I don't think MK is worried about being a demon monkey thing.

I think he's worried about becoming LBD.

(My theory below, with pictures and colored text, so you don't get bored of course!)

Now I thought this idea up a while back, when I first watched the Jade Emperor episode (which was probably in Chinese when I originally watched it). And what made me think of it was this scene:

(I think I saw someone somewhere say that there weren't any MK reflections in S4, which is a lie because there's one right here. However it's possible that this is the ONLY MK reflection in S4, which actually ties into my theory because his face is reflected over a skull (and guess who's associated with those in this show?))

Now after a while I forgot about it for the most part, but recently I recalled it, and after looking through some of S4 a bit, I've realized that it's actually probably canon.

Now why don't I start by addressing the conversation MK had LBD when she was defeated, the one they had in the white void.

LBD: "Save your hero speech, child. I've existed long enough to know when it's over." MK: "You still think that the universe really wants anything from... any of us?" LBD: "Don't you?" MK: "I try not to think too hard." LBD: "So it would seem." LBD: "Know this, monkey. You and I are not so different. We both fight for what we think is right. That pursuit only leads to one thing." MK: "Mhm, to destiny, right?" LBD: "No. To pain."

Now, while I've noticed several callbacks throughout S4 to not only S3 but maybe even previous seasons (IT'S ALL CONNECTED) I'm mainly going to focus on the fight in Pitiful Creatures and take a look at MK and Subodhi's discussion they had in Show Me the Monster. I've got a lot of thoughts but to spare myself I'm just going to focus on things that relates to my theory.

See if you can follow along.

Master Subodhi: This is not about the Monkey King. There is something more at play here. Something about you." MK: "Wha-? Me? I'm just a regular noodle delivery boy." Master Subodhi: "Ha! Do you even believe that?"

Master Subodhi: "Although this was the stone from which Sun Wukong once sprung, it appears, over time, it was used to form another. A simple creature with no past, no family, and no name. There is a reason you are at the center of these stories. A reason you can harness the power of the Monkey King himself!"

Master Subodhi: "Who or what you are, even I do not know the answer. But of one thing I am certain. Fate has plans for you. Great plans or foul? Time will tell."

MK: "You still think that the universe really wants anything from... any of us?" LBD: "Don't you?"

(Not gonna lie, considering the perception MK's been given on fate (which is a generally pretty cruel and heartless one, considering how it was mainly in tandem with LBD) Master Subodhi telling him fate had plans for him was probably like a giant slap to the face. Like it probably seemed to him like Subodhi was basically saying "lol you're gonna eat shit kid, hope you like being the imposter among us and causing pain and suffering". Especially considering how the one who was always claiming that fate had plans for them was LBD. To MK, Master Subodhi was basically saying that he'd end up like LBD. He was confirming LBD's last words. Hence the "Shifu Subodhi said it himself" line later, even though Subodhi didn't say shit about MK bringing pain and destruction on the world, just fate having plans for him and him being more special than previously thought)

MK: "You're not real. You're just the curse of the scroll trying to get all up inside of my head, just like-" Protective curse: "The Lady Bone Demon? Tell me, what do you think we are? Honestly. 'Cause I have been dying to hear us say it. Out loud."

(Fun fact, when the curse (which is currently formed as MK) says "The Lady Bone Demon?" You can hear LBD's voice in the background saying the exact same thing)

Protective curse: "Seriously? You still think we're just some... 'noodle delivery guy'? You can't remember where we came from, and we got all this power, and you never once thought, why us? What are we?! What is our purpose?!" MK: "Of course I thought about it! I mean, maybe! I was gonna thought about it. I just... I just wanna be me. To be MK!"

MK: "I try not to think too hard."

Protective curse: "We're just like Wukong. A fraud, a trickster, destructive. Why would our legacy be any different? Actually, no, no. The chaos and destruction that we'll bring upon the world will make Wukong's past look like nothing. Shifu Subodhi said it himself, right?" MK: "No. No, you're wrong. I'm-I'm... I'm not—" Protective curse: "Not what? Some monkey demon thing destined to bring chaos upon the world? Come on! Use your words, big brain boy. Say it! What are we?"

(If MK is worried he might be like LBD, then it's possible that his perception of LBD is leaking into his perception of the person he's also been compared with, Monkey King)

(Also, keep in mind LBD posed as a little girl, tricked MK, and tried to destroy the world)

Protective curse: "Yeah, boi! Oh, that's what I'm talking about! You can't escape it. This thing, whatever you are, embrace it. Embrace your destiny!"

(I would once again like to refer to Spider Queen's line of "there's no running from what she is!")

And here's a little treat for ya, several times throughout the show characters have consistently referred to LBD as a "what". Saying stuff like, "There's no running from what she is" and whatnot. Now I want you to go back through the evidence I've presented (heck, maybe even go back through S4), and look for anytime that anyone/anything refers to "what MK is". Go on. I'll be here when you get back, pinky promise. :)

(Fun fact, when MK was telling DBK what LBD was, he said she was an "ancient demon". Now in S4, MK is wondering if he's a demon monkey)

Now, there are many more references I could make here. But, to spare my sanity, and to keep you from getting bored from seeing the same shit over and over again, I'll move on now, and instead invite you to look for connections like this in the show on your own time.

For my final point before I end this post, I would like to say something. I don't think the concept of LBD and MK having things in common started with the white void scene. I think, it started here:

MK: "It's ok. I get it. It's scary being alone."

LBD wasn't the one to make the connection first. MK was. That they were alike in some way. Here, in Minor Scale Major Lift. A season 2 episode. And the one where he first met her.

And, funnily enough, it's possible that there could be more references in Minor Scale Major Lift. For example:

LBD: "You were right, you know. It's scary being alone! I do pity you."

Meanwhile the episode I referenced the most in this post is called Pitiful Creatures. Plus, in that episode, MK tells the scroll to "get out of his head", and in Minor Scale Major Lift, the Lady Bone Demon "got into his head" so to speak.

Ya know, I think it's funny. We all heard LBD compare herself with MK, telling him that they were alike. Yet, we never seemed to consider that maybe MK actually believed her.

Hello there! I hope your month has been kind to you. This is the blog that deal with LMK, right? There's a theory floating around that MK is gonna shatter Wukong's staff in the middle of their predicted fight or at the start of it in the canon show. How do you feel about that?

On an unrelated note, what are your thoughts on the staff that Wukong uses? I'd say it's name but fear incorrectly saying it Have you watched the Netflix Monkey King movie? In that movie the staff is shown to be very obviously sentient with its own thoughts and options, and isn't shy about vibrating, humming about them. Do you consider this with your thoughts on Wukong and his staff too?

Have a good month, do not skip your meals and enjoy them, drink plenty of water and sleep early regularly.

hmmmm I'm not sure how I feel about that, exactly. I'm not much a fan of destroying such an iconic (and basically indestructible) weapon for the sake of shock value, since I don't really see any other reason for such a narrative decision. same about FFM being destroyed; its literally glazed over and, I kind of hate that /gen

you gotta keep in mind that yes this is just an inspired story but, FFM is a sacred mountain. in jttw its described in a way that it could easily be Mt Sumeru, the axis that sits on the center of the world and holds up the Heavenly realms. its, A Big Fucking Deal. same for the Ruyi Jingu Bang, it's the rod of celestial iron that held down the oceans by the Great Yu, it prevented floods during a time where those almost ruined the middle kingdom (China).

destroying them brings nothing to the story imo besides maybe Lego gaining the window to showcase another locations so they can sell more toy models. which, yes is the entire reason the show exists, to sell toys, but also..... eugh. in my ideal scenario, we gets to see FFM being restored and fixed up, thanks to everybody's efforts.

as for the second question, yes I've watched it though i gotta say, i am very much not the target audience x.x besides the first few minutes in Huaguoshan and the 2D sequence, i didnt like much about it. That said, im a sucker for sentient weapons hwbdhshbsbe

in the 1996 liveaction series of Journey to the West, Jingu Bang is also sentient and despite the dated graphics, it's some fun sequences when the staff gets to to its antics! plus 96 Xiyouji is just, such an emotional and genuinely good time of a series, I def recommend it to folks even if it changes A Lot about the canon and narrative. that's one adaptation that i think did the whole changes to the book source INCREDIBLY right.

while the staff is not much given sentience in the book, it does seem to Know that Wukong is its fated wielder and responds to him exclusively, which does give some credence to sentient weapons interpretations. that said, i do view the staff as an extension of Wukong rather than i suppose you could call a partner in arms. it's his signature weapon, what defines him as Him in iconography and depictions. same goes for Nezha with his artillery sash, fire-wind wheels, and fire-tipped spear!

[Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works] : Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Sprites

The Marvel vs. Capcom series is affectionately known for it's stellar sprite work, so when Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds was announced to have 3D visuals, some fans were a bit disappointed.

Despite it not looking like previous entries in the franchise, Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ended up looking great. Less than a year after it's a debut, an updated version titled Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was released. This revision added characters like Hawkeye, Frank West, Iron Fist and Firebrand to the roster of playable characters.

In 2012, Capcom teamed up with their frequent collaborator Udon Entertainment to release Marvel vs. Capcom: Official Complete Works. This book contains concept art, promotional pieces and other works from the artists who worked on the series.

Two years later, a special "2D" edition of this book with a slipcover featuring sprites of the MvC3 & UMvC3 newcomers was released for a limited time. These new sprites were created by former Udon comic book illustrator and Overwatch character designer, Arnold Tsang.

Interestingly enough, (most of) these sprites were not created specifically for this book. Tsang originally posted these sprites on his DeviantArt page two years before this book was released.

The only exception is Arthur. As seen above, Tsang didn't create new sprites for MvC3's veteran characters like Ryu, The Hulk, Felicia and Magneto.

Storm's sprite is a heavily edited sprite of hers from previous games. Jill also received a new sprite, because her MvC3 incarnation is essentially a brand new character. A new "evil" version, if you will.

Even though he wasn't playable in a previous game, Arthur did appear as an assistant character in Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, so Tsang used his sprites from that for his collage of characters seen above.

For whatever reason, Tsang created a brand new sprite that more closely resembles his appearance and fighting stance from Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for the purposes of this book.

Tsang's sprites look like they were created by Capcom's best pixel artists during their heyday. If you're interested in seeing more his art, check out his DeviantArt and ArtStation pages. If you check out his DA page, you might even notice that some of his other sprites would also be retroactively used by one his former employers.

Board me strikes again in the form of another story idea after listening to the song "Stronger Then My Storm" by Citizen Soldier on repeat for ages while just being in a monkey king mood.

In particular, what if Wukong didn't go on the journey to the west, what if he was never freed from the mountain he was trapped under till a few years before the LMK show's Mk appeared, what if spending that long being stuck trapped with the weight of a mountain on his back and only occasionally getting "food" in the form of molten or red hot metal left it's mark on Wukong's body.

Note, if you like the idea after reading the basics I set up feel free to use it, all I ask is to link it to me later! I want to read other people's interpretation!

So, the way I am playing this is that Wukong got imprisoned under the mountain for the same reason as in the original tale (though it isn't yet shown why he was put under the mountain in the show, it is somewhat implied that it might have been his punishment for defying heaven and trying to take over with his brotherhood because there are no indications so far that the imprisonment under the mountain was related to the celestial horse stampede or the massive party crash and subsequent defeating of the celestial army... Twice if you include the havoc he caused after escaping the furnace... That in the original tale gets the Buddha called on him and leads to his subsequent imprisonment. Wukong had to have been punished for his and the groups attack on Heaven and we do not know when in the timeline this event falls, so all we can assume as of now is that the mountain was his punishment). However, instead of getting freed after 500 years to go on the Journey to the West, the Jade Emperor decided Wukong was too dangerous to be re-release into the world despite Guanyin's promise that she would give the Buddhist monk Tripitaka a method to keep the celestial monkey in check. Instead, the Jade Emperor "threatens" the Six-Eared Macaque, who at this point knows Wukong was trapped under the mountain (for how long, no clue, we don't get any tells when in the timeline Mac visited Wukong, so I'm going to say within the first 100 years) and had taken to being the Macaque King of Flower fruit mountain since he figured Wukong would never return, into being a member of the Journey to the West after basically getting a contract from the Emperor that at no time during his time away from his island may the Celestial army or any of its soldiers or denizens of the celestial realm invade and destroy their island in retaliation for Wukong's "crimes" and once the journey is complete this will remain in place since all crimes will have been paid for.

As such, Wukong never met Ao Lie, Sha Wujing, Zhu Bajie, or Tang Sanzang and history would only know Wukong as the first king of Flower Fruit Mountain/the Monkey King due to the tales passed down of his journey for immortality and his subsequent imprisonment when he goes to far, using him mainly as a message for never letting yourself become so engrossed in your plans for the future that you stop seeing the harm your actions cause in the present. This also means that none of the deaths or imprisonment that would happen in the original tale/the demons and immortals that Wukong met along the way would know him or have happened. We would have to assume Mac helped imprison Lady Bone Deamon as well as extract the Sumadi Fire from Red Son and that whatever caused D.B.K.'s rampage (which I believe is somewhat implied to be LBD), at what I am currently assuming was just after the Journey to the West, never happened.

However, despite the winds of fate having shifted so far off course, the world will always try to align it's self with the intended path of history. As such, Tang (who I am imagining as more of an archaeologist instead of a pure historical scholar like he is in the show) would still be obsessed with the Journy to the West and the tales relating to it, particularly with the tales of the First King of Flower Fruit Mountin. As such, he takes many a trip out to find historical ruins and sights to try and find remnants of forgotten tales about this long lost King. As such, roughly 3 years before MK would be found in front of Pigzy's shop, Tang would find the the mountain range Wukong was trapped under and unintentionally find his was down into his imprisonment chamber, where he would find the comatose King still taped with roughly 260 billion (this is only an estimate of what Quora says an average mountain weighs) tons of mountain on top of him, with the magic spells keeping him locked up weakened (because time will affect anything, including magic as shown in the show), but still active. Upon seeing this and recognising who this must be Tang would rush to the nearest town, get some stone breaking supplies, rush back to the mounting and climb the mountain to remove the seal that was told in legend to be keeping the king trapped under the mountain. Tang would then go back down into the cavern of Wukong's imprisonment and spend many days slowly chiseling the comatose former King out of the mountain. After which he would take wukong to his vehicle and bring him back to Megapolis and checking the king into a hospital under the guise of being just a plain old Demon Monkey who he doesn't know the name of, since revealing Wukong as the lost king could end horribly for the injured and comatose King.

Wukong would spend a year within this hospital (with all bills being paid for by a donation fund set up for demons who have not registered or no not wish to register into modern-day identification systems that is funded by wealthy deamon families that want to help their fellow demons in this modern age) in a coma, eventually waking up after many centuries of unconsciousness. After which he has to learn how to speak, write, and walk again after many months of therapy learning during this time through talks with his savior, talks with the doctors, and self examination the true gravity of his current situation.

That being that he was isolated from the world for over 1000 years (having been in a coma for what the monkey can only guess is 500 years of that time span or so) and is now in a world completely different from the one he knew, he is now an enigma of history only really known for his cautionary tale, his throat and stomach had been heavily damaged from the centuries of being forced to eat molten metal leaving his voice quiet and gravely and his stomach paralyzed (though the doctors suspect over time it may heal), that so long with so much weight on his lower back has left him a paraplegic (with odds of him ever fully recovering being low by the doctors examinations), and that most if not all of his Chi (magic? mana? energy? who knows, the show never properly names this internal energy source) is blocked off and it could take year's for him to reopen all the ley lines in his body to use more high-intensity incantations and auras again for battle, if he can ever fight again.

During his time in the hospital, and then in hospice as he regains his strength, Wukong and Tang become friends, and Tang (after a chat with Pigzy who the partially broke archaeologists is living with) invites Wukong, who decided to hide himself in this new day and age under his old name "Shí Hóu", to come live with them. There are some minor issues in the beginning for the three due to needing to figure out how to work with a house member in a wheelchair the majority of the time, but they all make it work eventually and after a while Wukong finds a job in the animation industry and adds another income to the apartment dwelling household. Eventually MK joins the three after a appearing at Pigzy's shop and Wukong essentially becomes the babysitter of the group, what with having the least dangerous and most easily able to multitask job.

Thanks to MK Wukong meets Redson for the first time after a 6 year old MK runs off while Wukong and him are at a coffee shop and Redson, being much more kind-hearted due to not losing his father, helps Wukong out after the monkey man manages to either lose or fall out of his whealchair. And Red son, now curious about the monkey who somewhat reminds him of the Sun Wukong from his father's old tales starts to insert himself into Wukong's life. Leading to Red basically ending up as MK's big brother figure and leading to MK becoming friends with Mei due to Red and his family having connections with other mystical families like those of the dragon from the journey to the west. This could lead to DBK and Wukong meeting again early on, or much later then in the show depending on how you want to spin it, however I would do it as they meet earlier, but DBK does not know Shí Hóu is Wukong until much later. Though Wukong would know and be somewhat depressed thinking he lost his last brother to time because revealing himself could lead to DBK denouncing him (not that DBK would).

How the original show would progress from there would depend on the writer's interpretation, but I would still have Monkey king teach MK to fight and such, but with MK being more patient and understanding of not being able to get into intense battle-type things due to Wukong being a paraplegic. And without any Mac interference, because he thinks Wukong is still in prison, and would at most think "huh... This kid strangely has a lot of Wukong's powers and skills. Weird, but oh well."

SPOILERS FOR LEGOMONKIEKID SEASON 4

DAMN CAN WE TALK ABOUT AZURE PLS?!? seriously I both love and hate him sm. He almost seems too good to be true in the sense that he genuinely seems to believe in his cause (like LBD) and believes his way is the only way (like LBD) but is obviously going about it the wrong way (like LBD) but unlike LBD he genuinely seems compassionate and kind BUT also simultaneously being cruel. I think the scene with DBK and his family is just peak representation of Azure lions character. His cause heavily suggests he's compassionate , but when DBK refuses to see it his way , he imprisons him and iron fan. NOT because he was once a demon who wanted to enslave the people Azure supposedly wants to protect ,or because he wanted to take over the WORLD , but because doesn't see eye to eye with him . I mean realistically he knew DBK wouldnt have stood against Azure and protect Heaven ( and probably wouldn't have even know about his plan if Azure himself hadn't told him.) ALSO just his hatred he has for PIF DESPITE the fact that she's no longer affiliated with Heaven and left heavens ranks to be with DBK. Also just him allowing Redson to get away just so all of Heaven could be waiting for their arrival and eventually gooping him all because he stood with Heaven (also can we talk about that scene like DAYUM.) Like dude you just gooped his parents OFC he's gonna stand against you !! Like characters like Azure are so conflicting because on one hand when he's talking I'm nodding my head like "yeah he kind has a point" but he's also clearly not a good dude despite the fact that his reason for fighting is genuinely such a good one. I dunno it almost feels like he's a solider fighting a war that's already over. He's a warrior people no longer need and that's why he's a bad guy? Like yes bad things still happen in the world but it's literally the modern age in LMK. People aren't as helpless as they used to be . if people get sick, they don't need to cry out to the heavens for help and wait on a miracle , they get up and take a trip to the drug store or go to the doctor. If someone's home burns down by the cruel twist of fate, they use their insurance , buy a new one , maybe even use machines too build a new one. Food , clothes ,housing , all mass produced and easily available (mostly anyway) I mean the city MK lives in canonically has a weather station that controls the weather so they can always have sunny beautiful days!! The people no longer need this antagonism , they don't need a "savior" to fight against heaven or create a "paradise" on Earth , because they already have one ! (Or close anyway lol), and that's why Azures plan is so unwelcome . (Also because it ends with the murder of the jade emporer but you get the gist) I dunno thats my take on it , regardless tho , Azure has my heart , but I also pray he gets his ass beat . Amen

Shadowpeach:

You met them by mk when you ran into him; scared and nervous on how you got here and the fact that your now a Pokémon after you died at such a young age.

You like macaque more than sun as he seems to understand what it’s like to die and be alive again wether a different species or not; of course that doesn’t mean you didn’t like sun it’s just you haven’t gotten used to him, though he does remind you of a infernape that you’ve seen in a book before.

Macaque makes sure that you’re comfortable with them and don’t have a panic attacks for your situation as he knows he had them before, sun makes sure you’re safe and sound, nice and cozy plus making sure the other monkeys know how to act around you as you’re going to be the heir along with bai he and with mk being the prince.

They both agree that you shouldn’t go out as there might be something or someone that can kill you; well as long you’re with them or mk then maybe it’s fine but there will still be precautions needed.

You do hobbies with them and the monkeys and of course with your new brother and sister.

When the others met and see you and learned about how you remembered your past life as a human child before you died made them feel so sad and pity you though they try to make sure they don’t show it as it might not be what you want from them.

They will make sure you never go through that same pain ever again and make sure you don’t end in the same fate as before; wether it’s by killing the possible reason for it or to isolate you to make sure it doesn’t happen at all.

Dbk family:

When you had died all you felt was cold and not a inch of warmth, so when you arrived to this world you tried to find the warmest place to live as you couldn’t deal with the cold any longer, so that’s how you found them surrounded by things that keep warmth that they call home.

You actually ran; or well float, and bumped into dbk first as he was watching his cooking show, you smelled the food he had made that he followed on and decided you wanted some.

He at first didn’t notice you but soon after his cooking show is finished and all the food he had made for himself is gone he finally noticed you.

He brought you to his wife so she can decide what to do with you as you’re just a child and they may be demons but they wouldn’t hurt a child.

She decided it would be great idea to keep you as seeing as you’re already dead and probably won’t be adopted because of it plus she always wondered what it’s like to have a another child to take of and with the fact that she hardly have any girls day as the only girls she knows fear her or hate her for her status.

Redson started treating you like a sibling fast that he grew a soft spot for you soon.

He also makes sure that you have a tracking device that you don’t know about in case you’re in danger and need their help plus a alert button that you know as a way to tell them when you’re in that situation; though they hardly let you go out unless it’s with them so you would hardly need to use it, of course if you’re kidnapped that would be a moment but that person is good as dead after they get you to safety as no one messes with a member of their family without consequences.

Freenoodles:

Mk brought you to them as he met you close to the gravity arcade; he noticed how you’re alone and brought you to a pair of his parents figures he have.

Tang is the one that makes you more comfortable with them and made sure that you know that pigsy is just a tough nut to crack and that he means well deep down.

You soon get parental vibes from pigsy as you spend more time with him wether tang and mk forced him or not, he even lets you eat noodles for free unlike his husband who has the capability to actually pay for his noodles.

You also promised to not give your noodles to tang as he would surely ask you if he could.

When they found out that you had died before taken on the form of a phantump they all made sure not to mention it as it could still be a hard thing to talk about they were very sir when you told them what had happened to you so soon.

Tang likes to tell you about stories a lot which you’re fine with as you very much like stories, he even told about how they defeated a evil woman named lady bone demon or for short lbd; which was apart of their plan to make you scared to go without them around to keep you safe.

As long as you stay with them then everything is all good; and if not then they’ll have to bring the others in wether it was by someone or something trying to lure you away from your safe hold or you wanting to explore even though it’s not safe for you, I mean you died doing that so why take any chances?

Nezha:

You honestly don’t know how you got to this grand and luxurious looking place when you met him.

He didn’t really know how you got here but knew that you seemed to not be a threat for right now though that didn’t mean he fully trust you yet.

He knows that he should inform the higher ups but there’s this feeling he shouldn’t do that as they might do something to you if he did.

Though when sun stole the map he had to bring you as to not get the higher ups after you as well.

After everything finally settles and almost everything went to normal he decided to make sure to spend more time with you as he doesn’t know when something like this would happen again.

He trusts mk so when he can’t be with you then you’re probably with him which led to sun teasing him after he found out about you so nezha usually just let mk babysit you when he’s at pigsy and won’t be around sun.

All and all nezha soon make sure you’re always with him unless a dangerous arises and needs him and when he can’t be around you when that comes he makes sure to give you to a worthy caretaker until then.

21. Who is/are your favorite character(s) to write?

This is such a great question! Since I have quite a lot of WIPs, I have a lot of favorite characters I love to write about as well - so, for the sake of making this answer easier for me, I'll choose some characters from Enchanted Illusions and Of Starlight and Beasts to narrow down the list (and because these two WIPs are my "Words Into Potions" project this March!)

While I like almost all of my main characters and POV characters some of them just take the cake when it comes to being the ones I have the most fun writing and creating!

I'll give a quick summary to each of the characters I mention here (:

Of Starlight and Beasts

Leora Tallin - a young warrior from the former kingdom of Idrevan, which was conquered and annexed by the Crimson Queen's army generations ago. Leora was once a terrified orphan child whose magic caught the attention of Meira's army, who intended to have her trained as a soldier for their wars - a fate she narrowly escaped thanks to her older sister rescuing her. Now, Leora is the leader of a growing faction in Idrevan's underworld, seeking to offer the oppressed a chance of freedom away from the Crimson Queen's hold on their land. She's very much a brash, "strike first, ask questions later" type of character, and is also highly intelligent - while she yearns for her revenge on the General who ruined her childhood - a General who also nearly killed her adoptive brother - Leora also knows that openly standing up to Queen Meira without a plan would be a disaster waiting to happen, and so she waits and grows her power for the perfect opportunity to take a stand.

Arammys Lochlain (also this book's certified cinnamon roll!): Arammys is a young man whose memories of his past were stolen from him, for a reason he does not know. He is also the Starlit Guardian - (someone who has the most ancient and powerful magic their world can possess, a power said to be remnants of the power that created the realms, a magic which his family line have been the carriers of for millennia now). I love writing Arammys because, he's just the sweetest, kindest, most pure-of-heart character in this whole series - and despite his normally pacifist manner, he is also someone people really, really shouldn't mess with. I guess I just really love the "cinnamon roll that could kill you" type of characters lmao! He is the love interest of Corah, one of the main characters, and their story is one of my all-time favorite subplots this book has to offer!

Eidan Delythen - A formerly bright-eyed inventor, ward of a noble family, Eidan's world was destroyed and torn upside down by his treasonous uncle. Blaming himself for the fate of those he once called family, who died at the hands of his uncle, Eidan resigned himself to a life of solitude, whilst he sought a way to put an end to the evils and beasts that the corrupted magic of the Crimson Queen's magic brought to the land, as a way to redeem himself. He's very much a morally grey, scheming character when he is first introduced to the story, which I think is part of the reason why I love writing him so much - at first, he finds himself joining the MCs in their quest because he believes it will advance his goals, but as the story progresses and their bond starts to grow he genuinely starts caring about his newfound friends and participating on the quest for the right reasons while remaining quite the schemer when it comes to plotting the villains' downfalls. I guess it is just so cool to write the character whom he becomes later on in the book - still a morally grey, scheming character who manipulates situations for his gain, but who now does it with a noble goal in mind, to help his friends.

Tomasa Flammyr - She lives in the kingdom's coastal city, and is hopelessly in love with her girlfriend, Nadya. Tomasa also has high hopes of one day joining the royal Navy - her whole reason for helping the main cast, other than stopping the Crimson Queen will save thousands of innocents, is that she believes this is her chance to become the hero she dreamed of, just like the ones in the tales she was told growing up, and that it'll also be her chance to impress her future in-laws. She also happens to be a very (literally, physically and mentally, she's unbelievably strong) strong female character - she could carry most of the main characters with one arm and be unfazed - which, for me, is one of the reasons I love writing her so much. Other than that, she is just a really sweet person who also is a brave and honorable fighter, who loves puppies and all things cute in the world, but who also could defeat a giant in a five-minute brawl. Her secret shapeshifting ability is also a part of one of the greatest plot twists of the book! (:

Enchanted Illusions

Augustus Grimmure - One of the book's protagonists, Augustus is an all-powerful necromancer who made a deal with the deamon Deathbringer (an ancient entity of their world) for more power after being betrayed by his peers. He dreams of creating a world where innocent people are safe from harm, and where progress can really flourish - and being an "anti-hero" type of character, he believes that this can only achieved by purging all those who are pointlessly cruel and abusive from the city, eliminating the worst criminals, the kind of people who would create more injustices like the ones he faced. I just love how, while he is a morally grey character who often does questionable things for a noble/good goal (and is not above killing his enemies), he is also a kind and caring young scholar who wants to keep his friends and loved ones safe and happy. The dichotomy of someone who can go "I'll devour your soul" to criminals/his sworn enemies, and then do a 180° and go back home to his friends and family like nothing happened, straight up "Do you want hot chocolate, my dear?", is very fun and compelling for me to write!

Marcus Kallihan - The most dangerous assassin Ansburke has ever seen, Marcus Kallihan rose from street urchin to king of one of the most powerful mobs in the city. He runs the city's criminal underworld with an iron fist, ensuring that while his business is booming, innocent and honest folk can have a better and brighter future than the one he had. He runs The Fair - a giant underworld city-like landscape underneath the city of Ansburke, where he welcomes the outcasts and misfits from all around the region, and where he conducts most of his underworld business as well. He is a mobster with a strict moral compass, much different than his fellow mob bosses in other gangs, and due to him being a very much "Robin Hood" like figure, is adored by the people. He is also known as the Phoenix. I just love how his character is a badass with a heart of gold who took "the cards he was dealt with" and used them as a chance to give people like him a different fate than his, so that no other street kid had to resort to crimes to get by, like he had to.

(Most characters in Enchanted Illusions are antiheroes, which is really due to the world they live in, and that's very interesting dynamic as a whole for me)

Evangeline Daemitya - Daughter of the richest and most powerful man in the city (Damien Daemitya, heir of the most influential family in Ansburke, and also a member of the city's High Council of Sorcerers), Evie is a very sweet, studious, and opinionated lady, despite her sheltered existence. She has the means to make this city a better place, and when she discovers a conspiracy involving the nobility of the city, Evie takes it upon herself to change the way things are about to go. She's determined, madcap, and stubborn, a daredevil at heart who is not afraid of taking risks and leaps of faith if it means getting things done, while also being one of the most polite and pure characters in the book. She's very feminine and very strong at the same time! She wants to be a good person - unlike her callous, abusive ex-step-mother, who made a great part of her past a living hell - and use her extensive monetary means, as well as her knowledge, to give the city a chance at progress.

Into, Across and Beyond! Scripting: Hues of Trouble

(Hues of Metal is by kkirby999. If he ever wishes to make a dub of this in his style, he's more than welcome to do so!)

Dimension HOM-2023 - Eggman's Mountain Base

OMT!Tails slipped into the base, activating his nanomachine suit to avoid triggering the alarms.

OMT!Tails: Alright, I'm in. From what Skye told me, Melody should be in here somewhere. I just gotta be careful not to run into any of the robots here. They're no S.S.S.S.S. Squad, so they won't be fooled by disguises.

He headed forward, hearing a conversation nearby.

Metallix: ...and what's even funnier is that after Sonic chases down the Eggrobo AND the Prototype, Mk. II has a chance to go kill Sonic! But instead, he goes out of his way to assassinate the person he hired to assassinate Sonic!!!

Mecha Mk. I / Silver Sonic / Carl: Why the fuck would he do that when he had Sonic in his sights?

Metallix (amused): I don't know. But it's absolutely HYSTERICAL! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

OMT!Tails slipped past them. Soon enough, he hid as he noticed Metal Sonic and Prototype holding Melody hostage.

Metal Sonic: Okay, ma'am. Your attitude will not be getting you outta this one so easily. So I'm going to ask ONE last time; where did you come from, and for what reason?

Prototype: Yeah! Better start answering if you don't wanna get blown up.

Melody: Information of my universe is to be kept between me and my family, thank you very much!

Metal Sonic: Great. Of COURSE she won't tell us anything.

Melody: I mean, what else would you expect me to do? Talk on and on about other worlds? It'd overload your circuits just thinking about it, tin-buckets.

Metal Sonic: Tin-?! (angry gibberish) Okay, I've had it with you! Prototype, get her escorted to another area of the base!

Prototype: Right away! Come along, missy.

Melody: Name's Melody!

Prototype: Okay, whatever. Come on!

Prototype left with Melody in tow as OMT!Tails stepped out of hiding, Metal hearing the footsteps behind him.

Metal Sonic: Wait. Who's-?

He saw OMT!Tails in his nanomachine suit.

Metal Sonic: Hold on... I don't remember Eggman commissioning another Tails robot. Only one we have is Tails Doll.

OMT!Tails: Oh, me? I was recently manufactured! I'm... Steel Tails Version 0.9!

Metal Sonic: Aww, brilliant! A pleasure to meet you, new guy!

They shook hands.

OMT!Tails: (Heh. It actually fooled him?)

Metal Sonic: Right. So, duties, duties...

OMT!Tails: We'll think about that later. Right now, a different Sonic is coming here after having chased me.

Metal Sonic: A "different" one? How different is he? Does he carry dancing bananas in a backpack? Is he not quite AS fast as Sonic?

OMT!Tails: Well, red pupils, different shoes, 10 times more aggressive, wants to define people's fates...

Metal Sonic: Urgh... I hate that guy even more than Sonic, and we haven't even met yet. Well, sounds like we need to prepare. Come along, Steel!

OMT!Tails: Alright!

As they prepared to walk off, OMT!Tails suddenly shook in sudden pain.

OMT!Tails: Argh!

Metal Sonic: S-Steel?

OMT!Tails got up as Metal noticed something under his eyes that shocked him.

Metal Sonic: Uh, Steel... Your eyes? They're, uh...

OMT!Tails: Huh? What's going on?

Metal Sonic: There's... red oil coming out of them?

OMT!Tails, confused, wiped under one of his eyes and looked in horror, looking away in upset.

OMT!Tails: (T-The virus... It got me...)

Metal Sonic: Steel, are you alright?

OMT!Tails: M-My body's infected with a virus...

Metal Sonic: Like a computer one? Right. I'll take you in for repairs immediately!

OMT!Tails: No no no no! I'll get it "patched" when I return to the base I came from.

Metal Sonic: Steel, I'm tryin' to look out for you here. We've only just met, and you need sorting out. What if it gets worse when the dark-and-edgy Sonic gets here?

OMT!Tails: L-Let's not think about that, Metal. It's why I won't stay for long.

Metal Sonic: Right. Okay, come on. I swear, I'm gonna have to chastise Prototype for his oil arrangement later... "Sort it by taste", my screws...

They walked across the base grounds.

OMT!Tails: So, in return for me helping you fend off the intruder, I've just got one thing to ask.

Metal Sonic: Yes?

OMT!Tails: I need to take the, er, prisoner you were with before with me.

Metal Sonic: Well, a deal's a deal. Plus she needs to be more careful with her mouth.

OMT!Tails: Right.

OMT!Tails wiped under his eyes to keep the blood from getting worse.

Metal Sonic: So what do you need that girl- er, "Melody", for anyways?

OMT!Tails: Well, mainly to get her back to her dimension before things get out of hand.

Metal Sonic: Right. So I presume that you were manufactured at one of those-?

Suddenly, the area shook as alarms blared.

OMT!Tails: Uh oh! He's here!

Metal Sonic: Darn it! We need to hurry!

Metal took Tails's hand as they sped ahead, finding where Metallix was.

Metal Sonic: Metallix!

Metallix: Huh? What's the rush now, Metal?

Metal Sonic: A really aggressive Sonic just broke in and is tearing things asunder!

Metallix: That explains all the ruckus. (through a nearby loudspeaker) The lot of you, get over to this area! There's an intruder fast approaching!

On cue, Rocket Metal, Prototype, Mk. II and Silver Sonic showed up with Mecha-Knuckles.

Mecha Sonic Mk. II: Bet you a can of oil that it's Sonic.

OMT!Tails: Oh, it's Sonic, alright. Just not (y)our Sonic.

Silver Sonic: What do you mean not our Sonic?

Silver Sonic's question was answered as LM!Sonic approached, prompting the robots to get into combat positions.

LM!Sonic: You seven shouldn't be a part of this. Hand the kid over, and nobody gets hurt!

Rocket Metal: Like, nice try, ya scoundrel! I know yas for what you really are! You're one of those stereotypical Australian tourists! You come to mock us for doing stuff the way WE wanna do it?! Dis-cos-tan!!!

LM!Sonic: Hmph. One to talk for someone who HAS a constant Australian accent.

Metallix: You're that "dark-and-edgy" Sonic? Pah! Destroying you won't take long. Now, let's dance, hedgehog!

Metallix led the charge, knocking LM!Sonic backwards.

Mecha-Knuckles (using a Heavy Weapons Guy voice chip): Kill them all? Good idea! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Mecha-Knuckles charged with the others as Prototype readied his rocket launcher...

"ROCKET LAUNCHER!"

...and charged into the fray with the others.

Metal Sonic: If you wanna get that prisoner, Steel, now's your chance. Once you're done that, get back outta here! If we get the chance, we'll do better introductions another time!

Metal dashed off as OMT!Tails fled to the other direction to find Melody. The fight continued with the Hues of Metal working together to fend off LM!Sonic, who put up one heck of a fight against all seven of them.

Mecha Sonic Mk. II: Hold still so we can destroy you already, creep!

Mecha-Knuckles: Here I come!

Mecha-Knuckles tackled LM!Sonic into a laser barrier area, accidentally getting himself stuck with LM!Sonic in that same area as Metal and Prototype caught up.

LM!Sonic: Lights out, "knuckle-head"!

LM!Sonic, energised by a fraction of each Chaos Emerald, threw a water bolt at Mecha-Knuckles, who promptly began malfunctioning.

Mecha-Knuckles: Oh, this is b-AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-!

And then he exploded as LM!Sonic turned his attention to the barriers locking him inside.

Metal Sonic: So you think you can define how we go about our lives?! Sicko. Prototype, hit that lever!

Prototype did so, setting off the pistons to attack LM!Sonic with.

Prototype: That should hold him for a bit, but not for long.

Metal Sonic: Then we'd better up our game!

Metal's eyes flickered as he prepared to get serious. Over with OMT!Tails, he raced full-speed toward a pair of Motobugs hauling Melody away, smashing them both and freeing the critters inside.

OMT!Tails: Gotcha!

Melody: Huh?! Are you another of those robots?!

OMT!Tails lowered his disguise to reveal his true identity.

OMT!Tails: No. I'm Tails!

Melody: Another version of my dad?

OMT!Tails: Yeah. And I'm getting you back out of here to find your brother.

Melody: Thanks. That means a lot.

However, Metallix was coming back to find OMT!Tails, realising that he got duped before.

Metallix: Hey! Nobody said you could make off with that prisoner, fox!

OMT!Tails: Uh, Metal did earlier.

Metallix: What?! You mean-?! GRR! I'm literally surrounded by idiots here! I'll deal with you myself while they're dealing with that Sonic!

Metallix charged at them as they bolted it through the base. One of the rooms they had to escape through was a storage compartment of boxes, and when they knocked some over on the way out, out spilled a few Dancing Bananas onto the floor as Metallix slowed down.

Metallix: What do you think you're doing?! That took me four weeks to fully sort out! Don't either of you know the dangers of a Danc... ing...?!

Metallix realised too late he was in range of the knocked over bunch that were about to explode.

Dancing Bananas (all at once): I LIKE CEREAL!

Metallix: GAH-!

BOOM!

Outside, the explosion rocked the area Tails and Melody were escaping to.

Melody: We tripped BOMBS in there?

OMT!Tails: I didn't see what was in those crates.

Metallix boosted at full speed, knocking OMT!Tails into a wall and causing the bleeding eyes to show again.

OMT!Tails: Oh, no...

Metallix: You may have duped the other robots, but I'm smarter than the rest of them!

He got ready to do one last attack to kill OMT!Tails.

Metallix: Any last words, Miles Prower?!

OMT!Tails: Well, um... Super Mario Bros. Z still isn't canon?

Metallix reacted in shock to that, trying to charge at OMT!Tails...

Metallix: Shi-!

...before disappearing into thin air.

OMT!Tails: Phew!

Melody: How did you do that?

OMT!Tails: Guess it's something that upsets him. Let's make tracks before he reappears again!

OMT!Tails activated a warp ring to get them out.

Melody: Oh! Before we go...

OMT!Tails: Huh?

Melody wiped under his eyes for him.

OMT!Tails: I was about to do that, but... thanks!

Melody: Anytime!

They made their leave. Back where the battle was, Metal was managing to wipe the floor with LM!Sonic on his own.

LM!Sonic: GAH! How?!

Metal Sonic: They don't call me Metal Sonic for no reason! Now, you wanna clear it back where you came from, or do we have to incinerate you or capture you to siphon your power?

LM!Sonic twitched on the spot, a slasher smile sporting to show that his sanity was dwindling fast.

LM!Sonic: Heheheheheheh... Alright, scrap can! You wanna kill me? Well, too bad, freak!

He unleashed a massive shockwave that knocked the 5 robots backwards.

LM!Sonic: No being will be able to stop me once my foothold on the multiverse is secured, not even any of those miserable "ultimate lifeforms". All WILL follow their destinies, or risk their universe falling apart. I'll play with you metal menaces some other time.

LM!Sonic left through a portal, Metal realising LM!Sonic's true plan and rushing to relay it to OMT!Tails. In the landscape between worlds, OMT!Tails got the call.

Metal Sonic: Steel! It's Metal Sonic! That evil Sonic knows what you're trying to do! And he's slipped out of our world!

OMT!Tails: Oh, man... Did he say anything about what he's planning?

Metal Sonic: He said about wanting EVERYONE to follow their "destinies", lest their universes get destroyed...

OMT!Tails: Of course he'd crank that mindset up to eleven... I'll see what I can do about him! In the meantime, Metallix got a bit delusional, so don't believe anything he says about me being some real Tails.

Metal Sonic: Uh, okay? Well, all's fair between us, I suppose, and since you were pretty friendly, it's a deal!

OMT!Tails: Sweet! I also left you something in a secret spot for if you feel like using it. Just... don't let it slip to anyone else that I gave it to you.

Metal Sonic: A secret spot? Well, I guess I'll look into it... See you around, kid.

The transmission cut off.

Melody: You left something there?

OMT!Tails: A dimension-travelling watch that can link him straight to the Quill Society. He will need cooling off since there's so many Sonics there, though.

Melody: A Quill Society?

OMT!Tails: A huge club full of heroes from different universes, akin to ours!

Melody: Sweet!

OMT!Tails: Well, I'm gonna get you back to your brother and another me, whilst I lose the evil Sonic in one more dimension. I'll rendezvous back with you once I've done that!

OMT!Tails prepared to warp Melody straight there.

Melody: Alright. Good luck, alternate dad!

She was warped away as OMT!Tails continued onwards, unknowingly also being followed by Blitz!Tails who noticed where he was going.

MK: "I just- I don't want to let my friends down, you know? It's like, I want to help out in the store, do arts and crafts with Sandy, and party with M-m-m-Mei! Mei! But it's to hard, I'm just one guy!"

Sandy: "Hurting others isn't a measure of one's strength—took me a really long time to realize that. As long as I'm doing something to help out a friend, I don't mind what it is! I just want to be there for 'em when they need me."

Sun Wukong: "You want me to leave it, and I want me to take it! Eh, it's toughy." Ne Zha: "What!? Don't do this! Sun Wukong: "I'm sorry—it's the only way!"

MK: “Why are you helping her—Lady Bone Demon—like, look, I get that you’re a bad guy, but you know that she wants to destroy everything, right?”

Sandy: "I don't want to fight, but I can't let you hurt my friends!"

(3x04 The Winning Side)

Sun Wukong: "What? You got what you wanted didn't you? Not gonna gloat? Monologue a little before scurrying off to your master? Go on! The Lady Bone Demon is waiting." Macaque: "I couldn't care less about what the Lady Bone Demon wants!"

(3x09 The King, the Prince, and the Shadow)

Mei: "I can't! I don't want to hurt you—any of you! I'm sorry."

Mei: "No! Stay back! I- I don't want to hurt you!"

(3x10 The Samadhi Fire)

The Mayor: "All my lady ever desired was a world no longer plagued by pain—until the Monkey King and his companions got in the way. Fate however has gifted her a second chance!"

(3x13 Time to be Warriors) (Desired, wanted, same thing.)

Lady Bone Demon: "Save your hero speech child—I've existed long enough to know when it's over. MK: "You still think that the universe really wants anything, from any of us?" Lady Bone Demon: "Don't you?"

(3x14 Destiny Fulfilled)

Macaque: "Still the same Wukong, doing whatever he wants with no regard for others!"

(3x14 Destiny Fulfilled)

Sun Wukong: "It's actually amazing how quickly you're mastering your powers—when I was your age-"

MK: "-You were fighting the celestial armies and generally swinging your big ol' tail around to get what you wanted?" Sun Wukong: "Well I was going to say making regrettable life choices but yeah, thanks for laying out. I'm embarrassed to admit it but—you might have actually already done more for this world that I ever have!"

Mei: “What’s the point of having power if you won’t use it? Don’t you have people you want to protect?”

Sandy: “But you were too WEAK to be who you truly are! I am a monster! That’s what the world wants me to be, so that’s what I’m gonna give ‘em!”

Curse MK: "Hey no no no- I get it man. Macaque: "Point is, it’s time to start making your own choices—something I wish I would have learned a lot sooner than I did. You don’t want to fight Azure because people might get hurt, you don’t want to not fight him because people might get hurt–so do something else! Only you get to decide who you are kiddo.”

Sun Wukong: "Ah, don't be like that! Eat some fruit, soak up the sun—that's why I've been training so hard!" Macaque: "What, so you can be the strongest?" Sun Wukong: "Nooo! Well, maybe a little bit—but that's not the point! It's so we don't have to worry about anything or anyone ever again! Just living a lazy life, sitting in the sun, eatin' fruit, and doing whatever we want!"

Sun Wukong: "I just wanted to protect the people I cared about—to be strong enough. I lost sight of why I was doing any of it."

Macaque: "You did it for yourself! You've become this like, obsessive demon! I told you going against the Jade Emperor was a bad idea, but no, Wukong doesn't listen to anyone, he just does whatever he wants!"

MK: "That's what you were pretending to be right? To be my friend? To care about me? When really you were just using me to get what you wanted! To turn me against my own mentor! Put your hand in the monkey cage, and expect to get bit son!"

Sun Wukong: "Azure just stop, okay? You've won—you're going to destroy us just like you wanted! Us an the entire universe." Azure Lion: "Huh? No. This is not what I wanted! I can still fix this, it's- it's the whole reason I'm here at all!" Sun Wukong: "Wait, how are you here!?" Azure Lion: "What? What kind of a question is that you know exactly how I'm-" Sun Wukong: "-No! Here and now! I put you in the underworld myself. How'd you get out, how'd you get the scroll? I know for sure you didn't steal it—you couldn't have! Azure, who gave you that scroll? Because whoever it was they must have known this would happen, wanted this to happen! And they used you to do it."

Azure Lion: "I just wanted to make the world a better place!" MK: "You still can—you're the only one who can."

Disclaimer that these are character perceptions and not like, the reality of their situations. Also I need to re-watch LMK because my memory is a little rusty lol.

Ash & MK, two guys that are supposed to protect their families and keep making shit worse <3

Talia & Red Son, they have the same chaos vibes to me. Plus I think Red Son would love to help Talia screw around with making knives for some reason. Just, vibes?? Either way, they're gonna go burn down a village <3 /hj

Leo & Sandy, tanks with a heart of gold. Come on, you had to see that coming. But, I think it'd be good because I think Sandy would help try to walk Leo through his guilt a bit

Keef & Wukong. You know how much guilt these two have over little mistakes? Avoiding mentioning things until the last second because how do they mention it?? It's just going to be so many negative emotions and then by the time they're forced to confront it, it's too late. Delicious.

Ink & Mei, just because chaos gremlins that adopt their enemies. They will prank everyone. Talia & Red Son specifically.

Kody & Wukong, but for different reasons. Whenever someone gets close they both run like hell and distance themselves again (even if it's too late, and people have gotten attached/they've gotten attached to people already).

On some less "similarity" notes and things I think would just be interesting:

Ash & Pigsy: The adopters. Ash takes the full responsibility for everything his group does and for protecting them in any way possible, Pigsy protects his kids but I could also see him recognizing that he can't protect them from everything. A nice cooking session with a talk over the differences in how they approach their teams running into danger would be interesting, I think.

Talia & Red Son: Okay okay okay, it's the same duo but for less gremlin-y reasons this time. They both had shitty parents, and I see Talia simply not understanding how Red Son is still willing to connect with them. I think she'd be incredibly confused and it could be an interesting discussion in Red Son's approach with his parents vs hers. (That is to say, Red Son's parents making a genuine effort to get better and growing a bond, where Talia's were only interested in getting worse and forced Talia away in such a way they can never recover from.)

Keef & Lady Bone Demon: I'm not sure if you'd count villains under this ask, but okay. So, Keef grew up in an environment where perfection was expected, and she always fell just short. She prefers the chaos of the world and the freedom of creativity, but also understands the appeal of constantly looking put-together and perfect, especially to other people. She still puts pressure on herself to do that, after all, even if she won't admit it. Furthering that, she's one of the few in the Nightshift who doesn't see her life as better after the inciting incident that led to her eventually joining. Maybe the same, but not better. She fully understands the appeal of a perfect world where she wouldn't have had the opportunity to make such a mistake that led her down this road, and feels the pressure to conform to something closer to LBD's version of the world, and I think that would make for a very interesting conversation.

Leo & Wukong: Two very different approaches to the same issue. Leo is worried he can't protect the people he loves, and believes (if unconsciously, to some degree) that he's at fault for his siblings' deaths. He's determined to not let the same fate befall his new family, and so becomes incredibly protective and even overbearing. On the flip side of this, Wukong took to distancing himself so he wouldn't hurt people any more than he has (and before they can leave him first). I think the drastic differences in approaches would be really interesting to pick out, especially since I think Wukong would see a degree of himself in Leo - the determination to protect the people he loves no matter what, but before Wukong lost vision of his previous goal for more power. Maybe he'd try to serve as a kind of warning tale to Leo, before Leo has the chance to make the same mistakes.

Ink & MK: Ink and MK would be really interesting to me to flip sides of a kinda screwed up coin. Someone who trusts and connects with everyone blindly (MK) and someone who picks and chooses who to trust carefully, because everyone's out to get you if push comes to shove hard to enough (Ink). They both love their family deeply, but Ink is more subtle about it so it won't be used/taken advantage of while MK is proudly loving of everyone he cares about. MK is crushed with guilt in how he thinks he hurts the people around him and, to some degree, fails to help people, while Ink genuinely has done irreparable damage to others and failed to save lives it was put in charge of, and learned to live with that reality. I think it'd be interesting because I think Ink would see MK, how MK keeps getting tricked and taken advantage of, how MK thinks he hurts the people he loves and fails to save those he tries to help, and the only way Ink would know how to help is through its own worldview: trust nobody, make connections but stay on your toes, yes you've hurt people and yes you've failed but the reality of life is you can't avoid that to some degree and here's some ways I learned to live with myself. Maybe they'll help you too. I think it would be interesting because Ink also doesn't see another side to this: that MK has never tried to actively hurt someone, that everything he blames himself for isn't necessarily his fault, and that MK's ability to see the good in people has genuinely helped them - not just in the sense of having connections, but believing in others (Macaque) in a way that Ink's more pessimistic worldview does not allow.

Kody & Macaque: I think this would be fun for their similarities leading to severe whiplash between them. Kody's been betrayed, used, tricked and manipulated more times than he can count, and they both follow a very similar "Look out for number one. Because if you don't, no one will." mentality, and while Macaque's "Wukong only values people by how useful they are to him" mentality might be more individual-specific, it's still something Kody can easily apply to everyone that's taken him in then discarded him once his use was up. They handle their respective betrayals extremely differently, with Kody content to just avoid the hell out of anyone that hurt them and Macaque hunting down Wukong and even using his student for revenge (which, would definitely piss Kody off, by the way), but at their roots they can see a lot of themselves in each other, down to Kody's more tricky nature even if he doesn't see it. I definitely don't think a conversation with them would go well, per say, because Kody would not hesitate to question why the hell Macaque went back to fighting for/with Wukong when he could easily be using him again (Kody pushes the world away so they don't get hurt again, and Macaque is willing to run right back to Wukong's side when he's called?), and would get extremely pissed off that Macaque took advantage of MK that way (in a very similar way they were in the past), but I think the similarities in root that bleed out into extremely different responses would be kind of interesting. I rewrote this last one like three times though, I'm not sure, it's harder to draw a connection with Kody than it is the others.

10. What do you love about your muse?

There is a really good ask from you in my inbox right now that sums up prefectly what I love about him... I love that he's a very multifaceted character given the canon he's from. I love that he straight up lies about himself and it's not always clear what the truth really is. I love that he definitely has some version of compassion fatigue where he no longer cares for mortals like he once did because they die so fast and it's so hard to deal with every time but he still can't help himself from getting close to those select few that stick around. I love that he cares so much for others but forgot how to care for himself. I love how he gets up no matter what is thrown at him even if it's clear that he's so, so tired of having to do it again and again.

It's very late don't ask me these kinds of questions when I'm sleepy or I will go on forever.

13. What about your muse makes you sad?

His past sucked so bad man and he still refuses to process the most of it. He's also been intensely lonely and isolated for 500+ years which is messed up that he did that to himself! I mean I guess not leaving your house by choice is better than being stuck under a mountain but it also smells very much like depression to me. Which is also one of the saddest parts of his character and a big part of why I picked him: he already outlived his closest friends, friends who could have stayed with him but for one reason or another didn't. And that clearly affected him and how he interacts with the world a lot and it's so, so sad and now he will have to deal with it again someday with MK's friend group.

Also his tendency to throw himself in front of every danger because he's the least likely to die (allegedly) is very sad to think about when you put as much thought as I had into it (a lot).

19. If you had to judge your muse and sentence them to a “fair” fate, what would your judgement be? Would you punish them? Reward them? How?

That's an interesting question for him specifically. I think he's been punished enough at this point I think, but I can't say I'm the right person to decide if he should be rewarded? I'd just sentence him to the life of living well with his friends with no world ending plots for at least the next century.

The thing is... Ace was also fighting for a reward. So he's not a hero either.

Anon the simple question at the center of Geats is CHOICE. I chose those scenes on purpose. Ace did not have to play his hand that round. But even amnesiac he managed to fight off Jyamato. And then he took back Geats and helped save the world. Knowing it would probably end exactly as it did - Giroli trying to kill him. Ace has no reason to test and encourage the other players but we see him do it OVER and OVER, supporting and advising those that have something worth fighting for.

And you know what? Yeah! He did fight selfishly to reunite with his mother, but you know what happened when he could not reach her? He went back. He re-assessed in moments, and destructive rage became the power to CREATE. He CHOSE to break the damn system, he accepted his mother’s fate with grace, when it came from her own mouth.

It’s why Mk IX is the way it is. Because he is no longer a player searching for something personal, he is a god and a hero trying to make things better and WILLING TO DEAL WITH ANY COST OR FAILURE.

Ace is deeply imperfect, he is utterly selfish. And he is still more of a hero than Keiwa, for now

Oneshot

Pairing: Mk and SWK platonic.

Summary: MK has been overworking himself to the extreme and doesn’t know how to take a break with the fate of the world on his shoulders. Wukong takes some notice and they talk about the pressure.

Warnings: A bit angsty, maybe ooc for MK but like, angst— he’d be super scared to fail. It’s kinda rough for my first one but It’s just something to tide me over until I start getting requests.

Words: About 1.5k!

MK bit down the urge to scream as his back collided with the ground, effectively knocking the wind out of his lungs and sending him spiralling backwards. After tumbling against the ground for a brief moment before he slid to a stop on his stomach, he pondered why he was doing this again. Worn fingers grappled at the earth by his head, trying to shake off his miserable defeat and get up, but the coarse texture of the mountainside only served to give him no leeway, but instead a few scrapes and the fleeting feeling that even the mountain was laughing at him.

Again, he tried to get up, muscles tense and aching after the extensive and lengthy training that seemed more like the great sage just wanted to vent his anger on his poor, blissfully unaware student. He was innocent here, so why was the training so rough for no reason? MK cast aside the thought with a slight shake of his head, gently propping himself up on his elbows as he glanced at where he’d made impact with the ground earlier, grimacing at the sight of his own imprint having disturbed the rocky surface. Did Wukong really have to exert that much force against him? It was obvious who the winner would be, even if it was just a training session— one MK struggled to even organise with the great sage’s busy schedule. His arms shook at the effort it took to hold himself up, gritting his teeth at the nausea that grew only more prominent, from what was only a gentle reminder that he needed rest to a great force trying to get his mortal body the kind of care that it needs to function. For a moment, the world spun in front of his eyes, distorting like a carnival mirror. The sudden vertigo wasn’t appreciated however as MK had to shut his eyes and regain his breath, lungs convulsing. With every passing moment his mouth felt dry, and no matter how he tried to salivate the sensation he was going to throw up if he received just one more punch to the gut was still lingering, sitting low in his stomach, lying in wait for the perfect opportunity. He wasn’t sure he could vomit at this point, he doesn’t remember the last time he ate, so it would likely be a combination of saliva and stomach acids if he were to but it isn’t something that’s the most pleasant to imagine so he left it alone.

“Come on kid! Where’d all that vigour from this morning go?” The monkey king's encouragement soured as he thought of it like negative feedback, clenching his teeth together from his spot on the floor until his molars ground together. Usually, MK was super enthusiastic about these training sessions, always one to be super positive no matter how hurt he got and take it as another experience and another lesson on how to better improve. But this MK was tired, sleep-deprived even, having fully overworked himself to the extent of this shell of his former personality who was only trying to get the things on his to-do list done so he could rest for once. This MK also had the fate of the world resting on his shoulders and it's not the most stress-relieving activity to try and be good enough to stop the end.

He’d realised that he hadn’t moved at all, gathering his strength to try and sit up from the ground, despite the protest of his muscles as they objected against the action. After struggling to reposition himself sitting upright, it seemed his mentor had finally noticed something was off with his successor, sauntering over to the heaving MK.

“You alright ‘bud? You seem pretty out of it.” He’d stoop down to survey his apprentice, the slightest hint of concern lacing his voice, he did worry for the kid, but his ego could make it difficult to show.

“You kicked me in the face, I’m doing so good.” MK deadpanned, lifting his gaze to meet Wukongs humourly, mouth twitching at the idea his facade wasn’t being the most convincing right now. But he shrugged it off, hoping that the simian would just write off his behaviour just this once. Wukong however was not as amused by him avoiding his gaze, lifting an eyebrow in necessary suspicion.

“Yeah okay, we’ll end it here. You’re pretty roughed up today.” He’d comment, eyeing MK’s clothes. To be fair it did look like he’d been dragged against a dirt road, plus he just appeared flat out exhausted. It was only out of consideration that Sun Wukong let him off, scrutinising the importance and necessity of MK improving though he couldn’t always do something like this, it genuinely seemed like the kid needed a break. At the mention of the session being over, said successor seemed to just deflate exponentially, falling back onto his back with a sigh and a half hearted, ‘thank the heavens above’, which Wukong definitely scoffed at.

The monkey brought his hands together, lightly pushing his tail against the other's forehead. “Now would you be so kind as to explain what’s up with you? Your movements were sloppy if not effortless and— woah, that’s a sharp look. Hit a nerve? Come on, MK, you know I only want to teach you.” He raised his hands defensively at the glare he received, now quite curious as to what was bothering the boy to this extent in order to cause such uncharacteristic hostility.

MK brought a hand to comb through his hair, “Sorry, sorry. I’m just stressed, I think. Though it’s pretty normal for me now as the Monkie Kid, I just,” He paused to consider his words, unsure of how to phrase it. It was difficult to interpret his thoughts when he was just so wound up and didn’t really know what to do. He sent a look back over to Wukong who only reassuringly motioned with his hands to continue. “It’s a lot sometimes, it isn’t always easy to handle. Sorry I gave you an attitude about it, I’ve missed out on a bit of sleep but I didn’t want to worry anyone.” MK admitted guiltily, raising his hand to scratch at the back of his neck. Even if he hadn’t mentioned it they were all likely to notice eventually, he just hadn’t been willing to entertain that idea. The monkey king sighed gently, placing a comforting hand on his shoulders.

“Look, kid. I’m not the greatest at this whole reassuring thing. Never really been my whole shtick, solo flyer troublemaker on the rise.” He clears his throat at the irrelevant piece he’d added. “But you’re a good kid, and you’re doing great, much better than I could’ve hoped for. It’s good to have worries but just, don’t let it get to your head. It’ll get all mangled up in your little MK head and stuff like this’ll happen. You’ve got us don’t you? Me and your little gang of misfits. They’ve got your back, so show your appreciation by not balling it all up and put your MK smile back on! We missed ‘ya buddy!”

MK gave the monkey king an appreciative gaze, behind all the fronts he put up the guy really did seem to care, he just went about it in his own way. “Thanks, Wukong. I really needed that.” He smiled gently. Wukong just waved it off, grinning smugly as he achieved reinforcing MK’s fortitude. Despite the reassurance however, the deep pit in MK’s stomach refused to leave, feeling as though it was congesting his intestines, it was either that or he was just really, really hungry.

“Here’s a suggestion— why don’t we go grab something from Pigsy? Kicking your ass really took it out of me, I’m starving.”

“Sounds good! Then I’m passing out, into another dimension I’m so tired.” MK joined Wukong in his laughter, feeling a bit better about the whole thing. And besides, it’s nice knowing he really does care, even if it isn’t always apparent.

{sixth part}

(The next day, the Demon Bull King continues to absorb more items, as Red Son lands on one of the buildings with the Twin Fire Jet Pack.)

Red Son: Yes. With every item absorbed, my family comes one step closer to total domination! Once we get the Monkey King's staff, we will be unstoppable!

(MK and his team are now riding in Pigsy's Food Truck and Lara is kind of sleeping on her brother's lap even though she's tight)

MK: Very tight!

Tang: Pigsy, watch where you're going! You're gonna kill us!

MK: Yeah we gotta get to Flower Fruit Mountain without getting smushed in a car crash. All we need to do is drive through an entire ocean. Simple.

Mei: Guys! Demon Bull King has moved onto downtown. He's destroying the cheese tea stalls!

MK: All the more reason to get this staff back to Monkey King. Flower Fruit Mountain. It's the only place he could be. Right, Mr. Tang?

Tang: Indeed. However, Flower Fruit Mountain is hidden away, deep in dangerous and unknown territory. So I guess we better turn back!

MK and Mei: What?!

Pigsy: Shut it, you big baby. I know a guy that can take us there. The most dangerous, deadly, raged-filled warrior I've ever known.

MK, Mei, and Tang: Ahh!

Pigsy: (He stops the food truck at the harbor.) Sandy.

(Inside Sandy's boat, MK's team quiver in fear as they see Sandy with a butcher knife,Lara is on her brother's lap, hugging him in fear.)

Sandy: That's a lot to take in. You know what I do to people who disrupt the peace? Serve them tea! (he shows a tea set) You guys want some? You? How about that guy over there? Huh? Huh?

(Lara stops being scared and gets a little confused but continues to hug MK)

Tang: (he raises his hand) Oh, yes! Don't mind if I do. Certain noodle shop owners could learn a lot from your hospitality, Sandy.

Mei: Oh, you're right piggy, this guy is dangerous. He'll kill us with cuteness! (She puts one of Sandy's therapy cats on top of Pigsy's head.)

Sandy: It's my own blend of anti-stress fruits. It really brings the heart rate down.

Pigsy: Sandy! What happened to you? Where's the angry, glass-chewing, fist-throwing buddy I used to know?

Sandy: Oh well, my therapist said I really needed to calm down. That's why I started drinking tea. Doing yoga. Investing in therapy cats. Really helps. Oh, don't you, Mo?

Mei: Oh Mr. Sandy sir.(she gets on her knees) We could really use your help. We've gotta get to Flower Fruit Mountain!

MK: (Put his sister on the sofa in the boat and he also gets on his knees) Please, the fate of the world is at state.

Sandy: Ok!

MK: Really?

Sandy: Anything for Pigsy. I can get you there, but it ain't a pleasant trip.

MK and Mei: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

Lara⚪:(Playing with Sandy therapy cats)

Sandy: Alright, let's get moving. But I'm telling you, old friend. If things get hairy, I've changed. I don't go around picking fights no more. (Pigsy sighs) Mo, initiate the launch sequence! (Mo jumps off Sandy's shoulder)

Mei: Launch sequence?

(Mo presses a button which starts up Sandy's boat.)

Sandy: Onwards to Flower Fruit Mountain!

(The boat goes off into the distance)

MK: Whooo! Yeah!

(It shows a pair of binoculars looking at the ship. Then the binoculars are put down, revealing General Ironclad. He walks over to Red Son, who is standing on the ledge of a building. He bows to him.)

Red Son: What?! You let them get away?!

Princess Iron Fan: Aww, so your plan didn't go according to plan, huh? (she comes in on a wind tornado) Oh, don't worry, my sweet, useless boy. (she grabs Red Son's cheek) Mother will get the staff. I'm not about to let anyone stop us. Not this time. (she than disappears in a wind tornado)
