I love how ominous such basic names like "The Organization" or "The Institute" or "The Initiative" or "The Facility" or etc. are when placed in like a shady sci-fi context, like there's no reason for them to sound that suspicious, but without elaboration, it's like here is a place where they are doing things™ and I am like ooohh, because the blank state, the refusal to give you any more detail makes you think they're hiding something on purpose and leaves the darkest corner of the imagination left to fill in the rest.

Curious, I haven’t really seen any real trend among aspec people and the ship tropes they do like, however I think I kinda seen a trend in what they dislike. So in the tags tell me if you’re aspec (ace and/or aro) and if you dislike soulmates, and I mean the most straightforward romantic non subverted kind (but if there are versions you like feel free to elaborate)

Every time Jack Rackham, limpest wristed man in Nassau, suffers an incredibly funny Upset (TM) and cuts the heavy tone of the tragedy with some “I will be your daddy” shit, I understand EXACTLY why Vane kept him onboard.

One major factor missing from most debates on Arya and Lyanna's beauty is that they're being judged by their society's extremely patriarchal values. In both looks and personality, that context is essential to understanding how others perceive them. George explores the misogyny experienced by non-conforming women, especially with Arya, and it's interesting how he plays with that regarding their physical beauty.
Her mother used to say she could be pretty if she would just wash and brush her hair and take more care with her dress, the way her sister did. (The Blind Girl, ADWD) "You never knew Lyanna as I did, Robert," Ned told him. "You saw her beauty, but not the iron underneath. She would have told you that you have no business in the melee." (Eddard VII, AGOT)
These two quotes offer a nice summation of this idea. With Arya, her supposed lack of beauty is defined by her being a non-conforming wild child. Her hair is messy, her face is dirty, and she's often in "lower class" clothing while engaging in unladylike activities. None of this says anything about her physical beauty but it tells us everything about how she's perceived. Arya could be pretty...If she conforms to society's standards for a highborn Lady. With Lyanna, however, we get the opposite. Where Arya is judged based on her personality, Robert's romanticization of Lyanna is rooted solely in her looks. He doesn't know anything about the person she really was. There is an assumption that, because she looked a certain way, her personality must fit and Robert imagines her much softer and more passive than she actually was.
That Arya isn't pretty or Lyanna wasn't wild are two perceptions that George specifically pushes back against. This is where people miss the brilliance of them being linked as literary mirrors; it is largely about us learning more about Lyanna, but it touches on more than that. The significance of them being written as wild, willful, and with their own beauty is that George isn't writing his female characters around patriarchal expectations. When people debate their beauty, that's often the trapping they fall into. Beauty and non-conformity are treated as mutually exclusive factors when the story itself never makes that point; this is also the logic that leads people to the (incorrect) conclusion that Lyanna and Arya aren't meant to be similar. Arya's self-esteem issues around her looks and being a Lady make this a topic certain to be addressed in the future; George has made it a part of the story. The conclusion shouldn't be that "looks don't matter", but that looks aren't indicative of a character's value, personality, or morality.

picturing Velvette huddled up on a Hell doorstep 2 hours after she arrived making a list of possible ways to get some power as quickly as possible on a bloodstained cellphone she took off a corpse and it's like
create startup, get aqui-hired
become first hellfluencer
sugar daddy?
startup + collab with a celebrity for more attention
celebrity boyfriend?
become already powerful couple's third, profit
actually find people to work with who respect and value my skills and me as a person <- this one is a joke
and then a year later she's in bed, awake after vox and val have nodded off for once, looking at mockups of the Vee tower design on her phone, and brings up the old list for just a minute to cross everything else out and write in 'all of the above???'

the assumption that Imogen (and previously Ashton) never recieved any assistance from the gods because they didn't pray "correctly" is interesting to me. is there some specific procedure for acceptable prayer in Exandria? if you don't do it right is it like texting the wrong number and the Gods just don't get the message? or are they just putting cries for help that don't follow their formatting and content guidelines at the bottom of the pile lmao

love how with many divorced ships we dont actually see the divorce so we have to imagine how badly it went to get how they arrived to where they are (or leave the details to the void for the fun of it) but with feihua we actually see the divorce on screen, it’s literally the FIRST thing we see on screen and it’s a MESS of a divorce and then we see their first interaction post-divorce 10 years after and it would make no sense for any sane person to go from this point A to that point B, but they do. they do and that’s why im insane about feihua

I'd also be remiss not to mention the ending tease for round 6!!! It's Ivan VS Till time
What's interesting is that Till is clearly staring at the Mizi VS Luka match, but the picture he punches is his own. Maybe he blames himself for not saving her, maybe he's angry at himself... Does he still want to win? Is he more determined than ever, or is he giving up? I need to know his mindset
And Ivan too, I mean, I'm sure he's all sorts of messed up about the fact that he's going to have to compete against the guy he's in love with... Again I wonder what his mindset is. Does he intend to lose anyway? Or maybe he's also plotting, given that one promo image of him Skeptically looking at Mizi's missing picture. Maybe he expects something to happen anyway, or maybe he's inspired to finally do something himself.
But the thing that made Ivan fall in love with Till was his rebelliousness, it reminded him of the freedom he saw in the falling stars, a light that broke through his hopelessness (his black sorrrowwww). If Till IS giving in to some sort of despair then would Ivan seek to reignite that flame at his own expense? Or if Till is fully determined, is Ivan happy to just watch that spark burn as he sings with him for the last time? Or maybe he doesn't intend to lose despite everything, but I can't see Ivan putting himself in front of Till at all... But I can see him finally being inspired to act on his own, for once, his own rebellion.
At the end of the day though I'm just talking about their mindsets going into it, thinking it'll be to the death. Because we know as the audience that Mizi and Hyuna are on their way to fuck shit up and hopefully free them (maybe the world that Ivan and Till saw on that one night under the meteors can finally open up to them, now that Mizi is out too)
And I also wonder if Mizi wanted to go specifically because those are her friends. The girl that she loved with all her heart, the one she called her universe and her God, is already dead. We saw her grief in MiziSua and we see her resolve now. Beyond getting any sort of revenge on Luka or Alien Stage itself, I think Mizi wants to keep the friends she has left alive.

autism be damned my boy can do calligraphy and knows a lot about capital punishment
#prince myshkin#lev nikolayevitch myshkin#the idiot#myshkin#no but i really think there are legitimate reasons to argue that myshkin could be seen as an autistic character#other than the fact that he literally checks of every criteria#there's also the fact that there is a frequent comorbidity of epilepsy and autism#which makes me think (tho i have not nearly done enough research on this to make any actual claims)#that there is a possibility that traits which we would today associate with autism could back in the day#before the term autism even existed#could be seen as something common among epicleptic people#and given that myshkin is already canonically neurodivergent and epileptic#it really isn't a stretch to say that if we were to apply modern day terminology on a 19th century character#he could be seen as an early example of an autistic character#which makes it very interesting to note how people in the book view and interact with him#(and even without the possible autism he's still a canon neurodivergent character cast as the protagonist in a 19th century book#which on its own is really interesting#especially considering the fact that dostoyevsky drew from experiences with his own epilepsy)#for example canon infantilization (which this post is definitely a joke on) the whole 'idiot' thing etc.#also the way he views himself! he has so much internalised ableism#i also think it's interesting that another character that exhibits a lot of autistic traits is kirillov#who's also canonically epileptic#my post#vince talks
