I am (was?) a pretty big Danny Ric fan but seeing this
https://www.tumblr.com/blorbocedes/732109825697316865/look-at-his-gleeful-fucking-laughter-at-the?source=share&ref=_tumblr
Is making me question things, I wanted to get your opinion on it :(
I never expected to get asked about anything(!) Daniel related but uhm okay I’ll do my best to word my thoughts on it since you asked:)
Firstly I have to admit to two things, I am like Daniel very un-confrontational by nature (im working on it) so I do have a bias when it comes to just laughing off uncomfortable situations instead of dealing with it like one arguably should and two, I watched the full like interview bit twice and literally didn’t catch the dumb joke until someone blew it up over here which imo like it’s a poor joke but also it’s idk not that deep to me given everything going on in the world I guess, I have a different look on it. Now that’s not to say you’re not allowed to be hurt at all here this is just for me personally I just took it as an idiot moment and hopes someone let him know after that that ain’t it.
Now again I’m not saying I excuse it at all don’t get me wrong and I do think attention should be brought to it so he can learn from it and change his behavior accordingly but I don’t believe publicly crucifying or “cancelling” him (or anyone really) will do that, it usually tends to isolate the person in question (this case Daniel) from the online fans instead bc they’ll get told by their pr-team to go off social media or limit comments or something for the sake of the ‘brand’.
Overall I just have this one thing to say that took me years to learn myself but here goes; if you put anyone on a pedestal you’re only hurting yourself. At the end of the day we’re all dumb little humans with dumb flaws who make mistakes and say stupid shit, that’s just what life is.
I’m not gonna stop being a fan bc Daniel genuinely brings me joy when I need it and that’s enough for me, also context here matters like I’ve seen some people act like he murdered their mother over this so like let’s take a breath no?
Anyways this is far more than you asked for but it’s as coherent as I’m able to be rn sorry

One of my biggest nitpicks in fiction concerns the feeding of babies. Mothers dying during/shortly after childbirth or the baby being separated form the mother shortly after birth is pretty common in fiction. It is/was also common enough in real life, which is why I think a lot of writers/readers don't think too hard about this. however. Historically, the only reason the vast majority of babies survived being separated from their mother was because there was at least one other woman around to breastfeed them. Before modern formula, yes, people did use other substitutes, but they were rarely, if ever, nutritionally sufficient.
Newborns can't eat adult food. They can't really survive on animal milk. If your story takes place in a world before/without formula, a baby separated from its mother is going to either be nursed by someone else, or starve.
It doesn't have to be a huge plot point, but idk at least don't explicitly describe the situation as excluding the possibility of a wetnurse. "The father or the great grandmother or the neighbor man or the older sibling took and raised the baby completely alone in a cave for a year." Nope. That baby is dead I'm sorry. "The baby was kidnapped shortly after birth by a wizard and hidden away in a secret tower" um quick question was the wizard lactating? "The mother refused to see or touch her child after birth so the baby was left to the care of the ailing grandfather" the grandfather who made the necessary arrangements with women in the neighborhood, right? right? OR THAT GREAT OFFENDER "A newborn baby was left on the doorstep and they brought it in and took care of it no issues" What Are You Going to Feed That Baby. Hello?
Like. It's not impossible, but arrangements are going to have to be made. There are some logistics.

anyway in other news it is EXTREMELY funny of the life series cast to force us to talk about them doing things "in real life" or to tag stupid things like "real life spoilers". yeah man jimmy fell down a hole and died in real life. yeah man sorry for the real life spoilers but they all only had the basic three lives again. yeah these are super normal things to say. don't worry about it.

Hello everyone,
Brazil is underwater, and we come here asking you for your help.
As some of you may know, the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS) has been getting torrential rains since last Monday (29/04/24).
In four days, it has rained 436,2 millimeters (17,2 inches), which’s triple the normal amount in a month, which is 140 millimeters (5,5 inches)
More than two great rivers in our region had their volume duplicated, or sometimes, triplicated in size.
This means all the cities that are close to these rivers ended up completely underwater
There were more than 110 towns flooded and the estimate is that more than half a million people have been affected by this climate disaster. There are also thousands of people who are arriving in my city (the state capital, Porto Alegre) as climate refugees, coming from communities displaced by the floods.
Through this unprecedented tragedy we have been really happy to see entire communities mobilizing to help others. Still, there are people who have lost everything, especially those in marginalized communities living in precarious, unsafe and unsanitary housing.
That’s where you come in. We need money. Money to buy food, clothes, medicine, basic hygiene products, mattresses so that refugees have a place to sleep, basically everything.
Right now, the biggest demand is drinkable water: my city is almost completely out of water, because the water treatment stations have been flooded.
We understand that you may be able to give very little, but also what is little to you means A Lot more to us. Just a dollar is enough to buy 5 liters of fresh water.
Here are the links for international donations:
(these donations are managed by people I know and trust. if you can, donate to them and not the government, but I’ll include that below as well. we don't trust the government to do anything right now, basically)
This is another option:
Government donations:
And here is some international news coverage of what’s happening:
PLEASE share and donate anything you can. Everything is greatly appreciated.
