Love Wins All by IU (been crying over this music video for days now. it's beautiful) KinnPorsche theme by Slot Machine: Kinn's theme [aka Phiang Waichai; TH] | Porche's theme [aka Free Fall; Eng] (first of all this is one of the catchiest theme songs to exist second only to SPECIALZ aka the JJK s2 op i'm also particularly losing my mind over how the two themes are love letters to the main characters from each other... the narrative parallels of it all are driving me insane sldkhlaksjkshs) Dum Dum by Jeff Satur + the Live Unchained version where his vocals are heavenly (maybe im so drawn to this song because the chorus is similar to the melodic motifs of the KPTS themes/soundtrack, either way, the show introduced me to him and god. [Jan 22 to 28 ; week 4/52 || I. love. my. internship. like. I have been having the most fun time problem solving and troubleshooting. it's also super satisfying to see the outcome of my code. it's been a while since I used python (I've been coding on C) so I forget that python has a lot of inbuilt functions that would do the same tasks I inadvertently entrust my nested loops with, and finding out about them is always so joyous (although it means I have to scrap off several chunks of code). i am a bit annoyed though, because the other intern isn't really doing any work that we're entrusted with so I'm having to carry the team and it's taking me too much time. but oh well. I've suggested we split tasks from next week, hopefully that'll make things better.

I've also been procrastinating a lot when it comes to my masters applications and it really hit me this week when I had to run to uni several times to get things approved and completed. Now that I'll get to work from home I need to set up a proper schedule to get application work completed wayy in advance. also need to resume my GRE prep from next week.]

Sorry about the slowdown in postings...

Someone sent me a message asking about why I haven't been posting as much lately and wondering if I might be planning to abandon the blog. I am not abandoning the Day Room.

There are two reasons for the slowdown. First, it's been a heavy load for me at work lately. I work at a fairly high level of law enforcement, and with things returning to normal after Covid (or what passes for normal now) and the oncoming warmer weather, things have picked up.

Second, the software I use to upscale photos to improve the quality recently underwent a change and removed some features that were "not essential." At least that was what the company said. But I used them all the time. The process I have to go through now takes a lot more time for each image that I upscale. I am trying to find an alternative, but until then, please be patient. I will still post, but I prefer to upload better quality than to upload a lot of crap. Bear with me and I'll get it worked out.

hi, hope you don't mind me asking but how do you make gifs? what apps/programs do you use and what's the process like? i'm considering trying out gif making as a hobby but it seems so complicated. do you know any tutorials that are simple and easy to follow? your gifs are really good, i like your coloring. thank you very much in advance. ♡

Hi! Ofc I'll be happy to share 🫶✨

I'm not too familiar with photoshop so I use phone apps instead. But before that I go through the clips on my laptop. I trim the movie clips I want the gifs of to maximum 5 seconds long on filmora (i have the paid one), I export them as videos high quality as possible. The shorter the clip is, the more high quality I've noticed them to be. Move them to my phone, then I choose some app to edit the clips with, my current go to is Ton:

I just fiddle with the filters there, saving the ones that I manage to make look how I want the coloring to be and then just use that on all the clips. Then I make the clips to gifs on this app:

I just then change the speed to what I want it to be, usually to 20fps, crop it to how I want, etcetc. This time I went with 16.67fps.

I save it as a gif, as high quality as possible, but because Tumblr thinks some gifs are too big, I make sure it's not more than 10MB. I just lower the quality or compress the gifs until it fits that criteria. Tumblr compresses gifs so the quality drops a bit when I upload them, which is why I think editing on photoshop makes better quality gifs than what I do, but I like my method because it's insanely easy and let's me do it on my bathroom breaks at work, lol.

Here's a collection of environment pieces I've done throughout 2020 to 2022. They still have some of the roughness inherent to my earlier art, but I still like what I accomplished with them.

The first two were colored sketches, and both were products of me experimenting a bit with Firealpaca's tools. The first one I don't have too much to say about, aside from it being wonky and the clouds looking more like smoke. The second one has this almost dreamlike quality that I wish to recapture with my newfound knowledge someday.

The character in the third image is Floyd Maddox, another OC like Matrona who came from that old, scrapped story project. Unlike Matrona, I had the foresight to scrap Maddox earlier when I realized he wasn't going to work out.

While not one-to-one, the bridge and mountain pieces borrowed their palettes from PS1 Spyro levels--Spooky Swamp and Skelos Badlands, respectively. The latter piece holds up the best in my opinion, as it showcases a better understanding of atmospheric perspective, and I intend to reuse the method I used to set it up again in future pieces.

I'm not sure what direction I was going for with the alleyway piece; maybe I was going for that aforementioned dreamlike vibe in the second image. But the last image, depicting a supertanker at sunset, is probably the best of the bunch. Even though I wasn't trying too hard, I like how I accomplished this by making some brush strokes, duplicating the layers they were on, and playing around with the transparency of each copy. I tried this method again with the cloud piece--my last background like this for some time. I wonder how something these would look now that I've gotten over my fear of anti-aliasing.

We're starting to approach some of my most recent work now, and for that, I'll eventually start uploading pieces individually, as I have significantly more to say about my single pieces during late 2022 than I do about most that came before.

to update on my life since the last post i put up about my financial situation, i DID finally land a second job that will take me for 24 hours a week, which puts me at 56 hours a week between both jobs at 14-15/hr. it's not much, but it should at least keep me afloat, hopefully. i'm keeping up the donation post until january, because i already know i'm not going to make rent THIS month due to car troubles.

i've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and next year i want to increase my creative output. this year's wasn't *bad*, especially not for how much shit i went through and would've had every right to just do nothing but sleep and recover, but i've been fixating so hard on my OCs that at this point i want to actually have something to SHOW for it besides just private rps with the handful of people involved in their storylines.

i also want to change the way i go about it. re: feeling weirdly unfulfilled about my art and writing, i came to the realization that if someone threw all my technology into the ocean, i would have basically nothing to show for all the creative work i've done, and that disturbs me. in this day and age it's more important than ever to keep a healthy distance from technology, ESPECIALLY as an artist, so i've decided i'm gonna try drawing in physical mediums more often. i'm not the best at drawing with a pencil and paper anymore, but i'm not awful at it, so i'll at least have a nice starting point. plus, i have a printer+scanner now, so anything i want to upload can be of better quality than just my phone camera! woohoo!

i'm not sure what this means for my writing just yet... i might start trying to keep a journal again. i always feel a ton better after writing for a long time in a physical book, but my wrist tends to suffer and trying to force myself off the beaten path of my routines will never NOT be a struggle.

a lot of things are gonna feel like a struggle in 2024, due to the hours i'm gonna have to work to stay afloat, but i think i can do it. i've done way harder things than breaking routines and working on creative hobbies before, and i'll benefit from it in the long run.

next year will be better. i'm not tempting fate, i'm taking it into my own hands.

If you are willing to share your trade secrets (you don't have to) how do you make such good quality gifs?

I started making amatuer mediocre gifs through Giphy but they come out bad quality and I'd like to learn how to make better ones.

Oh geez thank you so much! Truthfully, I'm a total noob at gifmaking, that was only my second set ever. There aren't any trade secrets here, and I'm not one for gatekeeping if there were!

I do recommend Photoshop and googling the heck out of tutorials! If I can track down the one I used I'll send it to you. Also, double check size/resolution for uploading to Tumblr. And if you want to play around with the visuals, try color grading! I remember I did some color adjustments to that set.

🌓 2023 New Year Resolutions 🌗

I cleaned up the line art on the PNG! .₊̣̇.ಇ/ᐠˬ ̫ ˬ ᐟ\∫.₊̣̇.

Resolutions

Always meet my deadlines, don't hold back because of perfectionism.

This is my main resolution for 2023! I don't think I'll get my Vtuber lore video to where I want it to be in quality, but if or when that's the case, I can always release things in steps (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, etc.)!

Stick to a concrete schedule.

I have already been improving at this! I have a streaming streak of 24 days, almost a month!

Don't be afraid to take risks!

Trying new things has greatly improved my art and overall skills, but there's always that fear of change and block in my head that I have to fight.

Focus more on my physical health and set boundaries with what I eat with other people.

My constitution was really bad last year, it was the worst my health has been my entire life... so I am going to focus more on taking care of myself. Nutrient-rich foods, hydration, and regular intermittent fasting. Sometimes I will eat something that someone buys me, even if I know that my stomach can't tolerate the food or it isn't good for me. Recently, SakihataLily surprised me with a $9 half-gallon jug of chocolate milk, but my stomach isn't good with lactose but I drank it all because I didn't want it to go to waste, and then I had two days of bad stomach cramps... I think I'll learn how to set boundaries with food more, so that people know that I have to be more specific with my diet.

Make something that I can deem worthy to present on Portfolio Day.

I'm going to try to sharpen my skills with backgrounds this year. Portfolio day was yesterday, on January 10th but I didn't feel like anything I made was good enough to share, so I'm going to try harder to make more impressive portfolio pieces!

Work on not using language that puts myself down or belittles my own abilities.

I have a bad habit of saying a lot that I'm not good enough, but a lot of people compliment my abilities and a lot of people tell me regularly that they like my art and singing, so I'm going to try not to put myself now because I know that I'll always feel like I should be better, no matter what. It's the curse of perfectionism, I suppose.

I quoted the tweet in which I wrote this above, but I took more time to think about my resolutions, goals, and deadlines for the year - and I am glad that I took longer to think about what is both ideal and realistic. I'm grateful that I found a good free-to-use schedule template; it makes it easier for me. Since we're setting up the computer now, I am going to set Wednesday and Thursday aside from game dev progress and clerical work. As I've mentioned before, it is difficult for me to separate my writing brain from the more abstract art brain thinking, so it would be better this way.

I'm also not sure when I'll be able to rig my original design in Live2D. Not sure whether I will be able to do it myself, or I will have to hire someone to. But when I start streaming as my character, I will slowly transition from REALITY and take my time, so I get a better understanding of streaming on Twitch or YouTube!

Pressure Headache Relief

So, I used a 30 minute self-hypnosis meditation for pressure headaches and I was skeptical about if it would actually work, but it did. The pain in my head went away about 5 minutes before the end of the session. And this was a free-to-listen recording on YouTube! I'm glad because I really don't like taking too many pain meds!

Hii!! I’m a new reader and follower and I really enjoy your work so I wouldn’t mind reading it on AO3 or Tumblr. But, I think AO3 would be a lot easier because of better tagging and less issues overall with the hate and constant reporting. I also think there would be better feedback and discourse on AO3 since most people on there know how to behave and properly interact with authors. And it can serve as a backup blog in case you accidentally delete a work from tumblr. Hope this helps ❤️

(´｡• ◡ •｡`) ♡ First thank you for reading my works and following me ♡ And also tysm for the feedback honestly, cause I really needed to hear a second opinion on this - and feeback from readers is important to me cause it should go both ways. I’m not even sure if my work got reported or not- cause I haven’t received an email from staff about my works being flagged down, or even being told that my content is inappropriate? unless its been reviewed by them. ao3 has a much better tagging system to work with honestly. Uploading things there is a very tedious job, but at the same time really worth it - if only it included a way of interaction for authors to get comfortable with their readers though... not to mention the limitation of discourse there, mainly because people just stick to doing their own thing there yk? Another thing i like abt ao3 is the quality of the content. There is more leaning towards the plot of the story than smut; and that's what my content stands for. Not to badmouth tumblr, but it is really easy to get followers here. i was at 800 two and a half weeks ago and I just crossed 1.6k. it's to do with how often you upload things here rather than paying attention to the quality of the content that's being created. Not to mention the kind of fights authors get into with each other here, and the extent to which anons take hate is crazy. I never got subjected to it as i've usually stuck to my own blog and barely interact with anyone- but i have seen how ugly it can get cause i used to follow authors here in the past. Not to mention there is gatekeeping on both sides- authors and readers; which i'm not a fan of. And all this for what- a fictional character? Some of us are just trying to get our content out for you. Literally 'x reader' insert- for you (not to mention its for free too). and writing is also like therapy in most cases so blogs are safe spaces. The last thing anyone should bring there is discourse, arguments and correction of opinions. ao3 definitely has more civilized people tbh. And i do plan on shifting my works there cause tumblr isn't cutting for me anymore. Not to mention that i don't even get proper feeback here except from a few people when there are 1.6k followers here- So yeah I guess i'll be moving to ao3 thank you for dropping in and saying this - it really helps! ♡

#152 - THE WORLDS (M.S.S Project) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 13-10-08, Upload Date: 13-01-18

M.S.S. Project is known for playing Minecraft, but they are more of a music group, and it shows in this opening theme to their gameplay videos. Three of their songs are in this list, so I will tell their story in these parts. But the song is not that bad.

#153 - glow (keeno) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 13-10-20, Upload Date: 10-06-28

There’s a lot of arrangements, but the base song is good. Keeno’s iconic soft tuning of Miku makes the agonizing lyrics that more painful and the song is simple but well-established enough that you can hear the different arrangements.

#154 - Moon-Viewing Recital (Jin) [IA]

Achievement Date: 13-10-22, Upload Date: 13-07-02

About the boy who lost faith and a girl who wants to bring it back. I think it’s better of the idol songs in Kagerou Project, and mainly due to the more relatable lyrics and better instrumentation. Jin’s IA is still too quiet to sell the idol image, however.

#155 - paranoia (Tsunamaru) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 13-10-29, Upload Date: 12-03-13

The quiet neo-classical trance makes the song have this mystic quality, which I really like. Kind of an underrated classic in this list. I’ll keep the review short here.

#156 - Your Diva (azuma) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 13-11-01, Upload Date: 07-09-18

We return to ‘Miku introduction’ songs with one of the oldest songs on this list. Nothing home to write about and I don’t even know if the producer still works… fun fact - the song was used as an ending to a NHK show about the internet. Fitting.

#157 - Crazy ∞ nighT (HitoshizukuP, Yama)

[MEIKO, KAITO, Miku, Rin, Len, Luka, Gakupo, GUMI]

Achievement Date: 13-11-12, Upload Date: 12-07-18

Second of the nighT series. A bit fuller and happy than the original. Kind of the reversal of the original but with a twist in the end. It’s not better or worse, just a variation.

#158 - Outer Science (Jin) [IA]

Achievement Date: 13-11-17, Upload Date: 13-08-31

The ending of the Kagerou Project, or least the bad end. As it stands, the song leans towards dark and synth-heavy. IA finally sings a bit here, showing a bit of a loud and high soaring tone that she would be more famous for later down the line.

#159 - What Do You Mean?! (KuchibashiP) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 13-11-28, Upload Date: 11-01-13

Kuchibashi-P is one of those one-hit wonder producers, but you know there is always that ‘second hit’ for these people, and this ‘soon-to-be-copied-as-Turing-Love’ song is that for him. Some say it was a well-made MMD that did it and… I guess so.

#160 - Envy Cat Walk (Tohma) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 13-11-28, Upload Date: 11-10-22

I think Tohma is an odd one out of all the major producers of the era, but this song is the most well-known from him. While Tohma’s song has no real throughline, the theme is follows as it’s about a prostitute. Mix of English and odd tuning make this stand out.

#161 - Summertime Record (Jin) [IA]

Achievement Date: 13-12-16, Upload Date: 13-09-12

The overall ending theme to the Kagerou Project, and while it isn’t listened to as much as other songs, it is still considered the most well-liked of Kagerou Project. The song that screams summer and probably a good transition to the King of IA.

#162 - Donut Hole (hachi) [GUMI]

Achievement Date: 13-12-25, Upload Date: 13-10-28

As the name suggests, a general song about the emptiness one feels about life, could be just a person or a memory, or could be something grander. Probably Hachi at its most commercial and the transition from Hachi to Kenshi Yonezu.

#163 - Yesterday Evening (Jin) [IA]

Achievement Date: 13-12-27, Upload Date: 13-08-04

The summer festival song set way before the final two songs. Kind of the poppy version of Summertime Record set in a different moment of happiness. Kind of reminiscent of the HoneyWorks songs that would dominate later parts of this list. (But better.)

Alex Quackity x Reader, Oneshot!

Warnings: None! Just some fluff.

Summary: Unable to fall asleep, you reach out to a friend in order to help ease you into peaceful slumber.

The seconds are passing quickly, 1am turns to 2am, and it doesn't take long for 3am to hit. Stirring around in bed doesn't make the restlessness stop, the little sheeps jumping around your head fall and get back up, attempting once again to lure you to sleep, but it doesn't work. You find yourself staring up at your ceiling, hands resting on your stomach. There is a stinging in your eyes that lets you know you are indeed tired, yet when your eyes finally close, they can't seem to stay that way. These restless nights had been going on for a while, yet you didn't want to be a bother and reach out to any of your friends. Who knew if they were either sleeping or had better things to do. You wouldn't be finding out any time soon. But.. perhaps tonight it wouldn't hurt to reach out. You felt lonely just staring up at your ceiling, and your own thoughts were eating up at you, making the restlessness feel even worse.

You reach out for your phone, turning it on and immediately being blinded by the bright light. Once your eyes became accustomed to the light, you opened messages and took a glance at all the people you had sent some to. A certain someone definitely caught your eye, but you really weren't sure if he'd be up, considering some days he'd wake up super early. He was a busy man, and fitting into his schedule could be a bit difficult. After some thought and the skin of your bottom lip slowly being bitten off, there was a single message sent.

It was too late to consider his possible sleeping state or the embarrassment that might overtake you in the morning when you get a text with something along the lines of "i was asleep. sorry". You run a hand down your face, deciding to accept your fate and that your luck ran out. Perhaps you'd go back to counting sheep.

The notification casted a bright light on your face, but this time it was welcome. Your finger quickly clicked on it, taking you to the message app.

"i don't know." you said out loud as you read the message. "i really don't know.." a small frown appeared on your lips as you texted back:

The message caught you by surprise. Of course you had talked to him on the phone before, but never this late. Never without it being planned beforehand. Never this sudden. Not because you couldn't sleep. Millions of thoughts rushed through your head as you stared at the message. call me. How could one possibly say no to that?

You cleared your throat before pressing on his contact and clicking on the call button. Soon enough, the sound of ringing could be heard, and you held your breath. Of course, he would answer, but you couldn't help the nervous feeling of talking to him this late, and just.. randomly.

"hello?"

Your breath hitched slightly at the sudden halt of the ringing, and the smooth sound of his voice. It didn't sound like it usually did. His voice wasn't full of energy, like it is when he's screaming at his screen or joking around with friends. It was calm, and sounded like he was a bit tired. Who could blame him? He was up editing at 3 in the morning. And here you were, making him talk on the phone rather than encouraging he get some sleep.

"Hi.." you said as a small smile formed on your lips at the thought of how hardworking this man was. "How's the editing going?"

"Mm.. it's going pretty well. I'll probably upload it by tomorrow. I'm planning on just working on it for a bit more before heading to bed." He stated, to which you let out a small hum, "That's good. It's important that you get your rest."

Now it was his turn to let out a small hum of approval. "What's keeping you up?" He asked. You closed your eyes, letting his voice ring and echo inside your head, letting the calmness his voice carried take over you, making you feel calm as well. "To be honest, I don't know. Whenever I close my eyes I just can't seem to doze off."

"Well, do you wanna keep me company while I finish editing? We can talk about random stuff until I bore you enough for you to knock out."

His words made you let out a small chuckle, shaking your head before realizing he couldn't see you. "You could never bore me." You admitted, thinking about his previous words for a few seconds. "That sounds good, actually. If you don't mind.."

"I offered it, didn't I?"

You hum in response. "True.. its settled then."

He let out a small chuckle in response, and the sound alone made you smile. You took a moment to really think about what was happening. You'd keep each other company until either he finished or his soft voice lulled you to sleep, and you'd talk about random stuff. It was a sweet deal.

As you lay in bed, you could hear the clicking sounds his keyboard made when he typed or when he'd move his mouse around while editing the clips. During small moments of peaceful silence, you could hear his steady breathing or light humming.

You'd asked how his day was and listened as he talked about how busy he'd been lately, some of the stuff he had planned for the upcoming month, and how his hard work would let him relax for a few days.. soon. Just hearing how hard he was working and how genuinely excited he sounded about everything he talked about made a warm feeling appear on your chest.

You gave small comments here and there, asking if he could expand on certain projects that caught your attention, as well as asking how he was keeping up with school work. He gladly answered all your questions, but always made sure to ask, "What about you?"

You hadn't noticed that it was mostly him talking, besides your occasional comment. You were just happy to listen to him speak so passionately about everything he did, and to be completely honest, the calm tone in his voice was also making you feel sleepy.

But you'd never deny that it made you feel so.. included. Yes, this was a 1 on 1 call but he always managed to make you feel like your inputs mattered just as much as everyone else's. It was one of his qualities that you adored wholeheartedly.

It could be during a stream, a group call, or even group chat. He always made sure that everybody felt included. He was just that sweet.

So even if you were now half asleep, you always made sure to respond and also tell him how your day went and what you had been up to. It was nice just being able to talk about simple things like that with him so late.

"I think I'm gonna stop editing for tonight. Just have a few things left but fuck, my eyes are killing me." He finally stated after a questionable discussion.

"As you should. You work too hard.. give your eyes a well deserved rest." You said, slightly rubbing at your eyes. The faint sound of shuffling and a few clicks could be heard, presumably him turning off his PC and heading to his bed.

A few more shuffling sounds could be heard before he spoke again. "I know. Thank you, Y/N. You always remind me how important it is that I take care of myself." The smile was evident in his voice, and he sounded way closer than before.

"Of course.. that's what I'm here for."

"I'll remind you too. Don't worry."

"Thank you, Alex." Small pause. "Are you gonna head to bed now?" You looked at how long the call had been going for and realized it had been well over an hour, making your eyes widen slightly.

"I could. Orrrr I could keep talking to you."

"You could.. but you should also head to bed and-"

"I'm already in bed. Got my blankets covering me and everything. Tucked in."

"Did you tuck yourself in? I should do it for you next time." You joked, before realizing you might have overstepped some boundaries. You froze as the call remained silent for a bit.

"Maybe you should– But you're not really down."

Your body relaxed as you realized his response had the same joking tone as yours did, and that it was okay to joke around about this stuff. You let out a small scoff.

"I'm not down? I will gladly go tuck you in. Just send your location and I'll be there in 5 minutes."

His voice had gotten raspy, quieter, and even more soothing if even possible. Each of his responses seemed to calm you more and more with each passing second.

"Well I'm already tucked in so you missed out on that opportunity." He boldly stated.

"We could tuck each other in next time." You said with a smile on your lips, and that earned a small chuckle from him. "Maybe." He hummed in response.

You felt so elated at that moment. You'd had a wonderful conversation with Alex, and he'd managed to make you feel more relaxed. At that moment, you found your eyelids fluttering shut, and at last they didn't force themselves open again.

Alex had been trying to get comfy himself while you were falling asleep. When he realized the silence had gone on for too long, he listened closely for any sound coming from you, and was only met with steady breaths.

"Y/N..?" He asked, quietly this time. Nothing. He let out a small hum, a small smile on his lips at the realization that you had fallen asleep. "Goodnight, Y/N."

"We weren't supposed to wake up so early since we were given protocol to wake up much, much more later but, ever since the secret project stopped getting its funding from the government. We woke up, Danny being the first and Spongebob being the last to wake up. When we did, we were disoriented; confused even and hate to admit it, scared but, soon we started to thrive and learn as much as we could.

And now, here we are. Alive, breathing and thinking whilst the other toons remain in a stasis mode for who knows how long till they too awaken from their cold slumber, " -Jimmy.

Okay so, here is some more lore behind that au that you guys seemed interested in. I wasn't expecting it to get so much attention but, thank you for that! I appreciate it. The first question; yes, other Nicktoons other than the main four do exist in this au but, most are either in stasis mode in their chamber rooms or hidden away somewhere in the lab going unnoticed or encountered frequently from time to time.

Second question; how old are each of the toons in order? Danny is the oldest since he woke up from his chamber first then came Jimmy and then Timmy and lastly, Spongebob making the Spongeboy the youngest of the group.

Third question; who's role is who?

Danny is the alpha, aka the self-proclaimed leader of the group and he takes his responsibility of keeping the said group safe and protected from harm's way very seriously. He often stays up late to watch over them as they sleep at night. The bags under his eyes are a dead giveaway to this.

Jimmy is the medic and the brain of the team. He is in charge of collecting medicine and other things to keep at their main base in case if any of them get sick or hurt one day and also provides the answers to everyone's questions if asked.

Timmy is well, I am not sure of his status of the team yet other than a gatherer but, he is mostly moody and keeps to himself most of the time.

He helps gather supplies and items as well as Spongebob, whom aids him on these gathering sessions, whenever Danny instructs them to in case if they run low on supplies and that they needed more. Of course, half of the time, this means sneaking out of the lab and into the streets to collect said items despite Danny's warnings. With Timmy often saying; "what's the worse that could happen?"

Spongebob is the heart of the team. Often finding himself breaking up more fights than he can count to keep the peace. He is usually very friendly, outgoing and oftentimes; very naive. Being the youngest of the group, he is the one that everyone is protective of and would be lost without him. He holds them together like wood and glue.

If LU was an anime (VA headcanons)

Okay so! A while back I uploaded a video (which you can find here) giving the LU boys voice actors. And in the description of said video, I promised that I was going to post a list of explanations for my voices and link it. Which I am only doing now.

These choices, bar a few, are my own personal opinion, so I'd love to hear your thoughts about them! I spent far to long working and watching anime for this but I am pretty happy with the end result, bar one (glares at Four). So I hope you enjoy! And prepare yourself. Cause this is LONG.

Legend - Vic Mignoga (Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

So fun fact. Back when I first discovered LU, I almost immediately imaged Leg with this voice. He had strong Ed vibes for me and when I started making this list, he was the only one I immediately knew was perfect. At least to me. It just has that quality; the snark with the capability of being genuine and emotional (I do apologise if the voice clips I included in the video made you sad. That's a hazard of FMA). I didn't consider anyone else for Legend, even though I did briefly consider Vic Mignoga for Warriors (more on that later).

Sky - Aleks Le (Zenitsu Agatsuma from Demon Slayer)

Man, I considered a fair few KnY voices for this list, including the voice of Tanjiro for Wild and the voice of Giyu for Twilight. But this is the one that stuck. I was struck between Sky having a youthful, soft voice or an older, soft voice (I knew his voice had to be soft. I mean. It's Sky.)

I watched the dub of Demon Slayer solely for this and it never would've occurred to me to consider Zenitsu's voice for Sky. But as the show progressed and I heard it when he wasn't... you know... begging some poor lass to marry him, I realised he actually has quite a soft voice. And when I heard it get all serious I thought "Yep. That works." And thus I placed Aleks Le as the Chosen Hero. You could argue that his voice is a bit too youthful for him but I still think it works.

Wind - Amanda Miller (Boruto from Boruto: Naruto Next Generations)

Ugh. Ugh. *increasing sounds of disgust*. I hate this.

But let's start from the beginning. Right off the bat, I was 99.9% sure Wind would be voiced by a woman. Okay so he's not 10 (that will make more sense in a second), but he's still pretty young and I imagine him with quite a youthful voice. For him, I considered Sarah Natochenny, the current voice of Ash Ketchum in Pokémon, and also Colleen Clickenbeard's voice for Monkey D. Luffy in One Piece. But these two voices shared the same problem. They were too raspy. I just cannot see Wind with a raspy voice. I guess if you really, really, really focus on it it could work but I just could get it to work for me hfff.

And then... ugh. I spoke to a mate about. He doesn't know about LU so I just told him I was making voice headcanons and couldn't think of a good one for a 14 year old boy. And he said "have you heard Boruto's English voice?" And I think my response was something along the lines of, "Ben, I have standards." But he insisted it would probably work so I watched a clip of Boruto on YouTube and much to my horror, it did seem to work. But there was problem. None of the clips had lines I could picture Wind saying. And because of that I was struggling to actually give Wind the voice. But something told me that it was the right one so... I... *shudders*... watched Boruto. I watched I think 5 full episodes before I had no more braincells and skipped thorough a bunch more and sure enough, I could finally see Wind with that voice. I think it fits him great and it honestly might be my favourite choice just because I had to watch that nightmare.

Hyrule - Justin Briner (Izuku Midoriya from My Hero Academia)

Ah. This one is much more pleasant. First of all, I never realised this at first but Midoriya and Hyrule are kind of similar. For one thing, they do kinda look alike. And for another they have the same "I will never give up" kinda thing going on.

Roolie is another one I knew would have a soft voice. I think Justin Briner was always down as a choice for him, except for when I briefly considered him for Four (more on that later *big sigh*). This is another anime I watched the dub for solely for this and there were a ton of lines right from the get go I could instantly imagine Roolie saying. So yeah. Aside from the tiny moment I almost assigned Justin Briner to Four, this was a pretty easy one. Midoriya has a soft voice that I could easily imagine Hyrule having. And when he got angry and his voice got harsher, I could also easily see Roolie like that too. Fun fact: there's another BNHA voice on this list... heh.

Wild - Michael Sinternklaas (Dagger from Black Butler)

AW YEAH. YOU HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH BRITISH BOI.

Ahem. Anyway. Yes Wild is British. Everyone rejoice. I was unsure of how people would react to this but I think this is the only voice on the list everyone agreed on. Which I'm happy about.

As I mentioned, I considered the English voice of Tanjiro (Zach Aguilar) for Wild. There were issues with this; mainly that it was too soft, too young, and made him sound too similar to Sky. Now here's the thing. I WANTED to give Wild a English accent. I am almost certain he would have one, like most people. However the only anime I could think of with decent English accents was Black Butler (and yes I know his final voice is from it, bear with me) and there was a problem with that. Most of the voices from Black Butler are ridiculously posh. Now you may be thinking "But Kai, Zelda has a posh English accent" and to that I would say "Ah yes but she's a princess and Wild is not". And now you might be thinking "But Kai, he's a knight an probably spent a lot of time in a place with posh English accents". To which I would say "But he wasn't always". Two words. Hateno Village.

Let me explain.

I feel like a lot of people hear the words 'English accent' and immediately think of an accent like Zelda's (and no, I am not saying everyone does and I'm also not implying that there aren't people out there who aren't British and know that there are multiple accents). Anyway, English accents are different depending on the place. And, since one can assume Wild is from Hateno Village, I would imagine their accent is different to that of those born in Castle Town. So that's why I was reluctant to give Wild a voice from Black Butler. Because all the voices that weren't insanely fancy were either far too old or did not have the right vibe.

Then one day, taking a break from this, I was watching season 3 of Black Butler (one of the only anime I watch dubbed) and I heard two voices that I suddenly thought, hang on just a second. One of those was the voice of Ronald Knox, who's a grim reaper. And the other, of course, was Dagger. I was leaning towards Dagger and what sold me was one scene in particular, which I chose as the final voice clip for Wild (you cannot tell me that is not exactly something he would say). And that was it. But Wild's was easily one of the most frustrating (not the most *glares at Four again*).

Time - David Matranga (The Father from Wolf Children)

Another tough one and also one I heavily considered for Twilight (for obvious reasons). Time's was kind of tricky because I knew I wanted it to be deep but there's such of variety of deep voices. At one point I even considered dumping the deep voice idea because it was so hard. It was a this time I thought of the voice of space cowboy extraordinaire, Spike Spiegel. But my brain said "hell no". There were other voices I considered for him, loads of which I cannot find the notes for and another one which will likely appear in part two as another character (no spoilers), but when I was picking a voice for Twi, some of the lines the father said just kept ringing big old Time vibes with me. So in the end, I decided to for it. Like I said, I imagine time with a deep voice and while to father's might be a bit more... gravelly (?) than I imagined, I think it fits him pretty well. It's serious and mature but still a certain kindness I'd imagine Time's voice to have.

Warriors - Johnny Yong Bosch (Ichigo Kurosaki from Bleach)

Don't lie. You knew Johnny Yong Bosch was gonna be on here and not just because I put his name (albeit spelled incorrectly) in the thumbnail. When I started making this, I knew I wanted to fit JYB into it. In my mind, LU would be an amazing anime and almost all amazing anime have Johnny Yong Bosch in it.

Now, I spent a lot of time trying to figure out whether he would be better for Wars or Twi. At one point I was convinced he would be best for Twi and that's when I briefly thought about Vic Mignoga for Warriors (his voice for Tamaki Suoh from Ouran High School Host Club. Don't tell me Tamaki and Wars aren't at least a tiny bit similar). But I could bear to part with Vic for Legend so I decided heck it, Johnny is Warriors and I'll find someone else for Twi later. As for the voice in particular, the two voices I considered for Twi definitely did not fit Wars. And then I remembered Bleach and immediately I thought "Yep. That's the one". I imagine Warriors having an authoritative voice, not too deep and very... uh... I don't know the right word. Clean sounding? Anyway, Ichigo just seemed to fit nicely and thus it was so.

Four - Micah Solusod (Yukine from Noragamai)

Ugh. UGH. Okay. This is my least favourite. Four was, excuse my French, A FUCKING NIGHTMARES. There was not ONE SINGLE VOICE that seemed to work for him at all. I watched a bit of the Noragmai dub because I was thinking about Yato's voice for someone (I can't remember who. It might have been Wild) and I heard Yukine's and decided to put it into reserve. As in, my last resort. And I had to use it. Oh my god Four. I love you but your voice is literally a nightmare. Is it high? Is it low? Is it young sounding? Surprisingly grown up sounding? I DON'T FREAKING KNOW.

I mentioned earlier that I considered Justin Briner for him. I was thinking about his voice for Luck from Black Clover, which may have honestly worked a bit better, but I was pretty attached to Justin as Roolie by this point. So I had to whip out Micah.

Let me be clear. No, I do not think this works well at all. I appreciate the people who tried to see that good in it, but I honestly just don't think it works. The only reason I went for it is because Yukine's voice switches between older sounding and younger sounding throughout the show and since I could decide what Four's would sound like I said to myself "Fine. Four can be the same", found some clips, slapped it together and never looked back.

I am still looking for another voice for Four and if I find a decent one, I will include it in part two.

And last but not least...

Twilight - Aaron Mitchell Dismuke (Tamaki Amajiki - My Hero Academia)

Told ya there was another BHNA voice.

So Twi was another tricky one. As I mentioned, I was seriously considering Johnny Yong Bosch for him. More specifically, his voices for Giyu Tomioka from Demon Slayer and Kiba from Wolf's Rain (for obvious reasons). I did almost go for Kiba but something was stopping me. I'm honestly not sure what.

So I was talking to a mate (and by that I mean I rambled. A lot) about VA's and at one point he suggested Aaron Mitchell Dismuke but not for Twilight. I can't actually remember who he suggested it for but anyway, that didn't work out. But when I was looking through his work, I saw that we played Amajiki and I was curious. I listened to him and I liked it.

Okay to be fair I wanted a country accent for Twi. Of course I did. But I could not a find a decent one. They few I found were absolutely terrible. So I gave up on that and decided that was Amajiki. And that was that.

And that concludes the Links VA headcanons! I am happy with most of them and once more these are my opinion but I would love to hear your own ideas!

As I have said many times, I am working on a part two and as a sneak peak (sort of) I'll tell you two of the characters that will be featured (excluding Four, if I find him another voice).

Dink (even though he hasn't, technically shown up yet) and Malon (which is proving to be a lot tricker than I thought). There a couple more but my lips are sealed heh.

Oh and speaking of Dink, the voice I considered for Time and then thought it would be better for someone else? Yeah that's the voice that's currently in the lead to be Dink's :)

The Short Lived Golden Age of Nerdy Web Shows

There was a time between the years of, let's say, 2007 to 2015 that I like to call the golden age of nerdy web shows. It consisted of a lot of small low to no budget productions that had a lot of heart, the kind you just don't see very often anymore for some reason. Many of these show have found a dedicated home on streaming services like The Fantasy Network, some have even gained enough steam to be featured on big name services like Netflix and Amazon like The Guild and LARPs The series respectively. I'm not exactly sure why the web show trend died out so hard, maybe the crowds just aren't there for them anymore like they use to be with some many pieces of high budget productions on streaming services vying for their attention. Every once and a while I'll jump onto Google to try and find new web shows that have that same heart and feel but rarely if ever do I come up with anything. As far as I can tell the only place new nerdy low to mid budget web shows or films gets any attention is at GenCon or small streaming services like The Fantasy Network. Who knows if there will ever be another nerdy heartfelt web show created that captures the spirit of those old series I hold so dear to my heart, but regardless if it happens or not I'd like to bring some attention to a few of my favorites. They may be old by the standards of the internet and maybe even cheesy by today's standards, but I really think they were something special and if you give them a shot maybe you'll think so too. If you have any others that you think would fit in with shows like this feel free to let me know.

The Gamers: Hands Of Fate

Zombie Orpheus Entertainment use to be one of my favorite channels for nerdy fantasy related content back in the day. You could always see the quality and passion that they put into every piece of content they out out on their channel. They're still around today but they've shifted their focus to other ventures such as the ever popular trend of live streaming table top games rather then making scripted content. That being said their old stuff is still well worth a watch and The Gamers series, particularly The Gamers: Hands of Fate, is some of their best work they’ve ever put out. The series centers around a group of table top gamers(the same that can be found in most of the other The Gamers creations by ZOE), particularly the character by the name of Cass, as he steps into the world of one extremely popular card game hopes of impressing a woman who's a huge fan of it. But this is seemingly simple premise is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this series. The show also features a secondary narrative that involves the characters that actually exist in the card game as as the players decisions in the real world effect their lives and leads one character, Buckstahue(not sure if I’m spelling that right), in particular to start questioning what mysterious forces are controlling their lives. The show is a real treat filled with twists and turns I never saw coming, it's fascinating seeing how the real world actions of this card game effects the card characters lives as well as question if and when Buckstahue will figure out what strings control her actions. The stories surrounding the other characters in the party might not be as engaging but they are by no means a weak point of the series either, many of their subplots are engaging in their own rights and pay off certain character moments established in proper The Gamers creations. If this peaks your interest then the series can still be found on Zombie Orpheus's Youtube channel or as a movie on The Fantasy Network. ZOE had pivoted more towards live streaming as opposed to the scripted content of their past but I'd love to see more content from The Gamers one day. Source

LARPs The Series

LARPs The Series first premiered at GenCon 2014 and took home the award for Best Independent Series. The year after it was picked up by Geek and Sundry as a part of a push for more scripted content on the channel which was where I and many others first got a chance to watch it. When the short trailer for popped up on the G&S channel everything about it screamed that I was absolutely going to love it, and I wasn’t wrong. The series centers around a 4 man party of larpers (AKA Live Action Role Players) by the names of Will, Brittany, Arthur and Sam and their DM (Dungeon Master) Evan as we follow their lives in and out of the game. The show is surprisingly heartfelt and sympathetic towards the characters involved in this often misunderstood and mocked hobby as it shows how larping enriches their often turbulent lives and connects them all as friends on a deep and meaningful level. These characters felt real and you really rooted for them as they deal with, work, relationships and the many other hurtles of adult life as they wait eagerly to gear up for whatever peril might befall them in their next campaign session. The show was also pretty hilarious, seeing them play out classic predicaments that any party, whether they be larpers or table top roleplayers, have experienced such as one player trying to roll to kill a tavern owner or romances between PCs were always a joy to watch unfold. Another thing that most will notice right away is how the production value and direction are surprisingly astounding as well, especially in season 2. I was shocked by just how much quality was put into the show from the costumes and sets as well as from a writing standpoint. If you're interested in checking out the show then it can be found on Amazon Prime but they can also still be viewed for free on YouTube or in The Fantasy Network. Beanduck, the production company behind LARPs The series, is working towards a funding campaign in hopes of earning enough to produce a third season so if you have any spare change you might want to toss it their way in support. Regardless if you decide to help or not, LARPs The Series is a show that I think any nerdy individual will enjoy. Source

Glitch

Glitch was another show produced by the team over at Zombie Orpheus Entertainment, but it never seemed to get the same kind of love as many of their other productions. The concept was brilliant: What if one day you woke up and found out your life operated on the logic of video games? Well this is the predicament that a programing temp nicknamed Glitch finds himself in. Most episodes of the show centered around particular game mechanics causing problems in his and his friends lives and how he tries to figure out ways to work around or fix problems they've created. Glitch, Wyatt and Samus were all fantastic characters and it was always fun seeing Glitch trying to work through some real world problem with game logic like trying to flirt with a woman he likes using a conversation wheel like in Mass Effect or figuring out how to "defeat" his boss at work who he see's as an actual game boss. Another thing I liked about the show was how the characters really felt like real people I knew, they played games on the couch, debated about which Sci-Fi starship captains were the best, and they grilled each other in nerdy ways while working in slang from their favorite bits of nerd culture into their daily vocabulary. I always hoped that ZOE would eventually put out a second season but unfortunately for whatever reason that never became a reality. Now days the channel that originally hosted Glitch has changed their name to Burger Orchard and rarely if ever uploads anything, but luckily those original episodes of Glitch can still be found on their. Give it a watch, it's short but sweet and if you really enjoyed the show a lot there are little companion shorts that can also be found on the channel. Source

The Street Fighter

The Game Station was an early find for me back in my early college days, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I shaved away many hours watching all kinds of gaming related content on that channel instead of studying for exams. One production, created by one of the channels founders Layne Pavoggi, which came out in late 2011 and was a cut above much their already fantastic content was a short lived series was called The Street Fighter. The series centered around a single dad by the name of Phil who has just lost his job and decides to take up a short career as a professional Street Fighter player to provide for his son as well as keep his mind off of the stressful and highly competitive job market. This a real underdog story that’s extremely reminiscent of old sports 80s films where the protagonist has everything working against them, with that being said you might think that such a trope filled narrative would make things a little predictable and you wouldn’t be wrong but there’s still plenty to love since this concept has really never been explored with videogame to my knowledge. Phil is a guy you’d be hard pressed not to warm up to, especially when you see him interacting with his preteen son Ryan or his best friend/semi love interest Camile (played by former All That star and all around spectacular person Lisa Foiles). Seeing him trying to make his way into the job market, taking odd jobs here and there just to try and get by while also playing Street Fighter to destress and become better for the sake of winning a competition for money to support his son really makes to root for him through all of it. One aspect of the show that I really this is fantastic is how it feels truly authentic to the FGC (Fighting Game Community) when it comes to talking about all of the technical aspects of play Street Fighter on a competitive level. There are moments when Phil goes into detail about his “bread and butter” combos or talks about different strategies when it comes to taking on different characters compared to his main. The show was short lived but it can still be found on The Game Stations channel, if you’re looking for a heartfelt underdog story then I highly recommend giving The Street Fighter a shot. Source

Versus Valerie

Versus Valerie is a bit of series finale for a fictional character created by Hannah Spear for the character more commonly known as the Sexy Nerd Girl on her YouTube channel. Even if you didn't watch the characters vlogs over the years leading up to the web series I still think you'll find something to enjoy in this extremely charming show. It centers around Valerie Lapomme, the titular Sexy Nerd Girl, as she lives life hanging out with with her best friend Guy, shopping for comic books, going on dates, vlogging, and trying to make something of herself as a mid 20 something living in Toronto. The brilliant thing about this series is how each episode is structured like or makes homage to popular shows, films and games such as Star Wars, Doctor Who, Memento, and The Matrix just to name a few. On top of that the show is surprisingly well produced and written for something that spawned from a fictional vlog series, Valarie and Guy are much more fleshed out and all the characters including them have some really fantastic character arcs and moments in the show. Valerie’s awkwardness and extremely nerdy imagination felt embracingly relatable to me personally since I often imagine different situations in my life in relation to my own nerdy fandoms. What I was often taken aback by when I first watched the show years ago was just how enjoyable all of the episodes were in their own special way, and the pay off of it all really feels like a proper satisfying ending to the strange and imaginative journey we’ve been on with Valerie. If it peaks your interest at all then you can still find the full series on the Veruse Valerie YouTube channel as well as some of the vlogs prior to the series on the Sexy Nerd Girl channel as well. It’s well worth a viewing and aside from the fantastic lead characters of Guy and Valerie the show also managed to grab Mark Meer as a supporting character, aka the voice of COMMANDER MOTHER F^*$(^% SHEPARD BABY!!! Why you don't need WinRar on Windows 11

Let's find out what analog you can use instead of buying paid WinRar.

Why is it so popular?

It has been long time and a lot of Windows users got used to this application a lot. Since filesharing sites epoch, you know - those that let you upload a file up to 100 mb and then asking for a money to download it in higher speeds. I guess we all are happy that those sites are almost not used now during to clouds and the free space in clouds also has grown up to 50GB on some services and even more!

Though this doesn't mean that you don't need to be able to open archives in different formats nowadays. So, unfortunately, a lot of cloud shared files or old music archives that you probably have somewhere are in RAR format.

Is this format obsolete? Well, yes and no. This archiver is not Free and even if you can use it without any limitations to open files and just ignore the 40 day expired trial warning, it is almost ok, but that means that you actually do illegal thing! So, that means that you should decide if you want to buy WinRar or no after 40 days of usage, and, if you decided not to buy - just uninstall it. This will give you karma.

So, as it goes to the RAR format, it is old but WinRar is always updated and there are new formats available now - RAR4 and RAR5 (RAR5 is actually RAR4, which was old and replaced and renamed to RAR4).

Free analog

And that means that you actually need WinRar... or wait a minute - isn't there a free software to open all these stuff? Well, actually it is and for some reason reason many people don't know about it. It is called 7-zip (seven zip) and can be downloaded on official site.

So, I suggest to download the stable version though if you want to have more format support it is definitely better to download the newest possible.

Look, it even has version for Mac OS X! But it is only console version (on the screenshot). If you want GUI version, you can go ahead with Keka

It is the same 7zip console version that just has beautiful interface.

So, is 7zip better than WinRar? It is actually a difficult question, on the one side we have opensource archiver which will not have any problems with support as any developer can take the source code and compile a new archiver app. But on the other hand we have pros of WinRar - nice icons (custom themes can be downloaded) and the most important - performance. Well, 7zip is effective but slower than WinRar, but does it really matter today, when HDD prices are too low? Probably not, at least if you create backups a lot and open a lot of rar archives. This is not the case of most of the users today.

And about compression, let's perform a test: download the world's largest text file - "Leo Tolstoi - Wolrd and War" and try to archive it.

So, the original file size was 3.6 MB, and default zipped file is 1.4 MB, which is the worst out of the archivers. For 7zip filesize on Ultra comression is 1 MB, so we gain almost 4 times for disk space here. And rar4 and rar size is almost the same, it differs only in few kilobytes and actually the size of 7z is the smallest here, though the difference between 7z and rar4 is just a 70 KB, it is not the main pros for the WinRar - let's say we compress 460 MB of text files with 7zip. It took 1 minute and 08 seconds for me to add text files to archive. Result file was 1.6 MB. But WinRar with rar4 compressed the same directory just in a 3-5 seconds! Blazing fast, and the size was 2.3 MB. Slightly more, but much much faster.

Conclusion

WinRar pros:

Fast

Pretty icons

Everybody get used to it

Opens pretty much every archive formats

WinRar cons:

Not free

No binary for linux/mac

Can't create archives in xz, tar and etc.

7zip pros:

Free (Open Source project)

Opens a lot of formats (including rar)

Can create linux format archives

Available on Linux and Mac (as a p7zip packages for each distro)

High compression rate

7zip cons:

Can't create rar archive

Slower compression/decompression speeds

Summary: WinRar is good when you use it a lot for purpose (creation of archives). But if you are just a casual computer user and surfing internet it is better to use 7zip because it is free and powerful.

P.S:

Not all the files are compressed equally well. The best compression is done for text files, but if you will try to compress a docx file - the size of result will be the same because docx is actually a zip archive (really, just open it with 7zip). Also, video, audio and pictures (jpg) also have their own compression applied already, so adding them to a rar/7zip archive will do nothing for them. Though, for example, TIFF files can be well compressed to rar/7z with lossless quality (it is good for high resolution scans - saving space and not losing quality).

P.S.S:

And for experiment purpose I'll write here my configuration: Ryzen 5900x (stock) with DRAM 2666mHz (stock) and all the actions were done in a ramdisk, so we don't have a disk bottleneck in this experiment and also I created the archive 2 times. When Windows reads a file for the first time and if there is some room in RAM, the file will be COPIED to RAM and the second read of the same file will be done directly from RAM. That means that you DO really use all of your PC ram, so more ram is always better.
