Okay so I’m doing research for a fan fiction I’m writing, and I just found out that there is a section of Shinjuku that is considered the “gay district” and Izaya lives in Shinjuku. It’s obviously a coincidence, but bro, come ON 😂 Not a part of the show, but evidence to him being queer coded.
So I’m rewatching Durarara because I’m currently working on a Shizaya fic and some of the shit Izaya says has me writing down proof that this dude is gay as fuck. Even if nothing is explicitly said in cannon, he is 100% queer coded. If anyone wants to see my receipts, I’m writing them down in my notes app as I keep watching the series 😂

Write the story you want to write
It's ok if your story is predictable. Not every work of fiction needs to reinvent the wheel.
There's a reason that tropes exist, and it's because readers enjoy them and they make compelling stories. As long as the journey is fun, readers will come along for the ride.

There is no one size fits all for writing advise, or what a good story looks like. Believe in your self and love your work.

To the writer who needs to hear it…
YES. Your story DOES matter. It wouldn’t exist without you. You are in charge of bringing it to life because other writers don’t possess your style / voice. You are the only person capable of creating your story.
You are an unique, creative, worthy human being. Go show the world what you’re capable of.

My newest novel was missing a a few important elements to make it the best version of itself that it can be. One was certain traits to deepen the main character so something I did was make him a poet. While he is struggling to come to terms with his identity, he uses poetry to sort through those emotions. This is one he wrote about the man he finds himself falling for.

ways to start writing more efficiently
stop writing with the word count on!
use a font like comic sans -- trick your brain into thinking that it's not important, that the writing can be stupid, if it's in a stupid font (if you can't tell i despise comic sans)
time yourself to get to a goal
or give yourself a certain amount of time
quantity >> quality in the first draft(s)!
jot down what you want to happen in that chapter
try organizing your writing (nanowrimo, for example)
do *not* reread! it doesn't need to make sense, it just needs to be there
try not to stick yourself to something you saw on tumblr. what works for someone else doesn't necessarily work for you!
take breaks. time those breaks.
practice writing short stories / oneshots of your characters.
try getting all your writing done within a certain goal (as much as I can for 30 minutes) rather than writing 5 minutes on or off
write down every little wormy idea that comes into your brain! sure, it's probably for a different plot, but maybe you can work it in somehow?
on that note, mash elements of your plots together rather than starting a whole new story
see maybe what little writing competitions you can submit your work to
proclaim your goal to the wide web for some peer pressure
rewards yourself. cheer on every thousand-word milestone. brag to your friends that you've written something, anything.
don't think of the big goal—don't think of publishing, or posting, etc. think of the end of your chapter, the development of your character, where it goes.
switch your writing environment! where are you most productive?
make a playlist only for when you write. never for anything else.
getting off tumblr, probably.
have people remind you of your goals.
remember that it all comes with discipline, but also your mental health is the most important!! don't sacrifice half your sleep to meet your nanowrimo goals. try to recognize when it's taking you too long and close the document. do something else. come back later.
take care of yourself. <3 use this post as a breather (or reminder to start!)

The moment when you forgot that you wrote something and you read it again and it's actually so good. Like, wow, that person who wrote this is a good writer.
