My Piece for @harriertail 's Ultimate Guide Zine!

I got Sasha and her kits <3 I had sooo so much fun!!

Below are some wip pictures + my thoughts behind the piece!!!

Many Sashas.. and originally the leaves were supposed to be golden, but it didn't fit well.

Some thoughts:

What i love about Sasha is just how tied to water her life is-yes i enjoyed her Manga a lot, my poor little miserable women <3

First off all, she leaves her happy life as a ships-cat to raise her children. Tadpole drowns early in their lives, putting a Shadow over their happiness. They leave for RIVERclan- where Hawkfrost will die in the Lake while Mothwing lives out a life she is not the happiest with. Its why she is looking at a Star-she may be the last one alive and at first, a life as a medicine cat seemed to be everything she wanted, until she found out about Hawkfrosts Manipulation.

Tadpole holds a star because he is the strongest kit, yet dies first.

The three are symbolised by a feather, the evolution of the frog and death's-head hawkmoth- symbols of death, obviously.

Willows grow around bodies of water and are often symbols of grief.

Meanwhile Sasha can only look down and with the passage of time (-> moon phases changing) see and know that in the end, her trying to save her children doomed them, and do nothing about it but cry.

Kinda depressing stuff for a little kitty in a book :,D

Thinking about how Tigerstar’s “true love” is Sasha yet his favorite child is Brambleclaw

Hawkfrost is Sasha’s son, Brambleclaw isn’t.

When Tigerstar looks at Brambleclaw he sees only himself, there’s no Goldenflower in him.

However, each time Tigerstar looks at Hawkfrost, he’s staring into Sasha’s blue eyes.

Tigerstar went against the very beliefs he killed others for when falling in love with Sasha. Sasha brought out his hypocrisy & that weakened his authority.

Hawkfrost was born out of an affair Tigerstar would consider shameful & sinful. Tigerstar killed Stonefur for being a half-clan cat. He tried to kill Stormfur & Feathertail for the same thing. And he HATES Kittypets.

And yet, he made Hawkfrost. His own little half-clan demon that he fathered on a Kittypet.

Brambleclaw was bred to be his perfect son. Goldenflower was nothing but a “proper” womb for his “heirs”.

Tigerstar may have loved Sasha as much as someone like him possibly could, and I believe a small part of him loved Hawkfrost as well, or at least wanted to, he kept him by his side after all

but Tigerstar’s ego can’t allow him to love anyone more than he loved himself, his pride, & his ambition.

i know hawkfrost is supposed ‘the spitting image of tigerstar’, so very broad, large, and muscular or whatever but screw canon

i’ve always pictured hawkfrost to take after sasha’s build, lean and long-legged, but has tigerstar’s thick coat

whereas mothwing took after tigerstar, broad and muscular, but has a sleeker coat like sasha

and in my imagination he is always jealous of mothwing for that.

A few lil ref sheets I did for myself for the Sasha/Goldenflower kits and the Goldenflower/Tigerclaw kits ^^

In this AU I switched the dynamic in TNP a little, while Bramble ended up going to shadowclan in TPB, Tawnyflower brings Squirrelpaw along the journey begrudgingly, and falls in love with Feathertail, and holding the “leader” position of the chosen cats.

Crowfeather still takes on her suffix, as they had more of a friendship than romance, as Feathertail kinda coaxes him out of his shell to get along with everyone and especially Squirrelpaw.

Meanwhile, Mothstrike and Leafpool have a sort of enemies to lovers vibe, as Leafpool is helping out Hawkfeather, she’s initially very intimidated by his sister. Leafpool def catches feelings first, and Mothstrikes pretty aware of that, and enjoys kind of egging her on, shifting the “fire and tiger” omen (now renamed the “fire and gold” omen) onto Mothpool, instead of Bramble and Squilf.

After Mothstrike dies trying to kill firestar, leafpool waits in her dreams every night, and every half moon hoping she’ll walk in her dreams (which, sadly she doesn’t)

more warcrime cats, this time Tigerstar and his two weed smoking GFs

Ngl, figuring out these three has been the most fun. at first for TS I thought about body armor like I had for Lionblaze, but then I was looking at poses and saw the one I ended up referencing; it made me think of a bodyguard; which isn't too far from his actual characterization, so a blood stained button-up with a tie just seemed to fit the best for his character, posing as s a gentleman or at least respectable.

I wanted to draw Sasha in something glam but then I couldn't think of the right shoes, then I realized worn walking shoes would be fitting for her story. then I realized that a once-glamorous dress that is now torn and stained but still worn with pride is *chef's kiss*

While I had the easiest time designing Goldenflower's outfit, I want to remark about her stripes, nothing too insightful besides I wanted them to look like flower petals, but I think they're nice :), also you can't really see it, but she uses a fire axe as her weapon.
