So you want to learn about Louisiana Voodoo…
door in New Orleans by Jean-Marcel St. Jacques
For better or worse (almost always downright wrong) Louisiana Voodoo and Hoodoo are likely to come up in any depiction of the state of Louisiana. I’ve created a list of works on contemporary and historical Voodoo/Hoodoo for anyone who’d like to learn more about what this tradition is and is not (hint: it developed separately from Haitian Vodou which is its own thing) or would like to depict it in a non-stereotypical way. I’ve listed them in chronological order. Please keep a few things in mind. Almost all sources presented unfortunately have their biases. As ethnographies Hurston’s work no longer represent best practices in Anthropology and has been suspected of embellishment and sensationalism on this topic. Additionally the portrayal is of the religion as it was nearly 100 years ago- all traditions change over time. Likewise Teish is extremely valuable for providing an inside view into the practice but certain views, as on Ancient Egypt, may be offensive now. I have chosen to include the non-academic works by Alvarado and Filan for the research on historical Voodoo they did with regards to the Federal Writer’s Project that is not readily accessible, HOWEVER, this is NOT a guide to teach you to practice this closed tradition, and again some of the opinions are suspect- DO NOT use sage, which is part of Native practice and destroys local environments. I do not support every view expressed but think even when wrong these sources present something to be learned about the way we treat culture
*Start with Osbey, the shortest of the works. To compare Louisiana Voodoo with other traditions see the chapter on Haitian Vodou in Creole Religions of the Caribbean by Olmos and Paravinsi-Gebert. Additionally many songs and chants were originally in Louisiana Creole (different from the Louisiana French dialect), which is now severely endangered. You can study the language in Ti Liv Kreyol by Guillery-Chatman et. Al.

Pride Event 2024
Hello everyone, as you may have figured out I am a queer trans writer, and therefore I want to do something for Pride month this year. I want to write a bunch of LGBTQIA fics to post throughout the month of June, and so hopefully that’s where all of you lovelies come in. If you wish please send in Lgbtqia requests for any of the characters I listed in this post, as long as it’s lgbtq I’ll see what I can do with it. This post will have a list of characters I will write for during this event, as well as a list of rules for the event. So without further ado please join me in prepping for Pride month and consider requesting. everything is under the keep reading to no clog the dash.
Rules: (rules for event will differ slightly from my regular rules)
Please have some kind of plot when requesting, not just character & fluff, I need more to work with

Avec une salve de tweets, OpenSea a annoncé qu'à partir du 31 août, le marché passera aux frais optionnels pour les créateurs NFT.
À partir du 31 août, nous allons :– Mettre fin au filtre d'opérateur OpenSea– Passer aux frais de créateur facultatifs sur toutes les ventes secondaires pour les nouvelles collections– Améliorer la visibilité des paramètres de frais de créateur et des listes côté acheteur et vendeurPlus ci-dessous :– OpenSea (@opensea) 17 août 2023
"Nous avons lancé notre filtre d'opérateur pour permettre aux créateurs de limiter les ventes secondaires aux marchés Web3 qui facturent des frais de création. Mais nous nous sommes appuyés sur l'opt-in de l'ensemble de l'écosystème, ce que nous n'avons pas fait. Nous apportons donc quelques changements à notre approche des frais de création. À partir du 31 août : – Le filtre Opérateur OpenSea sera défini ; – Mise à niveau vers des tarifs créateurs optionnels sur toutes les ventes secondaires de nouvelles collections ; – Optimisez la visibilité du créateur et les paramètres de taux d'inscription côté acheteur et vendeur.
En pratique, OpenSea a précisé que pour les collections existantes utilisant actuellement le Filtre Opérateur (jusqu'au 31 août), les tarifs créateurs désignés sur OpenSea s'appliqueront jusqu'au 29 février 2024. Après cette date, les tarifs créateurs seront facultatifs.
Il en va de même pour toutes les collections NFT existantes sur toutes les blockchains non Ethereum.
Enfin, pour toutes les nouvelles collections, les commissions pour les créateurs NFT seront facultatives à partir du 31 août.
De plus, OpenSea met aussi à jour l'interface utilisateur pour ajouter un filtre à la page de collecte afin d'aider les acheteurs à rechercher des annonces qui paient le tarif préférentiel du créateur. Pour les vendeurs, toutefois, OpenSea essaie de vous permettre de choisir plus facilement le tarif préféré du créateur ou de définir votre propre tarif personnalisé au moment de l'inscription.
OpenSea : la place de marché NFT supprime le Filtre Opérateur
Comme souligné dans son article de blog, OpenSea a voulu préciser que le filtre de l'opérateur ne fonctionnait pas, en décrivant les raisons.
L'Operator Filer est essentiellement un outil conçu pour donner plus de contrôle aux créateurs en limitant la vente de leurs collections aux marchés Web3 qui facturent des frais aux créateurs sur les ventes secondaires.
Lancé en novembre 2022, l'outil en chaîne est un simple extrait de code que les créateurs peuvent ajouter à leurs contrats NFT. De cette façon, OpenSea n'appliquerait des frais de création que pour les nouvelles collections à l'aide d'un outil d'application en chaîne.
Cela aurait limité les ventes de NFT aux marchés qui facturent des frais de création, bloquant la négociation de ces NFT sur les marchés qui sont cotés sur des marchés à redevance zéro ou à redevance facultative.
De plus, en décembre 2022, OpenSea avait aussi intégré la supervision du Filtre Opérateur du CORI – Creators Ownership Research Institute.
Ce serait un groupe d'sociétés comme OpenSea, Nifty Gateway, Zora, Manifold, SuperRare et Foundation qui auraient utilisé un portefeuille multi-signatures pour apporter des modifications à ce registre.
Toutefois, moins d'un an après son introduction, ce filtre d'opérateur aurait fonctionné si tous les membres de l'écosystème web3 avaient donné le consentement requis. Ce qui, toutefois, ne s'est pas produit.
Intégration réseau Zora
Le mois dernier, OpenSea a annoncé avoir ajouté la prise en charge du réseau Zora, une nouvelle chaîne conçue pour minimiser les coûts pour les créateurs et mieux soutenir les médias et la culture de la chaîne.
Cette annonce est intervenue deux semaines seulement après le lancement de Zora, qui a eu lieu exactement le 21 juin.
Pourtant, le réseau Zora est déjà pris en charge par plus de 45 plates-formes, dont Sound, Mint.Fun, Galley, Highlight et Rainbow.

Leaked Document Reveals Future Corvette Models
Ever since rumors began circulating that the 8th generation Chevrolet Corvette would be mid-engine, enthusiasts have speculated about what performance variants might be available. Now that the mid-engine Corvette is a reality, some of the speculation and rumors have been proven true, thanks to a leaked document that lays out the C8 Corvette’s future. It should come as no surprise that a Corvette Z06 is on the way, expected in 2022. The Z06 will feature a 5.5-liter dual-overhead cam V8 engine, capable of 650 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque. That will be followed in 2023 by the Grand Sport which will boast the same 6.2-liter LT2 V8 engine in the base Stingray, but may also feature a hybrid system that adds 105 horsepower to the base 495 hp. 2024 should bring us the ZR1, with Z06’s 5.5-liter DOHC V8, but with a twin-turbo system that boosts power to 850 hp and 825 lb-ft of torque. The ZR1 has traditionally been the top-of-the-line Corvette, but rumors and this document suggest that another variant named Zora, after early Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, could produce a whopping 1,000 hp and 975 lb-ft of torque thanks to a hybridized version of the LT7 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8.
