'Worlds Greatest' wasn't my favorite run but it had some great moments early on - like of course, Foolkiller wants to be a psychologist, so all the Mercs for Money say they'll help him study.

Deadpool's eating-popcorn-with-a-mask fail is great, but the joke a few panels later is my favorite.

"Okay, cool, I get why you want to do this now."

Fun fact: I remember asking my therapist about that "psychopaths versus sociopaths" line, if it was true or not. When I told her it was from a Deadpool comic book, she replied "ah, well, can't argue with a credible academic source like that!"

Phantom & The Merc

Danny was always a ghost. Just not in the sense that he was now. He was invisible. Always forgotten, or ignored, until he served a purpose.

Whether it was to help with an experiment, to let some anger out, or simply to have someone to listen to your problems.

Danny never felt seen.

Not until he found Phantom. He became Phantom.

He's world turned on it's head. A combination of never being seen and feeling like he was always under a microscope.

He wasn't sure which he prefered.

But he found a balance. Managed to walk the thin line between Fenton and Phantom. Never strayed that far after his first year.

He thought he had it all figured out. He's truly invisible half, and his half in the spot light.

Until the day the whole world was after him.

It happened so fast. In the span of two days, all eyes were on Fenton. Everyone knew. Nobody really cared about Phantom in that time. Everyone knew Fenton was Phantom.

Being on the run was taxing.

He was always in pain, always hungry, and never comfortable. Everywhere he went, someone would find him. Without fail.

His family turned on him. His friends couldn't help him. He wasn't going to let people get hurt or arrested because of him.

To the eyes of the government, he wasn't human. He wasn't alive.

All those 'enhanced human' laws didn't help him.

So the day he was met with the man in red and black. The mercenary everyone from the underground warned him about. He accepted his fate.

He knew Deadpool would be the one kill him, or capture him. The world wasn't picky on the reward.

Except he wasn't.

The man didn't kill him.

At first, Danny thought it was because of the way he folded the moment he was met with the armed killer.

The way he just dropped his head, and waited. He wasn't getting taken without a fight, but death was the better option. The less painful one.

It wasn't until Deadpool took him to a place nearby, fed him, and spoke to him. Actually spoke to him. Not just about him, or what he wanted from him.

Danny was being treated like a person again.

That was when he found out why the Merc was there in the first place. To help.

The rumors about the notorious Deadpool wasn't completely true. The man didn't just do anything for money. He has his own morals and rules.

Deadpool doesn't kill kids.

And for the first time, Danny didn't want to defend his age. He knows he looks younger than he is. He's always been the smallest in his family. In school.

He wasn't going to let his ego stop him from having a warm meal, and sleeping on a bed for the first time in a long while.

Danny felt safe.

something very Important To Me in the spider-man and deadpool relationship (gen) is the theme of voluntary change for the better. deadpool’s morals don’t match up with spidey’s, but spidey matters enough to him to want to be good. redemption arcs my beloved

in 616, deadpool is a mercenary, and that doesn’t jive with peter parker’s no-killing policy. hobie, however, has no such qualms, thus the flavor of 138 dp’s divergence must be altered; i’m thinking he might’ve been a retired/fired police officer, or he took government-sponsored merc jobs without caring who the target was—somethin a little fucked up like that idk

then he meets spider-punk. initially, deadpool is obsessed the way you’re obsessed with your friends’ favorite celebrities—loudly, annoyingly, facetiously. hobie at first dislikes him, but doesn’t consider him a big enough player to hate, and since punk’s core moral of radical kindness allows for second chances, he offers dp the opportunity to turn his back on the State. slowly deadpool acclimates to punk values and community, finds himself upholding core tenets of the revolution even when it means he loses out on big fat wads of fascist blood money, and becomes a scene kid

Wade honestly met you during one of his jobs

He was sent to a fancy bank to assassinate the CEO, but you were already there when he got up to the CEO's office

The man was knocked out cold on the ground, and you were perched in front of a massive safe in the wall, helping yourself to the wads of cash inside

"Well if I had known there would be an attractive cat burglar here I would have worn my best suit!"

He scared the sh!t out of you. At first you thought he was with the Avengers or something, so you tried to fight him

He was quick to stop you, though

"Hey hey hey! No need to get all stabby with me, dollface! I'm no narc!"

And that kids is how you met Wade freaking Wilson

Somehow he managed to get your phone number from you and would not stop texting or calling you, sending memes, selfies, etc.

You had to admit...it was kinda cute

It didn't take long for the two of you to get together

He was worried about what you might think of his face and body once you saw him without his suit or mask, but he was pleasantly surprised when you assured him you didn't mind

Wade doesn't mind that you steal (as long as it's from high wealth, rich people and not people who are struggling)

He just asks that when you leave you don't get caught and you stay as safe as possible

Sometimes you'll come along with him on his jobs just to get a little bit of extra goods from the mercs he kills

He'll literally tell you to use him as a flesh shield in these situations

He'd rather die than see you ever hurt

He loves it when you pamper him, though, after particularly difficult contracts, he just revels in your attention and affection (I think he's extremely touch starved and so he quickly becomes addicted to your affection)

He likes to just hold you, he likes the feeling of your soft, smooth skin against his scarred body

A part of him still doesn't believe it when you say you love him (;n;)

He has a collection of little gifts that you've bought for him with the money you've stolen

He insisted you don't buy him anything ridiculously expensive

So instead you settled for new slippers for him, Barbara Streisand movies, a little travel sewing kit so he can repair his suit on the go

It's the thought that counts for him, but even then you just being with him is more than enough

If you come home from a burglary all roughed up or exhausted he will (gently) suplex you into bed and kiss all your boo boos

"You know what else it is you've stolen, babes?" Wade would ask one night.

"What's that, Wade?"

I updated my Mercs designs a little bit! Solo got the biggest overhaul because I realized my design looked absolutely nothing like he does in the comics- but everybody else just got a couple minor tweeks since my art style's changed a lot since I started drawing these guys.

Also the background is just a free png I found on Google I didnt feel like actually drawing smthn...

Deadpool is a mercenary, a popular one at that. How does it do it? Well he's not only batshit crazy and good at his job but he has, quite literally, fanbase-

He is the leader of a rock band because who would be ok with a merc being a celebrity of sorts if not some angsty (probably crazy too) teenagers- It's good advertising! Most of his audience tend to want to hire Deadpool afterall.

Spiderman is the hero of the little people and he plans to keep it that way- even if he is a broke student, even if he is balancing a few jobs and is dead tired...

Afterall, how else is he to save up money to buy more Deadpool merch and hopefully actually attend one of his concerts?

Sure- Spiderman isn't one to agree with Mercenary Deadpool... But that doesn't mean he doesn't have ears to listen to the man's music! He respects the art not the act.

You can only imagine his struggle when he meets Deadpool as Spiderman- hiding his excitement and thr fact that he must have an autograph all the while scolding his literal hero.

Oh hey, they finally explained why the comics version of Negasonic Teenage Warhead keeps changing powersets.

In her first appearance she was precognitive and psychic, then in the Mercs for Money series she was precognitive and a reality warper, and then in Skottie Young's Deadpool she had the explosive powers of her movie counterpart.

Apparently it's all an extension of her precognitive powers. Her mutation has the potential develop in multiple different ways, and when she takes steps to ensure a different future, her current self syncs to that future her's powers.

That's an interesting use of precognition.
