warnings: angst, a tiny bit of fluff at the end, a little smutty but also very brief, mental illness, insecurity, paranoia, allusions to cheating (no one is actually cheating), slightly mean!finnick, self destructive behavior on all sides, more insecurities, arguments, feeling isolated, slight blood and injury, female rage things, male masturbation, unedited, no use of y/n, brief mentions of vomiting, girls girls all around, annie cresta my beloved being a girl girl, people pleaser reader
𓈒⠀𓂃⠀⠀˖⠀𓇬⠀˖⠀⠀𓂃⠀𓈒
Once every day had felt like it was full of sunlight, even if there were ups and downs you always had each other by the end of it. Now you weren't even sure if you had yourself, let alone Finnick. Worst of all you had no idea what you'd done wrong, at first you chalked it up to how he'd just returned from the Capitol. But usually his isolation was a day at the most before he'd succumb to your comfort. Instead it had been nearly a month of radio silence.
He stopped the way he'd pepper your face with kisses to wake you up and bring you to the kitchen where he'd have made breakfast, telling you mindless stories about his morning swim. Now if he did anything for you it felt robotic, out of necessity, there was no helping you with your hair, having fun picking out your outfits, he was barely around. Never would you have thought you could be such an outcast in your own home, your own relationship.
At first you'd thought you just weren't doing enough, that he needed some extra love to help him open up. Reluctantly you'd fully wake yourself up when you felt him rise for his swim, take up the position of making him breakfast instead. Busying yourself with his favorites until he returned and you put on your best smile when he did, hopeful it would be somewhat successful.
“Good morning!” You greeted and were met with a confused look, a nod. You'd always hated getting up this early yet here you were and he did nothing.
“I have to take a shower." He muttered and was up the stairs. It was a disappointing resolution, but then your hopes had still been high. So you kept making his favorites throughout the next few days, scattering gifts for him throughout the house, writing notes to hide where he might find them, desperate to show him how much you loved him.
“Where are you going?" Your voice startled him and he slowly turned his head towards you.
Finnick's voice was so dry, rigid, “Fishing."
“Oh, let me get my shoes on, I'll come with!" Bright smiles, you reminded yourself when it felt like wavering.
“I'd rather go alone."
“Right." It wanted to falter so bad, “How long are you gonna be gone? I could make you lunch to go or something."
“I'm okay."
You fidgeted with your fingers, “Yeah, okay, well, um, have fun." Then he was gone, without a kiss, even a hug goodbye. Come to think of it there hadn't been any at all for a while, not even in the morning which is something he'd always do. So after a few days failing with those attempts you'd convinced yourself of a different reason.
“Annie, be honest with me, do you think I'm pretty?" The two of you had been out in the garden of Victors Village and she seemed taken aback.
“Honey, of course you're pretty. You're beautiful, what brought this on?" She dropped what she was doing to look at you.
You darted around the specifics, “What about the way I dress, is it too frumpy?"
“No! There's nothing wrong with anything about you." Her voice was so soft and she felt like the only person you could talk to now that Finnick had pushed himself away from you. “What's going on?"
You felt yourself finally crying all the held back tears you'd hid for the moments alone, “What if he's found someone prettier and more exciting?” You sobbed out and Annie hugged you.
"Finnick worships the ground you walk on, he'd never do that.”
"He barely even talks to me anymore, Annie. It's like I don't exist.”
“He's just going through a rough patch, it's not your fault."
Regardless of what Annie said, you disagreed. He must have had someone else, but you couldn't confront him about it. No, if you did then it would become real and he'd leave you for them. There had to be someone else taking on his hardships and loving him the way he'd once let you. So you bought new makeup, new lingerie, new clothes, tried to feel more attractive, more desirable. Yet it didn't seem like he even noticed.
You'd waited for his return all day, he'd left so early you hadn't even seen him. You made dinner praying that he'd see the effort you made, and find you irresistible once again. Of course, this effort seemed to be in vain.
“Welcome home, Finn!" You greeted when he walked through the front door, pained by the sound of your own faux bubbly voice. You put a plate down in front of his usual seat.
“Thanks." He mumbled and you smiled cheerfully. Perhaps you'd been too solemn and he'd prefer someone who exuded more sunshine-like behavior. “How was your day?" His voice was sharp, curt, but it was a conversation nonetheless. Always better than nothing.
“It was good!" You lied through your teeth, there hadn't been a single moment where your brain hadn't been infested with the thought of him pushing you away, him with someone else. It was something you desiped, you preferred to be in the moment. When you had been confident in yours and Finnick's relationship you could immerse yourself in the company of others, enjoy menial tasks with humming and daydreams, but now the isolation haunted your mind. “Annie and I planted some new flowers and cut some that recently finished blooming. I finally changed our vases out." He didn't even glance around, just kept eating. Your Finnick had always made an effort to look around, praise you for anything you did, he took pride in you, now the only thing he took pride in was being able to avoid you.
He curtly nodded his head in response and you felt like you might snap. Especially as the silence persisted, nothing except the sounds of the house and his fork clinking on the plate. You chewed at your bottom lip, leg bouncing up and down waiting for the smallest bit of conversation, but nothing came. Eventually you shot out of your seat, grabbed your plate, which you were sure you wouldn't be able to stomach, and began cleaning up dinner. Hands gripping each dish so hard as if to contain all the rage you'd been repressing.
“I can clean up." Finnick murmured as he rose.
Being lazy was another thing you thought could be a reason. He did so much for you and whatever you had to offer must not have been enough. Yes, he'd always insisted that you should just be his pretty girl that he could look at when he did the tasks, but in secret he must have just wanted you to resist and do more. So you vehemently shook your head, “No, I've got it!" Your voice was strained and several pitches too high to sound natural.
“It's fine, I can do it.” How dare he have the gall to sound annoyed with you.
“I've got it Finnick, just go to bed!" Or whatever the fuck else is he does to be away from you. You regretted how snappy you were, he wanted someone easy going, not how uptight you were being. But god, hate that man for how he looked like a wounded puppy dog. “Sorry." You muttered, only partially genuine. Harshly grabbing a glass to clean, hands gripping around it, so harshly it seemed that when you went to put it to dry, it shattered in your hand. Your reaction was delayed as you stood there in disbelief, you hated your life, “Fuck.”
Then his hand was on your back and you involuntarily jerked at the contact you hadn't felt for so long. “You're bleeding." How the hell was his voice still so stony, a mystery you'd never know the answer too. It sent tingles up your spine the way his hand was on your back, you missed his touch. He led you to the bathroom where he carefully tended to the cuts in your hand. Carefully taking out the pieces of glass and although you occasionally winced, it was like your brain couldn't comprehend the pain over the buzzing about his hand touching yours. But once he bandaged it up the touch was gone and so was he with a, “I'll clean up."
Fuck him, fuck him, fuck him, fuck him. But you hated being angry with him when he was probably going through something, he'd struggled so much and just needed help. Was it really excusable though when it was tearing you apart to be in all of this. You got up and without a second thought walked straight out the front door. Feet guiding you to the comfort of the beach. Of course it invoked memories of all the better times spent with Finnick, but out here at least you had the ocean. It has started to rain and you didn't care. Walking out into the sea, as far as you could touch, and letting the freedom of the waves surround you. And you screamed, at the sky, at the waters, into the night. Trying so desperately to let go of the aggression, so you could keep trying. Inhaling the salt air before you walked back inside, you could do this. Every relationship had trials and tribulations, but you could be stronger, stick together.
As you were walking back, Finnick was jogging towards you, “Are you okay?" There was actual emotion in his voice, you longed to be privileged to it more often.
“Yeah."
“I thought I… " He trailed off, hand running through his hair. The way he looked like he might cry sparked guilt in you, but also a sick pleasure that he actually cared. “You're gonna get sick." Just as quickly his tone returned to being straight-laced.
You didn't care, if you were sick maybe he would take care of you. So you walked inside and he said nothing. You showered and changed, you'd gotten a new nightgown that left little to the imagination. Maybe you could get a rise out of him, get him to touch you more. But he seemed to be fast asleep by the time you left the bathroom, so you slipped into bed beside him. In the past he'd always sleep with his arms around you, but now you slept beside each other rather than with one another. It left you cold, despite the blankets, which were barely there as he'd always been a blanket hog, which you used to tease him for, but was fine because you were attached to him. Now you laid there and felt yourself crying. You cursed yourself for it, not right now, but you couldn't stop. So you covered your mouth with a hand as you sobbed into it.
The next morning you felt him wake, but there was no energy to make breakfast. You were exhausted and it hadn't made him love you again anyways. So you drifted back off until the sound of floorboards creaking when he returned woke you up. You sat up in bed as he entered the bedroom. “Morning, Finn." The smile you worked hard to maintain was back.
“Morning." He mumbled and then his eyes faltered on you. That's when you remembered the nightgown, it was a relief for something to keep his eyes on you. ‘Love me, even if it's just for my body, love me in some way.’ Your brain begged to no avail. “Shower." He slowly said even though he'd very obviously grown hard.
You felt humiliated, completely embarrassed to be dressed the way you were and him to still not want you. It made you want to cry again, but you had to persist. Rising to get dressed until you heard your name. It took you a second to process that he was moaning it, you were right there and he was getting himself off to the thought of you when he could've just had the actual you. That had to be a new type of low. You hadn't even dared to touch yourself no matter how badly you wanted him because you knew nothing you did could match the things he'd made you feel. Yet here he was, so easily jerking off. There was nothing you could do except seethe as you got ready for your day. At least it was your name and not some other girls.
You were in the kitchen when he walked downstairs, “Going to the market." He announced and you got up from your chair.
“I'm coming too." It wasn't a question.
"No, it's okay. I've just got a couple things to grab.”
"So do I, so I'll just come along to grab them. You don't even have to stick by me, I'm just going.” You were exasperated. Honestly you hadn't left the confines of Victors Village for a while, besides when you tried to recall your look, and this would be a good opportunity to see if he was being honest. There was nothing you really had to get, but at least you'd somewhat had his company.
He said nothing but waited as you put on your sandals and then the two of you set off. The silence was deafening as you two walked, your Finnick would always hold your hand, would've taken you from booth to booth and ramble on endlessly, buy anything you glanced at with interest, but now he stood too far away for your hands to even brush by each other. The bustling of the market was a relief and for the first time in a long time you naturally smiled. Although it was jarring how quickly Finnick put on a smile, made conversation with all these people when he hadn't blessed you with the same thing. In fact, it instantly dampened your mood.
“Haven't seen you in so long, missed seeing that pretty smile!" All your favorite vendors gushed and you'd smile, make small talk. Even if everything made you think of Finnick. When was the last time he'd called you pretty? When was the last time he kissed you?
“You look a little sad, are you alright?" And you'd insist you were just feeling a little under the weather. You'd somewhat kept your distance from Finnick until you saw him laughing with a girl in the market. When was the last time he'd laughed with you? Is this what he did, found pretty girls in the market, charmed them, and went back home with them?
You'd slowly approached and showed fake interest in one of her necklaces. “They're real pearls." She said. She was so pretty, stunning. What did she have that you didn't? You hummed, smiling and without a word, Finnick was handing you money.
‘I don't want your money, I want you to pay attention to me.’ You thought and shook your head, “I don't need your money, Finn." The only thing you'd want from him was something he'd pick out because he wanted to give it to you, something he'd always done if you hadn't been there with him. Showing up at home with little treasures to show off to you. He looked at you quizzically, it wasn't like you had any money of your own on you.
“Is this your girlfriend?" The woman asked, her voice was sweet like sugar, you were too gruff, that's what you were missing.
Right now though, your voice was breathy, anxious. “Yeah." The woman must have been able to sense something off because she looked at you with pity. Finnick left the money on the counter by you regardless of what you said and walked off. You sighed.
“I'm sorry, I didn't know."
You gave a sad smile, “It's okay, not your fault." You picked the money up, ready to go find him.
“He's just a guy, even if he's Finnick Odair, don't let him dim your spark." It should've been encouraging, except you knew you loved him too much to ever leave him.
You found him, chatting and smiling as he bought produce. You missed his smile. “Here." You said quietly, handing him his money.
“Where's the necklace?"
“Didn't need it." You didn't care about needing it, you care that he would rather have you buy things for yourself then make you feel valued.
He huffed, like you were frustrating him, annoying him. “Okay, use it to find something else then. You said you weren't going to stick around me." You couldn't stop yourself from physically recoiling from his venom.
“I just came to tell you I was going home." You said weakly, staring at the ground. “Have fun." Your voice cracked slightly and you didn't even bother looking up as you walked home. Immediately settling yourself into bed where you refused to move. Eventually he came home, something clicked onto the dresser table, the sun went down and you stayed put. When he crawled into bed the most movement you made was flipping onto your side to have the protection of your back facing him.
For days it was a cycle of laying in bed, only rising once he left, usually to stand under the burning hot water in the shower until your skin felt raw. Then immediately returning back to bed. He'd return, put something on the dresser, and you'd stay still. Eventually one night he'd come home and sat at your feet, mattress dipping. “We need to talk."
Your hands clamped over your ears, this was it, he was done with you, all that effort for nothing. The anxiety knotted in your stomach, “I'm gonna be sick." You forced yourself up and found yourself throwing up in the toilet, Finnick holding your hair back.
“Hey, it's okay. It's okay, sweet girl." When you were done you said nothing as you brushed your teeth, praying he would leave and forget whatever bad news he was surely bearing. But he didn't, he waited and sat on the bed, waiting for you. Who exited, arms crossed, trying not to cry.
“Please don't break up with me." It was pathetic to beg for but he stood up, looking bewildered.
“No, no, no, I'm not gonna break up with you, sweet girl. I wouldn't even think of it." His hands cradled your face and you melted into them.
Finally you let the tears fall, "Then what are we talking about?”
"I've been so terrible to you, a terrible partner, a terrible person. I…” He took a deep breath in, "I had a rough time in the Capitol, I always do, especially last time though. And I knew you would be able to tell and try to help, but it was easier for me to just block you out so I didn't have to deal with it. Because it hurts to think about." He was crying and it made your heart ache. "And I took you for granted. I didn't try to be there for you, I was selfish and I can't make up for it enough. I will spend the rest of my life making up for it.”
You were both sobbing and he pressed his forehead to yours. His hands were so warm, his touch was so perfect. "I want to help you.”
"I know.” He pulled his forehead away, putting his hands on your shoulders. "I need you to tell me how you felt. Not the sweet way you usually explain things, be honest, so honest.
You shook your head, “No, it's okay. It was just miscommunication."
“No, I think I nearly broke you and everybody else noticed before I did. I need to know your raw feelings, so I can attempt to make it up to you.” He let go of your shoulders and sat down on the edge of the bed.
"I thought you were cheating on me.” You said quietly, anxiously playing with your fingers. He already looked hurt, "Like you found someone else because I wasn't, I don't know, fun enough, pretty enough, hardworking enough. And you didn't want me to do anything with you ever or notice anything I did for you." You took a deep breath, you could feel yourself getting angrily worked up and he could tell.
“If you're angry, be angry." He said and you obeyed.
“And I bought new clothes for you, changed my makeup routine, smiled more, made all your favorites, woke up earlier, tried to take on burdens and you said nothing. Do you know how lonely I was? How bad that made me feel about myself? One day you weren't letting me lift a finger, telling me you loved me, now pretty I was, and the next I thought I'd never hear any of that again, let alone have you touch me. No kisses, or hugs, you didn't even hold me when we slept! And you were so closed off and sometimes mean on top of that and all I wanted was your attention. Until finally I gave up because at least even if you weren't really with me, I still had you, and I didn't want you to leave me just because I found out there was someone else, which is so fucked. And then I thought, maybe at the very least, he’ll have me for my body, I had new lingerie, I tried and you didn't give a fuck. No, you got yourself off in the goddamn bathroom and I was right here!” Your voice had risen and your inhales were sharp between the ranting, "And everytime I hated what you were doing to me, I'd feel bad because what you've been through is so much worse and I should still try to be there for you. So I tried and then you'd be annoyed with me and it was like torture. And I swear to god, if you ever do that again, I'll leave.” A weight lifted off of your chest and he hugged you.
“I'm so sorry, I won't ever do it again, I love you so much, you're so pretty and kind and I need you in my life." You held onto him like he would slip away, kissing away your tears that were falling even though he was also crying. He held you until the sobbing had mostly subsided, “You know I bought you all these stupid gifts when you were laying there, thinking it would make you feel better, but I don't even think you noticed." He chuckled and you turned your head, not wanting to tear away from him. All you could see was the necklace from where you were standing. “Not that it would've done anything after all the time I spent letting the castle crumble around us.
"Thank you.” It was muttered and then he tried to pull out of the hug which made you whine. Trying to cling on forever.
His hand tilted your chin towards him, “You wanna put one of those sets on that you got for me so I can show you how pretty you are and how sorry I am for neglecting my sweet girl?"

Do you think best friend!felix would kiss the reader “for fun” but really…
hm. good question bc i really had to think about this bc if anyone can get away with platonically kissing someone it's 110% felix, and it does feel in character
i was on the fence until i remembered that the first (and only) guy i dated started off as a really good friend and before dating we'd kiss at parties and laugh it off the next day bc of the alcohol/atmosphere so it's very much realistic bc i did not notice for an entire semester😭
so let's discuss!!
felix would definitely hide behind the "for fun" defense by being as casual as possible with it. while out partying/drinking, he'd kiss reader so briefly the reader can barely register what's happening until it's happened. also this is mainly done after a particularly good/happy moment,, maybe after you two take a shot together, with that touch of adrenaline and the sting of alcohol still lingering there. would definitely do this if he felt jealous/saw someone checking out reader.
now, if we're talking actual, more intentional kisses that are harder to explain away....i think these are a definitely a lot rarer, but for sure have happened.
still uses the "for fun" argument if it's a party thing, like if everyone's kissing someone (like a NYE kiss) or it's bc of some party game, then he's lingering/being touchier than usual bc he can get away with it.
also not to take this a step further and make it even more difficult to justify, but i think there's a level of intimacy to it bc felix is so touchy/open with everyone, that eventually the only way to be particularly close to someone is to do more.
so,, and this is definitely the rarest type of kiss ( like it's happened at most 2-3 times) after drinking/smoking together, felix will kiss reader when they're completely alone, with no one to blame or goad you on or interrupt. these are slow and heavy. concentrated.
there's always an emotional component,, maybe reader had been poorly trying to hide their mood because felix had been a little too into being admired recently. or maybe felix feels left out about something and needs to find a way to feel even closer to reader.
after felix is definitely being more open than he usual is, telling you things like "i trust you more than i've ever trusted anyone, you know that right?" and "it's just you and me."
the first time this happened is the first time reader has a oh my god?? do i actually have a thing for felix? moment,, and after felix finally falls asleep, reader freaks out bc what if what happened ruined your friendship?
but then the next morning comes and it's like nothing happened, he doesn't even do that guy thing where they ignore you the next day, it's literally like nothing out of the ordinary happened and out of instinct, reader follows felix's lead
then reader convinces themselves that it's not that weird by telling themselves that felix has probably at least kissed most of the people that are around him for long enough which is kind of true and you know several people that he still hangs out with that he hooks up with on and off,,
so, with the amount of time you spend together,, it isn't strange. not when you know felix the way reader does.
when taylor wrote “and you kiss me in a way that’s going to screw me up forever” it was for felix
----
this might be a little much,, but i can see it for felix tbh 😭
anyways, if anyone's interested in a drabble based on any part of this, lmk!!

William Afton headcanons
Headcanons for everyone's favorite murderous yellow rabbit. Based off of Matthew Lillard's portrayal of peepaw from the film. <3
Jealous. Incredibly jealous. Prepare to be able to do nothing alone. It's like having a clingy cat around, he wants you to depend on him for everything.
Big fan of pet names. Sweetheart, love, little girl, little bunny, babydoll, you name it.
William is incredibly tall, and if you're anything like me he would tower over you. He loves shorter (and younger) partners. It feeds into his ego, and he's a control freak.
Arguments are not pretty. William has an ugly green (or, rather yellow) monster inside him when he's mad. He will guilt trip you and degrade you without thinking twice if he's in a rage episode.
Takes his time to learn everything about you. Even the little things. Shows and movies you like, go to food orders, traumatic moments, etc. Somehow, he manages to always remember it all.
William is actually a decent cook. He makes a mean pasta sauce.
He gets all giddy the first time he takes you to see his animatronics at Fazbear's. Looking at them up close you're both in awe and terrified. But, seeing him get excited is worth it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NSFW
You simply can not convince me that this man does not have a daddy kink. He loves it when you use it as an innocent pet name too, outside of the bedroom.
Absolute freak. Pretty sure as a community this has been agreed upon but I will reiterate.
CNC, knives, you name it.
Loves to praise and degrade his partner during sex.
William would love to fuck you on every surface at Freddy's and over his desk in the career counseling office.
Would absolutely try to fuck you in the Spring Bonnie suit.
William would love a pillow prince(ss) <3
Call him "old man" and you'll be unable to walk the next day.
Thank you for reading!

can i ask for something based on my daily suffering? It's interesting (or not) something fluff, welcoming, consoling, kind and gentle, I need happy things
Headcanons or Scenario for Red Hired and Whitebeard ( Whitebeard's daughter)

- I hate myself
Sorry for that, do it if you want, thank you 🫶
Tumblr media
─Red Hair Pirates & Whitebeard Pirates x fem!reader
─Summary: You are not having the best days but your family and friends make you see that you should not drown in a glass of water
─Warnings: none
I feel your loss :( and hey, everyone argues from time to time, things can be solved by talking if both parties want to work it out, I hope you are feeling better now love, feel free to message me if you need anything! 🫶🏻
Tumblr media
Your mood was really shitty lately, you argued with some important people over something silly, nothing seemed to go your way and you thought you were being a complete nuisance to all of your father's crew right now, so you decided to run away for a few weeks hoping a break would lift your spirits.
It seems you couldn't enjoy your alone time either because it just made you overthink the situation you were in which caused anxiety to kick in, everything was going so bad lately that you couldn't take it anymore, you needed to unload everything you had but you did not find any psychologist or doctor who convinced you to be able to try to calm your mind.
You were in the middle of a mental breakdown, in the middle of nowhere, on your way to another island when you saw it in the distance, you hadn't seen them many times, but you knew the Red-Haired Pirates, you thought it was better not to bother them considering your state in deplorable spirits, but once Shanks saw the ship with Whitebeard's mark on it it was inevitable that you would not end up aboard his ship.
The screams, belches and music made you shudder at first, too used to your deafening stupid thoughts, you looked like a little animal about to be run over while you watched all those men dance and drink without worries.
"What's the long face? This is a party, you should celebrate!"
Yassop patted you on the back offering you a drink which you refused, Benn denied seeing the interaction, coming closer to see how little receptive you were, he knew that something was occupying your mind now and it wasn't a party exactly what you had in mind.
"Don't listen to this idiot, you can do whatever you want, you can even hit Shanks if you want."
A grimace similar to a smile appeared on your face, a bit amused by Benn's words, apparently he summoned the redhead just by saying his name.
"What's up with me?"
"Oh nothing, we were just planning the way to kick you."
"Again? You should stop inciting our guests to hit me!" he looked at you, changing his silly smile to a fake look of a kicked puppy "Don't listen, okay? I know you're better than that! Someone like you wouldn't kick me, would you?"
You were amused by his nonsense, sharing a quick glance with the other two men, the grimace on your face turning into a wider smile.
"I don't know, the offer sounds good, what do I get if I kick it?"
"It!?"
Ignoring Shanks's betrayed expression, Benn and Yassop looked at you laughing, both patting their captain on the back making him take a step closer to you.
"Whatever you want! As long as you hit him with your greatest force."
"Hey! I'm the captain what the hell is wrong with you?"
They started a silly argument which the others joined in, making you chuckle slightly at the absurd situation, this little visit didn't exactly fix your problems, but spending time with this crew made you clear your mind and feel a little better, you decided you could deal with your problems a little later, for now you needed to release some tension.
Tumblr media
Coping with the loss of a pet, arguing with some friends, feeling like everything you do is not paying off, it all came crashing down on you like a storm hitting hard, you felt so bad you didn't even want to bother your father with your problems or the others.
You felt miserable, the days began to go by like a blur, unable to leave your room or socialize a bit, you felt alone and locked up, you were terrified of facing your father to talk about your problems thinking that you would only be a burden to the whole the crew, you felt bad asking for help even if you needed it.
And, honestly, you would have kept drowning in your own misery if it hadn't been for Ace noticing your absence, he could tell you weren't fine pretty quickly, although he didn't want to push you, he felt that you were simply making things worse for yourself by locking yourself away.
He asked Marco for help because he knew that he could not approach the subject delicately, the least he wanted to do was cause you to have an anxiety attack because of him, he did not want to be abrupt or direct when talking about the subject, so it was Marco who asked you how were you.
You didn't know if it was due to despair or mental exhaustion but you ended up telling between sobs that you weren't feeling well, that lately you felt that everything was against you and that your life became a constant uphill.
"Okay, calm down, everyone has bad streaks, does your father know anything about this?"
"N-no…"
"You don't need to say it right away if you're not comfortable, but talking to him will calm you down, it's stupid for me to say it but Whitebeard is a kind man, your father will understand you perfectly."
You nodded, burying your face in his shoulder, tightening the hug a little more before letting him go, it took a couple more days before you faced your father, it was hard for you to open up about the situation but Marco was right, once you let go everything, your father hugged you saying that everything would be fine.
"Oh my daughter, you should not worry, life turns its back on you sometimes so you have to stay strong, please, if there is something that can cheer you up right now I will do it for you immediately."
Your father's devotion to making you dear raised your spirits a lot, you smiled widely, denying his proposal for the moment, there was nothing he could do right now, you just wanted to hang out with the others since you had wasted a lot of time locked up.
"Oh look, isn't she my favorite girl? It's good to see you around here again, come on, just tell me what you want and you'll have it as fast as possible."
You laughed slightly at Thatch's enthusiasm to see you appear in the kitchen, ordered your favorite dish and got to work, while Izo walked in just to pick up something he'd forgotten, although he did stop to talk to you about some gossip you'd lost, put you up to date with everything.
"Is that food I smell? Can I have one piece?"
"No way, back down demon!"
And the peaceful gossip talk went overboard when Ace came into the kitchen drooling from the smell of your food, you and Izo laughed as Thatch tried to hit Ace with a spatula to scare him away, a small fight started in the one where the cook was juggling your plate while trying to keep the other boy from touching your food.
You lost it when Ace tripped over a cloth on the floor, grabbing onto Thatch's apron which knocked the plate into the air, they both fell to the floor and mysteriously the plate remained intact right on top of the cook's toupee. Izo smiled seeing how you laughed at the dumbest fall you'd seen so far, everyone knew that you hadn't been feeling very well lately and seeing that you were beginning to have a better mood made them happy.

Don't fall in love - Part three
Summary:
You get warned not to fall in love with Ghost, but you did anyways. Turning this into a little series!
Pairing: Simon 'Ghost' Riley x fem!Reader
Wordcount: 1122 | Rating: E (18+ only!)
Warnings: a little bit of angst - swearing - mentioning of sex and masturbation
Part one and two here.
You want to go after him, tell him you’re sorry, tell him you’re struggling to understand the feelings you’re feeling, to tell him you’re afraid that if you let him in, he will tear your whole being down and leave you defenceless. But you don’t.
Instead you watch him leave.
A feeling of loneliness, guilt, even regret washing over you. Because you’re doing to him what others had warned you about he would do to you.
On the other side of the base Simon is struggling just as much, feeling stupid that he let his walls crumble, even it is was for you. On the other side of base Simon is hurting because he really did want you to be different. Because for you, Simon had convinced Ghost to let you in. You made him nervous in all the good ways. You made him want to change, to stop chasing that feeling of being desired, so he could pretend the desire was the love he had been craving so him.
Because he wanted, no needed a life that isn’t just about needing to escape his life, and he desperately wanted you to be that life.
But you had crushed him, you had left him when he had allowed himself to be vulnerable, when he had asked you to spent the night. You had played the tricks on him he used to play on others.
So Ghost went back on what he knew best. Self-destruction in the form of using others. Self-destruction by having another woman in his bed every night. Using the poor souls to get a taste of what a life full of love could be.
And you couldn’t stand it. You hated to see how he would use the same tricks over and over again, you hated to see how they would always work. The infamous leaning against the doorway, taking off his mask or balaclava at just the right time. Showing off his bare hands, rolling up his sleeves so you could just see the right amount of muscle with his every move.
And it worked every time. It broke your heart to see how he had moved on from you. You hated how he was still the only one who could fulfil any fantasies you might have, how it was him that you were craving late at night, but how you knew someone was laying under him, getting what you so desperately craved.
But how does one take the first step after this? ‘Hey, sorry I dipped after I promised to spent the night, but you see, I have some issues so I want to hurt you before you can hurt me.’ No. No that would be no good, but it would be the truth.
‘Hey sorry I dipped and then refused to communicate like a normal person, you see, I have some issues I’m working on.’
No.
‘Hey, long time no see, I still masturbate to the sex we had, but I cry afterwards because I miss your arms around me.’
Pathetic.
‘Hey, could you give me one more chance? I’ll probably fuck it up again whenever we get into an argument because I’m afraid people will leave me all the time, but I can make you feel good for a week or two.’
Fuck. You got more issues than you realised and maybe, maybe it would be for the best that it never worked between the two of you. Maybe you were one of those people who were destined to be alone forever, never worthy of actually being loved.
But destiny had other plans for you. Destiny set the two of you up for a mission together. Destiny decided that the mission went well, the two of you secured a piece of intel, and on a mission the two of you worked together perfectly. He was great at taking charge, and you were good at following orders.
So, you just had a simple, successful mission, and now the two of you were driving back.
Just the two of you, in that goddamn car. You could see him grip the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turned white, while you looked out of the window of the passenger seat. Your knees pointed to the door. You wanted to get out, you wanted to avoid every possible form of communication. You could feel the tension in the air, the both of you dancing around the awkwardness that came with this.
This is why you don’t fall in love with him.
But the damage had already been done, you were already in love with him, and every passing second was a reminder that you could have had it all, but you ruined your own chances with him.
“I’m sorry.” You’re the first to break the silence and you get rewarded with a scoff.
“You’re still sorry you left that night?” His voice is sharp, and it cuts right through your soul. Your natural reaction is to go lower, to burn every single inch of him to the ground. But you’re trying to repair your damaged soul, and a better reaction is part of that.
“No.”
“Then what are you sorry for.”
“I’m sorry for treating you the way I wouldn’t want to be treated.” A weight of your chest, you feel like you can breathe a little better.
“Why did you do it?”
A valid question.
“Because I was afraid you would hurt me.”
“Why would I do that?”
“I’ve seen you break the hearts of other recruits.”
“But they weren’t you.”
“No. But what made them different?”
“They don’t make me feel things like you do.”
Oh.
You find it hard to react to things like this, a part of you want to swoon at his words, beg him for forgiveness, lose a part of yourself so it can be replaced by him. Another part of you wants to keep the walls up, shut him out, tell him you’re a bad person, make him look at you the way you look at yourself.
“Don’t do this.” His voice breaks the silence.
“What?”
“Don’t go into war with yourself in your own head.”
He is reading you like a book.
“You’re like me.” He continues, Simon has kicked Ghost out again, trying to give you one more chance. “You’re afraid of getting hurt, so you hurt others before they get the chance to get to you.”
“That’s why I left that night.”
“I know, that’s why I usually kick the others out before they get the chance to stay the night.” The honest confession leaves Simons lips.
“Why me?” You must know it.
“Why not you?”
“Because I’m me.” And you don’t like yourself.
“And that’s what I want.”

Force, I am SO frustrated with the Filonification of popular Star Wars. People keep on trying to make arguments about Star Wars, yet they refuse to actually watch Star Wars and make sensible criticisms about it because they’re literally just parroting whatever weird non-canonical shit Felony spit out in an article last week.
I was looking at this article:
And I was legitimately trying to look at the criticisms and see if I can agree with any of them, but they don’t make any sense and I can just feel Filoni oozing off them.
So imma rant, got it?
Mistake Number 1 that led to the fall of the order: They were too much into politics.
More specifically, the article claims that “they very much had a hand in the flipping the Senate” with reference to the Vote of No Confidence for Valorum in tpm, but it’s been a minute and a half since I saw the prequels, so I read the Wookie summary, and I might’ve missed something but I don’t think there’s any mention of them, like, voting or doing anything significant in the Senate in ep1? I feel like it would’ve been mentioned if it was even vaguely implied that the Jedi mind tricked the senate or lobbied for the vote to go one way or another, but it isn’t mentioned anywhere and it don’t square with what I remember, so I’m guessing they just made this up and convinced themselves it was canon? Tell me if you can figure out what they’re talking about or if there is a canon basis I missed.
Other than that, I do not remember a single scene where we saw the Jedi do anything more political than take orders from politicians or exist in the senate building in the prequels.
Mistake Number 2 that led to the fall of the order: Suppressing Baby Murderer’s emotions.
…A Take, certainly. So this one’s talking about Anakin’s grief over his mother’s death, which I agree would be a fucked-up thing to suppress. That’d suck. If it actually happened because… the Jedi do not know that Anakin’s mom is dead. They do not know that Anakin and Padmé went to Tatooine, since they were ordered to stay on Naboo. They are utterly unaware of everything that happens on Tatooine aside from Yoda feeling the Tusken Massacre in the Force. Yeah, Anakin told Obi-Wan that he’d had dreams about his mom dying, and he didn’t do anything about it, but that wasn’t Obi Wan suppressing Anakin’s emotions—that was just him saying that it sucked that he had a bad dream, since I don’t think Anakin said it could’ve been a vision or anything, so this one doesn’t land at all. Where did they get this idea???
Mistake Number 3 that led to the fall of the order: ‘Allowing’ Maul to take over Mandalore (somehow?)
I can feel my brain cells dying. Maul joined up with a terrorist group and some crime gangs to forcefully take over a neutral system. None of that was ‘allowed’ by the Jedi. They also say that the Jedi ‘sent’ Obi Wan to get rid of Maul when I remember Yoda telling Obi Wan some shit like “Send anyone to Mandalore the Jedi cannot” and then Obi Wan went to Mandalore anyway and it didn’t do shit. Anyway I feel like the author of this article might own a ridiculously annoying cowboy hat. Just a hunch.
Mistake Number 4 that led to the fall of the order: Baselessly Exiling Ahsoka (Baselessly?? There very much was base)
So. Wrong Jedi Arc my beloathed. Here we are again. The article claims that the Jedi “exiled Ahsoka Tano on mere suspicion alone and didn't even confirm whether she was involved in the bombing of the Jedi Temple or not”. Which. Hmm. So, there was a big investigation into the bombing that pretty definitely said that Ahsoka was almost certainly the bomber. It wasn’t ‘mere suspicion’, it was all the fucking evidence very clearly pointing to her. She ran away, she worked with a damn separatist assassin, she was found in a warehouse filled with the bombs. The audience know she was framed, but the characters don’t because the whole point of framing someone is to convince the other people they did it. If the Jedi had exiled her for this, they would’ve been being very reasonable and justified. Will also point out that the Jedi were forced by the Senate to exile her and did not want to. They apologized and let her back in as soon as they possibly could.
Also there’s this weird (actually!) baseless claim that Ahsoka was one of the most powerful Jedi in the Clone Wars. Which has no proof because it’s untrue—she’s a padawan with max 2 years of training. There’s no way she’s more powerful than a fully trained knight, of which there were still quite a few. But of course she is, because she’s Felony’s beloved OC who can do no wrong.
Mistake Number 5 that led to the fall of the order: Not giving Baby Murderer power
I am convinced that no one involved in writing or editing this article has actually watched RotS, and has only ever listened to Felony talk about RotS. They claim that ‘they invited Anakin over to the Council as a pseudo-member and his only task was to spy on the Chancellor. Not only was this political meddling once again, but it was also an insult to Anakin’ oh no, they insulted Anakin, clearly this means he’s justified in murdering them! Also, the Jedi Council apparently wanted to appoint Anakin, they weren’t literally forced into it by Palpatine. You know, that scene where Palpatine is like “yeah, I’ve forced the council to put you on the council even though they don’t want you there. You’re my spy on the council now” that didn’t happen actually. The Jedi were completely evil in not allowing the unstable baby murderer a full seat on their governing body when they were forced to put him there through nepotism. Them asking the only guy who’s close enough with the chancellor to investigate him because he’s overstayed his term and is overreaching with his powers is also completely evil and awful and unjustified. Uh huh.
Mistake Number 6 that led to the fall of the order: Mace Windu Wants To Kill Palpatine Right Away (direct quote from the article)
Yeah, you read that right. I can’t make this shit up, but filoni sure as fuck can. So, Mace Windu learns that the shady Chancellor that’s been overreaching with his authority and has overstated his term is also an evil Sith that has manipulated both sides of the war to gain power, causing the deaths of millions, including a shit ton of Mace’s people and friends, because said chancellor drafted them to fight in the war that he created. This would make Mace pretty damn justified in killing Palpy imo, but Mace specifically goes to arrest him for his crimes. Palpatine then kills three other Jedi Masters in cold blood and attempts to kill Mace, and when Mace beats him he still tries to arrest him—y’know that whole “You are under arrest, my lord” bit?—until the guy tries to fucking electrocute him with his fucking hands and it becomes clear that there is no way to take him in peacefully. Only after palpatine murders 3 people in front of him, attempts to murder Mace in combat, and makes it clear that he cannot be taken in alive does Mace attempt to kill him. No matter how you slice it, that’s not him wanting to kill the bitch right away.
Also the article tries to say that Anakin wanted to bring Palpatine in because he recognized that he should stand trial, which is technically what he says, but he also screams “I need him!” in that same scene so I think we know why he really doesn’t want Palpy to die.
Mistake Number 7 that led to the fall of the order: They didn’t train Luke and Leia
Now this might seem baffling because the article is supposedly talking about things that caused the fall of the order and Luke and Leia weren’t even born until after the fall of the order, but I can assure you that the article does not explain this in any way.
Still, let’s pretend this makes sense with the subject of the article and press on. The article asks what was stopping Obi Wan from training Luke as a Jedi on Tatooine. I feel like the answer might have something to do with the fact that the twins were so powerful that the Jedi were afraid that the emperor could sense them if they were next to each other. Formal training would make them stronger and more likely to be sensed, so they didn’t do it until they had to. This probably would be the most reasonable thing in here if the article wasn’t about what caused the fall of the order.
Mistake Number 8 that led to the fall of the order: Not telling Luke about Vader
Yet another Thing That Lead to the Fall of the Jedi Order that somehow happened after the fall of the order, but if I focus on that I might start screaming, so we move on.
This article leads you to believe that all the problems in ESB could’ve been solved if only Obi Wan had told Luke about Vader. Hmm. Yoda says in RoJ that Luke wasn’t ready for the information when he was told at the end of ESB, which seems very true based on the fact that Luke was unable to accept the information when told, was described by George Lucas as suicidal afterwards, and is suddenly unable to consider killing Mr. Evil Baby Murderer Space Fascist afterwards because of their family connection, and you want Obi-Wan to tell him earlier?
You know that OT Luke would, upon hearing that information before Cloud City, have immediately jumped in his X-Wing and raced to confront Vader. If he found Vader in that state, Luke would’ve been even more unbalanced and unfocused, which would’ve lead to him losing the duel worse and being either killed or captured by Vader, since Leia wouldn’t have been close enough to save him.
Mistake Number 9 that led to the fall of the order: Not believing people who had been dead for 1,000 years were back without proof
I want you to imagine a hypothetical with me: a guy that is somehow vaguely influential in politics walks up to the UN and tells them that Leif Eriksson and the Vikings are back and coming to kill everybody. This man has no proof beyond what he and a couple of people with him say , and there has been no indication of this at all before he shows up. I know in that scenario I’d want the UN to throw him out until he had proof.
That’s the modern day equivalent of Qui Gon telling the Jedi the Sith are back. He’s making a huge claim with no evidence. You can’t expect the Jedi to immediately believe him no questions asked. The instant there’s actual proof of this, we see the two most influential and powerful Jedi, Mace and Yoda, talking about how they need to look out for other Sith. They are taking the threat seriously, they just aren’t omniscient like the audience.
Mistake Number 10 that led to the fall of the order: When they were enemies of the state who would be killed if they didn’t hide, they hid
Truly, a horrible mistake. Now they’re mad at Obi Wan and Yoda for going into hiding, unlike other survivors of Order 66. Other survivors such as Kanan, Ahsoka, Cal, and Quinlan, perhaps. All of these characters went into hiding. Cal and Kanan were forced out of hiding, and Ahsoka helped with the early rebellion while remaining in hiding, but pretty much every order 66 survivor tried to go into hiding.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go cry.

Yandere Robert Chase

An: this will be general Headcanons, but if you would like a certain situation, or even just a oneshot based on These I’d be happy to write it!
Warnings: obsessive behavior, emotional manipulation, stalking
He probably met you somewhere in the hospital
Maybe you work there as a nurse, doctor, intern, or volunteer
It doesn’t really matter
He would be really mean to you at first. Condescending anytime he talks to you, if he doesn’t just ignore you completely
And yet, he seems to always be watching you. Within a few weeks, he knows your complete schedule, where you live, and the path you take to get to the hospital
He would eventually approach a relationship with you, but with the same condescending ‘you’re lucky to have me’ mindset
He makes sure you know that he’s better then you in the relationship, that you couldn’t possibly do better then him
In fact, he could do better then you so you should be grateful for the relationship
It’s not because he doesn’t have love for you though. In fact, it’s the exact opposite
He loves you so much, and he can’t imagine losing you. His solution? Make sure you won’t
Arguments would be common in the relationship
And not just the regular kind of argument. Like, screaming and throwing things at each other
And it’s always started by him; normally out of jealousy
You didn’t tell him what you were doing, you weren’t home at the normal time, you ate lunch with someone else
All reasons he’s started fights
When the fights were over he’d leave you alone for a bit before coming back to pick up the pieces
He’d hold you gently, rubbing your back and whispering in your ear. Saying he’s sorry, that he loves you
That you were awful for what you did but he would forgive you
But he’s also the perfect boyfriend around others
Loving, into pda, protective. Why wouldn’t you stay with him
Just the ways others would react to your relationship would be enough to convince you that you should stay with him
If he really cares for you that much, then maybe he’s right. Maybe you should just agree with him.

Flufftober 14 - Star Wars
Poe Dameron x Reader
Tumblr media
A rumour circulated in the Resistance : Poe Dameron, Black Leader, the best pilot, was not afraid of anything.
Absolutely nothing, ever.
He was ready to do anything to win the war against the New Republic. Of course, he didn't want to lose his squad, he did everything to get everyone back to base after each mission, he stood in front of them, ready to take the shots for them, drawing the ships behind him to create a diversion, when he was not doing loops and other dangerous figures only to amuse the people of the Resistance in order to cheer them up.
Even though they were all very impressed, people still trembled a little when they saw him do it. Oh, they knew he was the best, as his reputation said, but they didn't want anything to happen to him.
Some of his relatives told him so, begging him to be more careful, like General Organa, Finn or Rey. It just made him laugh.
Then there was Y/N, who also ordered him to stop his nonsense, but for other reasons.
"Your ship is in for a pitiful state. Again."
"My ship is doing very well !"
"As good as your droid ! Poor BB8, you're all broke. Your owner is such a fool."
"I take very good care of BB8 and my ship !"
"You are the pilot and I am the mechanic, I am the one who says if you take good care of your devices, and my verdict is clear, you suck !"
"OH ! Take that back !"
Every time he returned to the base, Poe would park in the same spot in the hangar, and people were wondering if it was because he was fearless, headless, or something else, because he knew very well that it was this section that Y/N was responsible for, and that she systematically criticized him.
"Do you know how much time I have to spend on your ship's repairs, Dameron ?" she growled. "You are not alone here, the others also need me to check that everything is fine before leaving. I don't want there to be an accident during the flights."
"Well darling, if you're being so thorough because you're worried about me, you can tell me, and you can stop, because as the best pilot in the resistance, I know what I'm doing."
"I don't care if you crash into an asteroid, I don't want this jewel I've been working on for hours to have a single scratch. And I want BB8 back at the base !"
"So it's fine, since my ship is perfect and BB8 follows me everywhere !" he said with a forced smile.
"He follows you everywhere to prevent you from doing stupid things !"
           "Beep beep !"
"You... BB, you're supposed to be on my side ! Come on, I can fix you myself, while Miss Mechanic pretends to take care of my perfect ship !"
"I'm going to make it even more perfect, and I'll check everything you've done to this poor droid to keep it from falling apart !"
From the other end of the hangar, Finn and Rey watched the scene, still the same, wondering if they should intervene.
After the third argument, it seemed obvious to the apprentice jedi that these two were idiots who dared not admit their feelings to each other. Finn hadn't been immediately convinced, but after the sixteenth argument, he was beginning to see what she meant.
"It's like a courtship. They go like they hate each other, but they actually love each other."
"Why don't they just tell each other ?" asked the former stormtrooper.
"Because they are stupid, like many people. They wonder if the other shares their feelings, and they are afraid of being rejected. They may also be afraid of what other people will say if they are together. And it's war, it's dangerous to get attached to someone."
Rey was right to say that. When the base was attacked, there was panic, and everyone tried to flee by saving the most people and bringing the most equipment, so they could continue to fight later.
In a panic, Poe focused on what was around him, the General, BB8, Finn, Rey and his squad. Together they managed to repel the enemy troops long enough for evacuation, then they joined the resistance in their new hideout.
It was upon landing that Poe immediately noticed something was wrong.
Y/N wasn't there to greet him with her criticisms and check to see if he had broken anything.
"... Where's Y/N ?" he asked several people in the hangar.
           "I don't know. I haven't seen her."
           "Not seen... Since when ?"
"During the attack. She was helping pilots in the North Complex. I don't know what happened to her after. Sorry."
Ignoring anyone who wished to speak to him to thank him for saving them or to ask him what they should do next, Poe ran all over the new base, looking for Y/N.
She wasn't in the infirmary. Nor in the private quarters being set up. Nor in the command room
Totally panicked, followed by BB, who was rolling behind him as fast as he could, Poe tried not to cry as he raced down the halls.
Until he bumped into someone  who was carrying several boxes.
"I hope you take a better look at where you're going when you're in your ship, Dameron."
           "... Y/N !"
Not giving her time to understand what was going on, not even having time to think himself, Poe took her in his arms, suddenly feeling relieved.
She was there, she was alive.
Timidly, still holding her boxes with one arm, she patted his back, sighing and resting her head on his shoulder.
"I take it your ship needs some repairs ? I heard you had a few issues up there before you could blow them all up."
"Yeah. It may need some repairs."
"Hmm. I'll go take care of it."
           "Wait. Wait a bit."
They stood here, hugging for several more minutes, until Y/N was too embarrassed by the people watching them.
Then there was a new rumour in the resistance : Poe Dameron, the best pilot, and his mechanic, liked each other. But, like... Liked liked.
And if there was one thing that scared Black Leader, it was to lose her.

Will Character Analysis: Panic Attacks
I did a breakdown of Will's character a few weeks ago after my first read-through of TSATS. I went back and reread the book (mostly because I'm obsessed), and I noticed something that I don't think a lot of people picked up on. Will was having panic/anxiety attacks throughout the course of the book.
I think this is extremely important to recognize because it gives us a better understanding of why Will was reacting the way he was during the entire quest. It also answers some questions that I previously had.
As someone who has severe anxiety and suffers from panic/anxiety attacks, it makes complete sense that Will would also. He is forced into uncomfortable and challenging situations that he can't control. He feels useless and incompetent, especially when it comes to helping his boyfriend. And he already felt lonely, scared, and unsure before they even started. Combine all that with overstimulation and stress and you've got yourself a great recipe for mental disaster.
If you don't want TSATS spoilers, I suggest stop reading here. I'm going to provide some examples from the book to help me out. This will also be pretty long tbh lol.

The Subway Ride:
As they were leaving the station, Nico asked Will to stop shaking his leg (an anxious habit). Soon after this, Nico noted that Will had closed his eyes and started using a breathing technique. He also said that Will did this often to calm down and decided to leave his boyfriend alone.
Breathing techniques are a very common way to help prevent an attack or calm them down. I've had it drilled into my head that breathing techniques are one of the first things to do when I feel overly anxious/upset.
As a healer, Will most likely knows about these and uses them to help keep calm. He had just experienced a very stressful taxi ride (which he is described as clinging to the seatbelt for dear life) and is now on a train to start his journey to Tartarus. I'd be freaking out too.

The Trog Tunnels:
The second time Will exhibited an attack was when they were crawling through the tunnels with the Trogs to get to Menoetius farm. Will was complaining about feeling closed in and felt like the tunnel would collapse. He also started feeling nauseous, woozy, and forgetful. The second they left the tunnel, Will immediately needed to rest. He kept his eyes closed and felt better once he had a minute to breath.
These are all symptoms of a panic/anxiety attack. While symptoms definitely range based on the severity of an attack, the most common ones are dizziness, nausea, and brain fog. This is because your brain is tricked into thinking what is happening is a life-or-death situation. It's pumping adrenaline into your body, but there's nothing happening physically to you. This leaves you with a body filled with energy and a mind screaming with chaos.
The only way to really stop these attacks is to sit down somewhere you feel comfortable (literally anywhere but a tunnel in Will's case) and calm yourself down.

The Tartarus Argument:
The fourth example is the argument Will and Nico had after the whole pigeon fiasco. The power of anxiety leads you into overthinking and what was Will doing? He believed that Nico was going to abandon him and that he deserved it. He was 100% convinced of this despite Nico's very stubborn loyalty trait. Will literally broke down in gasping sobs, unable to think of anything but being left behind.
Will had been facing attack after attack since this moment that he finally just broke. When faced with doubt and fear and panic towards the one he loves, towards the person he trusts, coming back from that brink is almost impossible.

Tartarus:
Will was basically in a constant state of panic during the entire Tartarus trip. He was pale, shaky, loopy, and irritated. The rational brain train had left the station and it was not coming back.

As a fellow struggler of anxiety and attacks, I'm glad they added this side of anxiety, even if it was never explicitly stated. I believe that it was purposeful that both authors didn't state that Will was having attacks because it is a sensitive and heavy topic that is hard to discuss, especially when they were covering a bunch of other bases.
The main reason I wanted to make this though was again to drive him the point that Will was not a whiny, weak-spined character. He was struggling with his own anxiety and fears which drove him to act the way he did. I always see people preaching the importance of supporting others, yet my dash is filled with angry, hateful comments towards a character that is meant to represent people like me.

We as a fandom are rlly underestimating how confused and *hurt* Mike is gonna feel when he finds out Will lied about the painting like-
Quick disclaimer before I explain: this is not any sort of Will slander. I love Will Byers so much only Mike Wheeler could top how much I love Will kdkdjsjj
Ok now with that said, let’s look at the whole PaintingSituationTM from Mike’s perspective:
As far as Mike is concerned, he’s pretty much told Will multiple times that he doesn’t feel like his relationship with El is working anymore. He’s thinks he’s being clear, and he probably just assumes Will understands that since Will has *always* been able to understand Mike instantly.
Unfortunately, he’s completely unaware that Will is convinced Mike is in love with El because Will fully and wholeheartedly believes that he’s wrong for how he feels abt Mike, and Mike being in love with his sister is some sort of karma. This is what causes Will to push Mike towards El in a misguided but well meaning attempt to make him feel better. To will, it doesn’t really matter if he’s lying, because *of course* El needs Mike, who wouldn’t need Mike? Will needs Mike, and if El and Mike are in love, of course El would feel the exact same way, right?
But Mike doesn’t know any of this. All he knows is that his best friend (that he’s also in love with) is actively pushing him back into his relationship with El. Even if Mike is confused by what Will said abt El’s feelings, since it doesn’t add up with what he *knows* is happening between them, he chooses to believe Will bc if there’s anyone that would always, *always* be honest with Mike, it was Will, and Mike knows that Will would never push Mike back into his crumbling relationship with El based on only a lie… or so he thinks.
Now, Mike is once again under the impression that El still needs him romantically, hence his speech in surfer boys, where he tells El what he *thinks* she wants to hear from him in a desperate attempt to save her life. He also most likely feels like he owes it to El to try and love her romantically, since he *does* love her, and he thinks she needs it to be romantic, so he makes himself try bc if there’s anything we know about Mike wheeler, it’s that he feels like he needs to be *needed* in order to be worthy of someone’s love (someone plz give this boy a hug omfg).
Alright, keeping in mind all that messy context, let’s go back to what we know about m*leven. It’s pretty likely that El is gonna break up with Mike in the first (or maybe second) episode of s5, and she’s gonna tell him he shouldn’t have lied, and that she doesn’t need him the way he thinks she does. El’s gonna dump Mike’s ass again and enter her girlboss era (Max will be so proud). This…. Is gonna leave Mike HELLA confused. Why did El ask Will to make that painting about how she needed Mike if she didn’t??
And it’ll click for him: Will lied. Mike’s not gonna understand why, all he’ll know is that Will lied to him about El’s feelings and basically set Mike up for failure. Mike’s gonna be confused and hurt just from that alone, not to mention that fact that he’s ALSO still trying to come to terms with how he feels about Will, even though Will unintentionally gave Mike a set back for that. And we know Mike wheeler, when he gets really confused and upset about his relationship to and with Will (guys, trust me, unaddressed mutual gay feelings can make a friendship a MIND FIELD) what does he do? He gets angry and lashes out.
In conclusion, this is gonna massively blow up in Will’s face, and byler is going to have their worst argument yet. If we think the rain fight in s3 was bad, this is gonna be so. Much. Worse.
On the plus side, the fights gonna obliterate most if not all of Mike and Will’s built up miscommunication, so we’re gonna get a high payoff, it’s just gonna hurt really badly first 🥲
If you made it this far thank you for reading all of this and I hope you enjoyed kdjsjsj
I love analyzing these two so much I think abt them 24/7 it’s a problem 💀

adding to that earlier discusion abt morality
one of my fav characters is jesse pinkman and while he does bad things like killings i dont think he is a good person he kind of reminds me of levi because they both never enjoy hurting other and both care a lot about kids
so when jesse (spoilers ahead) killed this guy gale he was shown to really be affected by that and he spiralled into toxic behaviours. he didnt want to kill him but walter make him do so. so while yeah he did a bad thing he isnt a bad person.
Hey there, and as always, thanks for your asks!
The thing that's being claimed about "Attack on Titan" by people making this argument, that killing is always wrong, and so killing automatically makes you a bad person, is that the story itself pushes this message, but it doesn't. AoT doesn't actually present any, definitive answer on the question at all. It doesn't show us or try to convince us one way or another that killing is right OR wrong. All it does is present scenarios in which violence breaks out, and the various reactions to that violence and the subsequent outcomes of those reactions. It doesn't condemn or approve either reaction, but simply presents the circumstances and lets the audience decide for themselves what they feel is right or wrong based on those circumstances. Levi conveys this idea, and really encapsulates the nonjudgmental nature of the story itself, when he tells Jean that he doesn't himself know what's right or wrong, but only knows what the factual reality of the situation was, that reality being, if Armin hadn't killed the woman from Kenny's squad, Jean himself would now be dead, and the rest of them might be as well. He thanks Armin for his sacrifice, but also tells Jean that he should decide for himself what he believes is right and wrong. He doesn't try to impose any definitive answer or opinion on any member of his squad regarding the moral question of killing.
Armin says "we're bad people now" after they've killed other people, but Armin also refuses Reiner's offer to sit out fighting the Yeagerists at the dock just to keep his hands clean. Armin in that moment is acknowledging that it would be selfish to refuse to engage in violence only to preserve his sense of moral comfort and righteousness. The situation was desperate, and if Armin had refused to fight the Yeagerists, they never would have managed to obtain the airplane, and so they never would have been able to engage with Eren and, as a result, countless millions of people would have died.
So does that make Armin a bad person, because he engaged in violence to save millions of lives? Does this question even need to be asked?
Similarly, if killing is always wrong, and if killing someone automatically makes you a bad person, regardless of circumstance, does that mean it was wrong to kill Eren in the end, and does it make Mikasa and the others bad people for doing so, even though it saved millions of lives?
Instead of asking Armin if he thinks he's a good person or a bad person based on his actions in these situations, maybe it would yield a more accurate answer to ask the millions of people who were able to go on living because Armin chose to kill.
My point is, this question of what makes someone a good person and what makes someone a bad person can't be boiled down to ones actions alone. To judge the worth of someone's character based on their actions, without taking into consideration the mitigating circumstances surrounding those actions, the intent behind those actions, or a person's genuine feelings about those actions, is completely unfair and reductive. That sort of thinking and judgment only leads to making unfair and unjust generalizations and assumptions about others, which, as AoT shows us itself, can lead down some very bad roads indeed.
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Morality is not a static concept. Calling someone "morally grey" is stupid, because morality itself is grey. No question of morality is set in stone. No question of morality is immutable. Like everything in life, morality and questions of right or wrong are dependent, always, on circumstance. How we measure ones morality isn't based on their actions alone, but on the reasons behind those actions.
Are we meant to accept that Levi is an immoral person because he kills other people? Regardless of the reasons for him killing? Regardless of his intentions or feelings? Are we supposed to condemn him as a monster and a bad man because he kills, and just ignore the motivation behind the action? Does Levi's kindness, compassion, selflessness and genuine desire to help others not count for anything simply because he's taken another person's life? Are Levi's positive qualities rendered worthless because he's engaged in violence?
That's what people who claim that killing another person automatically makes you a bad person, regardless of the reasons or circumstances, are saying.
They're saying, that because Levi has killed other people, it doesn't matter what the reason was, and it doesn't matter what his intention was, and it doesn't matter how he feels about it, he's bad for the act alone, and nothing else about him counts or redeems him. He doesn't get to qualify as a good person anymore, because he's violated some other persons fantasy about the immutability of moral principles.
It's stupid to try and make definitive statements on moral principles at all, because, again, morality isn't contingent on principle itself. It's contingent on circumstance and intention. If you kill someone because you think it's fun to do so, then that's morally wrong. If you kill someone to save your own life, or someone else' life, then that's morally right. Killing on its own can't be deemed morally right OR wrong. It's simply an action, one which alone does not reflect a persons moral values or worth.
Levi can be stated to be a moral person because he only kills in self-defense or in defense of others. He doesn't kill for personal pleasure or satisfaction. He doesn't kill out of petty revenge. He doesn't kill to win himself accolades or glory. He doesn't kill to hurt anyone. He kills when either himself or someone else is being threatened, and that's it.
Levi is irrefutably a good person because he contains within him multiple qualities which by any standard would mark him out as such. He genuinely cares about and wants to protect other people. He's deeply empathetic and sensitive to other people's feelings and wishes. He's incredibly kind and shows immense compassion toward other people and their circumstances, and does all he can to alleviate their suffering. He's selfless to a fault. He values life more than anyone else, and wants and tries to do all he can to preserve life.
To dismiss all of that, simply because Levi has killed other people to defend his own and other people lives, is not only unfair, it's frankly disgusting.

Hope - Clay Miller x Reader
Friday 13th (2009) Oneshot
Tumblr media
Warnings: Some cringy dialogue ( let's face it,the group are all cringy stereotypes lol). Allusions to Jason's story and some grim warnings regarding him. I'm also expanding the new rule introduced in the 2009 film, where sense of familiarity with his past not only distracted him but also made him spare a life for a while.
Summary: You are the only person who has given Clay any hope on the desperate search for his sister. Unlike most of the locals he had approached, some mysterious reason keeps you convinced that she could still be alive and on this determination you join forces with him.
Nobody else seems to mind about it and when the blatant disrespect from a tourist really pisses you off, you stand up for Clay giving him a frightening show exposing why he should care.
Tags: @drum-bot-brian
It was weird for Clay to find a self presented volunteer when the entire community was ignoring him, but when you approached him with the missing poster in hand offering your help he felt slightly relieved. At least he wasn’t completely alone and although you were a bit odd, you had a strong will to support him. Looking at Whitney’s picture, you simply stated that she looked like a sweet girl and that could possibly mean she could still be around. When asked about it, you acted as if some intuition based on practical knowledge would be telling you that. You wouldn’t tell him why, but you were convinced that she was still to be found.
Of course, it was not going to be easy and the shitty attitudes you would find in the way were unnerving. The handsome, soft tempered boy you were following had the patience of a saint, but you wouldn’t stand it. The tone deaf blond guy at the gas station was the moment when you knew you had enough.
After a very brief argument Clay was just going to leave, but you had other plans.
“ He will wreck you.” You casually told the stranger in a sinister tone. “ Mock us while you still can, blondie. I believe his sister has a chance ... You? Not so much."
Everyone was weirded, but he thought you were just looking for a fight.
“ Yeah, I don’t think so.” Was his self satisfying reply. “ You, him and who else?”
It made you chuckle and you struggled for it not to turn into a full loud cackle.
“ You aren’t from here, aren’t you? " You followed, giving a few steps closer to him with a weirdly intimidating demeanor. “ People don’t get to be jerks here and walk out harmless, the forest has eyes and its guardian loathes people like you the most..”
The asshole clearly didn't get to fully comprehend the meaning of your words. Still, you managed to creep him and his girlfriend, what was enough vengeance for you. The most inmediate reaction you obtained for Clay was a bit of hard to hide laughing, probably thinking that you were just messing with the guy, but he did capture some underneath intentionality in your strange warning.
He trully thought it was a joke, untill he later referenced it again in a lighter note and your face let him know it wasn't a funny little scheme he should feel thankfull for.
" You don't have to thank me, it's all real. " You cutted him off. " Weird things happen arround here, the kind that nobody would believe. People go missing to never be found and we pretend is not our problem … I need to help you because i really like you and you HAVE to get out from here as soon as possible. "
Your hand was shaking and he held it as as a reassuring gesture before inviting you to continue.
" If you know anything that could make this easier, please share it. "
Your soft look adquired a glimpse of skepticism.
" It doesn't matter. Even if i try to explain you, it would be impossible to make you understand. One does not believe it untill you see it and very few survive to tell the tale. "
He smiled and you couldn't help to internally melt to the softness in his expression.
" I promise i will believe you. Or at least I will do my best, anything that may help me understand would be amazing ríght now. "
The indirectly mocking tone in the last part made you smile back, then you swallowed hard ríght before starting your tale.
" To many persons he can mean different things, but I see him as a guardian of the forest. Not necesarily of the enviromental care type, but we know he hunts down people for doing stupid shit. It's a sort of local legend: a bullied kid who died back in the old summer camp and now remains as an undead watcher of the area. Legend says that once triggered he can't be stopped, but i believe different and that's why i feel your sister could be alive. "
He wasn't getting it, but kept himself loyal to the promise and didn't question you. His guess was in myth and reality mixing up to end up covering the activity of a serial killer whose victims were attributed to the legend by the locals.
One way or another, it wasn't the hopefull take he once expected.
" What made you think that? Besides from an obvious bias coming from your interest in me."
You felt a bit embarrased, but it didn't ruined your disposition to continue.
" I believe he is capable of sparing a life only when coming across things he finds familar. I saw it happening with my own two eyes. "
It wasn't easy, but you had to tell him the truth.
" Back in highschool I wanted so badly to belong, to feel how was like to be a part of something. I was hanging out with people who just wanted to make fun of me, fooling myself into believing someday i could be friends. "
You began to cry, pausing for an instant untill the sobbing would be slow enough to allow you finish.
" … They are gone and i'm still here. Common sense would be thinking i just hid myself well, i fooled him. I didn't, i can't help thinking he just pretended not to spot me. The pathetic, lonely, bullied looser must have have hitted close to home. "
You hugged him out of sudden and he didn't protest about it. Of all the weird things you said, he only understood you were admitting to be the only survivor of a massacre.
" Your sister seems like a lovely girl. If i'm still breathing, you can count there is hope for her. "
He had no words that could possibly express any processing of what you just told him, but trully appreciated the deep comfort of your embrace.

AITA for wanting to go back home?
this might sound weird, but it did cause an actual argument at the time! i am already back home by now, but i’m wondering if i was in the wrong anyway.
So, a bit of backstory. I have always been a fan of this fantasy character- we’ll call him P. he’s immortal and in the stories he lives in a magical island where he is friends with a fairy and he fights pirates and lives with some other guys in a hidden home somewhere on that magical island.
me and my two younger brothers always love playing based on these stories and i also always like making up more new stories about these characters. this was always very fun, even if our father wasn’t a fan of all of this for some reason.
eventually one night, our dog was barking at an open window and had something peculiar in her mouth. it might sound weird, but that thing turned out to be the shadow of P!
he actually visited me the next night to collect his shadow and i sewed it back on for him. then he took me- and after some convincing my brothers too- with him to that magical island where he lives. it was incredible there, especially at first. the views were amazing and i had a lot of fun there. however it was also very dangerous, and after getting attacked by pirates and almost drowned by mermaids and then witnessing these pirates kidnap some innocent girl for no reason- i realized that i would rather go back to my boring but safe life in london.
my brothers decidedly did not want to go back home when i first brought it up, but i managed to convince them eventually. naturally i then brought that up to P and he was not happy about this. he got really angry and said if i went home and grew up i could never ever come back to him or see him again and stormed off. he did say we could go, he just made it very clear that he was not a fan of that plan.
we ended up going outside to somehow go home, but we got kidnapped by those pirates immediately after. fortunately, P got a grip and ended up saving us and then he was the one who brought us home on that pirate ship, but i keep thinking about how upset he was when i said i wanted to leave. i now think that he felt hurt because we were basically leaving him alone- and we even took those friends he used to live with along, so really he was now all alone on that magical island. except for that fairy friend of his, but she can be difficult.
so AITA?

A gift for @pyrriax as part of the @mcytblrholidayexchange !
Full disclosure I restarted about 4 times and then got really hyperfixated on crochet, but! I finished and I think it came out pretty good
Trapped in an Unyielding Orbit
Summary: The void has been following (haunting?) Planet for a while now. No one else seems to realize that they can't escape its cold gaze.
Characters: Planetlord, Spokeishere, Ashwagg and Zam very briefly, Jaron and Bacon mentioned
Tags: Haunting, Paranoia, Planet uses they/them pronouns, Spoke uses it/its pronouns, Cannibalism, Temporary Character Death
Word Count: 1852
Something has been following Planetlord, something dark and looming and never quite there when they turn around to try and catch it. Something that causes their stars to shrink in closer to their head as though it will pluck away their hearts one by one. Their teammates don't believe them, even when they feel it in the room as they all work together to regear. Bacon and Jaron just laugh and shrug off their worries, even though they know they're being followed. They don't know what to do, because it feels like the void is pressing in on all sides around them, like at any moment they're going to be swallowed whole.
They shiver, feeling the now familiar chill that happens whenever it’s back. There are eyes staring into them, as though it’s looking into their very soul, watching the way their stars circle their head. They look out of the corner of their eye, trying to catch a glimpse of it, but as always, there’s nothing but a blur of motion. They can’t focus on this right now, they have plans, they’re meeting with Zam in less than an hour for some girl talk, they can’t be freaking out about this shadow while trying to convince Zam to not be afraid of Mapicc.
It would weaken their argument, at the very least. And if they can’t convince Zam that he’s safe(r) with them, then he’ll never lower his guard enough for them to be able to follow him to the Eclipse base. They go through the nether portal, feeling the all encompassing heat for only a moment before they feel the chill of those eyes on them again. They shiver, pulling their hoodie closer to them as they begin the journey along the nether roof. Sometimes, when they’re alone like this, they can almost hear a voice whispering to them, asking about their stars, asking where they’re going and why. Asking about their teammates, and how easy it would be to get rid of them. Asking what they would do if they were alone. They actually answered that one before, snapping that they would revive them, it’s not like they’re short on materials, not like they don’t have time.
The void found that hilarious, a booming laugh followed by taunts and mirth. It's never actually hurt them, but they don't know if that's because it's waiting or because it's just messing with them. They just want to stop feeling this cold, this on edge; they're sick and tired of being the bug trapped under the magnifying glass.
They leave the nether, trying to ignore how they can almost feel breath on the back of their neck. It must be in a good mood today, as it gives them space as they talk to Zam, only reappearing towards the end. They feel it's (probably) metaphorical fingers wrap around their shoulder, and then the strangest thing happens.
Zam gets scared.
And that isn't that strange on its own, Zam gets scared all the time these days, paranoid to the point of poor health, but he's staring right past Planet's head, right over his shoulder as though he can see something that no one else can. Planet opens their mouth, ready to ask questions: what is it, what does it want? But Zam cuts him off with a smile that seems even more forced than normal.
“Anyways, I feel great now, Planetlord. Thank you for your help and for talking to me. I will, uh, see you again. At some point.” Zam is scared. Terrified even, at whatever he sees over Planet's shoulder. He doesn't even give Planet a chance to question him, hopping on his horse and riding off towards the nether portal.
Planet has so many questions. No one has ever acted as though they can see their… ghost? the demon haunting them? The void that's going to swallow them whole when they die…? Bacon and Jaron have never seen it, teasing them whenever they try to bring it up as though it's some kind of prank. But, for whatever reason, it allowed Zam to see it, and it terrified him.
Granted, everything these days scares Zam, comes with the whole “Mapicc hunting him for sport” thing.
Still, it feels like they were given a hint, or something. It chose to show itself to Zam for a reason. What does Zam know that Planet, or Bacon or Jaron, wouldn't? He's more involved with the factions of the world right now, taking a stand against duplicated items and now the gods popping up around the world. Could it be that simple? Does it have to do with the God Mobs? Planet doesn't know, and they aren't sure if they're going to get an answer, with the way it refuses to show itself to anyone other than Zam.
Planet sighs, walking along the path of spawn, feeling the weight of the void's stare. They have plans, things they need to get done, but instead they're always worried about when, not if, the thing turns hostile. Everything goes wrong eventually, so even though nothing has happened yet, they know that things will turn.
They hop down a small ledge, feeling the claws of the void tug lightly at their jacket as they land. And then they hear the hiss. They barely turn in time to see the creeper before it explodes. They can feel as one of their stars fades as their vision goes dark. This is just their luck, dropping down to two hearts. and in such an embarrassing way too.
They wake at spawn. One of the others must have moved the bed and forgot to tell them again. They're lying in the grass, taking a moment to regain their bearings before they try to recover their items. In the distance, they can see Ashwagg as he shows off his newly discovered flight to another unsuspecting member of the server. They watch halfheartedly as they consider their new predicament. They have more than enough netherite, hell, they're pretty sure they have a couple more hearts lying around that they could use. But more importantly, dying like that affects people's opinions of them, and their team. They aren't weak, but it's easy to write them off as not being a threat because of the silly (normal) ways they die. Eventually, Planet's going to change that, they have very big plans for the future, but right now they mostly just want to have fun.
As they watch Ashwagg, the sky grows darker. Alarmingly quickly, the sky is blotched out and covered in darkness. This has to be it. The void finally finds them weak enough that it's coming to finish them off. It's like a warden's blindness amplified by a thousand. Ash looks up, panic and confusion flashing across the static of his face.
And Planet realizes, oh, this is real.
Ash can see the darkness. Whatever this void is, it’s visible to the world. It has a tangible, physical presence that other people can see and feel. At least this way, if they're banned off the server before they have a chance to get more hearts, people will know what happened to them and they won't have to cover their face in embarrassment if or when their teammates revive them.
As the world goes black around them, two clawed hands of void reach out towards them, turning into an inky black form with a rainbow headband. Its eyes are pure white, a stark contrast to Planet's own form, and as its mouth opens it seems to tear the space around it apart.
“Hey, have I got just the thing you need, Planet Lord.” The voice is cocky and drawn out, a wide grin forming on its face. “Since you had your little… accident.”
“What…?” Planet trails off, there are too many questions they want to ask.
“Your creeper incident.” It steps closer and Planet tries to scramble back. It's like they're pinned in place, they can't bring themself to move even an inch. “But you are going to owe me, can't just be handing out this sort of thing for free.”
It holds out its hand, a small iridescent orb pulsing in a rainbow of colors sitting innocently on top of its palm. As it moves closer to Planet the shape changes, becoming closer to one of their stars. It's offering them a heart. A genuine one, not one disguised just enough to pass a trade.
“What do you want for it?” Their voice doesn't shake, they're forcing out their standard lowkey persona even as something this powerful stands before them. It has the power to plunge the world into darkness; what could it possibly want from them?
It laughs, a booming laugh that feels like it's sending pins through their hands and feet. “Let's just call it an… IOU. A favor for me to cash in later, doesn't that sound fair to you?”
If it was any normal player, an IOU would be a very dangerous thing to give out. Telling someone you'll do whatever they want in the future is, well, stupid, frankly. But this is even worse, there is something wrong with the figure standing in front of them. They open their mouth just to close it again as they think about how much harm it could force them to do.
“I'm waiting.” It whines, drawing out the words like a perturbed child who was told they could go home in five minutes ten minutes ago.
“Fine. Okay.” They don't want to make it mad, not when they really need the heart and it could decide to kill them at any moment.
“I knew you would end up seeing things my way! Open up, Planet Lord.” The void lunges towards them even faster than they could have imagined it moving. Grabbing them by the skull and forcing their jaw open.
The star morphs into a beating heart, and as Planet is made to bite down on it they wonder how the thing manages to have such an influence on the appearance of hearts. The blood runs down their chin, inky and thick as they chew. They feel as the star they lost reforms, their heart count returning back to three. The void smiles at them, mouth tearing open into menacingly sharp teeth. They brush the blood from their face with the back of their hand, ignoring the way that it shakes slightly.
The void laughs, cheerful and spine chilling, and it steps away from them. The figure fades away into the darkness, leaving Planet with a whispered “don't forget our deal, Planet.”
The darkness fades away, leaving them sitting in the middle of spawn with no trace of anything happening other than the smear of blood on the back of their hand.
“Planetlord. Planet.” They look up quickly, seeing Ashwagg standing above them. “What was that?”
“I don't know what you're talking about.” Their mouth moves without them being in control of it. The air on their skin is warm, but there is a bone deep chill in their core.

i keep coming back to episode 4 whenever i see discussions about Ed’s mental state. because the subversion of everything izzy tells us about Ed, while not groundbreaking, is so beautifully executed over the course of the episode
when we truly meet Ed, we’re supposed to be intimidated by him. we’ve only seen him in glimpses, either in the shadows or striding out of the smoke on the Spanish ship. and while he watches stede sleep, he’s quiet and contemplative. only breaking his vigil to tell Lucius to count backwards. which honestly came off as a threatening power move of sorts. like, do as i say and get out of here or else. no real rhyme or reason, just trying to scare him, right?
but when he meets the crew, when he finally talks to stede, he comes off as a little silly. kind. fun. compassionate. he’s ecstatic over the fact Buttons is a bird guy. fascinated by stede’s eccentricity and the auxiliary wardrobe. casual and cool and excitable about stuff like model ships. watching the clouds and finding funny shapes in them. and then of course he asks stede if he wants to do something weird
the bit with the wardrobe change really drives home what izzy is saying at first. oh, he’s distracted. oh, he’s just messing around. he never takes it seriously. he’s flighty. unmanageable and hard to work for. this little role play seems totally out of left field and like they’re just wasting time when their lives are in danger. the Spanish are coming! so of course izzy is mad!!
but then izzy’s argument unravels so beautifully in one scene. Ed asks Stede “what is Blackbeard going to do?” because that’s who stede is playing at right? Lucius strides back into frame and suddenly his counting down comes into sharp, terrifying focus. they’re out of time. stede doesn’t have a plan. he holds everyone’s life in his hands and THAT is what Ed is dealing with on an every day basis, not izzy. the crew is looking to blackbeard, now stede, and he’s failed them by not taking it seriously
but Ed has. the entire time. he used Lucius as a timer. the clouds to tell the weather. he was well aware of what would happen with the fog based on the date and the sky alone and knew how to save them before anyone even brought the threat to his attention. all of these little idiosyncrasies and quirks purposefully and masterfully sprinkled throughout the episode, leading to this moment where we realize the brilliance he was capable of the whole time. he makes one mistake with the leap year. but then in a scene that’s a testimony to where their relationship will go, he works with stede in a way he never could with izzy to hatch a backup plan. leads stede and the rest of the crew through it and even gives them positive feedback to boot
and then, of course, the final scene with izzy. i’ve seen a lot of talk about how Ed never had a plan to kill stede, he comes up with it to placate izzy. but i don’t think that’s true. he asks stede to swap clothes right after stede introduces the idea of retirement. we’ve just learned how fast Ed’s brain works. he says to izzy what if they found a body about the same size as mine, but unrecognizable? burned and mangled? what better way to find a match than trying on their clothes? do i think he was ever going to follow through, especially with his murder related trauma? no. you could already see the regret in his eyes. but i think he thought he could convince himself. oh the fire or someone or something else will get him, not me directly. and then, of course, a fateful boat party, a scrap of silk, and a spark of hope tucked gently into his chest. he was history
all of this to say: the writers took an entire episode to prove how wrong izzy was. to show how capable, competent, and confident Ed is at his job. they introduce us to a scary storybook blackbeard to turn that narrative on its head multiple times and give us a picture of the full, complex man. is he bored? sure. doesn’t care what happens to him? absolutely (don’t even get me started on the guess i could try dying of it all. honey, that’s suicidal ideation). it’s too easy and he needs excitement. but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t take it seriously. so WHY do white fans keep insisting that we should feel sorry for izzy and that he’s just doing his job and taking care of Ed?
izzy being surprised by Ed’s capability lets us know he’s unreliable. acting like he does all the work (even though he failed at his job 2 episodes in a row) and needs to keep an eye on Ed who is perfectly capable of taking care of himself. the writers use this episode to show us this is BULLSHIT. so even when Ed becomes the Kraken, we know from all of this previous context they’ve given us that he’s perfectly in control. he’s wrong and he’s heartbroken and he’s hurting. but he knows what he’s doing and it sure isn’t izzy who’s going to knock any sense into him
izzy wants power. he wants Ed to show a semblance of instability so he can jump in as a toxic white savior and take the credit for the legend of blackbeard he’s played very little part in. start questioning why people chose to take the white man’s narrative at face value when he’s proven wrong time and time again. and next time you see someone going on about how izzy is so right about Ed needing him as a voice of reason, go back to the text and see what the writers intended that voice to say
