#Why Mom Deserves a Diamond

Rant time, but like, people who complain about the diamonds in Steven Universe getting "redeemed" and "facing no consequences" like, why did you ever think the diamonds getting destroyed was on the table as an option? Why did everyone think the show was going to end with Steven fighting and killing the diamonds, or the universe dolling out some Hayes Code Karma Violence like a giant rock falling on them at the last second? Like I guess I understand the criticism in theory that Steven Universe's metaphor for the diamonds as toxic family members falls apart when you consider they're crimes as space monarchs doing a colonialism, but Steven isn't The Avatar. At no point in the show does he even have the power to doll out the punishment you guys want.
Steven *does* try to fight the diamonds, and he gets his ass kicked. He gets smashed under his own shield and knocked out. His mom forms an entire army to fight them and LOSES and has almost all of her friends corrupted by them. The Diamonds are bigger, badder and stronger than The Crystal Gems (kind of like how adults are bigger and stronger than children.) So instead, he reveals his identity as Pink and the Diamonds immediately stop trying to kill him and the show instead pivots to be about political diplomacy. He doesn't like the diamonds, by the time Future rolls around we find out that he hates them and has private thoughts about killing them even now that that they don't pose any threat. But during the show he's powerless and so instead, talking to them and trying to change their mind is just a practical option because fighting hasn't worked. Because in the real world, there are times you will be outmatched and violence won't be the answer—even if the people hurting you probably do deserve violence.
And the diamonds aren't "redeemed," they just change their mind. They just decide that they want to keep Pink in their lives, so they begin to take accountability and undo the damage that they caused with their war, and presumably will spend the next thousands of years of their lives dismantling their own empire. And again, Steven Universe Future discusses the discomfort and the downside of this approach, that even if it's better and harm is actively being undone, the diamonds can't resolve all the harm they've done and Steven largely doesn't feel like he's gotten justice for what they did to him and his mother—much less the universe. So I don't get where anyone gets off saying this story is irresponsible or saying you should just forgive bad people. I don't see that anywhere in the story. The theme of Universe has always been the necessity of change, and so it makes sense that the villains aren't forgiven or revealed to be good people—but that they just change.

Wicked Fantasies Part 8 (MBJ x OC)
Tumblr media
A/N: This gif has nothing to do with anything other than I thought it was hot as fuck... and baby boy gets a little... rough and ruthless this chapter (in a good way LOL) Enjoy!
***
Michael’s hand lazily grazed the length of Raven’s spine as they laid in bed, limbs tangled and sheets disheveled from their wild night together. It was their first night back since their trip and jet lag spurred Michael to finally introduced ropes into their play and fuck, Raven had been in heaven. Of course, now her body was sore and aching from hanging from his set up and the only plans she had the next day were to sleep. But it was worth every ache and pain she felt and she would gladly sign up for it over and over and over again.
“You ever think about marriage… kids?” Michael asked, knowing the question was random but it had been on his mind since before it was appropriate to envision that life with her. And with whatever Tasha had planned barreling down on him, something in him yearned to know that she saw a future with him, that she wanted a future with him.
“Yea. I mean I didn’t think it would happen for me. I think about marriage a lot. Kids are… tough,” she muttered, her nails grazing against his skin, so lightly it made him feel almost ticklish.
“You’re afraid of not being there for them?”
Raven shifted uncomfortably on his chest. She rested her head against his heart, the soft thumps of his heartbeat soothing to the anxiety coursing through her. She had thought about all of these things with Michael but it was still impossible to believe she truly deserved them, that he truly wanted them with her. And she hated how easily he saw through her, saw her deepest fears and insecurities as if she had just spelled them out for him.
“Yea, I guess… I wouldn't wish my life on any kid and there’s a lot of all this we have no control over. How much time… when yours is up. It’s always been hard to think about the future though… plan for it. I’ve just always felt like I was being chased and assumed that one day it would catch up to me? This is the first time in my life I don’t feel that… since I met you. So now I suppose I should think about the future.” She paused. “I think I’d like it… not sure how good I’d be at it. Being a mother. Your mom is the closest example I have of a good one. But the chance to build my own family? One with all the things I never had, all the things a child deserves? Yea, it would be nice.”
“What do you think about building that family… with me?”
Raven perked up, shocked to hear those words come out of his mouth. She did not know why but she had not considered the conversation taking this turn for some reason. The idea of him wanting to marry her was about as foolish as wishing diamonds to cascade from the sky like rain. It just was not realistic.
“In my wildest fantasies. But…” her voice trailed off.
“What?”
“I love you… adore you. But I guess there’s still a piece of me that doesn’t believe this is real. That believes you’ll wake up one day and remember that I was the girl you paid to have sex with you. You know… can’t turn a whore into a housewife. And you wouldn’t be wrong, I’m not exactly wifey material. And hell, I’m probably the last person you should want raising your kids. Not a role model, nothing to aspire to. My life is a mess.”
Michael knew a few months would not undo years of self deprecation but it felt like a physical wound to hear her count herself out like this. How could she not see how perfect she was? How amazing she was?
“You shouldn’t talk about yourself like that, baby. And should give yourself more credit. You are one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, you’re a survivor, hardworking, gentle, nurturing. That’s everything I want in a wife… and a mother for my children. You’re so much more than whatever your dad or idiot sister convinced you were. You’re everythin’.”
“You don’t mean that,” she whispered, turning away her head to face the opposite wall. She could not let herself believe that. They had not been together long and Raven was still waiting for the honeymoon phase to end and the other shoe to drop. She knew he would walk up one day and realize he could not build anything real with her. He would hurt her and disappoint her just like every other person in her life. She desperately desired to be wrong but she also refused to let herself have too much hope. Because of all the things and people she survived in her life, Michael was the one thing she knew had the power to actually destroy her.
He pulled her deeper into his chest and kissed her forehead tenderly. “Aint ever told you shit I didn’t mean, baby girl. And I get why you don’t believe it or trust it. But I’ll do whatever it takes to prove it to you. I’m here for the long haul, we’re gonna build that life together, I promise.”
Her response felt lodged in her throat, too painful to release into the space. She tried to get them out but saying them out loud would make them too real. So she just pressed her lips into his chest before turning over and closing her eyes. She knew she did not need to say anything for Michael to know how she felt. He always knew.
As he watched her attempt to sleep, Michael thought about his meeting the next day with Alex. He had spent his entire trip and tonight so wrapped up in his girl that he almost forgot Tasha was threatening to destroy their bubble. He had to figure out what to do because he saw that future with Raven as clear as day and no one and nothing would stand in his way.
***
“I can’t believe you,” Alex muttered to herself as she paced around her office. “You know… one day, I would just love it if you summoned me or came down here with good news. You saved a fuckin’ family of puppies from a would-be murderer, helped an old lady cross the road, saved someone from a burning building… solved fuckin’ world hunger and told someone. But nooooooooo. It’s never that. It’s always some problem because you literally can’t keep your fuckin’ dick to yourself. Have you ever heard of masturbation?? O-Or a fuckin’ fleshlight??”
Michael groaned as she ranted about his recklessness and foolishness.
“So you gon’ keep yellin’ at me or tell me how to fix this?”
Alex scoffed. “Fixing the fact that you got involved with, not one, but TWO prostitutes, proceeded to fall in love with one of them like this is some nigga’s version of Pretty Woman, causing the other prostitute to get so jealous, she is extorting you for money is so far above my pay grade, it isn’t even funny.”
“The amount I pay you?? Ain’t shit above your pay grade,” Michael muttered under his breath. “Look, I don’t know why you’re mad at me! I’m the victim here. Blackmail is a crime!”
Alex could not keep the shrill laughter that bubbled to her lips from spilling over. “Oh fuck off. ‘I’m the victim,’” she mimicked with a vicious glare. “You're not the victim. You’re the fuckin’ unserious superstar idiot I’ve saddled my entire career to. But you sure as fuck aren’t the victim. The only victim here will be Raven. And me when I die prematurely from dealing with your bullshit. But mainly Raven when this girl tells the entire world she made her living getting paid for sex. They’ll rip her to shreds. You wouldn’t understand it because you’re a man and your privilege insulates you. You’ll be a punchline on late night tv for a few weeks and move on but she won’t come back from this. The world won’t let her come back from it.”
“Didn’t come for a feminism 101 lecture, Alex. I know this fucks her over more than me. How do we fix it??”
Alex threw her hands up in the air. “Fuck if I know? This is why I don’t like PR relationships, Michael. It always falls apart eventually, secrets don’t last in our world. To be honest, if it’s gonna come out anyway, I'd just admit the truth about how you met before Tasha could. You could own the narrative that way at least. But Raven isn’t going to agree to that, no woman in her shoes would.”
“So aside from giving her more money, how can I stop this?”
“Wait more money? You already gave her some?”
Michael shrugged. “Yea like $10k. Why?”
Alex shook her head. “Well she’s not gonna stop at $10k. Honestly, that’s light work for how much I would’ve demanded. Now we’re dealin’ with a fucking stupid extortionist too.” She threw her hands up in the air in exasperation. “Eventually, it won’t be money she wants, Mike. She wants you and if you don’t want her, then I don’t know how to fix this.” she paused. “What did Raven say about all this?”
Michael grimaced. “I… haven’t told her.”
Alex’s eyes grew wide. “Annndd that’s why you schlepped your stupid ass all the way down here instead of having me come to you. You can’t keep this from her. It’s her name and reputation that’ll get dragged to hell and back if Tamara or whatever this fuckin girl’s name is, decides to skip her happy criminal ass to Page 6. You have to tell her, Michael, and let her know that you’re still in contact with this woman. I can sell water to fish in the goddamn ocean, I can spin anything out there. But I won’t be able to mend your relationship if she gets upset that you lied. Tell her and get ahead of this.”
“I need a plan first. Raven is the strongest person I know, don’t get me wrong. But she’s been through too much shit for me to dump a problem I created on her doorstep. No one… no one in her life protects her. Protects her feelings and body and…” he ran his hand over his face. “I tried countless times since we got back but she’s finally happy, Alex. Finally has some peace. Is it that wrong for me to just pay Tasha and keep it movin’? Raven never even needs to know.”
“It’s not wrong… the instinct isn’t wrong but it’s not right either when that peace is fiction. It’s not real, Michael. She deserves to know something that affects her life as much, frankly more than yours. Your reputation will recover, it always does. I’m not sure hers will. And maybe she would… make a different choice about your relationship if she knew that.”
“You want her to leave me?”
Alex raised her hands in surrender at his sharp tone. “No. I don’t want her to leave you. I actually really like her, certainly more than the other idiot instagram girls you paraded around here as your girlfriends. She did what I thought nothing could… she turned you into a serious person. But… maybe you two do need a break until this Tasha person is willing to let you go. She might decide that protecting her name, her peace… her ability to move through life without a modern scarlet A on her chest is more important than whatever feelings, however strong, she has for you. And you… your directorial debut is out in March. We’re about to start a press run in a month. Award season starts next Sunday, for which you are a highly anticipated nominee. Any scandal detracts from the biggest moment of your career. Look, I’m not telling you to do anything. But I am saying, it’s the only path I see that doesn’t destroy you both. And if you love her as much as you say you do, you’d take the short term hit to save her. Or at least present it as an option.”
Michael heard everything she said and in his heart, he knew she was right. But what she was asking? His heart and soul would not allow him to do it.
“I can’t lose her, Alex. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I won’t lose her. I know Tash… she’s all bark, no bite. I give her some attention and throw some cash her way and this’ll all blow over.”
Alex sized him up for a few moments before shrugging. “Well I hope for Raven’s sake, and mine, you know what you’re doing.”
“I know what I’m doin’, Alex. I promise.” Michael knocked his knuckles against her desk before standing up to leave.
“Are you really that good at sex?” she mused, glancing at him up and down as if she was trying to imagine it for herself. “I just can’t imagine anyone, especially a man, is good enough in bed to warrant all this.”
“I know it ain’t your cup of tea,” he offered with a wink. “But what can I say? I’m blessed with hella talents.”
Alex rolled her eyes. “Alright, well get your hella talented ass outta my office.” However, before he left, she called out. “Oh! The Golden Globes… need to know if you’re taking Raven so they can finalize the sitting chart.”
Michael rolled his eyes. His least favorite part about his job: award season. An unbearable time of year made worse by the fact that he was nominated at every single one save the Tonys this year. He did not have the energy or desire to sit for hours on end, starving and be forced to smile and wave and pretend to be happy if he lost. But he knew the unbearable practice would be made a bit more bearable if Raven was by his side while he did it.
“Shit. All this shit goin’ on since New Years, forgot to ask her. Tell them she’s goin’. I just gotta get them to pull her a dress and shit. Thanks for the reminder.”
And with that, he started to walk out. As he reached his car, he pulled out his phone and texted Tasha to meet him at the St. Regis tomorrow night at 10. He was going to end this as soon as possible.
***
Michael paced the length of his hotel room, wearing a hole in the carpet as he went.
“This is a bad idea,” he mumbled to himself a couple of times. But this was the least of about 100 bad ideas in his mind and it was the only bad idea that protected his girlfriend’s peace. He knew Alex was right and it was wrong but he was determined to keep Raven as far from this situation as possible.
However, even he had to admit to himself that his reasoning was not just to protect her peace. He also did not want to admit that he had still had conversations with Tasha before they were official, that he had made promises to her and then broke them. Raven was one of the few people on this planet who saw him as a good person and he refused to ruin that image. Protecting Raven and, selfishly, how she looked at him was all that mattered to him. What people said about him in the media and on Twitter did not.
A soft knock on his door jolted him out of his thoughts and his limbs to move. He felt uncomfortable even meeting Tasha here but she had demanded their first meeting be in person. So here he was.
When he opened the door, Tasha leaned against the door frame with a triumphant smirk painted on her face. A year ago, he would have pulled her inside and tore her clothes off with lightning speed. But today? He had never been less attracted to someone in his life, less enthused to see someone.
“Hey baby.”
Her arms snaked around his broad shoulders as she leaned in for a kiss. A kiss that Michael artfully and skillfully dodged. He twisted out of her embrace and pulled her into his hotel room, sparing a quick glance down the long hotel hallway to ensure no prying eyes lurked before slamming the door shut.
“You don’t seem happy to see me, baby.”
Michael could hear the teasing in her voice, could tell she enjoyed whatever power trip she currently had over him.
“Why would I be happy to see someone blackmailin’ and threatenin’ me?” he mumbled just loud enough for her to hear him.
“Forcing you to follow through with the promises you made to me is hardly blackmail.” She sat down on the edge of the expansive bed and leaned back slightly on her hands.
Michael had hoped to keep this “meeting” as brief as possible. He did not want to be in a room with her for any longer than he needed to. He walked over to the bed and grabbed two envelopes he had sat on the bedside table. He tossed the thicker one, filled with cash, at her before walking across the room and leaning on the desk to watch her.
“Another $10k at your request. Now, tell me a number.”
“A number for what?” she asked innocently.
“A number big enough to get you to sign this,” he tossed another envelope at her. “Standard NDA and an agreement not to contact me or Raven again.”
Tasha let out a low humorless chuckle. “All this… for that basic nobody. You never did a fraction of this shit for me…” she mused as she unfolded the papers and read them silently.
Michael scoffed. “I did everything we agreed to. Flew you out, bought you more shit than I could count. The only thing Raven got that you didn’t was my heart and I’m not apologizin’ for that. What we had was business, Tash. And our business needs to end now. So what’s the number?”
Tasha stared at him for a few minutes before discarding them on the bed. “Fine. I’ll deal. $50k and one more night. The two of us. And I’ll sign them. That’s the price.”
“Not happenin’, name a number.”
Tasha merely shrugged. “Nope. You want me out of your life? That’s the price. Both things.”
“Why? Let’s cut the bullshit, Tash. You don’t love me, you don’t want me. You want my money. So name a higher number.”
“You’re absolutely right. I don’t love you… I’m not Raven, an idiot who falls for the first client I get. I love your money and the comfort it provides. But one thing I don’t like is disrespect. You dropped me out in the cold with no warning like two years of fucking you meant nothing. Like I meant nothing. So yea, maybe months ago, it would’ve just been about the money. But now, it’s about so much more than that.”
“So what? You blackmail me into fuckin’ you one more time and it proves what?”
Tasha laughed. “Doesn’t prove anything except that you ain’t shit, which I already knew. I don’t need proof of anything. See you and Raven were built on a lie and honestly, watching the two of you fall the fuck apart will bring me far more joy than a couple extra bucks. Fuck me and the guilt will eat that good boy you bury deep inside alive. Eventually, you’ll crack and Raven’ll find out. Or I dunno, maybe I’ll tell her. Either way, I could smell the insecurities on that girl from a mile away. She’ll never forgive you and your relationship falls apart. Don’t fuck me and I tell the world you did anyway and that she was a prostitute. And then your relationship definitely falls apart when her life gets ruined. Either way, I get cash, you end up alone and Raven learns what so many girls before also learned the hard way: don’t fuck with what’s mine. I was thinking of calling TMZ the week of the Oscars? That’ll sure spice up the biggest week of your career. Or maybe right before the Creed III premiere… any preference?” At his silence, she merely shrugged. “Well, just let me know. Feel free to keep booking this room for us until you decide. I always liked this view.”
As Michael watched her, he quickly realized how he wholly underestimated her in every possible way. This was not a woman who was willing to let him go. Ever. And both of his “choices” were specifically designed to hurt Raven. There was no scenario where she came out of it unscathed. And it was really all his fault. Had he simply cut Tasha off at the onset or been smarter about how he handled her, they would not be in this mess.
Michael stood and walked toward the door.
“I’ll call you to book our time next week. Maybe you’ll change your mind. Or maybe I’ll change my mind and call TMZ before then,” she called after him as Michael slammed the door behind them.
As he stood in the barren hotel hallway, he resisted the urge to punch a hole in the wall before his security whisked him away to the service elevator to take him outside to his car. He was thankful Alex had been willing to book the hotel under her name and credit card. He would not have considered it originally but after that conversation, he would not have put it past Tasha to add the hotel receipt to her arsenal of blackmail.
He slammed the door of his jeep with such force even Allen jumped slightly at the sound.
“My bad,” he mumbled as he slouched back into his seat. He could not remember the last time something had frustrated him to this degree. He was fucked. They were fucked. Tasha had him by the balls and he knew there was no move that would get him out of this mess without throwing Raven under the bus.
He refused to cheat on Raven. Not just because he knew it would just give Tasha another thing to hold over him but because that was simply not him. He played the role of the bad boy, terrible guy but the one line he had never crossed with a girlfriend in his life was to cheat on her. He knew that pain intimately and he vowed to never inflict it on someone else. He had never even been tempted to cheat. And Raven would certainly not be the woman he broke that vow on.
And because he knew he would never sleep with Tasha or any woman who was not Raven again, there was no end to this in sight. He would just have to sit and wait for her to lob a grenade and blow up his girlfriend’s life. And that made him feel like more of a failure than any flopped movie or failed deal ever had. He was supposed to be the one person in her life that protected her and he had failed her, just like everyone else.
“Bad night, Mr. Jordan?” Allen called from the front seat.
“Somethin’ like that.” He sighed. “Fucked up and not sure it’s fixable.”
Allen glanced back in the rearview mirror and nodded. “Is it not fixable or do you just not like the consequences of fixing it?”
Michael bowed his head. He adored Allen but lately, he hated him and his meddling, correct but unsolicited advice. However, he would never say that to him.
“Mixture of both. Really just no way to fix it that doesn’t hurt someone I love.”
“Raven?”
“That transparent, huh?”
Allen smiled to himself. “You always were, sir. If all the answers hurt her, then you have to decide which path causes the least harm to her. And then you just hope she forgives you when it’s over. That’s all you can do. Or you find another path that doesn’t.”
Michael’s head thudded against his seat’s headrest. He knew Allen was right, just as Alex had been. There was no fixing this situation, no silver bullet that would solve all of their problems and save Raven’s reputation in the process. All roads led to the same destination: the world finding out he and Raven lied. But there was one path that bypassed Tasha, put more of the media focus on him and his terrible decisions, and allowed him to control the when, where, and how of it all. And it did not hurt that this particular path would also allow him to hold Tasha accountable for all her shit in the process.
“Thanks, Allen.”
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and found Alex’s number. It was late but she was, thankfully, just as much of a night owl as he was.
“Finish your date with your favorite extortionist?” Alex joked as she picked up the phone. He could hear her munching on something as she spoke, likely popcorn.
“You always got jokes. Listen… I think you were right earlier. Let’s control the narrative.”
He could hear her shifting around as if she were sitting up at his words. “Ok, I’m intrigued. Raven? You gonna ask her what she thinks?”
He shook his head. “Nah. If we do it right, she never needs to know.”
***
It was after midnight by the time Michael arrived back home. However, he and Alex had worked out a foolproof plan during the drive. A plan they felt would allow Michael to take the biggest hit while Raven’s name would be a mere footnote by any reporter who doesn’t want to be accused of misogyny. It did all hinge on Tasha dragging out her games for longer than a week. But Michael had a feeling she would. She clearly enjoyed watching him squirm. They’d get past the Golden Globes and then he would seek help from someone whose only motivation in this world was money, someone who - for the right price - would do exactly what he asked.
He said a quick goodnight to Allen before running up the stairs to his master bedroom. He was surprised to find Raven curled up on his side of the bed, her face buried in his pillow. Her preferred sleeping position was literally on top of him and he knew, when he wasn’t home, this was the best she could get.
He laughed lightly at her kindle which was half hanging out of her hand, the young woman clearly having fallen asleep reading. She had not even put her scarf on the giant pineapple of curls on her head or taken off her reading glasses, which told him she had tried her hardest to stay awake till he got home. He watched her, like a creep admittedly, for several minutes before he moved.
He had never felt love like this a day in his life. He had always accepted that he would never find it, never find someone who could and would love him unconditionally. But she did, she loved him even though he was not sure he deserved it. And everytime she looked at him, touched him, curled into his side to sleep, he felt the depths of it in his very being. Their love was pure and he refused to let anyone taint it.
He moved as quietly as possible to the bed and took the kindle out of her hand and slid her glasses off. Thankfully, she slept like a rock. However, she only stirred as he tried to gently tie her scarf around her edges to protect her hair. She stretched and let out a deep but insanely cute yawn as she blinked a few times.
“H-Hey babe. S-sorry, I tried to wait for you.”
Michael leaned forward and kissed her on the forehead. “Don’t apologize. I didn’t mean to wake you. Just knew you’d be pissed if you woke up with no scarf on.”
She chuckled. “You’re right about that. H-How was your dinner meeting?”
“Fine,” he waved his hand dismissively. He hated that he had lied to her but it was the only excuse he could think of that did not bring more questions. Raven was generally inquisitive but she tended to understand the often secret nature of some roles and Hollywood meetings so she did not often pry for information he did not offer up. “Might have a role for me but shit is still in flux. We’ll probably need to meet again to iron out some details.”
She nodded as she forced herself into a seated position. “I’ll never understand you Hollywood types. Who wants to have a dinner meeting at 10 pm?”
“Logistics are easier for later dinners. It’s a whole thing.” He rolled his shoulders a bit, the tension of the day making his entire body ache.
“You ok? You seem so tense, baby.”
He studied her for a moment, taking in the genuine care on her face. So few people looked at him like that, like a human with needs and feelings. They just saw him as a product to sell or an ATM to get their needs met. But not Raven, never Raven. Even when he was quite literally paying her to be there. She saw him for him. And in that moment, he realized how close he was to losing that, how at risk this precious peace they both had found was. And that terrified him. Losing her terrified him. And he knew that whatever path he chose, that was the risk. And that filled him with such an overwhelming sense of dread.
He rarely felt overwhelmed by his own feelings. But right then, he felt like he could not even think straight enough to answer that simple question. And he knew that simple question was his out, his chance to tell her the truth about what tension he was feeling and why.
So instead of speaking, he used his impeccable strength to pull her into his lap. Her fingers played in the coarse hair of his beard as he stared at her, concern filling her eyes as she took in the solemn and stressed look in his.
“Hey… baby… what’s wrong?”
“N-Nothin’. Nothin’,” he lied, his courage deflating like a popped balloon. As soon as the words left his mouth, his lips crashed into hers, stealing her breath right out of her mouth. He could not talk, could not have a conversation. He just needed to feel her, all of her.
He could not bring himself to do it, to ask her for her permission to do what he knew had to be done. All roads led to the same destination and this was the only one he could see that left them with the least amount of bruises. He did not have the heart to tell her that the only path forward for them was to destroy her reputation now or have Tasha do it later. He did not have the heart to tell her he failed her, that he could not protect her from this.
Raven could feel everything in that kiss, his own stress and tension and pain. She wondered if more had gone on tonight at his meeting than he was willing to let on. Typically, Michael was the emotional rock, holding her up and giving her space to fall apart. But tonight, she was reminded that sometimes the strong ones need that too.
She broke off their kiss to catch her breath before whispering, “Take what you need.”
Michael rested his forehead against hers. “You sure?”
“Consider me your stress ball,” she joked with a half smile. “Do your worst. I trust you.”
Trust you don’t deserve, a cold voice inside hurled at him.
Michael said nothing as he flipped Raven over onto her stomach. There was no love or sweetness in the way he handled her as he arranged her lethargic limbs in the position he desired, ass high and face pressed into his comforter. He did not give her any warning as he sheathed himself inside her with one thrust, Raven squealing at the sudden and rough intrusion.
“Fuckkkkkkkk,” she moaned as he bottomed out inside her. She did not understand how his size and girth still managed to leave her breathless.
“You always this wet for me, baby?”
“Y-Yes,” she whimpered as he gave her a brief moment to adjust to him.
“Yes what?” he demanded with a sharp and painful slap against her plump ass. “Yes daddy,” she amended quickly. She could already tell she would be bruised and sore by the time he was done with her. But she could not hope to care. Whatever he needed, she would gladly give.
They rarely did quickies, Michael enjoyed the warm up far too much to skip it. But tonight, he needed the adrenaline of rough, uninhibited fucking. He needed to hear her screams, the slaps of his hips against her ass. Needed to feel the soft skin of her hips beneath his hand as he rammed into her. He needed to let go of the stress of the last 48 hours with the woman he loved, let go of the feelings of objective failure he felt. He needed to get lost in her.
Raven was in pure bliss as Michael fucked her at a pace and intensity she had rarely seen from him. She could not even keep up with him to match his thrusts into her. All she could do was lay there and scream out as he took her.
“Shit, shit. J-just like that,” she moaned as his hands dug into her skin. Her fingers curled around the softness of his comforter as she used it to muffle the screams of her orgasm.
“Fuck, this pussy feels so good gripping my dick, baby. That’s right, cum for daddy.”
Her body instinctively shied away from the overwhelming feelings of pleasure and pain he provided, causing his grip to only grow tighter so she could not escape him, as if she would disappear right before his eyes if he loosened his grip on her at all.
“The fuck you runnin’ for?? You said do my worst right? So take this dick!” His voice was commanding as he spanked her, the sound reverberating around his bedroom.
“I-It’s too m-much,” she moaned out as she felt another orgasm start to build.
“You can take it. I know you can. Be a good girl for me.”
Hearing the words “good girl” on his lips were almost enough to make her orgasm right then on the spot.
Her upper body collapsed as another orgasm hit her like a train of endless ecstasy. Only Michael’s brute strength held her up as he chased his own release. Her body felt like putty in his hands, completely pliant and under his control.
“You gonna cum again for me, baby?” he demanded.
Raven felt as if he was fucking her into another dimension, was she even on Earth anymore? She could barely form thoughts let alone words to answer his questions. And as the silence stretched on and only her moans and squeals punctuated the sound of his thrusts, Michael knew she needed an incentive to remember the rules.
He wrapped his fist in her hair, which had unceremoniously fallen out of her scarf and pulled her up so her back was flush against his body. He wrapped his hand around her throat and squeezed lightly, loving how Raven’s eyes rolled back into her head and a long moan escaped her. He noticed the tear tracks on her cheeks and almost wondered if he was pushing her too far.
“Need me to stop?” he asked quietly, not slowing down his pace or movement as he asked.
Despite how overwhelmed and exhausted she felt, Raven could not comprehend the idea of him stopping. She had offered him this and she wanted it too. “D-don’t stop… p-please don’t stop.”
“Ok then. When daddy asks you somethin’, you fuckin’ answer!”
He let her body fall forward before he started spanking her with every ounce of strength he had. The pain radiated through her entire body but it was a delicious hurt, one she wished she could have all the time. Michael’s spankings were one of her favorite parts of their sex life. But now she knew that he was holding back some of his strength on her account. And she did not want that ever again. If this was him totally uninhibited and unrestrained, she would be his stress ball every day of the week.
She shook her head as tears slowly trekked down her face. “I-I c-can’t…”
Whether that was to convey that she could not speak or couldn’t come again, Michael did not know nor did not care. Until he heard a safeword cross her lips, he would drain them both of everything they collectively had.
“Yea, you can. Cause daddy demands it.”
His fingers found their way to her clit and roughly circled it, Raven’s entire body tensing as she reached her peak for the third time. He thanked the good lord he had had the forethought to soundproof his bedroom when he built this house years ago. That way he nor his parents had to be scarred for life. But even he wondered if her screams of pleasure would test the limits of that particular design feature.
However, they were the perfect symphony that pushed him right over the edge. He increased his pace, as if that were possible, hammering into her before he pressed her hips tightly against his form as he came inside her with a loud moan of his own. He collapsed next to her prone form for a moment as he tried to catch his breath.
He ran his hand through her hair, the young woman letting out a soft, appreciative whimper that acknowledged his touch and gentleness but let him know she was utterly spent.
He pushed himself out of bed and started a bath, adding some epsom salt to the water in hopes that would soothe whatever aches he caused. He returned to his bed and rubbed her back to get her attention.
“Bath,” he whispered, before he scooped her up into his arms as if she were a small child. He carried her into the bathroom and quickly redid her hair and scarf before settling her into the tub.
A moan slipped past her lips as the hot water surrounded her limbs. Michael positioned himself behind her, his arm pressed into her breasts to keep her flush to his chest.
“Was I too rough?”
Her heart warmed at the question. She would not have offered her body to him if she had not wanted rough but she appreciated that he still cared enough about her to check in, during and after.
“No, I love it when you get lost in it. But you’re sure you’re ok?”
“Yea… think the stress of the awards and the press tour next month are just getting to me. I’m good, babe.” A cop out but it was all he could offer.
Though it was difficult to get her limbs to move properly, she shifted so she could turn around and look at him. She chewed on her lip for a moment before saying, “You’d tell me if… something was wrong, right? Like you’re always there for me and my problems, listening and fixing. A-and well… I know I can’t like fix whatever it is or anything or probably even understand it. But I hope you know you can trust me with stuff. I just d-don’t want you to think you can’t… if you ever need to o-or - ”
Michael leaned forward and captured her lips, silencing the sweet ramblings his girl was known for.
“Yea I know, baby.”
He felt her entire body sort of deflate with relief before she settled back against his chest.
“Good. I’m glad.”
They sat in silence as Michael’s hands slowly and methodically massaged her body, starting at her shoulders and working their way down at a deliciously slow but tantalizing pace. He took his time, kneading each of her muscles until the ache she felt subsided. His hands were massaging her thighs, which was doing more to work her up than calm her down, when Michael
“Be my date on Sunday.” He kissed her on the neck.
“Sunday? What’s on Sunday?” she asked, not even opening her eyes as she enjoyed the work of the Lord Almighty he was doing on her thighs.
“The Globes.”
Raven immediately pushed off of his chest in shock. An award show? Those glittery and glamorous programs she had watched as a kid?
What’s my fucking life right now?? She asked herself as it hit her, for the first time, that things like this would be a regular occurrence now that she and Michael were serious. This was the big leagues and she was going to be standing right beside him.
“The Globes… as in THE Golden Globes?? You’re kidding right?”
He laughed at the look of utter shock on her face. “Yes, those Globes. And nah, why would I joke about that shit? I want the sexiest woman in the world on my arm when I win.”
Michael did not want to be ruled by fear of when Tasha would lob her grenade at them, if she even had the chance. They deserved to just have a fun and extravagant night out together. This would be the biggest night of his career and if their names were going to be thrown into a scandal either way, he could at least enjoy a night out with Raven before it does.
Raven shook her head, though her heart and childish brain screamed at her for doing so. Why was she pushing back? Every fiber of her being just wanted her to yell “YES, YES, YES!”
“B-But what about your parents?? Maybe you should take one of them o-or your siblings? I mean I’d love to go. Like seriously THE Golden Globes with like every entertainer I adore and love? But this is such a big moment in your career. Don’t you want to spend it with… I dunno, the people who’ve been there for the ride? I just got here,” she chuckled. “Don’t ask me out of some obligation. If there’s someone else you’d prefer, I won’t be offended. I didn’t expect an invite to all these anyway, you know? Figured you take family or your friends or someone more important to you… What if you look back and regret not taking one of them? You should -”
“Babe!” he cut her off, his palm cradling her cheek to keep her gaze on him.. “You said all that in one breath. Breathe for me, baby girl.” Raven appreciated that he could always see when she was spiraling and stop it. She forced air into her lungs before nodding for him to speak. “My family’s been to hella award shows, they’ve seen as many of them as a single person could ever want to. But even if they hadn’t, you’re the most important person to me right now. So I want to look out if I win and see you there. You are the most important person in my life.”
“You’re sure?”
“Wouldn’t have asked if I wasn’t, promise.”
“Then yes. I’d love to.” She turned fully and straddled his hips, kissing him deeply. Her hips instinctively grinded against him, a smile gracing her features as she felt his cock start to grow hard beneath him. She did not care that he fucked her into near oblivion a mere 10 minutes ago. Just him offering to take her to the biggest award show of his career to date filled her with such joy and happiness. And now, she had no interest in going to sleep. Now? She just needed more. More of him and his love, attention, and care.
“Not too sore, baby girl?” he asked as he pulled one of her nipples in between his lips and sucked gently before biting the swell of her breast, Raven’s head falling back with a small cry.
“Never… I need you,” she whispered in his ear as she sucked on the soft skin of his neck. “Please.”
“Get up here and ride daddy’s dick.”
Raven did not need to be told twice as she positioned herself over him and slid down.
“Enjoy it cause then it’s my turn again.” He winked at her with the most wicked glint in his eyes that let Raven know she would not sleep for hours.
***
“So how does it feel? Mr. Golden Globe winner??” Raven asked for the 100th time as she and Michael walked back into the condo. The condo was really only used now when they were at events super late. And staying out until 3 am meant neither of them were all too interested in making the trek back to his home.
Michael chuckled, “The same way it felt 10 minutes ago, Rae.”
She gave herself a playful facepalm. “I’m sorry, I’m being annoying. I’m just so excited for you! I mean tonight was amazing and magical and you were amazing and everyone was literally singing your praises. And I’m just…” she turned and wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders. “I’m really proud of you. No one deserves this moment more.”
“Thank you. It was even better with you by my side.”
Raven let out a childlike squeal as Michael picked her up in his arms, her after party dress bunched up in his hands. However, before she could tell him to be careful of the fabric, he merely smirked. “It’ll be on the floor in a minute. Don’t worry bout that shit.”
She merely rolled her eyes as he playfully tossed her onto his bed and launched himself on top of her. She let out a loud oof as his weight pushed her deeper into the bed and laughed.
She moaned as he kissed her before she had to stop him for a brief moment. As much as she loved being glammed up by his team, she could not deny that the full glam and fake lashes they put on her were not as comfortable almost 10 hours later.
“Let me hang up the dress and wash my face before you ravish me? These lashes are killing me and it’s gonna take me a few minutes to peel these spanx off.”
He seemed wholly uninterested in letting her do any of those things until the phone in his pants started to ring. He knew only one person who dared to call him this late. The disgruntled huff he pushed out made her cackle but he rolled off of her, allowing her to get up.
“Fine, I’ll allow it. But only cause Alex would only call this late if it was important.”
As he answered the phone, she disappeared into the guest room where all of her clothes were stored. She made quick work of stripping down to her panties and ensuring her dress was stowed properly in its garment bag. It had been a delicate yet gorgeous gown and she had not trusted Michael not to accidentally destroy it in his quest to get it off her. She knew he could afford to pay for it but she did not even want to know how much a Valentino dress would set him back.
She joyfully ripped the fake lashes on her eyes off before washing her face several times to get off all the makeup she had on. She looked stunning, as she always did when his glam team got a hold of her. But she also would rather do this tedious task now than in a few hours when Michael was done with her.
She thought about slipping into some lingerie as she pulled off her nipple covers. But she figured it would take more time than necessary to put any of it on and Michael would likely just rip it off her within seconds. So she made her way back to his room nearly naked with just her thong on.
However, when she returned, Michael’s mood was far more subdued than when she left. She raised an eyebrow as she straddled his hips, his hands barely touching her hips, a departure from his usual grip on her.
“Everything ok?”
“That was Alex. We… got a problem.”
“Ok?”
He rubbed her lower back as he spoke as if that would calm her for whatever was about to come out of his mouth. “She got a call from TMZ that they have a source… that told them about us. How we met and… that we lied to everyone about it. And they are gonna run it sometime tomorrow.”
Raven scratched her forehead, the joy she felt moments ago dissipating almost immediately.
This can’t be happening…
 “W-what?? B-But… N-No, no. She’s… I-is she sure?”
“Baby, calm down. It’s gonna be ok. Apparently, the angle he took was favorable to you? It doesn’t shame you or anything. It’s just honest about the circumstances of how we met.”
Raven felt as if her whole world had just come falling down around her as she leapt off his lap. “It’s favorable to me?? That’s a super small comfort w-when you just told me that the entire world is about to find out I was a prostitute, Michael! C-Cause no one’s gonna care that you were date number like 3 in a series of failed dates o-or that you were the first guy to even pay me for sex. They’re just gonna care that I did it. This reporter doesn’t need to shame me when the whole fucking world will.” She paced up and down beside his bed as she tried to will her panic to subside. “I-Is there anyway to stop it?? W-why is this even happening?? I mean it’s been months. Who would even care enough to c-come out and say something now??”
Michael stood and grabbed her by the arm, he pulled her into his embrace but he knew it would do little to soothe her. “It could’ve been anyone? Employee at the hotel, someone who works for Helen. Alex is trying to find out who and more about the story so we can figure out what to do. And this person probably realized that now, with award season and Creed, would be the most profitable time to release shit about me. I’m sorry, Rae. I should’ve seen this comin’. It’s my fault.”
The clear guilt in his voice cut through the haze of panic she felt and caused her to stop thinking about herself for a moment.
Fuck, how selfish are you? A story like this could potentially ruin his career and all she could think about was how it affected her. Michael could lose work and deals and prestige because of a story like this. What did she have to lose? A family that already hated her and she had  cut off? A reputation that, at least in the industry she was once in, was already tarnished?
“No, d-don’t apologize. I'm sorry. I’m over here freaking out and you’re the one with an actual career to lose. I just… I guess when it didn’t come out initially, I assumed it wouldn’t? A-and I just… freaked out. I’m sorry, I shouldn’t make it all about me.”
“It’s cool. And ok to be upset. I’m used to shit like this… you aren’t. Good thing is, shit like this stays in the news for a few days and then it passes. Alex and I’ll work on a plan tomorrow once it’s out and fix this shit. I promise.”
All Raven could make herself do was nod as she let her forehead fall onto his bare chest, a sudden wave of exhaustion hitting her. Even with Michael, there was always something. There was no true peace in her life, or least, none that lasted long enough for her to enjoy it.
An uncomfortable tightness grew in her chest as she realized what was barreling toward them both. And for the first time in a long time, Michael’s arms did not bring her the comfort she needed. In fact, they only added to her stress. She wanted to be with him but she also knew that her presence would be a distraction. He had to figure out the best response for his career without feeling the need to cater to her emotions and she wanted to break down and cry and scream without being worried he would feel guilty.
Which meant she could not be there with him when this story broke. She needed space and alone time to process this.
“Do you think Allen could take me home?” she whispered. “I n-need to be alone.”
“Rae, stay. We should talk about this.”
She could see the panic bloom in his eyes and it made her adjust her statement. “I’m not m-mad at you, baby.  You don’t have control over who talks to the media and when. I know you would stop it if you could. I just… knowing it’s coming out is a lot to process and I need to do that alone in my own space. And you need to be focused on your career, not me and my feelings. I’ll check in with you tomorrow but I d-don’t want to talk tonight. I just want to be alone.”
Michael pressed his lips to her forehead before walking over to his dresser and pulling out a pair of leggings and a sweatshirt that she had stored there. He helped her get dressed before calling Allen to come back to take her home. He knew she was not upset with him but he could not help but feel disheartened at how she retreated into herself. He could see all the emotions she felt painted on her face and that made him want to demand she stay so he could help her through it.
But he knew that was not fair. If she said she needed space, he had to respect that. The reason she was feeling this way was his fault anyway.
“You’re sure you’re gonna be ok? I can come with you?” He tried one last time when Allen texted that he was downstairs.
“Positive. Just need a couple hours to myself to get my head around everything. I’ll come to the house tomorrow evening after it's out and we can talk. Just give me a few hours, please.”
He nodded, silently acquiescing to her wishes, despite every piece of him wanting to protest.
Raven offered him a peck on the lips before heading down in the elevator, desperate to scream or yell or throw something across the room. She supposed she always knew there was a chance it could come out. After all, there were a handful of people that knew the truth. But she had just lulled herself into believing it wouldn’t, that their peace would be safe.
Her head felt like it was spinning when she finally laid down an hour later in her own bed. She had only taken the time to switch into one of Michael’s sweatshirts that she had commandeered from his house so she could curl up in his scent. She wrapped herself tightly in her blanket and let out a shuddering and shaky breath.
He’s gonna leave you. A voice finally said the fear that gripped her since he told her the news. She had not wanted to admit it but she knew it was coming. He was going to leave her.
How could he possibly stay? Why would he want to stay? His entire team would demand he cut ties with her. There was no other option. She knew it and he likely knew it too. His safest bet was likely to paint her as a woman who manipulated him or a gold digger after his money. She spent enough time on social media to know what the media and everyday people would say about her. They’d call her a slut and a whore, never mind that she was only doing what she had to do to survive. That would not matter to them. And then the dogpilling would begin. Some internet detective would find out she was also a stripper and this would give her sister the perfect chance to shame her like she always wanted to.
‘There are always other options than selling yourself’ they’d say. They’d question his manhood for even wanting to be with her in the first place. And it would not matter that prostitution was the oldest profession in civilization or that Michael was her first real customer. Her doing it with him would be enough for them to brand her with every terrible name women avoid being labeled.
She hastily wiped away the few tears that fell as she stared at her ceiling. These would be her last few moments of peace in her life and she realized that tonight was likely her last night with Michael. She felt her heart break at the idea. However, she would walk away, she realized. If that was what it took to save him and his career and this moment in his life, she would walk away from him. It would cut her deeper than any wound but she would do it for him if he asked.
And now, every second felt like a countdown to that moment. When she would arrive at his house tomorrow afternoon and be greeted with the cold slap of rejection. She would just have to prepare herself.
She reached into her nightstand and pulled out a bottle of old sleeping pills she used to use when she first lost her writing contract. She had struggled so much that her doctor prescribed them. It had been almost a year since she needed them but tonight was an exception. She just wanted to fall into the deep, dreamless sleep they provided so she would not have to sit awake and think about how everything in this world was designed to destroy her. She popped one in her mouth and snuggled up with her pillow while her tears fell, the protective blanket of sleep covering her within minutes.

A/N: Welp... Michael's keeping secrets, Tasha is smarter (kinda, maybe?) than Michael thought and poor Raven's completely in the dark. Drop a comment and let me know who you think this "source" is and how you think these two are going to react to the article! And so exciting - chapter 9 is like 1/3 done lol so it'll be out in the next two weeks. Would be sooner but I'm on vacation next week. Thanks for reading, commenting, liking... all the things! :)

You didn't know the exact number, but it was quite a few people sitting together at your dining room table. Everyone was laughing, talking, and enjoying each other's company. You examine the scene in front of you, taking a quick sip of your iced tea.
You couldn't help but smile, feeling the warmth of the moment as your mom laughed loudly placing an arm on your dad's shoulder. He leaned into the touch, smiling even wider than before.
"No! Honestly, you guys are like Mr. and Mrs. Smith." John, your father's best friend says, letting out a heartwarming chuckle. Your mom and dad look at each other, their eyes twinkling with love and joy. They both nod in agreement, finding it hilarious to be compared to the movie couple.
"Don't you think Jenna?" Jenna turns at the sound of her name, humming in agreement. "Just like em'. Remember when they were them for Halloween?" John laughs, nodding in agreement. "That was a good one, wasn't it?" He turns to your mom and dad, giving them a wink. "And you two were perfect for the part."
Jenna smiles, grabbing her glass of wine. Her diamond ring shining in the light of the room. "Y/N," a voice says at the end of the table. You raise your eyebrows, looking at the older blonde-haired woman. "My son, Chris, wants to know if you're still playing basketball."
You nod, taking a sip from your glass. "Yeah, I'm still playing." You say, smiling. The woman smiles back, "That's great. Chris would love to hear more about it." You nod again, placing down your glass. "Sure, I'd love to. Why don't you let me know when he's free and we can talk about it?" The woman nods, "I'll do that. I'm sure he'd be happy to hear what you have to say."
The rest of the night went by smoothly, everyone being glad to celebrate your parents' success with their recent client. You were grateful for your parents. They loved you dearly and always made sure you knew that despite their busy schedules.
You had a deep appreciation for their dedication and hard work. You wanted to make them proud, and you knew that meant doing your best in everything you did.
Everyone was gone except Jenna who was talking to your father at the kitchen island as your mother and you were washing the dirty dishes used for the get-together. Jenna was telling your father about her plans for the future. Your mother and you were silently listening, washing the dishes as Jenna talked. You could tell your parents were proud of her and the plans she had made.
She was their youngest friend, but one of their closest. They looked at her like another daughter, and she looked up to them as mentors. "But yeah, that was about it." Jenna finishes off. Your father nods with a hum, stroking his beard. Jenna smiled, a peaceful look on her face.
"Could you put these glasses away?" Your mother asks, gaining your attention. You look away and grab the glasses, putting them away in the cabinet. You turn back around and your father winks at you causing you to laugh.
Your mother smiles, shaking her head. She knows your father and you are always joking around. "We have some news." Your mother speaks up, leaning against the kitchen counter.
Your father nods, sitting upright on the bar stool. "We're leaving for Europe tomorrow morning for business." You nod, already knowing this information.
You feel there's a but coming in, "But..." There it is. "It's a three-month-long trip." Your father speaks up immediately reading the look on your face, "Well, it was supposed to be a month and a half but your mother and I want to take some time to relax."
You shrug and nod, knowing that you can handle the extended trip. You turn to your father and smile, "It's all good. I'll be on my best behavior. You two deserve a vacation." Your father side-eyes your mother, who takes a glance back at her husband.
Okay. What's going on? "We know... because Jenna will be watching over you." You snap your head to Jenna, your brows furrowed together before glancing between your parents.
"You're leaving Jenna to babysit me?" Jenna smiled nervously, not knowing what to say. Your parents exchanged a look before your dad spoke.
"Honey you have to understand, it's three months. We trust Jenna to take care of you."
You sighed and crossed your arms, not wanting to accept the reality. You knew what they were saying was true, but you just didn't want to believe it. You looked at Jenna, who was still smiling nervously. You turn back to your mom, uncrossing your arm. "I'm eighteen!"
Your mom raises an eyebrow at the rise of your voice. You took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. "You just turned eighteen. Watch your tone." You exhaled sharply and nodded, conceding to the fact that you had to wait before you could make your own decisions.
You glanced at Jenna, who was still sitting patiently, and then back at your mom. "Okay, I understand," you said, before turning your attention back to Jenna. Jenna smiles at you, relieved.
"And since you're under some new supervision we talked about some ground rules." First a babysitter and now ground rules? Were you fourteen? Your mom looks at your dad who nods quickly, turning his attention to you.
"We're taking the keys to your motorcycle," your eyes widen and you drop your jaw. He continues despite your reaction, "Please consult with Jenna before you do anything. No random invites, no random going out, tell her."
You nod your head in understanding. You know that this rule is for your own safety. "And finally go to class. No skipping! If I get a call from the office telling me you missed class, all hell will break loose. You hear me?" Your mom buts in, a stern look on her face.
You nod again and mumble, "Yes ma'am." You take a deep breath, knowing that your mom is looking out for you. Your mom raises from the counter, walking over to you and rubbing a hand on your bicep and saying, "We love you. We want you to be safe and responsible."
She gives your arm a gentle squeeze stepping back and facing Jenna, "Jenna you can stay in the guest room upstairs. If you need anything don't be afraid to ask, and make yourself at home." Jenna smiled and thanked her.
"There's plenty of food in the kitchen, and feel free to watch TV or use the internet if you want." Jenna nodded, giving your mom a warm smile. She thanked her again, and your dad stands up giving Jenna a squeeze on her shoulder before sticking his tongue out at you and heading upstairs.
Jenna laughed and your mom shook her head, amused following behind the tall man. Once your parents we're out of the kitchen Jenna looks at you, her dark brown eyes staring into yours. She smiled brightly and said, "Don't worry, I'm not a bad babysitter."
You shake your head, smiling. "Please stop. The term babysitter is so embarrassing." Jenna laughed and said, "I know you're not a baby, but I guess I'm still going to have to look out for you." She winked and you both laughed. You were relieved that she wasn't going to treat you like a child.
This was going to be a crazy three months.

What are your opinions on each of the songs? (you can answer with as much or as little detail as you'd like)
Tumblr media
Big shocker that the songs from the 2 good episodes are in S and the only one that isn’t is still B tier/sar
The first 2 songs in S made me either tear up/shake violently or cry, and therefore they deserve to be up there IMO. Out for love is also just genuinely catchy and had actual build up to it. Also God “Ready for This” just. OOUGGGHHH IT SCRATCHES MY BRAIN SO GOOD LIKE A WARRIOR CATS MAP. I like it a lot. You cant have multiple characters sing about working together and expect me to NOT cry.
“Stayed Gone” isn’t one I listen to often but it’s so peppy and fast and full of hatred I can’t help but enjoy it. Also everytime the song starts my brain does this
I dont know anything about Welcome Home
I have. Issues. With “Loser, Baby” but aside from those the song holds a lot more weight to it than I usually give it credit for. And for as cheesy as the start if it is, the line before of Angel talking about self destructing resonates with me a lot. Also Husk lays down in a puddle of vomit and no one talks about that ever.
Tumblr media
I think the first song in B is “Happy Day in Hell” and I’m adding it there 1. Because it is the first song 2. It gets a reprise thing 3. Charlie almost gets hit by a truck. Other than that it’s not really my favourite but I respect the impact it has.
“Hell is Forever” just fucks. End of story. Alex Brightman killed it.
“Respectless” is good I love Velvette’s VA, but the sudden start of the song and the ending are so out of left field the first time me and my friends watched this show we had to pause cause we lost our fucking minds. Could’ve been better but I’d listen to it again, yeah.
“Hell’s Greatest Dad” is silly and funny and maybe I’m biased as a violin player and jazz enjoyer but a lot of the instrumental tickles my brain so nicely. I will say though it confuses me so much because why does Alastor care about being seen as a father figure?? My mom said it could just be him wanting to show up Lucifer and that’s it but I dunno.
“More than Anything (Reprise)” AKA “Charlie and Veggie Kiss Scene - Hazbin Hotel”
Tumblr media
This song sounds like it’s straight out of Barbie & Th Diamond Castle and I’m honestly pissed the girls in the movie didn’t kiss so I’m coping with this. ALSO THE FACT ITS A REPRISED SONG ABOUT LOVE MAKES ME A BIT CRAZY. I never noticed this was the same song Lucifer sang to Charlie SOMEHOW but that’s actually really cute.
“It Starts With Sorry” Has a big part in Sir Pentious’s character growth and just his character in general. I’ve been working on this in my Pentious rant but I never see people mention how much this song probably meant to him. Yeah it’s super corny, but he was fully expecting to be killed and had just been told to kill himself. This was definitely huge for him and I’m not gonna be convinced otherwise.
“You Didn’t Know” is really good but Lute’s part is by far the best and I pray to GOD she gets her own song in S2 her voice actor can SING. GODDAMN! I am very interested in Lute’s character development and I love seeing what people do with close-minded characters like that and hopefully Vivzie doesn’t condemn her to Vivziepop Woman Syndrome. If she isn’t important in S2 I’m going to be pissed but I dunno maybe S3 if we get one.
“More Than Anything” Wish my dad was like this! This song is incredibly sweet and I appreciate it a lot. Honestly might go way higher on the list if I keep thinking about it.
“Whatever It Takes” Sorry you will never be Imagine Dragons. Vaggie doesn’t sound anything like herself cause her VA is making her voice so much more gruff for her character, which is fine! I like her voice (the voice direction is not very good but I digress) it’s just her voice is so high in this I can’t even tell it’s Vaggie.
“Welcome to Heaven” is boring, but we got a Molly cameo!
“Poison”. Read this and this and this. -10/10. I’d rather make out violently with Elon Musk.

Leon Kennedy x GN!Reader
Warnings: SFW, Age Gap, Leon is older, Relationship Disapproval, Self Depreciation, Insecurities, Fluff, Affection, Committed relationship
Mentions: Mentions Reader's mom, Reader is at least twenties
An: Hello loves! I'm so sorry this took forever and it's just a little post. Maybe I'll try this prompt again another day. I don't know why I just couldn't keep an idea for it 😭
----
"Yes, yes- okay mom, I gotta go-" you roll your eyes as you hang up your phone. Leon was sitting on the couch, he looked up at you with curiosity.
"Just my parents, as usual" you respond as you sit down next to him. He frowns a little as he leans over and cups your cheek "Complaining about this again?" He asks, knowing your parents have a distaste for him. You sigh as you lean into his palm "Yeah, but it's whatever. It's just annoying at this point".
Leon places a reassuring kiss on your forehead "You know, you don't have to stay with me-" you immediately cut him off "Ah ah, no no. You're stuck with me" you chuckle. "Besides...it's not like you're a bad boyfriend. You're great..."
Leon smiles a little before pulling you into his lap "I'm alright, sweetheart" he says softly. You can't help but roll your eyes, you'd call it modesty but sometimes you think he meant it too. "Keep on lying" you chuckle as you lean in and kiss him gently. He smiles against your lips as he kisses you back softly.
You were the only diamond in Leon's life as he thought of it. A shiny thing in all this darkness and rubble.
"Mm...I love you so much" he mumbles as he grips onto your hips. "Yeah? I love you too".
"You could do so much better than me..." He says with a genuine look in his blue eyes. He believes it. You were so much better than him, as much as he wanted to say he deserved you...he doesn't feel like it.
"C'mon Leon...you're not that bad" you sigh as you kiss along the stubble of his jaw. "I'm not that good either, sweetheart..." He sighed.
"Well if you think you're shitty, guess I just got bad taste" you tease with a shit eating grin. Leon can't help but let out a small huff of a laugh. "Damn brat..." He smirked.
Leon holds the back of your head and pulls you into another kiss as he sighs in content. Guess you're the one thing he can be just a little greedy about.

The Proposal
Pairing: Rooster x Girlfriend!Reader
Author’s Note: This one was requested by @raefoxiegirl! It will soon be followed by the wedding headcanon requested by @mercury-mae!
I’m extra proud of this one, so I’d love to know what people think through comments/reblogs!
Warnings: Mostly a lot of fluff, but also some angst that comes with parental illness and loss.
Tumblr media
- Rooster had known almost from the very start of your relationship that you were the one. You were the only woman for him, the woman his mom had always told him to hold out and wait for.
- The thought of getting to call you his wife and, hopefully one day, the mother of his children filled Rooster with the most indescribable joy and also the most calming peace. That’s how he knew you were his forever.
- “There won’t be any fear at all when you find the right girl, honey,” his mom had often said. “That’s how you’ll know it’s her.” She’d always grabbed his face with affection and pressed a big kiss to his cheek whenever she said that. “And hearts will break all over the world when my handsome Bradley gets taken off the market.”
- Rooster had enlisted Phoenix’s help before purchasing the ring.  Thankfully, the two of you were close friends so it was easy for her to spend time with you.
- “You’re lucky that we just so happen to be the same ring size,” Phoenix grinned, reporting back to him after she had casually asked to borrow some of your jewelry.
- The ring Rooster ended up picking out was a gorgeous vintage piece, which he knew you would love. It featured a large pear-shaped diamond, encircled by several smaller diamonds which sparkled beautifully in the light. It was perfect, just like you.
- Carole had wanted to give Rooster her engagement ring, as well as her wedding band, but he hadn’t been able to bear the thought of her being parted from them. His whole life long, he had never once seen his mother take those rings off. They’d been a lifelong sign of her love and commitment to his father, even years after his death.
- “Mom, I can’t take them from you,” he’d told her tearfully, holding her hand tightly as she lay in her bed, propped up with pillows and weak from the cancer that had taken her from him. “Dad got them for you. He wanted you to have them. They’re yours,” he said gently, pressing a kiss to the back of her hand.
- “My sweet baby,” Carole whispered, reaching out to cup his face. It had broken her heart that she wouldn’t get to see the man her son would become, the woman he would marry, the family he would build, the life he would lead.
- A month later, Rooster had buried his mother, the rings that belonged only to her still firmly on her finger. He knew it was the right decision. And as much as he missed his mother, he knew she was happy to be singing and laughing with his dad once again.
- Rooster hoped that you would cherish the ring he had picked out for you just as much as his mom had cherished the rings Goose had chosen for her.
- After he had the ring, Rooster decided he wanted to get your family’s blessing. Your father had abandoned your mother, brother, and you when you were just a kid, so you didn’t have a relationship with him. But Rooster knew how much your mom and brother meant to you. They had moved to Florida, which was perfect since there were a number of naval air bases out there. It gave him a great cover for why he had to travel.
- Rooster had only met your family in person a few times, but they adored him and couldn’t have been happier to give their blessing for his proposal. “She’s going to say yes,” your mom had assured him with a wink and a smile that reminded him so much of you.
- With the ring and the blessing secured, the only thing left for Rooster to do was to plan the actual proposal itself. He racked his brain, trying to come up with something that would be creative and special, but also meaningful and intimate. You deserved nothing but the absolute best in his eyes.
- Ultimately, Rooster decided he wanted to propose at The Hard Deck. It was the place where the two of you had first met and a place that held a lot of special moments and memories for you both.
- To pull it off, Rooster enlisted everybody’s help. Penny agreed to close the bar for the night, claiming maintenance work needed to be done, so that they could have the space to themselves. Maverick, Amelia, Phoenix, and Bob helped decorate the bar with flower petals and candles. Hangman and Coyote went to pick up the champagne you loved from a winery you and Rooster had gone to. Payback and Fanboy set up the speaker system and connected the playlist you had once made for the two of you.
- The night of, Rooster told you that he was taking you out for a fancy dinner, so you had gotten dressed to the nines. You went all out with your hair and make-up, glad that you’d just recently gotten a new manicure. Feeling particularly bold, you even wore the new lingerie set you had recently purchased while on a shopping trip with Phoenix and some of your other girlfriends.
- Rooster’s eyes had nearly bugged out of his head when he saw you. Whistling, he took your hand and twirled you around slowly, admiring the view. “Baby girl, you are a wonder,” he told you, kissing you softly.
- “Don’t mess up my lipstick before we even get out the door,” you teased, nudging him playfully as you grabbed your purse. “What restaurant is it we’re going to again?”
- “Some new one downtown. Hangman said it was good,” Rooster replied casually, shrugging his shoulders. He hoped he didn’t appear as jittery as he felt. He wanted tonight to go perfectly. “Don’t kill me though. We have to make a quick stop at The Hard Deck first.”
- “Everything okay? Penny said she had to close tonight for some maintenance work,” you replied, slipping your hand into his as he led you to his truck and opened the door for you, helping you up.
- “Yeah, she just needs my help with something really quick,” Rooster nodded, hopping into his truck and driving the short distance from your apartment to The Hard Deck. “Come with me, baby. Penny would love to see you, and she’ll pour you a drink while you wait,” he grinned, helping you climb back down out of the truck.
- “It looks kind of dark in there. Is everything okay with the power?” you asked in concern as the two of you approached the entrance to the bar.
- “Oh, yeah, don’t worry about it. I got you,” Rooster winked, squeezing your hand as he led you inside.
- You gasped at what you found. The entire bar and most of the surrounding tables had been covered in yellow rose petals (yellow roses were your favorite) and soft, flickering candles. As soon as you stepped inside, you heard the opening strains of Frank Sinatra’s “The Way You Look Tonight.” It was one of your favorite songs, and the first song you and Rooster had ever slow danced to.
- “Babe, what is—”
- Before you could say anything else, Rooster was stopping you in the middle of the room and dropping down to one knee before you, which made your heart rate accelerate immediately as you covered your shocked face with both hands.
- “Baby,” Rooster began, reaching up to take one of your hands and tug it away from your face. You already felt yourself starting to cry. “I love you so much. So, so much,” he said, squeezing your hand gently as he gazed up at you with adoration brimming in his eyes. “From the moment you came into my life, it’s only gotten better. You are the very best part of me.”
- You were definitely crying now, tears streaming down your cheeks despite your best attempts to stop them.
- “I–I’ve been so lonely for so long. But with you, I know I’m never alone. You make every day so special, baby. My mom—” You could tell he was getting choked up when he mentioned his mother. “My mom always used to tell me that when I met the right girl, I would know she was the one because I wouldn’t be afraid. I wouldn’t be afraid to commit to her and want to spend the rest of my life with her. That’s how my dad knew my mom was the one. And it’s how I know you’re the one for me. Baby, I don’t want to live a minute in this life without you. Will you marry me?” he asked, opening a black velvet box to reveal the most breathtakingly exquisite ring you had ever seen.
- “Oh, God, baby,” you cried, hoping you hadn’t completely destroyed your make-up, but grateful that the man before you wouldn’t care if you had. “Yes! Yes, yes, yes! A thousand times yes!” you exclaimed, your hand trembling with excitement as Rooster slipped the ring onto your finger. A perfect fit.
- As soon as it was on, Rooster rose and took you into his arms, swinging you around as you kissed him hungrily. “I love you! God, I love you,” you whispered against his lips, while his fingers ran through your hair.
- “I love you, too, baby girl,” Rooster murmured, pressing a kiss to your forehead and holding you close.
- At that moment, unable to contain their excitement any longer, everyone came rushing out of their hiding places, cheering and screaming and covering the two of you in confetti.
- After getting repeatedly hugged and kissed, and sharing a champagne toast with all your friends, you and Rooster managed to slip out onto the beach while everyone else kept celebrating inside.
- “I’ve never been happier in my life,” you told him, gazing up at him as he slipped an arm around your waist. “I can’t wait to call you my husband.”
- “And I can’t wait to call you my wife,” Rooster replied, taking your hand in his and holding you close as the two of you began to sway to the music that was softly trickling out of The Hard Deck.
- Rooster knew that his parents were looking down tonight and that they were smiling.

Oh For a Muse of Fire! Part 7
I love writing this story so much I am constantly going back and rereading my favorite parts. And when I write really, really good bits I want to put it up immediately so you all can squee with me. But I also know that it’s better to give each part some time between each one so the chapter can get the love it deserves. It’s ongoing battle I tell you.
This is the start of what I’ve been calling in my head the dark chapters. This is where we get to the tragic backstories that drove these two boys apart. TW: for panic attack in this and brief mention violence.
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
*
Chrissy came over to where the boys had sat down with Wayne after they had put their equipment away. She slid the beers over to each of them with practiced ease.
“So...” she began. “You’ve got history with my boy, Garnet.”
“Who the fuck is Garnet?” Jeff asked.
Chrissy giggled. “My boss is weird hipster who has all off of us go by gem names to keep up the mystic of the place. Jewels of the Queen’s Crown as it were.”
Gareth laughed. “And what do they call you?”
“I’m Opal for now,” she explained after taking a swig of her beer. “But Garnet says that before he leaves, I’ll probably be Sapphire or Emerald.” She thought for a moment. “Considering Diamond’s sense of humor? Probably Sapphire.”
“Why Sapphire?” Eddie asked, frowning in confusion.
Chrissy laughed. “Because I’m a lesbian?” The boys just stared at her with blank faces. “Sappho is the first lesbian? Another word for lesbian is sapphic? Sapphire, sapphic?”
Suddenly they got it and started nodded.
She turned to Eddie. “Don’t think I didn’t notice you avoiding the question. You and I are going to have nice long talk about it later.”
Eddie straightened up and looked guiltily at his beer. “We just aren’t in the same universe is all.”
Chrissy looked over at Garnet and sighed. “I think you guys are closer than you think.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Eddie growled. “In what multi-verse are me and that man even in the same hemisphere?”
Chrissy sighed. “I’m not one for spreading rumors around but from what I’ve heard, Garnet’s dad threw him out when he came out as gay.”
All four boys turned to look at Steve slinging cocktails like he was born to it in shock.
“He’s gay?” Jeff asked. “There’s no way. He was a known ladies’ man in high school. Him and his girlfriend were like the king and queen of Hawkins.”
Chrissy just hummed. “Trust me when I say that I’ve been working with him for almost two months now, and the dude ain’t straight. He never flirts with the girls. Like ever. And yeah, sure some of it can be marked down to Garnet being a consummate professional. But when guys flirt with him, he gets all flustered and turns pink.”
Eddie sat back. “Huh.” He shrugged off the gnawing feeling in the back of his mind of what it would have been like if Eddie had known that sooner. “Still, I wouldn’t have thought that pretty, rich boy Garnet would deign to work at a bar, even one as upscale as this one.”
“What the fuck you talking about, boy?” Wayne growled, speaking up for the first time. “I didn’t teach you that classist bullshit.”
Eddie ducked his head. “Sorry, Uncle Wayne.”
Wayne jutted his chin Steve’s direction. “I know you’ve been calling him something different because of the rules of the club or whatever, but if you lot are talking about that boy at the bar, then you need to check your bias. He worked at the plant for a year on the weekends trying to save money for college.”
Everyone turned to Wayne in shock.
“He worked at the plant?” Gareth said. “But I thought he was earning money babysitting. He used to babysit my sister Clara after school when I had to work or had band practice.”
Jeff shook his head. “Nah, man. He was working at Family Video that year. My mom would gush about how sweet and helpful he was when she was trying to find a good family movie.”
Wayne took a sip of his beer. “That boy did all three at the same time. He told me he’d work the video store during the time the kids would be at school and then babysit after. Then he’d work weekends at night at the plant.” He glared at Eddie. “Did such a good job, Ken wanted him to take over as foreman of the night shift when he retired.”
Eddie looked over at Steve and furrowed his brow. “Sorry, Uncle Wayne,” he repeated with more conviction.
Wayne nodded and the topic changed to what songs they should preform next time and in what order.
Sometimes Eddie would catch himself looking over at Steve in a new light.
*
Steve was having a bad week. There was no getting around it. He was trying to get to class, but the beemer wouldn’t start.
It ground and ground, but wouldn’t start.
“Fuck!”
He pounded on the steering wheel. He was going to have to take the bus, which meant he was going to be late.
He threw open his door and popped the hood. Maybe he figure it out. He checked the oil and the other fluids, but they were all at least decent levels. He check for any loose cables but everything seemed to be connected.
Steve was about to slam the hood back down when someone stopped him.
“What seems to be the trouble, Harrington?” Eddie asked, hand on the hood preventing its closure.
Steve sighed. “No fucking clue. And I’m going to be late for class. And since the midterm is due today, if I’m late, I’m fucked.”
Eddie hummed. “I’ll call someone to come get the car and I’ll drive you in.”
Steve stared at him wide-eyed and slack-jawed. “Why? You don’t like me.”
Eddie cocked his head to the side. “No, I don’t. However, I’m not going to let someone like you mess things up for Joyce.”
Steve wanted to protest and scream but he knew that’s what Eddie expected him to do. So he just shrugged. “Whatever, man. Just get me the number for this auto shop of yours and we’ll consider the transaction complete.”
Eddie slammed the hood down and Steve went to pull the keys out of the ignition. He kept the windows rolled up, but the door unlocked. He placed the keys under the visor and then grabbed his bag.
“The tow truck will be here in five minutes,” Eddie said, putting his phone back into his pocket, “so it shouldn’t be too long.”
Steve sighed heavily and followed Eddie to his van.
Once they were on their way Steve turned to him. “What did you mean that I might mess things up for Joyce?”
Eddie looked at him briefly before turning back to the road. “I thought you knew her.”
Steve sighed again. “Yeah, four years ago. Which is what I tried to tell Dean Ortega. Yes, I used to babysit her youngest son. Yes, I did that for a year. No, I haven’t spoken to her in the last four. Been kinda busy, you know, going to school.”
Eddie hummed. “There’s been so much trouble with the course the college is thinking of dropping it. And if that happens...”
Steve threw his head back against the headrest. “Then she’s out a job. Great. I was there for those two major fuck ups. I don’t know what happened with the last teacher, but the first professor was a real piece of work.”
Eddie licked his lips thoughtfully. “According to Joyce, Professor Martin was found sleeping with the live model.”
Steve blinked. “The basketball captain?” he asked, his voice squeaking in shock and outrage. “Holy fuck!”
“Yeah,” Eddie agreed. “Joyce said that she was surprised that they even gave the class one more chance.”
Steve nodded. “Yeah, I guess. Jesus Christ.”
They got to class and Joyce looked at them with a big grin on her face. “Oh, I didn’t know you guys were friends!”
Eddie and Steve shared a glance.
“Oh we’re not,” Eddie said and Steve winced.
“We just live in the same apartment complex and Eddie came to my rescue when my car wouldn’t start this morning,” Steve explained.
Joyce smiled fondly. “That was sweet of you, Eddie dear.”
Eddie blushed and turned his head. “I was just being a good Samaritan.”
“Well, thank you,” she murmured.
Steve nodded. “Yeah, thanks Eds.”
Eddie bit his lip at the new nickname. “You’re welcome.”
Steve grinned and went to sit down.
Eddie blushed and got into position, striping down to his underwear. He kept his eye on Steve like he always did. But today, instead of the count of one, two, three and look away, Steve’s gaze lingered, drawing in shorter spurts and longer looks at his body.
He didn’t know how he felt about that, or rather his brain didn’t. His heart and libido were one hundred percent onboard with the heated regard. His brain told them to shut up.
*
It was an unseasonably warm day for March. The sun was finally starting to do more then hang in the sky and look pretty. Robin and Steve were on their way back to their apartment after a rare Sunday meeting at the bar. They were dressed for work. Robin all in black and Steve in his white button up.
They were a block and half from their place, having had to take the bus with Steve’s car still in the shop, when suddenly a storm rolled in and opened up above them.
Instantly they were drenched to the skin. Robin broke into a run to try to get to their apartment faster, but soon realized that Steve wasn’t with her. She looked back to see that Steve had sunk to his knees, his arms wrapped around his shoulders. As if he was trying to cover his back.
“Shit!” Robin hissed and ran back to his side. “Steve? Come on, Steve. We’re almost home.”
He shook his head and began to rock back and forth. “They’ll see! They’ll see.”
“Steve, there’s no one around,” she reasoned. “I’ll even walk behind you if that will make you feel better. But we can’t just sit out here in the rain, dingus.”
But try as she might, she knew it was futile. Steve was firmly locked inside his head and she didn’t know how to get him out. Even after years of seeing him like this, she hadn’t found a tried and true way to make him come out, except to wait them out and hope it didn’t take too long.
She sat on the cold wet pavement and settled down to wait out this nightmare.
Just then a van slowed down beside them and Eddie called out, “Hey, Buckley, everything okay?”
She looked down at Steve and then back at Eddie. She had a choice to make and it wasn’t an easy one.
“No,” she said, forcing out the best response for Steve in that moment. They needed help and if Eddie was willing, she’d be a fool to turn him away.
The van came to screeching halt and Eddie was out onto the pavement in an instant.
“What happened?” he asked, not sure if he should get close in case it was seizure again.
“It started to rain and his scars started to show through the white fabric,” Robin explained.
Eddie walked around to Steve’s back and cursed. “What the fuck?!”
Robin frowned. “How the hell do you not know about Steve’s scars? Like literally everyone in the whole god damn country knows how he got them.”
Eddie’s head reared back. “Um...not me. When did it happen?”
Robin stared at him aghast. “What do you mean when did it happen? It was literally a nine day wonder on all news outlets.” When Eddie just continued to stare at her as if she was mad, she said. “His senior year of high school? He was gone for like a week, how did you not notice?”
Eddie pursed his lips. “Probably the same reason you never noticed I was gone for that same fucking time period.”
She looked down at Steve who was still rocking back and forth. “Steve, hey can you hear me?”
Steve just continued to be lost in his own world.
Eddie took a step closer to see if he could help but Robin held her hand up. “Stay back! When he gets like this his fight or flight response is heightened and he’s been known to pack one hell of a punch.”
Eddie blinked rapidly. “Come again?” His hand came up to his jaw instinctively.
Robin rubbed circles along Steve’s back trying to get his to calm down. “There was once he had a panic attack in public and this guy came up and tried to help him, thinking he’d fallen or something,” she explained. “Steve lashed out not knowing what was happening. He said he woke up with a vague memory of the hit and bruised knuckles. Of course by then, the guy had booked it.”
Eddie took a step back. “That...that was me.”
Robin’s head shot up. “Oh fuck.” She looked back down at Steve. “You thought he hit you because you tried to help him.”
Eddie snarled, “He dislocated my jaw. I couldn’t sing for six months.”
Robin was on her feet in an instant. “Shit, shit, shit. He doesn’t know what he’s doing when he’s like this. That incident haunts him.”
Eddie took another step back. “It haunts me too.” He yanked off his jacket and threw it at her. “For his modesty. He can return it at the next class.”
He turned on his heel and ran to his van. He peeled away from the curb, like the hounds of hell were on his tail.
Robin stood there watching Eddie go, her tears blending with the rain. She didn’t even bother to wipe her face. She walked back to Steve and put the jacket around his shoulders.
The combination of the warmth of the jacket and the covering of Steve’s scars, he slowly came out of his panic attack.
She helped him to his feet and the made it the rest of the way to their apartment. She let him have the first shower and put him to bed.
They were going to have to have a long talk when he was sane enough to handle it.

Immortal Desires Playthrough part five
- I'm so sick of the mom drama and it just keeps coming.
- "Your high willpower helped you keep your cool!" Someone has to in this house.
- The Venandi's are all assholes but Val and Scott are at least funny about it. Margo is kind of the worst.
- I'm guessing Cas was a teen in the mid to late 80s, going on flashback clothing styles alone. This means he could have been born in the early 70s or late 60s, making him a rare Gen X vampire.
- I've never wanted to strangle a Choices character before and then Denise existed.
- Cas's recruitment actually makes me a little upset, they saw a scared vulnerable kid being ostracized and decided to bring him into a gang. I'd adopt Cas if I could.
- I think this whole diamond scene upsets me because my best friend in middle school/early high school was a foster kid and people would say that stuff to her. It makes me cry to think about it now as an adult who understands Implications and I'm sad for Cas. He deserved better.
- Libbey is being really weird, it makes me uncomfortable. I may have to drain her like a capri sun if this gets any worse.
- "You have to choose eventually" I already did Jade. I very clearly have. This isn't even a discussion.
- Gabriel, you know the MC is with Cas, why are you setting this clock tower nonsense up at all?
- I was right about the powers as I am about most things and by most things I mean nothing. This was a fluke and an easy guess.
- Did he block me?

You're Never Just Anything To Me (7)
@today-in-fic | ao3 | Prev. Chapter
A look into Mulder and Scully’s relationship starting from Millennium going all the way up to Requiem.
Trigger warning: self harm (it's not graphic but it's there)
VII. Sein und Zeit.
PART ONE.
He receives a phone call a little after 6pm Tuesday night. At first Mulder thinks it’s Scully but when it’s his mother’s voice that sounds through instead, he’s a little taken aback.
“Mom? Hi. Is everything okay?”
It is, fortunately. Though a little strange for her to call him so suddenly, her next request is even stranger.
“Are you free this weekend?”
Weekends are for him and Scully, he thinks.
“Uh…maybe. Why?”
“I’d like you to visit,” his mother says. “If you’re free, of course.”
Mulder thinks it over. He could bear a weekend away from Scully and he’s sure she wouldn’t mind.
“Yeah, okay. I’ll come up.”
“Wonderful,” his mother exclaims. “I’ll see you then.”
“Yeah, see you…” The phone dial tones and Mulder stares into space wondering what this could be about.
He tells Scully about his weekend trip to Connecticut.
“That’s great, Mulder,” she says with a genuine smile. “I have stuff to do this weekend anyway so you should go.”
“Yeah…” he says though his mind is still trying to read between the lines. He accepted ages ago that he wasn’t going to have much of a relationship with his mother- it was too murky, she had kept too much to herself. He was prepared to go at it alone.
“She probably just wants to see you.” He is forced out of his thoughts by Scully who is still looking at him, responding as if she’s just read his mind. “I wouldn’t look too much into it.”
When the front door is opened, his mother immediately hugs him.
It’s strange to receive any form of comfort from her and Mulder is taken aback. It takes him a moment to process, to wrap his own arms around her.
“Is everything okay?”
“It’s fine,” she says pulling away. His stomach twists as he regards her, the way she doesn’t quite meet his eyes, it’s like she’s holding something back. “I just wanted to see you.”
Mulder calms his worries. Scully is right, she’s probably just trying to make up for lost time. They sit down on the couch and talk. Mulder waits for the moment when she’ll open up, tell him what is on her mind, she never does. Yet as the time moves on Mulder begins to grow more comfortable, he finds himself liking it, enjoying her company. He doesn’t think he’ll ever see her as his mother, not quite, but a close acquaintance, possibly.
They agree to make this in person meet up thing semi-regular, to be planned around his work, his life, Scully (though he’s yet to tell her about that, another time) It is Sunday and Mulder makes the drive back home. It likes this. He could get used to this.
On his third visit, he mentions Scully. It only made sense with their plans to try IVF, him becoming a father would make his mother a grandmother. She deserves to know.
“That’s great, Fox,” his mother says sounding genuine. “She sounds like a good one.”
He smiles, thinking about Phoebe and Diana- both of whom his mother met. “Yeah,” he agrees. “Yeah, she is.”
“And marriage?” Teena asks. “Surely you’re not just thinking about impregnating the woman and that being that?”
Mulder balks. Not at the idea of marriage to Scully- he could actually think of nothing better- but because he’s never really thought about it before. They’ve never discussed it, Scully’s never once brought it up. But yeah…Yeah, it’d make sense.
“You can do a lot more for her as her husband than you could otherwise.”
He’s in his mother’s room searching for the engagement ring where she said it would be. He finds it safely encased inside a separate jewellery box. Mulder regards it: a silver band, the diamond in the middle. He stares at it, imaging it on Scully’s hand. Scully doesn’t wear rings, she spends too much time in the chest cavity of a corpse to wear rings, she told him once but he can picture this one on her finger, clear as day. Mulder pockets it. When the right time comes- when the IVF has worked and she is pregnant with their baby- he’ll ask her. His stomach twists with excited nerves.
He bids goodbye to his mother for another week, thanks for her the ring, and makes arranges for their next weekend meeting.
It never happens.
He is spiralling, out of control. He makes connections that aren’t there, holds the pill bottle and blames their conspirators. What looks staged to Mulder appears as a normal suicide scene to Scully. People commit suicide, Mulder, when they’re in pain. You’re mother was in pain.
He begs her to do the autopsy and Scully blanches. No, she couldn’t do it. With strangers there’s a detachment, they are just a body, evidence on a metal table, it’s so much easier to think that when she doesn’t know them.
“But if you don’t do it, I might never know the truth,” he tells her. There’s pain in his eyes as he says it, a strain in his voice. You’re the one I trust he is telling her.
So she agrees.
She almost doesn’t go to his apartment.
She wants to process it all herself, to think things over in her own mind before she tells him. He is ruthless. When his mind is set it’s pretty hard to change it. Scully sighs and removes her glasses. She’ll go over, it wasn’t right to keep this from him, even if he wasn’t going to believe her. She packs her bag, placing the reports carefully inside. She steels her heart and her mind, tells herself to deliver the facts just as she would do with any other family member.
But he is just not any other and that just might break her resolve.
Mulder listens to the tape over and over again, searching for clues, listening between the lines. He also does it for comfort, to hear her voice- a voice he’ll never hear again. He shuts his eyes against the onslaught of grief, replays the message, refocuses his mind on what matters. She was holding something back.
Everyone refused to acknowledge the similarities; Scully, Skinner, all believing he was just personalising the case but he knew it was similar and his mother knew it to. He should’ve persuaded her to talk. He’s gone off course, is mind elsewhere thinking about rings and babies and not what was more present: his search, his answers, the truth about Samantha.
There’s a knock against the door and when he opens it Scully stands there. She looks exactly how he feels: exhausted but he is dragging her inside, finally glad she is here because he’s cracked the code, it was about Samantha, it was always about Samantha.
He pulls her towards the answering machine, replays the message, implores her to listen to it properly. Samantha was never abducted by aliens, it was just something he was led to believe and that is what his mother wanted to tell him and they killed her for it, because of what she knew, what she—
“Is killed herself, Mulder.”
Scully’s words are said forcefully, harshly, resolutely.
They land like a blow, a slap in the face, a bomb going off.
No, no…the message on the answering machine, the staged crime scene, it couldn’t…it couldn’t be that simple.
Scully is talking but Mulder can barely hear her. She’s pulling papers from her bag but he doesn’t want to see them. He shakes his head, in shock.
“She didn’t want to live,” Scully says gently, the paper extended out towards him.
He shatters to pieces, the world collapsing all around him. She was lying, she was in on it, she did it. He shakes the desk, it’s contents rattling about repeating She’s lying, she’s lying, she’s lying…
“Mulder—”
Her hand against his shoulder wakes him.
Scully wouldn’t lie.
He looks at her and sees the pain, the sympathy, the empathy, the worry reflecting back at him.
She doesn’t want this to be true either.
But it is.
She killed herself.
His entire body collapses onto her, gripping her tight enough he’s sure it hurts, curling his frame into a ball around her, the sobs ripping painfully from his chest. He shakes and shakes.
Scully curls herself around him and he feels the faintest touch of her lips on his neck, the gentle rocking. She tells him that it’s all going to be okay.
He wants it to all be okay.
He cries. He screams. He sobs. He throws up. It’s 3am and when he tries to hurt himself she tries to redirect him to hurt her instead.
That stops him. His eyes are red and his cheeks are tear stained. He looks at her horror struck.
“Scully, I could never hurt you,” he tells her, horrified at even the thought.
She pulls her to him. “I know, I know,” she whispers. It doesn’t matter, she’s distracted him long enough for the urge to go away.
She makes him feel good instead, she makes him forget even just for a time, to bask in the relief of not feeling like that for even a minute was enough sometimes.
The gentle gyrate of her hips, his hands holding onto her like a lifetime, his face leaning against her chest. She feels his body tense, a muffled groan escaping his lips. She feels the rush of his cum filling her and she doesn’t even care that she didn’t get to come.
He kisses the tops of her breasts, twirls his tongue around her cleavage. She feels her nipples tighten, her chest pushing against his face off its own accord.
Mulder looks up at her, asking, begging. Scully rises on her knees, her chest now level with his face. He wastes no time, latching onto one nipple, suckling. Scully gasps, she feels a throb between her legs, his cum slipping out of her.
Her pleasure is his comfort. He pulls away and quickly moves to the other, all the while his hand snakes around her thigh, coming to rest between her legs. His sifts through her wetness and his cum, slowly fucking her with his fingers while his bites, sucks, and tongues at her nipple.
For a moment Scully lets herself forget, too.
She wakes after three hours of sleep of broken sleep. Groggy and tired, the sheets stuck to her sweat covered body, Mulder clinging on.
Scully extracts herself from his hold, not an easy task when he has an ironclad grip on her. She was sweaty and sticky, sore and achy. She wanted a shower before she had to face the next round of demons.
She thought that had been the end of it. When she had come and Mulder had fallen asleep against her breasts, she thought they were finally done, to fall asleep and not worry until tomorrow.
He was pacing the room like a caged animal, his footsteps loud and heavy against the floor, repeatedly pinching, pulling, and scratching at the skin of his forearm. She could see the scratches, the way he’d marked his skin, hurt himself. She didn’t want him to do that anymore. She offers herself up for the second time.
Scully touches the back of her head. There’s a bump where her head had collided violently with the wall. She remembers his kiss that was so hard it was borderline painful, the punishing pace of his thrusts. She let him throw her onto the bed, feels the harsh tug of his hand in her hair pulling him back towards her. There’s bruising around her wrists were he’d gripped them too tight, pulled them above her head while he thrusted in and out of her. She let him use her however she wished becoming not a person with her own pleasures and preferences but simply a body. A body designed to take away his pain. His cum spurted all over her; her back, her stomach, her chest. Not her face, though. He couldn’t bring himself to look at her face no matter how hard she tried. He was ashamed, she realised. Ashamed to get off on using her in such a way. It didn’t matter if she was the one who offered. When she tried to help him, to take over, he’d just grabbed her arm held it down and she could do nothing but watch as he jerked himself off.
She’s still covered in his cum, now dry and flakey. They didn’t have much energy to do much other than sleep after that.
She gathers her clothes, picking up the pieces, and the pieces of herself off the floor. She goes into the bathroom, places yesterday’s clothes on the counter, switches on the shower and waits for the water to heat up. She pees, she brushes her teeth with the spare toothbrush that has become hers, pulls open the drawer with her soap and towels in it, Mulder has something similar at her place.
So much of each other exists in the other’s space, she thinks. And soon, not long now, something shared will exist in her.
He lets the shower water lull him awake. In blissful ignorance he finds contentment. He rolls over onto the side he knows is empty and snuggles into her pillow, inhaling her scent.
The shower water stops suddenly. He is awake. Reality kicks in.
He hears the door to the bathroom open, the whirl of the extractor fan as she switches it on. The bed dips, he keeps his eyes closed, he doesn’t want to face today.
She smells of lavender and jasmine when she leans over him. Mulder wants to lose himself in it, to forget everything, and exist in this wonderfully scented Scully world. Her lips press a kiss into his hairline, her fingers soothingly combing through his hair.
“I love you, Mulder,” she says. A whisper, a secret and he clenches the sheets in his fist.
I love you, too he so desperately wants to say back.
A knock on the door interrupts him. He stays quiet. He keeps his eyes closed. The mattress springs back up as Scully stands, her bare feet padding along the floor on the way to the front door.
His bedroom door is left open, he can hear Skinner at the door, their conversation. Billie LaPierre wants to talk to him. His heart catches and his eyes open. He’s clambering out of the bed, throwing on his jeans and t-shirt is record time.
“It’s not a—”
“What is it?” Mulder interrupts. He ignores Scully’s worried look. He needs to know what this is.
“The case has heated up,” says Skinner slightly taken off guard by Mulder’s sudden appearance. “I’ve booked two flights for us.”
Mulder nods.
“Well, then you better book three,” says Scully. Her voice makes room for no argument.
Skinner sits in the living room as they collect their stuff. He wants to talk about last night but he can’t seem to think of the right words. He also doesn’t want to have this conversation with Skinner in the room next door.
When Scully leans forward to grab something he spies the bruises starting to form on her wrist. He feels sick. I did that, he thinks with a sickening thought.
“Scully, I’m—”
“Work Stuff remember, Mulder? Let’s focus on the case.”
He nods, biting his tongue. Work Stuff, Us Stuff, Personal Stuff…it was all starting to meld together, to entangle up as one whole thing. How could they keep the Work Stuff and Us Stuff separate when it was all becoming two ends of the same thing.
But he doesn’t say anything. Scully puts her coat on, pulls the sleeves right over her wrists. She hides the darkest part of their night away and leaves the bedroom, Mulder following close behind.

random ass lps popular thought but i literally dont understand people who treat brooke like shes innocent solely because her mom is shitty??? like to me it seems like a very clear "villain origin story that explains why they are the way they are but doesn't redeem them". her mom is neglectful and abusive, yes, but a lot of her actions through the series are like. completely divorced from that conflict. brooke may be taking ques from her mom with the whole cutthroat social attitude she has going on but her actions are still very much her own, like she only got the baseline ideology of "you need to stay at the top to have any worth" from her mom and everything else (the manipulation, cheating, blackmail, etc) is all stuff she chose to do herself to attain that goal. and even THEN she's doing it all completely to serve herself, her mom couldn't care less about her daughter's status in high school. brooke probably knows this and is doing whatever she can to derive self worth from her social status alone because she's all too aware that her mom just doesnt give a shit. so everything she does is still on her
i guess a more succinct way of putting it is like. brooke's backstory is more of a frame for her mindset than something you should feel sorry for her over, yknow? because as badly as she's treated at home she turns around and treats everyone around her the exact same way. abuse is cyclical and it's crystal clear that brooke is willingly continuing the cycle because she's obsessed with the power it gives her, power that was stolen from her that she's now stealing from others. and the kicker here is she HAD chances to make positive changes, both with her dad treating her nicer while he was still alive which establishes that she does know how to be kind as well as savy being willing to reconnect and give her genuine friendship again which could've helped her out of this toxic mindset. but she threw both of those chances away because she's so power hungry and is CHOOSING to continue acting like her mom because that's what gets her the most power/worth.
she needs help, but she doesn't deserve forgiveness or sympathy because of all the heinous shit she's done. also, you can't help someone unless they accept the help and/or are willing to change, and we've seen that brooke is NOT willing to change at all. idk man i just dont think we should be so fast to absolve her of accountability when she hasn't shown any willingness to overcome her circumstances. like not even "oh i want to change but things are so hard" no she doesn't want to change full stop. shes stuck in her mindset and that's her downfall and that's the point
anyway brooke would fucking love marina and the diamonds. unrelated to everything

Since I’ve seen you also do fallout 4 Reacts, how about this, romanced fallout 4 companions react to synth Shaun calling the mom/dad
They had known, going into this thing they shared with Vault 111's sole survivor, that the road to a happy ending wasn't going to be easy. Love was already hard enough to navigate, even without the person on the receiving end being a pre-war relic, a figurehead of the Commonwealth, and number one most wanted on multiple factions' bounty lists. Those moments of peace they managed to snatch were fleeting, but they teased of greater things, and when their fingers and the sole survivor's intertwined atop the roof of Mass Fusion as the Institute crumbled into the Charles River below, they selfishly wondered if this meant a newfound freedom for their relationship.
Then came Shaun. Pure, naive, starry-eyed Shaun, who looked up at the sole survivor with the sweetest smile and gifted them the saddest holotape, who held out his arms for one person only and folded inward if left with anyone else. He confounded everyone, not just the sole survivor's chosen partner, but it didn't matter. His remaining parent held him close during the darkest hours, told him stories and sang him lullabies until he stopped shaking and slept. It was on one of these late nights that the sole survivor's companion resolved to do right by both of them, no matter what it took, and pressed a gentle kiss into the crown of the sleeping boy's head.
Cait: "You envy him," the sole survivor said quietly the next morning as they watched Shaun skip ahead on the road to Diamond City.
Cait swallowed. "I do," she admitted. "I've told you what my own parents were like. When I look at you, I can't help but notice every last little thing they didn't do. Everything you are doing, with him. He's damn lucky, and he doesn't even know it. Then there's me, and kids... All the ones I spent time around were just as broken as I was, older souls than they deserved to be. He won't ever know that kind of fear, and I'm fucking glad of it, but it also means I can't talk to him."
"Well, you have to start somewhere. But I get it." The sole survivor pulled her in by the waist and kissed her. "I love you, Cait. I can't tell you not to feel sad about the way things worked out- just don't take it out on him. He's been through a lot, too."
Cait rolled her eyes when they weren't looking, certain that she was always going to be the distant, red-headed stepmother to Shaun's actual parent, but her moment came sooner than expected. Batty old Moe Cronin was still hawking his baseball gear in Diamond City's town square, beckoning to anyone who wandered too close. "Swatters, right here!" he called as the sole survivor and their little family passed by, clearly aware that Shaun had perked up his ears. "Don't let down the home team! Why, even kids will appreciate a swatter in their hands, when they're traveling the Commonwealth!"
"No thanks, Moe," the sole survivor said, waving the salesman off. "He's still a little young for that kind of sport."
"I disagree," Cait cut in, putting a defiant hand on her hip. "Best to start him young, else he won't know what he's doing until it's too late."
Shaun looked between his two guardians. "Please?" he begged the sole survivor. "Mom's okay with it."
Cait could've melted, right then and there in the marketplace. Before the sole survivor had a chance to answer, she'd turned back to Moe, fumbling for her caps. "That one," she said, pointed at a lighter model splashed with indigo paint. "Seems about the right size."
Moe took it down from his display wall and presented it to the boy. "A genuine model, there. Perfect for a first-time owner. You take good care of her, kid."
Cait pulled the boy close to her hip and ruffled his hair. "He'd better. I was planning on using those caps to buy us Power Noodles."
Shaun smiled and closed his eyes as he hugged the baseball bat close. "Thanks, mom."
Curie: Although her educational modules had only been installed for the purpose of making her a better laboratory assistant in Vault 81, Curie still had the full knowledge repository of a Miss Nanny robot to draw upon stored up in her new synthetic brain. Caring for a 10-year-old boy meant following clear developmental guidelines and standards, and she set about writing a rough curriculum for him so as to give him some semblance of schooling while he wandered the Commonwealth with his guardians.
To her delight, Curie found Shaun to be especially receptive to her lessons. He was very interested in biology and history, perhaps because of the obvious blind spots that came with spending his early life inside the Institute. He wanted to know everything there was to know about the mutated creatures that walked the wasteland, coloring in the pictures of radstags and deathclaws and bloatflies alike in Curie's battered notebook as she sketched them. For history, though, Curie had to turn to those around her. The most recent history of the Commonwealth could be found with the sole survivor, who had spent most of their post-vault life at the center of it. Further accounts came from Preston Garvey thanks to his experience with the Minutemen, and Piper Wright and Nick Valentine had quite a bit more in their extensive periodical and case records. Even Paladin Danse pitched in, offering a rather thorough recollection of the Brotherhood of Steel's history on both coasts of North America and in between that left Shaun playing at being a Scribe for over a week.
Shaun's best subject, though, was language. He had an adequate grasp of English, but he began to press Curie early on to teach him French. She added it in between her other lessons, until they could carry on basic conversations. "Pourquoi vouliez-vous apprendre le français?" Curie asked him one day when it was just the two of them, curious. "Oui, ç'est une belle langue, but it is not especially common in the Commonwealth."
Shaun smiled. "Parce que ça nous appartient, maman."
"Maman?" Curie smiled back. "I did not teach you that word."
"You did," Shaun insisted, crawling into her lap to hug her. "Oui, maman, you did."
Curie ended the lesson early and gave him her pencil and notebook to draw pictures in. When the sole survivor returned that evening from their trade excursion, she presented them with the piece of art he had made, depicting the three travelers locked in battle with a mirelurk queen. The sole survivor looked over it with a smile, ran a thumb over the words he'd scribbled next to Curie's blazing laser rifle. "'Ma maman,'" they read with a grin, drawing her into a one-armed hug. "Congratulations, mom."
Paladin Danse: "I'm a liability to you," Danse argued with the sole survivor the next day, as they packed their things to hit the road again. "To both of you. You know what will happen if a Brotherhood patrol recognizes me."
"So wear this." The sole survivor tossed him a ratty shawl and a red bandanna. "Cover your face. Plenty of people do, in these parts."
"And if they recognize my voice?" Dance argued. "Only the greenest Initiates would be fooled by a disguise this thin."
"You're giving the Brotherhood too much credit." The sole survivor straightened up from organizing their pack. "Just let me do the talking and try not to worry."
"Easier said than done," Danse grumbled, picking up their wasteland fashion offerings with obvious distaste.
They were ready to go by noon, the sole survivor's pack slung over their shoulder and Shaun's hand firmly grasped in theirs. Danse brought up the rear as they crossed the bridge out of Sanctuary, and he tugged the bandanna around his neck up to cover his face once they reached the other side of the river.
When Shaun next turned back, distracted by some dry branches creaking together overhead, he giggled in surprise. "Why are you wearing that?" he asked, pointing to the bandanna.
"It's not safe," Danse grunted, lowering his laser rifle a little.
"But why does that help keep you safe?"
The sole survivor reached down to ruffle their son's hair. "It's a little hard to explain, Shaun. Some people out here don't like Danse. He's trying to hide his face from them, so they don't know it's him."
"But there's no one here," Shaun insisted, throwing his arms out to indicate the barren landscape and its silence.
"Well, you never know," Danse said, taking the bait. "Come here. Look at that tree. That big one, see it? I'd say it's wide enough to hide a man behind it. Maybe even a raider or two, if they're skinny."
"What about that one?" Shaun asked, pointing to a larger tree.
Danse nodded solemnly. "Three raiders. Easily."
He winked at the sole survivor, who was stifling their giggles. Shaun, who was staring open-mouthed at the trees, missed it. "Can I have one too, dad?" the boy asked, tugging Danse's sleeve.
"One of what?" Danse replied, unable to keep his voice from cracking.
"A bandanna." Shaun looked up at him with a smile. "We can hide together."
Danse, lost, looked helplessly to the sole survivor. Without a word, they pulled a navy blue bandanna from their pack and handed it over. Danse knelt down and carefully tied the cloth around Shaun's face. "There you go, soldier," he said when he was finished, and the words felt softer in his mouth than any of the other times he'd said them.
Mayor John Hancock: Though he was brave enough to risk a little affection after the kid was asleep, Hancock gave Shaun plenty of space during the waking hours. He wasn't blind to the way some people looked at him. Most kids stared.
Shaun wasn't any different in that aspect, but the fact that this red-coated, tricorn-bedecked ruin of a man was keeping his parent company proved too much for his curiosity. Once the stage of open-mouthed, morbid fascination had passed, Shaun's face grew more contemplative. He started to watch closely as Hancock did basic things. Eat. Sleep. Tie some cloth over a wound. Brush his teeth. He didn't seem embarrassed when Hancock made it obvious these attentions were noticed by waggling his brows or pulling funny faces in the middle of a meal- he just looked like he was filing the information away in his head. He wasn't immune to Hancock's infectious humor though, and he eventually started to giggle and make faces back. The sole survivor rolled their eyes at the pair of them, but Hancock egged them on until they, too, succumbed to the silliness.
When the trio paid their first visit to Goodneighbor and people on the street began to greet Hancock as "mayor," Shaun's eyes grew as wide as Port-A-Diner saucers. Hancock relished the attention, stopped in at every trading stall and tipped his hat to every vagabond they passed. Though Shaun kept a tight hold of his parent's hand, it was obvious he was a little lost between the attention that the sole survivor and the returning town leader were receiving. Things came to a head when a crowd gathered around the travelers and Shaun's grip on the sole survivor's hand was jostled loose. As would-be admirers moved in and separated them, Shaun's voice was thin and high under the boisterous conversations. "Ha-Han... dad!"
"Whoa." Hancock threw his arms out, pushed the crowd back. "Give us some space, folks. Yeah, you, back up or I'll sic Fahrenheit on you."
Shaun was clinging to his leg, and he relaxed a little as Hancock lifted him up to eye level with the adults. Hancock puffed with the effort. The kid was heavier than he looked. "Now this here," he said, grunting as he re-positioned the boy on his hip, "Is Shaun. He's with me."
"Is he yours, Hancock?" teased Rufus Rubins from somewhere in the crowd.
"As good as," Hancock replied proudly. He looked at Shaun and smiled. "It's okay, kid. I've got you."
When the boy smiled back at him shyly, Hancock plopped his tricorn onto the boy's head. "Ever thought about becoming a deputy mayor?" he asked. "Don't worry. It's a pretty easy job."
Robert Joseph MacCready: More than anything, MacCready wondered if he was being fair. He'd just gotten his own son back, and Duncan's renewed presence in his life was a constant reminder of just how much he'd missed. How long had it been, since he'd left his little boy with friends and trudged north, hoping against hope that he'd find a cure for the illness that wracked his little frame? How many pounds had he put on since he'd sent the miracle medicine home? How many inches had he grown, how many questions had he missed? He couldn't help but marvel at this little boy who was so big now, so much like Lucy and so much like him.
Shaun was older, Shaun was quieter, and Shaun was watching every time MacCready felt the need to pause, staring at his own little creation in awe. He knew it. He started consciously doing the same for Shaun, just so he wouldn't feel left out, and to his surprise, taking the extra time meant he noticed things he initially hadn't. The way he looked warily at the settlements they visited, searching for hiding spots to retreat to. The way his eyes gleamed in the light of his parent's Pip-Boy, entranced by the holotape games they collected. The way his cheeks dimpled when he smiled, the way he pronounced certain words, the way he tied his shoes and drew his letters and grabbed his guardians' hands when he was scared. Yes, Shaun was a miniature sole survivor in countless ways, but there was a little bit of MacCready in the way he approached the wasteland.
MacCready began to mix them up, Duncan and Shaun, and they laughed and corrected him and teased him to no end along with the sole survivor. It only made him smile wider. They were between Bunker Hill and Goodneighbor one day, playing "I spy" as they passed through the ruined city, when Duncan picked a rather obvious target for the guessing game. "I spy with my little eye... something that is... green."
"The water," the sole survivor guessed, pointing toward the Charles River. Duncan shook his head emphatically.
"It better not be a super mutant," MacCready said, only mildly concerned. The streets had been quiet for their entire trip.
"Dad's hat," Shaun guessed.
The sole survivor and MacCready stopped in their tracks. MacCready's hand went to his cap. Duncan nodded and giggled, and he squirmed with joy when his dad plopped the hat in question onto his head.
MacCready swept Shaun up into his arms. Shaun looked at him, wide-eyed, unused to the overt affection. "What?"
The sniper cocked an eyebrow at him. "Dad?"
"Yeah."
MacCready planted a scratchy kiss on the boy's cheek, reveling in the shriek of surprise it elicited. "Okay," he said with pride. "We do look alike."
"We do not."
Piper Wright: It was a promise that Piper had made once before, after her dad had been murdered and she'd been left the sole caretaker for her little sister. She and Nat had managed to navigate their new roles eventually, eked out a living in Diamond City and grown together as best they could. Piper had settled into something that wasn't quite sisterhood, parenthood, friendship or work partnership, and yet encompassed all of the above. The sole survivor had fit into that life alongside her fairly well, what with their transient inclinations, responsibilities to their associates, and being a lightning rod for Commonwealth intrigue, but Shaun presented a new challenge.
"Diamond City's the best place for him," Piper insisted to the sole survivor any chance she got. They were at Home Plate for now, but the wasteland wanderer had that look in their eye that suggested they were growing restless, unsure of their safety and the safety of their child. "There's a school, there's food, running water and a security force and oodles of people who dote on him just because he's a kid in the wasteland with manners, which is a rarity nowadays."
They always looked at her sadly. "A synth kid, Piper. People will notice eventually."
"So what? Nick's a synth, Diamond City got used to him!"
"We need to go soon, Piper, for his sake. It'll be okay."
"Stay, Blue."
The pair went around in circles like that whenever they got a spare moment, saying it every different way but getting nowhere. They were in the middle of one of these arguments when they were interrupted by Nat and Shaun, who blew into the little house with a gust of wind, rain, and flapping newspaper pages. The two kids had their arms locked at the elbows and were giggling wildly, but they stopped short when they saw the way their respective guardians were talking. "Is everything okay?" Nat asked warily.
"Yeah," Piper answered quickly, hiding her expression by removing her cap to scratch her head. The sole survivor had other ideas, and took this moment as an opportunity. They got down on one knee and took Shaun's hands in theirs. "Shaun, buddy, we need... I need to go on a trip. For a while. Do you want to come with me?"
Shaun's eyes flicked between them and Piper, uncertain. "Are mom and Nat coming, too?" he asked.
Nat's eyes widened and Piper's heart leapt into her throat. The sole survivor choked on their words, and tears welled up in the corners of their eyes. They looked up at Piper, their apology plain on their face. "She- we-"
Piper dove in, wrapped Shaun in a hug and twirled him up in her ratty coat. He laughed, surprised, and the reporter beamed down at him.
When the two had ceased their little dance, Piper turned back to the sole survivor and helped them up off the rug. "Come on, Blue," she said, giving them a kiss on the cheek. "We're being stupid. Let's talk this out like a family. Nat and Shaun deserve to know what's up."
Preston Garvey: Preston had thanked his lucky stars several times over the last few months that the sole survivor had risen to the challenge of becoming General of the Minutemen, but now he found himself continually second-guessing that decision. As they pursued the Institute across the Commonwealth, unearthed horrific truth after horrific truth, he'd grieved their spouse and child with them and thrown himself into the work of rebuilding the Minutemen to help them fill that void of loss. He hadn't expected, at the end of things, that the Institute would leave them something else to help fill the void - and now, looking at Shaun, Preston couldn't help but blame himself for centering the sole survivor and leaving them with responsibilities that got in the way of caring for the boy.
So Preston did what he could. When the General was in talks with traders to negotiate caravan protections at the Castle, he took Shaun walking along the shores of Dorchester Bay, hunting for mirelurk eggs. When the General was away from Sanctuary helping settlements, he tucked Shaun into bed at night and read him stories from a worn book of fables that Sturges had bought off of Trashcan Carla. When the General came home late looking like they'd crawled through a yao guai den on their stomach, he hung up their coat, pushed them into the shower, and made dinner with Codsworth while Shaun supervised and decided whether it needed more salt.
"I don't deserve you," the sole survivor said gratefully each time.
"You do," Preston always reassured them. "You both do."
Shaun was less quick to appreciate Preston's care, but slowly he warmed up to the General's right-hand man. He remembered the best spots for picking raspberries that they found together, he started to request tales about the Minutemen as his bedtime stories, and whenever Codsworth asked him about his day, he would shyly look to Preston before relating their adventures together. It was slow going, but each time the boy looked at his parent's partner, there was less and less hesitancy.
One night after a particularly long day on the road, Preston and Shaun were pinching together some ground mole rat potstickers for soup while the sole survivor washed up. Shaun had a case of the giggles and kept leaving floury fingerprints on his own face, which Preston kept trying and failing to wipe off with a kitchen towel. As Shaun fought off another of these attempts, amidst his happy laughter, he pushed the towel away and shrieked, "Dad, stooooop!"
Preston froze. In the bathroom, something clattered to the floor. Even Codsworth paused chopping vegetables to swivel his eye stalks toward the kitchen table. Shaun made a face. "What?"
Gently, Preston put his thumb over one of the flour spots on Shaun's face and rubbed it away. He tousled the boy's hair and chuckled. "Nothing. Nothing at all. Save the razorgrain flour for the dumplings, buddy, okay?"
Porter Gage: Even compared to everything else in Nuka-World, Porter Gage knew he was the rustiest piece of equipment in the park. Well, everyone in Nuka-World was an antique of some sort, hanging onto a bygone or kitted out in tattered costume from days gone by - hell, the Overboss was practically a pre-war collectible - but Gage felt stiff and dusty, even compared to them. He was old, for a raider. Raiders didn't get old. There was safety in being overlooked because of your age and lack of ambition, but it sure didn't make you interesting to the average kid.
Eventually though, that ability to be overlooked came out in Gage's favor, when it came to Shaun. Shaun was an oddity in the park. Anyone who was stuck firmly to the side of the Overboss was an oddity, but beyond that, Shaun was a kid. Raiders didn't get old, and they definitely didn't have kids if they could help it. Most of the gangs were respectful to the Overboss and their kiddo, but when they'd passed out of earshot, they talked. A liability. A loose end. Not even human, a few of them said.
Gage didn't say anything, but he did listen, and he did tell his partner what the situation was when Shaun was asleep for the night. When they had him pressed against the wall of Fizztop Grille's reception, he spun them ideas about what to do until they told him to shut up or rendered him speechless themselves. Honestly, that told him everything he needed to know. They were at a loss for what to do about the kid, too.
If he'd been a younger man, maybe Gage could've let things play themselves out. But he wasn't, so he took the boy under his wing. He gave him his best knife and his second-best pistol and taught him how to use both on the prop cutouts in Dry Rock Gulch. He taught him how to move silently through the overgrowth of Safari Adventure. He taught him the best places to check for supplies in abandoned towns, on one particularly memorable afternoon in Bradberton, when Shaun shot his first feral and only cried for a little bit afterward.
"It's alright, kid," Gage reassured him, rubbing his shoulder while Shaun tried to calm his hiccups. "They don't know themselves anymore. There's no going back. You did him a kindness."
"Doesn't feel like it," Shaun sniffled.
Suddenly, the boy turned into Gage's shoulder, hugged him awkwardly around the metal mess of his armor. "I'm not any good at this like you, dad. I'm sorry."
Gage closed his eyes for a moment. Against his better judgment, he unbuckled his armor, put his arm around Shaun and pulled him into his chest. "No one's good at first, kiddo. But I'll be here until you are. Promise."
BONUS!
Deacon: Though Deacon would never admit it, Shaun terrified Deacon. He'd wanted a kid at some point, obviously, but that version of himself seemed so far removed from who he was now. Different place, different face, different circumstances and perspectives. He wasn't sure he could go back to that mindset now.
Much like the sole survivor though, he didn't have a choice. Shaun was here, curiously peeking at the papers on Desdemona's workstation and getting shooed out of Carrington's clinic. At least Tinker Tom was self-aware enough to tone down his swearing and more dangerous experimentation, but Deacon and the sole survivor agreed that the sooner Shaun got out of HQ, the better.
"They're all intimidated by you," Deacon whispered conspiratorially to Shaun on the day they finally packed up their things. "You're the best Railroad agent here, and they all know it."
"Really?" Shaun whispered back. "I thought you were the best Railroad agent here."
"It goes you, me, Desdemona, then your parent," Deacon counted off on his fingers. He shouldered the pack Shaun had stuffed to the brim and groaned. "Oof, you've got a lot of stuff already. That's how I know you're the best agent. You're already hanging onto supplies in case of the worst. Smart."
The sole survivor pulled Shaun into a half-hug, caressing his head. "I still rank under Desdemona, huh?"
Deacon winked. "You're getting there. Come on, we'll go out the back door."
Once the three emerged, blinking, into the North End, Shaun took one of the sole survivor's hands and one of Deacon's. "Where are we going?" he asked.
The sole survivor squinted at the buildings around them. "North," they answered vaguely.
"To a deathclaw farm," Deacon said solemnly. "Where they hatch the little lizards and teach them how to be big, ferocious beasts."
"Deacon."
"Sorry. Just a rad chicken farm that's helped us out once or twice."
Shaun looked up at Deacon. "Are deathclaw farms real, dad?"
Deacon choked on his witty response and fell into a coughing fit. The sole survivor looked shocked too, but a smile came over their face and they slapped him on the back a few times until his lungs quieted down.
"Uh, eh-heh, no, buddy," Deacon answered, gripping the boy's hand a little more firmly. "But you know what they say: Be the change you want to see in the world. If you want to go all-in on deathclaw farming, I'm right there with you."
Desdemona: Every day after that, Desdemona expected to wake up and find the sole survivor and their son gone. She couldn't leave HQ now, what with the post-Institute clean-up filling all their safehouses and gumming up the usual escape routes, and PAM changing her mind every minute about what predictions were most likely. All of that combined with the general atmosphere of uncertainty around the Railroad's future - what does the Railroad do, when all of the synths that can be rescued have been rescued? - kept her to-do list full and her mind racing. In the past, her busy periods were an invitation for her unlikely partner to depart on their own adventures, check in with things around the Commonwealth that didn't immediately concern the Railroad, and she fully anticipated this from them now that they had a child to care for, too.
But Shaun and the sole survivor stayed. Deacon's finest recruit rolled up their sleeves and joined her at the war table, read her notes back to her and pointed out strategic opportunities, discrepancies, details she might have overlooked. Desdemona was surprised by how well they managed to mesh with her style of leadership. In the past, anyone who had tried to butt in on her planning usually wound up clashing with her, prioritizing in different ways or misunderstanding critical operations they just didn't know the ins and outs of. Somehow, the sole survivor avoided all of these pitfalls and slid right into the fray next to her.
Shaun was less helpful than his parent, prone to doodling on less-important papers and humming along with the songs on Diamond City Radio, but his quiet presence was company enough. While the sole survivor was still catching up on the sleep they'd lost burying the Institute, Shaun seemed content to remain at Desdemona's side late into the night, watching her work.
It was on one of these late evenings, after all of the agents except the night watch had gone to bed, that Shaun let out a yawn as wide as the Charles River and blinked sleepily up at the Railroad leader. "Mom, I'm tired."
Desdemona paused her dead drop status review and looked down at him with a surprised smile. "I've got to stay up, Shaun. This is important."
"But I'm tired."
"Okay." Desdemona put her pencil down and picked him up. He was heavy, but not so heavy that she wasn't able to carry him to the cots in the back and deposit him gently next to the sole survivor. The movement was enough to wake them, and they pulled the boy in close and wrapped him in some of their blanket. Desdemona tucked them in and went back to the glow of the lanterns with the sound of Shaun's words ringing in her ears.
Elder Arthur Maxson: The Squires on the Prydwen tried to adopt the new boy into their number, of course, but to the sole survivor's dismay, Shaun's odd remarks about "life on the surface" soon labeled him as an outcast. The boy turned even further inward, befriending an odd group of individuals: Scribe Haylen, Paladin Brandis, Senior Scribe Neriah, Emmett the cat. All of them were kind and patient with Shaun, but none of them were exactly peers.
"I don't suppose you could order the Squires to be nicer to him," the sole survivor remarked with a hint of bitterness during one of their visits to the Elder's quarters.
"Let him find his own way," Maxson replied kindly. "If I interfere, they will only resent him for it."
It felt harsher when he said it out loud, but the sole survivor respected his judgment. Still, Maxson couldn't help but recall his own difficult childhood spent searching for friendship, for anyone who might see him as a person instead of a future Elder. When he next had free time, he visited Proctor Quinlan's library of holotapes and came away with a stack of games and transcribed books.
Later that evening, the sole survivor walked into their quarters to find Maxson and Shaun on the bed with their Pip-Boy, Maxson cheering the boy on as he navigated his band of adventurers through a dungeon level in Grognak & the Ruby Ruins. "Go left," Maxson urged. "There's a treasure chest down that hallway."
"How do you know?" Shaun asked, screwing his mouth up in concentration as he input the commands.
"I've been playing this game since before you were alive. See, in the corner over there."
The sole survivor joined them on the bed. "Watch out for goblins."
"Oh, dad showed me how to fight them off already."
Maxson stiffened, and looked quickly over Shaun's head at the sole survivor. Their eyes widened meaningfully, and they tilted their head down toward their son. "Did he show you the goblin village yet?"
Shaun looked up at Maxson. "There's a goblin village?"
"There... there is." Maxson swallowed his misgivings for the moment and directed his attention back to the game. He put an arm around the boy and tilted the Pip-Boy so he could see a little better. "Let's get through this dungeon together first."
Nick Valentine: To Nick's surprise, Shaun warmed up to him fast. He wasn't put off by his missing parts, his glowing eyes or the occasional whirring noises that emanated from inside his chest cavity like most kids. In fact, he liked to press his ear up to Nick's shirt and listen, trying to figure out what the noise was. "It's like your heartbeat," he always said.
"What's it saying?" Nick would ask. Shaun would imitate whatever noise he was hearing, and they would both laugh.
"He grew up around synths," the sole survivor reminded Nick when they were alone. "Er... well, he's been around synths for as long as he's... you get my meaning."
Nick raised his cup of tea to them. "I do. I'm just so used to kids being wary. It's a nice change of pace. How's he doing in class?"
"Great in science and math, horrible at spelling. He could use some practice that isn't just me peering over his shoulder, you know how he hates doing schoolwork if he can't relate it to the real world. Is there any way you could...?"
Nick held up his metal hand. "You don't even need to ask. I'll get him to help Ellie take notes on some cases."
The sole survivor smiled. "How's Ellie's spelling?"
"Impeccable."
A few days later, the little family was ensconced in Nick's office with Ellie poring over a case that had come in from Vault 81 about a missing person. Ellie had given Shaun his own clipboard and pencil, and the pair were scribbling furiously while Nick went over everything that had been written in the letter from the vault's overseer, Gwen McNamara. "Says here that she might have gone to seek her fortune with one of the local caravans," Nick noted. "If she hitched a ride with one, she might have paid them to cover her tracks, but it'd still be worth paying a visit to Bunker Hill to see if they've seen her. Shaun, do you know how to spell 'investigate'?"
"I-N-V-E-S-T-A-G-A-T-E," Shaun answered confidently.
"It's 'I' after T, not 'A'," Ellie corrected him.
"Oh." Shaun deflated a bit. "Sorry, dad."
Ellie dropped her pencil and the sole survivor choked on the Nuka-Cola they were drinking. Nick lowered the letter, perplexed, but when he caught the shy look on Shaun's face, he couldn't contain a grin of pride. "It's okay, son," he said. "We'll keep practicing together, okay? We've got nothing but time."
Old Longfellow: "The island's no place for a child," Longfellow told the sole survivor when they first brought the boy to the docks of Far Harbor.
"You wanted one, once," they had retorted, grabbing him by the lapels of his coat and planting a kiss on his bearded face. "Were you planning to leave, once you'd had the baby?"
"That was different. Wasn't as bad then as it is now."
"Take us back to your cabin on your sand bar, old man. Shaun and I are survivors. And if it gets worse, we'll get on my boat and go back to the Commonwealth."
So Old Longfellow rowed them home to his shack under the pines, and he double- and triple-checked the fog condensers he'd bought off the scientists at Acadia. Shaun followed him around, taking in the little island's woods, beach, and craggy landscape with a pair of eyes wider than a mirelurk's shell. This relationship continued for well over a month: Daily excursions to check the traps and mechanical equipment that kept them all from dying, weekly trips into town to trade and stock up, and the occasional trudge down to the beach to see if anything interesting had washed up. Sometimes the sole survivor remained behind, skinning a radstag or shucking oysters, leaving the old man and the boy to their daily chores outside in the chilling sea breeze. On one of these occasions, Longfellow was making his way toward the wood pile he'd been stocking up and didn't realize that Shaun wasn't right behind him as usual. He might never have noticed, if he hadn't caught the quiet word on the wind at his back: "Dad."
Longfellow spun and found Shaun frozen, staring at the edge of the woods. Staring back was a radstag, glowing faintly from internal radiation, with only one head and pair of antlers.
It was a ways off, but Longfellow still moved to grab the boy and pull him out of harm's way. The movement startled the creature and it huffed before alighting into the trees, its tail flying a warning as it bounded off. Longfellow pulled Shaun close and sighed, trying to catch his breath again. "Stay close, boy."
"They all used to look like that," Shaun replied softly, watching the deer's retreat. "I never thought I'd see one without two."
"Rare as hen's teeth," Longfellow agreed. "Must be our lucky day."
X6-88: X6-88 knew that technically, his role with the director was a protection assignment, but excursions to the surface and a growing trust between them had blossomed into something else. He also knew that technically, Shaun was an assignment too, one that Father had bestowed upon the sole survivor just before his death. In the safety of their Institute quarters though, they could be something more to each other. They could talk about what it was to be a synth, to live apart from the world at large, and what within their little underground haven could be changed for the betterment of something beyond mankind.
He and the sole survivor were cautious at first to talk about these sorts of things around Shaun, but the synth boy soon proved bright enough to understand the dangers of self in this place, be they realization, expression, or actualization. "It's not fair," Shaun would say at dinner. "I want to become a scientist. I want to grow up. And I can't even talk about it anywhere else."
"We're working on it," the sole survivor always said. "Dr. Li and I have some ideas. You won't always be a child, Shaun."
X6 knew that they were doing their best, but they were hiding the fact that Dr. Li had pushed back on the project multiple times. She'd believed the synth child was a waste of time and effort from the beginning, and extending that effort would take more than just a few ideas from the sole survivor. He knew they would keep trying, but it would never be fast enough for a 10-year-old boy. And every step they took toward that goal would bring the scrutiny of the Directorate, some of whom were eager to find any reason to discredit the brand-new upstart that had passed them up to lead the Institute.
"We should leave," X6 suggested as he lay in bed next to the sole survivor after another night like this. "Before it's too late."
"We can't," they replied in a whisper. "They don't have the tech on the surface to help Shaun, and we have so much we could offer the rest of the world. If we leave, we'll never see this place again."
"It would be difficult, but we would be together."
"Just give me a little more time, X6. Please."
The Courser lay awake long after the director had gone to sleep, trying and failing to come up with a better plan. As such, he was still awake when Shaun stole into bed with them, rubbing tears from his face with his little hands. X6 settled the boy in between himself and the sole survivor and wiped the rest of the tears away with the sheet.
"I had a bad dream, dad," Shaun explained, sniffling. "I've been having them a lot."
X6 didn't have the heart to correct the child. "I know," he said instead. "I've been having them too. Dreams can't hurt you, Shaun. If they try, I'll protect you."

Baby Lucille meets uncle Wayne!
Tumblr media
Dad!Eddie Munson x Mom!Reader
Tw:Mentions of Lucille’s birth and hospital stay, Eddie being very much slightly nervous when holding Lucy.
Dad!Eddie master-list!
Tumblr media
After your hospital stay, it was time for you Lucille and Eddie to all go home. After what felt like a bazillion papers both you and Eddie had to sign to be discharged you were finally able to leave. And by that k mean watch Eddie struggle to buckle Lucy’s car seat into his van as you sat in a wheelchair with Lucy in your arms.
“You got it babe?” You ask and he huff turning around with a disappointed look on his face before he slowly shakes his head no.
You hold Lucille out for him to take her and he holds her while you stand from the wheelchair and quickly buckle her cases at in before taking her and buckling her in to.
Before you know it your back in your room taking a well deserved nap while Lucille lays in the cradle the two of you had gotten for your room while she was still young. When she got a bit older and could sleep through a full night than the two of you would transfer her into her nursery.
When you wake up from your nap it’s to see Eddie pacing around the room as he bounces the tiny girl in his arms trying his hardest to quiet her little cries.
You smile fondly before sitting up crossing your legs on the bed as you hold your arms out to hold her so Eddie can get a break as well.
As soon as he sees you’re awake and willing to hold her he looks like a huge weights been taken from his shoulders as he gently sets her into your arms.
He moved to sit behind you as he admires both of you, to him Lucille looked just like you but when he voices this you’re not sure what the fuck he’s talking about, she has his pretty round brown eyes, his ringlet curls though hers are very sparse and wispy only a hand full of little fine curls on her head but you can already tell she’ll have hair similar to Eddie’s.
“I just don’t think I know how to hold her right.” Eddie tells you as you lean back into him.
“You are holding her right” you hun a bit as her eyes flutter shut, “she’s a baby, she’s gonna cry Eds she’s probably just tired.” He nods looking down at her as her face scrunches up her tiny eyebrows furrowing slightly before they relax.
You sit up slightly using one of your hands to position Eddie’s arms almost the exact same way yours were when she fell asleep.
You place little Lucille into Eddie’s arms and watch as she snuggles closer to Eddie seeking out his baby heat.
“Why don’t you hum for her or something?” He thinks for a moment before humming that god damned song he played for what felt like the last 100 years, “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”
You send him a look that screams, ‘really?’ And he giggles softly.
“I think we should bring her to see our families soon” you tell him pushing her little wisps of hair away from her face.
He nods slightly.
“Wayne’s off of work tomorrow, I figured he could meet her first than my parents.” You offer knowing that Eddie’s uncle, Wayne, lives a hell of a lot closer than your parents did, your parents lived across town while Eddie’s uncle lived down the road.
So the next morning when the two of you woke up you sifted through all the clothes Lucille had and picked out one of the best outfits to get her into after she was fed and changed paired with a cute bib so she wouldn’t ruin the outfit in the first five minutes.
When the two of you got to Eddie’s uncle’s he was already on the porch waiting for the two of you, he wasn’t really used to living alone. For awhile it had just been him and Eddie living in the trailer so now that he lived alone he found himself looking forward to the little visits the two, now three of you would make.
You could see the way he smiled at the sight of Lucille’s car seat when Eddie retrieved it from the back seat of his van.
One the four of you where sat down in the living room Eddie slowly picked up Lucille from her car seat telling his uncle all about his experiences as a dad in the short two weeks he had been one. He gently placed Lucy into Wayne’s arms and he let out a soft little coo.
“She looks a lot like you Eddie” his uncle tells him “but I see some of (y/n) in her to”
You sigh still not seeing yourself in the precious girl, maybe it was the nose? But you were almost certain she had Eddie’s nose, a mystery for another day.
“Her names Lucille” Eddie informs him smiling at the little interaction as Lucy balls her fists letting out little noises.
“Lucy for short.” You add, smiling fondly as Eddie begins to tell him the origin of Lucy’s name.
“All because (y/n) said there were better options than Ozzy!” Eddie rolls his eyes as his uncle laughs.
“Alright we’ll we better go if we ever want to make it to (y/n)’s parents.” Eddie tells his uncle as he gently buckles Lucille into her car seat.
You think that for her first meeting with her great uncle she did fine, both of you know that inevitably she’ll love visiting just like Eddie did when he was younger.

This might sound odd but while Jodio get's a lot of deserved flak why do a lot of Jojo fans seem to overlook Dragonna's sketchy deeds, such as helping his brother commit crimes?
jodio and dragona have a very understandable dynamic from what we’ve been shown so far. they’re both relatively chill people in a normal day-to-day-listening-to-dua-lipa situation and siblings, with dragona as the older sibling taking on a more responsible leadership position while jodio as the younger brother being more impulsive and somewhat… well, naive would be a harsh word, but he has a lot of trouble with the consequences of his actions and he actually fell for the “cops have to tell you if they’re working undercover” trick. it’s a classic dynamic that works well in a lot of stories because the characters balance each other out this way.
but dragona does do a lot of crime shit. arguably, as the older sibling, they’re even more guilty than jodio since eldest children are expected to know what they’re doing and set a good example for the rest of their family, and in the most recent chapter, we see them completely misread a situation in a way that causes them to fall victim to the enemy stand user’s trap. they’re not as different as some people might think.
imho, there’s two main culprits at play here:
number one is the fact that we haven’t gotten a lot of dragona themself’s perspective on their motivations. we’ve seen them in business mode, working through problems and trying to corral paco and usagi, but it hasn’t been revealed to us why exactly they got into organized crime and how they feel about this lifestyle. the first thing that jodio does is let us know that he’s in it for the money and has very few problems with any of this as long as he doesn’t get caught and nobody he cares about gets hurt. additionally, we’ve been shown parts of his day where he sells drugs to his classmates and has to dodge the police. none of what dragona usually does when they’re not on diamond heists has really been shown, so when they’re not really seen committing crimes outside of a group, i think it can be easy for people to forget that they do that by themself as well as when others are watching.
number two is fandom. jodio and dragona have a relationship where you can draw a lot of parallels between giorno and bruno, and the fandom seems to have gone in a similar direction with them. there’s a lot of archetypes that fans tend to pigeonhole characters into even when it does a disservice to the many complexities they may have in their writing (not saying that all fans do this, but it is a pattern that repeats itself enough to be worth examining) such as the disaster gremlin, the team mom, the uwu soft baby, etc. bruno’s fan characterization ended up getting shoved into the team mom archetype pretty hard, and i think we’re seeing something similar play out with dragona. they’re both the de facto leaders of their team with somewhat tough but fair attitudes who really care about their team members, so having them take on a somewhat parental role is far from unreasonable, exaggerating that role for comedy is good humor, and running with it until you get a soccer mom who packed snacks for the local organized crime members is pretty much an unavoidable side effect at this point.

Mockingbird
Prompt: You get kidnapped by hydra on a mission and Bucky has to comfort your daughter as he puts her to bed. Sam watches and is...slightly concerned.
TW: dark themes, implied violence/killing, fluff, Bucky as a dad (because I feel like that deserves a warning of its own), LANGUAGE!
Where is she? It's a day past when she was supposed to be back.
"Daddy?" Hailey says walking up to me with her blanket in hand. My face softens and I squat down to her level.
"Yes sweetheart?" I say.
"Wheres mommy?" She asks.
"Mommy's still out right now." I say trying to hide the flicker of pain and fear in my eyes.
"Is mommy okay?" She asks.
"Mommy's fine sweetheart. She just got a little bit lost." I say.
"Mommy's lost?" She asks upper lip trembling.
"Now hush little baby. Everythings gonna be alright. Stiffen that upper lip up little lady, I told ya. Daddy's here to hold ya through the night. I know mommy's not here right now, and we don't know why we feel how we feel inside. It may seem a little crazy, pretty baby, but I promise mama's gon' be alright." I say picking her up and holding her crying form to mine stoking her hair.
"And if you ask me to, daddy's gonna buy you a mockingbird. I'ma give you the world. I'ma buy a diamond ring for you, I'ma sing for you. I'll do anything for you to see you smile." I say sweetly before noticing she's asleep. I stand up and carry her to her bed. I stroke her hair one last time. Sam sneaks in to check on me unknown to me.
"And if that mockingbird don't sing, and that ring don't shine. I'ma break that birdie's neck. I'll go back to the jeweler who sold it to ya. And make him eat every carat. Don't fuck with dad."
I turn around to see Sam standing in the doorway with a shocked expression on his face.
"Fuck'd you expect? I'm the winter soldier after all." I say pushing past him pulling on my jacket. "Watch her, I'm going to get her mom back."

wait last anon got my attention and ive also been wanting to send you a long ass ask dissecting simon's behavior lol~ also cw this talks about drug abuse!
I don't want to be a simon shooter, but I feel like he deserves empathy considering he abuses substances and has trauma from his childhood. Not to excuse his behavior at all. I feel for anani and simon because i was in a relationship with someone who abused substances (xanax) this was in my senior yr of high school & it sucked seeing someone you care about constantly high of their ass vs. the person you met. The drugs affect not only the person, but the people around them and its awful.
There is such a stigma towards people who abuse substances (I personally dont like to use the word addict thats just me tho!!) I feel like people tend to think ppl who abuse drugs act out on purpose and want to purposely hurt their loved ones, when that isnt the case.
Anani was without a doubt, simon's diamond in the rough. It does make me feel a certain was that his mother called her to BASICALLY, fix her son. Girl.............that is your child, Im pretty sure his mother asked her to "get him help" because she couldnt face the music, she couldnt see history repeat itself, but you cannot send someone over that he hurt so many times to fix things.
I believe Anani continuously stayed by his side because she thinks itll be different everytime. She could fix him, its possible in her eyes because of their bond, but that is not true at all. He needs to realize for himself that he needs help. If he cares about the people he loves he would go and get help. Anani is def a push over in this case (im sorry my queen PLS STAND UP I KNO U LOVE HIM BUT PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS STAND UP!!)
I dont think its possible for them to have a platonic friendship after everything, but I do believe Simon needs a good support system around him and MAYBE anani could be apart of that support system...minus the physical bc from what it seems, simon uses Anani like temporary medicine to ease his pain & it hurts to see Anani care and love him, but get hurt in the end :c
I love what you're doing with this story & I am so excited for what is yet to come. <3
You couldn't be righter and the number one reason I created an OC with substance abuse problems is because I know how one sided it can be for people to misjudge them, even the people who love them. It's not as easy as quit and get better and I wanted that to reflect who Simon is.
Anani became that drug replacement for him as well and even loving someone to that extent can be unhealthy because without them you don't know who you are (also a reason why he left in the first time around) the town, his parents, even Anani, he needed to separate himself from becoming the person his brother was but unfortunately, it's not easy when you're in that party/rockstar lifestyle. He's stuck be
To Anani, he also became like a drug, someone who filled that musical emptiness that her mom's passing left. Like you said, she wants to fix him, it's in her nature and him knowing that makes walking away a little bit easier to understand, however wrong it was to do it in that situation. It's very on brand for him the "not wanting to hurt someone while hurting them."
I think their relationship thrives on that push and pull, that "I hate you but I love you." I just don't know if it would work if they were ever just good to each other without the toxic-ness.
<333 ILY and thank you for sending this amazing dissection of these characters.

I socialized too much and I can’t draw now, so I’m gonna get my thoughts out by infodumping my au. It’s gonna be all over the place and full of different subjects cause I’m combining all the drafts I had together, but I’ll make it work.
To begin, I was thinking about abt what would happen if Steven met an off color, like a gem who emerged “wrong” and was in hiding, or a fusion in need of help.
And I totally think he would want to help them, but he’s a human with no power, so what does he do? Sneak them into his and Star’s room to ask the pink diamond for help.
I think it would be cute if Steven and Star secretly helped out off colors as much as they could, and when the CGs kept trying to convince him that Star wasn’t a good person and had been manipulating Steven, he’d be like “…mmmm you ever actually met him? Cause he’s like a (insert some sort of gem term version of saint)”.
(It also just occurred to me that Steven and Star are twins, and while Steven was born, it took Star a second to form, which means Steven is the older twin. I feel like that’s funny)
I’ve been thinking about Steven’s outfit and why he’s got the clown getup in the first place. Because Star would never dress baby Steeb that way cause he doesn’t want Steven to feel like his job is to entertain others. Although I don’t think Steven considers clowns or jesters as entertainers specifically, but moreso that their jobs are to make people happy.
And his first friend was Spinel, who’s purpose is to make other people happy and be their friend, and if Steven could be any gem he’d probably want to be a spinel. I think he wants all these things and dresses this way out of some unspoken guilt. He realized really young how much Star was sacrificing and suffering for Steven and how out of his control it all really was. I think of those kids who have parents who have financial problems, so they feel guilty and like a burden for having needs.
Anyways getting off track again, I think he dresses not like a clown but like a spinel because he wants to make Star and all the other hardworking gems happy, probably because he doesn’t think he’s good for anything else.
It’s kind of sad and of course part of it is just because he (and I) thinks clown outfit are cool and fun and colorful, but I wanted to explain that a bit cause Steven would only ever have that conversation with his future therapist lol
Also, I think the idea of Steven never being attracted to anyone ever until Connie is pretty funny. Like no doubt there was no education whatsoever regarding romantic relationships on Homeworld, sure he’s heard about gems who loved each other so much that they fused for seemingly no purpose, but he can’t fuse and he’s not a gem. And Star told him bits and pieces about the zoo (and maybe Rose) but that’s still not enough.
And then he meets Connie and for awhile he doesn’t realize it but he finds this other human so beautiful and cool and talented, he likes her hair and voice and probably thinks she deserves to be told that, while Connie who developed a crush on him first is trying not to die at constantly listening to Steven say things to her that sounds like blatant flirting even when she knows he probably doesn’t even get it.
I also think for awhile he would just be completely oblivious to his feelings, and then he gets to Earth and meets Garnet, and Greg tells him about his relationship with Rose, and he just sees a wide variety of human bonds and at some point it would just click.
I think once Steven and Connie come to terms with their feelings and confessed to each other, Connie would want Steven to seriously educate himself on human relationships and communication. Just because she doesn’t want him to walk into something he’s not entirely prepared for, and she’d want him to be sure he actually likes her too.
OHHH I just realized I never talk about what Star actually does in his time as a diamond!!
I always think it’s silly cause he inherited the pink diamond court from his mom, but the first pink diamond and him are two very different personalities, and he doesn’t actually care that much for what he does (probably bc his coded purpose isn’t to be the new pink diamond). Steven has fun with it tho.
Anyways, I always felt like Blue and Yellow Diamond were taking care of production, like I felt like they oversee things like gem kindergartens, colonizing planets, maybe designing new technology, etc,. While White Diamond would oversee gem laws, the identity of her amazing empire, basically just, making sure everything is a “perfect reflection of her”. She already colonized so many planets, I wonder if she stopped cause she used up all her essence… I’m getting off topic again nvm.
But Pink, the littlest diamond, definitely took care of culture and celebrations, like come on she used to throw balls for her diamond families’ accomplishments. And Star totally inherited that.
I also imagine his court would be considered a bit controversial compared to the other courts, which often times has him being set apart from the other diamonds even further… lots of older gems and the diamonds don’t have a lot of respect for him, I mean all gems under the diamonds treat him as a diamond, but he’s not oblivious to the very quiet rumors that are said about him.
And I mean, he doesn’t need nor want their respect, it certainly wouldn’t be mutual if he had it. He’s got the respect of his own court, and he cares for his gems too. Steven always comes first, but he does feel responsible for his gems. And I think a lot of his gems ended up embodying his views in some ways. Especially if he’s made gems.
Has he made gems with his own diamond essence? That is if he did assist Blue and Yellow with gem production for his court.. but do we know how long it takes to make a batch of gems? He’s only like, sixteen years old, and it’s gonna take way longer then that, if he had a human life span would he even live to see his gems? If not that’s kinda sad. But also the other diamonds might not even let him near gem production or colonizing planets. Not for a longggg time.
As for Star’s personal views, which I think I’ve mentioned a few times, is a bit in the grey area.
Ultimately, he is a prisoner on his own planet, an a lot of his choices and actions were because the diamonds were holding Steven’s life over his head. His morals and values, as well as other things, needs more time to build because he’s not actually that free to explore it all. I think after the empire is liberated, and he’s gotten a good amount of rest, he’d spend some time trying to figure out who he really is beyond Steven’s other half.
As I’ve said, Steven comes first. He was made for Steven, albeit it was an accident, but Star takes it very seriously and loves his kid very much. But he’ll do good when possible. Like I said at the beginning of this post, Steven sometimes brings off colors in need of help to Star. And he’ll do what he can to help. Healing a cracked gem, showing them to safer areas of the kindergarten, getting them off of Homeworld if he can, even pardoning gems in trial who did nothing wrong but would have been considered guilty.
A lot of those values come from Rose Quartz. After all, in a way, she became him. And part of her stuck with him. He feels horrible when he’s forced to hurt an innocent gem. He couldn’t care less if a gem actually did something wrong, though.
Well I had a lot of fun writing this, but it is a bit chaotic, so I hope it was cohesive enough.
