Today I'm thinking about this:
Or Miki was a bot who had never been abused or lied to or treated with anything but indulgent kindness. It really thought its humans were its friends, because that’s how they treated it. I signaled Miki I would be withdrawing for one minute. I needed to have an emotion in private.
And about how Murderbot slowly starts calling its humans its friends in Exit Strategy, tentatively at first:
Were they my sort-of human friends? My clients? My ex-owners, though legally that was only Dr. Mensah. Were they going to see me and yell for help, alert security?
but also more confidently later:
Maybe that was why I had been nervous about meeting Mensah again, and not all the other dumb reasons I had come up with. I hadn’t been afraid that she wasn’t my friend, I had been afraid that she was, and what it did to me.
The only tag I can access on Ratthi is a partial that says my human friend. That’s strange and unlikely, but the pre-catastrophic-failure version of me seemed sure about it, and I don’t have anything else to go on.
and Mensah confirms this at the end of the book too:
I just want you to know you already have options here, and I expect you’ll have more offers for your services or advice as a security consultant. And that you have friends here you can discuss things with, whatever you decide to do, or wherever you decide to go.
The thought that a bot could see its humans as its friends (and because they treat it as a friend too) made Murderbot so emotional in Rogue Protocol that it needed a minute to process it. And later on in the series it starts to understand that its own humans are its friends too - and how much they care about it and that it can go to them for help if it needs them and I just. I think I need to withdraw and have an emotion about this in private too.

I just really need to point out that Charlie Slimecicle is a man KNOWN for his acting skills (In JRWI and just a multitude of videos and streams where he's created lore), his narration skills, writing skills, etc, etc.
Case and point, he managed to make thousands of people become genuinely emotionally attached to a Minecraft egg and his character of the grieving father, going through all stages of mourning and becoming murderous in his grief- in about a weeks time.
And his acting on Just Roll With It and the places where he really gets to shine through with those skills are just fucking incredible obviously.
NOW IMAGINE CHARLIE SLIMECICLE ON THE GEN LOSS SET. ON THE SET FOR AN ANALOGUE HORROR. WHERE HE CAN ACT. AND PLAY A PART IN A FUCKING AWESOME HORROR SERIES.

Soul Eater manga spoilers if you care about that.
This is a series of random screenshots (up through where I've read so far, ch. 70-something) that specifically show us certain characters' ages.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There is also a panel where Liz declares she's "two or three years older than [Black Star, Kilik, and Patty] but that's not so much what I'm focused on here.
So this is all mostly for me... But just clarifying things that are obvious in canon.
Spirit was 18 when Maka was born. Maka was born the same day the academy took in Black Star. Black Star is 13 at the start of the manga basically.
This means Maka is 13 when everything starts and Spirit is 31. Also Sid was 12(!?) when he took in Black Star.
I'd love to have more character ages, but this is what we know.

ngl I did headcanon Morf giving Rita a little kiss on the head before falling asleep at the end of episode 29. Just the way they were positioned and how Morf's hand was on Rita's head made me believe she gave Rita's head a little smooch to make it feel better ( ;∀;)

hey y'all
sorry about the recent reblogs on familial f/o stuff. rn I need it.
YES I am very aware that Alastor from Hazbin Hotel is a psychopathic killer. I still see him as a comfort character and a fictional father to me.
idk I just want him to kinda...hold me. hug me tight. hum or whisper things to me that are sweet lil things. forehead kisses. just words of affirmation rn.
Alastor save meeee—

Man. I love Pillowfort.
I love being able to have discussions with people where we don't really agree but it doesn't feel like a fight or a game of oneupmanship, and where there isn't the risk of things getting lost in the shuffle of threads and reblogs and tags.
I love being able to say everything I mean to say without having to limit my language or truncate anything and increase the risk of misunderstanding that's already inherent to text communication.
I love being able to go "No I get that, here's my reasoning, we're both right!" and not feel like I'm about to get told to kill myself.
I love being able to have a conversation without worrying about getting super triggered because ad-hominem aggression is the exact opposite of the tone of choice for users there.
I wish I knew how to get more interaction there, because it almost always feels like I'm the one starting and finishing conversations, but that's not something the platform itself can change. I wish I knew how to get more eyes on my art, because most of the people I've interacted with there with regard to my work are pretty cool and I think it'd be nice to build some deeper connections, but that's not something the platform itself can change either.
As a platform, Pillowfort is so good. It's just so sincere, it harbors such a clear opportunity to communicate with people, it doesn't reward bad actors with engagement-based boosts. The whole environment is just so good.
I really love Pillowfort.

Just so you know:
The music theme that plays at the beginning of episode 14 on Mount Tantiss, where we are shown Crosshair in captivity, is called "The Good Soldier".
And it also contains Crosshair's leitmotif, but this time it's much, much more subdued and blurry.

wait theres actual medical reasons for a nose job?
Uh, yeah? I'm sorry, were you genuinely under the impression that breaking your nose into pieces and putting it back together had only cosmetic purposes?

This scene fucks me up so much more knowing what I do now about Yosano's backstory.
The first time I watched this scene I thought the deaths she'd seen were medical related like in a hospital and from the murder cases the ADA would get. No. IT'S FROM WHEN SHE WAS ELEVEN AND KEEPING SOILDIERS FROM DYING.
The line "OUR PATIENTS' LIVES JUST SLIP THOUGH OUR FINGERS" goes hard as FUCK knowing what yosano had seen, had done.
