As much as I have opinions on how Miraculous goes about its writing, damn are the ideas it brings up so juicy
Like I feel like there’s something to be sad about how everyone deals with their problems or their trauma. Like, so many of the characters have issues, and it’s so fascinating to think about the way they respond to them
Marinette has the entire safety of Paris on her shoulders and basically in a constant state of trying to fix things even when it shouldn’t be her problem in the first place
Adrien was raised to be as obedient as possible and doesn’t know jack about how to be a kid, literally has no ambitions at the moment, he’s constantly apologizing for things that feasibly wouldn’t be his fault and trying to fit whatever mold he thinks someone wants of him
Chloe’s mom left her and is verbally abusive and calling her daughter a failure for the entirety of Paris to see, so she lashes out at everyone around her and constantly uses her dad’s power. Also the fact that two fully grown adults manipulate her before she’s sent away, just awful
Nino’s best friend has the worst dad imaginable and he felt powerless about the situation wanting to help Adrien (seriously I hope they bring up Guilttrip sometime in the future it reveals a lot of really concerning things about the characters), so he tries to be the best bro to him and give him every experience he can
No idea what happened to Lila as her backstory is uhhhhhh, but that lying, the disguises (she literally came to school in one), and the fake identities had to have come from somewhere. I remember, before the whole 3-moms-thing, theories about her lying for attention because her mom is never home and she’s genuinely lonely, using a scene where she’s talking with Nino and looks actually upset as evidence, so that’s something to consider
Luka’s dad left, and he basically became everyone’s therapist, which he really really really shouldn’t be. We’re told he’s this chill, go with the flow dude, but when your response when hearing your current girlfriend (or at least the in between friend and gf) still likes someone else and saying “I already know that”, that’s just concerning. Dude’s everyone’s therapist, but is anyone checking on him?
Juleka has anxiety and still has unresolved issues with her dad leaving and coming back and (my memory is fuzzy here) not really interacting with her? She’s quiet and keeps a lot of emotions just bottled up cause she doesn’t express them verbally
This is stuff off the top of my head, but damn. As much flack I like to give to this show, thinking about stuff like this is what keeps that little part of me who loved the show years ago alive. Like, I genuinely don’t care what some of the characters have done, I think all of them need a hug and as much therapy as possible

My thoughts on the characters throughout the seasons on my first watch:
S1
Luther: very very annoying, ew incest, kinda wanted him to die only so the incest plot couldn't happen
Diego: Oh he's cool I like him, and him canonically being semi-verbal? Absolutely love that, me too
Allison: she's sweet, kinda annoying, not the best person but I can see she's trying so I'm going to try to like her, didn't like how she went about the Leonard situation, very worried when she almost died
Klaus: oh I love you, favorite character, best character, you kind of remind me of my friends
Five: you are so interesting I am staring at the screen intrigued, very cool power, but also the mannequin??
Ben: side character, I like his interactions with Klaus
Viktor: you are.. Interesting, however there is too much you and not enough Klaus
S2
Luther: annoyance from last season persevered and I don't trust his interactions with Allison but the scene with the two Fives was really fun
Diego: why the jfk obsession why, also he is a complete dumbass lmao (/endearing)
Allison: I forgive her for the previous season she is top 4, very sweet, I love her and Ray
Klaus: you have been demoted to second favorite but I still love you I swear
Five: you are actively winning me over I have become so attatched you are such a bitter old man who loves his family so much I absolutely adore you
Ben: he is also winning me over, was very near getting really attatched to him at the end of the season and then he fucking died
Viktor: Liking him more now too, he's very sweet, I love him with Sissy and Harlan, the amnesia thing was pretty good, was very nice this season
Lila: not sure how I feel, conflicted, kinda don't like
S3
Luther: fine you win I don't hate you anymore now go dance with your wife, also his reaction to Viktor coming out was so sweet I died, wasn't rlly worried about his death but damn all he wanted was a hug poor guy
Diego: "Do you feel loved? Good, you are" bangs fists on table, crying, screaming, also the whole thing with Stan was very sweet but Diego isn't rlly a good dad, not horrible, but as someone heavily interested in psych and parenting techniques; yikes my guy, you could do better
Allison: Oh her relationship with Viktor is so nice I hope nothing bad happens between them stares at the camera like in the office , also FUCK YOU, the SA was way way too far, completely irredeemable
Klaus: FIVE KLAUS ROADTRIP FIVE KLAUS ROADTRIP, also immortality thank fuck if you died I would have never recovered, all his interactions with Reginald all he wanted was for a good father :(, people need to start listening to him and taking him seriously asap I'm gonna lose it he deserves the world
Five: I would kill for you and your stupid old man outfits, also him being blamed for the apocalypse made my blood boil Five has been trying so hard to keep his family alive and he loves them all so much only to be treated like shit
Ben: I miss Umbrella Ben bring him back why is he such an asshole
Viktor: trans guy swag, all of the coming out scenes warmed my heart, liking his character more, him losing Harlan and Allison treating him like shit :(
Lila: She won me over she is so fun however what she did to Diego with Stan was shit

How does the chain see/react to the blind child cry headcanon
Tumblr media
From their first encounter with the blind child as strangers, then to familiarity
Time
First encounter: At first, he didn't hear them crying silently since the child is very silent
But once he noticed, time immediately gentle to comfort and calm them down, he's immediately turned into Papa bear
He'll speak in a gentle/quiet voice to the child. *"It's okay to cry chestnut. Take your time."*
Eventually, the child will be asleep after their quiet crying in time's arms, but he won't put them back in their bedroll. No, he's going to stay by their side til he knows their okay.
Familiarity time
He 1000% papa to the blind child
He knows the signs when his baby is going to break down to cry and be there before it happen
He managed to get his baby to be a bit louder instead of being quiet and is glad since he doesn't have to be on high alarm because their slient worries him
He'll gently hug his baby when their going/are crying. He knows they have a rough beginning of their life, and he isn't going to let them be alone anymore
[If time, hear the reason why his baby is crying because of some kids picking on them. He's going in as his kid self to kick their butts or hell let wind, four handle the brat kids. His baby needs him]
Twilight
First encounter twilight: immediately comfort the child and wrap his wolf pelt around the child and tell them stories from his village to help distract them
He can hear their quiet crying even if it's in the next room. He'll immediately check on them even if it's the dead of night
Twilight as wolfie. He'll snuggle the child a lot and be their personal comfort animal and won't leave them alone. Even if one of the chain members try to remove wolfie, wolfie won't move a damn inch
Familiarity twilight
Big brother rancher
He's going to treat blind as his little silbing even if their not related by blood
He'll bring blind to the goats in the village and even let them pet one under his surveillance. He doesn't care. Lila yelled at him later about it.
He's going to hug them in his sleep or let them crawl into bed a sign for him that they need a quiet place to cry, then so be it. He doesn't mind one bit. They're his precious little silbing, and he'll comfort them no matter what.
[Twilight hears or learns that his little silbingis is being bullied, and that's why their crying.....hes going to scared/scar that bully for life or rat the bully out to their parents and watch the parents of the brat scolding them hard even embarrassed them for their actions]
Warrior
First encounter warrior:
Warrior on the outside tries to comfort and reassure them but the inside he's panicking. He doesn't have much experience with children minus kid time and wind but those two are used to battle a blind innocent not battle child
He'll easily give them his beloved scarf as a distraction and it work
If he up late at night thinking on strategy for the battle but he's with the blind child the same time (he's stressed out but won't show it even if their blind)
Start to allow them to touch his face or hair after they stop crying since he knows they need a distraction
Familiarity warrior:
He a big brother to them /role model
He make sure to bring his stuff with him if he hear the child sniffs and knows to go to them while he works
He tell them stories of his journey through out hyrule during the war minus the gore and blood parts, he knows time will kill him if blind have nightmares about it
He'll let them touch feel his face and hair more if they need a way to forget something like them crying. Will likely teach them how to flirt
[Warrior hears about blind crying about some kids, hes going to mentally scar those kids and lie about his involvement]
Wild
First encounter wild:
Wild try give them food even sweets he made and it sometimes works, sometimes he simply wait for them to wear themselves out then feed them soft foods
He'll be by their side til their deep sleep and knows their safe
He will keep a eye on them even if their with one of the chain members
Familiarity:
Wild act like a mother to them at random moments (minus the fact sky is full on mother to the child at all times)
Wild will sit with them and will spoon feed the child food and ask them on how it tastes after they ate all the food
Wild will be the one tending the child hair yet he and sky slient argue about what hair style of the day
Wild will sing along with the child while the chain try to ignore wild bad singing
[Wild is going to use his shikiah stale for petty reasons and reasons alone on those kids and take the scolding from time, twilight]
Hyrule
First encounter hyrule:
Hyrule sweating bullets and is very nervous but he try to calm them dowm
He'll let his magic flow out and he'll try talking to them
Hyrule let the child hold his hands and let them feel his magic
Familiarity:
Big brother and their teacher to help them control their magic
He rub their back while they quietly cry and he'll let his magic flow out so they can relax and feel better
He take them for walks even when both got lost
(Dont let hyrule hear about the kids bullying blind, he's going to use magic to ruin those kids lives)
Legend
First encounter legend:
Legend make sure no one around to see the child crying and he stay with them
He tell them of his journey and child friendly explain why he wear a skirt?
In his bunny form, he snuggle the sniffing blind child and let them pet the bunny(himself)
Familiarity:
Big brother
He put his hat on the child head so no one can see them crying and he stay with them til their done
Legend in his bunny body will nuzzle blind to beginning to the end
(Legend hear about blind bullies, he may left a charm in that bullies houses to curse them with bad luck)
Four
First encounter foure:
Four will softly speak to the crying blind while let them feel his rail
He'll wait for them to be done then he hand them a minish feather explain about the feather to them
Spilt version. The colors will try their best to relax the crying child with hugs or headpats
Familiarity:
Big brother
He'll talk to the child about the minish and what they look like and colors for each one this make the child stop crying and listen to four
Four hand the child items he craved by metal and explain to them on how he made it
(Four hear about the bullying had to spilt since blue and vio want to teach those kids a lesson and red, green are comforting blind)
Wind
First encounter wind:
Wind immediately goes to comfort the crying blind child since he knows what to do since he grows up with his sister
He's the first one to Distract them with a random item or say he found something cool and want them to feel it
If Wind can't figure out how to help them, he'll just hug them til they're done crying
Familiarity:
Big brother now and forever
Will bring blind live fish for them to feel, or he'll bring them to the shore for them to calm down after their crying
Wind will hug the child before and after they cry and ask them to pull pranks on the chain
(Wind hears about his blind silbingbeing bullied. he's going over there and beat the kids up himself even if twi or war yell at him later for that. He doesn't care. He's protect his blind silbing)
Sky
First encounter sky:
Sky panicking but trying to calm them down (even though he's panicking himself)
He's rubbing the child back and sit with them since he's worry and motherhenning badly
He even does bird noise and chips too (quietly, he doesn't want the chain to tease him)
Sky let/guild the child hands on his harp while he gently talk to them
Familiarity:
A mother bloody hen full levels
Sky take over nap time with them after they cry themselves out
Sky give them a woodcarving of crimson and is glad to see them try feel the woodcarving to clam themselves
Sky play his harp to the child before they can start to feel sad
(Sky finds out about the other children bullying blind. he's going to scold those children himself. Those children feel very embarrassed becausesome strange teen is scolding them)

Okay I can see why people are bummed about certain parts of the Season 5 finale, but it was genuinely??? So good??? Like it was not bad at all, it's wild to me that people are calling the whole thing terrible because of like. Two plot points.
Spoilers and thoughts under the cut (in no particular order):
I fucking loved the Bug Noire design, her eyes were so COOL LOOKING
The classmates all getting their kwamis back STOP 😭😭😭😭 Wayzz and Trixx get to hang out all the time now that's so cute I'm gonna die.
I need an entire episode about what the fuck Jagged Stone, Penny, and Luka were up to because WHAT WAS THAT?
Loved getting to see the other heroes again, it was a nice change of pace
GOD TIKKI AND PLAGG??? WHAT?? The lighting in that scene was so pretty 10/10
I'm glad Gabriel fucking died he deserved it 🖕
Following that, I truly think that if Gabriel's plea had come even one season ago, I would have felt more sympathy for him. I felt none. I was rolling my eyes while he was crying. You locked your son in a literal prison Gabe. You are beyond redemption.
Really liked the parallel of this episode with Ladybug fighting w/o Chat while the classmates help out and the episode Representation, where Chat was fighting w/o Ladybug and the classmates were helping out. Not QUITE the same, but I'm glad we did get a fairly Chat-centric episode before the finale
Adrien absolutely deserves to know that his father was Hawkmoth. But he's also had like. The SHITTIEST fucking life the last year or two. His mom fucking died, his dad stopped being a dad, he was overworked, never allowed to see friends, was a whole ass superhero on top of that, and then his father sent him to a different fucking country so he couldn't be with his girlfriend. And then said father DIES and suddenly his mom is magically alive and Nathalie isn't on deaths door??? Yeah, I'd give him some time to process and just be a kid for once too. He is definitely going to find out, and when it does it'll be angsty and I will enjoy it
I really hope they don't drag out the Lila plot five more seasons. This show has fallen victim to the "too many seasons" problem and at this point I'm mostly in it for the kwamis and the classmates relationships lol
God poor Nooroo can't catch a break 😭
While I was low-key hoping for a reveal, it would have felt really forced and out of place given that Chat Noir literally didn't show up until the very end of the season finale, so I'm glad they didn't shoehorn it in
Alya. Round of a fucking plause for Alya please and thank you. Also please I need more of her and Plagg they were adorable the way he went to her for help when he couldn't find Marinette
Actually round of applause for all the classmates trying their damnedest to keep the city from falling to chaos I love them all so much together
Love that these kids have just fully accepted that their principal is a little wacky and they continue to include him
BABY BUSTIER I WOULD DIE FOR YOU
Marinette was so fucking snappy and good with the comebacks during her fight with Gabriel it was fantastic
Also the way she reacted to seeing him as Gabriel was INSANE the animators did such a good job with that
Back to Alya for a hot sec, the way she looked at Nino during the classmates group hug was so soft 😭❤️
Adrien understanding that he was at high risk of hurting the world as Chat Noir and being under the influence of nightmares is such a mature move. Alya realizing the same thing? God give them more SCENES together
Once again. TIKKI AND PLAGG???? TF???
In conclusion:
The finale wasn't bad, you guys are just upset there wasn't a reveal and that Adrien still doesn't know his dad was a literal terrorist. Which is valid, you can be upset about it, but the rest of the finale was pretty damn satisfying and it's a disservice to the crew who worked on it to just dismiss it entirely.

lila, pt. 1.
dialogue prompts from lila by marilynne robinson.
i don't know what i think i'm doing.
no work for you here. nothing to spare.
where'd you get that child?
you can rot in hell.
when's the last time you got to decide about something?
don't you go dying on me.
you're gonna die if you have to, i know.
just do what you're told and be quiet about it.
whatever it is, just wait for it to be over. everything ends sometime.
wondering is not really the same thing as questioning.
this is not at all how i thought this day would end.
i want to take care of you, even if that means seeing you to the train someday.
you are the only person in this world i want to have sitting here beside me.
the loneliness is bad, but it's better than anything else i can think of.
i don't much like to talk.
i've been wondering why things happen the way they do.
there's been a great deal of sorrow in this old place.
you're flirting with the worst kind of trouble.
if you ever want to talk again, i might do better.
i guess you must've been born that way, if anybody ever was.
being beholden is the one thing i cannot stand.
i'll tolerate what i can, and not one bit more.
you remember more than you let on.
how could you let me think you had left?
the thought of you is about the best thing i have.
when folks are down to the last thing keeping them alive, sometimes that's meanness.
i could teach you a new kind of sadness.
there's more shame in life than i can bear.
we could sit here on the porch for a little while.
sometimes it just feels good to hug. don't much matter who.
i just can't trust you at all.
i'm always happy to find you creeping around my house.
the more you have, the more you want.
people like us don't talk to outsiders.
a letter makes ordinary things seem important.
i just don't go around trusting people. don't see the need.
i wouldn't mind seeing you, one last time.
i was getting along with the damn loneliness well enough.
i'd be grateful for anything i could give you. maybe comfort or peace or safety.
i want this so damn bad, and i hate to want anything.
everybody needs a knife.
don't want what you don't need, what you can't have.
i don't know what else to want, except for the shame to be gone.
praying looks just like grief, like shame. like regret.
i had to leave for a time, but i'm back now. i've been resurrected.
i hope you'll tell me what's on your mind.
i'm more afraid of lying than i am anything else.
you sure do look like you mean every word you say.
nothing's gonna kill you ever again.
i must seem like a fool to you.
i'm going to keep you safe, and you're going to keep me honest.
i'm almost afraid to pray.
i've never been at home in all my life. i wouldn't know how to begin.
don't say nothing, if you've got nothing useful to say.

Girlfriend: Hmmm I think you are, so now you're gonna show us where Demon Lila Sky is keeping Sick Boyfriend.
Drugfriend: Woah, That was Sick!
Sick GF: Yeah, that was awesome
Penelope: Specially the part when you roasted her
Girlfriend: Heh heh, well I'm always best at every type of fighting
Immortal Cherry Rose: *grunts* (tries to get up) You...you think you've won huh?
SMG3: Oh man, She doesn't give up does she?
Drugfriend: Yeah, What do you expect? She's immortal
Girlfriend: *sighs* Girl, get over it. You lost, just tell us where Demon Lila Sky's location is. Evil people like you and her deserve to be dead, so just tell us.
Immortal Cherry Rose: ....Heh....heh...heh heh....HehehehehehehAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA!
Shirozu: *whimpering*
Girlfriend: What? What's so funny?
Immortal Cherry Rose: heh heh, gonna have to disagree with you there, Evil is not DEAD but is ending this battle, we will fight again very soon *teleports away*
SMG4: She's gone!
Drugfriend: yeah for now....*sees Shirozu shaking* (sighs, picks them up and hugs them) Don't worry, little buddy. I won't let anything try to get you, and we're gonna save Mama okay?
Shirozu: Okay, I feel safe now
Drugfriend: heh heh, that's good
Penelope: Guys, look *picks up a map* Cherry dropped a map
Sick GF: Where does it lead to?
Penelope: the castle....
Everybody: Oh......
Drugfriend: then we better hurry, who knows what Lila Sky might do to him!
Everybody: Right!

Dreams of You - 26
He should've listened to Nino and his instincts and left this damned apartment as soon as everyone had been gathered.
He should've never brought Marinette here in the first place!
He was a fool for thinking he could break free of the butterfly's influence. Being bound by his father for most of his life, Adrien should've known better than anyone how impossible that was.
His feeble attempts to resist weren't strong enough. He wasn't strong enough. Yes, he stalled and delayed and fought back, but he still obeyed, still took those steps, still called for the Cataclysm and almost killed everyone he ever cared for.
He almost killed Marinette, the woman he wouldn't hesitate to give up his own life for.
Adrien's hands shook, the terror in her eyes as he was lowering his Cataclysm to her face still fresh in his memory. If she hadn't escaped… If she hadn't awakened Tikki and transformed…
Adrien swallowed.
He was supposed to protect her.
He—
"Adrien?"
Marinette's touch was gentle, her smile—soft. Her gaze hadn't lost its warmth, filled with worry and love he didn't deserve.
"I'll come by tomorrow morning as soon as I wake up, okay?"
She shouldn't. He wasn't worthy of her presence. Adrien still nodded. Like a lovesick schoolboy, he needed her now more than ever. Needed to hold her in his arms, needed to know she was safe and sound, needed to hope that if he did his best, if he'd be good enough, she would forgive him one day.
She even kissed his cheek and gave him one of the most earnest hugs she'd ever given him as she left with her parents for the night.
Adrien could hardly breathe. How could he claim to love this woman, if he had just almost killed her with his own two hands?
Despicable!
Pathetic.
Weak...
They were all still alive only because Marinette had awakened Tikki and got full access to her powers. He was only—
"Adrien?"
He looked away. He didn't need Nino's pity. He didn't deserve his sympathy. He should've been smarter than to submit to Lila.
"Adrien, stop. You—"
"I want to be left alone," Adrien murmured and headed for his bedroom. "See you tomorrow, Nino."
Whatever else Nino said fell on deaf ears as Adrien closed the door behind himself. Leaning on a wall, he swallowed the knot in his throat.
His fault.
This whole fiasco was his fault.
His legs gave in. Adrien slid down to the floor, curling in on himself.
He failed her.
He failed all of them.
He was a failure with an oversized ego and poor choices.
Wrapping his hands around his head, Adrien let go. Tears streamed down his face; sounds of despair escaped his lips.
He was a weakling. He couldn't protect the one he loved. With his own hands, hands that should've kept her safe, he almost killed Marinette today…
Someone lightly knocked on the door.
"Leave me alone," Adrien groaned.
"I will," Nino's quiet voice sounded from behind the door. "But before I go, I just wanted to tell you that you did well today. I know it doesn't seem this way, but you did exceptionally. Without you, we wouldn't have won."
Adrien bit on his tongue, hiding his face in his hands. Nino was a good friend. Even if a bit too loyal to see the truth.
Slowly, the apartment grew quiet. The people that Nino had called to clean up must have finished with their work. The Dupain-Chengs and Alya were long gone. Nino must have retired for the night as well. Illuminated by the dim lights of the streets below, the clock on the wall showed midnight.
His body was numb, eyes swollen, head splitting in two. Perhaps, he should get into bed and rest for a bit. That required him to move, though. Adrien wasn't sure he could. Instead, he brought his knees closer to his chest, laying his head on top. That would do. That was what he deserved.
The door to his room creaked open, and someone quietly slipped in.
"Nino, I asked to be left alone," Adrien barely whispered. He had no strength left for more.
The person kneeled before him, wrapping two delicate arms around his body.
Adrien froze, his heart skipping a beat before sprinting in a feverish race. He could never mistake this touch for someone else's.
"Marinette?"
A corner of her lips curled with a smile. Her eyes sparkled like stars in the darkness of his room as she pulled him close to her chest, holding him tightly against her heart.
Everything became right.
He didn't care how badly he'd messed up anymore or how undeserving of her love he had become.
She was here.
She was with him, and he needed nothing more than to be in her arms, to keep her close, to love and protect her to the best of his abilities… even if they weren't as great as he'd always assumed them to be. He'd have to work harder. He'd have to—
Leaning her forehead against his, Marinette closed her eyes, whispering, "I was so scared I lost you."
Adrien shook his head, clinging to her for dear life. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't strong enough. I was supposed to protect you. I was supposed to protect your family and your friends. But I didn't! I allowed her to use me against you and… Marinette, I almost killed you. I almost killed you all."
She pulled away and took his face in her hands, cupping his cheeks in her palms. There was a fire in her eyes. Never before had she looked so fierce. "You did protect us, Adrien. If it weren't for you giving in to Lila and then resisting her control, I would've never had time to heal everyone. You freed Félix, so he could help us. And let's be honest, if it weren't for me losing you to her, I would've never woken up Tikki so fast. You did protect us, Adrien. Even if you don't think so."
He didn't know he still had tears in him. They burst out of his eyes and streamed down his face. Logically, she was right. Technically, her every word made sense. But, it didn't excuse him from leaving her alone to fend for everyone when he—
"You gave me the push I needed," Marinette interrupted his thoughts. "Just like when you refused to be taken to the hospital in Paris, so I could discover my magic."
"It wasn't the same. You weren't in danger—"
"But you were, you idiot! You could've lost your sight. You could've been left with an ugly scar across your face. Or die of blood loss, for that matter!"
"But—"
"No buts!" Her voice strengthened. "Don't you understand, Adrien? There are multiple ways of winning a war. You of all people should know that. Sometimes you have to pull away and regroup. Sometimes you send spies into the enemy's territory. Sometimes the weaker ones have to protect the strong. And there are battles where the leaders have to fall for others to find the strength to stand up and push harder, and not only win the war but to save the fallen ones."
She leaned her forehead back against Adrien's, closing her eyes. Her voice grew quieter, almost a whisper. "I love you so much, Adrien. I couldn't bear to lose you. You were my reason to push harder. You were the reason this war was won. And—" She tilted back a bit, a tiny smile playing on her lips, "—even though you're undeniably the stronger one here—for now, may I add—will you refuse me the chance to protect my man? I've worked hard for this, you know."
Adrien swallowed. This woman! She was beyond anything he'd ever imagined, everything he could've ever dreamed of. Kind and gentle, yet strong and powerful. Her love healed, her touch soothed. She wasn't perfect by any means, but she was ideal in his eyes. And yes, perhaps, he wasn't worthy. Perhaps, he didn't deserve her, but life without Marinette was scarcely an option. Her hold on his heart was absolute. He couldn't even find the right words to tell her how much he loved her. Instead, tears continued to stream down his face as Adrien clung to the woman whose forgiveness he didn't deserve but was blessed to have.
"You need to rest, Adrien," Marinette whispered, gently rubbing his back. "We both need to rest."
She was right once again. His body and soul were tired and hurting. He was barely staying awake at this point, and tomorrow would surely be busy. He'd have to go back home. He'd have to face his father. His mother might awaken from her months-long sleep. He couldn't face her in the condition he was currently in.
He didn't want to part with Marinette just yet, though, so, bringing her just a bit closer, Adrien whispered against her skin, "Stay with me."
"Why do you think I came back?" She kissed his cheek and pulled away. Then, stood up and took his hand, bringing him up with her.
Adrien silently followed Marinette to his bed, and once she was safely in his embrace, everything else ceased to matter.
No Lila.
No guilt.
No shame.
No fathers, no orders or chains.
Just him and his Lady.
And their happily ever after in front of them.
***
Morning came sooner than Adrien would have liked, but his head was clearer and his guilt lighter. His actions yesterday were nothing to be proud of, but perhaps Marinette was right. Perhaps, he did contribute to the victory.
For one, he freed Felix, bringing down the number of their opponents, at the same time, giving them a powerful ally. And maybe Marinette did manifest Tikki because she had to stand against Chat Blanc. She was amazing like that. Others would've given up in her place, but not his Lady.
No! Marinette was a fighter, and that seemingly-hopeless situation only fired her up to push harder. And, gosh, she was so strong!
Strong enough to protect everyone.
Strong enough to win over Lila.
Strong enough to save him when he had fallen due to his own foolishness.
Gently, Adrien reached to brush away a few stray hairs from her sleeping face.
Beautiful.
Amazing.
Everything he'd ever wished for.
His fingers lingered, softly stroking her cheek, drawing closer to the lips he loved to kiss so much.
Marinette scrunched her nose; her mouth twitched and melted into a sleepy grin. She shifted closer, cuddling against his chest. With her eyes still closed, she sighed softly against his skin, "Good morning."
"Good morning, Princess." Adrien wrapped her in his arms, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "Did I wake you up?"
She shook her head. "I was lazing around for the last ten minutes or so." Pausing, she opened her eyes. Blue like an ocean, fresh like the mountain spring. Filled with warmth and unconditional acceptance, they sparkled and lured, and watched him lovingly. With her hand, she cradled the side of his face and smiled. "How are you feeling?"
Her touch warmed his skin. Adrien closed his eyes in delight. "Better. Thanks to you."
She relaxed, melting back into his embrace. "Good. I—"
"Adrien? You up yet?" A knock ripped through the room, Nino's voice coming from behind the door.
Yelping, Marinette ducked under the comforter.
Adrien couldn't help a chuckle, slipping under the covers after her. "And why are we hiding?"
"I'm hiding," Marinette whispered. "You aren't. You get out there and make sure he doesn't know I'm here."
Adrien shifted closer, a lopsided smile on his lips. She was adorable. "Why?"
"Because I broke in yesterday," Marinette whispered feverishly. "I didn't want to trouble Nino, so I might have created a key to your apartment and sneaked in."
Adrien chuckled, pulling his girlfriend closer. "Want to bet he already knows?"
"No, he doesn't!"
"If you're stalling because you're trying to hide Marinette, please, stop and get out here," Nino yelled. "It's kind of urgent."
"See?" Adrien chuckled. "Nino isn't my guard for no reason. He might not be perfect but he's really good at his job."
Marinette pouted and dove further under the comforter. "Good for you."
Adrien laughed. Leaning closer, he kissed the side of Marinette's head. "I'll be right back."
***
"So what's so urgent you had to drag me away from Marinette?"
"Your father." Nino pushed Adrien's cell phone into his hands as soon as he closed the door to his bedroom behind himself. "He's been trying to reach you since yesterday evening. I figured you needed a moment to yourself before you would want to talk to him, but he took Max in for questioning, so you'd better contact him. You know what he's like when he wants something, and he sounds desperate in his voicemails."
Adrien let out a sigh. With everything that was going on, contacting his father was the last thing he wanted to do right now. Or perhaps it was a habit by now: avoid engaging more than necessary unless he wanted to get more orders. Though logically that shouldn't be an issue anymore—Marinette had freed him from that burden. And there was a good reason for them to finally talk: his mother and their miraculouses.
"Thanks, Nino. I'll call him right away."
Nino nodded and vanished. Adrien slipped back into his bedroom, climbed into his bed, and cuddled up to Marinette.
Free of his bounds or not, he wanted her by his side when he'd speak to his father again. Because after the events of yesterday, he had little strength left to hold back and be the perfect son his father had expected him to be.
No.
Right now, Adrien was anything but perfect. He had too many questions, and too many feelings raging inside of him; he was still too angry about the whole situation. So many things they had to discuss, he wouldn’t even know where to start. Adrien needed more time to compose himself and gather his thoughts before he could face his father again. The extra time that his father wasn't willing to grant him.
Marinette wrapped her arms around him, laying her head on his chest. "So what was so urgent?"
"I have to call my father."
A silent 'Oh' slipped Marinette's lips. Her hold on him tightened. "Do you?"
Adrien slightly nodded. "He's been trying to reach me since yesterday. Nino's been blocking him to let us rest, but he took one of our friends in for questioning."
"That doesn't sound that good. Will he… you know—"
Adrien shook his head. "Father knows Max is my friend. He won't hurt him. But since he doesn't have his powers to get the info out of him by akumatization, this kind of worries me."
Adrien shifted his gaze to Marinette, a smile sneaking onto his lips. "I don't have a lot of people I care about and the last thing I want to do is to create problems for them. Father knows that, so this is his way of luring me out. Nothing more." He paused, leaning to rest his forehead against Marinette's, then continued in a whisper. "And it's not like I don't want to talk to him as well. We have… a lot to discuss. I just hoped I would have more time before I needed to contact him."
With a soft smile, Marinette reached out and lightly stroked his cheek. "You can do it, Adrien. You're free of him now."
"Thanks to you." Adrien leaned into her touch, closing his eyes. "Will you stay with me while I call?"
"If you want me to."
He covered her hand with his, pressing it closer to his cheek. "I need you to stay. We're a team. We do everything together. Even calling my father. Please, stay."
"Then I'm not moving from this place."
"Thank you."
Tilting his head slightly, Adrien kissed the inside of Marinette's hand and pulled away reluctantly. Sitting up, he leaned against the headboard. Marinette cuddled against his side, wrapping her arms around his middle. He fiddled with his cell phone for another few seconds before dialling his father's number.
"Adrien?" Gabriel's voice sounded frantic, somewhat pleading. "Adrien, son, please, tell me you're okay? Did she do anything to you? Adrien?"
Adrien quirked an eyebrow. Well, this was new. Father was concerned about him?
"I'm fine, Father. Don't worry."
There was a sigh of relief on the other side, then Gabriel continued, "Did you get your mother's miraculous? Lila had it on her. Your mother's and mine."
"I have them both."
"Good." Gabriel exhaled. "You need to bring them here as soon as you can, Adrien. Your mother can't recover without Duusu, and with how long it took us to get it back—"
"Us?" Adrien interrupted, his composure finally cracking. "Father, I wasn't even aware my mother's miraculous was stolen," he gritted through his teeth. "Why didn't you tell me? I'm not a stranger or incapable. I could've helped you look for it. This whole thing could've been avoided if you only trusted me enough."
"It's not about my trust in you," Gabriel replied. "You know I trust you, Adrien. But I had to be extra careful. If too many people were looking for it, we could've spooked the thief and lost the miraculous forever. Along with your mother."
"So you just decided it was better to search for it by yourself?"
"I wasn't alone. Nathalie was helping me. And we found the thief. It wasn't for nothing."
"Wasn't for nothing?" Adrien snarled. "Father, you ended up losing your miraculous to her as well! You left me to deal with this alone, without even informing me that 'this' was a thing! How did you expect me to help you?"
Gabriel sighed and took a moment before he answered. "It was either me giving her my miraculous or watching her break the peacock brooch in front of me. Would you rather have me allow her to kill your mother or lose a battle and let you win the war?"
"I didn't know there was a war!" Adrien cried out. "How was I supposed to win it?"
"I believe I gave you enough clues, Adrien," Gabriel stated. "You knew something was wrong, don't tell me you didn't. You knew the moment I tried to force that scam of marriage on you. Or when I mentioned the Italian alliance we already have. You knew something was wrong. I saw it on your face. And the fact that I haven't even tried to contact you for several months? I'm not the best of fathers, but I'm not a heartless monster either."
"I would have appreciated a bit more detail," Adrien huffed after a moment's consideration. "I almost lost everything I have because of this whole mess."
"I did lose everything," Gabriel snapped. "Well, almost. You were safe for the time being, but even that was in jeopardy."
"You could have reached out to Master Fu."
"And led her straight to all the other miraculouses?"
Adrien pressed his lips together. As much as he hated to admit it, perhaps his father had a point. The last thing they needed was for Lila to find out about Master Fu and all the other miraculouses.
"Adrien, look," Gabriel broke the silence. "I'm sorry I didn't include you in the initial search. I did what I thought was best for everyone at the moment, but I can see now that, perhaps, I was wrong."
Well… Um… That was also new. His father never apologized. And to Adrien of all people?
"However, once that sleaze got her hands on my miraculous as well, it was too dangerous for me to involve you any more directly than I already had," Gabriel added. "You must understand that, don't you?"
He could see where Gabriel was coming from. Didn't mean Adrien liked it.
Gabriel continued, "So, can we put this aside for now and focus on getting your mother back to life? She needs her miraculous, now. Come home, Adrien. Your mother needs you."
Adrien sighed. As unusual as it was to hear his father apologize, perhaps he shouldn't be too surprised—Gabriel Agreste was infamous for loving his Queen so much he would move mountains for her. A half-hearted apology to get his son to bring her miraculous back home was nothing he wasn't willing to do.
Still, Adrien couldn't help but retaliate, "You do realize I'm not under your control anymore?"
"I'm not ordering, Adrien. I'm begging," Gabriel said. "She's your mother. You just yelled at me for not letting you help. What's stopping you now?"
Adrien sighed. As much as he didn't want to go back home just yet, Father was right—he should. His mother did need him. He was angry at his father for not letting him help her in the first place. Why would he hesitate now that the solution was, literally, in his hands?
His eyes shifted to Marinette. Her smile was loving, her gaze full of support. With her by his side, he could do anything. "I'll come home by the end of the day. Call for Master Fu in case we'll need help, and let Max go. He didn't do anything."
His father sounded relieved. "Thank you."
"I'll see you later, Father."
"See you soon, Adrien."
Ending the call, Adrien slumped against the pillows, closing his eyes. His hand searched for Marinette's, grasping at it for support. "I have to go back. We'll try to bring Mom back."
"Alright." She squeezed his hand in hers, pressing her lips to his skin in a chaste kiss. "Do you mind if we stop by the bakery first? I'd like to change and pack a few things. It won't take long."
Somehow, he wasn't even surprised. He still had to ask, "You want to come with me?"
Marinette nodded. "Of course. You might need my help. Master Fu did say I was better than any doctor, didn't he?"
Her grin was endearing, her smile—intoxicating. Adrien couldn't help but pull Marinette into a hug, grasping at her as if his life depended on it. He'd known her his whole life. He’d loved her just as long. They've been through a lot together. He didn't think he could love her any more than he already did, and yet… the feverish beating in his chest, the tears gathering at the brim of his eyes, that tender fluttering in his stomach… they all were proving him very wrong.
Adrien squeezed harder, bringing Marinette even closer.
"I love you," he whispered against the flushed skin of her shoulder.
"I love you so much," he breathed out, in his heart, vowing once more to spend his life making sure this woman knew how beautiful she was, inside and out, how hopelessly in love he was with her, how hard he'd fight to keep her safe and healthy and in his life.
***
Nothing had changed in the scenery of the palace. Those same impenetrable walls, the same faceless people roaming around, the same feeling of loneliness and isolation lurking behind the windows. Adrien held onto Marinette's hand harder.
The scenery was the same, but his life wasn't.
He had his Lady by his side. He was free of his father's binds. He was about to get his mother back… so why was he feeling so uneasy? Why did his stomach tighten at the mere thought of their car stopping at the front entrance of his home in a few minutes? Why was he—
"Oh! I can see Master Fu!" Marinette beamed, looking through the window. "Is that your father? He looks like your father. But I’ve only seen him on TV or in pictures so, you know, I might be mistaken because, you know, I'm sure His Majesty has doubles or something to stand in his place, so he might have sent a double to meet us. He wouldn't do something like that to you, would he? It's so beautiful here, though! You'll have to show me around later."
Adrien chuckled, stirring out of his anxious bubble. His guilt and his mistakes might haunt him all they wanted, but there was no doubt in his mind—with Marinette by his side, he would be alright.
"Father has a few doubles," he answered, glancing at the figures at the grand staircase of the main entrance. "But that is him, don't worry."
"Of course it's him." The corners of Marinette's smile trembled more with each passing second. "The real deal. The King himself, right? As in the Sovereign of France? His Royal Majesty Gabriel Agreste, right?"
Adrien muffled another chuckle. "He's just a man like you and me, regardless of his position in society. Don't be nervous."
"I'm not nervous!" Marinette squeaked.
Adrien quirked an eyebrow.
"Okay, fine. I might be a little nervous." Marinette sighed, slumping into her seat. "But you can't blame me. He's a father to you. To me, he's the king of my country, someone I’ve only seen on TV and in newspapers before, someone you don't just stroll over to and say 'Hello! My name is Marinette and I'm your son's girlfriend. Please, like me, won't you?'"
Adrien laughed, all traces of his previous worries disappearing like snow in the middle of July somewhere in a tropical belt.
"Not funny," Marinette huffed, her lips curling in an adorable pout.
"I'm sorry," he whispered, bringing her hand to his lips. She was adorable. His miracle. His Marinette.
"You'll do great." He brushed his lips against the top of her knuckles in a tender kiss. "He'll like you. I'm sure of it."
"Promise?" She searched his face for the hope she didn't need.
"You're about to give the man his wife back. There is nothing you can do that will make him dislike you after that."
Her lips melted in a smile, eyes softening.
Adrien leaned down. Maybe he could steal another kiss or two before—
The car's doors opened on either side of them, two of the palace's employees standing ready to help them out.
Adrien muffled a groan. Seemed like kissing his girlfriend senseless would have to wait. Instead, he squeezed her hand one last time, mouthed I Love You, and, plastering a smile on his face, turned to the man by his door. "Hello, Jaque."
"Welcome home, Your Highness."
Forgetting any further niceties, Adrien hopped out on his side and quickly got on the other to help Marinette out.
She looked a little less than terrified. "Adrien, wait. I forgot to ask: do I curtsy? When do I curtsy? When do I speak? Do I speak at all? What do I do???"
Suppressing a chuckle, Adrien offered her his hand and pulled her out of the car. "Just be yourself, Marinette. Don't worry about the rules for now."
She hesitantly nodded and followed him to a grand staircase on which two men, surrounded by a small army of servants, stood in the middle.
"Father. Master Fu." Adrien nodded his head slightly.
The men followed his suit, Master Fu turning to Marinette right after. "It's very nice to see you again, Marinette. I sense a change in you. Perhaps, after this all is done and over with, you can humour me with a cup of tea and a story?"
"Absolutely." Marinette managed a smile, her voice still faltering a bit. She cleared her throat and added, "It's very nice to see you again as well, Master Fu."
"Adrien?" Gabriel spoke impatiently, standing tall and proud in his place. "Will you introduce us?"
"Of course." Adrien stirred. "Marinette, you've already met Master Fu. And this,"—he motioned to Gabriel— "this is my father, His Majesty the King of France Gabriel Agreste. Master Fu, Father, this is my girlfriend, Marinette Dupain-Cheng."
Master Fu smiled.
Gabriel slightly nodded his head. "Nice to meet you, Mlle Dupain-Cheng. I hope the trip was to your satisfaction?"
Adrien could feel every muscle in Marinette's body stiffen as her lips stretched in a tense smile. "Nice to meet you, Your Majesty. And yes, the journey was satisfactory. Very much so—um… Thank you for asking."
"Glad to hear it." Gabriel nodded again. "My secretary will show you to your room so you can rest and recuperate after the trip." Turning to Adrien, he added. "I'd like you to follow me straight away."
"Of course." Adrien didn't want to delay getting his mother back as well. "But Marinette's coming with us. We might need her help."
Marinette stiffened even more as Gabriel looked at her, shifting his gaze to Master Fu right after.
Master Fu cleared his throat, getting ready to depart. "Adrien is right. I've seen Mlle Dupain-Cheng at work. We will benefit from her presence."
Gabriel looked at Marinette again.
A moment passed. Maybe two.
He deeply inhaled and closed his eyes for a fraction of a second. "Alright. Shall we go then? The Queen is waiting."
***
The room felt just as still as ever. Mother lay peacefully in her slumber, just like the day he'd left. Sunlight filtered through the white, sheer curtains, softly dancing with the breeze sneaking into the room, only the faint chirping of the birds outside the windows and the sounds of their footsteps filling the space.
Gabriel turned to Adrien as soon as the door behind the four of them closed. "Your mother's miraculous?"
Adrien pulled the peacock brooch from the inside pocket of his jacket and handed it over to his father without a word. His eyes were glued to his mother. She was the warmth that helped him get through his life-long imprisonment. She was his friend. His confidant. Someone he missed dearly. More than he’d realized until he looked at her peaceful features again.
"Thank you." Gabriel pinned the brooch to his wife's blouse.
The brooch glowed and burst with lights. Duusu, his mother's kwami, zoomed out of it right after.
"Emilie!" The little peacock yelped and immediately vanished inside his wielder's body.
Emilie gasped for air. Her eyebrows furrowed, her nose scrunched, her fingertips twitched.
Gabriel grabbed at her hand, his eyes glued to her face. "Emilie?"
She didn't respond, instead grimacing even more, like she was having a nightmare or was stuck in a dream she couldn't escape from.
Master Fu took Emilie's other hand and closed his eyes. He remained silent for a few moments, before sighing. "Duusu is working hard, but they've been ripped apart rather violently and have been separated for too long. It'll take some time." Opening his eyes, he looked at Marinette. "Unless you can give them a boost."
Marinette glanced at Adrien as if asking for permission. He nodded, squeezing her hand in his before letting go.
She shifted her eyes to his father. The man hesitated for a fraction of a second, then stood aside. "I would be most grateful if you could help us, Mlle. Dupain-Cheng."
Marinette swallowed and took a step closer. "I'll try my best. However, since I'm not very skilled with my magic on my own yet, perhaps Master Fu can assist me. Like the last time, with Adrien."
Said man chuckled and shook his head. "I'm honoured you'd consider me, but I believe you have a far greater ally now than an old man like myself. Tikki will do a much better job than I ever could."
Adrien's heart raced as he scanned the room, searching for the kwamis. In all the havoc of the last two days, he'd all but forgotten about his. Not that it was hard to do, seeing as Plagg fled to Marinette—or rather Tikki—as soon as Chat Blanc vanished and was yet to reappear.
"Of course." Marinette reached for her purse, nodding. "But if I may, I'd like to transform. I'm still learning and would need Tikki's help if I'm to be of any assistance."
"Feel free to do whatever you need," Master Fu said.
Gabriel simply nodded.
Marinette opened her purse and called for Tikki.
Instead, Plagg's loud huffing filled the space. "Tikki's busy. She's not available."
Adrien closed his eyes, suppressing a chuckle. One day apart. And not for the first time, at that. How did he manage to miss the stinker already?
"Plagg, let me go!" A different voice sounded from Marinette's purse, a small ladybug kwami flying out a moment later with Plagg clinging to her middle. She nervously smiled at her wielder, trying to shrug the kwami of destruction off herself. "How can I help you, Marinette?"
"We need to help the queen," Marinette said, motioning to the bed.
Tikki looked at the sleeping woman, tilting her head to the side. She carefully observed her for a few heartbeats, then nodded. "Alright. We can do that."
"Traitor," Plagg grumbled and hid in Adrien's collar.
Adrien couldn't help but pet the kwami. "Happy to see you again, Plagg."
"Well, I didn't miss you at all," the kwami huffed, snuggling to Adrien's neck, a low purr rumbling against his skin. "Subject me to akumatization again and I'm moving out permanently."
"Sounds fair," Adrien gave him an under-chin scratch and turned his attention back to Marinette.
She had already called for her transformation, a pink glow washing over her body. Adrien breathed in, a lop-sided smile stretching on his lips. He would never be able to get used to this. His heart pounded erratically, heat spreading over his face.
Marinette was always exceptionally beautiful, but as Ladybug, she was gorgeous beyond all words.
As if feeling his gaze, she looked his way. Her lips parted, a light blush bloomed on her cheeks, but before she could say anything, Master Fu called her name.
"This way, my dear."
Ladybug nodded and took the man's place by the bed of the sleeping queen. She glanced at Adrien one last time, then, placed her hand on Emilie's head and closed her eyes.
The spots on her suit glowed.
The room grew silent, only the faint sounds of the city below filtering through an open window. A faint shimmering flowed from under Ladybug's hands and spread all over Emilie's skin.
Adrien could scarcely breathe. His heart, loud as thunder, echoed in his ears.
Here it was. The moment he'd been waiting for for months, given to him by the one he loved. He swallowed, looking at Ladybug's face, calm and collected, with a little frown in between her eyebrows.
Gorgeous.
So powerful.
"Brain damage," Ladybug whispered, breaking his train of thought. "Minor dehydration and weakened muscles, but nothing too serious. A broken bond between a wielder and their kwami. Duusu's almost done fixing that as well."
Adrien's eyes widened as his mother's whole body began to glow, slightly trembling. The moment Ladybug took her hands off, the woman sucked in the air and opened her eyes.
"Emilie?" Gabriel grabbed at his wife's hand. "Emilie, can you hear me?"
Her lips parted, a frown creased her face. Emilie Agreste took a deep breath in and rasped, "Gabriel?"
"Emilie!" The king frantically pulled his wife to himself. "How are you feeling? Do you hurt anywhere? Do you need anything? We've arrested that traitor. She'll rot in prison until the end of her days."
Adrien was barely holding his tears back. His mother's voice was weak and shaky, but it warmed his heart like nothing else ever could. Her eyes, almost identical to his own, were frantically scanning the room, bewildered and disoriented, but they were finally open after he'd shamelessly lost almost all hope of ever seeing them again.
"Mom?" Adrien stepped closer, his voice trembling. Without a second thought, he’d kneeled by her bed, grabbing onto her hand. "How are you feeling, mom?"
"My love," Emilie whispered, her gaze finally focused on Gabriel, soft and gentle. She turned to Adrien next, squeezing his hand tight. "My son, darling. I could hear everything you told me. Did you find her? Did you find your Ladybug?"
Swallowing the knot in his throat, Adrien nodded and standing up, pulled Ladybug to his side. "Mom, meet Marinette. My Ladybug."
His mother's gaze shifted to his girlfriend. She smiled. "If I trust what I've felt just now, can I assume that I have you to thank for my recovery?"
"Not at all, Your Majesty." Ladybug shook her head. "Your kwami did the main job. I merely helped."
"Duusu?" Emilie shifted and tried to sit up.
Gabriel rushed to help her. "Careful, Emilie. You need to get your strength back."
"I feel amazing," Emilie replied. "Where's Duusu?"
"Finishing his job," Master Fu spoke, coming closer. "This young lady boosted him enough to get you healed faster, but there is a bond to restore, without which you won't be able to access his magic. That part, only Duusu can do. He'll manifest once the damage has been repaired."
"I apologize for the intrusion." His father's secretary, Nathalie Sancoeur, slipped into the room. "The royal physician is here as you requested, Your Majesty."
Emilie frowned. "Gabriel, I don't—"
"It's just a precaution," the man replied. "You were in a coma for months. I just want to make sure everything is fine."
"Father," Adrien stepped in. "With all due respect, Marinette healed me once too and she did an incredible job. There is nothing to worry about."
Ladybug quietly grabbed at his sleeve. "Last time, I had Master Fu's help. I don't think it's unreasonable to get checked. Especially, since I'm still just learning."
Gabriel raised an eyebrow approvingly, turning to Adrien. "Why don't you show Mlle Dupain-Cheng around for half an hour or so? We should be done by then."
Adrien glanced at his girlfriend. She was looking at him anxiously, slightly nibbling on her lip. His gaze shifted to his mother.
She softly smiled in return. "Do give us a few minutes, darling. I'll call for you as soon as we're done."
"Alright." Adrien gave in, taking Ladybug's hand. "There is one place I'd like to show you, My Lady. Shall we?"
Ladybug's face lit up. She followed him out into the hallway with a smile, but as soon as the door behind them closed, her shoulders slumped and she let out a sigh. "I survived."
Adrien chuckled, pulling her to his chest. She did so much more than just survive this awkward "meet the parents" thing.
She gave him his mother back.
And here he thought he couldn't love her any more than he'd already done. He didn’t deserve her. Not after he’d almost—
Adrien shook his head.
No! Not now.
His guilt was lighter, but it was still there; his distress—smaller, but it hadn’t vanished overnight. He would deal with both of them later, though. Right now, he had more important things to attend to. He had to become stronger. He must if he wanted to protect his loved ones. And neither of those things would be happening if he were to mope around about his mistakes, instead of learning his lessons, growing from them, and moving on.
His eyes prickled with tears, his chest filling with warmth. Adrien closed his eyes and hid his face in the crook of Ladybug's neck, tightening his hold on her.
This woman.
This amazing, phenomenal girl.
Meeting her had changed his life. She broke the shackles his father kept him in. She healed his mother when all hope was almost gone. She saved him when he'd fallen, protecting the whole country, if not the world, in the process. She was his best friend. She was his lover. His support and inspiration and he'd be damned if he didn't spend the rest of his life ensuring she knew how wonderful and beautiful and loved she was.
"Adrien?" Ladybug whispered, hugging him back. "Is everything okay?"
He nodded, swallowing down the thickness in his throat. "I'm just… Thank you. Thank you so much. For everything."
The space around them brightened with her smile. His heart raced, a pleasant tingling rushing down his body as she cupped his face and kissed his cheek. "I didn't do much, but you're welcome."
"Before you murder me with this lovey-dovey crap," Plagg zoomed out of Adrien's collar with an expression of absolute disgust on his face. "Can I have my Sugar Cube back?"
"Sure." Ladybug chuckled, releasing her transformation. Plagg didn't wait around, grabbing Tikki as soon as she was out of the earrings and vanishing with her in his arms in Marinette's purse.
"So?" Marinette turned to Adrien before he could say a word. "You said you have someplace to show me?"
A corner of Adrien's lips tugged in a smile. She was right once again. They should leave the continuation of this conversation for later when they were alone and in private. After all, they were expected to return before his parents in about half an hour. They should look presentable enough for that. And he was already looking at her lips. She might have noticed that.
"This way, My Lady." Adrien motioned ahead of himself and taking Marinette's hand, led her straight to the most beautiful spot at the castle—his bedroom's balcony.
***
"Wow!" Marinette grabbed at the railing as soon as they arrived. "That's your bedroom's view?"
Adrien proudly smirked. His parents did essentially imprison him at the palace, but they also did try to make it a bit more bearable by giving him the biggest quarters with the most amazing views. Particularly, from this side of his apartment, one was able to see almost the entirety of Paris, the Seine, and the Eiffel Tower. And on a sunny day like today, the view was beyond spectacular.
"You like it?" He stood beside Marinette, watching her as she took in the scenery.
She grinned, her eyes sparkling. "I love it!"
Adrien couldn't help a smile himself, trying to memorize this moment. She was so beautiful. What would he have given to see her here, like this, every day, watching the sunset and meeting the sunrise with him…
Adrien's heart skipped a beat.
He looked into his bedroom, quickly scanning the room. There it was—his luggage beside his wardrobe, brought up here by the staff but not unpacked yet.
Adrien glanced back at Marinette, his breathing slowing. Perhaps, he was jumping the gun, but somehow, it felt long overdue.
"Do you want anything to eat or drink?" He tried to give her as gentle of a smile as he could muster at a moment, rubbing the back of his neck at the same time.
Marinette shook her head, her eyes glued to the scenery. "Maybe later. I'm still too nervous to eat anything."
"Then, I'll get myself a glass of water," Adrien's smile turned a quivering grin as he stepped away and headed straight for the bag he kept his most valuable items in.
The black, velvet box he'd brought to Dupont but never used was right where he'd packed it. Adrien took it out and opened—
"Adrien?" His father's voice sounded from behind the door alongside a knock. "May I come in?"
Adrien groaned, closing his eyes for a moment, then stuffed the box in his pocket and headed for the door.
"Father?" His smile was polite and calm. He was good at those. "Did the physician finish already?"
Gabriel shook his head. "Not yet. Can I talk to your Ladybug?"
Adrien quirked an eyebrow. "About?"
"Your mother insisted I thank her properly," Gabriel explained. "And you know how she—"
"Adrien?" Marinette sounded like she was about to be right behind him. "Can I get some—Oh! Your Majesty."
His father didn't wait for permission, stepping into the room. "I apologize for the intrusion, Mlle Dupain-Cheng, but the Queen insis—I mean, my wife and I, we both wanted to thank you for the help you've provided to us and our son. As a token of our appreciation, we'd like to grant you any wish you may desire, in reasonable bounds, of course."
Adrien could hardly suppress a smirk. This was a rare sight. His father was not a very generous man, and he rarely expressed gratitude. He was, however, a husband who worshiped the ground his wife walked on, and he did always express his gratitude or affection in the form of a gift. If Adrien had to guess—his father being here and offering his gratitude to Marinette was his mother's condition for getting checked by a physician…a situation which Adrien, perhaps, could have a little fun with as well. Get a little retribution for years of obeying this man's every word.
"I… well," Marinette stumbled over her words, looking at Adrien with a pleading expression. "I'm not sure—"
"Let Marinette think about it for a few minutes," Adrien helped her out. Then, crossed his arms over his chest and watched his father carefully. "Meanwhile, don't you think I deserve your thanks as well?"
Gabriel quirked an eyebrow. "For saving your own mother?"
"For retrieving your miraculous." Adrien pulled the brooch out of his breast pocket. "Unless you don't want it back?"
Gabriel pressed his lips into a thin line. Stretching his hand out, he mumbled, "Fine. I thank you for getting Nooroo back."
Adrien cocked his head to the side. "So do I get a wish as well?"
"If you must, but I fail to see why you'll need me to grant you one," Gabriel scoffed. "You are more than capable of getting anything you want."
"After my graduation, I want to take a year off to travel the world," Adrien stated, withholding returning the butterfly miraculous to its owner. "With Marinette, if she'd like to go with me. And after I return, we're not keeping me a secret anymore. I'm done being a prisoner in my own home."
Gabriel slowly nodded, his lips white from the pressure he'd been putting on them. "You're an adult already. You know what you're doing. Now, can I have my miraculous back?"
Adrien put the brooch into Gabriel's hand. It burst into flames, a little purple butterfly zooming out of the jewel.
"Master!" The kwami yelped and bowed its little head. "I'm glad your plan worked."
The corner of Gabriel's lips twitched in a barely-there smile. He composed himself a moment later and cleared his throat. "Of course, it worked. Now, if you don't mind, I might not have collapsed as my wife did, but my heart and my stomach have been giving me quite a headache."
"Understood." Nooroo bowed again and disappeared into Gabriel's chest.
Gabriel closed his eyes for a brief moment, sighing in relief. Then, turned to Marinette with a smile on his face. "Now, let me know what you wish for, Mlle Dupain-Cheng."
Marinette glanced at Adrien before shifting her gaze back to Gabriel. "I appreciate the offer, Your Majesty, but I don't need—"
"Mother won't let him off the hook if he doesn't compensate you somehow," Adrien whispered into her ear. "Just ask for anything. You deserved it. And it's not like he'll go broke even if you'll ask for half of Paris."
Marinette swallowed, glancing at Adrien, her eyes full of uncertainty. He nodded, slightly smiling.
"Okay." Marinette straightened and looked back at Gabriel. "In that case, can you assist my parents in relocating their bakery to Paris?"
"Hey! That's not fair!" Adrien protested. "I was supposed to do that."
"You'll be busy finishing your studies and travelling the world, won't you?" Gabriel raised an eyebrow, a satisfied smirk on his face. Addressing Marinette, he slightly bowed. "They shall have the best building in the best location, equipped with the latest technology. Anything else?"
"That'll be all. Thank you." Marinette said quietly.
Gabriel hummed, nodding slightly. Glancing at Adrien he added. "I'll get Nathalie to start on that straight away. A bakery and a year-long, world-round trip for two. Now, if you'll excuse me, I must depart. The physician should be done with checking on the Queen by now."
He was gone as fast as he'd appeared.
"That was a bit awkward." Marinette let out a shaky breath. "Is this normal for you?"
Adrien chuckled, pulling her to himself. "Pretty much. Father is a very busy person, so to compensate for his absence, he would give me gifts. Inside castle walls, that is."
His mind wandered to the past. As a young boy, Adrien didn't mind his father's ways that much. It was sometime around his teenage years when that got old. The day his father sent him an extravagant gift but spent exactly half an hour at his birthday dinner for the third year in a row, Adrien vowed to never be like him and always prioritize his family above anything else.
Marinette wrapped her hands around his chest. "Is that why you asked for the trip?"
Adrien nodded. "I'm sick of being held inside. The last few months in Dupont opened a whole new world to me, and I need to see more. If I am to be a good leader one day, if I want to be better as a man, I have to see the world, I have to experience it myself, not just learn about it from books."
"That's a good reason. You should definitely go."
Adrien looked at Marinette, at her smile, her eyes, the lovely expression she had on her face. "Will you go with me? I want to share this with you. Think of all the inspiration you'll get for your designs while travelling. All the different cultures and places we'd see. You'll have a few fashion lines ready by the end of our trip. So it's not just for pleasure and all. That's education and work as well."
A quiet giggle slipped her lips. "Well, if you put it that way, how can I refuse?"
"You can't." Adrien grinned and leaned down to place a faint kiss on her lips. "You love me too much to stay away from me for a year."
Marinette didn't hold back, retaliating, her lips pressing against the corner of his. "I do love you that much. Perhaps even more."
"Then, we'll depart as soon as both of us graduate." He aimed for her nose.
Marinette squeaked and kissed his jaw. "Sounds reasonable."
"And after we'll come back, we'll—" he pressed his lips to her forehead, stalling. He hadn't asked her yet. They'd gotten distracted and he'd forgotten.
"After we come back, we will what?" Marinette asked, her lips glazing the skin of his neck.
A pleasant shiver ran down his spine. Adrien breathed in, trying to suppress the fluttery feeling in his stomach. Technically, he could back out and come up with something like “go to work” or “party all night”. He could say they'd go public about both his identity and their relationship.
He didn't want either of those things more than he wanted her, though. So, Adrien reached into his pocket and pulled a small black box out, his eyes focused on Marinette.
She tried and failed to muffle a gasp with her hand, taking a step back. Her eyes widened as Adrien dropped to one knee and opened the box.
"Marinette," Adrien said, taking a deep breath in. "I love you. In my dreams or this reality, you're the best thing that has ever happened to me. You're my inspiration, my rock, and my best friend. I dread days without you by my side. You're the most amazing, beautiful, and talented woman I've ever met, and you'll be the best queen France could ever hope for. So, after we come back from our trip, will you do me the honour of becoming my wife, my official princess and the future queen of France?"
He could see the tears in her eyes, could almost hear her heartbeat over the pounding of his own. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, hands slightly trembled.
"Yes," Marinette whispered, barely audible.
"Of course, it's a Yes," she squeaked louder.
"I love you!" She didn't hold back, leaping forward and wrapping her arms around him. Her lips crushed against his just as tears burst from her eyes.
Adrien pulled her closer, letting the box hit the floor after he'd pulled the ring out. Catching a moment between the kisses, he reached for her hand and slipped it on.
"I love you," he whispered. Cradling her face, he brought her back to him, his lips searching hers again.
"If it's a dream, I don't want to wake up," Marinette breathed out.
He couldn't help a joyful chuckle. "You want your whole life to be a dream?"
She kissed his cheek, then kissed his nose. Then, pressed her lips to his. "If it's a dream of you, then yes, absolutely!"
His heart pounding, Adrien swallowed. His hands tingled with need. The urge to love and cherish this woman the way she deserved. Simply kisses wouldn't do. They might not have enough time for something more elaborate, but there were a few things he knew she'd enjoy that were less time-consuming.
He swiftly swooped her in his arms and headed deeper into his bedroom, his lips whispering feverishly against her skin. "Then, dreams of me you shall have, My Lady. Dreams of us, being happy together until the very end. In this reality and when we're asleep."
Marinette giggled, holding tightly onto him. She laid her head against his chest and closed her eyes, a little smile playing on her lips. "Everything I ever wanted. In this reality or when we're asleep."

Can I request a Joe Mazzello x reader oneshot where reader and their toddler daughter come surprise visit Joe on the set of Bohemian Rhapsody?
A/N It's about damn time that I get to this, it's been sitting in my inbox for I don't know how long. My sincerest apologies my darling, I live in shame. Hopefully, this makes up for the wait!
My Best Girls
Masterlist
Joe Mazzello x fem! Reader
Warnings: Fluffy as s h i t. Slightly suggestive content at the end.
Joe turned off his phone, wishing he could jump right through it.
The boys were just over halfway through filming and he missed you more than ever. He'd just gotten off of a Facetime call with you and your daughter Lila, who had learned how to say Bohemian Rhapsody just for her dad. Watching you slowly coach her through it made his heart heavy and he turned away to blink back tears.
Homesickness sucked and right now Joseph Mazzello was painfully homesick and wallowed in it for the next 30 minutes. Rami knocked on the door to his trailer to let him know he was needed on set. Joe nodded, unable to conceal the look of upset on his face. Rami was privy to his best mate's struggles and gave him a hug. He was also privy, however, to the surprise that would be awaiting him outside.
Joe squared his shoulders and walked onto the set of Freddie's house and faltered when he saw someone who looked a lot like his wife wearing what looked a lot like his polo shirt chatting to Gwilym. Suddenly a tiny child with springy red hair sprinted up to you and leapt into your arms and Joe realised that that was his child with his wife and his polo shirt.
"Baby?"
You turned your head and saw your beloved husband standing there in Deacy attire and complete and utter shock.
"Daddy!"
Lila launched herself out of your arms and into Joe's where he buried his face in her curls and you knew he was crying. You speed over to your family and stood on tip-toe to kiss your husband's head as he cradled your daughter tightly.
Joe put Lila down and kissed you hard. You drowned out the wolf-whistles, the cheers, and the "Oi get a room!" from Ben. The only thing on your mind was the fact that you were in your man's arms again and you could kiss him properly and not through a cheesy kiss via facetime. You pulled away and rested your forehead against his, Cheshire grins on both of your faces.
Your friends were screaming in joy and even your daughter was clapping in her Auntie Lucy's arms. Rami had a self-satisfied, ear-to-ear smile on his face. You watched the pieces shift and click into place in Joe's brain.
"You brought them out here didn't you?"
Rami shrugged and mischief laced his words as he spoke.
"No idea what you're talking about man."
Joe rolled his eyes, albeit gratefully, and kissed you once again. Picking Lila up, your little family of three hugged tighter than ever before.
"My best girls are back. My best girls are back."
He rolled off of you, both of you panting slightly, only to pull you close to him again.
On the way back to the hotel, Joe listened with rapt attention to Lila as she droned on in scrambled English about her new teddy bear and he looked up and was smiling so big you thought his face would split. That night, while Gwil and Ben babysat her, you and Joe had some much-needed time alone.

Mini review of the umbrella academy season 3 for each character
Ben
Tumblr media
The way this version of him had a stick up his ass the whole entire time! Like bro chill and maybe stop being a jerk!?
Everyone was right old Ben was better, even at the end, he needs so much character development and honestly I miss old Ben so much it hurts 🥲💔
Luther
Tumblr media
You know what? I’m actually glad he moved on from Allison even though he still kinda kept it in the family 😀 but neither the less moved on
Episode 8 was my favorite I think, I loved the wedding and how everyone was wasted, it was nice to see them breath for a second.
Victor
Tumblr media
He’s amazing, literally so kind and sweet, him trying to keep everyone happy and safe my heart is melting.
It’s just I’m so proud of him, seeing him speak up for himself and being himself more is wonderful.
Klaus
Tumblr media
One of my top favorite characters in the series and I felt devastated when he first died
Literally his powers are so fascinating and strange, how he can’t die at all and just wow.
Heart eyes for him! Whenever he’s on screen I feel relief
Allison
Tumblr media
They literally made her character so unlikeable and after what she did from episode 5 and above I just flipped her off whenever she came on screen.
Watching her being more and more irritating made my blood boil, like everyone lost something! Like damn get your shit together 😐 like how did she become my most disliked character in the darn show???
Five
Tumblr media
He was literally my favorite character in the entire show and still is. The only logical person in the group that used their brain.
I feel so bad for him, like come here let me give you a hug old man you need it! Also I’m loving the new black suit he got going on this season
Diego
Tumblr media
Love him. Literally like I adore him he’s so…endearing, also I’m so happy he found actual love in this whole and I hope he sees his family grow.
When he was being a dad he did so well I’m proud of him. He genuinely loved Lila and I really love seeing that, they were my favorite couple this season.

Cheater || Eddie Munson
Eddie Munson x reader!Delilah
!!Warnings!!
Please do not carry on reading if you’re under the age of 18, as their are mentions of, drug usage, alcohol, violence, language, sex, and a lot of angst.
Delilah has not seen Eddie over spring break and she’s starting to think something is going on. There relationship had been going strong until Eddie starts seeing Chrissy for deals.
“Robin I don’t know where the fuck he is! I haven’t seen him all fucking week!” I shout to Robin, waving my hands around Family Tv, sorting out the tapes as I rage about Eddie.
“I bet he’s busy doing stuff,” Robin suggests, making me even more mad. “What’s more important than seeing your girlfriend of two fucking years!” I ask, turning to Steve and Robin with furrowed eyebrows and a perked lip.
“Maybe a family members died?” Steve questions, shrugging his shoulders. “We tell each other everything, it can’t be that.” I shoot his idea down, crossing my arms and feeling a pain of sadness rush through me.
“Delilah, you should talk to him. Maybe he’s at his trailer?” Robin says, climbing over the desk to get Steve’s car keys and chucking them at him.
“We aren’t looking for him.” I say, sticking my feet to the floor, shaking my head. “I thought you wanted to,” Steve says in confusion, looking at me like I had three heads.
“Yes we are Lila, now come on. This is exciting!” Robin says, grabbing my hand and pulling me out the shop, Steve quickly turn the sign to ‘Closed’.
“Won’t Keith kill us if he finds out we’re skipping work?” I ask, climbing into the backseat. “No, we’ve done it plenty of times,” Robin says, laughing at my innocence.
“Let’s go catch the ginger bread man then!” Steve says, twisting his keys, making the car rumble.
I spent the whole car ride, picking at the skin under and beside my nails, biting my lip enough to make it bleed and shaking my knee. My head was down and I didn’t say a word. What if he was cheating on me? What if he was planning to break up with me? I really didn’t want these thoughts to be true.
Steve parks his car around the corner of Eddies trailer, in hope that he doesn’t see us as we run to his trailer in need or answer.
I hesitantly climb up the steps of his trailer, my knees shaking and I bring my trembling hand up to the door, knocking twice.
“Hello Delilah! Nice to see you! Eddies in his room,” Wayne greets me, giving me a hug. It was a quick one as I run to Eddies bedroom, noticing the door was locked. He never locks his door. I put my ear to the door, to try and hear something, maybe blaring music, or his amp screeching as he strums the strings of his NJ Warlock.
As soon as my ear hits the door, I hear nothing, complete silence.
“Wayne! Do you have they key for Eddies door?” I shout to Wayne, in hopes he had it.
“Yeah! Is it locked? He never locks it?” He questions, furrowing his eyebrows. “I know, it’s not like him at all, thanks.” I say, taking the keys from his hand, and slamming Eddies door open.
I walked into his empty room, the familiar smell of cigarettes, alcohol and Eddies earthy scent hitting my nose. At first, I didn’t like the smell, but I had gotten used to it.
“Is he not in here?” Wayne asks, from the doorway. “No. I wonder where he is,” I say in confusion.
“Try find him, I’m off to the bar? Care to join?”
“No it’s alright, I’ll try look for him.” I shout to Wayne, and waving him a goodbye.
Damn. I wonder where he could be.
That is when the door slammed open, and Eddies footsteps could be heard shuffling around, with someone else’s I couldn’t quite recognise.
This made my body go in auto pilot as I shoot to his wardrobe, hiding myself in there. I probably shouldn’t be doing this.
“Ivey, would you just come on in here?” Eddie laughs. Who’s Ivey?
“I love your room, babe, very metal.” This Ivey girl giggles, sitting down on Eddies bed, resting her back against the headboard. This gave me a perfect view off her.
Black silky her covered her perfectly structured pierced face. She had huge tits, bigger than mine. And she was the spitting image of someone Eddies type.
“Do you know what else is metal?” Eddie asks, husk deep in his voice.
“Hmm I don’t know, you?” Ivey teases, squeezing her thighs together.
“You and me, doll face.” Fuck. That’s my nickname he gave me. He’s definitely fucking cheating.
Eddie slowly climbs in between Iveys legs, running his hands up and down her thighs as I sat in disbelief. I couldn’t bring myself to come out the wardrobe.
And that’s when it hit me. Eddie was kissing her. I starting silently sobbing, covering my hand with my mouth, my hands shaking as I do so.
“I love you Eddie. More than that Delilah girl does,” Ivey says in between moans. “I love you too, baby girl,” He coos, starting to take her Iron Maiden shirt off.
My voice broke and I let out a whimper. Loud enough for them to hear. They both stopped in their movements. Both looking to the wardrobe.
Eddie slowly walks to it, and slings the door open. “Delilah? What are you doing here?” Eddie asks, looking at me face, streaks of mascara rubbing down.
“I haven’t seen you all spring break, and Wayne, let me, uh in,” I just manage to get out.
“I’ve been busy, I told you.” He says, anger bubbling inside of him.
“With her! She doesn’t even fucking care about you Eddie! She’s fucking using you! And I can’t fucking believe you’re fucking cheating on me with a slut like her!” I shout, tears running down my face harder than before.
To be continued…

Chapter 2: The Plan
“Are you sure?” voiced Nino. Chloé rolled her eyes, Nino and his damn pacifism, why did he have to be the voice of reason in all of this?
“Yes I am sure,” Chloé snapped back, inspecting her nails. "They have gone too far. Lila's reign has gone on for too long, she needs to be put in her place."
"For once, I agree with Chloé," Nathaniel said, swatting Chloé’s leg away as she tried to kick him off the chaise.
"I don't know if we should guys…" Marinette stated, not moving from the hug.
"She ruined your commission sketchbook! She needs to be taken down," Kim replied, tired of dealing with Lila's bullshit.
"Maybe we should take a stance, Mari. She's been harassing you for too long," Nino said, surprising everyone else.
"You've never been one to straight up agree with our group. What's the change of heart Lahiffe?" Chloé teased him.
"I'm still a pacifist Chloé, but no one hurts my friends and gets away with it. I'm not joining in the violence, but she needs to be taken down," Nino replied sternly.
Chloé had an evil smile on her face, as she turned her body to sit instead of lounging on the chaise. She looked at everyone there, before turning her direction towards Marinette.
"Well. We just need our empress to agree," she said, a knowing grin on her face.
Marinette stayed still but soon sat up in her bed, moving away from Nino and taking the blanket off. Red, puffy eyes stared back at Chloé, evidence of the hurt she felt.
"Let’s fuck this bitch up."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the Agreste mansion, Adrien sat in his room, feeling like an utter bag of shit. His advice led to this. His advice caused more pain to Marinette than he thought was happening. Guilt had washed over the blonde, knowing that he could have done something to stop this sooner. Marinette was one of his closest friends, and he ignored her feelings for the feelings of a two faced faux.
But alongside the guilt laid anger. Lila had gone back on their promise. She hurt Marinette behind his back. She had lied once more.
It was time for that lie to be her last.
Sitting up from his self wallowing blankets and pillows, he knew he had to do something.
"Plagg, what should I do?"
Plagg looked over at his chosen, Camembert cheese still in his paws. He saw a new side to Adrien and knew it was time for a change.
"Well," he started, "you could start by apologizing."
"How would I be able to apologize for something like this? I royally screwed up," Adrien replied, falling back on his bed again.
"So ask Ladybug for advice."
Adrien sat there, contemplating Plaggs words. Ask Ladybug? She doesn't like when he talks about his personal life. However, she would be the best person to get advice from.
Deciding then, he would talk to Ladybug during their next patrol together. Thank kwami the weekend was close.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Back at the bakery, a plan was brewing. Marinette had already dried her eyes and pulled down her planner. Thankfully, she changed the planner to remove Adrien's schedule. Looking back on that she internally cringed, god she took that crush a bit far.
Chloé had Marinette's old book out, which held every information on each student in the school. Everything from their crimes, to their good deeds, were recorded, along with family social economic status and how much money was donated to the school.
Max had his laptop out, finding every information he could about Lila. Markov was over his shoulder, helping in the research. Kim was, helping? He mostly just wrote some stuff down in the notebook next to Max. He made jokes most of the time, trying to help keep up morale.
Nino was next to Nathaniel, helping create a game plan for their comeback. Everyone knew they would have to go to Aurore and Mireille to spread the word about the Royal Primaries coming back.
Marinette turned from her spot at the schedule, marker in hand after writing down some basic plans.
"Alright. I think I have an idea of how to do this."
Everyone turned their attention away from their task and focused their eyes on her. Marinette stepped to the side to reveal what she had.
The calendar showed them the rest of the month, with that rest of the week dedicated to getting everything they needed ready. Clothes had to be bought, pins had to be found and any broken repaired, and they needed to get their Royal Shades in on the business. The rest of the month was blank, besides their comeback for the next Monday.
"Any ideas for when we should do anything?" Marinette asked.
"I was thinking. We let Lila think she's safe with a faulty pin. I know Nathaniel’s family could get something made," Chloé suggested.
Nathaniel nodded in agreement, "I can see what I'll be able to do. No guarantees though."
"Alright, and I was thinking Chloé, what if we have Sabrina, Juleka, and Rose as our undercover girls? I know Sabrina is already faking, but I think we need more for backup," Marinette said while adding the pin idea to the board.
"That would increase our success rate by 36.78%. However, what if Lila sees past it?" Max added on.
"Oh please. Lila is an attention whore, having three people eat up her words will send her over the moon," Chloé sassily responded.
Max shrugged at her comment as Marinette added the secret spies to the list.
"Anything else?" She asked.
"I want to try and talk to Alya. Hopefully, get through to her about Lila," Nino said solemnly.
A silence hung in the air. Everyone knew that Alya was one of Lila's biggest followers, her blog had basically become the Lilablog instead of the Ladyblog.
"I know it may be hard," Nino started out, "but I still want to try. She's my girlfriend after all."
A silent agreement was made. Everyone knew it wouldn't end well, but it was worth a try? Maybe?
"I'll make sure that there's ice cream," Chloé said before turning her attention back to Marinette, "well?"
"We have a plan now."

Day 8 - Costume Change
Title: Back to stay
Fluff.
At first glance, it didn’t look quite right. But the more Chloé looked herself in the mirror, the more her new look grew on her.
She touched the white material adorning her neck, her wrists and her middle, lowering her gaze to check how it looked around her ankles, as well. Maybe she could ask Pollen to extend it to the totality of her boots, to see how she liked it.
Chloé stared back at herself in the mirror, turning around a few times. Then, she went for her cellphone to take a few dozen selfies. She needed her new look to look perfect. She needed to be perfect. She would not let Ladybug down, not again. A third chance rarely came by and after what Chloé had pulled (joining Lila who worked with Monarch –Ridiculous new name! As if Scarlet Moth wasn’t bad enough already- and therefore aiding in the temporary loss of most of the miraculous) it was a miracle on itself that Ladybug (or anyone, for that matter) could have even thought about her in a positive way.
But then the impossible, the unthinkable had happened. In the form of Chat Noir. In the form of a bee shaped comb. In the form of a soft glance, a strong hand on her shoulder and a quiet “Chloé Bourgeois, this is the miraculous of the bee…”
Chloé admitted, she had hugged the cat. But only because she didn’t want him to see her cry.
The change in her costume had come as a surprise even to her.
Chat had made quite a few puns about it on their way to meet Ladybug and the others, but Chloé had been too busy trying not to die of happiness to pay proper attention to the awful sense of humour the leathery hero had.
She knew she didn’t deserve good things, not after how horrible she had been. But damn her if she wasn’t going to try and earn, once and for all, her place as the hero she had always dreamt to be.
Queen Bee was back, and she was going to stay.

Loneliness isn't a new feeling to Lila, but it certainly isn't a pleasant one. The house was quiet—too quiet as she scrolled the web, wondering if her old classmates remembered her. If they bothered to reach out to her and wonder who she was doing these past few years.
She almost laughed; no one would remember her. Lila was a distant memory to the old students in Italy. None of them had even bothered to call her when she left for France.
Instead, they lied, saying that they would miss her. They spoke such pretty words that filled the brunette with hope.
Hope that overflowed and filled her veins with euphoria. Every night, Lila would wait with her phone in hand, excited for one of her so-called friends to call. If they didn't call that night, the brunette would brush it aside and hope they would call the next day. The cycle continued for months, and Lila remained hopeful. Waiting and praying that any one of her old classmates would call as promised.
What a fool she was, thinking anyone would care. Lila's mother didn't care to keep her promises. Her father didn't care to remain in her life—no, he fled like a coward instead of being a responsible parent.
Why would anyone give a damn about poor Lila Rossi, anyway? She was a boring girl. So why would anyone waste their time on her?
She wouldn't waste any more tears on those lying bastards. No use crying over spilled milk, and nothing was going to change the past. It would be funny if she could wave a magic wand, turn back the hands of time, and convince her mom to stay in Italy. But, a girl can dream, can she not?
All she wanted was a friend. Someone who would always be there for her—someone Lila could confess her deepest, darkest secrets. Someone that would laugh at her stupid jokes as they Skyped.
A friend that she could call no matter where she was. Someone who would never give up on her.
Someone would care for her, unlike her neglectful mother.
To feel someone hug her and rub her back whenever she was upset. A shoulder to cry on—a confidante.
Lila hated the empty void that ate her heart and stomach. She wanted someone to fill the growing gap. But would it be too much to ask for a true friend?
Apparently, the universe thought so.
It gave her the middle finger, laughing in Lila's face and watching her suffer. The universe lived off her pain, taking away everything and everyone she ever held dear. Nothing precious would last long with Lila.
It died and withered away like a rose in the winter. Friendships died like her love for her father and mother. It died and still sank its fangs in her chest.
So, Lila knows what it's like to be alone, and she hates it.
Tumblr media
Lila didn't even last a week in school.
So, she may have lied to boost her social standing. She was grasping at straws, and Lila couldn't help it. The words flowed from her lips like rich honey, and almost everyone ate them up without a second thought.
No, she didn't know any directors in Hollywood, and no, Jagged Stone never wrote a song about her. She didn't know any manga artists or DJs—Ladybug never saved her life. Lila was a boring girl with a boring life.
They were all lies to make herself look good, especially in front of Adrien.
But Ladybug had to ruin that. She called Lila a super-liar and embarrassed her in front of Adrien, ruining her chances of being with him. Maybe Lila did deserve to be called out for lying, but the insults weren't needed. Ladybug didn't know what it was like to be alone; all of Paris loved her, even Adrien.
Lila just wanted a crumb of what Ladybug had—of what Marinette had.
After the Volpina/Ladybug fiasco, Lila cooped herself up in her room for months, not daring to leave. She didn't want to go back to school and run into Adrien again and have to explain herself. She knew he would ask questions, ask why he lied to her about knowing Ladybug and being a superhero.
She told her mom that the school was closed because the amount of akumas Hawkmoth was sending out daily. Her mother believed her—or wasn't listening as usual. So her mother whispered another lie in her ear, promising to be back before dinner, and they would hang out this weekend.
Lila smiled, saying goodbye to her mother. She knew her mother wouldn't back before dinner, and she knew that her mother would have other plans. Oh, like hanging out with her co-workers on the weekends or deciding to work overtime at the embassy.
Anything besides taking care of her fucking daughter.
How the universe cursed her, mocking her very existence. It wasn't fair; Lila just wanted someone to love her. Her mother—her flesh and blood—couldn't take the time to act like a parent and would rather stay at the office, avoiding Lila and her duties.
She filled Lila with hope—burning, shining, radiant hope only to knock her flat on her ass. She whispered cruel lies into Lila's ear, expecting the brunette to stuck it up, and pretend she was okay. To pretend that she was the luckiest damn girl in the girl.
Yes, how fortunate was Lila to have no one who cares about her?
How blessed was she to have an absent father and deceitful mother who neglected her? A mother who did the bare minimum for her child?
Truly, Lila was lucky to be alone, forced to make up stories so her life seemed entertaining so people would like her and want to be her friend.
Forced to lie and never be her true self.
Forced to wear a mask and dance in time to the music to blend in with the crowd.
Forced to be anyone but her true self.
She didn't want to go back to school. Lila was sure everyone would have forgotten about her like always. No one texted her or called her to see if she was okay. And why would they? She wasn't anything special—just another pretty face to admire for a moment and forget the next.
The festive music blaring outside caught her sudden attention, and Lila strolled to the window. She frowned, watching the giant Ladybug balloon pass by her window along with the Queen Bee, Carapace, Rena Rouge, and Chat Noir balloons. The people in the streets screamed the heroes' names, praising them and celebrating their existence.
Thanking them for protecting them from Hawkmoth's terrorism.
Lila could feel the anger rise up, spreading across her skin as she closed the blinds. She didn't want to see that stupid bug again—Ladybug had no right embarrassing her like that in front of Adrien. Lila despised that pesky girl in red, but yet, she envied her.
Ladybug would always be remembered. No one would ever forget her. Even her worst enemies would recall her face and remember how they were defeated by Ladybug.
Getting on the computer was no better. Lila was greeted with thousands of channels praising Ladybug, thanking her and her team for their services. Gabriel Agreste has the nerve to call her—Volpina—a fake hero, an imposter.
Lila hurled her laptop at the wall in a fit of rage, and the tears rushed down her burning cheeks. Hatred and fury flowed through her veins like molten lava. She was so caught up in her fit, Lila didn't notice the butterfly until it was too late.
There he was again, offering her power. Saying he was going to give her a second chance to bring her illusions to life. Hawkmoth had a way with words, soothing and intoxicating as he promised her power and so much more.
But that mattered little to Lila.
The villain remembered Lila. Such a thought shouldn't have filled her heart with overwhelming, warm joy, but it did. Lila was filled with a strange happiness that flowed throughout her veins, a happiness that could illuminate a thousand worlds.
Someone remembered her.
Lila was so happy, she accepted Hawkmoth's deal without a second thought. She didn't care about the consequences. She gladly let the blackish-purple smog consume her and dress her in the orange spandex. The familiar power flowed through her veins, and Lila leaped out the window with a smile.
Maybe Lila wasn't alone after all. Sure, she had a terrorist who could remember her name, and didn't that count for something? Wasn't that good enough?
Tumblr media
To Lila's surprise, her classmates welcomed her back with warm arms and friendly kisses. Her heart throbbed, but deep down, Lila knew they only remembered her because she lied. She lied to boost her social standing and so she wouldn't be a distant memory in their thoughts.
Maybe the class knew she was lying and decided not to say anything about her lies, or they were incredibly gullible. Either way, no one brought it up, and Lila would bask in the attention for the moment. It would fill the hole in her chest—the cold, growing gap would be filled for a fleeting moment.
Again, the lies flowed out her mouth like smooth honey, securing a seat next to Adrien while Marinette was forced to sit in the back. Lila didn't feel too guilty, but she did feel bad for separating two friends. Not too bad, as she flirted with Adrien. She kept redirecting the conversation whenever he brought up the interaction with Ladybug.
Lila did not want to think about her right now. That was the last thing she wanted to focus on.
She wanted to stay close to Adrien; Lila didn't want to lose her relationship with him. Maybe she could convince him that Ladybug was in the wrong? Perhaps she could steer him away from the girl in red. It was worth a shot, but Lila remembered the look on his face when they met in the library. He was smitten; Lila didn't stand a chance as of now.
It didn't matter now. Lila got what she wanted, and that was a seat next to Adrien and happiness when her classmates remembered her name and greeted her with hugs. Treating her like she belonged even if she did lie (not that anyone knew that she lied beside Adrien).
Maybe the class would grow to love Lila. Maybe there was hope for her after all. Maybe, she would be able to make friends and be her true self.
Tumblr media
She noticed the burning glares from Marinette and her aggressive nature. Lila didn't know what she did wrong; she had never even interacted with this girl until today. More or else, Lila was curious about Marinette. The baker didn't fall over her words and questioned everything she had to say. Hell, even when Lila video-called her class, saying she was visiting Prince Ali in Achu to organize a unique project, Marinette tried calling her out.
Luckily, Lila hid her tracks, but it still baffled her. Marinette had no evidence that Lila was lying, yet she kept trying to expose her. Trying to destroy the very facade the brunette had built, threatening to reveal her true colors—to reveal her ugly nature.
Panic settled in Lila's chest. She couldn't lose to Marinette—one simple girl who practically had everyone in the class, besides Chloe and Sabrina, groveling at her feet. The lies weren't hurting Marinette in any way, so why did she care? Why was Marinette sticking her nose in places it didn't belong?
What kind of self-righteous brat did she think she was?
Instead, Lila forced Marinette against the wall, threatening to steal her friends away if she got in her way. Her words were cold and rolled off her tongue smoothly, enjoying the fear in Marinette''s eyes. It was just a warning—Lila couldn't have this pesky girl ruining everything she crafted.
She finally had friends and people who acknowledged her presence. Lila could enjoy warm hugs and friendly kisses, feeling the warmth spread across her chest and throughout her entire body. She didn't want to lose that incredible feeling; she couldn't.
Lila was not going to be alone again. If she had to rip Marinette apart to keep her facade intact, so be it. A small price to pay to ensure her own happiness.
She thought Marinette would be her only problem until Adrien told her to stop lying, and he would be more than happy to be her friend. Lila frowned, folding her arms across her chest. Adrien didn't understand—it's not like she wanted to lie; the words just poured out of her like smooth, rich syrup, dripping off her tongue.
He wouldn't understand the loneliness she felt. Adrien was a supermodel, and what was Lila? At the bottom of the barrel—scum in a pool of piranhas. Adrien would have to understand that Lila didn't mean to lie; she just couldn't control it, and she hated being alone. No matter what she did, Lila always ended up friendless whenever they moved. She just wanted one friend, one person to care about her and say that they'll be there for her.
Was that too much to ask for? Couldn't Adrien see that Lila was alone and didn't mean to lie? Couldn't he see the hurt that pooled in her olive-green eyes?
She stormed up the stairs, grumbling about how pesky the heroes are and how Ladybug ruined everything. Fury raged through her veins like a storm, rocking crashing inside of her, threatening to bubble over. They didn't understand her pain—they were loved and praised, and everyone would remember their names for years to come.
And what about Lila? She would die, and no one would remember that she existed. What a bleak future she led, and it terrified her. Knowing that one day, she would die and no one would know who she was. It was a sad realization that dawned on her.
Trudging down the halls, Lila noticed the black butterfly fluttering in the wind. There Hawkmoth was again; perhaps, he sensed he distressed and wanted to offer his aid once again. Offering Lila that sweet, delicious power that would fill the empty void in her heart.
She smiled, chasing the butterfly, and let it seep into her earring. The buzzing static filled her ears before she heard Hawkmoth's smooth and inviting voice. Lila offered her help, telling Hawkmoth that they had more in common than she initially thought.
He called her Chameleon. What a suiting name for a liar such as herself. Able to blend in with her surroundings to survive. Nature's biggest liar, Lila, found the title ironic, but it suited her.
Letting the black smog consume her, Lila let out a laugh, shivering with the power flowing through her veins. Finally, she wouldn't be alone anymore.
Tumblr media
Getting alone time with Adrien was easier than Lila thought. She was good at math, but she wanted to clear the air between the two. She couldn't have Adrien believing that Ladybug was right about her being a liar; she just wanted to be closer to Adrien and get to know him. It was supposed to be a harmless, white lie, but Ladybug blew it out of proportion.
Well, Lila wouldn't have to think about the annoying bug right now. She got to go inside the Agreste manor and see Adrien's home. Her heart dropped, lying to Nathalie to get inside, and she realized how lonely Adrien was.
His house was not home. It was a prison, and his father was his jailer, Gorilla the security, and Nathalie was the warden. Maybe Adrien did understand the same pain; Lila noticed the hurt flash on his face as they trudged to his room, Lila trailing after him.
Lila squeezed his hand, still wearing her facade, as Adrien tried helping her with their homework. Now, she didn't care about the work but wanted to know more about her crush. Why did he hide his feelings? Why did he lie? She could tell that Adrien was hurting just like she was.
They were one and the same, two sides of the same coin separated by a razor-thin line like hope and despair. If Adrien was her hope, then Lila was his despair. They needed each other to survive; Lila needed to balance out his despair so his hope can shine.
Maybe, she wasn't so useless. Perhaps, Father Time had a reason for her to move to Paris. Maybe, it was so she could meet other, poor unfortunate souls such as herself so they could learn how to cope with their pain.
And suddenly, Lila didn't feel so alone anymore.

Marinette Changes Schools: A funny little Lila salt prompt
So, there are a lot of ‘Marinette changes schools’ au’s and I love a whole bunch of them don't get me wrong. BUT the one thing I haven’t seen yet is Marinette changing schools not because of Lila or salt but simply because her parents are moving and they want her to attend a school close to home. So without further ado let me sell you on my little idea:
Lila has been plotting weeks worth of plans and lies, she’s thought up some sob stories about being stalked, about near death experiences, about celebrities that are like her family. She has plans for Marinette all the ways she could make the girl look bad and all the ways she could force Adrien to see her. That all goes out the window one day when she gets to school and it's a sob fest. There is a clear air of dread and dismay, the blue skies she saw on the way to school replaced with heavy storm clouds. And when she gets to class it's worse. Marinette and Alya are hugging and crying, Adrien looks like he's been shot, Nino and Kim are demanding to know ‘why’ even Chloe looks upset, her blue eyes a little glassy. Lila quickly learns why, Marinette’s parents' business is doing GREAT so great in fact that they have decided to open a second location! The twist? They also decided to move INTO the new location and with it being on the other side of Paris and her parents fears for their daughters safety that means Marinette is moving to a new school!
Now Lila doesn’t even have to school her face into a practiced expression of shock. She genuinely is shocked here she’d been planning months in advance picturing the ways she would destroy her rivals life and steal her friends! And now just like that Marinette is MOVING? Of course Lila quickly decides this is a good thing! After all if Marinette is out of the picture ruling the school will be that much easier. Sure Chloe might be queen bee but with Marinette gone people will be looking to replace her! In walks Lila Rossi, a gorgeous upstart model with a heart of gold and connections coming out of her bangs! She’d rule the school and Adrien would fall for her, then Marinette would probably come crawling back desperate for her old friends only to learn she’d snatched them all up! It was brilliant! And with Marinette gone she could probably do it in record time! So Lila covers up her smirk and says she’s devastated to hear that the twin tailed girl would be leaving and begins plotting.
In the month that follows Lila leaves Marinette alone letting her have her friends for what would be for the last time. After all if everyone still loved the designer when she left they’d be all the more eager to replace her with a new and better version. Of course just because Lila is playing nice doesn’t mean she enjoys it. Alya is practically glued to the girl and ignores Lila even when she’s not trying to sabotage Marinette. Adrien is acting like his life is ending and all anyone will talk about is Marinette. When she checks social media it's all just pictures of ‘old-great times with Marinette’ or new photos and videos of helping the girl pack up and move into her new room, which Lila seethes about for a week when she sees the photos of the spacious luxurious room with a private bath. Apparently the Dupain-Cheng’s new bakery was in a pretty ritzy rich neighborhood. During school Marinette is mobbed by a constant stream of people begging her to stay and when they accept that not happening they all at least beg her to ‘come back and visit’ Marinette promises and Lila has to hide her snort. Fat chance of that actually happening.
Finally the last day arrives and Lila has to hold back the urge to gag as everyone fills the nearby park giving Marinette gifts and heartfelt goodbyes. Adrien is the last one to offer his gift and Lila seethes as Marinette gingerly opens the box with a gasp and pulls out two brand new pink hair ribbons, and Adrien goes on to say that they’re made of imported silk! SILK, as if the little baker brat deserved silk! The whole exchange is cliche and romantic as Marinette removes her current hair ribbons to tie in the new ones and Adrien ties the old ones around his wrist like some idiot who doesn’t realize what a love struck longing look he's giving his ‘good friend’. But Lila just keeps reminding herself its just a bit longer and sure enough not long after the hideously gooey exchange between Adrien and Marinette is over the designer is leaving with more tears and farewells. FINALLY Lila thinks she can get back to what matters! Ruling her empire.
As it turns out ruling her empire is not what she thinks. For the first month after Marinette leaves all anyone will talk about is the photos she’s posted online. The first week its ALL about HER new school is a private well known academy with uniforms, and isn't Marinette cute in it? And look at her in her custom black kitty thigh highs? Lila wants to scream, but not as much as when she catches Adrien drooling over the photo of said thigh highs and twirling the old nasty hair ribbons around his wrist. The second week its all about the video tour of her new home and school that Marinette sent Alya. Lila glares the whole time as Alya puts the video on the projector at lunch so everyone can see the big new gorgeous bakery and the beautiful house on the second floor and her stupid big bedroom that should belong to someone like herself and not some bratty bakers daughter! By the third week Lila has had enough and fakes some nasty texts from Marinette hoping to speed up the process of helping her classmates move on to HERSELF. It backfires spectacularly with Alya going on the warpath to learn who would dare frame Marinette now that she’s gone. Lila is starting to realize that somehow Marinette has reached a higher level of popularity now that she’s gone. But she reminds herself it won't last forever that in ‘just a little bit longer’ everyone will forget the baker. Right?
A little bit longer. Never happens. Lila asks the girls to hang out that weekend with plans of winning them over with some juicy celeb story? Alya says they all already made plans to hope aboard the train to spend the whole weekend at Marinette’s new place! Lila tries to corner Adrien into a date after a photo shoot. He disappears and all she hears from the workers on set is that he's been looking up some new bakery on the other side of town. [Marinette is suddenly being visited by Chat Noir every other night but she figures she must have moved closer to where his civilian self lives if hes dropping by so much.] She tries to throw a party for the class? They can't. Marinette will be coming out to the park today! With her new school friends!
AH HA! Lila see’s opportunity and decides to tag along. After all if Marinette has new friends Lila can twist it! She’ll whisper about her replacing them all! Make them hate Marinette’s new friends! Fill them with jealousy till they hate Marinette! It's BRILLIANT! And, it fails in less than two minutes, with Alya learning about Aurore being a ballet dancer and the two girls bonding over their mutual love of DANCE?? How the heck was Lila supposed to know Alya had been a champion ballet dancer in her younger years! Then Nino is bonding with some kid named Allen or whatever about classical vs modern music and how to blend the two! And some kid named Claude is joking with Kim, Max, and Alix! And this is definitely not how things were supposed to go!
The worst part is Adrien, who is passive aggressively fighting for Marinette against Kagami AND Felix who are both all too eager to show how ‘close’ they’ve gotten to the baker's daughter while Adrien’s been across the city. Kagami is all to happy to show off that she ALSO bought Marinette some new silk hair ribbons [in a red shade that happens to match her fencing uniform] while Felix eagerly wisks Marinette away the moment Kagami and Adrien are distracted the two fencers find him openly flirting with an oblivious Marinette her hair down because ‘oh felix was nice enough to help me get some leaves out of my hair and said i should leave it like this!’ [while both Kagami and Adrien agree she looks beyond cute they know this means war.] Needless to say Lila didn’t realize that Marinette was that damn popular with men and woman.
The week after the meet up Lila is worn so thin she’s ready to snap. Not only did the class not get jealous but they actually became FRIENDS with all of Marinette’s new buddies and were planning many more meet ups including a paintball war over the baker girl that saturday. Adrien had taken to openly mumbling to himself about changing schools and how he ‘cant believe’ his own flesh and blood would so openly flirt with HIS very good friend! And what was with Kagami showing off how easily she can pick up and carry Marinette? And why did she invite Marinette to watch their next tournament! He needed to train, what if he lost?? In front of Marinette?! And then she thought he was too weak to keep her safe like all good friends are supposed to do! Clearly Kagami was trying to replace him as Marinette’s very good friend! Poor Nino who was sitting next to the boy had actually volunteered to switch with Lila but she came up with a lie to avoid it, she’d had enough of hearing about Marinette from Alya and Juleka and the rest of the girls, she didn’t also need to hear it from Adrien!
It all comes to a head that Saturday during the paintball tournament when Lila now at her wits end her plans out the window her schemes barely thought out hopes to find something ANYTHING to ruin Marinette’s day and reputation and everything. But Lila just so happens to get completely pelted with paintballs everytime she so much as moves and then later gets ignored when trying to wow Marinette’s new friends, and then gets called out by Felix and Kagami snaps and finally she snaps and SCREAMS and runs off and not even a dark little butterfly comes to help her ruin the perfect day. As it turns out Hawkmoth was a little preoccupied with trying to save his business after all the computers and data involved in his precise scheduling were mysteriously corrupted suddenly freeing up his son's time and schedule so he could spend more with HIS very good friend and no one else's. Kagami and Felix apparently had the same idea as when he gets to her new house their already their doing their best to get on her parents good side.
Basically just give me some comedic, fluffy, Lila salty, Marinette changes school fics. Because I love them ok.
