Lets Talk About The Perception Of Ren This Season.

Going to try say this as politely as possible, this season it just feels like some people are Infantilizing and really boiling down the relationships he holds with certain hermits to something that it's not + turning Ren into a one dimensional person and character.

I wanted to try address a couple things in this post regarding that; How the fanbase has been reacting to how hermits are treating him on camera mainly (Long Post, so it's under Keep Reading <3).

Regarding how the neighbourhood of ministries have been treating Ren;

They are all very close friends. and have been for up to 10 or so years. Please, for the love of everything holy watch old series like Foolcraft, Hermitcraft UHCs, the Renskall Podcast, older seasons of Hermitcraft etc. Hell, even watch my favourite VOD; Sea Of Thieves. You quickly learn the dynamic they have, and the fact they all go off on playful banter (and also re: British Humour/Love that Cleo and False have mentioned off-handedly in streams and videos before being typically brash and sarcastic. Also not to mention how Martyn is British; I'll get to that later though.) There's a really specific dynamic where Iskall, False and Stress are close friends with him and care about him deeply; and Ren has openly talked about how much the Hermits have helped him out during IRL struggles. The roles and performance they put on for the camera is not going to always reflect how they treat each other off camera, let alone show how much they all deeply care for one another. Cleo has outright mentioned how much they care about Ren on stream too even. A lot of hermits have mentioned how much they appreciate Ren, and have complimented him + said affirmations on stream.

Regarding hermits ribbing him/not playing along;

If something happened that was uncomfortable for Ren or Too Much, it would've been mentioned after and not included in anyone's POVs. Ren's whole kinda thing is being a Theatre Kid, his whole thing is being dramatic and taking up roles for the sake of creating fun storylines and contents for the other hermits to either play along with or turn into something else. If a hermit took it a way Ren wasn't happy with He Would Bring It Up To The Hermits Because They Are Adults And Communicate Amongst Each Other. Like I mentioned above, the banter is very much more part of british humour and culture/attitude, as well as their general dynamic going on.

I've even seen concerns of it being bullying, which is far from the case. I think a lot of us longer term viewers have a better grasp of how much they all care about each other and how deep the friendship goes.

The other concern I have is how like, the joke of him being a 'Wet Pathetic Dog' is kind of going a bit overboard to the point where it's the only defining factor people are mentioning about him? and that like, so much so it genuinely feels more like the fanbase is infantilizing him or making him out to be this damsel in distress who needs to be rescued. He's a grown adult man, who can more than easily speak up for himself and advocate for himself. Minimizing him down to this pathetic useless character who can't do anything is just rude and misses the point of the characters he tends to play when doing storylines. He tries his hardest to organize server events and include all the hermits in things, which is both great for content and a great show of how much the hermits are willing to go along with his ideas and either see where it plays out or evolve it further. Mind you there's always MULTIPLE if not ALL the hermits being willing to play along in these events!! from the mining event this season to the king Ren arc last season all the way to log fellas in season 4.

A really long overanlysis of minecraft servers.

This will be my only warning, this shit is really long.

I promised this to @ivi-prism 2 weeks ago (hi, i am Svetla) but university said no and then i feel my notes were incomplete so i have to do more research.

So let's talk about anarchism and capitalism. As a future political scientist, really bugs me how the fandom and some content creators (im looking at you techno) misinterpret both theories.

Yeah this will be a overanalysis about the political, social and economic system of two minecraft servers. Why? Cause i like analysis things like this and finally i can solved what is the system of hermitcraft and thats make me happy.

Things to consider:

First im not native english speaker and im lazy so im not often write or talk in english so my typos can make Doc really proud.

Second i don't watch Dsmp i only know things about the server by the animatics, the constant information wich pop up here on tumblr, the crossover fanfics and the tiny vods that youtube insist play when i have activate automatic reproduction.

Third i tried to simplified this much as i can because this analysis i maded talking with my friends (also political scientists) and a former professor, so it got quite technical while i was writing it.

And finally don't take this seriously, I'm not trying to insult anyone, I only started this because the hermitfandom started saying that hermitcraft was capitalist and then everyone started comparing the Dsmp with hermitcraft saying anarchism vs capitalism, that's why the dsmp entered into this analysis.

Guys, seriously chaos isn't anarchism and "sucefully economic" isn't capitalism, even paid with "money" (diamonds in this case) isnt necessary capitalism.

First, mini glossary:

I understand a server like a Society/State (country) with Mr Weber definition. In really vague words a State is anyone that has a territory and has legal control of violence (the laws, no the abuse of authority).

I understand the private property as the hermits bases and/or shops (i suppose only base in dsmp? Idk)

I understand the mass production as the farms and resources.

Capitalism is a economic, politic and social theory, wich it considers private property essential and tends to monopolize the resources 'cause this it also considered private property.

Anarchy means "without government" it has its origin in the Ancient Greece. And Anarchism theory is just a society free from any political authority, but respecting the liberties of the others.

A Failed State is which one lose control of the legal violence, and can't provide the peace, essential human rights and the basics for a normal lifestyle to its people.

I think thats all the bored shit (i hope so). Now the interesting shit.

Why hermitcraft isnt capitalist?

Short answer, their idea of private property is not the same as capitalism has.

Long answer, even if they have their own stuff, they had a really strong sense of community and dont really care if someone take things from them.

We can see this in the beginning of season when Iskall take some mini blocks from Etho and he didn't really care (yeah, iskall "paid" him, but later i will explain this) or the multiple times Grian "borrow" things from Iskall and Mumbo in season 6 or Scar in season 7, the team ZIT constantly take things from each other and i can go on and on with examples, but the point here is this couldn't happen if they had a capitalist society because this would break the "private" part of private property and mass production.

Basically their friendship made so strong their sense of community that they are basically inmune to capitalism, Uncle Marx would be proud of them (not really, but would be funny). So they are communist? Nope, communist don't believe in private property and the hermits does.

But you just said-? I said they dont has the SAME idea of private property as capitalism does. They still have their bases, farms and shops, but for them their private property isnt sacred like in a capitalism system would be.

They're respect each other things because they appreciated the effort and values the time the person puts on their buildings and not only because doesn't belongs to them (and obviously cause theyre frends, but shush, this is a overanalysis, the obvious things doesn't have place here) i mean even for the shenanigans they are really polite and try to cause the least damage possible not because is not of them but because they valued the person.

Basically the famous honor code of hermitcraft.

What about the economic system and the shopping district?

Lets talk about the elephant in the room.

If Hermitcraft isnt a capitalist system, why they have a economic system based in diamonds?

Well, despite the exchange based in money for resources or services is a principal characteristic of capitalism, it isnt exclusive of that theory.

The money is a social consensus, cause barter has becomes obsolete and gold isnt cheap or infinite to use as payment. And basically, this is why we use money on this days (if you want to know the history of money ask to your trusted historian or Wikipedia).

What does this remind us? Yep, diamonds and iou's are a consensus too. When the 1.16 came out some hermits tried to change to netherite as payment and didn't suit, so they ignored it and continued with their current payment system.

And as much as Mr Smith likes to say that this is how the free market (and his stupid invisible hand) works, capitalism needs the monopoly of resources and people who works to pay for those resources.

But in Hermitcraft nobody really controlled the resources, anyone can go and collect their materials or made a farm. They just decided don't do it and go and buy it, because they save the time to go and collect for themselves, in other words they paid for the time.

Various hermits say they saved so much time go and buy the materials instead to collect themself or trade with the villagers (cause theyre the worst and all of us know it) thats why the barge and lookie lookie at my bookie are so profitable.

The shopping district it wasn't a thing before season 4, i dont really sure how it worked before, because i started watch in season six and sadly i have a boring adult life to saw the old seasons, but i assume it works in the same way that the trades the hermits does between them to accord a discount or a collab, and speak directly with the interested hermit or directly take it and pays what's considered it was fair, like iskall did with etho.

Like i said all what's happen in hermitcraft is a consensus, even the shopping district.

So yeah, that isnt a thing that would happen in a capitalism system, probably you would be dead, because "how are you dare to entered to my property", or in the jail, "because thats not yours".

So, what is hermitcraft?

For the surprise from much of you, Hermitcraft has an anarchist system.

What?! But their server is so peaceful, they don't steal from each other, they doesn't griefing, hows that possible?!

Well, the anarchism isn't really a violent political theory, at least in its beginning, actually anarchism is one of the most peaceful theories i studied, thats why i dont really thing it will worked in our society, but work in a server of 24 friends. Its too idealist.

I don't really study all of the thoughts corrents of anarchism because they are a lot. But the one we are interested is one of original thought corrent, The Mutualism, this in contrast with their cousin Communism doesn't believes the private property was something bad and considered like one of the rights from the individual, but different as capitalism because like i said before it wasn't sacred and communal things will exist to help others to start or recover.

Proudhon, one of it intellectuals, considered not paid for the work of the other it was a form to violate their liberties and feel horrofied with Marx when he said we have to abolish the private property.

The mutualists believes that each person should possess a means of production, either individually or collectively, and the products obtained would be trade in the market for the amount equivalent of their work.

This sound familiar, isnt it? Hermitcraft works in this way.

The thing with anarchism is they don't believes in a government over the people. And the hermits doesn't have one, yeah there's Scar being the mayor, but he isnt have a power over the rest and only is in charge of the "cowmercial district" even aquatown isn't part of his jurisdiction, his function is more of organization, like when we put a friend in charge to organizing part of a roadtrip.

It's the same with Xisuma figure, we all put him in a position of the admin of hermitcraft, but the truth is he isnt the only one with admin commands (but apparently some or all of them losed their admin status, at least in one of the last tango's streams, he hasnt it anymore) and various hermits said that he is more like an ambassador of them in the legal things of the server.

The hermits take all of they decisions in group and in the majority of things all of them needs to be agreed with the decision or they simple doesn't do it. And this is a characteristic of the mutualism because for them anyone are over the other.

And if you aren't already bored at this point and you put attention to what i wrote of the concept of private property in the mutualism, you would see it is practically the way hermitcraft works. They make their bases and farms, recolect resources and sell what they don't will use, buy mostly to save time and paid for the price what they considered fair. Yeah i know sometimes they do some farm specifically for one shop, but this is more "yeah, this is my thing" (Tango and Iron; Ren and wood) or a division of activities "if you do that, i do this".

The perfect utopia.

What about the Dsmp?

If you do it to here, congratulations.

So what about the Dsmp, i entered here because i want to read of them and the only thing i read was about hermitcraft.

Well, the Dsmp only entered in the equation because much of you said they were an anarchist server, but i see it more like a "failed state" and when i was talked with an exprofessor he agreed with me.

I know the term of failed state is controversial and is almost obsolete, but is the best way to describe the server and stop said it is anarchist.

So why failed state and not an anarchist state? Because they have a government (or apparently multiples) a failed one, but is there, if it were an anarchist server wouldn't have one.

Usually the failed states are known for being violent and volatile places in which ones their governments can't provides the basics to their people to live, normally are places with ethnics conflicts, civil wars, authoritarian governments or states in wars. The most common examples are Haití, Somalia or Syria.

And i am sure you can see the similarities with the Dsmp, so yeah, theyre chaotic but not anarchist.

The wars ruined the stability from the server, have a multiple sides and a megalomaniac for admin, but the goverment still there and they are fighting for the power wich wouldn't happen if the server were anarchist because anarchism don't believe the power should be possess for someone.

The server simply is failed state wich struggles under a violent fight for power.

Poe gasped, jolted awake suddenly. It took several seconds for him to realize that he was no longer on the Finalizer, that he was no longer shackled to that table.  He spent so much time making sure you didn’t have panic attacks that he never dealt with his own trauma.  He couldn’t deal with his own trauma--you were more important.

Shifting on the tight little bunk, Poe looked down at you sleeping soundly next to him. For several months the base of operations for the Resistance had been an old Rebellion battle cruiser while they searched for a new base. Living on a cruiser was nothing new to Poe--he’d spent plenty of time on them when he was with the Republic Navy.  You on the other hand, you were not used to living in space and it was sparking an increase in your anxiety attacks. 

Simply put--there was no time for Poe to face his own demons.

“Commander Dameron?” his commlink chirped. 

Cursing, Poe shifted trying not to wake you and snatched the comm up. “Yeah?” he whispered, anxiously as he saw you stirring. Please go back to sleep--you haven’t slept well in weeks, he thought, waiting for the bridge to answer him. To his relief, you fell back to sleep. 

“General Organa needs you on the bridge, sir.”

Sighing, Poe rubbed a hand over his face and confirmed that he was on his way. He managed to sneak out of the bunk, get his boots on, without disturbing you--however, BB-8 wasn’t as easily fooled. He instantly woke up from his charging state when he detected movement. 

Poe hushed him as they hurried out of the tight quarters. When the droid questioned why he was attempting to sneak away, the pilot confessed, “I didn’t want to wake Y/N.”

BB-8 whistled, sadly. Even he had noticed your mood change since Crait. Poe normally would assure the droid that you were going to be fine but the pilot wasn’t sure any of them were going to be fine after what they’d just endured. He might only be a droid--but he was very much aware the nightmares that both you and Poe were having. He just wished he knew how to help.

Moving through the silent, tight corridors of the cruiser, Poe made it to the bridge. There was only a skeleton crew working so it was unnervingly quiet. Poe had never been one to actually enjoy silence. 

“Commander,” Leia called him over.

“What’s going on, General?” Poe asked, approaching her.

“We might have found a decent location for our new base.”

“That’s good news. Things are cramped around here.”

Leia looked at him seriously. “Poe, I need Black Squadron to go scope it out, make sure it will work for us.”

Poe swallowed, anxiously. This meant he would have to leave you for a few days, maybe several. He felt uneasy leaving you behind, especially since your panic attacks had increased. “Is it possible for Black Squadron to go without me?”

“You can’t hover over her forever, Poe.”

“I...I know...it’s just...the panic attacks have gotten real bad.”

The General sighed and nodded in understanding. She had noticed--and felt--that your panic attacks were getting worse. However, Leia needed Poe--the Resistance needed Poe. The young pilot might not realize it yet, but. she needed him to be the leader she knew he could be. “Poe,” she said, softly, “she’ll be fine.”

He glanced away from Leia, briefly, and when Poe looked back at her, she could see the conflict in his eyes. “I know she will be. I just feel...guilty... leaving her to deal with it on her own.”

Leia smiled, sadly. “Poe, how do you think she handled it before you came along? She dealt with it on her own. She has other friends here that can help her if she needs it. I need you right now, Poe. Can I count on you?”

Poe pursed his lips and ran a hand through his unruly curls. “Yes ma’am,” he replied, hoarsely. 

“You leave in the morning. Go get some rest.”

“Yes ma’am.”

If the older woman was concerned by Poe’s lack of conversation, she didn’t show it on her face as he turned to go. She wanted to tell him that everything was going to work out in the end and take all his worries away--but the truth was, she couldn’t. 

Poe, with BB-8 right behind him, headed back towards his small quarters knowing what was unspoken between himself and Leia. Truth was, Poe wasn’t sure even if she had said the words if he would have believed her. 

BB-8 whistled, moanful. Poe didn’t even have the strength to reach down and give the little droid some comforting head scratches. He went straight back to the bunk, finding you still fast asleep, and he pulled you into his arms.

You stirred, eyes opening to gaze up at him. “Everything okay?” you murmured, sleepily. 

No. “Fine,” he lied, as if he wasn’t worried about his next mission. “The General wants Black Squadron to go scope out a spot for a potential base in the morning.”

“That’s good, right?” you asked, snuggling closer to him. 

“Yeah. Means we can get off this cruiser,” he responded. 

“Good; I’m ready to leave here. I’ll miss you.”

“I’m gonna leave Bee with you.”

Shifting slightly, you gave him a puzzled look. “Why? Don’t you need him for your mission?”

Poe sighed and kissed the tip of your nose. “It’s just a scouting mission; I can take another droid.”

BB-8 beeped indigently. Even on simple scouting missions Poe and Black Squadron got into trouble.

“He’s not wrong you know,” you said, laughing softly.

“I would just feel better if he stayed with you,” the pilot argued.

“Does this have to do with my panic attacks?”

“Yes.”

“Poe, I’ll be fine. You’ve left me behind before--without Bee staying.”

Lazily his fingers slipped through your hair. It was true that he’d left you behind before, without leaving BB-8, he would just feel better this time if his droid stayed with you. “I just want to make sure you’re comfortable.”

It wasn’t that you didn’t appreciate the gesture--you just felt better when BB-8 went with him, as if Poe was somehow safer if the little droid was on the mission. “I’ll be okay,” you assured him. “Rey and Finn will be here with me.”

Poe didn’t feel any less guilty; Rey and Finn didn’t know how to calm you. I suppose she could make the argument that neither does Bee. He nuzzled his nose against your hair. “Are you sure you don’t want me to leave BeeBee?”

“Yes, I’m sure. He should go with you.”

“Hopefully I’m not gone too long.”

“Well,” you said, drifting off back to sleep, “with any luck we’ll have a new base when you return.”

“Yeah,” he agreed, wishing he could fall back to sleep with you, “with any luck.”

When you woke up the next morning you were not surprised to see that Poe was gone--and that he indeed left BB-8 behind.  You had expected him to do that, even if you had told him not too. The little droid wasn’t too thrilled about being left behind, but it had been Poe’s orders, so he stayed. 

It turned out incredibly helpful to have BB-8 around since you were busy fixing up some fighters the Resistance had recently come into possession of. You had to admit it was nice having the company--even though Rey, Rose, and Finn were all still on the cruiser, they all had their own work to complete and you very rarely saw them during the day.

Your panic attacks were held at bay while you were busy working and chatting with BB-8, it was at night, when you were laying in the bunk alone without Poe that the attacks reared their ugly head.

“I...I’m fine,” you told BB-8 two nights after Poe left. “Just...just a bad dream.”

BB-8 didn’t sound like he was convinced as he watched you desperately try to catch your breath. He offered to go find Rey or Finn. 

Shaking your head, you felt yourself beginning to calm down slightly as you worked your way through the breathing exercises that Poe would normally walk you through. “No. It’s...it’s late...I don’t want to...I don’t want to wake them.”

The small droid moaned and rolled closer to the bunk. You smiled at the simple gesture of comfort and almost instantly the panic passed. Maybe Poe leaving BB-8 with you had been a good idea after all. You reached down and gently pat the droid on his domed head. “Thanks Bee,” you whispered, laying back down and snuggling underneath the blankets. They smelled faintly like Poe which comforted you even more. 

You had just started to fall back to sleep when you felt the bed shift. Opening your eyes, you saw that BB-8 had somehow climbed onto the bed and was reseting at your feet. Smiling, you hugged your pillow and fell asleep.

Wanted to ask about beetlelyds, sorry, I thought it was technically cannon? Like in the old comics after the show ended she grew up and married him. Sorry I’m an old school fan and have no idea why this whole thing is such a big deal. Wasn’t the actor like 20 too? I’m sorry if I sound very dumb. I’m not used to this new tumblr.

first of all the biggest issue faced in the whole what is and is not canon debate is the fact that there are three (four if you count the limited comics run) publicized iterations of my media

i will go over each very briefly just kidding this is going to a long answer so i will spare the dashboard with a readmore

there is the movie which im sure you dont need me to explain the plot since youre an old school fan but basically the climax is that yes beetlejuice does go for the marriage angle in exchange for stopping the exorcism of adam and barbara and his motive for this is so that he can cause as much chaos as he wants on the mortal coil but his plan is thwarted when barbara rides a sandworm into the house which promptly eats beetlejuice sending him to bureaucratic death limbo

the end of the movie features the deetz and the maitlands happily living together with lydia havign a new appreciation for her situation and beetlejuice gets his head made real small which is very funny haha 

so no in the movie they are not canon editors note the actress who played lydia winona ryder was a teenager while filming the movie she turned 17 the year it released 

the next is the cartoon which i will admit has the most grounds for being considered canon but in the end the show is about a middle schooler and her best friend who is a ghost which in itself is a pretty iffy gray area sort of thing but for a childrens cartoon to work a friendship is better than the obvious enemy status they held in the movie

anyway in the cartoon they are potrayed to be very close friends with lydia being the person beetlejuice cares about the most and honestly if you were to watch it with no prior knowledge of the media and if you ignored their massive and obvious age difference than yeah you probably would read it as a romantic relationship 

however lydia is a middle schooler and that is simply immoral

there have been writers for the cartoon who have been credited to say that a relationship is what they were trying to invoke but for obvious reasons they couldnt exactly move forward with that angle with them establishing that lydia is a child in middle school and a fully grown adult man dating a child who is in middle school is immoral and also illegal in the united states and in canada 

this isnt a good argument for whether or not something is canon and i will tell you why with one simple name and that is luke weber

if you dont know who luke weber is he was a storyboard artist on the cartoon steven universe he is known for making a lot of self ship artwork of him and the character pearl

he worked on the show isnt his material canon no of course it isnt it wasnt put in the actual publication and also if memory serves he was eventually asked to leave the project after he drew art of the shows creator giving him permission to date pearl and calling them her otp and a lot of fans hated this because the most generally accepted interpretation of pearls character is that she is sapphic so a lot of people took issue however that again is just a widely perceived headcanon it is never stated what her actual sexuality is no one in that show is because it isnt a show about that its about wait im getting off topic sorry

what im saying is what can truly be considered canon is what you see on the screen and with the cartoon they are definitely the most friendly with each other and that is why so many people in the beetlebabe shipping community take so much stock in the cartoon because it is the easiest to read the relationship between the mas romantic although that is not what the show actually provides in black and white terms

interpretation does not equal canon and in this case no matter what anyone says the fact remains that in the cartoon itself they are friends good friends yes but friends all the same

it is definitely not a show about a grown man grooming an adult and if it were you definitely shouldn’t be stanning it the extreme because grooming a minor is wrong and it is apparently a problem in the fandom

anyway if the cartoon and the movie are both products of their time and there was more leniency on content bear in mind this was the same era as notorious animation powerhouse and known predator john k who was a showrunner on ren and stimpy and he maintained a relationship with a teenager which was an open secret that nobody really took issue with because in that time being a woman in the animation industry was tricky business and your career could be ended easily if you rejected advances luckily time has moved forward and the animation industry although still full of problems of a similar nature at least people are getting called out and punished for it

you can look more into that yourself its really upsetting though

as for comics i havent been able to find good scans of them and im not willing to purchase them but in my search i never found anything about the two of them ever being married in the cartoon again because she is a child i did find a cover where he appears to be getting married and hes asking lydia to get him out of it but im not sure where the comic actually goes all i know is she is standing off to the side shrugging and looking like she doesnt really care

anyway that brings us to the musical which is set in the modern day 

in the original libretto lydia is described as thirteen but since they got an actress who was older in the updated librettos she is listed as 15 and the story is pretty similar to the movie the young girl befriends ghosts and they try to scare her family out etc etc

the major difference between the film and the musical are that lydia and beetlejuice are more like friends like in the cartoon 

she summons him to help scare after the maitlands attempt doesnt really work so he shows up and they have fun terrorizing people together however she drops him for the opportunity to perhaps get her mom back but when no one will help she goes back to beetlejuice who tricks her into almost exorcising barbara

she agrees to marry him in order to stop the exorcism and he only wants to get married so he can be alive again and cause problems on the mortal coil like in the movie in the musical he states several times its a green card thing whihc obviously doesnt make it okay but still

anyway lydia tricks him and runs off into the underworld before the wedding can happen blah blah blah she goes back blah blah and she agrees to go through with the wedding to save her friends and family with a plan to make him go away for good

theres a very tongue and cheek song called creepy old guy which points out how wrong the whole thing is but everyone is going along with it in a very comedic matter and it includes the line 

i cant believe some cultures think this kind of things alright

basically saying yeah this is very very wrong anyway they do get married and beeltjeuice is alive for like 6 seconds before lydia stabs him to death with bad art and he dies thus nullifying the marriage because death do you part etc

so in the musical no at the end of the show they are not canon because he is dead their marriage is nullified and they go their separate ways

anyway sorry about that i just need to make it very clear that these three properties are all very distinct from each other and basically all three are indeed canon since they are publicized material and arguing the validity of which one is pointless editors note all actresses who played with the exception of dana steingold were minors for the majority of their runs as lydia with sophia ann caruso the originator of the role turning 18 during the run and dana being in her late twenties presley ryan however was a minor the whole time and still is one

tldr no they aren’t canon but to the credit of some people in this fandom their interpretation isnt too far of a stretch thanks to the era and some of the writers wishing to imply a relationship between an adult and a child

i also need to address how this is all a big deal and i suggest you take a peak through my discourse tag and check out @leedia‘s blog to see some of the more harmful things done by beetlebabe shippers

the beetlejuice fandom is home to many minors after the musical came out since musical fandom is vast and the ages of its members varies and normalizing pedophilia is harmful to them not to mention the people who have been effected by sexual harassment at the hands of adults

both sides have victims of csa but one side continues to perpetuate the cycle by showing time and time again that this behavior is normal and easily romanticized in the name of coping and literally anyone who has ever been to a good and credible therapist could tell you that posting cp even if it is simulated cp isnt a really good way to cope and you can get mad at me for saying that its totally fine but and im going to remove my character veil here for just a second as a csa survivor myself i think its harmful to not only myself but many others ok the veil is back down

tldr again there is a lot of bullying and harassment going on with both sides having their own issues but there is one side whos issues run a bit deeper in my humble opinion 

thank you for your question it allowed me to talk a lot you are welcome to discuss further with me in dms if you wish i honestly recommend giving the musical a listen because it is very fun and despite what some people say its very clever and if you get a chance to see a boot of it its visually stunning

one last note that i couldnt really fit in here but a large portion of the beetlebabes shipping community ignore the musical because it openly condemns the idea of beeltejuice and lydia having a relationship and a lot of the antis take issue with much of the writing and characterizations of the cartoon just a note that i think is important since were talking about canon

Natsuki: 

Okay but there will be a rubber duck, sorry i dont make the rules. Uses the watermelon bath bombs because they smell good and turn the water a nice shade of pink. Will probably make this more of a fun and relaxing time rather than sexy time. Also he's a big guy and sexy time in a bath tub gets a little crowded. You tried it once and it just ended in you guys laughing and the bathroom under water. Nowadays he just appreciates the bubbles surrounding you guys, the nice back massages, and piyo the rubber duck in between you two :') 

Tokiya: 

Not a huge fan of bath bombs but will use bath salts because "they're good for your skin and better than those chemicals in the bombs". Usually lavender or sandalwood scented to bring the ultimate relaxation. Will put candles around the bathtub and dim the lights so you two can enjoy it better. 10/10 will wash your hair for you and gives THE best scalp massages. This is the only time he truly gets with you to unwind and he will usually just have you lay against his chest and between his legs in the bathtub, enjoying the peace. Every once in a while, though, his hands start to caress your arms and his lips find your neck and that usually leads you out of the tub and into the bed ;3. 

Cecil: 

Used to hate baths but loves baths with you. THE biggest bath bomb lover. LOVES the bubbles and LOVES watching you guys drown in them. Prefers orange scented ones or even something more natural like Cedarwood. Just likes the orange/green water and the bubbles eating you up. Will blow bubbles at you and wash your body. Don't even think about cleaning yourself, youre his princess after all and he will give you the foot massage of your life. Will shower you in kisses and compliments. Lazy kisses and soft touches.

Ren: 

Much like Tokiya, he loves bath salts.  Not much of a bubble fan because it takes away from his view ;) but likes some floating around. Will go out and put rose petals in the water and light candles. Forces you to lay between his legs as he rubs your body in cucumber and aloe body wash (the best, literally) and tells you how gorgeous you are. Almost always will lead to sex ;3 doesnt care that the bathroom is under water afterwards. 

Otoya: 

Bubble lover #3. The more the merrier. Uses strawberry scented stuff on his lover because it smells sooooo good. Washes your hair and asks you to wash his. LOVES your hands running through his hair and tries to give you the same attention. Sometimes starts kissing you and things get a little heated. He gets embarrassed and usually stops, but sometimes you can convince him for some sexy bubble time with a few neck kisses ;3.

Syo: 

Has a water fight with you. Literally throws bubbles your way and dunks you underwater. Likes the ones that arent really scented but give the water a weird color like purple or turquoise. Washes your hair with coconut shampoo and gives you a cucumber facemask along with himself. Just loves relaxing and talking with you about his day; not really into sexy times. 

Masato: 

Blushes every time you bath together. Still not used to it and makes sure there's lots of bubbles even though he's not a huge fan of them. Less touching from him and more from you. Likes lavender body wash and coconut shampoo so that's what you use on him. Used to be so tense every time you touched in the water but slowly got used to it and now enjoys the mini massages you give him. Will return the favor but will blush the whole time. No sexy time here either; he just feels like bathing is a way to get clean, not dirty. 

Reiji: 

Loves bath bombs that are nature scented. Especially pine. Is a dork with the bubbles and will most likely join the rubber duck squad with Natsuki. Loves facing you and have your legs entangled. Plays with your feet and pretends to eat your toes. Also has candles lit and the lights out. Sometimes his hands wander up your legs and end up teasing you a little. Almost always ends in a hot, steamy session ;). 

Ranmaru: 

Likes to lean against you instead of having you lean against him. It's so relaxing for him to just feel your soft skin against his back while you wash his hair with vanilla (!!!) Shampoo or run your hands over his chest. Doesnt like bath bombs but uses vanilla bath salts. Almost always bound to fall asleep in the tub with you but every once in a while he will caress your legs and get a little too close to your core and you start wandering your hands down his stomach and that's when the water is long forgotten ;3 

Camus: 

The king of extravagant baths. All his baths have flower petals and milk in them because theyre SO good for your skin. Candles and low lights. Also likes vanilla scented bath salts and has cotton candy body wash (I bet he does no cap). Likes to just sink into the water and close his eyes; honestly sometimes forgets youre in there with him. When he does realize you're still there though, he'll make you give him a back massage which he will totally give you back and ten times better than you ever could. Kisses your shoulder and tells you how beautiful you are. Sometimes leads to more, sometimes leaves it at that. No tub sex though because thats just messy. 

Ai: 

Usually doesnt take baths but ever since you brought it up, he loves to draw you two a bath and put a rose scented bathbomb in. Appreciates the bubbles and also how relaxed you look in it. Will wash your body with your favorite body wash and just talk about his day with you. Much like tokiya, this is a time to relax and spend some quality time together, not to have sex.

Great here’s one to combat jaune’s growing sadness and depression ruby and the others have decided to make jaune a “happy room” with the sole purpose to make jaune happy and smile but jaune being the sad boi he is doesn’t want to use it which leads to an awkward situation where the girls have to literally drag jaune there kicking and screaming thank you for reading this have an awesome day

The Happy Place

Jaune: Guys where are we going? And why do I need to be blindfolded?

Ruby: You’ll see soon enough. And no peeking otherwise that’ll ruin the surprise.

Nora: Alright here we are!

Jaune could hear one of them opening a door and then feels one of them pull him inside. Once he assumed was inside of the room Jaune heard the sound of the door being shut.

Ruby: Ok, now you can take the blindfold off!

Jaune does as instructed and takes off the blindfold with relative ease. When the darkness of the blindfold is removed his eyes begin to focus on the environment around him. When his vision is back to focus, he sees that it was not only Ruby and Nora in the room with him, but Ren, Oscar, Yang, Weiss, and Blake too.

Everyone: Surprise!

Ruby: What do you think?

Jaune: .....what am I supposed to be looking at here?

Nora: The room silly.

Jaune starts looking side to side and started to notice a certain amount of detail that had been put into this room. Specially things he sees are a stack of comics, a gaming setup, various action figures, various posters, and even a bubble chair. This room looked like an ideal place for a young man to relax in. Which begs the question.

Jaune: What’s this all about? I mean I get it’s a cool looking room but that doesn’t really explain what this surprise is about.

Weiss: *rubs face* Oh for the love of-Ruby, can you explain the purpose of this room to him please? I don’t wish to ruin the moment by playing 20 questions.

Ruby: Ok... Jaune, we’ve had this idea for awhile and now that it seems like we’ll be here for awhile, we all put some effort into making this room for you. *arms gestures to the entire room, even doing a little twirl*

Jaune: .....you all made this room...for me?

Ren: That’s correct. We know that we’re not used to being in one place for too long as of late so to help with this, we’ve put in the effort to making a room for you to relax in when you feel the need to wind down.

Yang: Or if you’re down in the dumps or stressed, you can come here and take your mind off of things.

Blake: Plus we’ve taken the liberty of placing some snacks you may like.

That said, Blake opens up a pantry that has various snacks (chips, cookies, and cereal boxes, etc.) Weiss also kneels down time open up a mini fridge with various types of drinks (bottled water, sodas, and juice, etc.)

Weiss: With refreshments.

Oscar: We’ve asked Ironwood to also add free CCT connection in here so that you can contact any of us in case you want any company. Basically what we decided to call this as-

Nora: Jaune’s Happy Room!

Ruby: So....what do think? *She and everyone gave big smiles*

Jaune: .....Wow. This is.....great! I mean wow, I can’t believe you guys...did this.

Once the door shut, Jaune could hear the footsteps of the others walking away from the door. When he could no longer hear the footsteps, he got up from his chair and looked around him and frowned. Without a another word Jaune went to the calendar and marked today’s date and wrote on the survey (writing down that he had been there for four hours) then dropped the pen. Jaune walks over to the door and opens the door then leaves.

Two Weeks Later...

Jaune is at the training room where he was training against a sparring drone, he had the drone set to the second highest difficulty and it was really bringing him to his limit.

Jaune: Ok. ‘breathe’ you git this Jaune! Alright let’s go! *charges at the drone* HAAA!

*BZZZZZT!*

Jaune: *Stops charging* Huh?

The drone returns to its default stance and powers down. Then the entire training room powers down and concluded the training session.

Jaune: What the heck?! Why did the simulation turned off! It’s not even 2:00 in the afternoon!

Ruby: ‘Ahem!’

Jaune turns around to look behind him and sees that Ruby along with Yang, Nora and Weiss. However they did not look to be in a good mood.

Jaune: Uh, hey girls...what’s up?

Weiss: Oh don’t you ‘what’s up’ us, not after what you’ve been doing!

Jaune: ...What have I been doing?

Yang: Ruby show him.

Ruby: Jaune Arc you have been recording false information on your time in the Happy Room. In fact you haven’t spent ANY time in the room!

Jaune: What are you talking about...I spend time there, Nora you’ve seen me go there!

Nora: I wanted to believe you. But you broke mah heart Jaune. You BROKE MAH HEART!

Jaune: Girls come on. Why would I lie about going into the room? Besides I have been in the room, maybe spent not as much time as you all may want but I have been there! And I use it, the entry proves it.

Ruby: Maybe...but there’s one flaw in your explanation.

Jaune: ...And that is?

Ruby: *Leans in* The gaming monitor keep track of the amount of time you’ve used it, all the comics are untouched, and ALL the snacks and drinks are all unopened.

Jaune: .....Ok fine! I haven’t been using the room, I’m sorry! I just-I feel like you guys are treating me like a kid! All the stuff in there is what a teenage boy would like!

Yang: Jaune we didn’t make that room to make fun of you, we did it because we care about you! Look...nobody wanted to say it but I’m saying it. You have a problem Jaune, and like or not all that depression and stress is going to hurt you in the long run. Our Dad went down this road and it didn’t do him any good by just ignoring the problem!

Ruby: Jaune please, we’re asking you as friends. Use the room, because we care about you!

Jaune: *sad face* .....Girls I....I’m sorry I didn’t know that it meant so much to you.

Nora: Well it does! So are you going to use the room now.

Jaune: Yes, yes, I’ll use the room now. I can’t guarantee that I will use it often but...I’ll try.

Weiss: That’s all we ask.

Two Days Later...

Nora: FEARLESS LEADER LET GO OF THE COLUMN!!

After not even attempting to go into the room, the girls and boys of RWBY and (J)NPR took it upon themselves to drag Jaune into the room and force him to spend time in the room. Which lead to the current situation of Jaune holding onto one of Atlas’s column beams for dear life.

Jaune: NO! I DON’T WANNA!

Weiss: JAUNE MILES ARC YOU ARE GOING INTO THAT ROOM! WHETHER YOU WANT TO OR NOT!

Jaune: NO!

Ren: JAUNE YOU’RE ACTING LIKE A CHILD!

Jaune: THEN LET ME GO!

Blake: THIS IS RIDICULOUS! IT’S JUST A ROOM JAUNE, IT’S NOT GOING TO KILL YOU!

Jaune: IT MIGHT AS WELL!

Ruby: VOMIT BOY IF YOU DONT LET GO THIS INSTANT YOU LOSE YOUR ‘THIGHS’ PRIVILEGES FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH!

Jaune: !!! *Lets go and drops to the ground* Oof!

Ruby: Now’s our chance guys! PULL!

Jaune: *Getting dragged away* NOOO!! YOU TRICKED ME!

Meanwhile...

Ironwood walks down a hallway with Winter, Penny, Qrow, and Clover in tow.

Ironwood: So how’s the progression of Amnity Tower doing?

Winter: The progression is promising but the resistance from Robyn Hill’s end is starting to catch on.

Clover: General, I can try to talk to her again sir if you want.

Ironwood: That won’t be necessary, once we finish the tower the public will know about its purpose and all will be well.

Qrow: Surprised you still have optimism when you’ve got almost everyone in the Atlesian Council wanting your figurative head.

Ironwood: I can assure you Qrow, everything I have invested in will bring promise and hope not only to Atlas but humanity as a whole.

Jaune: I DON’T WANNA GO TO THE HAPPY ROOM! DON’T TAKE ME THERE!

The group turns their heads down the left hall where they see RWBY and (J)NPR drag Jaune Arc down the corridor.

Jaune: YOU’RE KILLING ME I TELL YOU! YOU’RE KILLING ME!

Eventually the screaming leader leaves the line of sight of Ironwood’s group.

Winter: .....

Clover: .....

Penny: .....Oh what fun they must be having!

Qrow: It’s times like this that make me wish I didn’t toss away my flask.

Ironwood: ....Winter, remind me to check again EXACTLY what Miss Rose meant by investing in a...recreational environment for Mr. Arc.

Winter: Duly noted sir.....

its almost 2 am, i make poor life choices, and i just wrote a small ficlet based on @welsfight ‘s post about how ex eats and the weird theories that stemmed from it. i thought about putting the biggest part of it under the cut cause its like ~1800 words but i dont feel like it whoops

so without further ado, i present to you:

THE HERMITS AND THE MYSTERY OF HOW EVIL X EATS

It was a nice evening out, as they all sat around the campfire. Tango was sitting almost inside of it, roasting marshmallows for everyone that wanted them, and the others were just chatting with each other, about some of their projects and plans or simply about things that had happened.

Cub was looking pensively the whole time, as though he was trying to figure something out.

“Hey guys? Strange question, maybe, but… Do you ever wonder how Evil X eats, what with that helmet that never goes off?” The conversation around him dulled, multiple Hermits just staring at him for a moment.

“That… is a very good question,” said Zedaph as he jumped to his feet. He sensed there was a great game show in this, probably. “Ladiiiieeeeees and gentlemeeeeeen! Welcome to the first episode of How Do They Eat?! This time, we’re discussing Evil Xisuma!” A few of them chuckled, shifting in their places a little to be able to properly see Zedaph, who had just completely taken on his game show host persona, including putting a little desk of brightly coloured concrete in front of him.

There was only murmur for a moment, and then Bdubs stood up, dramatically clearing his throat.

“Well, I think he eats nutrient pills that he pops through a coin slot. So he can still have a balanced diet, you know?” As he spoke, Keralis’ eyes grew even larger than they already were.

“Slot machine? Did you say… Slot machine, Bubbles???” he said, not-so-sneakily looking around to see if Evil X was around somewhere. Iskall just laughed, and Bdubs looked at Keralis with judgment in his eyes.

“No, no, you can’t play slot machines on Evil X, he puts a cork in the coin slot when he isn’t using it.”

Keralis wanted to go against it, but Zedaph was quicker and louder.

“That’s an interesting theory you got there! But… Are there others? Surely you must have wondered before how he eats. Come, don’t be afraid to speak up!”

Doc immediately raised his hand, then stood up to speak.

“Guys. It’s obviously a teleportation ray. He just points at food, and it reappears in his mouth or stomach, depending on how lazy he’s feeling. It’s the simplest scientific explanation.”

“That’s a load of bullshit, Doc. It implies that he needs to eat, and we all know he’s secretly a robot. He just hasn’t shown it yet, right, guys?” Biffa interjected before anyone else could speak. There was some muttering about it, until Zedaph once more took over.

“Biffa, I appreciate the input, I really do – yes, yours too, Doc, don’t worry – but for the sake of the game, let’s assume he eats.”

“But what if he doesn’t? What if… What if he’s immortal! Immortals don’t eat, right?” Keralis butted in enthusiastically.

“Well, then we wouldn’t be playing this game, right? So! Theories! I personally think he can just remove a panel of his helmet, and then sucks it in like a vacuum cleaner. Or like Kirby, that might be closer to reality. They are both red, after all.”

“Kirby’s pink, Zed.”

“I don’t care, Tango, I haven’t heard you name a better theory.”

All eyes in the circle were suddenly aimed at Tango, who almost dropped a batch of marshmallows into the fire.

“Uh…. I uh… Maybe his helmet is just fused to his face? So like, it opens up when his mouth opens?” He sounded a tad unsure of himself, having to think up a theory on the spot. Still better than kirbying, though. Stress immediately started bouncing up and down on the ground, her hand raised high into the sky.

“Oh, oh! What if the glass part of his helmet just opens, so he can drop the food in?”

“Or the top. It could also be the top of his helmet that opens, like a fishbowl,” interjected TFC’s gruff voice. He sounded amused, though. Very much so.

“Wouldn’t that just create a very big mess? For all we know the bottom half can just open up separately from the rest, so he can just eat more or less normally,” Wels shrugged, looking over at Zedaph once more.

“Those are all very valid theories. A bit boring, though, and plain! There’s more points to be got with creative theories!” He was smiling widely, looking around at the others. Then he pointed at Iskall. “You! Iskall! What is your super mega awesome theory of doom?”

The swede looked bewildered, and thought for a moment. Then they could almost literally see a redstone lamp going on above his head.

“An airlock! Like in spacecrafts! That’s why the bit in front of his mouth sticks out a little, it’s so that food can first get surrounded by the Right Kind of air before it gets to him!” He was beaming, thinking his theory was the most clever one out there. Until Mumbo spoke up.

“Uhm… Iskall? How would he get the food from that airlock into his mouth?”

“I don’t know, maybe he just like… tilts his head backwards and hopes for the best?” Around him, various Hermits were laughing. The mental image of spooky, scary Evil X desperately trying to make a cookie fall into his mouth and failing horribly just did that to someone.

“Oh! If we continue in that vein a little… You know how items sometimes just kind of clip through walls? What if that’s how he gets food inside of his helmet? By having it just clip through? Sometimes it would just get stuck, though, out of his reach,” Impulse mused, smiling widely.

“Gosh, that would be soooo difficult to clean, though!” Stress sighed.

“Then he can just clip through some cleaning supplies as well, don’t worry about it.” Impulse chuckled, then stuck out his tongue at the face Stress made.

From the other side of the campfire, Jevin’s voice suddenly popped up.

“You know, I bet he eats enderpearls like eggs.”

The murmuring that had been present completely died down as he looked around, completely serious. Zedaph opened and closed his mouth a few times.

“That.. That wasn’t even the question, Jevin! Do you have any theories about how he eats instead?”

“Yeah… Yeah, I do. I think he just… He either boils them, and eats them with the crunchy scale, or maybe he just sticks a straw in to slurp up the insides. Evil X seems like someone that would do that.”

“ABOUT HOW HE EATS IN GENERAL, JEVIN, NOT ABOUT HOW HE EATS ENDERPEARLS!” Zedaph sighed, then shook his head and facepalmed. “Anyone else. Literally anyone. Please.”

Python mumbled something in response, too quiet for even the people around him to hear properly.

“Could you repeat that a bit louder, please?” Zedaph asked, and Python looked him straight in the eyes.

“… maybe he vores?”

“No. Nope. Cursed theory right there, ladies and gents. Python, please go sit with Jevin to think about your sins, and maybe you won’t go in the dunk tank.” He pointed over to were the grinning slime man was sitting, and Python stood up with a shrug, faking disappointment and fear for the dunk tank. Then Mumbo raised his hand.

“Okay, so, what if his helmet functions the same as Darth Vader’s mask? What if there’s just some kind of mechanical cheese grater that he can just put food through, so it can go through his helmet and into his mouth without too much trouble?” A bit of muttering sounded here and there, once again with sounds from Stress about how horrible that would be to get clean.

“What if… What if he just like… Photosynthesizes, man… like a flower, getting nutrients from the sunlight and from putting his feet in the dirt… how nice would that be, man...” Ren said, his drawl slow and relaxed.

“Ren, I think you had too many of those mushrooms, your Renbob is showing. Though, I think it’s quite obvious. He just uses a feeding tube to get his food in, or perhaps a straw and blendered food. It could simply go through a small hole in the helmet.” Scar then popped a few unroasted marshmallows into his mouth before continuing. “That way, there’s no mess at all.”

And E. What would this actually accomplish? No one besides people with murderboners towards Jaune suggests this change and they are so fringe they wouldn’t be a viable target to get emotional about. This isn’t a fix to the show, this is a demand for pandering to yourself. “Be nice, Shin-chan,” Takao said, patting his partner on the shoulder. Quickly, he turned his gaze to you, meeting your eyes; since you were friends with Midorima, you naturally grew extremely close to Takao, who seems to know you more than you know yourself. Once he made eye contact with you, he knew exactly what you wanted to talk to him about (after all, you talked about Midorima to him all the time-and you were surprised that he was able to keep him mouth shut). “I’m sure (N/N)-chan has something important to tell you.”

Midorima turned to look at you and your (e/c) eyes made contact with his. “Well?”

“I’m going to order some food, I’ll be back,” Takao said, getting up from the table; the conversation that you were about to have with him was meant to be private. However, Takao couldn’t help but feel that this talk will end badly.

You let out a sigh and decided that it was now or never. “I’m falling in love with you, Midorima Shintarou,” you said, “I want to be more than just a friend-”

“I’m going to stop you right there,” he said, cutting you off, “I’ve never thought of you as a potential girlfriend, nanodayo. If anything, you’re more of an acquaintance.”

Looking from Midorima, your eyes switched to Takao, only to quickly go back to Midorima. “Then we can’t be friends or...whatever we are anymore...because I don’t want to watch you fall in love with someone else.” You quickly got up and left, leaving behind a baffled Midorima.

“I take it the conversation didn’t go too well?” Takao asked, returning to the table with a tray of food.

“I thought it went fine, nanodayo,” he replied, pushing his glasses further up his face, “Not in her case-not that I care.”

Takao let out a sigh, taking a bite out of his french fries. You’re an idiot, Shin-chan.

Akashi

(Bokushi no longer exists)

Location: Starbucks

“Thanks for taking time to meet up after your practice, Akashi,” you say as you saw him approach the table you were at.

“I don’t have long, but you’re my friend, so I can squeeze you in.”

You couldn’t help but let out a chuckle at his statement. Ever since Rakuzan’s loss to Seirin last year, and Vorpal Swords win as well, based on what you were told by Kuroko, Akashi had returned back to his old, apparently kinder self. He no longer had that harsh aura around him, and seemed to be more approachable (yet he still had his authoritative state of mind-yet it was not as harsh as it used to be).

It’s now or never, you thought as you took a deep breath. “Akashi-”

“I already know what you’re going to say,” Akashi said, as he cut you off, looking you straight in the eyes.

“W-what?”

“You invited me here to confess to me, correct?”

You were speechless; You couldn’t believe that he read you so easily; but then again, it was Akashi, but still, you thought you hid your feelings well-guess you hadn’t.

“I understand that we’ve known each other for a while and we’re friends, but I’ve never seen you as a potential girlfriend,” he said, quick and to the point, “I’ve only considered you as a friend, or a close friend, but nothing more. I'm sorry, but we could still be friends right?.”

Looking into Akashi’s eyes, you could tell that he was being sincere, yet, it still hurt.  You do want to still be friends with him, but yet, you couldn’t. “I’m sorry, Akashi, but we can’t be friends anymore,” you start as you stood up, “Because I don’t want to watch you fall in love with someone else.” You looked at him one last time, both of your eyes connecting. “I’m sorry.” And with those final words, you quickly left, leaving the redhead behind.

Once you made your way back home, you bolted straight to your room, completely ignoring your parents who greeted you; they knew how you felt about your friend, so they figured they would leave you alone, and talk to you later.

Slamming the door shut, you pressed your back against it, slowly sliding down until you reached the floor. Bringing your knees to your chest, you buried your face in your arms and let the tears you were fighting to come down.

Every manga, tv show and fanfiction that you have read and seen that dealt with this situation, always ended in happy endings; the guy friend would return the feelings for the heroine, and they would live happily together. Yet in your case, it was the opposite.

You knew the difference between fantasy and reality, yet you were hoping that this particular fantasy would have had the happy ending that you were looking for.

Guess there’s no such thing as happily ever after, you thought, as you let your sobs echo through the room.

Kuroko/Kagami

Location: Seirin Gym

“Don’t break the hoop, Bakagami! We’re still a new school!”

“I’m not going to break it!” he shouted back, letting go of the rim and landing on the floor with a thud

“Kagami-kun, there's no need to yell,” Kuroko said, appearing out of nowhere, startling the taller teen.

“Still at it with the misdirection, huh?” he growled, getting annoyed with his shadow’s antics. “You’re going to end up giving someone a heart attack one of these days.”

“Don’t be ridiculous, Kagami-kun,” he replied, grabbing the ball and walking to the other side of the court, “Now, help me out.”

“Teme...don’t tell me what to do like-”

“Kagami! Leave Kuroko alone!” Riko yelled, “Don’t make me get the fan!”

Letting  out a ‘tch’, Kagami followed his shadow.

“You  know,” Kogani said, catching one of  Hyuuga’s rebounds, “It..doesn’t the gym seem too quiet?”

Everyone stopped what they were doing, thinking on what the male had said. He had a point; it really was quiet, especially since there were only two people yelling at Kagami instead of the usual three.

“Now that you mention it, it is quiet without (L/N) here.”

“She probably got weirded out by all of the puns,” Kogani said jokingly, resting his elbow on Izuki’s shoulder.

“Don’t be  ridiculous,” Izuki said with confidence, “There’s no way that’s the case; puns and dad jokes work every time.”

“Didn’t-no one uses any dad jokes except you, senpai” Furihata said, walking over to him.

“Well, dad ain’t right” Izuki said, “Kitacore”

“Can you like stop for once in your life?” Hyuuga groaned fighting the urge to chuck the basketball directly into the point guards face.

“Nope,” Izuki replied with a cheeky smile, as Nigou barked in agreement. “See? Even Nigou agrees with me.”.

“I’m so done with you.”

Riko turned to look at both Kuroko and Kagami, immediately picking up on how quiet they had become; what really gave it away was how they froze at the mention of your name.

“Oi, power duo,” she yelled, “Did something happen between you and (F/N)-chan?”

Kuroko

“”She confessed to me,” Kuroko said, “She said that she loves me-”

“EEHHH!?!”

“That’s so cute!” Riko said in excitement, “Just don’t let it get in the way with prac-”

“I said no,” he added, cutting Riko off. “I’ve never considered her to be a potential girlfriend, just a good friend.”

“You’re an idiot,” Kagami said, hitting Kuroko on top of his head, causing the shorter male to let out a pained yelp. “You should’ve said yes.”

“Kagami-kun, I don’t see how I could have,” he replied. “Because if things went wrong when we’re together, then our friendship will be truly over.”

“I don’t think that's the case with (F/N),” Izuki said, he's joking tone immediately switching to a more serious one. “I’ve lost count as to how many times (F/N) gets asked out in class; she always turns them down because they all don’t have the any of the three traits that she looks for in a guy.”

“And what would that be, Izuki-senpai?” he asked.

“Compassion and loyalty and dedication” he replied with a smile, “Kuroko has a lot of compassion and dedication; whether it be basketball or anything with Nigou, he has it-”

Kuroko slightly started to smile, until he heard the rest of Izuki’s sentence.

“-even though you rarely show it physically,” Izuki concluded, only to speak up again when he saw the partially dejected expression on Kuroko’s face, “However, you still show it somehow, and (F/N) seemed to have picked up on it.”

“How do you know this?” Hyuuga asked, “We’re in the same class, yet I’ve never noticed it.”

“Because she’s a childhood friend of mine,” Izuki said, stealing the ball from Hyuuga and making a basket, “She’s my neighbor. She tells me everything.” He turned to face Kuroko. “I’m going to say this as your senpai, and not as (F/N)’s friend. You’re missing out. And besides, we can all tell that you like her more than a friend-don’t deny it,” he added, as he saw Kuroko open his mouth, as if he was about to interject.

There was silence as Kuroko let the words that Izuki said sink in. He had noticed that things were quiet at practice these past few days, the sound of your voice yelling at Kagami was missed, your words of encouragement, even the sound of your laughter echoing throughout the gym; man did he miss it. Plus, he misses hanging out with you after school at Maji’s, at lunch, even just saying a quick ‘hi’ in between classes.

Izuki was right; he does love you.

“While you might be right, Izuki-senpai, I already hurt her feelings by rejecting her, so there’s really no chance that she’d accept my apology.”

Izuki shook his head, “You’re wrong. She’s a very forgiving person...sometimes a little bit too forgiving. But one thing I do know, is that she will definitely return your feelings; she hasn’t given up hope, but she’s still keeping her distance. She usually waits for me in the little garden right by the gate to the school so we can walk home together”

Kuroko’s  expression brightened up a bit, as one of his rare smiles spread across his face. “Thank you, Izuki-senpai.”

“I’ll let you go early, just this once,” Riko said,  noticing how Kuroko was starting to become very antsy

With a smile, Kuroko grabbed his things and bolted out of the gym, excited that you hadn’t given up hope.

“She...uh...confessed to me,” he said, rubbing the back of his head. “She said that she’s fallen in love with me.”

“EEHHH!?!”

“That’s so cute!” Riko said in excitement, “Just don’t let it get in the way with prac-”

Before Kagami could utter a response, he felt a jab in his side; Kuroko had elbowed him in the ribs again. “Damn it that hurt!” he growled, glaring hard at the teal haired male.

“Kagami-kun, you’re an idiot. You should’ve said yes.”

“How could I have?” he exclaimed, a little too loudly. “I’ve honestly never seen her as a girlfriend, just as a good friend.”

“I’m sorry, you rejected (F/N)-san?” Koganei said, in disbelief.

“What did you say to her exactly?”

Kagami froze, as he recalled what he said, instantly regretting it. “I told her, in addition to seeing her as a good friend, I also told her that she’s a good tutor as well-”

“That’s the worst thing to say to a girl!” Riko yelled, whacking Kagami with the paper fan.

“I panicked!” he defended, “but it was insensitive.”Also, I don’t see how I could’ve said ‘yes’. Because if we were to date, and we broke up, then our friendship would be completely destroyed and she would end up with Aomine.

“....What the hell does Aomine have to do with this?”

“Apparently, it’s a rival thing, Koganei-senpai.”

“I don’t think that's the case with (F/N),” Izuki said, he's joking tone immediately switching to a more serious one. “I’ve lost count as to how many times (F/N) gets asked out in class; she always turns them down because they all don’t have the any of the three traits that she looks for in a guy; and I know that Aomine especially doesn’t have it..”

“And what would that be, Izuki-senpai?” he asked.

“While stubborn guys are one of the traits she hates, which you have-don’t deny it,” Izuki started, noticing that Kagami was about to reply, “she has actually looked past that flaw in you. She actually values how determined, ambitious and headstrong you are. Plus, she’s noticed how much you have matured since last year.”

“And how do you know this?”

“Because she’s a childhood friend of mine,” Izuki said, stealing the ball from Hyuuga and making a basket, “She’s my neighbor. “I’m still in shock that (F/N)-san actually loves him. Out of all guys in this school, she chose him? I was expecting her to choose Izuki, since they always hang out together.

“Not a chance,” Izuki said, “I see her as a sister.” He looked at the door that Kagami just ran out of, “But if he hurts her, then I will not hold back-”

“Don’t kill him! We still need him, plus murder isn’t legal yet!”

Midorima

It had been a few months since Midorima had rejected your confession and you have been avoiding him like the plague; however, something seemed off. While you did talk a lot and get on his nerves (not as much as Takao does), he will admit that he found amusement and comfort in your presence; yet, now that you’re not around anymore, it felt...odd.

Actually, now that he thinks about it, it’s been too quiet, much more quiet than usual and he couldn’t figure out why that was-until it occurred to him; Takao wasn’t around.

That’s why it's so quiet, he thought as he exited the locker room, headed to the court for practice. He wasn’t too worried about Takao not coming in at the same time with him, since that energetic point guard loved basketball.

Opening the door to the gym, he wasn’t surprised when found the others practicing; however, what did surprise him was that Takao wasn’t on the court with them.

“It’s about time, Midorima!” the captain said, “Get your ass over here and start warming up.”

Nodding, he jogged over towards his team, and once he was there, he saw Takao talking to someone.

“Takao, we’ve got practice, let’s go, nanodayo.”

“Haii!” Takao said, turning around to face his team partner with a smile.

Once he turned around, Midorima’s eyes slightly widened; it turned out Takao had been talking to you. When your eyes met his, he felt a lump in his throat, and his heart slightly beating faster.

“Have fun and play hard, Kazu,” you said with a smile, completely breaking eye contact with your former crush to face the point guard. “And don’t do anything stupid-”

“I won't,” he chuckled, as he walked away, grabbing the shooting guard by the arm and leading him to the court.

For some reason, when you walked away without acknowledging him, it hurt...not that he would ever tell anyone about it.

Few hours later

“Man, practice was tough,” Takao groaned, as he left the locker room with Midorima stretching his arms over his head.

“It wasn’t that bad, nanodayo,” he replied. “Otsubo’s were a bit harder.”

“Yea, but keep in mind, Yuja-senpai is Miyaji-senpai’s younger brother; so he most likely told his brother to make our training hell, since we’re the aces of our team!”

Midorima couldn’t help but slightly smile. “Guess that’s true,” he said as he looked down at the shorter male.He did however, find it strange that Takao hasn’t brought up going out to eat somewhere like he usually does.

Then again, these past few months....they haven’t really hung out much; despite how much detest Midorima shows against Takao, he still enjoyed his company-not that he’d ever tell him that.

Coming out of his thoughts, he saw Takao smiling as he looked down at his phone. “Are you looking at those BTS memes?” he asked, as he recalled how you had introduced both of them to that popular K-Pop band a year ago; you ended up turning Takao into a member of their fanbase.  

“No, I save those for class,” he says as he starts to reply to a text with a huge goofy grin on his face.

“Takao,” Midorima said, his tone of voice a bit harsher, “I know you,  and I know when you’re lying.”

“Fine,” Takao sighed, “It is BTS related, yet-” Takao paused, unsure of how to tell him the true meaning behind the text, since he didn’t want to hurt his friend’s feelings. “(N/N)-chan got BTS tickets, and she’s telling me about it.” His tone of voice changed into a slightly happier one.

“I see.” Midorima felt strange; he remembered the group chat that the three of you are in, and how whenever you were excited, you would text both of them, oftentimes, to the point where Takao got so riled up, that his phone would be blowing up with texts from the both of you (and it would even be at 3am when he’s trying to sleep).

“Yea, she’s really excited.”

Midorima heard the slight hesitation in Takao’s voice at his last statement. “What are you hiding, nanodayo?” he asked.

Sighing once again, the young point guard stopped and looked up at his friend. “You remember that day a few months ago, when we meet up with (F/N) at Maji Burger?”

Again, Midorima raised his eyebrow. Takao rarely calls you by your full first name; its usually a rendition of your name or just a weird nickname. “Of course I remember,” he said, pushing his glasses up on his nose. “What does she have to do with anything?”

“Well, we’re kinda...dating right now,” Takao said, rubbing the back of his head.

Midorima just stared at Takao, unsure of what to say, or how to feel. Should he feel happy? Sad? He was so confused and uncertain.

“Are you mad, Shin-chan?” Takao asked, bringing the male out of his thoughts.

“Why would I be mad? She and I were never dating-”

“I know, but, things have been awkward between you two and I don’t want that to get in the way of basketball-”

“It’s fine,” he said, trying his best to reassure the point guard, who just smiled in response. “So how long?”

“Just a little over a month,” he said, “That’s kinda why I haven’t asked to hang out as often as I used to. Hope you’re not mad.”

“Again, why would I be mad? If you’re happy with her, then why should it matter to me?”

Before Takao could respond, both males heard you shout his name. Turning to look around, they both saw you walking up to the two of them-mostly making eye contact with Takao the whole time. The moment you stood in front of them, you paused, as you made eye-contact with Midorima.

“Guess what, (N/N)-chan!” Takao started, trying to break the awkward tension between you and the shooting guard, “Shin-chan isn’t mad that we’re dating!”

You turned your head to look up at him, and turned your head back to face the green haired male. “Seriously?”

“Yea!”

“Oh thank god,” you said, letting out a sigh of relief, confusing both males in front of you.

“I don’t understand, I thought you hated me, not that I cared or anything,” Midorima said.

“Don’t get me wrong, I did hate you,” you started, “And I still kinda do, but then I realized that if you hadn’t shot me down, then I would’ve never ended up with Takao.”

“...Then why not tell me, not that I would care, nanodayo?”

“Because things were already awkward between us, soI begged Takao not to tell you because I didn’t want your partnership on the court to suffer.”

“We wouldn’t have suffered, nanodayo. I don’t know about him, but I know how to separate personal life outside of basketball life.”

“Rude-”

“He’s not wrong, Kazu,” you said, agreeing with the green haired male, “While I love talking basketball with you, it does get annoying after a while.”

“Why are you ganging up on me,” he pouted.

Giggling, you leaned up and kissed him on the cheek, instantly cheering him up.

While Takao might’ve cheered up from that simple action, Midorima couldn’t help but feel jealous. He shouldn’t be jealous at all, yet here he was. Why would a simple kiss on the cheek make him like this?

“Anyway, would you guys like to grab something to eat?” you suggested, startling both males.

“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Takao asked, afraid that if the three of you hung out, you would just end up falling for Midorima again.

With a mile you nodded, “Yes, I’m sure. Besides, I want to here what’s been happening in the life of one of my good friends.”

“But I tell you-”

“I want to hear if from, him, Kazu.” You turned to look at Midorima, “That’s alright with you, right?”

“Don’t care,” he replied, only to have his stomach growl. “....Fine.”

The three of you took off, Takao’s arm around your waist, towards Maji’s. During that walk, Midorima couldn’t help but ponder on the words that you had said earlier, in regards to him.

One of my good friends.

Hearing those words, even thinking about those words, made his heart sink; he felt his chest tighten.

Was this how you felt when he turned you down? Broken and upset.

Midorima took out his lucky item, which happened to be half a heart of a best friend keychain that his sister has. While the real symbolism is that when the hearts were conjoined, it would spell out “best friends”, in this situation, he felt that it was the opposite;his best friend (whom he would never admit to him in person) dating the girl that he shot down would end up making him regret it, and breaking his heart.

Oha Asa is messed up at times.

Akashi

“It’s been really quiet lately hasn’t?” Mibuchi asked, as he, Akashi, Hayama and Nebuya were walking towards the locker room.

“How so, Reo-nee?”

“In what way, Mibuchi-senpai?” Akashi said.

“At practice,” he replied, taking off his shirt and tossing it into his bag. “Usually there’s so much laughter and joy in the gym when (N/N)-chan was there.”

“Agreed; even though she wasn’t our manager, she made probably the best food I’ve ever had!” Nebuya exclaimed, a bit too loudly,

“That is true,” Hayama said, letting out a sigh as he thought about the food. “She was always there for our team.”

Mibuchi let out a soft gasp as he came to a realization. “She stopped coming after she invited you to Starbucks that one day,” he said.

“You went on a date?!” Hayama asked excitedly, “With (F/N)-chan?! So lucky!!”

“It wasn’t a date,” he said, immediately calming the snaggletooth male down, “She wanted to tell me something one on one, that's all it was; just two people getting coffee.” Akashi was really hoping that they would drop the subject of you, but of course, like the nosey seniors that they were, kept pestering him about it.

“Start from the beginning,” Reo said sitting on the bench, “What happened when you entered the place?”

“I don’t want to talk about it,” Akashi said, starting to get annoyed. “What goes on in my personal life doesn’t concer-”

“If it’s anything with (F/N)-chan, then it concerns all of us.”

“Especially since she was our unofficial manager,” Nebuya said, as his stomach growled.

“I said no.”

“Come on Akashi!” Hayama whined, as he rested his arm on Akashi’s shoulder, “You were so cold to us last year; this would be the least you could do for us.”

“No,” Akashi said more sternly, “And get off.” He could feel the anger starting to build up inside him.

“Then just tell me,” Reo said, “You know I won’t-”

“She fucking confessed that she loved me okay?!” Akashi snapped, startling everyone in the locker room; from the pestering, to the fact how angry he was at himself for probably being the reason why you stopped coming around, it was all too much.

The three Uncrowned Kings just stared at their captain.

“She loves you?” Reo said, breaking the silence in the room.

“Did you just curse!?”

“She does-or at least she did,” Akashi sighed. “ I turned her down.”

“Why would you do that?!” Reo exclaimed in shock and disgust, “You have no idea how lucky you would’ve been to date her!”

“I just never thought of her as a girlfriend, just a good friend. Besides, my father wouldn’t allow our relationship if he knew.”

“...Seriously, is anyone going to acknowledge that Akashi just cursed?!” Hayama reiterated, only to be ignored again.

“Screw what your father wants!” Reo said, snapping at the redhead, once again startling everyone in the room. “He doesn’t know anything about love. He pushes you to the point to be perfect at everything! That is not love!”

“Parental love and relationship love are completely different, Mibuchi-san.”

“Love is love, Sei-chan.”

“Then tell me,” Akashi growled, slightly more annoyed as he walked towards his senior, “If you know so damn much about ‘love’ like you say you do, then how do you know when it’s love? Hmm?”

Reo turned, looking down at his captain. “Love is making a choice every day,” he started, “We make the choice whether to love or not. Loving someone is an action; you have to choose to put your needs aside for their own. Sometimes it’ll be easy, and other times it’ll be hard. You made the action of becoming good friends with her-you chose to open up around her; no one forced you to do that.” Mibuchi placed a hand on Akashi’s shoulder, “So how do you know when it’s love? That’s the wrong question to ask, Sei-chan. You should be asking if you choose to love someone. If you find you do chose to love them, then good for you, if not, then it's your loss.”

Everyone was once again shocked, which seemed to be a common trend in the room. No one would have expected the flamboyant, shooting guard to be serious, and give actual useful advice.

“Adding to that,” Nebuya said, finally speaking up, “Another way, in addition to....whatever he just said, to know, is if you miss the person when you’re apart.”

“That too,” Reo said, nodding in agreement.

“You three should focus on studies and basketball, rather than focusing on what ‘love’ is,” Akashi said, grabbing his bag and leaving the room, really not wanting to deal with the peer pressure, “Rest up and I’ll see you tomorrow.”

The door slammed shut and Reo let out a sigh, “He might’ve changed from last year, but he’s still stubborn as ever.” Reo turned to look at the snaggletoothed male, who was quiet the whole time. “What do you have to say about this?”

“Hmm?” Hayama asked, “Sorry Reo-nee, but I was still in shock that Akashi cursed, that I kinda zoned out.”

Reaching into his locker, he grabbed a notebook and whacked him over the head with it.

Needing fresh air after what happened, Akashi decided to tell his driver to not pick him up. That whole conversation he had was pointless-yet he felt that he was the one at fault, since he was the one who snapped at their pestering. He’s Akashi Seijuro, he’s known to not let things get to him.....yet the topic of you...something about it got under his skin.

THe words of his seniors played through his head, as he couldn’t help but actually, consider the advice.

Loving someone is an action. You chose to be friends with her.

MIbuchi was right about one thing, he did choose to be friends with you, and he chose to just be friends with you. Akashi has never really had a true friend outside of the Kiseki no Sedai, so your friendship was indeed new to him (and apparently, he came to the realization that friendships with a female is completely different from ones with males).

He will admit that without you around, things have been different, and he has been more lonely; for once, basketball wasn’t enough for him. He wasn't sure why your absence from his life was affecting him this much; last year when he was...different, he grew used to it. Yet again, you were still there for him, even though he pushed you away.

He couldn’t help but remember the day he rejected you. Since he was the heir to one of the biggest companies in Japan, people would confess their love for him, all the time, just because he was rich; so he was never sure when a confession would’ve been an honest one.

Once again, Reo’s words echoed through his mind as he continued to think about it; you had chosen to be friends with him, you chose to still be friends with him through last year. You had chosen to fall in love with him.

So her love was actually genuine, he thought, as he let out a sigh, I fucked up big time. And that was when he realized the harsh truth; I do love her.

He was brought out of his thoughts when he saw the familiar shade of your hair, sitting on a park bench as you were looking at your phone; to him, it looked like you were expecting a text message.

Gathering up his courage  (which he didn’t know that he had lost), he walked over to approach you, to apologize. “Hello, (F/N),” he said, grabbing your attention as you looked up from your phone.

“Hello Akashi,” you replied. You saw that he had his sports bag over his shoulder, and was surprised that he was actually walking home instead of driving. “I take it you’re walking home today?” You didn’t like the silence that was between you two.

“Indeed. It is a nice day so I figured I’d walk home to enjoy the weather,” he lied, since he didn’t want you to know that he was actually walking to clear his mind of his thoughts about you. “Would you mind if I sat with you?”

You shrugged your shoulders in confirmation and with a small smile, he say next to you, making sure that there was a reasonable amount of distance between the two of you.

“I know you, Akashi,” you say, breaking the silence that was between you two, “What’s the real reason why you’re walking home?”

He inwardly chuckled; he knew there was a reason he was attracted to you, you were observant, which not a lot of people are. Yet, being put on the spot like this, made him nervous, and he never gets nervous. Was this how you felt when he rejected you?

“Guess you really do know me,” he chuckled, “I was hoping to talk to you.”

You purse your lips together; already getting an idea to where this was going to go-but it’s Akashi, so who knows what it could be. “About what?”

“I want to apologize, for what I did months ago,” he said, slightly being taken back as he saw you flinch a bit. “I’m sorry for how I rejected you, and I’ve been thinking that you would like to know the reason why.”

“But why now?” you ask, looking at him confused.

“Because I’m stupid and it took me awhile to realize the reason why I turned your confession down.” He paused to look at your reaction, to see whether or not he should continue; your expression didn’t change, so he decided to continue. “Because I wasn’t sure if your confession was genuine or not. I didn’t know if you were just confessing to me just because of who my father is, but I now realize that I was wrong. Love is a choice and you chose to love me, and I was stupid to turn it away. I’m sorry, and during that time, I realized that I actually do return your feelings. And I hope it's not too late for me to return your feelings. I never truly appreciated how much your friendship and companionship was to me, and I can’t go another day without you.”

You just stared at the male, trying to process what he said (and in partial shock that he had admitted that he was wrong). “I appreciate the apology Akashi, and I accept your apology. However, I have to apologize myself, for the romantic feelings I had for you are no longer apparent; I’ve moved on. But I will admit that I have missed spending time with you and being your friend.”

Akashi wasn’t surprised that your feelings had vanished, but he was surprised that, even after he hurt you, you wanted to still be friends with him.

Before he could respond, your phone went off, indicating that you had a text message. Looking at your phone, a smile appeared on your face, and you stood up. “My date’s here,” you say as you gather your things.

“Date?”

You nodded, “Yea, I’ve been seeing someone lately and things are looking serious,” you smiled. “You actually know him. He went to our school.”

Akashi froze, trying to analyze who it would be;  it wouldn’t be Nebuya, and it was definitely not Reo. There’s a possibility that it could be Hayama, since he was unusually quiet after practice, but you had used the verb ‘went to’.

“I hope that doesn’t affect the fact that I would like to rekindle our friendship.”

Before he could verbally respond, a familiar figure had approached the two of you, stopping right next to you.

“Long time no see, Akashi,” the person said, with an unreadable expression on his face.

“Likewise, Mayuzumi-san,” he replied, putting on a smile.  

“I hate to end our conversation here, but I will hopefully talk to you tomorrow, okay?” you said excitedly, “Because I would be happy to have my close friend back.”

Akashi flashed a sincere smile, “Of course,” he said, “I’d like that as well.”

Smiling, you grabbed Mayuzumi’s hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze (you knew how insecure he could be....even though he wasn’t aware that you knew). “That’s awesome!” you exclaimed with a smile, “I’ve missed hanging out with you and the other three. Ooh! Maybe the six of us could hang out one day!”

“It would have to be around both mine and Mayuzumi-san’s schedules,” Akashi said, “Plus, we have the WINter Cup coming around the corner too.”

“Mm, we’ll think of something-”

“As much as I like this mini reunion, we have to get going; the library will close in about an hour,” Mayuzumi said, starting to get uncomfortable with how casual you were with Akashi-since yesterday you couldn’t help but rant about him.

“See ya tomorrow Sei-chan!” you say, as you walk away with Mayuzumi.

Once out of sight, Akashi ran a hand through his hair; he braced himself for rejection, but he never expected for you to already be dating someone-especially one of his seniors.

With pain in his heart, he began to walk away.

I guess the saying is true; you never really know how much you love a person, until they love someone else

Before the end, I just want to apologize, that this took a completely different turn (probably slightly??) I'm also sorry about the angsty ending for Akashi and Midorima (kinda not sorry, but also sorry) - it’s just that from most of the angst that I read about Akashi usually end up happy....so I wanted to change that.

HOWEVER

If you guys want to see a happy version of Akashi and Midorima, as well as the continuation of the Kagami and Kuroko scenarios, shoot me an ask, and I’ll write them; I will say...probably need 6 asks. And here’s why his failures are worse than the other characters’.

My guess the list consists of:

Racism.

Sexism.

And projection.

It’s because jaune’s intended character was to be an audience surrogate. Like I alluded to in a different post, jaune seems to be there to insult the audience.

As I said:

“I want to kill Miles Luna.”

That’s all there is to it. I’ve long since learned you people are nowhere near as complex as I assume people to be.

Stan, it’s the first letter of the title. Be happy that this is fairly recent. I might hate jaune, but my appreciation for good grammar and punctuation exceeds my disdain for him… sorta. I don’t capitalize his name after other punctuation outside of the title.

The guy is an audience surrogate. Said audience surrogate cheated his way in the school because he wanted to be a hero. It wasn’t “So I could save people.” It wasn’t “So that I can travel the world and help people while doing that.” It wasn’t “So that I can try to help the oppressed.” It was “So that I could be a hero.” It makes me feel that the writers think the following:

A) That we, as the audience, aren’t good enough to make it into the school on our own ability.

And B) That we would want to join a prestigious school just to become a hero. Some of us would be more selfless than that.

He only wants the glory of being a hero. He doesn’t really want to actually do the heroic things that would make him a hero.

So jaune insults the audience through his actions and motivations. But since we’re ordinary people, surely the person representing us would have to face realistic consequences if we were to do the same actions as jaune, correct?

A. What Stanly would be saying here would be: “You preach Fiction is Reality, want to kill Jaune and cannot separate him from Miles Luna. You even refuse to capitalize his name like Jaune’ s AND we know what that means from you (http://dudeblade.tumblr.com/post/164274588366/dont-capitalize-donald-trumps-name). You’re fucked in the head. End of story.”

B. Jaune has outright said that his parents never had faith in him. Wouldn’t it be logical that they PREVENTED him from going to a Huntsmen school? ... I just broke your whole issue with Jaune didn’t I?

C. Jaune wanted to be a hero NOT for the glory of it but because he felt a desire to live up to his ancestors. No ambiguity, he DIRECTLY states this. And this is actually a very common motivation among people, a desire to live up to what their predecessors did out of a form of respect.

D. Jaune isn’t suppose to be a perfect reflection of the audience, he has his own character dumbass. It’s what he is generally, someone out of their depth but tries their damndest while still being clueless, is what is suppose to be the audience. And considering most of the audience has no combat training like Jaune: That’s pretty fucking accurate.

And E. This sounds more like you Dudeblade. You want the glory of a writer without actually IMPROVING as a writer. Me thinks you hate Jaune because he hits a bit close to home.

Or how about how jaune was apparently allowed to keep asking Weiss out despite her straightforward ‘no’ and how he wasn’t really portrayed as in the wrong for that.

Let me go ahead and replace Stanly here:

A. Stan: “So the audience should expect that no one will ever act like their friend and help them out so they should try to everything on their own...which is exactly what Jaune did and showed was a bad idea?”

B. Stan: “What about when Weiss goes and demands that Neptune be beaten up by team NDGO for flirting with them?”

Dudeblade: “... She’s a woman.”

Stan: “And that’s sexism.”

“Oh come one! That’s how all teenage guys act. Doesn’t mean- wait! Did you just say that he wasn’t portrayed as being in the wrong for that?”

Yes I did, Stanly. jaune was met with sympathy from other characters for Weiss’ rejection. Yang even said “Maybe next time.”

Yang also said that Weiss’ rejection of jaune was the reason why she was called ‘ice queen.’ Weiss has every right to reject jaune. And if a straightforward ‘no’ isn’t enough, then what is?

She slammed the door in his face for crying out loud!

Stan: “What about how Weiss went and assumed Jaune’s motives without actually talking to the guy? What if a guy just rejected a girl thinking she’s just a slut?”

Dudeblade: “...”

Stan: “You can’t answer that without being sexist can you?”

“Okay, but admittedly, the narrative does make that a funny scene at the expense of Jaune when Weiss slams the door in his face. That’s got to be worth something.”

Sure, but he deliberately lied when he was asked if he wasn’t going to ask her out again, and we’re just supposed to… let that slide?- The narrative didn’t seem all too eager to make jaune out to be the one in the wrong there. Instead, we’re supposed to sympathize with jaune, and feel bad that he got told ‘no.’

Stan: “That was a joke. By that same logic, Weiss is a Yandere who wants every guy she likes to be beaten up for showing interesting in other guys.”

Dudeblade: “A-”

Stan: “And even then, HE was the one who had to learn a lesson and humble himself! So even if he’s suppose to be sympathetic, he’s still in the wrong!”

Dudeblade: “...”

Stan: “You are really bad at this.”

“So the problem isn’t that he kept trying, it was the lack of the narrative saying that he was wrong for constantly trying?”

Yep. In fact, since jaune is supposed to be the audience surrogate, it could easily be interpreted by younger audiences that you can keep asking out a girl, and not face consequences. That’s harassment. Just because it wasn’t the intention, that doesn’t change the fact that that’s what it amounted to.

The fact that jaune doesn’t face consequences makes it hard to relate to him. In fact…

Stan: “... yeah, I already showed why that’s shit. Also: Cardin, Neptune, Cinder.”

“Oh no. Are you going back to that whole ‘he started the fight and got rewarded for charging in on his emotions while Yang got punished for doing the same when she wanted to save Blake but Jaune just wanted revenge’ rant again?”

……… Well thanks for stealing my thunder. So instead, I’m going to a different talking point.

The part where apparently he’s tired of ‘losing everything’ (Despite Ren, Nora, Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang losing far more) but then later, he’s willing to let Tyrian attack Ruby without so much as a scream of defiance.

Stan: “Hey Dudeblade, remember that remark about Taiyang being an Armchair critic? Well, isn’t quite the armchair critic thing to do to say what someone who has suffered in a war should and shouldn’t be doing?”

Dudeblade: “No-!”

Stan: “So which is it? Is Jaune right or is Taiyang right?”

Dudeblade: “...” *falls to the ground, gargling on his own bile*

Stan: “Yeah, saw that coming.”

“Wait… What are you talking about?”

The part where he looked away. This is a guy who charged a Nevermore weaponless to save Pyrrha back in volume 3, right? But he just… stands there. As if he’s waiting for Tyrain to take Ruby away from them. Then later he blames Qrow for everything  bad that happened. Which, while he is right, he didn’t seem to have a problem when Ozpin showed up a volume later, despite it Pyrrha’s death being more Ozpin’s fault than Qrow’s. jaune was right to be mad, but considering that he was being ungrateful towards Qrow when he literally was the one who save Ruby single-handedly (literally in that case), but when Ozpin shows up, he has… no grudge?

And the most scathing thing we see is the rest of the team giving him glares.

Stan: “Yeah-has it not occurred to you that Jaune knows he can’t go after Ozpin without hurting Oscar, an innocent? Or is this a fucked if Jaune does, fucked if Jaune doesn’t situation because you don’t actually care about what happens?”

Dudeblade: *still gargling on his bile*

Stan: “I’ll take that as a yes.”

“Maybe he was told off off-screen.”

That’s bad writing though. What’s the point of doing something on-screen if they’re going to face consequences off-screen? Resolving conflicts off-screen makes little sense because having the characters face consequences on-screen helps us to see them grow. And seeing them grow helps us connect with them more. Certainly much more than simply telling us that they’ve grown. If they were talking about a physical aspect, that would be one thing. But they literally had Ren just say that they grew in character. Which… pretty much erased all that growth. If you have to pretty much directly tell the audience that you’ve grown as a character, then you haven’t really grown at all.

Dudeblade: “Okay, I’m back. And I am gonna KI-”

Stan: “Storm Hawks did this too.”

Dudeblade: *goes back to gargling his bile*

Stan: “Also people have been noticing these changes for an entire Volume before Ren said it. Even so, You still haven’t debunked my previous argument so Jaune could still just not be involving an innocent person.”

“So, what does this have to with Jaune?”

Thanks for getting me back on track. The way this connects with jaune is that he hasn’t really grown at all. He’s still that hotheaded, entitled, whiny, consequence-free brat that we saw back in volume 1. He hasn’t grown, and that’s the problem. He keeps acting as if Pyrrha’s death mattered only to him, and that’s a problem. Ruby isn’t allowed to mourn because she has to keep it all in so that jaune can brood.

Stan: “... Jaune has stopped hitting on Weiss, Jaune WASN’T hotheaded in Vplumes 1-3, Jaune is more willing to call people out and HE EVEN FUCKING SAYS RUBY LOST PYRRHA TOO YOU IDIOT!”

“Didn’t you say that a big problem with Pyrrha is the lack of connections with other characters?- Wouldn’t it make sense for her loss to be only mourned by the only character she actually interacted with?”

Ruby saw her die though. Not only that, she also saw her kill Penny. Shouldn’t Ruby be having conflicting feelings for her? I mean… if Pyrrha’s death was what set off Ruby’s silver-eyes-machina, then shouldn’t that mean that she obviously has feelings and opinions about her death?- But no. Because it’s jaune that needs to brood, Ruby has to hold it all in.

jaune taking away character development from other characters makes it harder to connect with him, since he’s only ‘developing’ himself. He doesn’t develop Pyrrha, he doesn’t develop Ruby, he doesn’t develop Ren or Nora- he’s just a screentime black hole who alienate the audience by never facing consequences that the audience would realistically face.

Stan: “Yeah, We already know this is all bullshit. And Jaune has had LESS focus than fucking Illa. So bullshit.”

Wait… So why do people still project onto him?”

Because he’s a wish fulfillment character. He’s there to say that you can cheat your way into a school, and get an amazon to not only cover for you, but also get one to slobber over your dick. He’s there to tell the audience that you’ll get respect from a girl you kept asking out as long as you tell the person she wanted to take out to dance with her. He’s there to tell the audience that they can rush in based on their emotions to get revenge and never face consequences for it.

He’s just there to be a wish fulfillment character. And since his original creation was to make him the audience surrogate, that makes him a conflicting character. He is meant to be one thing, but ends up being another. Which is why he fails as a character. Both in his role, and as an actual realistic character.

Stan: “Yeah and guess what? He’s there to say that you will be mocked endlessly by everyone around you, always get rejected by the girl you like in the cruelest way possible even after you tried to SAVE HER LIFE, that women can be basically stalkerish but god forbid you ask someone out twice, that you’ll be beaten and tossed around like a ragdoll while earning the respect of none, that your feelings are secondary to everyone else’s, that no matter what you do nothing will EVER go right in your life. Real fucking great wish fulfillment.

But that just goes to show how fucking delusional you are, that you will outright DENY REALITY just to suit your wants and desires. You want to be racist/sexist/socipathic? Claim the white boy is a self insert so you can bash a man until he hates his job because he was born the wrong gender/skin tone.

what did you think of the last jedi?

Well for starters, i’m very pleased that this film was allowed to just be one artist’s vision. there were probably certain beats/ scenes that the powers that be demanded were included, but for the most part you can tell that this is one director/ writer’s story. i’ll talk about why that’s both a good and bad thing, but for starters i’ll say that i’m happy to see that major franchise films aren’t all being run by committee with 7 screen writers and a meddling studio making a lifeless but competent film that pleases the majority. because of this, the film is allowed to be really different from what came before. it’s trying out a lot of new things and that’s a good sign for the future of this franchise, which could potentially fall into a rut of retelling that same type of story over and over.

this is just my initial reaction after one viewing, but i do intend to see it again to get a better grasp of the film. so here’s just some overview thoughts. spoilers ahead.

rian johnson clearly had a story he wanted to tell going into this film and like i said, this is both good and bad. the passion is there but its only really channeled into certain plot lines which hold his interest, while the things he doesn’t really care about are left to struggle along with no real focus. i think the problem is that he is carrying on someone else’s story, so he rushes past plot lines he doesnt give a shit about that abrams set up and delves deep into the stuff he actually likes (the dude loves kylo ren, like, a whole lot). rey should be the focus of this film as she is the new main protagonist and yet somehow it feels like kylo’s film. while rey matures and grapples with her place in the universe, it really seems like a secondary process to how kylo develops. while i am all for a villain that we can finally get our teeth into and really work out how they tick, it feels like it shouldn’t come at the expense of developing all our heroes (plural, finn and poe suffer from this focus pull to). i just want to know why kylo turned to the dark side, not feel as though the camera asking you to sympathise with him, even side with him in his pov of the story w/ luke. kylo does turn full villain at the end but only after a lot of sob story bullshit and tension between rey that could so easily be construed as something tender and i dont want that at all. i haven’t forgotten the shit he pulled in tfa, rian, have you?  empathy=/= sympathy and i dont think johnson knows this, or at least, doesn’t want to.

i think there are some interesting, big ideas going on in this film that i really liked, like the idea of class, war profiteering, and that good vs evil aren’t the only sides, but i dont think they were all handled as best they could. a lot of it seemed a little heavy handed, boarding on ridiculous (some of the stuff w/ the dj character was suspiciously close to centrism tbh), but i appreciate that it was trying out new ideas that star wars has never touched on before. the main idea of the film was breaking down the old ways of doing things and i love that. tfa was about reaffirming those old ideals the original trilogy had and saying ‘hey dont worry, star wars is back’ and this film was all about saying ‘star wars is back but look what else we can do with it’.

i think the finn and rose story plot line struggled the most with this, as in, having good ideas but not very well executed. it didn’t feel like johnson partially cared about telling this story beyond the main themes of it, and it felt a little sloppy. the pacing was so jarring and none of it really landed for me. i get what they were doing with it and it could have been great if it delved in a little deeper and not had slightly cringey dialogue. i also wanted finn to have more to do and his character explored more. i mean, a turned storm trooper child solider is a whole wealth of character to explore but really all he did was learn that there were causes worth fighting and dying for. (also i dont like the new trio split up this much. poe should have accompanied them on this plot imo. we need that connection and friendship shown rather than just implied.)

as for the rebels’ plot line, i think i need to see it again to truly understand how i feel about it because a story about failure can be worthwhile and interesting but as i was watching it, i couldn’t help but think about just how much they were failing. did they get anything right? did they win at all? it felt like such a savage thrashing that i couldn’t just enjoy it. as for poe, it felt like they just didn’t know what to do with him so gave him a plot line in learning humility and that winning isn’t everything. i feel like someone who has come this far in the resistance would know this already but it’s fine as character development goes. as i said this is my opinion after only one viewing and i think i might enjoy this story more after a second.

i really can’t touch on luke bc i really have no idea how i feel about it. luke is my favourite star wars character, maybe one of my all time fave characters, and i cant get my head around the plot line they gave to him. on one hand i think it was an interesting choice and mark played it very well and that final scene was just incredible (apart from the end of it), but on the other hand that’s not my luke skywalker. he wouldn’t abandon his family and friends like that, no matter how disillusioned or ashamed he felt. so, yeah, i’m torn to say the least.

but to end on some positivity, this film looked great, i loved a lot of the visuals in it. rey w/ the endless reflections was incredible, the red room fight was amazing, i could spend hours looking at all the casino costume and character design, and poe looked hot a shit. i loved laura dern in this and i loved she had fucking purple hair and wore an evening gown while being the most badass general of the franchise aside for leia. leia was wonderful and my mind boggles at the idea ppl have a problem w/ her using the force. of course she can use the force and to that extent, she’s been using it since empire. she looked so graceful and posed throughout the whole thing and it was such a lovely send off. her scene w/ luke… ended me.

anyway, mark hamill said that star wars is about how you feel when you watch it, and well, i just didn’t feel that joy and elation while watching this film like i did w/ the originals and tfa. so yeah… mixed feelings but i’m mostly just ravenous for the next one now and to see where we go from here.

@hwangminyeo : I would probably ship Abby with Bae Jinyoung if it weren’t illegal ahahhahah because I see Abby as the glue who is capable of bringing everyone together. She was the one who reached out to me to invite me into the minbooties gc and I’m honestly so thankful because I’ve gotten to know 5 absolutely beautiful and entertaining mintrash that are able to make you feel so warm inside through just a few words over LINE that it’s unbelievable, and I’m so so thankful. She’s the type of person who is gentle, friendly, and patient enough to coax literally anyone out of their shell, and she always makes people feel included. She’s always feeding us well with Minhyun content bc she knows the Minbooties get hungry at all times of the day, so she’s really caring and sweet. I think that she’s exactly the type of person who would be able to coax Baejin out of the walls he puts up and then he’d feel so free and relaxed with her. He’s so different from his seemingly cold “deepdark” exterior and we all know he’s a sweetheart that I think would just coincide with Abby’s super relaxed and giving personality and they’d be so compatible and be able to have great times together. But if we’re going to stay with legal relationships, then I’d definitely ship Abby with Daniel. Abby takes on a lot by constantly feeding us and being selfless that she doesn’t take enough time for herself, so someone as loving/caring/lighthearted as Daniel would go perfectly with her to ease some of that stress. Daniel would undoubtedly put her needs before all else and probably has endless patience and would always be laughing at everything she does but also be super attractive at the same time like wtf. Not to mention he can be so damn RUDE and I bet abby has a secret kink for that hhoohohoho. Abby has amazing visuals that really compliment Daniel’s. While most of the Minbooties have either soft visuals or colder, elegant visuals, Abby’s visuals definitely give off a more “sexy” vibe? Sorry ABBY LOLOL PLS DONT CRINGE but Daniel is the same; he can look like a peach bunny and then BOOM he’s stroking his thigh and you’re pregnant. 

@hyuncakes/ @cafewoozi : I would ship Bonnie with Jihoon (you guys are probably so wtf while reading this but hear me out). When you search the word “pure” in the dictionary, Bonnie’s picture shows up. She is incredibly perceptive and picks up on the little things you say while texting her and she always replies with such sweet, wholehearted things. I literally cannot properly describe how nice Bonnie is; she’s the type of person that seems like she would give the best hugs in the entire world. She’ll reply to messages that you’ve sent a long time ago because she’s the type of person who will always make sure you are feeling loved and validated (which everyone always wants and I appreciate you so much for it). She’s really rational, mature, and down-to-earth and basically the type of person that you’d always want to be around with because just talking to her will brighten your day. If Bonnie were a feeling, she’d be the feeling of that warm pocket of sunlight that comes through the window and hits a certain part of the room and its the perfect light to nap under because its the perfect warmth and comfort omf does this even make any sense because ?? But she doesn’t seem to see what a catch she is and Park Jihoon seems like the type of person that would be sooooooo sweet and attentive and almost overly caring for his s/o, and he would give all the love and attention Bonnie deserves. Bonnie is, imo, the mom friend who stays reasonable and can be a really calming person if you start to rage too much; just her presence is very calming? If that makes any sense lololol. She’s definitely a secret nasty as well, though, and we’ve all seen that Jihoon can be RUDE AS HELL when he wants to, and I think he could adequately quench the thiRST if ;)))))))) ykwim :))))))))))) Jihoon and Bonnie would be a really dynamic couple full of cutesy dates and lots of skinship and you’d see them on the streets together with Bonnie wearing Jihoons’ sweatshirt or smth and you’d just get that feeling of “i WANT THAT” 

@minhwangs ok sarah is so DAMN thiRSTY lol but me as well i am 2nd sinner and she’s lowkey crazy too so I think I would ship her with Ong. She’s got a really bright, active personality and overall is someone that I think is really fun to be around. Not to mention, I think she would look really nice with Ong as their visual are similar to me in a way. Sarah is actually my ideal visual (lol that sounds so creepy whOOP) but I really really think that girls that have a defined, angular, and sharp facial structure are soosososso beautiful like I reALLy REALLY like Sarah’s facial structure SO MUCH it’s UNHEALTHY. Her bone structure is the LITERAL VISUAL DEFINITION OF IDEAL FACIAL STRUCTURE imo and Ong also has prominent, defined facial features. Their babies would be literal visual gods straight out the womb. I think a relationship between Ong and Sarah would be lighthearted and carefree as both of them strike me as fun-loving people.  They would have a lot of great, memorable times and double as best friends, not just a couple. Ong also definitely softens for girls and I don’t have any doubt that he’ll be very cutesy with his s/o, even if he’s annoying the other 70% of the time. He’d take really good care of Sarah and put her needs first whenever it truly mattered. Because both of them are such bright and energetic people, I think they’d be able to lift eachother’s spirits in dark times. Sarah tends to give a lot; I think she’s pretty selfless from what I can tell in the messaging patterns? She responds to every message and she’s also so considerate (i was spamming a gc with her about smtm and she didn’t want to trash everyone else’s feed so she suggested a pm, which I didn’t even consider). But she also forgets to take care of herself sometimes (go to sleep, sarah!) and I know Ong would make sure to care for her. As carefree and jovial  as he may seem, Ong is highly intelligent. He’d be able to properly care for her in his own weird Ong way, maybe even without her realizing he’s always looking out for her. He’d probably guise it in a joke but he’d be really just making sure that she was in the absolute best condition possible. He’d probably playfully protest at everything that Sarah suggests but he’d undoubtedly go along with everything she suggests, just to make her happy. 

@2hyeons I would ship Ying with Minyeoooo~~~ Firstly on a purely superficial level, both of them have similar visuals in that they are coldly attractive, like ice. It’s a weird way to describe her, but Ying’s appearance is very elegant and sophisticated; she gives off a particular aura that Minhyun’s resting visual also gives. She’s the quietest in the group chat but she always says the absolute sweetest things and you can feel her warmth, friendliness, and kindness through her messages. Her actual personality is a contrast against her ice queen visuals because she’s so warm-hearted, which I find to be extremely similar to Minhyun. When I first saw Minhyun on pd101 (the scene where he forgot the lyrics during his reevaluations) my exact thoughts were “wow, he’s gorgeous but probably a dick” (which was SO OFF). I also think that Ying has her SHIT TOGETHER, like she has her priorities in order and is very intelligent and probably works really hard, just like Minhyun. Nu’est members chose Minhyun as their smartest member. His work ethic is incredible. He isn’t naturally a dancer (if you couldn’t tel from the iconic minbooty dance), but he slaves away so he can pull off his parts flawlessly. In the older Nu’est videos, you can pick up on his quick-witted personality that I think would balance really really well with Ying. He’s softened as he’s matured and I think he would be sosososso compatible with Ying in that he would find her intelligence endlessly attractive, as well as her dedication and work ethic. Ying is also an explosion of personality when she tumbles in; she always offers us adamant support against hateful anons and also is the same level of absolute t r a s h for the minbooty like you will 100000% catch her bein thirsty as HELL. She’d be able to make Minhyun laugh a lot with her radiant personality and humor. He’s extremely caring and selfless, so he’d watch over Ying well. Ying doesn’t acknowledge that she’s an actual empress, and Minhyun would make sure to let her know every single day. I think Ying would appreaciate Minhyun’s love for skinship and his affection (look at how he treats Ren+Seonho+Baejin) and they’d have the absolute CUTEST couple moments.

@luminous-point OK so STORYTIME: when I first entered the minbooties gc and had no idea who anyone was or what they looked like, I assumed that Reni had used a female idol that I didn’t know as her profile pic. I legitimately 1000% thought that she was an idol based off of her picture and I slowly slowly came to the realization that the picture wasn’t of an idol and was actually indeed RENI herself. I was in absolute shock and for the first week or two that I was in the gc, every time I opened it and saw her little icon I would just think “she is seriously so pretty” and be genuinely in awe. Ok anyways. I would ship Reni with Ha Sungwoon~ I noticed Sungwoon right away the very first episode of PD101 when they did that little segment on the strong visuals of the season and they showed a literal .5 second clip of his face but i was absolutely HOOKED on him since then. He was my absolute favorite visual in the first episode, and then his evaluation performance absolutely blew me away. Talent and visual = Reni. Both Reni and Sungwoon have very strong visuals that I absolutely am in love with, and both are extremely hardworking and talented. Reni is seriously sosososososso important to the minbooties and I appreciate her so much, though I’ve never told her. She’s dually very mature/level-headed yet also etremely playful/fun/bright. She slaves away subbing Nu’est content to give happiness to the fandom and pours so much and time and effort into it just for other people’s enjoyment. Whenever she encounters an issue, she approaches it in a very calm, collected manner that I really respect, and I think that Sungwoon would find it incredibly attractive. Sungwoon is extremely hardworking and imo, underrated. His performance in “Downpour” was most memorable to me, and he was also the very first person to nail the entire “Never” choreography when everyone else could barely get through the first portion and they still voted him off the team smH so both of them don’t get their hardwork acknowledged nearly enough. Reni is also WILD AF (don’t deny it) and I think Sungwoon is definitely the type that’d like that have a really really good time so they’d have really amazing, unbeatably fun dates. Sungwoon is also the type to dote on and be really really loving towards his s/o, which I think would be great for Reni. Reni is super super big sister vibes~ I wanted to EAT my own arm because of college apps and she offered to help and take time out of her own day to read over my essays and gave such amazing advice, so I want someone who I know would treat their s/o like a literally precious jewel for Reni.
