whats the aim of your rewrite? to build on canon and make it better or something else? /genq

Honestly, that's something I'm trying to figure out for myself to some degree. I think the warriors world has a ton of potential, but that the books as the stand tend to not live up to that. I'd like to keep to canonical lore as much as I can while still making changes to make the story and messaging of the books more consistent.

There are also some really problematic elements of the books (how female characters are written, relationship dynamics, lack of religious nuance, xenophobia, ableism, among many others) and I'd like to do my best to tackle those issues in a more sensitive way than the books currently do.

For now, I've been tackling chunks of the lore that I think need the most reworking and then changing things as I see fit while still trying to loosely stick to the canonical outline. For instance, all the leaders I have fleshed out are largely based on canonical leaders from COTC with some non-canonical ones thrown in to fill in the gaps. The COTC clans leaders will still lead at the same time as leaders from other clans mentioned in their chapters. If there is a leader in canon, they will show up in the rewrite to a point. I throw that rule out the window once we get to TNP and everything past that because there are some characters I would like to see as leader that did not get the opportunity in canon. I'm trying to stick fairly close to canon but sometimes I throw it out because something else makes more sense.

Who knows, maybe as I get farther into this it'll morph into something else entirely. I have a tendency to do that lol

i feel like tawnypelt and mothwing have more of a foundation for a cool dynamic than hawkfrost and brambleclaw did - when you consider that tawnypelt left thunderclan as an apprentice to join shadowclan w her father, that mothwing is in a position where her core beliefs could cause her to lose her job if anyone else knew about it, the fact that both of them aren’t intimated by being tigerstars daughters and yet other cats constantly perceive them as being shadows of him when they barely even Think about him…..but whateverrrrrr
