"That Really Happened?!" DC Comics Tournament Entry #21
This angel centaur is a genderfluid lesbian
Tumblr media
[ID: A centaur with a white coat and long white flowing hair stands with his arms and wings outstretched while standing on top of a church, its large cross in front of him. He has magenta body armor on his chest, arms, and legs. The sun peaks through the stormy clouds and shines its rays on him. /End ID]
What Happened?
The year is 1997. There is a new volume of Supergirl. Her love interest is a guy with long white hair and horse legs. He’s like a fawn but with horse legs. He has big sexy eyes and she’s totally crazy for him. His name is Comet, a throwback to when Supergirl’s love interest was her horse or something. But wait! There’s this cool divorced lesbian Latina stand up comedian, Andy Jones, talking to Linda Danvers, Supergirl’s current secret identity. And Linda is kinda into her? AND THEN. Turns out Andy and Comet are the same person. A dying Andrea Martinez fused with a dying horse jockey turned horse man and together they became the new Andy Jones, able to switch back and forth between both forms. The reason she can do this? Because she’s the Earth Born Angel of Love. Which allows her to unlock the full winged centaur form. Did I mention this happened in the late 90s?

Tournament polls will be posted after all entries are up. As always you can find all posts related to the tournament using #dc-polls-trh

Sweet Love-Chapter 7
Fandom: Supergirl
Relationships: Kara Danvers/Lena Luthor, Alex Danvers/Kelly Olsen
Characters: Kara Danvers, Lena Luthor, Alexa Luthor-Danvers (OC), Liza Luthor-Danvers (OC), Jess, Lillian Luthor, Alex Danvers, Kelly Olsen, Krypto, Mable Longhorn (OC)
Summary: Lena is stressed about family and work decisions that need to be made. Kara believes that a family vacation to the Danvers' family ranch will get her mind off of things. However, the more they find out about the history of the place, the more they realize that the place holds quite a few hidden secrets.
Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, Chapter 5, Chapter 6
As Lena walked through the horse stalls some more, she zoned in on a particular horse. It was chestnut colored with blonde hair. It had white small splotches on its left side that looked like raindrops. Lena’s eyes grew wide when she realized that she had seen these before.
She turned around and asked, “Hey Kara, can you come here?”
She quickly came over to her and kissed her on the cheek.
“Is everything okay?”
Lena pointed at the horse startled.
“Doesn’t this look like Rain to you?”
Kara looked at the horse more closely and started smiling really brightly.
“This is her!”
Lena reached out to pet her and the horse’s nose met her hand and nuzzled it.
“How is this possible?”
“The horses were the only original animals that I was able to get back.”
Lena nearly jumped in her own skin. She turned around to see her mom standing right next to her.
“A little bit of a warning next time,” muttered Lena as she tried to control back her breathing.
“So quickly forgot that you guys weren’t the only ones in here?” smirked Lillian.
“You know that isn’t it,” pouted Lena.
Lena looked back over to Rain whose nose was trying to nuzzle her hair. Normally, Lena would be irritated, but she smiled and petted Rain instead. She turned back and gave her mom a quizzical look.
“How were you able to get the horses back?”
“The new owners wanted to make use of the riding trails and offer it as a service to the new homeowners in the area.”
Kara shook her head while patting Rain.
“They were really trying to milk everything for what it’s worth,” muttered Kara.
“Would it make you feel better that the horses were well taken care of while away from the ranch?”
“Yes,” said Kara rolling her eyes.
“Well good. I originally came over to tell you that everyone has picked out a horse and is ready to go.”
Lena looked back and did indeed see the girls, Alex, and Kelly all saddled and waiting on their horses. She looked back sheepishly at her mother.
“We’ll hurry up!.”
Kara went off to quickly find a horse. Lena let Rain out of his stall. As she saddled up, she began to think about the first time she went horse riding with Kara on the ranch.
Lena had a lovely night with Mable and Kara. She especially loved that Mable told very embarrassing stories about Kara from childhood. She had never seen Kara’s face get so bright red before. It was adorable.
The next day Mable suggested that they should definitely do horse riding and then camping. As they walked with their supplies to the horse stables, Lena noticed the other customers as they walked through the ranch. Some of them would just stare at her. Given her family’s history, Lena was used to being stared at, but this seemed different. Usually, people stared at her with judgment in their eyes. However, the people that she has seen so far have been staring at her like they wanted to dissect her which creeped her out.
There were two people in particular that seemed to be following them. It was two twin ladies. They had skin that almost looked like the color of snow and black long hair. The chilling thing was their eyes. They seemed unusually large with their dark brown irises staring back at you. It gave Lena goosebumps. They had notepads with them and were continuously writing in them without looking down. It was unnerving. Lena quickly tapped on Kara’s arm and motioned her closer.
“I think we are being followed,” whispered Lena into Kara’s ear.
Kara looked down at her with concern.
“Where?”
Lena pointed slightly behind her.
“They are behind us about 30 ft back.”

Kara and Lena at the Mines of Moria
The fanart is a little gift for the awesome @mike-wachowski
Supercorp Lord of the Rings AU
She arrives in the night.
Kara witnesses her arrival from above, where she's perched on the marble balustrade in the courtyard.
She can't sleep. Hasn't been able to sleep in a while, not since Astra bequeathed the Ring to her.
Walking helps. Rivendell is beautiful, more beautiful than she remembers, but then again she hasn't been here in years, since she first awoke from her long sleep.
The ancient trees forming a canopy above the house of M'yrnn stand as tall and resilient as they ever have. When she touches their rough bark and speaks to them like she does to the trees at home in Midvale, it almost seems as if they speak back, in the creaking of hundred-year-old branches and the swaying whispers of leaves.
It's with the whispering of the leaves that the woman arrives. Accompanied by the beating of hooves, loud in the silence of the night.
She's not the first to come. Others have been arriving for the Council since the day before yesterday, but she is the only one who's arrived this late at night. Kara immediately knows she must have come from far away. The long weariness of their journey is apparent in her companions' faces. But not in hers.
The lady emerges from the blue-black darkness of the night like a beacon, like a star lighting up the night sky, her pale figure astride her white horse almost glowing in the darkness.
The line of her spine is straight and unbowed by fatigue, even though the other young woman attending to her looks visibly tired. Her eyes are sharp, Kara can see even from a distance. But her hand is gracious and soft as she offers it to M'yrnn who greets her at the foot of the steps.
She's speaking to M'yrnn, undoubtedly the leader of this night-borne group. Kara creeps closer, wanting to hear her voice. They're too far away for Kara to hear her words, but she hears her voice, low and melodious, like flowing water.

My #1 post of 2022
Tumblr media
Her fingertips are playing with the necklace emerging from her collar. Kara's eyes catch there and stick.
“I seem to have something of yours once again,” Lena says, noticing the line of her gaze. “I think it might be time to return it.”
Her hand reaches up to the clasp at her nape but Kara gets there first, trapping Lena's fingers against the side of her neck, twining them with her own.
She shakes her head. “Some things are yours to keep.”
Their gazes meet, eyelashes fluttering in the swift sea breeze.
Lena's eyes are cautious. “Even when I love them?”
“Yes.”
(They're not talking about a necklace. They've never really been talking about a necklace, Kara knows. All that's left is to find out whether Lena does, too.)
The tips of Lena's fingers flutter anxiously against the back of Kara's hand. “Even when I love them too much?”
She takes a step closer, their hips meeting. “Especially then.”
Lena's jaw works as she swallows. Her voice is nothing more than a whisper on the wind. “How long?” she asks, soft and vulnerable. “How long will they be mine?”
Her fingers find Lena's free hand beneath the cuff of her sweater. She brings them both up, cups them in her own, presses them between Lena's heart and her own in reiteration of a promise six years in the making.
“Always."
I received too much damage from @searidings' fic after, and I just had to draw that scene. So here, share my suffering. (just kidding, it's wonderful!)

Dreams In Which I’m Dying (14)
parts 14 of 16 | 1030 words | Teen +
Donnie Darko AU | parts 1 & 2 | part 3 | parts 4 & 5 | parts 6 & 7 | part 8 | part 9 | part 10 & 11 | parts 12 & 13 | parts 15 & 16 (complete)
Summary:
Eddie Munson opens his eyes. He hadn't expected to do that again, being dead and all.
14 - Opens his eyes
Eddie Munson opens his eyes. He hadn't expected to do that again, being dead and all. Everything is soft and white, and a moment later Steve Harrington’s face swims into view.
“Shit, ‘s this heaven?” Eddie slurs. It feels like he’s talking through cotton, like he’s drugged or something.
The vision of Steve blushes. He made Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington blush!
“Uh, no. Starts with an H, though.”
Eddie licks his lips and tries to concentrate. “Horse?”
Steve smirks. “Not even close, man.”
“. . . Hawkins.”
“Well, yeah.”
“Got it in one,” Eddie brags, grinning when Steve shakes his head at him. “Proud of me, big boy?”
“Sure, Eddie,” Steve says dryly. “Really proud of you for being a hero when you promised not to, traumatizing Dustin by almost dying, and being in a coma while we defeated the bad guy. Great stuff, dude.” But his hand is on Eddie’s shoulder, thumb rubbing reassuringly along Eddie’s collarbone through the hospital gown.
“You missed meee,” Eddie croons. (He’ll circle back to the rest of that when he doesn’t feel lax and heavy enough to sink through the center of the earth.) “Steeeve Harrington missed me.”
“Yeah yeah, don’t cre—” Steve cuts himself off and clears his throat. Eddie has no idea why he’s blushing harder but can’t resist raising a hand to clumsily poke at his nearest cheek. It sets off a dull ache in muscles he had no idea such a simple movement required.
He gets to touch Steve’s beauty marks though. Totally worth it.
“Okay, I’m gonna wait on telling Dustin you’re awake,” Steve decides as Eddie starts feeling up the bridge of his nose. “You’re too out of it right now, and they just took the last stitches out. But hey, want to meet Supergirl?”
“Like the comics?” Eddie moves on from nose to eyebrows, sliding his thumb repeatedly over one, going with the grain.
Steve chuckles, and Eddie preens a little because he made that happen. “No, remember I told you we had a friend with super powers?”
“Mm. You said she didn’t have them anymore.”
“Yeah, well. Turns out she got them back, and when you didn’t wake up she went in and brought you back.”
Eddie hums, content with Steve letting him trail a thumb in an arc down the side of his face, rasping over stubble and coming to rest on a chapped bottom lip. “Does that mean I’ve already met her?”
It’s a second before Steve answers, which Eddie realizes is because of his thumb on his mouth. He slides it down to his chin instead. “Uh. I guess? She said it's complicated. . . . Not sure what that means.”
“Okay,” Eddie says, mesmerized by the way Steve’s lips move when he talks. “Send Supergirl on in.”
As if on cue, a door across the room opens and a buzzed head pops through to blink big eyes at them.
Steve smiles at her, waving her further inside. “Eddie Munson, meet Eleven Hopper.”
“Hi Eddie,” the girl says shyly, sliding inside and closing the door behind her, and that voice. He recognizes it from somewhere, but can’t place it.
“Hey Supergirl,” Eddie calls. Maybe he’s being loud, but he’s not the best at modulating his volume while high and he’s increasingly sure that he’s on painkillers right now. Good ones. Must be why his hand is still on Steve’s face, despite the company. “I’m The Freak, nice to meet ya.”
She gives him a closed-lipped grin as she slips into a chair next to Steve’s. “We have met. Do you remember?”
“Can’t say that I do, sorry,” he admits cheerfully.
Are you sure?
Eddie knows it’s the Eleven that’s talking to him. Hearing a disembodied voice should terrify him, with everything that’s—
Suddenly, it all clicks into place. Discordant memories of two similar yet very different weekends fit over each other, and the mental vertigo that comes with it is enough for all the blood to drain from his face. He loses his grip on Steve’s impeccable jawline and his arm bangs down onto a hospital bed guard rail, but he barely even notices because Jesus H. Christ.
“Eddie?” All at once Steve zeroes in on him in concern, reaching to help tuck his arm back on the right side of the rail.
We do not have to tell anyone, Eleven assures him. We do not even have to talk about it. It can just be a dream. I do not think it will happen again.
“Nn.” Eddie feels incredibly sober all the sudden. He forces his gaze away from Eleven and back to Steve. “Nothing. Just, uh. Realized this is a hospital, right? I got. . . . The bats got me.”
That isn’t all he’s remembered, but it’s in there.
Something in Steve’s eyes softens. “Yeah,” he says. “I had to give you CPR all the way to the hospital.”
“Sorry I missed that,” Eddie jokes weakly, and means it.
His glance flicks back to Eleven.
He remembers Steve pulling him into the RV and kissing him, and he can still feel it, still taste him—but this isn’t that Steve. That Steve had been around Eddie longer, gotten to know him sooner. But this Steve smiles at him the same way, or almost. As though he’s getting there, and it’s only ever a matter of time.
And the guilt Eddie remembers, about running and leaving Chrissy behind? It’s smaller, unpicked a little by seeing how marked for death she’d always been. Even if it was a dream—which is definitely the least unsettling of the two options—he feels more at peace, because he’d done everything he could.
Maybe he’s just imagining the other option, anyway. He’s seen some crazy shit recently, but somehow getting caught in some sort of fucked up It’s A Wonderful Survivor’s Guilt time loop? No way.
“Sorry,” he tells Eleven, “I don’t. . . .”
“That is okay,” she says, reaching over to pat his hand. “I’m just glad I was able to help. You are very important to many of my friends, so that makes us friends too.”
It feels like such a relief, as though he’d been holding his breath and finally got a chance to exhale.

Presenting the WINNER of the DC "That Really Happened?!" Tournament...
Supergirl gets romanced by her horse
Tumblr media
[ID: Two cropped comic panels in one image with two hearts. The first is Supergirl in plain clothes being kissed by a blonde young man. She has a cloud bubble showing an image of her in costume, and he has a cloud bubble showing a white horse with a cape. The second panel is of a horse, thinking "If I were a man... If I were free to tell her of my real feelings, for a girl like that, I'd even give up all my super-powers!" /END ID]
🎉 Congratulations to Linda Danvers and Comet! 🎉
This storyline was quite unexpected, and it seems to raise more questions than it answers. From the beginning when it won out over a new version of Supergirl falling in love with a horse-man (yes, again), this one became the one to beat.
~~~
But let's not forget our Second Place storyline of...
Joker becoming the Iranian ambassador
Tumblr media
[ID: Comic panel of Joker wearing a reddish pink head dress. He is turned to the side, smiling with eyes closed. He says, "I am proud to speak for the great Islamic Republic of Iran." /END ID]
It was a hard battle for second and third, and the two finalists duked it out neck-and-neck all week, but in the end Joker becoming an ambassador right after killing Jason was just weird enough to come out on top.
~~~
And that brings us to Third Place...
Jason Todd: Tentacle Monster
Tumblr media
[ID: Comic panel of Jason Todd turned into a large reddish brown monster with tentacles with a man's head and shoulders in his mouth. Jason says, "And now it's your turn!" /END ID]
Jason came in third, but his bizarre form still beat out all the rest of the competition throughout the previous rounds.
~~~
Last, an honorable mention for the ones that didn't make it past the semi-finals to be ranked...
Carol Ferris' pregnancy
Monsieur Mallah and the Brain
Bob Haney's lack of canon knowledge when writing Donna
~~~
A huge thank you to everyone who participated, from submitters to voters and all of you in between! This was a really fun one, and I look forward to what we get into next!!

Some headcanons for my fave wlw ships, inspired by Taylor Swift’s Fearless album (Taylor’s version)
Clexa (Fearless, Love Story, Hey Stephen, You Belong With Me, Today Was A Fairytale)
Tumblr media
Headcanon: It’s a rainy day in Polis, and echoing through the plaza is laughter and the pitter-patter of feet on puddles. A rare sight is seen and it brings a smile to anyone who passes by. There was happiness and relief in seeing the fearless Heda with a smile on her face as she playfully chases a laughing Wanheda. Then the brunette catches the blonde and wraps strong arms around her waist, whispers of “I love you” blowing with wind. Alas, there was honest peace in the world.
Tumblr media
Avatrice (Fifteen, Change, Jump Then Fall, Untouchable)
Tumblr media
Headcanon: Ava thought she knew love and belonging when she met JC. Their time together was intense, but it was fleeting and uncertain. Then, there’s Beatrice and suddenly, everything changed. Beatrice understood her without her having to say much. Finally, Ava truly felt seen and heard. Beatrice believed in her, and in the rough times they’re about to face, Ava knows they can make it through. Suddenly, she’s not so afraid to jump through anything. She’s ready to fall because Beatrice will always be there to catch her. Is it love? Maybe. Trust? Definitely.
Tumblr media
Raylla (White Horse, Breathe, The Way I Loved You, You All Over Me, We Were Happy)
Tumblr media
Headcanon: Raelle isn’t usually one for expressing her feelings. Feelings made you vulnerable, and if there’s one thing she hated feeling, it was feeling weak. So she avoided “feeling”. But Scylla changed all that—and Raelle “felt” so hard and so passionately. Scylla made her feel extreme emotions. Raelle was the happiest she’s ever been when Scylla was in her life. And now... she’s at her saddest point. Scylla was her air, her heart, her fairytale dream. Now, Raelle fights to keep her breath, to keep her heart from crumbling... to keep living in a nightmare where Scylla is no longer in her life.
Tumblr media
Supercorp (Tell Me Why, You’re Not Sorry, Come In With The Rain, Superstar, The Other Side Of The Door, That’s When, Don’t You, Bye Bye Baby)
Tumblr media
Headcanon: Kara and Lena has been through a lot. Kara had her secrets and Lena had made bad decisions, and in the end, hurtful things has been said and done. But Kara had unwavering faith and was persistent in showing how much Lena meant to her. Lena had her doubts, but her feelings for Kara always eventually overshadowed any negative thoughts she has. They both know it’s not gonna be an easy path to go back to how they were, but it’s worth it. They’ll make it through and they’ll be stronger at the end. And at that point, maybe they’ll realise what they’ve always meant to each other all along... Maybe on a rainy day, Lena will be looking out her balcony, daydreaming. Maybe Supergirl will appear, drenched in rain water. Maybe Lena will drag her inside and fuss. Maybe Kara will hold on to her hands, smile and finally say “I’m in love with you”. Maybe Lena will smile back and say it back in relief and pure joy. Maybe, after everything, they finally get their long-awaited kiss... their happy ending.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And so I’m back at it again... Extra sappy, isn’t it? Oh well, blame Taylor. The re-recordings just give me so many feels. I swear she writes songs that just relates to so many things *cough*supercorp*cough*
I wish upon every star for Supercorp to be endgame!!!

Breaking Into The Watchtower Part 1
Miraculous Ladybug-DC Universe crossovers are some of my favorite fanfictions. They are just a good match. I especially love ones where the Justice League either ignores the Paris situation or one of the League members gets the messages for help and doesn’t believe them. Mostly, it’s the Flash, Guy Gardner, Green Lantern, or Booster Gold.
In this story, some of the miraculous have changed hands for my story. There will be new holders and different holders for old miraculous. All of my OC characters will also be included. Nathaniel has the fox, Marc has the turtle, Rose has the horse, Juleka has the tiger, and Alix will have the bunny.
*****
“This is most definitely not something that I would ever have thought that I would ever do,” White Wolf says.
“We are magical teenagers that use the power of mini gods and mystical jewelry,” Beautifly says. “Your statement pretty much sums up every day of our lives.”
“Trust me, I never thought that I would be doing anything like this before I met Plagg,” Cat Noir said.
“At least I can cross this off my bucket list,” Ladybug giggled.
“Why is the name of the Olympian gods would this be on your bucket list,” White Wolf looked at the teen hero weirdly.
“I put it on after they started to ignore our cries for help,” Ladybug crossed her arms. “Or, when it was made obvious that they were ignoring us, at least.”
“How much sleep have you gotten lately,” Beautifly asks. “You only get this sassy when you haven’t slept in about two days.”
“I remember going to sleep on Wednesday,” Ladybug put her hand on her chin as she started thinking.
“Uh… It’s Saturday,” White Wolf deadpanned.
“Oh,” was all Ladybug could say.
“If you don’t go right to sleep after we get back, I am sending Plagg over to destroy every device you have to make sure you are not distracted and can finally sleep,” Cat Noir threatened.
“But what if there is an akuma,” Ladybug protested.
“Then we will have to make sure that Cat Noir saves his power so that he can Cataclysm the moth when it comes out of the akumatized object,” White Wolf says.
“And the damage,” Ladybug continued to protest.
“We will get to that when we get there,” White Wolf said.
“You are sometimes too selfless for your own good,” Beautifly shook her head.
“Yeah, she tends to be like that,” Cat Noir chuckled. “Why do you think I force myself between her and the villains we face when she tries to protect me because she will take the hit for me. But she needs to be the one that the attack does not hit because she is the one that purifies the akuma.”
“We are a very colorful crew,” Beautifly giggled.
“Says the butterfly girl whose hero outfit is almost entirely black,” White Wolf said.
“Not my fault that Flutter is a monarch butterfly kwami,” Beautifly shrugged.
“I certainly wish that I had some color on my suit,” Cat Noir says. “While the black makes my eyes pop, the color doesn’t match my personality at all. Why couldn’t Plagg be a tabby cat or a white cat?”
“Because he is the literal god of bad luck and nobody thinks of either of those two other kinds of cats when bad luck comes to mind,” Ladybug stated. “Deal with it, Chaton.”
“Yeah, you really need some sleep before you become permanently sassy,” Beautifly says.
“I blame Hawkmoth and his never-ending late-night akumas,” White Wolf stated. “My ears are still ringing from that banshee akuma he created last week.”
“And talk about unoriginal,” Cat Noir rolled his eyes. “Scream Queen was probably the most obvious choice of name in the history of villain names.”
“Even more so than that Poison Ivy woman in Gotham,” Beautifly asked.
“Well, she could have called herself Mother Nature,” Cat Noir shrugged.
“Point made,” Beautifly said.
The four then looked at the rest of their teams preparing themselves for what was going to be done. The Greek hero team had stayed the same throughout the three years of fighting, but the French team had changed. Their current members were Vulpix, Emerald Turtle, Queen Bee, Viperion, Lady Unicorn, King Monkey, Ryuko, Shadow Cat, and Bunnix. The last two being the newest members of the hero team. The Greek team was Gladiator with the grizzly bear miraculous, Tigress with the leopard miraculous, and Ocean Mage with the mermaid miraculous. The last one being the only person to be currently using a magical creature miraculous on the planet.
All of the heroes were getting ready in their own ways. Ryuko, Ocean Mage, and Viperion were meditating. King Monkey, Bunnix, Tigress, and Gladiator were all getting themselves hyped up for the mission. Queen Bee was trying to find a way to take off her gloves to file her nails. Vulpix and Emerald Shell were cuddling, comforting each other, and probably trying really hard not to start making out. The same could be said about Shadow Cat and Lady Unicorn. Those four were always the more timid ones of the group, even though all of them were amazing heroes.
“Alright, does everyone remember their parts of the plan,” Ladybug asked them, snapping them out of their trances.
“I will make sure that everything goes smoothly and no one truly gets hurt,” Viperion says.
“White Wolf, Lady Unicorn, and I take out our biggest worries to being discovered before we are ready,” Bunnix added.
“The rest of us force them into a position where they have to listen to us,” Gladiator said.
The rest of the team nodded in agreement. Some of them were still looking nervous about what they were about to do.
“Are you sure doing this is the right thing to do,” Lady Unicorn asked. “We could get into serious trouble for this.”
“We wouldn’t be doing this at all if they stopped ignoring us,” Tigress crossed her arms. “Even with all these miraculous being active, Hawmoth’s akumas are getting more and more dangerous.”
“He is also akumatizing more dangerous people like con artists, martial artists, and policemen,” Ocean Mage says. “What’s to stop him from going all Scarlet Moth and sending his moths to a prison if he gets desperate enough?”
“That is why we need their help,” Ladybug said. “If contacting them through official means does not help, then we must do what we have to.”
“I just hope that we don’t get labeled as criminals for this,” Beautifly said.
-----------------------------
If there was one thing that Robin currently was, it was bored. He had to stop himself from yawning as he sat in another long and boring meeting of the Justice League.
One would think that a young hero like him would not be a part of one of these meetings. But this was less of a war room and more of a meeting between all heroes to discuss general things involving heroes in general and not entirely league business. It was always the same things being discussed in these meetings. Egotistical politicians trying to control the league, villains breaking out of prison again, as well as discussing potential new members of the League and the Young Justice team.
Other than Robin, the rest of the Bat-family was there as well. Batman, Nightwing, Red Hood, Red Robin, Oracle, Spoiler, Orphan, Batwing, and even Batwoman. The Super family was also there. Superman, Supergirl, Superboy, and the former Superboy that now called himself Krypton. Robin smirked at how Conner had finally broken the trend of having “Super” in his hero name. He may be a clone, he knew that both Kara and Jon both adored him. The other young heroes that were there were Red Arrow, Artemis, Aqualad, Tempest, Miss. Martian, Beast Boy, Starfire, Zatanna, Kid Flash, and Impulse.
And other than Batman and Superman, there were also the mentors of the other young heroes as well. Green Arrow, Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Dr.Fate, and the Flash. The other adult heroes in the room were Hawkman, Hawkwoman, Wonder Woman, Sparton, Black Canary, Red Tornado, all three Green Lanterns, Black Lightning, Captain Marvel, Captain Atom, the Atom, and Katanna.
As Robin looked around, he noticed that he was not the only bored-looking young hero. The entire Bat-family looked to be wanting to be anywhere else, especially since they lived in a city where a crime was committed every five seconds. But the other heroes that looked bored were Superboy, Krypton, Red Arrow, Aqualad, and Beast Boy. They were all probably like him. They were excited to be part of league meetings until it was discovered that there was a lot more politics involved than actual hero work.
“Does anyone have anything else that they would like to add,” Superman asked the room.
“How about we talk about actually saving people instead of dealing with politicians,” Nightwing muttered, making the Bat-family hide their snickers.
“Especially that psycho Lex Luthor,” Krypton muttered from his place next to Nightwing.
“Well, if that is all…” Superman was about to wrap up the meeting.
“Wait,” Zatanna shot up from her seat, her hands on her head. “I sense something.”
All the younger heroes were all now thinking how something interesting was finally going to happen during one of these meetings. But the heroes were also all reaching for their weapons if they had them.
“What is it,” Wonder Woman asked the magician, her hand on her sword.
“There is an incoming magical…” Zatanna was cut off.
A bright blue portal opened up right under her feet. She fell in before she could finish her warning. The portal closed right after she fell into it.
“What in the world,” Flash gasped.
“ZATANNA,” the members of Young Justice yelled their former team member’s name.
“Oracle,” Batman did not even have to say the entire order.
“I’m on it,” the wheelchair-bound hero immediately started typing on her holographic computer. “She’s… I can’t find her.”
“What do you mean you can’t find her,” Captain Atom demanded to know.
“It’s like she vanished into thin air,” Oracle continued typing. “She’s nowhere in the Watchtower, or on Earth, not even on my planet in our galaxy. There is no sign of Zatanna anywhere.”
“She managed to say that it was something magical that was approaching,” Wonder Woman says.
“Dr. Fate, can you do something,” Superman requested of the lord of order.
The master sorcerer stood up from his seat. While he, personally, did not care for Zatanna other than a fellow user of the mystic arts, his current host body was that of her father. So finding her will hopefully silence all the yelling that Zatara is currently doing inside of the helmet.
But before the lord of order could do anything, another portal opened up behind him. But unlike the bright blue of the first one, this portal was a ring of blue surrounding a white portal. Something had quickly reached through and Dr.Fate was instantly turned into an ice statue. An invisible figure sneaked through the portal before it closed.
This caused all the other league members and Young Justice members to all jump and, drawing their weapons or preparing their powers. They all looked around and were on guard just in case another portal opened up.
“Oracle,” Batman ordered her again.
She was typing as quickly as humanly possible.
“I can’t find anyone else in the Watchtower,” she said, still typing. “I’ve run heat scans, x-ray scans, even the program to search for invisible opponents. I still can not find anyone else in the Watchtower.”
A soft tune suddenly played throughout the room. It was like a theme song for a peaceful day in the Fall played on a flute. A ball of light soon soared to the end of the room and brightly flashed. When the flash died down, the heroes were all shocked to see a message had been written in light in the air.
“We Just Want To Talk.”
It floated there for about a minute before Superman and Maritan Manhunter flew over to the message to examine it. But the moment that one of them touched it, it vanished in a burst of orange smoke-like light.
“It was an illusion,” Nightwing was the first to realize it.
“Maybe that is how they are hiding,” Red Robin opened up his own holographic screen over his glove and started typing. “Under an illusion.”
“And if they are magical like Zatanna said, it would not be possible to detect them since the technology that can detect magic has not been invented yet,” Oracle added.
“There is no such thing as magic,” yelled out Kid Flash.
Young Justice rolled their eyes, used to the constant rants that the speedster goes on about his disbelief in magic. It certainly annoyed those like Aqualad and Tempest, who both were born in Atlantis and attended the conservatory of sorcery there. Few other magical heroes tolerated the loud-mouth. Which was why heroes like Phantom and his brother Gold Siren wanted nothing to do with the team. (Reference to my fanfictions on Wattpad, Phantom Music and Home.)
“Try to find out where the illusion came from,” Superman ordered.
“You could try looking right in front of you,” a female voice was suddenly heard.
The heroes all turned and saw three masked teenagers standing there. Two boys and a girl.
The first boy was a redhead with his bangs covering his right eye. He had on a fox-themed skin-tight orange and white outfit with red boots, gloves, and a red jacket. He also had real fox ears and a real fox tail as well. A flute was strapped to his back.
The boy next to him had black hair with green tips, which matched his turtle-themed outfit. The outfit also had a dark green leather jacket and boots with a green shield on his back, going with the goggle-like mask over his eyes.
The girl was blond with a single black streak in her ponytail. Her outfit was definitely themed by bumblebees. But unlike the shoes of the two next to her, her shoes had a slight heal to them. Like a two-inch-high wedge heel. Around her waist was a spinning top on a string.
“What have you done to our allies,” Captain Atom demanded of them.
“They are perfectly fine,” the turtle boy informed them.
“Why should we believe you,” Robin held his katana in his hand.
“Because we need your help and harming your fellow heroes would not help our situation,” the fox boy crossed his arms.
“What could you possibly need from us,” Black Lightning’s hands sparked with his powers.
“How about for you to stop ignoring us while we have been fighting a terrorist for three years,” the bee girl yelled at them.
“We also are not lying,” the fox boy said. “We have no reason to lie when surrounded by most of the world’s heroes.”
Before they could say anything else, all three were surrounded by separate green spheres that floated them up into the air. The Green Lanterns all had their rings pointed at one of the masked teens.
“This is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous,” the bee girl complained as she crossed her arms.
“I got captured by the original Green Lantern,” the fox boy looked to be almost fanboying inside of his sphere.
“Lucky, I got that class clown Guy Gardner,” the turtle boy almost seemed to pout.
“Hey,” Guy Gardner protested, offended.
“Why are you here, where is Zatanna, and what did you do to Dr. Fate,” Superman demanded of the three as he flew close to them.
“You know, you are a lot less threatening than you think you are,” the bee girl stated with a smirk. “By the way, whoever told you that underwear on the outside of your pants was a good choice needs to be thrown into fashion jail.”
Most of the Young Justice team had to stop themselves from laughing. Even Superboy, Supergirl, and Krypton were trying not to laugh. They had no idea who this girl was, but she was certainly sassy.
“How did you get into the Watchtower undetected,” Superman continued to demand answers from them.
“That is for us to know,” the fox boy started.
“And you to find out,” the turtle boy finished.
The smirks the three had told the league something, alright. Batman was the first to realize what it meant.
“There are more of them,” he said.
As if him saying that was their cue to come in, three more masked teens almost seemed to materialize into the room. A guy in a monkey-themed outfit hit his Ruyi Jingu Bang against the ground and then threw it into the air.
“Uproar,” he yelled.
He threw his now glowing staff into the air, the staff letting out a flash as it spun in the air. With a swift flick of her lasso, Wonder Woman grabbed the weapon before it could fall back into the monkey boy’s hand. But something else fell into his hands that they did not see.
But then came the second masked teen, who looked like he had been born of the ocean. He took out what seemed to be a hilt made out of sapphire. Water came out of the hilt as the masked boy flicked his wrist, the water forming into a whip. Before they could move, the teen whipped all of the Green Lantern’s hands at once. Pulling his whip, the masked teen caused their hands to collide together.
That was when the monkey boy threw the object that he had caught out of the air. Katana was close enough to try and slice through it with her sword, but she was intercepted by a second masked girl, this one appearing out of nowhere and seemed to have a tiger theme to her. Even if she was purple and black and not orange and black. Katana’s sword was met with a metal tiger-claw gauntlet. While they fought, a bunny-themed girl showed up and intercepted Green and Red Arrow, fighting both archers at once. Then, to the shock of the Green Lantern trio, a stuffed octopus child’s toy landed on their connected hands.
For a moment, nothing happened and they wondered why a stuffed animal had been thrown at them. But then their rings all started to malfunction at once. The rings stopped glowing and all three trapped teens were released from their bubbles. And since the rings were no longer working, the Lanterns all fell to the ground without their ability to fly.
“We’re teenagers, not stupid,” the bee girl smirked.
No longer wanting to underestimate the masked teens, the big hitters of the league all started to move toward them. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Red Tornado, and Captain Atom.
“Venom,” the bee girl shouted.
The top in her hand seemed to grow a bit in size and start glowing. As Superman flew at her, she dodged him and managed to touch him with her top. He fell to the ground and did not move from his punching pose. He was paralyzed.
“Confusion,” a female voice shouted.
Wonder Woman turned around to almost immediately be scratched on her arm by a girl in a leopard-themed outfit. The scratch on her arm glowed purple and the hero suddenly became very dizzy and could not seem to focus. She had never been drunk before, but she was sure this was probably how it felt.
Captain Atom’s hands lit up as he aimed one of his energy blasts at the masked teens. As he was just about to blast, another masked teen appeared. This one was themed by a brown-furred bear. Probably a grizzly bear.
“Roar,” a male voice yelled just as Captain Atom blasted.
The bear boy’s fist lit up gold and he punched right into the energy beam. To the surprise of the league, he was able to keep the beam at bay with a single punch.
Red Tornado was about to throw one of his twisters when he was hit on his robot head by a thrown horseshoe. It bounced and flew around like a boomerang-gone-wild until it landed back in the hand of a horse-themed girl.
All of the heroes and masked teens in the room were either fighting or dodging the attacks of another from one of the other groups.
“Enough,” a male and female voice shouted at once.
Even the Justice League froze as the voices boomed throughout the room. Standing on the other side of the room were six more masked teens. Three boys and three girls. The two that had shouted were a ladybug-themed girl and a boy with an icy wolf outfit. The boy standing next to the ladybug girl looked to be related to Catwoman while the girl next to the wolf boy was like a butterfly turned human. The last two were a snake boy and a girl that looked to be dragon-themed.
“All of you, front and center, now,” the ladybug girl ordered.
All of the animal-themed teens stopped what they were doing immediately. They put their weapons away and walked over to join the others at her sides.
Wonder Woman looked at the group for a few moments. The drunk feeling had been lifted from her and she could focus. There was something about them that was making an old memory of her’s rise to the surface. An old story that her mother used to tell her about when she had been friends with, who she had called, an adorable and wise little creature known as a kwami. A creature that she also remembered was bound to a magical object called a miraculous.
“The ladybug and black cat are active once more,” she gasped.
The league looked at the Amazon princess in shock. She actually had an idea who these teens were.
“We thought that you would be the one to recognize our magic, Wonder Woman,” the ladybug girl softly smiles.
Wonder Woman approached the group, putting her sword away as she did. And surprising the league again, she bowed to the ladybug girl and cat boy. The two of them and the wolf boy and butterfly girl bow back.
“It is an honor to meet the wielder of the ladybug miraculous,” Wonder Woman said.
“The honor is all ours, daughter of Hippolyta,” the ladybug girl says. “Tikki says to tell your mother ‘hi’ for her.”
Wonder Woman smiled at that.
“Would you care to explain exactly what is going on,” Batman ordered them, crossing his arms. “Starting with where Zatanna is and what you did to Dr. Fate and Superman.”
The bunny girl got out a pocket watch from her pocket. She checks the time.
“We can answer the first question now,” she smirked. “We’re right on time.”
She put her watch away and then threw her hands forward yelling “Burrow.” Out popped the same type of portal that Zatanna had disappeared through. And seconds after the portal was opened, out fell the magician.
“What just happened,” Zatanna immediately asked.
“The rest of your comrades will be fine somewhere between five to ten minutes,” the butterfly girl says.
“Before we go into the full explanation, do you guys have a bathroom in this place by any chance,” the leopard girl asked.

(inspired by this // on ao3 // ko-fi)
she’s had the voice in her head for as long as she can remember
well, it’s not exactly a voice, more just like a really strong, disembodied feelings that echoes loudly in her head and body. like, it’s not her gut feelings, it’s an outside force and it’s loud and sometimes scary.
so whatever she calls it a voice when she’s explaining it to others.
this voice, it guides her decision making. it’s not an exact science (yet) but if she thinks in her head ‘i’m gonna go get ice-cream’ the voice will either say WARMER or it’ll say COLDER
well, it won’t say it because it’s not a voice. it’s more like this disembodied feeling feels like it’s saying WARMER or COLDER and she’ll physically feel it as well.
if she’s supposed to get ice cream, she’ll feel a sudden warmth
if she’s not supposed to get ice cream, she’ll feel a sudden chill
she doesn’t know why the voice makes the decisions it does, but she has to assume that it’s leading her towards something, towards success or whatever
at the very least, she has to believe that it’s trying to keep her alive. it’s a survival thing. whatever it is, it’s kept her alive for 26 years and counting.
and though it keeps her alive, it doesn’t always save her from pain. the voice tells her kissing veronica sinclair in the horse stables is a warm idea and veronica ended up breaking her heart and humiliated her in front of the whole school.
when she was four, the voice told her to trust lillian. and that’s led to a whole life of pain.
anyway. the voice.
andrea is the first person she tells about it.
they’re hiking in the amazon during spring break. and, as happens sometimes in life, they come to a diverging path and have to choose. left or right. andrea looks at the compass. ‘it’s not working,’ she says. ‘how fucking convenient,’ lena replies. she sighs and steps to the left path.
‘we’re going left,’ she says emphatically as she feels a familiar warmth roll through her. ‘why?’ andrea asks. ‘i just have a feeling.’
only andrea isn’t swayed by ‘just a feeling.’ she demands more and she refuses to go left until lena finally breaks down and explains the voice
(not a voice.)
‘well what happens if we don’t listen to it??’ andrea asks after a barrage of questions, her analytical mind whirring a mile a minute. lena shrugs, ‘i dunno. i’ve never taken the risk of not listening.’
they go left.
they survive the amazon. the voice is always right.
‘you know,’ andrea says, her head resting against the plane window. ‘my nanny used to tell me stories.’ ‘isn’t that what all nannies do?’ ‘she would tell me stories about people having unexplainable powers or whatever, i don’t remember the details… but i remember her saying that the powers always lead people to the thing they need the most. and it could take months or it could take years but it’s a part of your soul, like, intrinsically in you.’
andrea’s xanax kicks in soon after that and she sleeps for the rest of the plane ride home
lena stays awake the whole flight, wondering what these choices are and what this voice is leading her towards.
the voice leads her through the end of high school and it leads her to MIT (fun fact: she’s never felt a firmer COLDER than she had when she held harvard’s acceptance letter in her hand.)
it really helps her in college. sure, she still makes a lot of what she deems voice-sanctioned mistakes (sleeping with veronica sinclair is at the top of that list) but her grades are stellar and she’s on track for getting her second masters and she has a load of friends.
and then her brother goes insane and tries to kill superman. the sky is red and lena stands in lex’s office overlooking downtown metropolis. ‘join me lena,’ he says. ‘help me and we’ll be unstoppable. we’ve always been a strong family  but believe me, we’ll run this country together one day, i promise you that. all i need you to do is trust me.’ he holds out his hand
for a second, she considers doing it. she doesn’t want to lose her family. i am going to trust my brother.
the voice says COLDER.
lena listens to the voice. she always listens to the voice.
it’s the first time the voice has made her lose something - someone - as important as lex. it’s the first time she thinks that maybe this voice thing doesn’t know what it’s doing because it’s never hurt her like this before.
the fallout from lex’s breakdown feels cataclysmic. her friends stop speaking to her, her professors stop calling on her in class. she can’t even work at the library without being harassed.
and to top it all off, she becomes the youngest female ceo of a fortune 500 company. which means board meetings and strategy sessions all while writing a thesis.
but meeting jack spheer feels like finding a life raft in the middle of a ferocious ocean, keeping her afloat, letting her catch her breath. he’s cute and he’s funny and well-to-do, and he’s the type of person lena knows she should date and possibly marry.
jack is the second person lena tells about the voice. she’s scared because she isn’t sure he’ll believe her, that he’ll drop her like the rest of her friends have.
but jack, bless his heart, just asks a hundred questions. ‘so even things like which sodas to drink?’ ‘the voice doesn’t let me drink soda.’ ‘whoa.’
jack is the first person who’s not veronica sinclair lena tells her other big secret to. they’ve been out drinking and eventually they stumble back to jack’s place and she feels brazen enough to blurt it out while he makes her a grilled cheese sandwich. she doesn’t even have time to wait for the voice’s opinion; the truth just falls out of her, unable to stay contained any longer.
‘i’m gay,’ lena says. ‘and i understand if you don’t agree with that lifestyle, but i’m still the same person i’ve always been and i would like to remain friends with you.’
‘a person with terrible gaydar apparently,’ jack replies. ‘as the kids say, it takes one to know one. i would’ve told you sooner but… i’m sorry i didn’t tell you sooner.’ she surges forward and throws her arms around him, hugging him tightly. neither of them lets go.
the grilled cheese burns.
‘should we just get chinese instead?’
the voice says WARMER.
she’s scared of starting over in national city, but the voice in her head seems to think it’s a WARMER sort of idea.
so she packs her bags and jack says goodbye to her at the airport and before she knows it, she’s looking down at NC from her pristine white office. the CVs of two assistants she’s interviewed. ‘i’m going to hire jess chin-salva as my PA,’ she murmurs to herself. ‘WARMER,’ says the voice.
when jess tells her two reporters are at the door, the strapping frame of clark kent isn’t whom she is expecting. she also isn’t expecting kara danvers to follow close behind, kara danvers whose smile is much too bright and friendly to work for a hardened journalist, whose blue eyes twinkle with a kindness lena has seldom been gifted by others, whose biceps are clearly visible through the cardigan she wears.
lena doesn’t have a choice to make, and yet for some reason it screams at her. WARMER. WARMER.
and then it says something new.
WARMEST
the feeling won’t leave lena’s body, and she struggles to focus on the interaction with the journalists, but she thinks she’s managed to tell them the truth. she’s just trying to rebuild her family’s business. she just wants to do good things and make the world a better place. but it’s hard to focus on any of that when her mind and her body feel like they’re on fire.
it only dies down when kara leaves the room, and lena’s pretty sure that there’s something special about that woman.
except maybe there’s just something about the blue eyed women of national city. because later that day lena’s helicopter is shot down and she finds herself being carried to safety by supergirl and the voice goes batshit crazy again.
‘focus on the fact you’re about to die,’ lena tries to tell it, but it doesn’t listen to her. so instead, she doesn’t look away from supergirl’s steady, reassuring gaze until she flies away. and she wonders why supergirl is a ‘WARMEST’.
‘i heard you almost died,’ jack says when he calls her that night. ‘who cares about that?’ she responds, ‘the weirdest thing happened with the voice.’ she tells him of feeling ‘warmest’, of feeling it twice in one day with two different people, of how it refused to go away and occurred without any decisions to make.
‘ok i’m about to share a document with you,’ he says, and lena can hear him typing on his laptop. ‘there, open it.’
it’s a spreadsheet. holy shit.
‘this is every big decision you’ve ever made,’ jack says. ‘there are also some medium sized decisions thrown in, but mostly just the big ones.’ ‘how the hell do you know all this?’ she asks, shocked. ‘why else do you think i’ve been asking you about all this for so long?’ he replies. ‘every time you tell me something the voice says, it’s gone into this spreadsheet. now, i only have limited knowledge of decisions you made before you met me, but i’ve been able to put in a lot of them based on your stories alone. i thought, what better way for you to try and understand this than to put it into words you understand best?’
‘you’re phenomenal,’ lena tells him. ‘i just… i never thought of this. i just assumed it was all some unknowable hippy dippy nonsense.’
‘i mean, it could definitely still be hippy dippy nonsense. but still take a look at it, see if there are any patterns or anything.’
‘i love you, jack.’ ‘too bad i’m gay, huh’
lena sees a lot more of kara and supergirl, though never at the same time. kombucha dates with kara and supergirl swooping in to save her life every now and again. the voice isn’t as overwhelming in their follow up visits, though a pleasant hum of warmth resides low in her being whenever either of them are around.
maybe, lena thinks, it’s not the voice at all. maybe, she thinks, it’s about time she starts dating again.
but none of the women she sees bring the same warmth that kara and supergirl do.
the decision data that jack put together doesn’t seem to make much sense either. but she continues to add to it, bit by bit.
and then something weird happens.
‘you’re getting more potstickers?’ lena laughs. ‘don’t you have any self control?’
‘i’m only human, lena.’
‘i suppose i should believe you.’
COLDER.
COLDER? she’d never gotten a COLDER near kara before. and why? she shouldn’t believe that kara’s human? of course kara’s human! she’s just an awkward, sweet, kind girl from midvale. it’s not like she’s supergirl, for crying out loud!
holy shit
what the fuck
kara’s supergirl?????
kara’s supergirl. it totally makes sense. why hadn’t she seen it before??????? had she been willfully blind to it?
she made a fool out of me, lena thinks. i should hate her. but the voice says COLDER. huh. so hating kara is off the table.
maybe, she thinks, maybe i knew and i didn’t want to admit it to myself. because clearly kara doesn’t want me to know. and i don’t want to push her into telling me because i don’t want to lose her. i can’t lose her. because i lo---
‘i’m so fucked,’ she tells jack over the phone later that night. ‘kara is supergirl and she doesn’t know that i know and i--’ ‘what is it?’ ‘i think i’m in love with her.’ ‘oh my god FINALLY,’ he yells into the phone. ‘i havent even met kara and i knew you were in love with her. you know she’s all you talk about right? like, you run one of the biggest companies in america and you have a disembodied voice that lives in your head and a million other things going on in your life, and the only thing i’ve heard you talk about for months now is kara danvers.’
‘you did not know’
‘i really did. but im glad you know as well because i can finally present you with my biggest theory on The Voice.’
‘not a voice’
‘remind me what it was that andrea’s aunt or nanny or whoever thought it could be?’
‘that was a million years ago,’ lena says; she hasn’t thought about andrea in ages. she should give her a call. ‘i think it was something about… these types of abilities lead a person to thing they need most in the world.’
‘right. i’ve been doing a lot of new age reading and it hasn’t been pleasant at all and i sort of hated every moment of it, but i think i have some idea of what this could be. it’d explain everything.’
‘well then, what is it?’
‘i don’t think it’s the thing you need most in the world,’ jack says. ‘i think it’s the person you need most in this world.’
‘you mean like-’
‘a soulmate. think about it. somehow every decision that voice has gotten you to make has led you to standing in your office in national city where you met kara for the first time. and what did the voice say when you met kara, completely unprompted?’
‘warmest,’ lena whispers.
‘exactly. warmest. as in, as warm as can be. because the whole time, the thing this voice has been leading you towards is kara danvers.’
lena’s plan for handling all of these revelations is drinking herself into a stupor. and it’s truly wonderful for the most part.
that is, until she wakes up with a headache and someone pounding their fist on her front door.
‘wHAT,’ she yells as she throws open the door.
‘do you want to explain the voicemails you left me last night?’
oh shit. lena’s hungover brain processes that it’s in fact kara standing at the door. she ushers kara in and shuts the door behind them.
‘to be honest with you,’ lena says as she puts on a pot of coffee, ‘i think i’m still a bit drunk and i definitely dont remember what those messages said.’
you said you know i’m supergirl. you said you’re not angry at me for lying to you--’
‘oh that’s not so bad’
‘-- and you said you have proof we’re soulmates.’
fuck.
‘do you want to explain yourself?’
‘can i drink my coffee first?’
… kara watches her drink her coffee.
‘okay,’ lena says. i’ll explain but you can’t ask any questions til the end. deal?’ kara nods.
the third person lena tells about the voice is kara danvers.
‘my whole life i’ve had this… this sort of voice in my head. and when i have a decision to make in front of me, it says WARMER or it says COLDER. it’s how i’ve made every choice since i was four years old, from the clothes i picked to the type of coffee i drink to the college i went to.’
‘like intuition.’
‘not intuition. fuck. i shouldnt tell you any of this.’
COLDER.
‘well. guess i should tell you about this.’
WARMER
‘it’s not intuition. it’s not a gut feeling. it’s not a part of me. it’s something bigger and otherworldly and it’s been leading me my whole life to something… i can only assume something much bigger and more important than i am. except i also think that the thing it’s been leading me to is you. and you don’t have to believe me at all, and god, you don’t have to believe in soulmates but… but far out, kara. i’m in love with you. i’m so in love with you it’s insane. and if you don’t feel the same way, i understand, but please don’t shut me out. i can live without you being in love with me, but i don’t think i can live without you in my life anymore.’
they stand in silence, lena’s plea still hanging in the air between them.
‘on krypton,’ kara says softly. ‘there’s only one way to know if somebody’s your soulmate or not.’
‘how do they do it?’ lena asks, imagining a blood test or a swab or something.
instead kara takes a step closer to her and she puts her hands on lena’s hips and she presses their foreheads together and she says ‘do you feel it?’
‘what--’
but she feels it. a sort of calm washing over them both. the air stills and lena swears she can hear kara’s heart beating and she feels serenity like she’s never felt it before.
‘wow,’ kara says, and before she can stop herself, lena kisses her softly, barely. but it’s still a kiss.
and she can’t really describe it, but she feels the voice leave her.
‘i want to kiss you again,’ lena says. but there’s no voice that says warmer or colder. all there is is kara danvers, nodding her head and saying ‘then kiss me.’
lena has many thoughts about soulmates. she thinks if the universe gives you some sort of magical powers, it should also give you an instruction manual for them. she thinks her soulmate is the most perfect soulmate that’s ever been created ever. but this is the real kicker: lena knows that the voice may have led her to kara, but she’s the one who has to make sure she stays there. they have to put in the work together. love isn’t just a magical feeling, it’s building trust and learning to be selfless and letting someone into your life in a multitude of intimate ways. and now that kara’s in her life, in all of her wonderful glory, there’s no way lena will ever let her go.
