Behold, a playlist titled "songs to offend your grandparents with". I plan on subtly queuing it up after the songs I'm choosing for my mom in the car next week, and seeing what my grandparents have to say, askdjaskdj.

My brain is on fire same I can’t sleep and am thinking of this:
The way she writes about marriage/family/commitment through these different situations across the album is soooooooooo interesting.
You have a very intense first experience of it in “The Manuscript,” where it is first dangled in front of her/the narrator’s young, impressionable self as shorthand for real love in a situation that ended up being smoke and mirrors. She’s being told everything she wants to hear by someone who basically thinks it’s just foreplay. In the end, when it’s clear that the other person has no intention of actually making a life with her, it makes her feel used, but she forces herself to recalibrate and become the girl she thinks he and all the other hes want her to be. Easy breezy cool. But there’s a sense of loss in realizing those hopes were merely banter to the other.
You have the “grown up” version of it alluded to in “So Long, London” and “How Did It End?”, the years of putting in work to save a relationship and the “deflation of our dreaming leaving [her] bereft and reeling” leading to them “calling it all off.” The implication is clearly that they built a home together with plans for next steps at a point in time, but the commitment is shattered. (Obviously to me it sounds like marriage.) She’s bitter at spending her “prime” years with someone who ultimately didn’t want to be there, even if he couldn’t or wouldn’t admit it himself.
She felt like she did everything she was supposed to, but they were learning the right steps to different dances at as it were. Those dreams were at one point shared, but in the end they weren’t right for each other and she admits that, though bitterly (“I founded the club she’s heard great things about” eg the years she put in for him to help him grow up will end up benefiting his new lover, “but I’m not the one,” “you’ll find someone,” etc.). Mixed in with all this of her resentment of him wasting her youth (sacrificing herself at the altar), and his resentment of her for reasons less defined, and insinuations of betrayal in the shadows. The fantasy of the whole package disappears into the ether, yet she still has no answers as to how they got there.
Then in comes the wolf in sheep’s clothing in many of the rest of the songs, the one who promises her all those things she’s dreamed of since she was a kid instantly. After years of moulding herself to other men’s desires, someone comes in and tells her exactly what she wants to hear at the most vulnerable time of her life, as though the universe is answering her prayers, like some sort of cosmic payback for all she’s suffered, and it’s the most intoxicating drug of all. She’s gone from her wish for a family life feeling like she’s in a way being used for her body, to it being used as a chain to a relationship gone sour, to having someone put a metaphorical ring on her finger and tell her he wants to have babies with her, fuck those other guys.
In her grief and stupor, it’s too good to be true, which is exactly why she falls for it. But of course, it’s all an illusion, because this wolf is an amalgamation of the worst of all the men who came before him. He tells her everything she wants to hear not to make her dreams come true, but to make his. He takes the worst parts of these scenarios to make his move: he’ll stand by her, he’ll commit, he’ll do it out in the open under the spotlight’s glare (all things desperately lacking in her last relationship), but after he beds her he stabs her in the back in private and leaves her. He got what he wanted at the expense of her losing everything she wanted, this time as her world caved in seemingly for good. She feels like she gave up everything she thought she might have had for a chance that this is where the universe has been point her all along, only to be left broken for good (you represent the loss of my life as I knew it).
Then there are two sort of codas to this. In “But Daddy I Love Him” we get a sassier reimagining of “Love Story,” where the girl with the scarlet letter is mouthy and crass and tells everyone to go fuck themselves for cursing her in the first place, choosing her love above all else. And no, those haters can’t come to her wedding. Her daddy may have come around, but they sure can’t. Finally it seems someone is choosing her and will someday give her these things, and she’ll be able to show all the naysayers. (Also interestingly one of the more fictionally-veiled songs which ends happily vs the diaristic ones that don’t.)
Then of course there’s “So High School,” our first glimpse into what the future holds. Probably the only unabashedly happy (nay… electric?) song on the album, it’s all about reclaiming the buzz of youth (which is a whole other post) with a new lover. “Are you gonna marry, kiss or kill me? It’s just a game but really, I’m betting on all three for us two.” It’s, er, a direct nod to a certain now-infamous interview, but again, she’s staking her claim on her future, if not certain then at least hopeful again. This time the prospect doesn’t come with a “but.” It’s not, we’ll be pushing strollers but actually you’re too young. It’s not, we had these dreams for our future but actually I can’t move forward. It’s not, I’m going to promise you a ring and a baby but only until my needs are met and then I’m out. It’s, I know what I wanted and I’m not leaving, and thanks to that now she stays too.
The album dealt with the theme not at all in the way I expected, but is absolutely fascinating.

Personal Ranking of the Fantasy High Moms, From Worst to Best:
Arianwen Abernant: -19999/10. She's not as bad as Angwyn, since she's convinced herself she's a good mother, but her "I just want the best for you" shtick isn't any better, and the fact that she's ignorant about how horrible she is doesn't make up for years of neglect. And she also attempted to rope her daughters into raising a being of pure nightmares because she lost her status, so.
Donna Applebees: 0/10. Conservative, racist, judgmental, only loves her kids conditionally... you get the gist. Also, she's absolutely a Karen.
Hallariel Seacaster: 3/10. Yes, I know, she's a MILF, she's got such an iconic vibe, she's a badass with a sword, but none of that excuses years of being emotionally absent from your son's life. She's not a bad person, but she unfortunately doesn't know how to be a mom. Sorry, Hallariel. I wish I could rank you higher.
The Last Phoenix: 5/10. Bird. She's a bird. We don't know enough about her except for the fact that she is the last phoenix, she started out as a "haha Arthur Aguefort is a crazy motherfucker" gag, and she gave us the incredible gift that is Ayda. I cannot rank her fairly, but given that she is Ayda's mom, she goes on the list.
Roz Last-Name-Unknown: 6/10. Same deal with Gorbag---we don't know enough about her for me to properly rank her, but we do know that she was a teen mom, and she's made the choice to reconnect with her son and be in his life. Props for that.
Sandralynn Faeth: 7.5/10. I am ranking her realistically, but let it be known that I love her so much. She is such a beautiful example of a flawed person who consistently tries to be better, and even though she does relapse into old behaviors, she's still growing---and outside of the serial cheating (that is a response to trauma, by the way) and occasional lapses in social skills, she's a pretty damn good mom, all things considered.
Cathilda Ceili: 8/10. She's the parent that Fabian needed, even if he didn't always realize it. She's sweet, she's caring, and if anybody hurts her boy, she will fucking rock your shit. (Also, the reveal of Cathilda being an incredibly fearsome and ruthless pirate outside of Solace was one of my favorites.)
Wilma Thistlespring: 9/10. She's a caring and supportive mom who writes songs, is sex-positive, and loves her son! Again, she does need to recognize when she's embarrassing Gorgug, and she needs to recognize that he's gotta learn how to be angry, but still! We all love her!
Lydia Barkrock: 9.6/10. While she doesn't quite get the full score due to the fact that her son was briefly an ass, it clearly was not her fault, and from what we've seen of her, she is a fantastic mom. She's a badass disabled powerhouse who cooks incredible spreads and cares about her son and his friends a lot. I love her a lot. She's amazing.
Sklonda Gukgak: 10/10. She took that spot in her very first scene, where she poured water in her cereal so Riz could have milk in his, and she's been holding it up ever since. Despite the fact that she's constantly swamped with work, Sklonda is literally one of the best moms you could ever ask for. She deserves the world and it's a constant injustice that she's not getting it.
Bonus: Garthy O'Brien, while having transcended gender and therefore not being able to fit into either of the "mom/dad" rankings, is an 11/10 parent---not just to Ayda, but to everyone younger than them who they've essentially adopted. Words cannot express my adoration for this person.

Give me Steve, Eddie, and Robin at a bar on a Friday night.
They've had a few drinks, and a shot or two when a song comes on, and Steve immediately jumps to his feet with an, "Oh shit!!"
It's Madonna's Get Into the Groove and for a moment Robin and Eddie think Steve is in pain, that he hates the song as is going to ask the DJ to change it.
Except Steve waltzes onto the dance floor, right into the center.
There aren't too many others dancing, it's early still, barely nine in the evening but the spot lights are on and the DJ flicks on the multicolor strobe as Steve parks himself on the dance floor.
Robin laughs and wishes she had brought the disposable camera instead of leaving it in her junk drawer at home.
Eddie meanwhile rolls his eyes, and pretends not to notice the tightness of Steve's jeans or how the light catches the flecks of gold in his hair and eyes.
He's been attempting to hide his pathetic little crush for awhile now, complaining to Robin every chance he gets when Steve does something particularly charming or handsome.
She tells him, as sagely as she can muster, to grow a pair and do something about it already.
But how can he, Steve was, well, Steve...lovely caring, hot as hell, Steve.
What chance did Eddie have?
So he sits there, miserable, nursing his beer, letting his eyes trail after Steve while Robin giggles beside him.
They've never seen him dance, it's bar, they're drunk, the worst that could happen is he makes an ass out of himself and they all go home with a great new story to tell the party later.
God Robin really wishes she brought her camera with her.
But then Steve is moving and he's fluid, never missing a beat. It's some kind of choreography, intentional and practiced movements that wouldn't be out of place in a music video. Eddie and Robin look at each other because, what the fuck, where did this come from??
And people are cheering and whooping, strangers scattered here and there sitting off of the dance floor. There's a sense of comradery, like they're all witness to something and being allowed to share and indulge in this little impromptu performance, but all too soon the song is over and Steve heads back to his seat with a small round of applause and a blinding smile pulling at his flushed cheeks.
"Steve, what the fuck was that??" Robin blurts out before Steve can even sit. Eddie nods, a little dazed, beside her and tears at the paper label on his beer bottle, maybe if he can keep his hands occupied he can keep them to himself.
"What was what?" Steve breathes out as he hops onto the stool beside them, Robin in the middle.
Robin's mouth falls open as her face scrunches into something exasperated but fond, "What was--that! The dancing!"
"Oh, that," Steve huffs with a lazy smile, he leans his elbow on the sticky wood bar and waves at the bartender to signal for another gin and tonic, "I used to help Carol with her choreography for cheer".
Eddie pinches his thigh below the bartop and chews the inside of his cheek as the image of Steve in the Hawkins High cheer uniform begins to solidify in his minds eye, fuck.
Robin elbows Eddie without looking, somehow reading his mind, and throws her hands out, beckoning Steve to continue because that isn't nearly enough information.
"Yeah, she'd come up with routines and you know, they are meant to be done with more than one person, and I mean she and I were friends before Tommy so," he shrugs and smiles at the bartender as they pass him the drink, "I dunno, it was fun, and I remember that one the most".
"Plus," he says with a smirk, "Carol always said the best thing about dance is that you can tell who appreciates the performance and who appreciates the person doing it," he winks as Robin scoffs and calls him gross, but Steve isn't looking at Robin.
Eddie swallows as molten heat creeps up his neck and over his ears, the urge to hide his face, run for the door, melt into the floor, is immense.
But Steve doesn't move his gaze, he smiles softly at Eddie and winks again over Robin's head which she promptly drops into her hands.
"I'm surrounded by horny idiots," she grumbles but the words are muffled in the din of the bar and her own hands as Steve tips his head back to the dance floor and holds out his hand for Eddie to take.

SOAP 🧼 x Reader HCS PT. 2
Yes I have more. Can't stop won't stop. I need help
Your lockscreen is a thirst trap of him. It usually deters all attempts to sneak into your phone and it cheers you up on bad days. But mostly it was done in retaliation to his own lockscreen.
His is you barely awake, dishevelled, messy hair, dark rings under your eyes, puffy face, death glare, murderous expression. Looking like shit essentially. You both hate it and love it, cause on one hand you hate seeing yourself at your ugliest, but on the other, his insistence that he finds you ô so endearing like this is a heartwarming confession.
Your retaliation failed pathetically, since he does not have any shame about showing off his body, but you still kept it.
You once thought you could embarrass him by carrying him bridal style on the base, but this man is... unashamable. He took it all in stride, the back of his hand on his forehead, pretending to dramatically faint in your arms.
He sings in the shower. Is he good or bad at it... you decide.
Do NOT let him know that you like it when his voice gets raspy... ("Get on your FUCKING KNEES".mp3, "Ka-freakin-boom, baby".mp3) because he will NEVER let it down.
You gave him tremendous power and he will use it for no good. Changing his pitch on command in the worst situations (worst for you) to whisper sweet and filthy nothings in your ear or through the comms. (WATTYA MEAN ENGLISH DOESNT HAVE AN EQUIVALENT FOR "SUSURER"?? Yall missing out 😔)
"Ooh ya like mah voice, Bonnie? S'that right? Ah guess ah could indulge ya...for a price"
Purposely riles you up in public so you'll take it out on him afterwards. "Fuck you MacTavish!" He bites his lower lip, gives you doe eyes; he's so, so close to whimpering - "Wish you would."
Always has his fingers crossed that, when you get tired of his smart mouth, you'll tell him you can think of a better use for it than idle chatter. Wether you mean making out or talking between your legs, he's thrilled either way.
Human radiator. Loves winter because you will spontaneously seek his heat. Spends the summer pouting because you rebuff him.
How he comforts you: throws himself at your feet (if you're sitting), grabs your face or your hands, immediately asks what happened. Will listen religiously if you wanna talk about it. Always down to talk shit about the person who annoyed you. The kinda guy that can make you laugh through your tears, he doesn't care if he has to make a fool of himself for it to happen.
If you don't, he'll give you all the hugs you can ask for - these biceps were made for caging you against those pecs. Or if you're looking to take your mind off it, he'll come up on the spot with activities to do together.
Loves famous pop songs, like Britney Spears'. Not only will he sing along and dance, but he will manage to get YOU to sing along and dance with him. He doesn't take himself seriously at all. It's all about having a good time and letting loose. You end up laughing so much your stomach hurts.
"C'm'on bonnie, dance wi' me." "I don't know how to dance, Johnny. Forget about it." "Ah dinnae either! Let's look like idiots together." "I'm too self-conscious for that." "It's just me, hen. Ah won't judge ya." He laces his fingers with yours and lays kisses upon your knuckles, all the while staring at you with a mix of softness and encouragement.

General creepypasta headcannons!
Ft: Jeff the killer, Ben Drowned, Ticci Toby, Dr Smiley, Puppeteer, Bloody Painter, Masky, Hoodie, laughing Jack, Jason the toymaker, Homicidal Liu and Eyeless Jack
Warning: these are not romantic! These are general personality trait headcannons. Also, a lot of the pastas are good friends with Ben. Mentions of weed and alcohol.
Also I’m using my AU where the creepypastas only kill r8pists and Peds (I’ll just call it the vigilant AU.)
I’m also working on a micheal afton smut rn, so y’all will get that soon.
Jeff the killer
-The worst person to drink with, he’s absolutely ruthless when drunk. (Angry, annoying or horny, you don’t roll the dice. He does)
-has a vintage tea set that was Liu’s (he stole it when he turned)
-he’s the most brutal and crude creepypasta, but whenever he’s mad he’s really fuckin mad.
-Ohioan tbh
-IAED (intermittent Anger Explosive Disorder)
-I feel like when he’s not having an episode he’s pretty likable (he’s probably accidentally one of the funniest creeps)
-this fucker definitely talks to himself, I feel like he might also have OCD.
-pop not soda
-his mouth slits are not that prominent (like food doesn’t fall out of his mouth) and he has his eyelids
-his skin isn’t smooth??? Mf was literally burned, he’s covered with a lot of old slightly healed burn scars.
-his hair care is better because of Ben.
-getting Jeff and Masky pissed off at the same time they will angrily tag team you (not sexually… maybe sometimes.)
-Jeff is very romantically detached and romantically stupid. Like he doesn’t really get attraction that much and when he does he doesn’t know what to do about it.
Ben Drowned
-vapes just a little (blue raz)
-weirdly responsible over the rest of the creeps (hygiene wise, he’s very meticulous) he’s the weed dealer of the house, his room in the attic is the major “fuck-it-up-and-party” Room
-not that angry of a person, very lax and chill.
-the funnest creeps to smoke the greens with. He’s fr just so chill (he’s also very funny too, trust me he’s fun AF)
-Ben is the funniest pasta, but only because of his pathetic-ness. Like he makes a lot of cheesy jokes and rhymes, it makes the other pastas laugh because most the time he doesn’t intend it to be funny.
-chronic mimicker, like it’s bad. If anyone else talks or says a word slightly different suddenly it’s the only word he’ll say for a month straight.
-his eyes are constantly bleeding and it pisses him off
-human eyes are brown and his skin is slightly tan.
-he’s very horny all the time but with no release. He doesn’t crush on the pasta girls, nor does he watch porn. This mf writes his own personal fanfiction in a diary (that the creeps stole one night while drunk and read)
-he’s honestly one of the cleanest creepypastas. (And probably the most popular for them all, at least. He’s friends with everyone.)
-ADD nightmare and screamo music daydream.
-I feel like if he sang he’d sound like that one song ‘King for a Day’
Toby
-he’s a little dickhead, but relatively lovable. It’s just cause he’s cheeky and devilish.
-doesn’t smoke weed or drink.
-he’s very jealous of Liu and Jeff since because of his sisters death. He wishes that like Liu, his sister would arrive one day somewhat alive. (It never happens)
-ADHD and bipolar nightmare, has a slender therapist lmao.
-Toby doesn’t like Jeff that much for trying to kill Liu. Liu and Toby are friends because Liu reminds him of Lyra (his sister)
-Toby is also somewhat close with the women of the mansion rather then the men. He’s good friends with both Judge Angels and Jane. Clockwork and him aren’t close anymore as she went off on her own.
-he’s a really deep thinker, and surprisingly sentimental. Though not for his victims. Toby is harsh whenever he feels like it.
-he’s a relatively quiet person. He’s good friends with Ben and EJ. Toby also has a slow reaction to danger, he’s the least likely in the group to get scared by something.
-Toby had to get a slender therapist because of his last manic episode (he made up “creepypasta” while accidentally high one night on Ben’s computer in 2010 and the pastas haven’t trusted him with tech since.)
-he wanted to become a writer growing up.
Dr Smiley
-originally, I feel like Dr Smiley wanted to do good for people. I feel like he wanted to be a politician until he forcefully remembered how people are. He’s also really bad at medical stuff, go to EJ for that, not smiley.
-awful trust issues, he doesn’t trust a soul. Ironically, Smiley is one of the most social pastas. Reverse psychology babe.
-smiley is good at a lot of things, this man’s a fuckin prodigy.
-one of the first creepypastas to join the gang. Also one of the most polite.
-he’s really classy and only ever accidentally taken an edible (never again). Smiley trips out hard whenever high, it’s almost concerning.
-definitely has a small garden for herbs. He’s either seen killing, out in the garden, or in his medical room.
-a lot of the pastas are convinced smiley doesn’t sleep (no one has ever seen it, though Ben did capture one singular photo as proof and that is it)
-dr smiley is always left in charge whenever Slender has meetings (he only has to approve missions sent by the pastas.)
-as much as smiley is a prodigy, he’s awful in the kitchen. It’s kind of sad.
Puppeteer
-smooth, might as well call this fucker MJ.
-he always wins in arguments bc he’s so sly. Sort of a kleptomaniac and will gaslight you.
-called pup by most (not like a dog)
-always has his business in other peoples faces, but unlike Ben, he doesn’t get away with it.
-Puppet laughs a lot but doesn’t really talk. he’s also pretty good friends with Jane and Helen.
-one of the least organized pastas. His room is really messy and so is he. He cleans up after himself, but don’t go into his room.
-Major Depressive Disorder
-him and hoodie always get A+ on their duo assignments. Though the two of them aren’t that close, they’re hella good at working together.
-puppeteer isn’t classy at all. He drinks as soon as he wakes up, but in a Fiona Gallagher way.
-definitely watches Shameless. His top show rn. Binged the entirety in 3 days. Didn’t sleep whatsoever. (His fave character is V bc she’s hot)
Bloody Painter
-LOVES Hozier. Like actively buys tickets for his shows. Either hozier or The Hush Sound.
-the most visual mf you’ll ever meet. If he’s real comfortable he’d ramble for super fucking long (and gets annoyed when someone gets bored or questions him.)
-work first, people last. Helen really just focused on the next step in front rather than the whole timeline.
-beat the shit out of Toby for the accident of 2010. Though the two made up.
-mentally I think he’s…. Alright??? He’s one of those disturbingly quiet people, very hard to read. Though, turns out he’s just mute. Also has OCD
-he has a problem trusting himself and his thoughts (as most ppl with OCD do)
-very unhealed, Helen is very raw. Like his wounds are barely closed. Sometimes Helen is able to relax though and that’s only when he’s alone or possibly with Puppeteer.
-Helen makes sure he has no bad blood between any pasta. He’s worried hoodie doesn’t like him, though.
Masky
-staring problem, huge staring problem. resting bitch face too. Truthfully he’s never really annoyed much.
-insomniac with a touch of depression. He’s always super tired. Chronic eyebag haver.
-probably has thin silver glasses.
-loves sugary coffee and tea. Drinks basic white girl drinks 100%
-really good friends with Eyeless Jack and often helps him get more medical supplies.
-dare I say slight accent??? Not rlly an accent, but sounds like he’s from Tennessee. His moms def from New Jersey tho.
-Jewish heritage. He also watches a LOT of Rick and Morty with Ben.
-buys his weed from Ben to relax. He was forced to stop smoking by Hoodie and Sally. Weed is the next best thing.
-he’s really good at voice impressions but almost never does them unless he’s with Sally or Lazari.
-Masky is very depressed and unmotivated, so Puppeteer is usually around him a lot. Not that either of them care much.
Hoodie
-he’s literally mute. Also believe that he’s short too. Like 5’7.
-watches attack on Titan, his favorite character is Miche and Armin. Besides that, he doesn’t watch much anime.
-his room is covered in posters.
-Slendermans favorite, second to Dr Smiley.
-he loves 80’s music. The puppeteer does too, they listen together sometimes on missions.
-in love with Diet Pepsi and cool ranch Doritos.
-knows how to knit (don’t ask.) (he got high with Ben one time)
-come to think of it, everyone has went borderline insane smoking with Ben before. Hoodie has a picture book filled with their embarrassing high moments.
-hoodies room has a lot of spare notebooks and picture books. Don’t know why. All of them are individually organized. If you looked through them you’d go insane tho.
-worst handwriting in the entire mansion.
Laughing Jack
-he has a grudge against all cheeses. Like he fucking HATES cheese. Especially blue cheese.
-worst diet of the pastas. He eats like a 6 year old mixed with the Elf. Everything to him has to be sweet, if not then it has to be crunchy. Like chicken tenders, he can eat those, but that’s about it.
-secret genius because everyone thinks he’s stupid (when he’s really the instigator) the only person who’s caught onto this is Ben, but no one believes Ben.
-constantly humming.
-he hates TV and phones but likes music. Though if you put on bubble guppies or some shit, his brain would probably shut down.
-he’s constantly eating the floor, this mf is so clumsy.
-Jack riots a lot and starts plenty of petitions. Like when slender tried implementing a dinner time schedule, he petitioned for it to be gone because he didn’t want pasta. That one chipped at Slender’s nonexistent heart.
-he’s rebellious in nature and very horny. He’s constantly doing the most, very over the top whenever he likes someone.
-he hates Japanese horror films
Jason the toymaker
-he doesn’t turn his assignments into doll’s because they don’t deserve a second chance at life. Jason is one of the only pastas that kill normal people. The normal people are tortured and turned into dolls, his assignments are tortured and left to rot.
-Jason has an eye for fashion and has sewn a bunch of dresses for Sally. He also has a very high pitched giggle.
-tbh Jason listens to Kesha 100% it just scratches the spot
-he’s almost a horder. More than once did Slender have to expand Jason’s toy shop.
-hates all animals, there is not a single animal that he likes. (Though somehow, smiledog really likes him.) (Jason hates him but doesn’t harm him)
-he’s honestly such a priss, like fr. He’s always gossiping os judging. It’s funny though.
-he doesn’t really like much of the pastas. He likes Ben and sometimes LJ is cool, but aside from that he just doesn’t care about the rest much.
-he absolutely fucks up thin mints and raisin cookies. His fave food is probably a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese tho tbh
Homicidal Liu
-Liu doesn’t really remember Jeff, but Sully does.
- Liu’s other systems are named Ajax and Diane, both of which are female.
-he really likes keeping up on YouTube drama and actively prays on downfalls.
-Liu’s best friend is definitely Toby or Zero. Aside from that he’s really closed off, he admires Slender too.
-Dissociative Identity Disorder.
-he definitely almost got on Zalgo’s side, but something (he doesn’t know what) pulled him to Slender more.
-least picky out of the creeps. He can stomach basically everything.
-he was one of those kids that had chronic ear infections, Liu constantly would have cotton balls in his ears Bc of this 😭
-Liu gets sick really easily, his immune system is NOT happy. Prob because he really likes spicy food but still.
-definitely 100% the best cook out of the pastas (with Ben being the best baker)
-Slendermans third favorite after Dr Smiley and hoodie.
-he’s honestly so homesick, but he doesn’t remember what for. Feels a strange connection to Jeff, but also almost hates him? He’s conflicted.
-serious victim of medical malpractice and medical abuse, he absolutely hates hospitals and anything to do with them.
Eyeless Jack
-used to write music in college before he turned. Also actually really sad about how his life ended.
-he’s good friends with Ben and Masky and surprisingly talkative. I felt like he almost whispers though.
-I also like to think that Jack is very musically inclined and the reason he went to medical school was so he could make bank in the future. His parents definitely didn’t want Jack to be a musician.
-so he can definitely play electric guitar and some piano (he tries and learns everyday)
-really bad at sports and awful sense of direction. He’s always lost. Ben usually has to fetch him once he goes out for missions.
-though I don’t think Jack being lost is all his fault, the path to the mansion changes every three hours and Jack leaves often for kidneys.
-he sees sally as a little sister and does a lot to make her happy.

That Ghost x Soap with their daughter art has me seriously fucked up (thanks @ethereal-night-fairy)
I can't stop thinking about Soap and Ghost trying to raise Bee on their own in the disco baby au after this ask from @mockerycrow.
Those first few nights when they're completely blindsided. Simon in a full blown shut down because he cannot process anything that's happening, emotions running him over at full speed because he's terrified of being a Dad, he's terrified of ruining a child, he's terrified of becoming his own Dad, he's terrified of not being good enough. He's afraid that Bee will grow up with a target on her back, that she will end up in danger or worse because of their profession. And he can't stop thinking about you. He can't stop thinking about how all they were trying to do was protect you when they left, how all they wanted was for you to be okay, to not have to wait, to not have to be emotionally tortured for how ever long they were going to be gone. How they didn't want you to have to bury them. He can't stop thinking about how he failed you. How he promised you he'd always take care of you, that they'd always be here, and when you needed it the most, they made decision to leave you. He cannot forgive himself. The thought that they did it to better your life has long gone out the window. He hires a PI to try to find you, with zero luck.
Johnny is the opposite of a shut down. He's in a free fall. He's feeling everything, all at once. He runs out onto the street after they read the note, sprinting down the block, searching every face for you. He holds Bee for the first time when he comes back, taking her out of the carrier because she's sitting in it, on the kitchen table while Simon stands three feet away, staring at her with his arms crossed. She's fussing, and Simon is frozen, and Johnny doesn't know what do so he just, holds her. He rocks her. He sings to her. It all comes somewhat naturally to him. He fluctuates between heartbreak and anger. He tortures himself by staring at Bee sleeping in her crib at night just so he can see something that somewhat resembles your face. He cries himself to sleep. He dreams about you. Simon overhears him telling Bee stories about you at bedtime, or bath time or meal times. Johnny tells Bee about how beautiful you are, how sweet and kind you are. He tells Bee how much they loved you, how they wished they had been there, how they made a really big mistake. Johnny scoops baby food into Bee's mouth, all while explaining to her that you worked at an art museum, and loved to paint. He describes your paintings to her at bath time, and puts Bee to sleep trying to hum lullabies of your favorite songs.
Time passes. They find Bee's medical records, they get her chart from the day she was born. She was three months old, when you left her at their doorstep. They read the physician's notes, about how Mum was alone, how Mum was given a long list of support resources for PPD. Johnny is distraught. Simon fears the worst.
Simon retires early, so he can be at home full time. There's a ceremony, small. Gaz and Price are there, along with Johnny and Bee, who watches her Dad accept some honor medal that he doesn't care about from a man in a fancy uniform. Simon lets her chew on it the whole way home, which Johnny hems and haws about, but Simon doesn't care. He doesn't need some shiny piece of metal. He has almost everything he wants or needs in life. Almost.
Simon learns how to be a Dad, and he becomes a pretty good one at that. He's the first one to make Bee giggle, one night after a nappy change and getting her into bedtime clothes, when he's letting her lay on the floor for her usual tummy time, and he groans when he gets down on his knees. She thinks it's hilarious, and he spends the next half an hour doing it over and over again, exaggerating the sound of his old knees just to see her face light up.
Johnny is a natural. He just already knows how to do it all. He's not nervous when he holds Bee, he's easy with it. Cradles her every which way, gets her to fall asleep anywhere. He can tell the difference between her hungry cry, her full nappy cry, her "I'm having feelings but I have no words" cry.
Bee gets croup right after she turns six months. Simon has a panic attack over it, and they both lay on the bathroom floor with her while it fills with steam, counting each breath her little lungs take.
Bee turns one. They have a birthday party. It's another small affair, but Price and Gaz come, along with a few others that live relatively close. She spends half the day curled up on Uncle Gaz because she cries ridiculously every time Johnny or Simon try to pull her away. Gaz gloats about it to Price non stop. They sing happy birthday, the guys "help" blow her candles out, and everyone watches Bee smash a vanilla cake overzealously and try to stuff as much of it into her mouth as possible. Price films the entire thing for Laswell.
Simon's phone rings, right after the cake. It's set to vibrate, and it startles him from his back pocket. When he glances at it, it's a number he doesn't recognize, which is even more strange. He moves away to accept the call, and Johnny gives him an odd look, but Simon waves him off. No sense in worrying him.
When he presses it to his ear and says hello, there's a sharp intake of breath... and then your voice. Saying his name.
"Simon?"

Let you break my heart again 🕷️
you are in love with your best friend
w/c: 999
pairing: miguel o’hara x reader
tags: kinda angst? you’re so in love, he doesn’t feel the same, heartbreak, shitting n crying, slightly delusional
notes: the grip this song has had on me the past two weeks- this idea came to me last week I just HAD TO-
part two
You had been feeling down the entire day since you saw Miguel post the new girl he had been talking to and calling her his girlfriend with today’s date on the caption.
Him calling you a couple hours after asking if you wanted to go to a party with him only added salt to the wound.
You have been hopelessly and desperately in love with him since your freshmen year of high school.
8 years.
8 years of silence.
8 years of torture.
No one even looked his way in high school because he, alongside you, were known as the science nerds of the school. You obviously didn’t care, if anything it made falling for him that much predictable.
At least for anyone with eyes and good at deciphering body language.
Which Miguel wasn’t.
Somehow he never realized and you never had the balls to confess your love to him.
After graduating high school he had quite possibly the biggest glow up (unbeknownst to you he had turned into spider-man) and first semester of uni changed everything for him.
He had girls eating out of the palm of his hand and practically falling to their knees for him as if they hadn’t been using him to do their homework just a few months back.
Miguel didn’t seem to care or see through all the girl’s intentions.
Meanwhile you had liked him when he would wear nerdy little crewnecks and those thick glasses that had now been long abandoned.
You liked him when he was getting brutally bullied and were the only one to ever stick up for him, but it never going well for either of you.
You liked him when he was going through a hard time with his mom and relied on you heavily for nearly everything.
You liked him when the revelation of who his father was, tore him up to literal pieces.
He was always in your head. Whether it be daydream, hearing someone talk about him, or actually dreaming about him at night.
Only in your mind can you pretend that you’re his girlfriend. That he likes you.
That you’re his first and only choice.
That you’re the only one he wants.
That he’s just as in love with you as you are with him.
He had taken over all your thoughts possible and it never got any easier.
You thought you’d get over it after sophomore year but it only grew as he ended up being your only friend throughout high school.
Nothing was more heartbreaking than having to hear him talk about all the girls he would go out with, or fuck.
The worst was when you’d actually go to parties with him. You’d end up almost throwing up or crying in the bathroom after seeing yet another new girl grinding herself against him or a girl making out with him.
It never ended up being less heartbreaking. You had luckily made a few friends who tried their best to help.
Peter B and MJ.
Somehow you befriended them your first year of uni and all four of you became a little group. They were your occasional saviors when you’d find yourself sulking over Miguel being with another girl.
They’d always try to distract you and cheer you up.
Or if they were the ones to spot Miguel fooling around they’d turn you to the opposite direction to avoid your heart from crumbling again.
You felt as if you were being entrapped.
It was almost as if Miguel subconsciously knew what he was doing.
Because when he grew bored of a girl all of a sudden his attention would be fully on you.
Buying you food, getting you cute little plants, helping you study.
It was an endless cycle of pain and heartbreak then yearning and being enamored by him.
Right now was pure heartbreak and misery.
You had been crying for hours on end now and just let your sad playlist loop.
All you were wishing for now is that one day you’d stop falling in love with him.
That somehow your feelings for him would wash away and you’ll never have to deal with this heartbreak ever again.
But it’s been long now. These feelings weren’t going to disappear.
And he wasn’t going to magically fall in love with you.
Especially because he’s always been the one to let anyone and everyone know that you were only his best friend. And nothing more.
But the way he’d wrap his arms around you, leave kisses on your forehead and cheeks just boggled your head.
The way he would just stare at you when you were rambling about the newest science news you’d heard about.
The way he would hug you tightly at the most random times imaginable.
The way he’d willingly put his jacket on you if it were too chilly outside.
The way he would get so overprotective when a guy asks you out.
So you were always questioning what he really thought of you.
He never made it easy to decipher any of his feelings unless he was telling you up front, which he almost never did.
As more hot tears fell down your face, you could only pray that someone will like you like you like him.
It felt like such an impossible ask.
You loved him so much and you could practically feel pieces of your heart breaking. Why couldn’t he just reciprocate your love?
Why did you have to torture yourself like this?
Why is the only time you’re truly happy (besides when you’re with him) is when you’re dreaming about actually being with him?
Why is it so hard for him to romantically love you?
Why does it always have to be platonic?
Maybe one day you’ll be able to get over him and these feelings won’t be as strong.
Maybe one day you’ll find someone that’ll know how to take care of your heart and return your love.
Maybe one day it’ll be him.

My Heart Is The Worst Kind Of Weapon
Tumblr media
Ellie Williams x Fem!Reader
The joke's on you - we are salt and you are the wound.
Summary:
Ellie confronts your abuser, and after years of torment, you finally feel free.
Ellie Williams x Fem!Reader. Strangers to Lovers. Hurt and Comfort. Can be read with or without considering the canon events.
Word Count: 9,600
The Last of Us Masterlist | AO3 Link
THIS IS A RE-POST. This is a fic from my old blog (a blog that was shadowbanned, forcing me to move). This fic is not stolen, it is completely mine, and I am just re-posting it to help people find my new blog, and to make my masterlist complete when I post new fics for this fandom.
Detailed warnings and author’s notes below the cut.
Warnings: reader uses she/her pronounces, the reader is a lesbian/does not date men, themes of abuse and abusive relationships, domestic abuse, ‘love at first sight’ trope, could be considered ‘soulmates’ trope, hurt and comfort, the reader is being abused by a family member and is saved by Ellie, the reader is being emotionally and physically abused by a family member, evidence of emotional manipulation/brainwashing in the reader character, the reader character has injuries from physical abuse, trauma, becoming free from abuse, depictions of violence (fist fighting between Ellie and the abuser), mentions of guns and gun violence, there is elements of Joel and Ellie’s relationship in the background and this could be read with or without considering the canon events (their emotional falling out), mentions of alcohol, drugging someone against their will (done toward the abuser), threatening someone’s genitals with a knife (done toward the abuser), kidnapping and intimidation through violent threats (done toward the abuser), mentions of hanging/choking/suffocation, use of lesphobic slurs (I think ‘rug muncher’ is the only one?) (from the abuser towards Ellie), Joel and Ellie making a kidnapping (and potentially murder) plot together, this has a happy/hopeful ending.
A/N: Another re-post of a fic I really, really love. This one is particularly deeply personal to me. Whenever I write about the concept of abuse, it’s very emotional for me, but this one has some more personal touches - because it is about abuse coming from a family member and how it can be difficult to part from that because you rely on them for survival and resources that keep you alive. Often times when people think about abuse - or when abusive relationships are modelled in media, it is a romantic relationship, and they display how a person can go from sweet and romantic and turn into a monster, and how it manipulates the victims emotions and makes it difficult for them to leave. And I do think that is an important story to tell, but one equally important - the story of an abuser who is a constant in your life, and makes you dependent on them for survival, and it causes you to rationalise all of their poor actions and behaviour because you need them. You want them to be a good person in your mind because you don’t know how to sustain your life without them.
Another deeply personal touch on this fic - the title. It is titled after a Fall Out Boy song, and you guys might know - I fucking love Fall Out Boy. I feel like all of their songs have a direct cord to my soul. But this one in particular is so special and tender for me. I was struggling with what to title this fic, and I was going through a playlist of songs that I listen to frequently - and this one came up. Although I believe the original intent of this song is about a cheating spouse, for me, it brings up feelings of how I think of my abuser. Especially the lines ‘I’m the kind of kid that can’t let anything go, and you wouldn’t know a good thing if it came up and split your throat’ and 'this is me wishing you in to the worst situations’.
I feel like it is very accurate, because Ellie is someone who is very 'wearing her heart on her sleeve’ and through this fic, she wants to be emotionally detached and leave the situation alone, but she can’t. And it turns her heart into this weapon against her, and ultimately, against the abuser. Because it is only of the fact that she cares so much about y/n that she wants to hurt the guy at all. And it also works to describe y/n’s feelings, because she hates that she has emotional attachment to her abuser, but she does, and it makes her feel as though her heart is a weapon against herself. So yeah. I hope you enjoy this fic, and if you relate to it somehow, I hope you can heal.
...
Ellie didn’t believe in love at first sight.
She was the type of person who thought it was cheesy - some made-up bullshit built for movies and books to sell people on the type of story that would never actually happen. She founded herself on facts, and though she knew realistically it would never happen in her lifetime, she thought that space travel was far more factual than something like love at first sight.
Until she met you.
And yeah, it probably wasn’t love - at least not true love - until later on. But there had to be some reason that she stuck her neck out for you like that. There had to be something drawing her to you like that. Maybe it was that fabled invisible string. That unspoken thing that made her want to die and want to kill for you, especially within the first ten minutes of meeting you.
You were with a group taking refuge in Jackson. In such a small town, rumors were rampant. The group had been in town for less than a day and people were already whispering about whether or not Maria was going to take in such a large number of people on such short notice.
Personally, Ellie didn’t care. She knew that Jackson had the resources to support new people and she knew that Maria would make the right decision. She was a good leader; she would sense if the group were good enough people to stay or not. She wouldn’t knowingly let in any dangers.
But then, Ellie started to care very suddenly, very much - when she met you.
When she saw you, the very first thing she noticed was your smile. She didn’t think she had ever seen someone smile with such intense, genuine joy. It was something that instantly twisted her gut into knots - filled her with those cartoonish butterflies as she took in the sight of you.
You were standing along the edge of one of the fences, near a small, green pasture for the animals in town. It was a small wooden fence that came up to your hips, around an area that was sectioned off to keep the baby cows in so they could graze. You were leaning on the wooden panels, admiring those little cows with awe, a smile on your face a mile wide as you watched the animals stumble around happily in the field. It was a beautiful spring day, with a light breeze kissing against your skin, and plenty of bright green grass for the cows to snack on. It made the sun seem so much brighter with your smile under it.
Ellie couldn’t help but find herself drawn to you.
She was supposed to be on her way to return her rifle to the gun shed after patrol. But instead, her feet carried her to you, almost entirely against her will. And soon she found herself standing barely a foot away from you, leaning on that same fence with one hand and staring at you with a big idiotic smile of her own.
You gave a small jolt when you finally took your eyes off the cows and noticed her staring. Ellie panged with guilt. She hadn’t realized how unintentionally creepy she was being. She didn’t know that it was a programmed response on your part - an ingrained jumpiness that you couldn’t help.
She swallowed around the dryness in her throat, struggling for words, and she was thankful when you spoke first.
“You guys have everything here.” You said, bright and excited as you put your eyes back on the grazing pasture. “Its the first time I’ve seen baby cows before.”
“We - uh - we also have sheep.” Ellie tripped over herself to say this, shouldering the strap of her rifle to point beyond to a spot where the sheep’s pasture could not be seen. “And there’s greenhouses, and horses. My horse is named Shimmer. You can come and meet her if you want!”
Ellie almost felt stupid, rushing to say all of this, rushing to impress you. If you liked Jackon’s plentiful resources, then perhaps if she pressed just how fantastic and resource filled the place was, you would want to stay.
She found herself wanting you to stay. Very badly.
You bit your lip, slightly shy, and let out a nervous giggle. You didn’t want to turn her down. But years of warnings in a closed off echo chamber had made you weary of strangers. Even seemingly kind ones.
“That would be nice.” You told her quietly. “Maybe later.”
Ellie thought she was coming on too strong. She kicked herself internally because of it.
She had no idea that you were hesitant to be friendly - hesitant to get too close because of the ‘consequences’ you had seen in the past. In your eyes, Ellie seemed like a lovely, friendly person, but you didn’t want to get hurt for trying to make friends. Even if you felt a spark of attraction towards her, you could never pursue it. You didn’t have the room to do so.
Ellie simply nodded at you, the pain of rejection curling in her gut as she began to walk off. But she stopped dead in her tracks when she heard it.
Yelling - a brute voice disrupting your peace.
When Ellie turned around, there was a man. Someone who would have been otherwise average in his looks, if not for the violence he wore so boldly, obviously uncaring of who saw him. His face was tight with anger as he crowded into your personal space, grabbing a hold of your wrist and screaming at you relentlessly as though you had greatly offended him.
She wondered how someone like you - someone so sweet, who took wonder in baby cows, could ever do something to warrant such a visceral reaction of anger from someone.
Ellie gripped her rifle tightly.
A voice in her mind told her that it was none of her business, but another quickly argued back and said that you didn’t deserve to be treated like this. It said that she should step in. She felt frozen as the two sides warred inside her. For a few moments, she simply watched on, taking in the one-sided conflict between you and this man with horror swimming inside of her.
Your reaction was the worst part.
Your face immediately shifted from that excitement, awe, and wonder that the baby cows gave you and contorted into pure pain. Tears welled up in your eyes and pure fear overtook your entire body. Your spine coiled up, as if to protect your internal organs, but you made no real moves to get away from this man.
He spouted at you about ‘wandering off’ and ‘what have I told you before’, ranting on and on as if you had made some horrible mistake by taking time out of your day to admire a grazing pasture full of animals. Ellie was just about to unlock her knees and charge over there to do something about it when a vial, angry eye caught hers over your shoulder.
“The fuck you lookin’ at?” He barked at Ellie.
Those simple words were all it took to trigger something in Ellie.
At a moment’s notice, all of her logic flew out the window, and she found herself consumed by the impulse of her rage instead. She shed off the strap of her rifle, leaving the heavy object on the ground behind her in case it might impede her as she barreled toward the man like a raging bull.
“Why don’t you tell me, asshole?!” Ellie fired back, entirely nonsensical.
But both of them, ill-tempered, were beyond talking at that point.
He stepped around you and went to open his mouth again and Ellie took a swing. She easily made contact with his jaw, but he absorbed it well. Her knuckles stung as she pulled back and landed another hit on his cheek, most definitely leaving a nasty bruise.
Ellie was caught off guard when a large fist collided with her face.
She would never be the type to say that men shouldn’t hit women simply on principle. Especially not in this case, because she had swung first.
She was shocked simply because of the sheer force behind the hit. It wasn’t just to get her off of him - it was vengeful.
Though her skull was rattled, when he moved his hand up again, Ellie caught his wrist and hit him again. Still feeling that blinding rage, she took him to the ground. His nose felt like mush under her knuckles and she wouldn’t have stopped - if not for someone forcefully pulling her off of him.
She wanted to yell when she found out that someone was Tommy. But he quickly dampened any of her protests.
Tommy then gave her a long lecture about ‘first impressions’ and handling her temper during ‘misunderstandings’. He told her that being a part of their family meant that even unintentionally, she represented Jackson as a whole. Regrettably, Ellie felt guilt curling in her stomach because of his words. Even if the guy had it coming, she hated Joel or Tommy looking down on her with disappointment.
And some time during that long, droning speech, you and that man slipped away. Ellie had a very bad feeling in her gut because of it.
She had a feeling that he was nothing but a cause of pain for you.
But of course, she had no outright proof of that. Aside from your tears. But you weren’t even there to tell Tommy your story. And what story was that? That you had been yelled at? How the hell did that substantiate Ellie beating a man up?
She had nothing more to go on than a gut feeling.
So rather than telling Tommy about any of the things she suspected, she accepted everything she had said, she apologized for losing her cool, and then (after he gave her a hug, patted her on the head and said ‘it’s okay, kiddo’) - she turned and walked away.
When she returned her rifle to the gunshed, Jesse asked if something had happened on patrol to cause the bruises on her face and make her expression so sickly, and she quickly shrugged him off.
Ellie felt intensely guilty for not doing something more. She felt bad for not simply asking you what was wrong, for not handling the situation like a real human being. She had no clue why she couldn’t simply be calm when she saw you so upset like that.
She didn’t even really know you. She just had a feeling that you were too good to be treated like that. Something deep in her gut was screaming that you did nothing to deserve it.
The group you came in with split up. Some of them made their way down to the coast with the intention of fishing, perhaps finding and fixing up an old boat, and some of them stayed.
Ellie took notice when you and the man who had yelled at you stayed.
She also took notice of the fact that whenever she saw you around town, that man was never very far from you. And whenever he lingered around you, you were much different from the girl she had met that day near the pasture. You were slumped down, never rising to your full posture, constantly tense, and incredibly quiet. You never spoke a single word to anyone other than that awful man. You never even made eye contact with other people.
Ellie spent weeks watching you from afar, attempting to see if you were okay, looking for some ‘evidence’ that you weren’t. Some hard proof that she could bring to Tommy and Maria, something to show that she wasn’t insane for attacking that man. And it wasn’t until the spring rolled into summer, and Ellie’s bruises from the incident had faded, that she found time to speak to you again.
There was a time when Ellie caught you without your ugly shadow - when you were by the coops, feeding the chickens, imitating their clucking and laughing to yourself.
“I think you’ve got a career as a chicken caller.” Ellie chuckled as she walked toward you.
You smiled when you looked up and saw her.
“Maybe.” You shrugged. “I just like them because if they say mean things to me, I don’t have to know.”
Ellie felt a lump rise up in her throat at the pain behind your words.
It left an awkward, painful silence for a moment before you spoke up again.
“Look, I’m sorry about before.” You told her. “If you thought you had to defend me, or…” You continued staring at the grainy feed on the ground, pointedly not looking at Ellie. “I piss him off. Often. He was just having a bad day, and I-”
“That’s no excuse for him to yell at you like that.” Ellie cut you off. She rushed to get the words out, desperate for you to know this at the truth. “He’s got a temper, doesn’t he?”
“So do you.” You chuckled. It wasn’t genuine laughter.
There was a twinge of fear in your voice. It made her nauseous. She never wanted you to fear her the same way that you clearly feared that horrible man.
“I’m sorry.” Ellie said quietly, intense guilt overtaking her. “I do genuinely apologize if I scared you. I just… I couldn’t stand to see you crying like that.”
“I totally get it.” You snorted, painful humor lingering in your voice. “It’s so annoying. But… sometimes I can’t help it.” Though you kept your voice steady, these simple words spoke volumes of pain.
Ellie wanted to ask why. She wanted to ask if there were more days when he pushed you to tears.
“I’m sorry that I’m such a crybaby.” You told her. You tried to laugh this off, as though it was just a funny trait of your personality, and not a fault of pain being inflicted onto you.
Ellie shook her head vigorously.
“No.” She quickly corrected you. “That’s not what I meant.”
Confusion knitted over your features. Ellie fought hard to find the words to explain it.
“I was angry because he made you cry.” She explained. “I was pissed off because he upset you, and - and, I know it’s stupid. I don’t even know you. But you don’t deserve that.”
Hearing those words for the first time was a truth so radical it almost tore the ground from underneath your feet. After years of being told that you weren’t worth the trouble - that the food you consumed was a burden, that the bullets used to protect you were a waste - being told for the first time that you didn’t deserve such treatment… you felt like the words didn’t belong in your ears.
“What?” You looked at her with pure shock overtaking your expression, a most genuine and raw reaction. “You really care that much about me being upset?”
This gripped Ellie’s insides worse than anything else. You could barely conceptualize someone caring about your feelings this genuinely.
“Yeah.” She admitted quietly. “I do care.”
This left your face tight with contemplation, intense thought. Ellie didn’t want to leave room for you to get too caught up in it, for you to overanalyze her genuine gesture. So she came up with something else.
“So… did you still wanna meet my horse? Maybe we could take her out for a ride?” Ellie posed.
You seemed hesitant. But eventually, you decided ‘fuck it’ - you might as well have some fun. Especially if it meant spending some time with someone who actually seemed to care about you.
Ellie took you to the stables and introduced you to Shimmer, and officially introduced you to herself, as you did in return - which seemed odd after all that had happened. But it was nice to finally have a name to go with your pretty face. It was nice to finally hear your laughter as Ellie made an age old joke about hay and horses.
After you took a while to pet the horse and get acquainted with her, Ellie got permission to go past the gate. She took you on a slow trot on the outskirts of Jackson. She had butterflies curling in her stomach the whole time as you gripped her waist, sitting on the back of the horse, and you smiled brightly and complemented how peaceful everything was.
When the two of you got back from the ride, you kissed Ellie on the cheek, and she nearly squealed with happiness.
And then, she didn’t see you for nearly a week afterwards.
She thought she had done something wrong, but she had a sneaking suspicion that it had nothing to do with her and everything to do with that awful man who barely let you out of his sight.
The next time she did see you, you were walking along closely behind that wicked man, your eyes low to the ground. And when she called out your name, you didn’t look up to greet her.
The sweet summer turned into fall and Ellie felt the guilt gnawing at her more, especially when she noticed the days or even weeks when you didn’t seem to come outside. Days when you didn’t show up to do your chores and were supposedly sick, days when nobody else seemed to care why you were missing.
There was that voice in her head. ‘She’s just a girl.’ The voice said. ‘It’s just a crush. It’s none of your business. You should just move on.’
Ellie couldn’t bring herself to listen to that voice. For some reason, she felt this thing gnawing deep in her gut - something that said you needed her.
Against her better judgment, Ellie went to the house she knew you were staying at, and knocked on the door.
She wasn’t surprised when you answered. You peeked through the door with only half your face showing, utterly terrified.
“What are you doing here?” You barked.
Ellie had a feeling that your anger was a formation of fear, and it wasn’t entirely directed at her.
“I was worried about you.” Ellie admitted shyly.
You opened the door further, hesitantly, and then pulled Ellie inside before you shut the door and closed all the locks. Ellie felt her stomach twist when she noticed you looking through the curtains, as though you were afraid for your life, looking out for danger.
Ellie had a distinct feeling that she knew what that danger was.
A giant lump formed in Ellie’s throat when you turned around and she saw it - that black eye, swollen and bruised, glaring at her. It was the part of your face you had been blocking with the other half of the door. There were other things she couldn’t see. Scrapes and bruises and hand shapes swats over your arms and torso, covered by your purposefully baggy sweatshirt with long sleeves.
“Just stop.” You said, turning to Ellie, your voice quaking with the intensity of your emotions. “Stop worrying about me.”
Ellie’s jaw tensed. She would find that intensely difficult - practically impossible.
“No.” She easily told you so. “I care about y-”
“Stop.” You said, a harsh cry in your throat.
It was too painful for you to consider. The idea that someone sweeter and nicer existed in the world and cared for you. The idea that the way of life you had known for years wasn’t the only way to survive.
“Look, I like you.” You added on. “You’re really sweet. But you don’t want me. I’m sure you can find someone else-”
Ellie stepped forward, her fingers brushing so gently over your cheek, right underneath the swelling of that awful black eye. You were so entirely startled by the pure gentleness of the touch that you let out a choked off sound from the back of your throat, almost a sob.
“He did this to you?” Ellie asked, her voice deadly calm and quiet.
You refused to answer.
“Is he your fucking boyfriend?” She prodded, her voice even sharper and more offended now.
You scoffed, pulling away from her touch. You thought she was jealous of the idea of you having a romantic partner. But in fact, she was deeply offended at the universe, she was in turmoil at the idea that someone would even consider hurting you when they claimed to love you.
“My brother.” You told her, the word almost sounding like poison on your tongue. “I would never choose someone like him. But I’ve been stuck with him for as long as I can remember.”
“Oh.” Ellie said quietly.
It was not a possibility she had considered. But she knew that there had never been any romantic connotations to the interactions between the two of you. Only danger, intimidation, and pain.
It was almost a worse fate, in a sense. The idea that you had been saddled with him because of genetics, that you couldn’t escape him because of obligation, or being forced to survive together.
“Yeah, oh.” You repeated, tears clutching the inside of your throat. “And really, it’s none of your business. He’s always taken care of me. He takes care of me, so-”
“This is not taking care of you.” Ellie argued sharply, gesturing to the mark on your face. “If you need someone to take care of you, I’m right here.”
You rolled your eyes at this. Again, you thought it was jealousy. That it was her trying to make herself seem appealing as a romantic partner.
You didn’t know that she was serious, that she would give you the world on a silver platter if given the chance.
“And I sure as hell won’t hit you.” Ellie added on.
“That’s easy for you to say.” You scoffed.
“That’s easy for me to do.” She fired back. “Not beating the people you love is the bare fucking minimum. In case no one ever told you that.”
Her last words were intensely sharp, but struck a chord deep inside of you. It caused your stomach to churn with harsh realization, something you probably already knew that was brought to the surface and waved in your face:
This was not a life that everyone lived.
“I can’t do this right now.” You huffed quietly, shaking your head.
You were still swimming deep in denial, hating the idea that your life was founded entirely on pain. But Ellie would fight through all of that pain to get to you.
“Come on, how long is it gonna be before he kills you?” She asked, the words quiet but devastatingly striking.
You remained painfully silent.
“What kind of life is this for you?” She spoke up when you did not reply. “There’s so much more out there for you that doesn’t involve your asshole brother.”
“Look, you know nothing about him.” You said sharply. “You don’t know what kind of life he’s had. You don’t know what he’s been through. What we’ve been through. Some of the things he’s saved me from.”
Ellie could only imagine what was going through your mind. Obviously, she had seen some of the darker things the world was capable of. She knew that if your brother had saved you from some of those horrors, it made him look like a saint by comparison.
She wanted to scream that you didn’t have to go through this. Life didn’t have to be like this. Absorbing his hits and being a target for his anger wasn’t necessary for your survival.
“Usually it’s my fault anyway.” You sighed. “I meant what I said before. I have some weird talent for pissing him off.”
Ellie was downright insulted at this.
“It is not your fault.” She rushed to say, her throat straining with the intense passion behind the words.
You found it difficult to believe her.
Any reply you could have mustered was drowned out by the sound of heavy boots coming up the porch.
“Get out.” You barked at Ellie, panicked. “Get out, you have to leave.”
You shoved Ellie out the back door before she could argue, and the sound of more screaming and an ugly collision of a hand on flesh made Ellie clench her fists to avoid charging back inside. She had to tell herself one simple thing - she wouldn’t be able to explain a murder to Maria or Tommy.
She wouldn’t have to.
And there was maybe only one other person in town who would understand.
She went right from your place to Joel’s, and he seemed too pleased about her being there in order for him to really question it. He seemed even more pleased when she asked for his help.
When Ellie explained the situation, she was surprised that Joel didn’t want to take it to Maria. But they both knew that she was diplomatic. She had an entire town to think of. She couldn’t be chasing down people’s personal problems, and she couldn’t be known for doling out vigilante justice. She had to make people in Jackson feel safe, and she didn’t think that civilian trials and public executions would be the way to do that. And as far as Ellie knew, nobody in Jackson had ever acted up like this before. Maybe they were just good at keeping it a secret. (That thought scared her more than anything.)
Joel suggested something about a quiet smothering and a shovel. Nobody would ever find the guy’s body, he reasoned.
Ellie didn’t want it that way. Even if the guy was a piece of shit, he was your only family. She knew that in some fucked up way, you would miss him.
No - it needed to be his choice. And he wasn’t going to make the right choice on his own. So they had to guide him to it. Well, they had to force him to it and shove his face in the damn right choice.
And then, if he didn’t make the right choice - then they would go to Joel’s version, a Plan B, and they would get the shovel.
Her and Joel talked it over for hours, making a solid Plan A. When they were both finally satisfied, Ellie left out the back door to head to her place to finally crash for the night - when had it gotten dark out?
She paused in her tracks when she saw you standing at the bottom of the few stairs that led up to the porch.
You had a large sweatshirt hood pulled up over your head, and in the minimal light from the back door’s bulb, Ellie could see that your eyes were entirely startled. Your cheek was sporting a fresh, wicked bruise that hadn’t been there before. Your lip was busted, and you had the neck of the sweater pulled up, half hiding some marks on your neck.
Clearly your brother had come home furious about something. Perhaps he had seen Ellie leaving. She partially felt guilty about it, and definitely felt more secure in her plan.
“I - uh - I ran into Dina, and she said I could find you here.” You said, motioning off to where you must have spoken to Dina, muttering nervously because Ellie had been standing there for a few moments staring you down with sadness in her eyes and had not spoken. “I was gonna knock. But… I…”
‘I got nervous.’ The words were lost on your tongue. You knew it sounded strange. Being afraid to knock. Being afraid to ask for help.
Ellie walked down the steps to meet you on the ground, and you didn’t move away when she reached up and brushed a gentle thumb across your lip - not quite touching the area when it had been split open, but clearly scorning it in her mind.
She wanted to suggest something about running away, but she knew Joel would just come after her. The easier solution would simply be to get rid of the awful man who had done this to you.
You grabbed her wrist and leaned into her hand. She cupped your cheek then, holding you so tenderly that it almost hurt. Your body was so unfamiliar with sweetness, with comfort.
“I can’t do this.” You sobbed quietly. “Ellie, I can’t do this.”
You weren’t feeling brave enough to leave the familiar, the thing that bound you in pain and torment.
“Yes, you can.” Ellie told you firmly.
She gently tilted your head up, forcing your gaze toward hers.
“Ask me.” She told you.
You both knew what it meant.
‘Ask me for my help.’
‘Ask me to get rid of that monster, and I will.’
You let it bubble inside of you. The words swelled up inside of your throat, and a wicked sob escaped, causing hot tears to leak down and touch Ellie’s hand before you got it out.
“Help me.” You croaked. “Please.”
“I will.” Ellie told you firmly. “I’ll get rid of him.”
She leaned in then and planted a kiss on your forehead, something sweet enough to render another sob from your throat. When she moved to pull away, you reached around and grabbed the back of her shirt, clutching on tight to keep her there, pulling her into a hug and holding her to savor the precious temporary moment you were able to be away from your tormentor.
“Ellie?” You said her name, and she hummed a response, still leaning with her lips gently pressed against your forehead. “I know - I know it’s so stupid. But… I don’t want him dead.” You told her. Ellie had predicted as much. “I just… I want him gone.”
“It’s not stupid.” Ellie assured you. “I understand.”
By the time Ellie got everything together, the cold was just setting in.
The first snowfall had just hit Jackson, and she had made sure to keep a close eye on you in the interim. You told her over and over again that you were going to be fine.
A few times you even went back on your ask, you told her that you and your brother were getting along much better. Ellie’s gut churned on the days when you smiled and told her that things between you and your brother were getting much better, that he was making an effort to control his temper, that you could see him making ‘big changes’.
On for another fresh wound to show up on you and when she would ask you about it, you broke down crying and declared that it was all your stupid fault.
Ellie knew that he was never going to change. And it only made her more firm in her convictions to carry through with the plan that she and Joel had carefully laid out.
Gathering the supplies needed for her plan wasn’t as hard as she originally thought.
The pharmacy in Jackson was surprisingly easy to steal from. She found a pharmaceutical journal in the library; finding out which drugs could knock out a grown man and memorizing the names of them - not that hard.
And then Ellie took an easy fall during one of her patrols, wincing and whining about the pain in her twisted wrist far more than she felt it, getting the nurse to unlock the drug cabinet to give her some tylenol with codeine. Then she ‘accidentally’ knocked over a tray with a bunch of stray pieces on it, and she got what she needed out of the unlocked cupboard like clockwork.
She wasn’t sure if the people in Jackson were naive, or if she was far too used to being a criminal.
Her wrist had healed up nicely by the time everything else was ready.
Joel thought it would be wisest that they use his basement.
He explained to Ellie that they could use an old military technique - shut out all the light, take away anything potentially familiar about the room, make it naked and bare and anonymous so that it would seem like a random place that could be anywhere.
It would be right in town, but the prospect of seeming so far off, so ‘in the middle of nowhere’ - it would be a good part of the scare tactic. They spent some time cleaning out the basement, putting garbage bags over the windows, and draping the room in plastic tarping - partially to scare him, and partially, just in case.
Joel got a bottle of cheap whiskey that he watered down some, and Ellie poured out the bottle of pills onto the counter with the intention to crush them all up and mix them with the alcohol.
“Christ Ellie, that’s enough to take down a goddamn horse.” Joel commented.
Clearly, it was too many pills.
Ellie took a handful of them - half, and put them back in the original bottle. When she looked up at Joel again, he shook his head. Still too many?
“Here, let me.” He said, gently shouldering her out of the way so he could make the mixture himself.
“You act like you’ve done this before.” She commented.
“You act surprised that I’ve done this before.” He replied.
He did have a point. Especially considering that when Joel had met Ellie, he had likely been expecting her to be a large bag of drugs, and not a child who needed to be smuggled.
Joel put back a much bigger portion of the pills, only leaving four tablets that he began to crush up to be mixed in with the drink.
“The alcohol is gonna magnify the effects of this stuff. A lot.” Joel explained, emphasizing the last words. “You kept saying you didn’t wanna kill him. So you don’t need to give him an overdose.”
Ellie nodded. It was a good point. She felt lucky to have his help with this.
Joel scraped the crushed up tablets - now a powder - into the bottle, and put his thumb over the opening to seal it while he shook it up, making sure it was well dissolved before he put the cap back on.
“Remember. Pour one for yourself, but don’t fucking drink from it.” Joel reminded her.
It was a mental tactic. Pour two glasses, so as to not seem suspicious, but don’t take a sip.
Joel handed her the bottle, and they walked over to your place.
Ellie made sure that Dina was keeping you busy with spare chores, things she supposedly couldn’t do without your help, ensuring that you would be out of the house for the night and wouldn’t miss your brother gone. Ellie went around to the front door and Joel went to the back, waiting for her signal.
She knocked on the front door and when your brother answered, she waved the bottle. She apologized for the two of them having gotten off ‘on the wrong foot’ when he first came into town. She claimed that she wanted to set things right with him.
He looked her up and down with suspicion, but opened the door. He fetched a couple of glasses and Ellie did as Joel instructed - poured one for herself after she poured one for him, took it in her hand, but didn’t sip from it.
He eagerly knocked the first drink back and Ellie hated the fact that he didn’t pass out right away. He poured himself a second and she forced herself to make an attempt at conversation.
She asked about one of the pictures he had on the mantle over the fireplace - a framed photo of him and some woman. He grunted, saying that it was ‘his bitch’ but ‘she was dead now’. The way he spoke about women made Ellie want to hurl. This caused the conversation to lull into him asking if Ellie had a boyfriend.
She shrugged it off. Especially seeing as he didn’t seem like the most accepting type if she told him why she didn’t have one. Then he looked her up and down as though he was inspecting her. As though just because she didn’t have a man in her life, that made her an available prospect for him. Ellie clutched her glass so hard she thought it cracked.
He took more gulps of his drink, and then he mentioned you. He said that he had seen Ellie talking to you.
He wasn’t clever about his intentions. He wanted to know why someone who was clearly friendly toward his sister wanted to be on his good side all of a sudden.
Before she could make up some lie, the drugs kicked in. He became hazy, and made a slurred thought about his liquor tolerance being higher normally before he dropped to the floor, out cold.
Ellie knocked on the back door for Joel, and they had his unconscious body halfway down the basement stairs when Tommy’s voice came into the house, shouting for Joel. They both gave each other that ‘oh shit’ look and Joel dropped the man’s head like a sack of potatoes. He rushed up the stairs to talk to Tommy before his brother could come to them.
Ellie dragged the dead weight the rest of the way, and she listened as the voices carried through the house. Joel was getting called out for an emergency patrol route - a large horde of Infected had been spotted near the west watch tower.
Tommy asked for Ellie too, but Joel lied and said that he hadn’t seen her.
As Joel was gathering his things to leave, he went to the top of the basement stairs. He gave Ellie one last firm, knowing look. It was an out. She knew that if she wanted to, he would stay back and help her clean up the mess, and they would find some other way to go about things so she wouldn’t have to go it alone.
But she was firm in her convictions.
“I’ve got this.” She told him, giving him a nod.
He nodded back and then closed the basement door.
She picked a steady beam in the ceiling.
She dangled off it with her body weight to make sure it wouldn’t budge (even though your asshole brother was probably a good hundred pounds heavier than her). And then she put him in the noose Joel had tied, with the rope tied precariously around the beam.
She had more than enough slack on it to make sure that he wouldn’t choke while still unconscious from the drugs. As tempting as it was to simply kill the man who had been abusing you for years, this was about scaring him. This was a warning. An attempt to get him to make the right choice. His hands were tied behind his back, making him unable to get away.
As he came around to consciousness, he began to groan and squirm, and Ellie wasted no time in putting her plan into action.
She went to where she had the other end of the rope tied, fashioned to some hook that might have been used to hang up tools or something else at one point, and she untied it and hoisted him up. He choked furiously as his breath was cut off by the noose, and Ellie made sure he was far enough off the ground before she grabbed something else important - the stool.
When preparing, Joel had intentionally cut off two of the legs, making it wobbling and unsteady. She put it underneath him and guided his legs to it, and then he took a wheezing breath as the pressure was released from his neck while his feet wobbled on it unsteadily.
“What the fuck?” He barked out, obviously trying to sound intimidating when he was so breathless. “What the hell is wrong with you?! You’re fucking insane!”
Ellie took a step back, looking up at him with a neutral expression. He was entirely powerless. He couldn’t swing and hit her, he couldn’t run. If he jumped, he would hang himself. He was completely at her mercy, and he had to listen to what she had to say.
In regards to the question, she shrugged.
“Maybe.” She said simply. “I just wanna talk.”
“Oh, you wanna talk?!” He growled out the words in anger, still trying to sound lager and more powerful than he was.
And then, all too predictably, he swung out his leg in an attempt to kick her.
Ellie easily dodged it, and the motion made him unsteady on the stool. Both his legs fell off, and she simply watched as he struggled, hanging freely by the noose for a few moments. He sputtered and choked, kicking around frantically to get his feet back on the stool. It was a wonder that he didn’t knock it over.
Eventually, he did get back up to stand on it before he passed out. He continued to choke on the air, veins bulging in his face from the effort. All while Ellie stood back, arms crossed, staring at him condescendingly.
“That was stupid.” She commented quietly.
“Fuck you!” He choked out.
“Look, the way I see it, you have two choices. Maybe three.” Ellie explained.
He glared at her with absolute poison in his eyes, but remained silent and still, other than the tremors in his legs as he struggled to balance on the stool.
“Option one: you continue being a petty bitch, so I leave you here.” She told him simply. “You can test your endurance for a few hours, maybe even a few days. But no one will find you, if they come looking at all. And eventually, your legs will give out from exhaustion and you’ll hang.”
“Y/N will come for me.” He replied confidently. The devilish smirk that spread across his face gave Ellie the urge to smack him.
“No.” Ellie argued, just as quick, just as confident. “You really think Y/N is gonna be able to find you?”
This was the mind game Joel had talked about. He was right in Jackson, right under your nose. Would he shout for help, or would he believe that he was out in the middle of nowhere, stranded somewhere that you would never be able to find him?
His silence was all too telling. Ellie resisted the urge to smile, knowing how important a firm, intimidating face was in this situation.
“Option two,” She continued on, taking his silence as a sure sign that he didn’t like option one. “You can listen to what I have to say, and you can get agreeable about it real fast.”
“What’s option three?” He asked.
Of course, he didn’t like option two either. He didn’t like being agreeable.
But Ellie had a feeling that in a few minutes, option two would be the one that he’d beg for.
“You say something I don’t like,” She got her switchblade out of her back pocket, and clicked the switch to show off the sharp, shiny blade. “And then I kill you.”
There was a pointed moment of silence as he looked between the sharp point of her knife and her unforgiving, deadly calm expression. For a moment, his enraged face wavered, and then came fear. It was just a flicker, but Ellie saw it as weakness. And she was going to exploit it.
“What the fuck do you want?” He barked.
“It’s very simple.” Ellie explained. “Leave Y/N the fuck alone. Get your shit, leave town, and get as far away from her as possible.”
“That’s my sister.” He argued. “That’s my blood. You can’t just expect me to abandon the only family I have, I-”
“If you respected her as your family, you wouldn’t fucking beat her.” Ellie cut him off, the words turning to poison on her tongue.
He looked intensely caught in that moment, his expression becoming ghostly. As if he somehow hadn’t figured out that this whole thing was about his abusive ways.
“What? You don’t like me ‘cause I protect her? ‘Cause I look out for her?” He immediately switched, swelling into that self righteous, taunting person he was with you. “You wanna fuck her, don’t you? You fucking self righteous rug muncher, think you know what’s better for my own sister than I do! What the hell is wrong with you? You-”
As he ranted, Ellie stepped forward and hesitantly grabbed the waistband of his pants. Clearly, the message wasn’t getting through to him.
And though it was something more disgusting to her than blood, guts, viscera, even the smell of an old moldy building - Ellie yanked down his pants in one swift movement, trying to ignore the sight of it in front of her. She placed her switchblade right at the spot where his dick met his inner thigh, simply resting it there.
The feeling of the cold metal in such a sensitive spot easily shut him up. His stomach clenched as he held his breath, likely waiting for Ellie to cut him.
With him on the stool, it was hovering at around eye level, and she tried her hardest not to look directly at it. For you, it was worth it. That’s what she told herself.
“Listen carefully,” Ellie told him, her voice still low, still deadly calm. “You are going to agree to my terms, or they’re going to find your body missing this.” She threatened him, gently nudging the blade upwards, not yet cutting into flesh.
He gasped, shock and horror crashing through his system. He continued to struggle with balancing on the stool, struggling not to lean into the knife by accident and maim himself by mistake.
He looked at Ellie with terror in his eyes, but oddly enough, he didn’t say anything. Ellie considered it progress.
“I’m going to be very generous,” She said lowly, making it sound like a threat. “You have twenty four hours to get your shit, and get the hell out of Jackson. I don’t give a fuck what you tell Y/N. In fact, you don’t have to tell her anything at all. Just disappear. I don’t care where you go. Just get the fuck away from here. The farther, the better.”
Ellie paused, letting her words hang in the air for a moment.
“If you’re still in town by sundown tomorrow, I will kill you.” She said. “If you tell Y/N about this little incident, I will kill you. If I see Y/N later and she has a single scratch on her-”
“You’ll kill me.” He quickly finished off the sentence as he thought she would say it.
Ellie shook her head, putting on a wicked grin of her own for the first time during the conversation.
“No.” She said, a chuckle peeking through her voice. “I’ll make it slow. I’ll make you beg for death. I’ll make you wish that you had taken this very fucking generous first offer.”
There was another silence, filled only by the wobbling legs of the stool rocking against the ground, and the man’s anxious breaths.
Ellie wondered if he was stupid enough to decline her generosity.
“Okay.” He finally agreed.
Ellie hoped that she wouldn’t have to follow through on her threats, but she wouldn’t hesitate to.
She took her knife away from his crotch, leaving a small nick on his inner thigh that would hopefully serve as a good enough reminder of what he was supposed to do.
Of course, the temptation to hurt him more brutally was there. She knew that if Joel came home and she was covered in blood - he would help her clean up. He would help her hide the body. But Ellie knew that this was about something bigger than herself, her own rage, her own guilt.
It was about keeping your conscience clean.
She knew that if you ever found out that she had killed your brother, no matter the reason, no matter the situation - the guilt would fall back onto you. You would spend the rest of your days wondering how you could have done things differently to solve a problem that was never your fault. So she would take the burden of guilt or fault off of you, and force it onto him - where it belonged. He would get to live, but he would never go near you. Not ever again.
After thinking about all of this for a moment, and calming herself, Ellie unceremoniously cut him down, letting him fall into the middle of the floor with a grunt. She pulled his pants back up and shoved a bag over his head. The bag something else that Joel had woven into the plan - another scare tactic.
She kept his arms bound behind him as she struggled to lug him all the way across town without getting caught. He struggled against her hold and spoke up every now and then, demanding to be released, but Ellie simply kicked him and told him to shut up. It worked well. It seemed that he was truly afraid of her, because he was much more docile now than the man who had risked hanging himself to kick her in the head.
She dumped him on the back porch of your house and cut the ties on his wrist. He could feel stupid later for the fact that he had been in town the whole time, not secluded off in the woods someplace you would never find him. He yanked the bag off his head and looked up at Ellie with pure scorn in his eyes, and she held up her knife once more, reminding him just how sharp it was as she left him with some parting words.
“Sundown. Tomorrow.” She told him firmly. “Or Y/N won’t even find the pieces of you scattered out in those woods.”
Ellie was surprised when he didn’t say a single word, didn’t even hurl any insults at her back as she walked away.
She had no idea that he was happy to cut his losses, thinking that you weren’t worth the trouble if Ellie was willing to kidnap, threaten, and eventually kill for you.
Ellie went to bed early and hoped that everything had worked.
She woke up from a deep, hazy sleep to pounding on her door.
She struggled to get out of bed, thinking there was some kind of emergency. She flicked on a light and opened the door, and you came rushing inside.
Ellie almost didn’t see you through her sleep dulled eyes, her lids still half-closed, but she recognized your voice as she closed the door behind you.
“My brother is gone.” You said, your voice edging between worry and fear. Ellie thought you might be relieved. She didn’t know that you were still tentative - scared that he might come back, terrified it was a trick. “It’s just - he just packed up all his things, and when I woke up, he was gone. And he left me this note.”
You thrust a piece of paper into Ellie’s hands, and she blinked her sticky eyes open a few times in order to read it. She scanned over the messy writing, barely absorbing it. It was some bullshit about how Jackson ‘wasn’t right for him’ and he felt ‘suffocated’ and he was going to travel to catch up with your group who had gone to the coast, he thought he was a man of the sea, blah blah - but you needed to stay in Jackson, because it would be safer for you.
“It’s a trick.” You announced as Ellie read over the words. Your voice quaked, your throat tight with fear. When Ellie looked up, tears were dancing in your eyes. There were sharp scratches on your neck - they were scabbing over, and a greenish bruise on your cheek that was fading. “It’s gotta be a trick. He’s testing me. He wants me to - to follow him? Or he’s coming back, or-”
Ellie tossed the paper aside, uncaring of where it landed, and then stepped toward you, grasping your face with gentle hands.
“It’s okay.” She said calmly. “He’s gone.”
She echoed the words you had said that night, letting you know that she had miraculously granted your request.
If it was true, then you would consider her a guardian angel. But you almost couldn’t bring yourself to believe it.
“You did something.” You said quietly. It wasn’t accusing. It was a simple truth. You swallowed thickly. You waited before you asked your next question. “Is he dead?”
You would have hated to think that Ellie would go through so much trouble to frame his murder as him simply leaving town.
“Would you hate me if he was?” She replied.
Strangely enough, you had no clue how to feel.
Ellie saw the warring on your face, the years of pain tethering in your soul, and hoped to release you from it.
“He’s alive.” She sighed, a heavy awful truth floating from her lips. You looked somewhat relieved, but then that fear pricked into your big, sad eyes once again. “He’s not coming back. I can promise you that.”
If he did, Ellie would kill him. But she didn’t speak those words to you.
You lunged forward then, tightening your hands around her back, squeezing her with intense, passionate ferocity as you pressed your face into her shoulder and began to sob. Ellie held you dutifully, trying her hardest to be gentle with you, petting smoothly over your back as her heart ached at the sound of your cries. She had no idea that it was relief - pure relief exhaling from your lungs, the feeling of finally being able to breathe with the presence of that dark tormentor no longer hanging over your life.
“Thank you.” You sobbed, clutching onto her shirt. “Thank you, Ellie. Thank you.”
…
When Joel came back from his patrol, he asked where Ellie had buried the body. She sighed and told him that the guy had made the wise decision to leave town. Completely of his own accord. He shrugged and said he didn’t care either way - he just wanted to meet the ‘lovely young woman who was worth going through all the trouble for’.
Ellie invited you over for steaks at Joel’s house a few days later, and artfully dodged all the questions about whether you were dating or not.
…
A few months later, when winter thawed out and spring had come around once again, Ellie had taken you beyond the walls of Jackson once again, both of you delighting in the purity of everything nature had to offer, and your newfound freedom.
“Is it just me or is the air out here… fresher?” You posed, inhaling deeply as you threw your head back, truly basking in the nature around you.
Ellie giggled at this, and you threw a smile back over your shoulder at her. You walked along the path, bobbing between the trees and enjoying the greenery as it thawed out from the snow.
“It’s the mountains, there’s nothing but fresh air up here.” Ellie chuckled. “As far as I’m concerned, it beats living in the city. That place stunk to high hell. People piled on top of each other, old rotting buildings, no trees anywhere.”
You let out a small laugh at this. It wasn’t Ellie’s greatest work in comedy, but your lungs felt much lighter these days, and she soaked up the sound like the new saplings soaking up the sun.
She had also noticed your choice of attire for the day. For her, there was still that small nip in the air, something indicating that there might be one last frost left to the year, something that made her want to wear a sweater. But you had worn a short sleeved tee shirt with your jeans, and Ellie preened at the fact that there was not a single bruise anywhere on your skin. Some old scars that she could never have the hopes of reversing, but more and more lately, your smile outshined all of them.
“Ooh, look at this!” Ellie came to crouch at a small patch of grass, what you didn’t recognize as thick reeds that were somewhat special to her.
“What is it?” You asked.
“Joel taught me this.” She noted, making you even more intrigued.
Ellie plucked one out of the dirt, and held it between her two palms before she held it up to her two lips and blew - it made a sharp noise like a duck’s call, and you instantly began giggling at this delightfully strange sound.
“Okay, how did you do that?” You asked, kneeling down beside her.
Ellie grabbed up another one and put it in your hands, positioning them well. After a nod from her, you put it to your lips and gave a hard breath. You dissolved into laughter once again when it made that strange sound.
“I love that.” Ellie commented, absolutely beaming herself.
“What? You play the guitar but your favorite instrument is grass?” You joked.
“No.” She replied. “I love that smile.” She told you, motioning up toward your face. “That’s why I fell in love with you.”
“Els.” You murmured quietly, unable to truly explain the wave of emotion that came over you - being intensely thankful for her saving you, changing the course of your life, the swelling of love you felt for her and how it only grew with time.
Ellie didn’t need words. She leaned in and kissed you then, and you - for the first time in a long time - relaxed into her love and let yourself be happy.
From time to time, you were tempted to ask what exactly it was that she had done to make your brother go away. But as the months ticked on and your relationship developed - as Ellie helped you navigate your freedom and enjoy the sweeter things in life, you found that you truly didn’t care.

Corrival
Tumblr media
Pairing: Chris Sturniolo X Female Reader
Synopsis: Y/N is sent on a blind date by her friend, but what happens when she recognizes the guy….will she pursue him, or will she let the memories of her past control her decision🗣️
Warnings⚠️: This is so long I FORGOT WHATS IN IT, but there SMUT🤭
Song for the imagine: I hate everything about you- Three Days Grace
⚠️This is an 18+ imagine, so minors do not interact, or do??⚠️
“Chloe…IM NOT GOING ON A BLIND DATE” I spoke loudly into the phone
“Stop being annoying, and literally go out! Like give him a chance he’s a great guy” she said on the other line
“You don’t understand my taste….you pick the worst guys for me” I told her putting my laundry away
“I promise you! You’ll be thanking me after this date”she said
“What makes you think this?” I asked her
“Because I know the guy, and he’s really nice. I immediately thought he would be perfect for you” she said
“Fine whatever. What day, what time and what’s the place” I asked her rolling my eyes
“Yayyy! Okay so it’s Thursdays night, over at the restaurant in downtown I can’t remember the name, and at 7pm” she said
“You’re sending me to downtown Boston…ALONE” I asked her
“Would you relax, it's a Thursday at 7pm, and you’ll have the guy to protect you. Also the restaurants called Foxtrot” she said
“Fine, and if this date suck you owe me so much money” I told her before hanging up on her
It was now Thursday, and I was getting ready to meet this mystery man at Foxtrot. The restaurant seemed nice but not anything fancy, probably similar to a chain restaurant . I decided on wearing black wide leg cargo pants with a fitted cropped black shirt that said screw you on the back in red with red screws on the front, and my red and white air Jordan 11 retros. It was simple but it was hot. I flat ironed my hair and did my makeup. I took some pics for instagram, and posted them, and I posted one to my close friends on instagram
“Going on a blind date wish me luck, thanks @chloethedawn 🙃”
I had ubered to the restaurant, and got out Chloe had texted me before I got there, that the mystery man was sitting in the last booth all the way in the back on the right hand side. I went in and told the hostess I was meeting someone, and she allowed me back
I walked towards the back, and all I saw was someone with a hat with their head down, and when he lifted his head, my mouth dropped….. I’m going to kill Chloe.
Flashback
I had just moved to Boston sophomore year of high school, and didn’t have any friends. That was until I met Chloe and Nick who then introduced me to Alana, and then they introduced me to Nicks brothers Chris and Matt.
I became really close with Chloe and then Nick, but Chloe was my best friend. I even considered her a sister. She was always with Nick, so it would always be Chloe, Nick, Alana and I hanging over at nicks house
Slowly I started talking to Matt, and him and I became friends, and I tried to talk to Chris, but he was such a fucking dick all the time.
He was rude to me at school and outside of school. What sucked was that I really started to have a crush on him, and I tried to be as nice as I could. I think he realized I had a crush on him, so he started to be extra mean to me.
Chloe knew how much I hated yet loved him at the same time. She didn’t understand how I could like someone I hated, but I told her my brains fucked up
As we moved into junior year of high school my feelings for Chris never ever went away. In fact they got stronger day by day. I was still hanging out with all them, so it didn’t help that I saw his face every single day
We all had the same lunch, so we all sat together everyday as well. Everything was decent until one day we were chatting at lunch
“How much money to date y/n” Alana asked everybody
“Alana what the fuck” I said laughing at her
“To date four eyes? I’d rather kill myself” Chris said laughing
I think that was the day I truly started to hate myself, and how I looked because the comment Chris made meant he truly took in my appearance before saying anything.
That day was the reason I started to stop hanging out with them. I hung out with Chloe always, but rarely ever with Nick or Alana.
Towards the end of junior year I made a few new friends, and sat with them at lunch. Chloe understood, but she still felt bad that I let Chris words get to me
When senior year rolled around the triplets started to get a following on YouTube, and everyone at the school wanted to be their friend. I still talked to Nick and Matt, but I mainly stood friends with Chloe and Alana.
Senior year I started wearing my hair down, and I got contact lenses. Some boy started to notice me, but Chris was still a dick. He sat behind me in 7th period, and always called me four eyes, or made fun of me to his lacrosse friends who were near us. He would put stuff in my hair, click my hair and poke me. But I just ignored him no matter how much he pissed me off.
After senior year I went to community college, and only kept in contact with Chloe. The triplets started to get even more famous, and we just all grew apart. I went two years of no Chris, and slowly my feelings faded away.
Flashback over
Why in the fuck Chloe sent me on a date with this asshole was beyond me. It had been a little over two years at this point, of knowing nothing about Chris and his brothers.
Seeing him sitting there made me so angry, but nonetheless I walked over, and sat down across from him
“Hi” I said looking at him
“Hey” he said looking up and putting his phone down
He stuck his hand out for me to shake which I did
“Why do you look so familiar” he said after I shook his hand
“You don’t remember me Christopher?” I asked him
“Are you Chloe’s friend?” He asked me
“Yeah, and Alana’s….and I was Nicks….and Matt’s” I said waiting for the light bulb moment to happen
“I don’t recall” he said scratching his neck
“7th period history….senior year” I said looking at him
“Holy shit….youre four eyes” he said all giddy
“Im so glad to see that things never fucking change” I said rolling my eyes
“Sorry. Sorry I meant Y/N” he said shaking his head
“Yup….” I said rolling my eyes
“It’s been so long” he said taking a sip of his Pepsi
“Yeah, and I really wish it stood that way” I said looking for the waiter, so I could order myself a drink
“You left us” he said
“Gee I wonder why” I said smiling at him
“I wonder too. Nick was so sad when you stopped coming around” he said
“You wonder? Let me jog your memory. Junior year, lunch table, you called me four eyes, and said you’d rather kill yourself than date me” I said scoffing at him
“Oh…it wasn’t that serious though” he said waving his hand at me
“Wasn’t that serious…wow Chris you’re such a fucking airhead. Literally nothing has changed since high school” I said as I locked eyes with a waitress and waved her over
“I never meant for it to hurt you” he said
“Yeah well it did” I said crossing my arms over my chest
The waiter came over, and took my drink order, and also took our food order
“So uh…” he said trying to break the awkward silence
“What?” I asked him with an attitude
“I’m not sure what’s the attitude about, but I’ll ignore it” he said
“Christopher I don’t fucking like you, you were such a dick to me in high school, and seeing your face brought back all those terrible memories” I told him taking a sip of my root beer
“I’ve changed you know” he said rolling his eyes at me
“Still doing nothing with your life?” I asked him
“Actually, no. Nick, Matt and I got into the social media game and stood with it. We have over 5 million YouTube subscribers and over 7 million tik tok followers, and we just got back from tour” he said smiling at me, now I felt like the idiot
“Oh….even though I hate you I’m happy for you” I said trying not to smile at him
“Thanks! And how about you?” He asked
“Well um I finished my two years at college, and I’m a makeup artist right now, and that’s about it” I said shrugging my shoulders
“You know I’ve seen your work on instagram. I follow your makeup page. You’re really good” he said to me
“You follow my makeup page” I asked shocked
“Well yeah! I might’ve been a dick to you in high school, but I didn’t hate you” he said in a matter of fact way
“Oh….well thanks” I said, and at the same time our food came out
We started to eat, and not really chatting, just exchanging glances here and there.
“I saw you went to a Nardo Wick concert a few weeks ago” Chris randomly brought up
“Man I didn’t know you were watching me. I wouldn't have removed you off of social media” I said laughing a little bit
“Like I said I didn’t hate you” he said taking a sip of his drink
“But uh yeah I went to Nardos concert” I said
“Didn’t know you liked that type of music” he said
“Christopher…I moved here from New York I love hoodrat music like that” I told him
“I forgot” he said shaking his head
“What’s your favorite song?” I asked him
“Only if we can say it at the same time” he said
“Fine on the count of 1” I told him
“1,2,3 WICKED WITCH” we both yelled
“NO FUCKING WAY” we both said and started to laugh
“Alright Y/N I see you” he said nodding his head
“I guess we do have a lot in common then” I said looking at him
We spent the rest of the dinner laughing and catching up. I was starting to hate that him and I had a lot in common
“Man Chris if you were like this in highschool we would’ve been best friends” I told him
“I was an ass in high school” he said laughing
“You were, but it’s okay you’ve grown up” I said nodding my head at him
He looked at me for a split second like he was contemplating something
“Hey…wanna come to my house?” He said
“Ummm I’m not too sure Chris” I said
“Nick and Matt will be there” he said
“Yeah, but I don’t know” I said back
“Oh come on” he said
“Uhhh fine I guess” I said giving in
The waitress came back with the bill, and Chris immediately took care of it. Wow what a gentleman
After paying we got up and left walking out the door and to the right
“Where’d you park?” I asked him
“Park?” He asked confused
“Do you still not drive?” I asked rolling my eyes
“Nope!” He said all proud
“You really are a loser” I told him laughing
“Do you drive?” He asked me
“Yes, but I Ubered here. My car got totaled a month ago” I said
“Oh god!” He said shocked
“Yeah…drunk driver crashed right into my PARKED car….she was nice too. It was a Kia K5 perfect amount of sport car, and perfect amount of sedan” I said shaking my head
“Damn that sucks. Look who’s the loser now” he said laughing in my face
I rolled my eyes at him, and he ordered an Uber, and we ubered back to his parents house. It was a little after 9 now, and he said his parents would be sleeping, but Nick and Matt would be awake
When we got into his house we heard both boys in Nicks room. Chris walked to the door first, and opened it
“Yooo” he said
“How’d the date go?” Matt asked
“It went well” he said
“What was she like” Nick asked a little frightened
Chris moved back to allow me to enter the room
“NO FUCKING WAY” Nick screamed and ran over to me hugging me so tight
“NICKKKK I MISSED YOU” I said hugging him harder
“Dude I fucked missed you more. How the fuck did you guys land up on a blind date together” he asked
“Yeah yall fucking hated each other” Matt said
“It was Chloe” I said
“Fucking Chloeeeeee. Sneaky bitch” Nick said laughing
“I’m so glad to be seeing you guys again, and I’m so sorry I drifted from you both” I said
“These things happen, but I’m so glad you’re back here” Nick responded
We chatted for a little but before Chris asked if I wanted to go to his room, and I agreed
We went up to his room, and I sat on his bed. He shut the door
“It’s exactly the same” I said to him
“Well we live half here and half in LA, so there’s not much to do here” he said, slipping his sneakers off. I did the same
Chris and I were sitting on his bed just talking and laughing
“You’re so pretty” he said
“Thank you Chris” I said blushing
“You’ve always been pretty, but now you’re just so mature, and it’s hot” he said
“You know I used to like you in high school, and I thought you were so hot, but now….youre like a Greek god now” I told him
“Oh baby…don’t boost my ego” he said laughing
“It’s the truth…I don’t know your face not just looks more carved out, and you just got this look in your eyes now” I said staring at him
“ IM A MAN NOW” he said smacking his chest
“Oh god” I said laughing at him
“I’m just kidding baby” he said laughing with me
“I really want to kiss you right now, and I’m not sure if I’ll regret this or not” I told him looking down at his lips
“Come on princess, come kiss me” he said raising his eyebrows
I leaned forward, and started to kiss Chris. All those feelings I had for Chris in high school came rushing back. I felt like I was making my 16 year old self proud.
Chris slowly started to slip tongue into our kiss, and it became such a hot make out. Our tongues fighting for dominance and our teeth clanging together. As I pulled away I pulled Chris’ lip lightly
“Fuck baby that was so hot” Chris said looking at me through half lidded eyes
“Are you down to fuck” I asked him
“I’m down if you are, but this isn’t why I brought you here, and don’t feel forced to do anything you don’t want to” he said to me
“Chris I have wanted to fuck the shit out of you since I was 16….I AINT BACKING DOWN” I told him
“Oh princess I’m about to make your dreams come true”
He said
I got up and straddled Chris’ lap immediately smashing our lips together. Nothing but teeth and tongue as I started to grind down onto him
I pulled my shirt off, and unclipped my bra allowing my breast to fall free. Chris took his hat off tossing it to the right, and then pulled his shirt immediately connecting our lips again
“Fuck baby” he said pulling away and kissing my neck down to my chest, and then taking one breast into his mouth while massaging the other one
“Fuck Chris” I moaned out throwing my head back
Chris looked up at me with lazy eyes, as he moved to the other breast. Swirling his tongue around my nipple
He then started kissing down the valley of my breast, and lifting me up to kiss down my stomach.
With a flat tongue he licked from my stomach all the way back up to the valley of my breasts, up my chest, to the side of my neck, and then immediately met my tongue in another sloppy make out session
“God Chris you’re such a fucking slut” I said moaning
“Only for you baby” I said as he kept massaging my breasts
He let me stand up so I could remove my pants and under wears for him
My pussy was at mouth level to Chris, and he pulled me in closer lifting my left leg up to go over his shoulder, and immediately attached his mouth to my pussy
“OH FUCK” I said pulling onto his hair, and trying to stabilize myself
Chris was lapping at my pussy like it was water, and I was trembling barely able to moan because I couldn’t even believe what was happening right now
His nose was bumping against my clit in a way that was making my knees weak
“Chris I’m going to fall over” I said pulling his hair harder
He pulled away, and his mouth, nose and chin was covered in my arousal
“I need you so badly” I said rubbing my hands through his hair
“Whatever you want princess” he said
I got onto the bed, and Chris took his jeans and boxers off immediately hovering over me
“You gotta be real quiet princess” he said
“I promise Chris I’ll be good” I told him nodding my head
Chris make me like his palm so he could jerk himself off before fucking me
Chris was kind of leaning back on his knees, and he had my legs draped over his thighs. He thought his cock to my entrance and slowly started inserting himself into me
“Fuckkk” I whimpered as he slid all the way in
“Fuck baby you’re so tight” he said rubbing his hand from my stomach up through the valley of my breast, and lightly wrapping his hand around my throat, but not squeezing me
He started to thrust into me and good thing he didn’t have a traditional headboard because everybody would’ve known we were fucking
“Oh Chris” I moaned shutting my eyes
“Fuck baby you’re taking me so well” he said as he kept thrusting into me
His hips were smacking into me and his dick was hitting every single spot
“I need more” I moaned out
So Chris started pounding into me harder and faster, moaning and grunting and sweating. God this was so fucking hot
He snapped his hips into me, and I swear his dick kissed my cervix
“CHRIS” I yelled out
He immediately put his ring and middle finger in my mouth
“Shhhh baby” he said thrusting into me at a harder pace
“I always knew you’d be such a slut for me” he said as I sucked on his fingers and moaned around them
“Is my princess going to cum?” He said
“MHMM MHMM” I said around his fingers
“Good come on baby, cum for me” he said as he brought his other hand down to rub my clit
I was moaning on his fingers and thrashing around
Within seconds my hips came off the bed and my body started to shake as I came so hard on Chris’ dick
I was whimpering and trembling as he helped me ride out my high
He took his fingers out of my mouth and then pulled out of me. Taking his cock into his hand and jerking himself off
“I’m gonna cum” he said
Suddenly his jaw fell slack and his lower abdomen twitched, he came all over my stomach
“Fuck fuck fuck” he said as he came
We caught our breath, and he put his boxers back on, and ran to his bathroom to get tissue to clean me up
He came back and cleaned me up, and I slid my underwear back on, and he gave me one of his shirts to slip into
“God Chris….who would’ve known you were such a slut” I said as I laid down in his bed
“What’s crazy is my body count is only 1, well 2 now….you brought out the slut in me” he said laying down next to me and looking at me
“If there’s more of that, then I want it” I said
“You can have whatever you want baby” he said kissing me
Suddenly my phone started to ring, so I got up and walked over to grab it. It was Chloe and she was blowing my phone up
“Hello” I said as I put the phone on speaker
“BITCH WHAT THE FUCK YOU NEVER ANSWER ME I THOUGHT SOMETHING HAPPENED” she said yelling at me
“Im sorry…..we were busy” I said to her
“Busy doing what….” She said
“We were fucking” Chris yelled across the room
“CHRISTOPHER” I yelled
I took Chloe off of speaker
“Chloe I’ll talk to you tomorrow, and explain everything, but for right now I gotta go” I said and we hung up
“Come on baby, come lay with me” he said patting the side next to him
I ran over and laid with him, and we eventually fell asleep.

THE END OF ALL THINGS | gale dekarios
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
pairing: gale x gn!reader
word count: 2.4k
warnings: talk of insecurities with self, allusions to suicide/death (mystra when i fucking catch you), gale has no self confidence, not proof read i'm so sorry, i cannot stop slightly rewriting scenes from the companion's perspectives
Tomorrow, an inevitable fate will whisk him away from this plane of existence. But tonight? Tonight, the sky is alive and illuminated by a creation of his own making; if he is bound to sacrifice himself for a goddess that does not care for his life, then perhaps he is afforded selfishness in his final hours of existence.
It is not an unusual occurrence for Gale's words to seemingly run loose, escaping his mouth long before his brain—however knowledgeable it may be—has the chance to understand what he is saying. A small slip of the tongue, a misspoken sentence, an accidental admission of a thought that should have perhaps been voiced in a more private setting. He has always seemed to hold a special reverence for the sound of his voice; he knows how to string together a collection of sounds and syllables in his everyday speech that is akin to poetry, and his cadence cannot be ignored, not even intentionally. Even still, he falls victim to his prose far more than he would wish.
Especially around you.
He cannot seem to pinpoint the cause past you. There is no mistaking that his worst slip-ups—the kind that make heat spread across his cheeks and embarrassment sit on his chest—happen around you. He is unsure if it is the way the sunlight illuminates your eyes, transforming your already perfectly colored irises into an expanse of stars so vast that he could never hope to conjure a replica. He has contemplated the possibility of your laugh being the culprit; it is infectious, it is contagious, and it is a sound so melodious and rapturing that it could put a Harpy's song to shame. But no—he's sure that cannot be it. Nor could it be the gentleness of your voice during your conversations when it is late at night, when the camp—save for him and you—is asleep. It could not be the relentless selflessness and kindness that you have shown to strangers again and again and again.
It well and truly could not be the way you accepted him—his condition—and all of the impracticalities of his companionship without even a moment of question. It could not be that the relentless love you have shown to strangers, you shared with him tenfold; that despite the wretched monster, the menace he knows himself to be, you were kind—kind in a way that he fears he will never again find. It surely cannot be for any reason that could be mistaken for him being hopelessly in love with you; there is nothing that may be interpreted as his soul being eternally devoted to yours because his soul does not have an eternity—nor even a single lifetime—left. Perhaps it will only have tonight and the stars in the sky.
He knows he is selfish for entertaining these thoughts; however, he is unable to keep them from the front of his mind. He cannot keep you from the front of his mind. He knows that he is no good. He’s known it for longer than he can remember; he knows he is undeserving of your kindness, and it would be pure evil to ask for more from you.
But it would only be for tonight.
This is what he tells himself as he awaits your company with sweating palms and a racing heart. Perhaps the conjuration of himself was not the most romantic way to request your company for the evening, but he needed time—the stars were not going to hang themselves after all, and this had to be perfect. He has swallowed down his devotion to you for so long that he fears that one more moment will begin to choke him. Words will no longer do justice for you. It has to be perfect. He has to be perfect. He stands on the cusp of oblivion, moments away from taking his final steps, and he is desperate. Desperate to have you—the object of his desire and subject of his yearning—in his arms for the rest of his hours; desperate to live past tomorrow; desperate for a way out of his cruel fate; desperate to touch you, to hold you; desperate to be someone worth remembering; desperate for death; desperate for life; desperate to unwrap every layer of himself—to show you what little he has to offer; desperate for you to choose to stay in spite of that, even if only through tomorrow.
He is not sure hanging stars will provide him with much clarity on his conflicting desperations, but he does know that you will love them, and this is all that matters.
“Am I talking to the real Gale or mirror Gale now?” You question with a playfulness hidden behind your voice. Your eyes are glued to the sky. His are glued to your face, the way the moonlight dances across your cheekbones and illuminates your eyes. They cannot help but betray the depth of his affections.
He ignores your question, “Come—sit with me.” He lacks the mental clarity to reciprocate your lightheartedness. His heart seems to be the owner of his voice tonight (she is heavy, and he is running out of time). You join him on the grass, trying to ignore the anxiety balling up in your gut. He begins: “I love this time of night.” His heart hammers in his chest, and he is gripped with the fear that he has misread your previous interactions—that perhaps you were merely treating him with the same kindness you had shown every unfortunate soul that had thus crossed your path. Perhaps that moment of magic shared between you and the wish of a kiss, the lingering touches, stolen glances, and evenings shared while the camp rested were misread attempts at friendship rather than intimacy. Perhaps what he thought to be a deeply intimate connection shared through not only your souls but the Weave itself was simply nothing—a fairytale conjured by the emotionally starved recesses of his brain, which echoed through the hollowness of his ribcage, a desperate piece of him holding onto the illusion that he was enough.
Nevertheless, he has to do this—if he is to die tomorrow, it cannot be without you knowing how special you truly are.
He meets your gaze once more, though you are still enraptured by the picturesque scene before your eyes: “There’s an almost reverent silence that accompanies the peak of darkness, when you’d believe the dawn will never break.” He hopes you cannot see the slight tremble in his hands as he speaks, “The cradle of eternity… the timelessness of lovers.” Your gaze finally meets his, and Gale can only pray that he would be shown the mercy of a believable facade of confidence. He is terrified, more so than he has ever been, but he does not want you to know this. He wants to be seen as a man who is hopelessly devoted to you, not because of desperation in the face of an imminent demise, but rather because this is how it has been since the moment he laid eyes on you, how it was always destined to be, and he dreads the thought of his fear leading you to believe anything less than that he would renounce every one of the Gods and Goddesses and declare them as false idols in favor of merely worshiping the ground beneath your feet.
The softness in your eyes allows him to relax, and the slight raise of your eyebrows invites him to push this conversation further: “The most beautiful of fantasies.” His eyes part from you to look upon his creation.
“Did you do all of this?” Tears begin to well up in your eyes. Has anyone ever performed such a gesture for you?
A small wave of confidence surges through his veins. “I did.” He dares another glance into your eyes, and he believes them to be far more intricate than his conjuration in the sky. “The curse still lingers, of course—just veiled and at an arm’s length for now. Not a trick I can repeat often, but tonight is… different.” Your face crumples, and Gale’s fear returns tenfold. He knows you are no fool—that you know exactly why he chose tonight for such a spectacle; that you are no less aware than him of what tomorrow will bring. Perhaps even more than him. The sadness that radiates from your body is palpable, nearly creating an almost physical barrier between your two bodies and leaving a rotten smell in the air. “Tonight may be my las—”
Your voice, normally so sweet, is laced with a combination of rage and despair, and something else that Gale was simply unable to identify: “Don’t say that. We’ve discussed this time and time again, Gale. There has to be another way.” Your words come out rushed—panicked as though he would disappear before you could finish speaking.
“You know there isn't.”
“There has to be. I do not want to lose you. I cannot lose you, Gale; I do not want to leave you.” The sincerity in your eyes feels akin to his chest being ripped open, his heart exposed to the coolness of the night, and torn from him. “Have you no sympathy for those left to stand in your ashes?”
But this has to be done. (Doesn't it? Doesn't he burn with the desire for forgiveness? for a purpose greater than himself? Is this not the only way he will find it?)
“Do not be so foolish. I have no desire to leave you—you must know how special you are to me.” He does not miss how your body flinches at the words that he cannot prevent from leaving his mouth. Instead, he turns his head far enough to shield his eyes from the hurt he has inflicted. "But this is the only option. I cannot idly stand by and watch you or anyone else die, knowing I possess the ability to put an end to this. You must understand: I am doing this because I love you. I cannot bear the risk of living knowing it came at the expense of your life.”
He did not entirely realize the magnitude of his verbal slip, perhaps his most damnable yet, until he met your eyes once again. "You—you what?” In an instant, your gaze softens. The rage once dividing your bodies fades into an entirely new sensation, one that Gale still remains unable to identify. Gale, however, feels nearly sick to his stomach. This was not how he intended this evening to go.
“I…” And for the first time since you met his acquaintance, Gale is at a loss for words.
“Please don't go. I would risk death a thousand times over if it always meant one more night with you.” Tears are freely falling from your eyes. You are desperate. You can feel him slipping away from you. “Don't go. We can find another way.”
“I don't know what else there is to do.”
“Nor do I, but I know this is not the answer.”
“If you knew the end was near, would you not want to ensure it had meaning? I am… terrified. I will not claim otherwise. My face could scarcely conceal it, even if my words sought to deny it.” He pauses for a moment and inhales a shaking breath before continuing: “There is no point in running from the inevitable. Better to meet it—on my own terms.”
“And what of me?” The shock on his face is evident, and his confusion is even more so. “You say you love me. Show me. Stay and show me."
In an instant, something lifts; clarity falls upon Gale’s shoulders as he watches tears streaming down your cheeks. Mystra’s forgiveness is not guaranteed, but he is almost able to believe that your love is a far greater purpose than absolution from a Goddess who forsook him in his most dire time of need. Perhaps you—a living, breathing deity made of nothing more than flesh and blood and infinite flaws but pure perfection nonetheless—are a far greater purpose than anything he ever believed he could be afforded.
It takes a moment for his words to return to him: “One moment with you could sate me for a lifetime and prise the fear from my heart.” He appears almost solemn in his confession. “I know this is all unreal, but I created it for you. You must know that you're… You're very special to me.”
“Surely you know—”
“If things were different..." He almost seems to be unaware of you speaking, completely drowning in his mind. “If we were home, I’d have taken the time to do this properly. To say it all better, but time is short… I’m in love with you.” Fireflies dance around your bodies as you dry the tears from your cheeks. You cannot help but notice the fabricated sky illuminating his skin, doing nothing to conceal the signs of his age, nor does it hide the fear behind his eyes. He is wholly imperfect; wrinkles line his forehead, small patches of gray streak through messy strands of brown hair, his eyes are wet with tears that he forbids to escape, and his hubris, which will damn him to the Hells one day, has left his body brittle, but he is Gale, and he is nothing short of remarkable in your eyes. He is wearing his heart on his sleeve; he is unzipping his chest, showing you what rattles inside of his ribcage, and silently begging you to stitch him back together when the dust settles and…
And he is looking to you for an answer, despite having never asked a question.
“You surely must know my affections are the same.” His eyebrows unfurl and relax at your words, a visible weight taken from his shoulders. “Stay. Stay here, by my side, and show me how special I am. Show me what it is you deem worthy of loving.” For what seems like the one thousandth time, your eyes lock. All traces of doubt, anger, and fear have given way to purely ardent love.
While Gale believes he will spend the rest of his life at war with himself if he chooses to defy Mystra, he knows it will be a life well lived if it is to be spent at your side. Damn Mystra, damn the Gods and Goddesses, damn the entire world; his calling will be found nowhere that is not beside you.
Words, once again, fall from his lips before he knows what they will be: “May I kiss you?”
“As long as it is not a parting kiss.”
“Never.”

Maybe a blurb about Peter freaking out on trying to find a gift for reader for Christmas cause he waited until the last minute and all reader cares about is that he makes it home safe? 👀
that was the worst christmas ever! | peter parker
pairing: peter parker x female!reader
word count: 1.6k
warnings: christmas stress, self-deprecating peter, fluff
a/n: ok so hi! It’s been a while. these last few months have been hectic af– like on another level of hectic. i’m trying to get back a little to writing now that things have calmed down a little bit– so this is me dipping my toe into writing again. i hope there’s someone who’ll like this and merry christmas if you celebrate <3 (btw the title isn’t really connected to the story but gold star to the people who recognize the song)
main masterlist / ao3
Tumblr media
Slow. Sweaty. Loud.
The buzzing of humming conversations. People’s winter shoes clacking obnoxiously against the tile floor. A distant ‘Ho-Ho-Ho’ from the creepy mall Santa, slapping the thigh of some poor little girl screaming for ‘Mommy’ as the camera flashed with saved memories.
The guilt gnawed at the back of Peter’s neck as he hurried from store to store.
“Sorry, that’s out of stock.”
“If it’s not on the shelf, we don’t have it.”
With every no, Peter’s guilt was starting to mix with panic. His winter jacket was too hot, suffocating him like the thought of you tomorrow morning with no present from him to unpack. He knows he fucked up. Who in their right mind buys his girlfriend her Christmas present on Christmas Eve?
Peter Parker– that’s who.
He didn’t intend to leave it to the last minute – it just happened! He swears!
With a sigh and a shaky hand running over his face, Peter fished out his phone from his pocket. Entering the notes app, he felt his stomach start to turn. Reading over your wish list, he scrolled to the bottom where he hovered his thumb over the red x emoji. Ready to mark himself a boyfriend failure.
Suddenly, his phone came alive in his hands. A picture of your smiling face lighting it up. Guilt’s teeth scratched harder at his neck as he pushed the little green button.
“Hi baby!” Peter greeted, a fake smile spreading over his face even though you couldn’t see him.
“Oh, thank god! Peter– where are you? We’re leaving for your Aunt May’s in half an hour.”
Peter could hear the worry in your tone. He couldn’t help but hear it every time you called. A worry that he wouldn’t answer because something had happened. That he was lying in the street somewhere bleeding out.
Peter squeezed his eyes shut while a hand came up to pinch the bridge of his nose. “Yes,” he nodded to no one, “I know! I’m-I’m on patrol and I lost track of time– But I’m heading back now.”
“Peter,” you sighed down the phone. Peter stayed quiet, just listening to your breathing. He knew you worried about him – how could you not? You had every right to worry.
When you didn’t say anything, Peter drew a shallow breath, “I know– I’m sorry.” And he meant it – he always meant it – even when it felt like ‘Sorry’ was the word he told you more often than ‘I love you’.
“Peter– It’s okay… It’s okay just– just please hurry home.”
“I love you,” he hurried. A band aid over his bullet wound of disappointing you.
“I know– I love you too, Peter.”
Hot air washed over him as he exited through the revolving door of the mall. Out on the street he didn’t linger long. Busy New Yorkers hurried past him, splashing wet snow with every step. Digging his hands in his pocket, Peter made his way down the avenue while the wind bit at his cheeks.
Tumblr media
Aunt May’s hugs were Peter’s favorite. The way she squeezed him just a little too tight, the smell of her signature perfume she’d worn since forever, and the wet kiss placed on his cheek. A few years ago, he’d playfully groaned and rubbed the kiss from his cheek with a roll of his eyes, but now as a twenty-something, he embraced them.
You were late, and it was Peter’s fault, but Aunt May didn’t seem to mind. The apartment looked the same as it did the last time he was here, sans the Christmas decorations and the smell of… cooking? Peter couldn’t believe his own nose as he snuck sneakily into the kitchen, leaving you and Aunt May in the hallway to catch up.
“May! Don’t tell me you actually cooked,” he called out with a disbelieving laugh.
Soon he could hear footsteps approaching before Aunt May passed through the doorway with you in tow. Peter caught your eye. Those kind eyes he always got lost in. He forgot to breath for a second. After three years together, you still managed to steal his breath.
“Damn right I’ve cooked,” Aunt May replied, a teasing lilt to her tone, “Don’t sound so surprised, Peter.”
“I’m not surprised– I’m impressed,” he teased, lifting the lid of one of the simmering pots.
A teasing pinch to his side made him yelp as Aunt May shooed him away from her stove.
Your sweet giggle filled the kitchen and Peter’s heart. He turned his head sheepishly to look at you where you were leaning against the door frame. An overwhelming urge to touch you came over him. You’d dressed up a little, it being Christmas Eve and all, and Peter thought you looked so pretty. Walking over to you he wrapped his arm around your shoulder. You looked at him with a smile, one that felt warm around his heart.
“Hi, rude boy,” you teased.
Knitting his eyebrows together he gave you his best fake-offended look, “Hey.”
Your only response was that same sweet giggle he loved to hear. Your eyes were soft, with smiling crinkles around your eyes. He loved when you looked at him like that– so much that he couldn’t help but press a soft kiss to your lips. It was short (to spare Aunt May of your PDA), but still tender. When he leaned back to look at you again your smile had grown even wider.
Aunt May’s dinner was surprisingly good. She’d been diligently watching some cooking show every night and gotten inspired to try to start cooking– for real. So, the dinner was great. The laughter hung in the air the whole night, making Peter almost forget about his earlier failure and nagging guilt.
While getting ready for bed, an idea popped into Peter’s head. He finished brushing his teeth in record speed, spitting harshly in the sink.
“Ew,” you mumbled through toothpaste, “Ook at that ig blob,” you pointed to the toothpaste he’d spat out that stuck to the porcelain. He locked eyes with you in the mirror – your teasing smile through the swipe of your toothbrush.
“Shut up,” he laughed and bumped his hip against yours before wiping the toothpaste away with his finger.
“Just making sure you’re not leaving poor Aunt May to clean up your mess,” you winked after spitting out your own toothpaste.
Sneaking away was the hardest part. You loved to snuggle before bed, never able to fall asleep until you’d laid in his arms and talked for at least half an hour. But Peter was patient – even if his eyelids felt heavier than the train he’d stopped that one time. When he started to hear your breathing start to get heavier and those small noises you always made escaped you; Peter crawled as gently as he could out of bed.
The living room of Aunt May’s apartment was bathed in a soft yellow glow coming from the Christmas tree in the corner. A strange forgotten feeling of the past clouded Peter for a moment. Memories of waking up in the middle of the night to sneak into the living room to see if Santa had come pushed their way to the forefront of his mind. This time though, he had to make sure Santa had left some presents for someone else.
Tumblr media
“Who’s next?” Aunt May asked.
Outside a Christmas miracle was falling from the sky shaped as heavy white snowflakes.
“I have no presents left,” Peter said from where he sat at the edge of the lounge chair, his Christmas presents taking up most of the space.
“I have one left,” you said from where you sat pretty on the floor. The plaid pajamas adorning your body matched ones he was wearing. Peter watched with a bated breath as you picked up the homemade envelope.
“To my baby, from Peter,” you read his chicken scratch.
“Aw,” Aunt May cooed from the couch.
Peter had to fight the urge to cringe as he watched you open the envelope. His heart drummed in his chest, and it made him feel ridiculous. Digging your hands into the envelope you pulled out a handful of small paper squares. Watching your eyebrows knit together in confusion, Peter pressed his lips harder together.
“What’s this?” you asked, curious hands picking up a paper square to read. “Oh!” you laughed, slightly embarrassed but still sending Peter a mischievous smile.
“What is it?” Aunt May asked.
“It’s…” you laughed again, eyes dancing over the paper squares.
Curiosity killed the kat – or in this case Aunt May – as she leaned forward to snatch a paper square to read. You jumped at her movements before you chased after her.
“No, May,” you pressed, managing to steal the paper before she could read it, “Read this one instead!” You handed her another paper square before sending Peter a chastising but grateful look.
“Oh, it’s love coupons!” May exclaimed, “That’s such a good gift idea, Peter! So thoughtful of you.’1 movie night where you pick the movie’,” May read loudly from the paper coupon.
Dropping all the coupons back into the envelope, you stood to your feet and made your way over to Peter. You cupped his head in your hands and tilted his head to look up at you. Then you leaned down to press a soft kiss to his lips.
“Thank you, Peter,” you said against his lips before placing another kiss to his lips.
“You liked them?” he asked with uncertainty.
You just smiled before you gave him a nod, “I loved them,” you clarified and sealed it with another kiss. When you broke away you wrapped your arms around him to pull him in for a hug. A relieving warmth spread throughout his chest as he nuzzled his face in your neck. He felt you press a tender kiss to the spot behind his ear that made him weak.
“Can’t wait to cash them in,” you whispered in his ear, “Especially the ones who’ll put you on Santa’s naughty list.”

A Beautiful Distraction | Ksm
Tumblr media
Pairing: Seungmin x Reader
Word Count: 800
Warnings: fluff, mildly suggestive, language
✎A/N✎: Just some more 2 am musings because Kim Seungmin really is so pretty it’s distracting. I can’t be the only one.

Tumblr media
Seungmin pursed his beautiful pink lips into a thin line, blinking slowly, and you were a goner. The next sentences he spoke to Han were lost on you.
You watched the two men talk animatedly in front of the computer in the small studio, and you were one thousand percent distracted. Kim Seungmin was a beautiful distraction.
His soft, plump lips were the best distraction in the world, or worst, depending on the situation. As you watched his mouth move fluently, you could feel the memory of your last kiss lingering sweetly on your lips. You couldn't help but reach up and brush your bottom lip softly as it tingled pleasantly from the thought that you could kiss him any time you wanted.
He’d loved you from the moment he met you all those years ago during your training days. It didn’t matter what was happening, he never failed to put a smile on your face and he couldn’t take his big boba eyes off you. He didn’t always tell you in words that he loved you, but he always showed you.
Your gaze drifted to his cute little nose that he liked to scrunch up when he was slightly embarrassed or just acting cute. You were reminded of the way it felt when he kissed you tenderly, his nose nudging against yours sweetly especially when he deepened a kiss and pressed closer to you.
You watched as his big brown boba eyes flitted back and forth excitedly, his hands waving around wildly, practically stopping your heart, as he brain stormed with Han about the song they were working on. You were pretty sure it was called respirator, but frankly you were the one who was gonna need a respirator because fuck if Kim Seungmin didn’t take your breath away. Seeing him in this creative space with Han who really pushed him to do his best work was nothing short of beautiful. It really was breathtaking.
Then those beautiful eyes of his were on you. His eyebrows lifting gently as he assessed you with a smile, a small chuckle escaping him as his eyes settled on your dazed look.
“That’s a good line, yeah?” Seungmin asked with a mischievous smirk, fully aware of where your mind had been wondering.
You blinked rapidly as the rest of him came into focus, his words pulling you from the haze his face had dragged you into.
“Yeah,” you cleared your throat. “Best line you’ve written so far,” you smiled confidently.
Both boys burst into a chorus of laughter. Seungmin scooted back in his chair and leaned over to where you were seated on the couch and pressed his soft lips against yours.
“Yeah, we weren’t even talking about the lyrics you little liar,” he laughed against your mouth, his eyes locking with yours.
You kissed him again, his taste intoxicating. Each curve of his mouth against yours made you wish you could do nothing but kiss him for the rest of time.
“You’re pretty. It’s distracting,” you said with a shrug.
“I don’t know how you manage,” Seungmin teased, a confident smirk spreading across his face.
You shoved him away with a small huff and a laugh.
“Moment over,” you chuckled, attempting to move away from him.
He dove after you, pinning you against the couch with his hips, pressing himself into you before dipping down and peppering your face with kisses over and over again.
“Beautiful,” he mumbled between kisses, completely lost in you.
Finally his lips found yours and your hands stretched out for him, the pads of your fingers dancing along the nap of his neck, fiddling with the long blonde hair that now lay there, as you sighed into him.
“Thought the moment was over,” he whispered as he moved his assault to your neck, trailing hot, wet kisses along the tender expanse of skin behind your ear and down to your collarbone.
“You win,” you conceded with a low moan, arching into his touch. The way his lips felt against your skin was enough to make your head spin.
Seungmin’s hands danced under your shirt, the gentle ghosting touch from his long, slender fingers setting your skin on fire.
“Wait!” you breathed, catching his thin wrist in your small hand, stopping his hand from moving up further. “Han,” you reminded him as you sat up and looked around the now empty studio. Han was nowhere to be found.
“Good man,” Seungmin chuckled, kissing you deeply once more, his tongue finding yours as a small moan escaped him. “He knows when he’s not needed,” he growled reaching over and clicking the lock before pushing your shirt over your head, a low rumble of appreciation escaping his throat as his eyes fell on your bare chest. The sound vibrated through your body, leaving you hot and needy.
“Mmmhmm,” you agreed as Seungmin grabbed the neck of his white cotton t-shirt and pulled it easily over his head. You reached out to run your fingers over his chest, heat pooling low in your gut as your fingers danced up to his shoulders and pulled him down so that his hot skin was pressed against yours . “You’re all I’ll ever need, Seungie,” you sighed, bringing his lips to yours once more.
Kim Seungmin was the best damn distraction you’d ever encountered and god if you didn’t love him for it.

✧ dedicated to that one anon that made me feel so happy about the siren kas au again!! also thank you mea for beta-reading this for me you are a lifesaver!! going to tag @xenon-demon and @chaoticlovingdreamer because i know you both were interested in this idea hope it's cool to tag you!! ✧
The first time it happens, it's not a big deal.
They were on their way to start a supply run, some small groceries, snacks and sweets, to try and keep the mood up.
He had already done his rounds, checked in on El (still exhausted) and Dustin (still sleeping with his head on his mom's lap; she's still wiping her tears away when Steve sees her) and the Byers (still huddled together, warm, loving). He felt a twinge in his chest at the absence of Lucas and Erica but he knows they're with their parents because they did a check-in literally ten minutes ago. They're safe.
Steve knows they're safe. He just wishes they felt safe.
A whole month of fear and caution but this time, instead of a couple of kids sharing glances across town, nodding and walking on, it's everyone in Hawkins, gawking up at the dark clouds without any idea of what's been happening under their noses for years.
He wishes they never had to find out.
"Hey," Robin says, grasping his hand as she steps out onto the doorstep next to him. "We got this, right?"
"Yeah," Steve grips her hand back, stroking his thumb over the ink doodles across her knuckles. Sometimes he thinks the only reason they'll make it is that he's got her by his side. "We got this."
She smiles a thin, watery smile, lifts up her mask and makes her way to the car. He inhales, covers his nose with the black bandana Dustin gave him and follows behind her, gripping at the cold, empty space in his palm.
The forest was always one of the worst parts of living in this house, but the darkness has turned it ashy and cold, like something out of a zombie movie. He wonders, as he stares through the trees, if Barb got to see the forest before she was pulled through.
That's when he hears the music.
An echo of a guitar strumming. It's faint, the sound warbling as the guitar gets tuned and re-tuned every few strums.
It's so quiet, he thinks, so why does it sound so close?
"Steve?" Robin calls out, her eyes as wide and beautiful and terrified as ever under her goggles. She stands next to his car, one hand tapping the hood nervously. "You ready?"
Steve blinks and shakes his head, the echo of the guitar fading away as he twirls his keys around his finger. "Ready."
Probably just someone playing around on the radio or something, he reasons as he starts the engine.
No big deal.
Tumblr media
Two days later and everyone is in the living room.
Everyone meaning literally everyone, even fucking Mrs Wheeler, all to discuss shelter for the families who lost their houses in the earthquake.
Steve's house is already full of most of the Party (Dustin insisted they use the name for the entire Upside-Down-Expert-Team), otherwise he'd offer it as a place for people to stay in until they can get something more permanent.
That's all this place is good for anyways. Just a rest stop.
"I appreciate that, Mom." Nancy taps her finger on the dining table, eyes squinting and lips squeezed into a very fake smile. Steve winces and starts to make his way to the sun room, gripping the blankets in his arms tightly as she continues. "But some of these people need -"
It's pretty easy to tune the discussion out, focusing on laying out the blankets and making as much of the space as comfortable as possible. The big windows let so much sunlight in, it's perfect for anyone who wants to soak up in the warmth. The only problem is the view.
He pointedly doesn't look at the pool, hands on his hips as he surveys the room, and that's when he starts to hear the guitar again. The strumming starts up quietly and washes over him, re-tuning itself every time he starts to rearrange the blankets again. A few minutes of tuning and it starts to play a song this time.
Steve tilts his head, staring out at the pool. Someone must have switched on the lights when it started getting dark.
When did it get so dark? He should go back and check on everyone, make sure they're comfortable. Is there enough space? Maybe he should redo the blankets?
The song soaks the back of his neck.
The blankets are perfect. He and Robin just can share.
It's so familiar, he thinks, as the water ripples with the wind. Something he's heard, but not listened to.
There shouldn't be any water in the pool. Why is there -
The song is slow, coiling behind his ear and gently drifting down his shoulders, making him shiver. He thinks he should know the music, humming along to it as the guitar starts to get louder. It feels nice, a comforting chill down his back that eases the tension of his wounds.
His wounds. Robin. Robin, his bat bites still hurt, why does it hurt so much, what's -
Oh, he thinks as the music plays even louder in his ear, in his mind, that's not the radio.
"Steve!"
Robin is crying, hands crushing his jaw, her face blocking the view of the empty pool. The music is gone.
"Steve, please!"
"Rob?" he croaks, swallowing the dryness of his tongue. His head feels flooded with a fuzziness, blood rushing through his veins like it was moving too slowly before. He blinks when he realizes they're outside now, standing between the pool and the house. It's still daylight. "What -?"
She pulls him into a hug, and he struggles, but manages to wrap his own arms around her, if kinda slowly. "You just - you weren't saying anything and started walking to the pool and I couldn't stop you -"
"Steve," Nancy says somewhere to his left. He barely manages to lift his head to look at her, blue eyes sharp and a Walkman held tightly in her hand. "What did you see?"
The fuzziness is fading away but his brain is still moving through a fog to connect words together. "I heard music."
Robin's face is in front of his again, eyes wide and beautiful and terrified. Oh, Robbie. "Vecna uses music now?"
"Not Vecna." Steve wrinkles his nose. "It...wasn't Vecna."
"How do you know that?" Nancy squints at him and he rests his forehead against Robin's, his bones melting into stone, too heavy to hold up. He hears the creak of the Walkman, Nancy gripping it tighter. "Steve, how do you know it's not Vecna?"
"Music w's nice." His eyes are closing. "Felt nice."
Tumblr media
After that, the plan was never leave Steve alone.
It made bathroom breaks awkward but Argyle was so chill about it that Steve didn't even mind after the first two trips.
El couldn't find anything Upside-Downy on him, and there was the entire town with Upside-Downy shit happening everywhere, so there wasn't really much more to the plan than him having a bodyguard.
They made a chart for their shifts. God, he loves these shitheads.
"Here, man," Argyle says quietly, handing over three slices of pizza with a wink. Steve thanks him with a real, if exhausted, smile. Sleep hasn't been easy for the past week. "Fresh outta the oven."
"You're a godsend, dude," Steve groans, blowing air on the pizza slice. Mike grumbles under his breath about "hair-bias", whatever the fuck that means. Erica just rolls her eyes and shoves at his head.
The Sinclairs are visiting today, the parents persuaded by Lucas and Erica's whining (and a little bit of Steve's charm) so they can spend more time at "home base" with the others.
They're sat in the living room, eating lunch as rays of sunlight shine on the food like some kind of holy blessing, with the rest of the Party.
The rest of the survivors would be more accurate.
He tries not thinking about it, tries to appreciate the warm cheese and loud laughter. There's too much to not think about. How Max isn't here, how she deserves more, how he wants to see her okay and alive and happy.
Eddie isn't here either, and he doesn't think about how much he deserved better too.
"Steve thought it was cool! Right, Steve?"
He wishes Eddie could have made it, that Dustin didn't have to lose him like that.
Hell, they could have been friends. Maybe buried the hatchet so they could make fun of Dustin together, catch each other's eye whenever the tone makes an appearance and just laugh whenever he wasn't looking.
"I said, right, Steve?"
Maybe they could have hung out. Steve would come over to his trailer - or maybe Eddie would come over for a swim - and he'd make fun of Eddie's taste in bands - or maybe he'd listen to him play his guitar, never looking away from those ringed fingers as they created wonderful, wonderful music.
"Dude?"
Oh shit, the music is back. That's probably not good, is it?
But it's so sweet. So calming and cool, like a balm against his torn skin, washing over the dark feelings that built up in his ribcage.
"Steve!"
The song ripples through his veins and he sighs at the feeling. The pool doesn't have water anymore, he thinks. He emptied it so long ago. The music is sad, and his heart clenches at the sound.
The lake has water, he thinks. And the song turns light, sweet, calling him, curling around him, pulling him towards -
"Sorry about this, dude."
"Fuck!" Steve gasps when he hits the ground, groaning as his back ache returns at full force. "What the fuck, man?"
To his credit, Argyle looks genuinely sorry and helps him back onto his feet, holding Steve up with a tight arm around his waist and a tighter grip on his wrist. His shoulder aches at being thrown over Argyle's neck but walking is a lot easier when someone else is carrying half the weight.
He feels so heavy now.
"What - happened?" Steve croaks as they hobble back to the house. When did he leave it?
"You just got up and you weren't -" Dustin swallows, his voice croaky like he'd been yelling. "It's like you weren't even there."
"God, you can't keep doing this, Steve," Robin smacks his shoulder with a tight smile, tears still unshed in her eyes. His chest aches at them. "How many times are you gonna walk out on me?"
"Sorry Robbie," he says and accepts her very tight ow, ow, ow hug with a sad laugh. "I don't know what's going on."
"Was it the music again?" Will asks quietly.
Steve looks at him, leaning his head against Robin's. When did he get so tall? When did they all grow up already? "Yeah," Steve replies, just as quiet. He swallows when Robin lets out a sob into his shoulder. "It was the same song."
Tumblr media
By the time his brain is fully functional ("Debatable," Mike sneers, crying out when El smacks him up the head), everyone's already discussing the new plan.
"We'll need to make notes, figure out the pattern, see if there're any triggers for Steve." Nancy said and he tries not to let it get to him, the fact that he needs babysitting now, that he can't do anything without being watched. "If the music makes people feel...good, it could still be a whole new tactic. Maybe Vecna wants our guard down, maybe he's countering our favourite songs, maybe it's a distraction. We have to be ready."
Steve still wants to grumble that it could never be Vecna, that's insulting, but he's too tired to argue about anything anymore.
They've even rearranged who sleeps where so that the Sinclairs can sleep over. They take one of the guest rooms while Mrs Henderson and Dustin join Steve in his own room. He almost loses his mind cackling when the both of them eye his wallpaper with the same mix of disgust and fascination. When Mrs Henderson sees the curtains, she almost gags and it's the loudest he's laughed in a long time.
"You're gonna be okay," Dustin tells him right before they fall asleep. Steve looks up at him from the floor where he lays, couch pillows doing more for his back than training against monsters ever did. "You'll be fine."
"'Course I will, dude," Steve smiles at him as Mrs Henderson leaves the room to talk to Hopper one last time. Tews is curled up on the bed, purrs loud, almost melodic, and lulling Steve's thoughts into a calm. "If the giant flesh monster couldn't get us, no way some wrinkly old naked guy will."
Dustin laughs outrageously at that and Steve wants to coo, wants to cry, wants to grip Dustin tightly in his arms and hide him away from the world, hide them all away in this empty house and make it full, make it safe for them, for Max, for Robin.
He doesn't.
He eventually falls asleep to the sound of Dustin muttering under his breath. And when Steve sleeps, he dreams.
It's so cold around him, so dark and empty. The sky thunders red and the cries of so many monsters echo around him. But there, through the cold and the shadows and the monsters, there's the song, calling to him.
I'm here, he thinks as he trudges his way through the inky mass of thick liquid, not water, not blood, but enough of both to make his steps heavy. I'm coming.
The song curls up on his skin, on his bat bites, soft and sweet and cold, like that time Robin spilled ice cream all over the -
"Steve!"
Robin. Where's - where's Robin?
Shh, it's okay. She's fine. Everyone's fine. Keep going.
Oh, he thinks. Of course. Everyone's okay, he knows they are, right?
Steve pauses his next step.
Right?
The song is even lonelier now and he shakes off the questions clouding his mind. It croons to him, so happy as he makes it through the ink to the shore. It sounds so sweet, that's it, keep going, come on.
He's crawling at this point, body heavy with the weight, until the song lifts him up onto his knees and he looks up to see -
"Snap out of it!"
Steve gasps at the sting on his cheek, blinking when light hits his eyes fiercely, shapes and sounds moving around him from a distance. There's a buzzing coiling behind his ears.
"Steve?"
Dustin's terrified face finally comes into focus behind his mother, who is standing right in front of Steve with her arm stretched across the space between them. Steve blinks, "Hold on, did you just slap me?"
"I'm so sorry, Steve," Mrs Henderson says and just like Argyle, she seems to really mean it. Does she? Her outstretched hand rests on his forehead as the other grips his upper arm. His back aches. His torso burns. Where did the song go? "We were so scared, you weren't saying anything -"
"I didn't hurt you, did I?" Would never, of course not, just needed to keep going.
They both deny it vehemently. "Of course not! You were just - staring. Out the window. At -"
"At the pool," Steve hisses, biting his lip.
"Yeah," Dustin breathes out, his eyes watering as he reaches out to grab Steve's wrist. "But you're - you're back now. We just - just need to slap you out of it. What's another concussion, right?"
Steve laughs because Dustin's voice is so choked up that if he doesn't laugh, he'll cry. He ruffles the curls of his hair with a smile. A sinking feeling claws at him from the inside of his stomach. Can't he listen to the song one more time?
"Steve?"
"Yeah, I'm here, I'm -" Steve swallows as the blood in his veins prickles. Won't you hear me one more time? "I - I don't want to listen. I won't."
"Can you still hear it?!"
Please? It would make us so happy, Steve.
"I - no, no, I -"
"Steve?! Guys! Code red, code red, please!"
Please, Steve. Please?
"Okay," he says, eyes drooping as the melody curls up around his waist, brushing against the inside of his skin, pooling around his chest, thrumming in time with his heart beat. It feels so sweet, so good, thank you, come here, come here. "Okay."
"El, do something, please!"
The song turns harsh, gnawing on his bones, piercing through his skull, pushing him to the ground as someone is interrupting, no interruptions, leave us alone, alone, alone. The pain builds up crawling and clawing up  to his chest to his shoulders to his head, his head, it hurts, it hurts so much, please stop, just stop. "Fuck, fuck -"
"Steve?" Dustin whimpers and he aches, he aches, he aches.
He screams.
Tumblr media
When he wakes up, it's to dawn creeping through the windows and rope around his body.
Red sunlight, just like in Mike's Superman comic books, covered by dark clouds.
A red sun to the blue moon. Right side up to the upside down. You to me.
"Whe -" Steve croaks, his eyes creaking open. Fuck, they're so crusty, that's gross. "Where?"
"Steve!"
Robin's face in front of his, beautiful and terrified. He squints up at her, glancing over to find Dustin and Lucas staring at him with wide eyes, Hopper behind them. They watch him and they nod. Others are coming in, Mrs Byers and Jonathan and Nancy -
Steve hisses as something claws through him for the fourth time that night, pain, pain, go away, go away -
"Shit, shit, shit, everyone get in position, -"
"Will, get over here, he's gonna -"
Come here, come on, please? Won't you come back?
"Where are you?" Steve murmurs as the pain turns into the music, gliding over him, like a wave coming to shore, pulling him back to the water, back to us.
"He's talking to the siren! Somebody get -"
Come here, come back, come to me.
"Can't find you," he says, slurring his words as the song combs through his hair, like fingers scratching against his scalp. "Where're you?"
"That's it, Steve, keep talking, we got you -"
Want you here, with us, want us together, don't you?
"Yeah, yes, together," he sighs, the melody trilling in his chest, happy, sweet, soft, perfect, it'll be perfect, together, all together, just before someone reaches for his hand
He hisses and the song pulls away roughly, leaving him floating in the void, he cries out for it to come back, but he betrayed them, shouldn't have done that, Stevie, you tried to trick us -
"Shit!" Steve drops back to the bed with lead in his bones. El is still holding his hand. He was so close, the connection just barely at his fingertips.
Dustin swears as the others start to argue. The frustration is building up in the room, everyone too tense to think about answers, you sly dog, that was clever, but we don't like traitors -
"Wait, no," Steve gasps as something claws in his wounds, amused, you tried to trick me? Fine, no more playing around. "Fuck, wait -"
And the song crashes into the shore, pulls him down under where everything is sweet and cold, right back where you belong.
Tumblr media
It's so warm out here, between the trees.
The skin on his back was blistering, biting at his flesh, before the song had gently cooled it down. He shivers at the chill, smiling when the song pulls him forward, looping around him with a sweet hum. It feels so nice, to hear the song without any distractions.
Without any interruptions.
Keep going.
Steve sighs when the song runs through his hair, laughing when it musses it all up. His hand twitches, he wants to fix it up until it's perfect again.
Keep going.
There are noises behind him, the sound of running and metal-on-flesh. It's all so slow, even slower than him. He doesn't know what's behind him, just the dark and gentle song pulling at his veins.
Keep going.
He makes it to the water, to the lake. There is no moonlight, but the song guides his steps, keeps him light. How sweet, he thinks, how sweet of you.
He makes it until his waist is plunged in the frigid water and then the song stops. He looks around but can't see anything in the shadows. There are sounds of humans yelling, of monstrous shrieks behind him, but where is the song?
"Hey."
He looks up and sees crimson eyes, half-lidded, and a smile staring down at him. Massive black wings blow gusts of wind at him. He shivers, and gives a smile in return.
His song.
The wings slow down until big, red eyes are level with his own, curls of black falling with gravity to brush against his cheek. The song hums in his chest, satisfied, delighted and sweet.
"Miss me, big boy?"

All Y/N ever wanted to do was sing her songs and be free. Yet somehow, after offering to pay for the meal of a certain boy in a straw hat she finds herself causing havoc through the East Blue.
Masterlist - Next.

Trigger warning: Harassment, canon violence. Word count: 8K
A/N: The only thing I will be describing about Y/N is her hair colour. Everything else you can imagine her as you wish.
Disclaimer: The songs I will be using in this fic aren't mine bc I have 0 creativity. I'm sorry.

Shells Town, 153 Marine Branch.
Y/N, huffing and puffing, speeds walk through the townspeople, she was late for her shift at Food Foo and all because of that absolute idiot.
That little fucking weasel, he is. Ugh!!! just thinking about it makes her blood boil even more. Whatever, it’s her own fault, she should have known better than to get close to Cygnus or any man really.
She scoffs to herself. ‘She’s no good’ As if he was any better. Both of them had their own things, their own faults, Y/Nthought that was part of why they connected in the first place but it seems she was mistaken. And Y/N would have believed that was his reason for 'dumping' her but she has heard the rumours. She has heard the whispers of him charming up the daughter of one of the lieutenants...
It doesn’t matter anyway, she has been in Shells town for about 6 months now, and she should probably leave soon.
When she finally arrives at Food Fo, Y/N sends Ayana a guilty look when the owner of the restaurant sends her the ‘warning’ look.
Y/N didn’t wait for her to start scolding her, she quickly walked behind the counter, left her guitar there and grabbed her apron, wrapping it around herself and muttering as she did. “I know I know. I’m sorry, Ayana,”
“At least you're here. It seems today is going to be a busy day,” the woman said from the bar, nodding at the plenty of marines, most already falling in their cups.
“Lovely,” Said Y/N with no enthusiasm.
The Marines are the worst. The very fucking worst, they are vile and foul.
Ayana hums in agreement as a cook passes a platter of dumplings, she takes it and then passes it to Y/N before pointing at the table on the back. “Table 5, then take these drinks to 11.”
“Got it,” Y/N nods and quickly makes her way to it, smiling at the customers, a couple, charmingly. “A plate of dumplings for you, a couple of peanuts. Let me know if you need anything else, okay?”
With that, she left to take the drinks to table 11 whilst greeting her coworkers with a smile as she walked past them. Hours pass and Y/N continues her shift, ignoring the shameless flirting and other hiccups…
“Here are your pork chops and Oden Soup, and not to be biased but our Oden Soup is the best in the whole town,” Y/N said as she softly laid the plate on the table before smiling at the couple and parroting, “Okay, let me know if there’s anything else I can help with, okay?”
“Yeah, thanks,” said the guy.
“I wasn’t aware they hire about any skank from the streets,” the girl says under her breath before glaring up at Y/N.
“Bree!!” The boyfriend looks at his girlfriend With exasperation.
The girl, scoffs crossing her arms, “What? Don’t tell me you didn’t notice the way she’s parading herself around? Everyone here notices it,”
“Bree, please can you not?”
“Can I not what, Laurent? Can I not call her out for her attitude, huh? Why are you defending her?”
Y/N purses her lips, holding back the words that want to escape her lips and takes a couple of steps back, “I’m going to go now…”
“Yeah, you do that,” sharply said the girl, once again her narrow eyes on Y/N.
The girl simply turns and makes her way back to the bar. She leans against the bar and closes her eyes, a tired sigh leaves her.
“Bad table?” Asks Asimi, one of her many coworkers and friends.
Y/N shrugs turning to her, “Nothing unusual, but today has not been my day…”
“I’ll switch mine with yours,” said Rei, another waitress, as she passed a new order to the cook. “I have the most entitled Marines right now, they had me return their meals 3 times already because it's just 'not like what they’re used to' like one would think they got their swords stuck up their ass or something,”
Y/N and Asimi laugh.
“I’m being serious, Y/N, switch tables with me. They’ll be less dickheads to you thanks to that pretty face of yours.” Rei said pinching Y/N's cheek.
Y/N shakes her head, moving away from the girl's fingers, “Thanks for the compliment babes but I’ll take my chances with the match made in heaven,”
“Worth a shot,”
Ayana places two cups in front of Y/N and points at the group in the back, “Table 3, please Y/NN,”
Y/N takes the cups and walks to the table of Marines. She once again smiles at the men as she sets the drinks down. “Here you are! Two beers for the gentleman’s.”
“Hey sweetheart, can I get another round of sake?” Said an older Marine from the next table to them.
Y/N nods, “Sure thing, sweets, anything else you want?”
“Is a kiss from you on the menu?” Laughs the old Marine earning chuckles from others.
Ugh! Disgusting!
“Not on this one, fortunately for me!” Y/N said as he picked up a few empty cups. “However, If you read the menu closer there’s your captain's number in there somewhere maybe you can call it so he can give you that kiss you want? Hope you don’t mind steel, though,”
The Marines around them laughed and so did the older man, Y/N was slightly relief because there had been instances where the Marines did not enjoy her… sense of humor.
Y/N didn’t wait for a response she simply took the last empty cups and made her way back to the bar. She turns to Ayana “A bottle of sake for table 4”
Ayana nods as she looks for the bottle, and Y/N lets her head fall back. She pressed her hands on her shoulders.
Gods, she hates working. Why does she continue working in this job?
Then, as if on cue, Y/N felt two tiny arms wrapping themselves around her middle. Ah, yes, because she’s a softy…. And money.
“Y/NN!!” Rika, Ayana’s daughter, looks up at her.
“I was wondering when you’ll show up,” Y/N laughed as she leaned down to return the hug. “How was school, Rikis?”
“It was alright,” Rika shrugs stepping back, she grins. “I practised the cup trick you showed me,”
“Did you? Well, in that case, you have no choice but to show me, little miss,” Y/N smiles at the girl, she nudges the girl with her elbow teasingly as Ayana places the bottle of sake on the bar.
“Nooo…” Rika chuckles hiding her face under her hands.
“Rika, go change,” Ayana tells her daughter motioning the door that leads to the kitchens.
“We’ll talk about it,” Y/N takes the green bottle and winks at Rika as she moves to take the sake to the Marines.
A couple of more hours pass and the bar thankfully the customers flow in and out with ease. Y/N was glad that her shift would soon be over so she could finally play with the band.
“Take the orders from 16, Y/NN, then you're off,” Ayana says with a nod at the two boys who had just sat down at a table.
“Right on,”
Y/N makes her way to the two boys, one of them has pinkish hair, and round glasses and the other a dark curls under a straw hat and a red vest.
“Hello guys, welcome to Food Foo!” Y/N smiles at them like she does with all her customers. “Can I get you, handsome gentlemen, some drinks to start before deciding what to order?”
The boy with pink hair turned a shade of deep red, a shade Y/N had never seen very little in her life, it was kind of funny. “Uh… I- I…”
“No need, I want one of everything and a milk, please.” Said the boy with the straw hat, smiling back at Y/N.
Y/N was slightly surprised but nodded nonetheless, “A big appetite you’ve got there sweets.”
“Ah, I just love food,” the boy said, tapping his stomach with a grin.
“Who doesn’t?” Y/N nods, writing on her pad, “Food is the best part of life, I’ll say.”
“Right?!! It’s just amazing,”
Y/N laughed at his excitement, he was like a puppy. He was cute. She then turns to the boy in round glasses, “What can I get you to drink, pretty boy?”
“Uh… a- a water would be nice, thank you,” the bright red was still displaying itself on the boy's cheeks.
“Alright, everything will be ready in a few minutes, boys,” She told them, “If you want anything else, please don’t hesitate to call for me,”
With a last smile she left them. She then went to do a few more rounds, cleaning away the dishes and cups, collecting money and such before she was called to pick up the food for the two boys.
“Alright, here you are!” Y/N places the plates on the table. “One of everything,”
Before she even finished putting the plates on the table the boy in a straw hat was already almost finishing his first plate.
“Thank you,” the boy said, his muffled by the food in his mouth.
The boy with pink hair sends her a small grin, “Thank you, miss.”
“No problem boys, call if you need anything else,”
As she left, she glanced at the clock and let out a sigh of relief. Her shift is over, thank the gods. She walked behind the counter took off her apron and took her guitar before walking through the kitchens, where she greeted the cooks.
“You playing today, Y/NN?” asks Gunny, one of the cooks, offering her a plate of chips.
She grins at him as she takes one chip, “Yeap, and I better see you at least once, dumpling. Even if it's peaking.”
“Y’know I never miss your performances,” said the man returning her grin.
Y/N walks to the back of the bar where there is a small room for employees, to change into her clothes. She put in a bit of makeup, some light colour over her eyes, a bit of pink in her cheeks and painted her lips a soft red shade.
“You look so pretty, Y/NN… can you paint me too?” asks Rika, she had slithered her way into the small room a few minutes ago and was watching her do her makeup.
“Last I did, your Ma wasn't happy about it, Rikis,” Y/N told her looking at the girl through the mirror as she twisted her silver locks in a loose braid. “And considering she's the one I'm renting my room to and my boss, I’d rather not risk it.”
Rika huffs in disappointment, leaning against the wall. “You think one day I'll be as pretty as you?”
“What do you mean?” Y/N smiles at her and pulls Rika to look at herself in the mirror next to her. “You are the prettiest girl I know, Rikis.”
“Really?” asks the young girl.
Y/N stands from the old vanity table and sits the girl on the chair. “You so are, sweet girl,” She takes the girl's hair to pull it on a half-up style. “See? You have the prettiest face, and a pretty smile and pretty eyes… and most importantly a pretty heart."
Rika smiles at herself in the mirror, and a giggle escapes her. Rika was such a good child, so very kind. As she stares, Y/N wonders with longing if she has grown to be kind and nice, she should be a couple of years older than Rika if Y/N recalls correctly…
“Are you going to play a love song?” asks Rika, snapping Y/N out of her train of thought.
Y/N wrinkles her nose and shakes her head, “Don’t think so, Rikis.”
“Why?”
“I’m just not feeling it,”
“How come? Did something happened with Cygnus? Did you broke up with him?” The young girl inquires, her eyes twinkling with intrigued.
Y/N let’s out a chuckle, “You are very noisy, sweet cheeks.”
“I’m just informative,” Rika shrugs innocently.
“Of course, you are.” Y/N scoffs a laugh, she nudges Rika’s shoulder. “Come, let’s go out.”
“Oh, please Y/NN,”
“Nope. How about you go make me something sweet for after the show?”
They walk outside, Rika complaining about Y/N not telling her but the older girl simply ignores her and leaves her near the counter before walking to the bar band.
“Hello, dears, ready for tonight?” Y/N said as she approached the three older gentlemen, they had been letting her play a few songs a night with them since she arrived, always practising new songs on the slow days and late nights.
Duke, the violinist, nods as he takes a large gulp of his beer. “As always, lovey.”
“Never expect any less,” Y/N grins, she moves to the small wooden stage, guitar on hand and her charm full on.
As soon as she did, a few cheers echoed around the bar.
Using a Den Den Mushi, Y/N’s voice rings out through the room, with a charisma and ease that speaks of years of practice. "Why, hello everybody!" she exclaims, gazing at the growing crowd of Marines and civilians. "How’s the day been treating ya lot? Better than me I hope.”
The audience cheers, and Y/N’s smile grows wider and lets out a laugh. “Very good, very good.. but how about a song to better it, aye?”
She launches into her first ballad, her voice rising with the rhythm of her guitar.
“I've been sleepin' in my mind
But now my heart is risin'
Risin' with the tide
Floating on a wave
Buoyed by the sea
Carry me away 'cause the world is not for me”
The crowd claps along, lost in the music and the charm of the girl on stage. It's a moment of pure joy, as Y/N’s voice fills the room with sweet melody and a spirit of celebration.
As she continues her song, Y/N noticed someone in between the crowd, a blonde pain in the ass. It took everything in her not to roll her eyes at the sight of Helmeppo.
Out of everyone, the son of the captain (as he always likes to remind everyone about) was the most spoiled, disrespectful, persistent and annoying guy she had come across in her short years of freedom and best believe she had met some annoying people but no one can compare to the blonde with the bad hair.
No matter how many times Y/N has asked him to fuck off, he simply refuses to. It’s as if he couldn't understand the words that come out of her mouth… honestly, she’s never one for violence but she’s getting to a limit.
“No matter where you land or how far you may fall
You have heart, you have hands
And the highest calling of our lives
Is to find the grace at the very place we stand”
With the final chords of her song, she finishes with a flourish and a cheerful smile. The crowd erupts in applause and cheers, ready for more of Y/N’s enchanting performances.
“How’s that for starters, eh?” Y/N’s chuckles at the cheers.
She gives the crowd a cheeky grin and strums her guitar with an extra dose of gusto. She launches into another lively tune, her fingers dancing across the strings as she belts out the words. The crowd is absolutely hypnotized, swinging their heads and tapping their feet to the beat. Y/N’s energy is contagious, and it's not long before the whole bar is rocking with cheer.
The vibe is electric, and it's clear that Y/N is the star of the show. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long because just as she was making her way to the second verse there was the loud distinguish sound of a sword being drawn and the loud pompous voice of Helmeppo ran through the bar.
“Oh, come on, tough guy. Three swords?”Y/N saw him pointing his sword at a green-headed guy who didn’t seem to care as the spoiled blonde teased. “I only need one.”
Y/N tried to keep going but it was almost impossible when the guy with green hair deflected Helmeppo's attack and easily pushed him down, and soon after, a brawl between five or so marines and the one green-haired guy with… what looked like three swords. The guy fought them with ease, he never even drew any of his swords only using his hands as a defence.
It would have been impressive… if he hadn’t thrown one Marine towards her drummer, knocking him back onto the floor.
“Holy- Stu!!” the band gathered around the man who was under a groaning Marine officer.
When Stu is being helped by the other meme era of the band, Y/N turns to glare at the green-headed guy only to see him grab Helmeppos from the floor and pin him against the bar.
“Don’t kill me, please.” Helmeppos pleads with the guy, showing his true colours. “My father will give you anything you want.”
The green-haired guy asks “Who’s your father?”
“Captain Morgan. He’s in charge of the Marine base.” Whimpers Helmeppos.
“Then he owes me money.”
And with that, the green-haired guy dragged Helmeppos and a sack… of something out of the bar followed by a few other Marines.
“Fuck, am I bleeding?” The voice of the Marine woman. She wasn’t bleeding but there was a big red spot in her head.
Y/N helps the woman up and sits her on a near by stall. “No, you're alright.”
“Hey, Y/NN bring some ice for Stu, looks like he got a bump.” Said Duke.
“Yeah,”
As she made her way to the kitchen, she came across something more interesting… an orange-haired girl taking the uniform off a knocked-out Marine and hiding it under her clothes, nothing subtle about that.
The girl didn’t seem to have noticed Y/N, much to her surprise, until she spoke. “Y’know if you walk out of here with that uniform you’ll get arrested, right?”
The girl jumps up and turns to Y/N. “My boyfriend, he got hurt fighting off the drunk guy, I'm just taking it off to prevent it from getting dirtier.”
Y/N looked down at the middle-aged man with receding hairline and then at the orange-haired girl who was definitely too pretty to be the fallen Marine anything but… she’ll play along.
“Right, well, in that case, let me bring you a bag so you can put it there instead,” Y/N said, she turned to leave but was stopped by the girl. She grabbed her arm and turned her back around.
“I don’t need—“
“Believe me, pumpkin, you do!” Y/N motions to the bar exit which is surrounded by other Marines who seem to have already forgotten about the fight. “And unless you don’t want to get dragged to the cells I’ll recommend you wait for me here and let me bring you a bag, I promise it’s not a trap or anything.”
“That’s exactly what someone who’s planning a trap would say,” the girl with bright blue eyes said, still not letting go of her arm.
Y/N shrugs, “Maybe so, but I don’t have any reason to do that.”
“And you don’t have any reasons to help me either,” the girl replies instantly.
“Ah, but I do,” Y/N got closer to the girl and whispered without breaking eye contact, “Fuck the Marines,”
With that Y/N backs away from the girl's hold and moves to the kitchens. She swiftly takes some ice from the freezer and wraps it around a napkin and then a paper bag. She only hopes the girl actually listens to her.
Why are you helping, you might ask well, Y/N has a history with them beyond her interactions with them in the bar and knows their lack of morals. They are good for nothing and always abuse their power… so, fuck them.
Thankfully, the girl did listen to her. When Y/N went back to her she was met by the sight of a pant-less Marine. “Oh, no honey. You do not want to use his pants.”
“Can’t you just give me the bag and move on?” Said the girl, clearly annoyed.
Y/N sighs as she passes her the paper bag. “Sure but I’ll just say that if you wear his pants you’ll look like a clown.”
“Why do you care what I look?” The girl says ripping the bag out of her hand.
“I’m just helping a girl out, that’s all.” Y/N shrugs glancing at the girl's legs. “Listen, I know it’s none of my business—“
“— you’re right, it’s not.”
“— but whatever is it that you’re planning will be ruined because of a pair of pants. So, if you need some pants that go with that shirt, I might have something that could work for you.”
The girls look at Y/N suspiciously “What do you—“
“Y/N, what’s taking you so long?” Duke shouts earning the girl's attention.
“Yeah, coming,” Y/N turns to the girl with the orange hair, “I’ll be out in about an hour, if you want you can meet me in the fountain just a few houses from here,”
With that Y/N makes her way to the stage and gives the napkin to Stu. “Here! Press it firmly because it seems like you're growing a horn, dear.”
“Quit messing with me, girl!”
After a few more minutes of helping Stu out, it was more than decided he couldn’t play anymore so, they cut the show short. Unfortunately.
So, to kill time, she ordered herself water (Which she dumped a large amount of salt when no one was looking) while listening to Rika theatrically replay what happened with Helmeppos and the guy with green hair, a pirate hunter. It seems Helmeppos finally meet the ass-beating he’s been looking for…. Good.
She should give the guy in green her gratitude.
“And he also said my chocolate cover rice balls were delicious,” Rika blushes.
Y/N chuckles, placing a hand on her head, “Don’t tell me little Rikis has a crush on the pirate hunter,”
Rika blushes even further, she swaps Y/N’s hands off her head. “Stooopppp, Y/NN, it’s not funny,”
“Right, sorry.” Y/N chuckles, and she takes a sip of her salty water. “So, are you going to let me taste those delicious chocolate rice balls or those are only for the hunter?”
“Mom said I can’t do that anymore,” Rika said with a huff of dissatisfaction.
“Shame, I really wanted to try it.” Y/NN pouts.
“I can make you something—“
“You should go home and get ready for school tomorrow,” said Ayana from behind the bar.
“But mom-“
“No, go home, Rika. It’s getting late.”
“Fine,” Rika huffs as she stood up from her seat and turns to Y/N, “Night, Y/NN.”
“Nighty sweet girl,” She said back, waving as the young girl leave.
Y/N sighed taking a sip of her water and looking around the bar, it wasn't her first time working as a waitress but this one bar, she had become accustomed to. It was a nice place, she’s never really appreciated it but it was, people here were friendly, caring, kind… Y/N almost does not wish to leave but she has to, she has to keep moving otherwise the past will soon come knocking banging her door down.
“Y/NN,” calls Ayana, making the girl turn to her. The older woman places an envelope in front of her. “This month's pay plus tips for the performances.”
“Thanks,” Y/N takes the envelope and looks in it. A happy amount of berry…. This should be enough. “Hey, Ayana,”
The woman hums in response as she passes a bottle of rum at a Marine before moving to wipe something off the bar.
“I think it’s time for me to go,”
That made the woman stop and turn to her with a frown. “What? Why?”
“It seems now the time,” Y/N smiles at the woman, “I did tell you I’ll be here temporarily,”
“Yeah but… I thought you’d stay a bit longer, it’s been what two-three months?” Ayana moves to face Y/N.
“Six but y’know what they say, time flies by when you’re having fun,” Y/N grins at the woman who in return rolls her eyes. “But, I do need to leave, Ayana. I’m sorry.”
She regards Y/N for a moment she purses her lips before nodding, “If it can’t be helped, I suppose I let you go.”
“You’ve helped me immensely, I really don’t know how to thank you for all that,” Y/N tells the woman honestly.
“Don’t,” said the woman as another waitress came to give her something, “You’ve been a delight to— what do you mean they won’t pay?”
“I reckon the boy with the straw hat said he’ll come back to pay you once he’s king of the pirates.” Said the waitress.
Ayana huffs, and she shakes her head. “Bring him here because I swear to the all four blue seas today it’s not the day to fuck with me.”
The waitress leaves to bring the poor soul who’s about to get their ass handed today. Ayana scoffs crossing her arms, waiting which she hadn’t had to do for long because the waitress returned not seconds after with two familiar boys in tow. One looking oblivious and the other nervous.
“Hello!” Said the straw hat guy.
Ayana narrows her eyes, “Don’t hello me, you little punk, where’s my money?”
“You see, I don’t have it yet but I promise I’ll come back once I find the one piece to pay you. With interest.”
“The one piece?” Scoffs Ayana, “Who do you think you are, boy?”
“I’m Monkey D. Luffy and I will be king of the pirates.” The boy, Luffy, said with pride and too much conviction that if Y/N didn’t know any better she’d actually believe him.
Ayana shakes her head in disbelief, “Well, Mr future King of the Pirates, unfortunately, I can’t let you leave without paying so either give me the money you practically inhale in food or I’ll have to call the Marines to take you, your Highness.”
“I do need to get inside the base—“ Luffy was cut off by the pink-haired boy.
“No, please, listen is there something we can do to make up for it?” He asks, fidgeting where he stands, obviously nervous under the woman’s gaze.
As Y/N watched the two boys she couldn’t help but chuckle. There was something about this Monkey D. Luffy… he is so unique. So, she decided.
“No need to do anything, pretty boy,” Y/N said earning everyone's attention. She puts a few berry bills on the table. “That must cover it, right?”
“Y/N, you don’t have to pay for them,”
Y/N smiles at Ayana who was frowning back at her. “Call it my last good deed on this bar,”
Ayana huffs, she stares at the Berry before shaking her head. “Keep it, kid, for your travel.”
“No, honestly, Ayana—“
“I won’t hear anything else,” Ayana sighs, massaging he sides of her head as she walks Into the kitchen. “I need a drink,”.
After a moment of silence, as Y/N was reluctantly pulling the Berry back into the envelope Luffy speaks.
“Hey, thanks for that,” he said causing Y/N to turn her head to him.
“No problem, Monkey D. Luffy.” She grins at him.
The pink haired boy walks forward cheeks comically still red, “W-why did you offered to pay for us? It was quite a lot.”
Y/N shrugs, “I’ll scratch your back you’ll scratch mine, right?”
“You want us to scratch your back?” Luffy tilts his head making Y/N laugh.
“No, stud,” Y/N shakes her head as she moves to her feet, she smirks at Luffy placing a hand forward. “However, I do hope you remember my name when you become the King of pirates,”
Luffy takes her hand in his and shakes, “Why don’t you join my crew? We’ll need a musician on board to keep the spirits high, you’ll be perfect.”
Y/N chuckles and shakes her head, “I’ll swallow my own guitar before becoming a pirate,”
“What? Why? Being a pirate is awesome,” asks Luffy, the boy was still shaking her hand.
“Because I have had bad experiences with them, so, I’ll much rather not be part of that life,” Y/N said, looking down at the hands that still shake. “You can let go of me now, stud.”
“Oh, right!” Luffy let’s go of her, “But just because you’ve had bad experience with Pirates doesn’t mean they are all like that, we can be different.”
Y/N smiles and looks behind the boy at the clock in the wall. “Maybe but I’ll rather not find out the bad way again. I’ve to go now, Monkey D. Luffy, it was nice meeting you.”
She turns to the pink hair boy with round glasses “You too…”
“Koby,” the boy informs.
“Koby. It was nice meeting you lot,” Y/N says before moving to the exit, ignoring the cat calls from drunk Marines.
As she walks to the fountain, she can’t helped but scoffs at the thought of her being a pirate out of all things. Pirates took everything from her, in what world would she ever become in the thing that almost destroys her?
“Took you long enough,” The familiar voice makes her head snap up.
Y/N grins as she approaches the girl, “I know, sorry. Would you believe me if I told you I just met the future king of the pirates?
The orange-haired girl scoffs, "Another fool who believes they can find the one piece? Right."
"Ha!" Y/N chuckles, shaking her head. She does share the sentiment. "He seems very determined, perhaps he’ll actually do it, though I doubt it,"
"I'll belive it when I see it," The girl scoffs again, she then seems to sober up to ask Y/N, "So, the pants you mention?"
"Right, they're in my room, it's not ar from here just a few houses down," Y/N tells the girl who narrow her eyes.
"Convenient,"
"You can stay here if you want?" Y/N offers, with a tilt of her head, "I have no problem in getting them for you, pumpkin,"
The girl stares at Y/N for a moment, trying to figure out if she's lying or not. "... Fine, I'll wait."
"I won't be long," Y/N calls as she continues her walk to the space just in between a shoe shop and a gardening store.
As soon as was inside her room, Y/N lit up a few candles to light the small room. She puts her guitar down and goes to the dresser to search for a pair of pants, she did own quite a bit of clothes so it would take her a minute. Ever so often, Y/N comes across the few vials of poison she stacks in her clothed for safety and a few of her modified hand fans reminding her that she has to buy a few more vials just before leaving Shells town.
After another minute she finally found the black pants and was on her way back to the girl with orange hair.
"Here! They should fit,” Y/N said, leaning against the fountain and watching as the girl unfolded the pants and placed them over her legs.
When she was satisfied she nodded before folding it back again, narrowing her eyes at Y/N "Why are you helping me? And don't bullshit me with that fuck the Marines excuse. Even as someone who hates the Marines, you're going out of your way to help, why is that?"
"Is it too hard to belive some people just like to see them burn?" Y/N chuckles, she sighs, stiffing a little as she speaks. “The Marines fucked me over, more than once… I just want to make their life miserable even if just a little,”
“And what do you want? Nothing ever is for free in this life, so tell me. I’ve got berry-“The girl huffs crossing her arms.
“I don’t need Berry,” Y/N interrupts, she shrugged thinking for a moment, “Unless you have a boat I don’t think there’s anything you can give me,”
“Say I do, what do you need a boat for?”
Y/N gazes at her, “A ride to the next town,”
“Fine, be at the docks by 12, and not a minute late or I’ll leave you,” the Orange-haired girl said sternly.
“Deal,” Y/N holds her hand out, “I’m Y/N, by the way.”
“Nami,” she shook her hand once.
Y/N nods with a wink and starts to walk away, “Right, well, good luck tomorrow, Nami. I’ll be thinking about you,”
Y/N thought she saw a smile on Nami but it was gone as soon as it came.
Tumblr media
When morning rolled around, Y/N, with her one bag packed and guitar in hand made her last errands, which included saying her goodbyes to Riki and the employees of Food Foo, it was a teary one but it was better than leaving without saying goodbye. She then needed to get some poison…
There is where everything went to shit.
She needed poison and to get it she had to buy it from Cygnus, unfortunately. Cygnus owns a fish shop in the market street but it was a cover for other more illicit sells.
When she got there Y/N was met with her ex-fling and his new and very hostile victim. Y/N knew who she was, the girl was the daughter of an influential lieutenant of the base, and she like Helmeppos made sure to use it as a threat.
The girl was known for getting people she didn't like in jail for the stupidest things and out of fear most people rather stay out of her way or let her walk all over them.
Y/N, in all honestly, didn't care about her but it seems she should have at least been a bit careful because it wasn't even 10 minutes into the awkward and tense negotiation when she was being dragged to the marine base because the girl started screaming that Y/N was trying to rob them. And for what? Because she told the girl to mind her business after being spoken over once again.
Foolish on her part, because now, she's in Captain Morgan's/Axe hand Morgan’s office when she ought to be waiting for Nami in the docks.
"Trying to rob someone, I heard?" Said Morgan, a large man with a steel jaw. "Didn't think a pretty girl like yourself would commit that petty crime."
Y/N purses her lips, "Because I didn't. Either way, I didn't think the Captain of this entire Marine base would oversee the case of a petty crime, which once again, I didn't commit."
"Only on special circumstances. Take a seat,Y/N," Axe's hand told her, and he motioned with his head to the chair in front of his desk.
Y/N didn't move her gaze from the man with the steel jaw, "I'm okay standing,"
Morgan laughs, "How stubborn of you but I respect it."
His eyes shone with something Y/N had seen many times before and didn't like at all. Desire. Shit, she should’ve known when she was allowed to keep her belongings.
“So, care to tell me why were you attempting to rob the fish shop?” The man asks.
Y/N jaw clutch as she held back an eye roll, “I wasn’t.”
“Then why Kaori accused you of it?” Morgan inquires, his eyebrows shooting up in expectation though, to Y/N it felt as if he was mocking.
“Because she’s insane and a spoiled brat,” snaps Y/N, narrowing her eyes at the older man.
“We’ll, she does has the tendency to exaggerate,” Morgan said as he slowly got up from his seat and made his way around it, “Buy still, it’s her word against yours, a girl that’s been in Shells town for around what? Six months? You see how I can’t simply ignore the statements of my lieutenant’s daughter. However…”
Y/N’s gaze didn’t falter as the man stood in front of her or flinched when his axe hand moved a piece of hair away from her face. It was all very familiar, unfortunately.
“It would be a shame to string you up in the yard… good thing for you I’m willing to come to an agreement that can benefit us… that is if you manage to convince me, pretty girl,”
Y/N glared up at him, her eyes hardening as she prepared to send him away but thankfully for her, before she could, there was a knock on the door.
“I’m busy.” Scowls Axe hand Morgan.
The door opened and a meek Marine girl peeked through. “I-I’m sorry, Captain Morgan but this situation needs your immediate attention.”
Morgan sighs tiredly, he nods at the girl waving his normal hand dismissively. “I’ll be there,”
The Marine girl nods and closes the door, leaving Axe hand to look down at Y/N, “I’ll be back in a minute so we continue where we left off, sweetheart, don’t worry.”
Y/N didn’t respond she simply watched him leave and of course, he locked it behind him.
“Shit,”Y/N sighs, still stiff feeling her heart pound in her chest.
She takes a deep breath, not knowing how much time she has until Morgan comes back, she quickly looks around the very… ugly, self-centred office. No wonder why Helmeppos is the way he is.
Y/Ntried opening the windows with all her might but the damned thing didn’t bulge. She tried the door, despite knowing it was futile. She tried and tried but there was no way out.
When she heard the sound of the keys unlocking the door, Y/N tensed as she reached for her War fans that were hidden into her waistband and waited. It wasn’t until she saw the familiar Orange hair and straw did she let herself calm.
“Nami?”
The girl's eyes widen as she enters the office, “Y/N?”
“Y/N?” Calls Luffy a smile gracing his face as he follows Nami inside the office. “Oh, hey! What are you doing here?”
“Yeah, what are you doing here?” Nami asks, locking the door behind her. “You know him?”
Y/N looks between them, and sighs. “Long story. What are you doing here. Is it part of your plan?”
“We’re here for the map,” Luffy exclaimed excitedly as he looks around the office mumbling “woah, this guy really likes himself.”
“No, I’m going to find the map.” Nami said as she moves near Y/N, where Captain Morgan desk is. “Let’s pretend he’s not here.”
“But I am here.” Luffy says.
“Wait, what map?” Y/N asks looking at Luffy and at Nami who was scooping through Morgan’s things.
“The map to the grand line,” Luffy said, a grin on his face.
Y/N blinks, ignoring the bickering of the two as the information processing. The grand line? They’re going to steal the map to the grand line… her hearts starts to pound again but for a different reason.
"Every idiot dreams of finding the One Piece." Nami's voice snapped her out to another piece of important information.
Looking at Luffy, Y/N asks, "You're planning to travel to the Grand Line?"
"Yeah!" Exclaims Luffy with his usual grin, "To find the one piece,"
"People like you believe in something and you don’t even know what it is." Nami huffs as she continues to scoop through Morgans's belongings.
"Well, yeah. Don’t you?" Luffy fiddles with the telescope, pointing at Nami, "So why did you decide to become a thief?
Nami spares him a glance, "I didn’t decide. I needed to eat. You do what you have to, to survive."
"Ain't that the truth," Y/N mumbles as she as well gazes over Axe-hand Morgan things.
"You’re right. Nothing more important than food." Luffy moves around, touching just about everything in his way before he turns to Y/N. "And why did you decide to become a singer?"
"I've always enjoyed singing," Y/N shrugs as she decides to help Nami and opens a drawer. "There was a time when I couldn't, so, I made it my mission to sing all I wish anywhere the sea takes me,"
"Is that your dream? To sing around the world?" Asks Luffy.
Y/N shrugs, opening another drawer, "For the most part, I suppose,"
"Can you all just shut up and find the map?" Nami scowls looking through the pages of a book.
"Where you reckon he has it-"
Y/N was cut off by the desk suddenly sliding out of place, displaying a large hidden safe. They all looked at each other before Nami dropped beside it and placed her head near the lock.
Suddenly, an alarm started to blast, echoing all around the base.
"Shit," Breaths out Y/N, she moves to the window again, trying to pull it open.
"Uh… Do you think they know we’re here?" Luffy asks as he lowers himself next to Nami.
"No, I think they’re after the other thief and idiot pirate trying to steal a map." Nami scowls sarcastically.
Luffy grins, "What are the odds of that?"
Both Y/N and Nami, stop their doing to stare at the boy in a straw hat.
Luffy looks between the girls before uttering with an innocent chuckle "Kidding."
"Nami, not to stress you or anything but can you work a little faster?"
As soon as those words left her there was a banging on the door making the three of them jump.
"Open up!" Morgan's voice rang through the door along with the bangs "By the authority of the 153rd Marines!"
"You need to hurry," Luffy stresses.
Nami grunts, her ear still near the lock, "I can’t rush this!"
Morgan was now using his axe hand to get inside the office.
Y/N moved next to Nami, "There's no time for that,"
"I have an idea," Luffy tells the girl forcing Nami to move as the straw-hat boy grabs into the safe and starts to pull.
"Are- are you trying to pull the safe out?" Y/N asks in disbelief, trying her best to ignore the growing hole Axe-hand Morgan was creating on the door.
"Yeah," Luffy grunts as he continues to pull and pull and much to her surprise his arms were starting to... stretch?
Y/N tilts her head in confusion and amazement. She and Nami shared a look when the safe actually seemed to bulge.
The door bangs again and Y/N doesn't waste a second, she grabs Luffy's waist, Nami following her after her. Before Y/N is aware of what is happening, she feels her stomach rise to her throat. They were falling out the freaking window.
"Fucking..." Y/N grunted when they reached the ground, she felt her side hurting from where she had landed but there was no time for that. She quickly dropped the annoying bags off her shoulders and stood up, shaking off the pain.
"How did you do that?" Asks Nami as she rips the Marine's shirt off.
However, before Luffy could answer, they were surrounded by Marines. Y/N quickly pulled out her two war fans and took a defensive stand next to Nami who was holding onto her staff.
She used her quick reflexes and agile movements to evade their attacks while landing swift blows with her fans. With a quick flick of her wrist, she knocks one Marine to the ground and uses the momentum to twist her body, dodging another. Her movements are as graceful as they are deadly, and she slips through the chaos of battle with remarkable ease.
Meanwhile, Luffy and Nami are in their own battles, each utilizing their unique skills to take down the Marines. Luffy, with his fists and legs, dodges and attacks at will, while Nami wields her staff with expert precision, taking in multiple Marines at once.
However, more and more Marines kept coming. It was starting to get overwhelming. Y/N suddenly felt a sharp pain in her back making her stumble, she turned to fight off the Marine but to her surprise, someone else had joined the fight and sliced the Marine off of her.
With a final fierce strike of her fans, Y/N takes down the remaining Marines and is quick to meet with Nami, Luffy and-- "Hey, aren't you the guy from the bar?"
"The drunk?" Nami added to the question.
"Glad I made an impression." The guy said, sparing the girls a glance.
They turned their attention to the man who had just entered the yard. Axe-hand Morgan.
"The imposter, the pirate hunter, the thief and the prisoner." Called the Captain as he approached them, looking between each of them. "Fancy that. The four of you working together."
"Yeah. We’re a crew!" Luffy declared to which the three others were quick to deny.
"Nope, not a crew."
"Nah-uh,"
"Not together."
"No enemy has ever escaped my wrath. I alone defeated the Black Cat Pirates." As he brags, Morgan begins to take off his Marine vest, displaying his scars from past battles, "I alone captured Kuro of the Thousand Plans. And I alone keep Shells Town safe from the scum of the East Blue."
He takes a fighting stan and so do the four others.
Y/N held into her sharp war fans, hoping some of the paralyzing poison she had covered the blades with hadn't all worn off.
Morgan's first strick was met with the guy with green hair swords but was thrown off, then Luffy tried to strike him but was unsuccessful. Y/N was going to slice his face off but a grunt from Nami stopped her, noting she was fighting the upcoming Marines off herself Y/N decided to help because even if all her impulses were yelling at her to cut Morgan's dick off she wasn't about to leave Nami to fend for herself.
Nami uses her staff to block the Marines' attacks, while Y/N uses her fans to deflect and dodge their strikes. The two work in unison, their teamwork making them a formidable force to be reckoned with.
Nami strikes out with her staff, taking down one Marine after another. Her strikes are powerful and precise. Y/N uses her fans to take down the others, she strikes with precision, her movements fluid and graceful and when all of the Marines are down, Y/N turns to Nami, both girls sharing a look of respect for one another.
"Gum Gum Whip!" Luffy's voice rang through the yards forcing them all to turn to watch as his leg stretched inhumanly before kicking Axe-hand Morgan, knocking him off.
"Whoo!" Luffy celebrates his victory.
Y/N shares yet another look with Nami as both girls put their weapons away.
"Gum Gum Whip?" Asks the green-haired boy.
Luffy nods excitedly as he approaches the other guy, "Yeah! All the great fighters call out their finishing moves."
"No, they don’t."
"Some do," Y/N breathes out, turning to him, "What's your name, Hot Shot?"
"I'm Roronoa Zoro, pirate hunter," The guy, Zoro, said as he put his three swords away.
"And the future greatest swordsman in the world," Luffy added with conviction.
"Well, I'm Y/N. Nice to meet ya,"
Nami interrupted, looking over at the safe, "Hate to break up this beautiful moment, but we need to get this safe out of here."
"Some rope might be useful." Y/N hums, looking about while taking back her disregarded things.
But then, as if it were nothing, Zoro grabbed the safe and hauled it up into his shoulders.
"Or we can do that." Y/N mumbles, gazing at Zoro, impressed. It was kind of hot.
Soon, the four of them were jumping into Nami's small boat. She gave Y/N instructions to pull up the anchor as she unfolded the sails
"Careful with that!" Nami scowls Zoro when the guy all but throws the safe down.
"Whatever you say." Zoro tells her as he continues to roughly move the safe into the small boat, "Oh, wait. I don’t work for you."
Nami glares at Zoro prompting Luffy to speak. "I’m sensing a little bit of tension amongst the crew."
"Not a crew!" They all rebottle.
Ignoring them, Luffy stands on the dock looking around, "I can’t leave without my friend."
"Koby?" Y/N asks as she finishes pulling the anchor up.
Luffy nods, "He should be around somewhere,"
"Can’t wait,” Zoro tells him, "The Marines will be here."
"The Marines are here already." The annoyingly familiar voice of Helmeppos made the four of them turn to him, he was holding two guns up, "You’re under arrest."
"What happened to you?" Y/N, unfazed by the guns, laughs.
Luffy nods, laughing with her. "Yeah, what’s wrong with his hair?"
"Yeah, I might’ve done that," Zoro informs them, proudly.
"Nice work, Hot Shot" Y/N chuckles approvingly.
Helmeppos fires a shot near Zoro forcing a shriek out of Y/N, however it seems that she was the only one to have a reaction to a gun being fired because not even that fazed the pirate hunter, Nami or Luffy.
"I won’t let you make a joke of me. I’m taking you in and handing you over to my father." Helmeppos said, an air of superiority oozing out of him. "I’ll be the hero. I might even get a medal or something--"
Helmeppo's rant was cut short by Koby, who had satisfyingly punched the blonde down.
"Koby?" Luffy exclaims, impressed by his friend's actions.
"God, that hurt!" Koby looks down at his fist but then he smiles, "It also felt really good too."
Luffy swiftly urges Koby near the boat, "No time to explain, but we gotta go. This whole island is trying to kill us."
"I’m not coming with you," Koby said causing Luffy to halt his steps.
"You sure?" Luffy asks.
"Before we met, every choice was made for me. But now I’m gonna do what I want to do." Koby said with determination making all the others stare at him, "I’m gonna be a Marine. I want to help people that can’t help themselves."
Y/N smiles at him. She can tell he has a kind heart which is more than what half the Marines will ever have. She can only hope that he protects it.
"Next time we meet, we might be enemies," Koby tells Luffy but the straw hat boy didn't seem bothered by that.
"But for now… we’re friends."
Luffy nudges Koby in a friendly manner before getting into the boat where Y/N, Nami and Zoro are working to unravel the remaining sail to begin their travel.
And the boat finally starts to sail, leaving the decks and island behind. Y/N looks back at Shells Town, what was her home for six months, half a year, is now a memory. Usually, leaving a town leaves her with a bittersweet feeling until she gets to the next one to do it all over again but now, knowing that the Map of the Grand Line is within reach, she has a new plan in mind.
Find her sister.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed the chapter. Lots of love, be safe.
