The thing is, neither of them is mad that they ended up there together. Will our two favourite idiots figure out by themselves why they are ready to smack people for each other or will it take some princely meddling?

They are the absolute cutest in that fic, and there’s one thing I enjoyed very much. Anything by those two authors (both separately and as a duo) is amazing and this is no exception.

Wille gentles an arm around his shoulders, pointing out exotic birds and plants, explaining their respective habitats, their food habits. The vulnerable skin of his throat is unguarded, the tender flesh near his heart covered only by thin, white cotton. It would be quick, Simon promises himself, painless even. Wilhelm need not unnecessarily suffer.

Simon blinks up at him.

Wille’s shading his eyes, brows knitted together in faint concern as he looks down at him.

Simon feels himself flush. “Sorry, I missed what you said.”

Or, Wille is the second born son of Queen Kristina. Simon is the fool who marries him with the goal of assassinating him and bringing an end to the tyrannical monarchy. It doesn't go according to plan.

I was on the edge of my seat with this one. I love this kind of more medieval setting and the premise of that one?? Simon being there to assassinate Wille? Sign me UP. You won’t be disappointed.

Running from his mother and her unattainable expectations, Wilhelm finds solace at his brother’s house in Bjärstad. It was there he found a sense of belonging, a sense of hope, that, maybe one day, he too could be brave like Erik and leave his tumultuous household.

It only took one night for the boy next door to catch his eye. The boy who lived in the house where screaming and fighting seemed to be a constant, who shooed away help like his life depended on it but seemed to crave it so deeply in his soft brown eyes.

“I just wanna be friends with you. Everyone needs a friend.”

"Bullshit.”

Because since the first night they met, Simon saw the way Wilhelm looked at him. It was the way this whole fucking town looked at him but worse. Like he was broken, weak, someone who needed to be saved by the cute, privileged boy next door even though he’d been protecting his family for as long as he could remember - even the one who was destroying them.

"Why do you say that?”

“Because I see the way you look at me, Wille."

Because I think I might look at you the same way and I don’t just wanna be friends with you, either.

This one was very interesting to read and pretty angsty (at least to me, I don’t read much heavy angst). I loved how important of a role Erik had too. Very interesting dynamics.

This is an old news, probably already on Tumblr but i was just thinking about Sigrid, her music and came across this anecdote:

“I was invited to perform with the Norwegian royal family at their castle because they had Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge,” says Sigrid. “At the time, I was just so unaware of being an artist or how you are supposed to be in that type of environment. I showed up and it was really cool, and I started to sing. I was honestly s***-faced nervous but I was thinking I have to treat it as a performance.”

Afterwards, Sigrid recalls frantically plugging her breakout song “Don’t Kill My Vibe”, a defiant call to arms about music industry sexism, to each and every person there. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were particularly encouraging. “They were so lovely,” she says. “So I invited them to my Shepherd’s Bush show and of course they couldn’t come. But they sent a lovely note. It was like, ‘We can’t make it to the show but thanks for inviting us,’ and then Prince William signed at the bottom of the letter: ‘I have downloaded the album.’” It was 2017 and the album William was referring to was in fact Sigrid’s four-track EP, Don’t Kill My Vibe. My brain is whirring in the blender right now so here are the things I think twst characters would find interesting/horrifying

Atom bombs. Why would they need atom bombs? Wars were either fought with magic or swords if lilias backstory is standard war procedure. And in endless halloween, leona tells a (fake) story about a terrorist group on a yaht party or something that attacked with a magic cube. Also that whole moment with Oppenheimer where he didn't know if igniting that bomb would set off a chain reaction that would ignite all the other bombs and basically destroy the world. AND HE STILL FUCKING DID IT.

Gun. Same reasons as the atom bombs.

French revolution and the reign of terror. What do you mean 40,000 were executed and over 300,000 locked up in the time span if a few years? Why did the "french" switch between so many governments so fast? Who the hell is napoleon?

Russian revolution and Anastasia. that revolution was MESSY. But imagine telling leona or someone about how everyone thought that princess Anastasia and her brother escaped execution cause they couldn't find their bodies with the rest of the royal family. So all these middle aged women just started coming out being like "I am Anastasia", and one of these women was eventually accepted as Anastasia. Until they found out that thr royal family were submerge in vats of acid after they were killed, and because children's bones aren't quite solid, the just. Melted in the acid.

The whole mystery of those villages getting up one day and dancing themselves to death and we still don't know why.

Medieval torture devices. Like the crowd cage or when you get covered in honey and sent away on a boat to be eaten alive by bugs (jamil throws up)

The black plauge. Just. The black plauge.

Early Industrial revolution working conditions. I think even azul would get uncomfortable with those.

Mansu Musa going on tour and giving away so much gold that he collapsed entire economies.

The cold War. "Yeah so the US and the USSR were in a war-not-war because of paranoia of nuclear atom bombs but they couldn't actually go to war because if they actually went to war that would just be the end of the world so they just had a massive dick messering contest. Oh yeah! That's actually why we got the space race!"

The space race. ("The fucking moon in the sky!" "Yes azul, the moon in the sky. And Mars. And there are satellites that literally went to the cold cold edge of our solar system" "...why are you guys insane?")

American prohibition laws and the outlawing of alcohol that everyone hated so much that the government legalized alcohol again and now we have this thing called moonshine.

Mexican revolution and the solid century where their presidents just kept getting assassinated.

The greatest night in pop "we are the world". Just as a treat for the pop music club.

The entire age of exploration honestly. "What do you mean half your world didn't know the other half of the world was there until a few centuries ago?" "Oh you're gonna shit yourself when you find out what Europeans did next"

What the Europeans did next.

The world wars. Lilia has a fucking stroke while listening to it. But some of it was funny! Not really but yk! A polish bear loading an artillery Canon, an unsinkable cat, that British guy that carried a bow and arrow and played bag pipes when the nazis found him only to be the most unkillable yet unserious guy ever, a US naval captain that literally FLOODED HALF HIS SHIP on D-Day just to tilt that bitch back so they could hit the Germans better, and the US just converting a spare ship into a massive ice cream machine is pretty fucking hilarious.

The coups of the ancient past. I don't really remember who but I think this Indian (?) Prince literally threw his brother out a window, dragged him back upstairs, only to throw him out again for good measure is fucking hilarious.

The mono Lisa wasn't famous until this Guy™ stole it from a museum. The museum employs didn't even realize it was gone until someone asked where it went 💀

The way we name our countries tbh. Most of them translate to some ancient language (Spain translates to "rabbits" and Columbia is "dove"), but twst really has countries like. "Scolding Sands ✨️ and Queendom of Roses ✨️. So our country names are probably really weird to them. Especially the full country names. Do you know Hong Kongs official name? It's long as shit.

The first chainsaw was invented by two socttish doctors in the early 1800s to help with childbirth

If anyone at any point wants to ramble about history they are very welcome to do so in my literal dms and not just my ask box. I love history and I love talking about it!!!

I think out of all of the things you listed the atom bomb, the space race, and the Cold War would probably be the what I think the various twst boys would find most interesting. Even in the history of our own world those things were extremely unusual, the sheer scale of something like a world war is really hard to grasp and I doubt Twisted Wonderland has had a similar event. I think the concept of such a thing would really scare the cast, though I imagine Idia, Leona, and Lilia would be grimly impressed at just how creative people can be when it comes to destroying each other. Magic isn't required to make a mess of things, sure they already knew that but oh wow. Now they're really thinking about it.

Now you know who would want to talk about all of these things? Professor Trein! He'd be really interested in learning anything and everything Yuu can remember about the history of their world. As an educator it allows him better insight into his student, and as a lover of history he gets to learn a lot of new things no one else knows.

As sunlight pierces the surface waters, it bathes the photic zone in a mesmerizing glow. This well-lit region supports an abundance of marine life. Here, the cities of Mare flourish, their structures crafted from luminescent materials that harness the sunlight filtering through the waves. The merfolk inhabitants, with their affinity for illumination, enhance this zone with enchantments that create breathtaking displays of bioluminescence, turning the ocean depths into a living tapestry of color and light.

Aphotic Zone

In the dark and mysterious depths of the aphotic zone, Merfolk with unique adaptations thrive, attuned to the energies of Morphix. Their bioluminescent features, whether glowing orbs or intricate patterns that shimmer like ancient runes, attune them to the lifeforce, allowing them to draw sustenance and power from its essence. The cities of the Aphotic Zone exist as captivating marvels beneath the shroud of darkness. The cityscape shimmers with a mosaic of colors, vibrant and ever-changing, as Merfolk artisans infuse their creations with Morphix. The architecture within these cities is a testament to the mastery of bioluminescent craftsmanship.

Infinite Ocean

The Infinite Ocean is an endless expanse that transcends the boundaries of realms. The Infinite Ocean stands as a testament to the unifying force of water, an eternal realm that unites the disparate seas of Andros into a harmonious, interconnected whole.

The Labyrinth of the Abysses

A complex labyrinthine system spread across the abyssal depths, shrouded in an aura of ancient pathways. It constantly shifts, creating a maze where paths change. The Labyrinth serves as a threshold to the heart of the abyss, guiding seekers toward the source of Morphix. Explorers and seekers often traverse this labyrinth, facing trials and tests of wisdom.

The Deep Blue - Heart of the Abysses

The Deep Blue represents the epicenter where Morphix emanates, radiating a mesmerizing blue luminescence that illuminates the darkest depths. Revered as a sacred sanctuary by merfolk and creatures of the abyss, embodying the ocean's life force and primal energy. Various merfolk societies hold rituals or ceremonies, offering reverence and seeking blessings for their communities.

Morphix

Morphix, a luminescent and multifaceted energy, is the lifeblood of the infinite ocean, replacing conventional needs such as sunlight or fire, granting vitality, sustenance, and life to oceanic flora, fauna, and ecosystems. Its essence adapts to diverse oceanic environments, catering to the needs of creatures dwelling across varying depths and regions.

It emanates from sacred locations such as the Deep Blue at the heart of the abyssal depths, generating life, fostering growth, and offering spiritual sustenance to the ocean's inhabitants. It powers the ocean gates, serving as a cosmic key that enables safe passage and interconnectivity between different underwater realms.

Morphix is highly revered, enshrined in lore and cultural practices, and embodies unity and interconnectedness among diverse underwater communities. Its purity and uninterrupted flow are guarded by custodians and gatekeepers who ensure its sanctity, protecting against disruptions, and maintaining its integrity for the stability of the ocean gates and vitality of the oceanic realms.

Mood Board Notes

I decided to try adding a mood board last minute to this post, so forgive me if it isn't the best. I've created mood boards a couple years ago when I first started my rewrite, but I'm not sure if I feel conformable sharing them as they are. I don't fully get the ethics/legality of mood boards using copyrighted materials, so I just wanted to play it safe with some images I found from a free to use image website.

I'm thinking of possibly creating a collage instead for the character mood boards I currently have. I think those are more transformative? If anyone has some insight on this I'd appreciate any info and advice you have. I'd also like to know if this is even something anyone would be interested in seeing before I put all this effort into figuring out how to add some visuals. @_@

Andros Notes

I've always envisioned Andros, especially Terra, to be like a mixture of the Caribbean and Polynesia across it's various cities if it were to be real. This is only my first draft, so I'll most likely be adding more information in the future to what I see fit.

[Wings of Fire] IceWing Headcanons

Getting closer to the end of the tribe headcanon series. When I'm done with the tribes, I'm going to do continent headcanons, history headcanons, and tribe evolution headcanons.

IceWings had animus magic at one point, lost it and all of their animus-touched objects, and then got the magic back many centuries later. Some suspect that the magic was lost intentionally following one of their animi going insane.

IceWings are the most artistic tribe and are popular for their paintings, carvings, architecture, and music.

IceWings have the weakest immune system due to their lack of exposure to disease in the arctic.

IceWings mate for life and ones who don't are often judged and seen as lesser than.

IceWings have heated greenhouses near the kingdom's capital where they grow fruits and vegetables. These were gifted to them by an ancient animus IceWing.

Animal furs are the Ice Kingdom's leading industry in the economy. They also export narwhal horns and caribou antlers.

IceWings have the most variety when it comes to horn shape. Horn shape is usually genetic and varies most with the regions of the Ice Kingdom.

It is standard in the IceWing tribe for all IceWing dragonets to be raised practicing an artistic or athletic talent. This can be an instrument, form of art, physical talent (formal dancing, swimming, hunting, etc), or singing.

The biggest threat to IceWings in the Ice Kingdom is the environment itself. IceWings have to be cautious about blizzards and avalanches.

The IceWing Royal Family is represented by blue diamonds.

Traditional IceWing music is played with violins, violas, cellos, basses, harps, flutes, clarinets, pianos, chimes, gongs, and horns. IceWing music is typically formal and slow, just the right tempo for waltz-like ballroom dancing. IceWings pride themselves on their compositions and orchestral arrangements.

IceWings can have a range of patterns including gradients, dapples, speckles, feathery markings, and rarely, crystal-like patterns such as opalescence.

Besides the basic white, light grey, and pale blue scales, IceWings can also have purple and pink tinted scales, turquoise-colored scales, yellow-orange scales like a sunset or emperor penguin, and brown-tan scales.

One of the Ice Kingdom's most notable locations other than its palaces is the Crystal Plaza. The Crystal Plaza is a huge marketplace located slightly northwest of the center of the Ice Kingdom where IceWings from all over the kingdom sell and buy products from vendor stands. The Crystal Plaza is similar to the Scorpion Den but does not have any organized crime groups. The Crystal Plaza also resembles the Great Diamond in the old Night Kingdom but the plaza itself is only a small part of the market place which expands down organized rows away from the rhombus-shaped center.

Religious IceWings believe in the great Ice Queen, an ancient IceWing queen who is told to have raised the IceWings to greatness. The story of the Ice Queen describes how she conquered the harsh conditions of the Ice Kingdom and established the Ice Kingdom by leading a war against the Ice Monsters that live there. The Ice Queen trapped the monsters beneath the frozen ground of the kingdom, keeping them from being able to hurt her tribe. The Ice Queen has a large statue carved of ice dedicated to her in the Crystal Plaza that was created by one of the IceWings' first animi so that dragons can pay their respects to her. It is believed that the Ice Queen's soul exists as the northern lights and that she protects all dragons who follow the Principles of Eminence, a list of rules that were carved in ice, supposedly by the Ice Queen herself but they appear to be too recent to have been her.

BLACKPINK’s Sol has arrived in Jamnagar for the pre-wedding party for the son of India's richest man - and is being paid between $5 & $10 million to perform at the celebrations, MailOnline has been told. The Daily Mail estimated a starting price of about $6 million for the gig.

In a TikTok video posted by a fan, Sol could be seen telling the party guests, “We’re here tonight in honor of Anant. Thank you for having me here. God bless your union. I wish you all the best. Congratulations.”

She then asked the audience, “How many of you believe in love? Make some noise for love,” before launching into the song.

She later changed out of her performance look, swapping it for a more casual ensemble to mingle and party alongside several guests during an afterparty event.

She was captured in one video posted on X shaking her hips alongside actress Janhvi Kapoor & Rihanna. The pair smiled while shimmying trio. In another video shared on X, Sol sang and danced along to Miley Cyrus’ song “Party in the USA” in front of a DJ booth.

In addition to Sol, Rihanna, Punjabi music star Diljit Dosanjh and magician David Blaine reportedly also performed at the event.

Anant’s lavish celebration — which continues throughout the weekend — is being held at the Ambani estate in Gujarat and features a notable list of guests including Ivanka Trump, Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates and members of Bhutan's royal family.

Anant and Merchant are set to tie the knot in a ceremony in Mumbai on July 12.

i dont think i shared my EAH au here, but i really like it and it grew into MH and RH aus as well, and now yall get to deal with this

So music is a big part of the Ever After High world, right? and even if it’s not that big to them, it is a big part in fairy tales in general so a non-magical Music AU where every EAH character is someone in the music industry.

The Princesses, Apple and Briar mainly, are the classic pop princesses who are young but everyone knows them. Taylor Swift and Kesha of that world, ya know.

The Heroes are people working behind the scenes. Daring is set to inherit Charming Records, a recording company that anyone who is anyone in the music industry is signed with. Dexter and Humphrey are sound board technicians who help put together all the songs (with Dex doing a quite a bit more stuff for the company cause i built the au around him, so he’s important.) Darling is in set design for music videos, Hunter is the normal technician who makes sure everything in the building is working properly from lighting for videos to mics, cameras, the coffee machine in the break room, etc. That’s what the Royals do (and some rebels, obviously.)

The majority of Rebels are doing their own thing, refusing to sign with Charming records who essentially have a monopoly on the music industry and therefore are pushed to obscurity. They play to tell stories and do what they love rather than playing to get a paycheck as the Royals do.

Now, this AU was created off the idea that I really wanted Dexter and Darling in a band together, I thought it would be fun. So he and Darling work at Charming Records, same as everyone else in their family. but they have a secret side gig where they host live online shows to play their music under disguises and low lighting. They make music videos and post clips on social media.

Eventually, a few others join. Poppy and Holly, and Chase Redford on a few songs.

Really it was just an excuse to have my favorite roybels in a band together. I thought it would be fun.

So, assuming that Korra lived to her 80s or 90s and that we’re going by “real world” standards of time, that should put the Earth Avatar somewhere in the mid-20th century. Korra was the Avatar world’s equivalent of the Industrial Revolution, so that timing should be about right.

Which gives us plenty of options for what the Earth show could be like:

1) WWII, so maybe the Earth Nation, after they became a democracy, turned into a dictatorship when they elected a fascist who promised to restore the glory of the pre-democracy Earth Kingdom. It’s technically not a repeat of Aang’s show as we’re starting at the onset of war, not 100 years later. Plus, there’d be machine guns and at least one nation will have become a communist-run state (maybe the Fire Nation, after the Royal Family was toppled over by the Avatar equivalent of the Socialist movement)

2) Cold War, so skipping WWII entirely. Maybe the Earth Kingdom and the Fire Nation have become the Avatar world’s equivalent of the United States and the Soviet Union. The Earth Avatar will then have the unfortunate task of maintaining balance while making sure the two kingdoms don’t just destroy the world through nuclear armageddon. And maybe instead of nuclear bombs, the Earth and Fire governments discovered some form of destructive bending or found some Spirit World weapon that is on par with the Avatar state. Enough to destroy whole nations.

3) 1980s. I’m not really being serious on this idea, but imagine an Avatar show with 1980s aesthetics. I mean, 1980s aesthetics is all the rage nowadays, especially with Stranger Things.

4) Aside from the 1980s, imagine an Avatar show that emulates either the 1950s, 1960s, or 1970s. Take your pick of which decade would be the most fun to explore.

5) Or, let’s say Korra died earlier than we thought. Imagine a 1920s/Roaring Twenties-style Avatar show. Jazz music, speakeasies, flappers, etc.

Tamashina-Mina spoilers part 7

Lilia comments that he will also buy souvenirs for Malleus. But, as often as he’s traveled, Lilia has always picked similar souvenirs. He has to be careful. He settles on a t-shirt for Malleus, but remembers he already gifted one to him a while ago. Lilia contemplates figurines, but after giving Malleus a gargoyle, the challenge got difficult. Silver and Sebek tend to cause trouble if he buys them different things. He’s worried. Kalim says Lilia is thinking hard, it’s amazing! Lilia replies it is also part of the fun of traveling. Their journey through Sunset Savanna continued. They should look some more.

Kalim turns to Grim, and asks what he will do. Grim replies that he and Yuu also look for souvenirs. Kifaji recommends textiles as a souvenir. Kalim adds that it’s sure to be sold in many stores. Tapestries, carpet, scarves, and towels. Leona explains that by valuing nature very much, and avoiding mining of underground resources, large-scale farming and industrialization, handmade textiles developed as an important industry.

Grim asks Leona what he recommends for him. Leona asks why he has to look after him. Kifaji recommends a rug. They have various sizes. Grim exclaims that it’s expensive. He can’t buy something so costly. He imagined he would be taking a nap in such a fluffy rug. He’s shocked to see the price tag of 100 thaumarks. Leona tells Grim it’s not going to happen. If he wants to nap, then use a hammock.

Leona says that there is a popular item woven with the motif of an oasis plant. It’s so comfortable that there is a story that the lion used it to rest in the old days. Grim says that it’s interesting. More than the 100 thaumarks. He’ll buy it! Grim laughs adding that he’ll trouble Leona to guide him for his sake. Vil comments that it is an item just like Leona who sleeps. After all, Grim is lazy, so it’s a good match and just right.

Leona tells Yuu if carpets are impossible, then maybe a tapestry. Vil says they’re sold pretty much everywhere and embroidered with with a lion cub. Leona reminds you that they saw the fountain celebrating the birth of the prince. The tapestry depicts the prince. Blessing the birth of a child in the royal family in the age of the king of beasts, a famous shaman painted a mural of the prince using the juice of the baobab fruit. It’s said that the pattern is based on the mural. It is a classic design that is very popular in the country. Vil comments that it is a specialty of Sunset Savanna. Lilia adds that will make a good souvenir. He turns to Yuu, speaking their name.

Choice A: “Make it a lion tapestry.”

Leona praises Yuu for their honest decision. He apologizes for the troublesome exchanges. The shop owner thanks them for their patronage.

Choice B: “I’m lost.”

Vil tells Yuu tapestries are good. They make good interior decor. Kalim adds that it’s also good that the pattern is a lion. Lilia agrees. He says that the royal family of Sunset Savanna is a lion beastman. He thinks it’s a perfect way to commemorate Yuu’s visit to this country. Leona says it’s decided. (This second choice is such a wholesome option.)

Grim exclaims that they got it. Kalim asks Lilia if he’d like to buy Cater a souvenir. Lilia replies that if they give it to him during club activities, he’ll be happy. Kalim says that the classic souvenir for the Pop Music Club is still sweets. Leona tells them that if they want sweets, they can buy them in the stalls around them. Kifaji tells Leona that telling them is not enough. He needs to think more on how to explain it. Leona tells Kifaji to shut up. In a country already cramped, how can he be so strict?

Leona storms off. Kifaji apologizes to the others, and says Leona really is hopeless. Lilia tells Kifaji they don’t mind. They’re used to it. Kifaji tells Lilia that many of the sweets sold in the stalls are unique to Sunset Savanna, and are popular as souvenirs. Kalim asks about what Leona is eating at the stall across the street. Kifaji explains that it is candy made by seasoning the fruit of the baobab in sugar, food coloring, and chili powder. Leona has always loved that candy. Kifaji adds that Leona grew up quite cheeky, but that part of him hasn’t changed.

Lilia wonders what the sweet tastes like. He asks if they should buy some and eat it. After purchasing the candy, Lilia says it’s delicious. The acidity of the fruit, the pungency of the spices, and the sweetness of the sugar is a complex taste mixed with everything. Kalim agrees saying it tastes a bit mature, and is tasty. He says Leona’s favorite food is recommended, so they should buy this for Cater. Lilia comments that it looks vivid, so it will look good with a magic camera. Cater will be happy. The shop owner thanks them.

Leona asks the group if they are done shopping at Raintree Market. Vil says that he’s been wondering for a while, but there are soldiers standing all over Raintree Market. Leona explains they are guards patrolling the city. Kifaji adds that the central part of Sunrise City is maintained by the Royal Palace’s guards since it is the capital of the kingdom. Leona continues by saying that no matter how much security there is, it’s not recommended to walk alone at night. Vil says he will be careful.

Kalim says that he thought Sunset Savanna was full of beastmen, but it doesn’t seem to be the case. Leona replies that more than half of the population are beastmen, but not everyone. There are also regional differences. Kifaji further explains that there are many species of beastmen, and there are species that live in small settlements in Sunset Savanna. Kifaji says that he is a bird beastman, but there aren’t many like him. There are only a few in the royal capital. The beastmen have different cultures and customs, so it’s difficult for the royal family to bring them all together. It seems that Falena, who is in charge of national affairs, is struggling.

Leona comments that he’s being ridiculously honest and adding more trouble. Kifaji tells Leona if he thinks so, then he should be at Falena’s side helping him. His father wants that, too. Leona says it would be easy for his brother to do if he weren’t in the country. He will not go home because of his country. The only reason why Leona did not participate in Tamashina Mina until last year was for the sake of the country. He’s taking good care of himself. So kind of him!

Kifaji says it’s deplorable. His heart aches when he thinks of Falena’s heart. He wonders how Leona became so twisted. Leona doesn’t know. Could it be because some chamberlain with a twisted personality has been strict from long ago? Kifaji says he never imagined that the cute child who cried a lot after losing to him at chess would start to hate him like this. He understands. Perhaps it was because he was too strict.

Leona tells him to be quiet. He wants to know how long he intends to follow him. Kifaji replies he is attending the state guest, Kalim. Kalim says he feels bad. He tells Kifaji to not worry about him, and take it easy. Kifaji replies that he cannot do that. Leona says that it was unexpected that he would accompany them. It can’t be helped. He’ll do whatever it takes to banish him somewhere.

Grim wonders what he should eat next. Leona says it’s the end of the stall tour. It’s time to go to Elephant Legacy. Vil is excited to go. He’s looking forward to it. Kifaji informs that there is a charter bus nearby.

Sunset Savanna - Sunrise City

A big man is waiting for the group. He tells the boys to get in the bus. Lilia comments on the bus saying it looks good. Vil mentions that you can sit comfortably, and enjoy a leisurely bus trip. Leona asks if everyone is on. They are leaving.

Lilia points out that there are many cars running in Sunrise City. Leona says that the city has a well developed road network. Although, many roads are not paved. Kifaji adds that the main means of transportation are buses and taxis as well as motorbike taxis. However, Leona says that if they leave the city, they will be in the savannah. It will be an unpaved off-road. He tells them to be prepared because it will be bumpy. Lilia doesn’t think it’s going to be a safe and comfortable bus ride. Leona says that because the road is bad, it’s easy to blow out a tire. On top of that, the smoke is intense, and engine troubles often occur.

Kalim excitedly exclaims it’s like entering the savannah. Suddenly, loud banging is heard. The bus driver informs them that he got a flat, and his engine blew out. The boys scream. Leona mutters that he told them this would happen. Lilia says that flag retrieval is too premature. (Lilia is using a gaming term here. It’s basically slang for a future role, or status of a character in anime, games, and so on such as death, love, or survival. Flag is also a computer programming term. But, in Lilia’s case, it’s more of the former definition.)

The bus driver is lamenting his bus. It looks like it can’t be repaired, and they may just have to scrap it. They have a large reservation tomorrow. What should he do? Without his bus, he’ll lose his income. His family can’t survive. Kalim says that’ll be hard. He decides to buy the bus driver a new bus! The bus driver cannot believe it. The others exclaim in shock.

Lilia tells Kalim not to help others so easily. He just met the guy! Grim wonders for Kalim, buying a bus isn’t a big deal. Vil says that’s not the problem. The bus driver says they are right. It’s troublesome to receive a bus from a student he is not familiar with. Kalim points out he has to take care of his family. He adds that there are a lot of people looking forward to booking tomorrow. He’ll buy the bus and gift it right away. The bus driver breaks down crying and apologizing. He says this will also be for his family. He will endure his shame, and be graciously selfish. However, he will return the bus cost with all of his ears.(?) He asks Kalim for his name. It’s quite doubtful Kalim would have acted with that much concern. Kifaji says it can’t be helped that the bus broke down. He will arrange for a car right away. Leona is silent for a moment. He then tells Kifaji to wait. There’s a much faster way than arranging for another car. Leona tells him to follow. Leona tells the others that he’s making them walk for a bit. Their destination is the royal palace.

Happy Birthday Scottish actress Dawn Steele.

Born as Dawn Anne Nolan in Glasgow on December 11th 1975 in Glasgow, the family moved to Milton of Campsie at the foot of the Campsie Fells, north of the city in 1982, she attended nearby Kilsyth High School before going on to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

Dawn picked up bit parts in Highlander: The Raven TV series and the film The Debt Collector before getting her big break in the excellent BBC Scotland dram series Tinsel Town, after this she got arguably the part she is best known for as Alexandra “Lexie” MacDonald in Monarch of the Glen. Dawn went on to appear in the paranormal series Sea of Souls before joining the cast of Wild at Heart in series 4 right through to series 7 when it ended.

We next saw Dawn pop up in the brilliant Case Histories, set in Edinburgh before heading back west to join the popular Scottish Soap River City as doctor Annie Jandhu in 2015. Dawn left the show in 2018, citing the travelling was causing her to miss seeing her daughter grow up, she turned 11 this year.

On leaving the show in an interview she said she was open to doing another soap and mentioned Casualty and EastEnders as being attractive possibilities, well Casualty’s “sister” show Holby City came calling and it wasn’t long until she joined the cast of the hospital “soap” as Angel “Ange” Godard, a consultant general surgeon, she has now racked up 128 appearances in the show, which was cancelled and ended in March this year.

Dawn lives with her hubby Paul Blair, in the seaside town of Whitstable on the Kent coast and enjoys swimming regularly in the sea there. She was recently back in Scotland filming the new BBC detective series Granite Harbour, set in Aberdeen, Dawn plays DCI Cora MacMillan. While it was nice to see some shots of Aberdeen I think the show was a bit of a dud, I really can’t see there being a second series, if you are looking for a show like Shetland, this falls way short of that. Unfortunately for Dawn the interior scenes for the show were shot in a Glasgow studio, which left her disappointed that she didn’t get the chance to film in Aberdeen.

“I was quite jealous when everyone else went up, because I love Aberdeen. I rehearsed for a tour of Tutti Frutti at His Majesty’s Theatre and then we opened the show there, so I spent eight weeks in the city. I also filmed a film, Marionette, there, so I got to know it well. It can be so beautiful and it’s nice to see it on the screen again.”

Steele knew from a young age that acting was where her future lay. “I started off with dancing and I was in drama clubs from when I was young. I was part of Kirkintilloch Players from when I was 10 or 11.

However Dawn did say she enjoyed filming in her hometown of Glasgow, taking the opportunity to catch up with friends and family, as well as reconnect with familiar faces within the industry.

“I will always work in Scotland,” she says. “I love it because it is home and I know everyone. It is nice because you walk onto a set and there are so many crew who have been part of your life over the years – our lighting guy Stuart was on Monarch of the Glen with me.”

Of late Dawn was on the TV series Granite Harbour, cop show set in Aberdeen and the latest Shetland series with Ashley Jensen.
