#Why PHP is called?

Why PHP is called?
Tumblr media
PHP originally stood for "Personal Home Page," as it was created by Rasmus Lerdorf in 1994 to help him manage his personal webpage. However, over time, PHP's capabilities expanded beyond just personal web pages, and its acronym's meaning evolved as well.
PHP's acronym has gone through several changes:
Personal Home Page (PHP)
PHP was initially created by Rasmus Lerdorf as a set of tools to manage his personal homepage, which mainly consisted of displaying his résumé and keeping track of visitors.
The first version of PHP was known as "Personal Home Page Tools" or "PHP Tools."
Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP)
As PHP's capabilities grew to include more complex scripting and programming features, it was rebranded to "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor" to reflect its role in processing dynamic web content.
The recursive acronym "PHP" now stands for "PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor." This name emphasizes its ability to preprocess hypertext (HTML) and dynamically generate web content.
The name "Hypertext Preprocessor" reflects PHP's primary function as a server-side scripting language used for generating dynamic content, processing forms, interacting with databases, and performing various other web-related tasks. PHP scripts are embedded within HTML code and are executed on the server, generating HTML that is then sent to the client's browser. This process allows websites to provide dynamic and interactive experiences for users.
In summary, PHP is called "Hypertext Preprocessor" because it processes hypertext (HTML) and dynamically generates web content on the server side. While its acronym has changed its meaning over time, it's now recognized as a versatile scripting language for web development.

When I was in the ER because of a ptsd episode or whatever they wanted a sample for a pregnancy test and I was like no I am not pregnant, literally no chance, please don’t waste time running the rest just get me out of here and the doctor was mad at me she straight up snapped that they have to because if they gave me medicine it could hurt the baby if I was pregnant and it didn’t matter what I said because I couldn’t actually be sure, when I said I was gay and never had straight sex she was like well then just do it anyway. Turns out, when I got my discharge papers, they tested me for drugs and not pregnancy as far as I could tell. Thanks guys, least helpful hospital visit of my entire life

SQL Fundamentals #1: SQL Data Definition
Last year in college , I had the opportunity to dive deep into SQL. The course was made even more exciting by an amazing instructor . Fast forward to today, and I regularly use SQL in my backend development work with PHP. Today, I felt the need to refresh my SQL knowledge a bit, and that's why I've put together three posts aimed at helping beginners grasp the fundamentals of SQL.
Understanding Relational Databases
Let's Begin with the Basics: What Is a Database?
Simply put, a database is like a digital warehouse where you store large amounts of data. When you work on projects that involve data, you need a place to keep that data organized and accessible, and that's where databases come into play.
Exploring Different Types of Databases
When it comes to databases, there are two primary types to consider: relational and non-relational.
Relational Databases: Structured Like Tables
Think of a relational database as a collection of neatly organized tables, somewhat like rows and columns in an Excel spreadsheet. Each table represents a specific type of information, and these tables are interconnected through shared attributes. It's similar to a well-organized library catalog where you can find books by author, title, or genre.
Key Points:
Tables with rows and columns.
Data is neatly structured, much like a library catalog.
You use a structured query language (SQL) to interact with it.
Ideal for handling structured data with complex relationships.
Non-Relational Databases: Flexibility in Containers
Now, imagine a non-relational database as a collection of flexible containers, more like bins or boxes. Each container holds data, but they don't have to adhere to a fixed format. It's like managing a diverse collection of items in various boxes without strict rules. This flexibility is incredibly useful when dealing with unstructured or rapidly changing data, like social media posts or sensor readings.
Key Points:
Data can be stored in diverse formats.
There's no rigid structure; adaptability is the name of the game.
Non-relational databases (often called NoSQL databases) are commonly used.
Ideal for handling unstructured or dynamic data.
Now, Let's Dive into SQL:
Tumblr media
SQL is a :
Data Definition language ( what todays post is all about )
Data Manipulation language
Data Query language
Task: Building and Interacting with a Bookstore Database
Setting Up the Database
Our first step in creating a bookstore database is to establish it. You can achieve this with a straightforward SQL command:
CREATE DATABASE bookstoreDB;
SQL Data Definition
As the name suggests, this step is all about defining your tables. By the end of this phase, your database and the tables within it are created and ready for action.
Tumblr media
1 - Introducing the 'Books' Table
A bookstore is all about its collection of books, so our 'bookstoreDB' needs a place to store them. We'll call this place the 'books' table. Here's how you create it:
CREATE TABLE books ( -- Don't worry, we'll fill this in soon! );
Now, each book has its own set of unique details, including titles, authors, genres, publication years, and prices. These details will become the columns in our 'books' table, ensuring that every book can be fully described.
Now that we have the plan, let's create our 'books' table with all these attributes:
CREATE TABLE books ( title VARCHAR(40), author VARCHAR(40), genre VARCHAR(40), publishedYear DATE, price INT(10) );
With this structure in place, our bookstore database is ready to house a world of books.
2 - Making Changes to the Table
Sometimes, you might need to modify a table you've created in your database. Whether it's correcting an error during table creation, renaming the table, or adding/removing columns, these changes are made using the 'ALTER TABLE' command.
For instance, if you want to rename your 'books' table:
ALTER TABLE books RENAME TO books_table;
If you want to add a new column:
ALTER TABLE books ADD COLUMN description VARCHAR(100);
Or, if you need to delete a column:
ALTER TABLE books DROP COLUMN title;
3 - Dropping the Table
Finally, if you ever want to remove a table you've created in your database, you can do so using the 'DROP TABLE' command:
DROP TABLE books;
To keep this post concise, our next post will delve into the second step, which involves data manipulation. Once our bookstore database is up and running with its tables, we'll explore how to modify and enrich it with new information and data. Stay tuned ...

The rays of the midday sun seep into a familiar room’s willowy curtains, gently hitting the chiming phone atop the desk near the windows.
Tumblr media
—multiple message notifications pop up on the lock screen under the name “sakiii”.
A hand quickly grabs the device and deft fingers immediately swipe at the notification block, typing up a reply as the phone unlocks.
While the phone continues to chime and replies and chats are exchanged, a mop of pink hair flutters as the owner of the mobile opens the room’s door, a happy skip in his step as he exits the dorm and walks out of the campus dormitories.
Yuuji had made plans with Kugisaki, Fushiguro, and Gojo-sensei last week—more like he was suddenly ordered to clear up his schedule without any preamble, but Yuuji didn’t care and just happily obliged because he originally didn’t have anything planned anyway. He wasn’t told why he needed to do so, though, so he was left to wander over to their meeting place without any context.
With a hum, Yuuji exits the chat interface and opens his phone’s map, finally reaching the exit of the campus.
As the warm outside air brushes over tan skin, his phone’s map then loads up directions to the place Yuuji inputted on the search bar. A series of left and right turns that looks akin to a maze pop into his view, and Yuuji prays that he won’t get lost following the guide.
When he takes a turn for the third time on the fourth intersection he’s passed, Yuuji is met with… a minor inconvenience: an old lady sprawled on the floor with fruits and vegetables littered around her.
With the time on his phone turning 1:05 PM, slowly nearing the supposed meeting time, Yuuji tilts his head in contemplation and takes a step.
——————————————
What should Yuuji do next? 1. Walk up to the old lady. OR 2. Turn around and look for another route.
POLL RESULTS: [Option 1] - 100% [Option 2] - 0%
——————————————
PART ONE | NEXT
——————————————
That's it for the first part!!! It's not much yet but,, well you will technically determine how the story goes so 🤷
ANywhooo go check out the event and alsooo @27_mswi has a funding system called TORA Mileprint,, you can donate any amount of PHP to help fund future events and it also has a stretch goal in which, if met, those who will buy the merch bundle that the event offers will be able to have the corresponding items!!!
anywayyyss that's all and I hope I can see everyone on the day of the event!!!! ^^

Will Wright was passionate about rallying and how it was shown in The Sims 2
While researching the development history of the original The Sims on TCRF, I came across a link to a fan site about Will Wright in the sources:
This is a very interesting site. There's a biography of him. And one of the chapters describes that Will Wright was into rallying and even participated in one of them:
https://web.archive.org/web/20200119021426/http://will-wright.com/willshistory1.php
Will Wright also used to be into Rally, before he was into computers. "It's very small in the States. The American version of Rally was in fact a little more hardcore than the European. It wasn't as competitive but they didn't allow pace notes and so when you're going down the road you don't know what's around the corner. I still love following the WRC".
He plotted a route through the southern states that was hundreds of miles longer than the more popular path. It avoided the northern roads likely to attract more contestants and police. He and a partner, the race organizer, zoomed across the country in a Mazda RX-7 outfitted with a souped-up engine, a roll cage, an extra fuel tank, a night-vision scope, two police radar detectors and a prototype of a radar jammer. The team got one speeding ticket near Indianapolis and Mr. Wright talked his way out of two others, once by pretending to be a lost local resident and once he convinced an Indiana state trooper he was a writer for an automobile magazine test-driving a car when he was pulled over for doing 104 mph.He actually won that race with a time of 33 hours, 39 minutes.".
Tumblr media
How it was shown in The Sims 2?
And this hobby of Will Wright was shown in the game. For example, in the form of this collection of objects:
And the tire table was posted by EA for the download as far back as the turn of 2004-2005. But there's also the sports car from the base game.
It was supposed to be an aspiration reward. But it was also, at the same time, a CAREER reward for the career of a "car racer", the costumes for which are available in the base game.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But it's not that simple. After digging around in the car code, at the level of, I must say, my shabby knowledge, I came to the conclusion that there should be two career rewards for each career. The first is something given out at early career levels, like a punching bag, purely to pump up skills faster. But the SECOND award should have been... cars - and not at all "decorative" or working as a "personal cab", aka house - community lot - other community lot - house with the additional option of going to visit other sims.
Suppose your sim works in the police. At the beginning of his career he can get a scanner, and at later stages he can get his own, real, personal police car. When he selects the "Drive to Work" option in this car, he will not go to the unknown, but, for example, to a community lot where thieves, robbers, pickpockets like the Unsavory Charlatan, drug dealers and pimps will show up. Sim can arrest all these criminals, take them to the police station, and interrogate them "with intensity".
Pretty cool, huh? About the AUTORACING... Take a look at this ancient "kind of mod"...
Swimming competition!!! (Note - part of it, namely the lane dividers in the pools, "went" to Nightlife EP). And the dog competitions are in The Sims Pet Stories! On that basis, then why wouldn't there be car racing in the game as well? Especially since the motion animation is in Nightlife EP.
But everything is not so simple with the racers. Something is missing... Maybe THIS... (helmet)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please pay attention to this creator's work in general. If it is something from the game, you get a "good and quality" thing. However, when you start to "unselect", there are problems with textures and with a lot of polygons, which leads to a bad result.
Link to the content:
I also noticed that the helmets matched the colors of the suits. So there had to be a green suit, a yellow suit, and a pink suit.
На русском языке (and how to make races suits available in sport category of clothes):

Okay great, I get to do the intensive outpatient program (half days - mornings) for anxiety/OCD. Starting in a few weeks. I now get to figure out what exactly I say to my boss and when. I’ve done it before but it’s been a long time!
For any of you who didn’t follow me back when I did this - I had terrible PPA after C was born. All my usual anxiety shit was ratcheted up, and I had some new things that seemed to have sprung up due to the Las Vegas shooting happening during my maternity leave. It finally got bad enough that social worker BFF said I should consider treatment.
At the time I did PHP (partial hospitalization - ie full weekdays) and then stepped down to IOP. I think it lasted 10-12 weeks between the two.
The program included some amounts of CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and art therapy, with the bulk of the time being spent on ERP (exposure and response prevention). Just doing exposures to trigger anxiety and sitting with it until it reduces at least by half. This is why I say I don’t want to go back - that shit is HARD. But it really works. Those of us with this flavor of anxiety get in a thought trap where we think anxiety is unbearable and that it won’t go away unless we [insert unhealthy behavior or ritual/compulsion]. But in fact it will eventually go away on its own. I just need to retrain my muscles for tolerating discomfort.
For me, some of the specific exposures were:
- for fear of being wrong, tell someone an incorrect fact on purpose (my favorite was “Massachusetts wasn’t one of the original 13 colonies.”)
- for fear of people thinking I’m weird, face the “wrong” way in an elevator
(Most of these things were done with employees at the facility. Not just random people on the street or something. Oh although one of my things was to send a work email without checking it for typos).
Eventually I built up to something they called “interroceptives” which were activities meant to simulate physical feelings of panic, like spinning in a chair or trying to breathe through a cocktail straw.
Anyway, when I did it the first time, I remember it gave me so much freedom. So many things I’d thought impossible or too scary, I could do. But the disinclination to sit with discomfort can creep back in.
I think my current issues are different than last time I went in! Back then I was still working as a statistician, so I had very specific “I’ve forgotten everything I learned in grad school” thoughts. Now that I do a different type of job, I’m more secure (although less so again with new hard to read boss). My current issues are much more social in nature. I can’t bear talking to other Girl Scout moms. All my friends actually hate me. Etc.
And more agitation about things needing to be “just right.” Almost all household chores except laundry are too overwhelming to start. Anyway, I’m pumped to get it all sorted out! And I hope my favorite mental health specialist is still there although that’s unlikely cause I think it’s a high turnover job. But we shall see!

I don't like talking about twitter drama anywhere but I just found the funniest twitter drama I've seen and it's literally about turon (a filipino snack made up of a fried wrapped banana with glazed sugar). Here's the translated thread as I guide you to this insanity:
Tumblr media
"I SCOLDED CASHIERS AT SM MANILA SUPERMARKET. The line to buy a turon was long and there were only a few turon left on the stand. I was in the middle of the line and there was a lot more people behind me that wanted to avail a turon."
Tumblr media
"There were 2 cashiers that were on break or had clocked out maybe that went to the cashier of the turon stand, and I heard that they were trying to reserve 2 turon. The cashier said 'Go to the line hey' but these two insisted that they don't need to go on the queue. So my blood started boiling because I really hate getting cut off in line."
Tumblr media
"Then the one cashier took 2 turons for the two cashiers that cut in line. One of them said 'Dat ours?' then the cashier gave the turon to the two cashiers that cut in line and were waiting at the counter to pay. So my blood boiled even more."
Tumblr media
"Then I told the cashier 'Miss you actually let these two cut in line while there's so many people in line, you're being unfair to the people waiting at the back' the cashier said 'Ah the two, sir?' Then I replied 'Obviously, yes!' with a bit of an angry tone in my voice."
Tumblr media
"The 2 cashiers that cut in line for the turon were already holding them then I told these other two who were assigned in the counter that 'If you don't give up the turon, I'll let your manager know, there's a lot of people in line hoping to buy it too.' Dont tolerate that kind of attitude. So unfair!"
Tumblr media
"The two cashiers didn't really say anything and they took the turon from the other two that cut in line. I just don't get why there's these kinds of people that could already see that there's a line but are still forcing themselves in and would choose to be unfair to others."
Tumblr media
"Given that they're employees of SM, shouldn't they be more understanding because we're customers where they work. I'm not saying that the customer is always right, I just wish that they also know what's right and wrong. And there, I was able to buy a Turon with Chocnut*. Delicious!"
Tumblr media
"And the people in line behind me because they were also able to buy some. 😊"
Additional Context:
Turon in SM is priced at PHP 25 which is relatively cheap. It's bout 0.50 USD?
More comparatively, seeing as OP looked at least middle to upper class (we'll discuss that later), it would've been easily affordable to him, but maybe a bit of a struggle for the two cashiers since they make less than the national average and are also contractual, often losing their jobs and not having any benefits.
Chocnut - a popular Filipino peanut butter chocolate that has a powdery consistency. it often melts in your mouth and is widely popular and beloved across the country.
This shit blew up and I mean blew up like this was just over ONE thread
Tumblr media
It blew up so much that TURON started trending in Filipino twitter
Tumblr media
Most people agreed that although cutting in line is bad, it seemed like OP felt way too proud of himself and probably should've just let it go because they were probably underpaid, overworked employees who only had 15 minute breaks.
OP's replies were also reeeeally self-important like
Tumblr media
Person 1: mygod girl just dont anger a hungry person. lols OP: I stood up not for myself but for the people who were in line too and willing to wait. Again, respect and let's just be fair. Person 2: Oh no, he rly thinks of himself as a hero after what he's done here 😭😭😭😭
People jokingly started calling OP patay-gutom (lit. dead-hungry), a term we use here for someone extremely hungry and typically those who are hungry because of extreme poverty so OP decided to prove the haters wrong by... telling people that he was actually a millionaire???
Tumblr media
Person 3: You're a bit patay-gutom sis in this part. All that lashing for turon? Hahaha. Get a life girly! Person 3: This is the deleted tweet of sissy @/op's handle [Screenshot of OP's tweet with an attached censored image of one of his bank account information that shows that he has 1.5 Million Pesos. OP: Me who's patay-gutom and a girly with no life, is this okay now? Or do I SS my other banks? Jkkkk✌🏻]
So anyway, here's some of my favorite tweets translated!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The turon of SM, bow The turon of SM is queued for The sweet banana, sugar and chocnut Spreads at every bite Giving joy to those in line and the cashier Yet the poor cashier Who stood for ten hours Was denied two of the turon...
Tumblr media
Next time you should just buy turon here I mean you have P1.5 M in Metrobank anyway [Image of the top of a menu for Amanpulo Clubhouse Restaurant]
Tumblr media
The line for turon at SM jk: [screenshots of two videos of people slowly walking in a line in a crowded railway station]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
motherfucker your thread is so long that if you just used the time you used to type to just go to the next sm to buy turon
Tumblr media
------------------
It's officially been about a day and half since this happened but it's still trending right now which is pretty crazy. I don't think I've ever been this blown away with discourse over filo twitter until now. I will probably think about Turon Man for a good while.

I still sometimes have the urge to be sick (with the ed) or at least sick enough. I am mostly able to brush those thoughts off because I have no interest in spending the rest of my life continuing the cycle of being in and out of treatment centers.
But today that thought is very loud and that is NOT a good way to start off an incredibly stressful few weeks. I’ve been at the crossroads of recovery vs relapse for a while now and I am scared this will push me over the edge. I have several scales saved on my Amazon account but I can’t bring myself to purchase one because I feel like that’s the crucial boundary between recovery and relapse. Once I buy that scale it’s all over and relapse has fully set in.
Treatment is stuff is up in the air. As of Jan. 1st I will have new insurance and that complicates things. I am 99% positive I will continue with treatment. It’s just a matter of where and if I will be accepted at iop vs php. Right now, my current insurance has approved me through Dec. 31st so I will be staying where I’m at until then. But that’s only two more weeks and leaving the staff behind brings up a whole set of attachment issues.
Finally, I am dreading Christmas. Usually it’s my favorite time of year and I enjoy every minute of it. This will be the second year I am completely alone on Christmas Day. My brother and his wife are going on a two week cruise for their honeymoon. I refuse to go up to Utah and stay at my parent’s house where Christmas will be celebrated. Obviously they are not coming down here. That leaves me with no one. Same as last year. My Mom called me for the second time since the wedding. She wanted access to my Amazon wish list so she could send me presents. I had recently, purposely, removed her access because I knew her presents would be picked from there. I wasn’t sure why getting Christmas presents pissed me off so much. Of course, I am grateful for them and know what a privilege it is to receive them. But it’s not about that. It’s that as I have grown older Christmas has become less and less about the presents and more about the memories, the excitement in the air, and all the traditions and time spent with my family. The past two years it has felt like I can’t have that. Last year I didn’t decorate until Christmas Eve and only because LS encouraged me to. This year, I have slowly put decorations up. But it doesn’t seem celebratory at all. It feels like it will be just your usual day except I get two days of PTO. This makes me so sad. I adore Christmas and it feels like whole thing has been erased.

15 Questions Game
Taggedy by @captaincravatthecapricious
1. Were you named after anybody?
My grandma, kind of? My middle name anyway, which is the one I use. My first name, which I do not use, Came To My Mother in a Dream, so.
2. When was the last time you cried?
I’m getting better about this, so the answer is no longer “on the highway seven years ago”. I think I kinda hunched over and made guttural noises because the world was too much for a moment a couple days ago.
3. Do you have kids?
That is so incredibly not in the cards.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Would I do that?
5. What sports do you play/have played?
If I had played sports at some point maybe I would’ve been a little less *gestures at everything* but no, the closest I got was Renaissance Fencing Club (we weren’t allowed to call it Fight Club but it was the Swing Bamboo Sticks at Each Other club).
6. What's the first thing you notice about someone?
Usually that they are talking to me because god. god. I am so spacey.
7. Eye color?
Greenish.
8. Scary movies or happy endings?
Why not both? But no I am a sucker for a happy ending.
9. Any special talents?
I can debug really unintuitive Python and PHP errors, and sometimes Javascript, especially if it’s a type issue. (It’s usually a type issue.) I can recite Galadriel’s Lament in Lothlorien from memory, in Elvish. I seem to be developing a bit of a green thumb? Oh! I can re-finish a wood floor!
10. Where were you born?
Not in Michigan.
11. What are your hobbies?
House plants, making chainmaille fidget toys, making art for friends, writing for friends, reading with friends, bothering the cat, cooking I guess.
12. Do you have any pets?
At no point in my life, except in the college dorms, have I lived without a cat. King Chonk is my current orange beast.
13. How tall are you?
I swear I used to be 5’8 but I guess I slouch now because the doctor’s office is consistently measuring 5’7 💀
14. Favorite subject in school?
Whichever class I was in at the moment tbh. Except history, I never got the hang of history.
15. Dream job?
God I really enjoyed transcribing when I did that for a bit, if only the income was remotely livable. I also love doing image descriptions. I just like taking things from one format and putting them in another format. The problem is I end up hating any passion project once I have to do it for money / to someone else’s demands, so “dream job” isn’t something I really think about.

Secondly. Therapy talk.
I forget what led up to it, but at one point my therapist (who was doing some big parts/Parts type work that session) asked a part of me what I was protecting, and I said "connections," as in relationships with people. Friendships, etc. When they asked why connections are worth protecting, some part of me just blurted out "they make me happy!" But immediately after that I sort of freaked out a little bit and quickly tried to come up with other things. Connections are a basic human need, they give you things you need like love and support. Very textbook.
My therapist sort of called me out on it. Said that when I said "they make me happy" as the first thing, they could tell I immediately pushed that part aside to say other things. They said we can acknowledge all the parts that said all the things, but they want to make sure that part is heard. I said I felt like I got caught in a trap (not one set by them, of course) or caught doing something wrong.
"They make me happy" being the first thing just feels so selfish to me. But I let that part speak, even if it was hard. I/they said they never really had friends. SpEd programs had a high turnover rate. I never got to make close connections. I was jealous of everyone else who got invited to parties and hung out with their friends. When I sort of had a friend group in highschool (I knew them from a LGBT youth group outside of school, when I got mainstreamed they were the only people I knew, and it was senior year so there wasn't a ton of time to make new friends) they had all these inside jokes with each other, hung out outside of school without me, I remember being particularly jealous that they had a D&D game with all of them that I never even got invited to, and I really really had wanted to play D&D since I learned what it was. I think I might've asked at some point but I'm not sure. They just seemed really happy with each other. They had a lot of fun. And I wanted that really really bad. I was just sort of. Someone they said hi to and knew the name of. If we happened to be in classes together we'd pair up for things. That sort of thing. Not really anything more. I didn't even really hang out at people's houses.
I have friends now, of course. But it's still hard and strange. I don't really know how to navigate any of this. I didn't really get practice making close friendships like everybody else did. It feels like I missed something really big and formative. And I know everyone says high school sucks. But I feel like it's still important, socially. People make close friends in high school. And I kind of missed that. I don't even really remember anyone's names. Then again, I barely remember high school at all. I know about some stuff that happened, but I don't really remember it. It doesn't help that so much of it was a shuffle of PHPs and inpatient stays and SpEd schools. I spent most of my high school in treatment programs.
I don't really remember a lot of the session. But I remember that very strongly. I want friends because they make me happy.

can you tell us about the worldbuilding of your new au?
Why of course!
To start this off though, let me tell you a fun little thing about the Blog AU that is built in!
We made this AU with the idea that people who read it can put their characters into it. You know the Cafe AU that everyone is sticking their OCs in? You can do something similar! The fic is going to be canon to y'all but y'all won't be 100% canon to the fic so you guys can interact with the canon! So we genuinely encourage you guys to make outside content and make your OCs blogs or designs for this. Go crazy with it and join in! I will eventually need usernames and a few other things for the blog/forum skins. If you make anything, make sure to tag me on here (and if it's on Instagram, I'm Lixxendraws). I want you guys to be able to draw/write your characters in this AU because it'd be such a fun thing to do!
Anyways.
There are a few doodles of their official outfit designs but I don't like how they look. But I will post them eventually!
Here is the world building Under The Cut
Branch's Kismet identity is Bass while his in person one is Lapis for the sake of his safety and privacy.
Technology:
Napbug: digital audio sharing website whereP3 files are shared. Mostly for music rips and downloads
TOL: the internet hosting. Mostly known for the chatroom they speak on. You need to know the person's connection code to directly connect to them. You can chat on it and view forums/blogs directly from their TOL. You can have up to four identifications per computer
PHP (personal homepage): the blog domains they use. They can be reached outside of TOL, along with personal forums
Trollums: the nicknames for forums. You can find people's TOL & PHP on trollums and it is how people mostly find blogs
BeeperBugs (beepers): little hugs that act like pagers. They will send and receive messages somehow (they never figures it out). You will hear them beep and they can carry codes; you can put them onto landlines and they will put in the numbers. They also can use Morse code to send messages instead of needing calls.
Computers: dial up computers. They are simple and can connect to CD drives (not built in), VHS players, floppy disks, cassettes, and can burn CDs/DVDs. They're big and chunky; no laptops. Internet cafes and libraries are popular due to not as many people having them. People learn coding to break and customize them
Cassettes and MP3 players: they are popular and do not have earbuds. Only over ear headphones that are wired.
Very basic printer/fax machines that run off landlines
Televisions: tube/box TVs. Podbuster is a popular VHS and DVD rental/store. DVDs are barely used due to being new
Film cameras are very much still used and popular. People will develop themselves or take them to the library to be digitalized. There's services to develop photos still
Zines exist! They will be produced by a group of fans and sent out. They will trade items or find ways to collect money to pay for them. You will find forums dedicated to zines and posting zines months after print release. There is big fan culture
Blogs are every big. Normally personal blogs will interact with each other and have fun; but then there's fan blogs. They only post about their interests and will post some personal stuff. They're almost always anonymous unless you directly know them.
Blog lore:
PinkBandLyfe is a popular BroZone and Kismet blog that always has the best images, videos, and MP3s. They've nicknamed the blog owner Pinkie and know her bias is Clay, but since she is around Bitty B’s age, she has a soft spot for him. Bass in Kismet is her bias. But since Bass is a private person she promotes healthy boundaries and privacy. She preaches for Bitty B and Bass’s privacy. She's speculated a few times but that's it. Everyone gives her her privacy and keep her identity secret since she is big on that and they respect her (and fear her disappearing). Her blog is chaotic but well organized and out together!
BatterBug is a survival/doomsday blog that people learn survival skills from and it talks about literally everything and anything about tragedy and skills to use in them. They call the owner BB and call him paranoid. But it's useful so he has a following
ReverbFan27 is a Bad Hair Day blog that isn't as in-depth as PinkBandLyfe. The blog is run by the user who has been nicknamed 27. He tends to be more practical and people enjoy watching him ramble about the technical aspects of the performances. They know his older brother, who is nicknames Ef, was into them first and got 27 into it. They only know that, he is a Billy Reverb bias, and he is the youngest child. The rest is a secret. They speculate who he is because sometimes he has the best pictures of BHD. But they haven't figured it out yet. He's VERY organized
Everybody knows Pinkie and 27 are friends and they helped each other get popular. Sometimes you will see them give each other content to post! 27 somehow has never before seen BroZone stuff or will mention he has rare collectibles that Pinkie lives for
People ship Pinkie and 27. They laugh and brush it off
Misc story lore that isn't spoilers:
Bergens made peace 10 years earlier when Poppy accidentally ran into Bridget when she ran off angrily. She helped Bridget on her own and it creates positive political ties!
The kingdoms live how they are post Trolls World Tour due to (unspecified) events happening! It is noted to happen a generation ago with King Thrash and King Peppy taking thrones
The kingdoms now have bigger populations and are more spread out! They have multiple cities and towns. Neighboring troll tribes now touch, but you must put in effort to travel
Royals freely live amongst their people in society due to respect from the people. They're big on “humanizing” the royals. Royals are not big on public appearances outside of their kingdoms. The ambassadors are the only ones seen in the wild
Branch spends his free time reading/writing in the coffee shop or in a library. He normally has his headphones on with a Walktroll (walkman). He lives to write his blog posts by hand first, so he writes them in the coffee shop. He also carries around a camera to take pictures of things. He develops them himself in his pod and put them on the walls if they're good then in albums if they're okay or bad. He has a TON of childhood photos from Rosiepuff, who died a natural death before he joined Kismet. He uses her camera. He so takes a ton of pictures of Kismet and sends them to Pinkie!

JavaScript Frameworks
Step 1) Polyfill
Most JS frameworks started from a need to create polyfills. A Polyfill is a js script that add features to JavaScript that you expect to be standard across all web browsers. Before the modern era; browsers lacked standardization for many different features between HTML/JS/and CSS (and still do a bit if you're on the bleeding edge of the W3 standards)
Polyfill was how you ensured certain functions were available AND worked the same between browsers.
JQuery is an early Polyfill tool with a lot of extra features added that makes JS quicker and easier to type, and is still in use in most every website to date. This is the core standard of frameworks these days, but many are unhappy with it due to performance reasons AND because plain JS has incorporated many features that were once unique to JQuery.
JQuery still edges out, because of the very small amount of typing used to write a JQuery app vs plain JS; which saves on time and bandwidth for small-scale applications.
Many other frameworks even use JQuery as a base library.
Step 2) Encapsulated DOM
Storing data on an element Node starts becoming an issue when you're dealing with multiple elements simultaneously, and need to store data as close as possible to the DOMNode you just grabbed from your HTML, and probably don't want to have to search for it again.
Encapsulation allows you to store your data in an object right next to your element so they're not so far apart.
HTML added the "data-attributes" feature, but that's more of "loading off the hard drive instead of the Memory" situation, where it's convenient, but slow if you need to do it multiple times.
Encapsulation also allows for promise style coding, and functional coding. I forgot the exact terminology used, but it's where your scripting is designed around calling many different functions back-to-back instead of manipulating variables and doing loops manually.
Step 3) Optimization
Many frameworks do a lot of heavy lifting when it comes to caching frequently used DOM calls, among other data tools, DOM traversal, and provides standardization for commonly used programming patterns so that you don't have to learn a new one Everytime you join a new project. (you will still have to learn a new one if you join a new project.)
These optimizations are to reduce reflowing/redrawing the page, and to reduce the plain JS calls that are performance reductive. A lot of these optimatizations done, however, I would suspect should just be built into the core JS engine.
(Yes I know it's vanilla JS, I don't know why plain is synonymous with Vanilla, but it feels weird to use vanilla instead of plain.)
Step 4) Custom Element and component development
This was a tool to put XML tags or custom HTML tags on Page that used specific rules to create controls that weren't inherent to the HTML standard. It also helped linked multiple input and other data components together so that the data is centrally located and easy to send from page to page or page to server.
Step 5) Back-end development
This actually started with frameworks like PHP, ASP, JSP, and eventually resulted in Node.JS. these were ways to dynamically generate a webpage on the server in order to host it to the user. (I have not seen a truly dynamic webpage to this day, however, and I suspect a lot of the optimization work is actually being lost simply by programmers being over reliant on frameworks doing the work for them. I have made this mistake. That's how I know.)
The backend then becomes disjointed from front-end development because of the multitude of different languages, hence Node.JS. which creates a way to do server-side scripting in the same JavaScript that front-end developers were more familiar with.
React.JS and Angular 2.0 are more of back end frameworks used to generate dynamic web-page without relying on the User environment to perform secure transactions.
Step 6) use "Framework" as a catch-all while meaning none of these;
Polyfill isn't really needed as much anymore unless your target demographic is an impoverished nation using hack-ware and windows 95 PCs. (And even then, they could possible install Linux which can use modern lightweight browsers...)
Encapsulation is still needed, as well as libraries that perform commonly used calculations and tasks, I would argue that libraries aren't going anywhere. I would also argue that some frameworks are just bloat ware.
One Framework I was researching ( I won't name names here) was simply a remapping of commands from a Canvas Context to an encapsulated element, and nothing more. There was literally more comments than code. And by more comments, I mean several pages of documentation per 3 lines of code.
Custom Components go hand in hand with encapsulation, but I suspect that there's a bit more than is necessary with these pieces of frameworks, especially on the front end. Tho... If it saves a lot of repetition, who am I to complain?
Back-end development is where things get hairy, everything communicates through HTTP and on the front end the AJAX interface. On the back end? There's two ways data is given, either through a non-html returning web call, *or* through functions that do a lot of heavy lifting for you already.
Which obfuscates how the data is used.
But I haven't really found a bad use of either method. But again; I suspect many things about performance impacts that I can't prove. Specifically because the tools in use are already widely accepted and used.
But since I'm a lightweight reductionist when it comes to coding. (Except when I'm not because use-cases exist) I can't help but think most every framework work, both front-end and Back-end suffers from a lot of bloat.
And that bloat makes it hard to select which framework would be the match for the project you're working on. And because of that; you could find yourself at the tail end of a development cycle realizing; You're going to have to maintain this as is, in the exact wrong solution that does not fit the scope of the project in anyway.
Well. That's what junior developers are for anyway...

478. 93 things about 1993, part 3

12. David Williams' $125,000 baby
Tumblr media
(source)
David couldn't make his plane to the game anyway due to the weather even if he tried:
While Debi was in labor, David was on the delivery room phone with coaches and team officials. Time was running out to catch that last flight and the conversation wasn't pretty.
"It was hard on her at the time ... She could hear them screaming over the phone at me,'' David said. "Finally the doctor just yanked the phone plug, took the phone off the wall and said 'We're not taking any more calls.' ''
Scot didn't arrive until almost 6:25 p.m. and, by then, it was too late for Williams to catch the 6:54 p.m. flight from either airport.
"Even if I had left the second after he was born, I still never would have made that plane,'' he said. "It was nerve-wracking for me. I'd never been through anything like that. It was tough.''
He said teammates Mike Munchak and Bruce Matthews tried to arrange a private plane through a third party, but when David left the hospital around 11:30 p.m., he hadn't heard back.
"I had been up with Deb since 4 o'clock that morning and going through that emotional roller coaster of getting screamed at and yelled at by coaches and general manager as I'm in the delivery room,'' he said. "My wife's giving birth and I'm getting screamed at. Man, it isn't supposed to feel like this.'' 1

15. New Yorker "kiss" cover
The artist of the cover was Art Spiegelman, the author/illustrator of the Maus series of graphic novels:
“This metaphoric embrace is my Valentine’s card to New York, a wish for the reconciliation of seemingly unbridgeable differences in the form of a symbolic kiss,” he wrote. “I’m also painfully aware that the calamities facing black communities in New York cannot be kissed away. But once a year, perhaps, it’s permissible, even if just for a moment, to close one’s eyes, see beyond the tragic complexities of modern life, and imagine that it might really be true that ‘all you need is love.’” 2

16. Bill Clinton was supposed to be in the Cheers finale?
I thought that this was some sort of rumor that was sent via faxes in offices, and then it branched into water cooler rumor, but NO. Bill really wanted to be in the finale of Cheers (which I bring up here). Unfortunately, when it came to shoot the finale in April, Bill couldn't make it due to Hillary's dad being in poor health, and an upcoming meeting with Boris Yeltsin. 3
I wonder why Bill didn't make a cameo during the last episode of Frasier to make up for it? I mean, he wasn't doing anything in 2004.

I got upset at group and now I have to do PHP
First of all thank. goodness it's not inpatient
but I'm afraid if I say no to php, they'll say "well then let's go get her and. force inpatient"
When I'm around people, I can tell they want me to die. When I'm with my mom, she's like a legitimate emotional support person... I can cope with the thoughts. I can talk and laugh and stop thinking for a moment that everyone who knows me, every stranger who sees me, practically the whole world has me on their mind. I'm with her right now. I was with her when I posted here. I can be calm and use coping skills, I can watch movies, I can do coloring... When I'm. alone. all I can think is "they want me dead the want me dead they want me dead..."
my friends are waiting by the phone. hoping to get an unfortunate call that I've killed myself. And they'll be happy when I do. They're just laughing at me.
I lost it a bit when I went t group therapy. I could barely talk I was crying and hyperventilating. My therapist talked to me but *apparently* she had to tell others there and the people "above her" are insisting I do a partial hospitalization program. The way she broke the news to me sounded so intense I thought she was going to tell me they want me to go to the hospital. Fortunately, that's not the case. When I'm calm, I'm calm. When I'm with my mom, I'm ok. When I'm distracted I'm not focused on everyone wanting me to kill myself.
I can't convince myself it's not true, especially when I'm in the thick of it. No one can tell me they're not thinking about me. No one can tell me they don't know my name. they're lying. if any of you say it I guarantee you're lying to me too.
The point is... I know I'm diagnosed with sza. That's the only reason I'm. posting. I'm comfortable here. I can't stop these thoughts. I can't. I'm not delusional. I may not even have this disorder. My doctor is telling me I'm having symptoms just because she's taken pity on me for. crying so. much and wants me to have a reason to *not* believe this is all true.
I'm so frustrated. I don't want to spend all day away from home. I just want to be with my mom. why can't they just leave me alone??

Boracay often locally shortened to bora, is a resort island in the western Visayas region of the Philippines. Boracay island is located 0.8 kilometers off the northwest coast of Panay, with a population of 37,802 in the year of 2020 Boracay was originally inhabited by the Tumandok and Ati people. Boracay is famous for being one of the world's top destinations for relaxation aside of its boasting white sand beaches. Before the Spanish colonization of the Philippines in the 16th century, Boracay was populated by the Ati and Tomandok people. It was known as Buracay, Buracay had a population of one hundred people before the Spanish colonization, they cultivated rice on the island and augmented their income by raising goats. Boracay was previously part of the province of Capiz it was under the jurisdiction of the town of Buruanga until the municipality of Malay was established on June 17, 1949, the Municipality as well as the island became part of Aklan, which became an independent province on April 25, 1956. Negrito people also called the Ati people, spoke the Philippine language called Inati.
Boracay transportation is via motor tricycles and electric tricycles or e-trikes along the main road. Pedicabs also known as sikads in Boracay are also available along the beachfront Path. Other transportation includes mounting bikes, quad bikes, and motorbikes, all of which can be rented as of 2018, the municipal government of Malay was encouraging motorcycle operators to transition to e-trikes in their coordinated efforts to promote environment-friendly public transportation. Here are the Do's and Don'ts in Boracay island, first do your research, second bring enough cash with you, and third mind the environment. And their don'ts are, don't drink tap water, don't smoke or drink alcohol near the beach, and lastly don't leave your things unattended. These are some of their Do's and Don'ts for you to remember. If you're talking about the weather, in Boracay there are two seasonal weather patterns known locally as the Amihan and Habagat seasons. The Amihan season is characterized by moderate temperatures and the Habagat season, is characterized by hot and humid weather, frequently heavy rain. Boracay will be in the Amihan weather pattern from sometime in October to sometime in March and the Habagat weather pattern for the remainder of the year.
The expenses of Boracay Island are not that expensive if you are traveling as a family of three or four people, the price person often goes down because kids' tickets are cheaper and hotel rooms can longer be shared. The average hotel price in Boracay for a couple is Php 44,101, a vacation for one week usually costs around Php 22,051 for one person. But first, you should have booked your accommodation before your trip, because Boracay has a "no booking, no entry". Boracay offers a variety of budget-friendly restaurants. Eating local restaurants on the island will cost you around Php 150 to 200 a meal, instead of visiting 5-star restaurants why not take advantage of eating at D Talipapa for fresh seafood at reasonable prices? There are a lot of activities to try when you are in Boracay you could even try parasailing, banana boat riding, and helmet diving activities for only Php 2,000. But if island hopping is at the top of your list you can try an island tour with another guest for only Php 600-800, when shopping for souvenirs D'Mall is the place to visit. Boracay is one of the best places on Earth to visit without going bankrupt. Experiencing the way you imagine a paradise with beautiful sunsets, sand, and the beach is worth every peso you spend.
Top 7 famous delicacies in Boracay Aklan, first is Binakol, which is an Aklan dish made of chicken that is stemmed with some of its delicious juice cooked over flaming charcoal inside a bamboo container. Second is Inuburan, a chicken dish cooked with coconut milk and pieces of banana pith. Third is Tinu-om, a common Aklan dish called Tinu-om consists of sliced native chicken that has been layered with chopped garlic, ginger, white onions, lemon grass, and tomatoes. The remaining ingredients are tightly wrapped in banana leaves. Next is Linapay the aklanon version of "laing" Linapay consists of small shrimps that have been pounded and are cooked in coconut milk with tender "bat wan" fruit, garlic, onion, gender, and chilies. Also part of the 7 famous delicacies is Inday Inday, Inday Inday is similar to the patilaw, this dessert is made with sticky rice flour(malagkit) cooked in hot water and topped with bukayo, which is gelatinous coconut meat simmered in water with muscovado sugar and coconut milk. Also, Latik is one of the famous delicacies, it is a must-try food in Boracay. And lastly Eangkuga, Eangkuga despite its peculiar name is similar to ginataang bilo-bilo. This delicacy is made of bilo-bilo (glutinous rice balls) banana pieces of camote and shredded young coconut meat, it is cooked in coconut milk and muscovado sugar.
Boracay activities in new year's a celebration by the sea where there are sand castle  competitions. Ati-atihan fiesta the celebration of the catholic region of the Philippines is celebrated every  do's of January. Different groups and put paint on their faces and wear different designs of costumes.
