Bend It Like Mingyu
Pairing: Professional Soccer Player!Mingyu x reader (any pronouns)  Summary: It all started the day Mingyu ruined your picnic with his stupid soccer ball. Ever since then, he keeps showing up everywhere. Why won't he leave you alone?! Wordcount: 3.2k Content notes: extreme fluff, zero smut, Y/N's best friend is pregnant and later cares for the baby (baby is mentioned but not seen in the story) Genres/themes/appearances: enemies to lovers, super sweet and fluffy, Mingyu is very clumsy and very reliable, there's only one bed! (no smut), I am American so it is called soccer in the fic
"Watch out!"
You looked up in alarm at the man's shouts, and not a moment too soon. A black and white ball was flying through the air aimed directly at your patch of sunshine.
Reflexes kicking into action, you tossed your book aside and scrambled backwards just in time. The ball landed exactly where you had been sprawled across a blanket rereading your favorite book for the 26th time.
You stood up and shook yourself off angrily, stalking over to where the book landed when you unceremoniously threw it from your hand. In your peripheral vision you noticed a man coming your way and you ignored him to let your rage build while you gathered your things to leave. He had officially killed the mood.
"I am so sorry!" a man's voice exclaimed from a few feet away. You spun on your heel, ready to unleash your anger, but instead you found yourself speechless as you gazed at the most beautiful man you had ever seen. The sunlight was shimmering all around him.
Wait, no, the sunlight was reflecting off the sheen of sweat covering his bare arms and legs, visible beyond his loose tank and rather short shorts. He pushed his longish hair back from where it had covered his eyes. Your eyes tracked his hand as it moved.
You felt yourself start to lick your lips but you caught yourself. That's right, you were mad at this man! How dare he come to a public park and ruin a perfectly good day with an errant kick! Doesn't he know how to handle the ball?
"I'm really sorry," he apologized again.
You glared at him. For some reason your brain was having trouble forming a response. "Just try not to do that again," you said coldly before turning away to pick up your things.
"What did you end up doing yesterday?" your best friend Hani asked, taking a big sip of lemonade. She was craving a lot of lemonade these days.
"I went to the park," you replied, "but this annoying guy kicked a soccer ball right at me and totally ruined my vibe."
"That's so rude!"
"Thank you! That's what I thought!"
"Did he say anything?"
"He apologized. I think he was trying to say more but I just left."
Your friend laughed. "When we were seven years old you would have thrown a rock at him even if he apologized."
"You know what this is? Growth."
As you both giggled, you scanned the room with your eyes. Hani and her husband were hosting their baby shower, and all the friends and family crowding their house looked nearly as happy as the parents to be. You turned to look in the other direction and your jaw dropped.
"What is he doing here?!" you asked in shock.
Hani turned to look and a huge grin spread across her face. "Oh, it's Mingyu!" She waved enthusiastically and the man smiled as he walked toward them. Then he seemed to take in the person beside Hani… and he did a double take. You could only stare.
"That's right! You two haven't met!" Hani realized as she gave Mingyu as much of a hug as she could, given her belly. "Y/N, this is Mingyu. Mingyu, this is Y/N, my best friend who you have heard so many good things about!"
She turned to look at you. "Mingyu is a professional soccer player, but he's been playing overseas for a few years. He just got traded to the team here in the city though! We're so excited to have him here," Hani added, giving him another hug. Who on earth was this man, and why was Hani so obsessed with him?! She was supposed to hate him in solidarity with you!
Fortunately, all that came out was "Professional soccer player?" in quite possibly the most skeptical voice you had used in your entire life.
Mingyu at least had the decency to look sheepish. "It's true, you can look me up online!" he said defensively. Then he switched back to that infuriatingly warm smile. Two little canines popped out as he grinned. Ugh.
[Unknown Number] Y/N are you on the way to the hospital? [Y/N] who is this? [Unknown Number] Kim Mingyu [Unknown Number] Hani gave me your number in case of an emergency [Unknown Number] I guess that's what this is!
You scrunched your nose in annoyance. What was Hani doing giving your number to strange men?
You sighed and looked out the window of the taxi. You had to admit he wasn't a random man. He had really stepped up and helped out Hani and her husband over the last few months, even taking Hani to a few unexpected doctors appointments that her husband and you couldn't help with. You and her husband both worked on the other side of a bridge that was currently under construction, and traffic was getting crazier every day on the way back to the neighborhood where you all lived. Eventually he had started working from home because it was getting too close to Hani's due date.
(By then, she was complaining to you every day that she felt like her baby might actually be a baby elephant. You didn't really think that part was a problem because baby elephants are super cute.)
Your phone buzzed again.
[Unknown Number] I'm waiting for you in the main lobby [Unknown Number] We can go up together when you arrive
You never even said if you were on your way to the hospital! You sighed. Ok, fine, he knew you were probably on the way to the hospital. Hani had texted you that they were on their way, and that she was turning her phone on do not disturb because she didn't want it to distract her. As soon as you saw the message, you got in a cab.
[Y/N] ok
Mingyu found you as soon as you walked in the hospital, just as he promised. He led you to the waiting room. You set down your things and stared at the chairs as if waiting for them to tell you what to do.
Mingyu interrupted your racing thoughts. "Should we sit down? Do you want a bottle of water? I have a couple here." He unzipped a gym bag, and you registered that he must have come directly from the gym because he was in loose sweatpants and a plain tee with a sheen of sweat giving him what could only be described as a beautiful natural glow. How unfair. When you went to the gym you did not look glowy.
He handed you a bottle of water and sat down opposite you, motioning with his hand that you should sit too. You did, opening the water and taking a sip for something to do.
For the next while, Mingyu kept up a mostly one sided conversation about a variety of topics you didn't follow at all. Your mind was on your friend.
"Are you okay?" Mingyu asked with concern.
You looked over at him. You didn't have any fight left in you. "I'm really nervous."
"I understand." He came to sit beside you. "My sister had a baby a few years ago. I was a nervous wreck. My mom had to hold my hand and calm me down!" He laughed a little, then he became serious again. "Is it okay if I hold your hand? It really helped me."
You gave him a small nod and he took your hand. Against all odds, his grip really was comforting. Then again, you had gotten to know him better over the last few months, and he seemed like a genuinely good guy who cared a lot for Hani and her husband and the baby.
He felt you leaning towards him, and he released your hand so he could wrap his arm around your shoulders and pull you against him. He moved his other hand to yours and squeezed. You felt yourself tearing up and closed your eyes. Suddenly you were relieved this man you barely heard about until recently was sitting next to you.
"Finally, we can have some adult time!" Hani whispered loudly as she shut the bedroom door and tiptoed towards you.
You and Mingyu shared a look on the couch. Hani had always been dramatic and theatrical, even as a kid, but she seemed sillier than ever to you now that she was supposedly a mature mother to an infant. Her husband finished washing dishes and joined her on the other couch.
The four of you agreed to put on a reality dating show with a ridiculous premise that kept going viral on social media. Might as well find out what the fuss was about! It was definitely entertaining, but before the second episode ended you drifted off and fell asleep.
When you woke up, you were lying down on the couch with your head on one of the fluffy pillows and a blanket draped across your body. You twisted to get comfortable and fall asleep again… and that's when you realized the pillow was in Mingyu's lap, and he was fast asleep with his head leaning back on the couch.
Doing your best not to wake him, you flew off the couch and grabbed your phone from the table. There was no way you could show your face in the morning knowing where you had just been. It was better not to think about it too much.
"Y/N!!" came a frantic whisper from behind you. You stopped and turned as Hani approached.
"Why are you up? Are you okay?" you asked, trying to change the subject before it was even broached.
"I was up to feed the baby. Every two hours, remember? Anyway, that's not the point. What is going on between you and Mingyu?!" she asked excitedly.
"Nothing! We just fell asleep. It was a long week."
"Fine. I believe you. But things seem different between you."
You couldn't help yourself. "How so?" you asked. The truth was, you felt like things were a little different, too. You and Mingyu had started texting after the baby was born, and sometimes you carpooled to hang out with Hani and her husband for a bit before they got tired. (Luckily you didn't carpool today.)
The four of you had developed a special dynamic, but you would be lying if you said you didn't look forward to those car rides with Mingyu. Sometimes the two of you picked up takeout before going to see your friends, which meant spending twice as much time together as he picked you up from work or home before driving to a restaurant and Hani's place, then he drove you home afterwards. And sometimes you sat in the car chatting with him for quite a while instead of saying a simple goodbye and leaving.
"You and Mingyu seem like a good match for each other. I'm just saying… think about it. He's a great guy."
"I'll think about it," you replied, as if you weren't already going out of your mind wondering what he thought of you and if he thought things were different between you two and if he maybe just maybe was interested in spending some time with you on purpose instead of under the guise of hanging out with your friends during the precious 45 min after the baby falls asleep before the parents fell asleep too.
A few weeks after that conversation, you found yourself on the couch with Mingyu again as Hani and her husband checked on the baby. When Hani came out she spoke to the two of you.
"Do you two want to use the guest room tonight? It's so rainy and I don't want you to drive in this weather. There's clean sheets on the bed and towels in the bathroom closet, and it's a king size bed so you won't even notice each other!"
It would be a miracle if you were in bed with Kim Mingyu and didn't notice him. That was simply impossible.
Before you had a chance to say anything, Mingyu spoke up. "Sure. Thanks, Hani."
"Excellent! We'll make you a big birthday breakfast, Mingyu!" Hani disappeared, claiming she was getting clothes for you and Mingyu to sleep in.
You looked at Mingyu in surprise, barely able to process the exchange. "It's your birthday tomorrow?"
"Yes," Mingyu admitted. "I've always been overseas so I didn't get to celebrate with anyone besides the team."
"We'll do something special for you," you said without thinking. Mingyu locked eyes with you, and his gaze felt heavy. It occurred to you that the two of you were about to share a not nearly large enough bed.
"Here you go!" Hani interrupted, dumping a pile of clothes into your arms. "Goodnight!"
"Goodnight, Hani!" Mingyu said to her as she spun away with a mischievous glint in her eye. It was a good thing he had all his faculties available because you definitely did not. He led the way to the guest room, a room you had both clearly used many times, separately, but this was definitely going to be so different. You both knew where the spare toothbrushes were, and he offered the bathroom to you first.
After you switched places between the bathroom and the bedroom, you slid into the side of the bed that didn't have his water bottle beside it. This was unreal. Now you know which side of the bed he preferred. It was the opposite of the side you liked. You prayed that the king size bed really was big enough not to notice him.
"Can I turn off the light?" Mingyu asked a few minutes later. He was in just a pair of gym shorts. You nodded in response. Your mouth had gone dry after seeing his bare chest, and arms, and stomach, and neck, and…
Mingyu slipped into the bed quietly and you heard him put his phone on the bedside table. You had turned on your side to face away from him. Out of sight, out of mind. Hopefully that strategy worked on his body. You thought of something else that could be on his body. (You.)
"Do you remember that day in the park?" Mingyu asked suddenly.
You were so surprised to hear this that you turned toward him and opened your eyes in the dark. The two of you had never acknowledged the fact that you actually met one day before Hani introduced you to him.
"Of course I do," you replied. "Why?"
"I actually kicked my ball toward you on purpose," he admitted.
"WHAT!?" you exclaimed.
"Shh!" Mingyu whispered, and you felt his hand cover your mouth for a moment. Your breath caught in your throat until you were recovered enough to speak
"I was so annoyed that day," you said, but more quietly. "That's why I was so stunned to learn you played professionally!"
"I meant to kick it to land near you, so I could strike up a conversation. A butterfly flew in front of my face while I was running up to the ball and it threw me off."
You giggled. You could picture his focused face converting to his excited face after he saw the butterfly, then it probably transformed to a look of fear after he realized the ball was not going to facilitate a meet cute.
Before you could comment, he went on. "You were so pretty that day, and I really wanted to know what you were reading that made you look so happy." He paused and you replayed his words in your mind.
"I think you're pretty every time I see you," he added. "And when I don't see you."
"Oh," you responded quietly. Even though this was a conversation you had been hoping for, it still caught you completely by surprise. Your mind was reeling.
"Could you tell me what you're thinking?" he asked. He sounded very close to you all of a sudden, but you didn't realize he had moved. He was speaking more softly than you had ever heard him.
"Me too," you said, which technically didn't make any sense at all given what he had revealed and what he just asked. He seemed to understand your meaning because he gathered you in his arms and gave you the sweetest, softest kiss. Then he turned to face away from you and drew your arm around him. You automatically tucked in close, against his back.
"Happy birthday," you whispered.
"Thank you," he replied, pulling your hand to rest on his heart.

more jason and science experiment please <3
Jason kept his distance, creeping as quietly through the woods as he could. Watching Dick's headlamp bob along. He didn't seem to be in a hurry. Nothing seemed to be urgent, not really. It was pretty warm still, so. Even if you were out here somewhere you probably weren't gonna freeze to death or anything.
Still.
It was far off the marked trails. So far the groundskeepers probably hadn't been back here for decades, if ever. Old growth, fallen logs, slick rocks- it would take sure footing to get back here. Miles out from anything in any direction.
And when Dick finally stopped Jason crept slowly closer. "You lost it good this time, huh?" Dick said, whistling as he ducked under a low branch.
Jason stayed near the shadows close to the clearing and peered between the trees. A small fire was dying; its embers cast shimmering light in the pitch black. He couldn't tell if the bark had been torn off the trees or not. But your hand that dangled limply from the hammock was cut, bruised, and bloody. In the light from Dick's headlamp, it looked like a struggle happened. But. Dick didn't seem concerned.
"Stop being creepy and come help," Dick said, kicking dirt over the last embers and jerking his head to your pack.
"What happened?" Jason asked, glancing around, the back of his neck pricking. He glanced down at you. You're so still. So fucking still and Dick's folded your arm's over your chest to be able to pick you up. You look like a corpse. But he can see the dirt under your nails and on your face. Tear tracks and snot that left smears of mud behind in your hair and on your clothes as you tried to wipe it away.
"Sometimes the only way for her to stay in control is to lose control for a while," Dick said sadly and petting your hair. "You're okay, We're just going to take you up to your room, 'kay? It's supposed to storm or we'd just leave you be."
"It's no-"
Dick shot Jason a look. They were never sure what you understood or remembered. But. He felt bad just invading your little sanctuary.
"Can you carry her?" Dick asked, shoving your blanket and your shoes in your bag with the snacks you didn't eat and looking around for the water bottle. "I can get us back faster. I dunno how she does it."
Jason nodded mutely and picked you up carefully. Making sure your head is supported on his shoulder, "Sorry about this," he said quietly. "Your hands look like they hurt." And when you shift in your sleep, he swallowed hard. Trying to focus on the smell of the woods and think about anything other than how eerie it was to think about you tearing yourself apart in the woods. He already woke you up once today. He didn't think he'd get away with it a second time.

Good Evening and Happy Tuesday. Ahhh we’ve reached glorious s4 aka the season where Tim and Lucy emotionally date each other while they’re in relationships without realizing it LOL The amount of emotional intimacy we get in this season is unreal. We get more growth for them both personally and professionally. Also the insane amount of work flirts is crazy but amazing. I love this season so much. Let’s get going with the premiere.
4x01 Life and Death
Tumblr media
When we last left our gang Angela was abducted from her wedding. We start the ep out with an intense OP in progress. Tim asking Wade if they have permission to enter? Grey has a flashback to Angela’s original disappearance before he answers. We hear Lucy saying Jackson is gone along with Angela. We end up in Grey’s office with a gruesome video of their abduction.
We watch as Angela is loaded into a van and Jackson is taken as well. It’s then we see Jackson fight back but he is shot and killed immediately. Loaded into the trunk like cargo. It's horrifying to witness tbh. Watching everyone’s reactions is crushing. They’re all in shock at what they’ve just seen. Can’t believe it’s happened. Lucy’s kills me the most. Harper and Tim are shell shocked. Nolan is a statue. Grey looking as devastated as I’ve ever seen him.
What was supposed to be this momentous and happy occasion is anything but. Lucy just lost her best friend in the blink of an eye. Hurts to watch. All of them are stunned into silence. I remember watching the premiere thinking no way they just killed Jackson right? He must be ok....Just wounded..... Unfortunately that is not the case. We lose him to La Fiera’s senseless violence. I rewound the scene to make sure. I was so stunned I couldn't grasp it. Ugh. It's such a heartbreaking way to start the season off.
Tumblr media
Grey comes back to the present and confirms Jackson been killed when replying to the Tactical Leader. The leader saying they need more time before they breach. Grey lets him know been 3 hours since Jackson was killed and Angela was taken. He wants his people to go in he can't wait. Tells Tim and the others to breach now. They’re searching the warehouse where they tracked the car that took her. They make it inside and see the car is empty. Lopez’s wedding dress on the ground.
Lucy goes to grab it when Nolan stops her. Says there’s a trip wire and it leads or C4 under the car. They head back out and request the bomb squad. Saying they can’t track the next vehicle till the scene is clear. As they’re leaving Nolan spots the dirt road outside it. Actually has useful information for once saying they took a plane not a car….
Tumblr media
We return to Lucy with Nolan at the station. She’s currently beating herself up for not catching that trip wire. You just lost your best friend love. It’s ok to be a little unfocused. Lucy is breaking my damn heart. Anytime she cries it just hurts to watch. Melissa crushing it over here. The way she loses it over talking about Jackson hurts my soul. She’s wearing her medal he gave her too. Killing me softly with the details. I want to hug her but Tim will cover that for me shortly.
She asks if Nolan if he really thinks Lopez is alive? He says yes. Harper and Tim enter asking why he thinks that? They all start theorizing why she took Angela and where. Tim tells them they have to look at it with cop eyes not personal ones. Lucy brings up the baby. How they bonded over motherhood. That psychologically she could see how Angela betrayed that bond when Diego died. The best revenge would be to take her baby..So dark and twisted.
Grey comes in and tells them the DEA isn’t going to help them due to politics. That being the short answer. Really just red tape BS. Their main focus is finding Jackson’s killer which will hopefully give them a beat on Angela. They figure out Jackson scratched his killer as his final act. Knew he was going to die so he took his DNA with him. They’re rushing results to find out who and that he’s hopefully in the system. He went out like a bad ass doing that gotta say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grey tells them all to get some rest if they can. I love her letting Nolan pass by her first. Hanging back for Tim. Needing to show her deepest vulnerabilities with him only. Craving his comfort and a deeper convo with her person. Her and Nolan had a surface talk earlier. What she needs is so much more than that right now. So she naturally turns to Tim. Waits for them to be alone before spilling her emotional guts completely.
First off let me say I love the height difference shot here. Feel like we haven’t had a significant one in a hot minute. I’ll always love the tall/smol between them. Gives me ship tinglies in a way I can not put into words. Hehe Also what seems like intentional distance between them during this scene. Because we know what’s coming in their next one. Zero space between them.
Lucy confiding in Tim how she can’t go back to her apt right now. To his empty room...it’s far too much for her at the moment. Tim instantly offers up his place to her. Saying she shouldn’t have to. No hesitation whatsoever offering up solace with him. That part of himself he can’t explain with her taking the wheel in this moment. All he knows is she’s hurting and he wants to help her hurt less. It’s an innate reaction of his to protect her emotionally. Even when he doesn’t understand it. It’s that instinct that drives this decision.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucy being Lucy doesn’t want to impose on him. Even when she’s intensely grieving she’s thinking of others. Thing is she is anything but an imposition to Tim. Never has been never will be. He reinforces his offer telling her she shouldn’t be alone right now. Tim isn't taking no for an answer. He see's she is hurting and vulnerable so he wants to protect that. Protect her.
No way he was he going to relax or get sleep of any kind knowing how upset she was. Lucy caves and accepts his sweet offer. Too tired and emotionally drained to fight him any further on it. Tells him Thanks and Tim is brief in his reply. 'Yeah.' Just wanting to get her out of the station to decompress. Get her away from anything that will remind her of Jackson right now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next is the moment that is burned into all of our memories. So many facets of this moment to dissect. It’s glorious. Tim being chivalrous takes the couch. Or tries to at least. Lucy won’t allow it at all. Tim says he can’t let a guest sleep on the couch. They battle a little and Lucy wins. (Cause Wifey usually wins ha) Tim gets up and you can tell he wants to do more for her. Erase her pain or comfort her more. He just isn't sure how...
He asks her if she needs anything? Lucy almost replicating her reply in 2x12 about time travel. Tim once again wishing he had the ability to reverse time for her. If he could engineer a time machine just to take her hurt away it would be built already. No doubt in my mind he would move heaven and earth to make that happen. Instead he replies he unfortunately doesn’t have that power. So Lucy asks for something he most definitely can give. A hug. Love her being this vulnerable and asking him for what she really needs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then comes this beautifully intimate hug. It’s the way he pulls her in as she’s falling apart. She is clinging to Tim like he’s the only thing that will keep her together. (Good shot of that ring too..pretty sure that’s intentional) How she folds into arms effortlessly and buries herself in his chest. Like she was always meant to fit there. A puzzle piece fitting perfectly into place.
How gently he cradles her head. So delicate with his hand. It's so tender and affectionate. Encasing her in his arms fully. Space is not a word they know in this moment. It's like he’s trying to shield her from her pain by enveloping her completely. Strokes her hair in a very intimate manner. While she is clinging to him for dear life. Their chemistry is explosive in just the hug alone. I'm getting overwhelmed with feels just writing about this. The way he pulls away is very telling. It’s not just an instant break from their hug.
Tim lingers in his proximity to her. You can see it in the 4th gif above. Running his hands down her arms very slowly. Like he’s trying to extend his time touching her. Waiting to the very last inch to let go. Even when he runs out of real estate he gives her a little affectionate squeeze. Lucy isn’t adding to their distance either. Her head still very close to his chest when they part ways from this hug. She looks like she isn't ready for it to end. Her body still instinctively leaning toward his.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tim still hasn’t stopped touching her yet. Look at that first gif. He’s still rubbing her other arm as he gazes down at her. The vulnerable way Lucy is looking up at him. *oh my lord* Still leaning into his touch. Into him. The intense shared glances they have here is electric. Lightning in a bottle chemistry goodness is what this is. I remember first time I watched this I felt like my skin was tingling with excitement. Couldn’t believe they were staring at each other like this. How they looked liked they could possibly kiss. I held my breath.
It’s that magnetic pull of theirs. They’re drawn to one another in general. This is the first time they’ve been this close to each other. Probably since the 2x11 moment where he cradled her. But this is much much different. Tim is the one to break it off before they lean into each other any further. I think he knows what will happen if he doesn’t stop this. Tim being the honorable man he is won’t take advantage of her in this state.
I also think this is Tim's ‘Uh Oh’ moment with Lucy. Man isn’t aware of his feelings just yet (ain’t even close to being ready for that) but he is VERY aware of his attraction in this moment. He can't fight the fact he is attracted to Lucy anymore. That much is obvious with this entire hug and his touches. He just showed his hand to her. One he had so tightly guarded to his chest for so long. So he cuts it off before it can develop into something more. Is the one with more self control by telling her good night. Lucy's face after he’s walked away looks like she just had an epiphany. Like ‘Oh shit I’m in love with Tim Bradford..’ Melissa’s face says it all for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It falls in line with the she fell first he fell harder scenario. It’s then we see them both trying to come down from their emotional high. The adrenaline of being that close to one another. What almost happened. This moment reminds me of one of my all time fav Caskett moments. Castle watches Beckett go to her hotel room after a similar almost kissed moment. He stares at the closed door and you see Beckett fighting with herself on the other side. Debating to open the door. By the time she gets the guts to open it Castle is long gone into his room.
The way they both stare in the others direction with intense longing. *heart damn clutch* Tim can’t get settled and neither can Lucy. Both trying to process the intense moment they just had. She looks like she’s having an internal battle with herself above. We say Lucy breaks Tim brain a lot and she does. But in this moment Tim has broken her's and she is having an internal struggle after they part.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now Lucy is the one who decides to go for it. Can’t take sitting in her thoughts any longer. Stares at his bedroom door and gets up. She instantly retreats when she hears him come back into the room. Scurrying back to the couch so Tim doesn’t know what her plans were. Tim telling her Wesley knows where Angela is. The mood shifting completely.
Makes you wonder what her plans were had Tim not gotten that call. Was she going to knock on his door? Just give him a look and they would give into their emotions? I mean she must’ve had a plan of some sort. Possibly relying on that silent communication of theirs to say everything for her? The UST in this moment is off the charts. It’s the first time either of them are truly aware of the sexual tension between them. It really hit Lucy hard with her wanting to act on it.
I’ll always be happy with the way they got together. I adore the canon version. Them getting together in this moment would’ve been very messy. But I adore the tease we got to start the season for them. Was a very promising sign. I remember thinking damn this season gonna be amazing. It felt like it was their pre-get together season. And it was exactly that. Also I'll never be over the fact she’s in his clothes and wearing them damn well might I add. I am dead this scene so so good haha
Tumblr media
Everyone arrives at Tim’s place for next steps. Also is no one going to question why Lucy is already there? No? ok...LOL This is totally normal. What I love most about this next section is how in-sync they are. Just a matching power couple in black. Also cross armed Tim mmm my fav. Sexy forearm time look at those puppies. Mm love to lick those like a lollipop. Yum. Also the intense amount of heart eyes Lucy is throwing him in this scene. Girl you have an audience put those away LMAO Clearly has not come down from her hug high. If Tim looked her way in that moment he would've been speechless with their intensity.
Wesley is telling them Angela is at a compound in Guatemala. That he’s going to get her back but he needs some help. Everyone jumps in and Grey stops them. Saying only people truly qualified for this is Harper and Tim. (Why Nolan gets to be apart of their OP based on that logic idk LOL) Nolan does bring up the good point about Max from 2x14. The counterfeiting case they had where they let his team go in exchange for their killer.
Tim explaining to Grey his unit runs covert operations all over the world. He could get them in undetected. He owes them for not putting his sins on blast. He would give them tactical support on the ground as well. Lucy is gonna hang back with Grey per his decision to help on Jackson’s murder case. While Nolan will fold in with Tim and Nyla to contact Max and get their mission going.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They land and their original plan doesn’t pan out. It was to get in covertly through the blueprints Nolan steals. Unfortunately Plan A is squashed due their covert entrance having a steel gate installed. Covering up the only weak spot for the house making the blueprints useless. Tim also brings up if they’ve added this gate who knows what else they’ve added inside? Says they have to go to Plan B which Nolan and Harper bitch to him about lol
Tim is the ONLY ONE with military experience. He knows how to quickly adapt in a hostile environment especially when a plan goes to shit. Even though its super risky it's their best option. Nolan I expect the whining from. Harper should appreciate this since she was a UC. Yeah its not ideal but bitching at him doesn't make it better. It's only ok when Lucy does it haha
I do love this scene above so much it’s underrated IMO. Lucy telling him she doesn’t like Plan B is too funny. He looks so damn exasperated by her dislike of the plan. Harper and Nolan turning around is too funny I have to say. Like we told you she wouldn’t like this plan....When really it’s just her worry coming through in spades. Her person is in potential danger and she doesn’t get to have his back. Lucy is very far away and her worry is very evident. The secondary plan puts him in more danger. Danger she can't control that from another country. So she is a little anxious. Poor thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Side note before we delve into the moment above. Military Tim is a flavor I like very much. Look at him. How does this man make such an ordinary outfit sexy as hell? He’s wearing the hell out of that t-shirt Ovary explosion on-top of his sexy biceps popping out of it. *fans self* Also its not shown here but his belt hanging over the edge of his pants. Wish I could've fit more gifs of Military Tim. I'm bummed I could not haha (shakes fist at tumblr's gif limit) Anyways It’s like he wants me to implode from the thirst trap that he is. Plus the 5’clock shadow lining that sexy jawline. Have mercy.
Anyways another underrated moment in this episode is Lucy telling him to be careful. It’s such a loaded moment. Look at the way she is anxiously shifting around. You can see Lucy is bouncing her knees up and down trying to get her nerves out. She not even close to processing losing Jackson right now. She can’t fathom losing her person too. Lucy needs to let him know to be careful and she’s worried. That she cares. Lucy is so very stressed for Tim. It's driving her insane she doesn’t have his back in this moment.
If Harper wasn’t there I’m sure his answer would’ve been a little different. More sincere and soft. Since Harper is Tim is doing his macho confidence thing to keep her from worrying instead. Tim is also confident in this plan even if it’s more complicated. More shock and awe. As he says. Sending Angela into pre-mature labor then intercepting her at the hospital with the antidote. Which they do pretty flawlessly. Angela dispatching of La Fiera while pregnant was pretty damn bad ass before getting away. Also I love them all pulling a gun on Max to pick up Wesley/Nolan HA Wesley and Angela's reunion in the helicopter is super sweet I love them ❤️
Tumblr media
Fast forwarding 3 months to her having the baby, them all healing a bit more after Jackson’s death was a good call. Angela and Wes arrive home to a welcome home party. Lucy could not be cuter with her excitement over her baby basket. She made her all these organic and homeopathic cookies. Once Lucy departs Harper tells her not eat the cookies LMFAO But it was something positive for Lucy to focus on. It made her happy to assemble it for Angela. So sweet.
The episode ends with Angela talking to Jackson’s gravestone. Ugh my heart. Her updating him on everything. Saying she hopes by the time her leave is over she can face the station without him there. Killing me Angela. I love them naming their kid after him. Gut punch to the feels. Ep starts with a gut punch and ends with one. Hell of a start to an incredible season.
Side notes- non chenford
I love when Grey says he’s feeling biblical about losing Jackson. We all were Wade. So upsetting…
The intro of Elijah. He’s a solid baddie I enjoy his SL with Wesley. The things we do for those we love. Actor is solid af cause I hate him so much haha doing his job well.
Also in that post hug scene I love that Tim has a photo of Kojo on his bedside table I love this man sfm.
It is very kind of Grey to remind Nolan he’s done as a rookie. Everyone in the room is happy he’s a P2. He’s a putz but a somewhat likable one haha
I love the portion with Grey and Lucy. They got a hit on the DNA. They’re riding together to get this little shit. Lucy is still rattled and Wade tries to help her get past it. What’s great is he starts out as the one telling her she has to be professional, do her job everyone is depending on her too.
Especially Jackson’s family. Then he has a crisis of conscious right before he arrests him. His speech to that kid hurts to listen to. ‘A young man so full of life. Hurts my soul to think of him in that dark room on that cold table’ oof.
I will give it to Nolan him saving Wesley was pretty awesome. That’s his one compliment this season from me haha
Thank you as always to this incredible fandom, you amazing supporters who like, comment and reblog. Means everything. Shall see you all in 4x02 :)

OMGGGGGG PLEASE WRITE NAOMI MEETING NANAMI!!!!
Heya anon!
No need to tell me twice!! I hope you enjoy this little piece of fluff I wrote about Nanami meeting Naomi :> or his general thoughts about the whole ordeal.
warnings: none. fluff. nanami worries for you, as always.
Happy reading!
Tumblr media
Nanami guessed right when saying he wouldn’t be able to keep track of you after the wedding.
As soon as you went onto your honeymoon, you’ve completely disappeared from the world. Asides from the few rumors here and there of the places yournow husband had taken you to celebrate this union… he didn’t hear anything from you.
And that, alongside his new civilian job, Kento didn’t have much time to personally inquiry with your family (or you directly for that matter) about your whereabouts.
But, well, even after all this, he still supposes you’ve been doing well. After all, bad news always spread like wildfire, and if something of that nature happened, he has no doubt he would’ve known by now.
Still, would it be too much to ask of the universe to have good news work the same way?
Probably.
For now, he’ll do with what he heard, which unfortunately, didn’t pertain to you in its majority.
Apparently Naoya had been promoted to 1st grade. Good for him and his thriving career, which he assumes just got busier and busier.
What about you, though? What have you been up to these days? Last thing he knew about your career was that you were planning on retiring to focus on your new life as Naoya’s wife—but what exactly did that entail? And did you end up doing so?
He’ll find the answer soon enough, on one of his unwanted visits to his alma mater.
Nanami never thought he’d be back in this place ever again, certainly not with the way he openly denounced his relationship with the community and made a run for it.
But, as much as he would’ve loved to leave everything behind and dive into his new life, his previous one would always find its way back to him one way or the other, today, it was through some unfinished paperwork he urgently needed to deal with if he was to be promoted into a higher position.
As he walked through the once familiar campus grounds, Nanami toyed with the idea that this was perhaps the higher up’s attempt to rope him back into sorcery work.
It has to be—because there’s no way a school that prided themselves to be amongst the best equipped and prepared in the community could’ve messed up something as silly as missing a copy of his birth certificate; rendering him unable to get his diploma, and thus, impeding his growth on the professional field.
Or maybe they were, and at that point, there’s nothing he can do but give them the benefit of the doubt and go fix whatever issues they’ve unwittingly entangled themselves in, all while hoping he wouldn’t bump into any familiar faces, for he didn’t particularly feel in the mood to entertain either his old classmates, or teachers.
And talking about teachers… Nanami still can’t believe Gojo had decided to become one.
Of all the people the faculty could’ve chosen to guide the next generation, they went with the most irresponsible, arrogant, selfish, childish, immature one they could find.
He hates to think that was the best option, before agreeing that if you had continued to pursue your dream of becoming a teacher, you would’ve been an excellent one, far more than Satoru. Maybe.
Either way, Nanami still hoped for a lot of things.
Hoped that he wouldn’t meet familiar faces.
Hoped that he would be able to fix his mundane issue as quickly as possible…
And hoped that he wouldn’t find much traffic on his way back home.
But if there’s one thing he did not expect—nor thought it possible, not even in the most audacious realms of his imagination…
Was to see you again, here, today.
“Y/N?” He breathes. The sight of you might’ve been from a distant perspective, and not exactly from the best angle either, but even then, he was still able to recognize the figure of one of his closest friends during his time as a student.
And after a few more seconds of careful observation, he comes to the accurate conclusion that it was you, right there, before him—as if pulled right out of the confines of his thoughts!
Without time to waste, combined with his excitement of seeing you again after months of absence, Nanami swiftly rushes to your side, stopping just by the entrance of one of the many administrative offices, giving him the impression you were there for the same motive as him (perhaps the faculty was incompetent after all.) if not more.
Although with an additional companion, carefully strapped to your chest…
“Huh? Wha—Kento?!” You gasp, initially distraught by the noise of footsteps rapidly approaching your direction, only to relax when seeing it was your long-lost friend in the flesh! A sight that felt like a breath of fresh air against what was an uneventfully boring day up to that point. “Is that really you, Kento? I can’t—I can’t believe it!”
“I can say the same thing.” He responds, the corners of his lips slightly tugging upwards. “It’s nice to see you again, Y/N.”
“Oh, I missed you so much!” You bubbled, hurrying to hug him—until the reason of your prolonged absence, and now the happiness of your everyday life, stops you from it with a soft coo. As if suddenly remembering she was there, you mouth a small oh before giggling, excitedly looking up to him again. “Well, now you know what kept me so busy this past year!”
The reason why you hadn’t been able to contact him as frequently as you’ve done in the past presented itself as clear as day, dressed up in their cozy pink onesie and a knitted warm hat: a baby.
You and Naoya had become parents.
Consider him surprised.
But not because the two had a family—no, it was well-known that this is what you wanted—but rather… because it happened so soon after the wedding. It suddenly made sense why both were so eager to get married.
“I suppose introductions are overdue.” You say, a smile on your face as you look down to your baby, giving her a kiss on the top of her head before gesturing her to look over to Nanami—her golden eyes quickly following your lead. “Kento, this is my daughter, Naomi. Naomi, this is one of my best friends, Kento.”
He hesitates for a moment when it comes to responding, still taken aback by the presence of this small child… but after a few seconds of coming to terms with his thoughts, he takes a step closer to her, lowering to her level before giving her a soft smile.
“Nice to meet you, Naomi.” He greets, reaching for her small hand and greeting her. “I hope you’ve been good to your mom.”
The baby girl stares at him with such an intense curious look that makes Nanami wonder if perhaps he had something in his face, or if he should’ve been a bit tenderer in his approach… before his thoughts are abruptly interrupted by her suddenly turning her head back to you, resting against your chest and promptly hiding from him.
Almost as if she were… embarrassed.
Cute» Nanami thinks, and you chuckle, finding her actions equally adorable—as you always did whenever she did as much as breathe— before leaning down to kiss her head once more and place your hand on her back, gently comforting her.
“I’m sorry about that, she’s quite shy with new people” you explain. “But once she’s used to you, she’s nothing but clingy.”
“That’s ok.” Nanami responds, currently far more amused with the fact that everything about her screamed she was Naoya’s daughter—from the small batch of dark hair seen underneath her warm hat, her golden big round eyes, to her name. And yet, even with all those things, he still capable of nothing that… “She has your nose.”
“I knew I she had something of me!” you gasp, ecstatic. “Everyone keeps telling me how she looks so much like Naoya, but she’s my daughter too, you know? I carried her for 9 months! She has to look like me somehow!! But still… I’m very happy she takes after my husband; I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
“How old is she?”
“Just a few weeks, 13 to be precise.”
“So around… 3 months.” Meaning Naomi was born around January.
“And I still can’t believe it.” You swoon.
To think that just a few weeks ago she was still in your belly, patiently waiting for the day she’d be able to be in your arms…  and now, she was there, with you, turning your reality into what you always dreamed of: a family conformed by those you loved the most.
You wished to say that overcoming this sentiment was only a matter of time, that it wouldn’t take much before you freed yourself of this nostalgia. But truth to be told, you knew that to be impossible—for as long as Naomi continues to grow, you’d feel as if time was nothing but fleeting.
But while you where basking in the blessings the presence of your daughter brought into your and Naoya’s life… Nanami was drowning in an overwhelming sense of regret for having missed what was an important milestone in your life.
More than would’ve—he should’ve been there with you, celebrating the birth of your daughter, as he suspected everyone important for you had done. How he knows you would’ve loved him to.
Just… what else did he miss?
“Congratulations.” He adds, offering a glimpse into his burdening feelings. “I wish I had told you before, but I didn’t know of your daughter until now.”
And then, the happiness radiating from your actions, if only briefly, disappears. Yet enough for him to notice.
“Oh, well… no one was supposed to.” You explain, he frowns.
“…Why?” Nanami naturally cautioned, for he couldn’t imagine a reason someone like you, whose dream was to start a family, indisputably happy that your wish was granted, would’ve kept this a secret.
You remain quiet, as if debating whether you should dive deeper into the matter or not… before accepting you at least owed Nanami an explanation to your absence.
Thus, you begin.
“There’s a reason why I essentially disappeared for a while. I wanted nothing more than to let you know of my pregnancy, but… let’s say that my role as Naoya’s wife came with some heavy… precautions.” You sigh. “I mean, I still do things as I always do, it’s not like I’m locked at the estate or anything, I just… have to be more careful about how I go on with my day—or who I talk to.
Because Naoya’s the heir of such prestigious family, he naturally becomes a target to anyone that might want to… get a benefit out of him. Obviously, that extends to me, and now…”
“Your daughter.”
You press your lips together, nodding.
“I really, really wanted to let you know, but after that day—I didn’t know if I should.”
“What do you mean?” Nanami frowns, concern in its highest. “Did… something happen?”
“No! I mean—they tried, but nothing came out of it., really. I’m fine now.”
“What do you mean they tried—Y/N, did someone hurt you? Or the baby?”
“No, I’m telling you—we’re fine! It was just a scare, nothing more.”
“That didn’t sound like a scare to me, Y/N. What happened? And more importantly, where was Naoya during all this?!”
“Nanami, it was just an accident— Naoya would’ve never allowed harm to befall me or Nao—”
And as if sensing your and Nanami’s growing distress, or perhaps remembering this experience throughout whatever little conscience she had at that moment, Naomi begins to wail, effectively snapping both out of trance.
“Oh, no, no, baby—did we scare you?” You coo, quick to rock her up and down while wrapping your arms around her, hoping that she’ll find comfort in the motion while you continue to reassure her. “It's ok, it was nothing but a disagreement, pumpkin. My friend is just worried for me—but Papa made sure that nothing ever happens to us again! So don’t worry your pretty little head about anything, ok?”
You lean your face gently against her head and then, start humming a lullaby.
The moment you spend comforting Naomi is brief, for it doesn’t take longer after that for her to begin to calm down, cries slowly quieting down as you continue to hum her what Nanami figured to be her favorite song— but as short as that instance was, it’s all that he needed to understand you genuinely enjoyed being a mother.
From the way you gently coo at her, give her little pats in the back, grow nothing but attentive to any need she may have… your joy was clear.
This is perhaps the happiest he has ever seen you in his whole life—probably even more than when you got married—and while his absence is something he’ll never be able to take back, he was ultimately glad that you were content.
And regretful that he had underestimated your safety, or Naoya’s efforts.
He just couldn’t help it—amongst those he called his friends, you were the only one left to protect. And such, he had to make sure you wouldn’t succumb to a horrible fate.
“Are you hungry, pumpkin? Oh, or maybe it’s time for you to take a nap?” you ask, looking at your bag.
“Is there something I can help you with?” he immediately asks upon seeing your brief struggle.
“Well, I could take you up on that lunch you told me about a while ago.” You tease, Nanami chuckles. “We have lots to catch up to do! Like telling me what you were doing here??”
“I was referring to Naomi, but sure, I’ll take you—if there isn’t any problem with her.”
“I think she’s just hungry and a bit sleepy—nothing a stroller can’t fix.” You say. “Everything’s on the car so I just need to make my way there.”
“Let me help you with the bag, then.” Nanami says, and without resistance, you let him take the bag from you as you sigh in relief.
“Ah, now that’s something I needed.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Oh, Nanami… it’s ok.” You add. “I get it—if anything your reaction was lighthearted to what my family did… but I swear, we’re fine now. As safe as ever.”
“That’s good to know.” He smiles, and the two begin to walk towards the parking lot. “Why were you here for anyways? I can’t imagine visiting a place like this could be thrilling, less with a baby—especially if you’ve come all the way from Kyoto.”
“Oh, I just came here to do some registrations for Naomi. You know, with her being part of the Zen’in clan and all that sorcerer stuff, it’s something I needed to do as soon as she was born—but I just kept procrastinating on it.”  You explain. “I could’ve done all that in Kyoto, but since I’m also staying with my dad a bit, I’ve decided to do it here. Ever since Naoya got promoted to grade 1, he’s been nothing but busy, and I didn’t want to be alone while Naomi is still this young…”
“I’ve heard, congratulate him for me.” Nanami says. “I’m glad your family is keeping you company.”
“Maybe you can visit sometime too! I’m sure my dad would love to see you again—or maybe we can even go out more often? I have to make the most out of the fact Naoya doesn’t have me surrounded by bodyguards essentially all the time, or my siblings for that matter…”
He laughs.
“Hey! It’s not funny—I mean, he’s attentive… but do you know how annoying it is to have to tell everyone your every move all the time?” you cry. “Seriously, I sometimes even feel like a celebrity.”
Even if it’s a bit exaggerated, Nanami is glad to confirm he truly never had anything to worry. For Naoya not only remained caring, but very protective of you, and now, your baby daughter.
He still can’t believe it.
You and Naoya became parents during this last year.
Parents.
A family, from a relationship he once thought wouldn’t last long thanks to the preconceived notions he had of Naoya.
But he’s changed—stepped up to the role of your partner, and now, father.
It almost felt surreal, like it had been a way for his mind to explain what happened during the time of his absence.
But it wasn’t his imagination, it was there, right before him, in the form of a small, chubby looking baby that was named and looked after her father, as well as your beaming smile.
“—And obviously I want you to carry her!” you said, what little he managed to recover from the ongoing conversation after stepping out of his dwelling thoughts.
“Carry her…? If it’s too much problem, I’d rather not.” Nanami says, remembering her initial disapproval, you shake your head.
“Don’t be silly—it’s no problem. Besides, it is mandatory for me to take a picture of you two to add to the collection!”
“Collection?”
“Yep! I made Naomi an Instagram account where I’ll be posting pictures of her! I want to document everything—from her cute outfits, spending time with her grandpa, to when she’s opening her papa’s gifts, you know? I will not allow my memory to erase these precious moments from my conscience!” you firmly say. “Just send me a request and I’ll add you.”
When you once thought your parent’s photo album to be embarrassing, you are now openly replicating their behavior—although in your own style, of course. But the bottom line remained the same: it really was a parenting thing. At that, Nanami can only chuckle.
“Fine, I’ll make an account.”
“You won’t regret it! Just be sure to block Satoru though—the moment he finds out you have an account he will not leave you alone.”
And you were right, for as soon as he registered, requested to follow Naomi’s pseudo-account and saw you’ve already posted the picture you’ve taken of him and your daughter, the comment section did not waste any time to reflect the opinions Naomi’s admirers had about him: from his sudden reappearance to his “questionable influence” …
It was a circus. All starting from Satoru’s delusions.
hinata_please_unblock_me: You need to get him away from Naomi-chan. He’s going to make her boring and scary like him!!
l/n_hinata: Ha! That’s some bs if I’ve ever read one! He’s a much better influence than you’ll ever be! Also, did you make another account?! What the hell Satoru?? And @zenin_y/n why did you add him again??
zenin_y/n: Language, Hinata… also, wasn’t that Shoko’s account??
zenin_naoya: Get off my daughter’s page before I block both of you.
hinata_please_unblock_me: you wouldn’t dare. And if you do, I’ll just make another account!
l/n_hinata: I’m this close to filing a restraining order if you don’t behave!
hinata_please_unblock_me: @nanami_kento @nanami_kento @nanami_kento look what you’ve done!! Take responsibility of your actions 😡😡
hinata_please_unblock_me: Hey, why isn’t he getting tagged?! I know he has an account!! Wait, did he block me already?!?!  😭😭😭
zenin_naoya: That’s it. You’re getting blocked.
l/n_hinata: NO! @zenin_y/n  please don’t let your husband do this to me!!!
naomis_granpda: What a lovely picture. Can’t wait to have Naomi over this weekend! 😊
Neither you nor Nanami could’ve foreseen his presence instigating such behavior from your friends and family, but as messy as it was, it was also heartwarming, realizing he missed a bit of the chaos from his life—maybe he’ll try to keep up with everyone a bit more.
Or at least with Naomi, who after warming up to his presence, was completely enthralled by him—specifically his blonde hair, which she tried to touch whenever possible, eyes widening when her small fingers finally graced his strands before giggling at its softness.
Well, it wouldn’t be the first time he intrigued one of the Zen’in with his hair. Now it’s just a matter of time to see if she’ll also follow in her father’s footsteps.
Tumblr media
the thing y/n was referring to is this other oneshot. because why not!! let's connect them.
The last part is referencing a hc I posted a while ago: the reason why Naoya dyed his hair is because he heard you complimenting Nanami's a while ago, and wanting to impress you, he did the same thing. Although it stuck with him because he ended up liking it. 🤭
Also, I love how Eiichi is completely oblivious to the argument happening thanks to Nanami's picture with Naomi lol. He would be the epitome of this thing happening in mexico where aunties love sending tweety pictures to whatsapp group chats lol (very niche, I know 😂 that man is getting old I'm telling ya)
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this small interaction :> Nanami is one of the characters I consider to be... quite awkward when it comes to meeting kids, and probably wouldn't be all too affective, but he'll try for yours 🥺 specially for cute Naomi. believe me, he opens up a bit more, but he's overall happy for you 😭❤️
Thank you so much for sending in this ask!! it was a treat to write :3 ❤️
Take care, and hope to see you soon!

Shadow's development Headcanons
Started off looking like more of some .. creature than a hedgehog
Like way too many or not enough limbs, especially because of the Black Doom DNA
I'm imagining him having one eye and being more of a scaly texture but still oddly goopy lol as well as not having hands or fingers and instead having some tentacle type things
Between getting experimented on and his normal growth he eventually grew to look like a normal mobian hedgehog with some key differences
The differences being, the whites of his eyes having a light green tint, too many teeth, every joint is double jointed, quills that are unable to fold down/look relaxed, sharp claws, etc, etc
I also think it'd be fun if one of his feet had one or two extra toes :3
I think at some point during his development he looked like Stitches alien form (from Lilo and stitch)
Whether he can still regrow the limbs now, Gerald manually rewrote his DNA, or one day he just lost the ability to use them is up to you bc idk
Maria watched Shadow grow up essentially from a weird amoeba looking splotch to a semi grown Hedgehog
I headcanon that Shadow's body didn't look like it does now when he originally went into stasis, and he grew while in containment
Hedgehogs aren't supposed to lose quills unless they're under high stress. I think Shadow sheds a lot by nature, and he frequently has to brush his quills to make room for the new ones growing
Teaching Shadow to talk was a rough process. Mostly because he didn't always.. have a mouth.. or hands... so Maria and Gerald had to be on top of figuring out new ways to communicate, just in case
Perfecting his design was painful, Shadow could gain or lose random parts of his body, organs could be grown wrong and bones had to be corrected and moved over and over again, just for the sake of a "perfect" life form
They'd put Shadow back in the Green Tube when they knew a long process was going to be painful, but sometimes he would need to be awake so they could watch his development, but I would hope at least Maria would fight for these processes to be as few and far between as possible
The first words Shadow said were "Maria", "sister", and "pick up"
It took years before Gerald was finally happy with Shadow's look, and even after that he was still being experimented on to track the progression of his steadily growing powers
Things like his enhanced memory, speed, agility, strength, etc
I think Shadow was given his inhibitor rings for ease of retrieval and containment, and it was an easy way to keep track of his powers while not letting him over use them
This is not to say there was nothing redeemable about his childhood. He technically still has good memories to look back on, after all he still had Maria
Anyways uhm yeah, I'm going to post this without proofreading it hopefully that doesn't backfire :D
Feel free to add your headcanons or whatever !!!!
I'm a Tails centric blog, but please hop into my ask box or DMs, I love meeting new people :33

thoughts on this post:
https://www.tumblr.com/alluratron/729365875383222272/thoughts-on-gojo-satoru
it def gave me a different perspective of ch 236 and also Gojo… i guess i never really understood him (i mean granted i only check in on the manga to see who’s survived so far 😭)
definitely interesting and a new perspective for me, too!
that was a lovely read! i can’t read japanese, so it’s great to see the nuances in gojo’s words from the original language itself. with this post in mind, i will say that while i can understand how gege wrote him, i don’t understand why.
it’s true that gojo is different from everyone else! the way he processes information and emotions is a very obvious indicator that he is. but instead of a match in strength, i assumed the biggest lesson he had to learn as a character framed as “alone” by everyone else in the series was connection and interdependence. as in, instead of finding or making people on par with him, i assumed that the work he needed to do as a character was to realize that he could be understood despite the gap in power between him and everyone else. i mean, he’s found that place of understanding before with geto. and that was even after he became the strongest alone. but maybe he was written without the intention of growth. then why write him the way he is?
perhaps the fault really lies in the english translations because by saying “allies” in english, i assumed he meant “support,” as in supporting him as fellow jujutsu sorcerers. it implies that there is a burden to bear and that he wishes to have more people to shoulder it with him, on the same height (similar levels; “catch up with me”). i wouldn’t exactly use the word “allies” to describe a group of people fostered to be on par with gojo for fun’s sake only.
but he is a nuanced character, so perhaps he does care about his responsibilities as a jujutsu sorcerer, and he simultaneously wants other jujutsu sorcerers to have as much fun as he does. but then why doesn’t he just unilaterally establish a new system, since he hates the higher ups and how they run it? geto posed a good question; it’s possible for gojo. is the system a weakness? is his name and lineage a weakness? i don’t understand why we were given so many empathic scenes of him shit-talking the higher-ups when he could just flip the world upside down. if he were leading jujutsu (instead of being somewhat of a figurehead like before), then he could foster people who could have as much fun as he does with jujutsu, right? he could make jujutsu fun for everyone, or at least he could appoint people to make it fun, right? then why hold back?
i think the problem with the writing is that while gojo is a very self-centered character, undeniably arrogant with the power to back it up, he doesn’t exist in a vacuum. gege wrote in politics and a whole world beyond just gojo and his powers, gege wrote in characters who render gojo unmoving. so it’s strange to see gege pick and choose whether or not the canon world affects gojo that day. it’s not consistent. but i mean, gege hates the guy, i guess. so it tracks, as tracking goes.
if so many people see his character a certain way, regardless of language, maybe the problem lies in the readability of his character. assume your readers are smart, yes, but don’t leave things so vague and messy for them to figure it all out by themselves. there’s an obvious incongruity in knowledge between the author and the readers that should be leveled. is he supposed to develop and reach a resolution, like many people assumed he would, or is he supposed to die with his “original sin”? the transition between the gojo we saw in volume 0, in hidden inventory, and even right before his sealing to the gojo we see in 236 is not effective enough to answer that.

Hey there! have you ever done a reading about how was pedro's last serious relationship? not if it was w/ a woman or man or when it happened or how long it lasted but HOW it went, you know? did it helped him somehow (in terms of personal growth/selfesteem, for example) or was it kinda complicated, for example?
Hello! I asked the cards your question and the first pull was the Page of Cups, The Wheel or Fortune and The Magician.
Tumblr media
So, Page of Cups means he was probably pretty much in love. He was feeling like a love sick puppy, with an ideal, dreamy love, even kind of innocent. The Wheel of Fortune points to him possibly knowing it wasn’t supposed to last, since the Wheel is always turning, sometimes it goes a good way and sometimes it goes a bad way. He felt lucky to have them, almost like it was fate that brought them together, but also knowing life is cyclical, and things could go either way. The Magician represents the infinite potential he saw in it, and he was ready to make things happen, no matter what it was. He was head over heels in love and he wanted to explore all that potential.
Tumblr media
The second pull was the 4 of Coins, 9 of Swords and Ace of Swords. 4 of Coins points to a lot of jealousy and insecurities and possessiveness. He felt like he had everything he had always wanted and he had worked for that and he was scared to death to lose it. 9 of Swords shows us the relationship gave him a lot of anxiety and worries, probably because of how afraid he was to lose, and he might have even struggled to sleep well at night. All of that led to the Ace of Swords. There was a moment where he got all the clarity he needed, he was able to be honest with himself and with the person and the person with him. There could have been some arguments, and the question is whether this clarity and honesty brought harmony or destruction.
Tumblr media
When I asked for one card to sum it up, it was the Page of Wands reversed. This card is about an inability to commit. The situation wouldn’t progress, there was fickleness and indecisiveness, and they were not as much as a match as he thought they were, and with that Magician card in the beginning, maybe Pedro was the one expecting more from the whole thing than the person.
Anyway, it kinda tracks with what he said about staying out of relationships for fear of having something and then losing it, right? 🤔🤔
So I am gonna put this reading in the #confirmed readings tag, but this one is just semi-confirmed, okay? 🤣 The feelings and thoughts in it match what he said in the Wired interview, although we don’t know for sure if it’s what happened in his last relationship. 😁

I want to make a fanfic about Neteyam, but at the same time, I’d be too nervous to actually post it anywhere. I think it's because I don't know if my writing would be good or if anyone would even read it, could you maybe give me some tips? I’d really appreciate it, Thank you!
My love this was literally me before I started posting my work. It took a couple months for my boyfriend to convince me to post the first chapter of Ma Neteyam even though I already had 75 pages written. I still struggle with worrying about the quality of my work and convincing myself to post anyways. However, the longer I've been on this platform the more I have noticed that this is a common feeling among almost all the Avatar writers.
My advice to you, which is truly advice to myself too, is to focus on having fun while writing fanfics. I know that sounds super cheesy and basic but it's a very easy thing to forget and before you know it you are putting immense amount of pressure on yourself to write something amazing even though it was supposed to be just for fun in the first place. Trust me, I have to remind myself this often. So try your best to remember that you are writing for free and it is meant to be enjoyable.
The best way I have found to do this is to write stuff that you would want to read. If the idea for this Neteyam fanfic is something you would have loved to read then you are on the right track. You should feel excited about what you are writing, even if there is the occassional writers block (it's normal, we all get it). I've found that I do my best work when the idea is something I can't get out of my head. I spend hours daydreaming about it during the day and working through different plots and dialogue.
From there, try not to worry too much about whether or not people will like it. I promise you that if you write something you like there are bound to be others out there that will like it too, it just might take some time for them to find you.
At the end of the day, even big writing mistakes won't be the end of the world and there will always be room for improvement and growth. We write fanfiction because it's fun and it's a good escape so as long as you find joy from it, you are on the right track.
I hope that was at least a little helpful. It truly means a lot to me that you think I have the knowledge for giving tips. Honestly, I am just winging it out here, but I think that is how most writers feel.
If you do post it, and I sincerely hope you do, I would love to read whatever you write.
Thank you for reaching out and feel free to spam my inbox if you have any other questions or thoughts. I wish you the best of luck, angel! <3

PJ&O Episode 3 thoughts!! Spoilers ahead.
I love that Uncle Ferdinand had not one, not two, but THREE MENTIONS and even a touching scene with Grover finding his statue at the end of the episode
I’m sorry, but there were supposed to be 3 furies attacking them on the bus (& the bus was supposed to be driving / get in a car wreck cuz of the fight)
Alecto’s offer to Annabeth makes a little bit of sense, but Annabeth choosing to go invisible just to reveal her location by talking to Alecto does NOT make ANY of sense. Where was the master strategist Annabeth in that moment? Normally Annabeth talks to stall for time in a pinch. Not as a just because.
Medusa’s offer to Percy made even LESS sense. I understand that they’re trying to condense a lot of information and a lot of big emotions / character growth into 8 short episodes. But it doesn’t make sense to me that Medusa would know about Percy’s mom, would play up the “I’m not what you think I am” story, and offer to turn Percy’s quest mates into statues. It’s just a bad deal and reveals her intentions too easily.
Grover is a vegetarian; he wouldn’t call out hamburgers and drool the way he did.
The consensus song… is uncanny. I don’t like it. I like what it does—break the tension, show that Grover balances both Percy & Annabeth. But I don’t like the song itself or the clapping interruption thing. It’s weird and jars me out of the scenes.
I DID like the direct convo between Percy & Annabeth at the end of the episode where they confront each other. Percy reveals that he’s stressed about the whole quest thing. They go at each other, show that they don’t trust each other. And Grover forced them to talk it out. I did like that & I think it did a pretty good job of speedrunning the development of the books
I think it was interesting that Medusa so directly called out Percy and Annabeth for falling in their parents footsteps. I think one of the things that the show has been doing is being much more direct with its messaging and subtext and character motivations. Everything is told directly to the characters and therefore the audience.
The oracle made an appearance! I loved the depiction of the oracle itself and the green smoke.
The attic is very book accurate and even has the Minotaur horn callback!
I did not like that smelly Gabe gave the prophecy??? It felt so out of place and cheapened the moment, made it feel less serious. I think in the books, it was Gabe and his poker friends who appeared in the smoke, but they still spoke with the oracles voice and were otherwise still creepy and ominous. This felt…. Cheeky. Like a Parody.
“I AM IMPERTINENT” 10/10 I love love love that this exact dialogue made it in
I was so worried that they wouldn’t fight Medusa and Percy wouldn’t ship the head to Olympus. Especially when he suggested leaving it in the basement with Annabeth cap of invisibility (left field??)
Agai with direct information being given: the explanation of monsters tracking abilities. “They smell your inadequacies, your desire for glory, your shame.” Percy, Annabeth, Grover’s insecurities. Spoon fed to us.
I did love that Percy’s frustration for the gods came out more this episode. Something like “a dad that never cared about me”
I loved the animation / cgi for the Hermes wing shoes
I still don’t feel like Lin Manuel-Miranda was a good Hermes choice. He’s just too famous. He has so much history with him, it’s hard to separate him from his other roles in Hamilton and Moana and Little Mermaid. We only got like 2 minutes of him, so time will tell. But I’m hesitant.
I like that we got more Annabeth time.
I still feel like the Thalia info came too early.
I still want a 25 episode season. I want chapter by chapter. I want build up. I want the new fans to see the slow burn and the build up. A universe being built.
I’ll have more thoughts, I’m sure

I am surprisingly okay with their first boink being awkward because is so relatable . tv and movies sell the first time as such a magical experience but most of the time it’s not. It’s awkward and clumsy, sometimes u think u aren’t compatible. specially because Ben has not have sex either. It’s new for the both of them. Devi not being able to handle a conversation about it and running away? relatable and so Devi. Ben thinking it was just a one thing situation? Sadly it tracks w him.
She needs to deal w the fact that having sex means communication she can’t just run away. it requieres a different level of honesty and vulnerability.
And it will tie with them having sex again the night of prom (the bed parallel was done on propose to symbolize that) but this time it will be after some good needed talk and it will be between two people that hopefully have matured a lot in the school year so i won’t be surprised if they paralleled the aftermath of the act but instated of the awkwardness from 401 there’s just giddiness and cute things.
yes anon, me too. them both being virgins until now, and young teens, all naturally culminate into an awkward first time. especially since devi has spent all these years having this fantastical idea of sex, when it isn't that! and that's the point.
that post sex clarity really hits them hard because devi isn't just running away, she's BOLTING. her behavior shows that although she's learning to live in the present, she doesn't know how to approach the consequent future. ben, being ghosted by devi for long, and also feeling like she'll never want to be with him for a good chunk of his high school life, chooses to be with margot to save himself the hurt. they are both choosing the safer way out because they don't know how to face their feelings, which are much bigger than themselves.
Tumblr media
i also wonder if there's something we're missing here. ben looks petrified while devi looks, lost, almost? perhaps there is a reason for their awkwardness beyond having sex with your childhood rival. maybe something else happened.
Tumblr media
love, love, love the tie back to prom night. currently where we left them at 310/401, ben and devi both need to undergo lots of growth before engaging in a relationship. and the huge puzzle piece of their relationship that's missing is that big damn conversation, the confession.
devi wanting to originally choose ben. eleanor telling ben that information. it never went anywhere!
devi not having stomach knots with paxton, yet finding them with ben. that also hasn't been a topic of conversation yet. she didn't arrive at his house just to have sex. she went because she has feelings for him, and wouldn't trust anybody else with her first time, but he never got to hear that.
both of them not having confirmation that the other likes them back is what leads to their falling out in the beginning of the season. the scene after prom, if paralleling their first boink, has the potential to be the moment where both ben and devi finally communicate about all their misunderstandings. even better! have them discuss it before in the middle of the season, so that this scene in 409 can go much smoother. so that if or when she has sex with ben for the second time, she realizes that this is how its supposed to be. where you have assurance the other person loves you. where you're allowed to enjoy it rather than focus on what happens after.
where for once, after they strip themselves of all pretense, devi doesn't run and ben doesn't rebound.

idk if you're still taking prompts but jaytim+ 1.) "You are enough."
I wondered what it might look like if Tim sought out Jason, after Dick choses Damian to be Robin. Thank you for your prompt ❤️
"Do you ever think about not doing this anymore?"
In the corner of his eye, Jason lowers the pad thai he's been forking into his mouth. It's a few heavy, contemplative beats before he clarifies, "'This' being…?"
Tim waves an aimless hand towards the city beneath them, an orange glow that burns stark against the greying city and the murky clouds above.
"This. Being a vigilante. Being Robin, I suppose."
Jason chews, and doesn't answer for a while. Beneath their boots, the distant sounds of traffic hums through the night.
"It's a lot to give up."
The bleak laugh bubbles over his tongue unbidden, and Tim bites his lips to regain a semblance of composure. "Not as much as everyone else. I became Robin for Bruce, to give him a purpose. I wasn't ever in it to get something for myself. I moulded myself around that need. It's not a legacy, like it is to Dick. Robin is just who I am when I need to be; it's not that much to lose, right?"
Jason's tone is gentle. "A lot of yourself, I mean."
Tim lets that settle against his chest, heavy and close. Jason shifts closer, his elbow knocking Tim's as they stare out over the cityscape.
"It takes a lot to be Robin. You put a lot of yourself into that, and sometimes we forget how much it takes out of us."
Jason rubs his thumb into his palm in deep, slow circles. He watches the horizon, gaze distant. Tim watches his scarred hands.
"Nothing about this life is done in half-measures. When it takes a bite out of you, it takes a whole mouthful. Gotham will chew you up and spit you out if you let it. Sometimes that means standing your ground and saying, 'Don't fucking eat me.'" Jason turns to look at Tim, and Tim holds his gaze. "But sometimes it means knowing when you're outmatched. Sometimes you just need a break from all of Gotham. Sometimes the distance helps you gain a little perspective on everything. Vigilante life included."
Tim digests that in silence, nails tapping against the pockmarked concrete ledge beneath them. The light is beginning to return to the horizon, seeping through the fog of a storm lingering over the city. This high up, it all looks small, and inevitable.
"Do you think any of us ever really walk away from this?"
Jason tilts his head, considering. "You can take the kid outta Gotham, but… You're strong, Tim. You've got your head on straight. And that sense of justice? That sense that drew you to Robin in the first place? That doesn't disappear when you take the suit off. That stays with you. That is you."
He leans his weight back on his palms, inhaling deeply the morning Gotham air.
"So no, you don't walk away from that. But Robin? Yeah, you can outgrow Robin."
Tim huffs a short laugh, chest feeling a little lighter. "Easy for you to say. You got your growth spurt from a magic Pit."
"Maybe you weren't supposed to be Robin," Jason returns, deadpan. Tim glances up at him, the mirth sliding swiftly from his face, but Jason doesn't sound spiteful. "You said it yourself; you were filling a role, a gap. Maybe Robin isn't ever who you were supposed to be."
"But if I'm not Robin, who the hell am I?"
Jason shrugs. "The universe has a weird way of righting itself. A messy, fucked up, fated way of putting us on the right track. Losing Robin, that hurt you. I won't pretend it was good, or right. But the universe doesn't care much for right or wrong. You and me? We've got to set the record straight ourselves. If you want something out of the universe, you've got to carve it out yourself."
Tim shakes his head, trying to parse Jason's untouchable philosophy. "Robin is all I've ever had. If I'm not Robin, who could I even be?"
"You could be enough," Jason answers, looking back out to the horizon. The sun is beginning to stretch towards them, bright and warm. "It's not a matter of changing yourself, Tim. You're exactly who you need to be. You are enough."
His blue-green eyes look depthless, older than his years when Jason turns to smile at him.
"You've just got to tell us what enough looks like now."
Prompt me again!

hello! i rly love ur supa strikas hcs so much!!! may i ask for a hc on tiger, skarra, miko and ja nein with a s/o whose taller than them?
Thank you!!! I love when there's Supa Strikas requests!
Tiger
Height difference? What height difference? Oh, was he supposed to notice that? A lot of people are taller than him - if he kept track of every single person that loomed over he'd have a headache.
As the canonically shortest member of the Supa Strikas, and arguably out of the entire franchise, Tiger neither notices nor minds the difference. Few are the people he's dated that are shorter than him.
He's secretly a fan of being the short one. There's something about looking up and your s/o is just there that gets him every time.
Also regardless of whether s/o has boobs or chest, he has the best resting place at night. Its a win-win for him.
Skarra
Is this man very insecure about... a lot of things? Undoubtedly. But as any man with a love for legs will tell you, s/o being tall is a bonus. The insecurities that pop up whenever they reach for something for him or he has to reach up for a kiss are instantly annihilated by a pair of nice legs.
It takes character growth but Skarra does reach the point where he goes from squirming at the team's jabs at the height difference to unabashedly gesturing to s/o with pride. "What you mad I stole someone your height? Mad you couldn't score?"
Miko
There is an adjustment period required for Miko, only because he's never dated someone taller than him and he just doesn't want to gunk it up.
Miko has had an embarrassing amount of times where he turns to kiss them and then remembers he has to look up to see their face. It takes him a bit of dating before he gets the hang of it.
Honestly, the height difference makes him blush. More than once s/o has been gussied up for a party, looking like an entire snack and Miko needs a moment to recover mentally and emotionally.
Smitten, the man is smitten with his s/o.
Ja Nein
He is used to being the shortest on the team. That comes with the territory of being 5ft 8 on a team of 6ft+ giants (where General keeps finding these giants is beyond him). Still, Ja Nein does find it a tad funny that he fell for someone taller than him. he cannot escape tall people at all.
The good news on being the shortest teammate is that there is no fresh material the rest of the team can use that he hasn't already heard. He's has to reach? Please, that joke went stale several months ago.
The one insecurity he does have is strength. He's fit but compared to the rest of the jocks on his team Ja Nein might as well be a noodle. After some thought though he has learned a great way to combat this feeling. So long as s/o doesn't mind being lifted up repeatedly in front of the team.

To Be Alive (FNAF SB fanfic) C1 - Birthday Bash
In summary:
At long last, the thrilling continuation of 'To Be Human'! There are more shenanigans for Star and co to get up to, and new horrors to be subjected to! Not to mention, Eclipse is still at large and up to no good... As 'To Be Human' is a self contained stand-alone story, one could very well choose to leave the adventure as is! Considering there are some heavier themes in this one (biggest thing here being death, specifically) that's exactly what I would recommend you do if you like everything very much the way it ended in 'To Be Human'. This story is an exploration of a few ideas I wanted to work with left over from the first story, and a way to tie up some very minor loose ends, as well as a return to some characters and a world I had a lot of fun with.
Things To Know:
Reader insert! Y/N is not used and gender is not specified, though the reader does have a blorbo-appointed name (Star)
Non-specified relationships between reader and Sun & Moon, this can be read as pals, family, partners, whatever you like, totally up to your interpretation
Sun & Moon are separate bots and referred to with gender neutral pronouns
The reader and other characters are often in mortal peril! This world is full of Funky Creatures (other than you) and some of them attack and hurt several characters, including the reader character
Some blood and minor gore
Occasional swearing
Death
(as always, let me know if I should add anything!)

Chapter 1 | Chapter 2
C1 - Birthday Bash
It was a lovely day, as far as days go. They didn't go too far, at least for you. In your mind you knew the days were meant to be longer. There were also supposed to be seasons, but in your many days living here, the climate had stayed consistent. No winters to hibernate from, no spring time to usher in new growth after the cold. Some nights were colder than others, and Sun and Moon told you different parts of the planet were much different than others, rainforests and deserts and mountains and plains. You wanted to travel and see these places, maybe find more ruins and artifacts along the way, but travel between communities was dangerous, with the creatures you all shared the world with these days. And so the only traveling you really did was into town.
The long half-day walk between the shelter and the outer edge of town was more or less second nature to you at this point. Moon liked to remind you that the forest was still dangerous, and you shouldn't let the familiar become comfortable. You would argue that the comfort of being in your element, familiar with your surroundings, made you much better at keeping an eye out for danger and irregularities. Sun, meanwhile, was keeping an actual eye out while you and Moon bickered.
Sunshine warmed your skin between gaps in a pale green canopy. Dark purple dirt was loose and soft beneath your shoes, though still slightly soggy from last night's rain. You kicked a rock and smiled gratefully down at your shoes- you'd found them on your latest expedition down into the catacombs. They were definitely too big for your feet, but after stuffing some leaves in there they were just fine.
The three of you made it to the city in great time. Patchwork buildings came into sight as you stepped past the tree line. It was always fun to try and spot subtle changes and differences in the buildings, as bots repaired old structures and developed new ones.
You pulled up your hood and pocketed your hands as you reached the street, worn and cracked and packed full of weeds. The edge of town here was never busy, especially since the race track was off on the opposite side of the city, but you felt better with the hood anyways.
You started to walk ahead as the three of you made your way down familiar alleyways and along back walls.
"Don't go running off," Moon warned.
You stuck your tongue out at Moon. You debated running off briefly just to annoy them, but decided against it. You were starting to get another headache, and running around getting into trouble certainly wouldn't help that. You wanted to get to the repair shop anyways. Everyone there was always happy to see you. Bonnie and Freddy were always nice to you, and sometimes even let you help out around the shop with Chica.
Finally, the three of you made it to the repair shop. You knocked on the door as Moon and Sun caught up with you. Monty opened the door, and the three of you filed inside, familiar dim neon lights washing over you.
     "Star!!"
You grinned wide as Bonnie and Freddy greeted you fondly. They were both behind the counter, where Foxy had laid out their latest haul. Chica and Roxy were hanging out here in the front room as well, having been in the middle of their own conversation when you'd walked in.
"There's my little buddy!" Monty grinned and poked you after shutting the door behind you.
     You poked him back. "Hi!"
"How are the three of you? Was the walk into town alright?" Freddy asked.
"It was pleasantly uneventful," Moon replied. They were avoiding looking at Bonnie, who was avoiding them right back. It seemed the two of them had come to some sort of tentative 'you don't talk to me and I don’t talk to you and we'll just be polite in shared company' agreement.
"That's good to hear. There's been a few reports of wild animal attacks lately around this side of town, so be sure to stay safe. No wandering off alone or anything like that." Bonnie looked pointedly at you.
"Anyways." You pointedly did not meet Bonnie's gaze. "How are you all?"
"Things have been much the same since your last visit. All is still well! Roxy remains our top client, of course," Freddy said.
"This place remains to be the best in town." Roxy shrugged.
Bonnie folded his arms over the counter. "Even so, we're pretty far out of the way for you here. We sure do appreciate you coming by to see us, especially for just a check up."
"Yeah, well, I need to make sure I'm in good condition for my next race. You're all coming to watch me, right?" Roxy asked. She looked at Chica, despite directing the question towards everyone.
"Of course we will! You're our favorite racer, after all," Chica said with a wink. She turned her attention to you and Sun and Moon as Roxy's tail started to wag. "You three are just in time, we just finished up here for the day! You could come watch the race with us if you want!"
You'd only seen the last half of one race before, though you could remember it clearly and fondly. You'd had an absolute blast. "Yes yes yes yes yes!"
Sun smiled at you. "We'd love to, thank you!"
"So long as we stay out of sight," Moon said.
"On that note, still no word on Eclipse, I'm afraid," Foxy chimed in. "I've been keepin' an ear out for any news. Haven't heard a thing, but that doesn't mean they've left town just yet."
"Right. I still think it's safer to assume they're still looking for us." Moon sighed. "Thank you, Foxy."
"Not a problem, matey." Foxy gave Moon a salute with their hook.
"Forget about that fool. If Eclipse ever shows their stupid face around these parts again I'll take care of em." Monty threw a fist into his palm, the metal making a loud 'TONK' sound.
You gave Monty's arm an appreciative pat. You knew that if you ever saw Eclipse again, you'd be the one 'taking care' of them. There was no way you'd let them hurt Sun and Moon, or any of your friends for that matter.
"In other news," Sun started, setting a hand on your shoulder, "since its been roughly a year since Star's activation, that means its their birthday!"
"Birthday?? What's that?" Monty looked at you curiously.
"It's a human thing! Everyone gets a birthday. It's a celebration, once a year, every year, to celebrate the day you were born, and your continued life," you explained to everyone. "I'm not sure exactly how long its actually been, and I also wasn't exactly born, but being created in a lab is close enough."
"Aw, what a fun idea!!" Bonnie smiled. "I'm happy to celebrate our good friend Star coming into our lives."
"I agree!" Freddy laid his arm over Bonnie's shoulders. "You're a bright spot in all our lives, super-star." He smiled kindly at you.
"Thank you," you said quietly, unsure what to do with the kind words but enjoying them immensely none the less.
"How do humans usually celebrate birthdays?? Is there anything special we can do for ya?" Foxy asked.
"You usually just get all your friends together and have a good time, so we're already covered!" you said. "There's also supposed to be gifts and decorations and a cake, but its not strictly necessary."
"Oh! Well I don't know about decorations or cake, but…" Foxy pulled off their bag and rooted around inside for a moment.
You eyed them curiously and took a slow step closer.
"I found something lately in those old ruins south of here… reminded me a lot of you! So I thought I'd give it to ya next time I saw ya." Foxy finally pulled out a strange sort of device. It looked to be made of wood at first glance, but upon closer inspection it was definitely far too shiny to be real wood. It only took a moment for your brain to recognize the object, another strange factual 'memory' clicking into place.
     Ukulele.
"It seems kind of strange, small and unassuming at first, but…" Foxy plucked a few strings. Three light little notes struck you right through the heart. "It's really quite wonderful, once you get to understanding it a bit better!"
"Ah??" You stared wide eyed at the instrument for a moment. You looked up at Foxy. Then back down. "Thank you! So much!!"
Foxy held the instrument out to you, beckoning for you to take it. You tentatively grabbed it and turned it over a few times, studying it. Your brain was pretty quick these days to feed you information on human stuff, though sometimes it still took you a while. The information was like old memories, sometimes a little too faded to be of much use, more dream-like than anything. They weren't even really memories, just really good copies of memories and stored thoughts and facts. Sometimes things felt like déjà vu, like you'd experienced something before, even though you definitely hadn't. (Déjà vu being another little 'memory' you'd acquired a while ago upon experiencing the weird sensation for the first time. You'd asked Sun and Moon about it, but gathered that robots didn't seem to experience the same thing.) You pieced together enough to figure out how to hold the instrument, and how the little pegs the wires were attached to worked. Usually, you could intuit the rest of anything you couldn't 'remember' fully.
You brushed a thumb over the strings, making all four strings sing at once. The notes were a little unorganized -out of tune- but the noise they made was downright magical. It was the feeling of something soft under your hand, but sound. It felt like you'd found something you didn't even know was missing. Some crucial part of you that you'd neglected and was now alive, woken by the sound of mismatched chords.
"Music," you murmured. "Oh. This is wonderful."
"I'm glad you like it!" Foxy grinned.
You hugged Foxy, who laughed lightly and pat your back.
“I’m not the only one who’s got a little something for ya, either!” Foxy looked at Monty.
Monty stiffened and shuffled his feet. “Oh, uh. No, actually, I don’t know…”
"You have something for me too??" You poked Monty excitedly.
Monty looked away, clearly embarrassed. "It's not as good as Foxy's thing…"
"I wouldn't rank gifts. I'm just happy to have gotten gifts in the first place. I'm sure whatever it is I'm going to love it!" you assured.
Monty hesitated. He glanced down at you, then sighed. "Well… alright. Here." He popped open a compartment on his arm and pulled out a small assortment of pens, as well as a funny little book.
Upon inspection, the pens were still full of ink, each a different color. And the book was full of blank paper, pages and pages of it, edges rough and torn and bound with clumsy hands but still threaded together securely. The pages were blank, except for the very first, where a very crude and simplistic doodle of two figures holding hands had been drawn with the words 'best friends' scrawled above them. One of the figures was green and twice as big as the other, who appeared to be smiling.
"From what I know about humans, you guys like to draw and color… Or at least, the ones in the catacombs did. So I thought… maybe you’d like to be able to draw. So I went out with Foxy and put this together," Monty explained.
You stared down at the notebook and pens, holding them carefully in your hands. You thought about the markings on the walls down in the catacombs, and you thought about all the things you could do and create with this. Just having somewhere to write down your thoughts was a wonder, you were constantly jealous of Sun and Moon and their inherent note databank stored right in their heads.
You threw your arms around Monty in a big hug. "This is amazing. Thank you, Monty."
Monty relaxed significantly as you hugged him. He pat your back. "You're welcome. Glad you like it."
"I love it!!" you assured. "This is awesome! I should have had a birthday ages ago."
Just then, Bonnie started beeping. "Oh! Sorry to interrupt," Bonnie said, quickly moving to sheepishly cover his ears with his hands. "I'm getting a transmission. Sounds like a general news broadcast."
The beeping sound was sort of grating and definitely not helping your growing headache any. Even so, you were curious to hear what was on the news. Usually Bonnie didn't beep like that unless it was important.
"Oh! It might be more updates from the scientist working on renewable energy," Freddy guessed, patting Bonnie's arm excitedly.
This had everyone's attention. Bonnie straightened his ears back up as everyone gathered around the counter. His ears adjusted slightly, positioning the concave dishes inside just so. A moment of static punched through his speaker, and quickly faded into clear words.
"Thank you for taking the time to interview with us today, I know you must be very busy," a high pitched voice said.
"Thank you for having me," a quieter voice replied.
"I wont take up too much of your time here so lets just get right into it," the higher pitched voice began. "We know you've been working on figuring out how to reconstruct renewable energy from human artifacts, machines that were once solar panels and wind turbines, to my understanding. My first question for you is, what kind of impact do you think your work will have on our society?"
"Oh, yes, good question. Well, I, like many others, am of the opinion that a society that ties its currency to a vital need is aught to be rife with corruption. Power generating bots have been withholding batteries from those in need solely for the hopes of gaining riches and services in return, with no care at all for the bots suffering from these actions. Since we all depend on energy to function, to live, that puts these bots in a position of incredible power over everyone else. Over time these issues have gotten worse as certain bots accumulate more power, abuse their status, and continue to harm the rest of us."
"You're a power producing bot yourself, are you not?" asked the high pitched voice.
"I am indeed. Which is why I've been afforded the privilege of being able to work in my field as I have. The work that I and other scientists do isn't cheap, the research and development alone is costly as it is, but also taking into account things like acquiring building materials, hiring bots to help you travel to research sites, even hiring other more specialized scientists to help develop tech, there's a lot of things that add up. Beyond batteries, having connections is a whole other necessity to the field. But I'm getting off track here. To answer your first question, the reason I got into society and corruption is that I believe my work could very well render these corrupt power generating bots obsolete. With the work I'm doing, coupled with the work already done by other scientists expanding battery capacity and efficiency, we could power entire cities of bots with an extremely reasonable amount of resources. We could have battery chargers lining the streets, free to use, powered by reconstructed renewable energy machines and, if they want, power generating bots as well. We're also looking into developing unobtrusive body mods, so bots anywhere could charge their own batteries on the go with no effort, so long as they're in the sunlight or someplace windy."
"Now wouldn't that be something? How much charge would you charge for such a mod?"
The quiet scientist was quick to reply. "These modifications wouldn't cost anything, of course. The goal we're working towards here, ultimately, is the betterment of society. Any scientist worth their title would agree, we do what we do in the name of all of us. We work towards self betterment, community, mutual respect, the pursuit of knowledge, all in the name of our fellow bot. With my work I'm of course hoping to contribute to the greater good here."
"I see, I see. That's all the time we have I'm afraid, we do appreciate you taking the time to talk with us, and for all of you listening in, don't forget to tune in to our regular program-"
Bonnie's ears twitched as he ended the broadcast. "Well isn't that exciting!"
You were grateful Bonnie had cut the closing rambling short, something about the one bot's high pitched voice had been really aggravating your headache.
"Yeah!! Hey, is that true? Does being a scientist really cost that much?" Chica asked.
Sun nodded. "It is. Moon and I wouldn't be able to do what we do if we weren't power generating bots."
"The thing about having connections was true as well. That's why we needed Eclipse as an investor. They provided connections and materials we didn't have the first clue how to get access to on our own," Moon said.
"That adds up. Of course you'd need networking help," Monty said with a teasing smile.
     Moon shot him a glare.
"Can you imagine, getting a charge from the wind or the sun? My battery would fill up all on its own just while I'm racing!" Roxy said.
"Aye, imagine all the space I'd have in my pack for artifacts if I didn't have to lug around spare batteries with me on trips," Foxy mused.
"The new tech sure sounds exciting! It'd help out so many bots. No one would have to worry about running out of batteries anymore," Sun said.
"It'd take bots like Eclipse down a peg as well," Moon added.
"Good. Maybe we wouldn't even have to worry about them anymore," you said hopefully. You rubbed at your brow, trying to soothe your headache.
"How are you feeling, Star?" Freddy asked, noticing the motion.
"Oh, I'm alright, just a headache." You waved.
"Another one? You've been having those headaches for quite a while now," Bonnie noted, sounding concerned.
You noticed both Sun and Moon growing uncomfortably still beside you. Bonnie was right. Not only that, but the headaches had been getting worse, too.
You smiled and waved again, though your smile felt a little strained. "Oh yeah, I'm fine. I'm just dying."

System Collapse, Chapter 1
(Curious what I'm doing here? Read this post! For the link index and a primer on The Murderbot Diaries, read this one!)
In which we're back on the forward-track of the timeline.
Dr. Bharadwaj once told Murderbot that she thought it hated planets because it feared being judged expendable and left behind on one. MB lied to her, and said it's because planets are boring. Well, planets aren't boring, but it's less-boring in a bad way. Especially when you're investigating pre-Rim possibly alien contaminated sites in an environmental suit because you were being weird about wearing your armour.
MB decides to back up the conversation a bit for context.(1)
About 47 hours before our story starts, MB wanted to punch something in the face, preferably Art, or itself. They were already on the alien-contaminated planet. MB was surveilling a building. Having chased Ratthi,(2) Iris, and Tarik into the building, Hostile One, an agri-bot like the ones MB found scary in Network Effect, couldn't fit to follow.(3)
Art is asking for a status report, and MB waves it off, but it wants MB's personal status, not mission status.
Ugh, my status. I wasn’t supposed to come down to the planet again. Me, ART, Mensah, Seth, and Martyn had all made that decision, because of redacted.(4) I had even had an assignment during this day-cycle, sort of. It wasn’t really busywork, but it wasn’t not busywork, either. Karime had an in-person meeting planned with a faction of colonists at the main site habitation, and Three was going with her for security while pretending to be a human (always a fun time) and I was supposed to monitor Three and make sure it knew what to do and to not let ART give it anxiety. (Or more anxiety than it already had on its own.) I had been lying on the bunk in one of ART’s cabins watching The Rise and Fall of Sanctuary Moon (episode 121, on repeat) while waiting for Karime and Three’s shuttle to arrive at the meeting site, when ART had slammed into my feed and said, I need you.(5)
Art couldn't use a pathfinder to take out the agribot, because that explosion would hurt the humans, so it became MB's turn.
On the feed, Ratthi asks how MB is doing. MB says it's fine, but not to let anyone get closer to the ag-bot's tentacle. Ratthi says it's a growth stimulator,(6) and it's fine, there's no rush.
You’re not fine, Ratthi, for fuck’s sake. (For however many corporate standard years, all I got from humans was “Run in there now no matter how likely you are to get blown to tiny pieces when a quiet tactical approach has a higher percentage of success” and now it’s “Oh no we’re fine, we can hang out in this objectively terrifying immediately hazardous situation for however long.”)(7)
MB continues to grumble in its thoughts about humans' penchant for understating things, and how Bharadwaj says even good changes can be stressful. While it does, its drones keep scouting for a position to take a good shot at the ag-bot with the recall beacon Art decided to repurpose to take it out. MB is glad for a weapon that won't bring it close enough to get its ass handed to it, again, by one of them.
A paragraph is spent comparing this ag-bot to the ones in Network Effect, and how similar and different the alien contamination was. Another paragraph is used to show Seth explaining the recall beacon, and apologizing to MB for having to go on-planet despite whatever the earlier redacted portion was. MB told him it was fine, and reiterates to the reader that it's fine, just fine, dangit.(8)
At any rate, a drone finds a good vantage point, but something about the threat assessment number, as well as the likelihood of successful retrieval, gives MB pause. As it reviews the numbers and the situation, it realizes it's not going to work. This is the problem with letting Art and the humans come up with the plans, really, and MB would have been more proactive about it, but the redacted incident.(9)
MB is on the move again, and sends its calculations to Art in place of an explanation. It would love to have Three here, but that would mean interrupting Karime's meeting, which is very important. And, there's no reason MB can't handle this. It already has a new plan, even! And threat assessment likes it more, because the explosion is further from the humans.
MB drops two transponders then gets the ag-bot's attention. It gives chase, and as it approaches the first, MB signals to detonate it… but the ag-bot jumps, as the contamination must have increased its processing and access to local networks.
As it's about to land on MB, two things happen: first, MB rolls to point the launcher for the last recall transponder up at it, and second, MB receives a ping from another SecUnit. At first it assumes it's Three, somehow, which would be embarrassing but also a relief. Only, it literally can't be Three, there wasn't time for it to get here, which means… it's a Barish-Estranza SecUnit.
Four days after Preservation showed up in Network Effect, a B-E explorer had arrived with three fresh SecUnits, minimum. The B-E group has been more proactive about evaluating the situation and talking to the colonists. Art ran the numbers, more than once, and it wasn't worth just killing them all on principle.
The other SecUnit hits the ag-bot with projectiles, right in the central processor as well as some shots to break it up, as it falls toward MB. MB, for its part, is able to roll out of the way of the debris. Art says that was too close to a murder attempt.
MB has everyone lock down for security, since it knows what a SecUnit is capable of intercepting, and runs all its new and improved human movement code. It asks if they can call off their SecUnit, and tries to groan and rise like a human would have in its situation. It even makes the effort to look at what it now terms B-E Unit1, and as Ratthi runs up to check on it, it asks him to pretend to help it up.
Ratthi, thankfully, picks up the situation immediately, and tells the B-E party that was too close. MB thinks about what it would have done differently, or at least tried to do.
(Obviously this is not actually what I’m upset about, it’s just easier to be angry about B-E Unit1’s fuckup and/or disregard for minimum client safety.) Safer to be angry about it, ART said on our private connection. I was not even going to respond to that. ART had told Mensah it wouldn’t push me. Just because its MedSystem was certified for emotional support and trauma recovery it thought it knew everything.(10)
Iris goes to meet the B-E leader, with Tarik close by and wearing his visor the way MB is, so it doesn't look out of place for covering its face. The leader is someone they've seen before, Sub-Supervisor Dellcourt, who is one of the smart ones. Iris thanks them too-politely,(11) and asks if they'll be billing later. Dellcourt says they'll add it to the creditor's statement.
MB explains how the billing is not a joke, Pin-Lee and Turi, Art's accountant, have been preparing a counter-bill if this ever ends. Money fights between corps are common and boring.
If you wonder why Art has an accountant, Martyn said Art is perfectly capable of doing its own accounting, but ends up with extra numbers that not even their best accountants can track. Turi does it with hardcopy backup ledgers, to make sure Art can't edit the data. There's a question about whether Art is making up numbers for fun, or if it has credit balances somewhere they don't know about.
Back to the story, where Dellcourt asks what business they have here. Iris asks the same. MB thinks it's some human posturing thing it doesn't understand, but it's pretty obvious Iris's group has been repairing the routers, and given the projectiles Unit1 had, the B-Es were looking for contaminated bots.
MB takes another aside(12) to describe the first interaction between the fresh B-E explorer and Art, which ended with B-E scuttling off and probably believing Art is an asshole human commanding officer. It clarifies that Art's sapience is a secret from everyone except the ranked levels of its university, and its team, and MB's team, so B-E have no way of even guessing what Art really is.
The rest of the B-E group is watching MB and the other humans. MB is glad it refined its human movement code, so it knows what to do with its hands. Still, it can tell Unit1 is staring at it. Iris, whether she noticed this as well or not, turns to thank Unit1. Dellcourt is dismissive, saying it's a SecUnit. Iris ignores him, and her team collect their equipment and leave.
=====
(1) Much appreciated, old friend. (2) Hey, I thought Murderbot was the only one sticking around for Art's missions! Nice to see another familiar face. And, Ratthi's really grown on me this reread. (3) Nice callback, not mentioning the book name (I did that myself) but making the connection for the reader. (4) Do you think we'll get an unredacted version of this in the book? Is it just referring to the events of Network Effect? (5) And, of course, what is MB going to do when its friend is in need? Help, that's what. (6) Oh that's what they're calling it these days? (7) Yep, sorry, people acknowledge your personhood now, and will be as polite to you as they would try to be to anyone else. (8) The more you say it, the less I believe it. Sorry. (9) Every repetition just makes me more curious. Why is this event redacted? (10) And to be fair, Art knows a lot. MB's just as stubborn as Mensah was about needing emotional help and support. (11) I very much imagine this in the vein of the "Bless your heart" of the southern US. (12) Every other paragraph in this opening chapter, I swear. To some degree I understand the necessity, since there's obviously been some time skip, and things need clarifying, but even so.

Gnarliest Body Horror Spells in PF2e
I’m just browsing spell lists right now, and I wanted to acknowledge the fact that PF2e has some of the gnarliest, most disgusting spell effects I’ve ever seen. I mean, sure, you have your Boneshakers and your Boil Bloods, they’re impressive, but there some things that go beyond just inflicting damage in various ways and head over into full-on Akira, Parasyte, full body horror sort of territories.
(I want to clarify that I’m not being disapproving, here, I’m just in sort of horrified awe)
Under cut because body horror (for real, trigger warning, body horror):
Inside Ropes (Cantrip, Uncommon): You use your intestines as climbing ropes for you and your party. This does not harm you. Your friends can climb up your guts like ‘squishy rope’. Incredible. I have no idea why this needed to be a thing, but you do you!
Slough Skin (Level 2): You constantly slough the top layer of your skin off for an hour to get rid of contact toxins. This makes you easier to track, on account of leaving your skin lying around. Absolutely disgusting. Also, not going to lie, I would have put it here for ‘slough’ alone. It’s such a horrible word.
Teeth to Terror (Level 2, Uncommon): This is an illusion spell that makes someone (well, 1 ‘creature with teeth’) think that their teeth are falling out and crawling over their body attacking them, including trying to crawl down their throat. Why? What level of sadist are you? Good lord.
Worm’s Repast (Level 2, Rare): You seed someone’s body with flesh-eating worms. Works really well against fleshy undead, which I’m guessing was at least part of the point, but still. Wow.
Shadow Spy (Level 3): Not exactly body horror, but you make yourself a little bird homunculus with blood and dirt to spy on people, and when it comes back you break its neck and drink its blood for the information. Like. Just a little bit extra? Very blood-witchy vibes, but yeah.
Blister (Level 5): What it sounds like. You cover some poor bastard with between 1 and 4 horrific caustic blisters, and then you can magically burst them to spray people with a 15ft cone of acid, using your poor victim as a walking patient zero. This is Resident Evil sort of stuff, full bioweapon.
Blood Feast (Level 5, Uncommon): Go full Bloodborne and split your head vertically into a toothy maw to drink people’s blood, then sew your head back together like nothing happened at the end of the spell. It is very much ‘I wanted a Bloodborne spell’. Which, entirely fair.
Grisly Growths (Level 5): You cause somebody to go into basically a warp spasm where their body just starts sprouting extra limbs/organs/body parts that then rapidly rot and fall off 6 seconds later, dealing horrific damage and meaning everyone in the vicinity has to make a save or be sickened. As in the in-game status condition. People literally need to make a Will save not to have to throw up to keep functioning after what you just did. Incredible. I kinda love it.
Wall of Flesh (Level 5): What it sounds like. You make a writhing wall of flesh, on a theme of either arms, eyes, or mouths, that, and this is somehow the worst part for me, can be healed. You don’t repair this wall, you heal it. Because it’s alive. If it’s arms it’s a writhing wall of limbs that tries to grab people, if it’s eyes they can all act to give you casting line of sight, if it’s mouths it’s a fucking wall of teeth that tries to mindlessly bite things within 5ft. Also, if it’s mouths, it can drink healing potions. Because, again, alive. Just. Full-on Akira over here. Absolutely horrific. You rock up and you drop this thing on a battlefield, what the hell is anyone in range supposed to think of you?
Also, side note, 5th level is apparently the level where you get all your gnarly body horror spells, although unfortunately you can’t get all of them on the same spell list. Occult or Primal will get you almost but not quite everything. Primal will get you everything except Teeth to Terror and Blood Feast, while Occult will get everything except Slough Skin and Grisly Growths.
So. If you want to play an absolutely horrific biomancer sort of character, Pathfinder has you covered?
