☆ closer - nine inch nails (gavin showed him this song LMAO. despite being shy about the lyrics when listening around other people, when he is alone he is definitely jammin’. he actually enjoys the suggestive lyrics a lot, but he will never admit it to the others. he lip syncs and looks in the mirror while he does it to make sure he looks “attractive enough.” not even his partner knows he does this yet.)

☆ singularity - bts (after having looked up the english translation, he feels a deeper ache when listening to it. he relates deeply to these lyrics, acknowledging that he oftentimes puts others way before himself and, just as in the song, “buries his voice” in fear of rejection. he loves taehyung’s deep vocals and prefers listening while driving because he seeks the vibration of the bass.)

☆ like crazy - jimin (lasko may or may not have gone down a bts rabbit hole at some point—but this song hits him to his core. it’s in a way that he can’t explain, but goosebumps take over his skin and he has to stop whatever he’s doing at the moment to listen and appreciate in its entirety. he was very happy when his partner told him that it was on their playlist after listening to it with them :3)

hi! there’s a poem that brendon supposedly posted in august 2008 on “dylan’s myspace” that a lot of fans call “the summer poem” and i was wondering if you could confirm if he wrote it or not. i know you touched on the fact that there were a lot of fake accounts made around that time, but this specific poem has always felt more genuine than other posts and the writing style fits his tone. i’ve always really liked it, but i was never 100% sure of its validity. thank you!

ok so I had to google this to see what the "summer poem" was and I found this tumblr post, which had this link at the bottom:

and that links to the dilloncornbreadandchicken myspace as the source of that poem, which explains everything.

So towards the end of the Honda Civic Tour (and shortly after Pete Wentz got married), one of Pete's dog Hemingway's supposed extra myspace accounts posted a bulletin that said “it would make me happy if you would add my buddy dillon. here's his myspace" and linked to the dilloncornbreadandchicken account. The fact that Dylan's name was spelled wrong and she was misgendered was a little weird. Also, Hemingway's real account didn't post anything about this. (Side note: Yes, Panic's myspace got hacked around the end of the Honda Civic Tour, so even the legit myspace accounts could occasionally do something unusual. Also can I please just complain that the hackers could have posted some highly entertaining stuff "from Adam" on Panic's myspace if they'd had any imagination. Like we all know what's going on, so why not just do something absurd for a laugh).

But the dilloncornbreadandchicken account seemed questionable on its own anyways. Keep in mind that a lot of fans were obsessed with the idea that Brendon & Shane were dating... like a lot of the Ryden enthusiasm got channeled there in 2008 because at least it still implied that Brendon was into guys.

Some random things that seemed odd to me:

Several of the pictures on that myspace were absolutely not Dylan. Similar looking dog, but definitely not her.

One of the songs that played on Dillon’s profile was “Ur So Gay” by Katy Perry.

The account said things like "yea i have 2 daddys... out of the ordinary? daddy brendon and shane both take excellent care of me.”

Many girls had convos with the “Shane and Brendon” who ran that myspace. That account was also very active with replying & commenting on other's profiles. June was still a busy month for the real Brendon, who was finishing the Honda Civic Tour (and doing a lot of publicity/media stuff) and then getting ready for Europe.

In July (while the band was still in Europe), fans asked Shane about Brendon's comment to Kerrang about how the last time he cried was when he heard that Dylan ran away for a few days. Shane explained that Dylan was living with his parents while Panic was on tour, and that she'd run away on a nearby golf course to chase rabbits for a few days. Shane also apparently seemed confused when a fan at the Astoria show told him she was friends with Dylan on myspace.

There were a ton of fake myspace & facebook accounts for everyone in PATD over the years. Some of them even managed to spell Brendon's name right. But Brendon just would not be talking to fans on myspace like that (or even be on myspace at that point period). The band had stopped doing even basic journal updates by 2008, but even in 2006 Brendon & Ryan had put a lot of distance between themselves and fans, and we heard from them less & less. The guys didn't even run their band's social media in the Fever era. This whole episode reminded me of how in late 2006 many middle school girls swore they'd been talking to Ryan on AIM and he'd shared secret lyrics with them, and I was like omg common sense please.

The person who wrote that "summer poem" sounds like a school schedule still factored into their awareness, and they're possibly trying to make a subtle connection to Brendon's old part_time_lovah livejournal account. I stopped paying attention to the dilloncornbreadandchicken myspace after seeing so many big fans similarly conclude that it was fake, so I don't remember much about the poem. I'll only say that it should be regarded with some suspicion... even just posting a poem anywhere online like that would have been very out of character for Brendon. (For context, that poem was posted while Brendon was busy being a tired, sick, sweaty mess on tour in Asia and the band was heading to Australia next).

a/n i couldn’t think of anything and i’m in writers block so i’m shocked i came up with this..? but nct and svt are two of my ults and i love our neoteen crumbs we get every other few months so heres this. stream all of the songs mentioned btw!

with taeil i had to debate a little bit. i even used a randomized wheel thingy and nothing seemed right but i thought about it.. and i’d say our dawn is hotter than day OR come to me. that entire album reminds me of him but mainly those two. especially as a vocalist, i couldn’t imagine him doing a cover to one of those songs. i’d simply just pass AWAY bro omg.

now taeyong wasn’t too hard to find. i thought he’d be just a hhu song but then i remembered his alter ego, bubu. i chose crazy in love for taeyong. tbh i still have a small doubt for him being this song but seungcheols rap in the beginning reminds me of him. especially the tone when he says “blah lah lah”. plus it’s a sweet song in my opinion so the pre-chorus is very taeyong imo.

for johnny i literally just thought about my favorite mingyu era and i WOULD say hot until i remembered the absolute bangers on that album. so instead, i said shadow. i don’t know what it is about johnny but him and mingyu remind me of each other so much. sticker johnny 🤝 shadow mingyu

ironically i chose a japanese song for yuta but THERES A GOOD REASON. i’ve been a consumer of nct content for exactly 826 days and i can assure you that betting is yuta. that song just sounds like you’d listen to it and think about scamming the rest of your way through life. to be honest it was either betting or lilili yabbay because the song has such a interesting concept too. i just said betting because of my favorite jeonghan line, “yes ima bet my all”

i had a similar problem with doyoung like i had with taeil. i just didn’t know like i really had to sit and think about it for a good minute or two. i think doyoung is lie again since it’s nice and slow you know? and like i said for taeil, if doyoung covered this song i would ascend to heaven.

oh gosh jaehyun.. jaes was actually kind of easy? i did think about it for a little bit but i didn’t use as much brainpower as i did with taeil and doie. jaehyun is DEF lean on me. if him and wonwoo just did a collab where they covered lean on me it would be so freaking amazing. all caratzens would be dead i SWEARR

jungwoo is kidult. when you read the lyrics not only do you want to bawl your eyes out but a small, very small, extremely small part of your brain is screaming, “JUNGWOO. IT’S JUST SUCH A MARK SONG LIKE THE BEAT THE LYRICS ARE JUSF SO PERFECT FOR MARKIE POO.

i don’t think this song is really popular amongst carats but if you know this song i love you. haechan is no f.u.n. like i dunno i think his voice would fit a song like this. if they featured him on this i’d listen to this more than i listen to my therapist (which is almost never)

Hello hello hello I’m right here with another concert recap, this time for Tegan and Sara on October 28 2022 at Royale in Boston! This was one of my absolute favorite shows I’ve ever been to, I literally cannot stop smiling thinking about it

Okay first of all HOLY FUCKING SHIT. This was my 6th time seeing Tegan and Sara, but the first time I’ve gone for the VIP package which was so cool and so worth it

The way they’re doing VIP for this tour is that you get to go to a Q&A and a little pre-show acoustic performance which I love so much better than a meet & greet where you wait in line to see them for like 30 seconds

For the VIP setlist they did Call It Off (yes I started crying instantly), Alligator, and This Ain’t Going Well, the last of which apparently wasn’t planned and Tegan straight up said “I don’t know this part” mid-song lmao. I love her, queen of forgetting her own lyrics.

I lucked out and ended up being the 9th person to show up to the VIP line, which means I was able to get a really great spot at the barricade for both the VIP event and the main show right in front of Sara.

They made us leave the venue in between so the opener could do their sound check, but had us line back up in the order of the numbers on our badges which I really appreciated because oh boy I had to pee SO badly and was worried about losing my spot (also it was kinda fun to get to cut in line not gonna lie I felt very powerful)

Tomberlin was the opener and they were great!! I’ve heard a few of their songs before, definitely gonna check out more of their music now.

As always, fucking fantastic performance from Tegan and Sara. They truly do get better with age.

They’re so easygoing on stage and know how to connect with their audience. Maybe it’s because I’ve seen them so many times before but I don’t really get that “omg you’re real humans and you’re standing in the same place as me” when I’m at their shows anymore, it just feels like we’re all hanging out as friends.

THE BANTER. My absolute favorite part of Tegan and Sara shows is that they’re not just concerts, they’re a musical performance with a side of standup comedy. Sara especially had some hysterical stories to tell (I was losing it at the martini costume story)

Like I predicted, there was more fluidity between them, similar to their 2019 book tour! Tegan sang lead on I Bet It Stung and How Come You Don’t Want Me which are two of Sara’s songs, and they switched off singing verses for a few tracks

They also changed up the arrangements for a few of the songs which was super cool, I love when they take their old stuff and make it more cohesive with their new stuff. The Con and Living Room are two songs where I have consistently liked the live versions more than the album recordings

There was an excellent balance of their old and new tracks. When you’ve been around for so long I bet it’s hard narrowing down a setlist to a 90 minute show

I cried once again when they played Nineteen. I don’t think I’ve ever not cried to a live performance of that song. I dunno it makes me so emotional thinking about the person I was at 19 and how different I was back then but we both still love this band with all our heart

The venue is a club and it was all decorated for Halloween including some giant inflatable ghosts in the back, which made Walking With A Ghost hilarious. Another great thing about the venue being a club is that it was an earlier show time to accommodate the club guests. I was at Metric’s show earlier this week and if I’ve learned anything it’s that I’m getting too old to be staying out past midnight for shows lmao

I have so much merch now, I got the VIP merch package and then at the end of the show I decided on a whim to buy a Crybaby hat. I never used to be a hat person but there’s something about band hats that have just hit different for me lately.

What was your first impression of this song (and has it changed)?

omg this was literally the first TAD song I ever heard and I strongly stand by it as the perfect entryway into listening to them. I remember looping it so much that first night, and eventually getting to the point where I was like yeah... I need to hear More™ dsfdfsdf. Though here's a really funny thing I've never mentioned to anyone: when Farewell Wanderlust was first linked on Discord and I listened to the 30 second preview, I didn't fully realize (despite the album cover) that there were two vocalists, since we had just been talking about Joey's involvement. 4. What’s your favorite lyrical part of the song?

okok I feel like I've definitely mentioned this in so many placed before, so you probably already know, but! I'm obsessed with the way Joey and Madeleine's distinct verses in both Battle Cries and Pruning Shears still often rhyme with each other when they meet on the beat. My absolute favorite instance of this is "you lack the conviction to look at me straight and say yes" on top of "some fictions we took to mean fate, believe me I know." Both for the rhyming overlay of conviction/fictions, look/took, and straight/fate, but also the overlap of Madeleine's "yes" with Joey's "know" to give the impression that they're saying "yes/no" on top of each other. It's brilliant writing, and I adore it to no end.

8. Do you visualize any colors, images, or scenes when listening to this song?

tbh I think I just visualize the scenes outlined in the song? The watching TV with yoghurt, the dancing on the roof, the lying in bed together and running hands through hair. Also that part of A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman where the two of them are running across the rooftop through all the clotheslines lol. And actually, now that I'm thinking about it.... this couple lives in the same apartment complex or the general vicinity of the couple in NYTS.

I associate a lot of THATW with night or late afternoon, and Fair definitely falls in the night realm for me, so this song is like... a midnight blue backdrop, light orange flickering from the TV screen or a fireplace. Also not a visual, but this song feels like being wrapped up in a warm blanket. 💙

I am still crushing on her and her wife omfg) and those two blorbos with the most excellent little boy (Chris 🧡) made me read the trope friends to husbands (as in “24hrs marriage speedrun” lets get married - why not right now - alright then) with glee and acceptance of in-character choices that got them there. They are so idiotic sometimes but also so so intelligent 😂✌️

naming my top 5 songs (I’m assuming not paramore but in general?) is actually kinda hard at the moment, i haven’t thought about it in a while. but I’ll try:

So the first one that immediately comes to mind is spanish sahara by foals, without a doubt my favorite song of all time. for a long time it was the only foals song I knew but I went to see them play anyway, bc there was a small chance they might play the song and I was sure hearing it live would change my entire life. and it kinda did I guess. when they played the first note (the song starts really slow) i already fucking cried like the loser I am haha and I think about this show at least once a week although it’s been quiet a while since I was there. And after that I listened to the rest of their stuff and now I’m quiet the foals fan! and the fuckikg bridge in this song. Oh boy. the guitar playing that melody the first time and then again with the harmony, I’m sure that is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

Another great one is jesus christ by brand new. According to a site that shows you your Spotify stats, it’s my most played song of all time. It feels a bit wrong to name it on its own, bc in my mind it’s more like a part of the entire album bc I mostly listen to it from start to end. Its called the devil and god are raging inside me and I love all the songs. Limousine is definitely up there aswell. Oh and not the sun. And you won’t know. Ooh and archers omg, do yourself a favour and listen to the entire thing.

Same thing with the adults are talking by the strokes. Fantastic song, but the album as a whole is fuckikg chef kiss kind of shit. What a masterpiece man, the strokes are one of the greatest bands of all time to me. Actually I think I might change my mind. Am I allowed to change my mind? Ode to the mets might be my favorite song on the album. And that’s bc 1., „drums please, fab“ (when they played it live for the first time, fab simply forgot to play and it somehow ended up on the recording, it’s on YouTube and it’s hilarious) and 2. bc I LOVE the lyrics. When the second part starts at around 4 minutes I think, the style of the song kinda changes and the lines start to be all over the place, If you look up the lyrics you can’t really tell when a line or sentence starts or ends, it’s all intertwined somehow. I thinks it’s beautiful and it’s fun. Go strokes. (Honourable mentions from the album: why are Sundays so depressing, selfless, not the same anymore, at the door and ah fuck it every song)

I feel like I should throw in a shorter answer, so here: if I get high by a beautiful band called nothing but thieves. I can’t put all my love for this one into words. Saw it live although it kinda wasn’t on the setlist and i think it changed me as a person. Connor has a voice that we, as a nation, must protect at all costs. A piece of art. Top tier song.

And a fifth one could be seventeen going under by Sam fender? This song did SOMETHING to me. End of last year + beginning of this year were the worst few months of my entire life. I don’t know how to explain to you how fuckikg bad it was. I’ve never been this depressed before and I was so easily triggered into bad episodes that i didn’t go outside or talk to anyone for a long time bc i was so afraid someone might say a single wrong word that could remind me of stuff I tried not to think about, which would set me back weeks again and again and well shit got pretty dark. And then when I thought it would never get better, it somehow got better. Getting out of there was fuckikg hard but somehow I did It and at the same time I discovered Sam fender and sorry for being cheesy but imagine you’re just coming out of a dark shit hole and you thought you’d never smile again and then you’re in the car, listening to seventeen going under on full volume, screaming words like „i was far too scared to hit him, but I would hit him in a heartbeat now“. Feels like laughing at the devil or something. Right now I’m a little bit tired of it because i listened to it a bit too much, but damn it’s still an banger. Shout out to Sam fender.

“Where the bloody hell is he,” Sirius mumbled, a moment before he caught sight of a familiar mop of sandy brown hair on a stick of gangly boy, walking towards them with his hands in his robe pockets and a smile so lovely and familiar it made Sirius’ stomach flip upside down and backwards. “Moony!” he yelped, and dropped his bag. In three bounding leaps he had reached Remus and tackled him to the ground, taking his face in his hands and kissing him sloppily over every inch of skin available to be kissed. Remus was laughing and kissing him back and saying, around the kisses, “It’s good to see you too, you daft sod—Merlin, did you go more dog in Surrey?”

“Yes,” James said cheerfully, who had been close enough to hear the last bit. “He’s regressed to puppyhood, too, it’s a bit disturbing, frankly—Padfoot, get the fuck off, I want to hug Moony too.”

By the time they had all finished saying their hellos and gathered their things and Remus had wiped the greater part of saliva off his face, the station had mostly cleared: first years long gone, of course, and the other students making their way to the carriages.

The wind howled viciously, making leaves fly all through the wind, blowing all the trees and branches sway harshly, making it look like they were leaning to the side

All the pale underside of the leaves were visible as the skies only got darker and darker despite it only being around noon

Power all throughout the neighborhood and nearby city was blown out about an hour ago with no signs of it coming back on anytime soon

The apartment was dimly lit and still, the only movement coming from Eita as he was leaned back on the velvety couch that sat two people just enough, a baggy light blue pullover basically draped over his body with black sweatpants that hugged his waist comfortably

A faint scent of a candle lit on the table as it’s aura flickered in the dim room yet the small flame was able to impact the ambiance of the room entirely with its presence

A messy stack of blank music sheets sat on the corner of the little coffee table beside him

His fingers strummed over the various chords, mixing them up to find just the right set

But for once, his mind was blank

He couldn’t think of any new lyrics, new chords

All he could think of was blank — a clean, empty slate in his mind

He sighed, stretching himself out as he stared at the ceiling, wishing inspiration could just come but it felt like he was anchored down to a block that prevented him from moving

A heavy boom rumbled all throughout the sky, followed by a big flash of lightning as

Sad cries began to sound through the baby monitor on the coffee table

He sat himself up, leaning his guitar against the side of the couch as he walked down the hall toward the small nursery room the apartment could offer, his steps creaking just the slightest with every step

The small room was dimly lit, a star projector light casting the exquisite colors as the stars moved slowly across the ceilings and walls

“Hey, honeybun,” Semi’s voice was gentle as his heart melted into a puddle seeing his five month old baby girl

Her face squished and eyes squeezed shut

her little feet and fists curled up as she let her cries out

Her damp and wet chubby cheeks he was obsessed with

“What’s gotten you so upset?” He coped as leaned over the edge of the crib, carefully scooping her up into his embrace

Her minuscule hands wrapped around the loose fabric of the pullover to the best of her abilities

She cried resting her head on his shoulder, her small body shaking she cried

“Papa’s here~ no need to cry,” he sing song whispered as he swayed side to side, lightly patting her bad

“Papa’s here to dry those eyes, not letting the little stars disappear from them~” he gunned to a tune he made up

He continued his hums as he left the small room, bringing her to the living room where it was even darker now that a storm was being unleashed outside as the wind’s strength picked up

The little girl’s distressful cries turned into little coughs and sniffily whimpers as they died down now that she was being held, the low silky voice of her papa soothing her

Little hiccups sounded from her as he slipped onto the couch, leaning down comfortably into the position he was in, laying her down on his chest

“Aw, my little bun, it’s okay, shhh…”

He held her close like she was glass but in Rita’s eyes, he was holding such a precious star no universe could be blessed to have

She was his little star and he never wanted her shine to ever cease for a single moment

Not for anyone or anything

“Nap time, hon bun,” he whispered as he carefully reached to the side, picking up his guitar

He laid the instrument on his lap with his legs propped up on the other arm of the chair as he began to let his fingers strum

“Wise men say... only fools rush in...” his voice fit the song so perfectly as his fingers slowly waltzed on the strings of his guitar just enough so it could be heard in this little space

“But I can’t help, falling in love... with.. you..” the softest smile pulled at his lips as he adored his little girl laid still on him, her back slowly rising and falling

She laid still on

“Shall I stay.. would it be a sin... for I can’t help.. falling in love with you...”

he melted his lips to the top of her head as she finally rested for her nap to the music of her papa’s lullaby

He continued his music at a low volume as she slept on him soundly, his little girl had set him free, letting his inspiration soar as all he could think of was how much she meant to him

Omg Sel 😭😭😭😭 What an absolutely beautiful song. I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to this. I wanted to find the right moment to listen to it and I'm so glad I did. Once I heard it, I played it over and over again. I must have listened to it like five times back to back that first go alone.

Also, maybe this is a reflection of my own headspace/poor translation abilities, but I also definitely cried. Is it supposed to be a sad song? I'm not super familiar with colloquial Greek, so I might be missing something and I feel like my interpretation of the lyrics might be a bit morbid…

So, for everyone who doesn't speak/read/understand Greek I've roughly translated the lyrics:

Είσαι η αγάπη μου - You are my love Αυτό να θυμάσαι - You have to remember that Πίνω εγώ το δάκρυ μου - I drink my tear Να μη μου φοβάσαι - So that you won't be afraid (of me?)

Πιο όμορφο απ'την Ανατολή - More beautiful than the east Και πιο ζεστό από τη Δύση - Warmer than the west Πάρε το μόνο μου φιλί - Take my only kiss Ευχή να σε ζήσει - I wish for it to bring you to life (??)

Χώμα, χώμα βρεγμένο - Soil, wet soil Σώμα αγαπημένο - (My?) favourite body Ν'ανοίξεις την καρδιά σου - Open your heart Βιάσου, Βιάσου - Hurry, hurry

Και το πουλί που κελαηδά - And the bird that chirps Κι οι θάλασσες που αφρίζουν - And the oceans that froth Σφάλισε τα ματόκλαδα - Secure the branches (?? this is the translation but I had to look it up because I wasn't sure) Ν 'ακούς που ψιθυρίζουν - To hear them whispering

Η μέρα στό 'πε η χλωμή - The day told you the (?? translate says pale but idk) Στο λέει το σιγανό το κλάμα - The slow crying tells you Θα ζω για κείνη τη στιγμή - That I'll live for this moment alone Το αν, το ίσως και το άμα - The if, the maybe, and the when

As mentioned, my Greek isn't amazing and I used Google translate for some of the words I didn't know.

The way I read this/related it to Mason x Grace is him sort of (sorry I know this morbid) grieving over her gravesite?? After a lifetime together where she didn't turn? And it ends with him vowing to live for the little moments… and the ifs, the maybes, and the whens. Oh my god I'm crying again. 😂😭

Can someone with maybe a better grasp of the language help?? Sel or maybe @mm2305 or anyone?
