he doesn't want to accept it, but this is the life as it is.

You two met yourselves on NRC and soon you start to date. You two already have talked about it before, although always denying the reality.

The point is: Azul lives on seabed - being a kind of mermaid - and you can't stay underwater for a long without ending up drowning, being just a little human.

Which was something that probably would disturb your couple life in the future. Azul thought about doing a deal with you to transform you into a mermaid too. Then you would can live with him with no problems about breathe underwater. Since so you would can live with him. But at the same time he doesn't know if his magic was enough, and he didn't want to risk it either.

You don't talk about it a lot, already because of it too. But you two can't ignore the future happening under yours noses.

Soon you will end college and... and after this? What is going to happen..?

Your relationship as partners are almost perfect. You both could understand each other, at least some discussions a bit agressively, but with a 'happy' endind.

Soon you arrive to the last year of NRC. The things was becoming more difficult to reconcile between your relationship and the studies you have to do every day.

But anyway, you two always find some time to pass with each other. Going since to study together to small dates you both make late at night on Mostro Lounge.

Thanking to Jade and Floyd whos always helped you two to find time for you two. Floyd was more relax and Jade more organized. And they were very friends to you and shipps you with Azul.. fufufu.. helping beautifully to get you two together.

In your graduation, you and Azul go to a hang out to celebrate your success. Staying awake the whole night.

Taking small talks and reflexives things about some things more deep about yourselves. And in one of this talks holding hands already seeing the sunrise fillind the sky while the stars were going to sleep with the moon again. You return to the topic of how it's going now.

How you two will be together now...? Well, you don't know. This was the most purest truth.

Azul still wanted to take you with him, but he was more mature now. So he known that he would hear about your feeling until taking decisions like this. He wants to hear about you firstly. Will you likely to made this or you will choose to leave him and stay with your family...? Their still the most important people to you, he understand it, like, he also was being egoist about it wanting to take you with him for the same reason.

And, well...

You didn't choose him.

He tries to be strong about this, accepting your decision as he loves you above all. Knowing that if he loves, he must let go.

He hugs you closiest, kissing you deeply and desperately for the last time. As he supported you and helped you to take your things to leave to back to your family he still sad about it. He doesn't wanted to let you go out like that.

Lilia knew from the beginning that this would happen at some moment, but he didn't thought it would hurt so much...

You and Lilia met each other on Night Raven College in the 3rd year when you was transferred to the same class he was in. Becoming his classmate.

You two ended forming a wonderful duo and each day you both passed together you were going closer and more closer to each other. Until the moment that you realize your relation was turning in something that was more than just friends. You and Lilia became only one.

You wasn't a Diasomnia student, initially, but you ended tranferring yourself to there to be more near him. What also approached you to his family. Silver and Malleus also became very close to you, and I dare say they could see you as a parental figure too.

You started to date just after you two perceive that you weren't just friends. And it already was clearly to everyone else.

And soon you two finished college and you decided to go with Lilia to Briar's Valley. And then was all going pretty well. Your life was calm but prettiest funy too.

Everything was like a fairytale. But... nothing good lasts forever.

When you both least expected it, a war was started between Draconia's kingdom, where you two lived and with an enemy kingdom.

Lilia despite not being a war soldier more, he decided to go to the war to remembering the last times. Assuring that he would back alive and health to you and if anything would happen, he'll doesn't hesitate in asking to absence himself to the battlefield and come back to home yet. And until then, everything was going alright, Lilia still remembered how was the things and how to be the beast he was on the war formerly.

But we can't say that it's everything going so well to you too.

Being Lilia's partner, a great name on Briar's Valley, you was a target very searched for as a form to weaken the army. And because of it you ended being found by a enemy fleet who roamed in the forest.

The war was already happening on low intensity now. "It's near to the end." everyone thought.

Lilia was already leaving the battlefield, left totally the work to the younger ones. Coming back calmly to yours house, going to stay with you again without needing to worry yourselves with anything more.

Oh, well well...

...This wasn't what was coming for you, too,

You heard from Malleus that your boyfriend was coming back to home, being very excited to see him again. Deciding to make something to surprise him, very proud of having him alive yet.

Then you decide to prepare something to the day he will arrive, organizing something in you house only for you both. Nothing too grand. As something more like a "welcome back" to him.

When Lilia's arrive there, putting his feet inside your house, he came across with something horrible. Something that made him wanted to stay and die on the war, just for never seeing it.

Lilia just saw you getting a shot inside your own house in the exact moment he come there. He concluded that it was planned 'cause of him. Barely noticing when he left an agony scream out of his mouth calling your name. But it was already too late.

The shot was accurate. Not leaving one measly chance for you to survive. There was no magic in the world that could fix it.

You stiil conscious by a split of seconds having heard Lilia's voice for the last time on your life. But not his usual voice, a voice that you'd didn't want to hear, you never would like to hear his pain like this.

Lilia ran to you, catching you in his arms as he cries huggin' you. Irrationally. As his love could save you from it. But it couldn't. He cried a child for the rest of the night in the painfully like as he could. Not supporting the pain of losing the thing most precious thing in his life.

Oh, The Great Seven, how he wanted that it isn't being true. What hells him made to deserve this?!

Lilia was missing for a half of a day, appearing just in the end of the afternoon to talk to the King. Asking if he may request for a dignified funeral to you and telling to Malleus what happened. Lilia was still very embittered with the occured and Malleus be very chocked and sad for what happened by losting someone else of his family.

Lilia always known that you will die first than him. He was immortal and you don't. But anyway, that way...?

He visited your grave's everyday after this. But something still wasn't satisfying him. He wanted so bad to revenge you now.

My...😭 revising it i saw how I REALLY wrote really nothing to Azul writing for another characters beyond diasomnia is so hard to me *screams*

My thoughts on Laurence Zvhal

soft warning for aaron slander. im not really slandering him im just sharing my conspiracy theories. ALSO THIS BITCH IS LONGGGG AND THERES SO MUCH RAMBLIGN GOD HELP

god i love him so bad... thats the main thing i wanna get cleared up right the fuck away. i love him SOSO bad and i think jesson uses him completely inappropiately and im stealing him. okay? hes my oc now.

this is also a warning, i havent refreshed completely with my mcd knowledge and mystreet is more fresh in my mind so if i say something wrong about a plot point be nice to me im doing my best im a little guy with a dissociative disorder so i forget shit

aaalllrighty where the hell do i begin?

okay so first off, right off the bat: when he got back from the nether in mcd, he should've been blind. because

disability representation. blindness isnt something that can just be cured unless you get touched by jesus christ himself (im not religious but i think thats in the bible lol) and it something that impacts millions of people on the daily. exposing that to young kids can introduce them to the fact that not everybody is just like them and that people come in many different shapes and sizes. and it ofc helps anyone who happens to be blind have a chracter to relate to and project on.

do YOU KNOW HOW COOL IT WOULD BE FOR A BLIND KNIGHT? like fighting is a very visual skill for the most part you need to see your opponents sword to properly dodge it or you are good and truly fucked. so taking something integral to fighting and ripping it away gives another great chance for character development as well as some really sick ass scenes where laurence goes all toph and uses his senses that are now firing at all cylinders and kicks total ass

ANGST ANGST ANGST ANGST!! like. laurence is a very visual guy, right? he sees pretty ladies to flirt with, he's a knight, he cares about his looks. so now he has all of that pretty much ripped away from him in an instant. what the fuck is he supposed to do? he flounders. hes a shell of his former self, in a way. like hes still there, hes still alive, but is he even laurence anymore? its something he has to learn to embrace and come to terms with. the main cast could also be super encouraging for him and basically is like "hey dude youre still the same fuckin awesome guy and you can still do all these fucking awesome things you just gotta learn how to do it again"

itd make for some cool relationship building between him and garroth or him and zoey or him and aphmau or even like him and cadenza. it gives him external relationships outside of just aphmau's love interest

JESUS FUCK I YAPPED A LOT ABOUT LAURENCE BEING BLIND OKAY

i think giving laurence (in both mcd and mystreet) jealousy/possessiveness issues is lame and a total turn off. like its such a gross thing to tell to kids, no? like "hey kids if you love someone they are ENTITLED to love you back and they CANT be in love with someone else"

obviously this behavior is still shut down but still... like why include it? especially because, prior to him falling in love, he seemed to be just a completely chill dude who only gets angry if he needs to. but suddenly hes mass slaughtering people at weddings (mcd), stalking his love interest because he saw her talking with another guy (mystreet), giving aphmau the cold shoulder because she is either indecisive or loses interest in him (this goes in both series i believe)

like it just gives you such an ick and obviously i know why they did this. i will say this until the day they put me in the damn ground its because of motherfucking aaron becoming a love interest. i have zero issues with aaron as a character and i even like him as a character (i have redeemed myself. i used to hate him) but as a love interest i think hes the worst thing to happen to every series because he just simply destroys any male character who had the potential to be shipped with aphmau which was all of them

were moving to mystreet here because mystreet is the best and most glaring example of this because mystreet was after they had decided to make aarmau canon in mcd and you can tell because of the way they set up laurence and garroth.

lemme explain and yes i know this is deviating from strictly laurence a tad but stay with me

im not going to use pdh because pdh was written after mystreet based off of the fact that for some reason travis doesnt know aphmau???? despite them being best friends in pdh??? WHATEVER WHWATEVER NOT THE POINT OKAY. were also going to completely disregard the undercurrent of grooming for aarmau and were going to pretend like this relationship is normal and not at all weird. okay? okay.

so from the moment you first meet laurence and garroth, you can tell their vibes are off. theyre openly hostile with each other (even if its playful theyre still "competeing" for her), theyre trying to shove each other out of the way. it makes them seem unlikeable. every time theyre on screen theyre talking to her or about her (often times planning on stalking her or getting irrationally jealous because they heard something through the grapevine) and it just turns the viewer off. if youre a first time viewer without any preconcieved notions of these character you're thinking "wow thats creepy. why would she stay friends with them? why would she bother sticking around her if all they want is a relationship out of her and not a genuine friendship?" and if you happened to watch mcd first youre thinking "wow is this how theyre really like? wow i dont like them at all anymore" and then you go to mcd and see their worst traits being ramped up and amplified to make them even more unlikable

and then you see aaron

in mcd hes a silent protector. hes always by aphmau's side. hes her one true loyal knight even when she does something he doesnt like. they understand eachother in ways that laurence and garroth just dont

in mystreet hes her guard dog. hes always there to step in when shes uncomfortable. hes her secret best friend her home away from home. he makes her feel loved in such a way that laurence garroth never could since theyve only ever cared about her superficially and not in any way that really, truly mattered

it makes the audience cling to him. it makes them think "well fuck why did the other guys even try hes obviously perfect for her" it blinds them of any other potential option because jesson just didnt give any other opportunity to shine through.

and thats fine. thats completely fine they can do whatever the hell they want to with their series because as one creative to another sometimes you just gotta make your bed and lie in it knowing that not every bitch out there is going to like every creative decision you make.

as a viewer it just.... it just makes you feel dissatisfied. leaves a bitter taste in your mouth, especially given the fact that in mcd you were basically told "these are your two options for love interests" and then a third love interest swoops in seemingly out of nowhere, gets her pregnant, and then he fucking dies.

in mystreet it just like... ugh. i dont know. i guess i feel happy for them because i can see their development. but like me personally i cant really feel shit for ms aarmau simply because of pdh and the FUCKING WEIRDNESS OF THEIR RELATIONSHIP

sorry this, once again, turned into a rant about how aaron's introduction as a love interest fucking ruined everything (my words, not anyone elses)

to sum up this long, long, long post my thoughts on laurence are as follows: i think hes written very poorly in mystreet and severely mishandled in mcd. i think that he had the potential to be very interesting in both series if used properly and he couldve had more intersting things happen to him in terms of the love interest department.

i think hes a character that gets the a lot of the character assassination tirade that jesson went on and i wish we got to see more of him but unfortunately we never will since you know his va left.

but most importantly:

hes my pookie wookie booboo bear and i love him so bad and im going to shake him and bite him and rip him to shred

well... i hope you got what you wanted. i have emptied all of my thoughts about laurence

Pairings: Merida DunBroch & Hiccup Haddock Horrendous III (mostly platonic)

Word count: 5,424

Synopsis:

After reuniting with his mother during a crusade for magic, Hiccup is overwhelmed by the things that this event has awakened, however, he is not alone, a good friend comes to help him.

Or, where Merida and Hiccup tell each other parts of their lives that they hadn’t allowed themselves to share with anyone else.

(Most of this is just Hiccup and Merida telling each other how they viewed their stories)

Warnings: Abandonment issues, regret, insecurities.

Author's note:

Hi everyone! First of all, this is my first fanfic ever, I wrote this just to please my 9-year-old-self and she was obsessed with mericcup, but it has little to no romantic content, it's more of a character study, I needed to understand MY Hiccup, because I changed A LOT of the HTTYD plot, I really just stayed with the first movie, the rest it's just little bits of all of the other things, so keep that in mind. For me it's just the start on a slow burn but but you don't have to see it the same way.

Also, this is part of a RoTBTFD saga, and if you just like all of this people being friends, no shipp drama (not even the canon one), then the first book of said saga is for you, no shipps, just friends and bonding and a little bit of angst, after that, there willl be slowburn mericcup, so stay tuned! (The thing with Hiccup and Valka would be fixed eventually, it's in their nature to understand).

That morning, Hiccup discovered that her mother had not been killed by a dragon, leaving no trace behind, but left Berk, she had seen how a dragon showed curiosity for her son, saw that dragons are not bloodthirsty beasts, she thought maybe there was something else behind all this ridiculous war, but if so, in the village they would never listen to her, they would probably throw her overboard; being the village chieftess would not gain her any privileges. So she left her son in the care of her husband, and left the only home she had ever known.

When Valka and Stoick reunited, she was sure he would hate her; but her husband simply took her face, wiped her tears and welcomed her back into the family; turns out that Vikings don’t usually stop to think about the past. Or, well, most Vikings.

At first Hiccup was happy, but as the day went on, he began to think about what it meant for his mother to be gone, everything plummeted when in his mind a short, simple and hurtful phrase echoed: "So, that’s why she left me".

That terrible idea did not come alone, it took many different forms, but so far it had not left him alone. Hiccup retained his emotions as much as he could, it wasn’t something he used to do, but this time he didn’t really know how to act, so he kept a slight smile all day and just watched her parents dance, love and tell how much they had missed each other. During the night everything exploded. In his insomnia, Hiccup was scheming so many ideas and questions that he thought he would ignite at any moment. Then he began to feel that he was short of air and that he had a big, heavy lump in his throat, he needed fresh air urgently, so he began to walk towards the exit, and he inadvertently started running; he only stopped outside the ice cave, then the air began to fill his lungs again, but it was not enough to continue to hold the cry and fell on his knees. Shortly after that, Toothless arrived, he brought a boot and a blanket, the dragon had accompanied him for many nights where it was only him, Toothless, the fire of the chimney and his silent tears, today he did not care to let out sobs or gasps, he was tired of being silent.

The pair of friends were huddled together, until the sound of the iron falling interrupted them.

-Hiccup? Oh my, are you hurt? Is everything okay?

It was Merida, her hair looked even more agitated than usual and she had an untied boot. What they heard was the girl’s huge sword that she had dropped to the ground as soon as she saw Hiccup hugging Toothless and rushed over to make sure they were okay.

-What are you doing up?

-I... couldn’t sleep and I heard you running away, I thought something would have attacked you, besides, I don’t know if your sense of direction is as bad as Corona’s and I didn’t want you to get lost here by yourself.

She finished scanning them and their agitated breathing began to stabilize, apparently no one had hurt them. However, she noticed his friend’s wet eyes and the dragon’s sad look.

-Oh Hiccup, do you need anything? I can give you some space, or listen to you or just stay with you without talking or-

-Stay. Please stay.

The boy wiped his face a little, sat on the edge of an overhanging rock and pointed the place to her. She sat and then turned to him:

-Do you... want to talk?

-I’m not sure, but I’d like to try.

-Whatever you need.

She smiled at him, and he returned the gesture. Toothless moved a little so that Merida could reach his head to scratch it. Hiccup took a deep breath:

-These days have left me exhausted, but today more than tired, I am... confused, I think, a little angry even. Meeting your mother after 20 years shouldn’t be so painful, I should be happy, all my life I was imagining what my life would have been like if she had been with me at Berk. I thought that would have made the days where I haven't met Toothless yet, well, easier. I never imagined there would be a life with her away from the island, and now I’m not sure what I would have preferred, or why I care so much to answer that question.

-How did you imagine your life with her before?

-Well... I don’t know, I think that more than having her with me, I needed someone to keep me company, anyone. I know it’s hard to believe, but I wasn’t always "Berk’s pride".

In the last sentence Hiccup made his voice deeper and bent his arms showing his thin biceps. "At least he still maintains his terrible sense of humor," she thought. Then the boy returned to his hunched pose, resting his elbows on his knees.

-I tried to fit in as much as I could with the other Vikings, to be strong and big like them, but as hard as I tried I could never, not quite. You know? For the last attack before we faced the red death, my father needed volunteers to go on an expedition to find the nest, and nobody wanted to go until he said that whoever stayed would have to take care of me. Of all the adults in the village, only Gobber, the old woman and a couple of farmers stayed on the island. Maybe they didn’t see me as a productive member of the community, and I was always screwing up, but they didn’t gave me a chance to prove otherwise either, they’re too stubborn to do something like that. Before I understood that dragons are not enemies, I was always to be equal to others, or not to get in the way. I was so lonely for so long.

Merida thought of her father, he taught her that she had potential, to develop it, she couldn't imagine what life could have been in the castle without him. However, the walls of the castle were very lonely as well, more so when her brothers were not yet born.

-And today, to see her, to know her a little... We are very similar, now I see that all of this-

He pointed at all of himself.

-Didn’t came out of nowhere. I think having her would have made me feel accompanied, understood. And the worst thing is that she saw Berk, she lived there, Gods! She was the head of the village! , she saw everything that was wrong about dragons, and she saw me, she knew I was not as strong as the rest because I came early to this world and almost died in the crib. Still, I don’t understand what made her think Berk was a good place to leave me all alone. And I know it’s unfair to say that, I had my father and Gobber, but being the Chief while grieving her, I wasn’t his only responsibility, since I was 7 he left me almost totally in charge of Gobber, and neither of them ever listens to me. I don’t understand how anyone can make that decision... But I’m willing to listen, maybe I don’t like what she'll say, but I think I need answers.

The boy turned to see his friend, and was surprised to see her gaze fixed on him, it seemed that she was about to release an arrow, one would think that that expression would be intimidating, but Hiccup had seen her frown the same way when Jack showed her the way, or when Rapunzel explained to her how they had solved the whole matter of her hair, the sun and the moon; she was simply paying attention to him, only that he had never seen her so determined (and so close). The boy felt the heat running down his face to his ears and looked down, he thanked for his tan skin and Odin who hid the sun so she wouldn't notice. Even now that he was used to being listened attentively by the entire village, he had never talked about that part of his life with anyone, not even Astrid, because it was not necessary, she had seen it with her own eyes.

-What about the blonde girl? I thought you and her... Well, you have a very strong connection, I thought she would have been with you since the beginning.

-You mean Astrid?

-She’s the only blonde girl in the group, Haddock, I doubt you can mistake her for Gobber.

The boy smiled slightly, she was right, and he really needed sleep.

-Oh, well, she became my friend thanks to Toothless, like everyone else, although our story is a little more complicated than that. I remember when we were barely 10 years old I used to go out and walk in the woods as far as I could, and once I got lost, that time I thought the rest of my life I would live among deer and rabbits, but she found me, told me "no Viking should be left behind", then took my hand, guided me through the forest showing me in detail what was the way back. By the time we saw the village again, she had my heart in her hands.

-You really are easy to impress, huh?

-Hey, that was the first time someone from the village care to help me. And the first time someone called me a 'Viking'.

-As you say, lover boy.

-Well, after that, it was about four years of absolutely nothing, at best she scolded me, saying that I had to take my place among others, take things seriously or try harder. Today I understand why she told me all those things, she was one of the few who had a little common sense, and it was always central to her the commitment to Berk and the community, without blind trust, of course. She was the first to trust me and Toothless, the first to know about him, and the first to support me in the fight against the red death. But it was only until that moment that she really saw me, that she regarded me as more than just another child in the village. And after the battle with the dragons ended, she... Well, she fell in love with me, and she didn’t know what to do with that, so she acted like nothing happened, and when I tried to get close to her, she would get me away, usually with hurtful words.

-How did you solve that? You look so close now...- She had the same eyes a kid has when the bedtime story gets too exciting.

-Actually, we fixed it because I exploded and asked for an explanation

-Did you have to explode to ask for an explanation?

-Huh, I guess so.

-And did you told each other how you felt?

-It sounds easier than it is, but yes, long story short we did. Now that we knew that we loved each other, it seemed pretty easy to fix everything, right? Well, we tried to be together for a while, but we realized that we wanted different things, she wanted to stay and I wanted to leave, and that what was good for us was just to support each other and that made our friendship even stronger, she would make sure I don't lose the floor and I would help her... Well, I’m not really sure, but she likes me a lot so I guess I have to do something right. She’s like my soul mate and she’s one of the most important people in my life.

-So you’re not together now?

-Nope, this guy is single. Why? You interested?

Hiccup arched an eyebrow and gave her a smirk. A very dumb one. Merida let out a chortle, although it really sounded far away from a normal laugh.

-Okay, I have experience with rejections, but you didn’t have to make fun of me like that.

Hiccup’s remark only made her laugh more, and instead of feeling offended, the laugh became contagious.

-I guess I have a bright future, I have found my mother, new friends, a mission, an opportunity to learn more about dragons... Maybe I didn’t get a girlfriend with a stunning Scottish accent, but whatever.

-If you keep making me laugh we’ll wake up the others.

-It seems that I touched a nerve.

-You have no idea.

-I could, if you'd like to tell me...

-I would like to, but I’m not sure this is the right timing, you are my priority right now.

There was silence for a moment, a warmer feeling in Hiccup's stomach.

-Gods, you have no idea how much I like to hear that.

Hiccup smiled at Merida, and this time she was the one who suddenly had her face as red as her hair. She didn’t thank anything nor anyone, she was well aware that even in the dark night her carmine face was evident.

-I’d like to say that to you more often, but if you’re going to get all sentimental every time I do, then I think I’ll keep it for special occasions only.

-Ha ha, how funny, even when you blush for my charms you take advantage of my vulnerability.

-You’re not as charming as you think, Haddock.

-Ouch, okay. Thanks for your consideration, but I think a distraction might help, let me listen to you for a while, would you?

Merida sighed, took her hands to her face, hoping the cold touch would help lower the temperature of her cheeks.

-Okay, I’ll tell you.

Hiccup got up, moving a little away from the edge, Toothless accompanied him and settled down so that the two friends could lie down on him and look at the stars. Merida understood and settled down on the side of Hiccup, arranged the blanket that Toothless had brought to cover them both.

-You see, a few years ago, my mother sent three letters to the lords of the allied houses, Macguffin, Dingwall and Macintosh. I had already reached the appropriate age to make the traditional games for the heirs of each house to fight for my hand in marriage.

-So, all my life I lived inside the castle, I only went out to ride Angus or for some lesson; I do not know how my mother expected me to be ready to marry when I had only had human contact with my family and the people who work in the castle; or maybe that’s the whole point. Anyway, back then, my mom and I had a terrible relationship, she wanted me to become this perfect princess, a symbol of righteousness and grace that is always at the service of all and whose life is limited to tending the castle and the lands. And I’ve never wanted that, I mean, now I understand why all the boring protocols I’ve been taught throughout my life are important, and why I'm important. But at the time my mother only thought that this was the only goal of my life and I thought that nothing that happened made sense.

-Duh. Nonetheless, when I faced the clans to defend my hand I almost started a war. My mother was furious, we had a big fight and I thought that the only way to achieve what I wanted was by changing my mother so that the thought that bethrothing me to some lord was not necessary. I took Angus and I rode into the forest, we reached some very old stone steles, in my kingdom we say that those stones were placed by benevolent trolls, and that there they wrote instructions to control magic, as a symbol of peace between the men and the creatures of the forest. It’s a very important magic center. When I got there, the first thing I saw was a path of little blue fire-like creatures, what we call Will-o’-the-whisp, souls that decided to stay longer on earth to guide the living to their destiny. They took me to a witch’s cabin and I asked for an enchantment to change my mother, I wanted her to stop believing that marriage was a good idea, but when I came home and gave the enchantment to my mom, she turned into a bear. Once again I acted without knowing the consequences.

"Magic really is strong in DunBroch", he thought while trying to hide his amazed expression. At the same time, he remembered having an encounter with something very similar to this souls Merida described, but kept it to himself.

-Then I had to take her out of the castle, and try to find answers. Meanwhile, my mom and I had the opportunity to get to know each other a little better, she listened to me and I listened to her, or something like that, she was a bear, she couldn’t communicate with anything but gestures.

-That explains why it is so easy for you to understand Toothless.- he said, althoug he didn't mean it to be outloud. He scolded himself.

Merida rolled her eyes, but she contained laughter.

-Well, we went back to the witch’s cabin, and it turned out she left us a message, said we only had two days to undo the enchantment or my mother would become a bear forever, and just recited a couple of rhymes as a clue.

The girl cleared her throat a little and gave a more mystical tone to her voice:

Hiccup felt chills, sometimes he forgets that Merida can have visions and recite prophecies, when the girl’s blue eyes became glassy, as if looking at something in the distance, while speaking in Gaelic.

-That was really creepy.

-I think you’re too soft.

-Oh come on, attacking me again. Better keep talking.

-As you wish. The point is that it didn’t really tell us anything, so we left, frustrated. Well, before that we made a couple of weird mixes with the jars the witch had left and almost destroyed the whole cabin.

-I think we should reconsider entrusting you with the spell...

-Haven’t you just say you wanted a chance to prove yourself despite your mistakes and-

-Okay, okay, I get it.

-Better. Then we were discouraged and nervous, but once again the will-o’-the-whisp guided us, this time towards the ruins of an old kingdom. That’s where I had my first vision. I touched a broken carved stone, and I saw a man become a bear in an ancient throne room. You see, my mother always told me the story of an ancient kingdom, the king divided the kingdom among his four sons before he died, but the elder was superb, and proclaimed himself the legitimate leader of all the land above his brothers, The war on those lands continued until my father and the lords united to defeat a common enemy. Remember when I told you how my father lost his leg?

-He was attacked by a bear called Mort

-Mor'du, but yes. It turned out that in all that time, the greedy son who faced his brothers became Mor'du, he wanted the strength of 10 men and asked the witch for the same enchantment as me. When I returned to the present and saw the broken stone, I understood what the witch told me: during the fight with my mother, I cut in half a tapestry that she was making, the whole family was in it, I sliced my sword right were my mother and I held hands. That tapestry had to be mended. Suddenly, in the shadows I saw a huge beast full of arrows that pierced his thick skin, a blind eye, and a black and ruffled fur that was advancing dangerously towards me. Without knowing it, we had entered Mor'du’s home. My mother and I ran and we managed to lose him. Now that we knew what to do, we went sneaking to the palace. Meanwhile, in the castle, things were getting tense, the lords wanted to know which clan I was going to marry. My father defended me every second...

Merida smiled slightly, remembering her father's courage.

-Before mending the tapestry we had to avoid a war, so I went to talk to the lords while my mother explained to me with signs what to say, and against all odds, my mother asked me to say to break with tradition and give me and the young heirs, the opportunity to follow our heart and find love in its time.

-That's hard to believe, amazing.

-I know, I wouldn't have expected it, I was honestly about to pick one of those three before my mother stopped me to give a precious speech about making our own decisions.

-Really? Which one were you going to choose?

Hiccup's eyes were mischievous. In less than a second, Merida’s face was boiling.

-It is not important.

-Oh, come on, I don’t even know them.

-Most likely you will.

-Even if I have the pleasure of meeting then, I promise not to tell anyone.

I thought I had lost her forever, and it was my fault. There are still days when I have nightmares where I really lose her like that, where i loose her because I was selfish and stubborn.- He saw something in Merida, something he thougt impossible: fear, regret.

-That day, life gave me another chance, and my mother returned to her human form, just like my brothers. After all the fuss, my mother and I really changed, I took her lessons more seriously, and she was more patient with me. Now we both hear each other, and we understand each other, we’re closer than ever.- Merida was watching something beyond the sea in front o of them, her eyes full of love and pain at the same time. She was far from home.

-Despite everything, I wanted to learn more about magic, how to use it, stop it, and mold it as much as possible. So without telling my parents, I went to take lessons with the same witch who gave me the spell that time, I mean, she just gave me what I asked for, and I know some problems would have been avoided if she had explained in detail what was going to happen and how to undo the spell, but she’s the only one who knew magic in the whole kingdom, and being something so alive and so present in our lives, it seemed wrong not to know anything about it, even if in doing so, I hurt the relationship with my family... My parents didn’t want me to go near magic again, but being in DunBroch that’s impossible.

-I think I understand you, the dragons were also as present in our life as the sheep and we never stopped to think why they attacked us. We just took the war for granted.

-You know? The relic I’m trying to save on this mission belongs to one of the clans, blesses them with good harvests every day of the year, and we all rely heavily on those harvests during the winter, if I didn't have asked the witch for help, right now we wouldn’t know what to do, chaos would ensue and everyone in the kingdom would be dead by next spring. I honestly think we all make a great team, I’m sure we’re gonna make it. I know that even after we recover the magic of the relic, we have a lot ahead of us. You don’t know how grateful I am to everyone for helping us with this and trusting me.

Merida tried to hide a yawn, and failed. Hiccup sneered.

-Don’t you think I should have been the one bored by your story? Or doesn’t Her Majesty usually sleep late?

-My story was not boring, Haddock. And, just so you know, I sleep a lot, sometimes in the castle, it is necessary for my mother to take the triplets to bother me to get me out of bed. And between my unexpected insomnia, Toothless and this delicious blanket, I’m more comfortable than you’d expect to be out in the open at midnight.

Hiccup realized that he was also starting to feel heavy on his eyelids. Finally, he was resting.

-Sorry I woke you up and worried you, but i'm thankful that you did.

-Hey, we’re more than a team, okay? We’re friends. The day you need me and I’m not there for you is the day my heart stops beating, I promise.

He took a moment to see the stars shining on him, and then to Merida and the kind smile she had over him. There was something comfortable in her, and not just that, she was amazing in all kinds of aspects; he found himself mentally listing all of them.

-Well...- She looked nervious and her cheeks were light pink, maybe he stared at her a little too long- I think it's time for us to go back before we fall sleep here, don't you think?

-Yeah, sure, you're right.- He got up in a jump. -Let's go.- He extended his hand to help her get up, she took it.

-I'll take the blanket!- She said in a playful tone, and hurried to cover herself with the thick fabric.

-How considerate of you...- He looked at her like she was dressed in jewels and silk. Fortunately, Merida was already walking back and didn't noticed.

That morning Hiccup thought that he would have a broken heart for the rest of the trip at least, but as he saw her leave, he realized that he wasn't so sure anymore.

Yeah i ship Shigadabi, but I'm real picky about it and don't really engage with 75% of the content.

1. What made you ship it?

It's a popular ship so its kinda everywhere. First getting into the fandom i saw it a lot and started shipping it because it's popular. Their dynamics can be fun too, and they have a lot in common so I do see why it's popular.

2. What are your favorite things about the ship?

I'm picky about shigadabi, but i like when it's at least a little messed up and unhealthy. Whether it's mutually unhealthy, there's codependency, trust issues, heavy angst, etc. I also really like it as a toxic ship, especially with dark themes involved, like blackmail, Tomura abusing the power imbalance, abuse and manipulation, lots of drama and issues between them. I'm meh about them in a healthy sense, i can't read them being cutesy, it's just not how i see them, but i do love them as a toxic ship.

3. Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I cannot see Tomura as meek or timid like so much of the fandom protrays him, i won't judge but i cannot see it for the life of me and it's a pet peeve. I also find it really hard to see either of them willingly being submissive; Tomura would never give up control in the relationship to anybody, especially not Dabi. Dabi would fight submitting to him, but overall would give up once Shigaraki pushed enough- especially if he triggers Touya's childhood trauma and need to be useful. Dabi would, however, go along with whatever because he doesn't care enough though. In an abusive dynamic, Tomura has ALL the cards in his hands and people do not use that enough. It's so fucky. I love power imbalances.

advice for writing a Liu x Raiden fic? Honestly, I'm starting to like this shipp and it makes me sad that there are few fics about them

Unsure where to start here honestly or whether or not this is good advice, but here we go.

So you got your blorbos and you wanna write a little story about them. Then let's start on what it's about. It doesn't have to be overly complicated like figuring out the plots and themes and symbolism and other stuff that can go into a story. It can be as easy as just wanting to write something silly that came to mind. For example, are you getting the silly urge to write about Raiden & Liu Kang just being domestic and cute? Then that's good enough. Want to write something spicey? Go for it! Maybe something sad, go right ahead!

Ok, so you know you want to write something that's cute, spicey, or angsty, now comes down to what are they doing that is cute, spicey, or angsty. For the cute, are you getting the urge to write the couple just having a stroll in the park? Maybe this is an AU where they have kids of their own? For spicey, are you getting the feral urge to see writing of Raiden getting pinned down? Or vise versa? Is there a particular kink you think one of them might have and want to experiment? For angst, is the sadness due to death? A miscommunication? Or something that's emotionally troubling them?

Basically what I'm trying to say is start tiny and work up into something bigger. Start with an idea and work up with it, and don't make it too complicated just yet (or do, I don't know how your mind works). Start with basic ideas.

Now, in terms of how to write the characters themselves, that's where we get into the fun part. RESEARCH. Fortunately, plenty of YouTube videos have the MK story in the form of a long movie format, so you can easily just watch the MK1 (or MK11, MKX, MK9, and other previous MK games) story whenever you want. And be sure to study how the writers portray them. Pay attention to their mannerisms, how they speak, how they react to situations, their relationships with other characters, etc.

Another advice I'll give is to find inspiration. I mentioned this a couple of times in the written chapters of my "Oops, Kung Lao is Dead Again" AU, but I got heavy inspiration from the many artists who made their separate pieces of a What If scenario about Kung Lao dying in the MK1 universe. Finding a song, art piece, official or fan writings, anything that helps inspire you to write what's in your head can make the experience more enjoyable, imo

I'll leave this off with one final thing as well...Just write it. Don't worry about getting grammatical errors ironed out right away, allow some misspellings, hell, write the thing that's been on your mind, even if, for right now, it makes no sense in context. Soon, once you get to typing, you'll start to piece everything together. And don't be afraid to take your time. While there may be days where you feel like you can pump out 13 chapters or one-off stories back to back, it's better when you let yourself sit down and reflect on how you want the story to sound and feel

- Dianna would see Keigan as what true justice stands for, thinking she is like an angel brought to earth even with all the corruption in the justice system, and Keigan would see Dianna as a woman that, even though has her questionable methods, is also seeking justice just like her

- Jack would NOT survive a game where both of them were together i'm telling you that

- Idk i have not talked a lot about Dianna's lore but if you guys knew it YOU WOULD AGREE WITH ME!!!

Started season 2 last night, Wukong started his "vacation" and i already know it's gonna end in angst.

Sad Wukong doesn't appear much but loved the New Year's scene and that whole special in general.

DBK and Princess Iron Fan are literally the cutest, Redson is focking awesome.

I see why people shipp Tang and Pigsy, they are such husbands and that fan service of them in the "fantasy" episode where MK is trapped must have been everything.

Sandy is a sweetheart, was gonna make a therapy joke but the show already made it for me.

Macaque can die in a ditch along with the shadowpeach shipp. (Sorry guys, you will never get that from me, I hate that shipp with a passion)

Hello! I’m a new aos watcher, so I apologise if this is a repeated rant, I just wanted to vent a little and found your blog :) I just finished through season 3 and 4 and those were really… rough on fitzsimmons, more so than the first 2, and I think it’s because the writers were so inconsistent? 3A was just a mess to jemma. she was so hot and cold, but not in the way you’d expect from being on a planet. it was like watching a different character almost every other episode [1/6]

[2/6] she has ptsd, then she doesn’t, she’s professing love for fitz, then professing it for will. I was getting whiplash! It felt like the writers put her through hell and then didn’t know how to come back from it, but gathered their bearings in 3B (although if I’m honest, that felt a little cheap, because it was a redo for her relationship with fitz but she still never got to react to being on a freaking alien planet!)

[3/6] and then season 4 was so hard to watch how they tore fitz down. I just find it so hard to believe that, without jemma, fitz would be such a monster, because he had to be a good person too, right? otherwise its like he had 0 personality before jemma and she carved him into who he was, but that doesn’t make sense. I guess I’m still shocked that he never woke up from it, even though everyone else did. it felt like the writers pushed him far (too far) and didn’t know what to do with him.

[4/6] I haven’t seen season 5 so I hope they mention it a little bit, but it was a real struggle to see how extreme they went with him, and Im honestly struggling with whether or not i should go on because the writers seem to love to push them to extremes and then backpedal and not in any way that resolves anything, it really makes me cringe sometimes!

[5/6] I also thought it was strange that fitz got a chance to say, very clearly, that he would always choose jemma over anyone, but that jemma never said anything about that for will? I get that jemma is more reserved than fitz, but I’m still a little sore about that, it doesn’t help with fitz looking like besotted second choice, is all I’m saying. I guess I’ll have to see in the later seasons…

[6/6] anyway, i'm sorry for this, i had about 4 seasons of angst built up in me and i didn't know who to turn to! i really like the show, but i am starting to try and watch with less and less expectations because i keep getting my hopes up for a real resolution and it hasn't happened after almost 100 episodes... thank you for listening and for being so friendly from what i see! i hope i haven't poked old wounds or anything !

Welcome to the Fandom, and you have no idea how much these kinds of asks are right up my ally over the years. I’d say go digging through my blog for more of the metas but that is spoiler central in there so I hope this will suffice until you are done.

First and foremost I don’t want to spoil anything for you but I’ll say to you what I said to the fandom at the end of Season 4....just hang in there we have to trust that the writers have a plan. I”m REALLY gonna stress this one cause I have a feeling you’ll be back.

Season 3 does indeed hold many old wounds and a pile of story lines that started and then went no where or flat out didn’t make sense. The whole Space Rando thing was upsetting to say the least but I will tell you the writers said in the Season 3 Declassified that he was nothing more than a roadblock in getting Fitzsimmons together, 12 episodes, but that is what is was. Were there other ways they could have worked with a more father figure Space Rando and Jemma’s PTSD for that delay, yes, but to be very honest they did not have the real estate to do that kind of story the justice it needed with everything else going on. It is also worth noting they had to fire the actor that played Will and in that had to change a few things, IE Hive was Ward. Real estate wise the cast had gotten pretty large at that point and there just wasn’t enough time to properly deal with all that was going on.

Season 4 they did much better, had things mapped out better, but that still didn’t change the fact that I suspect there were a few lane changes story wise . Again thanks to the declassified books. And over the years I’ve done A LOT of metas on the Framework and I think something that gets lost a lot is what Radcliffe said he wanted and what AIDA actually did when it came to fixing a regret.

Radcliffe told AIDA, in order to keep the team quiet and not trying to bust out like May did, was to take away a regret. And for May that was Bahrain. That change was what set up the hell scape we came into with Hydra in charge. Radcliffe was blissfully off on his happy Island with no clue what she was really up too until it was too late.

After 4.14 when AIDA got her hands on the rest of the team she didn’t do like she did with May, Change her biggest regret, rather she changed A regret and for everyone but Fitz stuck them somewhere where they wouldn’t get in her way. Mack got his daughter back and was ready to die in there with her. Mace got to be the Hero Inhuman Leader he always wanted to be. Coulson was a teacher. May was where her regret left her. Daisy (had she been replaced) would have just been another foot soldier in Ophelia’s army. And Jemma was where she could never ever have a chance of getting to Fitz because she feared their love and that Jemma would take him from her. And I have proof those were not the regrets that they would have had fixed and I’ll circle back to that in a second.

Fitz was her target all along. She knew from the Darkhold she needed him for what she wanted. Looking Glass and Love. However, she didn’t realize that his heart always was Jemma’s and when he wasn’t brainwashed and controlled within an inch of his life that he’d leave her in a second. She mistook his previous acts of caring and empathy as love and had no understanding of the depths of human emotions. IE you can love people different ways. Sure he cared about AIDA but he loves Jemma with his heart and soul and vise versa.

As Fitz was her target she fixed things so that she could insert herself in his life in Jemma’s place and that he would have grown up with his awful father who taught him that cruelty and power was the way to go. This also kept out any positive and caring influences like his Mother, Jemma, and the team.

I said I had proof that some of those regrets weren’t necessarily what the team would have picked. That came via Self Control from Robo Coulson and Robo Fitz bearing in mind these LMD’s all had scans of who’d they replaced. Their memories and their desires.

Robo Coulson told Robo May to let this whole hostile takeover happen because in the Framework they were happy and together. That was decidedly not the case there though their connection ended up proving crucial to getting everyone out.

Robo Fitz told Jemma he was doing this for her so they could get married, grow old together. Had he known he would be sending Jemma literally into the grave Robo Fitz would not have gone along with the plan. He thought he was getting Jemma and they were going to go live their own Happily Ever After in there. Yeah, not the case either.

With the not waking up, no one but Coulson woke up and that was only thanks to Tahiti. And yes, it was brutal. Every week my poor ask box got more and more upset and as a fandom we were more than ready to get the hell out of there. I mistakingly died on the hill that Jemma would snap him out of it (though I did accurately predict the second Fitznapping....yay). She didn’t because this isn’t Once Upon a Time, True Love’s kiss doesn’t break the curse of having your mind completely wiped by an evil LMD and the Magic Demon Book. Now looking back it does make the fact that the second he had free will again, despite that other manipulated life where he was dedicated to Ophelia, it was still Jemma.

Oh and Jemma did choose Fitz over Will, when the sandstorm hit. She continued to go to Fitz and left Will....she would have never left Fitz in a sandstorm with the evil monster lurking about.

That all being said sometimes crap just has to happen to move the story ahead and there is always a price to pay for the good. I do think the Framework went too far but at the same time the writers were making a bit of a political statement there and they saw how good Iain was with evil bad guy.

Shippping Fitzsimmons is a lot like a Marathon and you are about to the “What on earth have I done to myself,” point of the race. But I promise the feeling of crossing that finish line at the end can’t be beat.
