That last anon is cooking something. The book does have a second account of daemon being a father figure to nettles. A maester swears by it in fact. The salacious rumors about bathing were told by maids and we know which rumors not to trust (some of mushroom's, singers, maids, etc).

It makes sense if nettles' arc is split between rhaena and addam actually. Rhaena joining daemon at the riverlands fulfills the father-daughter arc that is in need of confrontration and closure since s1. It wouldn't make sense if you have rhaena, addam, and nettles as dragonriders. There'd be too many of them. Someone has to go and rhaena is already a poc. The only answer here is nettles. Addam aIready exists and is non-valyrian looking.

Tbh your self-insert fantasies are getting in the way of you seeing this in an objective light. They're clearly not following the books so why are you expecting a throuple or an incestuous dad-daughter one is to one comparison from the book? Clearly nonny was pertaining to the second account being fulfilled, which would be much better than a contrived alleged cheating plot.

Shipping nonsense aside, Rhaena is a highborn girl who comes from a dragon-riding family. She may be neglected by her father, but she’s undoubtedly privileged and she does have family who do care about her.

Nettles is the complete opposite of that. She comes from literally nothing. She has no one. The odds are stacked against her and yet this little brown-skinned bastard girl claims a dragon that killed others who had the “right blood.”

She’s supposed to show us that it’s more than blood that makes us. No other dragonseed or dragonrider has gone through what she has and none of them will. She’s a survivor in every sense of the word.

You are literally missing the point of her arc if you think they can just copy and paste it onto Rhaena(or Addam or whoever) cause they are all POC(don't hide behind that word because it doesn't make you look less racist when we know you mean Black) now.

Learn how to read first before you come for me with the self-insert bull crap(rich coming from the likes of you considering that’s the only reason why you care about Dumbnyra and why you refuse to see Nettles as an actual important character):

Maester Norren’s Testimony is supposed to support not dispute the assertion that Daemon and Nettles are lovers (see the “and in this case”).

You can't cherry-pick what you want from a source(which is what you’re trying to do because you know it makes no sense that a man bathes naked alone with their grown daughter). Maester Norren believes what the maids say. He never questions it so you either drop his account entirely or you accept the whole of it.

The maids were there. They weren’t just gossiping for the sake of gossiping or making sh*t up because everyone at Maidenpool from Lord Mooton’s brother to those lowly maids could see how fond Daemon was of Netty:

As I asked the other anon, if you truly believe that Rhaena will replace Nettles what will be the new cause of Daemon abandoning Rhaenyra?

Does Mysaria still accuse him of sleeping with his own daughter and Rhaenyra believes her and orders Rhaena’s death or does Daemon just decide to abandon her and end it all for sh*ts and giggles?

What makes him confront Aemond now knowing that Rhaenyra needs him, Rhaena’s life doesn’t hang in the balance, and he doesn’t have to make a choice? What’s the reason? What’s the motivation? Don’t leave us in suspense 🙃

And before another Dumbnyra stan sends me another anonymous message talking about how mean I am or how I’m just a biased self-inserter, let me go quote myself from yesterday because you are proving my point:

A story that is unique among the dragonseeds(yes even with Addam having dark hair because he’s still being claimed by Corlys and he has a family) but you ignore it all in favor of she should be cut because there are just too many Black characters.

Let's call a spade a spade and say the main reason you want her cut and replaced with Rhaena is because you know that if Nettles is there she will be Daemon’s lover and due to the color of her skin you refuse to self-insert into a Negro like you do Rhaenyra. Rhaena is the safe option because you know Daemon can't f*ck his own daughter. Don’t insult my intelligence and say that you are doing this because you people actually want to make her more of a key player during the Dance or want daddy to pay attention to her.

I’ve already laid out how they can make Rhaena more actively involved so if you really cared about her you’d root for a story line like this:

You don’t care about Nettles, Rhaena, or Addam who all have their respective plot lines and roles to play. This is all being done to keep your sinking ship afloat(too late for that because it’s already struck the iceberg and it’s going down faster than the Titanic).

You know who can be cut/combined considering they have basically the same role (betraying Rhaenyra)? Ulf and Hugh. Oh, but that’s right, they are both white so you’d never suggest that. They are just too important to the plot for one to be cut.

Your all Negros are the same to me, they’ll have five Negros on the show and that’s five too many even though this show is majority white, I’ll lose what’s left of my sanity if they add one more so they’ve had to have reached their Black quota behind can go somewhere else and spout that bull crap to your fellow Nazi wannabes.

If people can not see how racist this cult of a fandom is I don’t know what to tell you, but I won’t be entertaining your unserious bs about Nettles on my blog when you come out the gate with racially charged language.

Otto definitely thought marrying Alicent off to Viserys was the best thing for her and the realm. Let's look at some unhappy arranged marriages we know of in ASOIAF canon to see why Otto doesn't understand girls Hightower was so misguided.

Cersei and Robert : the man was physically abusive, openly hated her family, a drunk and promiscuous. Viserys does not fit this category of man.

Lysa and Jon: Jon Arryn was older than Lysa's father. Roughly two decades older than her father and five decades older than her. Viserys while old enough to be Alicents father was not old enough to be her grandfather and Westeros is not one to care too much for age gaps.

In his mind Viserys would have been a suitable husband and she gets be queen, great honor for the daughter of a second son. He completely misses the fact that his daughter is in fact abused in her marriage. She is so unhappy and miserable because he only sees the surface level reasoning behind why she should be happy about this union.

Alicent might have comforted herself with the above knowledge as well as her being a stepmom who would have Rhaenyras interests at heart and she did, for a time until she saw the danger this could present for her children.

(While my examples are marriages that took place much later I still think they inform us on the types of relationships and arranged marriages that exist. We have our healthy example in Ned and Catelyn)

I also find it hilarious that she should have just refused her father when Daenerys, who is not much younger than Alicent when her marriage takes place, will have stans on her side instead of saying that she should have told her brother where he can shove it when he married her off to Drogo.

I agree, Otto definitely doesn't speak the language of girls and doesn't conceptualize abuse in the same way women do. To him, abuse would mean Alicent's husband beating her, cheating on her publicly, humiliating her, violently raping her and verbally assaulting her. Viserys does none of these things. By Otto's standards, he is even kind - he is polite to Alicent, talks to her, even listens to her advice sometimes. There's no concept of marital rape in Westeros; I don't imagine Otto would ever think Alicent would become sexually attracted to old man Viserys, but as long as the act itself is not imposing actual physical pain on Alicent, it doesn't really matter if she wants it or not. And any reluctance, in his view, would be a small price to pay for the privilege of being queen. Of course, he also doesn't understand his daughter might be a queer woman in the first place.

It's unfortunately a mindset many men around us still have to this day, although as a society we have made progress in advancing the issue of consent in the public discourse, even within the structure of marriage. This is why it's particularly vile to see Alicent so hated despite her being clearly shown as traumatized by unwanted sex and forced pregnancy.

Ned & Cat, while having a more healthy relationship than we usually get to see, are also a fluke. Catelyn was supposed to marry Brandon, an arrangement made by her father - and, knowing Brandon's philandering ways, she would not have been happy in that marriage. Ned replaced Brandon at the last minute out of necessity; neither Cat, nor Ned, not their parents chose this particular union. There were still two strangers bound for life, expected to consummate as quickly as possible and as a perfunctory duty. Catelyn was left at Riverrun to go through her pregnancy and birth without her husband and, to top it off, he brought a bastard with him when he came back. They did manage to make things work and they undeniably grew to love each other, but it was still very much a shotgun wedding that was absolutely not made by taking into consideration their personalities or preferences as individuals.

I'm actually so tired of Aemond Antis (and just mindless black obsessors in general) acting as if there wasn't any justification in Aemond killing Luce, or even just taking his eye at Storms End like he wanted to.

When Luce gouged Aemonds eye out, Jace knew what was gonna happen. He may not have known it would be his eye, but he saw Luce crawl to the knife and his reaction was not to be like "Put it down Luce" or any form of common fucking sense at all. He literally threw sand in his face so Luce could stab him, or whatever fucked up shit Jace wanted to do.

Jace pulled a knife on Aemond because Aemond called him a bastard (Which he is), NOT because of the rock. The rock at been lowered and Luce had been put down by the time Jace unsheathed the knife. Even Rhaena yelled "Jace!" Because she knew that was wrong. Aemond was never going to hit anyone with the rock anyway, he made threats about burning them alive. Rocks don't just randomly burst into flames yall.

When Aemond lifts the rock again, it's clearly taunting. Also, he had every right to grab the rock. He was being 4v1d. And he even tried to avoid it, he only pushed Rhaena away when she lunged at him. Then Baela punched him. Do yall expect him to just sit there and take it? Being beat by four people?

And even after, Luce showed absolutley no remorse for permanently mutilating Aemond. Even after it was said that the eye was lost. He's a little privileged shit and I don't blame Aemond for hating him.

At the feast, Luce at his grown fucking age, decides to laugh at Aemond. Still not showing any goddamn remorse. He laughed in his face, clear as goddamn day.

It was only at Storms End did he realize "Oh shit, I'm not actually all that it's just I've always been in the company of my family."

And so Aemond, now having the chance with none of the Blacks around, asks him for his eye. Even still gives him the opportunity to pick which one, and only one. He wouldn't blind him.

And Luce, still being a pussy, runs away. I mean, let's all be completely honest here, if you were Aemond wtf would you do? This motherfucker, the guy who stole your eye, didn't feel bad (Not one goddamn apology), mocked you, and refused to pay the debt runs off. People have pointed out that logically Aemond because of how it was cut would have chronic pain. He's lived with that, constant reminders for six years. SIX YEARS. And even before that was bullied by his brother and nephews.

So, Aemond chases after him. To corner him and take his eye? To scare him? I don't fucking know. But they both (As in the two of them, Lucerys and Aemond,) lose control of their dragons and neither have any control over what they do. Even Luce, his dragon as small as it was. Arrax flames Vhagar, Vhagar gets mad and chomps him. We literally heard Aemond screaming and begging for Vhagar to stop. There is no way yall watched that scene and genuinley thought Aemond wanted to kill him. If you did, I think you have some context issues and a possible lack of empathy.

And above all, Aemond showed remorse. You could clearly see he was tearing up, and regretted it.

Do I think Luce deserved to die like that? No. Do I think he deserved the fear, and to have his eye taken? Absofuckinglutley.

Aemond will always be better than Lucerys idgaf. Argue with my giant balls.

This is not a safe space for Aegon stans go away I don't wanna hear nor see you you're all disgusting and deserve to have makeup products tested on you.

Dany is not graceful as queen in books. Remember when she openly mocked quentyn in books n laughing. Her own council was surprised that why she is even laughing. She even shows immaturity in meereen court by throwing fruit on xaro. Sometimes I think her stans stans reject this as moment of immaturity. They claim meereen arc was mistake n she will learn her lesson or it's not her fault that she tried but people don't listen. I'm waiting for her to go north n show her immaturity.lol

It sort of shows that all this is intensely personal for her. She doesn’t put on a “Lord’s face” the way Ned sometimes does, there is no “lady’s armor”. She will put on a prop (”floppy ears”) or a costume (the tokar) and she can most certainly hide her true intentions if she so chooses (Astapor) but her personal feelings in a situation are always paramount and often on display. She is not Daenerys doing the job of a queen. She is Queen Daenerys, 100% of the time. Her interactions tend to be informal, whenever she can get away with it, and her emotions rather than an understanding of her duty guide her. Because nothing stops her from doing that, no checks and balances, all power is concentrated in her hands, all decisions flow from her. She is not a servant to a system, she IS the system. It’s very absolutist, very god empress. L’État c’est moi.

There was something in his face that reminded Arya of her own father, even though they looked nothing alike. He has a lord's face, that's all, she told herself. She remembered hearing her lady mother tell Father to put on his lord's face and go deal with some matter. Father had laughed at that. She could not imagine Lord Tywin ever laughing at anything. (ACOK, Arya VII)

Ned makes a clear distinction between his role as a ruler and his private life. His private life, that is Cat. That is his children, his closest counsellors, his brother Benjen. Robert, to a degree, before Ned realizes he’s become a stranger.

Jon tries to do the same thing, but to a horribly exaggerated degree. Where Dany is Girl and queen, inseperably, Jon turns to ice. (At the behest of a Targaryen, no less.)

Jon’s POV:

Kill the boy, Jon thought. The boy in you, and the one in him. Kill the both of them, you bloody bastard. "You have no father. Only brothers. Only us. Your life belongs to the Night's Watch, so go and stuff your smallclothes into a sack, along with anything else you care to take to Oldtown. (ADWD, Jon II)

Translates in Sam’s POV to:

Jon, he'd said, but Jon was gone. It was Lord Snow who faced him now, grey eyes as hard as ice. "You have no father," said Lord Snow. "Only brothers. Only us. Your life belongs to the Night's Watch, so go and stuff your smallclothes into a sack, along with anything else you care to take to Oldtown.” (AFFC, Samwell I)

It fits well with Dany’s POV:

"Rakharo is blood of my blood. His life belongs to me, not you," Dany told the two of them. Rakharo had grown almost half a foot during his time away from Meereen and returned with arms and legs thick with muscle and four bells in his hair. He towered over Aggo and Jhogo now, as her handmaids had both noticed. (ADWD, Daenerys VI)

Dany tells them. The girl Dany, who is the queen. Over something so trifling as their crush on a growing young man.

Dany is mostly emotion, little duty, no real plan. She just overthrew a system, everything is new. Jon is all plan, all duty, no emotion. His problem is the same as Dany’s: He has no private life to balance him. No spouse, no siblings, no friends, no family. These “brothers” are no true brothers. And Dany’s “blood of my blood” is just another form of servant.

How are these babies supposed to lead with no outlet for their inner lives? It can only end in one extreme or the other.

Jon does it all for duty but he seems just as arbitrary to some of his brothers as Dany allows herself to be.

But there is no good solution for either of them. The structure of the NW condemns Jon to loneliness, and he himself sends his allies away. He is alone and friendless when he can no longer sustain the all-duty facade because actual family suddenly appears within reach and requires his help.

Dany has no family to tempt her. Not a human one. Her family are her “children”. Her options to ameliorate this are blocked by her infertility, and her natural personal desires.

Marriage as a queen comes with political concerns first and foremost, which sucks, and she really struggles with that. Her disappointment with Quentyn is not political, it’s about sexual attraction. Her objection to marriage to Xaro, to Hizdaar, they always tie to love and desire. And to the trauma of childbearing and infertility. The satisfaction of a political deal successfully concluded cannot outweigh her resentment over having to subjugate her physical autonomy, sacrifice her personal desire. And that is normal for a 15-year-old girl. Heck, that is normal, in general.

Combining political power with personhood, rather than an established office, and leaving no recourse by political control or by private relief… recipe for disaster. Especially for these extremely young people.

They are in positions within systems that require them to NOT be 15 or 16 year old human beings with emotions and needs. But they cannot stop being that. And so they fail, themselves and others.

Dany chooses her dragons. Jon chooses the Starks. Both choices are inevitable. But Jon has the privilege that the Starks are his pack, his human family, his actual and true emotional balance. Within that embrace, he can rule, and rule well.

Dany’s dragons are destructive WMD’s and they give her only ever more power but no emotional balance. She will keep being god empress, and she will keep failing.

I wish you would write a fic where there’s discourse over how in ‘Golden World’, for a while, Mary becomes somewhat cold towards Cromwell once she learns about the OT3, and people are bashing her for her natural reaction. (She doesn’t taunt Cromwell that he’s disposable the way she did in one of my fics — I don’t think in actuality she’d be so verbal about it — but their relationship is strained until the Thomas Seymour attack.) Okay. So I think we all know that I am not Mary Tudors biggest fan but this above? This is profoundly and deeply unfair and honestly gross for a group of people who say they are about defending abuse survivors. So I want to talk about Mary Tudor.

Was her parents only living child - which yes, meant she was very much doted on and loved but I think everyone would agree that a child should be loved yes.

When she is still (and let me emphasise this) AN ACTUAL CHILD her dad is like I am going to get a divorce and marry my mistress and Mary, as again AN ACTUAL CHILD does not want to blame her dad and also sides with her mother

There’s an annulment but as it turns out her father still wants to fight to legitimise her half sibling over her. Of course Mary is hurt. OF COURSE. Of course when Henry brings Bessie Blount to meet Mary, Mary lashes out at Bessie because again she’s a CHILD who is HURTING who has had her world upended without any real warning - as far as Mary had known her parents loved each other, they adored her and were proud of her.

Now yes, Mary did say some not nice things to Bessie but again SHE WAS A SMALL CHILD. I’m sure all of us were clearly perfectly rational clear eyed adults at that age and also have never said things out of anger and hurt EVER.

(Also what she actually said was that Bessie “would only ever be my fathers mistress to me” but that she was sure that “he would tire of you and that I will be restored to my place and my bastard brother to his”)

And then Henry, who was not in his good parenting decisions place decided that Katherine had been poisoning their daughter against him and said that they would not be in contact. And yes, Mary did remain a Princess. Yes, she was lodged in luxury and comfort with people who loved her. Yes even the Emperor thought she was very well treated etc but okay, imagine being Mary’s age and not being able to see or hear from your mother who loved you. Imagine that your father, who had never been remotely angry at you before, was. That is not a small thing.

Neither is ATTEMPTED RAPE. Attempted rape and kidnapping. It was a sexual assault and to diminish the horror of that is to play some kind of bullshit trauma olympics and I refuse to do so.

Now I have written a lot of meta critical of Mary about the homophobia and I stand by it but I also want to say this - She Evolved. She absolutely evolved and more than that she embraced her queer family deeply. This is not a ‘you have to forgive people who have hurt you because they changed’ thing because no you don’t but as far as we know - the most Mary was was just colder to Thomas Cromwell for time. None of her siblings ever talk about Mary being anything other than supportive - yes her diary has some Feelings but again that was her diary that she did not intend for other people to see. She worked through it and I do think that crediting progress matters.

Finally. Okay, look no one knows what was actually said between Thomas Cromwell and Mary Tudor that night after Thomas ‘DIAF’ Seymour happened though I think The Tudors depicted it beautifully (James and Sarah were just incredible) but what little we do know (Mary’s diaries, Pippa’s letters to her spouses and Mihrimah’s writings) says that Thomas Cromwell did in fact volunteer. In The Tudors when Mary asks it’s clear that it’s an ask, not an order - in fact they are very much beyond the stage where Mary could just order him and they both know it.

What happened, in all probability is what happened on screen. That a good and kind person offered solace to a young woman in pain.

Jean has always been a light sleeper. He had to be in order to survive the horrors of Evermore.

So naturally the sobs - as silent as they might have been - woke him up. His eyes opened at once, he sat straight up. Almost automatically he got to his feet and left the room to get to Kevin.

After all, comforting Kevin was like breathing to him.

Jeremy followed Jean, because he would always follow Jean. Jeremy was like a moth and Jean was the light. Wherever he went Jer would follow.

So they went to Kevin‘s room. The striker laid in his bed, curled up, phone in his hand, uncontrollable sobs escaping his mouth.

„I see you took the call this time“, Jean said, surprisingly gentle.

„I wanted to end it. I wanted to have a clear cut. So tell me, why does the cut still bleed?“, Kevin whispered, his voice barely audible.

„Because it‘s a cut that always bleeds“, Jeremy told Kevin as he came closer, carefully and ever so gentle placing his hands on the other boy‘s back.

„He said he wants me to come back to him“, Kevin whispered while holding onto himself as if to try to stop himself from falling apart. „He told me he misses me. That he only gets high when he misses me“

It was quiet in the dark room, shadows were dancing, just as Aaron and Kevin used to dance in the dead of night underneath the night sky.

„You did the right thing Kev“, Jean replied in French while he got into the Bed behind Kevin. Just like they used to do in the Nest.

When Kevin was in his arms he began to hum a French lullaby into his ear.

Jeremy joined them after a second of admiring his beautiful boyfriend and the broken boy in his arms.

„Dude, do you want something? Hot coca? A special Knoxian hug? Us to get Andrew to gut that bastard? Wait, hold on. I forgot. Twin brother. Well, I can gut him for you? Andrew and this is a word by word quote told be once ‚You‘re like a little unicorn in a world full of wolfs with razor sharp teeths, learn to gut the wolfs, stay safe‘, so he taught me how to stab someone? Yeah okay that is not the topic right now, I can still gut Aaron though. I mean Andrew would try to hurt me, but then again I‘m his best friend so he does not have the rights to gut me, right?“, Jeremy offered him a toothy grin, while his hand wandred to his neck rubbing it nervously.

„Can you please not gut him? First of all: Andrew already tried to choke me once when Josten was in danger and I told them where he was, cause apparently yOu DoN‘t KeEp ThOsE tHiNgS tO yOuRsElF yOu FuCkInG mOrOn. I think you do keep those things to yourself if the other option is to get fucking murdered by the mafia??? But what do I know, am I right? After all I‘m just a narcistic, Exy-obsessed asshole without a personality. Bonus I have anxiety, panic attacks, probably depression and I‘m unlovable“, Kevin mumbled into his pillow, the voices of the other foxes, of the other teams inside of his head.

„Did they tell you that?“, Jeremy asked, not quite able to hide the sadness and pain in his voice.

„Doesn‘t eveyone think that?“, Kevin asked. „I mean I think they tend to forget that the woman who gave birth to me, the last woman who geniuely loved me besides maybe Abby, invented the job. I think they tend to forget that the fucking mafia killed her when they found out I‘m not theirs by nature, so the only solution was apparently fucking murder. Then they kidnapped me, brainwashed and tortured me to the point where all I knew was Exy. Oh and maybe they also tend to forget that Ravens were only ever allowed to do Exy, if you were privilegded enough sleep, and do more Exy“

„Kevin you are so much more than that“, Jean whispered into Kevin‘s ear while pressing him against his chest. Just as they used to do in the Nest. „I might be mad at you, because you left me alone with those psychopaths. I used to think you didn‘t care about me. But you were just like me, okay with less scars and less you know. However I cannot say I wouldn‘t have done the same. I understand you now, Kevin. And please, please stop saying those things. And now let us cuddle you and let Jer go through his ridiculous post break-up list. We‘re gonna cuddle you and all you have to do is trying to fall asleep. Used to help me when I was alone at USC. Could only sleep properly when someone held me. Well, Jeremy. Tomorrow we‘ll shove unhealthy food down your throat and watch Downton Abbey or whatever those historcial dramas you love so much are called. While stroking your hand or whatever you‘re into big boy. Afterwards we‘ll take the dogs out and force you to watch the fucking sunset. And I‘ll hold your fucking hand“

Kevin supposed the middle of the night was the time of long lost truths. „Okay“, he mumbled while he moved closer to Jean. Replacing his smell with Jean‘s. It took him a while to fall asleep but he managed.

At the same time Jeremy said „Mi amor, I love you, I really do, but that was literally the most romantic thing you said in the past two years? That is way more romantic than ANY date you ever planned for me? Rude? The audacity?“

„Moi soleil, you don‘t have the ‚cult kidnapped me and tortured me‘ card you can pull, you get the bonus treatmeant of any other people. Besides I literally have matching tattoos with you? I drew you like multiply times? I wrote like a dozen poems and at LEAST one short story? I wrote you a fucking lullaby? You have no right to complain right now, or you‘ll loose your kissing privileges and I give them to Kevin“

„Eww gross“, Kevin mumbled.

„I don‘t remeber you saying that back in the Nest“, Jean replied, poking his cheek.

Kevin didn‘t have the energy to answer. It was a long day. Sleep could have him for the day. Death’s little sister might claim him for the night.

This night he dreamed about Aaron. Strong arms around his waist. Golden eyes locking with smaragd ones. They were on some lonely beach, kissing lazily while the water kissed their feet. It was a beautiful day. Not as beautiful as Aaron, but then again nothing would ever be as beautiful as this specific piece of art. Everything was alright. Everything was good. Why couldn‘t it be the real Aaron and the real Kevin on that beach.

At about noon Kevin woke up to a drooling Jeremy on his stomach and the smell of waffles and soft French swearing in the kitchen. Softly Kevin woke Jeremy up.

„Sorry I always end up on weird angles and drooling on random guys. Jean used to get so mad when I fell asleep in his lap. But you can‘t take him serious when he looks with you with heart eyes trying to be Mad, can you? Anyways we should probably go to him and help him? Oh wait hold on a hot second there. I‘m banned from the kitche, so we can sleep? Right? Right?“

„I hate to break this to you Jer, but it‘s noon. So, no we cannot sleep. You can choose my clothes, though. I know you love going through my stuff and playing dress the doll, Kevin Day edition“, Kevin almost smiled at Jeremy, when he looked up at him pouting.

Then he remembered another blonde boy, pouting at him when he told him no. Another constellation of freckles around another, straight, perfect nose. Sinful lips softly turned up, trying to look mad. Hazel eyes instead of ocean blue ones. Messy blonde curles, instead of soft badly dyed ginger ones. Strong arms instead of lean ones covered in flower tattoos. God, Kevin missed his Aaron.

No, not his. Not anymore

„Okay, but you have to wear to fab outfit I‘ll throw in your face“, Jeremy gave him another easy, toothy grin.

Slowly the other boy got out of bed and went over to the cabet. Slowly Jer went through Kevin‘s cloths. After a while he slowly turned around, holding a jersey that is obviously by far too small for Kevin in front of his face. „What is that? Why do you still have his jersey? Babe, you gotta get rid of that, rather sooner than later“

Jeremy had the weird habit of calling his friends babe, baby, dude or bro. Before Jean he called his boyfriends bro or dude as well, but Jean was so confused by it he quickly stopped doing it.

„First of all: I‘m a weak ass bitch, it smelled of it. And secondly maybe I wanna stab it once I‘m over the phase where I‘m like madly missing him?. I‘d just put it into a pillow, stab at it like a maniac and then set it on fire. I didn‘t grow up with a psychopath as my supposed best friend for nothing Jer“

„Okay? Well I got your clothes. And you‘ll look amazing, cause it‘s the FOX ONSIE I GOT YOU!!! I‘ll wear my onsie as well, and I‘ll force Jean to wear his one as well!! Much fun!! Much wholesome!!“

So that‘s how Kevin Day, queen of Exy, landed sandwiched between his childhood crush and long life crush on their couch, watching Downton Abbey with a plate of waffles on his lap. This was nice. He might had actually enjoyed it, if this wasn‘t his and Aaron‘s show. They used to watch it, cry over it together, make out while watching it.

Thank God didn‘t actually touch him while watching Downton Abbey, he was good at daydreaming. Kevin would just had preteneded that it was Aaron and he thought him breathing Aaron‘s name was the last thing any of them needed today.

After their Downton Abbey marathon they ordered pizza, against Kevin‘s better judgement. Another traditon Kevin shared with Aaron. At finals Aaron would often forget to eat and Kevin was too big of a mess to be bothered to cook so he would end up ordering something every single day and feeding it Aaron while he studied on the floor. Occasionally he would earn a soft kiss, growing hungrier when the night grew darker. God Kevin missed the soft lips on his own.

Kevin would have enjoyed the beach, wouldn‘t he be dressed in a fox onsie, holding hands with a 6“5 guy who looked like he both could and would kill you in a unicorn onsie holding two tiny dogs in his other hand and with a 5“4 dude in a matching unicorn onsie with two dogs that were almost bigger than him.

At least this didn‘t remind him on Aaron.

Well, actually. The way the ocean softly kissed the sand, reminded him of his dream. And of the endless trips to the beach, sleeping in the car, Aaron on top of him. Lazy kisses and warm hugs. It was the first place Aaron took Kevin after their rehab. It was the first night they spent together, as sober men. Well, not sober per se. But drunk and high on each others love. It might had been the most painful memory of the day. God he missed those strong arms around his waist.

Nontheless the pain got less, he felt almost numb. Kevin liked feeling numb. Nothing hurt when you feel numb.

The sunset was beautiful. It reminded him of golden hairs, freckles standing against golden skin, soft lips at his ears, his neck, the corner of his lips.

„Aaron you‘re supposed to look at the sunset, you shithead“, Kevin used to smile down at him. „But I‘m already looking at the most beautfiul thing this world has to offer“, Aaron replied smoothly, locking eyes with Kevin.

When the moon took the place of his long lost lover they decided to go back.

It was safe to say that no one dared to think that someone would wait for them there. Especially not the one person they tried to avoid by all means the entire day.

„You said to stop calling. Never mentioned face to face conversations“, a husky voice said. And Kevin‘s world stopped.

I would like to address some posts I saw that talk about misogynistic double standards when it comes to Jon and Sansa regarding bullying - that Sansa gets criticized and taken to task for bullying Arya but Jon gets a pass for bullying fellow recruits at the Night’s Watch.

First of all, who is giving Jon a pass for bullying Grenn and the others? Are there like 5 page essays out there writing about POV traps and how Grenn was unfairly jealous of Jon and hence deserving of being bullied, how it’s just new recruits being new recruits and Jon did nothing wrong etc.?

Jon’s my favorite character, and I will outright state it - Jon bullied the other recruits at the NW because he was a privileged brat. He was wrong to do it. The text pretty much calls him a bully and unlike some stans, no one is twisting those words to argue otherwise.

And I have never seen anyone defend Jon’s actions there. In fact I have seen these same Sansa stans use Jon’s actions at the Wall to justify Catelyn’s emotional abuse of a child. That even though Jon is a bastard, he was better off than other NW recruits and hence should shut up and stop whining about Catelyn. That his treatment by Catelyn was okay because he had it better than most others in Westeros.

Jon’s actions at the wall are just not mentioned often because it’s accepted that he did wrong. The reason why Sansa’s bullying is often brought up is because Sansa stans write essays about how Sansa never bullied or mocked Arya, how it was just sibling being siblings, how it was because Arya was jealous and hated Sansa, how Arya’s wrong and biased POV is meant to trick readers into hating Sansa when Sansa never actually did anything wrong etc. So it’s book readers responding to this whitewashing of Sansa - because one can read the very real effects this bullying had on Arya’s self esteem and self worth.

In fact the only time Jon’s actions are brought up are when Sansa stans bring it up as whataboutism, to point fingers and accuse others of misogyny - even though no one is actually defending Jon Snow.

And you know what? Yeah, Jon was a bully. But he acknowledges that he did wrong, learned and grew from his mistakes. And I love that about Jon.

“No. They hate you because you act like you’re better than they are. They look at you and see a castle-bred bastard who thinks he’s a lordling.” The armorer leaned close. “You’re no lordling. Remember that. You’re a Snow, not a Stark. You’re a bastard and a bully.”

Donal Noye leaned forward, into Jon’s face. “Now think on this, boy. None of these others have ever had a master-at-arms until Ser Alliser. Their fathers were farmers and wagonmen and poachers, smiths and miners and oars on a trading galley. What they know of fighting they learned between decks, in the alleys of Oldtown and Lannisport, in wayside brothels and taverns on the kingsroad. They may have clacked a few sticks together before they came here, but I promise you, not one in twenty was ever rich enough to own a real sword.” His look was grim. “So how do you like the taste of your victories now, Lord Snow?”

“Don’t call me that!” Jon said sharply, but the force had gone out of his anger. Suddenly he felt ashamed and guilty. “I never... I didn’t think...” - Jon, AGoT

Jon noticed Grenn a few feet away. A thick woolen bandage was wrapped around one hand. He looked anxious and uncomfortable, not menacing at al . Jon went to him. Grenn edged backward and put up his hands. “Stay away from me now, you bastard.” Jon smiled at him. “I’m sorry about your wrist. Robb used the same move on me once, only with a wooden blade. It hurt like seven hells, but yours must be worse. Look, if you want, I can show you how to defend that.” - Jon, AGoT

Dareon gave him a look. “The stewards are fine for the likes of you and me, Sam, but not for Lord Snow.”

I never asked for this,” he said stubbornly.

“None of us are here for asking,” Sam reminded him.

And suddenly Jon Snow was ashamed.

Craven or not, Samwell Tarly had found the courage to accept his fate like a man. On the Wall, a man gets only what he earns, Benjen Stark had said the last night Jon had seen him alive. You’re no ranger, Jon, only a green boy with the smell of summer still on you. He’d heard it said that bastards grow up faster than other children; on the Wall, you grew up or you died. Jon let out a deep sigh. “You have the right of it. I was acting the boy... - Jon, AGoT

Jon Snow being hurt by words calling his mother a whore and later making Satin Flowers,a prostitute, his steward despite opposition.

“Words won’t make your mother a whore. She was what she was, and nothing Toad says can change that. You know, we have men on the Wall whose mothers were whores.” Not my mother, Jon thought stubbornly. He knew nothing of his mother; Eddard Stark would not talk of her. Yet he dreamed of her at times, so often that he could almost see her face. In his dreams, she was beautiful, and highborn, and her eyes were kind. - Jon, AGoT

Jon is constantly getting his worldviews and his privilege challenged at the wall. He is confronted by some ugly truths about himself and he then takes that advice and changes for the better. It’s the same when he goes among the Wildlings and recognizes that they too are human beings deserving of being on the other side of the wall. We get this gem from him:

“We look up at the same stars and see such different things.”- Jon, ASoS

That’s the difference between how Jon and Sansa are treated in book one. When Jon acts bratty and selfish, other characters call him out on his actions, he acknowledges this, apologizes and makes up for it.

With Sansa, on the other hand, we don’t really see anyone taking her to task over her behavior. Quite the opposite. Catelyn and the Septa only encourage it. Ned ‘both sides’ the issue, often talking to Arya about how she should get along with Sansa and behave like sisters. We never see him giving those same talks to Sansa.

Which is weird because most parents would talk to their elder kids to bring about peace in sibling disputes. But in this case, Ned keeps reasoning with his younger daughter instead of his elder one. Probably because everyone thinks that Sansa is the good girl and Arya is the problematic, unruly one.

And because she is never reprimanded over her behavior, Sansa continues to be a spoiled and selfish brat right till Ned is executed at the end of the first book.

Sansa does become more empathetic in the later books after she becomes sadistic Joffrey’s political prisoner and she tries to help where she can. But while GRRM said this about her:

Sansa was the least sympathetic of the Starks in the first book; she has become more sympathetic, partly because she comes to accept responsibility for her part in her father's death.

I don’t think I have actually read Sansa showing true remorse or regret for tattling Ned’s plans to Cersei. Or even feeling bad about how she treated Arya. As late as ASoS she thinks of her dead sister as being unsatisfactory compared to beautiful, graceful Margaery Tyrell. In the Vale, she pretends to be a bastard and yet never once recalls the bastard brother she looked down on.

There is a lot of self pity in Sansa’s POV chapters and she reprimands herself for being naive and stupid. But she never acknowledges the way she treated Arya, the Trident incident and Mycah, betraying her family etc. She does reflect at one point on how she wrongly trusted the Lannisters and she would never do that again.

Other than that there is very little introspection in Sansa’s POV chapters. Jon feels guilt, Arya feels guilt, Dany feels guilt, even Catelyn feels a twinge of regret and guilt about her treatment of Jon after meeting Mya Stone. But this is something I find lacking in Sansa’s POV chapters.

But when readers point this out, we are labelled misogynistic haters who just hate Sansa and want her to suffer, and how Sansa has nothing to apologize for, she did nothing wrong, she’s flawless and blameless of everything.

I am hoping we get acknowledgement, regret and apologies from Sansa when the older, wiser sisters meet again and resolve their issues. There is nothing wrong in apologizing for bad behavior. Everyone does it. It does not make one a super villain. It would go a long way towards humanizing Sansa and making her more likeable, in my opinion.

So anyways this turned into an essay, but yes, Jon Snow was a bully in AGoT when he went to the wall and beat up some new recruits. There is no defense of that behavior and I am glad that Donal Noye gave him a good talking to and set him straight about his privilege.

I just finished reading Hamlet, and I wanted to give a rundown of all the major characters.

Or Arashi just wants to write headcanons and make fun of characters from a 500 year old play because there are so many memeable things about this play that no one talks about because it’s written in Ye Olde Proper English.

Starting off with Hamlet: Basically if a theater kid and the Emo dude fused together. There is no way this dude is even remotely straight: definition of disaster bi. Screams into the void because no one will ever listen to him, except for his totally platonic, absolutely not gay at all hetero-life-partner Horacio. Said “god gave me depression ‘cause he knew I’d beat him in hand-to-hand combat at age 16 if he didn’t”, and I Stan him for it. When he does love someone, it’s with his whole heart. Never forgets a grudge, feels betrayed very easily. Conflicted 90% of the time, Stabby-stabby impulsive the other 10%. Finds one (1) person to latch on to and gets angry at everyone else. Dude just shoot your uncle already he’s so obviously a murderer it’s not even funny anymore. Would sell everyone (but Horacio) to satan for one corn chip. Can actually be pretty smart sometimes. Get this boy some therapy, hot chocolate, and Horacio stat.

Claudius: Nasty rat bastard man. Read Machiavelli’s The Prince one time and decided “ahh, yes, I will do everything in this book”. Might’ve actually been a decent king if not for the whole fratricide/selfish asshole thing. Killed his brother and immediately decided to marry his wife, which, as much as I think Claudius sucks, I must admit is one hell of a power move. Literally forgot how to pray right as Hamlet was about to finally kill him. Doesn’t care about how his actions affect other people, only cares if his actions do something for his reputation. Heard that his chief advisor was killed and his immediate response was “how do I deal with this without ruining my rep”?

Ophelia: Did not deserve ANY of this bullshit. The only character besides Horacio with a moral compass that isn’t a roulette wheel. Speaking of which, she and Horacio would ABSOLUTELY bond over their theatrical emo disaster bi while sipping wine and watching Claudius freak out. Should have lived and I will be forever salty that we didn’t get any Horacio/Ophelia interactions. Please, just let her be happy. Is manipulated by her abusive dad, but still loses it when Hamlet takes away his living privileges. Totally knew about Claudius’s guilt near the end, I will go down with that headcanon. The story would’ve been way shorter if the ghost had appeared to her instead and we all know it.

Polonius: God I hate this man. Like, not even in a “Disney villain” way where they’re so flamboyant and funny that we kinda like them a little- like no, I absolutely despise Polonius with every fiber of my being. Hamlet took every opportunity to insult him to his face and this is one thing where I absolutely would’ve done the same. Emotionally/mentally abusive to both his kids, but especially Ophelia. Did not deserve to be a father at all. Reminds me of Darkstripe from Warrior Cats: a suck-up, a liar, keep away from children. My favorite scene with him is when Hamlet stabs him from behind the curtain.

Laertes: If a jock and a theater kid fused. Works with Claudius toward the end to get revenge on Hamlet for killing his abusive dad. Laertes is what would happen if Hamlet was straight and a jock. Very angry, unless Ophelia is in the room. Decided to start a coup the second he heard that Claudius killed his father, and would’ve done Hamlet’s job for him if Claudius hadn’t been a snitch. If Laertes and Hamlet switched places, this play would be like 90% shorter.

Horacio: Lowkey super gay for Hamlet. The only person who is even remotely sane, has to put up with everyone else’s bullshit. The final girl. That scene where Hamlet dies in his arms? Peak tragic gay and I love it. Would’ve been friends with Ophelia if Shakespeare hadn’t been a COWARD. If the line “I try to stay a little optimistic, even though I will admit, things are getting pretty sticky” was a person. Let him live with his boyfriend please.

(1/3) It always amuses me how stans try to justify JC actions by his abusive upbringing while there were 3 children in that family and both others turned very kind and/or very moral and not at all like JC (and frankly, he didn't even have the hardest position in the dysfunctional dynamic). Or LXC and LWJ whose upbringing was even more screwed up with a LQ who was certainly playing favorites and wanting perfection, and yet this never draw a wedge between them or created any jealousy.

Same with "but JC had it so hard rebuilding Lotus Pier, WWX was goofing off with the Wens"...JC was paying people to do that for him, yes, while WWX was trying to start from scratch a settlement over a mountain of corpses with a bunch of weak or old people and not to die of hunger comes winter. While separated from all his friends and hated as a monster by the cultivation world. "But JC was so lonely during the 13/16y, so that justifies him lashing out" And WWX

(3/3) was dead, killed by his brother and thinking that there was not a person left on his side in the end, and yet, that didn't make him act like a dick? Or athg else really, because everything that JC went through in the past, WWX did also, but in a worse way because he lost his parents young, lived in the streets, didn't have JC societal privilege or money and has to harness an unstable necromancy practice on top of that. And yet no one uses it as arguments to explain his actions, only for JC

Honestly? While none of the Jiang kids were in a good position, out of the three of them... JC did have it the easiest. It was still awful for him, don’t get me wrong, I’m not suggesting his childhood didn’t suck, but given it was made very clear to JYL that her only purpose was to be married off to JZX so her mother could tie her bloodline to her best friend’s and WWX was treated like a servant at best... Yeah. If I had to pick, I’d choose having a distant father and dealing with a mother who’s constantly emotionally abusive over having a distant father and dealing with a mother who’s constantly emotionally abusive and being treated like a bargaining chip/treated like a servant and/or bastard and being whipped for actions that would get the rest of the clan a lecture at worst. Again, I’m not saying JC didn’t have it bad, but his siblings having it worse is... interesting, given neither of them decided to be dicks to Literally Everyone over it.

I do have to say, even though this is about JC, there’s nothing suggesting LQR was playing favourites with LXC and LWJ. He was strict, yes, probably stricter than he should’ve been, and LXC probably did get more one-on-one interaction with him, but given LXC was going to be sect leader/became sect leader at a young age that makes sense. This is not super important to the point of this post, but I do find it odd how often people make LQR out to be this horrible person who’s always awful to his nephews because he’s Strict when we... don’t actually know anything about how he raised them. I don’t like him all that much, and he probably didn’t do a fantastic job of raising them, but the man did try, and he clearly wants his nephews to be safe and happy (even though he has inaccurate views of what that entails...), and given how the parents/parental figures of the cast generally act he deserves some credit for that. Also the Twin Jades ended up considerably better-adjusted than most of their age group, which... isn’t saying much all things considered but it does say something. If nothing else neither of them seem to feel actively unsafe around him, so he’s definitely not the worst parental figure in this novel.

...I had a surprising number of thoughts on LQR there. Whoops, sorry about the tangent. Maybe I’ll make a post about him at some point. Anyway, yeah, LXC and LWJ clearly adore each other! LXC would be delighted if LWJ surpassed him at something! Same with Nie bros; they argue a lot, but there’s no denying that they love each other. That’s what insults and threats out of love look like; NMJ threatens NHS all the time, but NHS clearly isn’t all that bothered by it until JGY starts fucking with NMJ’s mind and the threats become more serious, which really isn’t NMJ’s fault. It’s because in the other sibling relationships both parties are invested in staying close. They love each other and want to be close for the rest of their lives! Meanwhile JC is obsessed with WWX outperforming him at Literally Everything, and WWX genuinely believes that JC is allowed to treat him the way he does and it’s fine and healthy.

And yeah, JC wasn’t exactly rebuilding Lotus Pier all by his lonesome with his own two hands. In fact, going by what we see all the rebuilding was done well before WWX left! And I don’t doubt for a second that WWX was involved in that process; I have very mixed feelings about the scene in CQL where he blows off his duties to go and get drunk, because on the one hand it does do a good job of showing just how bad his mental state is getting (and how JC refuses to acknowledge it despite WWX obviously being Not Okay), but on the other hand... I just can’t see WWX not throwing himself into helping JC with everything he’s got even while his mental state is coming crashing down around him. I mean, this is the guy who created an incredibly powerful weapon that even he couldn’t fully control, not knowing what using it would do to him, to help his brother win a war. I’m pretty much certain that WWX ran himself into the ground helping JC rebuild and run the sect... then when he found himself in charge of a small group of desperate people, scrambling to keep them fed and clothed and healthy, JC just abandoned him to deal with it on his own.

And the whole “Oh, but JC was so lonely, don’t you feel bad for him?” shtick. I hate it so much. If he didn’t want to be lonely, he should’ve considered that before alienating everyone in his age group and leading an army to murder his brother, the only person left who was willing to put up with him! It’s... really hard to feel bad for someone who’s brought most of their suffering on themselves through a series of generally shitty and frequently downright cruel actions with easily foreseeable consequences. If he got sick of being alone, he should’ve apologized to his peers for being a dick to... literally all of them and tried to make amends and strike up some sort of relationship. Or, if that didn’t work, go out! Meet new people! Try not to be as awful to them! Also, he’s a sect leader. If he couldn’t even maintain a positive relationship with other sect leaders, people who, let me remind you, he has to work with on a regular basis and several of whom are actually nice and friendly people, that is on him. If you are awful to people you will end up alone. And then JC decided to respond to learning that the people he was a dick to every time he saw them (and, in LWJ and NHS’s cases, caused the death of someone they cared about) wanted nothing to do with him... by whining about how lonely he was as if that wasn’t largely his fault. Like, he lost his family and that’s awful, but he could have had friends to help him through his grief, and it’s his own damn fault that he doesn’t.

WWX’s life was miserable. He had plenty of friends, yeah, but he spent years on the streets after his parents died brutal deaths; was raised in a family where he was treated like a servant and a scapegoat; lost everything in an event he was blamed for despite having nothing to do with the attack; had to sacrifice his incredibly powerful golden core (thereby losing his primary means of defending himself while on the run and drastically shortening his lifespan) to keep his brother from letting himself die; was thrown into a corpse pit for three months where he had to create an entirely new and experimental (and as such incredibly dangerous) form of cultivation and probably resort to cannibalism just to survive; had to fight a war almost immediately after escaping; spent a... good portion of time (not sure how long exactly because the MDZS timeline is more a suggestion than an actual coherent timeline) being treated alternately as a tame pet or a rabid animal and having to pretend everything was just fine while everyone tried to either control him or remove him and his brother very obviously got increasingly resentful of his skill and power; had to abandon his home, his family, and everything he had left of his old life to save a bunch of innocent people while everyone, including his brother, acted like he’d gone mad for not wanting to let them die horribly; had to go back to the corpse pit he spent three months in because it was the only place where they might be safe; accidentally killed his brother-in-law due to losing control after being ambushed on the way to a celebration for his nephew that he was invited to by people he trusted, almost certainly making him wonder on at least some level if that was why he was invited; lost two members of his new family who he clearly loved because of said accidental murdering; learned their deaths were for nothing and, when he retaliated against the planned attack that shouldn’t have happened because that’s what WQ and WN gave their lives to prevent, saw his beloved sister die to save him; and, after all that, lost the rest of his new family to a siege on a civilian population led by his brother. And after all that, his response was... to destroy the incredibly dangerous weapon he’d made because he didn’t trust the sects to not destroy each other and themselves with it and kill himself rather than risk losing control again and hurting anyone else. In the novel too; I don’t doubt for a second that WWX planned on dying in that siege, even if he didn’t expect destroying the seal to do it.

Take a look at that paragraph. All those things that happened to WWX. And in the end, he was kind. He was so, so kind, and remains kind even after thirteen years of being dead. He would have been well within his rights to go all “Then let me be evil” on the sects, but every time he attacked them they struck first, and most of the serious damage he did happened as a direct result of losing control of his experimental and mostly unknown new cultivation, which is a real risk even with spiritual cultivation; NMJ probably would have happily killed everyone in Qinghe if the qi deviation hadn’t gotten to him first, given how easy it was for him to attack even his beloved little brother. Everything bad that happened to JC is on that list, pretty much. Everything that JC suffered WWX did too, with some variations in the details (and of course dead versus alone for the same period of time). JC had the advantage of a sect at his back and a high rank by virtue of his birth, while WWX’s position was entirely reliant on JFM and, later, JC. And yet some people insist that WWX’s trauma doesn’t excuse his actions but JC’s somehow does. Now, some people argue it’s different because WWX was a mass murderer. Yeah, well, JC’s a fucking serial killer, and he doesn’t have the excuse of losing control due to using resentful energy to cultivate and being attacked by everyone he’d ever known and trusted.

...I’ve kind of lost track of where I’m going with this. Short version: I very strongly disagree with anyone who insists WWX’s trauma doesn’t excuse his actions while bending over backwards to argue that JC’s trauma excuses his.

Reaction to Ghost of The Shadow Market by Cassandra Clare

At first, I wasn’t too excited to read Ghosts of the Shadow Market, which is why it took me so long to read it. I just couldn’t bring myself to read it. But I was surprised, although not all the stories marked my attention the majority of them did. No going to lie Cecil Montclaire I was not excited to read about, but I stan now.

Cast Long Shadow:

● I had liked Matthew from the first time we meet him in Nothing but Shadows and I had heard the rumour that he was Gideon’s bastard, which in my mind the only way that happened is if both Henry and Charlotte knew they wouldn’t be able to have more children and were willing to try other ways. I did not, however, envision that he would go that far to have answers.

● I loooooooooove Jem.

o I was so happy to see him being protective of his friends’ children.

● Matthew, unlike our other heroes, is extremely naïve when it comes to the hate downworlders have towards Nephilim or at least that is the impression I got. Especially for the time, he lives in, which is still only about a decade after the Accords are put in place. It kills me though to have seen his innocence killed the way it was, trusting the wrong faerie.

o Also, that old fairy can take her potion and drink it. I did not, however, realize how important she was. Which is what I love in the end about this book, how the plot in every story is linked.

Every Exquisite Thing:

● This was definitely the hardest one for me to read, maybe because the character of Anna that we were being given was so different from what we knew about her. She had none of the confidence and swagger we had heard or seen before.

● However, I loved Cecily and Gabriel in this one, maybe more than I ever had. Mostly because we get to see them as adults and how supportive they are of their children: Christopher likes to blow stuff up? let’s help him, as long as it’s not our house he blows up; our daughter is a lesbian who wants to look good in pants Gabriel and Cecily argue over what colour of pants would look better on her.

o Although I liked Ariadne, and can understand her point of view, I am happy that Anna refuses to hide who she is and simply marry a man that will try and understand her.

● I can’t help but wonder however what happened to these Lightwoods, rebellious and accepting to turn them into Robert Lightwood and his parents.

● Now about the bigger plot, it did intrigue me that we at this point know more than Jem about what he is looking for, but still know very little in actuality. We don’t know much about Kit’s mother or his ancestor.

● Overall, this one had very little to do with the First Heir storyline and we instead find Jem chasing Tessa’s mysterious father, which probably means said demonic father will be important to the Last Hour storyline. But this is just a guess.

Learn about Loss:

● I think the title has a bit to do with the fact we find out about the lost Herondale and the first Heir that were, at that time using, the last name Loss.

o Might also have to do with Jem coming to terms with Will’s imminent death.

● Looooooved Sister Emilia and I hope we see her again, maybe her meeting Jem with Tessa and little Mia and Kit. But I just want to see how badass she became.

● I hate that Will is close to death and Jem can’t be with him like he wants, although I knew he would eventually die, I am firmly staying in denial.

● That last scene of them together was beautiful though.

● Overall, this is when we are really introduced to The First Heir plot before Jem was chasing for Tessa’s father, but now he starts looking for the lost Herondales. This one and Deeper love is kind of an ending the the ID and LH Crew.

A Deeper Love

● Jem and Tessa!!!!!! Together!!!!!

o But also mourning Will which makes me sad.

● This story is maybe a couple of years after Will’s death, Tessa is trying to move on, but can’t stay in London and watch the rest of her family die, so she enlists.

● Tessa and Catarina getting to have a friendship and help people at the same time is awesome.

● Jem is reckless and gets hurt, but then we get to see him and Tessa, so it is worth it.

● Jem knowing, he can’t be with Tessa right now is heartbreaking, but true.

● Jem and Tessa find out the story about the Lost Herondales from Catarina.

● Overall, I am going, to be honest, this one I did not really like, maybe because it is just after Will’s death, I don’t really know why. But it is kind of a transition from Will and Tessa as a couple to Jem and Tessa.

The Wicked Ones:

● First Off, this is the first one where we read about Jem not understanding feelings or remembering them and it gutted me.

● Meeting Céline was beautiful. I had never had a good opinion of her before and finally getting inside her head was worth it. I apologize for never giving her a second thought before, she is such a strong and sad person who deserved the world, who deserved finding someone who would have loved her, and I saw some of Jace in her. Their absolute love and bad sense of morals, their weakness for a place to belong and their empathy towards downwolders.

o Good riddance with her parents.

● The way Valentine manipulated her and used her is sickening. Far more than with any of the others.

● Stephen Herondale how are you a descendant of Will and James??????!!??!?!?!?!?

● Meeting Rosemary was… enlightening. She loved fiercely, her distrust of shadowhunters is understandable.

o She is definitely not someone I would want to cross.

● Overall, I loved this one, more than the ones before. Meeting Céline and Rosemary, two women willing to do evil for their love is a beautiful parallel. Two strong women who were almost saved, but eventually chose love over anything. It is even more heartbreaking by Jem trying to remember the feeling because he had it once.

Son of the Dawn:

● This is really the story where we only see Brother Zachariah at the beginning, until the institute where we finally see Jem surface. We really get to see how being a silent brother is killing Jem.

● Raphael and Lily are awesome and deserved better.

o I didn’t realize how much I miss Raphael and him refusing to admit to having friendships.

o I wish I had Lily Chen’s ability to come up with nicknames, which is a superpower.

● Yin fen…. How is that shit still around??? Why hasn’t someone destroyed it???? You have to have no morals to sell that shit.

● Baby Lightwoods!!!!!!!!!

o The fact 12-year-old Alec had a crush on Raphael is awesome.

o Baby Max is adorable and so beautiful

o Little Isabelle is as fierce as her older self.

o Tiny Jace deciding on his parabatai the moment he saw him makes me happy.

● I love the fact that Jace was able to remind Jem of Will and Tessa, bring him back from the emotionless state of the Silent Brothers.

● Suddenly my dislike of Robert and Maryse returned. The way they spoke to Raphael is disgusting.

● Overall the story is not that important to the plot of the First Heir and Kit, but it does give us an insight into Jem having to fight to remain human and remember why he became a Silent Brother, to in the end be saved. We also get to see the old crew (minus Simon, Clary, and Magnus) as they were still innocent children.

The Land I Lost:

● I loved this story, mostly because we get the Lightwood-Banes, and Alec being the badass he is.

● Lily Chen is a hilarious and beautiful person and I sooooo wish we had seen more of her during the Mortal Instruments and can’t wait to see more of her in Wicked Power and The Eldest Curse.

o Alec and Lily’s friendship is wholesome and deserves more pages honestly.

o Alec understanding, he has privileges and using it was awesome.

o The fact that Lily totally knew Alec once has a crush on Raphael.

o I think that almost every downwolder has one Nephilim that makes them see Shadowhunters in a different light. For Magnus there was Will, Tessa had the London Institute, Kieran had Cristina, Gwyn had Diana, and Lily has Alec (and kind of Cordelia Carstairs).

● Feral Rafael!!!!!!!

● The fact Alec did not realize he had adopted Rafael warms my heart

● Max being soooooo happy to have a sibling filled my heart.

● Magnus having his moment with Rafael where he just knew, the same way Alec did with Max.

o I do like the parallel with both.

● We finally learn about the old Faerie that gave Matthew the potion that hurts his mother and let me tell you: she can cram her Herondale-anger down her throat and choke on it.

● Jem and Tessa!!!!!! Finally, happy!!!!!!

● Juliette is a queen and not just of the Shadow Market.

● I really love how the storylines and the books are converging more and more. With Juliette and her daughter from the Eldest Curse, Mother Hawthorn and Kit’s storyline.

● Overall, I loved this story not only because we had Alec and Jem with Tessa, but mostly because we get to really see Alec as the man that would move heaven and hell to make the world a better place for his family.

Through Blood, Through Fire:

● This one was not that interesting other than for the details we got about Rosemary since it centers on a story that we already know the ending too. We simply get the final details of Kit’s background.

● As a character I loved Rosemary, someone who would do anything to be free and at the same time would lock herself up for her son. If only Johnny/Jack could have loved his son as much.

● Getting Rosemary’s backstory does let us understand her distrust of shadowhunters and how much she loved Johnny/Jack.

● Overall, we finally get the last bits of detail of the First Heir storyline.

The Lost World:

● Baby Mia.

o I really just want to talk about baby Mia, but other than her almost getting possessed, she is not really the focus of this novel.

● Livy, I fear will become a problem in the future, I feel like she might lose control at some important moment, but that just might be me being negative.

● I really want to know what the Dimmet Tarn is and what it can do.

o I can’t help but think it’s some kind of passage to the afterlife and that’s why Livy is going towards it.

● I already love Irene and can’t wait to see more of her in the future. The fact that she can feel ghosts and other creatures will be useful.

● Poor Ty, I feel like he is trying really hard to punish himself and he can’t understand the emotions he is feeling, so he is just assuming he did something wrong.

● Idris News: I honestly thought that locking themselves up in Idris was the stupidest thing the Cohort had ever done. They can’t hunt demons; they can’t get imports of food and they are totally cut off from the world. How exactly are they going to survive??? The fact they actually have a plan and want to wreak havoc makes sense, but I feel like they are still outnumbered and outgunned.

● Good to see Magnus being the most adult adult.

● Overall, I liked this one, didn’t love it, but it was nice to see the characters. I feel like some points here will be important in Wicked Powers, like the Idris’ News and Dimmet Tarn. Also, Mia.

Forever Fallen:

● Probably the one I was the most excited about reading other than the Land I Lost.

● I love the idea of Thule and the characters having to be brought into the canon universe to fight Janus.

o I can’t wait to see Thule Simon. I mean this is a Simon who has pretty much lost everything and is trying to kill someone who could have once been his friend.

● The fact we got to see a day in the park for the Lightwood-Banes was probably my favourite part.

● I got scared when Max was talking to Janus.

● I feel like Lily Chen and her deal with Janus is going to end horribly, I want to think she is smarter than that, she was taught by Raphael after all, but love makes idiots of us all. So, there might be a plan there, but I am not sure.

● The way Janus thinks reminded me of when the group was shown their deepest desires but twisted when they went to Eden. He lost everything and more than anything wants to protect those he considers family but isn't capable of understanding emotions anymore or morals.

● The Carstairs-Gray household is wholesome and loving and I adore them.

o The fact Kit finally has parents that love and support him.

o I love how much Jem and Tessa consider Kit their son.

o Mia and Kit!!!!!!!!!!!!

● However, I do feel like the ending was ominous towards the fact the Kit will eventually have to become or do something because of being the descendant of the first heir. They said he wasn’t an heir technically, but he did throw the Riders across a field in QOAAD, therefore I think he has more power then they imagine but it's locked inside of him.

● Overall, I loved it, it leaves us wanting more of the MI and AD crew, for which we will have to wait and foreshadow that the First Heir storyline will be important to Wicked Powers. I love the way it ties the plot of the entire book, which was finding and protecting the First Heir into Jem and Tessa finally getting their happy ending with their two beautiful children.

Overall:

I love pretty much anything Cassandra Clare writes especially in the Shadowhunter world. I would recommend this book, mostly because it ties into the storyline we will be reading in Wicked Powers and gives us an insight into Matthew and Anna, as well as the fact that Tessa’s demonic father will be important.

It is a nice between while we read The Last Hour series and wait for the Wicked Powers.

In cases like this series you pretty much have to read all the books, because sometimes there are small details that are important to the whole storyline in every book and novel, however, individually I would recommend:

● The Wicked Ones:

● The Land I Lost

● Forever Fallen.

Hey, sorry if this question is bothering you, but can you explain why you don't like Sansa and what makes you have this opinion on her? Hope I'm not sounding like I'm attacking you and I get why you'd choose to ignore this question, but I am curious to know your opinion. Have a nice day and sorry again if I bothered you with this question.

Hey. At first I wanted to just ignore the question, because I tend to keep some of my opinions far from this blog. Then I wanted to suggest you to check my main blog, @marta-elentari , but my main blog is *dark and full of dumb shitposts*, and you asked me too nicely.

So I decided to answer here, since, after all, Tumblr is meant to be a safe space for every opinion who isn't harmful or offensive to other people. So I'll try to articulate my own personal opinion as objective and civil as I could.

So, regarding Sansa, I would lie if I would tell that the fandom didn't have a say in my perception to her, but truth to be told, I read the books long before I started to interact with the fandom and I can't say that my opinions changed as radically as I thought.

I was totally unimpressed with Sansa since her first chapter and she didn't grow on me for various reasons:

I have never been a tomboyish girl myself, I like most of the things girls like Sansa likes such as clothes and boys but I really dislike talking about these things all day long as if these are the most important thing in my life. Even in ASOS, after all she's been through, when LF builds her new identify as Alayne Stone, she still asks him if her father can be a valiant knight who died in God knows what war, and I was like ?????? After how those very knights beated her repeatedly because Joffrey told them so, she still dreams of valiant knights, and this random thought came to me more than shallow, given that, by that time, Sansa had beem through some stuff. Also, this is a personal preference, but when I want to read fantasy, I want to read about girls who, yes, kick asses and discover magic and build kingdoms or even normal, ordinary and human girls that achieve this sort of epic-fantasy greatness such as Eowyn or a sort of epic-fantasy greatness that don't involve swords, because this is possible too; I don't want to read about the same damsel in distress that I found so often in the non-fiction romance books. Neither I am saying that Sansa is a damsel, just that I percieve her as such.

I personally acknowledge her strength, I kbow I would have never been able to live with the people who killed my father, I admit she is observant and receptive; but, in the same time, I was always under the impression that she survived mostly because she was a valuable hostage. If she wasn't, she most likely would have faced the same fate as poor Jeyne Poole. But she survived in KL with her own weapons, namely the "courtesy" that she wears like an armour. Does it make me like her more? No. Not because I am a dumb mysoginist and despise everything feminine and I consider "strong female character" a woman who acts like a man and kicks asses, but because she is not the type of female character that I would root for. These were my opinion before I interacted with her fandom.

And then, her fandom happened. I am sorry for those few Sansa fans with whom I interacted and who are truly amazing people that really thought me to see things in a new light, but 95% of her stans think and act like this: if you don't like her and criticize this, you are a dumb misogyinist who doesn't understand her character, seemingly unable to understand that just because a female character is a delicate feminine girl, it doesn't mean that she doesn't have to be criticized, when critique has nothing to do with her being a girl and being a feminine girl. Casual readers note how she has a part in Ned's death and bullied Arya. Tell this to a stan and get ready for a hate tsunami, because their Sansa can do no wrong. But she can!!! It's in the books!!!!

To deny that she bullied Arya seems like you deny the mere definition of bullying. And as someone with a brother, this sort of behaviour coming from a sister is something I can't tolerate. When she told Arya that she should have been killed instead of Lady, my jaw dropped, and I wasn't impressed in a good way.

Tell them she doesn't look down at smallfolk, another thing I can't tolerate. Speaking of which, I don't dislike her because she is pretty and comes from a privileged backround. I don't dislike a female character because she is pretty and acknowledged as such. My parents aren't the wealthiest people, But they managed to offer me and my brother what we needed and I never lacked anything. I also consider myself pretty and I was told multiple times that I was pretty. Being pretty doesn't make me and shouldn't make me and anyone dislike a character. But it turns me off when being pretty is the only quality through which you managed to go on. And I always was under the impression that The Hound and LF wouldn't have saved her from shit if they hadn't had a creepy crush on her. Yes, LF uses her from his own interest blah blah blah but if You're telling me that he would have been just as interested in her, if she hadn't been pretty and looked like Catelyn, you're not convincing me. At all. Because it's not true.

And as for Ned, no one says that she is the only one responsible for his death, but to deny her involvement is to deny the canon:

And while she wasn't completely aware of the implications, her intent was pretty clear, and I was just appalled because even if I was 12, if my father told me that we have to go in secrecy and that our lives depend on it and I must keep my mouth shut, I would never betray his trust. I would know he only wanted what's best for me. I would never sell him.

She looks down at smallfolk and bastards.

She only truly thinks of Jon when she herself is forced to pose as a bastard:

Jon raised alongside her, yet she still regards her "only her half brother".

And, on top of that, She is willing to be accomplice to the poisoning of a little boy!!!!!!

And her stans are bullies. Some of them dared to talk shit about Emilia Clarke herself, calling her responsible for convincing them to make J0nerys happen and she was the culprit all along for Jon and show's treatment of Sansa?????? Ok, let's assume that Emilia had some influence over David and Daniel. Wouldn't you think it would have made more sense if she had tried to convince them NOT TO KILL OFF HER CHARACTER?????????? Just saying.

But they are so willing to twist the other characters (mostly Daenerys, but not only), just to prove that Sansa is the only valid and worthy character in this series. They were hoping for Daenerys to MISCARRY HER BABY AND DIE OR GIVE BIRTH TO A (ACTUAL QUOTE) "MALFORMED INCEST-BORN LIZARD BABY" AND DIE OR KILLED BY JON (which happened) but still......is this ok?? Is ok to wish this for a woman? Is miscarriage or a malformed baby and death in childbirth ok as ling as this put your fave in a good light?

Again, I admit that book!Sansa is not dumb or a weakling, as some people used to claim, but she's not my type of character. She has many moments when she is shallow and vain, and straight-up cruel.

But it wasn't just about Daenerys, really. I saw a lot of ugly things these people wrote about Arya just to bring Sansa up. They wanted Bran, a little boy, to die, so that Sansa become Lady of Winterfell.

Other stans cheered for Missandei's death because she DARED TO CRITICIZE SANSA, not giving a fuck that Missandei's death was just the most racist thing D&D ever did?

And then there's *that* part of the fandom, who goes to such lengths that they distort canon and the other characters just to show that Sansa is and has been the main character all along and she is the only one who suffered and she is so young but she deserves everything. Last time I checked, Jon was 15-16, so was Dany, Arya was 10-11, Bran was 8-9. They act, however, like Sansa is the only one who is young and who suffered in this series, a statements which is, in the context of a series like A Song of Ice and Fire, just - and I won't apologize for the word - dumb.

And then there were my own experiences.

A couple of months ago, I posted a fanart with Jon and Dany because I am confident Jonerys will happen in the books and it was forshadowed. This is the fanart, if you are interested:

Three stans DM me; telling me that this pic was ugly....not because it was some form of constructive criticism (which I am always open to), but because I painted Daenerys and not Sansa.

Other artists who did some Jonerys fanarts told how a Stan took her fanarts, changed Dany's hair from blonde to red, to make her Sansa. This is ART THEFT. This is the majority Sansa stans that I had the "pleasure" to interact or know about. With these sort of stans, It's really hard for me to find a reason why I should like a character.

It's long, I know. There are my reasons and hope I answered your questions.

As for the rest of you who'll see this post, I would kindly ask you to notice that this is my opinion. This is what I think and I'm not shading anyone here (apart those stans whom I interacted and were an unpleasant occurrence). Hate messages won't make me change my opinion.

Where was Arya's privilege when she was a slave in Harrenhal? Enforced servitude without payment is slavery. Where was it when she ate worms when there was nothing else? Where was it when she tried to go to her mother but was held hostage by a group of outlaws so they can sell her? Sansa stans like you are the worst people in Gendrya fandom.

I was waiting for this. Not because I agree with you but because I know there are people, in fandom especially, that once they’ve made their mind up about something they can’t see it another way. Everything is *that* thing and there’s no grey area. This isn’t. But go off, I guess.

First and foremost, I’m not a Sansa stan. I like Sansa but it took me awhile to get there. Depending on which book/season I may like Show!Sansa more than I like Book!Sansa or vice versa. Their storylines are so different they’re almost not the same person (sometimes they’re literally not because we got rid of Jeyne completely) but either way I don’t stan either of them. I do however respect them and enjoy their stories as part of the greater narrative. That’s the part that I’m sure you assumed because you clearly have an issue with people who do like Sansa.

I love Arya. I have always loved Arya. I love Show!Arya and I love Book!Arya...who is one of my favorite literary characters ever. I could rant and rave about both Aryas but it doesn’t really matter when it comes to this particular argument.

Moving on. You’re confusing circumstances with privilege. Privilege is something you’re born with while circumstances are what life places you in, usually out of your own control. Gendry and Arya were both in terrible circumstances but Arya has privilege and Gendry does not. Even when Arya was with TNW she still had privilege. It doesn’t go away because you’re put in a bad situation. Similarly, privileged people can be oppressed. Their privilege doesn’t negate their oppression nor does their oppression negate their privilege. Privilege is what enables one of two equally oppressed people to combat their oppression, ie. Arya was aiming to go to Winterfell - the castle she grew up in with her noble family. Gendry didn’t have that choice, hence their argument regarding him joining BWB. Did horrible things happen to Arya? Yes. But she had resources (though difficult to sometimes utilize/obtain) that allowed her to have a future beyond those terrible occurrences.

As it relates to Exhale, which I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you read and are not just going by the very brief post I made last night, Arya is beyond those terrible things. Her conversation was with Sansa, who has also been able to move beyond the terrible things that happened to her. You have two women, though a complete contrast of one another, in the same station with drastically different choices. Arya isn’t a slave anymore. She’s not a servant. She’s not eating dirt or sleeping on the cold ground. Why? Because at the end of the day she’s a Stark and her brother is the King. Her sister is a Queen. Despite all that she’s gone through those things remain the same. Gendry may have helped Jon prove the existence of White Walkers and fought against the Army of the Dead but at the end of the day he is still a bastard. Until he was legitimized none of those things mattered. You can work to overcome oppression but rarely can you obtain privilege in the way Gendry did. Arya overcame her oppression and was still privileged because that never went away. It probably seems like I’m repeating myself but your question tells me you’re misunderstanding the meaning of privilege so it feels necessary...

As Sansa said, Arya is lucky. Not because she had those things happen to her but because she survived those things and still has choices in life. Smallfolk would look at Arya and hate her. If they had a chance to live the life she lived (featherbeds and feasts) they’d take it in a heartbeat. Not only does Arya get those things but she also now has a man that she loves who is of the same class meaning they can be together without complications. That same man will allow her to be herself and they’ll have featherbeds and feasts and she’ll still be able to travel and do what she wants. ARYA HAS CHOICES AND ARYA HAS CHOICES BECAUSE SHE HAS PRIVILEGE.

Does this erase all the things that happened to her? Hell no. Arya is a badass bitch with a big heart and an unreal amount of resilience. I could go on and on about my love for her but in my opinion you can’t truly love a character if you’re not willing to step back and humanize them. All of the best characters have their flaws. Arya is not a robot or an assassin — she’s a woman and she is a survivor.

I hope sending this made you feel better because it made me laugh. People like you that are aggressive on anon instead of coming to me to have a constructive discourse are the worst part of fandoms.

Having an asthmatic twin brother whose main concern in life was to pass his math class was boring, but it was safe and (Y/N) had the privilege of being the most extra of the two – ah good times ! But then of course Scott's asthma became a thing of the past, added to his new found super strength and speed, his popularity went from zero to ten real quick, leaving (Y/N) in the dust, far behind him.

In The Name of Love (Peter Pan x Reader)

"Who are you?" A voice asked behind you, causing your eyes to snap open with a start.

Some things are simply not meant to be. Even when people maximized their chances by doing everything in their power to achieve their goal, it wasn’t always enough. Like in this maddening scene in Titanic where Jack can’t get on the floating door, and after everything he has gone through to be with Rose, he just dies. Well, maybe this was a little bit dramatic, chances are you won’t die in real life, you will just be really, really frustrated because all your efforts are thrown into the trash. But she was drifting from the subject.

Somehow, Mara’s brother had befriended the one guy who was simultaneously the absolute worst and the best thing that has ever happened to her. William and Chris were inseparable friends since- since always. As far as her memory goes, Chris has always been in their lives. He was like family to a certain extent – and that was precisely her problem.

Not that it was a problem for Pan was wide awake, looking as indifferent as usual even though Felix out of all the boys was the one capable of telling when he just pulled that face as a facade. This was one of those moments. “It’s been two days Pan,” Felix stated, clicking his tongue as a mean of punctuation. “I know,” Peter growled, glaring towards the boy as if saying 'tell me something i don’t know’. The blond boy almost expected him to continue but Peter kept quiet. “Where is she?” Felix asked.

Take Me Away (Luke Hemmings x Reader)

Tonight’s sky was dark and starless, and the moon remained hidden behind the invisible clouds hovering above her head. If it wasn’t for the streetlights, she would be swallowed by darkness. Right now, it felt like she could disappear in the night, in a snap. Her pace increased slightly when she began to move her short legs faster, her arms tightly holding herself, as if she was trying not to fall apart, and her arms were the last thing preventing her from bursting out of her skin. Wiping her hair to the side, the girl looked up, still searching for a star – just one – but the sky stayed oddly murky. Now that she was looking up she stopped walking. Her head tilted backwards and her small frame made everything look bigger than it actually was, and trees suddenly seemed to reach the sky. Silence was everywhere and it filled her. Taking a deep breath felt like the best thing to do. If she was sure not to get hit by a car, she would have laid in the middle of the road, just because it seemed to be cool in the movies and she always wanted to do that. Looking over her shoulder, her gaze landed on the empty road, then she listened closely for a couple of seconds, but there still was no sound to be heard except for the faint music in the distance. It shined like the entire town was sleeping. But something made her continue her way, shaking her head as she walked away and forgot about this stupid idea. Maybe it was better like that, she didn’t need to be careless to enjoy herself.
