I am sometimes surprised and outrageous by people pointing the finger só easily at small things that they perceive differently and be silent or quiet at big problems around them or even looking at themselves! I'm just saying one thing. Of all of us.... ALL of us, YOU were the one who dedicated the most time YEARS -DECADES, had the most patience (countdown the minutes of the 2 years without premieres? ) and fought for each series, each Anna Torv's work(things like uniting fans, posting videos, talking about her, supporting her unconditionally... Fauxlivia is still your protégé, right?🤭and fighting Helen Dale dont stop )... and for me it is extremely commendable and I admire you immensely for never stopping fighting and share Anna Torv!

Honestly, I am genuinely at a lost as to why some people get so mad and unforgiving over honest mistakes, especially when I mean it when I say I never meant any harm, and will listen and change my behavior if it's not appropriate. I have been in this fandom for a very long time, and I've always tried my best to be nice, and to do better when I can do better. And anyone who takes the time to actually get to know me at all, unlike those people who have honestly been very closed-off from the start, knows that I'm the opposite of an asshole, and that my life motto literally is 'let's be kind and show empathy'.
I swear twitter puts a negativity filter on everyone's brain, they expect the worst of everyone. The fact that they thought I'd sent people after them to 'harass' them, when I wasn't even aware of what was going on until my friend reached out to me to tell me about it, at which point said friend had already gotten involved, just baffles me. I'm a 36 year old adult with bad social anxiety, I live my life hoping to avoid drama or situations in which people will get angry at me in any way. The last thing I would ever think to do is have that kind of vindictive behavior, especially about something I knew I could have handled better. But you can't have conversations with the twitter crowd, you just can't. They will assume the worst of you and that's it.
I haven't been on twitter for a couple weeks now, except to post fic links for my followers who care about them, and honestly, I don't know if I'll be back, not when there are a few people who seem to enjoy scrutinizing the things I do or say.
I still want to do the Anna project because I want her to receive love from her fans, but my anxiety about this is too high at the moment, and my brain a bit too unkind.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I love reading your works and seeing at the detail and effort you clearly put into it! As someone who has only had the chance to see the movies (a disgrace, I know lol), your works add extra layers to Thranduil that make him more rounded out for me. And I hope you don't mind if I borrow some of them, for when i write my own Thranduil fic eventually. I always get so excited to see when you post something!

It also makes me so happy and motivated to hear that people even accept or agree with my Thranduil headcanons, much less want to use them. I spend an embarrassingly large amount of time doing research, imagining, theorizing, and overall just obsessing about the Elvenking, so it's gratifying to know that all that work I put into it can actually be useful to someone else.
Even though I write for other Tolkien characters, Thranduil will always be my favorite character to write for; I am very passionate about the version of him I have fleshed out in my headcanons and stories. Helena realizing that she is allowed to want, and to have, happiness. Myka realizing that she is allowed to want, and to have, happiness! They've both been dealt really harsh cards by life, and I love to give them love and care and support, not just from each other, but from a wider circle of found family as well. And whenever I get to describe a scene that shows them realizing that, 🥺
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh? (2)
I'm very proud of this line I put in Helena's mouth: “Well, it’s not as if they hadn’t imagined our bedroom activities long before there ever were any.”
😈 Has there been a point in a story where you did something just to be playfully mean to your readers? (3)
I love cliffhangers, both at chapter endings and at fic endings when it's a series! And then wait a week (or, in And Now You, till the events of the next chapter, because I posted that fic in "real time", as it were) until the next chapter goes up. I'm glad my readers are still bearing with me ☺
✍ Do you have a beta reader? (4)
Several! And one of them I even married! 😁 No, but seriously - I find the feedback of beta readers invaluable, not just because English is my second language but because I get too close to the prose (oh wow, unintentional rhyme, nice of you to drop by!), and need an outside eye to tell me if I'm still going in the right direction.
🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write? (5)
I use good ol' MS Word. With a chapter index, and the new(ish) function of "jump back to where you left off last time", it really works for me. I write pretty much entirely linear, and use a different document for ideas and outline, and a third document for outtakes that might still turn out to be useful down the line, and all of that is straightforward enough to work in Word. I've tried Scrivener, but for me it didn't have enough advantages over what I was already used to in order to really (want to) dive into it and make it mine. With my betas, I use Google Docs and comments, but especially for multichapter fic, that is SO SLOW! And sometimes I write short fic right here on Tumblr, in the app.

Well, I met my wife through my fics, so yes 😁 but even beyond that, a few of my family and friends know. However, none of them (AFAIK) read a lot of fic in general, nor my fic in particular; most of them aren't English readers, OR geeks.

Y'know, I just checked, and my ratings ranking is "Teen and up" 20 works, "General" 19, "Explicit" 17!, and "Mature" 4. 😂 so yeah, I do write the spicy stuff! Both as parts of the larger narrative (the most popular of which is And Now You), and as PWP (here the most popular is 24th century t...echnology, a Beverly/Kathryn fic). I gotta say I do love me some good smut. And I hope mine meets the bill!
💲 Would you ever open commissions? (8)
I only write fan fic, not original, so no. I am fiercely protective of AO3, and I will protect their integrity one hundred percent. I don't seek to monetize my writing, anyway - it's a pastime, it is fun, and I want it to stay that way. I am lucky in that I don't need any side hustles, and hey, no shade to those who do find (legal, non-harmful-for-the-larger-fanfic-community) ways to make money from writing, but I also hate hate hate that capitalism has come to the point where some people think you gotta derive money from something somehow for it to be worthwhile, or where people see no other choice than to try, in order to make their ends meet. I write for fun. I am privileged to be able to write for fun. So no, no commissions. But hey, sometimes I do prompts, and I love taking part in gift exchanges! So if you ever wanna get something written by me, just let me know and if it tickles my muse, you might get it!
🎃 Do you write fics for certain holidays? Which is your favorite holiday inspired fic? (9)
Yes, I really like doing that! I have a winter holidays fic, a Halloween fic, a Pride fic, and I have another idea on the backburner for another winter holidays fic; no clue when I'll ever get to writing it, but I'll get there some day! As for favorites, the Halloween fic really kicked my ass, so it won't make that list, and the other two are tied!
🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants? (10)
So I never really "learned" how to write? In that I never had any kind of instruction in creative writing, I mean. I didn't even know there was such a thing as outlining, or what different writing processes looked like. I would just open a new Word doc and go forth! So yes, I started out a pantser - but lately I'm working with a writing coach, and have looked into writing styles and strategies in other ways too, and I'm realizing that outlining fits me a little better. I'm in a weird in-between phase right now where I have, like, half a dozen WIPs that were started pantser fashion but where I'm trying to outline how the rest of the fic might go; it's fascinating! (and talking with other writers has been immeasurably helpful for those!)
🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success? (11)
If I am happy with it. Sure, I like kudos, and hits, and comments (especially comments! When someone says "this fic is like a warm comfy blanket" or "I've read this four times at least"? Priceless!) but those are the icing, not the cake. I am immensely proud of Angel, Sinner, Dragonslayer, for example, both for the story itself and for the craft of it, but that one isn't even in the Top 15 by kudos or the Top 20 by hits. And for me to love a fic or to consider it good, those benchmarks don't matter. They make me happy, don't get me wrong - I love hearing if my fics reverberate with people, if they make them happy, if they make them feel all the feels, if people think the smut is hot, etc. etc. - but on my opinion of my fic, they have no impact.
⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter? (12)
When the muse hits me, when that holy trifecta of inspiration, motivation and time comes together, I can easily write 10,000 words in a day. It's not that I struggle to get words on the page; it's more that the days when that trifecta hits are rare. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was extremely prolific even by my own standards; writing was my way of coping. That has dropped a little bit, alas. Writing is still my happy place, my way of escaping the current hellscape and hang out with my favorite characters, but my energy has definitely been sapped by *gestures at everything*. Add to that that I only ever publish a fic when it's done, and not as I go (god, that idea scares me) (yes even when I publish it week by week; it's all written and done, I just enjoy torturing you by drawing it out), and you see why there's sometimes a long time between fic drops from me.
💥 How do you feel about criticism? 💌 How do you feel about comments and feedback? (13)
Ah! Feedback is a passion of mine. I can take something from almost any kind of comment - even if it is "this commenter has no idea and isn't engaging in good faith". And I always seek to improve my craft, and for that a comment like "this is a bit weak on plot, innit?" is really helpful! Especially if on top of "bit weak" I get given ideas how it could be stronger. Like I said, I never had any training in creative writing, so I am in many ways still learning and will continue to learn for the rest of my life, and I can only do that when I know where I still have room to grow. A bit of background here: I'm a social worker by training, and work in quality management now. I literally thrive in trying to improve things along any number of axes, and that is simply not possible without criticism. So hey, if you have always wanted to point out to me all the ways in which my stuff could be better, by all means reach out and let me know!
❌ What's a trope you will never write? (14)
Grimdark. Or even tragedy. I might take my characters to very dark places, but there will always be light at the end; there will always be a happy ending. Also, man-hating lesbians. Also, mlm. Yes, I'm a woman and yes, I write fanfic, but I write femslash, not slash. 🤷♀️ There might be a mlm couple somewhere in the background, sure, because I love including all kinds of queer people in my fics, but my muse just isn't tickled by mlm. As a matter of fact, my muse has pointed due Bering and Wells for the last five years or so? So yeah.
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please! (15)
Man, I need to revive the posts in which I talk about my WIPs! Okay, here goes: I'm still working on Strata Part 2 with my beta, and also on Mind Over Matter Part 2. The Pirate fic is a bit on the back burner right now, because I have more inspiration for MOM2 at the moment. I finally have an idea for how to bring it to a good end (thanks, @anandabrat!), and that is the kind of iron you have to hit while it's hot! It'll be from Helena's POV, and show her journey towards a relationship. It's funny how an actual A/B/O fic, that started out with Bering and Wells having, like, the hottest sex ever (offpage though), has turned into one of the slowest burns I've ever written! 😅
Okay, that was a lot!!! And I loved every moment of it!

OMG y’all stop your going to make me cry with all this love and support on my first ever fan fiction post 🥹👊🏾:
 I was so so nervous to post my first ever fanfic on a public platform like this and I did not expect this response!!
This has always been something I have wanted to do and thought about for the longest time now, but I always have held myself back, and I can gladly say, I have finally did it! 🤪👍
I want to shout out @dalgihwa and @citronmingi for the re-post! I hope that you guys re posting my story is your way of telling me that you really enjoyed it. (Btw please feel free to leave. Any comments in the comment section or message me privately about how you felt about the story. This helps me have room for improvement as a novice writer, and also it helps me figure out your interest as an audience!)
My imagination stays on overdrive 🤣, so I want to let y’all know that I do have more stories to put out there and share for you all to enjoy! I’ve already made outlines and written ideas about the kind of stories. I want to share about each member. Right now I’m strictly doing Ateez content because that’s my old group and really the only group that I know really well.
That being said, I have only have outlined written, ideas, short fics, and series, regarding them as fictional characters with you the reader. I will be coming out with prequels of pre written stories and I want you guys to like or comment on those prequels so I know if it’s a story of your interest!
Again, I appreciate all the love and repost and support, and I hope this new journey of me being a blogger turns out for the best! Do you have advice for new fan fic writers wanting to start posting?
hello love! 🥰 absolutely! tbh I still feel like a new writer myself considering I only started writing when I made this tumblr which is a year ago, and especially because my blog hasn’t grown as much as others, I feel like I’m still learning all this stuff myself too! 😊
this might be a little bit long bc I’ll be relating to my own experiences and what I’ve learned :) any writers please add on if you feel I’ve missed something! 😋
firstly, write what you want to write! don’t force ideas/requests.
your best work will come when you’re writing something that you’re excited to write. if someone sends a request, it’s okay to say that nothing is coming to mind, or think on it and come back at a later time (I still have requests in my inbox from like 7 months ago and they’re developing into full length fics (think 20k+) because I liked the idea and wanted to give time to it and now I’m really excited to write them too! that said, sometimes forcing ideas has worked for me (talk slow for example), but it’s how you feel in the moment. (now see how I linked my work just there, that is shameless self promo bc u might decide to check it out — remember this for my last point ;)
take your time! if you’re stuck, come back to it a few hours/days/weeks/more later.
following on from the first point, taking your time can be one of the most valuable things to do. sometimes all you need is a little break to figure out the missing piece from your work. if you’ve got writers block, work on a different wip/take requests, whatever works for you.
if you’re struggling to stay motivated, try: making a playlist/moodboard/banner for your fic or read something instead of writing!
pretty self explanatory, but sometimes we need visual creativity to come into play and help us craft our world so we can write it in words. and reading other fics can help you when you see the way another writer writes — their style/format, and I’ve noticed that almost every writer on this app has something unique in their writing that I can’t always put a finger on, but when I read it, it literally makes me go “yeah, I wanna go and work on my fic now.” — that I can’t explain 😂

say you get two fics written in two weeks and you don’t know when your next one will be/it’ll be at least a few weeks until the next one, whatever it is, I’d recommend spacing it out. post one fic first, and when the exposure on that starts going down, then post the second one. and queue your rb’s — remember we’re all on different time/schedules so at 2pm on wednesday you might be asleep while I’m awake, or one week you might be busy on a saturday but another saturday you’re scrolling through tumblr, so, my last point….
reblog your own work without shame! it’s yours, be proud of it! I’m still learning to do this myself but rb’s are important so do it :) + self promo!!! if someone is asking for recs, send your own fic! I have and I’ve been embarrassed to do it but they asked! but don’t do it if they’re not asking bc some authors don’t like it, it can feel forceful/ uncomfortable for them to say no.

Pilot/Episode 1: Patching Things Up With Pastiche & Fanfiction
Hi, hello, and the wait is finally over! My name is Blessie, and welcome to the first episode webisode log installation I've decided to call these things an episode for now because why not also let me know what do you actually call these things episode of The Science of Fanfiction, where we take a closer look into our beloved works of fanon because we've all got plenty of time to spare till Season 5. Before I continue, I would like to thank everyone who's liked and reblogged the last few posts before this one. It means a lot for a small and growing Tumblr user like me, and your support is something I cherish more than my modules. You guys rock!
Anyways, like with most things, we have to talk about the boring and bland stuff before we proceed with the fun stuff. For today, we are going to settle the difference between a couple of things: first being the confusion between pastiche and fanfiction; then the distinctions between tropes, clichés, and stereotypes, which we'll tackle the next time. It's important for us to establish their true meanings in order for us to really understand what fanfiction truly is, even if it's merely just a work done for the fandom. I know – it's boring, it's something that shouldn't be expounded that much, but I believe that all forms of writing (unless it's plagiarised) is a work of art — and fanfiction is not something we always talk about. I hope that by the end of this, you'll learn about what they really are as much as I did. Let's begin to talk about the—

So, just as with Sherlock Holmes, all other works of fiction have their own pastiches and fanfiction, and many more original works out there have taken inspiration from them to create their own books. Although they've gained popular attention, this will not be possible if they did not have taken inspiration from the materials their writers had at the time.

For instance, Bram Stoker's 'Dracula' (the second most adapted literary character, next to the consulting detective himself) has been portrayed on the screen over 200 times — from Gary Oldman to Adam Sandler — and has spawned off numerous books and pastiches of its own such as Stephen King's 'Salem's Lot'. Its cultural impact served as a basis of how we see vampires today, since some characteristics of the Count were made by Stoker himself. Stoker's creation is the brainchild of his predecessors and inspirations.

Other than the ongoing hysteria over dead back then and the existing vampire folklore, Stoker also took his inspirations from the published books on vampires he had at hand. He is said to have taken inspiration from Vlad the Impaler, a Romanian national hero known allegedly for having impalement as his favourite method of torture. He is also said to have been inspired by the J. Sheridan Le Fanu's 'Carmilla', a Gothic lesbian vampire novella that predates Dracula by 26 years. I could go on, but hey, we're going back to Sherlock Holmes now before I deviate any further. However, if you want to know about Dracula's literary origins, I suggest you watch Ted-ED's videos about the subject matter such as this one or this one.
Very much like Stoker, ACD didn't just conceive Holmes on his own. He took his own inspirations from what he had available at the time.

As we all know, ACD's biggest inspiration for Sherlock Holmes was one of his teachers at the Edinburgh University, Joseph Bell. He was famous for his powers of deduction, and he was also interested in forensic science — both characteristics which Holmes is greatly known for. He also drew inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe's sleuth, C. Auguste Dupin ('The Purloined Letter' & 'Murders in Rue Morgue'). As ACD himself has said at the 1909 Poe Centennial Dinner: "Where was the detective story until Poe breathed life into it?" Some other writers he took after are Wilkie Collins, Émile Gaboriau, and Oscar Wilde.
Now, what does this say about us Sherlockians/Holmesians (depending if you're the coloniser or the one that was colonised)? Basically, ACD laid the groundwork for us with Sherlock Holmes: his humble abode 221B that he shares with his flatmate Dr. John Watson, his adventures, memoirs, return, casebook, last vow, and all that. Now that we have this material at hand, we can now make our own versions, takes, or even original stories featuring the characters of the Canon. Our inspiration comes from ACD's Sherlock Holmes, and we now get the chance to make our very own stories/conspiracy theories about them.
As I have mentioned earlier, Sherlock Holmes is the most adapted literary character in history. He has been adapted in over 200 films, more than 750 radio adaptations, a ballet, 2 musicals; and he's become a mouse, a woman, a dog, even a bloody cucumber. On top of all that are numerous pastiches and fanfics, and finally, we have arrived at the main topic of our post!
Fanfiction and pastiche are often confused together since they have three common elements: they take after the original work, they usually use the characters in that original work, and more often than not do are they set in that same time frame/period or not long after that. The common misconception is that pastiche are printed fanfiction, which is only partly true. While pastiche is definitely fanfiction in some ways and vice versa, there are fanfictions out there that aren't necessarily classified as pastiche that have been published.
Let's get on with our definition of terms to clear up the confusion a little more. Pastiche, according to Literary Terms, is:
. . . a creative work that imitates another author or genre. It’s a way of paying respect, or honor, to great works of the past. Pastiche differs from parody in that pastiche isn’t making fun of the works it imitates – however, the tone of pastiche is often humorous.
A good example of a pastiche is Sophie Hannah's 'The Monogram Murders', which is her take from Agatha Christie's Hercule Poirot.

Although this was a commission from Christie's estate, it's still considered as a pastiche as:
It's takes after Christie's writing style;
It is set in the early years of Poirot's career (1929), which is still within the time frame that the author wrote him in;
It features Poirot and;
It pays respect to Christie in a sense that it stays true to her (Christie) characters and way of storytelling.
Meanwhile, our good and slightly unreliable friend Wikipedia defines fanfiction as:
. . . is fictional writing written by fans, commonly of an existing work of fiction. The author uses copyrighted characters, settings, or other intellectual property from the original creator(s) as a basis for their writing. [It] ranges from a couple of sentences to an entire novel, and fans can both keep the creator's characters and settings and/or add their own. [ . . . ] [It] can be based on any fictional (and sometimes non-fictional) subject. Common bases for fanfiction include novels, movies, bands, and video games.
To avoid any copyright infringement issues if I ever use a popular fanfic in the fandom, we'll use my (unfinished and unpopular) Sherlock Wattpad fic, 'Play Pretend'. You can read it here.

Why is it considered a fanfiction and not a pastiche?
It takes after an adaptation of Sherlock Holmes (BBC Sherlock) which is a TV show, not the ACD canon itself;
The author (in this case myself) uses her own writing style and does not take after the original story's style;
Although it is set well in modern-day London and after Season 4, it also features scenes decades before the actual fanfic is set and outside of London;
I added a considerable number of characters, i.e. siblings to canon characters;
I had my own take some of the canon characters' personality especially after the events of Sherrinford;
It is written by a fan – myself. It is a work of fan labour and;
It is only a work of fanon, and isn't likely going to be considered by the show as its writing style is different from the actual show.
To put it simply, you can have more freedom in a fanfiction as it does not necessarily restrict you to follow or take after the original stories. Alternate universes (AUs) such as Unilock and Teenlock are perfect examples of this thing.
So can a pastiche be classified as fanfiction? Yes.
Can a fanfiction be classified as pastiche? Not all the time.
What's the difference? While yes, they share the basics, pastiche is technically leans more onto the original work's fundamental elements whereas fanfiction is a broader range of works inspired by the original work but doesn't necessarily follow all or any of its fundamental elements.
In order for us to understand it more, I'll give another example.

Most of you are familiar with these 21st-century adaptations of Holmes: the 2020 adaptation of Nancy Springer's Enola Holmes books and BBC Sherlock, which needs no further explanation – but for those who don't know, it's basically Holmes and the gang if they were alive today. I specifically chose these two as they are the ones that I believe would get my points across best. Though both are considered as wonderful pastiches with a well-rounded cast and awesome visuals, if we break them down bit by bit, we'll see which one is more of a pastiche and which one is more of a fanfic. (Yes, I know they're both screen adaptations. However, as Enola Holmes was based on the books and BBC Sherlock's fanfiction has the show's scenes written out in most fanfics, hear me out.)
They share these characteristics of a pastiche:
They feature characters from the Canon (Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, and Lestrade);
They have additional characters added by the writers (Including but not limited to Molly Hooper, Eurus Holmes, and Philip Anderson for BBC Sherlock while Enola Holmes has Lord Tewkesbury, Eudoria Holmes, and Enola herself) and;
They pay respect to the original Canon as their stories are based on the cases (BBC Sherlock) or simply what was going on around them (Enola Holmes).
They also share these characteristics of a fanfic:
They are made by enthusiasts of Sherlock Holmes (Moffat has called himself and Mark Gatiss 'Sherlock Holmes geeks', while Nancy Springer's Enola Holmes books are not just one or two but six);
They follow a common trope (we'll discuss these tropes in the following episodes) that goes on in the fandom (Sherlock's Sister & Modern AU)
They are based on a fictional subject (Sherlock Holmes);
They used characters and story elements that are copyrighted by the author/author's estate (fun fact: prior to the production of Enola Holmes, the Conan Doyle Estate filed a lawsuit against Springer & Netflix over Sherlock's emotions since he was more 'sympathetic' than he was portrayed in the Canon – this was later dismissed by both parties) and;
Their writing styles don't necessarily follow ACD's.
Despite these similarities, there are very obvious differences between the two that separates them from being a pastiche and a fanfiction.
Enola Holmes embodies pastiche more as it doesn't stray far away from the original elements of the Canon. It's still set in Victorian England. While Springer added characters of her own and definitely twisted the Canon to suit her series, she didn't necessarily place them out of the social construct that was going on around the characters. It follows ACD's writing style more as Enola Holmes' setting still remains within the Canon's original setting.
Meanwhile, we can safely say that BBC Sherlock is a work of fanfiction. While it did give us The Abominable Bride, the main series focused on Holmes and Watson in 21st-century England, which is drastically different from Victorian England. There are phones, black cabs, and cellphones — things which ACD Sherlock Holmes doesn't have. It also diverted from the Canon in the characters themselves, which is mostly seen in the names: Henry Baskerville became Henry Knight, Charles Augustus Milverton became Charles Augustus Magnussen, the H in Dr Watson's name stood for Hamish and Sherlock's full name is actually William Sherlock Scott Holmes. They also changed the personalities of some Canon characters: Mary was actually an ex-assassin, Mrs Hudson was an exotic dancer who drove a kick-ass sports car, Irene Adler is a dominatrix, to name a few. Moffat and Gatiss created a world of their own featuring the characters of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, which is really what most of us fanfic writers do with Mofftiss' rendition of Holmes.
In conclusion: while pastiche and fanfiction could have been the same thing, they're actually not. There's more to them that just printed fanfiction or pastiche e-books, and we all should take some time to see and observe them in a closer perspective.
And that's it for our first episode! I hope you enjoyed it. It was a lot fun for me to write this, especially now that I'm only starting. I would also like to note that while intensive research has been done on this series, some parts of this comes from my own observation and opinion, which may vary from yours. I am very much open to criticism, as long as it is said in a polite and civil manner. I'm still young, and to be educated as I go is something that could really help me with this series.

You and Rory meet one day on set which wasn’t unlikely because you’re one of the stand by paramedics for My Roanoke Nightmare
Considering how stupid clumsy Rory can be, you often find yourself patching him up with little band aids, and he always asks for the ones with Boots from Dora the Explorer on them
You can never really understand why he always insists on you being the one to help him whenever he gets hurt, even if it’s just for putting little band aids on his boo boos that’s what he calls them
“Oh my G O D, someone call 911!” “What happened?!” “I got a scrape from falling on the sidewalk, pls help me!” :[
He couldn’t help but go up to you from time to time and compliment your hair, which became a regular thing for him to do
Watching Rory go :0 every time you come to work with a different style
One day you decided to sit him down and explain it to him
You find out that he has a small list of possibilities on how your hair could change so suddenly one of them being that you’re secretly a chia pet
He finds himself so curious about your different hair styles that he takes time out of his lunch break in order to search them up and learn more about them
Always makes sure not to ask if he can touch it or if it’s your real hair
Whenever he overhears any snide comments about your hair from coworkers, he checks them in front of everyone, which always ends up making them look like an ass
One day after filming is over with, he decides to ask you out on a date
“We can totally go somewhere small but fun, just me and you yanno?” “Where...like to Chick-Fil-A?” “What’s wrong with Chick-Fil-A? I happen to love their little play areas with the small twisty slides!” :)
You two end up not going to Chick-Fil-A but a little low-key local diner that sadly doesn’t have a play area
Rory telling you about the time he got his grown ass stuck in one of the Chick-Fil-A kids tube slides and the fire department had to come and put lube on him so that they could pull him out
Totally has the battle scars to prove it and even lifts up his shirt to show you
Has you absolutely giggling uncontrollably as he attempts to find out how many pancakes he can shove in his mouth
Turns out not too many cause then he starts choking
You immediately go into paramedic mode and do the Heimlich maneuver on him, which causes the pancakes to shoot out of his mouth, and fall to the floor
You reassure everyone around you that he’s okay which is now evident from the fact that he's rolling on the ground and laughing loudly
“What’s so funny???” “I’ve just never had a date save my life like that before, that was hot!” “Oh don’t mention it” ;)
You drive him back to his place which took some time because he literally forgot where he lived
“No no (Y/N)! That’s the bush, I’d recognize it anywhere, we’re in my neighborhood!” [five minutes later] “Okay okay so-” “Let me guess, that’s the bush that you’d recognize anywhere and it signifies that we’re in your neighborhood.” “You know me so well already!” :) [sigh]
Finally you locate his house no thanks to Rory and currently find yourself eye to eye with him while in front his doorstep
“Thanks for performing the Hamlet on me at the diner today!” “It’s actually pronounced Heimlick, and again it’s no biggie!”
The both of you end the night with a soft kiss as your Uber pulls up to the drive way, you smile against his lips as you taste a hint of the pancakes and syrup he had earlier that night, and wave him good bye as he nearly trips on air despite being less than a foot away from the door to his own house

Friends, today feels like quite a moment for me. I honestly can’t believe we’re at the end of this journey with Hermione & Draco. It is extremely bittersweet for me to say goodbye to them (though–frankly–those two were decidedly very unhelpful during my multiple bouts of writer’s block). Today is actually my 24th birthday, and it feels right to release this chapter now, because I’m so proud and grateful for all the work my Alpha / Betas did on this piece. They are a truly amazing and special bunch, and I am extremely grateful and beyond thrilled to call them my close friends as well.
@mightbewriting was the first friend I made in fandom, and it’s been such an amazing journey with her. Amanda, you are wonderful and such a lovely presence in my life. I’ve learned so much about writing from you, and I’ve been honored to work on your fics as well. I’m very glad that I reached out all those months ago with the Tumblr DM. Look at us now! I have so much love and respect for you, and I am blown away by your talent. I can’t wait to see your future writing. From “Bone Mortar” to B&E, you are a joy.
@endless-musings Ash! You are such a source of light and humor in my life. I’m so lucky I got to meet you through Amanda and that I’ve had the amazing opportunity of having you as an Alpha / Beta. When he sinks into you, his eyes close, mouth parting. You touch his face, stroke his cheek. “Kiss me,” you tell him, and he stops mid-thrust and wraps his arms around your neck, lips finding yours. It makes you want to cry, so you close your eyes, thread your fingers through his hair.
Afterwards, you stare at his ceiling, eyes tracing the thin cracks spidering into the center. “Do you ever feel like we’re just play-pretending at intimacy?”
He doesn’t answer for a long while.
“No,” he finally says. “That’s not what it feels like for me, play-pretend.”

bucky stans have truly ruined the sambucky fandom. the fics are trash because it's all "uwu hurt bucky whump white man tears" with no character development and sam being pigeonholed into a constant caretaker role as if that his only trait and being runner up to steve's ghost. the tfatws meta is garbage and mostly racist. so many of these folks managed to have empathy for everyone BUT sam. some of you have already said this but it's worth repeating: pre-tfatws was really peak sambucky hours. except for a handful of writers and sam-centric creators, the rest is the pits now honestly

at this point, if you cannot see bucky as anything but a victim and sam as anything but an emotional mule, I'm gonna need you to keep your meta in the drafts until you've got the range, because right now you don't. bucky was absolutely horrible to sam. he was mean, catty, and honestly downright hateful sometimes. sam was endlessly supportive and patient with a man who caught an attitude with him when he tried to talk about his dead aunt. lmfao if sam had done that to bucky we would never hear the end of it!!!! but since it was the other way around literally no one ever mentions how unnecessarily nasty that was. that's why bucky's apology (which was NOT enough tbh) was important. because we watched this man treat someone who genuinely cared about his wellbeing (reaching out even though he'd been ghosted) like an emotional punching bag and THAT WAS NOT FAIR.
sam has his own problems he was dealing with--familial, financial, emotional--and none of those are ever discussed beyond brief moments (yes I know this is due to terrible writing) but it would be nice if some of you could take a a day off from making bucky a perpetual victim and like, acknowledge that, maybe????

and you know what fandom did the same thing with bucky and tony that they're doing with john--every bad decision and shitty behavior boils down to "because ptsd" and like. okay. white men can be as violent as they please and everyone will say "ptsd" but sam doesn't move his seat up and cracks jokes on bucky and it's never "well this man tried to kill sam multiple times, maybe it's how he copes" it's "he's a cruel, terrible human being." because black characters just like black people are not human to many of you and if we're not wholly good then we're wholly evil and we see this in the way black characters can't even sneeze wrong without mobs writing posts on how they're terrible and cruel lmfao. I would say touch grass but mother earth deserves better tbh.

there is a particularly gross account on here that claims anyone pushing against caretaker sam is ableist which I find interesting because quite a few of us on here who have been complaining about it are black, disabled and/or nuerodivergent fans (hello there 👋🏾). it's almost like they forget we exist the same way they do whenever the topic of race intersecting with disability/nuerodivergence comes up. shocking, I know.
literally no one is saying to stop writing sam as caring, compassionate and empathetic, we have been asking you mealy mouthed liars to write him as a character with agency, a character with his own problems, his own desires and his own motivations and not just a magical negro catering to the needs of some "uwu sad white boy" who happily plays second fiddle to steve's ghosts. we are asking you to show that love is a two way street (it always has been but that seems to confuse yall when one half of the ship is a black character). at this point you people KNOW what you are doing and have no intentions or stopping and will instead continue engaging in bad faith arguments instead of just admitting maybe you should reconsider why you always characterize the ship in such a toxic, unhealthy, one sided way and why you can't imagine black characters existing outside of their servitude to whiteness but yall not ready for that conversation lmao.

To all Bbrae and Damiare shippers!
I just got back from a massive ship war from Twitter, and I wanna for once and all, say how childish it is! (I already regret doing it. It was just a massive of exchanging nonsense)
We were literally saying the same thing but from different views. Even our reasons for disliking the other ship were literally the same.
What you ship is toxic!
It's abusive.
They have no chemistry
They were forced
It was just for them having love interests
It's dump
Bla bla bla
What was funny is that you can accuse both ships with these! But that doesn't mean they are! It's just a matter of prospective. Some people find it beautiful some people don't. It's like telling people Pizza is delicious but hamburger isn't and if you like it you're dumb!

It's like your favourite color is blue but red is another one's favorite. To tell which is better all depends on how the different individuals see it! So battling about is is hilarious.
This whole shipping , writing fics, making fanarts, fangirling and this funny 'obsessions' are all good and entertaining. It's even beneficial for some. Like me, I got to see many interesting people that were so talented artists and also so inspirational, and read many good fics by people who were better than many non-fictional writers, made friends who are really supportive and kind. It boosted my confidence about writting and leveled up my English that's is not my native language.
In conclusion these fictional worlds we have, are very beautiful.
But when does it get toxic? When you expect another person to like what you do even if it's not their taste!
As a bbrae shipper for years, I have my rights to like this ship and obbsess over it! I can fill out my search with their arts and fics and die whenever they do something romantic and NO ONE should tell me I'm dumb or abusive for liking it!
And guess what? If you are a damirae shipper you have all rights in the world to like your ship and if someone comes and insults you, they have problems!
We are all here for fun! To explore our taste and improve our skills and thoughts. We are all people who want to make friends with who share the same taste. It's all about love!
But there is indeed, some people who want their ship being labeled as THE BEST! And no one should make fanarts, fics, comic books, movies, series and other stuff about the other ships.
And that's when the main problem starts!
I'm gonna tell you that, these people are from BOTH sides. Some of them are bbrae shippers, some of them are damirae shippers. These people, as you all must have seen, go to other ships fans and insult them, threaten them, tell them to kill themselves and go through various reason why the other ship suck and they shouldn't ship it otherwise they're dumb or abusive and many hilarious yet disturbing things they can spell.
Honestly, even writting it makes me question why they haven't gone to a very needed therapist yet.
But still, these people exist and the truth is they are not many! Shocking I know!However, their behaviors and insults naturally makes other people believe the whole fandom is full of these people, which is not the case!
I repeat! These people come from BOTH SIDES! In fact, all fandoms in the world have them. I mean obviously, out of 8 billion people, some gotta be toxic. That's how life works! It's unavoidable and we should deal with it.
But what we shouldn't do, is to go through other people's tag and insult what they like. I myself, always tag bbrae to see the news or fanarts or fics or literally anything about them and then when I see a tag about anti bbrae in BBRAE tag...well you all know how disheartening it is since it happens in both tags which is very disturbing.
Okay all in all, both ships can work! Both are beautiful in different views! Both worked in different universes. And both gained popularity.
I don't like damirae and that's totally fine! As along as I don't go harassing people who love it. You like damirae and it's okay! As long as you don't go calling people abusive about liking bbrae.
Remember we are all humans and we can never be exactly the same! We like different things and it's natural! None of us is wrong or right. Just different! And that's why it's beautiful!
I feel like I'm kinda repeating myself here,( and yes I know many people before me have said the same thing but I felt it should be said again)
Just keep liking what you want. Make fanarts, fanfics, books and movies about anything you like! Just don't, and I repeat DON'T go and insult people who have differences! Don't go into the other one's tag and insult their ship. If you see anti tag about your ship, Don't start a war about it! Just block the post and enjoy the rest of this beautiful journey (aka obbsession lol) about what you like! Whether it be a movie or a book!

Doesn't it strike you as odd that your corner of Sansa fans are literally the only people in the asoiaf fandom who mentioned the Dany is Trump book, or who've heard about the Jonsa Trump fic? No one else here or on other sites even talks about it, only in relation to calling out another fan by name. And yet Sansa Stans are lining up to give money to a Republican writer just because she hates Dany. I'm not a fan of either one but I have to ask does this seem normal to you?

You know it never ceases to amaze and amuse me that people like you come into other people's ask box, try to rile them up and yet do not realise that the very format of the anon ask gives me the opportunity to retaliate and you have no chance to answer... (unless you come off anon)
First I want to clarify something : @sayruq 's post was about the claim of another anon (or maybe that was you as well?) that Jonsa and Sansa fans are just the same as the Anti Jonsas and Anti Sansas that we are doing just the same. Sayruq 's answer and my addition was about that. And I say it again. Defending a character in her own tag is not on the same level as all the shit Jonsas have been exposed to. The pattern is the same usually... 1. Some shit happens 2. Sansa / Jonsa fans are annoyed/angry whatever. 3. Some people say that we are blowing this out of proportion 4. Some say that it wasn't an Anti that it was some Jonsa and that it was done to attract attention. That was what the post was about. The post was not about who wrote the troll fic or who is suspected of writing that, it was about how we should not whine because both sides are the same and do the same. And no, they are not.
The exact same thing happened with the Twitter disaster. Someone actually hacked Twitter accounts, the Jonsa fandom was (justifiable) angry and then others made fun about that telling everybody we had deserved it and when called out about that they deleted posts and pretended they had never done it and then claimed we had done it ourselves - to attract attention...
So, what do you do right now? Saying that we do it to attract attention....
BTW, it doesn't strike me as odd that a fic on AO3 tagged Jon Snow/ Sansa Stark with the relationship tag is noticed by the Jonsa fandom... I mean fancy that.. A new Jonsa fic in the AO3 tag and Jonsas actually look at it.
It doesn't strike me as odd either that the book that troll fic was about then in turn is noticed by Jonsa and Sansa fans.
That the book then is mentioned and discussed because it happens to address an uncanny similarity between people who are part of the Dany cult and people who follow the Trump cult - a similarity we have been talking about for ages - is no surprise either. You would also talk about a book that makes the same observation as you have. BTW, it's not Dany = Trump, but Dany supporters are similar to Trump supporters (probably in the way they fail to see that the things D and T say are not the same as the things they do).
So, it does not strike me as 'odd' that Jonsas actually realise that they are being trolled, nor that they voice interest in a book that proves that things we see are noticed by other people as well (even if she is republican, that doesn't mean that she can't be right in this case). We have a nice saying in German about that: Even a blind chicken sometimes finds a grain of wheat.
Just for the record. I never said anywhere that I'm going to buy that book? I don't need someone to explain things to me I've known for ages: Tyrants are the same, anywhere on the world, be they fictional or real, and they get their supporters with propaganda... *gasp*
Propaganda that usually involves ridiculing people...
