To August anon 2

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply! I don't know if you'll even see this as I've decided not to risk the backlash of putting it on the main tag, but I hope you do.

I want to curate the discussion a bit now that you've shifted part of the focus on Sara. I don't share your position of liking both her and August for being 'morally dark' people, and I fear it may be a bit jarring to any Sara fans reading this. So I've decided to screenshot your message and put it under the cut instead of replying directly.

We disagree on some fundamental things when it comes to August's and especially Sara's characterisation, and I doubt we're going to reach consensus. But that's okay! I'm just going to explain some parts of my POV below, and then we can agree to disagree. There are also a few areas where we seem to be getting our wires crossed (e.g. what we mean by 'understanding' the consequences) so I want to clear those up.

Most of this rambling essay was written before the S3 trailer came out, so I'm not focusing much on the glimpses we see of them in the trailer. But I am still using the spoiler tags just to be safe.

CW: negative take on Sara (but the anon actually likes her); couple of suicide mentions

Okay so... I'm going to start by clarifying a couple of things:

Understanding vs. understanding

Infantilising vs. taking young age into account

When I talk about August and the consequences, I'm not saying he lacks the intellect or analytical thinking to know/predict them. I'm saying he lacks the empathy and relevant frames of reference to understand them. I think we're just using the word 'understand' to mean different things - maybe internalise, empathise or relate would be a better choice for what I mean by it?

To revisit my previous example, August as an incredibly privileged member of the elite cannot understand i.e. relate to Simon's experience as someone whose ability to make his own reputation and get by on his own merit has been permanently affected by the video. As a very confidently straight man, he also cannot relate to Wille's experience as someone whose non-straight sexuality, a deeply personal and private thing that he wasn't even done figuring out, has suddenly been exposed to the world and potentially even some homophobic hate.

I'm not saying this to infantilise, defend, or excuse August. I'm saying it because to me, it partly explains why it's so easy for him to dismiss the harm to Simon and see his betrayal of Wille as just a matter of loyalty - the only moral code he knows - instead of something that would've been wrong no matter who the victim was. It's a thought pattern that stems from his upbringing and worldview, and it would have to be dismantled for him to feel proper remorse. Which I think would probably take professional help at this point.

(I agree with you that August would be extremely prejudiced against Boris. A glimpse of him googling therapy providers or booking an appointment for after graduation might feel more realistic to me - but I guess it depends on what the writers want to do with him. We already saw very quick progress with Wille in S2 so it's safe to say they can take some liberties.)

I still believe that August will lose his social status in S3, likely towards the end. But it's fair that you don't, and the trailer is certainly edited to support your position. If he retains his status, then you may be right about him remaining the same old asshole! If he does lose it, then my original point about him likely not being resilient enough to cope with the consequences still stands. He is very much the kind of person to whom suicide is the "proud" way out compared to the shame of losing everything.

Now, the age thing.

Respectfully, I think you may be ascribing too much meaning to August and Sara being of age in S2 (note that Sara was still 17 when she made the deal with August in S1). Eighteen is the age of legal adulthood, yes, but it doesn't make them fully grown and mature adults in the (neuro)biological, psychological or social sense.

[This feels like a good point to say that I am not going to try to account for Sara's neurodivergence here. I definitely don't have the insight, so if anything I've written below is in any way inaccurate or offensive to persons with AuDHD, please let me know!!]

Firstly, it's important to note that that the human brain matures gradually and unevenly. The prefrontal cortex i.e. the 'reasoning centre' only matures in the mid-to-late 20s, while parts that handle things like right/wrong, risk/reward, and emotional responses (e.g. the amygdala) mature earlier. This can cause teens and young adults to struggle with things like impulse control, assessing the long-term consequences of their actions, understanding others' emotions, and rational decision-making in situations that trigger a strong emotional response. Reason can get overtaken by emotion on a chemical level; sometimes the young person can't even fully explain afterwards why they did something they rationally knew was wrong all along.

[I don't think August was in a particularly analytical state of mind when he decided to post the video. He was an intelligent but emotionally unstable and empathically challenged 18-year-old who felt like he had nothing left to lose and the only moral code he knew (i.e. loyalty) was obsolete. He was also still stewing in the emotional turmoil of his humiliation and likely stuck in a negative feedback loop. It feels very plausible to me that he could be in a very bad place for a pretty long time and still function enough to plan his revenge (more on the revenge part below).]

Secondly, both August and Sara have also had some pretty traumatic experiences (Sara's bullying, August's dad's suicide, the influence of both their dads while they were still in their lives). These may have impacted their emotional and psychological development in various ways and created some thought patterns. Not to play arm-chair psychologist, but I don't think it's a coincidence August's decision to post the video is related to his family estate and legacy, while Sara's decision to make a deal with August is related to the threat of being sent back to Marieberg.

[This feels particularly relevant for Sara, whose bullying was brutal and long-term enough for her to have to repeat a year. The negative attention on Simon after the video probably seemed less severe in comparison, and also like a 'first incident' (in fact, she might have even felt like Linda was applying a different standard to Simon's ordeal compared to hers by immediately wanting to take them both out of Hillerska).]

[I vehemently disagree with Sara's idea that the damage to Simon was already done and it wouldn't have made a difference whether he knew who was responsible, but I think it matters to some extent that she didn't know the history between Simon and August. To her, the video probably seemed like something that was mostly between August and Wille. That idea was likely reinforced by August consistently dismissing Simon's side of it - and also by Simon seemingly moving on with Marcus and no longer being the talk of the school after Christmas. This kind of rationalisation may have even made Sara feel better about pursuing a relationship with August in S2.]

[I also think Sara probably felt like she had the right to be selfish after everything she'd been through. Simon's support during her bullying wasn't conditional; she didn't feel like she "owed him" any sacrifices. It was clearly Simon's idea to follow Sara to Hillerska, and she may have even felt like he was hovering a bit (I doubt S1E1 was her first time saying she was fine now and he didn't have to be there). Then, Simon started to keep secrets and even see Micke for reasons Sara didn't know, altering the terms of their relationship, while Sara was finally daring to dream of things she'd been denied for so long. Friends, a better future, even romance. To her, it felt extremely unfair to have to give all that up and go back to a school that was a nightmare to her but not to Simon. Especially when her and Simon's lives weren't as intertwined anymore and she finally felt like she was gaining some agency in her own.]

Thirdly (circling back to the point about maturity), it's good to keep in mind that both August and Sara are still in the high-school phase of life. A phase when most people are a bit selfish, and their past and current dramas and dreams for the future are everything to them. They haven't really acquired much experience or long-term perspective yet. So I really don't think we can call them that much more mature in the social sense than, say, Wilhelm and Simon. They are still messy teens living their messy teen lives, shaped by their upbringing and limited life experience, all the while thinking they are basically grown adults.

So am I saying all this to infantilise August and Sara and excuse their actions? I'm sure it sounds that way; hence, not putting this on the main tag.

But the way I see it, to infantilise them would be to say they weren't responsible for their actions or didn't know what they're doing. They are responsible, and they do know. All the factors laid out above (and also in my previous August posts) explain their reasoning and actions to some extent, but they do not excuse them. The fact still remains that they both applied their best judgment and deliberately chose to do the thing that they knew was wrong.

You're right that they took time to consider their decisions in S1, although I don't think we can know for sure exactly how long August takes. The timeline is a mess at that point; he is still at the Palace wearing the same outfit when the others make their statement, and I doubt he could've been there overnight. But he does take several hours in any case, and although he isn't thinking rationally at that point, he still knows what he's doing is wrong. In fact, he does it with the sole intention of hurting others, which makes it all the more reprehensible.

I just want to caution against labelling him as some evil, fundamentally unfeeling mastermind. He's just a very selfish and immature young man with a very warped view of the world, who needs to see some consequences for his own sake as much as his victims'. I think part of the reason we saw him turn so soft with Sara in S2 was to underline that he is capable of empathy and caring; it's just a matter of unlocking those emotions. They haven't exactly been nurtured growing up, so he is only applying them to the people he deems "worthy", instead of all his fellow human beings. That selective empathy is another thing he seriously needs to work on, alongside the lack of accountability.

As for Sara, she takes several days to consider what to do about the video, which makes her betrayal of Simon more severe. But as explained above, it's so much more nuanced than her not caring about him. (Or indeed her being some poor victim who didn't know what she was doing and fell in love with The Devil! Don't get me wrong, August definitely let her believe she was guiding him in a better direction, which may have even pushed some Micke buttons in her subconscious and/or memories of Simon's insistence that everyone deserves a second chance... But she still made her own decisions and is responsible for them.)

It's easy to forget that we do in fact see Sara aware that her actions are wrong even before the end of S2. She looks conflicted/unsure when she and August make out in S1E6, cries when Simon earnestly proclaims "I like you when you are you" and "I'm trying to be your friend again because I need you" after she has just betrayed him, and again looks conflicted when the siblings talk about loving the "wrong person" in S2E5. She did some very selfish things and hid them for much too long, yes, but I believe her regret is genuine. It will take some skilful writing to make her and Simon reconcile in a way that makes sense, doesn't feel rushed or reduce her to an archetype, and doesn't just magic away her leftover feelings for August (as those will probably take some time to clear out). But I do have faith it can be done.

So I think that just about covers what I wanted to say. This isn't a comprehensive essay by any means, and I'm sure it won't go down well with everyone. I also don't expect it to change your mind about these characters, anon, and that's okay!

I mostly just wanted to push back on the notion that Sara and August being 18 means all their bad decisions are now on par with bad decisions taken by fully grown adults and their character development is now set in stone. I highly doubt the show will end with them both proudly standing behind their poor choices - I can certainly see August doing that if he doesn't see any repercussions, but not Sara.

In any case, thank you for taking the time to explain your point of view on these characters, and sorry again for taking so long to respond!

Sonic Prime article analysis

Hey guys guess what! there's an article on gizmodo with a new synopsis for sonic prime AND new screenshots! these screenshot's are apparently from episode 6 and 7 (and as you may know we are only getting 8 this year), and while i don't think they show too much, if you don't want any kind of spoilers i'd suggest to just block the tag.

Anyway personally i am SUPER excited about this SO i'm gonna go over this whole article if you don't mind

Alright so FIRST i want to go over the synopsis

While reading the first thing that caught my attention was this

Attitudes and abilities huh? First of about the attitudes, It's not really surprising per se, since we have seen sonic's friends acting kind of ...agressive in previous trailers (plus i'm sure we have all seen the grumpy/feral tails posts), but i do wonder how it will vary between the shatterverses. I feel it could get kind of repetitive if all of them acted more or less the same way. And now about the abilities, do they mean about how in the Rebel!verse people use guns and in the pirate one swords? or is there more to that? aside from cyborg amy having some crazy stuff idk if and how they would give anyone else some impressive new ability.

Something else caught my attention about this article though...

So it seems the core of the show will really be about Sonic learning to appreciate his friends, honestly I am both surprised and not. On one hand, many people, including me, thought this might be the case since the first time we saw that one synopsis that described this show as a journey of "self-discovery and redemption". But on the other hand, one of the first things Sonic says on the trailer is a compliment to his "crew" not really something that i feel someone that needs to learn the power of friendship would say.

Personally, i do not mind this, i know that there are people who hated this idea, but i do think it's a fun idea for the show. I know that this is supposed to be game sonic, but personally i always treat each iteration of sonic as his own little guy. You guys are welcome to disagree and voice your opinions about it (in your own post pls this is a Sonic Prime hype blog now). But i for one am curious (and as they say "cautiously optimistic") about what MoA's take on my favorite hedgehog may look like.

BUT ANYWAY BACK TO THE SYNOPSIS

So, it seems that shadow really IS going to be helping sonic on his journey, I wonder about how much screetime he is gonna get.

Also i almost forgot lmao

It reads to me as saying that Sonic shattering the crystal CREATED this new worlds from Sonic's original one, instead of those been already pre-existing worlds that Sonic is just visiting. Which explain the name Shatterverses.

So anyway that is most of what i have to say on the synopsis, now the screenshots AND their descriptions.

First,

So it seems that things are getting kind of tense with these two, and i do wonder what it is about, but what makes this image the more interesting for me though is the fact that the article claims that this images are from episode 6 and 7. I've had the theory for a while that Sonic would come back at least to this dimension in particular, (based on this:

I don't know about you, but between the gloves and the way he is falling (in the trailer he looks like he is going to faceplant, meanwhile normal gloves!sonic fell on his knees), i feel like this are two different scenes) And it seems i was right. It makes me wonder, how many shatterverses is Sonic going to visit? will it be common for him to go back to world he left? are there going to be mini arcs for each dimention? I am genually so excited for this.

The second screenshot by itself isn't much, I'm pretty sure it's from a scene from a previous trailer (it shows big, rouge and knuckles from the Rebelverse, along with two background characters, staring with surprise at something we aren't shown, but am 100% sure it's Sonic. they also have weapons) But the description under DID caught my attention:

Hello?? Rebel Rouge? Also for some reason she's the only one with a nickname (unless Knucks is on purpose and not a typo, but if so why does rouge gets a whole additional word and then knuckles name is shortened)

And now in the third image, THIS:

Here we have another look at our pirate crew (minus Knuckles) and they...don't look very friendly, i mean they ARE pirates but damn i wouldn't wanna mess with this people (well at least not with Rouge, Amy and Tails kind of look like they are trying too hard to look tough). But anyway that's not important, THIS is:

LMAO SAILS TAILS SADASKJD PLEASE TELL ME THEY CALL HIM THAT IN THE EPISODE. I had to google what Batten meant, apparently there is a saying "batten down the hatches" that means either to "secure a ship's hatch-tarpaulins, especially when rough weather is expected." or to "prepare for a difficulty or crisis".Also now that i think about it, it's probably also a pun on "Bat". At least Amy got a cool, easy to understand name.

NOW FOR THE BEST IMAGE,

SONIC WITH A SWORD MY BELOVED!!!! He doesn't seem very happy about it tho, in fact he looks really unsure? It looks like he managed to convince the pirate crew to work with him (also this is the third time we see a scene with these 3 together without Knuckles), and they look like they are teaching him how to use a sword? maybe? they look either excited or encouraging, something like that. (Also amy you aren't fooling anyone with those heart eyes girl come on you just met the guy). Not sure how i feel about this shoes tbh, they don't look bad but it's definetly his weakest assemble so far.

So anyway now the last picture:

Here we have another shot of the pirate crew! Now with Big included! Still not Knuckles though, which is weird because we know from the trailers this ship is his. I'm starting to wonder if they stole it from him lmao. I wonder who that lank is for, it looks to me as if someone else was about to use it to go to Knuckles ship, Big and Sails (lmao) are waving and everything, and Sails (lol) looks kind of nervous, so I'm guessing that it's not someone friendly.

what were the bls that took you by surprise last year?

well... that would have to be kinnporsche. i saw the "i know you feel it too" bathroom clip the filmania trailer and was intrigued, but lost track of it amidst the initial release drama, only to come back around when i saw the first kiss scene (true chemistry fr). i wasn't fully invested until then, but i guess you can say it spiraled from there 😅 it looked cinematic and very horny (spoiler: it was both), but i never could have expected to be so... oh, what's the word..... consumed by it? (case in point: me writing a mini essay in here eh oh el)

what were the bls that you felt a bit disappointed with last year?

i had to really think back for this one bc i feel like there were so many good bls happening last year. the one that finally occurred to me is gonna sound so stupid... but probably kissable lips? 😭😭 i do not know what i expected or wanted it to be, nor do i really remember it that well tbh, but i feel like it did have potential to be better. again though, i'm not sure what standards i was holding it to so maybe it actually did deliver lol. i could be absolutely crazy, who knows!

Unpopular opinion: Would Lyanna be disappointed in Jon? I dunno, I think Lyanna would think the same way Jon is that Sansa is a rich kid who basically used her dealer for sex. Sansa never tried to get to know him outside of visiting his trailer. Jon literally has no one and is rightfully defensive and he has to be esp when he's dealing with rich kids whom Sansa publicly associates with and what they say about him.

I appreciate Sansa giving him an explanation at school but again its over 2 weeks at that point and she would know that Jon figured it out when he saw them together so her speaking to him afterward to "explain" doesn't come off as genuine (more like guilt) hence Jon's emphatic defense.

Please do a part 2! If you do a 2nd part will it pick up after we left off or would it take place before Sansa goes to college or rather 5-10 years after the locker incident? In which case I hope Jon does well for himself and Sansa.

*spoilers I guess for the fic I just posted earlier today? though honestly it’s too late if you already read the ask lol

Of course she'd be disappointed in him. He's dealing drugs and barely passing school. But also Jon's last thoughts are his own guilt, not necessarily what Lyanna would really think.

And now for my rabid Sansa defense: she's heard all about Jon's reputation as some bad boy ladies man, and when she asks, he doesn't deny it. Jon knows *exactly* what she's asking, and he lies to seem more experienced than he is. He has sex with her on a couch in his living room and then doesn't try to stop her when she awkwardly leaves after. And it's not like he's tried getting to know her, either, outside her coming to his trailer. He doesn't seek her out in school - in fact, he's basically run away every time they cross paths, like he wants nothing to do with her. Maybe if he hadn't, she would've tried to talk to him, or at least smile and wave. She's not so oblivious that she hasn't noticed his avoidance. It's only when she sees him staring at her & Harry in the hall that she realizes maybe he's hurt, and then tries to go explain herself. For all she knew, Jon was glad she was avoiding him. For all she knew, Jon kept letting her over to smoke hoping to get into her pants (as his reputation proceeds him), and now that he has, he's glad to be rid of her.

That's not to say Jon being upset & defensive isn't understandable, either. They're both messed up kids. That's why the tag is there.

As for a part 2, I haven't quite decided yet. My initial urge is to cut to 10 years later, because while I understand that some people get together in high school & stay together, it's also way more common for people to break up because (most) people are very different at 28 then they are at 18. But also now that I’ve gotten on my Sansa soapbox, I sort of want to write the next part from her POV

squentacles has some things to say about jurassic world: dominion

ok yeah i KNOW that i'm over 4 months late but i also didn't get a chance (didn't want to) watch it until yesterday. i'm tagging this a movie review for the sake of convenience, but it's closer to a rant. i guess.

anyways my opinions on the movie is mainly that it's massively disappointing. spoilers for jurassic park 5 and beyond etc etc. discussion is fine and welcomed as long as you don't be mean about it

first and biggest concern: IT WASN'T EVEN FOCUSED ON THE DINOSAURS :(((( the main thing was that this weird new world had to navigate the existence of Actual Fucking Dinosaurs, with maybe some ✨spicy ethical quandaries✨ thrown in for flavor. from the amount of times the dinosaurs showed up in the trailer and also the history of the Entire Franchise you'd rightfully think so, but instead of being the central conflict, they get one scene at the beginning, and then they're just setpieces. i am crying

the cowboy scene was definitely just wish fulfillment. i'm not even mad about that. good for whichever writer got that in the movie, i just though that was pretty goofy

the Giant Locust swarms were terrifying, and from the massive scale of the impacts you'd think it was going to be the main focus, but the corporation kidnapped the "clone" girl now! that's right this is a break in movie folks

just a disclaimer for people who were fucking terrified of the locusts (like yours truly :) ): insects can't actually get that big! most insects have external circulatory systems with spiracles to take oxygen in from directly outside. this is fine when they're small because the surface area/volume ratio of normal locusts is much higher than that of those fucking monstrosities (square cube law etc etc). this may be common knowledge to people. i will still put this disclaimer here for my own benefit.

sattler is so fucking cool. while grant was brooding about the dying funds of paleontology and malcolm was giving ted talks about humanty's inevitable downfall, she changed career paths and wrote several papers about soil and algae as an energy source. she actually managed to be productive. love that for her

but beyond that, i didn;t really get invested in many of the characters (other than kayla because she was cool). it wasn't as plot-focused as many other Big movies i've seen, but it still wasn;t really character-focused either.

i'm taking this quote from i thiiiink the infinity war pitch meeting, because it applies to so many movies: "so much happens in this movie that the characters don't have time to yknow. be characters"

can't forget the Vaguely Easter European/Middle Eastern/Just Generally Foreign Illegal Dinosaur Corrupt Fighting Trade Breeding Black Market! an extremely normal and not harmful trope

i pity the cgi folks who probably worked their eyes off for this movie, but also i think the cgi was bad. they should have used puppets dude

it's been nearly a year since i last saw jurassic park 5, so i don't remember the full details of the movie, including maisie's mediocre-ish arc, but it also would have been interesting knowing her decision over releasing the dinosaurs would have been different if she knew she wasn't a clone

also it was kind of weird for the writers to backtrack on the clone thing. that's all i have to say. it was strange

the scene where everyone had to split up into groups to do stuff (i forgot what said stuff was) was nice actually! it should have been longer. i love to see characters interact and bond in weird situations

(at this point there are 20 minutes left into the movie, i thought. how's the movie going to resolve the locusts and dinosaurs now? HAHAHAHA,)

of course, there was the obligatory dino fight!!!! but i think it was less than 3 minutes long. it even failed to give tension for the helicopter scene, which was the only other reason why it was there. there were no stakes in that fight

admittedly the locusts made a decent b-plot but by the end of the movie they were just gone. girl

in face, the ending felt like the movie gave itself too many plot threads for itself to handle, so it just tied them up as quickly and conveniently as possible. that cowboy rival dinosaur killer died in the black market. the billionaire got killed off in the tunnel several minutes before the finale, which was admittedly ironic and deserved, but then the locusts were completely eradicated within an ambiguous span of time. and then people just decided to be fine with the dinosaurs (which was also accompanied by a voiceover from charlotte lockwood, which made it fine i guess).

like. you had the dinosaur problem at the beginning of the movie, and then the locusts happened, and then that got resolved. x + 1 - 1 = x. you're right back where you started buddy.

as did the second two sequels of the original jurassic park movie, it also completely missed the Point of the original movie. where's the consquences for playing god? ian malcolm is rotating on the floor rn

a fairly informal breakdown of the bob’s burgers movie trailer someone found on snapchat

so a few weeks ago i wrote breakdowns/analysis of the first and second trailers for the movie but last night on reddit i saw someone found a trailer on snapchat that contains some footage i hadn’t seen before!!! so i took screencaps from the bits that were new to me and i’m gonna talk about my observations, theories, and (possible) connections to the other trailers!!

don’t look under the read more if you don’t want to see any pics from the trailer (ik some people like to avoid spoilers entirely), or if you don’t want to load a bunch of images right now (i have way less than i did for the first two since it’s shorter but there’s still a good number of screencaps in this post). also at the bottom of the video there’s a little popup that occludes the lower 20% or so of the picture; i do not control the UI of snapchat.

(also pls dont rb this bc there’s a lot of people on this hellsite that i do not want interacting with me, there’s a reason i didn’t put this post in the main tags, just wanted to get my thoughts out somewhere)

because it’s a snapchat trailer the images are all in portrait instead of landscape, which is a blessing for me not wanting to turn my phone to take caps and a curse because it’s hard to make out what’s happening in a lot of these.

(note: the text in colored bubbles is the dialogue in the trailer)

so as many people would guess (particularly because of the sinkhole) there’s a grand re-re-re-re-opening at some point, likely the end of the movie. also if it’s the end, note that louise is still wearing her bunny ears; her character arc apparently revolves around her thinking about maturity and possibly not wearing them anymore, so i’m assuming she keeps em (which makes sense in both a watsonian and doylist context: louise’s ears are CLEARLY very important to her, they’re her #1 comfort object; they’re also the most iconic part of her design and make her silhouette very unique and also make her look taller which helps visually group her with her siblings around the same height: despite being younger than gene and tina, she hangs out with them all the time and often has a strong grasp on social situations they’re involved in and is generally kind of “wise beyond her years” sometimes which is represented by her having an accessory that makes her look taller

here we see gene in his pajamas, then he jumps up and turns around and is instantly in his rockstar outfit. i’m guessing this is from (an earlier part of) the scene where they’re onstage and then a ufo with robots inside shows up, which i suspect is gene’s imagination b/c gene loves robots and aliens and both are a little too fanciful to appear in the actual setting of bob’s burgers. him instantly changing clothes is also a hint that it’s a dream/fantasy sequence. also note he’s holding his napkin dispenser/spoon contraption, but it’s decorated with stars and lightning bolts which is adorable and also connects to that line in “video killed the gene-io star” when he says he signs his name with 4 lightning bolts, a peace sign, and a yin-yang

here we see linda putting louise’s iconic bunny ears on her head, POSSIBLY for the first time? someone in the comments of the reddit post said it looks like toddler louise. looking at the christmas cards from the credits sequence of “die card or card trying”, that tracks; she’s around this same size in the 4th picture, which is the oldest one where we see her with the hat. i am SO EXCITED to see the story of the ears and why she’s so attached to them

half the reason i took this screencap is because louise’s face is HILARIOUS but also in the background we see a whole bunch of (i believe) small plush toys that are PROBABLY wonder wharf prizes. in the second trailer we see a rack of similar plushies drawn in the same style; they don’t quite resemble the style used for characters and props that are actually animated but now i think that can be chalked up to them being in backgrounds.

bob and linda high-fiving in the bank. hopefully because they’re able to pay off those debts! this is one of the moments i was talking about that’s hard to capture in a screenshot due to being in portrait and not landscape 😔

tina and gene dancing, in what i’m pretty sure is the trailer park musical number. i actually think the trailer park is where a lot of the wonder wharf employees live since its surroundings seem to be in close proximity to wonder wharf and because some of the residents we see dancing in this sequence are also in some of the scenes at wonder wharf proper

near the end of the trailer there’s this very badass sequence of the belcher family in a little seashell car (the same one calvin and felix are driving the kids around in in the first trailer; the lights and hinges on the back are the same and you can see it’s scalloped like a shell in the first trailer) busting through a wall under the dock (it looks like it might be below where the bathrooms are?). this pretty much confirms that they were driving around in under-dock storage at wonder wharf. another interesting detail (that could be completely coincidental) is that the kids are sitting in the same order when bob and linda are driving as they were when calvin and felix were driving: louise is in the middle, with tina on her left hand side and gene on her right hand side. this could mean absolutely nothing but it could also mean these are the same/consecutive scenes and felix and calvin got out of the car, then linda and bob got in the car. (i double-checked to see if the kids ALWAYS sat in that order in the car and it’s not the case: in “bed bob and beyond” they’re sitting in reverse order, while gene is in the middle at the beginning of “it snakes a village”.)

this makes me wonder whether the statue calvin twists the nipples on in the first trailer (what a phrase...and it is entirely accurate to the trailer) is at wonder wharf (i assumed it was at his house because it looks WAY too nice to be at wonder wharf, but it’s a merman which fits the nautical theme) and whether it or the storage has anything to do with the kids falling through a trapdoor in the second trailer

the last bit of new footage in the trailer is a scene of gene and louise surrounded by other kids (probably at school) with a tape, which i SUSPECT is the footage they captured in the scene seen in both trailers where they’re exploring the sinkhole in their pajamas and louise falls in. (in that scene gene wants his gasp to be dramatic which solidifies that it’s the same scene for me.)

SO something i actually missed in the last (uh, first) episode is that right as a dude gets vaporized by frogs, you get a glimpse of THIS GUY:

something i DID notice last time but didnt bring up for some reason: “YOU HAVE 7 DAYS” was a change made for the NA version, and the JP game originally said “TIME LIMIT WITHIN 7 DAYS”

MARE'S RECAPS ~ THE MANDALORIAN: CHAPTER 9 "THE MARSHALL"

Oh wow! It's been a while since I've done something like this. Last year, I caught up with season 1 about 2 days before the finale, so I didn't have the opportunity to write reviews/recaps. This season, though, I'm going to 😀 so here it is the first one!

For the folks that haven't seen the premiere and don't want spoilers, scroll past this, fast and furious, because it's full of them. If you want to blacklist tags to avoid spoilers from me, I suggest that you add #mando spoilers, #the mandalorian season 2 spoilers, and #mare's mando recaps to the list.

I've seen the episode a few times (yeah, I'm that obsessed with the show) so some of my reactions are more visceral than others since I was too excited the few first times I watched it and I missed a lot of details (another reason to rewatch the episode more than once). This recap is loooooong, which is an indication of how amazing it was.

So this my final warning to those avoiding spoilers. Stop reading, right now. The rest of you… enjoy and let me know if you share some of my opinions. I'm always open to chat 😊

Chapter 9 ~ The Marshall

So it begins! It's so exciting!

I knew that Mando and baby Yoda walking in the street at night was going to be the opening scene. I started to think about it after watching the second trailer, and I'm glad that I was right.

It turns out that the red-eyed creatures were not jawas as I saw some people saying.

Baby Yoda was not happy with the little excursion to the fighting arena. Not walking on the streets nor inside watching the fight. I still laughed when he locked himself up in the pram, even if I've watched the trailer like a gazillion times by now and I knew he was going to do it.

And talking about the baby, he's getting more vocal I think. He's making a few new noises, whimpering more, which I'm not sure if it's a good or bad thing. That he complains more means that he feels safe with his buir and isn't afraid of retaliation for it as he probably was with others in the past and the reason he didn't cry much in season 1. But it breaks my heart that he is stressed. And that child is anxious, I can tell you that much.

The fight with Gor Koresh's thugs was awesome! The gamorrean flying to squash Mando and failing had me cracking up. And omg! Din'd moves! Using his helmet as a weapon and throwing his vibroblade. And leaving Gor Koresh to be eaten! Man of his word, he didn't kill the guy.

On a side note, I would've never guessed it was John Leguizamo who gave voice to Koresh until I saw the credits. Of all the actors who could play the part, I never thought of him.

Umm, I'm curious about the time Mando has spent in Tatooine, which according to him it's been a lot and it makes sense since he knows so much about the Tuskens, their language and culture. I'm guessing he spent a while among them. He had to learn all that somehow.

When I speculated that Mando was going back to Tatooine after watching the trailers, I said that I was going to riot if he didn't visit his favorite mechanic. Thankfully, I didn't need to worry. I loved Peli in episode 5 of season 1 and I loved her even more now remarking on Din's dislike of droids and trying to keep the baby for herself. Not to mention she complaining about not getting good help these days 🤣

And I ADORE the (improvised?) Birikad Din got for the baby. Of course, the baby is safer in the pram, right (guessing that's why he used it when he met Gor Koresh), but there's something sweet watching him carrying his son so close to him.

And I tell you, Mando has been spending credits lately in baby stuff. I mean, he got a new pram (which I initially thought it was the original that he had somehow retrieved from the garbage in Nevarro, but no, it's not the same, and neither it's the one that Kuiil made) and he also got the bag/birikad thing, which looks brand-new. I wonder what else he bought.

Watching the droids doing maintenance of the Razor Crest makes me think it's all for nothing, knowing that in a few episodes (it might be even in the next one) Mando is going to crash the ship. More than once perhaps.

😆 The baby still loves speed! I think riding on the speeder bike was the only moment that he truly enjoyed in this episode. Look at that happy face

When they arrived at Mos Pelgo and Din went into the cantina, leaving the baby outside, I was like: Din! That's not responsible. How can you leave your son out in the inclement sun, alone! Then baby Yoda peeked in and I went: never mind. I take back what I said.

Oooh. Cobb Vanth! I love him! For a moment, I thought it could actually be Boba but it seemed illogical and that's what Mr. Feloni and Mr. Favreau wanted us to think. I was correct.

My gawd! Din's shock when Vanth took the helmet off. I just knew he would freak out the moment Cobb asked for drinks and I said to drink they need to remove their helmets and Mando is going to lose it when this guy does. And the standoff! Was so good! "Take it off or I will" is going to become a quite popular phrase in fics from now on, not in the same context, but yeah…

The krayt dragon… oh shit! Or rather Dank farrik! We can't see Mando's face or expression but I can imagine which one was when he saw the dragon eating the bantha the first time.

Oh my goodness. The baby hiding in the pot! Too adorable!

I know every hardcore SW fan lost it watching Vanth modified speeder because is a callback to the Phantom Menace and Anakin but my first thought was: is he compensating for something? Sorry, I couldn't help it

The dog-lizard creatures were kinda scary at first but then became adorable. Almost as much as baby Yoda getting out of hiding

Baby Yoda doesn't like dog-lizards things. He looked afraid to be eaten I think. Poor little guy.

And look at that! Din showing such growth! To think he was the one incensing others in negotiation 😆 this is a total callback to the jawas in Arvala-7. And I gotta tell you, Din freaking loves his flamethrower. He doesn't waste the opportunity to use it.

The krayt dragon eating the Tusken raider instead of the bantha was quite of a plot twist 😆

When they were planning the attack on the dragon, Cobb Vanth's face when Din told him that the bones and pebbles were to scale, and then when he had volunteered the villagers to help… priceless!

I like the fact of banding together with others for a greater good, relying on others to accomplish something is going to continue being the theme of this season. It started last season but I think it's going to be stronger this time around along all of the episodes.

😳😲😳😲 this thing vomits acid?! What. The. FUCK?!!!

Cobb: I don't think it's dead

Mando: me neither

Me, at the same time as Din: yeah, nope it's not dead

Oh yeah! Teaming up with jetpacks!

When they showed the bantha with the remaining explosives my first thought was why didn't they use all those before?! That's why they didn't kill it!! Of course, it was just an excuse to grant Din a more grand win in the end, but you know, it's stupid not to use everything you have to kill the monster on the first try. Just saying

Wait, what? Din! What are you going to do? No! Taking care of the child is your responsibility, not Cobb Vanth's! I hate this plan of yours, Din Djarin!! Whichever it is!

Oh! Nice callback to the flaw on that jetpack. But makes me wonder, do all the rising Phoenixes have the same flaw? Cuz unless Din knows Boba in person and that it's his armor with that particular flaw, it means it's a common problem for all and I don't like it.

Get away, Din! Get away, Din!! FLY AWAY!! AAAAAAAHHHHHH! NOOOOOO!

There he is! Damn, Mando! Don't scare me like that! Altho, it was a nice move.

Okay, but now I want someone to explain something to me. If the dragon's acid melted people at contact before, how the hell is Din so whole? I mean, sure for argument' sake let's say his beskar armor provides some protection, but he's not entirely covered in it. His cape and undersuit seem just fine, albeit sticky. Where's the logic in that?

The tuskens getting the pearl reminded me of the jawas and the mudhorn's egg, chanting zukka, zukka (or however egg is spelled in Jawa).

That's quite a piece of meat. The baby is going to be happy eating off it for days🤣

😮😮😳😳 BOBA FETT!!!!! Yesssssss!!

Okay, I've seen other people's thoughts and some think that Boba was after Cobb Vanth because he had the armor, but I don't know. If that was true then why he hadn't gone to Mos Pelgo and got it? It seems to me that it's more likely that Boba is following Din somehow because it's the second time in as many Mando's visits to the planet that they sort of cross paths. Could they know each other? Have some score to settle? It's possible. Din has spent much time on Tatooine -his words, not mine- so it wouldn't be so out of consideration that they actually know each other. That if Mando knows Boba is (fake?) Mando, I don't know. Probably not, but who knows?

Extra thoughts

I gotta say that Ludwig Göransson is killing it with the score music! Oh. My. God! So so so so good! I could tell from the trailers that it was going to be awesome this season but it astounded me in chapter 9. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous! My favorite piece is when they're going to the dragon's cave to kill it. The orchestral sound of the already familiar music blew my mind!

I saw Dogcopter 3 in 3D tonight and all I have to say is WOOF!

First of all, it’s a huge mistake to turn the last Dogcopter book into THREE movies. Yes, the last book is over 900 pages, but there’s not enough story! And the 3D was completely unnecessary. If I wanted to see butt missiles flying at my face, I’d feed a dog some bottle rockets and put on a pair of safety goggles.

Dogcopter is supposed to be an uncompromising look at the military-industrial-pet complex, not “fun”! Fun is the worst.

Also, if you live in the Delmarva area - do not see it at the Beach City Cineplex. The parking lot is a mess! Probably from a bunch of angry Dogcopter fans rioting. Ugh, I’m going to see this 3 more times to make sure I hate it.

KEEP BEACH CITY SPOILER FREE January 04 2016

Hey weirdos! For the past few months, I’ve done something unprecedented - I’ve stayed off the internet.

It was hard but I had to do because I’ve been trying to stay SPOILER FREE for the movie event of the new millennium! This December was the revival of one of the most famous sci-fi franchises in the world. Yep, you know what I’m talking about: DOGCOPTER.

So for three months, I sequestered myself from all internet communications. I handed over my laptop and my phone to my little bro, Peedee, and ordered him to bury them in an undisclosed location in the deserts of New Mexico.

I think he just put them in the walk-in freezer at the fry shop.

I won’t lie, it was hard. But I calmed my nerves by reacquainting myself with the “Young Adult Conspiracy” section at my local library. And instead of getting in arguments with internet trolls, I got in real life arguments! With my dad!

And after months of avoiding and spoilers or teasers or trailers, I was in line for Dogcopter 4, and then some dummy walking out of the theater TOTALLY SPOILED EVERYTHING and was like, “I can’t believe that Dogcopter’s parents are actually cats.”

Ug! I hope you’ve seen the movie because that’s pretty much the big ending. Dogcopter dies defending the planet but then he comes back to life because he’s actually part cat and cats have 9 lives. Anyway, the movie was pretty much ruined. So now I’m back. Spoilers are the worst.

Since the trailer of She-Ra season 4 came out, I have a lot of questions and predictions about what will happen next.

1. I want to starts with Entrapta.

In the end of season 3, Catra send her on beast island. We don’t see her in the trailer, but she is still the in opening intro. so Entrapta is ALIVE. This is not a surprise for everyone, but I wanted to say it.

Entrapta will be on beast island and who do you think is on this island? Micah. I am at 210% Micah is there, and who send him there? Shadow Weaver. I wouldn’t be surprise that Shadow Weaver saved Michah’s life.

Anyway, we will learn about Entrapta and Micah during the mid-season and they will make a comeback at the end of the season.

I am so excited for this story because don’t get me wrong, but if there’s someone who can escape Beast Island it’s Entrapta, and she will have help of Micah. Plus Shadow Weaver said it, Entrapta is the only one who can combine Magic and Technology.

2. Mara

So, there’s a lot of theory about Mara and I think the one we all agree is that she is still alive.

The first theory is that she is in a dimension, like Angella, and she is stuck there.

Actually, I have difficulties with this one, since she has recorded the message after crashing and we heard people coming for her. Except is she opened the last portal where Hordak get Adora.

The other theory is that she is on beast island, which it can be interesting too and make a nice story with Entrapta and Micah.

Another theory is that Madam Razz is Mara in a costume, and she try in her best to train Adora and guide Adora. Which it could be really nice too.

One theory is that Mara is actually dead, and it was really a perfect world where Adora was not She-Ra. Since she struggles a lot being She-Ra and wish, in a way, to have control in her destiny.

Last theory about Mara is that she is kept by Light Hope in a prison, in the temple where Adora train.

I am pretty sure we will have more keys about Mara, but I wouldn’t be surprise that she will show herself only at the end of the season or at the beginning of the last season.

3. Glimmer

I think Glimmer will be one of the character the most interesting this season and everyone is excited to see it.

Glimmer will leave big change in her life and I the "dead" of Angella. She will feel alone and will push people away, mostly Adora and Bow.

The only person she will allow will be Shadow Weaver, and god no one wants to be close to her. *except me, spank me mama* Shadow Weaver will bring the idea of vengence in Glimmer’s head. I mean, she doesn’t need Shadow Weaver for that, but she won’t help either.

I think Glimmer will be in a depression, that we will call the "Dark side" and at some pount she will cross a line and bring her back in track.

The line she will cross?

I won’t be surprise she will try to hurt Catra and Adora will protect Catra, and Glimmer and Adora will have a huge fight about that. And this could happen mid-season or the end of season 4.

I won’t be surprise either that she will try to banish Entrapta and Bow will protect Entrapta and boom bug fight between these two.

Don’t get me wrong, but if glimmer is going to the dark side will learn the hard way and she will need to cross a line to know what she is doing it’s not ok.

I am really excited to see what will happen. Btw, her new design is so sexy.

4. Catra

Catra is sexier than never. Top me, top me, top me.

Catra will take over Hordak and we already saw it in the sneak peek. Which many of us preddicted.

Catra will love to be in control, but don’t get me wrong I feel she will hit the rock bottom soon more than never.

I feel like Scorpia will play a huge part in this, plus Double Trouble and Horde Prime.

We all know that the redemption arc is closer than never. Is it at the end of season 4? Is it at the beginning of season 5? Is she going to change camp at the end of the last season during the final battle?

Catra has so many possibilities and this is awesome. I really wish it will be end of season 4, where she will start to see what she is doing is bad, but I feel it won’t be.

Is Catra a princess? We know that now she has the same hair that we saw in season 1 episode 12 with Light Hope. BUT is she a magicat princess or it’s because she will be at the head of the Horde and being considered as a princess to fight against Horde Prime? That is really more and more interesting.

I would like to see Catra being captured by the Rebellion and seeing Scorpia with them and going crazy. Anyway, Catra will need a good kick in the ass, but more she gain power more we are close to see her fall and get her redemption fam.

5. Double Trouble

Our new nonbinary character is finally here and god I already love them.

Are they going to be a brat? Yes they will. Are they good or villain? That is an interesting question, since in the old She-Ra they are Glimmer’s cousin and work has a double agent. I wouldn’t be surprise that they are a double agent again but for Horde Prime this time. But we saw them in the Prom episode and I don’t think it was an accident. So they might be a double agent again, but Glimmer doesn’t even know they are.

Maybe they are a new Scorpia love interest? I would love to see that happen. Im sorry for Scortra fan, but in my opinion Scorpia deserves better and deserves someone who will love her as much as she loves.

This character will be really interesting, and I can’t wait to see them.

6. Scorpia

We already know that Scorpia will have an episode about her and I can’t wait to see her stand for herself and kick Catra’s ass.

God, I’ll be honest with you everyone, I am waiting for this moment since season 1. I love Scorpia and I think she will be a great leader. At the end, I want to see her at the head of the Horde and bring peace in this place.

I don’t know what will happen with Scorpia tbh. I feel like she will leave the Horde because Etheria will be more important than Catra happiness. I feel she will bring people with her too, like Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio and maybe Double Trouble will be the reason of it.

I think it will be a difficult journey for Scorpia but she will finaly find herself and being stronger than never.

If Scortra has to happen, I guess it will be at the very end, because a little like catradora, they need to separe themselve because Catra is in a toxic mode.

7. Bow

Tbh, I have no clue about Bow this season, but I am a little worried about him.

I would like to see him being less a people pleaser and stabd for himself too. NO ONE CARES BOW! BE YOURSELF, WE LOVE YOU THE WAY YOU ARE.

I feel that Glimmer and him will be really difficult this season, but they will find a way. I know they will.

But I feel like the fight about Glimmer wanting to hurt someone and Bow trying to convince her that they are the "good guys" will come back during the season.

I think he will be really important and I can’t wait to see the direction his character will take.

8. Adora

My favorite dumb lesbian.

Since the story turns around her, again she will be the key elements.

I feel Adora will struggle to see Glimmer being bad, Catra being bad and the story with Mara and Etheria.

Adora has to live with the idea that Angella sacrifice her life to save everyone when it was her job. Does it can create a cold between Glimmer and her? Probably.

She will go through a lot of pressure and won’t know what is good and what is bad anymore.

I feel Adora will learn, and she already seeing it, that there’s no balck and white, but more greys areas.

I would like to see Scorpia join the Rebellion and Adora and Scorpia becoming friend. I would like to see them struggle together about seeing their friends becoming more and more villains. Adora will have difficulties to let Glimmer go more than Catra because I feel she doesn’t want to make the same mistake she did with Catra. Or it could awake new feelings about Catra, and see what her mistake was.

Is infected She-Ra will be here again? I hope so.

9. The Rebellion

I really feel that Glimmer going crazy will create problem in the Princess Alliance.

I think it will struggle to get stick together, but Adora and Bow will do their best to keep them together.

I could see Glimmer canceling the Alliance too tbh.

I know at the end they will be back together.

I hope we will see more about Sea Hawk this season because I really missed my boy.

10. Hordak

Hordak lost his queen, and now will lose his position at the head of the Horde.

I feel Catra will keep him around until she doesn’t need him anymore.

He will be lost in his head and I feel he will have like an existencial crisis.

I could see him going back at the head when Horde Prime arrives.

I can see him leaving and going after Entrapta.

I can see him going feral after learning that Catra lied and take back his place to the Horde.

One thing is sure, it’s that he still wants to prove himself to Horde Prime, so I won’t be surprise that he will fight his place until he will be able to.

I wish, my boi will get his anti heros redemption and join the rebellion to fight Horde Prime.

I want to see him and Entrapta reunited, but I won’t be surprise that Entrapta will try to come back to him and he will push her away thinking she betrayed him.

ANYWAYS,

I feel like Shadow Weaver will be important in Glimmer’s dark side.

I wish that Shadow Weaver and Catra will find peace between each other, not for Shadow Weaver, but more for Catra to be in peace with herself and love herself better.

Plus, this season seems really huge and I am really excited because everything can change and alot might change too.

I am not ready, and we are going close to the end and I hate that. I wish they will give us more episodes than 50, because I really need more. I love this show so much and The Crew is doing a great job and continue to slap us in the face so many times.

We all thought that season 3 was our mental breakdowns, I feel that we are going to cry a lot in season 4.

Lucifer season 5

Even though I don’t believe in spoilers, I’m feeling generous today, so here’s your spoiler warning. I’ll be talking about the season 5 trailer so don’t read ahead and don’t read the tags if you’re one of THOSE people.

Don’t say I never did anything for you.

SO. Everyone else saw the trailer right?

At first I was like Lucifer season 5 hype/

But after giving it some thought I’m downgrading my reaction from “Hype” to “Optimistic but cautious”.

Michael’s deal is going to be either “I hate Lucifer because dad loved him more than me” or “I’m mad because God locked me in hell for a bajillion years.”

But we already went over that once already with Amenadiel and Mum. What’s Michael going to bring to the table?

Or maybe I’ll be wrong. It’s been known to happen once or twice.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out. Cheers.

Side note, is anyone ever going to call bullshit on God for playing favorites with his kids? Well, I mean, pretty much everyone who has interacted with him has done so, but it hasn’t stuck, has it? Lucifer gets slapped down, Amenadiel recants his doubt, Mum buggers off to another plane of existence after manipulating them against their father. It’s all “in mysterious ways, etc” from there on in. Seems kinda fishy, if you ask me.

ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD review

ONCE UPON A TIME…IN HOLLYWOOD is my favorite movie of the 2010’s.

I’ll give you a minute to put your recently-blown mind back together.

So why do I love this movie so much? The overall response to Quentin Tarantino’s supposedly penultimate opus has been very positive if not rapturous, but I’ve seen some surprisingly lukewarm and even negative reviews, with people criticizing it for being slow, meandering, lacking in depth or *shudder* boring. Obviously the quality of any movie is subjective, as I’m quick to remind anyone who hates Michael Bay movies, but I honestly don’t understand people who dislike OUATIH. Maybe it’s a matter of expectations, because I didn’t know how to feel about the film for much of the first time I watched it either.

The year is 1969, a time of great political and cultural change in the country and in the entertainment industry. The star-driven films of yesteryear are giving way to grittier, artsier, more auteur-driven works as we primarily follow Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a popular cowboy show whose failed attempt to start an A-list movie career has left him relying on guest spots as TV villains-of-the-week to stay afloat. This is wonderfully laid out in the opening scene where he meets casting director Marvin Schwarz (Al Pacino, easily his best role since JACK & JILL), who lays out Rick’s lowering hierarchical status (“Who’s gonna kick the shit out of you next week? How about Batman & Robin? PING. POW”), while offering him an opportunity to be a leading-man again in Italian pictures.

Tagging along is Rick’s best, and maybe only, friend Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt), Rick’s go-with-the-flow stunt-double who in the slowdown of Rick’s career has effectively become his driver and gofer, as well as Rick’s sole source of emotional support. Rick is also neighbors with Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie), the beautiful young actress and wife of then-superstar director Roman Polanski (whose inclusion in the film is minimal and handled tastefully), as she lives out her idyllic life, beloved by those around her like the ray of sunshine she was in real life. Her gated, hillside home looms over Rick’s, as he ponders aloud about how even meeting her the right way could resurrect his career.

For almost two-and-a-half hours, we follow these three characters as they just live out their lives, Rick nursing hangovers and having emotional breakdowns in front of his 8-year-old co-star on set while contemplating his future, Cliff going where the wind blows him while taking care of his adorable and highly-trained dog, and Sharon as she drives around Old Hollywood, spends time with her friends, and sneaks into a matinee showing of one of her movies, her eyes and infectious smile beaming with pride when the audience laughs at her comedic timing and cheers her martial-arts prowess.

I think it’s safe to say it’s not the film any of us were expecting from Quentin Tarantino. Having only made loud, gory, over-the-top genre pastiches for the last 15 years, you’d expect from the trailers for this to be about an actor and his sexy stunt-double getting mixed up with the Manson family before teaming up with Bruce Lee to save Sharon Tate from her horrific real-life fate, mixed with the filmmaker’s usual self-indulgent homages to films of yesteryear. While some of this is true to some extent, it’s surprisingly a much more relaxed, easygoing dramedy that follows a trio of funny, charismatic people as they just…exist, as people living in the moment instead of relics.

OUATIH is much more concerned with atmosphere, character, and capturing the feeling of a bygone era than the traditional narrative structure. It’s more effective than pretty much every nostalgia trip movie I've ever seen because you can feel Tarantino's affection for this era of his childhood bleed through every character, car, song, radio advertisement, TV show, background poster, etc. It’s through this meticulous level of detail and willingness to just hang out with these characters and take in this world that he reconstructed, Tarantino successfully resurrects the era in all its 35mm glory, but with the knowing twinge of real-world melancholy.

I guess the reason I love it so much is because the love that Tarantino has for everything and everyone in it is so tangible that it’s infectious. Watching OUATIH I honestly felt like I understood him better as both a filmmaker and as a person. He shows a level of restraint and maturity I haven’t seen since JACKIE BROWN. Even most of his trademark foot fetishizing is tasteful and subdued (I say “most” because I recall at least three close-ups of actresses’ feet that definitely made him a bit sweaty behind the camera). He’s a weird, shameless nerd with a big ego, but he’s 100% sincere about expressing his love for film and its rich history. And it’s this love, and the skill and style with which it’s expressed, that just put a big smile on my face each of the 6 (SIX) times that I’ve seen it since it came out.

Tarantino offers a tantalizing contrast between reality and fantasy. Throughout the film, as the characters of Hollywood live in their own idyllic world, relaxing in pools or driving around in bitchin’ cars, we also see the disquieting eeriness and griminess of the Manson family. The soundtrack and accompanying old-timey commercials for tanning butter or Mug Root Beer that plays through a lot of the film is a joy to listen to, but we also hear news bulletins of the war in Vietnam or the aftermath of the Bobby Kennedy assassination. You could argue this is just to set the scene for the era, but it feels too deliberate, because even after that joyously fantastical ending, we remember that it was just a fairy tale and real life didn’t turn out as pleasantly. Tarantino’s ability to make his world and characters so meticulously detailed and lived-in works to great effect in instilling a bittersweet melancholy to this film in a way I was really taken aback by. It feels like a window into his soul, someone who yearns for the fantasy of the world he grew up in but remembering that not all good things last and not everything in your nostalgic past was good to begin with.

One beautiful, spellbinding scene is Rick and Cliff coming back from their excursion into the world of Italian filmmaking. In this montage, we see Rick, Cliff and Rick’s new Italian wife arriving at the airport and driving home before unpacking their baggage, interspersed with Sharon Tate welcoming a guest at her home and having lunch, before cutting to a series of shots of famous LA landmarks like Grauman's Chinese Theatre, Taco Bell, and Der Wienerschnitzel all meticulously resurrected in their retro glory as they light up the night. “Baby, baby, baby you’re out of time”, sings Mick Jagger as we’re watching multiple stories about people who are each embodying those words: Rick’s career, his friendship with Cliff, Sharon Tate, and Hollywood itself.

Tarantino himself feels like one of the last mainstream auteur filmmakers, as well as one of the last and biggest proponents of shooting large-budget movies on film (even Scorsese’s embraced digital now, the fantastically-talented traitor). And with the rise of streaming services, one can’t help but feel like the movie-going experience itself is also becoming obsolete, especially recently, what with theaters going to war with distributors over fucking TROLLS: WORLD TOUR, not to mention that global pandemic we’ve been having lately all but killing general audiences’ enthusiasm for the movie theater experience (Christopher Nolan’s TENET certainly didn’t help). If all these things, both real and fictional, are indeed out of time, then at least with Tarantino’s penultimate film they get one hell of a bittersweet sendoff, a great time that’s more of an Irish wake than a funeral, and it’s a film I have no issue calling a truly introspective, late-career masterpiece.

And that’s without mentioning uniformly incredible cast. Leo DiCaprio, an actor I normally don’t care too much for, gives the best and funniest performance of his career as a dependent prima donna actor clinging to his remaining fame. Brad Pitt earns the hell out of his Oscar as an embodiment of old-school masculinity and charisma with an amazing set of abs (and everything else) whose outward coolness masks his mysterious past and complete badass-ness. Margot Robbie shines in her depiction of Tate, a beacon of warmth and likability who in many ways symbolized the love and carefree attitudes of the swingin’ 60’s. I’ve heard people criticize her character for not having a lot of dialogue, but to me it feels like they’re ignoring the visual storytelling, which just gives way to them assuming the film is sexist just because the female lead isn’t constantly monologuing. Every member of the supporting cast is memorable with their own quirks and great lines, no matter their screentime.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a Tarantino joint without some truly hilarious and shocking violence, and without going into spoiler territory, the last 20 minutes delivers on this promise to such a degree that I feel comfortable calling it the best thing he’s ever done. Some may decry the climax as unnecessary or over-the-top, but the way it leads to an alternate world while subtly acknowledging what happened in the real one is cathartic beyond belief. And if you’re paying attention, every scene in the movie has been quietly building towards this finale, which to me takes away any potential of feeling meandering in the story. If you saw the movie and didn’t much care for it, I recommend giving it another watch. Having the context ahead of time makes it feel so much more rewarding, and even on the fifth watch I’m noticing clever, subtle set-ups I missed beforehand.

It’s also just super cozy and really easy to watch. The two hours and 45 minutes fly by. I could watch a 4-hour version of this.

Quentin, if you’re reading this, please don’t let your last movie be Star Trek.

Beginnings [ Mysterio x Reader ]

Summary: Maybe chaperoning your younger brother’s Europe trip was worth it after all.

Warnings: Typos, I finished this at 2am. Oops.

A/N: the trailer was amazing and everyone is loving Mysterio so I had to do what I had to do because I love him too.

DOES NOT CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM FAR FROM HOME!

THIS WAS WRITTEN WHEN THE TRAILERS CAME OUT!

You had decided to tag along on Peter’s trip because one, it was Europe, two, he had a knack for getting into trouble, and three, you didn’t feel like being apart from him for so long.

You were in your twenty’s so it took a bit of convincing to let you go on the trip. But, when it came to light that one of the teachers couldn’t come, you gladly took their place.

After the events from the previous battle against Thanos and Peter dying, you never wanted him to leave your sight again. He didn’t want you or May to leave him alone, either.

Peter was packing up his items while you lugged your suitcase to the living room, “Peter! We’re going to be late!”

“Alright, alright!” He shouted back and there was a muffled scream and the sound of something falling.

May looked up from her book and placed it down when she saw you shaking your head, “I don’t know how I’m going to survive without you two!”

Smiling, you sat next to her on the couch, “Sure, May. It’s not like anyone has caught your eye and can’t keep you company.”

“Oh, you hush,” she nudged your shoulder. “Maybe you’ll find someone over there.”

“Ah, and have a short little fling? No thanks,” you shook your head. “I’m going to enjoy this trip with Peter.”

“I’m glad you’re going, sweetie.”

“Me too. Let’s just hope Peter doesn’t make us late.”

“Oh, he probably will.”

Walking through the ancient streets, you looked at different shops through the windows, seeing where you wanted to eat lunch.

The group decided to go on a boat ride, but not wanting to go and get sea sick, you stayed back.

All was normal until there were multiple screams coming from the same area, until a herd of people running for their lives passed you in the opposite direction of where you left the group.

You stopped a lady who was in hysterics, “What’s going on?”

“There’s - there’s a water monster!” She shouted and ran off again.

A deep gut feeling told you Peter wasn’t okay.

You rushed forward, pushing past the people who were coming at you.

“Peter! Peter!” You yelled, maybe in hopes that he would hear you and call back.

You stood on a bridge overlooking the water and saw from not too far away, a giant growing water beast.

“Oh, Peter, where are you!” You shouted and looked upon the waters to see if you could spot their boat.

“(Y/N)!” Peter shouted and came barreling towards you. “You need to get out of here!”

“Do you have your suit?”

“Yes, but I don’t think I have time -“

“Peter!” You pointed, seeing a huge wave ready to crash onto both of you. Peter grabbed you in his arms but lost his grip on you as the water hit.

You slipped from him and knocked your heard against the stone railing. Black filled your vision and dreams clouded your mind.

“Hey, please wake up,” a voice you didn’t recognize said softly but also urgently.

You blinked many times, not sure where you were or what happened exactly. You were laying down, and above you was a man who had brown hair and a beard to match, but his hair was all messy.

“I thought you were never going to get up,” He said, a small smile gracing his lips. He helped you sit up, and you saw you were in a small room.

“My brother - he, he was there, and I knocked out. Oh, where is he now?”

“I’m not sure, I found you unconscious on a bench drenched in water,” The man said, and you finally got a good look at him.

He was handsome, no doubt there, but he was in a whole suit that made him look like a Roman emperor.

“Are you a villain? The one who caused the water beast?”

“No, no. I stopped it, though,” he said. “I have powers, you see.” He lifted his hand and floating on his palm was a green pyramid. He closed his hand, the sight vanishing.

“That’s great, but I need to go now, my brother probably needs me,” You tried to stand up, your view taking in a small home with not much but enough to make it a home.

“You’re weak and have a concussion,” he said and pushed you to sit. “Stay down for awhile, then I’ll help you look for your brother. I’d say you can call him but I’m pretty sure your phone broke.”

Sighing, you agreed to stay, “May I know your name if I have to stay?”

“I’m Quentin Beck,” he held out his hand and you shook it.

“I’m (Y/N) Parker.”

Within the next hour, you managed to get to know Quentin and how he became a hero.

Desperately wanting to tell him about your knowledge of heroes and how your brother was one and that the Avengers were considered your second family, was really hard to keep a secret.

You learned small things about him from his home. From the vinyl’s in the corner to the house plants to the multiple quirky mugs.

“I should probably leave now and find my brother, I’m feeling better then before.”

Quentin, who enjoyed talking to you (and you’d be lying if you said you didn’t like talking with him too), seemed disappointed.

“That’s probably for the best,” he nodded. “Maybe our paths will cross again.”

“You could always escort me back to the hotel?”

“Yes, I’d love to!” Quentin said too quickly and felt embarrassed.

“It’s very lovely here,” You said, admiring how the city looked at night.

“I never really come out here as often,” He confessed. He had changed out of his hero attire to not draw any attention before you left his home.

“You should, though, each street is a different adventure... and each one manages to have a dessert shop of some kind.”

He chuckled and stole a glance at you, seeing the way the street lights illuminated your face perfectly.

“Yeah, dessert is pretty big in this city,” Quentin said.

“Mm, I would have never guessed,” you replied, and suddenly grew upset that you arrived to your hotel.

You knew you had to go in to see if Peter was in there and make sure he was okay, but an invisible string seemed to tie you to Quentin.

“Well, here’s my stop,” you muttered, staring at the building.

“It was nice getting to talk to you, (Y/N),” Quentin said, his eyes never leaving you.

You turned to look at him, a small smile on your face, “It really was.”

“Goodbye, then, (Y/N),” He said, taking your hand and kissing it.

“Goodbye, Quentin.”

You walked into the building, but looked behind yourself once to see him standing there with an unknown emotion on his face.

“So, how was the trip?” May said, hugging you as she greeted Peter and you outside the airport. “I saw the news.”

“It was... eventful,” You admitted, the thoughts of Quentin coming back.

“I’m glad to be back here,” Peter said, resting his head on your shoulder. “And I’m really tired and hungry. Can we stop for McDonald’s? I need American food.”

May chuckled, “Okay, kiddo.”

Arriving back to the house with bags of McDonald’s, May talked to you while Peter went to place his bags in his room.

“So... Meet anyone?” May raised an eyebrow.

“Yes, but nothing happened. All we did was talk.”

“Sure, sweetie,” she smiled and winked. “And fell in looooove.”

“Who’s in love?” Peter squinted his eyes while walking back into the kitchen. “Better not be Happy and you, May.”

May looked guilty and Peter groaned, “Oh, great. Now I’m going to have to call Happy uncle.”

Later on that night, a notification came to your phone from none other than Nicky Fury. The only other time he messaged you was when he tried to recruit you but failed when you said how terrible you were at fighting.

“Here’s Quentin’s number. He mentioned you.”

You couldn’t believe your eyes as you saw him send a second message with the number attached.

“Thanks, Fury.”You typed in the number into a new message and decided on saying, “Hi, it’s (Y/N) Parker. Fury gave me your number.”

Quentin didn’t reply immediately, thinking it was a joke, but he eventually did - making you smile as you received and him smile as he sent it.

But if only you knew what Quentin would become.

So Into You: Prologue

Note: AHHHHHHH it’s here! It’s finally here! The prologue for my first ever Chris Evans x Poc OC series! If you’d like to added to the Tag Squad, let me know. Without further ado, let’s take a journey through the friendship of Chris and Roxie and let’s see where it takes them.

Warnings: Slight spoiler for Endgame (If you haven’t seen it, then oops)

“Roxanne Alexander!” A voice called from the back of me.

“Yes?” Going over my notes for the interview with Jimmy Fallon, in my hands, I was nervous. Normally wasn’t nervous for my interviews, but that one meant big moments to come.

“You’re I’m in 15.” The producer, Katie Hockmeyer, smiled gingerly in my direction.

With a gentle nod, I practiced my breathing. Being an actress has always been a dream of mine. Only been in the game for a few years, 10 tops, I had a lot riding on these interviews.

I was recently in Avengers Infinity War and Endgame, as a fellow Dora Milaje. It was a fun job to have and soon, I’m gonna be in a new film which I can’t wait to start filming.

Hearing the theme song go off, I closed my eyes and let my feet do the walking as I got into position. This was going to be the interview of all interviews. To shoot my career even further, and make me a better actor.

Hearing my name being called by Jimmy, I got up on the stairs and walked on to the stage. The crowd was alive and well, to welcoming and warming. I felt at home.

“Roxanne Alexander. It is such a pleasure to finally have you on my show.”

“Jimmy, the feeling is mutual. Out of all the interviews I’ve had, or will have, I’m sure this one will be my favorite.”

The audience was eating this up so much. The conversation kept going; the energy was live and the vibes were right. Talking about my family; my pets, my friends, I’ve kept along the way and so much more.

Jimmy‘s smile lit up. “Ok! So I know everyone is dying to know about your endeavors. How did you get to where you are now? How did you career start?”

“It all started when I graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, class of ‘99. Boston gal born and raised. I did a few plays in school, I didn’t go to college until I was 21. Had what most would call a “Grace period” and went to Howard.”

“Howard? Nice! I know a few grey actors that went there.” He nodded in my direction to continue.

Explaining my journey always made me tear up a bit. I went through so much with trying to find myself; prove myself and just go on this journey of self discovery.

“After I graduated college in 2007, I went on another few years off; seven to be exact. I had my bachelors degree in theatre arts and a minor in business management.”

“Booked and busy. You go girl.” I couldn’t help but chuckle at Jimmy’s remake and high fived him.

I shrugged with a smile. “Have to be. I started a business venture called Cairo and The Nile, which is a skin and hair care line for natural hair. I’ve done a few movies, and a series, back when I graduated from Howard. I was also a Dallas Cowboy cheerleader for 2 years, from 2014 to 2016. That’s when I went back to school for business in Dallas.”

“I went to school while a dancer, with an acting background. Within the last five years I’ve done a few movies as well, which I know you’ve all seen.”

“Of course! Just to name a few Gods of Egypt, Pacific Rim 2: Uprising, Venom, Black Panther, Avengers Infinity War as a Dora Milaje and Avengers Endgame. Along with some before those: Color Me Crazy, Meet at Midnight, The Get Down, Cards on Deck and Dear White People.” He nodded with a smile, while the audience cheered with enthusiasm.

“So, inquiring minds want to know: how did you get to be apart of Marvel first 10 years? And what can you tell us about Endgame?”

Smiling from ear to ear, I sighed happily. “Well like any other actor I sent in my audition tape and it went very well from there. But yet, I got a little push from a good friend of mine who just so happens to be in the films as well. So it worked out for us both.”

“As for Endgame, all of us don’t know. We all don’t rehearse together. All we do is come in; read what they give us, do the scenes and go home. With breaks in between. Because Holland and Ruffalo can’t keep their mouths shut. So the Dora Milaje and I including Okoye, I love you Danai! Know nothing.” With a gut busting chuckle, I felt tears spilling over my eyes.

“Dang, well I tried.” With a shrug, we both laughed.

“Good friend you say? Who is this good friend?” Jimmy leaned in close over his desk, arching a brow.

“Well he’s been my best friend since we were kids. We met at age 4; our mothers are best friends from college. The bond between our families is tighter than ever and just full of love.”

He tapped his chin in curiosity “Tight bond; Boston kids, mothers are still college best friends?”

“Mhm. Tight like glue on a lace front, as I’d put it and I’d get a weird expression from him.” Laughing a bit at the memory in my head. The audience seemed to like it too, so I got more comfortable.

“I got nothing. You gotta give us some clues or just tell us. We’re dying to know.”

“Now jimmy, where’s the fun in telling you? But I do have a little story to the day I became a DCC.” Smirking a little, I winked at the camera.

He pretended to be hurt, with a gasp “Ouch, Roxanne. I am hurt.”

“Do you wanna know how upset my best friend was when I told him, I was a DCC? I’m sure you’ll guess who he is. It leads up to us both starring, in an up an upcoming film, called Married at First Sight. Y’all should go see it.” Shameless plug.

“I’ll give it a shot, I have so many people in mind. How upset was he?”

“He’s a true Patriots fan. Like hardcore, and when I told him I made the cheer team he was filming another film. He didn’t talk to me for 2 weeks.” The audience gasped, causing me to shrug and chuckle. That day I told Chris was hilarious cause that following day, we went to lunch and then it started.

“Two weeks, two solid weeks. I can’t go that long without talking to my wife. I bet it was hard.”

I nodded a bit. “It was hard cause we talk everyday.”

“Childhood friend. Boston born and raised. Hardcore Pats fan.” He gathered all the info he had.

“Mhm.” I couldn’t help but grin like the Cheshire cat.

“Oh!! Roxanne, is your best friend is Chris Evans!”

“Ding ding!”

His facial expression was priceless, the audience loved it even more. This is the first interview I’ve had someone ask about my best friend and how we’ve stayed so close this long. There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do for Chris, and vice versa.

Jimmy let out a cheerful exclamation. “That is amazing. 30 plus years of friendship and you’re still tighter than ever. Any nicknames?”

“Never better. We have our moments, but we come back every time. With our characters in Marvel it’s been a nickname I’ve had since we met, which I’m auditioning for one actually. He calls me Ororo Munroe, who is the badass Storm from X-Men, and Of course call him Steve Rogers. Never saw one without the other.” The thought of us breaking up our friendship hurt more than anything. We go to each other for everything and sometimes, I can’t tell him everything. Like the crush I have had on him since we were young.

“Munroe and Rogers. I like it, cause like another detective show. Can’t wait for the new movie to come out, will be on the lookout for the trailers. Anything you wanna say to the audience or your best friend?”

“Of course.” Turning towards the camera I smiled gently. “If you’re watching this like I told you to, then you’re already on the right track. Most of the time you don’t ‘wike it’ when I tell you to do things. Oh well! That’s what best friends are for right? I’ll see you soon, Evans!”

“Roxanne Alexander, ladies and gentleman! Thank you for coming. We’ll be right back after this break!” Shaking his hand, I waved the audience as the music sounded to the commercial.

The director yelled out to us all. “And we’re clear! 10 min everybody.”

Heading back to my little room noticing that my phone was blowing up with Instagram; Snapchat and Twitter. So much love from the fans and even a text from Chris.

“Oh shit. What did he say.”

Chris: Saw the interview today! You did amazing as always Rox, and great job plugging the movie too. Gotta get all the exposure out there.

Heartfelt. So far so good. I wonder if he’s free today.

Me: thank you bud! Means a lot to me to hear you say that.

Chris: any time. Say wanna catch up sometime this week? Sight see in LA?

Chilling with my best friend, or with the family? I’m always with my family or my other friends, and so now I think it’s best to chill with Chris. Which I never do outside of rehearsal.

Me: I’m free today and a few days this week actually. Aside from rehearsals and more interviews.

The drive to my LA apartment was a breeze. Normally it’s be hell in traffic but not this time around. Upon making it home, I saw the Boston boy in all his glory, in front of my driveway. Sending a goofy face my way, he moved to the left a bit.

I couldn’t help but chuckle at the goofy string bean, parking the car in the garage. “You just can’t help yourself huh? You love being in my way.”

“What can I say? I love messing with you Munroe.” Showing off his cheesy grin, he welcomed me with a hug. It was as if he lived there and was happy to see me home. If only it was real.

“Ha ha, very funny Rogers. So where’s my son, can’t have ya home without- Dodger! There’s my boy!”

Giving the beagle some love, along with receiving them, I managed to hug him as well.

A pouty Chris emerges. “Why don’t I get a hug like that?”

“You on top of me, would cause a lot of controversy and issues my dude.” Arching a brow at him, we headed inside and for comfy.

He mumbled under his breath. “You sure about that?”

“You say something?”

“Nah. Just uh, so wanna do Disneyland tomorrow? I hear Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is open”

“Yeah we can do that. Oh and Lune is in her room, which Dodger found easily.”

Glancing at the two dogs in the little space under the staircase, we both smiled happily.

Clapping my hands together, I gave the Boston boy a look. “Happy dogs. Alright Evans, couch or bed?”

“Bed. The Mummy with Brendan Fraser, or Tom-”

“Fraser, no contest. Matching pjs, or just underwear?” We tend to finish each other’s sentences and it never gets old.

“Matching. This time, my old title.”

“Old title? What do you mean? Chris no way…”

“You don’t know?!” His face was hysterical. He got dressed in my walk in closet, as I changed in the bathroom. After a quick shower of course. Heading downstairs to make popcorn, I had to pull myself together.

“No! They didn’t tell the Dora’s nothing. Danai couldn’t tell me shit! Let me guess, Sam gets it?”

The look on his face as he saw me in my Captain America leggings and matching tank top, was blissful. I’ve never seen that look before. He looks damn good in his sweatpants too, along with being shirtless at that.

Snapping out of his trance, he nodded eagerly upon flopping on my king sized bed.

“Yes he does, and it’s a beautiful send off to Steve. You came into my trailer that one day when I was getting prospects done remember?”

Passing him the bowl of extra buttered popcorn, I slid next to him and grabbed the remote to program Netflix.

“Yeah. That’s what it’s for? Now I’m intrigued. Need a date for premier?” Finding the movie, I paused it for a second, pulling my curly hair into a high puff. I caught him staring at me.

“Why yes. Yes I do actually, would you like to go with me?”

“Why are you staring at me like that? Besides, I’d be insulted if you didn’t ask, I was going anyway.” With a shrug I played the movie and grabbed a handful of popcorn.

“I can’t look at my best friend without their being an ulterior motive? Don’t hog all the corn now.” Snatching the bowl from me, he got some on the bed.

“Nope! What would your girlfriend think? You’re cleaning that up, slov.” Throwing some at him, made it worse, seeing as though it caused a popcorn fight.

“Why bring her up? You two need to have a sit down, and chat. I can’t have the two most important women in my life hating each other.” He threw it back at me and tackled me down.

“Your mother and I get along fine thank you.”

“You know what I mean.”

“Yeah yeah. I’m sorry. Let’s get back get back movie.”

“Oh, and I’m the slob? Says the one with candy wrappers on her dresser.” He pressed played on Netflix and cuddled me. Strictly platonic.

“My house; my room, my rules. Fine I’ll talk to her, you better catch her if she steps out of line.”

Hearing him stifle a laugh, he pinched my arm, which ricocheted into me thumping his head.

“Funny. Let’s watch the first 2, cause the China one made zero sense and the Scorpion King.

The marathon led to us both drifting to sleep, cuddled around each other.

Days like this never got old, and I hope they never change. Yet there’s always a few people who want to see you fall, and that person and I never got along when it came to Chris.

Who is your favorite character in 2?

In FMA, it would have to be Alphonse. I've always loved him, even back when I first read the manga in high school. He's so sweet and kind, but also a badass, and I love him!

Who is your least favorite character in 1?

This might seem obvious, but grape boy aka Mineta. Other than him, probably Endeavor.

What is your favorite episode of 4?

For Bob's Burgers, that would probably be the season 4 finale where Bob tries to convince Mr. Fishoeder to sell the wharf, then ends up realizing that's a bad idea and almost gets killed by Felix. That's technically two episodes, but I love the plot and I love the songs in both episodes.

What is your favorite season of 5?

That would probably be Supernatural season 3, cuz it has great episodes like the Goatman's Shane Madej's Bridge, the Viaduct Tavern, the London Tombs, and the UFO crash in Roswell.

Who is your favorite couple in 3?

Oh, ever since I was a teenager and super into Adventure Time, I've always loved Finn and Flame Princess. I even made fankids for them. I loved that ship.

What is your favorite episode of 1?

My favorite episode of BNHA is probably in season 2, Todoroki Shoto: Origin. I loved getting to learn more about Todoroki and seeing his and Midoriya's fight! Also, the start of Tododeku.

What is your favorite episode of 5?

Goatman's Bridge for sure. It's hilarious!

What is your favorite season of 2?

Hmmmmmmm, that's so hard cuz I love literally all of FMA. But if I had to choose, I'd say either the first or the last seasons. The first season really sets things up, and yeah there is Nina and Alexander and Mae's Hughes, but it does a great job of introducing a lot of the major characters and setting things up. The last season is great cuz that's when shit really goes down, and it's super epic to see everyone coming together for this epic battle, and then the ending is so sweet with showing how each of the characters go on with their lives!

How long have you watched 1?

Actually, I think I've only been watching BNHA for a little over a year. My friends and my gf got me into it, and I've loved it ever since! (I'm still trying to catch up in season 4, and I saw the episode where one of the heroes dies, which was quite upsetting. I won't say who in case of spoilers.)

How did you become interested in 3?

I remember I got into Adventure Time when it first came out when I was about 12. I saw the trailers for it on Cartoon Network and I thought it looked weird but I decided to give it a chance, and I ended up loving it.

Who is your favorite actor in 4?

Probably Kristin Schaal who plays Louise. Her character is hilarious, and I love how she delivers her lines. One of my favorite examples is in the episode where Mickey robs a bank and they're on the phone with him to negotiate, and Louise/Kristin Schaal can go from calmly and excitedly asking Mickey questions about crime, to yelling at the detective "That's my daddy in there! Let me talk!"

Which do you prefer: 1, 2, or 5?

BNHA, FMA, or BuzzFeed Unsolved..... if I had to go with one, probably FMA. I know I've been on a huge BNHA kick lately, but FMA will always be my favorite. It's got great writing, great characters and designs, the women aren't highly sexualized, the relationships between characters all feel so realistic, and it'll always hold a special place in my heart as my first anime. (Pokémon was technically my first anime, but I didn't know it was anime at the time.)

If you could be anyone from 4, who would it be?

Probably Louise. She's one of my favorites, and she's super funny and badass for a kid.

Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?

Between Adventure Time and Bob's Burgers...... I doubt it. Unless portals and time travel is possible I guess. The biggest issue I would see is that Adventure Time takes place in a post apocalyptic world, so Bob's Burgers would probably be long gone. Although it'd be funny to see the Bob's Burgers restaurant sign buried somewhere in the Land of Ooo as a cameo, or see Adventure Time show up on a TV in the background of Bob's Burgers.

Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?

Hmm, maybe Ling and Ed? They're good friends, even if they annoy each other sometimes, but I could see them possibly getting together.

Overall, which show has the best storyline: 3 or 5?

Well, considering the fact that BuzzFeed Unsolved doesn't technically have a storyline, then I'm gonna go with Adventure Time.

Which has better theme music: 2 or 4?

Fullmetal Alchemist for sure! The theme songs in FMA (both 2003 and Brotherhood, but especially Brotherhood imo) are all amazing! Yes, Bob's Burgers has some great bops, but this is asking about theme songs, so FMA wins it.
