When the public found out that you and thee Johnny Cage were in a relationship, a lot of people lost it. Some assumed that the only reason he was in a relationship with you was because so that he could still be famous or whatever other things they say. All you both did was just ignore those people comments.

That wasn't the first time some of your so called 'fans' tried bashing you for the decisions that you make. Same with Johnny. He isn't with you because of your fame and money, you and him actually had chemistry.

You and him were made for one another believe it or not. You both were like soulmates, literally. They were times where you and Johnny shared a braincell.

The thing about Johnny, as much as self absorbed that he is. He actually a very caring and sweet person to be around. He also is very good at making people laugh and get them to be flattered. That's what made you fall for him. He is a himbo in a way, but he is your himbo.

He is very supportive of you. He knows how much potential you got and you should show share it with the world.

Johnny likes to listen to your music, he's the type to listen to all kinds of music. At times you may hear him humming to your music and even singing under his breath while he's doing something.

He may not know very much about music, but he'll help in any way you need help in. For example, if you're having a difficult time trying to come up with lyrics or a beat for your song, he'll try and help. He loves to help you in all ways possible.

If that doesn't work with your writers block, you'll stop what you're doing and do something with Johnny. Whether is watching a movie, cooking together, simply just lay together in bed, or whatever you can think of.

A thing that he likes about you, is how you call out your some of your 'fans' on their weird and toxic behavior. He's had his fair share of his strange over the top fans. But he's never really had the guts to tell them off. He liked that you did, that gave him some sort of courage for him to do so as well.

You and Johnny have blast reading comments and watching videos in how you have become 'satanic'. It was funny because it all started when you began to work on other projects, that aren't what you normally do. This stuff isn't new though, every time a music artist does something new and is successful at it, then they've become a 'Satanist'. That's old news, probably as old as Johnny.

He's goes to your concerts and even on tour with you. He becomes your personal assistant in a way, because he knows you like the back of his hand. He doesn't mind it at all, he enjoys being your personal assistant. (He takes your kisses as payment.)

He also makes it his mission to record all most everything about the concert, mainly you since you're the star of the show. His star.

Johnny buys your merch. He doesn't have a shame in wearing it. He'll wear it 24/7. Whether is a shirt, hoodie, sweater, socks. He wears it.

Most of his social media, is of pictures of you and him, sometimes mainly just you. He also posts in his Instagram story your posts about your new album or shows. He loves to show you off to everyone. (He's probably do that one Will Smith meme when he is with you in public. Specially when it comes to events.)

Johnny is a dog person, but if you have pet cats. He'd end up spoiling the hell out of your cats. He'd also refer to them as yours and his kids.

K'Sante

We all know about Aphelios replacing K'Sante's protein powder with flour, right? KNOWING this man eats that shit DRY? Evil. And I love it. On top of that, I like to imagine Phel changes the lock and homescreens on K'Sante's tablet to just... really weird shit. Obscure memes. Sometimes ones he's made himself. Ones he's made about K'Sante. How did he get the pass code. K'Sante doesn't know. K'Sante does not have the power to stop him. Someone help this man.

Sett

Pranking Sett is both so easy and so difficult. It's so easy to get a big emotional reaction out of him... but there are some pranks that will just fly right over his head. But I think Phel's favorite thing to do is gaslight this motherfucker. Tell him fake facts knowing that Sett is gonna repeat it later and look silly. And when Sett is like "Phel told me that! It's true!", Phel is like "I did not say that, where did you hear that".

Yone

You might be thinking, "If anyone were to be free of his shenanigans, it's got to be Yone, right?" And you would be correct. However, no one is free, and therefore Yone suffers. And by "suffers", I mean his cold brew is replaced with decaf. Yone notices. Immediately. He doesnt even have to taste it. He is not happy.

Yone is aware he can just go buy a cold brew, but its the principle of the thing. You don't fuck with a man's coffee, or his morning routine. But Yone can't prove anything, and his coffee is re-replaced as soon as he makes a stink about it, so.

Kayn

Kayn loves to dye his hair, canonically. And if he dyes his hair with any dye that comes in containers like the Arctic Fox hair dye, you bet Phel has intentionally switched around the colors. He bought sticker remover stuff so he could peel off the labels and switch them around undetected, so Kayn opens up his next bottle of pinkish purple dye and ends up with ultramarine or black or green and dumping it directly on his head.

Because let's be honest, I don't imagine Kayn would put that shit in a bowl and apply it with a brush. He's squeezing that bottle on his head and rubbing it in with his hands. And you're lucky if he's using gloves.

Ezreal

Ezreal is an easy one to prank. If Ez leaves his phone alone for even a SECOND, Aphelios is on that shit, hiding it away in his pocket or something so Ez is frantically looking for it. And then he puts it in a spot he KNOWS Ezreal knows he's looked. He gets a really big reaction out of it, too, which is what makes such a low effort prank so worth it. Minimal risk, big reward. If he's lucky, Ezreal might start whining.

Aphelios

Now, dear reader, you may be asking "Why is Aphelios on this list?". And the answer to that question lies in the fact that Aphelios is not even safe from himself. Particularly when he is drunk. I envision drunk Aphelios giggling to himself as he thinks "It would be really funny to piss off sober me", and doing something he knows is going to inconvenience him while hung over. Like rearranging his bedroom furniture in a way that doesn't make sense or is impractical. Or hiding the toilet paper so he has to do the shuffle of shame after his morning shit.

He is a menace, even to himself. I told you no one is free.

Alune

This is her brother. Her brother who loves her, but her brother nonetheless. He's perfected the art of the prank, and she was his unwilling test subject for many, many years. Anything you can think of, he's probably done it to her. There's nothing he can do that would surprise her, at this point. I think he enjoys stealing her hair ties and hiding them somewhere she can't reach. Or hiding all of the left socks in her matching pairs. Anything to inconvenience her just a little bit. And she knows this has the work of the Phae (Phel/Fae) written all over it.

the character everyone gets wrong

I wouldn't say eeeveryone, but... a lot of people get Will Graham wrong. like, he's an extremely complex character with many different aspects that aren't explored too deeply in the show at times (despite the show mostly being from his perspective); but there are enough leads to go off of to at least get the right idea when going deeper yourself. my main issue is that he's either taken at face value all the time, reduced to his season 1 encephalitis-riddled persona, or completely twinkified and innocent. all of which are plain wrong and annoying to see, I'm not gonna lie. you do you and all that, but it does get annoying after the third or so post from different people in a row, and seeing that slowly but surely becoming a popular fanon idea (especially among new fans). but I just scroll past or even block people because it doesn't actually matter and I can control what I see and react to. (also, it's not like I am an expert on Will either or understand him 100% and am right all the time. but seeing him completely misinterpreted and almost turned into a new character, a shell of his self and a caricature of who he is, that's what gets me.)

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom

Will Graham again, what a surprise. oki, so, personally, I do believe he's a vers/switch. but he especially strikes me as a power bottom a lot of times. he's generally dominant, but he likes to receive. he can be a brat and wants to be dominated sometimes, too, depending on the partner. but most of the time, he's dominant, in need of control, but wants to be worshipped/treated (in the way that he receives). gosh, uh... compelling argument. um. vibes, I guess. my brainworms said so. Will himself told me that. idk hdfdkjshfjksh

16. you can't understand why so many people like this thing (characterization, trope, headcanon, etc)

"uwu innocent babygirl that has never done anything wrong and it's all the big bad Hannibal that manipulated and destroyed him" characterization of Will Graham. it's sometimes a funny meme, which I'll laugh at, too, buuut if it's taken seriously and people actually think that, um... nope. and I've seen that going around a lot. not to shame anyone, just an observation of the Twitter- and TikTokfication of Hannibal, yet again. I've pretty much only seen new fans, who come from those two platforms in particular, do that and be serious about it.

22. your favorite part of canon that everyone else ignores

honestly? the different relationships and dynamics in the show that aren't Hannigram. like, yes, people also focus quite a bit on Will and Hannibal's respective dynamics with Alana and Bedelia, but usually through the Hannigram-lens. same with Abigail. and it makes sense, duh, Alana, Bedelia and Abigail are extremely intertwined with Hannigram. so are most other characters and their dynamics. because that's the main focus of the show, basically. but I still think that other relationships and dynamics are vastly underrated and even overlooked. examples include Jack Crawford with literally anyone but Will or Hannibal. especially with Miriam Lass. or his literal wife, Bella. or Francis and Reba. Abel Gideon and Chilton. and so on. there are many interesting dynamics to explore. I understand the focus on Hannigram and Hannigram-adjacent ones, like, I'm guilty of that, too. so is the show itself. but, you know. that's just the thing that came to mind first.

How about relationship headcanons/ideas? How would they treat one another? What if one gets sick? What if a 3-sum idea comes up, how would they react? Would they have an open or closed relationship? That kind of stuff! (you can also throw in headcanons for both individually if you have the space, I'm curious ^^)

OH THIS IS SO FUN-

Let's do it.

Relationship HCs:

- How do they treat one another?

They're best friends, always have been. Nothing much changes on that dynamic. I think Kon likes to tease indefinitely, and Bart likes to act innocent when he knows he's not. They banter as friends, and play video games at 3 AM too. I also personally think Kon has a softer spot for Bart himself, whereas with others it's his cocky/slick and cool jock persona. Same for Bart, as Bart himself is *not very nice* in the Impulse comics.

- What happens if one gets sick?

Speaking to the fact that Kryptonians can't get human illnesses, allergies, and ailments, let's say Bart gets sick. He's down with strep throat. Kon goes balls to the walls, he speed googles how to cure strep throat whilst panicking because he does not know how to deal with human sickness, and Bart is just in bed like, "what." Kon would absolutely make every remedy possible, and he'd take him to the doctors like Bart's dying or something. Once Bart tells him that no, he's not dying, Kon calms down a little.

- Threesomes?

This goes into my personal individual HCs for them, but I don't think either of them would be shocked. In fact I think that personally, they wouldn't turn it down at most notions. Kon's got the hormones of a teenage boy, and Bart can keep up with it. They both have crushes outside of eachother that they'd be fine with fucking in one another's company as well.

- Open or closed relationship?

I guess this one can depend on what dynamic I'm finding with them. Because Kon is very loyal as a person, as is Bart. So if they were in agreement of monogamy, then that's it. I think they'd keep that promise. If they weren't? I damn well know Kon would be the kind to fuck around, but Bart would still be his main person. His main partner and lover. Same for Bart to Kon, he'd have relationships outside of theirs, but his and Kon's is his main priority. They both feel like the kinds of the people that can't be tied down, and that would reflect in their relationship and relation to sex and things.

- Three-Way pairs?

TimBartKon. They're all very close and kind to my heart. <3

- Who Tops?

I'd say Kon tops more often, but they switch on occasions. Sometimes Bart needs to let off some steam in, other ways. ;)

- They gossip about other people with eachothwr and they are BITCHES about it because they're both brash as hell.

- Their dancing together is half insane because they use their powers a lot of the time. And it's just limbs all over.

I haven't done lists in a while and there's a lot pilling up just this week so it's time to bring it back.

1. I'm revisting Old Hollywood again now that I've watched most of the films nominated for Oscar this year. The Be Kind Rewind youtube channel has been sort of the trigger for going back to the past and for that I have to thank @shimako for the recommendation 🩷 I've watched the 2 hour and a half video essays on the Valley of The Dolls and the behind the scenes story is far more interesting that the film itself.

Not to say that the themes addressed in the film wouldn't be, like disillusionment in Hollywood, personal grievances, what it means to be an actress and especially not a really succesful one. It reminded me of Didion's Play It As It Lays (which I think it's a better piece of literature although the film adaption seems to have turned into a failure?)

2. Anyway, that made me go down the rabbit hole and watch other essays on Ruth Gordon (amazing woman) and Katharine Hepburn.

3 . Speaking of Hepburn, I realized yesterday that I've only seen her paired on screen with Cary Grant and not with Spencer Tracy (I know!). So I rectified that mistake and I watched Adam's Rib (George Cukor, 1949) and I finally understood what all the fuss was about and I have some sort of theory. Grant and Hepburn together are like this very performative version of a couple in which the constant bickering takes center stage, but even when they do get together, it lacks something. A bit of authenticity. But with the Hepburn-Tracy duo, you can almost feel it. It's right there in the small, natural gestures. Instant chemistry and love. They work so well together. I guess the off screen affair of 26 years helped that as well.

3. I love Mommy Dearest and Faye Dunaway as Joan Crawford. The screaming, the crying, the makeup, "No wire hangers!". Poor baby Christina. It's a shame though that Faye Dunaway distanced herself from it because of how "bad" it turned out, but I understand why she felt she had to do it.

But I also couldn't help but think of DeNiro in Cape Fear and his own campy performance in a very 90s ridiculous film that allowed Scorsese to try his hand at that type of thriller. DeNiro's career didn't suffer because of it, as opposed to Dunaway's version of camp, which I prefer actually. It may have been hated at that time, but Mommie Dearest is a cult classic.

*Bonus: Currently listening to another You Must Remember This podcast series. It's Gossip Girls: Louella Parsons and Hedda Hopper, aka the famous old Hollywood gossip columnists.

4. People going conspiracy mode over Kate Middleton? Some of us lived months without any sign from Jimin. They could learn from that. But love the memes.

5. I feel sorry for those kids in Glasgow. They really experienced the effects of AI used by assholes who wanted to make some money. The lady in green hair has been all over twitter and whilst funny for us, it is shitty to be in her shoes. The Unknown! 🤦‍♀️

6. Who was an ass to Rebecca Ferguson on set? The consensus is that Jake Gyllenhaal was the culprit and I wouldn't be surprised. But it needs more investigating.

7. Over in K-Pop Land Karina gets a boyfriend, her fans are devasted and Koreaboo is pumping "articles" by the minute. What else is new?

8. Stans of all types are stanning and fighting. One day 🐥 girlies, the next day 🐰 girlies and all the other crazies all week long, no break. I do read the stuff in my inbox, but I'm really not in a mood to comment on every shitty thing that happens so often. I know that once I do it, then I just invite more and it's just pointless. There's no actual JM and JK which is frustrating enough and no travel show on the horizon and it's just too bleak at this point.

We're waiting, clock is ticking. At least release a travel show as a summer content, ok?

9. I did see that Billboard kpop 100 top. Yeah, I don't understand the logic of including individual artists if they haven't charted on their own. Don't these people have editors to point out the flaws in the listicles? It's just dumb.

The prevalence of male character feminization is really high in the ST fandom and I’m not sure how to feel about it. It can’t just be the hanky thing (that costume designer has no idea what they’ve unleashed!) and I understand that it’s a kink and I’m not going to shame that. But as you say, it seeps into lots of fics where it’s like people think that’s how a bottom acts.

I wondered if it was the huge influx of tik tok teens that came with S4, who might (MIGHT) be eager to just run with their own thoughts rather than following canon? I mean, a small but significant proportion of Steddie fans readily admit haven’t even watched previous seasons. A couple of authors have even said they hadn’t watched the show at all, and only know it from tik tok. Now, they’re allowed to be in the fandom. All are welcome. It’s just an interesting phenomenon. It would explain some of the poor grammar in some fics. I’m not talking all fics/all young authors, some of them are brilliant. But with dialogue, some seem to think you put a period wherever a comma would normally go, and that’s something I’ve never seen in any other fandom. And then there’s your/your, the past tense of to lie/to lay, peek/peak/pique, queue/cue, bear/bare…I could go on for ages.

But that’s beside the point. Back to feminization: another consideration is the fact that many authors write their favorite characters as a self insert of sorts. Not just fanfic authors, either: Stephen King does it all the time, and other authors too. So that means some (again, not all) female authors will write Steve (it’s usually Steve, let’s be honest here) that way because they want him to be loved the way they want to be loved, whether that involves kink or not.

I’m not a fan of it, personally. I like Steve how he is in canon, and a lot of traditionally ‘feminine’ tropes don’t fit him. When he’s written as a coy or coquettish, or someone who cries all the time, for example, it’s not to my taste. Kinda throws me out of the story, tbh. But it clearly is appealing to lots of other people.

That’s not to say that Steve doesn’t have some ‘female’ traits. I find the babygirl Steve meme as funny as anyone else, and of course he has been given the reluctant babysitter role. In S3 he was so prettily styled it was crazy, and he was the one receiving creepy facial caresses from the Russian general when any other show would have had that happen to Robin. But he can be written as he is in canon - that same pretty boy who’s also a jock, who can take a punch like a champ, is an adorable doofus and a recklessly courageous protector - and still be a bottom.

I also have no idea where it really comes from. However, the feminization for the purpose of making one character in a mlm gay relationship 'the man' of the relationship and the other 'the woman' of the relationship is a widespread issue across most fandom spaces tbh, and I know that everytime it comes up its just cycled discourse that's been talked to death - but the fact of the matter is that gay men in fandom spaces have repeatedly told us that it's harmful. There is a tasteful way to have Steve (or Eddie or whoever) explore a more feme gender expression, but it becomes very clear in fic when the feminization is being used as a way to fit a gay relationship into heteronormative gender-roles and/or fetishize the pairing. It is all very "so who wears the pants in this relationship?" imo - which really sucks. A metalhead nerd and a prom king jock can be in a relationship with each other without having to sacrifice the masculine aspects of their personalities. It is so rare in gay relationships for one person to always be the bottom or always be the top and sometimes the top is the tiny femme one and the bottom is the big masculine one. And sometimes neither has any particularly femme qualities and sometimes neither have any particularly masc qualities.

Also, on another barely related note - what is with people exaggerating their heights to fit this idea, one of the first indicators I have for "this fic might not be for me" is if one of them is suddenly towering over the other despite the fact that Joe Keery/Steve is just barely an inch taller than Joe Quinn/Eddie?? Idk if that's just a personal preference thing, and I don't always hate it but it's another thing that I feel sometimes gets used to enforce het-gender roles.

IDK if my points came across all that clearly, but the issue isn't necessarily "Stop Babygirl-ifying Steve" so much as it is "Stop Babygirl-ifying Steve in a way that's fetishizing gay men" and that can get kind of lost in the discourse I think - imo it's pretty easy to pick out when it's done well and when it's done harmfully and everyone can read what they want to but I personally am going to try and stay away from the latter.

Happy Sunday Marte! I’ve found one funny gay site on IG (unfortunately it’s in my motherlanguage with memes which only people from my country would understand so I’m not gonna share it) and eventho I’m a straight woman, I’ve laughed a lot and it instantly became my favourite site there. And this site also got me into thinking about HL - well mostly about Louis to be honest. Like yes, we don’t know about their roles in their relationship and more likely they are versatile, I can’t help myself but I mostly see Louis as the top one because like f.e. (and these examples are from that IG site how the author - gay himself - defines top gays) he’s the tinier one, his known manspreading, very often visible bulge, he’s the messy one or the fact he’s not into self-care that much if at all…..I mean in like every third post I just saw Louis and I was so close not tag him in the comment section under those posts because what a shame he’s not known in the community in my country because he has everything why gays would love him. And so it got me into thinking how lthq wants more male fans and so Louis has to have this laddy lad image doing laddy lad stuff and talking about punk rock and indie music etc etc. I’m aware his CO is not coming any time in the nearly future and he also has bbg on his back for so long but if at least they’d let him be more himself and take adventage from his top energy, it might help him to get more males into the fandom from at least in the lgbt community. Like how come there are so many queer male fans when it comes to Harry but those male queers are harder to find in Louis fandom. Oh isn’t it because hshq let Harry be more himself and so eventho he has to play it to his het side of fandom, he’s also playing it to his queer side. While Louis’ image is straight laddy lad.

I think it's so interesting that this fandom got such different views on H and L. I see people fight about who tops and bottoms daily, who's the dominant one and who's the submissive. I think it's okay to view them either this or that way, and it's okay to prefer this type of fic or that, but the way this fandom is divided into two camps or sides on this issue is so sad. It's gotten too far and it's so childish. I think people should grow up and both camps need to be able to deal with seeing feminised artwork versions of both H and L without going off on a tangent. Seriously. There is no right or wrong side, so learn to deal with people who are of different opinions.

Anyway, i think what you see as top energy is him trying to bring out and use his masc side to appear straight. It's to attract straight males to him as an artist. Queer men will see right through that. They'll see it as posturing, see signs of toxic masculinity and be averse to his signs of homophobia. Harry is queercoding and showing signs of queerfriendliness. Queer men feel safe with H. I think L is between a rock and a hard place in terms of who to cater to, and how it will be percieved. He's doing a bit of everything right now. Is it because he can't totally commit to the bit, or because it's not authentic? There are different opinions on this.

I want to pre-emptively say that what I'm gonna ask is in good faith and I'm really curious, that said I wanted to ask since you are the one who I follow who enjoys Elysia a lot and I tend to find really interesting your readings of characters:

What is it that makes Ellie that enjoyable for you? I genuinely am perplexed because It feels to me like a character I would normally like, the whole motif of loving humanity, not by necessity or weird cult, but out of pure admiration of what humanity can be feels like something I would enjoy, but throughout the whole ER experience Elysia has always prompted an eye rolling experience to me, and I think it may be because of how much everyone seems to not be able to shut up about how great she is for a second, but I feel I'm probably biased by an annoyance I've head with her before hand from interacting with a vocal subset of fans of her wich usually ends up being "she hot, repeated sex and horn joke n.387" so I ended up kind of skimming through when dialogue involving her was present.

Sorry for the long ask but now that ER has ended I wanted to try and see If I'm missing something with her, and if you decide to respond to this long-ass ask thank you in advance, if you don't feel like I absolutely get it dw and thank you for your time

I think, first off, it's perfectly ok to not like her! She seemed to be a pretty hit or miss character, many people love her but a lot also don't like her at all. That's totally fine.

For me, first of all I liked the mystery about her. When you're really trying to think of what's up with a character, you think more about them, and if you think a lot about a character you'll usually get attached. If you're not interested, obviously that's not gonna happen. She made me curious! She had a lot of sneaky sneaky recollections, and to be honest some things she could do haven't been clearly explained even now.

Second thing, Elysia made me laugh a lot. She just says completely shameless and outrageous things, and she's not shy about what she thinks or wants— she's also a huge tease who knows exactly what to say to gently bully her friends. Laughing is a positive experience, I like doing it, so it made me like her even more!

Third thing that got kinda dropped in Elysium Everlasting (SHAME), but was more present in ER chapter 1 and 2, is how they were actively subverting the "she's perfect" narrative. Elysia will say outrageous things, but whoever she's talking to reacts more like *facepalm*. Mei, Mobius and to a lesser extent Su would do that. It creates a comedic dynamic, sometimes at her expense ("must be growing up" "you're just getting fat, Elysia"), sometimes not, and balances out what she says. Even in her enemy collection, you have Elysia bragging, Mei asking "Can anyone keep her under control?" and Kevin answering "No". It's very funny, and it disarms the annoyance I feel, because the other characters are literally siding with me. (But they like her anyway).

Fourth I guess comes her actual character, she's a nice girl who wants to make everyone around her happy, but she is also profoundly lonely and covers up her negative feelings with smiles and jokes. That kind of character is fun to write and read about! She's also very insightful so she delivers so good lines to other characters too, which is ALSO very good. I like seeing her be soft, but I like see her teasing too. Just a delight to write and read about.

Fifth she is very pretty and fun to play, I always enjoy my runs with her! Not a fan of the color pink myself but her model is very very well made, and her gameplay feels really good to me. Then again I love most characters' gameplay, as long as they don't hurt my hand hahaha.

Sixth she is very memeable and I love making jokes and memes so that made me like and think about her more, joins back with point two except I'm the one joking around.

Let's stop here... getting a bit long. But on top of my head that's what I like about her!

My thoughts on Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

The game’s been out for almost a week now and Ive blasted through it in like 3 days because my sick ass couldn’t really do much but lay around and suffer anyways. Rn I’m trying to fill my Pokedex and I’ve started a second, way slower playthrough to really enjoy everything the game’s got to offer.

Criticism

So, Pokemon’s first open world game. We’ve all seen the memes, the game has a lot of bugs and especially performance issues. While I have not run into a high amount of glitches, except for some visual stuttering and one shut down, the performance of this game is sometimes atrocious. And this coming from someone who plays Monster Hunter World on an old laptop at 30fps where more than half the textures don’t even load. Sometimes the game dances on the line of death when it loads in too many Pokemon, or god forbid you’re on water because your switch will sound like a chainsaw trying to cut through a stubborn trunk.

And it really IS a shame, because the concepts and ideas of this game are a lot of fun! Like, this game IS fun but it does get bogged down by its issues a lot. Also bcs it does not have dynamic level scaling. Don’t tell me I can go everywhere and do anything, but then throw me in a zone I can’t go through. Don’t get me wrong, the whole “I SHOULD NOT BE HERE YET” experience is very funny and makes you look forward to going back to places, but the layout is just confusing. At the start, Nemona tells you the West Gate is for the first Gym Challenge, Arven tells you the East Gate is for the first Titan. You’d assume either way you go, the challenges in that zone are at least around the same levels but NOPE. You can beat the Gym Leader on the side of the first Titan relatively easily, but try to take on the Team Star base in the same area and be sure to suffer. This weird layout design goes through most of the game. Like, why is the Gym Leader that’s FARTHER North than Grucia weaker than him??? Like, you kinda HAVE to go through his town to get to the other one. It just does NOT make any sense!

I wanna say that Game Freak just needed more time but we know that even a year more wouldn’t have helped much, because Game Freak just isn’t a studio that’s equipped to do everything they set out to do. They’re short development time makes them build the games on an already wonky base, so even if they did suddenly extend the development by a year, I don’t think much would have changed since they had a faulty game design from the start. It pisses me off so much how Game Freak won’t or can’t reach out for help, they always try to keep everything in their small little team and not let outside hands touch their product (which ofc also is because of all the branding around it), but with their short 3 year development cycle, these guys just aren’t fit for the job to make the games they want to and the people demand. For fuck’s sake, they’re the biggest media franchise on earth, I do not understand what makes them think that one more year of development from the start or an extension of their team would do to fuck that over. So far the people stick with their games because they give us glimmers of hope and lure us in with great Pokemon and characters, but if this continues, they are slowly but surely going to lose their status as top franchise.

Because not making a game with this low res run well on the switch when the Xenoblade’s Chronicles games can be played on the system is unacceptable.

The Good stuff

Now that Ive got the negative stuff out of the way, I can go to stuff I really enjoyed. Because while I do have my fair share of criticism, this game also did a lot I liked.

For one, I am deeply saddened they removed the chugging balls mechanic from Arceus, this just makes catching Pokemon a hassle again. However, I do like the autobattle mechanic. It’s a bit rough because your Pokemon are so slow and once you run for 3 steps they’re back in their Pokeballs. But it’s a nice mechanic to get some off hands exp when traveling from place to place.

Speaking of traversal, I really love Kuraidon. The sound design of this Pokemon is immaculate, I love the scaly boy, he has so much personality and I love how you’re unlocking HMs for him through the Herba Mystica. It’s such a stupid pun but I love it.

As for the other new Pokemon, I’m hit and miss on them. A lot feel weirdly Fakemon. Like, the Flamingo and the Stork don’t feel like real Pokemon to me. Others, however, I really really liked. The Smoliv line is one of my new fav Gras types, Fuecoco has no braincells and I love him for that, and this game did give us some awesome new bug and fairy types. DUDE, A BREAD DOG?! HE’S SO CUTE!!(Spoiler for endgame)

And then the ancient Pokemon. I do prefer the ancient Mons to the futuristic ones tbh, and I like the concept also way more of trying to bring back old, extinct Pokemon to live alongside the present ones than bringing some from the future. Dude, like, the ancient Volcarona is so fucking cool, it’s my fav of the old mons.

But on to the one thing I truly loved about Scarlet and Violet, the characters. Specifically the main three, Nemona, Arven and Penny (and Mr. Clavell/Clive). I never thought I’d like Penny and Arven at the start but holy shit they grew on me. Even Nemona, who I figured I’d like, took a turn in character I hadn’t expected.

Let’s start off with Penny since I have the least to say about her. It was pretty obvious she’s the leader of Team Star from the start, right? The predictability aside, while the Team Star story was nothing to write home about, by the end I did feel attached to this group of misfits, and Penny’s relationship with them is so sweet. Like, when after the game you can join her looking after the team Star bosses to see if they’re doing well in school, it’s so adorable. What I like about Penny though is how surprisingly sassy she is. Freaking hacker Otaku with no chill, I love it.

Then, Nemona. She’s like the epitome of a “nice” rival. I like that from the start it’s established that she is a great trainer, since she already has the Champion title, but the fact she chooses to start from scratch to grow alongside you just screams how much she loves battling and respects a good journey. She wants you to be the best because she sees your potential and she just knows she’ll have the best battle in her life if she helps you out. She’s a mix of a rival/mentor character, who at the same time kind of has a screw loose since battling is all she thinks about. But it all comes from an honest place and the fact she doesn’t act as a cheerleader and actually challenges you in battle when you’re not ready for it, makes her a great rival.

Lastly, Arven. (BIG spoilers) My sweet baby boy, I cannot believe Game Freak dumped so much trauma on you. It was obvious from the start that he had some parental issues, I did not expect it to be year long neglect. I mean, he hasn’t seen the prof in YEARS and has NO memories of playing together with his parent? And apparently his other parent walked out on them the MOMENT he was born??? Then he gets a dying dog, which thankfully got better (it did make me teary eyed by the end ngl) but then the one who’s actually dead is the PROFESSOR???? I hate how quickly he got over the fact, the dude just found out his parent who he hasn’t seen in years is fucking DEAD and has been for YEARS. I mean, I’m happy this makes him find new ambition and a new path in life but fuck me, let the boy process this for a bit.

But yeah, Arven’s story was my fav (im very weak for dogs ok.) Though, all coming together in the end and you running alongside your friends down the Great Crater was so damn cute istg. And the dialogue between them, getting to know each other, is so damn good. You see some different sides of them, showing interest in someone else but you, and it gives them some more dimension, I love it.

Now if Game Freak just FINALLY added voice acting, at least for the damn CUTSCENES, I’d be the happiest. Like dude, that last emotional cutscene really needed some raw emotional voice deliveries.

But yeah, all in all, Scarlet and Violet has a ton of fucking problems, but it also has a lot of good sides to it. Now if Game Freak just took it’s fucking time and accepted some help, they truly could make a great game from the get go.

Most popular story: “Jason Todd...Ghostbuster?” with a total of 366 kudos and 4854 hits! (Though I will admit, I was hit with a kudos bot last year, so my kudos are skewed unfortunately)

Story I’m most proud of: Again, “Jason Todd...Ghostbuster?” has to be the one I’m most proud of because it’s my longest one with almost 50k words and I’m not even half-way through what I have planned!

Funniest: It’s a toss up between “What Do Bees Make?” and “More Than Meets the Eye.” WDBM? was a crack fic I wrote at midnight because I love the ‘What do bees make? Honey? Yes, Dear?’ gag. MTMTE is also funny because I love writing Karliah just growing increasingly exasperated at the stupid and weird things about Duna (my Dragonborn for the fic).

Saddest: "To Live Another Life,” hands down. I wrote this after a friend mentioned how if you go back to the prison cell you start off in with the Alternate Start Skyrim mod, there’s a skeleton in the bed, kinda implying you had died and were reincarnated into your current character. Legit teared up when I wrote it. (I was also (lovingly) shamed by my friend who beta’d it because I wrote the draft in Comic Sans)

Least Popular: “More Than Meets the Eye,” but I expected it because it’s an OC story. However, I am pleased to see I have some subscribers for it! Also, funny thing to note. One of my friends had actually read this fic before I told them I wrote fanfiction.

Most Cringe-worthy: I try to be proud of what I wrote, so I’m gonna take a page out of wordsofawanderingsoul’s book and go with fics that were out of my comfort zone. “To Live Another Life” was definitely something that was new territory because I had never written second-person POV before. It was a fun exercise, and I’m happy with how it turned out.

Favorite opening line(s): From “What Do Bees Make?” “They’re totally into each other.”

“I don’t think they are.”

“Apollo, I can literally hear the affection in their voices,” Athena deadpanned as she pointed to her ear. “Plus, you still can’t accept the fact that Klavier has been flirting with you since day one, so I'm taking your opinion with a grain of salt right now.”

OHHH THIS ONE'S AN INTERESTING QUESTION!!! I really want to get In a Manor of Speaking fully developed as a story because I'm so close to actually finishing it in my brain. So I've been thinkin about that a lot!

First of all is Merrick. They're the LEAST developed character, aside from maybe Arcade, in IAMOS, which is a shame because they were like. One of the first characters I put into the story. I do have some really good ideas on things to do with them, I just need to work it out in more detail. This funny lil guy deserves a story. And also a personality,

Next is Violetta! She's like the main antagonist of one half of arc 5 and I still don't really know much about her. I know her plot and her basic personality. But there's so much more I need to learn about her. I'm very very excited to find out more about her

More Trans HCs w/Shinshinkai Squad bc I am once again reminded of the idiots and how much I love them:

Katsumi:

I'd say Demi-guy, using he/they

Parents never made a big deal out of it, he doesn't either

Their main thing about clothing isn't what gender it is so much as how well it fits and works for combat. This is also why a lot of cis people don't clock them unless Katsumi brings it up.

Outside of constant workouts and martial arts, he wears more 'feminine' styles and dramatic colors, but not a lot of bright patterns.

Suedo:

Genderfluid vibes, probably uses a neo-pronoun like ze/zir

A lot of unresolved issues with it, shoves them down and pushes all of zir feelings into anger and violence, has been working on mellowing out again. Is used to seeing the idea of being trans as shameful and evidence of unmanliness and therefore a failure.

Doesn't really want to tell people. Ze knows that ze looks very much like a stereotypical guy and doesn't plan on surgery or HRT anytime soon.

Zir's constant conflict over what clothing is and isn't acceptable and how 'unmasculine' ze is allowed to behave eases up when ze's around friends.

Katou:

Look, y'all know I'm never gonna stop seeing Katou as a trans girl

Much like Suedo, she constantly pushes her feelings about dysphoria down and channels everything into fighting. Even though she personally doesn't see it as 'shameful' to be trans the way Suedo sometimes does, she knows that the martial arts world won't respect her and the idea that a woman could want to fight is still relatively new to some of the masters.

She doesn't dress very feminine in general but there's some nicer tops and skirts and exactly one dress that she loves. Unfortunately, she's not gonna be wearing them out anytime soon.

Leaves her hair longer to combat the dysphoria. Later starts putting it in a braid like Retsu's.

Group:

They all talk about it eventually, but it's in little bits and pieces. Katou tells Suedo before she tells anyone else, Suedo talks to her when ze finally figures zirself out, Katsumi comes out to both of them and they tell him a short while later.

Katsumi, having not grown up with any major stigmas attached to the concept, is the first to come out to Doppo. They know that Suedo and Katou see him as a father figure and that his response to Katsumi could easily make or break their chances of staying at the Shinshinkai.

Katou learned how to apply different kinds of makeup in the States and teaches Suedo when ze expresses interest. They both like to wear subtle eyeliners.

She's also the one who helps Katsumi through the occasional bouts of dysphoria they deal with, usually by making the kid some soup and having them hold her cat.

Suedo and Katsumi get into silly arguments over what clothing does and doesn't look good. Suedo technically has a better eye, but ze still struggles with zir insecurity and has a hard time wearing anything that ze picks out. Katsumi's taste, while more bland, is also less panic-inducing.

Suedo's way of helping Katou through dysphoric episodes usually involves getting her favorite hoodie out and making sure she can channel all of her hurt into healthier combat, like sparring together instead of letting her punch brick walls.

Katsumi always texts Katou stupid trans memes and jokes he finds online because he knows she'll roll her eyes but find them funny.

They don't do quite the same for Suedo just yet, but they always send zir positive trans news and any updates about where ze could find gnc and/or feminine clothing that would fit zir.

Doppo taking Katsumi's news well leads to Katou coming out a month later. Unlike the calm chat he gets to have with Katsumi, Katou almost spits the fact out and immediately goes quiet, with a part of her still convinced that the other shoe is going to drop any second now. He can't say anything before she storms out. It's not until the next day, when he commends her work using the new name and pronouns that she relaxes a little and smiles for the first time.

Suedo stays after that lesson to also come out. Ze's even more awkward about it than Katou, but ze stays long enough that Doppo can convince zir that he accepts all three of them no matter what.

16. If you could steal the basic plot of an episode for one show and apply to another which would you choose?

Huh... good question. I did mention on my main how I would LOVE to see a TOS version of the TNG episode Attached. Specifically I mentioned Spock and McCoy in part for shipping reasons, but even in a general sense they'd be by far the most fun and interesting to see in that dilemma. It would also allow them to develop more of an understanding, so you have character development as well. The episode in TNG didn't do it for me because I don't ship Picard and Crusher whatsoever and while I like their general relationship, the episode didn't really provide anything new for me to care about. But I would be ALL for it if it was int hat scenario or any combo of the Triumvirate really, I just think that Spock and McCoy would be the most entertaining/interesting considering their bickering XD

19. You can undo one plot point, which do you choose?

Good question... well, of the series I've seen thus far:

TOS: The upside to TOS is that for the most part if you don't like something, you can safely ignore it due to the show not being continuity heavy. If I had to get rid of something... I'd undo the stupid 'women can't be Starship captains' bullshit from The Turnabout Intruder. Which I'm fairly sure most everything that takes place in TOS or earlier also ignores it and for good reason because for a future society to have that kind of rule is so stupid. It's only there cause 60's sexism, and it feels like the episode was trying to prove that 'see? women are too emotional and unstable to be captains'. You can certainly put a new view on it in the modern times, I've seen plenty that still work. But for a show that was progressive in so many ways, its treatment of women in general could be horrendous, and the fact that the series ended with it is a shame.

AOS: There's SO many things that I would undo if I could. If I have to pick one... I'd get rid of Vulcan's destruction. I still don't get the point of why they did that except to give Spock angst. It and fridging Amanda like they did just felt overly cruel and didn't really have any impact in the long-run. Spock had enough angst cause of being half-human and the bullying he received, was destroying his whole planet and race and killing hos mother necessary whatsoever when you had plenty to work with? No. It didn't. You could have had Vulcan attacked and massive casualties and damage, the extent it went was just too much imo.

TNG: I wanna list almost everything in Generations... but I haven't seen it in full so I'll stick to things in the show I've seen. In which case, I pick them killing off K'Ehleyr. An interesting, badass female character with her own struggles who really shined in her two episodes... and they fridge her for Worf's character and to dump a kid on him. While the scene in itself is well done, and you feel the agony and rage that Worf feels when he finds the body (thank you Michael Dorn), I was so freakin' angry it's not even funny. It had long-term impact, I'll give it that, but I'm still angry about it. I wish it had at least been done as an ending of K'Ehleyr's story and give her that agency, not just for Worf's character plot.

Buffy first!

Favorite character: Faith Lehane. I'm pretty sure I loved her from the moment we were introduced to her, but over the years she's become my favorite character of all time.

Funniest character: I have to say Xander. Now that I'm past hating him for no good reason, he's genuinely funny and endearing when he's not being a stupid teenager (with obvious problems).

Best-looking character: I'm not gonna say Faith again (even tho I could) so we'll say Giles. Now that I'm no longer a teen myself, he's *very attractive* to me.

Top 3 ships: Bangel forever 💖, Willow/Tara, and Willow/Oz (helps that I'm very fond of Willow, Tara, and Oz separately, as well)

Least favorite character: this is a little petty, but it's gotta be Glory for me. I just never really cared for her and I don't get why such a big portion of the fandom loves her. 🤷‍♀️

Least favorite ship: Spuffy. I just don't like the way it was handled.

Reason why I watch: it's been over 10 years. I'm here forever at this point. (it's not strictly nostalgia, but)

Why I started watching: I just caught it on TV one night. I had never really heard of it, but I had had a vampire phase in middle school (I was a sophomore at the time) and it sounded neat. My first episode was the season 1 finale, "Prophecy Girl", and I was hooked from then on.

Angel now!

Favorite character: Wesley Wyndam-Pryce, followed *very* closely by Cordelia Chase. They both had such great character growth in the first couple of seasons, it's a shame the writing got in the way. (half-joking)

Funniest character: probably Cordy again. I've laughed out loud at so many of her lines, and she's so blunt about everything, too.

Best-looking character: season 4 Wesley. Like, I'm into him no matter what, but the styling for him in season 4 is *chef's kiss*

Top 3 ships: the only ship I'm really invested in is Fred/Gunn (used to be very into Fred/Wesley, but not anymore). I have a ship tag for Angel/Wes, but honestly that's just me-specific brain rot. :3

Least favorite character: I actually don't think I have one. There isn't anyone coming to mind who I just can't stand. Surprising for me, really.

Least favorite ship: Jasmine!Cordelia/Connor. I think that's how you'd specify this one. I just hate knowing that it happened at all. Gross.

Reason why I watch: Again. It's been 10 years.

Why I started watching: I was watching Buffy and I found out Angel (who I also love) had gotten his own show, so I started watching it when I was somewhere around season 3 or 4 of BTVS. (started with a questionable episode, too lol. "Expecting" from season. The only plus from that is that it got me fully obsessed with Wes and Cordy as characters)

Oohhh nicee!! I know March, ash, don are major fan favorites from what I have seen? But it flip flops alot because then we have about you and shadow sometimes popping up at the top bside wise and I think its just fun to see what fans like and enjoy from bsides! Especially with how sometimes different they can sound and it fits peoples tastes and such. For me I'm leaning towards ash and March along with shadow but hot? Omg my most overplayed song rn like YouTube is very much side eyeing me with how many times I watched the mv, dance, 8d version, everything lol xD it is a fun song and yes, I cannot help but do the body roll while humming the song and doing the dishes lolol. I believe the comeback was short? Sorry am a bit behind with svt news as I'm all over the place personally which is a shame but also I do know they have their tour so maybe that could be why as well? Despite it being short promotion wise, I am happy with it because of all the praise this album got and as mention, jun, hao and seungkwan are all getting alot of attention!! Don't get me wrong, I think everyone very much owned this era and everyone is chefs kiss but those 3 to me are the most stand outs if you will? Like their aura on stage is just SOOO fun to watch and I always hold my breath as cliche as that sounds xD (funny about the no showing with seungkwan jdjwjdjsj he showed a lil bit according to boo fans so he has joined the dark side lol) especially since like for seungkwan and jun they aren't always like, shared outside of their bubble of being performers more like the funny people with the memes ya know what I mean? (Idk if I am explaining this correctly fnsndjsj) people are being drawn into their performance and its so nice to see people going 'why hello there who is this!?' And I get all giddy and happy because its nice to see them being praised as performers! Like you said, jun's fancams are getting alot of love and as he should! lol i also do the point choreo whenever i'm listening to it and i'm by myself, it's just too addicting dfkjhg yeah the promotion period was a bit short most bc of concert preparation, their seoul concert is in like a week believe it or not. but it also it seems like their last several comebacks have had shorter promotional periods, which i'm guessing is a combination of them being an older/well known group + focusing more on western/international promotions in recent years

yeah i mean not everyone was explicitly calling him a fuckboy all the time. tbf i also joined the fandom in 2017, but from what i've gathered predebut through 2016 was when the worst of that kind of stuff was going on in the fandom (including other just... bad jokes lmao). but his image even back in 2017 was definitely more along the lines of "handsome guy who's really confident/narcissistic" than it was "funny goofy guy". like it's not to say that ppl didn't talk about him being goofy back then but it just wasn't his main image if that makes sense. and even if he was seen as goofy he definitely wasn't seen as innocent by the majority of the fandom back then lol

thank you! i'm not familiar with vividseats but yes hopefully it works out and you're able to go! and yeah if you want a lightstick you have to rush straight to the merch booth as soon as the doors open, no time to go to your seats first lol! but me and my friend did manage to each get one. we were near the doors when they opened but not like the first ones to go in and we went directly to the merch booth. i think there were like ~8 lines at the one booth we went to and maybe 10 or so people in each line before we got there? i was with 3 other people and only me and one other friend wanted a lightstick but all 4 of us each got in separate lines to placehold in case one moved faster. my two friends that weren't buying anything got out of line once we all started getting closer to the front. but it ended up working out and me and my friend both got lightsticks!
