanted to tell you the good news.”
You scoff. Not once in your life has your father ever had good news for you. “The good news?”
He clasps his hands together and nods. “You have a baby brother.”
“What?” You gape at him. “What are you talking about?”
“Hisako gave birth,” he tells you happily. “Just a few weeks ago.”
“Hisako,” you repeat slowly, trying to place the name. Your eyes widen in realization. “Oh,” you say softly. “Is she the new one?”
He tuts. “Don’t call her that.”
You’re not quite sure what he expects from you at this point. Your father who, at nine, you learned had been habitually sleeping with women who were not your mother. Your father who, despite his penchant for infidelity, your mother could never quite bring herself to leave. Your father who, just a few months ago, you learned had gotten his most recent mistress pregnant and who decided it was only right to treat the whole thing like it was normal, like it was expected.
As he starts to talk about your new brother, your hand slips to your phone. It’s almost an instinct, pressing his name in your contacts. Second nature, searching for him when things are going wrong.
You don’t even have to look at your phone to know that Sukuna’s already answered your call, that he can hear every single part of this ludicrous conversation you’re having with the man who expects more than you will ever want to give him.
Just as you start to think that things can’t get any worse, your father drops the bomb. The real reason why he’s here in the first place.
“I want you to come home.”
You blink at him. “You want me to do what?”
“Come home,” he tells you. “Your mother can’t stand the baby and Hisako’s not exactly good at the whole child-rearing thing.”
“You want me to come home and leave college to take care of your kid?” you ask in disbelief. The anger hits you before you even realize it. “Do you know how fucking insane you sound?”
Your father doesn’t like that. He doesn’t like it at all. His lips twist into a snarl as he steps closer to you, grabbing your wrist when you try to back up.
“Don’t ever speak to me like that again,” he seethes. “You will come home because I’m telling you to. I have no idea how you got it in your head that you could just leave your family the way you did, but I’ve indulged your childish fantasies for long enough.”
You struggle against him, panic settling in as his grip on you tightens. “Dad—”
“You’re just like your mother, you know?” he says, venom coursing through his words. “Always so fucking stubborn.”
You look down at your wrist as it gets crushed in his hold. “You’re hurting me,” you say. “Please. Stop.”
“So stubborn, so—”
You barely even catch it, the moment that flashes between your father nearly breaking your wrist and him being pushed away. It’s a blur, really. It happens so quickly, so quietly, you have to wonder if it’s even happened at all.
“Respectfully, sir, back the fuck off.”
You look at the man standing in front of you, his back a sight you might even know better than that of your own hand.
“Leave,” Sukuna spits out before your father can even say a word. Even turned away from you, he keeps a protective hand on your shoulder. He squeezes as if to say, It’s okay. I got this.
Your father glares. “You,” he says. “You’re the brat who ruined my daughter. She was so good before she met you. Now she’s fucked in the head.”
“Is that why she’s been doing so great without you?” Sukuna shoots back. You can tell through his voice that he’s holding back. Your best friend’s never been one to shy away from violence, he’s only restraining himself for your sake. You may not love the man, but he is still your father, and Sukuna knows that means something to you.
“Leave,” Sukuna tells your father. “I won’t say it again.”
Your father snickers, looking past Sukuna at you. “I always figured you’d never survive on your own,” he says. “Just like your mother.”
“Sir, if you don’t fucking—”
“I’m leaving, brat,” your father tells your friend, backing up. “You can fucking have her.”
It’s quiet for a moment, the only sounds you can hear are your father’s footsteps retreating, disappearing. You and Sukuna stay in your places, motionless until the footsteps fade away completely.
You sniffle once and Sukuna is already turning and holding you to his chest, shushing you as you wipe tears from your eyes.
“It’s okay,” he whispers, pressing a kiss to the crown of your head. “Can I see your wrist?”
Carefully, you lift your arm and his hands come to cradle yours as he studies your skin, grimaces at the light bruises that are starting to form in the spot that your father held.
“Did he do anything else?” he asks gently.
You shake your head. “I’m sorry for calling you.”
“What? Fuck no.” He places a finger beneath your chin and guides you to look at him. “Don’t ever apologize for that. None of this is your fault.”
“I shouldn’t have left,” you tell him. “I should’ve stayed with my mom. She has to live with that asshole every day of her life.”
His eyes soften at that. Always putting everyone else before you. “She’s okay,” he says. “And you tried to get her to leave. She was the one who wouldn’t listen.”
He can tell from the look on your face that his answer doesn’t sate you, isn’t exactly what you wanted to hear, but he can also tell that you know it’s the truth. You can’t save someone who doesn’t want to be saved. You learned that lesson long ago.
“I’m sorry,” you say again and you already know Sukuna’s about to scold you for it, so you press a finger to his lips before he does. “For avoiding you these past few days. I wasn’t being fair.”
He cracks a smile and behind your finger says, “I was avoiding you too. I’m sorry.”
You pull your finger away and bury your face in his chest for a moment, breathing in the scent of his detergent, the brand you helped him pick out in freshman year that he’s used ever since. “You wanna come upstairs?”
“I wasn’t gonna leave you even if you asked,” he says, eyes crinkling as he grins.

Going Dark
COD Gangster AU
Navigation
Kate had met with her friend, Charlotte at the gathering. Her hope was to exchange what information she could with her while having another ear close by.
When Makarov gave his speech she’d gotten a text from Price.
“141 going Dark.”
Kate didn’t have time to try and help Farah, and there was too much risk in doing so. At least Alex had tried. Her main priority was you and getting you to safety. As soon as Charly noticed the text she left to get the car.
You sat in the backseat furiously texting Kyle and Johnny, praying for a response. You keep trying to refresh the messages, seeing how long it’s been since sending them.
“Ya alright back there love?” Charlotte asks from the front seat. Laswell is staring out the window, lost in thought in between text messages. You look up from your phone, and meet Charlotte’s eyes in the rear view mirror. You nod.
“Y-yeah. Fine.” You say, finally setting your phone screen down. Then you pick it up again and text Graves.
“What happened?! What did you do?!”
He texts back right away.
“Exactly as you told me to. We got em kid.”
You try to ask him what he means but your text won’t go through. He’s blocked your number.
Charlotte pulled into a parking lot and exits the vehicle with Laswell. While Laswell made her way to the old hotel building Charlotte opened the door for you, offering a hand. After everything you welcome the comfort of physical touch. Charlotte escorts you inside and you make your way up a few flights until you reach the honeymoon suite. Laswell knocks on the door.
“Watcher-1.” Laswell says, and the door opens. You go in with them and looks around eyes wide.
Alejandro is pacing, bruises blotting his face and arms. Simon is helping Rudy who is laying on ratty couch, getting makeshift stitches. Kyle and Soap are bandaging themselves, with a nasty wound on Soap’s arm and Kyle’s arm caked in blood. Price closes the door behind you.
“You said Graves would help.” He comments before anyone can say anything else. You go very very quiet. Price is staring you down. His face is blank but one word will change that. You don’t know what to say to him. Graves had fucked them over but surely something else was going on.
“I dont know what happened.” You say quickly.
Price shakes his head and steps further into the room while all you can do is stand there, frozen in place. You shouldn’t have told Graves, you shouldn’t have tried to help. Price doesn’t say anything and yet it feels like he’s saying everything. You just want it out.
“I don’t know what happened!” You repeat turning to look at Price.
“You told Graves. That’s what happened! Graves is not your father, he can’t do what he did!” Price tells you. Laswell tries stepping in and he raises a finger to stop her.
“No. Don’t defend them. They messed up, they take the fall.”
“I was trying to help!” You argue. “That’s all I’ve been doing!”
“You took a risk that was never your decision.”
“I got the cops involved so that something could actually be done, people could be put behind bars!”
“You’re not your father!” Price shouts. The entire room goes silent. You don’t have anything to say to that. The others don’t say anything either. No one defends you. No one argues with Price.
Then you notice red and blue lights. Your eyes widen. How could this get any worse? Graves was about to show you. Price looks at Kate and Charlotte who leave the room. The last thing Price wants is for the two of them to get into shit and lose their positions as high as they are. Alejandro curses in Spanish seeing the place is surrounded. There was no way out, but the cops weren’t looking for Charlotte and Laswell.
“Go with them.” Price orders you.
“I’m staying.” You say. You look at Soap and Gaz who look away to finish up their bandages. You know you’ve screwed up. Time to pay the price. Except you pay for it in a whole new way.
Graves opens the door and sees you. He looks relieved.
“Officer l/n. Well done.” He says approvingly. “You’re all under arrest.”
“Graves what the fuck?!” Soap barks, getting to his feet. You see more cops shuffling in behind Graves. You get between Graves and Soap.
“Soap leave it!” You tell him.
“You have some nerve Graves.” Price says.
Alejandro says something in Spanish again, as an officer approaches each one of your friends. Simon doesn’t put up a fight. He knows there’s risk in fighting back when they’re all injured, and while they had weapons, there didn’t need to be more blood shed.
“You did really good kid. Your dad would be proud.” Graves said patting you on the shoulder, raising his voice a little so everyone in the room can hear.
“What?” You ask.
“Seriously I don’t think even your dad could pull an undercover case like so well. Impressive.” Graves continues.
Soap looks at you with a look of anger and betrayal.
“You little shit.” Johnny says, looking you dead in the eyes. No. There was no way. What the fuck. You don’t know what to say. Before Johnny can do anything, he’s pinned to the closest wall and put in handcuffs. Kyle raises his hands, and Rudolfo is helped up. Alejandro is ignoring the Miranda rights and continuing to tell them off in Spanish. All you can do is stand there with Graves gently nudging you around so everyone can be escorted out. You stare at the ground unable to face anyone. You don’t know how to feel. You’re upset your friends are being arrested, you’re worried about what will happen to them, you’re pissed at Graves for what ever shit he was pulling, and… you were scared. Once everyone is outside, it’s just you and Graves.
He shuts the door instructing his officers to wait downstairs.
“What the fuck.” You say turning and facing him. Graves looks back at you with a stern expression.
“You did it kid good job.” He says.
“I didn’t do shit! You! This was all you!” You shout.
“Listen to m-“
“No! I’m done. I resigned! I left the force because I finally found something worth doing and the one second I trust you, you turn around a pull this shit!”
“I am trying to hel-“
“No! No you didn’t. If anything you’ve done the exact opposite of what I wanted. I’m not a cop, and I’m not my father! You fucked up and now you’ve pinned it on me.” You say and you leave the room slamming the door closed.
Once you get outside you catch sight of Price before the door is closed on him. It’s a look that haunts you, and is unreadable. A couple of officers come over to congratulate you on an excellent con. You shove past them and leave the scene. You don’t want to be there anymore. You just want to go home. Except you can’t go home. Your home just got piled into cars and taken to the police station.
So you return to your old apartment. You sit on the couch after getting yourself a beer. You don’t know what to do now. You’re pissed off and afraid. But you know there isn’t much you can do.
“You’re not your father.” Those words sting all night.
Graves returns to the police station where he sees a pleased Makarov. He gives a smug look to Makarov striding over to stand next to him.
“Officer Graves. Well done.” Makarov says with praise.
“Wish I could take the glory, but not me.” Graves says watching the 141 be taken to the holding cells. Makarov glances at Graves.
“Unfortunately we lost a few good officers thanks to undercover work… but I don’t think I need to tell you that.” Graves says giving Makarov a friendly nudge, before checking his watch.
“I better get going. I haven’t eaten anything all night, need to run a couple errands.”
“Who is responsible for bringing them in?” Makarov asks.
“Heh, believe it or not, the officer who resigned. Kid can do a long con.” Graves says, before leaving the station. Makarov looks toward the holding cells. A bit of time and it would hardly be an issue. This kid would certainly be an issue, but something to worry about later.

Give Him A Chance (Hannibal)
Tumblr media
Description: Alana wants Hannibal and Y/N together but Y/N isn’t fond of him.
Word Count: 1,126k
Request:
Hi,
could I request a Hannibal fanfic, where Alana or Beverly are the readers best friend and they trie to set her up with Hannibal, even though she dislikes him? Hannibal also takes an interest in her, bit she keeps refusing. After multiple tries and a lot of convincing from Alana/Beverly,she finally gives in and starts dating him. (Maybe it get‘s steamy in the end with smut?)
“No, are you kidding me? Why the hell would I go out with him?” Y/N asked her best friend. She chuckled and shrugged, “You guys would be so cute together.” Alana tells her as they walk to work. Truth be told Alana knew that Hannibal had a thing for her best friend and wanted to make it work. But Y/N was stubborn and didn’t like Hannibal. “Will is right ya know?” Y/N said to her as they walked into the building. Alana rolled her eyes and nudged her. “Yeah whatever.” Hannibal waited for Y/N with flowers like Alana told him too. He’s been wanting to ask her out for awhile but with Alana’s help he would actually do it.
Alana waved at Hannibal and Y/N glared but wondered who the flowers were for. “These are for you.” He said, giving Y/N the flowers. They were her favorite kind of flowers. She looked at Alana who refused to make eye contact with her. “Thanks.” She said but not truly grateful for the gesture. “So I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me?” He asked her. Her face kept the blank stare that she had when she saw him. “Uh no thanks.” She said and walked away before anything else could be said. Alana’s jaw dropped and Hannibal’s eyebrows raised. “Wow.” He said and Alana laughed awkwardly. “She uh she’s just shy.” She lied to Hannibal. She felt bad for the guy but she promised him that Y/N didn’t hate him. Y/N walked with the flowers to her office and sat them down. She stared at them for a few minutes but shook her head and got back to work.
As Y/N was leaving she saw Alana storming up to her. “Girl what the fuck?” Y/N looked at her confused. “You were supposed to say yes.” She exclaimed. “No I wasn’t.” Y/N told her. “Why won’t you?” “I don’t like him, especially like that.” She told Alana. Alana sighed and Y/N turned to her. “Why do you care so much?” “Cuz I know deep down inside you have some feelings for him that aren’t hate.” Y/N shook head. “You sound ridiculous.” Hannibal happened to be leaving at the same time they were and Alana saw him.
She called his name causing Y/N to roll her eyes. He looked back at the two girls and smiled. Alana took Y/N’s hand and ran up to him. Y/N protested but it was ignored as the reached him. “Y/N I am very sorry that I did that earlier. I was not aware that you had ill feelings towards me.” He said. “It’s okay. I never was going to tell you to your face.” She shrugged. Alana looked at her in shock and Hannibal laughed. “Y/N that is so mean.” Alana told her. Y/N looked at her, “You want me to lie?” “You don’t have to say that.”
“It is quite alright. I just am very sorry for whatever I did to make you feel that way.” Y/N looked at him, “If you don’t know what you did why are you apologizing?” Alana rolled her eyes. “Well I had to have done something to offend you.” He said. “Are you saying that you are a likeable person until you offend somebody?” She thought he was being egotistical. “How do you know that I just don’t like you for you?” She asked. He stared at her amused by her choosing of words. “I guess I don’t.” He said, ending the conversation.
Alana was annoyed to say the least. She knew deep down inside that Y/N didn’t truly hate Hannibal like she says she does. She needed to fix whatever it was going on between them. So she needed to do the cliche lock them in a room together. “Hannibal.” She called to the man. He turned towards her and smiled. “Hello Alana.” He greeted. “I need you to grab me something from the supply closet as I am too short.” She said, “Even with the heels.” He joked making her roll her eyes. He followed her to the supply closet and as he entered it she quickly shut the door. “Alana what?” “I’ll be right back.” She tells him and goes to find Y/N.
Y/N was in her office when her friend came running in. “Y/N!” She exclaimed. Y/N looked at her, “yes?” “Come quick.” She said and ran out of the office. Y/N sighed but followed her. They both ran to the supply closet that Hannibal was locked in. “What?” “There’s a spider and I can’t kill it.” Y/N looked at her and sighed. She unlocked the door and opened it just to be pushed in by Alana. “Hey.” Y/N yelled as Alana locked her in the room. “Of course she does this.” Hannibal says startling Y/N. “Alana let me the fuck out!” She yells banging on the door.
“Not until you guys talk.” She yells back. Y/N sighed in defeat. “She’s right though. We really should talk.” Hannibal says. Y/N looks at him, “what would I have to say to you?” She asked him. “Why do you hate me so much?” “Hate is a strong word.” Y/N points out. “Ok why do you dislike me so much?” He asked. Y/N ignored him and looked around for something to pry the door open with. “Y/N?” “I’m looking for something to get us out of here.” He sighed.
“Can you just look at me?” He asked, she looked at him annoyed. “What?” She asked. “Why do you have an issue with me?” He asked. She shook her head and sighed. “Why do you keep asking me out?” She asked. Of course she ignored his question. “Maybe I find you attractive.” He says. She looks at him, “Ok but I have shown that I’m not into you like that.” She said. “It might be the only way we get out of this.” He tells her. She sighed knowing that Alana wouldn’t let them out until Y/N agreed to go on a date with him. “Is that what you want?” She yelled to Alana who was on the other side of the door. “It’s what I want.” Hannibal tells her.
“Fine. I’ll go out with you.” She exclaimed. She heard Alana cheer on the other side of the door but was too distracted by Hannibal’s smirk. “You can let us out now.” Hannibal yelled and the door unlocked. Alana opened it with a smile, “I was honestly hoping you guys would take advantage of this and make out.” Y/N gave her a weird look and walked out of the closet. “We will.” Hannibal says. Y/N looked back at him with a glare but deep down she liked the sound of that.

At this point I literally stalk your tumblr page 🤫
Idk if there are parks in hell 🤷‍♀️ but maybe if Val or Vel took bunny to the park for the day and they take their eyes off of her and she climbs a REALLY tall tree 🐰 then Vox has to put up with that fact that they let her fall and get hurt 😧
-My third time requesting and I literally love how you respond EVERY TIME 🤍🤍🤍
when i tell you i LOVE this idea !!!
also bunny reader imo is a little along with being as sensitive as she is normally and that’s why she’s so babied with everyone, that’s how i interpret her but if you guys wanna interpret her in a different way you definitely can !!!
warnings: none!!!
Don’t Hurt The Bunny
“valentino. let the girl off the fucking leash.” vox told velvette & valentino to be watchful over you when he let them watch you and they decided to take you to the park. valentino took that a bit too serious after he decided to make you put on a backpack leash, velvette was not a fan.
“wan’ go!” you complained as you tried running but the couldn’t due to the backpack leash. “vox is gonna kill us if she gets hurt vel!” she just rolled her eyes before taking the backpack off of you causing you to run over to the park.
“she’s not gonna get hurt piss baby! just let her fucking play!” she smiles as she sees you running back over to them knowing you get upset over fighting. “hi babes.” all you did was give her grabby hands.
“babes, i need you to tell me what you need.” you just sighed and leaned your head against her. valentino, who knew well enough that you didn’t like to voice your wants and that when you start acting like that it means you’re five seconds away from a meltdown, which letting you have a meltdown then vox finding out was something neither of the two needed to be yelled at for.
he immediately grabbed the bag that velvette brought of your things then kneeled down so he was closer to your height. “bun, look at me.” you kept your head against velvette but turned your head so you were facing him.
he pulled out your water bottle and you shook your head, he then pulled out one of the snack bags they brought for you “no!!!” you whined causing valentino to start to panic a bit.
“bun. look inside the bag yourself.” and you did, grabbing your stuffed animal bunny before running back over to the park.
“she’s going to be a handful today.” valentino sighed, he sometimes missed when the two of you didn’t get along. it only happened because valentino cannot deal with you throwing a tantrum. all over the fact you accidentally left your bunny stuffed animal in the limo and he had ran to get it for you.
“hey! piss baby! where’s the bunny?” velvette asked as you had ran out of their line of sight. “oh fuck! we got to find her before voxxy finds out.”
technically you weren’t out of their line of sight. they told you that you couldn’t pass the tree, so when you were pushing your stuffed animal on the swing and it went flying up the tree, you knew you had to climb to go get it.
they ran over and looked for you until valentino got hit in the head with your bunny stuffed animal. “stuffy!” they both looked up to see you at the top of a tree that was taller than velvette & valentino if they were standing on top of each other.
“i told you we needed to keep her on the backpack leash!” valentino sighed as his panic started to set in as he wasn’t planning on getting killed by vox today. “babes! do not move we will figure out how to get you down.”
they were trying to think of a rational plan but you refused to be away from your stuffed animal for any longer. which is why you started to climb down the tree, which was working fine. until it wasn’t.
about halfway down, you had gone to put your foot on a branch that wasn’t actually there and ended up falling, causing you to immediately start crying and velvette and valentino to run over to you.
“hey bun it’s okay it’s okay.” valentino said as he picked you up and put your head into his shoulder to try and keep your crying down. “vox is gonna kill us.” velvette muttered as she picked your stuffed animal up.
“wan’ bubs!” valentino sighed starting to bounce you on his hip to try and get you to calm down. “i know you want voxxy bun but we can’t bring you to him like this.” that just made your crying to get louder.
“idiot! we need to bring her to him now. she could be seriously hurt and you know that she’s not gonna calm down until vox is with her.” velvette shook her head at the moth.
when they got back to the vee tower you were still sobbing, they got you to calm down in the limo on the drive back but it started up again after valentino had tried to move you and had hit one of the cuts you got from falling.
vox had heard your crying from his office and immediately came and ran over to you. “what the fuck did you guys do!” he said to valentino and velvette before taking you out of valentino’s arms.
velvette and valentino remained silent. “princess, talk to me, what’s wrong?” vox said to you but, all you did was put your head against his chest still crying.
vox wasn’t mad at you. if you were ever crying he always took your side knowing you rarely ever cried unless something happened to you. he was more pissed that the two people that were supposed to be watching you weren’t telling him what happened.
he sighed before setting you down, hoping you’d at least point out to him who did it that made you upset but that’s when he noticed all the cuts on your legs.
“let us take her out to the park vox. she’ll love to have fun at the park vox. we will make sure she’s safe vox. and you let her get fucking hurt?!” the rooms lights started to flicker as he started seething.
the lights only went back to normal as he heard you start crying louder due to fear. “i’m sorry princess, can you please tell me what happened?” he picked you up, but didn’t let you rest your head on his chest.
“bun bun wen’ in tree so i go get and then fell.” vox nodded, glaring at his business partners. “where’s her stuffy?” valentino held it up and vox nodded. “good you two follow me, i’m gonna get this one off to sleep and then we need to talk.”
he went to his office and sat down in his chair with you on his lap. “let me see the stuffed animal.” you shook your head at him causing him to let out a chuckle. “i’m sorry princess.” he said softly before turning back to valentino “val. give me the stuffy.” he said sternly still pissed off at him.
vox got the stuffed animal from valentino then handed it to you which you immediately cuddled resting your head on his chest, starting to fall asleep as you usually did after crying.
“you two. what the fuck were you thinking?” he said quiet enough so that it wouldn’t wake you up. “i wanted to put her on a leash but-“
vox sighed at valentino’s excuse. “you two are going to do whatever she wants until every cut and scrape are healed. okay?” the two just nodded, knowing it’s the best punishment they could get after letting you get hurt.

The Lost Sister - Part 29
Synopsis: Xaden is known as an only child due to his sister who 'died' during the Rebellion. Little do they know she didn't die and has been so close this entire time.
Garrick Tavis x OC (Ophelia Riorson)
The Lost Sister Masterlist | Masterlist
Tumblr media
The flight back to Basgiath was long and quiet. Not even Mealladh spoke in my mind as we flew back. I could tell by the look on Xaden’s face as he flew off to my right that something was bothering him. I knew enough to know he was in league with Gryphon riders, but it didn’t mean all of them. Was this a group he knew? Did he know about the attack? Or had he been blindsided? As much as I wanted to reach out in his mind and ask, I felt like he needed the flight back to think things over.
As we descend into the flight field, two figures make their way up from the quadrant. Two figures I instantly recognise as Garrick and Bodhi. Either word of the attack had made it back before us, or Xaden had gotten Sgaeyl to inform their dragons of our arrival back. Judging by their faces and how confused they looked, it was easy to tell they had no idea of the attack and what had happened.
Our squad is quick to make their way out of the flight field after we land. Due to when the attack had happened, we hadn’t gotten any sleep in over a day. We we’re all exhausted and in need of shower, food and bed. Something I had a feeling I would have to wait that little bit longer for as Garrick and Bodhi walk over and join Xaden and I. Bodhi goes to talk but goes silent as Xaden shakes his head and motions for us to follow him out of the flight field. Being so early in the morning and a weekend, the quadrant is empty. No one else to see Xaden lead us up to the tower where I had approached the three boys about what they we’re hiding from me.
”So you going to explain why you disrupted us trying to go to sleep?” Bodhi complains as he leans up against a pillar, rubbings his eyes.
It was very apparent Bodhi and Garrick had not gotten much sleep, if any judging by the flight leathers they still wore. Probably only just getting back a few hours ago from a supply run they had done while we we’re gone.
”Monsteratt was attacked by Gryphon Riders.” Xaden says bluntly as he leans on the ledge, looking out across the quadrant.
Garrick’s eyes instantly snap to me. I’m ok, we got out before they actually attacked. I tell him as I reach out and place a hand on his arm.
His eyes still flicker over me, assessing for an injuries. But after a few seconds he relaxes and nods, content that we had actually made it out without getting involved. His hand reaching out and grabbing mine, pulling me into him as he leans up against the pillar between Bodhi and Xaden.
”I’m going to assume by these two being in flight leathers and your facial expressions on the way back you aren’t invovled with the group that attacked?” I ask Xaden,
His eyes snap to mine. “No we aren’t. And what facial expressions?”
”You get this look when you’re trying to figure something out or somethings bothering you.” I tell him with a shrug.
”I do not.” Xaden’s eyebrows furrowing.
I feel Garrick shake with laughter behind me. “I hate to tell you, but she’s right. You do.”
Xaden narrows his eyes at his best friend before shaking his head and looking back out over the quadrant.
”No one was missing from you’re supply run meet up?” Xaden asks, his question directed at Garrick and Bodhi.
”No, everyone was there.” Garrick informs him.
Bodhi nods his head in agreement. “And before you ask, no they didn’t seem on edge or like something was up. I doubt they had anything to do with this.”
Xaden hums and nods in agreement. But despite the information he’s still tense and on edge. As if he doesn’t fully believe what Bodhi and Garrick have told him.
“So which Gryphon riders are you guys involved with?” I ask them.
Bodhi and Garrick laugh, while Xaden stiffens at my words.
“What’s so funny?” I ask, looking between them all.
“Do you remember Xaden’s betrothed?” Bodhi asks, a smirk on his face.
“Ex-betrothed.” Xaden says gruffly as he narrows his eyes at our cousin.
I roll my eyes at Xaden before nodding at Bodhi.
“We’re in league with her sister Syrena’s drift. It’s not overly big but she’s slowly gathering more drifts and fliers to be on our side when the time comes.” Garrick finishes off, the smirk in his tone evident.
I can’t help but laugh. I hadn’t had much to do with Catriona when I was younger, we hadn’t really gotten along. Something about her never sat quite right with me. As I hadn’t been introduced as Xaden’s sister to her at first, she had been jealous and rude towards me. Saw me as a threat to her future engagement with Xaden. Upon Xaden finally snapping and telling her who I was, she had become embarrassed and even more angry towards me. Garrick had found the situation hilarious. I remember his booming laugh echoing around the room as Xaden had told her who I was.
“I’m assuming by ex-betrothed you called off the engagement? I’m sure she was so pleased with that.” I muse, Xaden’s face hardening at my words as Garrick and Bodhi snicker.
Xaden looks up and meets my eyes, finally laughing and shaking his head. “No she was not. She definitely had some choice words to give me.”
“I can imagine. Can’t wait to see what she says when she finds out about Violet.” I tease.
“What do you mean finds out about Violet?” Xaden’s eyes narrowing at me.
“Well you’ve got mated dragons. Both tied together for the rest of your lives. Cat is going to love that. She’s going to have it out for Violet once she finds out, because I can already tell by your confusion that you haven’t told her. And I think we all remember how she treated me before she knew I was your sister.” I state.
Xaden purses his lips as he slowly nods his head. “Hasn’t exactly come up in conversation and I’d like to keep it that way.”
I walk over and pat Xaden on the shoulder. “I’ll be sure to say some nice words at your funeral.” I tease before walking back down the stairs of the tower for a much needed shower and sleep as Bodhi and Garrick burst into laughter as Xaden grumbles at them.

You know that scene in guardians of the galaxy where he’s showing her music for the first time through headphones and then they slow dance a lil together? Could you do something similar with carol danvers x a reader that’s maybe from another planet and has never heard music before??!
I know exactly what you mean and the answer is yes. I love that scene.
Tumblr media
Sweet Melodies
Carol Danvers x Female Reader
CW: Fluff. Slow dancing.
Summary: After months of Carol telling you about something called ‘Music’, she finally finds something to show you what it is.
Pfffft, where is she? You mumbled to yourself, anxiously pacing the floor of the ship.
Carol had landed you both on a planet called Knowhere, and told you to stay put as she had to go and see a guy about a thing and that she wouldn’t be too long. That was like an hour ago. You began to worry, should you go out and look for her? She said Knowhere was kind of dangerous and that’s why she wanted you to stay in the ship.
Suddenly you heard movement coming from the front of the ship, slowly creeping closer toward you. You grabbed the nearest object to you which happened to be a long looking comb that Carol had brought back from Earth a few months ago, and you held it up, ready to defend yourself against whoever, or whatever, was about to surprise you.
The door to the main room you were standing in started to swing open, you were terrified and your knees felt as though they were about to give out, but you gave it your all and swung the object at your attacker, stopping when a familiar hand came up and grabbed the comb from you.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa..what are you doing??” Relief washed over you at the sight and voice of your lover.
“Carol? Announce yourself when you enter please. I could have killed you!” You said, hunched over in relief that you didn’t actually have to defend yourself.
“With a hairbrush, y/n?” Carol chuckled at you.
“What’s funny?” You didn’t understand the concept of sarcasm very well, so you were unsure if Carol was being serious or not. She just smiled at you, placed a sweet kiss on your cheek and said “Nothing, you’re just cute”.
Carol took your hand and guided you to the middle of the room, that’s when you noticed she had something in her hand. “What’s that?” You said, motioning to the strange looking device she was messing with. It was like a silver box with buttons and a long wire coming out of it.
“I have a surprise for you” She said with excitement. “It’s called a radio”
“A radio? We already have one of those Carol”
Carol continued messing around with the wires of the box and the buttons of the ship wall, until finally you both heard static. “No this is a different kind of radio, it plays music”
“Music?” Your eyes lit up “you’ve been telling me about that!” Your voice laced with laughter and excitement that you were finally about to witness music for the first time. Carol always made it sound so beautiful when she spoke about it. You couldn’t wait to finally hear it.
After fiddling with a few more buttons, you watched as Carol pulled out something that you recognised as a cassette tape. Something else she had brought back from one of her many visits to Earth, which had then initially started the conversation of music, leading her to promise you that one day, she’ll find a way to play it for you.
She put the tape inside the radio, and you listened intently as something started to play. It started quiet at first, it sounded magical and soft and then eventually became louder and more intense but still with the same soft melody. It was beautiful. You understood why Carol liked it so much. Your lover watched you, studying your face and taking in every reaction, every smile and raise of your eyebrows as the melodies filled the room of your shared spaceship. And then it stopped, you looked at her with curiosity and confusion.
“The song is finished” she spoke.
“Oh” you were disappointed to say the least, you could have listened to that all day.
Carol chuckled at you. She does that a lot. “Hey don’t look so sad, I can play it again”. Her fingers pressed a button on the radio box and you heard the music start to play all over again, causing a smile from you again.
“It’s really nice, I like it” you said over the music, a little louder than you intended to.
“Yeah?”
You nodded, and after about half a minute of the song playing again, Carol noticed you were both stood completely still. So she came up with an idea, mostly an excuse to get closer to you, since you were new at this romance and relationship stuff, you were still kind of awkward about it. She thought it was adorable.
“You know, people on Earth dance to this” She took a step closer to you and lifted both her hands up to sit on your waist.
You raised your eyebrows at her “They do?” You had heard about dancing, you’d never attempted it though. “How do they do that?”
Carol snaked her arms further around your waist and pulled you close. “Like this” she whispered, softly rocking you both side to side, her more than you, as you didn’t really know what to do. This made her chuckle again.
She leaned forward to press a soft kiss to your lips, then pulled away and instructed you to put your arms around her shoulders, you did as she said, and it made you feel more comfortable immediately. “Better?” She asked softly. You nodded.
“Good, now just copy what I’m doing. Sway with me.”
It took you a little while, but eventually you got the hang of it. Swaying side to side with Carol perfectly in time with the beautiful sounds coming from the radio. She pulled you closer and you relaxed into her, slowly lowering your head so it was resting against her shoulder. This felt nice. You felt relaxed and comfortable, it was making you feel more deeply for Carol.
After a few minutes the song came to an end once again, but neither of you moved away. You stood there, your head buried in your lovers neck with her softly swaying you back and forth. Without moving a muscle, you spoke up.
“Carol?”
“Mm?”
“Will you take me to Earth one day? I think I would like to experience more of this”.
Without letting go of you, Carol pulled back slightly to look into your eyes, pressing another gentle kiss to your lips.
“I’ll take you anywhere you want to go”.

george daniel + stepdaughter!xcx!reader
warnings: brief yelling, parents fighting, mention of parents leaving, george is a hero
a/n: ty pookie for your request and for always being so supportive of my work. i really appreciate it 🤭
Tumblr media
“Because if you cared, you would learn to understand!”
“I do care! I do understand! You need to understand that I can both understand and miss you and the same fucking time. I can be happy for you and be proud that you’re living your dream, and I miss you so fucking much that it hurts, at the same time.”
“Well I-”
Both their heads turned at the sound of a floorboard creaking. You realized your mistake and your wrong step, but it was already to late. They had already seen you by the time you tried to hide behind the wall.
They both sighed. George was the first to acknowledge your presence. “Come on out, darling.”
They knew you were home. They knew the walls in their London residence weren’t the thickest. They knew you have probably heard them fight or have arguments countless times before. Your Mum told you it was natural - all couples do it. But, the more they ‘argued’ the more concerned you got.
You were young, you couldn’t quite understand it all. Old enough to know and understand that every family is different and people go through different things - your family is a perfect example. Yet, not old enough to realize that one fight a couple had doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the nearly 4 year relationship.
In your eyes, you’ve seen your family get broken up before, and you wouldn’t let it happen again.
You slowly came out from behind, never meeting their gaze.
Charli spoke, voice quiet and gentle, “Baby…what have we said about the eavesdropping-”
“I Know. I’m Sorry…” She nodded. Your eyes still casted down. “I was just seeing if one of you would tuck me in.”
“I’ll be there in a minute.” George quickly said.
You nodded and walked back to your room.
George walked in without saying a word, a gentle smile on his face. He turned the main light off and walked around the room to turn on the fairy and twinkle lights scattered across the bedroom, a routine he grew accustomed to. He met you at your bed and placed a kiss on your head “Comfy?” He asked, whilst rearranging the covers. You nodded. “Good.” He said.
You spoke as he sat and fiddled with your hair.
“Are you and Mum gonna break up?”
He let out a dry laugh before turning back to you. “No.” He said.
You nodded, but didn’t believe him. “Are you sure?”
His heart was about to burst into a million different pieces the moment you looked up at him with the big doe eyes, a feature you inherited from your mother no doubt.
Truthfully, George couldn’t imagine a life without Charli. Or without you.
“Just because we have one fight doesn’t mean I’m leaving her.”
“But it’s not one fight.”
He sighed, loseing a bit a patience. “It’s gonna be fine-”
“Yelling your lungs out at each other doesn’t make things seem fine.”
He could tell you were genuinely worried, and the thought of himself making you feel this way hurt him. He shifted position and looked you right in the eyes. “It’s-”
“Don’t you dare say it’s complicated.” A tear was threatening to spill out. “I’m young, but I’m not dumb.”
George wiped it before it got a chance to spill over. “No, you are not dumb.”
He sat up and motioned for you to scoot over and make room, he sat down and wrapped his arms around you. You fell into him as he did so, too scared to let go. “I’m not leaving. I love your mom too much to do that.” He looked down at you, trying to get you to meet his gaze. “I love you too much to do that.”You fell into him, burrowing your head into his chest. “You understand?”
“I think so.” you said, sound muffled by his shirt.
“Good.”

You stared at the positive pregnancy test in front of you with a frown. You should be happy that you’re having a baby. You should be over the moon since this is what you have always wanted with Bruce. But after the last time, you felt scared now.
“Ummi? Are you okay? You’ve been in there for a while,” you heard Damien call out. You wiped the tears away before opening the door.
“Hey sweetie. I’m alright. What’s wrong?” You asked him.
“You were crying,” Damien pointed out.
“It’s nothing Damien. You hungry?” You asked as you rushed the two of you out of your bedroom.
Damien knew something was wrong but didn’t want to push it with you. He could always push his siblings and his father’s limits but he knew not to push yours. So he summoned a sibling meeting when you were gone with Alfred one time.
“What is it this time?” Jason asked annoyed.
“Ummi is upset and I’m not sure what it is,” Damien told them.
“Did something happen with her and Bruce?” Dick asked him.
“No. She was in the bathroom for a long time though. She came out with some tears on her face,” Damien explained.
“Why was she in the bathroom for a while?” Tim asked.
“Do you think she’s pregnant again?” Cassandra asked.
“Wouldn’t she be happy about it?” Jason pointed out confused.
“Dude. Remember what happened last time she was pregnant?” Duke reminded him.
“Oh. Right,” Jason said sadly.
“What should we do?” Stephanie asked.
“We should let her and Bruce talk first before they come to us. We don’t want to jinx anything and mom probably feels scared and worried about being pregnant again,” Cassandra told them. The rest of the kids nodded in agreement.
When Bruce came back home, he found you curled up in bed wide awake.
“You okay honey?” Bruce asked as he walked over to you.
“I don’t know,” you tell him.
“What’s wrong?” Bruce asked as he sat next to you. You sat up before wrapping your arms around him.
“I’m pregnant,” you said softly. Bruce hugged you back quickly as he pulled you onto your lap.
“Why aren’t you happy?” Bruce asked you.
“Because of what happened last time. What if we lose this one too?” You asked him as you began to tear up.
“Hey now. It’s going to be okay. If it makes you feel better, we’ll set up extra security and do better to keep the villains in Arkham,” Bruce told you.
“I don’t know Bruce. I’m so scared. I don’t want to lose this one too,” you tell him.
“Me neither. But we have each other. And I promise I’ll do anything to keep you and our baby safe.”
Bruce kissed your head before holding you tighter in his arms. He kissed your head once more before lifting your chin up so you could see him. Bruce kissed you gently on the lips before lying down on the bed, pulling you down with him.
“We’re going to be okay,” Bruce assured to you.
You stayed in bed the next day, not wanting to get out. Alfred brought you your breakfast while Bruce and the kids talked downstairs at the table.
“Why isn’t mom with us?” Tim asked.
“Your mom is having some issues right now and needs some time to herself,” Bruce explained.
“What did you do?” Jason asked him.
“I didn’t do anything bad. She just needs a moment to herself without any more worry.”
By dinner time, you were with your family at the dinner table. You sat on your seat as you took in a deep breath.
“I’m pregnant,” you announced out of the blue. Everyone looked at you in shock other than Bruce and Alfred.
“You are?!” Stephanie asked.
“Yes.”
“Which means we need to keep the villains away as long as possible,” Bruce told the kids. The kids agreed.
“Don’t worry mom. We’ll protect you even more this time,” Tim tells you.
“Thank you. But I think I want to be away from Gotham until I have the baby. I want to be somewhere safe and I can’t be safe here,” you explain.
“Bruce, are you okay with this?” Jason asked his adoptive father.
“I support whatever your mother thinks is best for her. Even if it means being away from Gotham.”
“Where would you stay mom?”
“Maybe back to my hometown. It’s much safer than here and it would be nice to be back with some friends and family I had back there,” you explain to them.
“And we can always visit your mother when we can or when she misses us,” Bruce tells the kids.
“So are you going to miss her giving birth?”
“No. I will be with your mother two months before the due date.”
“Is this what you want mom?”
“Yes.”
“Can we stay with you once in a while? For protection?”
“Of course. I’d love the company while I’m away.”
——
It had been nine months since you found out about your pregnancy. Bruce had been by your side for the last two months as he promised. And now, the kids and Alfred were walking up to your room where you had just given birth.
“You ready to lose the bet?” Dick asked Jason as they walked into the hospital.
“I’m not gonna lose,” Jason insisted.
“Uh huh. Sure.”
The moment the Wayne Family walked in, they found you holding your newborn baby in your arms while Bruce was sitting right next to you.
“Hey guys! Come in,” you say softly. Everyone walked into the room more to see the baby.
“How are you feeling Ummi?” Damien asked as he stood next to you.
“Feeling okay now. Everyone, meet the newest Wayne member of the family. Martha Y/m/n Wayne,” you introduced.
“We named her after our mothers,” Bruce tells everyone.
“Pay up,” Jason told Dick who frowned as he gave Jason twenty dollars.
“I have a sister?” Damien asked in shock.
“Yup.”
“I was hoping for a brother but she can still be a good fighter,” Damien said as he stared at his younger sister.
“Alfred, would you like to be the first to hold her?” Bruce asked him.
“I’d be honored to,” Alfred smiled. You handed Martha to Alfred as he held her in his arms.
While everyone took turns holding Martha, you took a quick nap, still feeling exhausted from giving birth. When you woke up, you saw Bruce holding Martha in his arms. He was having skin to skin contact with her as she slept.
“Where is everyone?” You asked.
“Went to grab some food for now.”
“Oh okay.”
“I’m proud of you honey,” Bruce tells you.
“We finally have a baby in the family,” you say with a sigh.
“We finally have a baby. Thank you.”
“For what?”
“For giving me a second chance and for a family.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”

Bittersweet goodbyes had passed as Julia and Giuliano had dropped their two kids off at the airport for their flight headed to Michigan. Sofia had always been an easy flier, motion sickness or fear of turbulence not being something that affected her, but she couldn’t help but be filled with nausea and dread as they departed Toronto and landed in Ann Arbor.
Luca headed back to the sophomore house after dropping Sofia off at her dorm and having received direct instructions to not bring up anything they’d spoken about during New Year's Eve to Rutger. Luca agreed to his sister's orders but on his way over, decided he was by no means going to abide by his promise.
Luca dropped his bags in his room, heading down the hall to Rutger’s room, hoping he had beaten him to Michigan. Luca knocked on the slightly ajar door of Rutger's room, pushing it open as he heard a muffled "Come in."
"Hey man," Luca greeted, stepping inside and closing the door behind him. Rutger was sprawled on his bed, staring at his phone with a frown. He looked up, his expression softening into a smile when he saw Luca.
"Luca, what’s up bud? How was your break?" Rutger asked, sitting up and setting his phone aside.
"It was good. Spent most of it with the family, you know how it is," Luca replied, taking a seat at the desk chair. "How about you? What did you get up to?"
Rutger shrugged. "Same old, same old. Just relaxed, saw some friends, hung out with the folks. Nothing too exciting."
Luca nodded, the conversation starting off innocent and casual. They chatted for a few more minutes, the usual back-and-forth about holiday meals, New Year's resolutions, and Luca updating Rutger on Adam and his time in Columbus. But Luca had a purpose for this visit, and he knew he couldn't dance around it forever.
When the conversation hit a lull, Luca took a deep breath and decided to cut to the chase. "So, I heard about what happened between you and Sofia."
Rutger's face instantly fell, a mixture of guilt and anxiety clouding his features. "She told you?"
“Yeah,” Luca nodded. “And don’t bother lying, she told me pretty much everything. I just want to hear your side of it.”
Rutger swallowed hard, looking down at his hands. "How is she?" he asked quietly.
"Pretty fucking terrible," Luca answered bluntly. "She was really hurt, man."
Rutger's shoulders slumped, and he ran a hand through his hair. "I didn't mean to hurt her. The thought of her being upset over me is killing me. I swear, Luca, I never wanted any of this."
“Then what the hell happened?" Luca pressed, his tone softening just a bit.
Rutger’s mouth opened then shut repeatedly as he tried to come up with his words. "I… I do have feelings for her, okay? I have for a while. But I couldn't admit it, not to her and not to myself. She's your sister, man. I mean if we did date and something happened then I would end up losing both Sof and you ‘n Adam in one fell swoop. So I figured it was better to lose one than lose all. So I pushed her away. But in doing that, I ended up hurting her even more. And I swear I never meant-”
“Woah, woah, woah.” Luca interrupted, processing Rutger’s confession. “Are you saying you have feelings for Sofia?”
Rutger nodded reluctantly. "Y-yeah, I do."
“Fucking Christ, why didn’t you just say so?” Luca asked, pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers.
Rutger sighed, the weight of his emotions bearing down on him. "I don't know, Luca. I was scared. Scared of screwing things up, scared of what you'd think, scared of everything, I guess."
On one hand, Luca felt bad for his friend, who was clearly torn and vulnerable. On the other hand, the sight of his sister crying for days on end was etched in his mind. Luca couldn’t help but let the protective brother in him come out momentarily, giving Rutger a piece of his mind.
"You know, Sofia deserves better than this cowardly bullshit. She's been nothing but honest with you, and you repay her by pushing her away and leaving her in the dark?" Luca said.
"I know," Rutger admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "I know I messed up. But I didn’t mean to be a dick, Luca. I was just… I was confused and terrified. You and Adam are like brothers to me, and Sofia, she's… she's everything. I didn't want to risk losing all of you."
Luca let out a frustrated sigh, shaking his head. "Well, congratulations, Rutger. You managed to hurt her and piss me off all at the same time."
"I want to make it right," Rutger said, desperation creeping into his tone. "I don't know how, but I want to fix this. I can't stand the thought of her being hurt because of me."
Luca narrowed his eyes, a sigh slipping out. “So what are you gonna do about it?”
Rutger’s head shot up, furrowing his brows at Luca. “W-what?”
“How are you gonna make this better?” Luca reiterated.
“Are you seriously okay with me asking Sofia out?” Rutger asked, confirming that he was hearing his friend correctly. “I mean what about your ‘don’t even look at Sofia’ rule?”
Luca couldn’t help but let out a chuckle. “Yeah, I tell the guys not to look at her like that, 'cause she’s my baby sister. But dude, you’re one of my best friends, I trust you.”
Rutger's eyes widened in surprise. "You… you do?"
"Yeah," Luca said firmly. "I trust you. And I think Sofia does too, or at least she did before all this mess."
Rutger looked down, realizing how badly he had messed up. "But she won't speak to me after everything that happened."
Luca stood up, walking to Rutger’s side. "I'll get her to talk to you. Just… don't screw it up this time, okay?"
Rutger nodded, gratitude and hope shining in his eyes. "I won't. I promise."
Luca clapped him on the shoulder, a small smile playing on his lips. "Good. Now, let's grab some dinner. We've got a plan to figure out." Luca said. “But you’re paying 'cause you were a dick to my baby sister.”
