June 16, 2017: Melodrama released
Tumblr media
In June 2017, Lorde’s second and greatest work to date was released. Following the success of her massive 2013 single “Royals”  that she made when she was just 17, the bar was high for the sophomore album. It is pop, art rock and electronic all rolled into one, but it’s really her voice that makes this album. I included this album on my Best Albums of the 2010s list. Happy 5 Melodrama!
June 17, 1987: Pleased to Meet Me released
Tumblr media
In June 1987, The Replacements’ greatest album was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2017. Happy 35th PTMM!
June 18, 2012: The Idler Wheel... released
Tumblr media
In June 2012, Fiona Apple’s 4th album was released. It has been seven years since the release of Apple’s excellent album Extraordinary Machine, so hopes were high. This album is more than just an album you listen to, it is something you experience. I named this my #8 Album of the 2010s. Happy 10 The Idler Wheel...!
June 19, 1992: Batman Returns opens
Tumblr media
In June 1992, Tim Burton’s second Batman movie was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2017. Happy 30th BR!

June 23, 2017: The Big Sick opens
Tumblr media
In June 2017, one of the smartest comedies about relationships in a long time was released. Co-writer / star Kumail Nanjiani, director Michael Showalter and producer Judd Apatow were a meeting of the cinematic minds in this story of an interracial relationship that gets complicated when his grad student girlfriend goes into a coma. This was laugh-out-loud funny one minute / verge of tears the next, but with a real heart to it. I named it my #1 Movie of 2017. Happy 5 TBS!
June 25, 1982: Blade Runner opens
Tumblr media
In June 1982, another classic Philip K. Dick adaptation was released. Here is my piece I wrote in 2017. Happy 40th BR!

Mets Add a Burner
Ok, ok, ok, so Tim Locastro probably won’t make the club out of Spring Training… or potentially at all, for that matter. However, the Mets have added the speedster to the organization on a MiLB deal. The Syracuse, New York native spent 2021 and 2022 with the Yankees before the bombers granted Locastro his Free Agency. In his two seasons with the Yankees, the utility man has a…

Tumblr media
I'm too lazy to type the rest rn... there are more of 20 something pages, each with 30 titles per page. Yes. I'm sure I can finish all by the end of this year. But I'm not gonna type it all here.
TBH I've been reading 4 books per day since I was at least 13. I beat my own record by reading 7 books (Narnia Chronicles) in one day once. I was bored. Anyways I never tried it again or at least I was never interested in doing it so. But yes. I can read them all by the end of the year. I'll bring to you the whole list (I'll take pics but let me tell you my handwriting is messy so don't expect too much of it.)
If you by chance finish the books listed here during the year, send me an ask and I'll drop a couple of titles here.
The book titles might be a bit weird but that's because I'm trying to research for my future project. I promise, I'm a writer lol

Morning Gearing up to head out to Queens but talk to Kenichi and he tells me Jean and the girls went upstate this weekend. They are coming back this afternoon but I think my dropping in on them would be too much. I tell him I will aim for one day during the week.
Nicer weather. The Trump civil fraud trial seems to be on. It is believed that the Orange Man will actually show up.
Note: At the very last moment a government shutdown was adverted.
Sports: (1) Buck Showalter fired. The Mets season something of a disaster. (2) Tim Wakefield dies. 57. The Red Sox knuckleballer who was always so much fun to watch. (3) Sunday Night Football. The Jets put up some resistance but lose to the Chiefs. Taylor Swift in attendance, to watch newish boyfriend Trevor Kelce. Big turnout of Swift fans. Kelce the famed receiver. Bill Beichick says "this was his biggest catch."
to be continued

Quarter Notes: Blurbs & Briefs from Sound Bites - COVID-19 Edition
TAB TO GO HORNLESS AFTER JENNIFER HARTSWICK CONTRACTS COVID-19: The Trey Anastasio Band will finish its tour without a horn section after trumpeter Jennifer Hartswick tested positive for COVID-19.
“She is experiencing minor symptoms and expected to recover fully,” the band said in a statement. “ … Trey Anastasio Band will continue the tour without the horn section. We will miss them all.”
CAN’T YOU HEAR ME VAXXING: The Rolling Stones are offering COVID-19 vaccinations at all stops on their current North American tour, Rolling Stone magazine reports.
STRAND OF OAKS CANCELS TOUR DUE TO COVID-19: Strand of Oaks canceled their fall tour, “given the current state of affairs,” Tim Showalter said in a statement that didn’t mention coronavirus.
“This breaks my heart but we will see each other very soon,” he added.
TAME IMPALA PULL A SWITCHEROO: Tame Impala moved its Nov. 7 concert in Austin from Frank Erwin Center to Germania Insurance Amphitheater.
“The current venue will not comply with our COVID protocols that were put into place to keep our crew, artists and fans safe, so we have no choice but to move to a new venue,” the band said.

Interview with spn editors Don Koch, Jimmy Pickel, and John Fitzpatrick by Tim Millard aired June 3, 2021. (x) Some highlights:
Gag reels editing discussion (0:39)
At some point during S15 they had a program error that corrupted all the media. “The whole season was messed up even before Covid.” “Bob was angry because we couldn’t watch things.”  “The whole season 15 was bad.” (0:49)
Millard had a crew on set in march and interviewed Jensen Misha and Alex on day one of filming 15x19 but production shut down before they finished. (0:50)
“I was getting my editor’s cut ready (for 15x18)” “It was the day before i was turning over my editor’s cut.” “and I wanted to go into the office.” (so he emailed John Showalter about going in to finish and balance his tracks and he said no.) So he took all the media home and did the director’s cut and producer’s cut at home over zoom, emails, and calls. (0:50)
Singer wanted to be in the editing bay for the finale. They ended up editing it in Jeremy Carver’s studio (0:55)
“I wish some of the earlier scripts (for the finale) had a chance. But they just didn’t because of covid. There was some cool stuff in there.” (57) [they then defer to the box set end of the road womp womp]
The crew? cast and crew? watched the finale together in a zoom party simultaneous to airing (1:00)
Brother in Arms was suggested and rejected for when Cas died before it was used for Dean’s death.  [whoa whoa whoa which Cas death!? 12?  not 15!? right. right??! (amidala meme)]
Sounds like they all credit Phil Sgriccia with the sound of the show.  The editors would put in a song and he would usually change it. (Personally freaking out right now about him directing 14x15 Peace of Mind which included the track ‘Pink Shoelaces’)
