found some old doodles of zack kelvin!
i had always headcanoned that zack was the alien and he came from outerspace from a now destroyed planet thanks to Project Vizion kabooming it
he got sent via escape pod maybe but never knew that much about his species, megamind style, and was raised by his two adoptive dads Gabriel Kelvin (the one in the sweater) and Andre Kelvin (the one in the tank top)
he always thought he wasnt adopted because ya know, Gabriel looks like him, and he thought he just had a very bad cold
sometimes whenever Zack gets overwhelmed or has a breakdown he spontaneously combusts into one of his main elements
I wanna make a story post-riddle transfer where one day he has a really bad breakdown that it causes a freezing cold fire, zack is very horrified by this because he thought he'd never have to be cold ever again
his friends are able to calm him down and stuff, but now he's more than certain willing to discover just exactly what his species is

tornado warnings

summary: out of all the girls Eddie could like, of course he'd pick Jason Carver's girlfriend. He kept ignoring the warnings, and now he's in too deep.

It's sprialed out of control. Eddie knows that now.
It's as if he's been struck by lightning, the realization jolting him awake when your fingers deftly brush against his whilst you pass over the chemistry pop quiz. The touch lasts for less than two seconds, accompanied by a friendly smile and a quiet "good luck" thrown in, but it's enough for him to falter and almost let the paper slip from his fingers.
It reminds him of the first time you two met, late after school - you because of cheerleading practice, him because of detention.
Eddie was exhausted. Having shown up late to school with mismatched socks and his roleplaying notebook forgotten by the driver's seat of his van - not that it mattered anymore, considering he had to cancel tonight's session due to detention - he swore that the world was out to get him.
It was half past five and the spring rain was unrelenting, the pitter patter of water droplets against glass windows drowning out all other noise. Eddie scowled, not even the weather was on his side today. He'd have to make a run for it to his car, with nothing more than a floppy notebook to hold over his head.
His footsteps faltered, however, when he heard a feminine voice swear followed by the clattering of metal. Peeking his head around the corner, he was met with none other than the sight of you struggling to open up your locker, delicate fingers fumbling with the lock desperately.
"Oh for fuck's sake." you swore, trying the combination again and pulling the lock with all your strength to no avail. Dropping your duffel bag onto the floor, you tried again, this time grasping the metal lock with both your manicured hands.
No luck.
Sighing, you dropped your arms and fell forward onto your locker head first, before perking up and looking around for someone to ask for help - perhaps a janitor would know how to deal with this. Your eyes met Eddie's, and his eyes widened in an instant (fearing the worst, being caught staring wordlessly at one of the most popular girls in school) but your eyes lit up with recognition and joy.
"Hey! Eddie, right?" you called out, waving him over.
You knew his name? Eddie was simultaneously flattered and shocked, considering you two were separated by several stratospheres in the popularity pyramid. He was in your Advanced Physics class junior year before he dropped down to regular Physics, and even then you sat by the front row with the rest of the cheerleading squad whilst he doodled in his notebooks at the back.
"Do you think you could try opening up my locker for me? I left some important notes in there and my European History test is tomorrow, so I really need them." you sheepishly added, leaning against your locker. Eddie hesitated for a few seconds - was this a trick? Why were you being so nice to him? Why was the smile on your face so pure and so genuine, never once faltering?
Ignoring the sirens going off in his mind, he wordlessly nodded and walked up to your locker.
"The combination is 8-1-8-2."
He spun the dials around and tugged at the lock, but it remained stuck. He tried again, being extra careful to spin the numbers to the exact digit this time, but it still didn't budge.
"Nothing?" you questioned anxiously, peeking over from behind his shoulder. Eddie just grinned at that, hand flying to his jean front pocket to fish out an extra hairpin.
"Maybe not. Hold on."
Bending the metal pin straight, he fumbled with the little hole at the bottom of the lock, until a satisfying 'click' rang out. He was then able to finally unhook the lock and open it up to the contents of your locker - textbooks and folders spilling with notes neatly piled up at the bottom, with a Dior perfume, tube of lipstick and a jar of gummies sitting on the top shelf.
He was about to make a lighthearted joke about the gummies when the joke died in his mouth at the warm sensation of your arms wrapping around his waist, face buried in his shirt as you joyously embraced him.
"YES! Thank you so much, Eddie, you are a lifesaver!"
The sudden burst of affection was totally foreign to him and his senses were going haywire - overwhelmed at how your hair was tickling his exposed skin, your sweet scent (notes of caramel, honey and vanilla) evident but not too strong from this proximity. He fumbled over what to do with his arms, not knowing what was appropriate to do, before awkwardly settling on patting your back with his left hand.
"It's uh, no big deal." he managed to stutter out, small grin on his lips. A grin far outshined by the massive one on yours, bubbly laughter flowing as you quickly dug out the notes from your locker before slamming it shut and locking it back up.
There was another foreign sensation now beginning to register in his brain. Warmth, pleasant fires kindling in his lower stomach, an ache in his chest to have you close to him again. And his next sentence was blurted out before he could even think through all the repercussions.
"Do you need a ride home? Since it's raining and all."
"Yeah! That'd be great."
Following the locker incident, you began to wave at him and exchange quick greetings with him in the hallways. It was a minor change, a verbal acknowledgment instead of silent smiles and polite nods, but that didn't stop others from giving Eddie dirty looks. After all, why was the most popular girl in school giving any time of her day to the resident school freak?
Truth be told, he didn't understand it either. But he wasn't going to complain either, only returning the gestures wholeheartedly. This amicable state of acquaintance - knowing each other's names and being friendly, but never crossing the line into friendship - was broken less than a week later, when he was sitting in Mr.Wilson's office and being lectured about how he really needed to get his grades up.
"I've assigned you a tutor. She's one of my star students and she's kindly agreed to tutor you for free, so please do show up on time and try." the elderly man sighed under his breath, pushing his metal rimmed glasses up the bridge of his nose before shuffling through a stack of papers.
"Her name's (Y/n). I'll leave the specifics of the arrangement up to the two of you, but the expectation is one session every week or two. Understood?"
"Understood, sir."
So here he was now. Standing in front of your house, double checking the address scribbled down hurriedly onto his notebook for the hundredth time, agonizing over what to do. Should he knock? Ring the door bell? He was a few minutes early, maybe it'd be best to just wait for you outside-
"Hi there!" you exclaimed, throwing open the door excitedly, making him jump back in surprise. "Come on in, we can go up to my room."
Your hands were preoccupied with drying your wet hair with a towel - it looked as if you had just emerged from the shower, the thought of which made his throat dry, a dirty sight he had to immediately scrub from his mind. Not that it worked particularly well, not when you were wearing an oversized black t-shirt that showed off your legs and the cheerleading shorts you had on hugged your thighs perfectly.
Carefully eyeing the living room and kitchen, he half expected for your parents to jump out and begin to interrogate him as to his identity.
"Are your... parents around?" he'd asked quietly, fingers anxiously twiddling by his sides. You shook your head sideways.
"My parents work out of state most of the time. My godfather drops by every few days though to make sure I'm fine though."
He raised his eyebrows at that, following behind you up the stairs.
"Doesn't that get lonely?"
You hummed, dabbing the last droplets of water from your forehead.
"I guess so. But Hopper - my godfather - has a lot of friends in the community so I get invited over to a lot of things. Plus cheerleading and school stuff keeps me pretty busy so it's not too bad."
You then pushed open the door to your bedroom with your shoulder, stepping backwards to let Eddie in first.
He marveled at how well organized your room was: sunflowers potted by the windowsill, a collection of vinyls leaning against a propped up vinyl record player playing a slow Whitney Houston song. White wardrobe pushed against the wall next to pastel pink drawers, makeup and skincare products neatly placed one after another.
Your cheerleading uniform was ironed and nicely draped over a cushy velvet chair, a full length body mirror with polaroids of you and your friends stuck to its sides on the white wooden frame.
You led him over to your study desk, pristine and white, and gestured to the chair to your left. He was still drinking in the sight of your room as you closed the door shut and hung your towel over the frame of your bed - which was complete with frilly lace sheets, pink and yellow cushions, bumblebee patterns stitched into the fabric.
In summary, Eddie thought, the whole room was so damn... clean and cute. A stark and sore contrast to his messy room, unfolded laundry everywhere and his walls crowded with his guitar and various metal band posters. He was just grateful now that he had insisted on doing the first session at your place instead of his.
"Everything okay?" you questioned, noticing his silence and awed expression. He blinked at you wordlessly at that, mind blanking in an instant.
"Yep! Amazing. Awesome, really. Just very stoked to get started on this exciting English Literature." he boasted, tapping his hand down on the thick textbook. You giggled at that, leaning against your chair.
"Listen, I know that Steinbeck and Fitzgerald aren't as exciting as Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath, but I promise you that there's a charm to these authors as well."
"You know about Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath?" Eddie perked up at that, pleasantly surprised. You rolled your eyes playfully, as if it was common knowledge.
"Duh, what else would I listen to whilst I jog? I can't say I'm as big of a fan as you, but I do listen to a bit of everything and metal is a cool genre."
It was his turn to chuckle, leaning forward onto the table to rest his head on his palms.
"You know, (L/n), you're not at all like what I'd expected you to be."
"What'd you mean by that, Munson?" you challenged, quirking up your eyebrows teasingly, his heart skipping a beat at the action.
"Nothing bad, I promise! Just, I don't know, your friends aren't as friendly or as cool as you."
You click your tongue at that, faux frown on your glossy lips.
"But aren't we friends? And you're plenty cool and friendly."
Friends. The word felt heavy on his tongue, goosebumps rising on his skin. Plus, you'd called him cool and friendly - by far the nicest thing any popular student had ever said to him. All logic flew out the window at that moment, walls tumbling down faster than the next words on his lips.
"Of course we're friends."
It was dangerous territory, a quiet voice was nagging him in the crevices of his mind that this was totally new and treacherous - accepting the friendship of the most popular and desired girl in school. The sirens were blaring in his head, red warning signs clouding his vision.
But Eddie consciously chose to turn the other way, running farther into your embrace.
"Cool. Glad to hear it, friend."
Once the initial hurdle was jumped over, the label of 'friends' hanging over you and Eddie, everything fell into place. Weeks flew by with tutoring sessions filled with inside jokes and excited ramblings, with Eddie taking every chance to insert a dirty joke in somehow to make you laugh.
He walked you from class to class at your insistence, your sharp glare at any staring passerbys enough to shut them up. Conversation was never awkward, there was plenty to talk about. His D&D sessions, the latest Metallica record, the next football game that Eddie would begrudgingly turn up to (but ultimately always would, just to be able to hug you in celebration afterwards).
It was all platonic, he told himself. Sure, he thought you were pretty and fun, but that didn't mean anything. He had it all under control, he reasoned, no, insisted. He was feigning igornace, arguing with his inner voice that it was all just excitement and nerves over having a friend who was popular.
"A lot on your mind?" you asked him a few months later, tongue swiping across the top of your ice cream, legs uncrossing underneath your cheerleading uniform.
You'd insisted on celebrating his first A in English Literature by going out for ice cream - "it's on me" you'd added, making it impossible to say no. It was a sizzling hot summer day and both of you were seeking refuge under the shade of a large willow tree, sitting on the roof of Eddie's van with him only a few inches separated from you.
'Yes.' Eddie wanted to say. 'I can't stop thinking about you.' he wanted to confess. 'I hear your laughter whilst I fold my clothes. I see you in the corner of my eyes everywhere I go, laying on my sofa with your legs dangling off the armrest, smiling at me in the rearview mirror from the backseat of my car.'
But he didn't say that.
"Not really. Just still reeling from the fact that I got an A." he joked, choosing to suppress his inner thoughts.
"Aw, well, you're a lot smarter than you give yourself credit for, Eds. This is just the beginning, I know it."
Humming, he shot you a quick wink.
"I'll take your word for it, doll."
Both of you fell into a comfortable silence after that, until a loud shriek was heard from inside the ice cream store. A girl Eddie vaguely recognized from one of his classes was nodding fiercely and hugging her boyfriend close, making his eyebrows raise in piqued curiosity.
"Oh, probably just a promposal for the dance next week." you commented lazily, tongue flicking at the top of your cone.
"Are you... going?" Eddie tested the waters, eyes cautiously picking apart your reaction.
"Yeah, I am! Jason's being really difficult about the color palette we're matching as though. He wants pink and blue, I'd rather we do yellow and blue or pink and white."
Eddie's vision flashed white at the mention of Jason's name, bone chilling cold seeping through his chest.
"Jason as in... Jason Carver?"
You nodded, and the pain he felt upon seeing the fond smile that spread across your lips instantly felt worse than a million needle pricks at his heart.
"That's him. He can be kind of difficult at times but... he's my boyfriend and I love him, you know?"
Eddie knew he'd never have a chance with you. He never deluded himself into that fantasy, but now it was confirmed, written in clear black and white: you were taken. Not only that, but you loved Jason Carver. He was your boyfriend.
It made total sense. How had Eddie not noticed it before? Perhaps you had mentioned it to him previously, an off the cuff comment here and there, but Eddie wasn't listening carefully. Too intoxicated on your quiet giggles, too busy admiring the golden sunlight kissing your hairline.
It was impossible to prevent the smile from dissipating from his face, a forced grin instead replacing his genuine warm smile.
"Yeah. Makes sense, I guess."
"How about you, Eds?" you excitedly asked, slapping him lightly on the shoulder. "Anyone caught your eye that you want to take to the dance?"
It burned his mouth to respond, heart throbbing, fingers strained by his sides.
"Yeah, but uh... I don't think I'll be able to make it, so I'm not going to ask her."
You frowned at that and there were a few drops of strawberry ice cream hanging from your lips, which Eddie reached out to wipe away with his thumb instinctively.
"S-sorry." he muttered out, retracting his hand quickly as if he'd been burnt.
"Yeah, you better be." Jason barked out from behind Eddie, making him straighten up in alarm, not having heard Jason's car pull into the parking lot.
The jock glared at Eddie as he walked around to wrap a possessive arm around your waist, pulling you right against his figure. Your widening smile was unmissable, so was the way you kicked your legs forward in delighted joy when Jason suddenly swooped down and pressed a harsh kiss against your lips.
Eddie awkwardly averted his gaze as Jason continued to glare at the metalhead from over your shoulder, deepening the kiss possessively, his vice grip only loosening from your waist when you patted him on the back indicating that you needed air.
"Ready to go, babe?" Jason asked, not even missing a beat. You nodded, scrunching up the paper cup in your hands and throwing it away to the nearest bin.
"I'll catch you round?" you asked cheerfully, linking your hands with Jason and shooting Eddie a hopeful smile. The smart answer to give would've been to make up an excuse, to cut the friendship there and for good - especially with how Jason was steaming with anger next to you, blue icy eyes narrowing in on Eddie's figure.
There was a storm brewing, toxic smoke billowing into the air. But Eddie stood there, unwavering, only nonchalantly rolling back his shoulders and winking at you.
"Yep. See you round."
Jason's hatred for Eddie only intensified as time went on - you'd tagged along to a D&D session once and the jock found you leaning over Eddie mid-dice roll, metal ring clad fingers on top of yours as he guided you. Eddie waited for you after school whenever you had late practice to drive you back home, only for Jason to then pop out of nowhere and insist on driving you home (though he lived in the opposite direction from you).
"I don't fucking trust you, freak." Jason once spat the moment you ran off to the bathroom, leaving the two men to be standing around your locker. "I don't know what the fuck my girlfriend sees in you, but you better not be dragging her into any of your shit."
Eddie clenched his jaw, fists grasping and ungrasping by his sides in an attempt to control his anger.
"Relax, Carver. We're just friends."
Jason just rolled his eyes at that, stepping forward threateningly.
"Yeah, friends. Just don't get your dick hard thinking she's yours. She shouldn't be wasting her time on you anyways."
Eddie's blood boiled at the way the basketball player talked about you, wanting to control and dictate everything you did.
"She's not property for you to fucking control, jackass." he retorted, only succeeding in causing Jason's nostrils to flare with fury.
"I'm back, and I- Oh." you paused, noticing the tension lingering in the air and the defensive postures. "Is everything alright?"
The boys stared at each other silently, hatred still tinging the air, but it all melted into fake smiles on both their faces when turning to you.
"Yep." they both affirmed.
"Everything's... perfect. Just as it should be." Jason slowly drawled, eyeing Eddie up and down. It was a threat, an alarm bell ringing right by his ears. It dawned on Eddie that this was becoming unavoidable now, the mess that he was in, his love for you an unstoppable tornado.
It was incredibly reckless to continue to be friends with you. But god, it felt so damn good.
So out of selfish nature or not, Eddie didn't pull away. He chose to clutch on to you tighter, grit his teeth harder, damn all the consequences that would follow. He'd wander closer into the eye of the storm, wholeheartedly and willingly, all for you.
Though Jason wasn't silent about his unhappiness over your friendship with Eddie, you never let it affect you. So Eddie continued to be your friend, maybe even best friend at this point after six months, what in between Saturday movie nights and late evening talks on the bleachers after practice.
Eddie forced himself to be content with being your go-to platonic company: of helping you pick out a dress for your date with Jason whilst leaning against the headboard of your bed, carrying your things for you at school as you rushed to class after cheerleading practice, laughing with you over a pack of cheep bear in someone's backyard during a loud house party.
It hurt - doing all the things couples did, but under the label of friendship and under Jason's persistent gaze. After all, Eddie was the one to hold your hair back when you'd had too much to drink at the end of year summer party, helping to wipe your mouth with a stray towel and gently guiding a water bottle to your lips.
Your boyfriend was nowhere to be seen, having ditched you the moment his fellow basketball players called him over. It made Eddie furious, how it seemed Jason only wanted you as a trophy to show off to the school before abandoning you in favor of his friends, but you seemed to be blind to it.
Besides, Eddie reasoned, who was he to intervene? Overall, you were happy, right?
The metalhead wasn't even in the bathroom with you for more than three minutes when Jason came pummeling through the door, chest heaving with anger upon having been told that you were seen stumbling into an empty bathroom with Eddie 'the freak' Munson.
The jock never said it - at least in front of Eddie - but it was clear that he suspected something more than friendship, you two always tilting dangerously close into romantic territory. Jason ordered Eddie out, insisting that you were in need of your boyfriend instead of him, and with a heavy heart Eddie sighed and wandered back into the party.
He still thought about you the rest of the night though, no matter how many jaegar bomb shots he downed.
Come autumn, and it wasn't just Jason who saw what was going on. At this point, you were beloved by everyone in the Hellfire Club and you'd even swung by Eddie's trailer multiple times. Wayne and the kids would all tease Eddie for his clear infatuation with you, which Eddie would vehemently deny, though he knew deep down they were right.
"So are you ever going to admit that you like her?" Dustin teased, knocking his shoulder into the older boy's.
They were sitting on the railings of the skate park, the boys having lost a game of rock-paper-scissors with Max to pick between going to the arcade or to the skate park. The redhead was busy coaching you on how to skate - your legs wobbly on the skateboard as Max held onto your arms, wide amused smiles on both your faces - whilst Lucas and Mike ran off to the corner store to get some water.
"What, (Y/n)?" Eddie tried to play dumb.
"Duh, who the hell else?" Dustin retorted, appalled that his friend would even try to feign ignorance.
Both boys picked up their heads at the sound of loud laughter, your back on the pavement as you seemingly fell, Max laughing so hard that she had tears in her eyes and was hunched over to clutch her stomach. The fond smile gracing Eddie's lips was instantaneous- you were always so good with the kids, they all adored you. The boys pestered you for gaming tips, Max and you bonded over music, Erica thought you were the "coolest adult" she knew.
It made Eddie fall even deeper for you, his heart now fully in the eye of the hurricane. You were ripping down all his walls, your laughter destructive and haunting. You left him dizzy and stumbling through the hallways, heart heavy with infatuation, lips aching to be on yours.
"There. Right there." Dustin commented, pointing right at Eddie's face. "You get that stupid grin on your face whenever she smiles or talks or shit, does anything really. We all have bets on when you're finally gotta make a move, so when are you?"
Eddie shoved off the curly haired boy, fingers scrambling to brush off the sleeves of his jacket in false boredom.
"For the millionth time, Henderson, she has a boyfriend. Said boyfriend, who by the way, hates me and frankly I don't feel like being a homewrecker." he spat, venom dropping from his voice at the thought of Jason. Letting out a short exhale, he flashed the younger boy a tired smile.
"Besides, we've been friends for like, what, over half a year now? The ship has sailed, I've got no chance."
"You're just saying that because you don't see the way she looks at you." the younger boy insisted. "Seriously. Friends don't look at each other like that."
Eddie had nothing to say to that, you looking up from the opposite site of the skate park to wave at the two boys with delight, which they both quickly returned. The fluttering in Eddie's stomach was easy to anticipate at this point, as was the heavy pang in his heart at the realization that Jason would be coming to pick you up in a short bit.
"She's just being nice, Dustin." Eddie muttered, running a shaky hand through his hair.
You looked ethereal whilst skating, so carefree, hair flowing in the wind as your knees bent and braced for the dip off the edge. Fading red orange sunlight accentuating the dip and curve of your facial features, autumn foliage stuck in your messy hair.
You'd come into his life, a tornado, and destroyed his whole being. He was wandering alone now, knees brushing up against green fields with nothing but trees surrounding him, but Eddie didn't mind.
So long as he got to continue to watch you smile like that.
Cut to the present, Eddie's mindlessly filling out the pop quiz, brain still fuzzy from your touch lingering over his skin, ghostly yet ever so present. The rest of the class flies by and it's the end of the school day, so Eddie quickly moves to shove his things into his bag, crushing all his paper notes with the haste with which he does so.
"Any plans for tonight?" you ask, tossing your bag over your shoulder.
It's Friday night, which to everyone else means parties and fancy dinners, but to Eddie it usually means going back to the trailer and watching a rerun of a shitty sitcom over a bowl of microwave mac and cheese. Not that he'll tell you that, though.
"Not really. Why, up for another spontaneous drive through town?" he teases, heart fluttering hopefully. You sigh and shake your head sideways.
"Can't - Jason's taking me out on a date, but... rain check for maybe next Friday?" you question, peeking up from your lashes.
"Sure, next Friday." the bitter smile and forced ambivalence to his tone is painful, but it's a dull ache he's made peace with at this point. "If anything changes, you know where to find me." Eddie jokes, cocking his head to the side.
And unexpectedly, things do change.
In the blink of an eye, it seems.
Eddie's mid-way through the rented copy of Evil Dead, hands stuck in a greasy bowl of popcorn as he lies chest down on the sofa, blue light from the television illuminating his tired face, until someone bangs against his trailer door furiously.
Jumping up at the sudden loud noise, he pauses the VHS tape, abandoning his bowl of popcorn on the couch before throwing open the door.
It's you, mascara running down your cheeks, arms crossed over your chest, clutching at your skin so harshly that the baby blue dress you're wearing bunches at your waist.
"I broke up with him." is the first thing you say, voice shaky, body still trembling. "He said some, fuck, awful things, Eds. Really awful things. I had no choice and I know it was the right thing to do but-"
Your voice breaks as another wave of tears overwhelms you.
"But then why does it still hurt?"
Eddie's quick to shush you and envelope you into his arms, not caring that your makeup is probably smudging against his shirt, his hands coming up to comfortingly cradle your head against his chest. Your body trembles with every sob that escapes your lips and Eddie presses a soft kiss to your hairline, wishing nothing more than to take your pain away from you.
His mind is whirring with a million different things to say to you, but your comfort is on the forefront of his mind above all.
"Hey... have you ever been to the park by Saint Street? You know, the one with the playground." he quietly suggests, pulling away slightly.
You look up at him, confused, wiping your eyes.
"I don't think so, why?"
Picking up the jean jacket thrown over his kitchen counter, he digs out his car keys from the side pocket and extends his left hand out for you to grab.
"Because. We should go. It's impossible to be sad at a playground."
It's a stupid thing to say, childish even, but it does the job of putting a smile back onto your face, your cold hands grasping his warm ones. It's a quick drive - no less than 15 minutes - but he can't help but look over at you at every intersection and red light, making sure that you're okay.
He jumps out first to open the car door for you before helping you climb over the metal fence - "no one comes by, I swear" he assures you - shaky feet meeting dead leaves and dirt, he's quick to tug you towards the swing set.
He refuses to let you talk - "play first, until you stop crying" - and he insists on pushing you on the swing as high as he can. He chases you down the slides then races you to the top of the jungle gym, drunk off of your bubbly laughter and the way your eyes twinkle in the moonlight.
Neither of you know how much time has passed before you two sit across from each other on the seesaw, ribs hurting from the lack of oxygen. You can faintly make out Eddie's features in the dark - moonlight illuminating his curls, amused grin on his handsome face (the same face you've been unable to stop thinking about for the past few months).
"So what'd Jason say?" Eddie asks, leaning forward. "But only if you wanna talk about it, of course." he clarifies.
You let out a slow exhale, nodding tiredly.
"No, no, you... you deserve to know. Jason was on edge at the restuarant - I didn't think much of it, he's always a bit on edge - but he just went crazy today. Like, the moment the waiter left he started screaming at me, accusing me of cheating on him."
"Cheating on him?" Eddie strains his neck with the speed with which he picks his head up to stare at you, wide mouthed. "You? You would never!"
You scoff at that, thumbs anxiously twiddling on your lap.
"I know. That's what I tried to tell him but he wouldn't hear it. Just kept on going and on about how I was clearly in love with-" you stop yourself then, the gravity of the situation falling into place like dominoes.
You just broke up with your boyfriend of nearly a year. You came to Eddie crying, showing up at his doorstep in a heartbeat. Now you two are staring at each other in the park, leaned over opposite sides of a fucking seesaw, pouring each other's feelings out into the chilly winter air.
"With who?" he furrows his eyebrows and you almost want to laugh at how oblivious he is. You suppose maybe you've been hiding it well - well enough for Eddie to not notice how your touch has always lingered a bit too long on his skin, how your head so easily found home in the crook of his neck, how you began to prioritize meeting up with him over your fellow cheerleaders.
But not well enough for Jason, eagle eyed and jealous, constantly hovering over your interactions with Eddie and deluding himself with the gossip around school that you'd gone further than that.
"You."
It's whispered, heart falling to the bottom of your stomach at the confession now lingering in the open, cold and heavy.
"M-me?" Eddie stutters, clearly taken back. You lick your lips, chapped and dry, your shaky breaths coming out in small whisps of white smoke.
"Yeah. Jason insisted that it was clear that I was cheating on him with you and that we were spending way too much time to be just friends, and he... he called me a lying slut. Straight up. Screamed that I was whore to my face, demanded to know how many times we fucked behind his back."
"W-we never even kissed!"
"Yeah, I know." you chuckle sadly, shaking your head sideways, blinking away new tears which spring to your eyes. "But Jason didn't believe me. I dumped him, left him with the check and... I don't know, didn't feel like going home to an empty house. And I just... all I could think about was how much I wanted to see you."
Eddie doesn't know what to say to that. So he takes the safe route, nodding sympathetically and flashing you a small grin.
"Well, I'm glad that you did. I hope me dragging you to the playground wasn't the wrong thing to do." he teases, attempting to lighten the heavy mood. It works, soft grin tugging at your face.
"Yeah it definitely wasn't. Coming here was perfect."
The night breeze blows against your bare shoulders and it hits you that you really aren't dressed for the outside. Even if winter is only beginning to slowly roll in, it's still chilly enough to see your breath in front of your eyes in puffs of smoke and you've been sitting still on this seesaw for a while. So Eddie steps off to shrug off his jacket, musky earth tones warming your senses as he places it carefully around your shoulders.
"Thanks." you mutter, fingers grasping the lapels of the fabric.
"Don't mention it." he responds, waving you off.
A few beats of silence pass and then you throw your head back, staring up at the night sky full of stars.
"You know, weirdly though, I'm kind of relieved."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah. Deep down, I knew it wouldn't last. Too many red flags, you know? I just keep on ignoring them because... I don't know, really. Don't like change."
"I get that."
"God, feelings suck." you chuckle, shaking your head sideways. "Don't they? Pining, infatuation, love."
Eddie hums, nodding along.
"I'm there with you. For example-" he pauses. He's staring the storm right in the eye now, he has to made a decision.
He's tired of running, he decides.
"The girl I've been fawning over for almost a year now has been totally blind to my love for her and I'm exhausted." he makes it a point to stare straight at you with an unwavering intensity. "But she's worth it."
It's a shot in the dark but there's a surge of courage and adrenaline pumping through his veins, and the dark makes him more bold. He blames it on the wind rush, the night high, how beautiful you look in that velvet blue dress.
"She sounds like a very lucky girl." you choke out, mind blanking unexpectedly. Eddie nods and walks up towards you slowly, your throat running dry under the intensity of his stare.
"Yeah, and she's incredible, too. Head cheerleader. Great English Literature tutor. So funny, so kind, so damn beautiful, especially in blue. Great with kids, loved by my uncle, and I just heard-" his left hand comes over to brush up against your cheek. "That she's single. Funny how things work out like this, huh?"
You nod wordlessly, entranced by his warm brown eyes.
"It is."
You stand up cautiously, never once breaking eye contact with him, leaning in closer and closer. Eddie's expecting you to pull away from him in any instant, disgust springing onto your face or apologies falling from your lips, but you remain still. Your lashes fluttering shut is the last sign he needs before he commits to closing the gap and kissing you squarely on your lips, knocking the cold air out from your lungs.
It's a cold night but his skin's on fire, left hand springing up to cup your chin, other hand supporting your neck as he tugs you in even closer. You taste like cherry chapstick and smell like French perfume, velvet fabric brushing up against his arms as he backs you up against a park bench.
It's a messy kiss, all teeth and tongue, but he can't give a fuck. Not when his heart is soaring, fingertips electric, mind hazy at the realization that he is finally kissing his dream girl after a whole year of pining.
"Holy shit." you manage to say when you two pull apart, hair slightly messied and lips wet and plump.
"I hope that's a good holy shit, princess." Eddie teases, the nickname causing your stomach to flutter with butterflies.
"It's a good holy shit. A really good holy shit." you confirm, nodding fiercely. You both laugh at that, warmth blossoming across both your chests.
"W-why didn't you ever say anything?" you stutter out, head still reeling from the passionate kiss.
"I wanted to. God, I wanted to so many times. I knew I was falling for you from the beginning, all these little indicators and signs and the intrusive thoughts. But I kept on ignoring them and by the time I realized I loved you, I knew you were with Jason and you two seemed happy. And I didn't want to be selfish and intrude on your happiness like that."
He tugs you down onto his lap, sitting both your bodies down on the metal bench. Your hands come up to carress his cold cheeks, trembling thumbs rubbing up and down his jawline, eyes admiring the freckles on his nose and the specks of moonlight in his hair.
"Well, no need to ignore those warnings anymore, huh?" you say quietly, voice heavy with adoration.
He just nods, head falling forwards to rest on your chest, hearing your soft heartbeat through velvet fabric.
"Absolutely."
Eddie ignored the tornado warnings.
But in the wreckage, you two found each other, hands desperately grasping each other's in the darkness.
Burrowing his head into the crevice of your neck, he's content to stay with you in the aftermath of the disaster, so long as you continue to grip onto him like this.

a/n: this was based on the song with the same title by Sabrina Carpenter! Please go stream and support her new album, 'emails I can't send', it is fantastic and there are so many other bangers on the album.
Speaking of which, the way that the metaphor of the tornado is used in the song is kinda different from how I used it here but idk, I thought it was a cute concept and the song motivated me to write it haha. Not sure how this fic will be received but I loved writing it :)

Chapter 32: Come A Little Bit Closer
You groaned the second your alarm went off, placing a pillow over your eyes as you winced from the light being extremely harsh to your rather sensible senses. You checked the clock, you were pretty sure you had half threatened Sirius with making his life miserable through Moony last night and blinked a couple of times to force yourself awake.
After checking the time one last time, trying to convince yourself that the clock said 4:30 instead of 5:30 so you could sleep another hour, only to realize it wasn’t, you raised yourself until you were sitting on your bed “fuck,” you whispered as you felt the ache on your legs and back. You had rolled yourself into a ball, and while initially, the pain had been drawn out by the stress of the water spirit and the euphoria from the party, it wasn’t anymore. Just when I had started to feel fine, you thought.
You yawned and went to change, rolling your shoulders a couple of times, at least the shoulder wound was a lot better now, and the painkiller potion for that one would also help for the fall, which meant, by the time you were ready, and the meds had kicked in you felt a lot better, except for the fact that you were half tempted to wear a pair of sunglasses even if it was cloudy outside. When you walked down, Sirius and James were already there.
Sirius gave you a look, taking in your demeanour in an instant and smirking, “You sure you still want to fly, Vix?”
You gave him a look and huffed, “Very.”
He chuckled as he walked towards you and placed his arm around your shoulder, “If you say so then.”
James, who had no idea you had threatened Pads but had gotten a threat of his own in the morning from Sirius, to not go hard on you because of the fall –that he still had to speak his mind to you about– was a little confused with the interaction, but decided that it was probably something to do with being in a relationship. And since he had barely gotten Lily to go on one date with him, he really wouldn’t know.
Once you got to the pitch Sirius pulled out a small notebook from his pocket and opened it, handing it over to you, “Memorise this.”
You frowned, trying to figure out why Sirius would give you a notebook, but then you read some of the words and understood, it was the counterspell he had mentioned the previous night. You smiled, at how neatly he had written it down, at how he’d separated his cursive more than normal and paid attention to adding the extra dots and lines he sometimes left out.
Sirius had written it for you, and he wanted you to pay attention so he had been extra careful with it. And you, being as naturally curious as a fox, decided to snoop around the notebook a little more. There were a few silly doodles and for a minute you worried that he had given you his sketchbook, but it was definitely not it, that one was a little wider, and the cover was black, this one, on the other hand, had a wine red cover, a very Gryffindor notebook.
There were lists of songs, with names for mixtapes at the top on some pages, and a few movies some muggle friends had recommended, including some you and Remus had told him about. On some of the pages you spotted your name written on the edges, and you smiled, you didn’t know boys did that too.
“You done?” He asked as he turned to you, he had been pulling out some stuff from the shed with James. You quickly changed the page to the one you had to be on and smiled.
“Almost,” you said before trying to fully focus on the page and the words. They weren’t tricky, in fact, it was kind of a combination of protection spells you already knew, but it was rather long. His thick and delicate handwriting occupies the entire page and then some of the next one.
After a few more minutes you took a deep breath and nodded “I think I’m ready.”
“Good,” Sirius said, “Take your broom and hover for a bit.” You did as told. “Not so high silly, what if you fall?” he asked as he saw you float a few feet above his head.
“I won’t fall,” you said confidently.
“Vix, lower,” James said rather sternly, it was his captain’s voice. You were a little angry at his demanding tone but after a huff, you did as told. They were right anyway, you weren’t looking forward to falling again. You had enough bruising and soreness for the rest of the fucking year. Scratch that, for the rest of this one and the next one, you only had like thirty days left of 1976 anyway.
“Ready?” Sirius asked, you nodded. And then he started mumbling something, at first, there was nothing, you just continued hoovering peacefully, but then you felt it, a soft yank to the side. Slowly the movements got worse and worse and you felt like you were on a mechanical bull. Sirius looked at you concentrated, a small frown on his soft features as he did. Like he didn’t want to push too hard, but he knew whoever kept trying to push you off your broom –Barty– wouldn’t be merciful so he pushed on.
That’s when you started muttering the counterspell, tightening your grip on the handle and focusing your magic on your palms, letting it flow through your body and onto the item that was being jinxed. It wasn’t easy, wandless magic always held a small degree of complication, especially the more advanced it was, and counterspells were no easy feat.
Eventually, you lost the battle and ended up on the floor. Sirius rushed to help but you shook your head, raising your hand to indicate that he stayed in place, and then took a deep breath, “Again.”
“But…”
“Again,” you insisted “I have to master this one,” you added as you mounted your broom and nodded for Sirius to start again. James was watching attentively and allowed it to continue. Even after you fell over the second time, gritting your teeth and whispering “again.”
After a couple more times, it was James the one that stepped in. “How about we call it for today and continue trying tomorrow?” he suggested. You had just fallen from your broom and were sitting on the floor looking impossibly tired.
“But the spell…”
“James is right, we can practise more tomorrow, we’re not playing until next year anyway, we’ve got enough time to master it.”
You sighed but nodded, not even attempting to move from the floor for a bit while James and Sirius batted the bludger over each other a couple of times. You took Sirius’ notebook out of your pocket and went over the spell again, recalling if perhaps you had missed some words on the incantation or maybe it was the execution that wasn’t working properly. So you went over the words, reading them in your head and practising the spell as many times as you could.
“Hey Vix, let that go and come over, I need you to practise this,” James said when he noticed your overly concentrated stance.
It took you a second to pull your gaze from the paper but you nodded, feeling thankful that you’d get a distraction and then guilty for feeling thankful over it. Either way you pocketed the notebook, grabbed one of the beater bats and mounted your broom, flying towards them. After a while of beating the iron ball with as much force as you could muster, and using exclusively your good arm, you felt a lot better.
When you were done, you helped the boys with the equipment and walked alongside them all the way to the common room, where you parted ways to change into your respective uniforms. The entire day went by rather uneventfully, McGonagall had paired you with Remus on the transfiguration project and you were still going over crystal ball reading on divinations, although a bit boring, at least it was something you hadn’t any particular talents with.
Although, and you didn’t want to think much about it, there was definitely something dark surrounding the Ravenclaw tower. You decided that maybe you’d ask Sybil about it later, she had been taking extra classes with Spellman, so she’d probably know if something was up. You considered asking Spellman directly, but you were scared he’d end up blowing it off proportion and decided to just pretend you had seen a field with colourful flowers.
“What colour?”
“All the colours,” you said, knowing that if you said a particular one he might end up finding a deeper meaning behind your lie.
November 30th, 1976
The following day, you also woke up in time for morning practice, this time around you managed to stay on the broom for longer, but fell either way, and James didn’t allow you to practise as much as the previous day since he wanted to focus on dodging that morning, which had ended up on a very fun practice.
Sirius had almost gotten a bludger in the shoulder before you pulled him to the side and James barely managed to dodge one that had flown straight to his head. You were all laughing merrily by the time you were meant to go back to the dorms for breakfast.
Once you reached the common room you spotted Remus on one of the couches and plopped beside him, Sirius doing the same on the other side. “Ugh, you’re both sweaty,” he complained.
You pouted, “It’s magically cleaned,” you said dismissively as you sank a little deeper, neither you nor Sirius were actually sweaty since outside was so freezing cold. Well, perhaps just slightly. And Remus wasn’t bothered by you sitting next to him either, if anything, he loved it, he had to keep up appearances regardless.
“The couch is, I’m not!”
Sirius leaned his head on Remus’ shoulder, “Aww come on Moony, you’ll smell like your two favourite people all day. What’s there to complain about?”
Remus almost pushed the boy off him when Prongs intervened, “What do you mean his two favourite people, where does that leave me?”
Remus frowned at James, clearly interested in where the conversation was going, but it was Sirius who spoke, “On the armchair.”
James gasped, “Yeah, I don’t think you’d fit in here,” you teased further, a tiny smile spreading on your lips while you pointed at the little space of couch there was left. Now, if you and Sirius had been sitting like normal people, and Remus hadn’t had his legs spread wide, perhaps you could’ve found a way to fit Prongs in, but none of you seemed interested in changing position.
“I refuse to be left out!” he said with a frown.
“So what? You’ll use engorgio on the couch?”
“Too much trouble,” James said as he walked towards you and let himself fall on top of the three as if laying on the couch but using your legs instead.
“Oi, watch where that elbow goes,” Sirius complained.
“When was the last time you washed those?” you said with a frown as you stared at his murky-looking socks.
“They get washed every day!” James complained, “That’s their original colour.”
“No way in hell.”
“No,” Remus said as he shook his head. “that really is their original colour, we’ve been teasing him about them since he got them.”
You leaned over to look at James’ face, it was lying on top of Sirius’ legs “Why did you keep them?”
James went red, and Sirius responded, “Lily gave them to him, last Christmas I believe.”
“Yeah,” James said proudly. “They arrived at my house by owl mail. She even wrote a note that said they reminded her of me.”
You threw a side glance at Remus, clearly seeing the irony in Lily’s note, that seemed to completely slip past James, back then and even now.
“We’ve got potions,” you sighed, leaning back just a little and allowing James to accommodate his feet better. They were a bit heavy, but at least they weren’t crashing against any bruises.
“Thought you liked potions,” Sirius said.
“I like hanging out with Rem at potions, but the potion we’re working on is so tedious I swear you need to add another gram of something new every couple of minutes.”
“At least it hasn’t blown up on your face,” James said with a shrug, remembering the way it had exploded on Tom the previous class, and Tom was actually good at potions. Thought, perhaps he had been a little distracted that day.
“We could skip…” Sirius offered.
“No, we can’t!” Remus said, “She’s lost enough classes with last week’s drama!” He then turned to you. “And don’t you dare leave me alone with the veritaserum!”
You took a deep breath and nodded “I wasn’t thinking of skipping,” you defended. “I was merely informing.”
“James Fleamont Potter!” You heard Lily’s reprimanding voice from the stairs. “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
James seemed a little confused, leaning up just a little to try and spot the redhead, “uh… Resting?”
“On top of your two freshly injured friends?!”
Both you and Remus started a chorus of “I’m fine” and “Oh… It’s okay Lily, I’m healed now, it doesn’t hurt anymore” but she took none of it. Walking all the way to the couch and forcing James to roll off of it. He fell on the floor and turned, looking at the kneeling figure with his charming little smile, like she was the only witch in the world.
You could tell Lily was fazed by it, especially when a little bit of red started to spread over her cheeks, you smiled, raising an eyebrow towards Remus who clearly had noticed too.
“Enough of that!” She told him with a slap on the arm. “Let’s get some breakfast, you must all be starving.”
“I second that,” you said with a nod.
“Yeah, me too,” Remus agreed.
“Hungry beasts, that’s the kind of people I surround myself with,” Sirius joked.
“If anyone’s a hungry beast here Sirius…” you started and threw him a look that had him gasp “Anyway… breakfast.”
All of you stood up and started walking towards the Great Hall, Peter was fast to catch up with you and Lily told you the girls were already there. Breakfast was as delicious as always, and you were so hungry you even took an extra slice of toast with jam and peanut butter to munch on on your way to potions.
“Pass me the Stewed Mandrake Root, would you? Sweetheart?” Remus asked as he stared at the cauldron with a bit of a frown.
“We’ve already added that,” you responded, leaning forward to look as well, the potion was a weird murky brown colour, not the mossy green that the book described it would be. “Did we measure wrong?”
“Maybe we spun it the wrong way around?” Remus said, just as puzzled as you, “You measured that one, you never measure wrong.”
“Yeah, I checked twice,” you agreed, that was something you had learned from Remus near the beginning of the year. And you were especially careful with longer and more tedious potions like this one.
You saw Snape snigger from the side as he stared at your cauldron, and you were about to flip him off with two fingers when Remus placed a hand over your forearm and gave you a look. You gave him a reproachful stare in response but he just raised an eyebrow at you and tilted his head a little. You huffed in response but held back the insults you had in store for Snivelus. You understood why Remus did it, getting in petty fights with the Slytherins had already gotten you almost killed once.
You sighed and went back to look at your potion, suddenly remembering, “There’s a troubleshooting guide at the end of each chapter, perhaps we can find something there?” you suggested and the two of you went straight to look through the book.
“I think… the only thing that could’ve happened is someone sabotaging the potion…” Remus said with a frown, “If we had added too much of any ingredient the result would be different colours. It would be red with too much Mandrake root, blue if we had undercooked the Syrup of Hellebore, and purple if it were because of the Bicorn Horn powder, but none of these mention brown.”
You bit your lip as you analysed the situation and looked around, if someone had actually sabotaged your potion, you’d have to figure out exactly what they had used to do it, to attempt and revert it, if it was even possible.
You started looking at people’s tables and the ingredients they had placed on them, Alison Prewet and Archie McMillan had a few ingredients that didn’t go in the recipe but neither of them was particularly good at potions so you couldn’t be sure it had been them.
Tim Klum also had some suspicious-looking ingredients, but by his nervous stance and recent rash, you assumed he was trying to brew something to counter it instead of sabotaging anyone else. Besides, you had barely crossed words with him, and you were certain he didn’t have anything against Remus, regardless you wrote down all the ingredients he had on his stable, identifying them by texture and looks.
Then you spotted something mysterious by Sirius’ table. Of course, Sirius would never sabotage you or Rem, but Severus? You wouldn’t put it past him, he could be a jealous little snake, although he had never done such a thing, and you weren’t sure why he would be sabotaging you now, the fact that he had Shivelfig, which was normally used for draught of living dеath made no sense. Unless he wanted to steal it for himself that is.
You turned to Remus “I have a hunch of who might have done it,” you mumbled, almost inaudibly, but he heard, and you knew he’d be able to hear it. He gave you an attentive look, “But I want to test my theory before we make a mistake.”
“What do you need?”
“Just a bit of someone else’s potion, that’s at the same stage as ours.”
Remus nodded, “I can do that, you?”
“I’ll get some Shivelfig.”
Both you and Remus nodded as you looked attentively at the other, he grabbed a small vial and started walking towards James and Lilly while you walked towards Sirius’ table.
“Hi Pups,” you said with a smile.
“Sod off,” Snape said when he spotted you.
“You do it.”
“This is my table.”
“Argh, c'est un idiot, comment tu le supportes?” You asked, looking at your boyfriend.
“I’m intelligent enough to know you’re calling me an idiot,” Severus said impassively.
"Très bien, casse-toi alors."
Sirius laughed at your crassness and Severus just rolled his eyes, not understanding what you said but figuring out you were either telling him to fuck off or piss off, which wasn’t that far from the real thing. “How come you’ve come to visit, Kit?” Sirius asked.
“Missed you,” you said simply, Sirius saw the mischievous smile you gave him and knew instantly you were up to something.
“Aww, you did?” he asked as he placed his hands on your hips and pulled you slightly closer to him, Slughorn was near the back of the classroom helping some Slytherins with a fire they had accidentally caused, which was enough distraction for you to be able to be all over Sirius at that moment.
“Oh, please, I’m going to puke…” Severus said as he rolled his eyes and turned to the side.
You forced yourself to hold back a laugh, Sirius, whose back was turned to Severus, and who had the least serious face you’d ever seen, wasn’t helping. “Devrions-nous lui donner un spectacle?” You asked in a low voice, trying to make it sound like you were flirting rather than just asking Sirius if you should annoy Severus further.
Sirius bit his lip, looking at you with a small frown before nodding, “Mh-hum,” he replied before leaning in to give you a kiss.
“Ugh please, we’re in class!”
“Go be jealous elsewhere, Snivelus,” Sirius pulled himself from the kiss just for a second to say that, going back and deepening the kiss a second after. Severus looked at the two of you in disbelief and then back at Slughorn, but he was way too busy with the fire in the back. Who would have thought adding a little bit of dragon breath to the potion would cause such a complicated mess?
You deepened the kiss, pushing Sirius back just a little and his back crashed against Snape’s shoulder, Snape pushed back and Sirius had to tighten his grip on you so you wouldn’t fall. You could feel he was about to laugh because of Severus’ reaction and you squeezed his arm just a little to get him to focus and he did, even let out a small, rather performative grunt, just to piss Severus further.
Severus was about ready to go get the teacher, or a prefect, or someone to get you to stop snogging in front of his face when you leaned in again, this time pushing Sirius’ arm strategically so it pushed their leftover Syrup of Hellebore, it wouldn’t do any harm to him since it had been cooked, but it would make his uniform stink after a couple of hours, and you knew he knew about it.
“Ugh!” he complained, “You pair of dimwitted animals!”
You pulled back from the kiss, just to give him a side glance, looking only mildly apologetic “Oops, sorry…”
Snape gave you a disgusted glance and stood up. “I’m off to clean this up, Black,” he glared at the boy, Sirius turned to him with an uninterested glance. “Please, for the sake of our passing grade, make sure our potion stays boiling at a steady temperature while I’m gone.”
“Sure Snivelus, I’ll make sure,” Sirius said with a rather indifferent shrug just to piss Severus off a bit more. Severus gave him an untrustful glance, but stood up and left. While he was leaving you went back to kissing, which seemed to piss Severus off even further, which made both you and Sirius smile in the kiss, you were half still kissing, half using each other’s mouths to hold back a laugh.
When you finally stopped, Sirius was biting his lip to hold back a grin while you were looking at him with lips pursed, still trying to hold back a laugh.
Sirius cleared his throat “Now that the crow’s gone, would you care telling me why you’re really here?”
“What? Kissing you passionately in the middle of class is no good excuse?”
Sirius raised his eyebrow “Oh no, I think it’s an excellent excuse, but I’m waaay more likely to use it than you are.”
You gave him a small smile, “I think Severus might have sabotaged my potion,” you admitted, “and I think he used this,” you took a hold of the jar with Shivelfig , “to do it.”
“We should ruin his potion then,” Sirius said instantly. You gave him a look, he raised an eyebrow “What?”
“Sirius, he’s your partner. If we ruin his potion…”
Sirius frowned, “Well, it’s not fair if he gets out scot-free.”
“Remus and I are trying to fix it.”
“And you can do it?”
You shrugged, “If he really did use shivelfig, we could try and find a way to counter its effect, or at least neutralise it.”
“So you came to get some.”
You nodded, “The kisses were a great bonus though.”
“I can give you many more bonuses, darling,” he said and leaned in again, but you felt a hand on your shoulder and turned around to see who was there, thankfully, it wasn’t Slughorn.
“You got that?” Remus asked.
“Yeah,” you said as you pulled a small flask with shivelfig from your cloak.
“Hold up! When did you even…?” Sirius asked, confused.
“I’m a girl of many talents,” you told him with a wink. “See you around, Puppy!” You gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and walked back to your table alongside Remus. “You got the potion?” You asked Remus, who seemed tense for some reason. He had seen the whole thing happen, and his head had started going haywire with so many thoughts running through his head.
“Yeah,” he responded, “James and Lily.”
Once you were both on your table, he poured half of his little flask on a crystal vase and you used a pair of tweezers to add the tiniest bit of shivelfig to the potion. Nothing happened and you frowned. “Maybe it wasn’t Snivelus in the end…”
“No wait,” Remus said, placing a hand on your forearm and taking a small stick, sipping it in the flask and turning clockwise three times, the potion turned the same murky brown as yours in an instant.
“Remus, that’s brilliant!” you said with a smile “The potion didn’t go brown until we spun it, and Severus probably knew, he could have added the shivelfig a while ago, that way we wouldn’t have noticed, and we would have just assumed we did something wrong.”
Remus nodded, “He’s an asshole, but he’s a competent one.”
“So now we know what he used, how do we neutralise it?”
“I’m not sure,” Remus said as he bit his lip.
“Sopophorous bean?” you asked. “Isn’t it used on draught of living dеath to neutralise the shivelfig’s poisonous nature?”
Remus shook his head “Yeah, but combined with Mandrake Root it can be dеadly, our veritaserum would end up being Baneberry Potion instead.”
“Shit, you’re right,” you said almost in a whisper. You frowned, racking your brain trying to find a solution only for it to clash against the rest of the ingredients. Your face started to fall when you started running out of ideas. No matter how much you thought about it, it seemed like there was no solution, which left you dejected since even if you had figured out exactly how they had sabotaged you, you wouldn’t be able to fix it.
“I might have an idea,” Remus said then, he had the same face he made when he was focused on a task, preparing a complicated potion or working on the details of a plan, it was that of absolute concentration. His eyebrows were slightly furrowed, his lips pressed tightly against the other, causing one of his scars to move along with his mouth. He looked cute.
“Wait… really? How?”
“I’ll go get some Moonstone… Do you have the charms book with you?” He asked.
“We… don’t have charms today…” you said. You used to carry it around all the time but after your shoulder wound carrying as little as possible was a lot more manageable, even with the floating spell you had placed on your bag.
“It’s fine, it’s somewhere in my bag, look for it, will you? Find the magnetism spell.”
“The magnetism…” you started with a slightly questioning look and then gasped. “Remus, that’s… has it even been tested before?”
Remus shrugged in response, “It’s either that or we do it over. Besides, we could test it with this,” he said as he pointed at the little vial that you had used to see if it really had been shivelfig what they had used to ruin your potion. He then leaned down and placed his bag –that he had carelessly thrown on the floor– on the table right in front of you. “Just be careful, there’s an extending spell inside so I can keep all my stuff. Might take you a while to find it,” he added right before he walked towards the ingredients cabinet.
He hadn’t been exaggerating, his bag was absolutely filled with things. You dug inside and could feel several books, you pulled them out, one by one, he had some books for classes, some library books that had gone overdue, the copy of The Godfather he had been reading you and Sirius, the copy you had given him of The Portrait of Dorian Grey when you discovered he was a Werewolf.
You’d told him he could keep it one time he mentioned he wanted to get a copy to annotate, which made you wonder if he had annotated the sides and you opened it, you had written some notes on the pages, notes he hadn’t erased, writing around the edges and under your own handwriting. And on ink, it was absolutely clear who had written what, and he’d even responded to some of the things you had annotated. You smiled, you’d have to ask him to borrow it to you one day, just so you could see what he wrote.
As you flipped the pages, something called your attention. Sirius’ name was written on one of the corners of the book, you frowned and looked at the page, there were a few highlighted quotes here and there, but there was something about Sybil calling Dorian prince charming and you chuckled. Yeah, you too would have considered Sirius a Prince Charming. You closed the book and placed it back on his bag, completely missing how Sirius’ name repeated over and over through the pages, how your name was doodled alongside his too.
How in one of the quotes from Basil, he had pointed out that Basil was just like him, fallen in love with the impossible, but that Basil had been lucky enough to only find one of those people rather than two, how miserable would Basil be if he had loved not only Dorian, but Sybil too? Perhaps half as miserable as Remus felt sometimes.
You continued to rummage through Remus’ bag, and you felt a small plastic bag, you assumed it was chocolate and took a hold of some of them out to ask him for one when he came back, you knew he would say yes anyway, but when you pulled your hand out, you were met with a strip of condoms instead.  You quickly put them back in, trying not to think of the fact that they were size L or the fact that he had so many of them. Does he not know about the potion? No, he definitely knows about the potion, I mentioned it at the Quidditch party. You swallowed thickly, you were sure you had flushed at least a little when you felt a hand on your back.
“You found it?” Remus asked. You were startled, and had to cough a couple of times to compose, Remus felt a lot taller to you at that minute, as if the size of the… nevermind, erase that thought, erase that thought.
“No, I– you keep a lot of stuff in your bag, Rem.”
“You didn’t find anything weird, did you?”
“Weird?!” you were sure your voice had gone an octave higher by that point. “No,” you coughed again, “Nothing.”
He looked at you as if he wasn’t convinced, “Cause if you did it was probably Sirius’ he leaves a lot of stuff in my bag.”
The idea of them being Sirius’ instead of Remus’ made you gulp, you were sure your cheeks would warm if you didn’t change the subject immediately, so that’s exactly what you did, “Found the moonstone?”
“Yeah, yeah,” he said, “back pocket,” he added as he dug his hand through his bag, “On the left, my left,” he added then, “where you’re standing.”
“Oi! I know where the left is!” you argued as you went for it.
“You didn’t know last time.”
“Though we settled on the fact that I just wanted to grab your ass.”
He chuckled, “You really can’t lose, can you?”
“I jumped off my broom to get the snitch, what did you expect?”
Finally, he pulled out the book, one of the condoms falling on the floor. He looked at it, and then at you, you were also looking at it “That’s…”
“I know what that is,” you said. “Spent last summer on muggle London, remember?” It had been pretty hard to forget the safe sex campaigns all over the bus stops near the biggest schools as you walked past them. And of course you, being naturally curious, had gone and read all the details they offered. At least you had learned a few things in the end.
“Alice gave them to me,” he said as he leaned down and grabbed it, placing it back in his bag as fast as possible.
Remus seemed genuinely flustered about it, which is why you couldn’t pass up the opportunity to tease him. “Oh, so you’re definitely having fun,” you said with a teasing smile.
“What?! That’s–”
“Hey! I don’t judge,” you added with a shrug, “I told you when I found your stash.”
“That wasn’t–”
“It’s fine Rem,” you said as you placed a hand on his arm. “You deserve to relax every now and then, if anything, you should use them up before they go bad… Although you do know the potion exists, right?”
“Please stop,” Remus said as he placed both hands over his face and leaned down on the table. He was flustered over you insinuating such things, more because he always thought about you when he did them with Alice than because you insisted on teasing him about her. If only you knew, heck, you would probably break off your friendship with him. As if anything Remus did would make that happen.
You only laughed and placed a hand on his back “All right big boy,” you didn’t say that on purpose, but it did make you think back on the size of the… no. “Back to the potion…”
“Yes,” Remus stood, the flush on his cheeks fading away slightly. Although the bits of red still made him look adorable, you almost wanted to get a picture of it. And then you wondered what he would look like if he were looking at a person he liked, little did you know that was exactly what he was doing.
All the while, Remus was flipping through the pages. “Here!” he said and pointed at the page, leaning closer to you so you could see the book, “So… the idea is to use the spell on the moonstone, but somehow make it attract just the shivelfig.”
“We could do it by combining it with a locating spell?”
“It was my idea too, but… how?”
“Hold up,” you said as you pulled a parchment from your bag, he pulled the quill closer to your hand and you dipped it in some ink before drawing some runes inside a small triangle. It looked a lot like what the muggles thought whichcraft looked like, and it was a little archaic, inexperienced wizards would say it was dark arts -it wasn’t- and regardless, it was still the easiest way to combine spells.
“Are you drawing a Nimueh diagram?”
You nodded, and he stared as you continued to add symbols and runes and lines around your paper. Once it was done you placed the stone on top. “You’re better with location spells, how about you say that one and I go for the magnetism one?”
“Have you ever done it?”
You shook your head “But I haven’t done a location spell either, you have,” you added with a shrug.
“Okay, let’s do this,” Remus said with a nod and offered his hand. You gently placed your hand over his and gave it a soft squeeze. “In three… two… one…”
Little did you know that while you chanted the spell, and almost with the whole previous interaction, Sirius had been looking at the two of you with absolute fascination. At the incredible team you made, at how cute Remus looked flushed and at how much fun you seemed to have around him, teasing him.  It was in those genuine, carefree smiles that you managed to pull out of his best friend, your best friend too, he remembered. It was in the chuckles he pulled out of you, in the way you moved around the table to get the ingredients, in the way you grabbed your parchment and he passed you a quill.
Sirius was so enthralled by the two of you that he didn’t notice Severus returning to his sit right next to him, “I told you to check on the potion you stu-”
Sirius turned around to look at the boy, annoyed. “The potion’s fine,” he said carelessly. “No one messed around with it while you were gone. Vix would never stump as low as that.” He said that last bit with venom, looking straight at Severus who narrowed his eyes. There was no way Sirius could’ve known, and yet…
“Do you think it’ll work?” You asked Remus, you had just finished chanting the spells, your hands sliding off each other a little too fast for his taste and the moonstone -that shone as you infused it with magic- seemed to be slowly fading into its natural state.
“There’s only one way to know,” Remus said as he took the small milky stone and dropped it straight onto your cauldron. You peered in, and slowly, the murky water took back the mossy green colour it should have had initially. Both you and Remus smiled relieved.
“You did it!” you said almost jumping in joy, placing your hand over his arm and squeezing lightly, “You’re absolutely fantastic!”
 Remus turned to you, his expression mirroring your own, “We did it,” he remarked “It was a team effort, you guessed what they’d used to sabotage us.”
You were both smiling brightly at each other when Professor Slughorn approached the two of you, “Are you finished with your potion?” he asked, “You seem rather thrilled.”
“We had a bit of a setback,” you admitted, “but we’ve managed to fix it, the veritaserum should be finished before the class.”
“A setback? Of what kind?”
“We got sabotaged, Professor,” Remus explained.
“Outrageous! Who would dare do such a thing, to such brilliant students?”
You were about to speak but Remus intervened “We do not know, but (Y/N) managed to figure out what they had used shivelfig, we used the knowledge for a spell on the moonstone and magnetised the unrequired ingredient to it.”
You gave Remus a look but decided to follow along, whatever reason he had not to rat Snape out, must have been good. You used your wand to pull the moonstone out of your cauldron, it was no longer white and seemed to be covered with a murky slippery substance. The shivelfig clearly had reacted with some of the other ingredients. You levitated it closer to your face to give it a look before letting it fall back down on the table.
“And you used a Nimueh diagram so that the shivelfig would adhere to the moonstone, clever!” He said as he pulled out the paper from the table and inspected it. He could see it was your handwriting, which is why he looked at you when he said it.
“Thank you, sir,” you responded, “But it was a team effort.”
He turned back to Remus as if just remembering he was there too, you narrowed your eyes at him, “Of course, of course,” he said dismissively, which pissed you off a little bit too much. “Please stay after class is over, I need to have a word with you.”
You looked at him, frown deepening but nodded. “Of course, Professor.”
“Excellent, so.. get on with it. I want to see how your potion comes out in the end,” And with that, he was gone, off to talk to some other students.
“The hell was he going on about?”
“It’s probably about the slug party,” Remus said with a shrug.
“The what?”
“His exclusive Christmas dinner, he only invites the best students.”
“You must have gone several times then,” you concluded.
Remus tensed, “No. Never been invited.”
You turned to him with a frown, “What but that doesn’t–”
 You were cut off by James, “You done, kids?”
“Almost,” Remus said, you passed him the last ingredient you had to measure and he placed it on the cauldron, stirring the potion three times to the right, finally the colour was transparent.
“You think it worked?”
You shrugged, “Only one way to find out,” you said as you grabbed a pipette, dipping it in the liquid and placing your finger on the hole at the top, moving it to your mouth and releasing your finger, allowing just a drop to fall on your mouth. You didn’t want the effect to last overly long. “Go on then, ask me something.”
“How many fingers do I have up?” James asked, raising his hand.
“Six,” you responded, “that was a stupid question, Prongs.”
James gasped at your reply “Rude.”
“What did you get on your transfiguration mock quiz?” Remus asked with a teasing smirk.
You groaned, not wanting to respond to this one. “I got a Dreadful,” you said, despite yourself.
“Wait, really?! Is that why you wouldn’t show it to me?” James asked as he leaned a little closer to the two of you.
You nodded, “I couldn’t transform the pot into a swan, I made something close to a chicken.”
“Close to a chicken?” James pressed.
“That was actually a dreadful animal,” you replied, trying to find a bit of humour in the situation.
“Well, our trickery worked, the potion’s great,” Remus said pleased as he pulled out a vial to place it in and hand it over to be graded. Pulling out a tag he had previously prepared and lacing some string on it to attach it to the top of the potion. It had “Veritasetum” and then both of your names at the bottom. All in a perfectly elegant-looking handwriting, he’d used caligraphicus to make it extra neat. He always did like the way your names looked beside each other.
You pulled a flask from your bag and also served some inside. “In case it comes in handy,” you told the boys, who both looked at you with rather impressed expressions as you placed it back inside your bag, now filled.
Lily called for James and it was you and Remus alone again, he leaned over, you might be pissed after what he was about to do, “Hey little witch,” he said softly. You were cleaning things around but turned to look at him, his expression unreadable. “Are you really not scared of me?”
You gave him a look, something between a frown and a comprehensive sigh. You took the pipette and let a few other drops fall in your mouth, more than you had done initially, “In case you thought that perhaps it had already worn off,” you said. “And no, Remus, I’m not scared of you, or Moony for that matter.” The boy seemed apprehensive, “Must I drink the entire cauldron for you to believe me?”
Remus sighed, a relieved chuckle escaped from his mouth. He knew you weren’t, you had been reassuring enough at the infirmary when you cuddled him as Vixen, but he needed to make sure. To make sure you weren’t lying just for his sake like he had discussed with Sirius the night before the prank. He smiled, diverted and decided to tease further, “So you definitely still want to be friends?”
You smiled. “Best friends,” you replied, “You couldn’t get rid of me even if you tried.”
“I have, it didn’t work, remember?” You hummed in response. And then he looked at your shoulder, biting his lip, the next question might actually piss you off, “Does it still hurt?”
You thought your answer through, “Less than before,” you replied eventually, it was true.
“But it does hurt.”
“Yes.”
“How much?”
You looked at the side, not wanting to answer, closing your eyes and sighing when you realised you wouldn’t be able to hold back. “I don’t know, like getting clawed at by a huge wolf, I suppose?”
“Do you resent me?”
You frowned. “Of course not! And I don’t resent Moony either, before you ask,” you said that last bit with an accusing finger towards him.
“And the fall?”
“More scary than painful.”
“Scarier than me?”
“You’re not scary!” You turned to him.
“Scarier than Moony?” he corrected.
“Yes.” There was silence. “The water monster… it was… nothing like Moony, frightening, hungry, unreasonable. Moony’s different, he– you are beautiful.”
There it was again, you calling him beautiful, you kept doing that over and over, and he thought it was just your protective nature, you wanting him to feel better about it, but with veritaserum, it was impossible to lie. Remus cleared his throat, looking to the side as he felt a flush going up his neck and you smiled, pushing him just a little. “Now stop asking me questions that make me sound all sappy!”
“Does it bother you?”
“Does it bother you?”
“That’s not an answer.”
“Told you to stop making me sound sappy, how would you feel I had you drink some and ask you questions?”
“I never had you drink anything!” he replied, offended.
“Right, you only took advantage of the fact that I had drunk it to ask your silly questions.”
“They were legitimate.”
“Most of them I had already answered Remus.”
“Only half answered,” he corrected. “You’ve said time and time again that you were fine.”
“I AM fine!” And that was true, again, you couldn’t lie. Did everything hurt? Yes. But other than that, other than the pain, other than the soreness, you were perfectly fine.
“And you truly believe it,” Remus said, surprised.
You smiled and pushed him again “No more questions,” you warned with a smile on your face.
“And here I was thinking of asking you if Sirius was good in bed,” Remus joked.
“I wouldn’t know,” you said before you could stop yourself.
Remus looked at you surprised, “You mean you haven’t–”
“That’s none of your business Moony,” you said as you started to flush. “We said no more questions.”
“Oh, but you’re always teasing me about things like this,” he said as he poked your arm with a sneaky little smile. “So you really never have?”
“Remus!” You reprimanded again and then sighed. “No, have not. We haven’t gotten there yet, okay? We’ve been busy with other things, if you can tell. Now do I have to go into details for you to stop it or…”
“No, it’s fine. I’m sorry.”
You huffed, “you’re too curious for your own good.”
You were right in more than one way. “If that isn't the cauldron calling the kettle black.”
You smiled and shoved him to the side again, he enjoyed the feeling of your hand on his shoulder, he was wondering how much he could tease you before you actually got pissed at him when the bell rang.
“I’ll take this to him and see what he wants,” you said as you grabbed the potion you’d finished.
“I’ll tell Nightshade why you’re going to be late,” he said as he placed the rest of his books in his bag, “I’ll take your bag too,” he said as he picked it up from the floor.
You frowned, “I can take my own bag, Moony.”
“I know, but it still hurts, doesn’t it?” he asked as he pointed at your shoulder.
You narrowed your eyes at him, he knew you’d have to tell him the truth still, you had taken more drops than you needed, you huffed out a “Yes” as you rolled your eyes, “But I’m perfectly capable of–”
“I know, and I don’t care,” he interrupted as he slung your bag on his shoulder. “I made that,” he said as he pointed at your shoulder, “Now I carry your bag.”
You scoffed, now diverted at your friend’s resolution more than anything, you were about to say something when Sirius shouted from the door, “You coming Moons, Starshine?”
“You fill him up, yeah?” You asked Remus just before you gave Sirius a wink, he blew you a flirty kiss in response.
Remus nodded when you turned back to him, and you gave up on fighting for your bag, after one last sight. “See you in class,” you told him with a wave and walked straight to talk to Slughorn, potion in hand.
“You’ve demonstrated to be a remarkable student the few months that you have been here darling.”
“Thank you, sir.”
“And not only in potions, you were brilliant at the Quidditch game and I’ve heard good things from Professor Bins and Seraphina. Flitwick also speaks highly of you.”
You tilted your head slightly, a small “hum” escaping your lips, you were sure  Slughorn wasn’t done with whatever he was about to say.
“And you’ve demonstrated time and time again to me that you are more than well-trained on potions.”
“It’s only been thanks to my pairing with Remus.”
“Ah… yes, your pairing with Mr. Lupin,” he said. “The way you switched the papers was undoubtedly clever.”
You gasped, “You realised?”
He just smiled, as if it had been obvious, “I picked the partners for everyone, of course, I knew. I just wasn’t sure how you’d managed to outmagic my spell. All at Potter’s request, I believe. He must have convinced you, that boy has been madly in love with Miss Evans for a while now.”
“But you didn’t say anything then.”
“If you had been smart enough to switch my charms, I assumed you’d be able to cope with Remus’ speed at potion making.”
“So you know he’s good.”
“Of course, Remus has always been remarkable.”
“Then why has he never been invited to the–”
“So you know why you’re here.”
“He might have mentioned something like a Christmas dinner.”
Slughorn nodded, “Yes, this is my cordial invitation to our dinner on the 20th of December. I know there’s still some time, but I thought you might want to know since you are always welcome to bring a guest along.”
“Could I bring Remus?”
“You may bring whomever you want.”
“But why isn’t he invited?” you pressed.
Slughorn gave you a look, you didn’t want to press too much, you had the suspicion it might have been due to bIood status, either that or Slughorn knew about his lycanthropy, either way, it just didn’t make sense to you that he wouldn’t invite Rem.
“For reasons that you are not and will not be aware of, I’m afraid,” he responded eventually.
“But I could bring him as my guest?”
“Yes, although I expected you to bring Mr. Black.”
That got you to pull your head back just a little, you had been so defensive over Remus, you had forgotten that the most logical person for you to bring along would be your actual boyfriend.
“Think about it,” Slughorn said with a small smile. “And tell me when you’ve made your choice. Now I don’t want to keep you for too long, it’s time to get to your next class.”
You gave him a courteous nod and left. You’d have to talk to Sirius about this.

Series Masterlist. Never Too Late Masterlist
4 hours into Monday and Javier Peña was already counting down the hours until Friday. It seemed like this week was going to have no problem giving Javi a swift kick in the ass back to reality after another blissful weekend with you and the girls, a grumpy frown falling upon his face, wishing he could rewind back just a few hours to when the biggest problems he was trying solved revolved around which book his daughters were picking out for bedtime, rather than strategy meetings on how to solve the better half of the southern drug trade still ranging in Mexico.
Rubbing his hands over his face and pinching the bridge of his nose between his fingers, Javi let out a sigh, grumbling low in his chest before running his hands through the dark curls of his hair, praying that the closed door of his office was enough to give his co-workers at the Laredo Sheriff's Department enough of a clue to let him at least try to enjoy his lunch in silence.
Shuffling and stacking a few stray papers left out on his desk, Javi cleared a space for the brown paper sack he mindlessly pulled out of his work bag, plopping it in front of him without a second look. He shuffled through the pocket he knew he had an extra fork in somewhere, considering he was at the point of eating his lunch with nothing but his hands before venturing out to the common kitchen where the rest of his co-workers were, ready to disrupt the sacred silence and peace that was his lunch time.
“Of course I forgot a fucking fork…” Javi grumbled to himself, abandoning his search in his bag after a few minutes, letting out another disappointed huff, leaning back in his chair and staring up at the speckled tiles of the ceiling. Javi was just about to get up, bracing himself for the perilous journey for a plastic fork he was about to embark on, when the corner of the lunch bag perched on his desk caught his eye.
Was that… glitter?
As his gaze shifted down the rest of his bag, Javi’s impatient and bothered demeanor had quickly shifted, a soft smile growing between his cheeks, picking up the lunch sack that had very clearly been given a makeover by his daughters before disappearing into his work bag this morning.
What was once a plain brown paper bag had somehow been turned into a hodgepodge of arts and crafts- glitter, pink and purple hearts, several stickers from separate collections of puppies, Star Wars, and unicorns, doodles and drawings from each of the girls, and a stray Batman band-aid that Harper must have added, considering the 17 she had covered herself in last night for fun.
Quietly laughing to himself at his girl’s creation, Javi spent a few moments thoroughly examining all sides of the bag, his heart melting to read “Daddy’s Lunch- From Lucy, Elliot, Harper and Mommy” scribbled across the front.
Carefully, Javi opened the top of the crinkly brown paper, revealing a plethora of surprising goodies inside, the first being a tiny stuffed cow and a fruit-by-the-foot that he obviously had no recollection of packing for himself last night. Setting the things down on his desk, Javi shuffled through the next added layer, this one consisting of another fruit-by-the-foot and a half eaten granola bar, which one of the girls clearly had gotten into before his lunch had departed from home.
 The last thing hiding lunch was a piece of paper that had been folded several times to fit inside the bag, Javi gently removing it with the rest of his surprise treasures. As he unfolded the now somewhat crumpled paper, the grin on his face began to grow wider and wider, seeing the colorful crayon creations doodled on the page. Before him, sat a paper with drawings of each of the girls done by themselves, perfectly embodying their tiny personalities. Lucy’s was neatly sketched and colored, and then outlined in a darker color to make the inside colors pop, Elliot’s had crazy scribbled hair and was holding a hockey stick in not one, but both hands, and Harpers was done in every color that the Crayola crayon box had to offer.
As if their adorable self-portraits weren’t enough to have him in a puddle, in the middle of their artwork was a drawing of Javi standing between them with the words “We love you Daddy!”  etched in big, pink bubble letters above them.
Javi had been so enamored by the art his daughters had made him, taking in every stroke and scribble on the page, he hadn’t noticed the smaller note that had fallen to his desk, your neat and careful handwriting etched across the paper.
Jav,
3 little munchkins were very insistent on re-making Daddy’s lunch last night, and even more insistent on decorating your very boring brown bag. They told me that they were adding a few surprises to your lunch, so this is me apologizing in advance for any half eaten snacks or stuffed animals that may have ended up in there. I hope you have a great day, we all miss you lots and can’t wait to see you later.
Love you lots,
Osita
Even though it was nothing but a few words scribbled down on a piece of paper and a drawing similar to one he had seen a thousand times before, it never failed to surprise Javi how something so small really did mean everything to him.
Years ago, still working for the DEA, in the midst of chaos and corruption in Colombia, one of his former agents had always insisted on carrying his “lucky” drawing from his son in his back pocket on every mission he was sent on. Back then, the idea of carrying a colored, crumpled piece of paper in his jeans for good luck seemed like a somewhat ridiculous notion, but now, as Javi stared up at the bulletin board next to his desk, overflowing with drawings, paintings, and projects from his 3 daughters, he couldn’t imagine a world where he didn’t hold any gift from his girls so near and dear to his heart that he ever dared to let it go.
Overlapping his newest artwork over the most recent crafts given to him to hang in his office, Javi hung today’s drawing at the front and center of the board, your note nestled next to it, beaming with pride at the love and and joy at how full his heart felt from a few simple pieces of paper.
Admiring just a little longer before reaching over to the phone at the corner of his desk, Javi began to punch the familiar pattern of your home phone number on the receiver, patiently tapping his fingers as the line rang, the other hand grabbing his actual lunch food out of the flamboyantly decorated bag.
“Hello?”
“Hey baby, it’s me.”
“Hi. Is everything okay?” You questioned cautiously, somewhat surprised by his mid-day work call.
“No, everything is-” He paused, smiling back his lunch bag, “everything is great. I just had some time during lunch and wanted to see if the 3 stooges are around so I can say thank you for my lunch.”
“Oh God, I almost forgot that was last night’s surprise project. How bad was it? I was only there to supervise lunch bag decorating because they were adamant they were more than capable than packing extra snacks for you.” You snickered, Javi practically almost able to see the hysterical look plastering your face through the phone, laughing right along with you at the adorable gifts they had left behind for him.
“Well, I got…” Javi stopped, reaching back over in his pile of goodies, “two fruit-by-the-foots, a stuffed purple cow, and a half eaten granola bar that has Elliot written all over it.”
“Is that Daddy? Did he get our lunch?! Did he like it?!” A chorus of little voices squealed in the background.
“Why don’t you ask him yourself.” You snickered, the muffled and muted sounds of the phone being passed off to the girls rustling through the other end of the line as Javi nestled his phone between his ear and shoulder, beginning to open up his food as he waited for a response from his daughters.
“Hi Daddy!” The 3 shouted through the phone in unison.
“Hola, pollitas! (Hi, little chickens) Thank you so much for my lunch today!”
“Did you like the bag, Daddy? It was my idea to make it look pretty because the brown is so boring.” Lucy boasted, in her lovingly know-it-all tone, making sure her dad knew she was without a doubt, the ringleader of the lunchtime antics.
“I added the extra snacks!” Elliot chimed in, making sure her voice was well pronounced through the phone ensuring that Javi could her her contributions.
“I helped-ed too!” Harper interrupted, trying to butt in over her sisters.
“Well, Mommy helped a little bit too, but it was mostly us!”
“Was it a surprise, Daddy?”
“Best surprise I’ve had in a very long time. I already put your drawing up on my board so everyone can see your beautiful artwork. I think everyone at work is gonna start thinking I have professional artists that live in my house.” Javi’s cheeks were already sore from the goofy grin that was only getting wider every second he listened to his daughter’s sweet little voices on the phone, the girls erupting in a fit of giggles at his compliment. “Los amos mucho, morritas (I love you so much, kiddos).”
“Hey Boss, you gotta second, I-” Agent Carter half knocked, opening Javi’s office door, stopping in his tracks as he met Javi’s cheerful grin turned death glare upon his arrival, slowly retracting his steps while Javi let out a scornful sigh, holding his hand out to get Carter to at least let him wrap up before dealing with whatever bullshit was coming his way.
“Hey pollitas? Daddy has to get back to work, but I’ll see you in a little bit when I get home, okay? I love you so much. Can you pass the phone back to Mom?”
“Okay, bye Daddy! Mommy! Mommy, Daddy wants to say goodbye!”
“The gremlins said you wanted to say goodbye?” You laughed over the clatter of the phone being handed haphazardly back to you.
“Yeah baby, I gotta go back to work, but I just wanted to say I love you and thanks for helping them with lunch, it was really fucking cute. I’ll see you later, okay?”
“The cutest 3 stinkers that I’ve ever met. I love you too, Jav. Bye, babe.”
“Love you, bye.”
As the dial tone went silent, Javi hung up the phone, taking in a deep exhale, still holding his hand out at his co-worker to preemptively prevent whatever what stupid remark was about to come out of his mouth.
“I wasn’t gonna say anything!” Carter winced, holding up his hands in defense at Javi’s death glare, trying his best to hide the sly smirk spreading between his lips. “…. I just never really struck you for a rainbow glitter type of guy.”
“Fuck off, Carter. Give me 10 more minutes to try and eat my lunch in fucking peace.” Javi groaned, trying to shoo him back out the door he had barged in from.
“Okay, okay, message received! I will say…I do think the glitter really does capture your bright and sparkly personality though, the unicorn stickers are really a nice-”
“Carter…”
“Sorry, sorry, I’m leaving! “
As the door clicked shut, Javi let his annoyance slip back to content, letting the colorful sparkle of his lunch back serve as his beacon of hope for the rest of the work day, thankful for the extra piece of home he got to keep with him until he got to see his girls again.
Tumblr media
“Hey, I’m home!” Javi’s familiar voice rang through the hallway, barely 3 steps through the front door before the girls were rushing through the house, barrelling towards their dad to attack him with the biggest bear hugs their little bodies could muster.
“Daddy!” They screeched, wrapping around every free inch of Javi’s body that they could reach, giggling as he crouched down to greet them, peppering them with ticklish kisses all over their faces.
“Hola, Pollitas! Oh, I missed you guys! Did you guys have a good day today?” Javi grinned, now letting the bags he was holding in his hands drop to the floor, collecting his daughters in his grasp, wrapping them up in the tightest hug he could manage through their excited squirms and wiggles.
“Yeah, we went to the park with Mommy and then we came home and played soccer and then ran through the sprinkler!” Lucy beamed, her sisters nodding in happy agreement, excited to tell their dad about today’s shenanigans while he was at work.
“I scored two goals on Mommy!” Elliot added, her face lighting up with pride at her accomplishment.
“No way! Nice stuff, Ellie Bellie!” Javi grinned, holding his hand out for a ferocious high-five from Elliot, pretending to shake his hand in pain at her strength, making the girls snicker at their dad’s overdramatics. “Hey, can you tell me where Momma is, I gotta go say hi to her too and then you can tell me all about the rest of your day, okay?”
“She’s in the kitchen making dinner!” Lucy replied, giggling as Javi pressed a long kiss into the top of her head, nestled between her messy hair.
“Mommy’s makin’ ‘pisgetti!” Harper cooed, Lucy and Elliot trying their best to keep from laughing at their youngest sister’s inability to pronounce spaghetti.
“Thanks, lindas (cuties). Why don’t you guys go clean up your stuff and then we can help Mom with the rest of dinner?”
“Okay!” The three agreed, dashing back through the house and disappearing down the hallways, Javi laughing to himself as he kicked off his shoes and picked up his bags, heading into the kitchen to find you at the stove, happily humming and swaying your hips to the radio playing in the background as you cooked, so wrapped up in what you were doing that you hadn’t realized your husband’s presence.
Quietly setting down his bags on the counter, Javi rested his hip against the stone ledge, arms crossed over his chest as he watched you work, wondering to himself if he would ever get over how even the simplest things like watching you make dinner made him fall more and more in love with you, the familiar warmth of home and you creeping through his cheeks in a soft smile.
“Hi, Momma.” He smirked, making you squeal in surprise as he snuck behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and pressing a soft kiss into your shoulder, rocking you back and forth in his grasp. “I missed you guys today.”
“Hi, handsome. We missed you, too. The girls haven’t stopped asking when you were going to be home since you called at lunch time. They were so excited you liked your lunch. Sorry if it was a little obnoxious. I tried to tell ‘em to go easy on the glitter, so hopefully none ended up in your food.” You chuckled, shaking your head at the image of the finished lunch bag that had made its way to work with Javi this morning. You turned around to face Javi, his hands still resting on your hips as you draped your arms over his shoulders, pressing up on your tiptoes to let your lips meet his, his mouth lingering just a little longer than usual as you felt his smile growing amidst his kiss. “What was that for?” You blushed, butterflies swirling in your stomach as his lips gently pulled away from yours, his thumbs rubbing soft circles on your skin in the space where your t-shirt and shorts parted.
“I love you so much. You and the girls, I just- I’m just so thankful for all of you.” Javi grinned, the soft brown of his eyes sparkling in the kitchen light, looking you up and down as if in awe of the fact that you were the woman he got to hold in his grasp at the end of each day for the rest of his life.
“I love you too, you goof.”
Before your lips could meet again, the happy giggles of your girls flooded through the kitchen, their little pitters and patters of their feet tumbling the hallway to greet the both of you again. Peeking over Javi’s shoulder, you cocked your head in confusion at the plastic bag your girls were now rummaging through on the counter, wondering what Javi had been shopping for on his way home.
“What’s in the bag, Jav?”
“Well…” He paused, making his way over to the kitchen counter with the girls, picking up the bag and tipping it over, shaking its contents out in front of them, “I figured, since the munchkins did such a good job with today’s lunch bag-”
“STICKERS!”
“GLITTER PENS?!”
“PUFFY PAINT!”
The girls shrieked, picking up the various brightly colored craft items Javi had brought home with him, along with a pack of brown paper bags, making the reason for his pit stop abundantly clear, and making you smile even wider than you already were.
“...I figured, I still have 4 days of lunches left, and you guys did such a good job with my lunch today, that you could decorate the rest of my lunch bags for the week.”
“Really?!” The girls squealed, their faces lighting up in excitement.
“Really, really.” Javi beamed, reaching his arms around the girls to pick them up, the 3 laughing and squirming in pure joy, your heart bursting at the seams watching just how much Javi loved his little girls and the silliest, smallest things he would do just to make them smile.
“Mommy, can we start right now!? Please, please, pleaseeeeee?” Lucy begged, Elliot and Harper joining in with their silent plea of sweet puppy eyes.
“Let’s help Mommy with dinner and then we can-”
“It’s okay, I think spaghetti can wait a little longer.”

Posion Running Through My Veins | Part 2
Tumblr media
Well, here's part 2. Enjoy because it's gonna be a bumpy ride! Extra-long chapter - technically two chapters combined into one. Hope you like it
A lot is going on and I don't know how I'm gonna end things, but I don't need to think about that until the next part. Oh boi let's get angsty. This is a heavy Billy Hargrove chapter and also the reader is a singer and songwriter. Reader has written most of the original songs that Corroded Coffin play. It's a long one because I felt like rambling and spoiling you all since it will probably be a bit of a wait until the next update. I don't think three parts is going to be long enough.
I'm sorry it's so bad but I needed something to fill between the last chapter and the gig on Friday. It's not kicking off yet but it's going to. I'm so sorry for the angst.

Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
"Hi Billy."
He let go of your waist and gave you a boyish grin. It was playful and soft. Not many people saw this side to him. Especially after everything that went down.
You breathe an exhausted sigh. This really isn't what you needed right now after the fight. Your emotions still tight inside your chest. Feeling like you were about to spill over at any second.
You walked past him, hoping he'd get the hint that you wanted to be alone. No such luck. Instead, he kept up pace beside you. Eyes trained on you, your face and you saw him frown slightly at the sight of your other hand trying to cover up the bruise on your wrist that was starting to turn black and purple.
"You finally moved out, huh?" he finally asked. It was phrased as a question, but it felt more like a statement. A reflection on what he had missed while he had been under treatment. Maybe he had heard from Max that you had moved out into your own trailer. Maybe they had driven passed your uncle's house, since it was on the way to the trailer park. Or maybe Billy just knew that after everything that went down last summer, you had to get your life sorted and do what was best for you.
"I... yeah" you stumbled over your words. Exhaustion and pain on your shoulders and you were still winded by the swirl of emotions you had felt in the past few hours.
Billy held you gently by the shoulder, noticing the way you bit your lip at discomfort, before dropping his hand. He stopped in front of you. You were now far enough away from Eddie's trailer that you could start to breathe properly again. You looked back and saw the lights still on.
When you turned back to Billy, the bad boy appearance had temporarily dropped, and he pulled out a packet of cigarettes. He took one out and slotted it in his mouth, then offered you the packet. "I still don't smoke" you said, looking up at him, a twinkle in your eyes.
"I know." His smile was so goofy and friendly that the cigarette almost fell out of his mouth. Words no one else wouldeverhave the guts to describe Billy Hargrove as. His smile grew as you took one out of the packet without another word, a small smile creeping onto your face.
He reached into his back pocket for his lighter. Black covered with doodles of hot pink flames. "I cannot believe you still have it" you raised your eyebrows at him as you leant towards him to light your cigarette. He cupped his hands around the tip to ensure it was lit. He shrugged, not giving you the satisfaction of an answer as he lit his own. Chuckling, you took a long drag of the cigarette. Coughing slightly as the smoke filled your lungs. "Damn I have not done this in a while" you managed to splutter out, choosing to completely ignore the look of pure amusement on Billy's face.
Both of you sit on the table of the wooden bench just outside your trailer. You breathed deeply. The peaceful silence settling in as the stars started to wake up and take their spotlight next to the moon. This was something you had missed. You loved Eddie with everything you had but every moment with him was loud or talkative. You never had a moment where you could just sit together and be comfortable in each other's silence. But then equally, you couldn't as easily talk about things with Billy. It was always a struggle for him to reveal his true emotions. Even with Neil gone, so much had happened last summer. The things he had done, the things that had happened to him. You knew him opening up would be even rarer than before.
"Your boyfriend give you those bruises?" Billy asked, staring straight ahead of him. Of course he noticed you inwardly groaned to yourself.
"He's not usually like this. We just had a bad fight, that's all." You took another long drag, watching the embers of your cigarette butt float off into the air. Looking down at your wrist you gently smoothed over the bruise, sucking in a sharp breath when you did. It was worse than you had thought. Muttering a "fuck" under your breath, you blinked sharply trying to ignore the pain. Your hand shivering slightly as you brought the cigarette to your lips. You didn't want to even think about the bruise Eddie had, in fairness probably accidently, left on your shoulder from the parking lot.
"Was it about me?" he asked, still staring ahead. Eyes unwavering from wherever he was looking. You couldn't read his emotion from the side. If your brain hadn't been so tired, maybe you would have spotted the direction the conversation was going in. Biting your lip, you had no reason to lie to him. But at the same time the emotions you through you had calmed down, threatened to spill over once again. When you said nothing, he just nodded and let out a deep sigh. "He gets like this a lot when he gets mad?" Billy had a way of making his questions sound more like statements of fact. It made it difficult to argue with him, but it also made you face the ugly truth quicker.
"No, he's not like this usually. It's his dad he-" you cut yourself off, not wishing to tell Billy Eddie's trauma just like that. It wasn't your place. "He just lost his temper alright." Standing up you took the cigarette out of your mouth and stamped it out on the ground, ready to leave this conversation. Running away again you heard your voice inside your head, how typical. Shaking your head slightly you pushed the thoughts to the back of your mind.
"Doll" you let him take hold of your non-bruised wrist. Not with the same painful grip Eddie had had on you, but something gentler, still firm. "You and I both know that shitty fathers aren'tan excuse" he looked at you, his icy blue eyes staring into yours.
The unwavering eye contact between someone you know wasn't going to back down, made you finally crack. The first tear fell down and then then the second, and then before you knew it you were crying your eyes out in front of your ex-boyfriend Billy Hargrove. You allowed yourself to lean into his touch as he held you like he did before in the parking lot. Except this time with him sitting down on the bench still, so you could lean into his neck and let him engulf you into a tighter hug.
You stayed their crying silently. The fear from the car ride, the flashbacks of Eddie yelling at you and hitting the steering wheel, the pain on your wrist and the feeling of being trapped. It was all too much for you to keep locked away. Even after everything that had happened to you with the Upside Down, almost losing your ex-boyfriend and the fear of it all coming back again. You thought you could handle relationship drama. You certainly could handle everyone else's, even Steve who was trying to date every single girl in the state.
"I'm sorry" your muffled apology, while Billy just held you. He didn't say anything, he didn't need to. He was better at showing his emotions through actions rather than words. He shushed you gently as you kept trying to apologise as you tried to silence your sobs.
You eventually pushed against him, pulling yourself up and out of the hug. You were about to apologise again, but Billy got up from the bench and put his hand on your chin. His thumb gently grazed your lips, in a gentle attempt to stop the apology from escaping. It fucking worked because it took you a heartbeat longer than necessary for your brain to start working again.
"You need sleep, my girl" he let his hold on your chin linger for a little longer and then added, "And if he hurts you again, you let me know" this time his eyes were serious. You looked at him eyes wide, "I won't hurt him, not until he does it after the warning" he smiled at the end and so did you. Part of you thought he was joking but deep down you knew Billy would kill Eddie if things got too out of hand. He was gentler after everything that had gone down, more in control of his actions. But he still had a long way to go. You knew that more than anyone.
You wiped your eyes and smiled a goodbye as you headed into your trailer. Looking back to give him a small barely audible, "See you tomorrow" something that you usually said to Eddie if you couldn't spend the night at his. You didn't think much of it, Billy knew what you meant, and you went inside and locked up. Ready to have a long night sleep, drained from crying and the emotional rollercoaster you'd been on today.
He lit another cigarette with the black and pink lighter and blew smoke up in the air as he stared directly at the trailer you had come from, the lights still on, a figure in the window. Billy smirked and got in his severely beat up car, it roared as he drove away.
Looking out your window one last time as you heard the car speed off, the lights in Eddie's trailer now off.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning your head felt heavy, like a hangover or a migraine. The only thing pulling you into the present reminding you that the blur of events yesterday wasn't a fever dream was the smell of smoke on your clothes that you slept in, and the bruises still left on your wrist.
The fight and the words that Eddie has said. rushing back to you but you pushed them down. Not having another mental breakdown, you thought to yourself.
You decided doing the only thing you wanted to do after the fight was to write them all down and maybe turn them into a song. At first, you didn't know what to write. You wanted to do a solo gig or maybe join forces with Robin and Steve on stage, but you hadn't gotten around to figuring it all out. Plus, you didn't know how Eddie would feel about being in two bands, and you definitely didn't want to ask him about it right now.
Maybe after Friday?
Tuning your guitar, you realised you still hadn't called Eddie last night when you had gotten in, and he hadn't called you. "Well, whatever" you muttered to yourself, "he can sweat it a bit after yesterday." It's what he deserved you thought to yourself, but you didn't say it out loud. It felt too mean.
The words starting to flow onto the page and suddenly you were putting chords to paper, playing it and then reworking it with the song.
You grimaced as you looked at the time and realised that you had already missed first period. "Fuck!" You groaned shoving your notebook into your bag and your guitar into its case. This was gonna be a fucking awkward day and there was no getting around it. Looking at the sky, it was thankfully overcast which meant you could wear long sleeves, and no one would notice. Well actually...you thought to yourself before you smacked yourself into gear and shoved a fresh band t-shirt on and the jeans you were wearing yesterday. Shoving your shoes into your docs you darted out to your car.
Locking the door behind you, you heard a roar of a car engine behind you. You saw Billy in his torn up black car, with somehow a working engine. You hesitated. With his driving you could get to school and not miss too much of second period but at the same time if Eddie saw you pull up... It could get ugly. You looked behind his car and saw that Eddie's van was already gone so you couldn't have asked him for a lift even if it had crossed your mind.
But the decision had been made for you when you realised if you were late another time the school would call your folks andthatwas a situation you did not want.
Billy saw you hesitating at your door and the engine roared louder, as if an invitation to get in.
You gently put your guitar in first and then yourself, sitting your backpack on your lap. "Someone's eager to get to school, or maybe you just missed me so much since yesterday." He winked at you, and you just scowled. You were really not a morning person, and you didn't want to give hm the satisfaction of a response.
"Billy just fucking drive" you rolled your eyes and fastened your seatbelt. Billy just nodded and drove, like a fucking maniac, but you were right. You did get into school before the end of second period.
The drive was silent, you were thankful for that, after the last one didn't go so well. You didn't even ask if Max had already gotten to school, you hoped you hadn't just pinched her ride without even thinking of her.
When you got out the car you gave Billy a quick "Thanks!" Before you dashed in, really hoping that not too many people clocked that you had just gotten a lift to school by the Billy Hargrove.
Making it to second period, thankfully it was music so you, Robin and Steve could do fuck all and sit in one of the little music rooms and just chill. The teacher seemed confused that you had brought your own guitar with you but then couldn't be bothered to ask why so let you three go without a word. "I want to see you perform your creation at the end though!" Mr Bradley called after the three of you basically ran to one of the tiny music rooms.
"Can I copy your notes from Chemistry? I slept in" You asked the room, but it was for Robin. You knew Steve was going to ask the same thing because even though he had been there, he was focusing on other things.
"Only if you have a song that you can perform at the end of this class. Because I am not having Mr Bradley fucking harass me after band with 'when are you going to perform the song you've been working on for weeks' okay? I'm not going through that again." Steve walked over with his tambourine ready and your guitar on your lap and Robin being the musical genius she was able to play the everything.
Reaching into your notebook you pulled out the song you were writing. "Yeah, I have a few things" you said, flicking through the pages. A lot of the ones before the one you were writing this morning were mostly for Corroded Coffin, the one this morning was laced with pain and all the emotions you were trying to get rid of. You saw Steve trying to peak over at the words, but you held the book tighter to your chest. Giving you a confused look, since you were never too secretive with these two about what you were writing, you gave a half-hearted excuse of, "It's not completely finished yet."
"Can I tambourine to it though?" Steve here asking the important questions. You nodded before checking back to read over your rush of notes and then gave a hand gesture equivalent to 'I'm not sure?' "I'll just have to incorporate my genius another way then." He moved his hair with his hand dramatically and you chuckled. You could always trust Steve to lighten the mood.
You knew he was trying to cheer you up. Since neither of them had heard from you after you got into Eddie's van yesterday, they assumed it wasn't good. You knew Steve was trying to dance around the question. But Robin wouldn't be able to hold it in for much longer.
And like clockwork, "So what happened last night?" Robin asked. You shrugged, not really wanting to get into it now since you had only just started to feel better. The negative emotions that had finally started to escape you were now slowly burrowing their way back in.
"Hey, what happened? I know that Billy dropped Max off at the trailer park. Did he see you? What's wrong?" Robin further pressed. You knew she wasn't trying to pry; she was just worried about you. You let out a small 'ow' when she placed her hand on your wrist, attempting to comfort you. Shrinking away when she heard your small noise of pain.
"Show me" Steve said instantly, in his parent tone. You knew there was no arguing around this one. You reluctantly pulled up your sleeve to reveal the purple, green and black bruise bound around your wrist. You heard Robin gasp and Steve looked like he was ready to kill someone with the tambourine he was holding.
"Who did this to you?" Steve was standing, pacing around the small room. You shook your head. You really didn't want to talk about this right now. All of the pain and worry seeping back into your mind that you had tried to push away, to write away, it was now coming back. "Wait you said Billy was at the trailer park, right?" He looked at Robin and Robin was wide eye. You continued to shake your head, but Steve ignored it. "You can't defend him forever y/n! He's a dangerous guy! You saw what he did to all those people last summer!" Steve went for the door, and you blocked him instantly. Putting your hands up to try and calm him down. Robin looking in-between you two, clearly struggling with what she should do. "He's dangerous, and he's not going to change! Look at what he did to you!" Steve was now practically yelling, and you were trying desperately to quieten him. "The first thing he does when he gets out of hospital is to try and drive a wedge in your new relationship and physically hurts you." Steve finally put down the tambourine. "I won't stand for it. You don't deserve that." His voice lower but still firm and seething with disappointment and disgust.
He pulled out his car keys and gently tried to remove you from in front of the door. You, still shaking your head, trying to form words in your mouth but all that came out were panicked breaths. "Steve calm down, this isn't helping" Robin pushed Steve out the way and put her hands on your arms. "Look at me, tell me what's wrong. We just want to know what happened." She could see that you were physically trying to stop yourself from shaking, on the verge of a mental breakdown.
You let out a strangled sob as you looked into Robin's eyes. You looked to Steve, seeing the anger was gone he was more concerned for you. Then in a very small voice you managed to stutter out, "It was Eddie" and then you buried your face into your hands.
Robin pulled you into a hug and let you cry into her.  She looked at Steve and mouthed 'Eddie?' and Steve nodded. Both of them stunned by the fact that it had been Eddie to injure you like this, not the only guy to match and overpower Steve in a fight.
With no malice, but firmly enough you wiped your tears and your snotty nose on your sleeves, pushing away from Robin. Proceeding to sit back down on the chair you had been previously. You put your guitar on your lap and pulled out your pen and notebook. "Please, can we just focus on music right now. I don't wanna discuss this anymore."
You refused to look at them both and eyes planted on the lyrics you had written this morning, more of them coming to mind. Steve was the first one to pick up his tambourine and went, "So what am I doing again?" and let out his best warm smile. You returned it, yours a little sadder as you strummed your guitar absentmindedly.
Robin carefully sat down on the table behind you, managing to sneak a glance at the words written in your notebook whilst you weren't looking. "We got 15 minutes left and then we are gonna rock Mr Bradley's world!" she said it with a forced laugh. The negative feelings crushing under the weight of Steve and Robin's attempts to abide by your wishes and just have a good time. You loved them with all your heart.
"So, I was thinking if you harmonise with me on this note-"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You ended up telling Mr Bradley that you would perform the song at lunch time, since you needed a little longer to rehearse and perfect it. It was really because you had a free period before lunch and Steve was making both of you laugh at his tambourine slapping hip swaying additions to his performance. Sometimes it felt good to just pretend to be regular teens at school, take a break from the reality of everything.
You knew performing at lunch time would mean that you would miss seeing Eddie, since you had no classes that overlapped today. But honestly? That's what you needed right now. A bit of space. Collect your thoughts and focus on your music.
You checked the tuning on your guitar one last time before double checking everything was fine with the instruments. Your anxiety getting the better of you and you just needed one thing to go right today. You could see the people start to gather for lunch time. You wondered if Eddie was already there waiting for you at their signature lunch table.
Shaking your head like an etch-a-sketch, pushing the only important thing to the front of your mind: Robin was on keyboard, bass guitar and backing vocals, Steve was on tambourine, backing vocals and gonna do a cheeky little razzle dazzle. Leaving you on your acoustic guitar and adjusting your mic.
"Well, I'm waiting" Mr Bradley said down below in one of the audience chairs, with a clip board. You sucked in your breath and looked at Robin and Steve. Counting yourself in. Just before you were about to start playing you saw the hellfire kids get to the table. You paused, knowing that Eddie would be on his way soon. Taking a deep exhale, you started playing and Robin and Steve followed suit.
"Clear blue water, high tides came and brought you in" you started singing, your voice wobbly at first until after a couple of beats it sounded more confident, still quiet. You pushed your nerves down. Even after performing at The Hideout so many times in front of your friends and the odd regulars, your anxiety always heated up on stage. It's just me and my friends performing a song in my bedroom was all you thought to yourself as you continued through the verse.
"Skies grew darker, currents swept you out again." you breathed a sigh, "and you were just gone and gone." It felt and sounded so therapeutic to listen to the words you had written down in your state of turmoil and have them sung back to you in a calming, melodic way.
"In silent screams and wildest dreams, I never dreamed of this" you felt the pull on your heart strings as you sang.
It was still only you on the guitar and occasionally Steve's tambourine to keep you in beat. you took a deep breath, ready for the chorus:
"This love is good; this love is bad. This love is alive back from dead, oh" Robin's keyboard joining you with the vocals and it suddenly sounded so beautiful. You never would have guessed that all of this pain could create such a beautiful song.
"These hands had to let it go free and, this love came back to me, oh"
At the exact moment you sung that line, Robin saw Eddie stroll into the cafeteria. She made no indication to you, but she glanced over to Steve, and he gave a subtle nod understanding. Thankfully you were still buried with the music, just focusing on the mic and playing, nothing else.
Then the second verse began:
"Tossing, turning. Struggling through the night with someone new" and if you had been paying attention it was that exact moment that Eddie clocked that you were performing on stage with Steve and Robin. Steve tried to keep his expression calm, but he noticed Robin almost missing her note on that line.
"In losing grip, on sinking ships. You showed up just in time." You now allowed yourself to get louder, ignoring the bustle of the cafeteria and as it got noisier. You just let yourself sing. Allowing those emotions to flow through and out of you and into this song. Unbeknownst to you, Max came and sat in one of the chairs behind your music teacher with her lunch, shortly followed by El, and then the rest of the hellfire kids. An unreadable expression on all of their faces. Finally, Dustin made his way over and sat next to Max. He looked heavily concerned and kept making sharp eye contact with Steve.
You changed up the chorus after the second verse randomly, almost catching Robin and Steve off guard.
"This love left a permanent mark. This love is glowing in the dark. These hands had to let it go free and, this love came back to me, oh."
You took a deep breath, preparing yourself for the bridge. It felt like you were confessing your feelings for the first time again. Sharing your darkest secrets. But if anyone asked you would say it was just a song and it held no meaning. Even though that wasn'tentirelythe truth.
"Your kiss. My cheek." You blushed but continued, "I watched, you leave. Your smile. My ghost. I fell to my knees." You almost faltered over that last word, but you powered on.
"When you're young, you just run. But you come back, to what you need." You sung that last note with all the power you could muster.
You continued on with the chorus, finishing on "this love came back to me, oh." Finally opening your eyes and allowing it to focus on the audience. You saw the kids all with their lunch on their laps. But your eyes landed on a fluffy haired individual who was leaning against the wall at the back. His eyes on you and you could see thoughts were ticking over in his mind.
Putting down your guitar, you noticed your music teacher looking pleased with your group. "Now that was worth the wait and all the excuses you kept throwing at me; however, I expect to see this kind of effort in every assignment I have for you three from now on." He got up and you saw on his clipboard he had given you all As for this assignment. With that he left, and you could release a breath you didn't even know you were holding.
Sliding off the stage, you were about to head over to Max. Throughout the song she was watching you as if she were listening to all the lyrics properly. As if she knew something else.
But Steve caught your arm and nodded over at Eddie who was only a few steps in front of you now. "Hey sweetheart" he smiled, his usual warm and silly smile. As if all of yesterday evening, hadn't happened. You gave him a small smile back, not yet ready to forgive him fully. Not until the bruises had at least started to heal.
You thought he was about to apologies again or pull you aside and have a talk with you. But to your surprise, instead, "Let's get my superstar singer of a girlfriend some lunch." And gently put his arm round you, carefully avoiding the place where he had gripped you only 24 hours beforehand.
"Only if you're buying." You let him lead you away from the group back towards the cafeteria, which was now bustling with people.
Steve and Robin were having a mental conversation with each other behind you whilst this exchange was going down.
The hellfire kids, all got up with the remainder of their lunches and followed Eddie back to their usual table. Adam, Gareth and Jeff were probably sat there on their own wonderingwhere the helleveryone else was.
All except Max, you said something to Lucas, and walked over to the duo. Biting the inside of her cheek she glanced back at you, laughing about something that was happening between Eddie and Dustin. The red head turned back to Steve, clearly wanting to say something but was clearly struggling to put it into words.
"C'mon kid, spill" Steve said, placing his tambourine down and sitting on the edge of the stage. Robin also crouching down, to sit next to him.
"You won't tell y/n?" She asked. It was clear whatever she was about to say, it was to be strictly kept between the three of them.
"Yeah, pinkie promise or whatever" Steve said holding out his pinkie, as to which Robin and Max rolled their eyes. Only Robin indulged him in the pinkie pact seal. He gestured to Max to spill. The pact now sealed.
After looking at her shoes and messing with her headphones a little She took another look over her shoulder, double checking whoever she was worried about definitely wasn't there or at least out of earshot. She brought her voice into almost a whisper, leaning closer to Steve and Robin's faces.
"I saw her and Billy outside her trailer last night."

um 🕺 fic ideas ive had in my brain a while that i havent gotten around to writing,,, via progressively rougher doodles lol. ramblings about the story ideas under da cut
first is treycay fic ft trey + his friendship with rook and vil, and also recently i considered adding cay + his friendship with light/pop music club perspective too. idk we’ll see. but initially the concept was like rook n vil seeing cay/trey all close and cute and making some comment to trey after cater leaves that theyd be cute together. trey admits he tried asking cater out once before but was REJECTED!!! but thru the power of friendship and introspection and self growth or whatever, thats not where their story ends!!!!!!!!! i had an idea like it a lil while ago and then i had a DREAM ABOUT IT in a very similar sense so the ideas kinda merged. def wanna write it sometime i miss treycay so much OUGH. it would go a lot into the nature of their friendship and personalities and stuff. i have THOUGHTS and FEELINGS and OPINIONS about them. caters crying in the last shot but IT’S OK HES FINE THIS IS A HAPPY STORY!!! HAPPY ENDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
second one i had the idea for like, nearly if not a year ago lol. it would be a more ambitious one bc it would involve all the second years and im SCARED lol. specifically it’d be kalim centric in a kalisil story about kalim wanting to mend the broken relationship between a recently BROKEN UP JAMIAZU!!!!!! with the help of his good buddy classmate silver :) and also the other second years bc once they get together theyre all like “yea jamil and azul’s vibes have been horrendous ever since they broke up and it’s unbearable for everyone around them so we have to Do Something Right Now!!!” i think it was gonna involve kalim throwing a second year mixer party /scheming with the other second years , and he’d get extra help from silver and theyd grow all close n cute by the end..... but that one ive never thought out the details past the basic premise so thats largely why i havent written it.....[yet👀?]

You were relaxing in a bubble bath, watching Netflix on your iPad when the FaceTime feature popped up. It was from Embry. You made sure the foam covered everything before answering.
“Hey, Em.”
“Hey, (Y/N/N). Is now a bad time?”
“No, I’m just relaxing.”
Embry walked into Emily’s house where the rest of the pack also greeted you. He handed the phone to your brother and Bella while he went to the bathroom. You talked to Bella and Jake, who were finally out of the honeymoon phase, until Embry came back.
“How was the date with the trampoline guy?”
“Sean? It was alright. Don’t know if it’s gonna go anywhere but we’ve got a second date.”
“Well, one more date is better than no date?”
Embry nodded. “I think he’s a little uncomfortable that I’ve dated girls before.”
You rolled your eyes in annoyance for your friend. Embry seemed chill about it though so you let it go. It was fun talking to the pack. Edward peeked his head into the bathroom.
“I’m gonna try to hunt.”
“Wait,” you called to him, reaching out an arm, before he could leave. “I want cranberry juice.”
Edward pretended to be annoyed but brought you a cup of cranberry juice anyway.
“Thank you. Love you,” you said in a very high-pitched cutesy voice.
“Mmm hmm.” Edward leaned over to peck your lips.
“Are we sure (Y/N)’s the one who imprinted, you seem kind of whipped Edward,” Jacob joked while the rest of the pack laughed.
They weren’t around to see you and Edward’s interactions and weren’t used to seeing this non-stoic side to the Cullen boy. Edward ignored Jacob’s comment and left you to go hunt. You continued talking to the pack until your fingertips went all pruny. Hanging up, you got out of the bath and started to dry off. You had packed your suitcase but was told last minute from Alice that she added a few extra things in the front pocket.
You finally unzipped it to see lingerie. Very fancy lingerie. With the bed broken in the master bedroom, you and Edward switched to one of the guest rooms. When Edward came back, he was greeted by you in a thin (Y/F/C) chemise slip. You were laying on the end of the bed drawing doodles acting like you didn’t see him. Edward laid down on top of you, pressing into your backside.
“Those are pretty flowers,” he commented.
“Yep.”
“I don’t think I’ve seen these… pajamas before.” He picked at the smooth silk.
“It’s new. Speaking of pajamas, I’m sleepy.”
“Sleepy?” Edward asked before kissing the back of your neck. “Too sleepy for me, little wolf?”
You closed the drawing pad and Edward lifted up so you could turn around and face him. The intensity didn’t fade from the first time. Two supernatural beings, it was always going to be intense. Edward tried his hardest to avoid grabbing at the actual bed frame, not wanting to have to buy Carlisle and Esme a second new bed. Only a few pillows were damaged this time around.
You looked down slightly embarrassed when the cleaners came around. The man looked at the broken bed in horror while the woman just stared Edward down. He came up behind you from where you were sitting in the kitchen, resting his chin on your shoulder. You looked up at him, his gold eyes were very dark.
“When was the last time you ate?”
“The animals here are a lot harder to catch, they’re used to predators around. I got a few small things.”
“Not enough,” you pouted. “You need more, you should spend tomorrow out there.”
Edward looked down and pressed his forehead against yours. “I’ll go out tomorrow, promise. What’ll you do while I’m gone?”
“Hmm, the island’s pretty, maybe do some painting. I’ve always wanted to try watercolor.”
You were about to say something else when you heard the two cleaners arguing. You wished you understood what they were saying but Portuguese wasn’t a language you knew. Edward though, knew multiple. But it wasn’t the words coming out of the cleaners mouths that were interesting, it was the thoughts especially from the female cleaner.
“She doesn’t like me very much,” Edward whispered in your ear. “She thinks I’m going to kill you.”
You two watched as the cleaners left without saying a word, they wouldn’t even look at Edward on the way out.
“So they know?”
“The local people have their superstitions, some believe more than others.”
“I’m guessing that woman is one of them.”
Edward nodded. You walked away to put on some real clothes while Edward started up the boat. The docks were crowded when you got there, it was June after all. Edward looked kind of strange covered up when you were walking around pretty exposed but other tourists didn’t pay him any real attention.
You two had been busy exploring the nearby island, enjoying seeing other people.  While you loved the alone time with Ed, being from La Push you were used to people constantly being around. You sat at the restaurant eating barbecue when a random man came into the restaurant handing out flyers. You gladly took one from him, it was for an outdoor party at some restaurant/bar.
“Let’s go!”
“You like dancing?”
“You don’t?”
Edward shrugged. “It’s fine I guess, but if you want to let’s go.”
The party wasn’t until sundown, giving you enough time to roam the stores for a better outfit. It was a dance hall, you had to show up and show out. You had traveled to four different stores, not quite finding the dress you wanted. Edward already had his outfit; you were looking for an outfit with pizzazz.
The flyer said the music was dancehall and samba. You wanted tight but danceable— something to compliment the music. The fifth store was sent straight from Heaven. Everything you wanted was there, including a nice set of plain black open toed heels. Edward sat patiently in the waiting area of the fitting rooms. You stepped out in a full outfit sans makeup.
“This is it.”
You paid for the outfit and went back into the fitting room to put it on again, the store clerk was gracious enough to let you change into the romper there.
“Now we just need makeup and I’m set.”
Edward laughed. “You’re really going all out for this.”
“It’s a party, how can I not?”
The mall had a makeup counter as well. Since there weren’t any huge festivals, the makeup artist had an open schedule. He gladly gave you a soft glam except for the (Y/P/C) lipstick you requested. You hopped down from the chair.
“Sun’s going down, I think I’m ready for a party,” you said excitedly.
“Not quite ready.”
You looked at Edward slightly confused, he pulled a small box from his bag. He opened it revealing an anklet. It was gold like your pack anklet only instead of the pack tattoo, it was the Cullen crest flanked by two sapphires.
“Think of it like a promise ring, I would’ve gotten a real ring but…”
Edward wouldn’t finish the statement in front of the makeup artist, he didn’t have to finish it. A promise ring would get lost if you shifted, the anklet wouldn’t. Edward bent down and tied the anklet on you. Like the pack one, the anklet was slightly loose on your human form.
“Promise anklet,” you said.
“I promise to love you forever,” he said as he stood up.
“You need something of mine.” You looked at the two anklets. “I’ll get you a copy of the pack bracelet.”
“Are they going to be happy about that?”
“They’ll have to be, now let’s go. I don’t want to miss the good music.”
The restaurant was already jumping when you arrived. Not one to immediately jump into the scene, you got drinks and sat down at one of the small tables with Edward and enjoyed the crisp night air.
“Alright, I want all my bad girls on the floor. Show your man how you dutty wine!” The DJ announced, putting on CeCile’s “Hot Like We”.
You stood up very excited and joined the rest of the ladies on the dance floor. While you didn’t know your real parents, dancehall CDs were in a small box of your mom’s belongings. Billy and Jacob used to get so annoyed at you blasting the CDs every Saturday morning when you were younger. You had played it so much, they had the lyrics memorized.
Halfway through the song switched  as the DJ told all the people on the floor to bring their partners in. Edward shook his head fiercely as you tried to pull him to the floor but he eventually caved and very hesitantly followed. You tried not to laugh as he stood there stiffly.
“You dance like a prim white boy from the 1900s.”
Edward gave you a look. You grabbed his hands and placed them on your hips.
“Just sway with it, circle your hips.” You turned around in his arms so your back was against his chest.
“I can’t sway with it,” he said awkwardly.
“That’s not what the bedroom said last night. It’s just like that.”
He wasn’t half bad. Still stiff but Edward had loosened up a bit. You turned back around to face him as a new song came on. You smiled widely as Edward seemed to enjoy himself more.
When you got back to the house you were still hype from the party. It was like you were ten again. It was a good thing Isle Esme was a private island because dancehall music was being blasted through the house’s Bluetooth system. Your hips moved in time to the rhythm as you took off your makeup and threw on a big band tee for pajamas. Edward rolled his eyes as you tried to pull him away from cooking you a late night dinner and force him to dance again.
He was happy you enjoyed yourself but had firmly decided no more dancing. Your feet quickly fluttered around him. You soon gave up when Edward didn’t budge. You realized that your strength was no match against the vampire and he definitely let you pull him to the dance floor. Still dancing, you grabbed a water from the fridge and sat on the island counter watching the back of Edward as he finished the pasta bake and put it in the oven.
Edward turned to you. You reached out like a child beckoning for a hug; he obliged and stood in between your legs. You wrapped your arms around his torso.
“I had fun tonight.”
“It was fun,” Edward said stiffly.
“Thank you for trying.”
He chuckled as you started singing the lyrics to the music still blasting. Edward cut off your singing as he kissed you. You pulled away burying your head in his chest before looking up at him and kissing him again. Edward didn’t realize how much he needed to hunt until your lips were on his. The primal instinct was on tenfold. It was in the back of his mind, the need to taste his blood singer. The need to kill.
He kept kissing you hoping that like last time in the shower, it would calm him down. But nothing was working, the rational side of him was slowly disappearing as his eyes started losing any little bit of color they had turning completely black. Edward’s hands gripped you tightly, it was almost painful but not enough to alarm you— he was a vampire after all, you figured it was just his strength. His right hand pinned your thigh to the counter to stop you from going anywhere while his left hand worked its way into your hair. Edward smirked as your breathing quickened when his hand gripped your hair. It was a game, your scent was all he could focus on. You attempted to pull away from him but couldn’t before he caught your bottom lip between his teeth, making it bleed.
It sent him over the edge. Edward barely had any control and now it was all gone. He roughly pulled your hair, exposing your throat to him. If you had known what was going to happen you would’ve phased but you tasted the blood in your mouth too late and your speed was no match to Edward’s. His mouth was on your neck and he bit hard. He only came to his senses hearing you scream his name. Edward backed up abruptly, looking at you scared. You couldn’t say anything as you looked at the blood around his mouth, your blood.
“Edward are you al—”
Pain. Pain kicked in as your hand flew to your neck. Edward ran to get his phone returning in less than a second to the kitchen where he moved you from the counter to the floor. It wasn’t painful like when your ribs were broken. This pain was like fire but you couldn’t scream. Edward rocked you in his arms as he frantically mumbled for someone to pick up the phone, your body temperature was plummeting.
“Alice? Where’s Carlisle… Carlisle? I bit her. Shit, I bit her Carlisle, I don’t know what to do. She’s not human, Aro said the venom could kill her… (Y/N), no no don’t sleep baby please stay up.” Edward propped you up more.
“When did you bite her?” Carlisle asked.
“A minute ago, maybe two.”
“Her neck?”
“Yes.”
“Take her wrist in your mouth, you should be able to suck the venom out. I can’t think of anything else.”
Edward did as his adoptive father said. It took three bites to the wrist before you threw up on the kitchen floor. Edward finally calmed down as your body heat rose back up to wolf temp, the bite marks already closing up but scars had formed.
Edward used his vampire speed to clean up the kitchen and you. You were still sitting on the kitchen floor. He held your face in his hands for a moment, muttering apologies.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so so sorry. I need… I need to go.”
You grabbed at his wrist when he stood up. “No, Edward wait—”
“I don’t want to hurt you again.”
You watched as he ran out of the house. You didn’t bother chasing after him, Isle Esme was huge and like your races had proven you weren’t faster than him. That and you were dizzy. The playlist had stopped and the only sound was the ringing timer signaling the food was done. You crawled over to the oven, carefully taking out the pasta bake and sitting on the kitchen floor to eat it.

Everybody in Hellfire catches the same bug except Hellfire Mom. (She had her cootie shots before she started hanging out with a bunch of teenage boys. Good call, Hellfire Mom.) How's she going to take care of her little sheepies? I'm seeing a massive pot of homemade soup being divided into jars and delivered on doorsteps. (Bonus: If she catches it after the boys get better and she doesn't kill them all for getting her sick, how would they return the favor?)
i was really hoping someone would request something like this 🥰 sorry it took so long to finish! i wanted to make sure i included all the boys and i guess it’s kind of funny that it was requested the last time i was sick and i finish it the second time i get sick 😂

The last few days at school had made you feel a bit lonelier than normal. Sure, you still had Dustin and Mike and a few other people in your classes you could still talk to, but without your boys it just felt so much quieter.
You weren’t sure how, but they all had managed to catch the same bug at the same time, and had all been stuck at home in bed for the last couple of days while they tried to get better. Thank god they didn’t get you sick.
Fortunately enough, while they were stuck in their beds with fevers, they had a good friend who had planned on visiting them all. And of course you were bringing them all a little something you put together to help them feel better.
Each one of them had a little care package that you put together, complete with little things to keep them occupied while they were stuck in bed. Pedialyte to help keep them hydrated because you knew at least one of them would refuse to drink any water, cough drops in a different flavor for each of them and of course an extra package of the cherry ones for Gareth since he ate those like candy, and you had packaged them each a little jar of your homemade soup for them to heat up when they were feeling hungry. And of course you had also added in a few extras for them. A few snacks from the corner store, a book to help keep them occupied with something other than TV for a little bit, a box of tea to help with their sore throats and a bit of their congestion, ginger ale to help settle their stomachs a bit, a little stuffed animal to keep with them in bed so they had some company, and of course you had to be a bit of a bad guy and being their missed schoolwork with you. You’ll be damned if they think they’re using this as an excuse to get out of doing the things necessary to graduate.
But you wanted to give them each something a little special along with their care packages to show them that you really cared. A handwritten ‘get well’ note for them to read when they were feeling their worst, and on the envelope for each you had little scribbles and doodles all over it, with the words ‘Love you! Feel better soon <3’ right in the middle.
It was cheesy, but you knew they would appreciate it.
You carefully packed up everything into your car and headed out to give them all their care packages, starting out with Gareth who lived the closest to you.
You pulled into his driveway, giving his dad a wave as you saw him mowing the lawn out front. You parked and grabbed the little basket from your passenger seat and made your way up the front steps of their porch, seeing his mom in the kitchen as soon as you shut the door behind you,
“(y/n), it’s good to see you! Are you here for Gareth?” You nodded and smiled and she pointed to the stairs, “He’s up in his room, you go right on up.”
You quickly made your way upstairs and gently knocked on his bedroom door,
“Gare?”
“Come in!” He shouted to you, sounding a lot more tired than usual.
You slowly opened his door and smiled to him in bed, shutting the door behind you, and as soon as he saw you he smiled.
“How you feeling?”
“Like shit.” He said with a laugh.
You giggled and walked over to his bed, sitting on the edge while making sure you kept your space,
“Well i brought you something that might make you feel a bit better.”
You handed him the basket and he looked through everything with a tired smile,
“(y/n) you didn’t have to get me all this.”
“I know!” You reached a hand out to push back the curls from his face, “But i wanted to bring all you guys something since i knew you weren’t feeling too good. Anyone figure out what it was?”
“Nope. Grant thought it was his allergies at first but then all of us started to feel the same, we figured it’s just the seasons changing and all.”
“Well hopefully you’re not stuck in bed for much longer. I hope you like all the stuff i got for you!”
“Of course i do! This was really sweet of you (y/n), thank you.”
“Aww of course sweetheart,” You leaned over and gently kissed his forehead, “i hope you feel better soon. I should probably get going, i’ve got to bring the other guys their stuff too! Let me know if you’re feeling any better alright?”
He nodded and grabbed one of the boxes of tea from the basket, handing it to you as you stood up from his bed,
“I will. And when you get downstairs would you ask my mom to make some of this for me? Tea sounds really good right now.”
“Of course i will,” You smiled and kissed the top of his head once more before heading to his door, “make sure to read those chapters for english! You know you need to get your grade up.”
Gareth rolled his eyes and picked the book up off of his nightstand,
“Fine. But you have to promise not to nag me about it anymore.”
“Read the chapters and i won’t nag you.”
Gareth smiled and waved to you as you left his room, making your way back downstairs into the kitchen where his mother was still cleaning up from his sisters and their coloring books,
“Mrs. Emerson, Gareth asked if you would make him some of this tea i brought for him?”
“Of course!” She took the box from you with a smile, “Would you like some too?”
“Oh, no, i’m alright thank you. I was just about to head out and bring the rest of the guys their care packages too.”
“You’re a very good friend to have (y/n), they’re lucky to have someone like you around. Tell the boys they’re welcome to come over as soon as they’re better.”
“I will! It was good to see you!”
“You too dear, take care.”
You smiled and as you left you waved back to his dad before getting back into your car and making your way over to Grants house, your next stop.
As you pulled down his street you could see his dad and a few of his friends outside working on their motorcycles in the driveway, giving you a wave as they saw you.
You happily waved back as you parked your car in front of their house, grabbing Grants care package from the back and slamming your car door shut.
“Hey there little miss, how’ve you been?” His dad asked you as him and the guys made a path for you to walk around them and all their bikes, opening his arm up to give you a side hug as you walked past him and the rest of his friends.
“I’ve been good! Not feeling sick thank god, but i cant say the same for the rest of them.”
“Yeah, Grants been locked up in his room, you bring that for him?”
“I did! I made one for each of the guys, i figured they needed some cheering up while they’re at home.”
“Isn’t that sweet!” He said with a laugh, the rest of his friends agreeing, “Well he’s up in his room, you go right in.”
You smiled at his friends as you walked into their home through the garage door, finding his stepmom in their living room with a book in her hand as she was laid out on their sofa, one of her 70’s pop records playing softly in the background. As soon as she heard the garage door open, she greeted you with an excited smile,
“(y/n)! Sweetie it’s so wonderful to see you!” She set her book onto the coffee table and quickly ran up to hug you, “Is this for Grant? That is so sweet of you, did you need me to help you bring it up?”
“Oh no, i think i’ve got it, thank you though! And yes, it’s for Grant, i got all the guys a little care package since i know him and all the rest of them aren’t feeling too well.”
“Isn’t that nice! Well he’s upstairs in his room, you go right on up.”
You smiled and quickly went up the stairs, following the sound of groans and coughs to the door near the stairs.
You knocked gently before cracking the door open and peeking your head in,
“Grant? You feeling alright?”
You spotted him in bed, the TV on low volume as it looked like he had just woken up from a nap. He rubbed his eyes and turned, a smile tugging at his lips when he saw you,
“(y/n), what are you doing here? i’m sick, i don’t want you to catch anything.”
“I’ll be fine! If i didn’t get sick when you guys were around me i don’t think i’ll get sick now. I’ve got something for you.” You smiled and stepped forward, placing the little basket of things next to him in bed.
He looked through it and smiled happily at all the things you had packed up for him, but frowning as soon as he saw his missed schoolwork in the back,
“You really got my hopes up with all this nice stuff, you really expect me to get all these study guides finished?”
“If you want to go on the end of the year trip to Six Flags i sure do. You’ve been dying to go on it, just do it when you’re in bed or something, there’s 24 hours in a day and i’m sure you’ll find time for them.”
“Yeah, 24 hours but i’m asleep for 20 of those.”
You laughed to yourself at his stubbornness, fully expecting him to act upset over seeing his schoolwork, but of course you prepared him a little something extra.
You reached out and showed him the jar of soup you had made and his eyes lit up as he grabbed it from you.
“No fucking way, is that soup you made when Wayne was sick a few months ago?”
“Yep! I know how much you like it so i made you a little extra.”
“You’re the best (y/n).”
“I know!” You said with a smile, taking a few steps closer to him and leaning down to kiss the top of his head, “Did you want me to ask your stepmom to heat it up for you?”
“Would you mind?”
“Of course not! I’ll bring it down to her. I think i should get going too, i’ve already stopped at Gareths place so now i’ve just got Eddie and Jeff.”
He nodded and handed you the jar, settling himself back into bed as you approached his bedroom door,
“Get lots of rest ok? And you’ll call me if you’re feeling better?”
“I will, i promise.”
You smiled and waved to one another before you slowly shut his bedroom door, making sure to keep quiet as you stepped back downstairs, though the sound of his dad and his buddies leaving on their motorcycles didn’t do much to help.
His stepmom was changing out one of her records in the living room when she saw you step back down from the stairs, holding the jar in your hand,
“How’s he doing sweetheart?”
“He seems like he’s doing alright, but he’s been pretty sleepy,” You held out the jar of soup for her to take, “I made this to help him feel a bit better, he wanted to know if you’d heat it up for him?”
“Absolutely! How sweet of you to make this for him, are you going to stick around?”
“Oh i’d love to but i can’t, i made little care packages for each of the guys and i’ve still got Jeff and Eddie, it was good to see you though!”
“Good to see you too hon! When he’s feeling all better we’d love to have you and your family over for dinner again.”
“That sounds great! Cant wait until then.”
She gave you a kind wave as you left, slowly walking down the driveway and back to your car as you got yourself ready to head over to Jeff’s place.
The drives between houses thankfully weren’t long, but still it felt like the task had been taking a while to finish. You didn’t think much of it, a quick cough snapping you out of your train of thought as you pulled down Jeff’s street and spotted their long driveway.
You pulled in and noticed that only his sisters car had been in the driveway, parents must’ve been at work today.
You parked behind her car in the driveway, grabbing his package from the back and walking up the steps of his porch to ring the doorbell.
His sister answered and gave you a kind smile,
“Hey (y/n), you know Jeff is sick right?”
“I know, the rest of the guys are sick too,” You held up the package for her to see, “I made them all these little care packages to help them feel a bit better.”
“That’s awfully nice of you,” She opened the door for you to step inside and you kicked off your shoes at the door, “He should be in the basement, you know where it is. You know it surprises me how you’re able to stand all of them.” She said with a laugh.
“I mean, they’re just boys.” You shrugged, “It’s like having four idiot brothers that you have to babysit all the time. It sounds bad, but you get used to it after a while.”
“Oh god, i’ve just got the one, i can’t imagine three more.”
You laughed with one another before she went back to her movie in the living room. You found the basement door and slowly opened it, knocking on the wall before stepping down the last step.
“Jeff, you up?”
You saw him laid out on the couch, a pillow behind his head and a few blankets over him. He must’ve been the one to get the chills from being sick.
He turned his head and smiled as he saw you,
“Hey (y/n)! What are you doing here? I don’t want to get you sick.”
“Oh please, i’ll be fine!” You walked around the couch and held out the care package for him, “I brought you something, i figured it might help you feel a bit better.”
“No way! You didn’t have to do all this,” He smiled as he sat up and looked through the package, pulling out one of the boxes of cough drops and popping a few into his mouth, “Thanks, i really needed some of this stuff.”
“I’m just hoping all you guys feel better soon,” You moved your arm over your mouth as you coughed a few times, “you can’t imagine how boring it’s been at school without you guys.”
Jeff handed you the box of cough drops,
“Here, take one, let’s hope you’re not sick like the rest of us.”
You took a few and placed one in your mouth, the other ones going into the pocket of your jacket,
“Thanks, but i should be alright. I’ve already visited Gareth and Grant, i think it’s just a cough.”
“Yeah well better safe than sorry.”
“I guess you’re right,” You said with a shrug, “how you been feeling?”
“Freezing. I’ve had nonstop chills, i keep making my sister put blankets and socks in the dryer for me to help keep me warm but even with all these layers i’m still cold.”
“That sounds awful! Did you want me to get you another blanket or something?”
“Oh no, i’ll be alright for now,” He smiled and settled back into the couch, “I was actually about to take a nap before you came in, it might be a little easier with all these goodies.”
“Well then i should get going and let you take your nap, i’ve still got Eddie to visit.”
“Hopefully he’s not too bad, i think he’s got it the worst out of all of us.” He pulled the blankets back up over him and made himself comfortable on the couch he was laid out on, “Tell him i said ‘hey’ alright?”
“Of course! You want me to shut the light off?”
“Could you?”
“No problem,” You smiled and gave him a quick kiss on the head before going back to the stairs, “feel better sweetie.”
You shut the basement light off and made your way back upstairs, quietly shutting the door behind you and giving his sister a wave before heading back out to your car, ready to make your last stop at Eddie’s.
Before making your drive over, you coughed a few more times and felt your throat start to get a bit sore, but you just shrugged it off and placed another one of Jeff’s cough drops into your mouth. You couldn’t be sick. There was no way. It was just a cough.
You shook it off and made the short drive over to the trailer park, keeping your eye out for Eddie’s van parked out front. Once you spotted it, you smiled, knowing that Eddie was finally doing what he was told and staying home.
He had been the most stubborn about being sick, and he’d even shown up to school looking his worst before ever admitting he was sick. He was definitely the cause for the rest of the guys getting sick, but when Jeff said he had gotten the worst of it, it made you feel a bit bad for the stubborn boy.
You parked your car and grabbed the very last care package from the back, slowly walking up the stairs and opening the front door of the trailer. You knew Eddie always kept it unlocked when Wayne was at work.
“Eddie?” You called out for him as you shut the door behind you, looking around for him in the trailer but he was nowhere to be found.
You assumed he was in his bedroom until you heard the sounds of retching from the bathroom.
You set the care package onto the kitchen counter and quickly went to find Eddie, tapping on the bathroom door and waiting for his answer,
“Eddie, can i come in?”
You waited another moment to see if he would respond but when all you could hear was him retching once more and you opened the bathroom door, seeing him hunched over the toilet as he threw up once more,
“Oh, poor baby,” You shut the door behind you and sat next to him on the bathroom floor, holding his hair back for him with one hand and slowly rubbing his back with the other, “It’s ok, i got you.”
You groaned as you watched him cough and spit into the toilet one last time before reaching a hand up and flushing it. He sighed and coughed one more time before leaning his head up slowly and looking at you with a pained smile,
“Thanks.”
“Of course sweetie, here,” You let go of his hair and leaned over to the sink, grabbing the bottle of mouthwash for him, “get that taste out of your mouth.”
He took a swig and swished it through his cheeks before spitting it into the toilet and flushing once more, handing the bottle back to you. You placed it back onto the sink and stood up,
“All done?”
“I should be.” He slowly stood up from the tile floor and coughed a few more times.
“You get back into bed,” You open the bathroom door for him to step back into his bedroom as you made your way into the kitchen to grab his care package, “I’ve got a present for you.”
As you walked into his bedroom he had finished pulling the covers over himself and he smiled seeing the care package in your hands,
“Aww, i knew you liked me (y/n).”
“Oh please,” You smiled and rolled your eyes, handing the package to him, “all the guys got one, you just so happened to be the last.”
“You know i’m joking. Thanks, this was really nice of you.”
“I try. I figured you guys might need some cheering up after being like this for the last few days.” You sat on the end of his bed, making sure to keep your distance just to make sure your cough didn’t turn into anything worse than what it was.
He looked through the basket and took out the little stuffed teddy bear, setting it next to him in bed,
“And you brought me a friend too.”
“I figured it wasn’t too fun to be stuck all alone.”
“Got that right.”
You turned your head to cough once more, this time your chest starting to ache as you did so and Eddie could hear that it was uncomfortable for you,
“We didn’t get you sick too did we?”
“I hope not, i’d kill you guys if i got sick.” You stood up from his bed and leaned in towards him, pushing his bangs back and lightly kissing his forehead, “I think i’m going to head home, it’s been a long day taking all this stuff to you guys.”
“You definitely deserve some rest after dealing with all of us.”
You smiled and placed the last of your cough drops between your lips,
“You get some rest too. And you’ll let me know if you’re feeling any better right hon?”
“I will. Promise.”
You gave him a wave and closed the door to his bedroom, fishing your keys out of your pocket and getting yourself back into the drivers seat of your car.
As you turned the key in the ignition you started to feel a bit off. Definitely not how you felt when you left the house.
It wasn’t cold out, but you could feel a chill on the back of your neck. You hadn’t eaten too much that day but your stomach started to turn. It wasn’t until you felt your forehead start to heat up that you knew something was wrong.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You groaned as you looked at the temperature on the thermometer between your fingers.
101.3.
Ever since you had gotten home from bringing the boys their care packages, you knew you had gotten sick.
Fever, nausea, chills and heat flashes, congestion, dehydration. Of course they had given you all the worst parts of being sick.
Luckily you had everything you needed yo keep yourself occupied while you were stuck away in your room.
Lots of water, a comfy bed, plenty of blankets, and lots of books and movies to keep you entertained for as long as you needed. Not to mention this was the perfect time to catch up on some well deserved naps.
But it did get a bit lonely being stuck away from your friends.
They still called every day just to talk and catch up with you, Eddie even kept you on speaker during Hellfire so it was like you were there with them but it still wasn’t the same.
As you watched Gremlins for what felt like the sixth time that week, you heard a gentle knock at your bedroom door, and you smiled as you saw your boys peek into your room.
“It’s ok for us to come in right?” Grant asked.
“It is, you guys can come in.” You sat up in bed, your blankets still bundled up over your lap as they entered your room, each of them holding a little wrapped up present for you.
“Sorry for getting you sick.” Gareth said as he shut your door.
“It’s alright, don’t be sorry,” You giggled, “it was bound to happen eventually.”
“But we still feel bad about it.” Jeff approached you first, handing you the gift he was holding, “and we know you put a lot of time and effort into the stuff you gave us when we were sick, so we wanted to give you some stuff to help you while you’re sick.”
“Aww, that’s so sweet of you, thank you!” You placed the package into your lap and quickly unwrapped it, seeing that Jeff had gotten you a few bottles of your favorite color of gatorade, along with a few of your favorite snacks and some ginger tea to help your sore throat.
Grant was next, eagerly handing you your present. It was a bit heavier than you were expecting but once you opened it you could see why.
His stepmom had made you some of her own homemade soup and he had gotten you some ginger ale and lemon lime pop to help settle your stomach. Along with a few boxes of tissues and he had even rented you a few of your favorite movies from Family Video to give you some more variety than the same few things you’d been watching over and over again.
Eddie moved between the two of them to hand you your present, and in normal Eddie fashion, you saw little doodles all over the paper that surrounded your gift.
He had made you a few new cassettes to listen to while you were in bed, a couple packages of different flavor cough drops, and he had even gotten you a little stuffed animal of your own to keep you company while they were gone.
Gareth had the biggest gift for you, though you figured with how generous his family was, all of it definitely wasn’t from him.
Inside was a little container of his moms cookies that she knew you loved, and his younger sisters had even made you get well presents of their own. A few colored in pages from their coloring books and some homemade bracelets, which you thought was very sweet of them.
And you figured the rest was from Gareth, a bottle of pedialyte, and some horror books for when you wanted a break from your movies.
“Guys, you didn’t have to do all this for me.”
“Well you didn’t have to give us all that stuff when we were sick.” Eddie said with a smile.
“We really hope you get better soon (y/n),” Grant said from next to you, “to be honest it’s been pretty boring at lunch and during Hellfire without you there.”
“Aww you guys are so sweet to me.” You gathered up the presents from them and moved them next to your bed, making some room for you to spread out.
“We didn’t want to bother you for too long, we figured we’d stop by and give you your presents and then let you get some rest.” Jeff leaned over and gave you a kiss on the top of your head, “Feel better soon (y/n).” He has stepped back to let the other boys say their goodbyes.
“Let us know when you’re feeling better ok?” Gareth leaned over and gave you another kiss to your head and you nodded in response.
“We we’re gonna bring your homework but i guess you’re caught up on everything,” Grant leaned over to kiss your head, “I guess you just got lucky.”
You giggled,
“Yeah, sure.”
Eddie smiled and leaned down, giving you one last kiss on your forehead,
“Feel better sis.”
You smiled and waved at them as they left and shut your bedroom door quietly behind them.
You grabbed one of the movies Grant had brought for you and quickly popped it into your VHS player, climbing back into bed and getting yourself comfortable for another nap.
You were lucky to have friends that cared about you as much as you cared about them.
Even if they did act like your idiot brothers sometimes.
This is literally the first time ever ill do one of these after being tagged in ig bc i always forgot! anyways got tagged by @taketheringtolohac for a "9 people you want to get to know better" game!
Last Song: Sway - A Trak & AJ Christou ft. Duckwrth
i luv duckwrth and this song is super wavy someone come dance to it with me
youtube
Favorite color: Idk what to call it like a wine purple? this thang and similar shades
Tumblr media
i also rly like deep reds too. if u ever notice i accidentally tend to use mainly the red-blue portion of the color wheel in art and its not a concious decision either it just kinda happens and i try to steer away from it every once in a while and it never sticks.
Currently Watching: nothing rly!
it takes me forever to start watching things and get through them. The last series i finished I think were Witchblade and Link Click abt a month or so ago. I was also planning to watch yuri kuma sometime soon bc i remembered ppl posting about it but i never watched it while it was airing, as well as a rewatch of banana fish bc my brother brought it up bc he was using it as a topic for his paper recently????? i dont even know why he knows it but oh. well i guess. was also gonna watch mignon but the art style is getting me and my city hunter plans have been dashed by the sheer volume of episodes scaring me for now
Sweet/Spicy/Savory: i like them all!
not sure i rly prefer one over the others but i like to bake so maybe sweet. did you know my baking enemy is cookies idk what it is but if im making my own from scratch somehow they always turn out wrong. fav thing to bake is cinnamon rolls i just havent done any in a while bc they take so long (also bc i wanna do peach cobbler style cinnamon rolls which ive done before! but that takes extra long bc of the extra toppings you have to make)
Relationship Status: who want me
Tumblr media
Current Obsession: ok prefacing this with these r not good games and im gonna censor the names so they dont show up in tags
i got into some eroge gacha named wh*t in hell is bad back in october and it has not let up since. i filled an entire sketchbook almost w/ doodles of my mc. also replayed through nu c*rnival recently bc they added voice overs for almost the entire game for the second anniversary (ive been playing since maybe 3 months after its release). everything is on the backburner to me rn besides these games and maybe the everyday maintenance of shinozaki bc im thinking abt finishing it bc i love it. anyways forget abt those last two and look at shinozaki
Tumblr media
Last Thing You Searched: list of mythical weapons
this was not for anything important except that i rly wanna get a black cat and name it excalibur (nicknamed cali for short). however excalibur is exclusively for if i get the litte black kitty of my dreams but if i get a cat w/ another coat eventually i have to pick a different name so i was brainstorming.
i didnt think this was so long (/// ̄  ̄///)
anyways ill tag @meicheesecake @feluka @beepiiboop @nil-number @theunstablejester @luminousrabbittt @scamoosh @tilapiamafia and im forgetting names but if u wanna do one then tag ur it ☆〜(ゝ。∂ )
Fun facts about the extras!
First, the guys (and Akita and Wilana) were not originally apart of the plan. They were apart of my other stories that are currently in the works!
Second, Kiko and Hana were swapped. Kiko was supposed to date Syobai and Hana was supposed to date Mikado.
Third, Katsie was originally gonna be apart of DRA instead.
Fourth, Ryo’s original talent was a military marine. I switched it to a host as well as his personality.
Speaking of personalities, let me list their OG ones!
Kiko - a wolf in sheep’s clothing (seemed nice, was really shitty)
Katsie - hated reading, really shy
Hana - bubbly and energetic (like Kiko)
Emi, Ririka, and Natsu barely changed
Fifth, Emi was first created from a random Danganronpa sprite I made. Hana being second with a random doodle I made of her.
Sixth, Natsu was the last added and wasn’t gonna be in the group. Meaning, DRA’s story was just gonna include Ririka and Emi.
Also, here’s Katsie calling Nikei trash 😎
Tumblr media
Alright, that’s all I got for now.
Ngl I can’t imagine Hana and Mikado together or Kiko as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, but it’s a cool thought!
I’m curious who Katsie would have ended up with in the DRA cast! Why am I imagining Ryo as an emo marine-
Thanks for the fun facts! Rip Nikei tho
how the fuck do you infuse so much personality into your doodles. are you pulling a fnaf and putting human souls in them?? if so, could you tell me how to do it?
ok first off, THANK YOU? got me going teehee blink blink face. Didn't expect to have an art question but I'm very glad, it's my first one so I'll answer to the best I can!
When it comes to personality in drawings (assuming your talking about characters), I often like to think about my characters as friends or someone you know. Often times I'm just saying to myself, "OH! Character would definitely react like this or say this!" (like how you would say your friend would do something unique only to them in a silly situation) Stepping into you characters' shoes or viewing them as a buddy can help you apply and do a bunch!
Though I do understand that you can know a ton about a character but still struggle on what to apply to a drawing with them in it!
There are a few things I tend to do and add when it comes to drawings!
First off is expression, putting some extra thought into expressions can really help add more to your character. Especially pushing expression! (Won't go too deep with expression because that's a whole other can of beans)
Tumblr media
My silly goofy cat is a real happy and loud guy, so a simple smile won't always cut it! Really pushing that joy and loudness helps add more to him as a character!
Another thing you may have noticed in the drawing is how I added some (very silly looking) arms to the surface he was near! This moves on to the next thing I often do. Body language! (Which could also be seen as, gesture/posing)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Though relatively the same expression (note the eyes size difference makes the first doodle look more aware/awake, that just shows expression can change even with the slightest difference, this was accidental though), the change of the pose adds story to the character. The first drawing comes off as a more plain hello, while the second drawing adds more excitement and characterization to the goofy guy! As we see how he waves his hand quickly with joy while his left foot taps up with energy, most likely meeting up with a friend! All this movement also makes your characters look less stiff and lifeless.
I also like to add my own stylistic ways of movement or little reaction marks, I'm not too sure what to call them exactly tho (what I mean are the extra colored bits around the character below, they dont always need color though).
Tumblr media
This is just a nice way to add more flavor to a drawing! And you can always experiment, or mix and match to see what you like.
Another thing I do is try to imagine scenarios or scenes that would work well with what I have in mind. To get to that point I'm often writing it down or doing thumbnails and lil roughs before I actually make my sketches that I post (insider secrets right here!).
(Here's an example of my drafting process with poses and expressions for this ask I did a while ago, yes it is cursed so read at ur own cost❤ )
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing would be textures, you often see me switching colors and brushes, even software's as I draw! that's why every doodle feels a little different, which I feel helps give off different ideas and emotions (or laziness who knows).
Some other factors that play into the "personality" of my drawings is the reactions, with cause and effect. Which has actions that make a new reaction for each character (or even object) that is exaggerated. Like someone making a disgusted face to someone vomiting, even a cat knocking a cup over, or a cat getting scared by a glass breaking (this could also just be a continuation of the last statement). Possibly even the IRS coming for you after evading your taxes and you having to jump out the window.
Tumblr media
I mainly use this for comics! But you could do this in a single drawing, I like to have a moment kind of frozen in place either after or in the middle of an action (sorta lets your brain imagine the in-betweens). Though when it comes to exaggerating your reactions or causes, it takes some practice and imagination, so don't be discouraged if it takes some trial and error to get the hand of it! Honestly I'm still practicing too.
Other things that help me put some more life into my drawings is well... life itself! lots of interactions, faces, and poses are based on things I've seen in real life, from watching people (while in the bushes).
Tumblr media
Though that isn't the only thing! I also use what I see in media, or photos! even some shows and movies, since there are so many good scenes or frames that can be used as great inspiration!
lastly, yes I do put human souls in my drawings, as well as sacrifice some squirrels here and there to my Elmo shrine, but thats not tooo important right?
Summer of Strawberry Shortcake: Dress Up Days
This DVD strains the 'two episodes on a theme' conceit a bit, but both episodes are pretty good so I'll allow it. These episodes also mark Blueberry Muffin officially joining the main cast, and is unfortunately the debut of her catchphrase "Absoluuuutely" (as the script renders it), and I still cannot stop myself from physically cringing every time she says it. Hopefully that doesn't carry over to season three.
The first episode, The Play's the Thing, casts the characters in Cinderella, but with an added subplot about Strawberry's old raincoat that is frankly unnecessary. Still, there's some fun stuff, like Blueberry Muffin, Ginger Snap, and Orange Blossom breaking character to comfort Strawberry after they make her cry in the play, and the deadline being changed to 8 o'clock (since midnight would be past her bedtime). I note that the writers got around including Cola Chameleon with the other pets in the audience by having Peppermint Fizz be the coachman for the stepmother and stepsisters, but then neglected to include her in the bows at the end. And Honey Pie Pony's pet bee is there, too, but the pony herself wasn't included to pull the carriage? Granted, Honey Pie would have found a way to make it a speaking role, but still. Maybe Honey Doodle was just hanging out with Marmalade at the time, we don't know.
The second episode introduces Rainbow Sherbet, but it's Peppermint Fizz who makes this episode. Honestly, her contrarianism felt very refreshing, even if it is mostly just bluster. She also gets the best song of this DVD. There's just something about its frenetic pace that I like, I guess. I also like how Strawberry knows her well enough by now to include a contest in the party invitation.
A few notes from the script: when Peppermint Fizz is first confronted by Strawberry, her lines are initially defiant, but then change to (defiant, but waffling), and when she professes her contriteness to who she thinks is Strawberry, it's labeled as (sadly spills her guts).
As for special features, despite my prediction, character profiles did not return, and like last time there wasn't an extra music video.
Added my own touches to the lil guy, cause I love adding little details to my fictional kins for some weird reason.. Added freckles and the old-cartoony aesthetic cause I thought it'd be really cute.. Plus I like old cartoony stuff.. And a tiny bandage in the colorless doodle cause idfk...
Why not? Plus I wanted to add something else at the last second that I didn't get to include in the colored drawing. 😭
.....Also I messed up a bit on his hat in the colorless doodle but oh well tbh....,
Just now noticed that adding freckles to Shroomy makes him kinda Spongebob-coded......,, I'm mostly kidding XD
Since long time I looking for Fukuzawa´s material, I think deserves more atention. Can I have something where there is clear sexual tension between president-employee (preferably female, with glances, soft touches, blushes) adding some domination (consensual), please? If my request is too much, you can let it go, thank you!
˖˚˳⊹"ive needed to do that for so long"˖˚˳⊹
-Pairing: Fukuzawa x Fem!Reader
-wc: 0.5k
-warnings: slightly nsfw, co-workers to lovers, making out, unspoken confession.
-a/n: i absolutely loved writing this, i hope you enjoy! ♡
Tumblr media
running up the stairs, you swung the door open and entered the agency. fumbling for your phone, you quickly checked the time.
7:48am, 12 minutes early.
plopping your bag on a desk, you held the extra coffee in your hand and walked to fukuzawa's office.
this was something you did everyday. coming in a few minutes early and talking to fukuzawa with a cup of coffee.
knocking on his door, you opened it slightly and peeked in.. thats weird, he wasn't there.. usually he would come into work much earlier.
walking in, you were about to place his cup of coffee on the desk but instead glanced at his notepad.
there were hearts and little cats.. he doodles? thats so.. cute.
“aww that's so cute, i cant believe he doodles” you giggled
“well im there's alot you won't believe about me” he voiced out, making his presence known, leaning against the doorframe
caught off guard, you whipped your head towards him, “i didn't realise you were there-”
he chuckled softly and walked towards you, taking the cup of coffee from your hand, fingers slightly brushing against yours
he would always glance at you even when talking to others or ‘accidentally’ brush his fingers against yours. it wasn't anything new, but it always gave you goosebumps
your glanced at his face when he just held onto the cup instead of taking it from you and saw him already looking at you
“fukuzawa?” you called out to him but he simply maintained eye contact
getting flustered under his gaze, you tried to wave your hand infront of him but as you did, he took it in his hand, intertwining your fingers with his
taking the coffee with his other hand, he placed it on the table before swiftly kissing you
it took you a second to comprehend the situation and returned the kiss, placing your hand in his hair
he held your waist, his cold hands making you gasp softly. he leaned you back onto the desk slightly, deepening the kiss as you gripped onto his hair harder
with his hand still on your waist, you instinctively pulled him closer with your leg, making him groan into the kiss softly
he kissed you like it was the last time he would see you, making you feel lightheaded
as you pulled back for air, he followed your lips, still needing the warmth as he kissed you once more, less passionate but with equal love
when you both pulled back, desperate for air, he gave you one last peck as he leaned his forehead against yours, smiling “ive needed to do that for so long”
you broke out a smile too “oh really? I couldn't tell” you giggled softly
after that you both went about your day as usual with the same glances and accidental touches. the only difference being the glow on your faces because now you knew he was yours and he knew you were his.
Hello can I request where draco in fourth year having a crush on a hufflepuff reader but acts as arsehole cuz he doesn’t know how to show affection , leading it to her avoiding him which makes him depressed about what did he do wrong ?
Hi love. Thanks for the request.💕
I love writing Draco x hufflepuff!reader stories! I am a sucker for a slytherin x hufflepuff pairing.
I added a few extra details here and here. Hope you like it. X
Hopeful (Draco Malfoy x Hufflepuff!Reader)
Word count: 2100 sorry got a bit carried away. 😅
Warnings: None. Soft!Draco being an absolute blubbering idiot.
Draco’s thoughts are written in green
Tumblr media
Spring had arrived.
It could be felt in the cool and gentle zephyr that made the shiny new leaves on top of the once barren and dead trees rustle.
Daisies were in full bloom and the wind had managed to carry some of the petals away—making them fall to the ground, acting like a harbinger of the fast approaching summer.
Draco couldn’t be bothered if it was spring, or autumn or winter.
In that particular moment, all he wanted to do was get away from the Slytherin common room and Pansy Parkinson.
He had taken her to the Yule ball and things had sort of fizzled out afterwards. He couldn’t get himself to see her as anything other than a friend.
Having ran all the way to a far and secluded area of the Hogwarts grounds, Draco leaned against a tree trunk and panted heavily in an attempt to catch his breath.
“Are you—are you alright?”
Your voice startled him and he quickly stood up straight to look around.
You were sitting criss-crossed on the grass with your transfigurations textbook opened on your lap. Your shirt sleeves were rolled up and your yellow and black tie hugged very loosely around your neck.
“Fine.” He muttered as he slowly sat down noticing a single daisy tucked behind your ears.
After sitting there in complete silence for the next few minutes, he finally spoke up.
“What are you even doing here anyway?”
“Just wanted some peace and quiet to be honest.” You said, shrugging your shoulders. “It’s a beautiful day.”
Draco just hummed in response and kept staring at the daisy in your hair that swayed lightly with the breeze.
“What?” You asked when you noticed.
“You have—you have a twig stuck in your hair.”
“A daisy.” You corrected him as you closed your book and moved a bit closer to where he was sitting. “It’s a daisy.”
“Yeah I know that. I’m not stupid.” He said quickly. “But why?”
"Well, Daisies are essentially two flowers blended together in complete harmony." You said pulling the daisy out of your free falling hair before putting your hand forward to hand it to him.
“And?” Draco reluctantly took the flower from you and blinked his eyes in confusion.
“They are said to resemble innocence—true love even.”  You explained getting comfortable next to him.
“You believe in all that?” Draco scoffed, twirling the flower between his index finger and thumb. He couldn’t tell if the floral fragrance was coming from you or the air but it made him slightly queasy nonetheless.
“Merlin. No.” You scrunched up your nose. “It just gives me hope I guess.”
Draco gave you another hum in response. For someone who came up with snarky and sometimes witty comments on the spot, he found himself weirdly tongue tied.
“I know you were hiding from Pansy by the way.” You remarked, making a small smile pull at his lips.
“How come?”
“What do you mean how come?” You rolled your eyes. “Everyone can see that she is obsessed with you for some reason that I personally can't seem to comprehend.”
~~~~~
The next day during potions class, Draco slowly opened his book and started to absently doodle on it with his quill while Snape talked about the upcoming potions essay that had to be done in pairs.
Draco knew he should be paying attention but he just couldn’t get the interaction between you two out of his head.
And just when he took a deep breath and decided to focus, a familiar scent started to fill his lungs up.
Fruity, almost spicy notes of strawberry and pink grapefruit mixed with gardenias, vanilla and musk. It felt like someone had tossed a huge bouquet into the room.
He knew it was you without even bothering to look up from my book.
"Ah, Miss y/l/n. Late again." Snape muttered. “Five points from Hufflepuff house.”
You quietly sat down next to your friend with your head hung low and Draco fought an unexplainable urge to give you a hug.
"The essay must be done in pairs.." Snape said.
Great.
"Ronald Weasley and Gregory Goyle."
This is exactly what I needed right now. Thanks Snape.
"Blaise Zabini and Hannah Abott."
The last thing I need is someone weighing my essay down.
"Draco Malfoy and y/n y/l/n."
What?
You turned back to look at Draco and gave him  an apologetic smile and he didn't understand why you kept smiling at him. It's not like the both of you had suddenly formed an unlikely bond with each other.
Draco scowled at you in return and quickly raised his hand. "May I work on my essay alone?"
"No. You may not Mr. Malfoy."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You and Draco had been studying in the library for almost an hour. Because you were quietly sitting next to him, his elbows and knees slightly brushed yours every few seconds and as much as he hated to admit it, He secretly enjoyed it.
Contrary to yesterday, Draco was trying very hard to make a conversation with you. You seemed somewhat offended that he had asked Snape to work on the essay alone.
“I am happy to do most of the writing if you can look up all the ingredients.” You offered.
You don’t have to do all of that yourself. I am happy to help with the writing too. Is what he should have said.
“Fine whatever.” He said instead as he reached for a copy of One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.
That night, Draco stayed up tossing and turning in his bed before giving up on getting any sleep for the night.
He lethargically walked towards his dresser and put his hands in his blazer pocket pulling out the now dried and pressed daisy from the other day.
Taking a deep breath, he put the flower in between the pages of his copy of One Thousand Magical Herbs and Fungi.
You were drawing him in, undoing him, unraveling him even.
He knew that.
But did you?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Draco! Open up."
His head jolted towards the door and He quickly walked over to open it.
You stood on the other end with books tucked in your arms, wearing your denim shorts and a plain white tank top—looking like summer personified.
The more time he spent with you, the more he started to notice your quirks. Like that the way your skin glowed as the days got warmer.
Compliment her. Do it. It’s not Difficult.
“Did you do something different to your hair?”
“Uh—no why are you asking.”
“It just looks a bit strange.” He commented wanting to slap himself.
"Okay, well are you going to let me in?" You questioned, wondering why he was blocking the way and asking you about your hair.
Why did you have to wear that God damned tank top-
"Sorry?" You asked stepping inside making his cheeks burn when he realized he wasn’t meaning to say that out loud.
"Just shut up and get back to working in the essay or whatever it is that you were doing." Draco grumbled feeling embarrassed as he grabbed some fresh parchment.
Okay. Focus. The Strengthening solution requires...
You stretched a little and pushed your hair away from your face.
several days to mature...
"Staring is rude Draco." You suddenly interrupted his thoughts as you set your eyes on his—peering right into his soul.
Draco felt like he was giving you some sort of power over him and the possibility of you using that power and leaving him heartbroken made him feel so very vulnerable.
He couldn't take the vulnerability a second longer.
 "I don't think we should study together anymore." He blurted quickly standing up. “It's for the best.”
"Huh?" You stood up contorting your face in total confusion—wondering just what you had done to piss him off. "What's wrong Draco? Did I do something wrong?"
"Leave. Now." He muttered with his teeth clenched.
Please don’t go.
"Just go—leave please."
You couldn’t help but feel a sharp sting burning your insides as you gathered all the books that were on the floor and ran made your way towards hufflepuff dormitories with tears threatening to flood your eyes.
As soon as you ran off, he punched his wall and muttered out the plethora of angry curses when the impact bruised his knuckles.
~~~~~~~~~~~
During the following week, Draco failed to show up to any of your shared classes after you had refused to talk to him after what happened.
Even if you did manage to see him walking down the halls or walking with Crabbe and Goyle, you noticed that he looked like he hadn’t eaten or slept in days.
On a Tuesday, Draco looked at the Hufflepuff table during breakfast and when you caught his eye, all you did was look away.
Everyone at school had their opinions about him—most of them weren’t good opinions.
But when you were with him under that tree, he seemed different. His smirk was more playful than condescending. It managed to charm you in a way.
You took a final bite of your toast and gathered all your books, walking to your Potions class.
His seat still remained empty and you shook your head, trying to snap away from the thoughts of him as you flipped open your book.
Only it wasn’t your book.
You didn’t remember writing on the margins and making annotations on your book.
Running your fingertips along the pages, you flipped to the very first page of the book.
D. Malfoy was written in ridiculously neat handwriting and you shook your head when you realized that you had grabbed his book with you that day by mistake.
And just when you were about to put his book away, something fell from in between the pages and fell onto your desk.
It was the daisy you had woven into your hair the other day. Even in its dried state, the petals remained intact like her had done something to keep them that way.
When class was finally over, you made a quick beeline towards the slytherin dungeons, bumping into people along the way.
~~~~~~~~~
“Some hufflepuff girl is standing outside the dungeons asking to see you.” Theo shrugged when he saw Draco at the common room sofa. “Says it's urgent.”
He felt terrified yet so elated as he quickly stood up and made his way outside.
“Here’s your book.” You said taking a step towards him. “You never told me what’s wrong by the way.”
“Thank you.” Draco quickly took his book from you and stared at the ground.
“Why did you stop talking to me y/n?”
“You told me to go away—If I remember correctly.” You said shaking your head at him. “Tell me Draco, what’s wrong?”
“Everything.” He said quietly, meeting your gaze.
"What do you mean?"
"You make me feel all weak.....and smiley...and I hate it." He looked at you with agitation.
"Weak?" You ran your  fingers through your hair in confusion.
"And your ridiculous white tank top." Draco half yelled.
"What's wrong with my top?" You asked, raising your voice slightly as if you had had enough of this.
"Nothing is wrong except for the fact that you look stunning in it.” He blurted involuntarily. "It is absolutely distracting when one is trying to study!."
He watched you open your mouth in shock and close it. Before he could spend another minute trying to solve the riddle that was your expression, you grabbed him by his tie and placed your lips on his.
His brows furrowed as he kissed you back tenderly. Tasting the sweetness of your lips—pouring out every bit of suppressed passion and adoration he felt for you with his lips.
There was something so strange and euphoric about finally kissing someone he had been longing to kiss for so long.
Something so magical about holding the person that fits perfectly into his arms.
Freaking Finally.
He was slightly disappointed when you slowly backed away, but the glow on your skin and the glossy ness in your eyes made him smile.
"I guess I'll leave before I realize the consequences of what I have just done." You said softly as you held his face and placed a small peck on his lips.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, you found a tiny box and an envelope on your desk when you woke up. Your roommate let you know that Draco Malfoy had stopped by late last night when you were asleep and half begged and half threatened her to leave the box on your desk.
You slowly opened the box and found a bedazzled and whimsical looking daisy necklace, encrusted with gems.
A Daisy for my daisy.
You give me hope.
