Honestly I'm already a bit interested in your book despite knowing very little about it! I'm trying to be less on social media (also Tumblr is being annoying lately why is this website cursed) but I hope to be around once you get to talk more about your book<3
I'm also always curious about people's publishing path:)
Agh thank you so much anon!!!
Theoretically come May/June (?) I will have more concrete stuff to share such as a cover (!!!!!) and official pitch/blurb.
But for now what I can say is:
The Good Vampire's Guide to Blood and Boyfriends is a gay vampire romcom about mental health and existential dread. Featuring:
🧛 the trials and tribulations of vampire puberty 🚩 moral + existential crises re: becoming a bloodsucking monster 👭 a secret clan of vampire girlbosses that are potentially murderous ✍️ journals + love letters + social media as narrative devices
Here are my children!!! The main character (Brennan, left) is a depressed bisexual disaster, freshly turned into a vampire and Doing His Best. The love interest (Cole, right) is a cinnamon roll stoner gay who is unfortunately obsessed with Twilight.

(Lovely art by @paladibun)
It's coming out in early 2025 from Macmillan/Wednesday Books. It's for fans of Casey McQuiston, Aiden Thomas, Rainbow Rowell, FT Lukens, and that vibe of humor and heart, quirky casts of characters, and spinning familiar tropes in new ways.
While you can't preorder yet, you can add it on Goodreads!
This is still primarily a fandom account, but once things get closer I will definitely share more information about actually getting to read this book I love so much!!!

Can published authors who have never read fanfic a day in their life NOT offer advice on writing fanfic? They don't know a thing about Plotless Fics or the general NONSENSE fanfics embody.
Like dude, a 12 yr old who's 1st language isn't English is writing better stories than you.

(Also, don't insult someone like this and hold your 'experience" over them just to be a dick. That's how you get reported and blocked)

Hi! I was wondering if Cursebreakers was a standalone novel?
hi! it actually has a sequel coming out in may 2025 called Angel Eye involving an angel of death–style serial killer.
i've written four novels in the Astrum setting so far besides Cursebreakers, but only the sequel is confirmed for publication so far. the other main characters i've written books for are a pair of witchfinders and a grave robber. i'd love to get series out of all of them.

Character Voice Tag
Thank you for the tag @illarian-rambling for the tag in this! I had a lot of fun working out how my characters would say the line.
I was given the line "Where do you come from?"
I'm going to use the characters from my WIP Racing Hearts. I might be a little obsessed with this wip.
Lily: "Where are you from?" I asked, my voice steady and calm, laced with genuine curiosity. My eyes met theirs with an inviting warmth, conveying an openness that I hoped would encourage honesty.
Finn: "So, where are you from?" Finn asked, his striking blue eyes fixed intently on the person. His tone was firm, yet laced with an underlying curiosity, a mix of authority and genuine interest.
Anthony: "What's your background?" Anthony asked, his dark, piercing eyes scrutinizing the person before him. His tone was measured and authoritative, carrying an undercurrent of strategic interest and a hint of challenge.
Sofia: "So, what's your story?" Sofia asked, her sharp green eyes keenly observing the person. Her tone was friendly yet curious, a blend of approachable warmth and the sharp intellect that defined her.
Isabell: "Can you tell me where you're from?" Isabell asked softly, her brown eyes sparkling with genuine curiosity and warmth. Her voice was gentle, inviting a comfortable honesty.
Gabriel: "Where do you come from, darling?" Gabriel asked, his voice deep and steady, carrying an authoritative tone that brooked no nonsense. His piercing brown eyes bore into the person before him, revealing a hint of the determination that lay beneath his sweet exterior.
Micheal: "Hey, so, where you from?" Michael asked with a casual grin, his hazel eyes twinkling with mischief. His tone was light and easy, carrying a sense of curiosity and adventure as he leaned in with an air of relaxed charm.
Mr. Rossi: "Tell me, where do your roots lie?" Mr. Rossi inquired, his voice carrying a weight of experience and power. His piercing brown eyes bore into the individual, leaving no room for evasion as he awaited their response with a calm, yet commanding presence.
Mrs. Rossi: "Where do you come from, dear?" Mrs. Rossi asked with a gentle smile, her warm eyes radiating kindness and understanding. Her voice was soft and soothing, inviting the person to share their story with her as she offered a comforting presence.
Marcus: "Hey, where are you from?" Marcus asked with a warm smile, his eyes shining with genuine curiosity and a desire to connect. His tone was friendly and approachable, eager to engage in conversation and make a connection with the person before him.
Mrs. Seno: "And where is it that you come from?" Mrs. Seno boomed with a hearty laugh, her voice carrying across the room with confidence and a touch of joviality. Her bold presence filled the space, making it clear she was not one to be ignored.
Dr. Seno: "May I inquire, where do you originate?" Dr. Seno asked with a calm, measured tone, his dark eyes fixing on the individual with a gaze that conveyed both intelligence and a hint of curiosity. His demeanor was poised and professional, reflecting his commitment to discretion and integrity in all matters.
Patrick: "Where does your family come from?" Patrick asked, his voice smooth but laced with an underlying threat. His piercing hazel eyes bore into the person, assessing their loyalty with a calculating gaze that left no room for deception.
Dominic: "Tell me, where do you come from?" Dominic asked, his voice smooth and confident, his piercing green eyes studying the person with a calculating gaze. His demeanor exuded a sense of control and authority.
Mr. Lorcan: "Where do your allegiances lie?" Mr. Lorcan inquired, his voice carrying a weight of authority that brooked no argument. His piercing gaze bore into the individual, demanding honesty with a steely intensity that left no room for evasion.
Detective Sarah: "Where do you come from?" Detective Evans asked, her tone firm and direct, her piercing gaze locking onto the individual with unwavering intensity. "Because you're in my city now." Her demeanor exuded authority and determination as she sought to unravel the mysteries surrounding the case at hand.
Jack: "Hey, mind telling me where you're from?" Jack asked with a disarming smile, his green eyes twinkling with mischief. His tone was casual, but there was a hint of cunning behind his easy-going demeanor, as he sought to gather information for his own purposes.
Your line is: "Life's full of surprises, isn't it?"
I'll tag @spellboundheartsaga @aritany @sseniita @amandacanwrite @the-golden-comet

This si just an example but characterbuilding, you WILL need your first drafts fuck omg ydek how mich you‘ll need them. Let me give u an example as to how that CAN look:
My character liv went from
Being a selfish loner
Over to selfless sunshineie that always looks out for everyone that no one would have reason to hate
To finnaly:
An outsider cutie who learned the hard way, that looking out for others cannot replace looking out for yourself.

Enjoying kylux, seeing lesbian kylux fanart, and reading the ACOTAR books with friends, that’s To Claim a Throne’s origin story.
Now I have a world of fae where I can set plenty of standalone romances, and I maybe have at least another two full novels planned along with some novelettes and novellas.

Talk Shop Tuesday: What's one writing-related skill that you are currently working on/trying to improve as part of your craft?
Ooooh this is a fun one, thank you for the ask!!!
I geek out a lot about story structure, so I love love love the big picture of arcs and how they interact. But I think that leaves me more focused on the big picture than the little details that bring writing to life. Most of the time when I draft, I'm focused on clarity and brevity to just get out what I call the Minimum Viable Story: the minimum amount of writing to get the core story across. I don't think in tiny details or flowery language, just in broad actions and emotions, cause and effect. I think that's a good method for first drafts, or at least, it works for me.
But one thing I'd really like to improve on is the actual language I use, beyond just clarity. Sometimes I'm so focused on clarity that the writing feels dry, too literal, too straightforward. I love prose that feels like poetry, surprising metaphors and turns of phrase that aren't overused cliches, new and funny ways to describe familiar feelings. Sometimes when I'm shifting into the line-level editing mindset, I'll read a bunch of poetry to focus on that kind of thing.
That's more something I need to revise for, though, rather than worrying about while drafting, otherwise I'd never finish anything. That's why this is, I would say, a much bigger weakness in my fanfiction than my original novel, because I don't revise thoroughly at the line-level when I'm writing fanfiction since I'm more focused on the big picture beats and feelings.
People who naturally write in elaborate metaphors and weave in symbolism and cleverly subvert every cliched phrase into something new - I am endlessly impressed by you!!!!

does martyrs reach have aquariums? and if so what are adrien and co’s favorite sea animals :D
HMM they're not super common, but there are definitely a couple large aquariums! i think they would be seen by most people as a kind of research/learning space more than a place to go for an outing.
i'm gonna say: adrien—cephalopods, particularly nautili and cuttlefish, also nudibranchs (outside of sea animals, he likes koi) malise—deep sea anglerfish, deep sea stuff in general, jellyfish, particularly moon jellies gennady—gennady doesn't think about animals besides raches that much, but he probably would say something like a leopard seal is his favorite
also i never decided what exactly was in those murky tanks of water that marsilio kirchoff had in his office, but definitely not actual fish

"A story doesn't need a theme in order to be good" I'm only saying this once but a theme isn't some secret coded message an author weaves into a piece so that your English teacher can talk about Death or Family. A theme is a summary of an idea in the work. If the story is "Susan went grocery shopping and saw a weird bird" then it might have themes like 'birds don't belong in grocery stores' or 'nature is interesting and worth paying attention to' or 'small things can be worth hearing about.' Those could be the themes of the work. It doesn't matter if the author intended them or not, because reading is collaborative and the text gets its meaning from the reader (this is what "death of the author" means).
Every work has themes in it, and not just the ones your teachers made you read in high school. Stories that are bad or clearly not intended to have deep messages still have themes. It is inherent in being a story. All stories have themes, even if those themes are shallow, because stories are sentences connected together for the purpose of expressing ideas, and ideas are all that themes are.
