The inherent 1D problem is that when they said Louis was the leader it wasn’t because people outside the band, in management wanted him to be or the perception amongst the fans, it was that it should be him because he was the most talented. It was just because he naturally was. It is the reason that the moves that Louis invented which were natural to him are still emulated by the people in his band. Like that hip trust or the shaking of the booty. They had a charm to them when Louis did them, even though he did them all the time. Initially they wanted to dress like him because they thought he was cool, then the stylists took over but let’s face it, in their hearts, I am sure all of them still know without a stylist who is fashion forward so they may all wear bode clothes but you know they want to be a little like Louis deep down. Niall has seen how crazy fans went when Louis showed up in the tank top don’t tell me hasn’t. But it was a big deal because the Victorian man showed us his armpits. That was the big deal. That is the reason it works on Louis.

I do appreciate the things that Niall does off his own accord. Him playing the harmonica was cool. I would like Niall infinitely better if he stopped putting his hand around his cheeks and stopped playing a cutesy toddler for the galleries.

Liam is the same, we know that he will post la de da posts on his insta about Harry because he needs to make good with the Harries, he has still not figured out that the only reason Harries like Harry is because he is successful and unless Liam is successful, Harries will constantly beat up on him but at the end of the day whenever he is being genuine even if he is being genuine bad, he ends up acknowledging that Louis was someone he would grudgingly accept guidance and leadership from (even if it was behind the scenes).

We don’t even need to talk about the need that Harry still seems to have for Louis’ approval. He didn’t just randomly pick Danny Zuko.

As Louis said, some people try to be and some people just are.

Would you know why Nick was allowed to post a lot of pics of IDOY ( I counted nearly 40 considering around 4 posts and 10 pics each) but could hardly post of rwrb? I assumed since both are under Amazon they'd have the same restrictions but perhaps not ( though I don't understand where the difference lies) .. he said he can't post pics of him in costume but I don't think any of the IDOY pics he's posted during filming were in costume either .. they were all random cast and crew pics out of costume (maybe some of the tattoos).. so I was wondering why it was different for rwrb

I... don't know. I mean when thinking on how to answer this I was trying to make some educated guess, but I realized I was running into walls.

I get why Amazon/Prime would put so much effort on the press and promo for TIOY: you got it being a book adaptation, you got the star power with Nick and Anne (and 1D/Harry Styles to a certain extent), you got the tried and true formula of a heterosexual rom-com, you got the trope of an older woman with a younger man that's certain going to attract a certain big demographic, so at least on the surface, it's a winning formula, so they went out with the promo, including Nick posting about it. I think a little more about it might be the costume: Hayes, as a celebrity, wears essentially want Nick already wears, it's not that distinct, as opposed to Henry who's a freaking prince.

But my question is I have no freaking idea how Amazon/Prime view RWRB. You would think they would hold it in high regard, somewhat equally to TIOY. And look at what they did for marketing, with the book quest, premieres, karaoke bus, fan screening, character Instagrams and stuff. You can say that yeah, they did see it as an important project, and did a lot with marketing/promotion (or at least what they could do with the strike going on) to hype it up more.

But then we come to the question of production: As much as I love it and as much as it's minor, there are some meh green screens (see all the new reports and the DNC, heck in the DNC wide shot, it's literally just models, the "Alex" figure is still), and Matthew was told it was overperforming, meaning the expectations weren't that high. I tried to search for the exact number for the budget of the movie, but couldn't, and realized that streaming media doesn't calculate profit the way theatre releases do because there's no "box office".

I think I went off a tangent? Anyways, back to your question, why couldn't Nick post RWRB photos? Well, if we say that RWRB was seen as an important project, then my best guess is that by keeping set and behind-the-scenes and costumed photos secret, they can build up hype by keeping the audience hooked, willing to wait and check for updates to see more. My other guess is that they wanted to use some of the photos Nick took as promotional material themselves: if you look at the photos posted on the official rwrb Instagram page around September to October, there are a lot of behind-the-scenes/set photos, that wouldn't look to out of place if it was in one of the cast member's phone gallery. The selfie of Nick/Henry with Taylor's atrocious plastic yellow sunglasses was definitely from Nick's phone. I briefly thought on the negative side if they didn't care about rwrb, maybe they just didn't give a damn or something, but upon further inspection that doesn't make sense. Even if they underestimate the movie, it doesn't make sense for them to hoard photos. (which is also why I cannot for the life of me understand why their hoarding the deleted scenes when there are clearly so many)

...so apparently I can't answer a question without it turning into an essay WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME

I always find it both irritating and kind of amazing that louis' image seems to work for some people. The idea that this flamboyant theater kid has fooled so many people makes me giggle because this rough, laddy boy image has been his greatest part ever. This is a boy who openly describes himself as soft and flamboyant in 2012, and while he doesn't do it openly anymore all we have to do is see him drunk and the flamboyance comes back, in his reactions, his gesturing and dancing. The softness we see as well, all the time. From how he interacts with his family and any young fans, even conchobar. To his love of flowers and making floral arrangements which we have seen in interviews in like 2017 for loose women and when fans give him daffodils, which we know are his favorite.

While I know images are meant to work effectively make people see louis as a laddy boy but he's been cracking it since it's installment. He was cracking the facade during 1D and continously does so.

I also remember his love for interior design too where Harry in the same house as louis 2017 or 2018 loose women interview basically stated that he didn't design the interior but it was his house, my inferences being it was louis. I also remember older Larry moments and receipts talking about louis and Harry going to private museum/gallery showings and buying boxes at theater showings but those are from wayback.

Louis image has been pretty good in hiding him but it was cracked long ago and keeps being cracked. We don't really know what he's up to on breaks, he's gone with the wind and we only see him in pubs when we are supposed to see him.

I love you, anon! Hard same! I don't understand how they're fooled either, but maybe they don't know the more carefree, less restricted and to me at least more real Louis we got to see in the earlier 1d years? This dude used to make the other 1d boys wait while he got pedicures. He follows a handfull of interior design igs. He used to buy Harry art for his birthdays or Christmas. He's into vintage, we knew that before, but now we only get to see it through his clothing. He's so much more than his image and yes it's irritating when you see fans or others buying into it, or even worse when you see people liking his current image. Couldn’t be me.

That one message from the anon really does remind me of a cult, it‘s insane and i hope they can get out of that toxic friendgroup. I gotta say how i got into harry tho. I was not a fan of 1d at all like i don‘t think i even knew the lyrics to wmyb. Then i watched the carpool of them and i liked their songs and the banter in that video, mind you i saw the video during the hiatus. I got sugguested a lot of compilations on yt, watched those and with that you see comments and videos about larry. Lowkey believed it since i was young and stupid. Checked out nialls music(not too into it), checked out zayns (not into it) louis (a throw away) liam(laughable) and i adored harry‘s and then quickly realized that larry is bs. Like i followed so many ig acxounts and watched so many thing on yt cause it is so easy to fall into this. Thank god i wasn‘t on twitter at that time cause imo those are the most insane ones.

Very happy that you went in the right direction and became a Harrie.

Once you start getting to know how different their personalities are, it becomes very difficult to imagine Harry and Louis dating. Harry likes to read novels and has taught himself to speak Italian. He has friends all over the world of different nationalities. Louis has a parochial, bigoted mindset. His only friends are his Doncaster Day 1s and he barely knows where he is on tour. He eats Mcdonald's because 'it tastes the same wherever you are' whereas we see Harry out and about in local restaurants. Harry loves fashion, galleries, museums and the theatre - all of which are anathema to uncultured Louis. Louis is also fiercely jealous of Harry and thinks he deserves his career, and even that he'll get it one day.

I am sorry we shouldn’t be rude but each time any of these a things happen, I always question the mental acuity of the 1D/Larry fanbase. All of their comments are wow Harry is going to kiss James again, Lewis Capaldi when are you going to kiss the rest of the boys, Harry owned Olivia by kissing Nick whatever and being rude at the premiere of his movie that he was forced to be in. Harry totally showed the Brits by being all over Stanley Tucci when on stage instead of actually acknowledging the music that he was supposedly being rewarded for.

All the people involved play to the galleries. They seem to not know any other discourse. I am grateful when Louis refuses to acknowledge the tomfoolery. He may not be commercially successful and I will always hate his team but I am just thankful that the only things he obsesses about are the Euros or the new technology in the market that will revolutionise everything.

Fandoms are human swarms without morals or logic. The most amoral celebs and fans thrive in this environment.

The goal is not love or community or empathy or peace or saving the planet.

Every action is geared toward more popularity, translated to more stuff to sell, and greater wealth. It’s never about the art, always about materialism (Fearless 2.0).

Louis, as much as he rails against it, is also trapped in this celeb world of “the more you matter, the more stuff you should be able to sell.” The 1D boys have been trained to translate salability into self-worth, and they won’t ever escape it entirely.

But I’m very grateful that for Louis, there’s never any doubt that the art comes first. Art matters for Louis. It did when he was 18 and just learning about songwriting, it does now, and it always will. We can see the difference with his ex-bandmates and with other musicians in their age group. For people like Louis (and Taylor Swift), art will always come first, and so their art will always grow; every album will show curiosity, intelligence, exploration, and originality. It might not always be good or perfect, but it will be theirs and it will be original.

Artists can’t control what the audience will theorize. They can only control their art. In forty years, Larry Stylinson will be a shameful, insane chapter in fandom history, but the songs will still be here. Louis’ responsibility is to his discography.
