had a Thought abt warrior cats today
so yknow the whole bs with disabled cats not being disabled in starclan?
consider: instead, the terrain of starclan just magically makes itself more accessible. obstacles move themselves out of longtail's way. the ground quivers under snowkit's paws when someone wants his attention. steep slopes flatten themselves before briarlight. etc etc!
that is all, free headcanon, please only take one /j

To celebrate my Lion au post, here are some notes / hcs:
Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Hollyleaf all have arcs that tackle different themes throughout the arc.
Jayfeathers arc tackles the prophecy-oriented side of things. His character changes the least. I do plan to tweak the way time travel works though (it will be more directly connected to their present - day tribe). Will keep up to date in that regard....
Hollyleafs character is, obviously, altered to an extent. She tackles the code-oriented side of things. She does not murder Ashfur, however..:
Hollyleaf is still driven mad by the truth of her heritage. She is angry at Leafpool first and foremost, viewing her as the root of their problem, as Leafpool was the one to break the code by having kits in the first place. She still confesses the truth at the gathering. She does not run into the tunnels, instead, somewhere more far off.....
After Ashfur is murdered, Lionblaze, wracked with guilt, confesses the crime to his siblings. Hollyleaf, blinded by her code-obsessed rage, later exposes the truth of what happened. Brambleclaw covers for him, similar to how Bramble covered Holly in the books.
Lionblazes character is altered the most (no surprise there). Lionblaze tackles the family-oriented side of things. He is very close to his parents, and you can see most of their drama / conflict through his perspective.
Lionblaze is a character who is simultaneously well-meaning, impulsive, and a bit self-focused. Similar to his grandfather he cares greatly for doing the right thing, even if it means breaking the code (much to Holly's disdain). However, what differs the two is Lionblazes hyper-awareness over his own reputation. Firestar is a cat who will do the right thing, no matter the slack he gets for it, no matter the enemies he makes. But Lionblaze is a cat who needs to be liked.
Due to the nature of his power, Lionblaze becomes increasingly insecure and hyper-aware of the cats around him (he views it as an inherent flaw ; a reason for cats NOT to like him). After his run-in with the Dark forest, he grows paranoid of accidentally harming / killing innocent cats. Frequent nightmares. Battle training sometimes induces panic. Bad habit of bringing home half-shredded prey. He wants to be a good cat, he wants to protect his clan and his family -- but his power only leaves him feeling like a monster. A ticking time bomb. All he's good for is doing the most damage possible, and that's scary to him.
Lions dynamic with Ashfur is expanded upon A LOT MORE. Now, in my au their dynamic is a bit of a mixed bag. They have their bad moments, days where Ashfurs resentment seeps through, but its not all bad. If you know the kind, you know -- The type of adult who will yell at you for a simple mistake, beat you down, but then 10 minutes later praise you and take you out for dinner as a treat. Its complex, it's hard to accept it for the toxicity it truly is, because "They're good sometimes, too". Lionblaze acknowledges that Ashfur was mean, but the attachment is still there. They had their good, genuine moments -- so it's hard to accept the fact that his mentor is a horrible person. Could it be? Could the mentor who told him funny stories about his parents, truly hate them that much? He can remember a time Ashfur peered down at him, smiled and said, "You know, Lionpaw, you're kind of like a son to me." In the moment he felt warm, it felt good. Did Ashfur really care for him that much? Now that same memory sends chills rippling through his fur.
Speaking of, Lionblaze is definitely the most attached of the three. He's incredibly close with Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw. When the truth is revealed, he is easily left the most (emotionally) devastated -- but he is also the first to forgive. He feels hurt, angry, betrayed, but he cannot deny the love he feels for his family, and he cannot deny the love they gave to him. It breaks his heart keeping his distance, seeing the hurt in his mothers eyes while he avoids their presence. He can't keep it up for long. Jayfeather, on the other hand, cant bring himself to forgive as quickly. He is a cat who has difficulty accepting vulnerability - he trusted his family, and that trust was betrayed. (Lion definitely has a bad habit of getting involved in his parents arguments later on lol hes emotionally invested)
The big change: Lionblaze kills Ashfur. You would think he does it out of anger, out of hatred, but no... He does it to keep his family safe. He can't let the secret get out. He can't allow Ashfur the opportunity to harm his littermates, his mother, again. Killing him was the only way, and yet, it leaves him with too much grief and guilt to bare. His entire life he shuddered at the idea of another cat dying at his claws. He was a monster, too strong for his own good, and killing would be nothing more than proof of that. It isn't long before it becomes too much to bare, and he confesses to his littermates. The grief, most of all, is what catches him by surprise. Ashfur was awful, he tried to kill Lionblaze and his littermates! It was wrong to feel this grief, wasn't it? But it isnt long before Lion realizes he wasnt grieving over Ashfur - he was grieving over who he thought Ashfur was; not only his mentor, but a tom who cared for him, despite the short attitude. Not only is his heritage, his upbringing a lie - but so is the very nature of his entire apprenticeship. It is a lot for him to handle.

Hawkfrost ❄️
design notes and headcannons:
🪶 inherited sasha’s slender, long-legged stature, slim face, and eyes
🪶 looks much more like sasha than tigerstar
🪶 his thick fur makes him look even bigger
🪶 white goes up the backs of his legs and head
🪶 black nose
🪶 scarred muzzle
🪶 points, face stripes, and tail stripes are the darkest color
🪶 wishes he had a more sturdy body-type like tigerstar and mothwing
🪶 pretty boy™
🪶 uses his handsome charm and charisma to manipulate cats
🪶 gay. so gay. gay as hell.
🪶 also closeted as hell :(
🪶 mama’s boy. really misses sasha
🪶 was always overly ambitious and destined to be evil

i know hawkfrost is supposed ‘the spitting image of tigerstar’, so very broad, large, and muscular or whatever but screw canon
i’ve always pictured hawkfrost to take after sasha’s build, lean and long-legged, but has tigerstar’s thick coat
whereas mothwing took after tigerstar, broad and muscular, but has a sleeker coat like sasha
and in my imagination he is always jealous of mothwing for that.

I haven't read any of ASC, but I've been thinking about this AUwhere Nightheart is the kit of Lionblaze and the spitting image of Hollyleaf.
Make his struggles being not orange being tied to his half (well i guess quarter) clan heritage (I know it's used a lot but here me out)
Your dad's this big, important senior warrior, well respected, but he can't even look at you for too long cuz you look so much like his dead sister. He's also this big hulking mass of a warrior, but you've got a skinny little body that screams WindClan blood.
And your uncle is the clans med cat, but every time he treats you, his paws shake, and every time you ask about your aunt, his sharp tongue gets even sharper.
Have older ThunderClan cats who knew that Hollyleaf killed Ashfur whisper behind his back about how they wished he had been born a year or two earlier. How he's such a spitting image of Hollyleaf that surely he could take Ashfur down.
And even after, while the clans try to settle down, the tension and stigma around codebreakers still simmers in the air. And here's this ThunderClan cat who looks like he's Breezepelt's kid instead of Lionblaze's.
Nightheart who just wants to be a part of his clan but can't shake the feeling that he's an outcast. His dad looks at him with sadness and grief in his eyes. His clanmates who spin wild stories and tales about how Hollyleaf seemingly died and then came back. Nightheart who actually experiences being compared to other cats who look like him, specifically cats who are still alive, and being told he could do all of these great things.
Nightheart who alientates himself and believes no one knows what he's going through, when his mother, Cinderheart, was seemingly/rumoured to be possessed by a cat she looks similair to, was named after, and suffered a similair injury to.
Nightheart who flees his clan because of this, but then realizes his aunt Hollyleaf did the same thing. ThunderClan thought she was dead. ThunderClan must think he's dead. Hollyleaf came back and took down an evil that threatened StarClan.
i dont know where else to go from here but nightheart could be cool if the erins could just break away from their favorite toxic couple's bloodline pls. and explore cross clan relationships beyond just the two lovers and their immediate offspring

Daisy's Kits
These kids really had so much potential wasted-- I mean you've got two sets of kids with objectively bad fathers and a mother who isn't from Thunderclan originally and is a permaqueen. Plus, there's so much background stuff going on. Toadstep looking up to Lionblaze? Berrynose and Lion's rivalry? Mousewhisker in the Dark Forest and his possible relationship with Minnowtail? Rosepetal mentoring so so many cats? Poor Hazeltail doesn't get much love in canon unfortunately.
Anywho, here are my headcanons for these kids:
Hazeltail
Mischevious, rambunctious, and the go-getter of the older Daisy trio.
Asexual lesbian who has a big ol crush on Hollyleaf when they're kids. She eventually settles for being Mousewhisker's wing-woman
She likes to call Berrynose "Little Brother", much to his frustration
She's a really good big sister to Rosepetal and Toadstep, and supports Toad as he goes through his issues with having an absent father in Spiderleg
Mousewhisker
Hopeless romantic in a relationship with Minnowtail
He and Minnowtail agree that they don't want any kits, that would be too much drama and a lot of hassle. Instead they just enjoy being together and frequently meet down by the lake at night. Hazeltail tags along as a scout/guard in case other cats notice them
He and Hazeltail are collectively referred to as "the twins" since they are inseparable. If you see one, the other is likely nearby
He was brought to the Dark Forest because of his frustrations at the code and how it prevented him and Minnowtail from being together peacefully. Also because he felt left behind in a generation of very import warriors (the Three, Cinderheart, etc.)
Overall, he is probably the most easy-going of his siblings, especially post Dark Forest. He gives off serious stoner vibes y'know
Berrynose
angry man with a chip on his shoulder and some serious self-esteem issues around his small stature
he's a tiny kitty with a lot of anger
Berrynose is bisexual and had a crush/rivalry with Lionblaze as kids. Nevermind the fact that Lionblaze is *huge* compared to Berry and could probably just sit on him to win a fight. He got over Lionblaze and then moved on to Honeyfern and then after her death to Poppyfrost. The guy has some mild commitment issues
Has problems with Mousewhisker's half-clan relationship, but would never say so to his face
The most insecure about he and his siblings not being clanborn
He does his best to have decent relationships with his kids, Cherryfall and Molewhisker, since his father was completely absent from his life
Rosepetal
Lifelong mentor who loves teaching the teens, she would totally be a high school teacher if she were a human
Sometimes ends up as the therapist of her siblings, especially Berrynose and Toadstep.
She's the most patient of her siblings, and as a result is the closest with her angry brother, Berrynose
She doesn't really have the same issues Toadstep does with Spiderleg, she sees him as a deadbeat but doesn't really get too worked up about it. She knows he doesn't really care and therefore won't put energy into a relationship with him
She's aromantic and really has no interest in a mate or kits. She does enjoy the exploits of her siblings though
Toadstep
the youngest brother with some big self esteem issues
He has the hardest time with the fact that he has a deadbeat dad. He spends a lot of time trying to impress Spiderleg when he's younger, despite his siblings constantly telling him that it really isn't worth it.
Toad actually ends up fairly close to his grandparents, Dustpelt and Ferncloud. They become secondary parental figures after his mom and really help the kid gain his footing, especially as an apprentice and young warrior.
Toad really looks up to Lionblaze and sees him as a big brother in a lot of ways. Lionblaze originally didn't return the sentiment but over time has warmed up to Toadstep
Toad frequently gets dragged along on his older twins' (Hazeltail and Mousewhisker) adventures, much to his simultaneous irritation and amusement.
They all really love their mom and would defend Daisy from anyone who says she isn't contributing to the clan. The Twins in particular are very defensive of Daisy, saying that she teaches every young kit and supports all the mother cats of the clan. That is just as valuable as being a warrior.

Random LongFire headcannon:
After the FirePaw/rusty vs LongTail battle, FirePaw gave LongTail a flower in an attempt to make up for the injuries he gave him, and LongTail ended up wearing the flower on his tail. Fire continued to give LongTail flowers and LongTail continued to wear them in his tail, around his arms as a bracelet, on his neck as a necklace, behind his ears, and used them and decor for his nest in the warriors (and eventually elders) den.

Alright so you’re telling me that Frostfur’s canon description is a white she-cat with blue eyes, which is also the canon description of Snowfur, the late sister of Bluefur, who was Frostfur’s mentor, and that Frostfur was given the -fur suffix which her mentor and also her mentor’s late sister share, and there was like. Never anything about that???
There was no inner turmoil with Bluefur over teaching and watching this young cat grow up who reminds her just a little bit of the sister she lost and she struggles with wanting to shut down to avoid the pain but knowing it’s her duty as a mentor to give Frostpaw a good start in life?? Absolutely nothing about the two learning to work together as mentor and apprentice and forming a bond so that when Frostfur does receive her warrior name it’s symbolic of Frostfur becoming part of Bluefur’s chosen family and Bluefur learning that the cats she loves are not dead and gone, but all around her in Thunderclan????
Also, also.. NOTHING at all about the fact that Frostpaw’s sister, Brindlepaw, was mentored by Bluefur’s mostly absent father Stormtail and the two of them having to interact while training their apprentices together!!!??!! No confrontations about Stormtail’s behaviour?! No struggling to set aside your resentment and/or awkward feelings for the sake of your apprentice?? the conflict to drive the plot was RIGHT THERE fellas.......

got a silly little headcannon/au thing for Berrynose
So basically I remember at some point in the series Berrynose and Birchfall were like besties or close friends for a bit im pretty sure. My little ideaaa is Berrynose had a bit of a crush on Birchfall and stuff but Birchfall had a big crush on Whitewing. They got together and Berrynose was like aw man. Honeyfern was head over heels for Berrynose at thise time. She looked sort of like Birchfall and was already in love with him so he decided to date her to try and get over Birchfall. However it didn't work. Honeyfern died and Berrynose felt extremely guilty he was unable to fall in love with her and lied to her.
He and Poppyfrost talked and began helping eachother through the grief and he admitted to not actually being in love with her. Poppyfrost was upset but eventually came around and forgave him. He eventually did fall in love with Poppyfrost fr and they became mates.
There was a scene in one of the books where dovepaw was being kinda distracted and Berrynose was surprisingly soft to her so I made it like he was kind of hers and Ivypools uncle growing up. and thats basically itttt

What hobbies do you think the cats would have? Since cats need a lot of enrichment, I feel like clan culture would become enriched in the arts(second to warrior things though) Like, For Example:
Playing w/ prey -> Competitions for who can drag it out the longest? (I know this sounds morbid but in olden times with less to do, there were more gruesome activities, look up bear-baiting)
Starclan as a religion -> Perhaps, despite being oral tradition, has a firm structure(like Bible?)
Cats wear different accessories for different occasions(vague but it could depend on symbolism)
Hobbies
Thanks for the ask anon! Here’s a list of things I think the cats would have:
Dirt Drawing
Cats will use the dirt patches in camp to draw things!
Sometimes this will turn into competitions or group drawings.
Flower Weaving
Cats will gather various flowers and weave them into each others fur. This time is often paired with Sharing Tongues.
The elders especially enjoy this activity, growing closer with their clanmates as they recall old stories.
Tree/Rock Decorating
Older cats will break down berries and flowers for their color, adding them with water to create a paint of sorts.
Younger cats, or artsy older cats, will use these paints to decorate rocks and trees around camp, or even use them to mark their borders.
Collecting and Nest Decorating
Each cat will often decorate their nest with their favorite things(prey is usually frowned upon, and bones are an oddity), and oftentimes other cats will look out for things others like to help decorate the nests.
Elders often have to most decorated nests, their decorations not only being a symbol of their clanmates love, but their age and time in the clan as well.
Sports and Competitions
Many clan cats partake in sporty activities to keep their bodies prime. This could include racing, climbing, hunting, sparring/wrestling, etc.
Elders who’s bones ache yet still need to move around will often go on walks together, with able bodied warriors standing as guards or help.
Singing
Mothers often sing to their kits to soothe them, and many times singing will continue on. Cats often sing around camp to keep it lively.
Some will even sing in celebration for a new leader or promotion in a cats life.

Do y’all ever think that the cats make bets on what their warrior names will be. Like Blackpaw obviously knew he was gonna be named Blackfoot, it was probably a joke ever since he was little, but some cats might’ve been like “noooo Brokenstar wouldn’t go for the obvious” and then Brokenstar calls out his warrior name and Blackfoot goes “I FUCKING KNEW IT, YOU OWE ME TWELVE SQUIRRELS FERNSHADE!”

also, here’s the recreational activities i think each clan would have!
shadowclan: it’s common for cats of all ages to play games similar to tag, or to hide and seek. it’s considered a good way to train stealth, and is also just a lot of fun. shadowclan cats, suprisingly to most, also have a rich tradition of poetry (which, in cat language, focuses around descriptors that match or influence the subject in some way, literally or metaphorically)
thunderclan: playfighting remains a common activity here even after kithood- it’s seen as a little immature in the other clans, but here it’s highly respected. thunderclan has a rich history of storytellers, though they’re known to embellish the truth.
riverclan: they swim, obviously! you can catch a lot of riverclan cats just swimming laps in the water. apprentices often dare each other to dive under the water as far as they can, but this dangerous game is heavily discouraged by adults. riverclan is a very aesthetically minded clan, and has many artists- traditionally, weaving things found beautiful into the dens, but a few daring young warriors have started a trend of wearing them in their pelts, something that spread from clan to clan during gatherings.
windclan: windclan cats love more cerebral forms of recreation. riddles are a common hobby among them, often built around describing strange twoleg things (those are always the hardest to guess). this isn’t to say they don’t have physical forms of play- you’ll never find a windclan cat ashamed to have zoomies whenever they feel pent up!
skyclan: skyclan cats love to climb, unsurprisingly, but they’re also a fan of using their claws to carve designs into the ground or stones. they’ve developed a primitive form of writing with this, with unique markings to represent some basic concepts, but they usually just like making pretty shapes.
