The Sims 2. SMOOTH. NO PINK FLASHING. NO CRASHING. In 2022.

Hi again Simmers!

Last year (2022) I am really frustrated about running TS2 in my new computer. Short story: as many of you, I can't play normally.

Today I had an idea: a dedicated hard drive only to play safely the game. Installing a Windows 7 2021 Edition (it can be installed in new machines with UEFI) in a new hard drive and later installing The Sims 2 in this hard drive with Windows 7 2021 Edition.

One computer. Two OS. One with Windows 7 to play The Sims 2 and another with Windows 11 for the rest. Only booting the computer with Windows 7 when I want to play the game.

I will try this option next days. Has anyone tried it before?

2 days later...

I did it... and it is working. My game is working as old good times finally. Smooth. No pink flashing. No crashing. And finally I can "play" this damn beautiful game -or (rather) toy- again.

Ok, so since upgrading to Windows 11 my game gives me error 16 with every single save I attempt. This is a real problem. I’ve rarely encountered error 16 prior to upgrading to Windows 11.

Now, I love the way windows 11 looks so downgrading is nog really an option..

The Solution!

I have tried so many things! From the save cleaner to RamMap and al these different things with the CurrentGame folder and Save game folder etc. Nothing worked! One thing that did work though.. which I discovered non-intentionally. When I put my pc in Hibernate mode (I often do this when I leave the pc for a while and want to get straight back to where I was when firing it up again) and I fired my pc up again later it let me save my game every time I wanted to..

So I tested that today again when I got the error and it worked! It is super annoying to have to “shut down” your pc completely just to be able to save your game but it is the solution for me for now.

Hibernate: Your computer saves its current state to your hard drive. When you boot up your computer, your computer’s state will be saved, including all opened programs and data, so you can quickly access any work you’ve stepped away from. It takes longer to resume from hibernate than sleep, but hibernate uses much less power than sleep.

So now I'm trying to figure out wether putting folders in RAMDISK will help prevent the error 16. If putting my pc in sleep helps too I would assume putting files in RAMDISK will too because

Sleep mode is a power saving state that is similar to pausing a DVD movie. All actions on the computer are stopped, any open documents and applications are put in memory while the computer goes into a low-power state.

Will let you know if I have the solution. PLEASE EA! MAKE THE SIMS 3 64BIT!!! AAAAGGGHHHH
