There's this fly that's been flying around me for about half an hour now and a little while ago I asked it to touch me if it was sent by a deity and it did then walk away and just now it landed on my hand. I've heard that Zues is associated with flies and there was just a little rain storm earlier.

The Gods' myths sometimes include horrific or immoral aspects. That doesn't mean we should behave as if those myths dont exist!
(A Pagan perspective)
Tumblr media
(tw: sa, misogyny)
When we are faced with myths that no longer fit in modern moral views (such as so much SA in Greek mythology alone there's a whole Wikipedia page on it) we should not shy away! Even if we don't like or approve of it, it's a part of the Gods' history and mythos.
All mythology is written by humans, and as such is unavoidably a product of its time. The way that anyone (including modern pagans) interprets the Gods as entities, or any interaction with them, is limited within our own culture, time period, and personal beliefs. By examining both the beliefs of the present and the past, we can decide for ourselves how we see the Gods while considering the context their myths were written in.
Even within one time period or similar group of people, such as modern pagans today, interpretations of the Gods can vary widely.
Zues is a cheating rapist. He is also a powerful god of the skies, lightning, and order.
Lucifer is literally the devil. An evil liar full of sins. And yet he is enlightening, independent, and honest.
Freyja is constantly associated (some say reduced) to sex. She uses her body for her gain, and is quite canonically called a slut. At the same time, she's the goddess of women! Of female power, both in mental skill and physical strength. She leads the Valkyries.
Loki is dark and deceptive, bringer of Ragnarok-- and he's a deity of change and freedom.
And neither is wrong. In mythology, both are true.
The Gods, all their aspects, and all the texts we have of them are complicated, complex, multifaceted, and interpretive- of course, there will be various understandings within pagan practices. No one view is superior to the other. Our understandings all exist on a scale, or rather some sort of mashup, of how important and what importance we attribute to various myths and aspects of deities.
When I worshipped Hera, I did so in two 'versions'. 1. Hera as resistance against men and abuse. I found solace and connection with her in powerful womanhood and female rage. I prayed to her before attending a pro-choice rally. And 2. Hera as a symbol of deep love, power, and marriage, and commitment. I lit her candle when my partner was over or when I needed a confidence boost.
These aspects never felt conflicting to me. Separate, maybe (I certainly wasn't thinking of any cheating or abuse in mythology as overlapping with the love and commitment)- but just part of one THING. Of Hera and everything surrounding her.
To many other deities of various 'immoral' aspects, these conflicting elements aren't just both present but often integral to their presence and worship.
Lucifer is often worshipped in rebellion. In healing from oppressive Christianity and finding light and understanding in that darkness.
Freyja is sexual! One of her many aspects. (which by the way, should not be seen as immoral. looking at yall, bs tumblr feminists) There is pleasure, joy, and power to be found in reclaiming that part of women we are told is shameful.
Loki is so much at once. He is outcast and destructive, and within that he spurs necessary change and chaos. So many pagans look to her as a symbol of queerness in the broadest sense and in facing the necessary chaos of growth.
TLDR: Don't just ignore aspects of mythology that feel uncomfortable (obviously unless something like trauma is involved). There is a lot to learn both from understanding the time and context their myths were written in as well as self-reflection on how certain myths or aspects of deities fit (or don't fit) within your practice.

AYE I'm gonna ask for that yandere rom Zues falling for Nyx pla obsession
🌩Yandere Zeus w/ Platonic!Yandere!Nyx’s!Darling!Reader🌩
It would have to be by pure dumb luck that Zeus was ever able to come across you given how well protected Nyx keeps her precious darling. It may have even been due to someone else’s negligence in speaking of you in passing when Zeus was around that had his ears perked. Either way he’s intrigued.
Whether he actually knows of his darling’s ties to Nyx or not it wouldn’t stop him from pursuing them. After all, nothing has stopped him before, right? If anything his obsession would only worsen. Knowing that he wouldn’t possibly ever be able to have his darling with Nyx involved would only make him want them all the more. He’s not stupid by any means, he knows he’ll have to play smarter to get what he wants. He knows he’ll have to be patient and he’s willing to, only because he knows the prize will be much sweeter if he is. But that doesn’t mean his patience will last long.
Until Zeus can come up with a plan to interact with his darling without Nyx finding out about it he would enlist someone to watch them for him and he would want to know everything. Especially if they’re mortal. There wouldn’t be a single piece of information he wouldn’t eagerly take in. If his darling was another deity then he would go as far as to interrogate whoever was close to them for information, particularly other gods.
If the darling is mortal then there’s more of a chance of Zeus swooping in sooner rather than later. Given the freedom Nyx allows her darling and how physically hands off she is in her obsession for the most part it wouldn’t be too much of a task for Zeus to get close to them. If he’s aware of all the watchful eyes Nyx has watching over her darling for her then Zeus wouldn’t have a problem turning himself into an animal to interact with his darling. Particularly an animal they’re fond of or something of the sort.
If his darling was another deity I think Zeus would feel like he had a little more control in the situation, more so over the darling than Nyx. He’s the King of the Gods after all, why shouldn’t you trust him? Gives him a good enough reason to interact with you too.
Now Zeus isn’t the only one who isn’t stupid, Nyx would be well aware of the sudden interest Zeus is taking in her darling. She would be very gentle in how she approached handling the situation, more so in regards towards her darling than Zeus. Nyx would prioritize protecting her darling over anything else, not just from Zeus but any other unwanted onlookers. She would be quite interested in how Zeus came to know of her darling so she wouldn’t make the same mistake again. Whether that be due to how she went about protecting them or those she trusted with knowledge of her darling to begin with.
It wouldn’t be too far of a stretch for Zeus to try and turn his darling against Nyx, mortal or not. It certainly isn’t the smartest thing to do, especially given who he’s messing with but Zeus is willing to give it a try. He’d even go as far as to make his darling paranoid of everyone and everything around them, especially a mortal darling who has no idea about Nyx’s attachment. Sure he’s not lying about you being watched 24/7 but did he maybe exaggerate a bit? Maybe. Did he possibly have a few other gods enact in his plan to further your paranoia and his claims? Possibly. Did he just start a war a with Nyx? Yes.
Now let’s not forget about Hera cause of course she’s still around. If Zeus were to somehow get his clutches on his darling he would have to keep them somewhere neither Nyx nor Hera could get to them. And that’s easier said then done, especially given how many other gods Nyx would have looking for her darling. But Zeus isn’t just going to give up. No, he’s waited long enough to have his darling he’s not just going to let them be taken away from him. He’s already come this far, why not go a little further.
Nyx may not be as physically involved as some other gods in their obsessions but she certainly isn’t letting anyone take her darling from her. The only reason she would allow for Zeus to continue testing the waters regarding her darling was to see just how much of a threat he would truly be for her. Maybe she had thought that her name alone would keep him away from you but obviously she had underestimated just how captivated he would become with you, or rather the idea of you. And that was her mistake but she wouldn’t let it go on any longer.
If you were to somehow be swindled away from her, Nyx would scour every nook and cranny looking for you. Nothing could get in her way of having you with her once again. Zeus would certainly not be safe from her wrath. No one would be.

series masterlist
prologue:
You had been obsessed with Greek mythology when you were young.
Maybe it was the timelessness of it all, the beauty, love, tragedy. The might of the gods like Zues and Poesidon, the fierceness of Athena’s wit, the firm unforgiving curve of Hera’s brow. The constellations in the deep, inky sky called out to you.
You learned to read them, pick them out in each season. Orion and his bow, Sirius, wagging his tail at you from millions of lightyears away. You liked to talk to them sometimes, when it got tough at home. When the yelling came to be too much. You’d hole up in some corner with a book reading, or you’d look out your window and wonder. Speak to the dark and wonder if maybe they could hear you.
They had endured tragedy too, after all. And though a stepfather that hit you wasn’t a nine-headed beast or a minotaur, it might as well have been. You wondered what it would be like to walk among them; in the time of the Gods. To witness Persephone tumbling forth to the underworld as the world opened up from under her, to see Hera’s rage and wrath and pain firsthand, to feel Poseidon's breeze as Aphrodite was born of the sea-foam.
You loved them; the myths. And the fiction that followed them, books inspired by stories thought up millennia ago.
But one goddess always confused you. You always avoided her stories; the fiery goddess of warmth, of belonging. It hurt too much. The deity that controlled the two most powerful things that you could never touch; fire--the piercing, blazing, sting of it all. Beautiful to look at and just out of reach. Enchanting candles and bonfires you could never touch, lest you become another Icarus, and melt away from the heat of it. Fire, the thing only the gods could touch. And the other: Home.
Home, the word felt foreign on your tongue, bitter.
The goddess of belonging, the deity of home. Hestia smiled at you from every page she appeared on, lips curving into a wicked smirk, holding something over your head you knew you could never achieve. Never possess, never grasp.
It was said that Aphrodite was the goddess of love, that you knew. But it was something you didn’t believe; to you, Aphrodite was the goddess of passion. Of deep, rushing urges, flighty decisions. She was the goddess your mother's tumultuous relationship was born of. And though what she and your stepfather had was piercing and painful, there was no love to be found there. That you were sure of.
No, in your mind Hestia was the goddess of true love, not just the shallow illusion of it. Warmth, stability, belonging: these were all characteristics of love itself. Something you’d never known.
Your mother loved you; That much you knew to be true, but it was a tragic type of love. The type the poets and romantics wrote about. Your mother was Ophelia, sinking into the deep. She was Juliet with a dagger piercing her heart. She was Cordelia, dying of a heart broken by betrayal. A love from Aphrodite had made her like this. She had been all but ruined by your father, as you saw it. She loved you, fiercely, but as though she was trying to provide enough for a mother and a father.
She tore herself apart trying to conceal what was truly happening from you; the bruises, the broken glass, the old jeep missing from the drive-way. And when he did take it out on you, she tore herself apart trying to put you back together. And that was tragic. More tragic than the fates of Orpheus and Eurydice. More tragic than the birth of Dionysus. More than Echo’s love for Narcissus.
And so the goddess of the hearth and home taunted you.
Appalachia was a beautiful place to grow up, but for a little girl living in her own head, it could get lonely too. The mountains and foothills of the blue ridges lived in your soul; That much you knew. They spoke to you, told you stories, kept you company where there was none.
Your family had made home here for generations. You were as much a part of the land as it was a part of you. Like the West Virginia license plate said, you grew up the same way: “Wild and Wonderful.” Barefoot and wild, a true daughter of the mountains.
Where there wasn’t a father, there were the wildflowers. When your mother would shut down, go quiet and for once stop pretending that everything was alright, there was the oak tree with a tire swing. Through the fights and the screaming and the slamming, there was always this. The land. The grass beneath your feet, the wind in your hair, and the mountains above your eyes. And when it was too hot to be outside, your books were always there to welcome you back to the fold; to provide escape.
So, though your life wasn’t perfect by any means, you’d always remember your Gramma’s words. She lived miles away--to the east, in Boone County, a place you’d visited only as an infant--but she made the hours-long journey whenever your mother needed her, which was often. When she’d catch you sulking about something trivial, like a lost card game or not being allowed to have sweets before supper, she’d arch an eyebrow at you, hand on her hip and say:
“Watch your spite. Whatever attitude you put out into this world is what you gon’ get back.”
This, you’d think. I can be content with this. And the West Virginia wind was always there to answer you with its gentle swaying, older than the trees.
-
The first thing your mind registered on the day that you ran was the cold hand on your shoulder as you bolted awake, gasping.
It was still dark outside, the sun hadn’t even begun to peek over the horizon beyond the trailer that you’d only called home for a few weeks now. Your room was bathed in darkness, and your eyes adjusted, only being able to make out the rough shapes of the objects in your room.
You opened your mouth to scream, too scared to look beside you at who had grabbed you. You’d heard some girls in your class talking about a girl getting kidnapped only two weeks ago one county over. When her hand closed over your mouth to stop you, you visibly relaxed. You could smell the lemon perfume still splashed across her wrist, faint after what must have been a long shift at the diner. Mommy.
“Shh, shh,” She soothed, her other hand stroking your pajama-clad back, “it’s me, sweetie, it’s mama. It’s just me.”
Your little fists rubbed your eyes groggily, taking in your surroundings. You brushed your crazy bed head away from your eyes. It was dark, and the digital mermaid clock on your nightstand read 3:32 am. At the foot of your bed, there were two suitcases; ones you’d only seen when Kieth, your mom’s boyfriend, had gone away for work trips. You’d looked forward to those times; It was when the house was calmest, when you were allowed to have the windows open (Kieth didn’t like it when you’d leave the windows open; it meant people could “see too much”). Your mom would put on her old Fleetwood Mac records and tell you stories about your daddy--How they met and how they found out they were pregnant with you.
You weren’t allowed to talk about your daddy when Kieth was home. He didn’t like it and he’d get that mean look on his face. The kind that made your mom freeze. You were scared of Kieth. Which was why you didn’t know what his suitcase was doing here instead of tucked away where it belonged. He’d be angry about that, and everyone knew what happened when he got angry.
Your mom smoothed your hair behind your ears, whispering with careful purpose, “Time to get up, sweetie. It’s time to go.”
You furrowed your eyebrows. Go? Go where? It was still nighttime, as far as your seven-year-old brain could tell, and you were tired.
Swallowing a yawn you began, “Mommy--”
“Shh!” She whisper-yelled, hand coming over your mouth once again. In her eyes was a look you’d never seen before. Your mom was scared. Your eyes widened, not fully understanding what was going on, but understanding that something was going on, and whatever it was, it was bad. She inhaled through her nose and through her mouth, slowly lowering her hand.
“I’m gonna explain the best I can, sweetie, but you’re gonna have to be real, real quiet, ok? We gotta hurry.”
You frantically nodded, eyes drawn together in what could’ve only looked like complete terror.
“You and I are leavin’, lovebug. I got all we need here,” she patted the suitcase, “and in the car. We’re goin’.” She explained, looking over her shoulder at the cracked door. You could hear Kieth’s loud snoring from the other room.
“Like on vacation?” You asked in a tiny voice, confused. You’d never been on vacation before; Not a real one anyway. Only weekend trips to Atlantic City with your cousins every now and then. Your mom closed her eyes for a moment before shaking her head.
“No. Not like vacation,” she sighed, reaching up to grab your cheek. “I’m sorry honey, really I am. I’m sorry it took me this long to realize we have to go. But we do.”
You wouldn’t know what she was referring to until years later, not really grasping what she was saying in a half-awake, eight-year-old brain. Years later, you’d realize she was referring to Kieth: how sorry she was that it had taken this long for her to leave him. Still, eyebrows furrowed in confusion, you nodded at her. You hadn’t realized she was crying until she reached up to wipe under her eyes, sniffling.
She hugged you then, tight. Tighter than you think she’d ever held you before. In that moment, you’d thought that it was more for her than you. You hugged her back.
She sighed, “c’mon, baby. Get your shoes on.”
“Where are we gonna go, mama?”
“Gramma’s, honey. She’s got a room all ready for us.” By now she was busying herself with getting your pink tennis shoes on your feet. Standing up, you let her pull your sweatshirt over your arms.
She looked younger like this, you thought. Like a Princess, here in the moonlight under the cover of nighttime. Here the darkness hid the dark circles and worry lines that made her look older than she actually was. She grabbed your hands.
“Okay, now we’ve gotta walk really quietly, honey. You’re gonna have to put your feet where mine were, do you think you can do that?”
You nodded, peeking around the door, half expecting Kieth to be standing there, hand raised. You silently thanked whatever god was out there that Kieth had never let you get a dog—you didn’t know if you’d have been able to take it with you.
With careful, slow steps you creeped down the dark hallway, dodging the floorboards you knew to be creaky.
After ten minutes of careful precision—well, as much precision as a half-asleep ten-year-old can have—you made it to the old pick-up that had belonged to your father. The gravel crunching beneath her feet, your mother lifted you up into the back seat. After jumping into the front seat herself, she took a deep shuddering breath before slowly turning the ignition, eyes squeezed shut. The gear moved into drive, and head leaned against the window, you slept soundly, without fear, for the first time in years.
By the time you woke up, it was almost five o’clock. The sun was slowly beginning to show its rays, the sky fading from a deep indigo into a light yellow. You looked out the windows at the mountains, thankful that at least one thing felt familiar. The blue ridges always did.
Your mother turned back, smiling at you. A real smile. It made your heart stutter a bit.
Maybe Hestia hasn’t abandoned me, you thought, thinking back to the days when you’d curse the name of the goddess of fire. Back when you actually believed in the goddess of fire.
“Well look who decided to wake up,” your mother smiled, her eyes crinkling. You stifled a yawn, stretching.
“What’s going on?” You asked apprehensively. “Why did we just leave like that? Mama, when we get back he’s gonna be—“
“We aren’t going back.”
You blanked. Not going back? What? The amount of times you’d wished for this exact scenario were too many to count. You should be happy. But what would you do? Would you live with grandma? Where were your things? You only packed one suitcase and your friend Emma had borrowed your Mulan TShirt—oh and school! Where would you go to school—
Your mother said your name. Your eyes snapped to hers in the rear view.
“It’s gonna be okay. I've got a plan, we’ll be fine.”
She paused and you turned to look at the trees passing by. She sighed before speaking again, “okay?”
“Okay.”
“Good. Oh look!” She gasped, pointing to her right, at a bright green sign.
Now Entering Boone County
“We’re here!” She sighed. “I haven’t been back here since your daddy…” She trailed off, but you knew what she meant. She hadn’t been back here since your daddy had died. Keith wouldn’t let her.
Gazing out of the window at the moving trees, you only thought of what lie ahead. You’d moved enough times in your life, first for your dad’s military postings, and then because Kieth never liked to stay in one place for too long. This wasn’t new, but something about it felt that way. You’d like to stay in one place for a while after this one, you thought. As you watched the hills and farms and houses, the sun began to rise, coloring it all gold. You could get used to this.
As you entered the town, you felt it in your chest: this was going to be home. You were sure of it.

Deity Worship Notes:
Hades and Persephone
Often the two are worshipped together, though some hellenic pagans will worship one or the other. What I've seen in most pagan spaces however is the two being worshipped alongside one another as the two deities in question are bound to each other.
Hades
Hades is god of the underworld not god of death (that's Thanatos, Nyx's son).
Son of Cronos and Rhea, when his brothers (Zues and Posideon) divided the cosmos Hades became king of the underworld. When portrayed he is seen with his faithful three headed dog, Cerberus, who guards the gates to the underworld.
Offerings for Hades
Colors: dark purples, golds, and greens.
Crystals: Jet, Obsidian, Amethyst, Jade
Herbs/plants: White poplar, mint.
Food/drink: Bread, wine, fish, cheese, vegetables, fruits (pomegranate for Persephone), and red wine
Persephone
Goddess Queen of the underworld and of spring, Persephone is the wife of Hades and the daughter of Demeter.
Offerings for Persephone.
Food/Drink: pomegranate, honey, wine, spring water, floral teas.
Colors: purples, greens, golds, pinks.
Herbs/plants: pomegranates, spring time herbs and flowers.
Crystals: peridot, green tourmaline, citrine, gold and turquoise.
My experiences with the two deities:
Back when I had moved out of my parents and in with my (now) ex Persephone was the first to reach out to me. She taught me that new beginnings may be hard but they're also worth it. Being the goddess of spring she told me to nurture new relationship and when it came time to reap what had been sown I would be rewarded. She of course, was talking about the relationship with my parents. Before moving out the relationship was very poor, and after I had moved out the relationship was on the mend. After the relationship was where I wanted it to be She and I went our separate ways.
It was near the end of my relationship with my ex that Hades came to me. As with the death card in tarot, he told me that he didn't represent literal death, instead he represented a change. One that would put me through hell and back but with his guidance I was able to make a brilliant change. While what I experienced in that time is still hard for me to talk about, Hades ensured that it was all worth it.
Hades had recently started to reappear in May of this year (2022), and I knew that it was time for another hard ending but a beautiful rebirth.
Hades and Persephone represent more than just literal death and spring. Together they make the perfect pair in helping someone get through a difficult time in life.

Wenvier Bingo - Olympian Gods
It was odd that Xavier had not been claimed as a 17-year-old half-blood.
It was a promise extracted by Percy Jackson from the gods themselves, so the entire camp was aflutter with gossip about how and why.
Some thought perhaps he was the son of a minor god that had faded from memory after he was born. It was rare, but it happened, such as to the great god Pan.
Others wondered if he was a demigod at all, but the fact he could see through the Mist and enter the camp at all, was proof enough of divine heritage.
“Hi! Welcome to the Hermes cabin,” a cheerful girl with blonde hair with tips of blue and pink greeted him.
She showed him to a bunk, which thankfully they had many since half the camp wasn’t unclaimed and shoved there with nowhere else to go.
Even the minor gods got their own cabins, Xavier was the first unclaimed child in over a decade.
“Everyone is pretty clique-y, they like to stay within their own siblings or even dominions. Like the children of Aphrodite hang out with the children of Hedone. The children of the water deities not by Poseidon all hang out together. They seem to think their parent’s dominions limit them…or you could be like us, the Outcasts.”
“The Outcasts?”
“Yeah, we don’t really limit ourselves just because one of our parents happen to be a god. Like Ajax, he’s the son of Nemesis. You would think he’d be all high strung and always out for revenge, but he’s really the chilliest guy you’ll ever meet. He actually likes to hang out with the children of Antheia and Chloris, the goddesses of plants and flowers. He likes to smoke a lot of weed,” she whispered the last part, although she was certain that Dionysus smoked just as much.
“I actually would love to hang out with the Aphrodite kids, they have the best parties and all the latest fashions,” she sighed.
As they walked through the camp, Xavier heard whispers,
He gives kind of an Apollo vibe.
With those gorgeous green eyes? I think he’s the son of Aphrodite.
He’s so tall…maybe part titan?
Xavier wished he wasn’t an orphan and that all his records weren’t missing. He thought if he at least knew the gender of his human parent, then it would cut down on who the god could be.
“Actually,” Enid tried to break it to him gently, “it wouldn’t. The gods aren’t all that concerned about gender, and they really don’t have a binary as humans do…they also don’t limit themselves to human forms.”
Holy fuck, what if I’m part goat?
Xavier worried when he heard the myths of Europa and Leda.
“Then there’s Wednesday, the biggest Outcast of us all.”
She was the daughter of Zues, and Xavier thought she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. He couldn’t help but be impressed as she wielded lightning from the fingertips.
She dressed in black and white and apparently preferred to sleep in the cabin of Hades, which greatly amused the god of the dead while infuriating the god king.
“Sorry Xav,” Enid saw his lovestruck look, “But you really should refrain from getting crushes until you are claimed. She might be your sister.”
Enid went on to explain how the gods didn’t have DNA, so their incest wasn’t really incest, and that it was ok for the half-bloods to date one another from different gods. But despite that, it was still taboo to date siblings, it just was.
He didn’t disagree, but it was galling to be kept waiting for his godly parent to claim him when he was falling in love with Wednesday anyway.
There was a power that buzzed under his skin, something that called out to her, and she felt it as well. They agreed to not do anything until he was claimed, but they both found it harder and harder to stay away from one another.
Wednesday had even lost her patience and gone to Percy Jackson to demand he go to Olympus and find out why one of the gods was delaying.
They were further irritated when he came back and said none of the gods could account for Xavier, and their oath would forbid them from lying and not claiming him anyway.
“Well, it’s still a mystery of who your godly parent is…but given the binding oath…” Wednesday had come to Xavier one night, they were by the lake and under the full moon, “I think it’s safe to say that you are not the son of Zeus and not my sibling.”
She pulled him down for a kiss, and he found himself thinking it was good enough and that he wasn’t about to argue with that logic.
They made love under the watchful eye of Selene, uncaring of the rules or if they were caught.
He was hers and she was his, they didn’t need the protection of the camp and she would simply take him back to New Jersey where she lived with her adopted parents, Morticia and Gomez Addams.
“They would love you, and we could spend out days walking about the cemetery and making love on graves.”
He grinned, he understood why everyone thought she was the daughter of Hades when they met her.
“I’ll destroy anyone and everything that tries to keep us apart,” he promised darkly, the threat rolling off his tongue smoothly, like the sweetest wine from Dionysus’ vineyard.
She grinned, and then gasped when a flaming sword appeared above Xavier. He was finally claimed by the divine.
“Whose symbol is a flaming sword, Ares?” which he never would have guessed was his father, but he was an Outcast.
“Not a flaming one, and it’s usually the boar or spear when he’s claiming his children,” Wednesday was as confused as he was.
They were soon joined by six beings that came from the shadows.
A tall, pale, sickly man that could have been Wednesday’s cousin.
An androgynous being of great beauty and amber eyes that smiled wickedly at them.
A kind woman, also all in black that wore an ankh around her neck.
A large woman in a cream sweater and greasy hair that looked to be on the verge of tears.
A pixie of a girl with wild hair and eyes that glowed different colours.
A blind man in a robe with a book chained to his foot.
Xavier cared not for his nakedness but covered Wednesday with the picnic blanket they had just made love on and stood in front of her.
“Well, Destruction, I would not have thought you would find your great love, but I do have to admire the desire that seeps out of your pores for her…even when you weren’t sure if she was your sister, scandalous,” the beauty teased, their voice like silk and buzzed in his blood.
The pale man rolled his eyes and certainly hoped their newly found sibling had more sense than the idiot, Desire.
They introduced themselves as Dream, Desire, Death, Despair, Delirium, and Destiny.
They were the Endless, beings that predate the gods of any pantheon.
They met with Dionysus and explained exactly what Xavier was.
“The humans have been without the guiding hand of Destruction for centuries, but because they are so good at it themselves, the power of their belief is manifesting itself back into this reality…even with the original Destruction fucked off into whatever reality he’s run away to…” Mr. D tried his best to explain, but even the Endless were part of the mystery that made up reality and the universe that the gods didn’t fully understand.
“Consider yourself an aspect of Destruction,” Destiny better explained, “The Greeks have something similar, where Helios is an aspect of Apollo, you are the manifestation of Destruction in this reality, and have all his duties and domains.”
“So, I’m not a demigod?” Xavier worried he’d be kicked out of Camp.
“Yes and no,” Delirium grinned, the chaos of it all, was enough to drive anyone mad and it was so grand that she very well may turn back into Delight. “Technically you are the grandson of Night, which the Greeks have called Nyx, although obviously we all predate gods, but their beliefs ultimately tie and connect us…” she rambled on, which only made it all the more confusing.
He was certain he would get a headache and start hallucinating if he kept trying to make sense of it, or perhaps it was just being in close quarters with Delirium.
Whatever he was, he would be with Wednesday.
Eventually they made a name for themselves as the force of the all-encompassing love that would destroy whatever got in their way.
Wednesday eventually took up the mantle of Devotion, something between Desire and Destruction and a touch of the madness of Delirium.
When humanity had destroyed itself with Xavier’s inspiration, he, Wednesday, and the Endless simply moved on to the next reality and started again.
More or less.

Deity B: “what do you mean?” Deity A: “I’ll give a human something they’ve asked for and suddenly they don’t want it! I swear....” they groan. Deity B: “Have you ever tried being a human? might help you understand them better.”  Deity A “no... I didn’t think that was an option....” Deity B: “oh yeah I’ve done it many times with C” Deity A: “well it sounds cool, maybe we could do it together sometime.” Deity B smirks “oh this is going to be fun!”
2 hours later Deity A already in human form staring up at 100ft deity B

Hi, sorry long reply ahead. I despise how lore olympus treats , well, most of its characters/races. But what baffles me the most is how it treats nymphs as second class citizens. The nymphs in mythos ,while not as powerful , were still considered gods/deities. They were literal children of the gods and could be dangerous i. f crossed. I don't see nymphs use any powers as often as the "gods" do. Which is a real missed opportunity. They are basically colorful long lived humans at this point.
And I don't see why marrying one was considered "lower " in l.o because plenty of major gods married them in myth. I don't get the "i have to marry a fellow god" mentality some characters have. Amphitrite was a nymph, one of dubious consent in myth because posiden was gonna start if she didn't agree to marrige (last I checked.)
Hephestus married one after he and Aphrodite split.(slight veer ,I wanna tie in that Aphrodite was always forced to marry Hephestus, she was presented as prize for him. I don't feel sorry for him that she strayed. I actually prefer him divorcing dite then going to marry a nymph later. That could have been a subversion of how sometimes its better to end a relationship and find a healthier one than to try and keep it going. And it could be a critique of forced marriages and why zues [interfering parties] shouldn’t be in charge of them 🤔. I hate that whole , "dite realized ares wasn't good for her, so she left him for Hephestus." modern retelling because it sweeps Hephestus wrongs for the forced union under the rug as well as dite's preexisting relationships. Buuut I digress.)
Metis in some myths is a Nymph. An oceanid if I recall correctly... (ocean nymphs are done so dirty in this comic two, some were changed to flower nymphs for NO reason... rip Leuce, Metis, there's more I'm sure)
But we don't see that, we don't see how strong they can be too. These are mini nature goddesses for Pete sake. What is with the nymph slander in this comic?
And how they are talked down! Amphitrite probably has seen so much slander even from fellow goddesses. And we don't see any commentary on that from her perspective, it comes across as overlooking. Nymphs are fetishized as well as looked down on and it does unaddressed in this comic because its portrayed as a class thing rather than racism... well it could be considered both, but this comic comes across as anti-labor and classiest sometimes.
Why aren't they portrayed with more complexity and power? Daphne is a straight up hypocrite but still looks like a victim by narratives standards. So she isn't called out for her actions while Minthe is.. Minthe had complexity, yet she was still downplayed, victimized, and sympathetic, and rather than play on her complexity, she was villainized ,overly punished, and tossed to the side. I still feel worse for her than i ever will persephone. All nymphs here are accessories and temporary props. Which is sad cus some nymphs were very important in mythos. They're just constant overlooked victims in this work and it crushes me cus their lore is fascinating.
^^^
all great points, I don't have much else to add.

After the rebellion of Thebes against the Hyksos and with the rule of Ahmose I (16th century BC), Amun acquired national importance, expressed in his fusion with the Sun god, Ra, as Amun-Ra (alternatively spelled Amon-Ra or Amun-Re).
Amun-Ra retained chief importance in the Egyptian pantheon throughout the New Kingdom (with the exception of the "Atenist heresy" under Akhenaten). Amun-Ra in this period (16th to 11th centuries BC) held the position of transcendental, self-created creator deity "par excellence"; he was the champion of the poor or troubled and central to personal piety. With Osiris, Amun-Ra is the most widely recorded of the Egyptian gods.
As the chief deity of the Egyptian Empire, Amun-Ra also came to be worshipped outside Egypt, according to the testimony of ancient Greek historiographers in Libya and Nubia. As Zeus-Ammon, he came to be identified with Zeus in Greece.
Amun and Amaunet are mentioned in the Old Egyptian Pyramid Texts. The name Amun (written imn) meant something like "the hidden one" or "invisible".

Amunet or Imnt is a primordial goddess in ancient Egyptian religion.Thebes was the center of her worship through the last dynasty, the Ptolemaic Kingdom, in 30 BC. She is attested in the earliest known of Egyptian religious texts and, as was the custom, was paired with a counterpart who is entitled with the same name, but in the masculine, Amun. They were thought to have existed prior to the beginning of creation along with three other couples representing primeval concepts.
Roles
Protector of the king, air and invisibility, hidden forces, female counterpart of Amun, part of the Ogdoad.
Description and History
Her name, jmnt, is a feminine noun that means "The Hidden One". She is a member of the Ogdoad of Hermopolis, who represented aspects of the primeval existence before the creation: Amunet was paired with Amun—whose name also means "The Hidden One", with a masculine ending (jmn)—within this divine group, from the earliest known documentation. Such pairing of deities is characteristic of the religious concepts of the ancient Egyptians. In early concepts known as the Ogdoad, the primeval deity group to which they belonged as "Night" (or as the determinative D41 meaning "to halt, stop, deny", suggesting the principle of inactivity or repose),was composed of four balanced couples of deities or deified primeval concepts.
Speculation exists that Amunet may have been conceived by later theologians as a complement to Amun, rather than being an independent deity originally, however, the Pyramid Texts, the earliest known religious texts of Ancient Egypt, mention "the beneficent shadow of Amun and Amunet"
Draconian
Egyptian-Draconian Grimoire Asenath Mason
Let me clarify. The idea of Khepra being the Sun at midnight, or alternatively the Black Sun, is a new invention, only dating back approximately 120 years or so. Before that, historically speaking, he was the god of the sun at dawn, so the idea of him corresponding to the sun at midnight is a modern occultism invention. Amun was the original hidden god, dating back to ancient Egyptian antiquity. Before there was RA, there was Amun. Before the light there was the hidden one. Before the light came onto the scene, there was the hidden. Before the light is always the dark.
Amun was known as the chief of the ancient Egyptian deities, but is also one of the most mysterious in hindsight. He was the patron deity of Thebes, and the easiest way to think of Thebes is that it was the ancient city that was where Karnak and Luxor are located still to this day. He was known as the king of the gods, or the equivalent thereof, but also corresponded to protecting the king, self-creation, and fertility. Briefly, he was a deity that was so open to interpretation that it was up to the individual follower to define him, rather than a set list of correspondences for one to memorize and come into line with.
Amun is often times misunderstood as a solar deity, but in reality, as you can see above, he was actually a nocturnal deity. Well, even that is not true as he did not correspond to the Moon, but rather he corresponded to the nebulous and the hidden, the veiled, unknown, and subjective. Ile was in fact so popular that he was blended with later deities such as Amun-Ra, and to this day his name has still continued in the phrase "Amen." While Aleister Crowley has discussed his perspective on the word, we can confidently say that is only one perspective on it, as he did not address the draconian roots of the deity, but rather the aspects of him that fit his particular magical system. In this working we are going to look at his true ancient history and draconian roots, and make contact with one of the most ancient and veiled deities on the planet that can assist us in developing our dark sight and our ability to see into the hidden and the concealed.

Hymns to Amun-Ra
Lord of truth, father of the gods, maker of men, creator of all animals, Lord of things that are, creator of the staff of life.
Amon-Re "who hears the prayer, who comes at the cry of the poor and distressed...Beware of him! Repeat him to son and daughter, to great and small; relate him to generations of generations who have not yet come into being; relate him to fishes in the deep, to birds in heaven; repeat him to him who does not know him and to him who knows him ... Though it may be that the servant is normal in doing wrong, yet the Lord is normal in being merciful. The Lord of Thebes does not spend an entire day angry. As for his anger – in the completion of a moment there is no remnant ... As thy Ka endures! thou wilt be merciful!
All gods are three: Amun, Re and Ptah, whom none equals. He who hides his name as Amun, he appears to the face as Re, his body is Ptah.
The tempest moves aside for the sailor who remembers the name of Amon. The storm becomes a sweet breeze for he who invokes His name ... Amon is more effective than millions for he who places Him in his heart. Thanks to Him the single man becomes stronger than a crowd.

well because amira asked me ( @amira-wayne-al-ghul ), here’s my story. the one that tells you how i became aasia, the goddess of the dark and shadows. how i died too, i guess.
it gets slightly long so it’s under the cut
well, we first go back a hundred years, when my grandfather was in need of someone to carry forth the league, to have someone to be in charge of the league. somewhere during this time, my mother had an affair with erebus, the greek personification of darkness. this has confused me for a while too, mainly since he was a primordial but i did not know off this until a few months ago.
my mother was pregnant, and seeing this as a perfect chance, my grandfather prayed to the deities. all of them, the primordials, the gods, anyone he could. none answered for a while, but then when my mother was eight months long, one answered.
nyx, the personification and primordial of the night, as well as the wife or erebus, answered. i’m not sure what grandfather offered her, or if it was only because i was, in a way, her child too, but she answered. she promised my grandfather two things: 1. i would have great power when i was born and 2. i would be immortal, not die unless killed my someone who can kill a god. while me being a god wasn’t promised, nyx prophesied that if i was worthy, i would join olympus
she took me under her wing from the moment i opened my eyes. nyx was my patron, she taught me everything when it came to powers. my mother taught me the skills of being an assassin, grandfather how to lead, and nyx how to be great.
however, you couldn’t stop a teenager. i was quite the party girl, be it only on weekends, but every sunday i would drink with someone, who i didn’t know was dionysus. that’s how i met primrose, the daughter of demeter, as well.
i was twenty when the final test came to me. this was around eighty three years ago, but the gods tested me. bended me until i broke, and nyx thought i was worthy enough. i had just passed their trials, fought creatures they couldn’t and won, not to mention i was still half primordial. so nyx confronted zues and out of the fear he held for my patron, he made me a god. i stopped ageing.
olympus and i never got along, aside from maybe dionysus, hestia and persephone, none of them really liked me but it didn’t matter because the gods of the darkness did. the smaller ones often over looked by the so called olympians loved me, and for them i would give the world.
dionysus threw a lot of parties, many of which i attended, where i met andrea, who i thought i was the one for me for seventy years. mother hated andrea’s mom, and my lover, but i was . . . i was so taken by her i gave her my everything. my first love. we stayed together for long years, so many so i’ve lost count, but then because of something she still blames me for, we broke up.
i got reckless. amira was born not long after and then she and aisha became my one goal to protect. prim and i stayed home, helping mama raise those two, i was there for every small achievement until they turned five. until one day, grandfather sent me on a mission.
what i hadn’t known then was that this mission was to kill me. for my death. so i went, and i died. a dagger in my heart from where he stabbed me and buried me, right next to his beloved.
that was me, until i died.

I never, ever, had a Greek Mythology phase. I find the Greek Mythos to be tainted by Ba'al (you could say, Near East influence.)
I find the Germanic mythos to be closer to the truth, albeit not full truth (through no fault of their own because Christ had not yet come).
I'll explain. Thor, Zues, Ba'al Hadad are cognate deities (see hammer/adz and lightening above). Like Ba'al, Zues claims to have subdued the chaos serpent and claims to be the Chief Deity.
Thor is different. He is not presented as the Chief Deity, his slaying of the dragon has not yet happened, and is not associated in anyway with a claim to be a master over the order of the cosmos. Instead that idea is represented by Odin, his brothers, and the slaying of Ymir.
In short, the usurping of the Divine Council by the storm deity did not arrive. I find that to be meaningful.

Apollo being the heir to Zues is such a funny concept. Like, we already saw in the finale that he doesn't give a shit and just puts up an act for Dionysus' sake. But, can you imagine the pure gold that is Apollo when it's not the Season? When he doesn't have a thousand eyes on him? Because, we all know that Apollo is so unserious. He's petty, he's a bitch, most of the time he's just vibing with his sister. Sure, yeah, he's the god of civilisation and a very powerful deity, but he's still a petty bitch. And, he's a 1000% done with Zues' bs. This man will not stop roasting his father. This man will look straight at Zues and tell him to go off himself. And, with the added weight of Hera and how she dealt with Leto.....yeah, Apollo's gonna be a petty bitch.
Zues *when shit blows up in his face*: This didn't go according to plan.
Apollo (professional petty bitch): Wow, I couldn't tell. Honestly, I thought this was your plan. It's just so good. This was definitely worth abandoning everything I ever had.
