Idia Shroud x Persephone! GN Reader
───────────────
Summary: Azul, a member of the Board Game Club, begins noticing the change is his competitor/friend Idia. He plans to get to the bottom of his unusual behavior…
───────────────
Warning(s): (potential) spoilers for Chapter 6, Idia losing his mind over how much he loves Reader, GN reader, Reader is described to have pointy ears!, Floyd.,
A/N: Idia deserves his time in the spotlight, I love him sm and the trope/parallel of Persephone/Hades for them
─────•~❉✿❉~•─────
Azul doesn’t know much about Idia on a deep personal level. The two are friends, sure, but it isn’t like they share secrets while at a sleepover or have friendship bracelets. It doesn’t bother Azul much, he never had a problem with just being decent friends. While Azul doesn’t know a lot about Idia…
He does know that something is definitely wrong.
It was another club meeting for the Board Game Club. Azul and Idia were playing a game of cards with funny and cute animals on them. Usually Idia would be absolutely destroying Azul at the game— or any game for that matter— but today Idia just stared down at his cards in deep thought. And it wasn’t the usual stare of determination. It was more akin to the thousand yard stare.
It’s been over ten minutes since Azul’s move and Idia hasn’t made a single attempt to outdo his move. Plus he hadn’t blinked in a good two minutes, which creeped Azul out.
Azul clears his throat. “Idia? It’s your move.”
Idia snaps out of his daydream and looks up from his cards with a ‘huh?’, looking down again and setting down another one of his cards, not even bothering to a usual smug declaration or shame Azul for being so stupid for playing such a lame card (which he did on purpose to try and gain Idia’s attention throughout the game).
“Is something the matter?” Azul finally asked after some internal debate. He didn’t want to pry— after all they weren’t all too close— but he just couldn’t stand the unusual silence of the game.
Plus, Azul admits, he’s incredibly nosy.
“Uh…” Idia flushes and rubs the back of his neck, the blue flames of his hair turning pink and even the end of his hair flickering in the shape of hearts, which made Azul’s jaw drop.
“No… I’m okay. Just uh- thinking! Y’know, strategizing! Also your move sucked lololol.”
Well, at least he got a normal Idia despite how horrible his lie was. Azul narrowed his eyes at the Ignihyde dorm leader with a small ‘uh-huh’ and placed down his next card.
“Did something strange happen?”
That’s when Idia lost cool. He was sweating bullets, looking guilty as a sinner in church. “What makes you say that!? Nothing happens! Nothing at all.”
His phone chimes. Idia takes out his phone almost immediately, going over the screen, and smiles. Replying quickly, then pausing, looking up at Azul.
“Uh… I think I’m gonna head back early!” Before Azul could protest or even say a word, Idia grabbed his things with a quickness that Azul hadn’t even seen from him before. “See ya next meeting!”
As Azul watched Idia leave the classroom without even looking back, he quirks a brow, humming in thought.
If there was one thing about Azul, he wasn’t just going to let something like this slide.
He had to find out what’s wrong with Idia!
───────────────
Idia takes his place again at the fountain of the courtyard, the third time this week. Many people are already in their respective dorms, which means Idia is alone with no one in sight, yet still he bounces his leg and looks every which way. The sun has slowly begun to set, given by how the sky turns a yellow, orange, pink, and reddish hue with clouds littering the sky. The running water of the fountain continues to break the silence. The sound alone and the time of day with the scenery no doubt would calm the nerves, but to Idia, he could only feel nervous. His heart pounded, hands growing clammy, and his fingers picked at his painted nails and chipped the polish. He’d have to redo them later.
He checked his phone once, twice, and three more times as he continued to look around. Idia checked the time again and again, checked his notifications (which were mainly with his game notifications, much to his shocking disappointment) and others just junk mail.
The time went by from 6:00 to 6:30 in a flash. He had to go back to his dorm sooner or later before the teachers making their rounds in the halls came by and asked him to leave— for the fourth time in a span of three days this week.
Idia goes back to looking at his phone, opening it, and going to a locked album in his photos with a password that consisted of two special dates combined.
One being his anniversary.
And the other being the day he met you.
Once unlocked, almost thousands of photos and videos appeared on screen, all consisted of you and him in each picture, but mainly only you. He never really enjoyed photos of himself but he’d deal with it for you, always. Idia is convinced that half of his storage on his phone is half dedicated to you. Not to say that the flash drive in his room kept in a locked box in his desk drawer is any different. It’s full of the backups of the photos on his phone and then some.
He clicks a more recent photo of you, though, it was a year ago during the summer time— the one time your parent actually let you see Idia after a long hard month of managing your studies and practicing your magic.
Sat beneath the sun, flowers bloomed beneath you through the sand somehow, a big smile on your face as you face the camera. Idia couldn’t help but let his heart swell as he stared at you. Your hair, your outfit, your skin, your eyes; Idia had memorized it all in his mind, but he could never get enough of it. Even if he could make a perfect replica of you in a game, it wouldn’t feel or look the same. He swiped to another photo, this one being in the fall. Idia was in the photo this time, flushed and flared up as it showed you giving him a kiss on the cheek, leaving a lipstick mark on his pale skin. The next was a picture of Ortho hugging your side.
It kills him every time he sees you in the best way possible. His heart can’t stop racing and his face is an even brighter red, his hair flaring up.
“Idia!” A voice yells from across the courtyard, making Idia perk up in excitement, a smile blooming on his face as the flowers beneath your feet.
There you were. Finally with him at long last. Sure, he talks to you almost everyday through text and chats with you on call, but it’s never enough. He waits for winter and fall every year, the only times of the year where you aren’t busy helping your parent with their business and able to sneak out of school.
Idia stands up to attentions immediately, his arms open to welcome you in them as you slam yourself against him in a hug, almost making him stumble back into the pool of water in the fountain. Idia holds you close, not wanting to miss a moment of your warmth— despite wearing his signature hoodie.
You pull back and peppering kisses along his face, which makes him heat up even further. A dopey smile stretches across his face as he giggles, hands on your waist.
“I missed you!” You held his face in your hands, a loving smile on your face. Hell, he could’ve sworn he saw hearts form in your eyes. Or maybe that was his loser induced brain talking. “You’re so handsome! Have you gotten even more cuter?”
“We FaceTimed yesterday, it’s not like I changed at all.”
“Untrue, you styled your hair a little, didn’t you?” You ran your fingers through his hair, letting the warm flames tickle your skin. “It looks much longer than the last time I saw it!”
“I could get it cut if you don’t like it-“
“Oh shut up! I love it!” Another kiss on his lips, just a light peck, but even with that his hair bursts into large pink flames— almost like a bone fire that was doused in lighter fluid.
“Stoppp…” He says halfheartedly. “My heart can barely take it anymore, the meter is already broken. You’re too OP for me…”
You merely laugh at your fiancés antics.
“WHAT IN THE WORLD!?”
The way Idia jumps into the air is similar to that of a cat being scared of a cucumber. Idia’s head turns to the source of the voice, seeing Azul with the two Leech twins by his side looking shocked— unlike Azul, who looks downright horrified. Or would astonished be the word? Either way, he’s still as his eyes look from you to Idia.
“UH- UHM.”
Idia is panicking. He hasn’t told a single soul about you, not even Lilia whenever they were online and playing together! Of course he never told anyone, you were way out of his league, from a totally different school so who the hell believes “they’re from a different school” anymore!? Not only that, your family was famous for their innovations to helping and saving the planet by starting with agriculture and food! Almost every mom has the famous “guide to good health” in their kitchen!
“I- I don’t know them?”
….
“THE HELL SHROUD!?”
“Dear, I love you very much, but that wasn’t very smart…”
“Firefly Squid has a… partner?” Floyd tilts his head at you, approaching you and then poking you.
“How much is he payin’ you?”
“Excuse me.”
The stare you give Floyd speaks wonders, a pair of thorns growing up your arm as you try and smile politely at Floyd, but it’s more of a grimace.
“Please don’t ever insinuate that I’m using Idia for money.”
Floyd blinks and then grins, all teeth— sharp teeth. “Hey! You’re like a Flowerhorn fishy!”
“ARE WE JUST NOT GOING TO TALK ABOUT YOU AND IDIA BEING ALL LOVEY DOVEY?! WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT ABOUT!?”
Idia seriously wants to die. Like, he wants to melt into a puddle or crawl into a hole where people can’t find him. He puts his face in his hands and groans.
“You must be my Idia’s friends!” “YOUR IDIA!?” “Yes!”
“Idia is my fiancé!”
A beat passes. Then two. A whole minute passes before Azul screams out a ‘WHAT!?’ He grabs Idia and shakes him by the shoulders.
“YOU HAVE A FIANCÉ!? YOU NEVER TOLD ME!? I KNOW WE ARENT CLOSE, BUT WHAT THE HELL MAN!?”
“I DONT KNOW IM SORRY!”
You watch in amusement as Idia is rag-dolled by the meroctopus. Meanwhile you were being inspected by Jade and Floyd, as you’ve come to learn their names are.
“Woaahhh so Firefly Squid has a Flowerhorn as his fiancé! That’s so cute! I wanna squeeze you.~”
“Please don’t touch me.”
“Hehehe you’re funny!”
“Now, now, Floyd,” Jade speaks, placing a hand on his shoulder to restrain his feral twin. “We shouldn’t just bombard them with questions right off the bat. We should get to know them first before anything.”
“Might we ask your name?”
“I’m (Y/N) (L/N), soon to be a Shroud! Or Idia will be a (L/N)… We’re still debating on that.” You laugh a little, looking over them to check on Idia.
Ah, he was sweating buckets while Azul was getting winded over a long lecture, or maybe him ranting. You weren’t entirely sure what he was saying anymore, it all sounded like ravings of a lunatic. Was finding out Idia is engaged that life altering?
“Huh? (L/N)?” That’s when Jade’s eyes lit up and his polite smile grew to be more excited, surprising you. He looked similar to a kid on Christmas. “I have one of your family books on mushrooms and their types as well as their benefits to health. And the special addition ‘Mushroom Advice for Aspiring Potion Makers’. Might I say there are a millions ways you can use a mushroom to make poison.”
You stare at Jade a little astonished that mushrooms were the first thing he discusses, but you can also appreciate mushrooms. They are very special and odd fungi that change every day.
Meanwhile with Idia and Azul.
“WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BELIEVE THAT I HAVE A FIANCÉ, AZUL!?”
“OKAY. I KNOW WHY IT’S HARD TO BELIEVE BUT DONT GIVE ME THAT LOOK, MAN!”
Azul was close to pulling out his hair. He can’t believe it. It wasn’t the fact that Idia never told him, it was the fact that this was the very, very, VERY, very last thing Azul expected to be wrong with Idia. In fact, this thought wasn’t even on his mind, it wasn’t even on his list. Why would it be? It was Idia he was talking about! The guy could barely survive being asked what time it was, let alone managing to get engaged!
“Why- No, how??”
That’s when you step in, going past Jade and Floyd to stand beside Idia. “We’ve known each other since we were kids! And I was the one that ‘proposed’. But we were sixteen then, so when we turned eighteen! So we’ve been properly engaged for a year now.”
You hugged his side, Idia smiling softly as you do, looking away at the ground as you practically show him off with pride.
“My question is, why haven’t you told anyone, Idia? Especially after that ghost kidnapping you.”
“The what now?”
Idia tenses as you look at him with a smile. He felt the warm air of the outside just grow cold, cold as the winter.
“Huh? Oh yeah.” Floyd chimes in, laughing. “I remember that! There was this ghost that kidnapped Idia-“
“STOP TALKING-“
“To marry him or something. Pretty weird right?”
The air grows heavy as you continue to stare at Idia, a smile on your face. “Really now?”
Idia audible gulps.
“Yeah! He was really adamant on them not getting married he just wouldn’t explain why… Wait he didn’t tell you?”
“Nope! Not at all.”
Idia gives a nervous smile. “Uh… I can explain?”
A best of silence, then another. The three merfolk looked to one another in the tense silence as you and Idia stared each other down. You waiting for Idia to explain meanwhile Idia was waiting for himself to finish buffering.
“You might’ve said something you shouldn’t have…” Azul clears his throat, very uncomfortable in the silence. Floyd whistles guiltily.
The three slowly back away from the couple. Azul might’ve gotten his answer, but he also might’ve just started an early divorce.
───────────────
A bird chirps overhead as you and Idia stand in front of one another, giving some clarity in the silence, but Idia inside, currently, he was dying inside. He had completely forgotten about the whole “ghost marriage” thing, he had gaslit himself into believing it was all a fever dream, especially with the fact he had to be around a shit ton of people and be put through all of that drama— which, completely drained his social battery to the negatives. Telling you would mean he was worrying you and force you into sneaking out of school— most likely midday— and get yourself in trouble. Your smile was strained, an eyebrow twitching downward into a furrow, your arms crossed. Idia shuffles in place, his hands wringing together and he picks at a hangnail.
“Stop that,” you said softly, despite your little glare. “You’ll hurt yourself.”
“Sorry…”
“For the picking or the very important thing that you never told me.”
“Both?”
You sigh, shaking your hand, simply holding his hands in yours. You lead him to the fountain and sit him down beside you.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I dunno I was just- it was stupid, I don’t even know why it happened. And it was completely exhausting, my mind was racing and I think my life was flashing before my eyes!” Idia began rambling, already sweating. His hands were clammy. “Everything was happening all at once. I just wanted to call you and talk to you after it happened and go to sleep with you talking and-“
“Idia.”
Idia shuts his mouth immediately as you let go of his hands and put his face in your hands, thumbs rubbing the apple of his cheeks. He sighs.
“Sorry… I’m upset cause this isn’t what I wanted to do with you today. Damn Azul.”
“It’s okay Idia, we can still do what you wanted to today.”
“Yeah but I’d have to do it even quicker now because there’s only so much time before you have to go! I can’t speedrun a whole movie! Or maybe I can…”
You chuckle and let go of his face, a hand on his lap. He leans in closer to you, his head on your shoulder.
“I’m sorry I’m a total noob at this. Are you… mad at me? For that whole ghost marrying me thing.”
“Huh? Mad? Why would I be mad?”
“Cause I didn’t tell you about the other woman.”
“PFT- other woman??”
“I DUNNO!?”
“Idia. No, I’m not mad. As long as no other ghost is coming after you, then I won’t turn anybody into a mint leaf.” You pause.
“Can I turn ghosts into plants…?”
“Y/N no.”
“What? I can keep it as an ‘in case’ protocol in case some random ghost lady wants to marry you again.”
“I highly doubt that. Who’d want to marry me willingly?”
You deadpan at him. “I do.”
“Doesn’t count, I’m your last option.”
“Idia!”
“What? It’s true!”
You laugh, making Idia laugh with you, despite knowing that he’ll get an hour long session of you praising him after a self-deprecating comment like that. You thread your fingers through his hair, moving your head to the side further to kiss his forehead. He blushes and moves his face closer into the crane of your neck. He relaxes into your warmth, shutting his eyes. The sound of birds chirping overhead, a peaceful wind passing by, Idia snuggling close to your side as your head rests against his.
Sunflowers bloom at your feet, stems branching up from the ground and brushing against his ankles. They all face him. Idia thinks for a moment that he’s similar to a sunflower, especially when it comes to you.
He’ll always look for you, for his sunlight.

Age 16 Reader pov:
"And as the Bible says in Micah 7:7: But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my savior, my God will hear me"
Your eyes burn, not because you are crying, but because of the very bright spotlights that are shining on Pastor Tobias. The youth lesson takes place every Wednesday evening and today's topic is faith and trust.
The paper and pen in your hand feels heavy and rough, you should have already written down what you’ve learned new, but your head is just so empty today.
As it has been so often in the last few weeks, which makes you feel guilty and ashamed again. You stare at the blank page and don't feel anything, that you could put into words and on paper. You can think of many questions that you would like to ask, but are too embarrassed for.
"hey is everything ok?"
your head follows the whispers next to you. Hazel looks at you worried. This girl is the only reason you enjoy being here, and there is no judgment in her look.
“I’m a bit stuck on this today” you whisper back and point at the empty paper, she nods.
you could feel the eyes of the employes. When sermons are held it is always very quiet and all these people you grew up with are listening to the man in front of you, the faintest whispers can be heard. You quickly concentrate again and look ahead.
"We're closing the sermon today with a prayer and the requests that you gave us"
On the board next to him are various prayer requests that the young people brought to the lesson. But a few of them catch your eye more than the others.
- Please release me from the shame within me - Let me grow with your word - The temptations of the evil one shall not harm me
The prayer lasts 7 minutes and your mind keeps wandering. When you pray, you always forget where you are and feel a bit stuck in your head. That's why you've given up the habit of closing your eyes, which helps you to ease the restlessness in which your inner self is bursting. You can't get rid of it at anyway. You observe the people around you a bit. You know every face all too well, the reason for that includes going to a the private Christian school and the many prayer evenings that your parents and siblings like to attend to.
When praying, each face shows a small part of the person. Some look deep in thought, others look as if they were about to burst into tears at any second and one or the other sit on their seats with a contented and calm expression on their faces. You would give a lot to feel whatever they are feeling.
Hazel's expression reminds you of a frightened animal that has just been captured. She was one of the fearful prayers.
All you wanna do, is try to get her out of this state and keep her safe with you, but you know that you can't do that for her. Only the god she prays to can do that.
"Amen"
“Amen” everyone says together and the word leaves your lips quietly.
Everyone stands up from their seats and whispers spread. You know all these people and you knew from your private life that some of them weren't good people, but the church seemed to change that completely. At least for a short time. As soon as the free time begins, you notice that the facades are falling again. This has always confused you a bit.
Two years ago, so many people were converted here, that the church was rebuilt and there were now many different rooms for different concerns. There was the sermon Hall, which is full every Sunday and is used for worship services. There is also a kitchen and dining room with couches. One floor higher was the room for the young people, which is used every Wednesday to pray, study and spend time together. A few couches and many chairs with tables.
The whole youth group is there and a few people start to play games. Some have a religious background, some don't.
After the sermon, you and Hazel go from the sermon hall to the youth room, where a few people from your class have already made themselves comfortable on the couch and seats. At school you always talk to Hazel, who is a very social person and that's why you are forced to talk to other people as well.
Samuel and another boy are talking as you both sit down on chairs, and the whole group seems interested in the conversation.
"My mother said that, Pastor Tobias told her on Sunday"
"What's going on?" Hazel's gentle voice asks Samuel.
He excitedly turns away from the other boy and addresses Hazel.
"My mother said that we were going to a camp this summer, we young people, there was a lake, forest, church, everything"
“Do we have to camp?” Asks Kate, a girl in a class below you.
The thought of having to go camping immediately puts you off, but you'd have to go anyway if it actually takes place.
After all, Samuel talks a lot but it doesn't always reflect reality.
"She said there is a youth hostel with lots of rooms, but they are shared."
You could live with that. Hazel nudges you with a smile. Now the excitement hits you too, if you and Hazel are in the same room together, swimming in the lake all day long and there were going to be funny events, it will definitely be pretty fun.
You smile back excitedly and the other people around you seem to be looking forward to it too.
“Have you heard of Anne Marie’s husband?”
The group becomes quiet and looks at Sofia, with a thoughtful look and crossed arms.
"A few people from church mentioned something but I don't think it's true," Naveah says next to her and rolls her eyes, but Sofia shakes her head confidently and leans forward.
“My brother said it was true, he was there at the prayer meeting for him” Naveah’s face falls and that made you a little nervous.
"what?" ask someone, but you won't know who.
"They prayed that his homosexual desires would disappear"
The room generally seems to become a little quieter; the other groups of friends also seemed to have heard the word, which had probably never been uttered here before.
The tense atmosphere spreads through the room like poison and you hold your breath.
" I didn`t knew he had such disgusting thoughts"
you are too shocked to notice who said it, but you still clearly hear the others agree.
“The sin is disgusting, but we should pray for him,”
Austin decides, but his gaze seems a little concernt.
After the prayer you feel emptier than before, almost as if you had been sucked dry. Your thoughts left more marks and you knew what you would pray for tonight before you went to sleep.

[This is probably the only light hearted story I will ever do, obviously this is not a smut, just light hearted vibes]
Yui’s POV:
My first day as a private teacher in a wealthy academy, I was honestly so shocked that I even got this job but nonetheless I am grateful. When I was younger I always thought I would become a nun, growing up in a church I thought it was the most suited path for me, but one day my father and the rest of the Church elders granted me with an opportunity, to teach a bunch of young children in a private academy, my room and board would be taken care of and it was a well paying job, I did not care much for money but I did like helping charities with the money I already have so this would help me in that aspect.
It was the first day I spent the last 2 weeks decorating the classroom. These children are all around the ages of 9-12. They were very young, I hope to teach them kindness and compassion, I remember when I was first given this class, the neighboring teachers made remarks about the incoming students saying they were all rich, evil, selfish demons. I hope that is not the case, but even if it is, they're just kids they can easily be taught something new and unlearn wrong.
I was on a little chair, putting up a banner. It might be somewhat cheesy but I thought it was adorable. "Ha! What a lameeee banner." a childish voice shrieked mockingly. I turned my head slightly and saw a boy, he had spiky red hair at its ends, he had lively green eyes that look just like a cat's eyes, they were adorable but he already seemed like a nightmare. "Are you a student in this class?" I ask him to try to redirect his comment. "Yep, I'm the great Ayato Sakamaki!" he said, his confidence through the roof, his energy was up there but refreshing. Sakamaki, looking at the attendance I noticed there were quite a few Sakamaki boys in this class, perhaps they were all related? "Ayato, do you have any siblings?" I asked him, he nodded, then started to name them all whilst counting with his fingers. "Kanato, Laito, Shu, and Reiji..oh and Subaru but I haven't met him yet." he explained, which confused me, he has a brother who he hasn't met yet..? "Woah~ Look at this class Kanato, it's nice and colorful and we have such a cute teacher, hello Teacher." Two boys entered the classroom, the one with emerald green cat-like eyes spoke. I smile warmly at the boys. "What are your names?"I asked them, looking towards the boy with the purple hair more, he had an interesting safety teddy bear, it was so cute. The boy with emerald green eyes spoke however in his stead. "I am Laito and this is my brother Kanato, oh I see you already met Ayato, we are all triplets." Laito states, I keep these things noted, just in case it was a part of my training. "Can I sit already?" Kanato asks, I smile and nod at him. "Yes of course, find the seat with your name on it." All 3 of them go to their assigned seats. I feel bad they were all so far apart from each other but they will be able to hang out during lunch break.
"Subaru, this is the classroom." I heard some way say with such a formal tone his voice when I looked at him was just a kid, he had raven hair and glasses, next to him was a shorter boy with pale skin and hair, eyes red like blood, and a taller blonde boy who looked like a prince. The boy with glasses looked right at me and bowed his head slightly. "Ahh that's not needed, please find your assigned seats." I told them and I noticed the raven haired boy went to the seat of Reiji, he sat right next to Ayato. They did not look alike at all but they had the same last name and Ayato did say these were his siblings. The seats of Subaru and Shu were sat in as well, they were right next to each other. “Ayato, these are all of your brothers?” I asked him, he nodded. “I guess so, you must be Subaru, what’s up?” He shouted from across the room. Subaru looked at him and his cheeks flushed slightly then he looked away, I still didn’t understand why he said it like that. “Um Ayato, I’m confused how come you never met Subaru…even though you are brothers?” I asked him. But before he could speak the blonde prince looking boy named Shu spoke “you clearly never heard of half siblings..dimwit” he said harshly, woah kids really can say crude things sometimes.
A few more boys came in, 4 came in at the same time they clung to each other. “We’re the Mukami siblings, nice to meet ya teacher~” a spunky blonde haired boy exclaimed. I liked his enthusiasm. “Please take your assigned name seat” I tell them in a welcoming tone and they do do. It was an interesting dynamic. Reiji, Ayato and the boy Ruki said in a desk row together, Shu, Subaru, and a boy named Yuma all sat together, Kanato sat next to Azusa, he had strange marks on him I hope everything is okay at home… and Laito and Kou sat together. Supposedly there was supposed to be 3 more students perhaps they were lost..? When I started to lose hope, 3 boys came in one had long white hair and the other short spiky strawberry blonde they both had similar eyes, they must be brothers, and the boy without a last name Kino, he refused to sit in his assigned seat.
“Welcome students my name is Ms. Komori, I will be your teacher for the year, it’s a pleasure to meet you all.” I say warmly. The silence was killer…”hm let’s start with an ice breaker, everyone say their name and something they like to do, I’ll start my name is Ms. Komori and I like to read.” I say, causing some of them to scoff and snicker. “How lame, I’ll go now! My name is Ayato and I like to win cause’ I’m the best at everything!” He says, I couldn’t help but notice this kid has some serious narcissistic tendencies. The next boy went “My name is Sakamaki Reiji and I enjoy reading as well, but I prefer to conduct experiments.” He states, well he will definitely like the science projects I have planned then. “I’m Mukami Ruki, I like reading as well.” He says briefly, I noticed him holding a book. “Oh what book is that?” I asked him, he looked dead at me and said it wasn’t my business…okay then.
“Laito here, pleasure to meet you Miss Bitch, my favorite thing is to watch girls change” when he said that my eye twitched a little, he’s like 10 years old saying things like that…what on earth is wrong with this child..? “I’m Kou, I like to dance” he says, I smiled at him. I think Kou would like the talent show aspect I have planned for the future. “Azusa…I like pain…” the next boy said. “Okay I think we have to talk about this briefly, you shouldn’t like pain it is not a good thing” I tell him, he looks at me confused.
“Alright kids, ice breaker is over, don’t be upset I’m sure we will all get to know more about each other, for now I want to focus on this lesson. You all need to understand that pain is never a good thing, in life we must do good things to make other people feel happy and comfortable, hurting ourselves does damage both in the heart and the mind.” I say and point to both my heart and mind. “Father didn’t tell us our new teacher was a simpleton human…” Reiji said to Ayato, causing all the boys to snicker. These kids really are something else….

Aether is doing his weekly commissions, how curious that all of them require flowers. Still too unaware of how it could be misunderstood he does through his day.

+ a mini drawing
Checking the tasks on the board Aether gasps pleasantly surprised “ oh! If we do these requests we can be free by 6 pm!”
“And you can go on your date~~ we already know” paimon floats around his head, swimming in annoyance at how repetitive aether has been the last week. ‘I'm finally going on a date with YN’ yeah, because they asked, you coward; ‘I made sure to reserve a nice table at good hunter’, there are only three tables, there aren't many to choose from. Even then she can find his boyish smile and unexpected pep on his step cute, the traveler's first love~.
“Oh? What do we have to do? Don't even think about making paimon make another sausage or beacon, or Paimon is going on a strike!” just thinking about mixing for hours the meat with salt and spices and pipping it in the casing manually already made her small hands hurt.
“no, no, we just have to deliver some flowers, see” he points to the first three requests, one asking for 3 mist flower to try on a new wine, 10 sweet flowers for Helen and 5 cecilias for Albert”
“ That seems easy enough! Do we have enough in the backpack?” she drapes herself on his shoulder to peep inside, soon after she holds the bundles of flowers that when held together they look like a bouquet, the brightest blue drowned on white petals of the cecilias and a few dashes of yellow from the sweet flowers “yep! Let's go!”
Aether soon snatches the bouquets and goes on his way.
Request 1: Helen needs sweet flower x10 for a tea for her sore throat.
Dashing past Flora's shop aether is able to see Helen on her balcony, reading a music sheet for her next song
“Miss bard, we got the sweet flowers!” Paimon yelps underneath, catching her attention.
“ Ah! Thanks traveler, can you pass them to me?” Helen leans forward and downwards to grab them but isn't even close to where Aether is, even when he tiptoes.
Getting the sudden idea, he jumps as he steps on the wall, just high enough to where he could grab one of the columns of her railing and pull himself up, now Helen could grab her flowers, with her hoarse voice she smiles and tosses a pouch with mora “thanks traveler, here is your reward’
Paimon thinks sweetly, already tasting the roasted pork or the sweet Madam ‘one request done, two left~ ♪’
But that wasn't what just happened in Flora's and Donna's eyes
“ Did you see that? He just hung from the railing to give her a bouquet, like a forbidden lover” Donna chats with Flora, who is as interested as her.
“ And then she whispered something to him before giving him something, could it be that they are dating?”
Request 2: Albert needs cecilia x5 for a gift
As usual Albert was waiting on one of the sides of the church, nervously pulling his sleeves and his lips moving without saying a word, rehearsing a speech.
“Hey! Albert!” From the top of the stairs he calls out for him, swinging the white bouquet trying to get his attention. Soon after his arm and himself are being yanked to a corner away from the nuns, who already noticed the two men but didn't comment on it more than a few curious gazes.
The blond fanboy snatches the beautiful bouquet “Keep it down! Everyone can see you” he whispers at him, poking his head to see if the nuns were watching.
“I don't think they are going to tell Barbara… at worst they may get the knights involved” Paimon's squeaky voice teases.
“Hum! Not everything I do is because of Barbara, you know?”
“Oh, my bad”
“Either way you think she would like them?” his cheeks catch a bit of color and Paimon can't help but sighs at him
“Ugh… yeah, sure, they are pretty but doesn't she like philanemo mushrooms?”
“Those ugly things?! How could you- wait it could make sense! She managed to find beauty in such an ugly thing~ typical of our Barbara" he grabs the bouquet, thinking of adding a few of those ugly mushrooms between the delicate and beautiful flowers "If she likes them I should give that to her, then. But where do they grow?”
“You better get another reward ready if you expect us to also give you philanemo mushrooms too!” paimon yaps over aether's shoulder as he scratches his neck and he looks inside the backpack.
“ No, we gave our last to Mona”
“Oh… My confession…”
“ Well! Then we can escort him to the dawn winery and pick up some fresh ones! And we also get paid for it too!”
“ The next request is at the winery either way so it wouldn't be too far off”
After thinking it for a second Albert nods and walks alongside aether to dawn winery, each holding a different bouquet, Albert the cecilia one meant for Barbara and aether holding a bundle of mist flower for the next request.
°•°
The sweet Madam stands on the table half eaten, both legs and breasts cut off and one thigh on the chicken and another on aether's plate. E
“ So, uhm” you attempt to ask him about the bouquets or his date with Albert or if he has a hidden relationship with Helen or why he accepted this date or even maybe if there was a bouquet for you. But now seeing him perk up at your voice like a bunny didn't really cause the same cuteness aggression as usual. “ Nothing. Don't mind me. Actually I'm not feeling too good, I think I'm going to pay and leave” a hand falls over your stomach, as if you wanted him to buy the story.
Soon after you pay and start walking to your house, sighing in defeat he goes to pay his part Sara passive aggressively teases him.
“having more than one boyfriend or girlfriend is hard, huh?” Her smile thin and stiff as she counts the mora “don't feel too bad, most people your age hardly have one lover, three would be too much”
“ Three lovers?” Aether asks, confused if anything he only wanted one! You!
“ Oh, c'mon, with how forward you were this morning, all of Mondstadt already knows.” She writes down the sweet madam you two shared and the payment “Who would have thought Albert would let Barbara go and get a proper lover, good for him. I was getting worried he wouldn't grow out of idol crushes and live alone”
“ But I'm not dating anyone…”
She looks up, equally confused “ but the bouquets you were giving to people this morning?”
“ Those were requests”
She stops for a second, a little O forming between her lips, as she looks at him her only advice was ‘Then I would hurry to clean that misunderstanding up, boy’
His pink and plush lip is now trapped between his teeth, something that Paimon only ever saw when they were exploring the chasm and a boulder suddenly blocked the entrance, forcing him to find a way out. The whole 4 hours that took his bottom lip was firmly between his teeth and soon after split in half and showing an ugly scab for a few months.
Quickly turning around and sprinting outside the town, Paimon flops around like a fish fresh out of water as he holds her hand.
“Slow down! what is all that hurry for?!”
Halting cold on his tracks he turns around and holds Paimon's shoulders, his eyes blown wide.
“I have only wanted two things since I came here. To find my sister and for YN to give me an honest chance. The first one doesn't seem close yet, and I might be about to ruin the second one so help me make the best bouquet possible” His caramel eyes showed such a determination that could only be overshadowed by the warm glow of a pyro vision.
“Alright?”
°•°
Some things have to be exact and round, is what you love to think. The quantity of pillars around the Knight's headquarters should be even, or at the very least the first flower bed whenever you enter mondstadt, it should be lined with the flow of the street and not off by a visible enough amount.
Event then there are concessions you are willing to make, flower beds can have an uneven number of each pair, and fruit weight doesn't have to be on the dot (as much as it hurts to see the 2.7 grams away from the perfect 100grs) and now it's perfectly reasonable to roughly estimate the hour. It's four am you guess, maybe in another situation you would have noted the time exactly to the minute but hearing the panicked banging on your door that is an estimation you are willing to make.
“Who is there?”
“Aether. Can we speak?”
Sighing but still giving in you start the planned explanation “Look, I didn't know you were already dating, it was too embarrassingly to admit-”
“ No, wait, just have this and then you can reject me after” he pushes a big bouquet against your chest, a soft scent emanating out of it, both sweet and floral, and a refreshing feeling to the touch of the freshly cut mist flowers.
Seeing you stunted enough to not speak immediately he starts rambling “ I know it looked weird, and I fully understand if you don't believe me or what I'm saying now, but I assure you those weren't flowers like because of love, UHM this is but not the ones I gave-”
A light shushing slips from your lips stopping him in his tracks and you touch his shoulder “I see I misjudged your actions. It's pretty late to let you. Why don't you let me prepare some coffee for you and your company and pick up from where we left?” Aether can't nod fast enough as he is slowly coerced inside to your sofa, his stomach bubbling with a mixture of nerves and puppy crush.

John was sixteen when he figured out he was living alone.
He probably should have realized it sooner. Months since he left his brothers and moved up north with his father, but then suddenly, all he had was silence and free time. And not in a good way. His father suddenly had little interest in anything except his job and fishing. John could probably die in the woods one day and his father might not have even noticed.
Or maybe John just thought he wouldn't.
John is sixteen when he leaves home for the first time, spending weeks making his way back down to his mother's house - only to find it sold off and abandoned.
The whole trip took over a month but when he returned and was asked where he was, John didn't know what to tell his father. He said camping and it was accepted without fight or worry.
He wonders how long he could be gone at a time.
John is sixteen when he gets a job. It is just part time and doesn't pay a lot, but it is enough for him to get a bit of extra income to spend on the things he wants. His father's job pays well for the both of them to live but John doesn't really see any of it outside of basic bills he has to pay to keep the lights and heat on. He likes the movement and the work, and he gets to talk to people although John doesn't really say much. By this point, he's pretty used to the silence.
He is sixteen when he guts a fish for the first time. His father was gone for a week and there was little food in the house - with less money - but plenty of fishing poles and bait. He goes out, catches a fish and follows a video on how to gut and cook it. His father comes home irritated that his pole and some of his bait is missing but he calms down when he sees leftover fish on the stove. He doesn't apologize for the outburst, but John doesn't expect him to.
He is sixteen when he tries alcohol for the first time. He doesn't understand why his dad likes it.
He is sixteen when he gets lost in the woods for two weeks.
He is sixteen when his father disappears for almost an entire month. Considering John had done this himself; he doesn't say a word when his father trudges through the door looking for dinner.
He is sixteen when he breaks his first bone. It's only his finger but it still hurts. His father wraps it up so it would heal straight. John still isn't sure it did.
He is sixteen when he steps into that tiny hometown church and he leaves the service that day not certain God exists but if He does, maybe John isn't entirely alone.
He is sixteen when he makes a friend. It's not a person.
He is sixteen when he creates his clue board, trying to track down his brothers. He asks everyone; he gathers all of the evidence and intelligence he can. He spends weeks perfecting travel down to his hometown to try and investigate.
He is sixteen when he realizes no one knows anything. Fifteen years of being neighbors with the same people and no one knew where his mother took his brothers.
John is seventeen when he spends his birthday alone just outside a simple old cabin, huddled around a fire with a candle in a marshmallow. He only has one wish.
John is almost seventeen and a half when he can entirely live out in the wilderness by himself if he wanted.
He almost did.
John is seventeen and a half when he follows a girl from church to the recruitment office. They both have things they are running from and neither of them judge. Neither of them can. She stands by his side as they fill out paperwork and she asks him if he's okay. He hasn't been asked that for years.
John gives her a grin that's only partially fake and tells her never better.
John is seventeen and a half when he leaves home for the last time.
And then realizes it was never home at all.

If you were being honest, you’d lost the track of the conversation after Ms. Kelley, the school council, had winced as she saw the list of Colleges that you’d chosen to apply on November. You instead had chosen to look behind her, seeing a flyer about the student council, student council.
“I’m sorry dear,” she finally spoke louder, making you snap your attention towards her again. “I know you want to go to these schools and your grades are incredible but you need some extracurricular activities at least for now if you want to be accepted and need the financial aid,” she explained to you, a soft look on her face.
“I was the head cheerleader in my other school and I joined the cheerleading squad,” you explain to her, and yet you could see the blank expression on her face. “But I’ve been working all my free time since I got here,” you whispered softly.
“Maybe, you could volunteer in the church,” she said but you quickly grimaced.
“I already do that too,”
“Oh, I don’t see it in your file,” she explained as she fumble with the papers that you’d brought her while you pinched the bridge of your nose.
“I don’t want to add that,” you said through gritted teeth and she frowned, before sighing.
“Well, maybe you can change the Universities you have chosen and aim a little lower,”
If there was something that you hated the phrase aim lower. You’d been by Craig since he appeared into your life that you were worthless, that everything concerning you should always be a little lower, that you weren’t worth the time or the attention; and you spent your life proving him wrong. You were on the path to becoming valedictorian in your last school, you were the head cheerleader and you took care of your sister who was at the top of her grade.
You’d spent your life trying to be the daughter that your parents knew that you were, the one that they raised in the few years that they roam this earth at the same time as you.
You could never aim lower.
It would mean that you betrayed them.
Blinding rage came over you but you held it together for appearances because at the end of the day you knew that Mrs. Kelley wasn’t being a bitch on purpose, at least that’s what you told yourself to calm down.
“I only want these schools, Mrs. Kelley,” you stated through gritted teeth and she nodded while raising her eyebrows, noticing that maybe you were a bit upset.
She stayed silent for a second, eyes roaming your record over and over again, checking if she could find anything else that you would fit in, anything else she could do for you. Your eyes fell again on the flyer behind her and your mind lighted up.
“What about student council?” you asked her as she raised her head towards you, then she followed your gaze as she took the paper from the board as examined it.
“That’s the icing on the cake, that’s what you need,” she explain, a pretty smile drawn on her face as she looked at you before she glanced at the paper again and frowned. “The elections are in a month, though,”
Your stomach suddenly dropped as she handed you the paper and you read that indeed you had about three weeks to create a campaign, make everybody in the school that you’d just arrived know you and vote for you.
“I…” you stated as you tried to find the words. “It’s going to be so,” Mrs. Kelley cut you as soon as she realized that you were trying to assimilate how much you would have to work to be elected President of the student council at Hawkins High.
“I am aware, but you have the grades, your cheerleader squad, and a good story to be told,” She said softly with an encouraging smile. “You would be a great candidate,”
You sighed. “No one knows me,”
Mrs. Kelley gave you an apologetic look for a moment. “Just try, come on if these schools are your dream, you owe it to yourself to try,” she said.
I owe it to them, you thought.
You blew out an anxious breath as you walked out of the small room, you put on your headphones trying to quiet your frantic heartbeat, your mind raising as you were already trying to figure out what options you had. Two options could happen: One, you would simply avoid the option of running for student president and risk losing your dream university. And two: she could run and fail miserably because she was mostly the unknown new girl who’d been in Hawkins for just over a week.
There was a beat of silence.
There was a third option though, you could win.
“I’m going to run for president of the student council,” you stated as you walked towards Eddie who was waiting for you in his locker. He always waited for you before lunch and you appreciated it, it didn’t matter the scrunch noses people would give you or the surprise looks, you found Eddie a true friend.
“What?” he asked.
“I’m running,” you stated, nodding along as if you were trying to convince yourself.
“Hm,” Eddie stated uninterested.
“Please, give me your opinion,” you said with a frown in confusion at his reaction.
Eddie sighed as he ran his hand full of rings through his long mane as people stared at both of him. Honestly, you still didn’t get the commotion, it was as if a girl in a cheerleading uniform couldn’t possibly be seen with someone wearing a hellfire shirt.
“You know, you seem perfect for the role,” Eddie said with a shrug.
“But?” you asked anxiously as your gazes met.
“Why is there a but?” he chuckled while you groaned.
“There’s always a but,” you said as you raised your eyebrow.
“Not with you,”
“Really,” you scoffed as you turned right to your locker and started unpacking the books, Eddie leaned on the locker next to you.
“I’ve known you for about two weeks and you are one of the first people that has treated me like a person,” Eddie stated as he looked at you with a small smile, those that you’d notice he didn’t let people see easily.
“You are my friend,” you stated seriously before taking his hand and giving it a little squeeze, you didn’t mind the multiple rings, you simply wanted to assure him that he was great before you frowned in realization. “What about the others?”
Eddie laughed. “They were scared first and half of the school thinks I’m a freak,” he stated.
“You are not,” you scoffed closing the door rather strongly, annoyed at his comment.
You’ve realized in the couple of days you’d known Eddie that he liked to sell himself short, he liked to say that he wasn’t the big bad boy he usually showed off and that he, maybe, wasn’t good enough. Just like everyone else had told you in life and you’d refused.
“y/n,” Eddie stated seriously as he walked alongside you.
Eddie raised his brow with barely concealed amusement and you smiled.
“Maybe a little,” you sighed before he pushed the door of the cafeteria for you.
“That’s how I like it,” Eddie said with a shrug. “But you are great, I mean, you are a cheerleader that has no problem being seen with me in the cafeteria,”
“You guys and your stereotypes!” you whined as you rolled your eyes.
“It’s true, it isn’t like Chrissy would hang out with me,” he stated as he longingly looked at her on the table destined for the cheerleaders.
“That’s not true,” you responded easily, Chrissy was honestly one of the kindest people you’d found in Hawkins alongside Eddie. “Maybe, you should just talk to her,”
Eddie scoffed as he glared at you. “Right, because is so easy,” he stated sarcastically and you gave him a little push before you reached the lunch line. “Anyway, you’ll be fine,” he said nonchalantly, immediately biting your bottom lip at the thought of running for Student president while you got your lunch. “Nancy’s going to help you with all of the speeches, Jonathan can help you with the posters and photographs anyway and Robin can be the one that creates films for the school news or whatever, and I…” he said as he walked towards the table the group would usually hang out. “I will play at every one of your events,” he said as he raised his hands and bowed down for a moment.
You let out a small laugh.
“Thank you,”
“And it’s not like you’re invisible,” he said as he sat down. “People have seen you and notice you,”
“Right, because I’m Hawkins High latest gossip,” you said with a scoff. After two weeks people weren’t still tired of looking at you and trying to find out new things, you’d notice their looks and the whispers in the hallways.
“Yeah, and because you have Hargrove running like a little puppy behind you at every turn,” Eddie stated and you froze.
“That’s not true,” you scrunched your nose. “He hasn’t talked to me or even gotten near me since we fought,”
It was true, Billy seemed to be avoiding you like the plague since the day at Peaches and although it seem to be for the best, you didn’t know why your mood seemed to be a bit bitter after it. You knew that there was something up with him, and yes, you appreciated that he’d stopped stalking you and you appreciated the little space you’d gotten after your last conversation. You still recalled how it felt when he leaned down and got so close to you, you still remember the scent of cigarette and something like the sea that invaded you while you glared at those big blue electric eyes.
“Well, he would be good for votes,” Eddie stated as he started to eat and you couldn’t help but turn around and glance at the table where Billy usually sat for a few moments before he went to his Camaro.
Suddenly, your eyes met. He held your gaze and you held him, it was only for a second, and yet, you couldn’t help how your heart slowly twisted as he immediately looked away from you in an even more aggressive way. You winced at his reaction and you frowned. You didn’t regret kicking him out of Peaches, he deserved it after calling you a bitch but maybe he was right, maybe you were too defensive around him given your track record with boys like Billy. You still had to do an assignment together and although you were for sure stubborn, you were aware that you needed Billy to do the assignment right and bad blood wasn’t good for a successful project.
Maybe that was it, you just needed to clear the air. Or Maybe he was done with you, you thought.
“So, who’s ready to party?” Steve announced as he sat down on the table loudly along with Robin, who rolled her eyes in a mostly amused way.
“We definitely are,” Eddie announced, he couldn’t hold back that mischievous smile he usually gave people.
You smiled before giving a last look at where those golden curls were and you sighed.
“Don’t forget the thing that I asked for,” you stated before beginning to stand up.
“Wait, where are you,” Robin asked but you cut her off.
“It’ll be a minute,” you warned her before you walked towards the table, soon people such as Carol or Tommy H., or even Tina began to turn around as you got closer.
You sighed, already annoyed at the unwanted attention but you knew you had to do this and you had to do it now before it seemed like it was too late. You composed yourself as you arrived at the table, back a little bit more straight and your nose pointing to the sky while you stood next to Billy while he still avoided your gaze.
“Hey, Hargrove,”
Honestly, Billy was just glad that it was Friday already. Because avoiding you had gotten to be tiring as well. He’d been able to evade conversation in English by showing up as soon as the class bell rang, sitting far in the back, and left class as soon as it was over before you could even get a word in. And any time he saw you walking towards him, he’d walked the other way. Nonetheless, Billy was running out of options, he was aware that you would eventually talk to him about the assignment and yet Billy felt like he couldn’t even look at you after the dream that he had of you. Especially when you were looking like that in your cheerleader uniform, skirt a little bit too tall as his eyes lingered on your legs for a moment. It was a short skirt and Billy had to help himself for his lips not to quirk up slightly as he recalled his dream.
And yet, he was aware that you would try to corner him after a while and you’d be successful because, despite your unassuming expression and goody-two-shoes persona, Billy could tell that you were determined.
And here you were.
“Yeah,” he stated curtly and you frowned.
“Can we talk?”
Billy sighed and rolled his eyes, trying to feign an annoying attitude to mask the way he felt his face warming up. You stared at him, waiting for his answer as the people around him snickered and gaze at you, especially Jason Craver who you’d been avoiding like the plague as well.
“Yeah, come on Billy,” Carol gushed. “Go with the princess,”
You rolled your eyes at her comment.
“Sure,” Billy finally stated, unable to think of a quick enough excuse.
He quickly stood up and motioned for you to get out of the cafeteria, walking in silence towards the parking lot, specifically his Camaro. Your eyes still gaze at the car like the first time you’d seen it. It was a good car and you couldn’t help to smirk at the thought that you’d left him behind but suddenly, Billy cleared his throat.
“I’m sorry,” you finally sighed, looking straight into his gaze as he frowned.
“What?”
You bit your inner cheek while placing your hands on the pockets of the leatherman jacket cheerleaders you had on. “I’m sorry about biting your head off at Peaches,” you replied truthfully, although you felt your ego hurting a bit as you stated.
“Kinda deserve it,” Billy said with a shrug.
He did regret the way he’d said that you were a stuck-up bitch. You didn’t deserve it.
“You did,” you reason and Billy smirked and cocked his head as he looked at you through his lashes; you tried to pay them no attention but it was a bit hard. “Look I want us to at least make this project in peace so, what do you say we have a truce?”
Billy raised his eyebrows, tongue sticking out of his mouth in a playful manner. He probably had the most infectious smile that you’d ever seen and you but your lip as you gazed at him.
“A truce, princess?” he asked. “Or maybe you’ve just been missing me?”
You snapped at his words, raising an eyebrow while glaring at Billy.
“Don’t push your luck, Hargrove,” you warned him.
At least that fire wasn’t gone, he thought.
“Okay, okay,” he said with a smile, pressing his tongue to his cheek as he watches you carefully.
“So, truce?” you asked him as you offer your hand.
Billy smiled, he really smiled as he took your hand into his. You smile at him as if it would avoid feeling the goosebumps appearing over your skin by the way his calloused hands touch you. Maybe he held you for a little bit too long, maybe you let him hold you a little bit more than what you’d anticipated.
“Truce,”

Sleep Over (Ghost Oneshot)
Summary: Luna was a Sister of the Clergy; well-known and well-loved by most. She didn't talk much but she sure was good at knowing when people were down. She was also in charge of taking care of the Ghoul's Den - cleaning, restocking, laundry and more so it's safe to say she's well-known and liked by the ghouls that she often sees. So when she notices Phantom having a rough day; she puts her skills to good use to help him relax.
Prompt: "What, does that feel good?"

The music was playing softly in her ears from the earbuds stuck in her ears; blocking away the noise of the hallway as siblings bustled around chatting and doing their chores together. She was oblivious to her surroundings as she swept the walkway while softly humming the song she listened to under her breath; she was blissfully unaware of the figure that was approaching from behind while her gaze focused on the broom that she effortlessly moved back and forth as she cleaned up the stones of the debris of fallen autumn leaves that fell from the trees and swept through the lawn; the weather was beautiful despite it being early October and the chill of Autumn hadn't fully kicked into full gear leaving some of Summer to give beautiful calm mornings such as today. When a hand gently touched her shoulder Luna spun around with a gasp of surprise nearly knocking over the figure that stood behind her looking just as startled.
"Marie! I'm so sorry, I didn't hear you come up!" the girl pulled her earbuds from her ears and gave a sheepish smile to the older woman.
Marie was an older Sister who had been at the Clergy since the beginning of the Church and worked closely with Sister Imperator. Marie always struck Luna as a serious woman with a hidden soft spot for some of the younger Siblings but Luna never had an issue with her before even when her presence made her a little nervous.
"No, that's alright. I was just coming over here to inform you that the Ghouls have gone to practice and it's laundry day." she informed clasping her hands in front of her and giving Luna a pointed look.
The girl blinked at her a moment before her eyes widened. "Oh! Oh yes of course! I'm so sorry, I completely forgot." her cheeks heated red.
"I'll get on it as soon as I'm done here!" she added quickly as she gripped her broom.
"Very good." Marie gave a nod before she turned and headed back up the path.
Luna blew out a breath before returning to her work; her hands a bit jittery now as she finished up sweeping. She loved working in the ghouls' den but they made her nervous. Despite being a friendly but quiet person and working around the ghoul den for a while now doing some manual tasks for them; she didn't really interact with them much even if they tried to initiate contact. It was a rule that most siblings shouldn't be encouraged to seek out interactions with the ghouls but as one of the very few selected to deal with chores in their personal space, Luna had the opportunity to have those moments.
The ghouls fascinated her and she'd heard them play once or twice as she passed by the rehearsal space while going to and fro from chores and loved their music and skill but it was something personal and a little intimate to be within their personal quarters. She hadn't been on this job for long - maybe a few weeks at most but it always gave her a thrill when it was her day to work within their space.
When she was done with her sweeping she quickly put away her broom only to trade it in for the supply cart in the hallway before making her way down the hall towards the ghoul's den. She knew by Marie's previous words that they were at practice but just out of habit and respect she knocked; when she didn't hear a response as expected she entered with a spare key she had for the door - a key highly coveted and given to a very rare selected few; exchanged between only the two people who did the chores around the ghouls wing.
Luna entered pulling the cart in with her but just as she was closing the door she heard a noise behind her and spun around in surprise - no one was supposed to be in here but her at this time. Her cheeks heated when she spotted a shirtless Rain stepping out of the bathroom in the hallway who now stopped in utter shock like a deer in the headlights of a car.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry!" Luna spun around while slapping a hand over her eyes. "N-no one was supposed to be in here at this hour!" she felt her cheeks heat up again that reached to her ears that burned hot.
"Sorry! Luna right?" Rain said laughing nervously.
"N-no it's okay! Uh yes. You know my name?" Luna stammered nervously.
"Well, yeah. You are here at least twice a week. Kind of hard not to notice." Rain chuckled as he wiped his face from the water droplets running from his hair.
"Uh yeah..." Luna smiled slightly at the knowledge they knew her by name. "Again, I'm sorry for intruding. I was just here to grab laundry for wash day and see if there was anything needed restocking; I can come back later if-"
"Ain't it our little birdie coming back huh? Is it laundry day already?" Swiss' voice came from behind Luna and she jumped not having heard him come out.
"You know you don't have to look away all the time; we're okay with you seeing our faces doll." Swiss laughed as he gripped her shoulder causing her to hesitantly drop her hand and raise her eyes to meet his.
He was smiling down at her with his signature Swiss smile. "See, we aren't that scary." he patted her shoulder.
"If you don't mind my asking...what are you guys doing back?" she subconsciously looked down at her digital watch on her wrist in confusion.
"Papa wasn't feeling good; still hungover from the night before and Phantom also had a headache so we cut it short today." Rain said.
Luna turned around with a concerned look on her face. "Oh? If Phantom needs something I can go grab him some painkillers or something else. Whatever you guys need let me know!" she smiled slightly and clasped her hands together.
"B-but if you don't mind; I'll go ahead and grab your laundry if you have any?" she added
"Yeah, sure. Thanks birdie!" Swiss grabbed one of the totes from her cart and headed for his room to grab his laundry.
Rain smiled slightly as he placed his wet towel into another tote before pointing down the hall. "If you don't mind Luna, would you mind going to check in on Phantom?" he began grabbing some items from her cart to restock the bathroom.
"What? No hey wait that's my job!" she tried grabbing back the items
"Tsk. Stop, we are capable of maintaining our own space. You hush." he bopped her on the nose playfully with a warm smile before he headed for the steam-filled bathroom.
Luna stared flabbergasted; what was she supposed to do with Phantom? She didn't have anything to give him...but maybe she could get him something if he needed it - she'd have to ask him. Gathering up her courage knowing that she was pretty much breaking a rule by initiating conversations with the ghouls at this point she headed down the hall.
Dewdrop and Mountain were nowhere to be seen but Phantom's door was open a crack and dark inside. She politely knocked before nudging the door open.
"Phantom...I'm sorry to disturb you but...Rain asked me to check in on you. I'm Luna...I'm here to grab your laundry for wash day. The others said you weren't feeling well. Do you need anything?" she asked softly as she stood at the threshold peering into the darkened room.
She could make out a lean figure sitting on the edge of the bed with his head in his hands and her heart pinched in sympathy. He didn't say anything at first and she thought perhaps he hadn't heard her but then his head lifted and his tired eyes gleamed from the light in the hallway; he didn't look so good.
"Oh, you don't look well, do you?" she murmured as she walked in with tentative steps and rested a hand on his shoulder. "Can I grab you anything? A glass of water or maybe something from the nurse's office for your headache? Just tell me what you need."
She was surprised that instead of pushing her away or telling her to leave Phantom actually wrapped his arms around her and buried his face into her stomach to hold her tight. Her hands hovered awkwardly not sure what to do but she could tell how his body seemed to relax against her and she smiled slightly as she rested a hand on his head. Softly carding her fingers through his thick dark hair. This elicited a chittering sound of contentment that ended on a groan as her fingers softly scratched at his scalp.
"What, does that feel good?" she laughed softly as she continued to do that.
"Why do you always smell good?" Phantom grumbled against her as he closed his eyes at the feeling of her hands in his hair. "You always smell good, you always sound so pretty, and you have a calming presence." it was almost a grumble at this point and Luna felt her cheeks flush with a blush at the compliments.
"I-I don't know." she replied "Thank you though..."
Biting her lip she glanced at the door and nudged at the ghoul's shoulder. "But really, do you need anything? I don't know what ghouls can take that'll actually work for headaches but-"
"Just you. Just stay like this with me a little bit longer." Phantom's grip tightened on her as if he was afraid she'd pull away. "You're helping my headache go away."
"Phantom...." her voice softened as she gazed down at him with a small smile. "I have to grab laundry you know..."
"Fuck laundry." the quintessence ghoul tipped backwards causing Luna to fall with him on top of his chest. Phantom maneuvered her the way he liked; scooting her up the bed to his pillows before stretching out across her body while resting his head against her chest. He was sure to hear the pounding of her heart but he didn't seem to mind as he snuggled against her like an overgrown cat.
"I-I can't stay Phantom...I'm already breaking a rule talking to you..If anyone finds out what's going on I could get in trouble." she murmured staring down at the top of his head.
"You won't get in trouble." Phantom yawned "Just lay here with me a little while longer. Please." his head lifted and his eyes stared up at her imploringly; damn those big eyes she couldn't say no.
"Alright. Ten more minutes and then I do really have to get back to work, okay?" she caved but her rewarding smile from him was worth it as he rested his head back down and her hand began combing through his locks again.
The room was silent for a while after that until Luna spoke up. "Did you mean what you said? Do I really make you feel better just by being here?" she asked biting her lip as she stared up at the ceiling.
"Mhm." Phantom nodded against her chest. "I'm a quintessence, Luna. Your aura...your very soul. I can feel it. It's like a balm that makes me feel so much better. No other drug could ever do what you do." he sighed contently as his large hand idly stroked up and down her arm draped over his back.
"I'm glad." Luna smiled into the dim room. "I don't think anybody had said that to me before." she laughed a bit at that. "No one seems to notice. I'm just that quiet girl that helps out around the Abbey." she mumbled.
"Well, you certainly do it for me." he replied giving her arm a squeeze.
"Thank you." she whispered closing her eyes.
She didn't realize it but sometime while laying there she'd fallen asleep; when her eyes finally snapped open it was to the sound of the door creaking open causing her to gasp in surprise and look at her watch.
"Oh shoot!" she jolted upright knocking Phantom off of her and jostling him awake "We fell asleep! Oh, man it's late!" she stared at the clock realizing that she'd missed out on dinner and her duties for today. "Sister Marie is going to be so mad!" she began scrambling up from the bed but an arm wrapped around her waist yanking her back down.
"Chill, hey. Calm down Birdie!" Swiss stood in the doorway with a plate of food in his hand. "We got it taken care of. She's been informed and that other sibling stopped by to grab the laundry for you. No need to panic."
"What?! No no no! It was my job, I wasn't trying to slack off."
"You weren't. You were aiding one of the ghouls. Don't sweat it." Swiss chuckled as he entered and placed a plate in her lap. "Here, got you something to eat. Just relax. You're all good." he told her
Luna looked down in surprise at the plate that held a sandwich and some fruit on the plate. "This...thank you. That was very nice of you Swiss." she gave him a small smile. "I'm sorry to have bothered you."
"You weren't bothering nobody." he smirked "Although, Phantom may start bothering you instead. He's been addicted to your presence since the first day you started working this job for us." he chuckled.
"Fuck off asshole." Phantom hissed at him feeling a blush ting his cheeks.
"Alright alright. I'm gonna go watch a movie with the others. Feel free to join if you want." he offered before leaving.
"God, that's kind of embarrassing." Luna laughed covering her face. "I didn't mean to fall asleep like that. I hope I wasn't bothering you Phantom."
"Bothering me? You put me to sleep too." he laughed with her as he reached around to steal a grape from her plate.
"But...I mean Swiss was right...Your presence does make my day." he mumbled leaning his back against the headboard. "I...I wouldn't mind it if you came around more." he shrugged looking away.
"You really want me to come around more?" Luna asked looking over at him with wide eyes.
"Yes." he replied honestly meeting her eyes.
She stared at him a long moment before shyly coming to sit shoulder to shoulder with her and held out her plate for him to snack on. "I'd like that too." she replied with a soft smile.
"Anytime you need me just...send for me yeah?"
Phantom smiled over at her and bumped his shoulder with hers. "I'll light the bat signal whenever I need you." he replied but Luna could already guess; Phantom would be seeking her out a whole lot more often than just to help him.

Twice Bitten, Never Shy - s.h. | e.m.
Tumblr media
Summary: Eddie is alive. You don't know how, but it doesn't matter, does it? He's here, except... he's not back. He's been distant; sneaking out, skipping Hellfire. But tonight? You and Steve are finally going to find out why.
Word count: 4.3k
Pairing: Steve Harrington x fem!reader x Eddie Munson
Warnings: vampire!Eddie!!! blood drinking, baby!!! if that grosses you out, maybe skip this one. I literally have no clue why Eddie would be a vampire but he is and he's still Eddie. Some self-flagellation (he chains himself up) and starving on Eddie's part, hurt comfort, angst with a fluffy ending.
A/N: oh lord. *drops this and scuttles away* Exposing myself as a vamp Eddie truther. Hope y'all like this one! In this fic, blood drinking provides a relaxing "high" for the drinked (blood provider).
BTW I wrote this with a plus sized/heavier reader in mind but there isn't much description of her body. If that bothers you then *shrug.* Eddie would think everybody's blood is fucking delicious.
Happy almost Halloween! Eddie Munson drink my blood WHEN.

"We should do something special."
"Huh?" Steve looks up from where he was stacking videos. “You mean for Halloween?"
"For Eddie," you say. "I think he could use some cheering up."
“Is something wrong?” Steve asks, immediately alert.
“No, no." You shake your head. "I’m just worried about him.”
Steve hums. “Dustin said Eddie's been missing Hellfire.”
Eddie Munson had been pronounced dead seventy-seven days ago. Dustin had returned alone and Steve had held you while you cried. The funeral had less than twenty people, limited to Wayne, Hellfire and the lunch club. After they'd lowered Eddie’s empty coffin into the ground, you’d sprinted into the church bathroom and lost your breakfast.
Two weeks later, Eddie had climbed through an open window in his trailer. He’d nearly given Wayne a heart attack. Bloody and dirty, it'd been short of a miracle no one had called the cops on him.
But he's back. And that's all that matters. Right?
“Wayne says he hears him creep out at night,” you confess. “Won’t tell him where he’s going.”
You and Steve had found solace in each other after the earthquakes. You’d established a routine of sorts, both of you working to provide relief and comfort for the people of Hawkins. And at the end of the day, you'd slept over Steve's house more nights than not. While Hawkins had only known the earthquakes, those of you who’d experienced Vecna’s horrors up close remained haunted. Steve’s bed had been warm and he hadn't minded when you’d curled up closer to chase away the nightmares.
“Where do you think he goes?”
You can't see Steve behind the shelves but you hear his implication. No one has an explanation for how Eddie had returned. The frightening thought that perhaps Vecna isn't as gone as you'd hoped lingers. Eddie won't talk about what happened—not with Wayne, and certainly not with any of you.
“Please don’t make me tell you,” he’d said the first and only time you’d dared to ask.
“I don’t know, Steve,” you reply quietly. “I wish he’d talk to us.”
He stands and approaches, movies in hand. Steve pulls you close.
“We could check on him through a movie night?" He holds up three videos. "Eddie hasn't caught up with the new releases. No scary stuff.”
Steve tries for a smile. You mirror it, grateful he's on board.
“Yeah," you nod eagerly. "And we’ll get food from the diner. Eddie likes their burgers. Do you think he's eating enough? I mean, he has to eat something but I keep thinking what if the Upside Down made it harder. Is Wayne noticing? Should we—"
"Y/N," Steve soothes. "Hey, hey. Deep breath."
You lean against him, forcing air into your lungs.
“Sorry,” you whisper. “I’m just worried. I miss him. Which is stupid, 'cause he's back but it's not same."
Steve squeezes your hip gently.
“I know. Gotta say, I miss the old Eddie too."
"I should've checked on him earlier," you lament. "Just seemed like he was avoiding all of us and I didn't wanna push but…" You throw your hands up. "I don't know!"
"No, I get it. I think checking on him is a smart idea, baby. Eddie’s been acting off and we'll sort it out. I’m sure he’s just been working through what happened, y’know? Like the rest of us.”
“Yeah,” you say, wanting to be as confident as Steve. “You’re probably right.”
Tumblr media
The trailer park is dead. You suppose that's due to the fact that most people are still recovering from the earthquakes. You personally aren't too keen on being out after dark either.
Eddie's van is outside. Wayne's truck is not. Steve jogs up the steps first and knocks on the doorframe.
"Hey, Munson, it's us! We brought some food and movies. Thought maybe you could use a…" Steve glances at you questioningly. "Night in?"
"With friends," you add. "If you'll have us."
“I chose the movies,” Steve offers.
“I screened them to make sure they don’t totally suck,” you grin, earning an eye roll from Steve.
No reply. You peer in through the screen door. There are a few dishes in the sink and a single lamp is on by the couch. Besides that, no sign of life.
"Eddie?" you try again. "You there?"
"Y/N?" croaks a voice.
You catch a silhouette of dark curls, just out of light's reach.
"Hey, Eds," you say softly. "It's us. Me and Steve."
"Uh," comes the reply. "H-hey. What're you guys doing here?"
"Thought you could use some company," says Steve. "We come bearing gifts. Got diner food and everything." He shakes the bag. "Your favorite heart attack on a plate."
"And movies! We can finally make Steve watch all three Star Wars."
"Yippee," deadpans Steve.
"Oh," Eddie says thinly. "That sounds great, guys. Y’know I'd love to, it's just I'm—I'm super sick. Sick as a dog. You guys should go."
"We don't mind, Eds," you murmur. "We just didn't want you to be alone. Have you eaten? I can make you some soup."
You start to turn the handle.
"Don't!" he yells, loud enough to startle you.
Steve rests a hand on your back. "What's going on, man? Everything okay?"
"Nothing's… I just can't today. Go home, please."
The shadow disappears. You glance worriedly at Steve, who shakes his head. He pulls open the door and you hesitantly follow him in. The lock chain has been snapped off.
"Eds, you don't sound okay…"
Across the trailer, Eddie's bedroom door slams. You whip your head around. Steve steps forward, holding an arm out to keep you behind him. He sets the food on the counter.
"Eddie?" you call out, voice getting higher. "Eddie, what’s going on?"
"I'm fine!" is the instant response. "Go home. I'll c–catch you tomorrow."
There's a thump behind the door. Then a jangling sound, like that of metal. You peek around Steve's shoulder.
"Eddie, this isn't cool," he warns. "C'mon, man. If something's going on, tell us."
You both know what the other is thinking: had Vecna returned? Eddie had his oddities now and then, but he'd never shoot you down like this.
Steve puts a hand on the doorknob and turns. It's locked.
"You need to leave." Eddie's voice is sharper, like he's in pain. "I'm serious. Go."
More metal. A heavy clunk. Then Eddie cries out, quick and cut off.
"Eddie?" you say again, jiggling the doorknob. "Eddie, let us in!"
"Go away!" he growls, nearly unrecognizable.
That's enough for Steve. He drags you back and throws all his weight into the door. It splinters open, and you both stumble through.
"Steve!" You rush to him, hovering. "Oh my God. Are you okay? Anything hurt?"
"I'm fine." He picks up his head. "I'm… holy shit."
You turn. Eddie is in his desk chair. He's hunched over, wheezing quietly. Around his wrists and chest are thick iron chains. You can see burns where the iron touched his skin. He's paler than usual, alabaster to the point of concern. But the biggest difference is Eddie's eyes. Normally a rich brown, the irises are now a dull red. And they're locked on you.
He looks mortified you're here, though you'd bet good money he isn't as mortified to see you as you are him.
"Eddie, oh my God. What—what are you doing? What happened to your eyes? Are you on drugs?" you blurt, going to your knees in front of the chair. “Steve, call an ambulance.”
"No! Don't touch me! Y/N, please. Both of you. You have to leave."
"I'm not leaving you, not when you're chained up! Who did this? Eddie, what's going on?"
You struggle with the chains; you can hardly believe Eddie managed to heave them over himself. He rolls back before you have a chance to try to free him. He sags against the armrests.
"Leave 'em," he pants.
"They're hurting you! Steve, help me," you beg.
Steve gets closer, then stops.
"Steve, come on," you urge. "He's in pain, what are you…"
Steve looks at you, then at Eddie. Carefully, he steps in front of you.
"Eddie," he begins. "What happened in the Upside Down?"
"I," Eddie chokes. His eyes are glassy. "I was dead. I am dead."
You stand, about to approach. But Steve holds your arm. Wearily, Eddie watches you. He shuts his eyes and opens his mouth. Long white fangs protrude from his top gums. It's a wonder they don't cut into his lip.
"Jesus Christ," breathes Steve.
"Eddie?" you try meekly. "Wh-what…"
"I came back a monster!" he explodes. Steve's grip tightens on your arm. "I have to chain myself down to keep from hurting anybody. I can't eat, can't sleep. Hawkins should hunt me down."
"Don't say that," you say. Your brain is static. "You're not a monster, Eddie. Whatever it is, we can—"
"You need to leave. I can't—"
He crumples with a shout. You jerk forward, slipping out of Steve's grip.
"Eddie! Ed, talk to me. What's wrong? Steve," you urge. "Steve, please help me get these off of him."
"No," Eddie grunts. "Steve, get her out."
"No!" you yell. "I'm not leaving you like this. Tell me what will fix it. What'll make the pain go away?"
"I just have to wait it out," Eddie says, but his eyes are sunken, cheeks gaunt. Monster or not, Eddie is killing himself.
"Not if you're in pain! Is it Vecna? Is he making you do things?"
"No," Eddie sniffles. "No, he's not, and that's the worst part. It's all me. I'm the fuckin' sicko who has to chain himself up so I'll keep everybody safe."
"Safe from what?" Steve demands.
Eddie looks at him, maroon eyes wide. And you know. You both do.
"It's in all the D&D books," Eddie laughs wetly. "Should've seen it coming. Self-fulfilling prophecy, really."
"You… " You swallow. "You can't wait it out forever, Eds," you say. You put a hand on his knee. "You have to eat."
"I can't," he cries. "I tried so many times. But I can't keep anything down. Not even animals. I swear to you."
"I know," you soothe. "I believe you. It's okay."
You bend over him, inspecting the worst of the burns. Steve hovers, still unsure. He winces at the angry red welts criss crossed over Eddie's arms.
"Steve," you say, swallowing hard so you won't tear up in front of Eddie. "Get the first aid kit. It's in the medicine cabinet."
You'd insisted Wayne have one after he'd sliced his finger fixing your car.
"Whoa, hold on. What are you doing, Y/N?" Steve asks.
"We have to tend to the burns. I'll stay with him."
"No," Eddie begs. "I don't trust myself. I don't wanna hurt you, Y/N. I can't. Please don't do this."
"Eds," you hush. "You won't hurt me. It's okay. I'm gonna help you. Steve?"
Steve, after much deliberation, hurries out to get the first aid kit.
"I don't need first aid," Eddie mumbles. "It'll heal as soon as I take 'em off."
"I figured," you say quietly. "Just wanted Steve to take a minute alone. Will you at least let me untie your feet?"
Eddie had bound his feet with heavy duty nylon rope, and they cut into his ankles.
"No," he grits. "I have to protect you guys."
So you crawl next to him instead. You aren't afraid. He's still Eddie.
"How long have you been doing this?" you murmur.
"C-couple months. Ever since I came back. At first I could ignore it but the hunger pangs got stronger."
You make a soft noise, chewing your lip.
"You gotta eat, Eddie. This is killing you."
"Can't kill something that's already dead," he huffs. "Anything's better than hurting people. I'll never eat again if it'll keep people safe."
You put a hand to the side of your neck, feeling your blood pulse through your veins. Eddie looks away, face twisted. Steve returns then, tossing the kit beside you. He goes to his knees next to you on the floor.
"What happened? Y/N?"
"I'm okay," you say. "Eddie's been starving himself since he got back."
Steve's mouth drops in horror.
"That's almost three months. How are you still going?"
Eddie eyes him warily. "I did what I had to. What if I attacked somebody? Couldn't—"
He stops, whimpering in pain. It's getting worse, his hair matted with sweat.
"Steve, get these off him," you order.
"No no, Y/N, you don't understand," Eddie panics shakily. "This is the only thing holding me back."
"You don't have to hold back," you say softly.
"What're you talking about?"
You take a deep breath, trying to keep your voice measured.
"You don't have to hold back because you'll drink from me."
Eddie throws himself backwards at that, shaking his head.
"Nope, no way. Absolutely not. No way in hell."
"Y/N," Steve starts. "Are you sure…"
"He's sick, Steve!" you burst. "This is the only way to help him. What are we supposed to do? Let him waste away?"
"But what if something happens…"
"Eddie's not some bloodthirsty monster," you snap. "He's starved himself for months and he's still lucid and begging us to leave. He'd die before he asks for help."
Steve's resolve is slipping. Eddie's close to losing consciousness.
"This isn't something a hospital can fix."
Who knows how much longer he can go like this?
"I can't lose him again," you beg. "He's our friend."
Steve sighs, body sagging in defeat.
"Okay, okay. But we need ground rules. If you start feeling dizzy or anything, it stops."
"Deal," you agree.
"I'm serious, Y/N. If anything feels off, you have to say so."
"I will," you insist. "Okay?"
"No, not okay, not okay!" Eddie wails.
"Eddie." You take his hand; it's like ice. "Let me help. I want to do this. You're not hurting me, not forcing me. I promise."
Steve lifts the chains. You help Eddie to the floor. When he doesn’t protest—or, perhaps, is too weak to do so—you scoot closer. He still won’t let you remove the rope, drawing his legs back each time. So you straddle his thighs, hyper aware of not letting all your weight sink onto him.
"Get comfortable," Eddie says when he realizes what you’re doing. "I can take it."
"I don't wanna hurt you, Eds."
“I got you. Can do that, at least.”
His hand fits over the soft curve of your waist. You glance at Steve, who's now on the bed. He gives a single nod, leg jiggling. You turn back, cupping Eddie's shoulder. His eyes are still a cloudy red. They meet your own.
"Are you sure about this?"
You tip your head, presenting your carotid.
"Yeah, Eds. I trust you."
Eddie hums, fingers digging into your plush hip. His eyes dart to Steve, then to your neck. He holds your other side like you’re made of glass.
The first pinch of teeth stings. You focus on not reacting too much because anything amiss will spook Eddie beyond reason. His breath is hot on your skin, and as the first sip of blood coats his tongue, Eddie's grip on you tightens. He groans against your neck, hand slipping down to grab the meat of your thigh. You gasp, body growing slack as he drinks.
"You alright?" Steve asks.
"'M fine," you reply breathily.
The more Eddie drinks, the heavier your eyelids get. The sting turns pleasant after the first pierce of teeth. You feel oddly euphoric, limbs syrupy. Even better, Eddie's strength returns as he feeds. He holds you to his chest and bends his knees.
The rope snaps like dental floss. He grunts, pulling your thigh over his hip. You cling. It’s getting hard to keep your eyes open. You've never felt like this before. Eddie pushes against you, chest heaving as he greedily gulps.
"Eds," you gasp, hyper aware of your pulse.
He seems to be in a trance.
"Shit, okay. That's enough, c'mon," Steve urges.
You’re slow in tapping out, feeling floaty. But as soon as you squeeze Eddie's shoulder, he’s off of you. He gasps like he’s just run a marathon. Drops of your blood smear across his lips. His tongue darts out to catch it all.
Steve supports your weakened body, easing you off Eddie. Your head lolls but you manage a smile, not wanting to worry them.
"Are you okay, baby? Did I hurt you?" Eddie asks, honed in on your expression.
"No," you assure. "Feels good."
His brows rise. "It does?"
"Mmhm. Floaty. Like… sleepy but good."
Eddie looks better. Guilty as anything, but you can handle that later. He isn't comatose and that’s all you care about right now.
"Oh, uh," he says, licking his lips. "I’m glad, then. Thank you."
"You can suck me anytime," you grin, which makes him smirk.
Steve helps you onto Eddie's bed, and you roll over to watch him. Eddie’s more alert, not desperate for blood. But he’s drumming his fingers and bouncing his leg, something he does when he’s nervous.
“What’s ‘a matter, Eds?”
“Hmm?”
You nod slightly.
“Why’re you all jittery?”
Eddie immediately stills.
“'M not. I’m okay, really.”
You frown.
"You're still hungry."
Eddie's eyes dart to you, not dull but still nowhere as vibrant as you know they can be.
"You need more," you realize.
Of course he needs more. After three months of starvation, it’s impossible one person would be enough. Especially when he’s not bleeding you dry.
"I'm not drinking anymore from you, Y/N," he tells you. "Absolutely not."
"You have to recover, Eds. How can you heal if you're not properly nourishing your body?"
"I got through it without eating at all. I'll be fine on half a tank. You're staying right there."
Weakly, you push yourself up on your elbows. Steve hurries over, trying to get you to lie back down.
"C'mon, sweetheart, you gotta rest."
"Eddie won't take care 'f himself," you protest. “What if it doesn’t work, Steve?”
"I'm fine!" Eddie insists. "Really, I feel much better."
Steve chews his lip. "Would more blood get you at one hundred percent?"
"Whether it would doesn't matter, Harrington. I'm not taking any more blood from her."
"I know," Steve shrugs. "Take it from me."
"Steve," you whisper. "Don't do it for my sake. I don't wanna push you—"
"You're not. But you're right: he needs to recover. And nothing will do it better than, uh… food."
Steve coaxes you back to bed. Then he goes to the floor and sits back on his haunches. The look he gives Eddie is pure King Steve, a ghost of the past. You know it’s all for Eddie's sake and maybe yours, this shroud of confidence.
"So, Munson? What d'you say?"
Eddie glances at him, shoulders stiff.
"You don't have to do this."
"I've got more blood than her," Steve reasons. "And you need it."
"I don't need it," even though sweat had begun to gather on Eddie's brow. "And I don't wanna force you into anything."
"You're not," Steve says, gentler this time. "C'mon."
"You're sure?"
Steve rests his tongue on his teeth, tilting his head.
"Yeah, I’m sure. Bite me, Munson."
"If I hurt you…" Eddie begins.
"I'll watch him, Eds. Promise," you say. "Go on, drink. It's okay."
Steve doesn’t sit as intimately as you had. But they aren't far from each other: Eddie holds the side of Steve's neck and Steve grips Eddie's forearm in return, their left legs slotted against each other.
Steve's breath hitches at the first bite. You see his grip tighten then relax as Eddie drinks.
"Jesus," Steve gasps. "How is this still not the weirdest thing we've ever done?"
"Nothing beats that Vecna creep," you giggle sleepily.
Steve’s arm starts to wobble from where it supports his other side.
"Feel okay?" you ask.
"Mm," Steve affirms, lids drooping. "Feels kinda nice."
"Tingly, right?"
He laughs. "Yeah. Warm, too. Sh-shit."
His arm buckles. You can't imagine trying to support yourself while Eddie drinks. The bite is meant to incapacitate, presumably. But Eddie's strong. Each time Steve slips a little further, Eddie hoists him back. Both hands now hold Steve's waist.
"Wait, Eddie," Steve slurs, tapping Eddie's side.
Eddie pulls off immediately, wiping the blood with the back of his hand. His eyes are fully crimson now, almost glowing in the dim light.
"You okay? Steve?"
"'M fine, just needa lie down. Don't have the strength."
"Oh," Eddie breathes, expression a little wild. "Okay, shit, uh—here."
And easy as anything, Eddie scoops Steve up into his arms. Steve scrambles for purchase, but you know how boneless he feels.
“Let ‘im carry you, baby,” you say. “He’s got you, ‘s okay.”
Eddie has to do most of the labor. He sets Steve next to you on the bed. You slip your hand in Steve's, drowsily curling into him.
"Y'want more?" Steve asks, open and trusting. "I can take it."
Eddie licks the drops of blood from where his fangs had pierced Steve's neck. Then, without hesitation, he dives back in, less delicate this time. Steve whines, hips canting slightly. You watch on in a doze, pushing Steve's hair away from his face. Your face presses against his neck, which twitches with each gulp of blood Eddie takes. Lazily, you drag your lips up to the shell of Steve's ear. He whimpers, hand slowly finding the back of your head.
"Y/N," he gasps.
"Hmm? Y'okay, Stevie?"
"'S good," he sighs. "F-fuck."
Eddie stops before Steve taps out. He pulls back panting, wiping the corner of his mouth with a knuckle. Steve is sedative. You’re nowhere near alert.
"Fuck," Eddie grunts, chest heaving. "Fuck, fuck. All those books that talk about the blood rush made no sense. Now I get it."
As if on instinct, Eddie curls an arm around each of your waists, hefting you up so he can curl into you. You pat his head blindly. Steve only hums, draped over Eddie's shoulder.
"Feel good, Ed?" you ask.
"So good," Eddie mumbles. "You guys are warm. Been cold these months. Can’t shake it.”
You feel his forehead with the back of your hand. It’s fruitless, logically; Eddie is dead—or, well, undead. His body temperature isn’t going to be like yours.
Eddie chuckles, vibrating your chest.
“Don’t think that’s gonna work, sweets. But the blood made me warmer.”
“Tha's good. Can we eat somethin’?” you ask. “Feel dizzy.”
“Oh, shit,” Eddie hisses. “Shit, shit!”
Steve startles, trying and failing to wake up.
“Wha‘s the matter?” he slurs. “Eddie?”
“You need sugar! I had to retake that bio unit twice! Fuck, fuck. Don’t worry, I’m gonna get you something. Stay there, okay? What am I saying, you have to stay there… Jesus.”
Eddie carefully sets you down and climbs over Steve’s legs to race to the kitchen. You seek out Steve, like a flower to sunlight. He hums as you snuggle into him.
“Weirdest movie night I’ve ever had,” he mumbles.
You smile, kissing his cheek. Steve scrunches his nose happily.
“Are you okay?”
“Mm, yeah. Should recover soon. Feeling a little more clear. ‘M kinda dizzy though.”
“Yeah, we gotta get our blood sugar levels up,” you hum. “I hope Eddie knows leftover lasagna isn’t sugar-rich.”
“Got it!” you hear Eddie call back.
“Hm. Super vampire hearing. Dope,” Steve says.
“It is!” Eddie replies.
“Stop eavesdropping!” you giggle.
“Can’t help it!”
Eddie’s back in what feels like a minute. He sets down uneven chunks of sliced apples and a sleeve of Chips Ahoy, as well as two glasses of orange juice. Steve starts to try and sit up. Eddie’s quick to help you both up, stuffing pillows behind you.
“I’ll make it more comfy, I promise,” he says, frowning at the way Steve’s head lolls.
“‘S okay, Eds,” you yawn. “Next time.”
Eddie pauses briefly, then takes a cookie, putting it to your lips. You take it happily, chewing slowly. He brings a slice of apple to Steve, who frowns.
“I can do it, y’don’t—”
“The blood loss hit you harder, big guy. C’mon, take a little,” Eddie coaxes.
Steve pouts for another moment, but eventually opens his mouth, eyes droopy. Eddie beams.
“Good. You’re both so good, know that?”
Eddie brushes a crumb from your mouth.
“So are you, Eds,” you say. “And no more starving yourself, okay? I mean it.”
He nods, looking properly chastened.
“‘Kay. I won’t. But I dunno where I’m gonna get blood. I suppose I could try animals, but…”
“Hellooo?” Steve huffs, rolling his eyes. “We’re right here, man.”
Eddie blinks.
“What—”
“Did you think this was a one time thing?” you ask.
“You guys can’t do this every time,” Eddie scoffs.
“Why not?”
Steve reaches for the juice. Eddie takes it and holds it to Steve's lips before he can. You smile, heart swelling with fondness.
“There’s two of us,” Steve continues, wiping his mouth with his hand. “It makes sense.”
“Steve, you can’t be serious—”
“The hell I’m not, Eddie. We’re not letting you get sick like that again. Now shut up and let us take care of you.”
Eddie rolls his eyes and feeds Steve another bite of apple.
“Don’t remember you being this bossy, Harrington.”
“Well, that was before earthquakes and vampires, Munson. Tell ‘em, honey.”
“Yeah, Eds,” you say softly. “We’re here.”
“Oh.” He swallows hard. “Fuck. I didn’t—you guys really…?”
You open your arms. Eddie falls into your embrace. You kiss his hair.
“We missed you,” you say.
“Missed you too,” he whispers. “So much. ‘M sorry I kept disappearing. Was just scared.”
“We’ve got you,” Steve soothes. “No more doing this alone.”
Eddie sniffs, wiping his nose.
“Shit, guys. ‘M supposed to be this badass vampire. You’re cramping my style.”
“Your secret’s safe with us,” you laugh, patting his shoulder.
“Can big, bad vamps still watch Halloween movies?” Steve asks. “Is that in the handbook?”
“'Course, baby.” Eddie leans in close, fanged grin on display.
“And don’t worry. I’ll protect ya from the monsters.”

Mom saw the notice for "Spare Rods" in the church bulletin. Someone was making and giving away spanking paddles to parents for bible-based correction. Their twins were getting older, she thought, and they should start using a paddle to spank them.
The paddle arrived three weeks later. Mom presented it to Dad, who thought using it to discipline the girls was a great idea. Before putting it into service, however, he sanded one side of it smooth, so it would be more suitable for swatting a girl's bare bottom.
It wasn't long before the twins needed correcting again. Dad showed the girls the new paddle and told them the days of going over his knee were over. From now on, he said, they would bend over the back of the sofa for bare-bottomed paddlings. The board did an admirable job of reddening their behinds and correcting their behavior on its first use.
As it turned out, the paddle was also an excellent implement for correcting careless wives. Mom had backed her Pathfinder into a car in the church parking lot. She said it was due to the glare on the back up camera monitor. Dad was having none of that, and he had her bend over for bare bottom swats with the Spare Rods paddle, just like their daughters.
Mom later wondered how many wives got spanked with these paddles, the ones which were purportedly provided for the correction of children.

His Saving Grace
Chapter Two
1114 Klaus x future daughter reader
I recommend re-reading chapter one as I made some major changes. I know I promised this update two years ago, but university got in my way and when I came back to these old stories a lot of re-vamping took place.

The year is 2030, Y/N the daughter of Niklaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall. A powerful young witch which threatens the survival of Malivore. In retaliation Malivore unleashes a time fay to return to the past and kill Klaus to ensure his survival.Y/N is Hope’s younger twin, now that no one remembers who she is the job is left to y/n to stop Malivore.
Tumblr media
“You still live in the silences between my thoughts.”
Y/N resisted the urge to sign impatiently as the crowds around her soared and rejoiced as the pastor preached. The loud voices screaming into her sensitive ears, highly agitating her short temperament. Y/N hated church, she was by no means an atheist but she was a witch and a woman living in a time where she could be hanged for simply defying authority. So with that in mind Y/N had begrudgingly entertained Alaric, to keep up the role as godly saints whom attended church every Sunday.
For the past weeks tempers were high within the household, Alaric and Davina could only watch as she battled silently with her demons.  Putting up a saintly farce everyday in the village as boys swarmed for her hand in marriage and village girls scowled jealousy. As someone who was influenced by the strong women in her life, to always be true to ones self and to never shape shift into society's ideal, the pretense (and the besotted men) were killing her. Alaric was getting far too accustomed in his daily ritual of turning away marriage proposals from haughty mothers and corpse like men.
Pulling her away from her thoughts was the strain of her far too tightly, bonded corset. Thank the old gods she was from a thousand years into the future. Now Y/N realized why her Aunt Rebekah mostly if not always bit the heads off every man she met. If I had to suffer almost seven hundred years in such a tightly wounded corset which restricted most movements I would have done the same Y/N thought impatiently. As the preacher vivaciously expelled the devil with the crowd, Y/N reaching a breaking point silently casting a notice me not charm and made her way to the exit, silently huffing as she straightened her ankle length, grey dress which carried a turtleneck-like neckline. She wore a pristine, white shirt underneath whose sleeves puffed loosely around her arms but knotted tightly below her elbows. On top of her grey dress carried a loose brown corset of sorts held together by a length of ribbon criss-crossed. This corset did not converge in the middle, rather it showcased about five inches of the grey vertical striped pattern upon the bust and midriff as to emphasise her figure. Stitched upon her grey skirt was a length of brown which stopped at least six inches above her grey ankle length skirt, but it was gauged elegantly upon her right thigh allowing an elegant stylish slide flow. After all she was her Aunt’s niece and secretly she hoped it pissed off the conservatives in the crowd. Oh yeah! that speech about playing the part was not translating so well into her everyday life.
Finally reaching a safe distance, out of sight from zealous fanatics just upon the edge of the forest, she dropped the spell. Huffing a sigh of relief all Y/N now needed was a pack of cigarettes or some weed to make 1114 much more bearable.
“That’s quite the trick you pulled back there, little strega.” Now that snapped Y/N from her inner thoughts. Spinning around in a quite unlady like fashion, for this period at least, more than ready to confront the intruder. Only to be left dumbfounded to the stranger standing before her. But with a practiced ease which came from years of sneaking out and around  the Salvatore Boarding School, Y/N layered on her oh so innocent Mikaelson charm. “I’m sorry, what did you just call me?, I have to say I’m not aware of that particular term!” Lies, her mind rang out. Play cool, Y/N thought, talk him up just to get close enough and wipe his memory. Now that particular trick was her favourite. The stranger smirked coyly at her, “I think you know exactly what I mean, liten heks.” Y/N paced herself now, he knew old norse. Whomever this stranger was, he was clearly quite wealthy at that judging by his smooth velvet and silks in comparison to her simple cotton dress. Now she had to thread carefully, wealth clearly meant high influence and political sway in a community as small as this one. And that meant possible exposure, this man was a threat, Y/N deemed carefully.
“Now, now liten heks, the stranger went on, I mean yours truly none harm.” My heart is void of ill contempt and malevolence for one with such great power and beauty. As he spoke he drew closer towards her, his face now completely unobstructed from the mist of the early morning. Y/N exhaled softly, the stranger a man’s whose face see had seen everyday in her New Orleans home, a demon who hunted her from birth, Finn Mikaelson. But if he was standing before her, that meant the brotherhood had not yet daggered the Mikaelsons. This younger and less vengeful ghost was still a threat to her but quite possibly an accomplice. The fae had yet to reveal itself it was either supplementing its diet with animals or news of children going missing had been covered up.
The fae according to the texts preferred a warm tropical climate, for if their wings were exposed to cold they would simply fall apart. A fae’s lifeline was linked to her wings, losing them could kill the fae but iron to the heart worked just as well. All in all, the upcoming winter was now days away and left no time for procrastination which meant Y/N directly disobeying Alaric to seek the creature out herself. A venture she had no luck in, the fae who boasted of powerful magics was able to cleverly keep herself hidden.
“Not one for much words I see.” Finn Mikaelson was now standing toe to toe with her. That’s quite alright, he continue as he played with a stray curl. Y/n flinched away slightly as he stared into her eyes, carefully examining the details of her face. “If I didn’t know better, I could have mistaken you for my Freya.” Finn whispered as he continued to tug upon her curl. It was low and if not for her keen hearing it would have been swept to the winds.  Y/N kept her head high and passive, thinking to herself how much of a leering creep her elder uncle was becoming. Quite unlike all accounts of the uptight, wet blanket her uncle Kol always described. As his hand came up to caress her face, Y/N instinctively jumped back, conjuring fire within her palm which she kept safely tucked behind her. Finn only smiled sheepishly, “I seemed to have forgotten my manners, in the presence of a young lady.” I deeply apologise, I do not know what came over me, my lady.
Y/n relaxed slightly and utterly confused as the man introduced himself. As he began to speak on what not, Y/N could only stare at his face in a daze. It would take her some time to sort herself out, only to realize he had disappeared only to leave behind a simple envelope in her hand. Y/N thought back to the genuinely baffled daze Finn fell into as she made her way into town. To onlookers her face was almost dreamy, as if paying much more attention to the envelope she twirled in her hands rather than her path. But rather Y/N was silently contemplating the latent abilities of the fae and just how she could manipulate Finn into helping her.The fae a creature in the future known for its deceitful ways but that though made her wonder just how much accurate Alaric’s information truly was. It was done before, the supernatural popularized lies like silver bullets and garlic to throw suspicion off of them so what if the same was done with the fae? As Y/N ventured into the town’s market lost in her thoughts many eyes followed her, women and young girls gossiped of her weird behaviours and wayward thinking.

Bloody hell, Y/N thought to herself. Now while the young witch prided herself on being a fashionista, dresses were her absolute nightmare, well behind her murderous grandparents and malivore of course. I do have my priorities in order, thank you very much.
Somehow Davina had managed to convince the stubbornest Mikaelson into another deathtrap these humans called corsets. Y/N huffed, begrudgingly following her “parents” out of their temporary home. While she was ecstatic to receive the dinner invite to the Mikaelson home hours prior from Finn which came in the form of the mysterious envelope he left behind, she still heavily detested that damn corset suffocating her. There was just no space to hide her knives!, What’s a girl in multiple skirts and a stuffy attire supposed to do to defend herself when all her knives were confiscated on this occasion.
But nevertheless Y/N compiled it only to see her family again while also plotting to defy Alaric once again on his no knives at the dinner table rule. I mean, its not really a family reunion if someone didn’t have a devious plan in the works.

Servants scattered frantically to the sides, keeping their heads bowed as the feared Mikaelson hybrid descended the grand staircase stepping onto the foyer. Holding an impassive mask, Niklaus surveyed the immediate area ensuring the preparations to his liking. Stepping to the right of the grand foyer Niklaus strolled into the grand sitting room which doubled as a music room, the soft notes of the harp eased his twirling mind.
Taking a seat on a velvet cushioned armchair, with hands clasped elbows resting on his knees and eyes closed Niklaus thought back to the hauntingly familiar pup no he corrected himself, child. Days had passed since their first encounter and thoughts of the child haunted him. In the strangest of ways he craved her presence, but not in a way a lover does. But this vastly unfamiliar pull deep inside him yearning and pushing his self control. But if Niklaus didn’t know any better he would have called it fatherly love and as unbelievably usurp that idea sounded in his head, he couldn’t help but let his mind linger on the possibility. Barr the facial similarities and attitudes that crossed with his, perhaps it was her life that resonated with him he knew all too well the struggles of an abused orphan.
Just maybe when he meet her today, try not to give away how he always crept away at night to watch over her. By the old gods, what would Elijah think of his stalker like behaviour. If his enemies only knew of this attachment, if he only knew. Niklaus sat and wondered of the possibilities, so lost in his thoughts he nearly missed his guests arrival.

Dinner surprisingly went smoothly, Klaus was utterly entertained by the ideas and thoughts of the young woman before him. Her guardian agitated him deeply with his distrustful glances and cold demeanor.
Y/N on the other hand was on edge for an entirely different reason. As much as she wished to truly enjoy the rare company of her family, she could not help but be worried about the whereabouts of Finn. Given the  strange behaviour she witnessed earlier from him and his sudden disappearance she could not help but ponder the worst, especially given the current circumstances. It could be entirely possible Finn had aligned himself with the fae in order to rid himself of Klaus and the others. As far as she recalled, Finn had never been too particularly fond of the vampiric lifestyle and it is certainly within his motives to fix the balance of nature and forever end the vampire lines.
The rest of the night in the company of the Mikaelsons continued smoothly, with the exception of Kol getting a little too drunk and flirting with Davina. Y/N was able to enjoy the company of her lively Aunt. Soon came the peak of the full moon and the makeshift family slipped away to trap the fae. As Davina gathered the necessary ingredients for a binding ritual and Alaric his iron weapons, Y/N shared her suspicions of Finn and him possibly knowing her true identity. Both had agreed that Finn would be a potential suspect in aiding and plotting with the fae to get rid of the Vampire Sire line, him included. With caution in mind, the trio made their way towards the woods where Y/N last spoke to Finn. Since, Finn was most likely aligned with fae, the two would track him using Y/N’s blood, a plan which quickly came to a stop when the magic revealed the family together in their manor.
Relief didn’t last as the winds picked up around the trio and both Y/N and Davina picked up the excited whispers of dead witches. The brotherhood so it seemed had finally succeeded in crafting the daggers it was only a matter of time before they used it. Huh, maybe it was her paranoia seeping in earlier and Finn was just too ashamed of his earlier behaviour to make an appearance at dinner.

Can't be | P. JH
Note: This isn't my first time making a story, I'm actually an author in wattpad (hn-yn-soo if your interested). This is also g!p reader so enjoy!
Y/n has been the most naive yet dense girl known in TDoong University, and she haven't noticed the School President having her gaze on the latter whenever she passes by or sit at the front.
Park Jihyo, the cool and classy President known for her assertive aura. She gets what she wants but at the same time gentle, outgoing, caring and responsible. She never misses a beat whenever she does something, nor make a mistake so she gets elected as President for years, not just by her Latina Goddess looks but her cold as ice heart that goes soft for Y/n
But even though Y/n is kinda dense, she's popular thanks to your famous sister Myoui Mina (iyak muna walang isship kay mina) who's known from her ballet skills and a varsity in Volleyball and also famous of a rumour of her dating the Team Captain Son Chaeyoung.
Y/n, also belong in a group circle called Twice with her being the Drama Prodigy with the Brains, Nayeon being the oldest and the social butterfly, Jeongyeon classically known for Dad Jokes and Nayeon's husband after the Uni's Marriage plays, Momo the Dancing Machine, Sana the Flirt Queen, Jihyo the Latina Mom, Mina the Black Swan, Dahyun the Ambassador Queen and Church Girl, Chaeyoung the Beast Captain, and Tzuyu the Yoda and Archer Captain
And so it begins, the classes start and the girls huddled in the campus' Starbucks buying some coffees and pastries having a short meeting for the upcoming prom.
"I was thinking we could do floral theme, since it's spring" Sana suggests, drinking her iced coffee while Tzuyu takes note of what's happening
"I suggest that we have a Disney type of prom, and add the gender neutral clothing on both genders, let everyone wear what they're comfortable with. It's 2023 for GodJisoos' sake" Y/n retorts calmly with her hand raised, the girls agreeing and Jihyo thinking of it for a bit- or thinking of how to ask Y/n out now that she had grown more famous due to her recent play being more mature for the audience
"Well, if no one objects then it's settled. But I would still keep the offer, Sana.. Especially for the University week few weeks from now" Jihyo clasps her hands, the girls smiling and bickering once their meeting dissipates. The girls went out to their separate classes once they got out of the shop, leaving Y/n and Jihyo to themselves
"So, since it's your idea earlier.. Do you have a date in mind?"
"Not so sure, do you have any suggestions?" Jihyo smirks a bit, tugging Y/n close by her loose tie, fixing the knot neatly before resting her palms on the taller girl's chest, feeling the erratic heartbeat in layers of clothes. Y/n couldn't help but get stuck in her gaze, eyes wandering about her face, examining the soft and tanned skin of Jihyo's, her doe eyes that seemed so adorable to look at but scary when mad, her perfect button nose with the apparent mole she likes to look at everyday, and damn..those lips, she wonders if Jihyo had her first kiss-
"Yah, you're staring.. You like me, don't you?"
"Ha? I-I don't, what makes you say that, aish" Y/n panics, storming off making the girl chuckle to herself and follow Y/n to their classroom
"Oh come on, I'll be your date.. So you don't need to worry about your fangirls getting into your pants" Jihyo states quietly, their knowing glances were just enough for answers for unanswered questions. Y/n takes a deep glance on her once more, she watched at how Jihyo took down notes with a slight pout on her face with stray strands of her brown hair falling down on her face ever so slowly. And that was it, Y/n is starstruck once again.
"Ms. Myoui Y/n, the board is up front and not on Ms. Park"
"S-Sorry, Professor Choi" The girl nervously smiles, earning giggles from her friends and classmates and a deep sigh from her uncle Youngjae who fixed his glasses and went off to teaching
Jihyo dribbles something on a small piece of paper, smiling softly before taking Y/n's hand in hers, slipping the rolled paper in her palm before sitting back to listen to the lesson
'Be my prom date? Yes or Yes?' Y/n chuckles and gave a subtle nod, which caused Jihyo to blush deeply with a contented smile. Both had been sending quiet signals towards each other for the rest of the period, and oh love this is gonna be eventful
'ATTENTION ONCES! Are you ready to show your feels and dance the night away at this year's Prom?! Grab your friends, lovers, or yourself and show off your dance moves! The best dancers earn Queen and King of Prom, with a special performance courtesy of Twice!
See you soon on March xx, 2023!'
"Ah, I guess I did nice with the graphics. Don't you think it's a bit-"
"No, Y/n.. It's perfect, l-like you" Y/n was posting the posters with Jihyo, and she caught the last sentence but decided to keep her cool. The girls finished putting the posters up and went on to their next class which was PE, Y/n was a bit nervous since she's with Jihyo but she executed the exercises with no problem
Not until she felt a sharp pain on her chest, she excused herself and dashed towards the Senior Department where her personal doctor is
"Yoonsoo!"
"Yah! Is it happening again?!" Y/n collapses and convulsed as the pain strucks more, Yoonsoo brought her to the bed and did the procedures on her
"Fucking hell, you need a donor like now! Or else you could die!"
"I-I know.. B-But, it's too late.. I just wanna spend the remaining time with Jihyo" Yoonsoo sighs and let the girl rest, walking to her office to call someone
"Is he ready? Had he signed the papers?"
:Yeah, he did a letter too but he told me to let us open it once the operation is done
The older girls sigh and ended the call, massaging her forehead and checked Y/n's files
"Damn it, kid.. This isn't right"
Timeskip, Y/n met the girls after her rest at Yoonsoo's office. The girls were worried especially Jihyo who got up to her and hugged her, tears rolling down her face. Y/n doesn't know that Jihyo is Yoonsoo's cousin nor discovered about her heart disease, Jihyo plays dumb but has been looking over for her from afar
"I thought you got kidnapped or something, you didn't even chat me, I'm worried"
"I'm just with Yoonsoo, girl problems" Y/n winks, causing the brunette to blush and hide her face on her chest. The girls laughed at their cute antics and headed to their separate ways since the class ended when Y/n came back
"Oh yeah, do you mind if I stay at yours for a week? My parents just left for Hawaii for their wedding anniversary trip"
"I don't mind, just bring your stuff over" As they reached home, Y/n was met by familiar aroma of Adobo and Buttered Shrimp with more Japanese cuisine and Chaeyoung helping Mrs. Myoui in cooking
"Oh hello girls, get dressed then we'll eat in a few"
"Mom~ Jihyo's actually coming over, is she allowed?" Mrs. Myoui turns with a slight smirk with Chaeyoung wiggling her eyebrows, Y/n was stunned and facepalmed. Knowing Michaeng must've spilled her growing feelings for the girl
"Don't you dare make inappropriate moves, child. You and your hormones sometimes, aigoo"
"I know mom! I'm not like Mina-chan!" Y/n squeaks when she was about to be tickled by her sister, finally the door opens to see Jihyo smiling warmly and bowing at Kai who opened the door for her
"Konbanwa, Mrs. Myoui and Mr. Myoui"
"Konbanwa, Jihyo-chan.. We were just talking about you, come have dinner with us" The Myoui family ate dinner well with Jihyo and Chaeyoung, soon headed to bed early as they had to prepare for more classes tomorrow
"I'm done showering, Jihyo.. You can use the remaining hot water"
"Thanks, Y/nn!~" Jihyo caught a glimpse of Y/n's toned abs under the robe, she blushes at the sight and hurried inside the room to get herself bathed and distract her thoughts from Y/n
And speaking of Y/n, she was just on her phone typing while listening to YK by Cean Jr., Jihyo finally coming out of the room in her baggy tee and short shorts with a towel hanged on her shoulder. Y/n and her made eye contact, not noticing that Jihyo walked towards her and sat next to her, their faces leaning until their lips met ever so slowly
Jihyo had her hand on Y/n's nape urging her to kiss her deeper which the girl did, their breaths shared as their kiss became more hotter and full of passion
"Mhmm" Y/n lost it, Jihyo's tongue invaded her mouth, and she fought her for dominance. She gently pins Jihyo down, hovering on top of her completely without losing a rhythm
Their kiss went for solid 5 minutes, Y/n felt something throb in her chest making her pull away knowing this might affect her sickness. She lays back down, facing Jihyo who caressed her cheek with her hands
"Can y-you.. Cuddle me?"
"Of course, small spoon?" The girl nods, turning away before she felt a few scoots before arms wrapped around her waist. Y/n felt happy from this contact, too happy she didn't knew she got herself hard from it
They were asleep when Jihyo felt something poking her back, she grumbles in her sleep and nuzzled further back in Y/n's chest thinking she was just needing for warmth but no. The poking thing on her back throbbed which woke Jihyo up, she reached far back, feeling something rounded and girthy in her palm.
She could feel several veins bulging out from Y/n's pajamas guessing she didn't wear any underwear under her pajamas, she gasped at the length when she touched further but then Y/n held her wrist
"You..w-what are you doing?"
"I'm supposed to ask that, what's this?" The slightly tight grip woke Y/n fully yet only let out a soft moan right on Jihyo's ear-
'Omo omo omo, how is that hot?!'
'If she keeps touching like that, I'll..' Y/n thought and hid her face on the smaller girl's nape, her hips slightly moving as if looking for friction
"Yah.."
"P-Please.. J-Just let me- F-Fuck" Y/n moans, breathing softly as she humps Jihyo's palm from behind. Jihyo turns so Y/n's face is now pressed against her neck, she wraps her fingers around the girl's shaft properly
"I'm just curious, you're born with it?"
"Yeah, sorry for not telling you.." Y/n breathily moans, her moans increasing in pitch when Jihyo stroked her with her slow thrusts, almost bringing her to edge..
"T-Tissue.." Jihyo understands and grabbed a few, handing them to Y/n who immediately turned and stroked herself until huge spurts coated the tissue
"A-Ah... Finally.. T-Thank you for the help, I'll just throw these"
Y/n hops off the bed holding her still erect member, she finishes her business before coming back to Jihyo who's staring off to the window
"Hey, are you alright? Let's sleep.."
"Y-Yeah" Both had cuddled to sleep to ease the awkwardness, yet the sudden tickle from Y/n made Jihyo laugh hard and surrender to her funny assaults
"N-No more! Y/nnn!~"
Few weeks later, the girls had prepared for their prom. Jeongyeon had Y/n, Momo, Chaeyoung, Tzuyu to her place to dress up in their colorful prince-like suits while Nayeon had Sana, Jihyo, Mina and Dahyun wear their ball gowns. The girls awed at Jihyo as she looks like Latina Belle from her beautiful yellow gown which matches her tanned skin with her hair up in a beautiful bun
"Shall we go, ladies?~"
"Yoonsoo!!~" The older hugged Jihyo, smiling as the others fell in love at how the girl's outfit suited her so well as if she came straight out of Disney
"I brought the limo with me, let's go!"
The girls cheered on as they hopped inside the vehicle, Jeongyeon and the rest were the first with the couples to arrive and they waited in line for their princesses
"Omo, is that Nayeonie?? She looks like Cinderella!"
"Wah! Sana looks like Anna from Frozen! So pretty~"
"Omg, Dahyun and Momo looked so badass and cute!"
"Chaeyoung marry me!"
"Oh my, you look so gorgeous, Ms. Park" Y/n held her hand out for Jihyo who gladly took, their smiles were evident that the photographers got a lot of good shots of their contented smiles
"Damn, the tops be looking handsome, especially Jeongyeon and Chaeng!"
"Oh damn, Y/n be looking fine she can step on me"
"I appreciate the compliments, ladies.. But if you mind, I need to bring my princess inside" The fangirls wailed in adoration as they watched the couples go inside the ballroom, hues of purple, blue and white lit the room and they sat to their respective seats. The girls escorting their lovers/partners to their sides, earning squeals from the students around them
"Hey, did you bring my meds?"
"Mhmm, here.. Make sure you drink them on time, or else it might happen again" Y/n sighs at Yoonsoo's words, she goes back and her eyes were caught with Jihyo's who gave her a sweet gummy smile
It was as if the world stopped for a moment, Y/n took in the image of the girl in her mind. Oh how she wished she could love her forever, waking up to see her bright smile and soft voice, those eyes that she could drown on any day and any time. Those kiss she wanted to feel again, it's all she could wish for.. Yet she had little time left, so she makes it worth it
She felt a small pinch in her heart, her face changing a bit but composed her smile to hide the pain. Jihyo noticed this and approached her, grabbing her arm gently sent tingles down Y/n's spine
"Wanna dance? You seem off, Y/nn"
"I'm good, but sure.. Let's dance" They held each other's hand as they went in the middle, they spotted a familiar bunny pushing the DJ off the booth and plugged something into the laptop which played "Rewrite The Stars"
You know I want you
It's not a secret I try to hide
You know you want me
So don't keep saying our hands are tied
You claim it's not in the cards
And fate is pulling you miles away
And out of a reach from me
But you're hearing my heart
So who can stop me if I decide it's on my destiny?
"So, what's with the stare earlier?"
"Ah, that.. I was just thinking, a-about what we did that night.." Both had blushed as they danced as if it's their own world, soon enough their friends joined in not minding the two talking mindlessly
What if we rewrite the stars?
Say you were made to be mine
Nothing could keep us apart
You'll be the one I was meant to find
It's up to you, and it's up to me
No one could say what we get to be
So why don't we rewrite the stars?
And maybe the world could be ours, tonight
"Do you..r-regret it?"
"Heavens no! I'm actually thankful since you solved one of my worst problems, been dealing with it since I started puberty but didn't know what to do.. So I just wanna say thank you for that, you've been great to me since we were kids" Y/n smiles, which Jihyo reciprocates. Their eyes showed a glint of love, Jihyo's mind filled with thoughts whether she should confess, she thinks it's time
"I also have something to say.. I dunno why I felt like I wanna say it now but I think it's the right time to show how I feel about you"
"When we were kids, I never wanted to leave your side. I've been there even from afar, looking over you and that's when I knew.. This ain't more than friends, I get jealous over small things like how your fangirls wanted to get your heart but failed miserably but I do them to you without efforting much. A-And that night it wasn't supposed to happen but my instincts kicked in and decided to help you out, since it bothers you a lot as you said. But yeah, I'm gonna go straight to the point.. I like you, I really do.. This might shock you for a while but I'm not asking you to like me back, heck I don't even had plans confessing until now since I feel like something's wrong-"
Jihyo was cut off when she felt familiar lips pressed on her own, her eyes widened yet closed to return the kiss. The crowd fell silent for a moment, their friends watching as they let the scene unfold in front of them. Yoonsoo frowns as she watches Y/n's tears fall down, and soon became worried when she saw how her shoulders shivered badly. Jihyo hugs her, peeking over her shoulder catching her cousin's gaze sending a signal
All I want is to fly with you
All I want is to fall with you
So just give me all of you
It feels impossible (It's not impossible)
Is it impossible?
Say that it's possible
"I-I wish I could like you back, b-but I h-have a few min-" Jihyo gasps as she catches Y/n in her arms, the girl collapsing and falling into shock, Yoonsoo running over to them with Somi passing an injection to her
"Give way! Somi get the limo" The blonde leaves with the keys, Y/n stabs Y/n with the syringe to her chest and the latter wakes up to life and coughed badly
"M-Meds.."
"No, it's too late.. Call him, Jihyo" The latter nods and looked around to spot a certain boy, waving him around and he dashed towards her...
"Alright, I'm ready.. As long as my best buddy lives"
"It's too late for me too, Jihyo.. M-My leukemia had gone worse" Jihyo tears up even more, finally Somi finally came and the girls rushed into the limo and drove off to the nearest hospital....
"She's Myoui Y/n, stage 4 heart cancer prepare me an OR asap!"
"Come with me, Daniel" Somi leads the weakening boy to the assigned OR to prepare the surgery, the girls waited outside with the Myouis coming in an instant
"Where's my daughter!?"
"She's inside, mom.. I didn't know she had this, she never told anyone.. I knew she's fine mom! I-I can't believe she had this, I'm such a bad sister" Jihyo looks down at the jacket which contained Y/n's meds and a letter, she walks over to the parents and gave the letter with a scared expression
"S-She.. She wanted to tell you guys but she's scared to disappoint any of you.. I didn't even know until I saw her in Yoonsoo's office, but Y/n doesn't know that I knew now"
'Hello to the ones reading this, I may be feeling worse now or dead but hey I didn't give this to make y'all even more sad but happy. I may be gone now but remember that I'm here, think of me as the penguin roaming around Antartica sliding in the ice freely! I think of it like that instead of heaven, Antartica feels nicer than it looks, no? So yeah, don't cry for me! Be happy! If I see one of y'all cry, I'll hunt you down and scare you to the bone. Just kidding, I might be playing Legos up here but I'll be fine!
But if I ever live, I'll say this now even if Jihyo sees this. I love you, I know you'll be confessing soon from the way our interactions and feelings grew. I am just so dumb to not say it back, but I do.. I love you, my heart only beats for you so I'm not surprised if you're jealous of me hanging out with other girls, don't be.. I'm only yours, so I hope I stay alive so I give back the love you gave me.. And to the rest of y'all, I love you so much, take care of Mina and Jihyo for me in case I get taken by God here.. And don't even try to drink my coffee without permission, ask Jihyo first especially you Yoonsoo! That's all, I'm watching y'all, no tears allowed, arraseo!?
-love, Y/n<3'
"Oh my.. I hope it's not too late, I can't lose my baby" Mrs. Myoui cries onto her husband's shoulder, Kai and Mina reading the letter in tears, internally praying for their sister's surgery to be a success
"Jihyo, Daniel wants to give you this"
"What is this, Somi?" She opens the letter, the first words immediately made her tear up
'If you read this, it's probably me dead or in the middle of the surgery with Y/n. I volunteered to do this since I'm dying and at the same time my best friend is, but I know you to liked each other than we do before, and I understand that.. I even wished for the fate to have you two meet and from the glances you shared, I was right.. I knew Y/n would be right for you and love you unlike I did, I apologize if we broke up due to our busy times especially you being School President and me being a future holder of my dead family's company.
I hope you live a better life with her, you two take care of my heart or I would come back there and hunt you two. I had to let myself go in order for you and Y/n to live a great life, and love each other to the fullest! I also left something to Yoonsoo, it's a month-trip to Paris! I had bought tickets enough for you guys as a token of appreciation for looking over you while I was gone. Don't cry for me, please? Smile for me like you always do, me and Y) n might share the same heart, but she beats for you.. And I'm up here watching over you, congrats to your soon to be relationship!
-Daniel Kang <3'
"D-Dani..." Jihyo cries, but her heart broke more when Mrs. Myoui read the letter Y/n gave, she prayed that Daniel would still live but he couldn't. And speaking of the two, Yoonsoo had successfully switched the hearts, her tears fell down as she watched Daniel's monitor fell into a flat line. The other residents bowed as respect, mourning for the kid while Y/n's monitor continued in a rhythmic heart beat..
"Is Mr. Kang by himself? Doesn't he have relatives?"
"None as they died when he was young with some out of reach, me and Ms. Park are the ones looking after him.. I'll be handling whatever's left over from him, transfer the both of them into a room then bring Daniel to the morgue after the girls said their goodbyes" the nurses followed her instructions, Yoonsoo held the sobbing Somi in her arms as they marched back to the lobby where the family waited
"The operation is a success, yet.. Daniel couldn't make it"
"I'm sorry, Jihyo.." The latter nods and sniffled, they were assisted to the room to look over Y/n and said their final farewells to Daniel. Yoonsoo received a call from Daniel's company, asking about the agreement in taking over the company
"Ah, yes of course.. I'll take his position as founder and CEO of KD and Konnect"
"Yes, I'll be there starting by next week.. Just gonna arrange his funeral, I'll be expecting you guys.. Thank you" Yoonsoo ends the call, she held Daniel's hand from under the white sheet and smiled faintly.. Sighing she called the nurses to bring him out so it was just Y/n inside
"You okay? I can vouch for you so you can rest"
"I'm good, I'll just have to uh... Promote my loving fiancée as CEO of Yoohan Medical Center, hoping you'd fit in while I take care both companies of mine and ours" Somi nods and hugged her, giving her a light kiss before their attention turns to Jihyo
"Jihyo, you can have some rest.. It's been a long night"
"I'm alright, I want to stay.." The girls gave a small smile and bid their goodbyes, coming back to the prom which still continued and made up to the worried students and teachers by giving them a night to remembe while the Myouis got back home to rest as they were too stressed for the whole night..
"Hey, I got home to get you some clothes.. And some snacks too incase you get hungry"
"Thank you, Yoonsoo-ah.." The young doctor bows and left the room, Jihyo decides to change her gown into comfort pajamas and came back to see Y/n fluttering her eyes
"Y/n? Omg, you're awake.. Should I call a nurse?"
"I'm fine, I just need you for now" Y/n reached her hand out, Jihyo took her and intertwined their fingers together. Both had smiled, their eyes filled with love as they held their gaze for a short while
"So, what you said earlier.."
"I change my mind, I'll be yours.. Forever" Jihyo beams a smile, kissing her hand before smiling widely. Y/n lifts her other hand, using her thumb to wipe Jihyo's tears away then stroked her cheek softly
"I love you so much, Hyo"
"I love you more, Y/nn..always"
The end.

I was born and raised Southern Baptist. Gave my life to Jesus at 15. Got baptized in a pair of white pajamas. Then, I went to a Free Methodist college. Got a job at an American Baptist Church and have been serving in the ABCUSA for more than twenty years. I will be elected to the Board of General Ministries for American Baptist denomination this summer.
My wife is Irish Catholic. We got married in St. Teresa of Avila in our hometown. My very Southern Baptist grandmother went to her grave not knowing that piece of information.
Both my boys have been raised in the Catholic church. They were baptized as infants, and both have had their First Communions. They go to PSR classes nearly every Sunday morning before coming to worship at my church. And our sons attend Wednesday night youth group at the local United Methodist Church.
We wanted them to be part of a religious community. They are active in three. I hope that one of those sticks.
I try to get to Mass with my family a few times a year. Usually on Holy Days of Obligation, and other important days like Ash Wednesday. I really do like a lot of aspects of the Catholic Church. They certainly have better architecture than the average non-denominational Protestant building. Plus, I don’t have to do anything when I go to Mass. I can just sit there and meditate on the scriptures and get lost in the rituals.
I think one of the reasons I like going to Mass is that it gives me something to compare my own church to. We worship the same God, are saved by the same Jesus, and read (mostly) the same Bible.
From a data standpoint, however, there’s a lot going on in the Catholic Church that’s worth unpacking.
But before we dig into that - let’s just start as broad as we can: What share of Americans identify as Catholic and has that changed over time?
Tumblr media
The General Social Survey has been asking about religious affiliation for nearly five decades. Same question, basically the same response options. The results are pretty boring, to be honest. Between 1972 and 1990, the share of Americans who identify as Catholic did not budge - 26%. From 1990 through 2010, it barely shifted as well - maybe dropping a single percentage point.
But, from 2010 through 2021, the trend line begins to move. It’s pretty evident that the Catholic share has dropped below 25%. However, it’s hard to pinpoint the exact percentage. In both 2016 and 2018, the number was 23% and in 2021 it dropped to 21%. But that last figure may be impacted by a methodological issue that I discuss at length here.
Overall, though, that’s a pretty solid result. I’ve shared this graph in a few talks that I have given with Catholics in the audience, and they seem fairly pleased with this result. I mean, I don’t blame them. Between 1972 and 2010, the Catholic share dropped by a single percentage point. Not bad.
However, that’s not the entire story with American Catholicism. Not even close. Lots of Americans still identify as Catholics but how many of them actually come to a Mass on a regular basis? That’s where the narrative about the Catholic Church in the United States starts to change.

I calculated the share of four Christian groups that report attending services nearly every week or more over the last fifty years. I love a graph like this one because the point I am trying to make becomes crystal clear in the visualization: Mass attendance for Catholics has fallen off a cliff.
In the early 1970s, about half of Catholics were weekly attenders. Today, it’s about 25%. And no, that’s not a result of the pandemic. Attendance was already down to 26% in 2018 - long before the world had ever heard the word “COVID-19.”
Note, also that the share of evangelicals who attend weekly has noticeably risen over the last fifty years (up at least a dozen percentage points). Weekly attendance for both Black and Mainline Protestants has stayed relatively stable, as well.
I think what is happening in the latter two cases, at least, is that people who marginally attended decades ago now no longer identify as Protestant. That means the denominator has gotten smaller and only the truly committed are left in the fold. It isn’t a resurgence, it’s probably more like a concentration.
The burning question here is: why have Catholics seen their attendance decline so precipitously? There could be a million and one reasons for Catholic churches to be emptying out, just like their Protestant cousins. But I wanted to focus on just one today: politics. I am a political scientist, after all.

I calculated weekly attendance rates among Catholics, but I broke it down by political partisanship. I was hoping to see some type of narrative emerge. It’s surprising to note that even through the mid-1990s, a Catholic Democrat was just as likely to attend weekly Mass as a Republican Catholic.
The clear partisan gap in Mass attendance only began to open up around the election of George W. Bush. But the divide was a small one: only three percentage points. It’s continued to widen from there, though. From about 2010 onward, a Republican Catholic is about six percentage points more likely to attend Mass nearly every week compared to a Catholic Democrat.
That’s not what I would call a huge divide. And if you don’t focus on the gap and instead look at the trend line - Mass attendance among Republicans has dropped from 55%+ to below 30% now. It’s not like conservatives are holding the line while liberal Catholics are jumping ship in huge numbers.

I wanted to take one more look at this, so I pulled up the Cooperative Election Study to test a working hypothesis. Maybe the devout White Catholics are becoming more Republican, while the ones who never darken the church doors are moving more toward the Democrats. I was surprised with the result, to say the least.
First, look at the right-hand side of the graph. Among weekly attending White Catholics, there is little to report. In 2008, 57% were Republicans. In 2022, it was 59%. Certainly, no big shift there - just a lot of stability over the last fourteen years.
Now, look at the never or seldom Mass attenders. This is where things get very interesting. In 2008 and 2012, it’s pretty clear that this group was a point of strength for the Democrats. However, between 2012 and 2016 some pretty tectonic shifts were underway. Instead of the distribution being +15 for the Democrats, it now becomes an even mix (around 42% for both parties).
From that point forward, the composition of low attending White Catholics continued to tilt to the right. Look at 2022 - it’s basically a mirror image of 2008. Democrats were 50% - Republicans were 35% in 2008. Now they are the exact opposite of that.
I am not one to write myself out of a job - but it’s pretty hard to make a causal argument that theology is what pushed low attending White Catholics toward the GOP - because they weren’t in the pews to hear those arguments from the priests and bishops.
For now I will leave you with this thought: shouldn’t White people who report their religious attendance as seldom or never have the same view of politics regardless of how they answer a question about religious identity? You can probably guess that a non-attending Catholic is a bit distinct from a non-attending agnostic. I will explore just how big that divide is in a future post.
