💘 + hangman "sharing a bed. then making up more excuses to share a bed after that night just to wake up next to their roommate in the mornings." from the "and they were roommates!" list <3
thank you for your patience! mentions of alcohol but i think that’s it. i had a lot of fun with this one and i hope you like it <3 - [1.2k] | join the party!
It was a one off fluke. Well…it was supposed to be. It was going to be until you realized that there was something sweet in waking up next to your roommate in the morning.
It didn’t have anything to do with the crush that had just rooted itself in your chest, at least that’s what you told yourself.
That first morning was sweet until you remembered why you were sharing a bed and a wave of embarrassment came over you like a tidal wave.
You’d come home from a night out, absolutely plastered. In the haze of your memories, you can vaguely remember one of your friends using your phone to call Jake while you were out at the bar. He’d picked up on the first ring and you could hear his voice saying your name like a question over the phone.
“Is that Jake?” your words were slurred but your eyes were bright and shining. Your friend shushed you gently and readjusted your phone against their ear. You tried to grab for it and they turned away from you, keeping their free hand wrapped around your arm.
You can’t remember much of what was said in the conversation, only that your friend told him you needed a ride home and that Jake was already out the door. You squirmed in your friend’s grip, reaching for the phone again. “Lemme talk to ‘im.”
In a blink, your phone was back in your possession but the call had ended. You think you remember frowning at the screen when you noticed.
“C’mon, he’s gonna be here soon,” your friend said, tugging you towards the entrance of the bar you were at. Sure enough, he’d arrived not even five minutes later. He looked a little tired, fighting off sleep while he waited up for you to come home.
“Jake!” it came out in something close to a gasp, a great big smile lifting your cheeks. Your inhibitions were low as you stumbled towards him and all but collapsed against him, his arms coming around your waist to catch you. His t-shirt was soft against your cheek and you remember keeping your nose pressed against his chest for an almost embarrassingly long time because he smelled so good.
He’d smiled and nodded at your friend in a quiet thanks before he led you to his car. You had held your breath while he buckled you in and tried to focus on one point on the horizon to wade off the nausea creeping up. Jake let you lean most of your weight against him as he helped you inside and to your room where you collapsed onto your bed.
As soon as your head hit the mattress you felt a sleepiness take hold, your eyelids feeling heavier with each blink. You’d groaned when Jake made you go into the bathroom to change for bed and he’d helped you take your makeup off when you were too stubborn to do it yourself.
When you were all settled into bed, advil and water on your bedside table for the morning, he’d turned off your lamp and got up to leave. You feel a slight bit embarrassed when you recall asking him to stay with you before he could leave the room. You hadn’t really expected him to agree, but he did.
You lift your head off the pillow and it immediately begins to throb, making your face scrunch up and your eyes squeeze closed. Through the building tension, you remember the water and pain relievers he’d set out for you on your nightstand. Your eyes peel open just enough for you to grab them and swallow the pills down with water.
After setting the water back down, you look over at Jake sleeping in the spot next to you. He looks so serene, features completely relaxed and his face slightly smushed against your spare pillow. His hair’s a bit of a tousled mess from sleep and the sight of it makes you smile.
“Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” he mumbles, eyes still closed. His voice is deeper in the morning, this you already knew but hearing it immediately after he wakes up, in your bed no less, makes a thick, gooey warmth cloud your chest. You roll your eyes, though he can’t see it, fighting off the embarrassment tickling your nerves at having been caught staring at your sleeping roommate.
“I didn’t think you’d stay,” you say after you’ve laid back down. His eyes blink open and he’s quiet for a minute. He holds your gaze for a minute, lets it wander across your face and then back to your eyes. He shrugs best he can, laying on his side.
“You asked,” he says simply, like it’s obvious. You swallow and nod. He looks over your features once more, almost like he’s committing them to memory, and Jake realizes he likes having you to wake up next to.
After that first morning, the two of you find almost any excuse you can to share a bed at night.
You can’t sleep and knock on his door in the middle of the night, complaining of a minor nightmare. Jake puts his sheets in the wash and claims he doesn’t have a made bed to sleep in, despite the spare set of sheets in the closet. He hosts movie night in his room under the guise of the couch suddenly being too small.
Slowly, over the course of many nights and phases of the moon, something in your dynamic shifts. He’s a lot more touchy with you, his fingers lingering against your skin. You get braver by kissing his cheek before you get out of bed the last few times.
It’s an unspoken change, one neither of you really feel the need to address. That is, until excuse number fifteen—the storm outside might make you lose power and it’s better to just sleep in the same bed in case that happens—and he’s holding you in his bed.
The rain splashes against the windows, flashes of lightning lighting up the room as thunder cracks overhead. It’s quiet though in the comfort of his sheets. You can’t decide if you’re starting to prefer his mattress to yours. A hum of your name breaks you from your thoughts and you adjust your head to meet his eye.
“I’ve been thinking,” he starts and you try to bite back a smirk.
“That’s never good,” you muse. He laughs and shakes his head.
“I’ve been thinking,” he restates. There’s the beginnings of a nervous blush creeping across his cheeks. “Maybe we should do this…permanently.”
You blink at him, eyes a little wide. “This, like, sharing a bed this?”
He nods and you think this is the first time you’ve ever seen your roommate so nervous. You start to smile. You make him nervous. The thought makes you feel giddy inside.
“Yeah. Okay,” you agree and you can feel him physically relax against you. “Now you can stop lying about not having sheets on your bed or the couch being too small.”
He rolls his eyes, but there’s a smile on his face and a laugh bubbling past his lips. He’s just glad he gets to wake up to you every morning now on purpose.

A few of my Sonadow headcanon’s for you guys lmao here we go
1) Shadow doesn’t sleep like ever because he’s the ultimate life form and finds it to be a waste of his time. However, Sonic usually has trouble falling asleep because brain move too fast, so Shadow will pet him and scratch his fur to lull him to sleep. Sometimes Sonic returns the favor and it makes Shadow tired and he’ll fall asleep too.
2) Sonic has made Shadow (and eventually their kids) heart shaped pancakes every Valentines Day since they started dating at like age 17.
3) Sonic and Shadow didn’t have pre-decided names for any of their children, but just named them based off what was happening around them.
4) Shadow absolutely HATES the words “dude” and “bro”. Sonic finds it hilarious to see how worked up Shadow can get over it.
5) Shadow uses 50’s slang. One time he asked Sonic if he wanted to “play back seat bingo at the passion pit” and Sonic just stared at him for several minutes out of pure confusion.
6) Even though there was a proper proposal, Sonic and Shadow don’t have a wedding. Neither of them are into such a giant event that will most likely get disturbed by Eggman or the paparazzi. So instead they got eloped. They do have a party with all of their friends and family afterwards though.
7) They needed a witness at their elopement, so Tails was invited to be Sonic’s best man.
8) Considering the line of work they’re both in, Sonic and Shadow don’t wear their wedding rings on their fingers but instead on chain necklaces.
9) Shadow loves gift giving. If he sees anything that reminds him of Sonic even just a little bit, you bet he’s gonna spend a ridiculous amount of money. Sonic is slowly running out of room in their house for all of the gifts.
10) Sonic and Shadow both have PTSD because there ain’t no damn way they do every thing they’ve done and DON’T develop any kind of long lasting trauma from it.
11) Sonadow has a Christmas tradition of trying to catch one another under the mistletoe but they race and spar with each other and the loser has to give the winner a kiss under the mistletoe.
12) Their first date was at an ice skating rink. It was Sonic’s idea until he got there and realized he can’t skate. Boy hasn’t skated a single day in his life. It works out in his favor though cause like he gets to hold hands with Shadow the whole time.
13) Sonadow doesn’t necessarily fight often. They bicker a lot. But when they do have a fight, it’s bad. Someone sleeping on the couch bad. They kiss and make up eventually though.
14) Sonic will HARDCORE anoint himself all over Shadow. Just aggressively rub and nuzzle for ages until he’s satisfied enough with the amount of Shadow’s scent that’s on him.
15) Sonic is bi and trans while Shadow is gay. They go to the pride festival every year and Team Sonic/Team Dark are big LGBTQ+ allies.
16) Sonic has ARFID and Shadow always makes sure that there are plenty of safe foods stocked up. (Even those dreaded chili dogs)
17) If Sonadow were to be asked what their favorite features on their partner is, Sonic would talk about how much he loves Shadow’s smile and Shadow would mention how much he adores Sonic’s eyes.
18) Shadow’s top 3 favorite bands/artists (imo) are Tame Impala, The Platters, and MCR
19) Sonic has ADHD
20) Shadow and Sonic are absolute kings at karaoke. In fact, Sonic realized he had a big gross gay crush on Shadow because he heard him sing “My Way” by Frank Sinatra at karaoke with all of their friends while very very drunk.

Shera Fandom Fic-Recs
Here’s some fun recommendations for you! If you enjoy any of them, please make some writers happy and let them know in the Comments!
The Fraternization of the Fiend and the Flibbertigibbet: At his very core, Hordak is a conqueror. He will do whatever is needed in order to win, whether that entails building an empire out of a broken ship, attempting to clone his failing body, or even marrying an Etherian princess to secure advanced weaponry.
Prisoner: The raid on the Fright Zone was a resounding success. They got Adora back. They got the sword back. Nobody managed to open any reality-destroying portals. And somehow, amid all the chaos, thrown lab equipment, and pieces of ceiling raining down on their heads, they got Hordak. Now Hordak is in the spare room. Hordak. What in the world are they supposed to do with him?
Aftermath: Building a Life for (Dummies) Clones: Horde Prime is dead. Etheria is safe. The clones are free. Now what?
Intimacy Log: Hordak’s body is finally his own. Now he just needs to figure out what he wants to do with it. Thankfully, Entrapta is here to help.
Double Date: Adora and Catra (mostly Adora) invite Hordak and Entrapta to have dinner at their house. Not one of them possesses an ounce of social grace, but somehow, they have a good time anyway.
Tremble Before Her: With both their commanding officers gone, the remnants of Catra's old squad find themselves turning to an unlikely ally: Entrapta.
Love and Blindness: Entrapta knows Hordak's fate isn't decided yet, and she can't keep him safe if he's dragged off to a jail cell to face charges.  So, she spirits him away off the battlefield.  It is a desperate choice, one she knows her friends will not understand.  But she's already lost him once. She can't lose him a second time.
Birth... Or at least, what passes for it among our people: After the Great Disconnect, the Velvet Glove drifts idly in stable Etherian orbit.  Turned into a verdant jungle by She Ra, it exists as both a ship and living vegetation, and it is still home to a small group of Brothers who never came down to the planet's surface. There are many mysteries aboard the Glove, now commonly called the "Velvet Grove" by those who live there.  And one of the greatest mysteries is....what happened to all those cloned Brothers who were silently sleeping and growing in their vitrines?
Care and Habilitation of Your Ex-Horde Clone: In which a well-meaning Etherian woman volunteers to adopt a cloned Brother; and, due to the nature of this Brother's designation, there is a Misunderstanding on what that entails.
Frozen Fervor: In the throne room of Castle Chill,  Entrapta finds herself lonely and disappointed amid a throng of partying aristocrats. Surmisably, an oddball “geek princess”, whose kingdom has not yet joined the Alliance and at the same time engages into active trade with the Fright Zone, garners little acceptance in the “All Princess Ball.” In spite of the Alliance’s demands, a quiet leave-taking might serve as her best option. Meanwhile, a shadowy creature waits for a storm to abate, so he can journey to the arctic regions to court a Princess with whom he has desperately fallen in love, hoping against hope he will not arrive too late…

I think part of the tragedy of Catra and Hordak's relationship is that Catra might've been subconsciously hoping to find a father-figure in Hordak... But Hordak never once considered anyone other than Imp wanting or needing him in that role.
Mother-Shadow Weaver had made it abundantly clear that she'd never love Catra... But there's Hordak. The Higher Authority, the Bigger Bad, the looming-yet-mostly-absent male authority-figure in Catra's life... Granting her respect and approval and the Force Captain badge she's always wanted.
But it doesn't last.
She needed a mentor, but he hides in his lab and leaves her the face the wolves and the terrifying mountain of files and paperwork ALONE!
She needs guidance and advice; he's got violence and discipline to offer.
She needs a hand up to help her grow, and Hordak is an obstacle keeping her from the top of the ladder.
.
But why WOULD Hordak act fatherly towards a random soldier, like many other soldiers in his command?
He had no hand is raising her, beyond perhaps creating and approving resources for the Horde's orphanage/military academy.
He keeps ALL his subordinates at arm's length! He expects EVERYBODY to just do their jobs, without him holding their hands through it!
He's balancing atop a house of cards, hiding weaknesses and future plans, and he knows it.
Should he attempt *bonding* with an ambitious up-and-comer that his spy-son has proven to be untrustworthy? Does he even know how to *bond,* if he wanted to?
Was he expected to train somebody to replace him? He's sidestepped Shadow Weaver's attempts at power-grabbing for years. Was he meant to make it easy for her freahly-graduated student?
.
Hordak was never going to be Catra's Dad. I suspect that if she had any self-acknowledged hopes to that effect... The hopes were killed quickly.
The tragedy is, I can understand why she might have wanted that.
The tragedy is, I can see why the matter never once occured to him.

My #1 post of 2022
Please Imagine the CumPlane Dynamic, as envisioned by Luo Mobei Jun, who knows that SQQ and SQH were acquainted in a past life, but is slightly confused on some of the details.
SQH, working at the "Teashop"(Brothel): Why are you here?
Shen Yuan: I am a paying customer, and I am here to drink tea at a tea-shop. This tea is weak, low-quality, and overpriced, by the way. WHY is this place so popular; I swear, this is not worth my money!
SQH: You are welcome to leave at any time, thank you for the entry-fee and for buying tea. Would you like to buy any of our... Special Snacks?
SY: Some tea-cakes would be lovely. You DO have good cakes here, even if the quality went significantly downhill since my favorite cook switched to 'dancing' in the VIP section. Waste of talent if you ask me; cooking is MUCH more enjoyable than anything else. But while I'm on the topic, you should redecorate, because there are FAR TOO MANY FLOWERS decorating that wall, and...
SQH: You can have input on the decorations IF you're willing to pay a SIGNIFICANT amount of money for the privilege. Now drink your tea and stop trying to scare away our customers.
SY: There's ANOTHER thing. The customers are so rude and loud! I'm certain that you could attract a better quality of client if you just take all my advice, improve the tea and the snacks, and change almost everything else to my specifications! As I said previously, if that one dancer would go back to cooking those delicious delicacies again...
SQH: We will not be changing things unless tea suddenly becomes more profitable than sex. Do you have ANYTHING you'd rather be doing right now?
SY: Nope; I have a lot of money and time on my hands, and I am fully prepared to sit here drinking tea and complaining about every single, solitary thing until you close. Now, I've prepared an hour-long speech on why your best dancer should go back to being the best cook in town...
SQH, aside: (I'd tell him to marry that dancer if he loved the food so much, but s/he's our biggest money-maker, and I am NOT about to risk my revenue on his weird romantic obsessions.)

Hi, @reve13, I promised to tell you about the Russian holidays, I hope it comes in handy and will be fun😉:
1. The very first in the year and the most widely celebrated holiday is the Novyy god (New Year).
It's celebrated on the night of December 31 to January 1. New Year holidays (weekends) last from January 1 to January 8. New Year is a secular holiday loved by almost all the inhabitants of the country, regardless of nationality or religion.
According to tradition, a few days before the New Year it is customary to install and decorate the fir-tree, as well as the house. As a rule, when the New Year is celebrated, close people gather at the New Year's table, usually on the evening of December 31 of the outgoing year.
The coming of the new year and the actual beginning of the celebration is marked by the Kremlin Clock striking twelve, i.e. midnight Moscow Time preceded by the New Year Address by President of Russia and followed by the playing of the National Anthem of Russia.
The most popular dishes of the New Year's table in Russia are "Olivier" salad (Russian salad), "Selyodka pod Shuboi" salad (Herring under a fur coat), Kholodets (aspic), caviar, champagne, tangerines, etc. Popular hot dishes include a roasted pig, roasted meat chunks, goose with apples, chicken stuffed with buckwheat and mushrooms, sour cream hare, venison, lamb, whole fish, etc...
Gifts to Russian children and adults are brings by Ded Moroz (Grandfather Frost). This is a character of Slavic fairy-tale folklore. In its origins, he is a pagan personification of the forces of nature (winter and frost) and a wizard. Ded Moroz is depicted as an old man in a colored - blue, blue, red or white coat, with a long white beard and a staff in his hand, in felt boots. He rides three horses. Usually comes accompanied by his granddaughter, Snegurochka (Snow Maiden), who helps him. Snegurochka is also a fabulous folk character. At holidays, acts as an intermediary between children and Ded Moroz. Sometimes portrayed as a little girl, sometimes an adolescent. She wears long silver-blue robes and a furry cap or a snowflake-like crown. They can also be accompanied by forest animals.
We also have very popular fireworks. After midnight, it may resemble a small colorful war, hee hee.
2. Christmas in Russia (Russian Orthodox Church), commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, is celebrated on 7 January in the Gregorian calendar. Christmas is considered a high holiday by the Russian Orthodox Church. On Christmas Eve, 6 January, there are several long services, including the Royal Hours and Vespers combined with the Divine Liturgy. The family will then return home for the traditional Christmas Eve "Holy Supper", which consists of 12 dishes, one to honour each of the Twelve Apostles. Devout families will then return to church for the "всенощная" All Night Vigil. Then again, on Christmas Morning, for the "заутренняя" Divine Liturgy of the Nativity. This holiday is important for religious Orthodox Christians.

3. St. Valentine's Day is a holiday of Catholic origin, which is celebrated on February 14 in many countries of the world. Named after one of two early Christian martyrs with the name Valentine.
Those who celebrate this holiday give their beloved and dear people gifts, flowers, sweets, toys, balloons and special cards (often in the shape of a heart) with verses, love confessions or wishes of love - Valentine. This holiday gained popularity in the 90s in Russia. It is not a public holiday or a day off, but rather widely celebrated by young people.
Сompetition for Valentine's Day is All-Russian Day of Family, Love and Faithfulness (The Day of Saint Peter and Saint Fevronia). This holiday is celebrated on July 8th. Its symbol is a white daisy. The history of the spouses of Peter and Fevronia is the embodiment of the unquenchable love and loyalty. This date are trying to popularize , because many Russians dislike the foreign Valentine's Day, which is called commercial.

4. Defender of the Fatherland Day (День защитника Отечества) is a holiday observed in Russia on 23 February.
Officially, as the name suggests, the holiday celebrates people who are serving or were serving the Russian Armed Forces (both men and women, both military and civilian personnel), but unofficially, nationally it has also come to include the celebration of men as a whole, and to act as a counterpart of International Women's Day on March 8. Because the majority of men in Russia undergo mandatory short military service.
The holiday is celebrated with parades and processions in honor of veterans, and women also give small gifts to men in their lives, especially husbands (or boyfriends, fiances), fathers, sons and brothers. As a part of the workplace culture, women often give small gifts to their male co-workers. State day off.
5. International Women's Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year. It appeared as a day of women's solidarity in the struggle for equal rights and emancipation. State day off. The celebration of March 8 in Russia includes the established tradition of giving women flowers and other gifts.

6. Maslenitsa (Мaсленица) is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, which has retained a number of elements of Slavic mythology in its ritual, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent, that is, the eighth week before Eastern Orthodox Pascha. The date of Maslenitsa changes every year depending on the date of the celebration of Easter. The traditional attributes of the Maslenitsa celebration are the scarecrow of Maslenitsa (which burn), making visits, sleigh rides, dressing up, bonfires, snowball fights, the capture of the Snow Fortress, festivities. Russians people bake pancakes and tortillas. It is customary to eat them with various fillings and share with friends.
7. The Russian Orthodox Church celebrates Easter (Paskha/Пасха) according to the Orthodox calendar, and so it can occur in April or May. Russians celebrate Easter with decorated eggs, special foods, and customs. The day before Easter all churches hold night services and organize religious processions around churches. By that time, kulich, the traditional holiday baking symbolizing the body of Christ, had been already baked and Easter eggs painted. The morning starts from visiting neighbors and giving away Easter eggs. The common phrase you can hear on that day is: "Khristos voskres!" (Christ is risen!), which is to be followed by "Voistinu voskres" (Truly He is risen! This traditional greeting followed by hugging and triple kissing is called "kiss of peace". Christian Easter feast lasts seven days and is called the Holy Week or Sedmitsa.
Tumblr media
8. Spring and Labor Day. 1st May Day in its present form arose in the middle of the 19th century in the labor movement, which put forward the introduction of an eight-hour working day as one of the main requirements. In today's Russia, the holiday has lost its original political character. Some political parties and labor unions may have demonstrations on this day, but most Russians use Spring and Labor Day for gardening or spending time with their families. It is also common for people to have picnics or barbecues. Men may give spring flowers, especially tulips and lilacs, to women, and parents may buy balloons and ice-cream to their children to celebrate the end of the cold season in Russia. 1 May is a public holiday.
9. Victory Day. May 9, Russia celebrates the victory over Nazi Germany, while remembering those who died in order to achieve it. On 9 May 1945 (by Moscow time) the German military surrendered to the Soviet Union and the Allies of World War II in Berlin. Victory Day is by far one of the biggest Russian holidays. It commemorates those who died in World War II and pays tribute to survivors and veterans. Flowers and wreaths are laid on wartime graves and special parties and concerts are organized for veterans. In the evening there is a firework display. A huge ground and air military parade, hosted by the President of the Russian Federation, is annually organized in Moscow on Red Square. Similar ground, air and marine parades are organized in several other Russian cities. It’s a public holiday.
Tumblr media
10. Russia Day (День России/Den Rossii) National Day, celebrated on 12 June. On this day, in 1991, Russian parliament formally declared Russian sovereignty from the Soviet Union.
11. Unity Day (День народного единства/Denʹ narodnava yedinstva) is a national holiday in Russia held on November 4. It commemorates the popular uprising which expelled Polish–Lithuanian occupation forces from Moscow in November 1612, and more generally the end of the Time of Troubles. The day's name alludes to the idea that all classes of Russian society united to preserve Russian statehood when there was neither a tsar nor a patriarch to guide them.
Celebrations of these days are accompanied by: Flag hoisting, parades, fireworks, award ceremonies, singing patriotic songs and the national anthem, speeches by the President, entertainment and cultural programs.

Masterpost of my fics on AO3
So I wanted to have a place to show off all my fics and I have finally gotten around to puttting them all on a list here so I can share it.
I hope some of you read my stuff and enjoy it. I had a lot of fun writing these, especially the memoir-esque on (Harry Potter and the Sexual Awakening) and my current WIP, Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy in Strange Magic becasue it’s sort of detective-noir/urban fantasy.
If you read any and like them, stop by and say hi!
1. Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy in Strange Magic (37K WIP update weekly, M/E)
Summary: It’s been five years since the Battle of Hogwarts and Harry Potter is an auror, who catches wind of a series of magical surges that he thinks are linked to something insidious, but with a mildly tarnished reputation, he has a hard time convincing people of the problem especially so soon after the war. Harry joins forces with unexpected allies to help him find the source of the magical surges and save the wizarding world again, even if it means going against the very Ministry for which he works.
Main Tags: auror!Harry, potionsmaster!Draco, case fic, slow burn/slow build, lots of angst and sadness (be warned), some triggers like mention of past rape/abuse, mystery, suicidal thoughts, detrustive behavior, EWE, bi!Harry, gay!Draco
2. A Series of Unfortunate Ghosts (26K, E)
Summary: It’s sixth year and Draco Malfoy’s life is about to change thanks to some meddlesome ghosts who show him the path he is on is not the only path for him. Between their ghoulish advice and some deep soul searching, Draco regains some of the hope he lost.
Main Tags: sixth year au, Christmas carol themed, established relationship, angst, mention of past abuse
3. The Beginning of Something to Savor (5K, M)
Summary: Draco is out to blow off steam when he spots Harry Potter, crying, at the bar. He goes over, like a good partner should, to check on Harry completely out of a sense of what is right and not at all having to do with Draco’s little crush.
Main Tags: auror partners, sexual tension, post Hogwarts
4. Say it Again (9K, M)
Summary: After Yule Ball (in 8th year), Draco finds himself at an after party on the Durmstrang ship locked in the headmasters bathroom. He is trying to calm himself down, manages it, but then Harry Potter throws a wrench in things.
Main Tags: 8th year, second triwizard tournament, Yule ball, first kiss, drinking games
5. An Invite to Dance (3K, T)
Summary: This is a Western AU where Draco (Drake Mal) has stolen a gun, his gun, back from Harry ( Golden Harold Potts).
Drake has been on the run, trying to stay ahead of Golden Harold Potts, but each time he thinks he’s outrun the sheriff, he finds himself face to face with his foe. Golden Harold caught up to him and interrupted his drink, so they duel.
Main Tags: western au, auror partners, POV Draco
6. Pride and Prejudice and Mr. Harry J. Potter (6K, T)
Summary: Draco Malfoy is on the outside of society life after his family was tried for aligning themselves with Voldemort. The only thing that saved him was the intervention of one Mr. Harry J. Potter, the wizarding worlds most well-regarded man. Draco, who has been smitten with Mr. Potter feels rejected and when meeting him at a ball, decides to manintain his dignity and refuse to engage with Mr. Potter. *This is a Pride and Prejudiuce inspired piece*
Main Tags: pride and prejudice au, dancing, banter, angst with a happy ending, fluff, one shot
7. Snow Falling on Us (5K, T)
Summary: This is a (belated) Christmas fic...I hope you all are still in the mood for it. It is Christmas Eve, Draco has roped Harry into helping him break into Snapes potions stores for an ingredient. Harry agrees because he owes Draco for all his help in potions. So invisibility cloak in hand, they head off to Snapes stores, but things go wrong and they end up in detention on Christmas Eve.
Main Tags: Christmas Eve, fluff, snowball fight
8. Seeker’s Games (7K, T)
Summary: Harry and Draco met on the pitch to play a seekers game. It turns into a regular thing and while it started as a way to get out frustrations and play quidditch since 8th years weren’t allowed on the house teams, it grew into something more.
Main Tags: 8th year, one shot, flirting, quidditch, seekers, midnight meetings, friends to lovers
9. Threats and Promises (11K WIP, E)
Summary: This is the Voldemort wins AU that no one asked for, and yet...Voldemort wins the war and takes Harry, Hermione, and Ron prisoner because he has decided they are more valuable alive, at least for now. They are kept at Malfoy Manor since Lucius has proven to be a resourceful and reliable minion. The task of torturing the trio for information on the whereabouts of any remaining rebels falls to Draco. This duty is one Draco willingly accepts. His other duties are much less pleasant. At least in the cellar, Draco has control and power over his captors—it is especially alluring when it comes to Harry.
**This is a WIP that is currently on pause while I finish other things
Main Tags: au Voldemort wins, prisoner Harry, torture, hate sex, violence, abuse
10. A Night on the Town (1K, M)

Main Tags: smut, limo sex, dirty talk, established relationship
11. When Desire Comes Calling (3K, M)
Summary: This is a one-shot based off of a prompt. "I'll be right back with your drinks," Harry mumbled, avoiding Draco's gaze and thanking the gods that he pretended not to know him. He wasn’t ready to acknowledge Draco just yet anyway. Almost getting caught & biting.
Main Tags: post Hogwarts, past relationship, Harry is a bartender, exhibitionism, public sex
12. Always Some Madness in Love (9K, T)
Summary: This is a collection of conversations that Harry has with people. I wanted to try and write a story from Harry's perspective, but only focused on one person at a time and have the story unfold that way. So each chapter is a just Harry and that person talking about his situation with Draco, in one form or the other. Harry is in love and doesn't know what to do, but when Ginny figures it out, he realizes he is in deep and needs adivce on how to deal with the fact that he loves Draco Malfoy, whom he get's reaquanted with two years after The Battle of Hogwarts because they both play recreational Quidditch.

Draco claims that Harry wouldn't know what to do, even if he tried. However, Harry knows there is at least one person who cannot resist him; Draco Malfoy. The bet is on. Who will emerge the victor?
Main Tags: 8th year, bets, dirty talk, seduction, drinking
15. Girls Just Wanna (6K, M)

They are throwing an engagement party for Neville and Blaise, but Draco is still in "I want Harry all to myself" mode, so when Ginny interrupts Draco littering kisses all over his new boyfriend, he convinces Ginny to go flirt with Pansy. After all, Ginny did say Pansy had a nice arse.
Main Tags: bathroom sex, spin off from series, female slash

Summary: Harry Potter gets outed by Rita Skeeter in a recent Daily Prophet article and decides to take matters into his own hands. He decides to write a tell-all that everyone wants, the story of how he came to terms with his sexuality. What no one, especially Draco Malfoy, expects is this book doubles as a love letter to someone Harry calls, L.B. In the midst of being assigned to read and review Potter's new book, Draco realizes that some of the stories Potter tells in his book seem a little too familair. 💘 and hangman with "can... can you hold me? please?"
THANK YOU MY LOVE
hi ended up turning this into a little roommates situation because i simply couldn’t resist and i can’t be stopped! also v excited with how this one turned out hehehe enjoy my love <3 - [1k] | join the party!
There were perks to having a roommate, though you’re not sure Jake would’ve been your first choice. On paper, he’s the ideal choice. He cleans up after himself. He cooks dinner for you, helps you clean. He kills the spiders.
Despite all of that, he could be unbelievably insufferable. He was cocky and almost too sure of himself. Full of snark and the offhanded, borderline flirtatious comment. He drove you insane, in ways you couldn’t tell were good or just plain irritating.
It’s cheaper rent, you have to remind yourself when his stubbornness causes a minor spat. It’s only temporary, you say under your breath when he catches you staring at his chest for a second too long one morning and makes a stupid comment about it.
As much as he drove you insane, you had to admit–to yourself, of course–that it was nice to have him around. He was easy to talk to and he made you laugh. He always makes you call him to pick you up just so he knows you get home safe. Plus, it was nice knowing he was across the hall at night when you go to sleep in case something were to go wrong.
You wonder if tonight is one of those cases.
It’s not like you were in any sort of trouble. Not physically at least. You’d had a nightmare, one that left you a little breathless when you woke up. Your mind hadn’t stopped reeling, your thoughts on a downward anxious spiral.
You feel a little silly as you stare at your ceiling, wondering if he’d let you sleep with him tonight. Just so you felt safe. You chew on your lower lip for a beat, letting your mind debate the idea for a while hoping that alone will put you back to sleep. Luck isn’t on your side.
With a quiet huff, you slip out of bed and pad across your room to your door. His bedroom door is only five steps across the hall from yours. You feel like a little kid again telling your mom you couldn't sleep as you raise your hand to knock.
Your knuckles rap against the wood twice and you wrap your arms around yourself as you wait. The seconds stretch together and just when you’re about to say fuck it and go back to your own room, his door swings open. Your eyes blink up at him a little wide, part of you surprised he opened the door.
“You okay?” he asks, his voice gravelly from sleep. His slight accent seems to come through that much more too. You swallow, his voice combined with his messy hair and the black t-shirt he’s wearing along with those pajama pants makes you feel a little flustered.
You realize he’s waiting for an answer and clear your throat. He takes in the way you’re shifting on your feet, the way you’re almost hunched in on yourself.
“I, um…I couldn’t sleep,” you say. Your gaze drops to the floor, voice coming out timid and quiet when you say, “Had a bad nightmare.”
You hear him sigh and you fully anticipate him to send you back to your room. Instead, he wraps a hand around one of your arms and tugs you inside his room. “C’mere.”
There’s a burning spot on your arm in the shape of his hand when he lets go once you’re inside. He closes the door and makes his way back to the side of his bed he’d been sleeping on. Jake looks at you and furrows his eyebrows when he notices you haven’t moved.
“You gonna get in bed? I don’t bite,” he hesitates like he’s going to add something to it, something that would definitely make you want to scoff but he decides against it. You make your way over to the other side of the bed and pull back the covers.
The first thing you notice is how warm his bed is. You sink into the sheets easily, holding back a sigh from how cozy it feels beneath his sheets. All of it smells like him, not too overwhelming but enough to make you aware of it. You find that you think you like it.
There’s a shuffling of bedsheets as he gets comfortable again. You lie on your back, staring up at the ceiling and willing yourself to fall asleep. His breathing has started to even out and you wonder if he’s fallen back asleep. Must be nice.
“Jake?” you’re not sure if he can hear you with how quiet you sound. You hear the sheets rustle like he’s turning over to look at you through the dark.
“Yeah?” his voice sounds deeper in a whisper. You swallow, pushing down nerves though they just keep rising to the top.
“Can…can you hold me?” you whisper, shifting against the sheets. “Please?”
For a second, there’s no response and a trail of curses makes its way across your mind. You almost open your mouth to tell him to forget you said anything when you feel his chest against your arm. His arm comes around your middle and you adjust so you’re on your side, your chests almost touching.
Your head finds a home beneath his chin, your lips against the collar of his shirt. His other arm slides beneath your body and you worry it might fall asleep sometime in the night. The thought gets snuffed out when his hand rubs against the length of your back.
“This okay?” he asks. You let out a breath, nodding once.
“Yeah,” you breathe out. “Thank you.”
He hums in response. His hand continues to rub your back, the action soothing you until your body feels limp with relaxation. Your blinks get heavier, longer with each stroke of his hand. You let your body sink against his the most it can, your eyes finally fluttering shut and your breath evening out.
It’s your little secret that that’s the best sleep you’ve gotten in months when you wake up in the morning, legs tangled with his and your chin tucked against his chest.

CHAPTER 3: Hangover You
Now Idiot
I’m here
With lazy motions, I got up from my bed where I was resting before the not-so-acclaimed moment of leaving my house became imminent. I stared down at my bed for a while, not ready to say goodbye yet and with a sigh, I dragged myself out of my apartment. As soon as I left the lobby, my sight was blinded by the sunlight despite being 9 A.M only. Oh, the wonders of summer. It took me long to adapt enough to the amount of luminosity so I could actually see something. Boruto was waiting for me outside the car, crossed arms and a playful smile plastered on his countenance. I knew what he was about to say and I couldn’t avoid the giggle when I got closer. He knew I was laughing because of the joke he was about to make.
“What?” I went beyond him to open the car’s door as he accompanied me with his sight.
“Wow, good morning for you too.” His gaze went up and down on my body and then he smirked. “You look great by the way.”
Instead of entering, I pushed my body away from the car. “What’s wrong with my look?” I took a quick glance at myself before looking at him once again.
“You’re wearing a flower dress to a moving day. It looks like you never moved out and have no idea of what you’re about to do.”
I raised my index finger in front of his face. “Okay, it was the first piece of clothing I saw and the easiest one to wear.”
He chuckled and started to walk to the driver side. “Funnily enough, it’s also the easiest one to remove.”
I rolled my eyes. “Okay, first of all, fuck you. Second, do you want me to change?”
He smiled in response. “Nah, you look great.”
“I would look great in any clothes, and even without any of them, just so you know.”
We both entered the car and put our seat belt on. “I believe you. Although I gotta tell ya, you look wasted.” He started the engine.
“I saw that coming.” I rolled my eyes again. At that point, I was sure that in some moment of the day, I would stick my eyes in my brain for eye-rolling excess. Sadly, no shower could take away my hungover appearance and I knew I had a specifically bad one today since I had no proper sleep. As the car ran through the streets, I noticed how summer always had the power of making people happier; kids were playing at the sidewalk, along with people walking with dogs or jogging. I was almost dead, the movements made me wanna puke and the sunlight was still doing its best to make my eyes water.
"Can you please slow down? I'm kinda hungover."
“I can tell.” We stopped in a red light. “ I thought you went to sleep after we talked last night.”
I knew the topic was coming but still was a surprise, and not a welcoming one, for I had no excuses ready. “Well, I was going to…” My widened eyes started to go side to side while I tried to find the right words to explain what happened and I could tell him. “It’s just that Chocho was excited about that party and you know how she gets…” His chuckle was my signal to stop talking.
“Yeah, I guess I know.” He gave me a reassuring smile. “So, how was the party?”
“I suppose it was good, but I don’t know exactly what happened, I don’t want to know and I want to forget everything my mind dares to remember.” I wanted to change the subject so I would distract myself from any topic related to last night.
“That good?” I gave him a look, but he was too focused on the road to notice. “Won’t you ask me how…”
“I can’t wait to eat, I’m so hungry. I haven’t eaten anything since last night.” I said as soon as I understood where his mind was going; I wasn’t ready to listen to how his date went flawlessly and Yuki was the perfect girl. I wanted to change the subject but not for that one. It indeed surprised me how many topics were uncomfortable for us at that moment, considering that two days before, regardless of my urge to hide my feelings, he was the one I trusted the most.
“It’s your lucky morning, lady. Ally’s is right in the corner.” We both smiled.
Ally’s wasn’t only our favorite place to hang out, but it also served the best food we humans could ever ask for. He parked in the empty parking lot, and we went inside talking as always. Ally, the owner, was always the cutest old lady on earth, and we greeted her as soon as her round face appeared behind the counter, ready to talk to us as usual.
“Sarada, Boruto, good morning.”
“Good morning.” We replied cheerfully.
“Looks like someone had a night out.” She said and I giggled. Ally recognized the signals after so many hangovers spent at the place.
“Yeah, a really long night out.” Boruto and I sat at our usual place with Ally following us close, holding a small notebook and pen in hands.  “May I have a cup of coffee, please?” I asked.
Ally smiled. “Of course, my dear.” She turned to look at Boruto. “What about you, young boy? You don’t even look like you’ve been up all night.”
Boruto let out a small uncomfortable chuckle and I looked around, only then noticing that the beat-up seats were sadly empty and we were the only ones there during a Saturday morning. I could perfectly recall a time where entering there or even parking outside was a hard—almost impossible— task. It made me sad to think that Ally’s, often times my comfy place for when I thought I could fall apart, was on the verge of bankruptcy. I took a deep breath before concentrating on the boy across the table again, his uncomfortable laugh still clear on his features.
“Because I was home sleeping after an amazing date.” Ally threw a glance at me from behind small round glasses and I swallowed dry.
“A date, you say? Was it good?” Ally asked with a smile, no longer looking at me.
“Perfectly fine.” His grin was so wide it made his eyes close. How long would I have to deal with this? “We’ll also want waffles and orange juice for me.”
Ally left and Boruto stared at me as if examining my expression. He tilted his head slightly to the side, narrowing his eyes. “Is there something wrong? You look upset.”
“No, nothing.” I shifted my sight to the clear window on my right side. I could feel his stare on my skin but I couldn’t care less.  Putting my plan for subject change in action, I did the only possible thing capable of distracting him. “So, how was your date last night?”
“You should stop lying.” Fuck, my plan failed.
I looked at him and said matter-of-factly. “I’m not lying.”
“I know you.” His glare was low-key starting to bother me.
“Then you’re sure I’m not lying. How was your date?” I said with hurried words and fixing my gaze on the table; Boruto sighed in response, visibly frustrated.
“Sarada… One day you’ll have to stop lying and simply tell the truth.”
“Ha, as if.” Boruto chuckled and I grinned in response. Escape succeeded.
“Well, the date went fine thanks to your advice.” I couldn’t deny seeing him that happy was a stab in my heart. His bright smile and beautiful eyes were now accompanied by thoughts of someone who wasn’t me, it would never be me and I was sure of it. I had conflicting feelings about the whole situation. As a friend, I wished him happiness but as a girl in love with him, I wished his happiness to be with me.
“I’ll make sure to give bad ones next time, don’t worry.” He stretched his arms over the table to touch my hand and I just let him.
“Thank you for everything. You’re the best friend I could ask for.” Another stab. Friend. The presence of Ally coming back to our table took any sorrow from my mind momentarily. I brought my hands under the table and before he could vocalize his doubts, Ally placed the tray right in front of us. Boruto sighed, I looked to the other side chewing my bottom lip. This morning was going differently from any other breakfast we’d had before, even considering when we were kids. A bad mood hovered over us, predicting we would have a complicated day and my hangover wasn’t responsible fo that. At least we had food. Food and untold feelings.
Boruto paid for the meal while I walked to the car without saying a word. Two days before, everything was different, we were Boruto and Sarada, childhood best friends, together everywhere. Even though no words were said, we had an unbearable silence and a never-ending path to his house.
“Sarada.” I looked at him. “You need to talk to me.”
“About what?” He placed the car in the parking area and I felt sincerely confused.
“Stop lying.”
I left first, hurrying to the lobby and asking for the elevator. After a moment, Boruto was with me, one hand into his pocket the other reaching for my shoulder. At that point, I thought he might have had some specific topic in mind for the whole day upon us. It was only 11 A.M after all, and his questions were far from unintentional.
“When will the others come?” I asked and we entered the elevator with his arm around my shoulders.
“I’m not sure, no one answered yet, only Yodo and it’s been a while now.” He sighed.
“So Yodo will come. Does Shikadai have any idea of this?” I giggled.
“Not at all, otherwise he would never agree.” He widened his eyes, legitimately scared. “Don’t you dare to tell him please.”
I laughed even more. “Chill, I won’t. You’re the cupid here, I won’t muddle into your plans.”
He took a deep breath. “Good, that’s exactly what I expected from you.”
The elevator’s door opened, and we walked to his apartment that, as expected, was a mess. Every piece of clothing, utensil, and book of the house was placed in the living room, along with some closed boxes — a lot less than it should be. I went straight to the kitchen, for I was incredibly thirsty and I needed water. I could hear that Shikadai was in the kitchen, so I decided to greet him.
“Good morning Shika… OH MY GOD!” Something I wasn’t expecting happened and Shikadai was not alone. The opposite, actually, since he was kissing Yodo right there in the kitchen in a way I could only describe as heated. Both he and the blond girl went dark red at my sight, detaching quickly and staring me with their eyes wide open. In no time Boruto got in the kitchen and started to laugh, leading me and the embarrassed couple to laugh together.
“I’m glad to see you guys are getting along.” Boruto said.
I looked at him. “Getting along? You can’t picture what I saw.” I started to pace back to the living room. “This image will be forever on my mind.” I murmured with Boruto following me close.
“I am pretty sure I can put a better image on your mind right now, so you’ll forget whatever happened in there.” I could simply feel the smirk on his words.
“Oh, so you’ll clean everything alone, right in front of me? I would be honored to see this.” I joked, playing along.
I sat in the little space left on the couch and Boruto sat on the floor, gathering things to put in one box he probably got during the time I was in the kitchen. “You’re so funny.”
I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose, deeply annoyed. “You didn’t pack anything. Awesome. This will make things easier.”
He chuckled. “I’m sorry, we only have until Monday to leave the apartment and we can’t move on Sunday so… Today is practically our deadline.”
I narrowed my eyes. “You’re so screwed.”
“Thanks.” He smiled without caring.
I didn’t notice when, but Yodo and Shikadai managed to control the abashment and get to the living room to effectively help with the moving, and both stared at us from the other side of the room while I showed my disgust towards his lack of responsibility.
“You guys are the cutest couple I have ever seen.” Yodo almost whispered with a big smile on her face. Boruto and I’s eyes went wide open, Shikadai sighed, and Yodo got completely confused. “What did I say?” Her sight switched to Shikadai, searching for an answer.
“Nothing, we are not a couple, that’s all.” I said and the girl blushed deeply for the second time today despite the fact she only had said literally two sentences. She got her phone from the pocket of her hoodie immediately after that and put on her earphones. Now it looked more like her. I thought once that her earphones were glued to her ears for medical reasons, but I was mistaken and apparently, they could leave her ears. “We should just put things into boxes and wait for the rest of the people, shall we?”
Everyone nodded, and we kept silence, the only sound being the eventual drag of furniture and occasional questions such as “Can you give me this?” and “Where is that?” That until Iwabe called Boruto informing that he, Namida, Wasabi, Denki and—for my personal unpleasure— Inojin were in their way. My first thought was ‘I gotta leave’ simply because I was not ready to confront Inojin or any of the people that knew what happened, Mitsuki included. The truth was that I was somewhat happy with the possibility of being only Shikadai, Boruto, Yodo and I, considering that they didn’t even picture my late night adventures nor my early morning ones. I had no idea how should react when they knocked on the door; my urge to run and hide barely being held.
Inojin was the first one to walk inside the room. I remained on the floor, avoiding to look at his direction but apparently, he got the hint that I wasn’t in the mood to talk to him. He passed me, greeting Shikadai and ignoring my presence as if we had never met.
Shikadai started. “Sarada, this is Inojin. He is our new roommate.”
“Hello, Sarada.” He smirked at me with his perfect set of teeth and I was just too annoyed by his presence to greet him back with more than a glare. By then, the others started to crowd the already full room. Our talk went completely unnoticed by them. These people are really distracted.
“I feel like I’m losing something here… Do you guys know each other already?” Shikadai pointed at Inojin and I, our eyes locked into each other.
“I know her. I know her pretty well.” Under my breath I said “Fuck you” and he, also whispering, answered, “You did it already”. I rolled my eyes because I couldn’t express my frustration in any other more aggressive way. This is the reason why Rihanna kills men in her song.
Seeing our interaction, Shikadai’s only reaction was a sigh. “Okay, I rather don’t know it.”
“GUYS! Important news now.” Namida started to scream and called everyone’s attention. “Guess who is finally dating?” She pointed to the girl on her side, Wasabi, who giggled. “And surprise! I’m not her girlfriend despite everyone that thought so. I’m straight and single, so if you have any single guy friends, I may be interested.” Her comments made the whole room laugh. “No, seriously. I want a boyfriend.”
Iwabe was the first to control the laughing and ask a question. “So how is she?”
“Sweet and kind. I think this time is finally for real.” A sweet smile adorned her cute face.
“Were the other ones lies?” Denki asked stating his curiosity towards her affirmation.
Wasabi took a deep breath. “No, they just weren’t her.” She had a look that made me wonder when would someone talk about me in that way, but I brushed the thought out of my mind. That was a lucky girl.
“I’m happy for both of you.” I said and Wasabi smiled at me.
“Wait, when will we meet her?” Iwabe asked.
“Soon.” It was all Wasabi said.
“You fools, I met her already.” Namida said fully satisfied.
After a lot of questions towards the girl in love, the transport company came and we started to put stuff inside the truck, we were taking turns so no one overworked. First Shikadai and Yodo stayed in the apartment putting things in the elevator, or at least that was what we expected, then Iwabe and Namida, Wasabi and Denki, Inojin and I and lastly Boruto would be alone. By the time of my turn with Inojin, not much was left in the apartment but I wasn’t uncomfortable by the number of things; I was uncomfortable by his presence. Despite his undeniable good looks, every word that came out of his mouth was somehow offensive to me. He was one more mistake on my list. Why did my mistakes come after me?
“I’m sorry for being such a dick.”
I took a box and walked to the corridor. “Good thing you know that you are.”
He frowned. “Hey, you weren’t supposed to agree.”
“I need to agree with the truth, asshole.” I said when I was back at the door.
“Oh, that hurts.”
“It was intended to.” I smirked, putting my glasses back in place. He smiled back at me.
“You’re always welcomed back at my house, by the way.”
I raised my brows. “First of all, ew. Second, don’t you remember you have roommates now? That’s the kind of thing that I hate about you.”
“I won’t have until Monday.” He got closer, looking down at me. I could feel his warmth in my whole body and that made me want to throw up. “Don’t talk as if you didn’t like it.”
“That’s SO not the point!” I shouted.
He smirked. “So you liked it.”
I rolled my eyes. “Okay, you can get away from me now.”
“What if I don’t?” He raised his hand to my cheek and caressed it lightly, though I felt nothing. It was weird, it took a lot less for Boruto to have an effect on me. Meanwhile, this guy was right in front of me trying what I assumed was his best, but my thoughts were completely destined for another blue eye, in an obsessive monomania.  The ones that didn’t want me in the same way but I dreamed about every night. I closed my own eyes, breathing heavily, crossing my arms in a tentative of keeping me from slap Inojin when a motion was heard.
“Am I interrupting something?” Boruto appeared at the door, looking both mad and playful. Inojin was saved, which is good for him. “It’s my shift now, you guys can leave.”
Inojin walked through the door but stopped after noticing I wasn’t following. “Aren’t you coming?”
“No, I’ll stay here.” Inojin nodded —was that a hint of sadness in his expression?— and left.
Boruto got closer with a confused look. “What was that?”
“You ask me like I know.” I uncrossed my arms and started to take more boxes to get outside.
Boruto chuckled. “You guys know each other?”
“Ugh, I wouldn’t say so.” The boxes were heavier than I thought and I was almost losing balance, but Boruto held me.
“Let me get them.” His skin against mine only for brief seconds sent chills through my whole body. I was pissed at myself, I had no idea what was going through Inojin’s mind while talking to me, neither in mine to be fair, but I knew I was wrong for nourishing feelings for Boruto knowing they weren’t reciprocal. I just couldn’t avoid it, everything was different with him. It was, I knew it, there was no denial anymore. At this point in my life, all that was left was great grades and a thousand numbers in my contacts of people I didn’t care about, I never did.
“You don’t need to.” But it was too late and the boxes were already in his hands.
“Sit on the couch, I didn’t forget you ate nothing for lunch and you have a hangover. I’ll take care of you.”  And this is exactly what I meant from different. How was I supposed to get over this?
He was at the door by the time he ended his sentences, therefore, I had to speak a little louder. “But I’m fine.” I sat either way.
The truth was that I was with a headache the whole day both for dehydration and lack of sleep, but I didn’t want to worry anyone. No use, Boruto knew me too well. It wasn’t long before I fell asleep on the couch. It wasn’t perfectly comfortable like my bed—which I was genuinely missing by the way— but good enough.
“Sarada, wake up.” Boruto’s voice removed me from my dreamland and I yawned.
“What now?” I murmured with a sleepy voice and he put a hand on my arm.
“Wake up, you’re home.”
I opened my eyes slightly, noticing two things: I was inside his car and it was dark outside the window. “Oh fuck, how did I get here?”
“Calm down, you just woke up.” He smiled at me and I obliged. “I carried you to my car.”
“What?”
He chuckled. “You were so cute sleeping I didn’t want to wake you up, but at the same time, I already handed the keys back so I couldn’t let you there. So I brought you back to our home.”
“O-our home?” For how many years have I slept?
He narrowed his eyes to me. “I moved to your building today…”
I widened my eyes both in realization and embarrassment. “Oh yeah, of course.” I moved my sight to the window but everything outside was pitch black, therefore I assumed we were inside the building’s parking lot, in Boruto’s new vacancy since we were neighbors. I could see his eyes glowing in the dark, and I just wanted to touch him even though I couldn’t and god, it hurt.
“Wanna eat something later? Let’s have dinner somewhere fancy to celebrate my move. It’s 7 pm right now, we can get ready and leave at 8 pm what do you think?”
“Yes, please.” I nodded vigorously.
He opened the door and I did the same. “Oh, I almost forgot, can I stay with you for tonight? I have no bed.”
A weak blush scattered in my face, good thing it was too dark. “I guess we can find a way. The couch is available as far as I know.”
We part at the corridor of our apartments. I needed to get ready for our dinner. What the fuck is this guy doing to me?

"Love Me" our OTP again, since we keep putting them through stuff XD
Saved it for Valentine’s Day
When Bruce opens his door in the morning, hefinds his doorway almost entirely filled with stuffed bear. It says somethingabout Bruce Banner and his lifestyle that he reacts very little: his eyeswiden, and he rubs at them once or twice, but this is due more to the earlyhour than any real surprise.
Clint Barton’s face appears, framed by pinkplush, at the gap where the bear’s head joins its shoulder.
“You got a bear,” he says, perhaps redundantly.“I didn’t get a bear.”
“What did you get?”
“Bamboo. Six foot bamboo canes in a pot. Buttied with a red ribbon.” Clint pushes the bear’s arm down so he can look atBruce more easily, completely straightfaced. “What do you think of your bear?”
Bruce gives this important question dueconsideration.
“I’m glad it isn’t green?”
Clint nods solemnly, then withdraws. The bearimmediately springs back to fill the available space like a giant pinkmarshmallow. The faint strains of Donny Osmond singing “Puppy Love” filter downfrom the direction of the main lounge area, and there’s a subtle but definitescent of roses suffusing the corridor.
Bruce takes a deep breath and lets it outslowly. It’s going to be a long day, he can just tell.
Tony is very excited, which to Bruce is thefirst biggest indication that the whole bear thing is a Starkism as opposed toa Lokism. It’s always a close-run contest, when things are afoot at AvengersTower - does the fault lie with the god, or the engineer?
The walls and couches in the lounge weren’tpink. Again, everything pointed to Tony. Loki would have gone the whole extramile. There probably would have been actual rosebushes taking root in thefloor. Not to say that there won’t be at some point.
“Brucie-bear! No, seriously, did you like thebear? It was Hulk-sized. I mean actually to scale. I sent the precisemeasurements to the company, they were thrilled to get it, I think they -”
Engineer confirmed.
“It’s awesome, Tony,” says Bruce, getting histea tin out of the cupboard. Somehow he isn’t surprised that the sugar in thesugarbowl is tinted vaguely pink. “So, Valentine’s Day, huh? Didn’t know it wasa favourite of yours.”
Tony doesn’t respond immediately, and shufflesa little, which gives Bruce pause.
“Is this anything to do with you not givingPepper a -”
“No,” Tony shoots back, sticking his hands inhis pockets. “I just wanted to do something normal. For everyone.”
Bruce wonders in which world orderingHulk-sized teddybears and ramming them into your room-mate’s doorway isconsidered normal, but he doesn’t say anything. Because he knows what Tonymeans. Virtually nothing they do is normal by regular people standards.Sometimes it’s nice to pretend that they’re just Tony and Bruce, regular guysin a house-share doing regular stupid people things on regular stupid peopleholidays. Even if that means giant bears and pink sugar and Donny Osmond. Hestirs his tea and feels oddly content.
“I guess that means we’re watching TheNotebook tonight.”
Tony makes a face.
“When Harry Met Sally?”
“Better. Not good. But better. Only You.And I got Ben and Jerrys to make an ice cream. With pie.”
Bruce looks up as his attention is caught by ahitherto unnoticed spray of paper hearts fluttering gently in the air-con. Itturns out the ceiling is covered in them, a net of glittering red that sparklesand glimmers at every slight movement of air.
“You know,” he says, “you’ve done a great job.Thanks.”
He knows he’s said the right thing when Tonybeams. Because Tony - and Howard must take a huge part of the responsibilityfor this - is very susceptible to approval and validation from others. SeeingTony happy is important. To forestall any unwanted introspection, however, hechanges the subject again.
“I kind of don’t want to ask, but should weexpect any grand, dangerously magical gestures from the godly half of our onlyreal full-time couple? I mean, is the kitchen suddenly going to be full ofunicorns or anything?”
Tony shrugs. “Well, they’re both enormousdivas. I’m pretty sure if Heckyl doesn’t get at least a pound box of specialimport Godiva to work his way through, he’s gonna raise hell. And you know Lokican’t resist a grand gesture. I’m not ruling anything out.”
“Very wise.” Bruce sips his tea, then thephrasing of a previous statement turns round and slugs him in the brain. “Waita minute. You got them to make an ice cream? You mean a brand new one, don’t you…wasn’t Stark Raving Hazelnuts enough?”
“Nope,” says Tony, happily. “Not now I can haveI, Tony, Have Pies For You.”
As it happens, Tony and Bruce are both destinedto be disappointed: there are to be no unicorns in the kitchen. Loki and Heckylare in Loki’s room, and in fact having a difference of opinion - although it isat least Valentine’s Day related.
“Today?”
“Yes, today.”
Loki doesn’t mention the “Mister and Mister”matched ceramic cat ornaments he found outside the door on his way back fromthe kitchen earlier. Like Bruce, he suspects he knows very well who is to blamefor this and will take suitable vengeance at an appropriate point. He’s good atvengeance: where deserved, of course, because he’s theoretically a good personnow. And it’s certainly deserved in Stark’s case - those cats are hideous. Notto mention the fact that the kitchen ceiling is shedding glitter like ahyperactive toddler at craft club and Loki now has sparkly hair.
Heckyl, who is sat on the floor with a StarkPadin his hands, flipping through trash on the internet, looks up at him.
“They only have the one day here where theylove each other? Ugh. Weird.”
“Not exactly. They have the one day where eachparty is manipulated into doing things or buying things for the other by thestrategic application of guilt and emotional pressure.”
Heckyl gives him a look.
“Well, that sounds more normal,” hesays, and Loki laughs. “So? Did you buy me anything or do I need to start onthe manipulation right away?”
“I didn’t buy you anything.”
“Heartless.”
“I don’t have to buy you anything.”
“Rude.”
Loki gets down onthe floor and settles himself comfortably next to Heckyl. Without asking, hereaches out and takes the tablet from his hands (Heckyl complains loudly, butdoes not resist all that much) and sets it aside. When Heckyl playfully makes agrab for it, Loki catches his wrists instead, pulls him in against his chest, then very deliberately presses the flat of his palm against the man’s forehead. And the world goes away.
I got you this instead, saysLoki.
Suddenly it’s years ago, inside their heads. A time only afew weeks after Loki had met Heckyl and released him from that cage. They’dbeen sat together in some dive bar on a planet even Loki didn’t recall the nameof, and nothing at all of any importance or annoyance had been happening. Whichmade a change, frankly, considering that their lives since they’d met had beena riot of activity, chaos and (quite often) getting shouted at by rulingauthorities.
This was the first time we stopped to drawbreath.
They’d been left pretty much to themselves: even in a divebar it had been very clear that they were the most lethal thing in the area. Ithad been quiet, the only other patrons huddled in their own dark corners, hiding from their own crimes or demons. Heckyl had a small bruise just over hiseye, the result of a narrow escape from a stoning. And Loki had got up, headingto the counter to get food and as he went past -
It didn’t mean anything, saysHeckyl, defensive to the last.
It meant everything, countersLoki. This was it. This was when I should have known.
- just reached out instinctively and brushed a fingertipover that bruise. Nothing suggestive, nothing sexual, a single touch.
There’d been gripped hands before, taking the other‘sweight when climbing. Helping hands, to get the other back on their feet.Defensive hands, raised in violence to protect the other. There had been allthis prior instinctive motion, without conscious thought driving it: this is mycompanion, my ally. We help each other.
But there had not been this.
Heckyl turns, his eyes wide, to watch Loki as he walksaway. His expression is caught perfectly between shock, confusion and hunger:there’s an intense and obvious vulnerability to him in that moment. It’s clearhe doesn’t understand what just happened at all, but equally clear that hewants more of whatever the hell that just was with every fibre of his being. Healmost quivers.  Loki does notlook back at him, all the dark angularity of his long leather clad spine turnedtowards him.
This is when I think you knew.
Loki pulls back his hand, and they’re both back in hisroom, still sat on the floor. Heckyl breathes out, shuddering.
“How did you - how did you do that?” he asks. “How?You didn’t even know. You couldn’t have seen.”
“I didn’t have to see it in you to know,” Loki says. “I sawit in me.”
He pauses, noting that for once the notoriously volubleHeckyl has nothing to say, then adds: “Oh. And you also get these cats.”
He summons the pair of ceramic monstrosities between themwith a flick of his fingers, and chuckles with satisfaction at the sound ofshattering as Heckyl jumps him.

When a black man and Hip Hop artist dares to challenge the narrative and speak the truth, many of those in his own community turn on him. That is exactly what Hip Hop artist Killer Mike is discovering after he chose to appear in an NRA-TV video standing up and stepping out in support of private gun ownership.
Michael Render, better known as Killer Mike, made his debut with OutKast back in 2000 and has since emerged as a solo artist releasing five full-length albums. In 2013 he collaborated with fellow rapper EL-P forming Run the Jewels. Throughout his musical career, Render has also been known as an avid social and political activist, focusing on subjects including social inequality, police brutality, and systemic racism.  He was also a visible and highly vocal supporter of Bernie Sanders during his 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, notably refusing to back and support Hillary Clinton after Sanders left the race.
As a public figure, he believes he has a responsibility to represent his race, stating “I feel I have to be politically active and I have to be a credit to my race.” Born and raised in and around the Atlanta, Georgia area he has also been vocal on the subject of police misconduct, his father being a former police officer.  So when Render speaks out in support of gun ownership, it does not go unnoticed.
youtube
Sitting down with Noir in the new NRA video, Render states -“You can’t continue to be the lackey,” he said, referring to left-leaning individuals who tout anti-gun views. “You’re a lackey of the progressive movement because you’ve never disagreed with the people who tell you what to do.”
He continues the conversation discussing how he discouraged his own children from participating in the mass walkouts conducted by students in protest of gun violence. He stated – “I told my kids on the school walkout: ‘I love you—if you walk out that school, walk out my house…’ We are not a family that jumps on every single thing an ally of ours does because some stuff we just don’t agree with.”
Mike closed the interview with Noir by stating – “We are raising a generation of kids where everyone gets a trophy. But in real life, everyone don’t get a trophy. In real life, the cops don’t come on time. In real life, depending on where you live, you’re not gonna have the time to try to logic your way out of something.”
Throughout the video, Noir expresses his empathy for victims of school shootings and random gun violence. Noir previously faced backlash himself with accusations of “taunting” Parkland teens after the school shooting.  Noir stated of the Valentine’s Day school shooting at Margory Stoneman Douglas High School – “To all the kids from Parkland getting ready to use your First Amendment to attack everyone else’s Second Amendment at your march on Saturday, I wish a hero like Blaine Gaskill had been at Marjory Douglas High School last month because your classmates would still be alive and no one would know your names, because the media would have completely and utterly ignored your story, the way they ignored his.”
youtube
Blaine Gaskill is a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Deputy and school resource officer in Southern Maryland. The 34-year-old SWAT-trained officer who engaged a teenager who shot his ex-girlfriend at Great Mills High School keeping casualties to a minimum. Unlike the cowardly acts of former SRO Scott Peterson in Parkland, who refused to engage Nikolas Cruz as he gunned down students and staff alike, Gaskill is viewed as a hero.  At least he is by those that know his name, which of course is Noir’s point. But that point was missed by many in the mainstream media it seems, as well as many on the left.
Meanwhile, Render is also facing backlash for appearing in the NRA video on social media where those in within his own community were quick to call him out.
Shaun King was one of the first, stating –
“Brother, I have to respond publicly because your NRA video was public. 1. They aren’t simply a news platform. 2. They’ve abandoned us many times over. 3. They’ve targeted & threatened & cruelly insulted us many times over. @KillerMike – I love you. You played yourself.”
Tumblr media
Others had an even stronger message claiming people such as Render were why white people need guns, stating – “just to be clear- killer mike is the reason all of those ppl cling so desperately to their assault rifles in the first place. a 6′ tall, 300 lb black man is PRECISELY the driving force behind white anxiety. his very existence is EVERY irrational fear made manifest. but okay.”
Tumblr media
The Root also called out Render in an article stating – “Listen, Killer Mike can believe what he wants about gun rights and be friends with whomever he chooses, but the problem most folks have is his appearance on an NRA-funded platform. In case you didn’t know, the NRA cares nothing about black people. Killer Mike mentioned Jordan Davis without, at least in the video, explicitly calling out the NRA for not supporting his mother. Same with Philando Castile and other black people shot and killed by cops.”
It seems too many people want to make this about race and social justice issues, and other things that it just simply is not. This is about a man that regardless of the backlash he is currently receiving chose to think and speak his own views rather than the acceptable party line. And frankly, regardless of whether I see eye to eye with him on his politics or not, I commend him. I commend him for speaking up on an issue that greatly affects his community and his home and choosing to be different.  I commend him for choosing to protect himself and his family. And most of all, I commend him for choosing to think. Thank you Mike Render.
 >Now watch people who never even listened to his music start shitting on it.

Mini analysis - A Long Way Down
Tumblr media
Blurb: ‘Can I explain why I wanted to jump off the top of a tower block?’
For disgraced TV presenter Martin Sharp the answer’s pretty simple: he has, in his own words, ‘pissed his life away’. And on New Year’s Eve he’s going to end it all ... but not, as it happens, alone. Because first single-mum Maureen, then eighteen-year-old Jess and lastly American rock-god JJ turn up and crash martin’s private party. They’ve stolen his idea- but brought their own reasons.
Yet it’s hard to jump when you’ve got an audience queuing impatiently behind you. A few heated words and some slices of pizza later and these four strangers are suddenly allies. But is their unlikely friendship a good enough reason to carry on living?
‘Extremely funny ...and wise’ -Sunday Times
‘A page-turning plot and rich, funny characters with several big laughs on every page...Hornby’s best yet.” -Library Review
‘Hornby pins down the age in which we live with precision and comic brilliance’ -Guardian
‘Hugely enjoyable’ -Irish Times
‘Masterful ...some of the finest writing, and some of the most outstanding characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading’ -Johnny Depp
‘Impossible to put down... enthralling’ -Ruth Rendell, Guardian
‘Hilarious yet heartbreaking’ -In Style
‘Generous and wise. Right rom the opening pages, a smile played continually across my face’ -GQ
‘Darkly comic’ -San Francisco Chronicle
‘Brilliant, smart and funny... a cello suite about how to go on living. It’s hard to imagine a novel more darkly and sublimely devoted to life’ -Boston Globe
‘Hornby’s portrayal of four characters who accidentally meet on top of a tower block, all ready to jump to their death on New Year’s Eve, manages to be sensitive and emphatic, but damn funny as well. My new Hornby favourite’ -Adam Philips, Observer
I’ve always been suspicious of books that have more reviews than blurb printed on the cover, and this confirms all my darkest fears and theories.
Structure and Intention: There are no chapters, instead the book is divided into three parts of about equal length. These three parts are further divided into sections where each of the four characters narrates a part. These individual narrations are between a half and about five pages long, change frequently, and are indicated by the name of the character set over the text in all capitals. The events of the book roughly follow Aristotele’s model for the ideal drama:
Tumblr media
(note: I wanted to link the source and the website this is from apparently doesn’t exist anymore, sorry) At the very beginning we’ve got our exposition - four characters who all want to commit suicide meet. We are informed about the place (Topper’s House, London), the time (around midnight), the characters (Maureen, Martin, Jess, JJ) and get first information about them (mostly their motivations for trying to throw themselves off a building). Then we’ve got our falling action - at the end of the first part, a pact is formed: The characters agree to meet again on Valentine’s Day, and not kill themselves until then. Then we’ve got our climax (the witnessed suicide on Valentine’s) at the very end of the second part, after quite a bit of rising action (the newspaper fiasco, the interview on Martin’s show, the vacation...). Then one could argue that Maureen and Jess’ visit to Martin’s ex-wife can be seen as an element of retardation. I personally don’t, because that whole thing can be seen as leading up to The Intervention, leading us directly to our conclusion (which is a happy one and thus, if this was a play, would make the book a comedy, which I find very fitting.) What’s interesting about the structure is also that part I and II both end with a turning point: In part I we’ve got the Valentine’s Day Pact delaying the suicide, in part II they witness a suicide and subsequently realize that they aren’t capable of killing themselves. The author’s intention becomes clear in the last part of the book: the characters all slowly get better. The last sentence sums this up perfectly: JJ says about the London Eye that “It didn’t look as though it was moving, but it must have been, I suppose”, which can also be applied to the characters dire situations throughout the whole book: It doesn’t look like it’s getting better, but it is.
Characters:
1) Martin (age: probably mid-forties)
Family situation: Was married to Cindy, with whom he has two daughters (Polly and Maise), currently together with Penny Chambers, his old co-host. Martin is a serial adulterer who’s marriage ended because he was caught having sex with a fifteen-year old girl who was under the influence of cocain. His type is described as blond, young, and big-breasted.
Character traits: Martin is educated and a member of the upper bourgeoise (rich enough to afford a BMW and a very nice flat in London, not rich enough to lose his job and still uphold his standard of living without any problems). He is pessimistic, but at the same time has a very media-friendly personality (egoistic, likes to be the center of positive attention, charismatic, vain, self-assured). Though he is very shallow and lazy, he has a strong sense of obligation.
Situation: Had sex with a fifteen-year-old and went to prison for an unspecified amount of time (my best guess is about two to three months - he’ s still recognized on the street, he mentions recent articles about himself, his girlfriend was still waiting for him when he got out, so it couldn’t have been that long). As a consequence to his...sexual escapades....he lost his job as a breakfast TV presenter (his show was called Rise and Shine With Penny and Martin). He also has an alcohol problem.
Secret wish: To not have to be held accountable for his wrongdoings
Seeks: Redemption
2) Maureen (age: 51)
Family situation: Is a single mom (her fiancé broke off the engagement before she even knew she was pregnant, and she never had or even wanted another romantic or sexual encounter). She is the sole caretaker of her son Matty (19), who is wheelchair-bound and so severely (mentally?) disabled that he cannot communicate with anyone and basically just...vegitates.
Character traits: Maureen is deeply religious, but often doubts the teachings of the catholic church. As a consequence of her faith she has a strong sense of guilt and duty, and sees her son as the punishment for all of her sins (but mainly for the premaritial sex). She is very timid and has low self-esteem and cries very easily. Some passages allude to her being diagnosed with depression.
Situation: Maureen has absolutely no friends and isolated from all aspects of social life (except for Sunday church) due to her family situation.
Secret wish: To be free from Matty.
Seeks: Human contact
3) Jess Crichton (age: 18)
Family situation: Is the daughter of the Junior Minister of Education; her older sister, Jennifer, disappeared shortly after obtaining her driver’s license and is presumed dead. The car she was driving was found at a popular suicide spot and her body was never found. Jess’ relationship with her parents is very tense, as she blames herself for Jen’s disappearance and, consequently, for her parents’ misery.
Character traits: Jess has a hard facade and often acts unpredictable or crazy. Underneath that facade she is a vulnerable and grieving young girl who feels deeply guilty because she is convinced she is the reason her sister left the family and clings to any and all human contact. She is deathly afraid of people leaving her. She is very insecure and often ‘reinvents’ herself in order to please those around her. Despite this she is not afraid to speak her mind, often in vulgar terms. She describes herself as ‘fucked up’ and self harms.
Situation: Jess is convinced her sister isn’t dead and is living a happy life somewhere without her. She is very detached from her parents, though she secretly longs for a happy family life. She is starved for affection and clings to it wherever she can find it, which leads to her stalking Chas, the boy who took her virginity. She in convinced that they had a deep and meaningful relationship that he destroyed, despite only ever going on two dates and Chas not even defining their relationship as boyfriend-girlfriend type.
Secret wish: For her parents to swoop in and magically fix everything that’s been going wrong since Jen disappeared.
Seeks: Reassurance
4) John Julius a.k.a. JJ (age: mid twenties to early thirties maybe? it’s pretty unclear)
Family situation: JJ’s family situation is unknown; the only meaningful relationships mentioned in his past are his ex girlfriend, Lizzie, for whom he immigrated to England from the US, and Ed, his former bandmate and childhood friend, who quit the band and is living in the US.
Character traits: JJ is an introspective, melancholic and philosophical artistic personality. He is very philosophical despite being a relatively uneducated high school dropout and enjoys intellectual stimulation, particularly in the form of books. He loves four things: music, books, his bandmates, and his ex, three of which have left him.
Situation: JJ is an illegal immigrant. His band broke up despite obvious success and his girlfriend, who was the reason he came to the UK in the first place, broke up with him.
Secret wish: To be famous with his band
Seeks: Self-expression
Language: All four characters use typical language in their monologues. Martin typically uses words from the fields MEDIA. LAW and PROFANITY and very long and elaborate adjectives and adverbs. He uses rather long sentences with multiple subclauses and often employs rhetorical questions. His educated, engaging and cynical tone stands in contrast to his frequent use of profanity. Overall Martin’s tone is rather sophisticated, sometimes lofty, but not implausible as spoken English.  Maureen typically uses words from the fields RELIGION and OUTDATED SLANG. Striking is her complete lack of profanity. She uses rather simple syntax, lots of insertions, often ends her sentences with ‘isn’t it’ and there are often periods instead of question marks at the end of her questions. This leads to her seeming slow (as in slow-moving), old-fashioned, uptight and prudish. Overall her style is rather standard but seems stiff in comparison to the others.  Jess typically uses words from the fields PROFANITY and SLANG. She uses lots of ellipses, rhetorical questions, and relatively short sentences. Her language sees fast-paced, intense, and often jumpy. Her style is somewhere between colloquial, which she is a bit too structured for, and standard, which she is a bit too jumpy for.  JJ typically uses words from the fields LITERATURE, BAND/MUSIC, and PROFANITY. He uses very long sentences with elaborate subclauses which often feature rhetorical questions, and questions and literal speech or his thoughts as insertions. His language is philosophical, thoughtful and ‘deep’, the style is standard to colloquial.
Personal Opinion: It’s shit don’t read it.
Ok but in all honesty this book is shallow, doesn’t accurately portray depression or being suicidal, features a character whos only regret about sleeping with a minor who was unable to give consent due to being drugged out of her mind, and also, fifteen, (this is what they call rape fellas!) is that he didn’t get away with it (also this is never addressed? there is no outside perspective given on this? no one ever says anything about this in their parts, everyone seems ok with Martin being a convicted and guilty sex offender? what the f), and, in all honesty, the writing is...rather mediocre. Like, it isn’t bad per se, but in my opinion it’s on no way deserving the praise it gets.
Note: I...have so much more stuff I could say about this book. If you want a series of very detailed diagrams depicting character relationships or something like that, let me know because I’ve got it all.

💘 + drunk confessions while one is taking care of the other from the fourth prompt list with hangman, please?🤍
can’t even begin to tell you how excited i was to write this one, oh my god. she got a bit longer than my usual blurb but i really hope i did it justice <3 - [1.6k] | join the party!
The phone call you get just before midnight is the last one you’d think to get. Rooster’s on the other line and you can hear the music and loud jeering from the Hard Deck over the phone. It’s hard to hear exactly what he’s saying but you make out enough of it.
Really drunk…asking…pick him up?
With a sigh, you rub at your eyes and slide yourself out of bed. The book you’d been reading before he called gets left haphazardly on your other pillow.
“I’ll be right there.”
With the streets nearly empty, it doesn’t take you long to get to the bar. It’s loud enough inside that you can hear it muffled outside as you walk up to the doors. There’s a soft push of ocean air that goes right through the fabric of the sweatshirt you’d thrown on before you left.
It’s crowded inside, though you should’ve expected that with it being the weekend. One after a successful mission, no less. You shoulder your way through hordes of Navy personnel and the occasional local, paying no mind to the strange looks you’re getting for still being in your pajamas at a bar.
You spot Rooster back by the dartboard and pool tables and he catches your eye over the crowd. He meets you halfway with a relieved look on his face.
“Sorry we call-” you cut him off before he can say anything else.
“Where is he?” you ask, peeking over his shoulder. You miss the knowing gleam in his eye.
“Where’d you think?” He turns towards the dartboard and points, your eyes following. Sure enough, there’s Jake, throwing darts at the board and somehow still managing to hit bullseye even when completely drunk. You shake your head and let Rooster help lead you over.
“Hey, Hangman! Your ride’s here,” he shouts over the crowd. Jake turns around from where he was going to collect the darts with a complete look of confusion.
“I didn’t call a ride,” he says and Rooster all but smirks. He nudges you forward and Jake’s face seems to light up like a switch was flipped when he notices you.
“What are you doin’ here, sweets?” he asks, completely forgetting about the darts he was trying to retrieve. You try not to let it show how much the pet name affects you.
“Taking you home,” you say. You wave Rooster off, offering him a small thank you for calling. A pout forms on his face as he seemingly remembers what he was doing right before you showed up.
“But I’m in the middle of a game,” he says, sounding like a little kid whose parents just told him no.
“And you were doing great but we gotta get home, okay?” you ask, coming up to him and wrapping an arm around his waist. He sighs, his chin tucking against his chest. He lets you lead him towards the bar doors, one of his arms coming around your shoulders.
It’s a bit of a struggle getting him out of the bar. His footsteps are clumsy and he’s leaning on you just a little too much for you to also walk properly. It doesn’t help that the bar is flooded with people. You manage to get him to your car and into the passenger’s side.
He fumbles with the seatbelt and you huff, leaning in and helping him pull it across his chest and clicking it into place. You move so you’re not leaning over him and his head lazily slumps over to look at you. There’s a dopey smile on his face and he reaches up to boop your nose.
“Pretty,” he says, the word a little slurred. You shake your head but let yourself smile. You lean back completely to close the car door.
“No puking in my car, Seresin,” you try to sound threatening but you doubt he can tell in his inebriated state. He gives you a salute and you laugh a bit, closing the door and moving over to the driver’s side.
You drive the two of you home, the streetlights sporadically illuminating your faces with a yellow glow. Living with Jake, you were privy to sides of him not many other people were. Drunk Jake was one that rarely came out but proved to be a sight whenever it did.
When you get to the little place you share, he has to lean almost all his body weight on you while you walk from the car to the front door and inside. You toe your shoes off whilst he all but kicks his off in a pile by the door. While you’re busy locking the front door behind you, Jake disappears off into the living room.
He collapses in a heap on the couch, body sinking into the cushions. You groan, dropping your keys against the kitchen counter as you head into the room.
“Jake, c’mon,” you say, a little exasperated with your hands on your hips. He smiles serenely up at you, seemingly amused by you. You move to stand in front of him and hold both of your hands out for him to grab. “We need to get you in bed.”
He rolls his eyes.
“I am in bed,” he protests, sinking deeper into the couch. You huff, taking a moment to rub at your forehead.
“No, you’re on the couch,” you say, once again holding out your hands to help him up. He doesn’t budge, going so far as to start to lie down. You purse your lips. “Hangman, seriously. It’s time for bed.”
This seems to stop him in his tracks. His legs come back off the couch, his facial expression dropping. His lips seem to pucker out into a pout as he looks at you. You’re a little confused.
“Are you mad at me?” he asks. You sigh, your eyebrows pinching together.
“What?”
“You called me Hangman,” he points out, blinking up at you. His green eyes are almost doe-like. “You only call me that when you’re mad.”
Your shoulders sag and you squeeze your eyes shut for a moment. When you open them again, he’s still staring at you with that same kicked puppy expression. You shake your head. “I’m not mad at you, Jake. Just wanna get you to bed, that’s all.”
He blinks at you for a second, considering, and then he’s reaching his hands up towards you. You grab hold of them and step back, helping tug him off the couch. You don’t anticipate the momentum he brings and suddenly, his body is pressed right against yours.
Your hands have come to press against his chest, a last ditch attempt to keep him from falling on you completely. His face is suddenly really close to yours, the proximity taking your breath away. You think you see his eyes flicker down to your lips but you’re sure it’s just your mind playing tricks.
“Careful,” you finally mutter and his eyes come up to meet yours. You take a cautious step back, letting your hands fall back to your sides. “Let’s get you to bed.”
You follow close behind him as he walks a little less clumsy down the hall to his bedroom. He sits on his bed while you dig through his drawers for his pajamas. You can hear shuffling behind you but you don’t expect to turn around to a halfway undressed Jake. Your face feels extremely hot.
“You change while I get you some water, okay?” you leave the pajamas near him and don’t even wait for an answer before you’re leaving the room. You fill a glass from the kitchen with water and grab some pain meds from the bathroom.
When you come back, he’s changed clothes and crawled into bed. You set the water and pills down on his bedside table carefully. At the sound of your name you look over at Jake. He’s looking at you in a way that makes your chest flutter.
“Hmm?”
“Thanks for taking me home,” he says and you smile, moving to sit on the edge of his bed. “Are you sure you’re not mad at me?”
“I was never mad at you, Jake,” you say, shaking your head. He just stares at you, moving so he’s propped up more against his pillows.
“I like you,” he says and you hate how it sends your heart racing because he doesn't mean it like that.
“I like you, too,” you respond. He nearly groans.
“No, like I really like you. Like, like like you.”
Oh.
Your lips part and your eyes go a little wide. It feels like your heart is trying to break out of your ribcage. You blink at him, fighting back a smile though the ghosts of one curls around your words.
“You’re drunk,” you eventually say, shaking your head. He hums.
“Maybe…but I won’t be in the morning,” he says, the look in his eyes seeming more sober now than ever. Your face feels warm and your eyes shine. You smooth out his blankets and press a kiss to his forehead before standing up.
“Then tell me in the morning,” you muse. You stop at his door, turning to look at him. He’s already staring at you, a small smile on his face. You think this might be your favorite thing about seeing him drunk. His face softened, no sign of the cocky, big ego on his face. “Get some sleep.”
You shut the door as you leave and take a moment to rest your back against it and breathe, hoping he tells you again in the morning.
