I miss comics. Like right around when the first Avengers movie came out I got really into marvel and subsequently branched out a bit and fell in love with comics and I swear the era was like a little Renaissance and we were SPOILED cause we had Matt Fraction and David Aja on Hawkeye and Kelly Sue Deconnick was on Captain Marvel and there was my favorite run ever of balck widow with Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto (which I'm still mad we didn't get a hardcover collection of by the way) and there was a great xmen run going and secret Avengers and YOUNG AVENGERS (omg I miss young avengers) BUT THATS ALSO WHEN Saga was starting and imagine getting into comics right when Saga is coming out and being like wow comics are amazing but actually you're just really lucky to have one of the first things you pick up be one of the greatest comics of all time

Like there were other good things coming out for a while and I mostly stayed current until like 2016 ish...but then I fell off and I fell off. I miss it.

reminder that my totk rants are me just rambling about my thoughts, ideas and complaints, im not trying to analyze anything, be smart, be right, debate or convince anyone who likes it that its bad just bc i think its bad or simply dont like the choices made, im literally just spilling out my brain so it doesnt keep haunting me

if you think something makes sense that i think doesnt i, and forgive me for being so blunt about it, do not care why you think it works, my opinion of this game will not change and i am okay with that

you are free to disagree with anything i say of course but i really dont care why, sorry

(sth i said only in the tags before but added now in this edit bc i think its important: its not bc i dont want to hear other peoples opinions and live in ignorance or something, but bc im tired and i PROMISE you i have seen 99.9% of those arguments already)

im not trying to be mean, aggressive or dismissive, but again, these rants are just me rambling with no intention of arguing with anyone, the only reason im still posting whenever i think of something thats bothering me (even if it might be dumb or be disproven in game bc i am not all-knowing and might be possibly misremembering something), and letting those posts be rebloggable/interactable is bc i have been told by quite a few people that they like reading them or that they feel validated in their own disappointment

How do I explain this? (Spoilers for Enstars Sanctuary story)

Sanctuary is the story of a guy who woke up in a strange world with weird looking monsters and empty streets with a guy who was his former theatre club president. Except the theatre club president (implied to be a bit of a cryptid except this world definitely has no magic) had somehow mentally regressed back to his five-year-old self, which is fine because he's a genius, and now the guy and his former club president have to deal with this strange place together. But the side story is that two of his friends are being shown around what is basically a cult disguised as an amusement park to indoctrinate people into believing they can become idols and apply to work in that industry. And there's also another side story in which the guy's other friend is being harassed by a middle aged man who's kidnapped their goddess, basically, and is also the mastermind behind the overarching plot in the villainous sense. Also, the former theatre club president's new team, specifically that team's leader, is perpetuating the idol cult because he's got a twisted obsession with idols and believes that to farm them is the only way they won't be discouraged by those with exceptional talent and skill.

But in reality, this is just the story of a lonely teenager who could only find a little bit of freedom to express his abandoned child self in a messed up system that another teenager (who is very smart but just doesn't understand human relationships) created because he cares about nothing but in reality cares about everything and perpetuates a cycle of constant destruction to keep his one obsession alive.

But even further than that, Sanctuary and the whole SS ARC is just a story of a bunch of high schoolers/recent high school graduates who want to sing getting tangled up in a very dangerous mafia-esque world and sometimes realizing that they should call the police or some law reinforcement but forgetting to do so every. single. time.

#note stop getting into media that offers such compelling philosophies that you blatantly disagree with challenge i guess?#i could go on a spiel about how eichi saying 'i need to continue this path of destruction for those victims i destroyed in the past'...#...is kind of self-perpetuating that cycle of destruction and teetering on using victim blaming #sort of like that one story i reblogged a while ago about the villain who counted every person they killed...#...and were brutally rebuffed by the hero #but that isnt to say i hate eichi...honestly i cant help but just feel sorry for him #because he obviously isnt as detached and or as smart as he tries to be #but he also is definitely not as in love with idols as he thinks he is rather than hes kind of obsessed with them which causes....problems #same with wataru (and whats with that mysterious old couple that im 90% sure are his foster parents?)#like i know theyre very complex and annoying and mysterious to the other characters #and they are insane. that i will not deny. if they were real id probably not be able to keep up #but as a reader theyre just lonely and definitely acting way cooler than they actually are (same with ibara sorry guys)#enstars #ensemble stars #fandom spamdom #stuff i say #enstars sanctuary spoilers #also i will say this....wataru and eichi deserve each other but also i want to pry them apart because they are NOT HELPING THE OTHER #by the way i say all of this from a point of deep amusement because this is very fun #dont take me too seriously cause im probably wrong or misinterpreting #need my disclaimer tag again but its not showing up so disclaimer these are all just my personal opinions #anyway i stand by my last post in saying the ra*bits members need a break #AND I DEFINITELY STAND BY MY DECLARATION THAT SOME SORT OF LAW REINFORCEMENT SHOULD BE CALLED #like i know that police arent great but there are CRIMES HAPPENING COME ON????#like take everything ive said on this blog as a complete joke except for that....the amount of times these teenagers have been...#...threatened with death/bodily harm/destruction of their beloved ones is kinda funny when they do it to each other #and kinda concerning when a shady middle aged man im pretty sure isnt going to be *that* bad in the end but fails in talk does it #i have rambled pardon me

Thinking abt how much I love oni's writing again... In particular, "a seed is planted" continues to be one of if not my favorite logs because despite the troubling details and implications that come with it, it's the one thing in the entirety of the decaying corpse of gravitas that genuinely leaves us with a grain of hope (a seed if you will) and makes oni as a whole a lot more bitter sweet as while earth may not have survived, the dupes did, and after their horrible origins and the shit that many of them went through, in due time they'll finally get to just live, they're free now, and even if Olivia's sleep is end of a tragedy, the world will keep moving forward with or without those who've been lost

#rat rambles #oni posting #like I guess I just rly love that oni both manages to commit to being a tragedy while also leaving a world still in motion #like Im glad that olivia didnt get a bittersweet ending and instead got a fucking miserable one #while at the same time the dupes are still left there to keep moving forward #well ok more so I like how the narrative shifts into smth quite beautiful when seen from the dupes perspectives #which is also why I like that the dupes are rarely talked abt directly in the lore logs #idk I just feel like a seed is planted wouldnt hit as hard to me if the dupes were talked abt more #its the same sort of incedental storytelling that I like abt the rest of oni's writing ig #also I just think them being a major part of the lore logs would rly take away from the greater horrors and tragedies of gravitas #like idk I think it would have been a lot more boring if a third of the logs were just jackie going so yeah I tortured dupes some more #it makes the pre end of the world world feel so much bigger while still mostly remaining within gravitas itself #enhances the feeling of glimpsing into a past world #like every now and then I think abt what oni story could have looked like and am filled with joy at what it is now #I fucking love being into fiction thats good god it feels so good to like shit thats just like actually good #it honestly makes me almost wish there wouldnt be new lore but I do think theres room for more #as in theres plenty of room to make shit up and also we need to see more of the scientists pls #as for actual quote unquote plot stuff idk just give me like one jackie and olivia college year video transcript or smth and we're good #theres other stuff that make me lose my mind but for narrative consistency I think itd be best to not touch those two too much #especially olivia I rly think she doesnt need almost any new content the only stuff Id want with her is if it expanded upon jackie #because rly jackie is the only character I think would super heavily benefit from elaboration even if I stand by her not needing much #as Ive said a billion times just smth small to show us her in a more casual setting and we're golden I think #show me that woman being genuinely happy so I can fill in the blanks as she slowly gets crushed by the consequences of her actions #shes a part of this tragedy too and god damnit I want to see the life she ruined along the way of ruining many others #I want to see a woman whos eyes once shined and then when the lights have dulled I want her to say it was worth it with no conviction #metaphorically ofc I dont actually want to see most of it because thatd go against the narrative philosophy already established #rly all this means is I wanna see jackie and olivia doing laundry together or smth #oh also I hope they specifically give otto a whole other log just to clear up my pronoun woes #idc what its abt just have them talk abt their gender offhand or smth #just mi-ma being like how do you do young man and otto is like they and mi-ma is like ah yes young they

that post i made on my writeblr about how there's this one story i have out with a mag that i want rejected because i have a story i think suits the mag better.....live cam footage of me receiving the rejection email on my rainy evening walk

#IT WAS A HIGH TIER REJECTION TOO LOL LIKE YEAH IVE GOT MORE TO SEND YOUR WAY!#like yes release me from these chains!#also another thing is this story was first drafted in june and i kinda want to...not shelve but put the stories from pre like #september on the top shelf...not putting them away entirely but putting them high up #not because i think they're bad i actually love that story in particular and think it has some rly good lines #its just that was a rly fragile era in my life LOL. i want to revisit them in like a year minimum #i didnt draft any flash in july and one i think ? in august that kinda felt like #the last story of that era IDK IF THAT MAKES SENSE those stories just have #a distinct vibe to my approach that i dont see in 1970s leather daddy and between us girls #which are september and october #anyway this has actually presented a conundrum bc the story i want to submit needs more work #but i'm very intentionally doing nano as a break from 'professional' writing so no flash in nov #so anything i submit will prob be in december not the end of this month but thinking about flash in general has me like #i have a lot more story ideas than i thought so maybe it'd be beneficial to just fast draft/edit all of them #let them simmer throughout november in a word doc rather than just let the ideas rot in my brain #but that'll probably mean not finishing the lb chapter/update but also tbh...maybe ill just do that on the side in nov #i think if i do a rough draft of the lb chapter i can tinker with it/write up abt it during nov when i need a nano break #i did say just no professional stuff in nov so if the lover boy autism calls i will answer LOL #im doing the nano 50k goal for WS but not as high stakes as last year. honestly just 50k over any projects will be cool #also i got hit by an opening line on my walk too so now i have another flash idea i have to investigate

hi guys! im back. i went tokyo for a few days. got back at 7 this morning after taking an overnight 7 hour bus ride.... that i did not sleep on bc i cant sleep in moving vehicles. this will be something closer to a proper blog post i guess. splatoon related convention? experience below

i've kept my mouth shut about my plans to go because its not as well known on the english side of the fanbase and i didnt wanna make people too jealous sorry LOL , but i went to splaket 22! it's an unofficial, splatoon-only doujinshi market/artists alley. this was my first convention-sort-of event ive been to since i was... in high school. i also dont really get to meet many other hardcore splatoon fans irl. i was nervous about it because i don't know a whole lot of people on the JP side nor do i have a lot of confidence in my japanese speaking/listening, but in the end it was SUPER fun. i wish i couldve talked a bit more to the artists i did encounter to comment on what i liked about their works but. Skill Issue very few non-japanese people at this event of course but one of the only english speakers i saw i called out to bc they were wearing a shirt with this exact image printed on it no video and no photos outside of designated areas were allowed so i got like. zero pics of my own. but there was a lot of cosplayers i saw! oh and here's the Loot Haul. a few doujin, a clear file, stickers, microfiber cloth and a keychain. im surprised at how little i got, i think i shouldve gone a bit crazier with it

SMALL FUCKIN WORLD LOL (i tweeted at the artist afterwards to let him know i came by the table and to thank him for using me and my friend's inkling language fonts!) though truly, i think ardnin deserved the credit more rather than me since he made most of those fonts! ah well, still cool to see more and more fan works using deciphered inkling language. top middle book is a story with some salmonid characters that i havent read yet but im looking forward to it, the art is lovely. top right one was the first thing i bought. the artist is rk_splaworks, whose art i love, and we've been mutuals for a few years and have talked a bit here and there! i was so fucking nervous to meet them in person since my japanese sucks LMAO but they were happy to meet me too and we got a selfie together yippy <3 also havent read their doujin Yet since ill have to rub all my brain cells together and huddle over the dictionary, but i want their oc lore

ABA x Paracelsus HCs that live in my mind rent-free, even though I haven't played the game--

Some of these HCs include other characters involved in their arcade mode.

ABA is no stranger to stalking people. So when she came across a lookout point, she saw many couples, mostly teenagers, making out and going on romantic dates. She wonders what it would feel like to be young and in love, rather than just declaring someone whom she met first glance as a "husband"

ABA's collection of keys were hidden somewhere in the pocket dimension. She sometimes uses them as accessories to adorn herself, despite the like of knowledge in fashion (the girl wears pants as a top--)

There are many shades of blue that ABA can pick from. Since Paracelsus turned himself blue, the shiny surface reflected more colors than just blue, inspiring her to try and appreciate other colors near the blue gradient.

Added to the color stuff, she eventually tries variation of outfits with other colors, but with blue as the base.

Paracelsus knows when she's feeling fatigued. When she's at her limit, he opens the pocket dimension and lets her rest there until she wakes up. ABA sees this as his love language, but unintentional on his part

Both ABA and Paracelsus have no clue on how homonculi biology works, and Paracelsus hates to admit he feels bad that ABA may be at risk of getting herself hurt without him knowing what to do

Paracelsus wishes he knows more about human anatomy because its the closest one to ABA's physiology.

Since ABA is clairvoyant, she often hears the spirits of their victims which she tries to ignore, and probably because she doesnt know the correct response to a wailing dead person wanting justice. When its too much, she asks Paracelsus if what theyre doing was justified and that she begins to regret her rage filled jealousy directed at those that dont even bother them.

Paracelsus keeps telling ABA that she needn't to worry because it was a necessity for the both of them-- something he deeply regrets to say because he knows she has strong principles that she live by despite not being a human

Paracelsus, deep down, is ashamed of himself for tainting ABA for the purpose of tending to his bloodlust. He saw how genuine and pure hearted she is, but it turned into malice because of his demonic origin. He begins to wonder what ABA would be like if she found someone else years ago.

Just like ABA, Paracelsus has an unspoken fear of abandonment, but since he lacks capacity to feel other emotions, he doesnt notice this.

Ever since Elphelt and Testament approached her with good intentions, ABA wanted to make more friends like them, but is scared that others have ill intentions toward her and Paracelsus.

ABA's favorite book would be Alice in Wonderland when she was still in Frasco, specifically the part where Alice was trapped in a room or multiple doors with the smallest door being the exit. ABA admires this because of the concept of escaping, especially that there's a key involved. (Im biased bc my name's Alice and i like this story--)

Besides door keys, she also collects windup key and smaller keys for chests and compartments. She sees this as a symbol for discovering new things, especially music when she came across a music box that needed a key

Speaking of music boxes, she associates this object with Elphelt bc of her musical talent (and that she may as well look like the ballerina spinning on the music box)

Other than doors, music boxes, and compartments, she also came across a small doll that needed a key. After she winds it up, it began walking and talking towards her and freaks her out. But when it said "mama" in a robotic voice, ABA contemplates and wonders if she was ready to become a parent somewhere in the near future when Paracelsus has a body. An impossible thought, but one could never be sure, and it scares her.

Butterfly Pea tea with brown sugar, or sparkling butterfly pea lemonade with honey would probably her favorite drink because of its color. She shares this with her hubby 🥰😋

There comes a time that her bandanges would get uncomfortable and smell bad from blood stains and wounds, so Paracelsus tells her she needs to change them before she gets an infection. He does stop her midway because he realizes she isnt wearing any undergarments and proceeds to take her in the pocket dimension.

Elphelt offers ABA to shop with her to pick clothes suited for her. The first thing she sees at the boutique display was a wedding dress and begins to day dream a wedding with Paracelsus. Without her looking, Elphelt happily buys the wedding dress with matching tuxedo and gives it to ABA, despite Paracelsus' protests (the fact that he hears them chatting about setting up the wedding next day had him ded on the spot :P)

ABA watches home video tapes left in houses unoccupied by their owners (abandoned or they went on vacation; ABA is a home intruder lol). She finds a tape labeled "Happy Day" and it plays a recording of a newly wed couple dancing at their reception. The way the couple moved gracefully tickled an idea in her brain and insisted she and Paracelsus should dance. But since the large key doesnt have any legs, her attempts in waltzing with him went nowhere 😅 (and this gave more reason for ABA to find a body for Paracelsus)

At late nights when ABA is asleep, Paracelsus wonders that if he had a body, would ABA still be shorter or they would be in the same height? Either way, he was impressed that she can keep herself up with that low weight despite her tall stature, more so on how she was able to carry him around without much muscle mass.

When he sleeps beside her, her hair unwittingly falls on his bow and feels how soft it is. A very pleasant feeling he won't admit.

Everyday, Paracelsus keeps reminding ABA that she needed to eat to gather strength. ABA often forgets to eat because its not hard wired in hr system, nor that it was even natural for her to eat in the first place.

Ok so i didn’t understand this request too much but i had such an amazing person help me so 🤭 here it is 😜! @nyxwritesshit (the amazing helper!!)

For a few weeks you’ve been getting weird things getting sent to you, it had started when you went to collect your fan mail and as you were going through the stack you found a special letter that caught your eye.

You were a bit weirded out by it since the letter showed old pictures of you or just unflattering pictures of you. It would also consist of a piece of paper in the letter explaining in deep detail of all the terrible things that would be done to you, and saying things about bill. Obviously most fans werent happy about your relationship but you didnt care, you were happy with him. But the letters obviously scared you a bit, so you called your boyfriend and asked him if he wouldn’t mind staying over.

He didnt. So when he went over to your place he asked if everything was alright, as a good bf does, you showed him the letter with the pictures and the writing.

“Oh my god.. i dont even have those pictures of you!” He said, trying to lighten up the mood. You laughed and hit his shoulder, “im serious! This really freaks me out!” You said, sighing.

“I know, if you want ill stay over and be with you as much as i can.” He said putting the letter down and giving you a hug.

You hugged him back and smiled at him, “thank you.” You said, looking up at him. He leaned down and gave you a quick peck on your lips.

“You’re welcome pretty girl.” He said, smiling back at you.

It was now a couple days since you had told bill about the letter and hes been with you every second of every day, trying to make you feel safe.

You were grateful, of course, but the letters didnt stop. You were scared to go out but bill assured you that everything would be fine, and that he would be with you the entire time.

You smiled and nodded, “thank you my love, i appreciate you so much!” You said, giving him a big hug.

He smiled and hugged you back, “anything for you mein schatz.” He says giving you a small peck on your cheek.

“Alright lets go yeah?” he said, holding your hand as you walked out of your apartment building. Bills bodyguards behind you, causing you to relax a bit more, knowing you were safe.

Usually youd have fans surround your building so you were used to it but as you were walking you noticed someone jump at you, screaming your name.

You turned to look at them and saw them approaching you, with a scary look on their face.

They grabbed your free arm and pulled you, making you scream out as they dug their nails into your skin, “THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR STEALING MY BOYFRIEND!” They said, punching you. You punched them back and pushed them off of you.

Before you knew it, you saw bill jumping onto the person, catching them off guard, making them land onto the floor.

Bill pinning them down as the body guards pulled bill off them, then grabbing the person.

Your jaw dropped, not expecting any of this to happen. “Oh my god, bill are you okay?” You said immediately running to him and making sure he wasnt hurt.

“Im fine, are you?” He said with a worried look on his face, “im fine, you didnt have to do that for me..” you said placing your hand on his cheek, “Of course i did, i wasnt going to let them hurt you.” He said frowning.

“Its all over, lets call the police and get this over with.” You said hugging him. “Yeah..” he said.

After the police got there and took the person away you went back with bill, thanking him non stop, which he just laughed at and said your welcome.

“Wow, i really need to get some bodyguards.” You said, letting out a small laugh, “yeah you do.” He said, also letting out a chuckle.

You smiled and hugged him, “you’re my hero, you know that?” You said, wrapping your arms around his neck.

He laughed and nodded, “just had to protect my beautiful girlfriend.” He said, smiling. You smiled back and leaned in, placing a small kiss on his lips.

“Ill forever be grateful for you meine liebe.” You said, giving him another soft kiss on the lips. He smirked and picked you up spinning you around, licking his teeth (how he does it in the gif!!) placing his lips onto yours.

Later on you found out the news got ahold of the situation, making it a big deal, and totally taking it out of context, but they usually did that, and you knew for future interviews they would ask what really happened so you knew you could speak out about it and explain what REALLY happened. But right now you were comfortable, cuddling with your bf, his head on your chest and you couldnt wish for anything better.

FORTUNE

Green. Viridescent. It was the first colour his eyes saw and even if we were to take arbitrary guesses, it would be the last he’ll see, for he surrounds himself with green.

At first, it wasn’t ‘bout money. Truly, you could say it was never. It was about the riches of the old farts creation! it was helping and giving, and making art of trees that could conquer even the most steepest plains, that could grow tall and proud, plants of a million kinds each one of them strange or beautiful and birds of the paradise that flew like phantasms whisperings songs of holy news. It was Eden.

He always got attached to objects. I mean, if your parental figure would overlook your help you’d try harder, but cope in the lost moments of loneliness, with what you have left.

He loved his vast forests. But what he loved the most was the big dirt patch the geezer conjured on the more neglected, lower side of the planet, and he made sure that it would get the same treatment as the rest of the creations. But what was most curious about this, is that the objects he got attached to were usually of his own making. Not that he couldn’t accept gifts back then, but he just knew he didn’t deserve them.

And when he got to hell he made the greed ring in its image.Just like the Great Architect did with those humans. Of course he couldn’t replicate it or even get close to the creativity he had back than, his mind was far decayed by insects now.

He used to hate the fact that whatever he did he could not get rid of his siblings teases of how he was acting by the patern of the old geezer, take Fizzarolli and the clown pageant for example. But now he just doesn’t care anymore. He ruined one more bond, no, two. And he could care less.

For now, I can only give you a question, which the answer for might be in this very text :

“What does greedy man want?”

AHOY HOY! authors notrs! Genuinely dont know how to feel about this. So I got my inspiration from “A fallen Family“ by Anglotorn on ao3 (which got recomended to me by a lovely person in the comments of a post here on tumblr) which WAS GREAT (possible bias cause I have an oc that lives in the envy ring with a scottish accent which ties into the respectives story choice to make Leviathan have a scottish accent :] )

But ANYWAY!! Having the sins come out of the mob spawner at the beging of hell is kinda boringgg.🤑🤑🤑 i mean man. Wheres the real deal, ANGST. No owl soap opera melodrama.

And tbh Im a firm believer in “every character should have a reason“ on big choices (like not something out of your control, or talking without thinking, ehich usually has a resosbn too, despite unconscious)
