Submas canon vs fanon
The entire time I have been in the Submas fandom I have seen a lot of confusion about what is canonical and what is a wide-spread fanon. Both in the sense of people thinking things were canon when they were not, and (more rarely) people thinking things were fanon when they were not. So I thought it might be useful to put together a little guide.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with using fanon. I use most of these headcannons in my own fics because I like them and canon is dumb anyway. (Note: pokemon is a huge sprawling mass and tends to contradict itself, and there have been changes across the various games/manga/anime)
All quotations are taken from bulbapidia.
Nimbasa Trio - FANON
Elesa has no connection to Ingo and Emmet besides living in the same place. There is one interaction between them in Pokemon Masters, and while they are on friendly terms they don't appear to be particularly close. Similarly, the idea that Ingo likes bad puns/Emmet does not stemmed from their fanon friendship with her.
Uncle Drayden - FANON
The only confirmed family Ingo and Emmet have are each other.
Cilan is a huge fan - CANON
Cilan is a fanboy of both of them in the anime.
Ingo is the older twin - CANON
In the original Japanese Emmet calls Ingo "nii-san" which means older brother.
"Do you have any siblings? I have an older brother, Ingo."
- Emmet, pokemon masters
Emmet's joltik hoard - FANON
Emmet's galvantula knows the move cross poison. This is an "egg move" which can only be learnt through pokemon breeding. Since it would take several tries to get this move it probably would have left Emmet with a lot of Joltik. In theory. We don't see Emmet with joltiks in canon.
Ingo's kitty smile - CANON
He smiles like that in the manga. (Admittedly, it's not as exaggerated as the full on :3 people sometimes draw him with.) He also briefly smiles in PLA, but less cat-like.
Ingo's perpetual frown is unintentional - CANON
"<player>! Someone just told me something that troubled me deeply! They said that compared to Emmet, I'm too stiff! But that's just a misunderstanding! I know I smile when I'm having fun! I'd even say that I'm quite proud of how expressive I am when I speak! What? You say you've never seen me smile? I-is that so..."
- Ingo, Pokemon Masters
They are both autistic - FANON
They are related to the twin heros - FANON
They share similar themes and motifs to the twin heros/Zekrom/Reshiram but that's it. They have no canon relationship.
Both of them are heavily coded as autistic. However, it's never been directly stated in the games that they are autistic and (to my knowledge) nobody at Game Freak/Nintendo has confirmed anything.
Ingo has a receding hairline - (debatably) CANON
He is drawn with one in the art book. Does the art book count as canon? Until something in the main games says otherwise, probably. (Though there is some argument to be had that it might be an unflattering haircut instead.)
Ingo arrived in Hisui via wormhole - FANON
"For my part, I simply found myself one day here in Hisui, a region whose name I'd never heard... All I could remember was my own name. I was still standing there in bafflement when the Pearl Clan came to my aid."
- Ingo, PLA. (However, the art book depicts the pearl clan finding him facedown on the ground, so take his standing claim with a grain of salt)
We still don't know how he got there. Similarly, it is quite common to show Ingo arriving during a blizzard/freezing to death and generally in poor health/injured/unconsciousness. But the way he recounts it sounds much more peaceful.
It'a also common to have Sneasler be the one to find him. The art book (of dubious canon) shows a human pearl clan member finding him, and Ingo's quote seems to confirm that. It's possible Sneasler was involved but she isn't mentioned.
Ingo got amnesia from hitting his head - FANON
We don't know how he got amnesia.
Ingo remembers Emmet as "the man in white" - FANON
"I'm starting to recall a man who looked... like me. We'd battle and discuss Pokémon, I think... The words "I like winning more than anything else" flashed through my mind just now..."
- Ingo, PLA, about Emmet
He makes no mention of remembering Emmet wearing white or smiling.
Ingo calls her "Lady Sneasler" - FANON
Ingo only calls her Sneasler, no Lady. In fact, nobody calls her or any of the ride pokemon Lord or Lady because...
The ride pokemon are noble pokemon - FANON
There are 10 blessed pokemon descended from the heros of old, and these pokemon are revered by the clans and have wardens. The blessed pokemon are divided into two groups, the rides and the nobles.
The ride pokemon are not called noble pokemon, and they do not get titles. Mai talks about "the great Wyrdeer" but does not call him lord or noble.
"This suggests that even Pokémon that are not nobles can become frenzied..."
- Kamado, PLA, about the ride pokemon Ursaluna seemingly becoming frenzied
Ingo lives in Sneasler's cave - FANON
We don't know where he lives.
Ingo became a Warden because Sneasler liked him - FANON
"I showed a natural affinity for taming Pokémon, which is why I eventually became a warden. But still I wonder what my true purpose is here..."
- Ingo, PLA
There is no further information about his wardenship. There is no information on what his relationship with Sneasler was prior to him becoming her warden.
Ingo likes having photos because of the amnesia - CANON
"Ah, photographs. I appreciate having physical keepsakes—less ephemeral than memories. Would you do me the honor of posing for a photo with me, <player>?"
- Ingo, PLA, at the Photography Studio
Ingo has been in Hisui for XX years - CANON
The art book uses the placeholder XX for the amount of time Ingo has been in Hisui. Some have taken the double digits to mean 10+, however the first digit could easily be a 0. So, we still don't know. Net 0 information.
Emmet must be taking Ingo vanishing badly - FANON
We have not heard from Emmet.
***
That's all for now! I'm sure I've missed or forgotten something, feel free to add stuff in the reblogs! I might edit the list later to add more if needed.

Richard saying, "we're going to end up in the same place, it doesn't matter how we get there" pissed me off so much ISN'T "HOW WE GET THERE" THE ENTIRE POINT OF STORIES?! ISN'T THAT WHY THE ENTIRE DAMN BOOK EXISTS?!
So, shocker, I have Thoughts about this post of his. My knee jerk reaction when I saw it last night was an eye roll and an urge to rant, which I kept contained because I'd already ranted and we gotta space that stuff out from time-to-time.
And now that I have had a full night's sleep and I am slightly less cranky, I'm gonna have to go on record and... DEFEND part of his logic, gasp.
For those not in the know, RR wrotes this reply to question on Threads (lol) a few days ago about changes to the plot in the sixth episode that apparently bugged a lot of people:
Tumblr media
And like, I'm deeply annoyed about the "it won't change anything" bit because OH MY GOD STORYTELLING which is a whole other thing but I do have something to say about the man's logic and the difference in the show premise vs the books that I think is flying over a lot of people's heads.
The plot of the show is Percy saving Sally and doing a quest along the way. Sally and Percy's relationship is the A plot, the mythology and conflict among the gods is the B plot. Percy knows from 1x02 that his mom is alive and that changes his priorities immediately; we see him start to care about the overall quest and his place in the world in 1x05, but he's still pushing forward because of his mom. You have to add another pearl to pay off that A storyline, to promise audience members that Percy is going to succeed until he doesn't.
Percy in the books has a feeling his mom is alive or that he can get her back from the Underworld, but doesn't know for sure. The quest and the setting up the overall Big Three backstory is the main plot of the books and what we the readers are focused on. I wouldn't even put saving Sally as a B or C plot in the original TLT. Percy doesn't get confirmation that she's alive until they're down in the Underworld and Hades reveals he took her for leverage, so then only having three pearls becomes a brief but important conflict.
This is where we're seeing a lot of the issues with the show's plot come to a head. It's fine to change the priority of the story from returning the bolt to saving Sally, because it delivers the same result in the end anyway, like Rick says. But you have to bulk up other parts of the script in a way to make up for it and the show has not delivered on that part. (See exhibit A: my rant about any lack of mystery with the monsters.)
I think the most egregious change that he says doesn't matter is the trio missing the deadline. In the books, we're told that natural disasters and weird things have been happening since the bolt disappeared as Zeus and Poseidon fought, and stuff was getting worse the closer the deadline came. We are briefly shown this in 1x05 with Ares and in 1x06 with Luke saying things are "bad" at camp, but imo, it doesn't feel super heavy. The consequences of missing the deadline is that gods go to war and bad shit happens! Lots of mortals are gonna die! Doesn't that matter?
The show could've stepped outside of the Percy and Sally storyline for little bit to give more of a perspective about what was happening at camp or the outside world to bring that weight - you're not limited to just Percy's POV storyline in the medium of a TV show! (Of course, we can step outside of it to give a LMM cameo/stinger because priorities but I digress.)
They didn't and I'm not sure how they're going to "solve" Zeus's response to Percy missing the deadline 'cause like... this is the unreasonable king of the gods that Rick has started yet another series based on the premise of him being a petty bitch who wants to ruin Percy's life. Is the guy gonna walk back starting a war? Is he waiting to start because Poseidon asked nicely? What's the consequence to the world going to be? Clearly nothing, since Rick said the story is going to end how it was always going to end, which is just poor storytelling.

See the full 14 Days Collection here! See my full list of works here!
Summary: You're quarantined in the laboratory with James Conrad as you try to determine what the effects of the pollen he was exposed to are.
Pairing: James Conrad x Reader
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: 18+ | smut (minors & pearl clutchers, i better not see you here if you know what's good for you); sex pollen; p in v
Things to be aware of: reader's a bit insecure; snarky tension between reader & Conrad
Tumblr media
"Is this truly necessary? This is an allergic reaction to the pollen, which can be rectified with a quick shot of antihistamines, rehydration, and bed rest. You're overreacting, Y/L/N."
You smirked at the tracker's impatience. "Right. You know what you're absolutely one hundred percent right. How could I be so silly, Doctor Conrad. It's just some foreign flora that we encountered in an island that contained giant lizard creatures and a baby gorilla the size of half a skyscraper after all. But you're right. This is probably just an allergic reaction."
He winced as you pulled the needle from his arm, though you couldn't tell if it was from the slight sting that always came with blood extraction or if it was from your sarcasm-laden retort.
"There's a water in the cooler back there," you said dismissively, already starting on running the mass spec to process his blood. "Sleeping quarters are at the end of the hall."
"Y/N--"
"If this is really just allergies I'll administer the antihistamines myself. Until then, hydration and bed rest, right? So go. I'll let you know as soon as I get the results back."
You froze at the feel of his hand around your arm, suddenly quite aware of the warmth from his body's proximity to yours. "I'm sorry. Please, I don't like it when--"
"Look you could still be right, so save your apology for later. Just rest and let me run these tests so we can get back out there already. Okay?"
The only thing you heard was a sigh and his footsteps exiting the lab, the silence finally allowing you to let yourself release the tension that had you wound up over the last ten minutes. You strictly forbade yourself to let your guard down around James Conrad. You were convinced that the man was so arrogantly aware of how attractive he was that before he'd joined in these crusades with Monarch, you were sure that he could just snap his fingers and the nearest woman would strip on the spot for him.
You were even more convinced that if you ever let him close to you, he wouldn't even need to snap his fingers.
And now you were secluded with him in the laboratory area of the ship, being the sorry scientist that drew the short end of the stick to quarantine with him while you confirmed that the pollen that was dusted all over his face when he was assisting in the unloading of the samples your team had collected was not going to cause the world's next plague.
"Stupid James Conrad volunteering to unload the crates just so he could flex his biceps around Miss Pretty and Perfect Photographer Mason Weaver," you grumbled as you watched the screen begin to load with the component breakdown of the organic material that began to spread through the tracker's bloodstream.
The sound of the walkie-talkie crackling at your desk broke you out of your mass spec trance.
"Y/L/N?? Are you there??"
You picked up the crackling device. "What's up, Marlow? You got anything from those Iwi legends about this flower that dusted Conrad? Did we accidentally start the new plague?" Are we gonna die? you wanted to ask.
"I found something in the journals I had that looks like the flower, and the good news is that no. You're not going to die being exposed to him." His wording made a pit form in your stomach. "The bad news is that if you don't find a way to counteract the effects of the pollen he might die."
You felt your blood go cold at the new information. "Wh--What? Why? How?" Your questions came out muted, as if your voice couldn't even manage to form the questions. Of course it couldn't. It refused to.
"The pollen…it builds off of the person's desire," Marlow explained. "It builds and builds in a fever until they burn. Or until the desire is sated."
Your mouth felt dry. "So sex."
"Remember what I said, Y/N. It builds off of their existing desire. Whoever it is that he thinks of when he's alone at night, that's who can save him from this."
Someone may as well have laid your head on a guillotine and let the blade come down. "Is Weaver there?"
"What is it, Y/N?" the woman's voice rang clear despite the crackling nature of the device. Great, even technology bent for this woman. "Is there anything we can bring over to help you two? Ice bags? Water?"
"Condoms?" you heard Brooks holler from the background.
"Brooks, not now," the photographer scolded.
"We'll be needing you to come over to the lab, Miss Weaver." You did your best to sound formal and not as bitter as you felt. Of course it would be her. Those two looked like a couple of dolls turned human, they even looked like a couple, so she was the obvious choice. "To resolve Mister Conrad's…situation."
Her melodic laughter floated around your lab, furthering your irrational dislike toward the woman. "Trust me when I say this, Y/N. It's not me. He's my friend, practically my brother. And last I checked he likes them brainy. Like…mega brainy."
"Please just make your way to the laboratory as soon as you can. His life could be at stake." Your words were now clipped, your entire system in complete disbelief that she could be so flippant about this.
She huffed from her end. "Fine. I'm on my way. But only to tell you I told you so. Now, you should probably check on him and make sure he's not burning up."
That had you moving down the hall to the sleeping quarters faster than you cared to admit. When you got close to the door, your legs began to move faster at the sound of pained groans coming from where he was supposed to be taking a nap.
"Conrad? Are you okay in there?"
The only response was more groaning, prompting you to quickly open the door and walk into the small room. The sight that greeted you as you walked in had you frozen where you stood, as he stood facing the wall, shirt discarded and well-defined sweaty back muscles on full display, hands on the back of his head as he pressed his forehead to the cool wall.
"Are we contagious?" he asked you, terse and peppered with his signature brand of impatience that had you wanting to either smack him across his mouth or kiss him so he'd shut up.
"We're not. Marlow consulted the Iwi legends. It's only affecting you. The pollen was made to make the subject--"
"Feral? Rabid? Overcome with the desire to fuck?"
Dammit why were his words making you hot all of a sudden, too? Damn that stupidly perfect voice.
"I wouldn't put it that way, but yeah. Legend says that since it builds off of your desire, you have to be with…well, someone you desire."
"And if I don't I die?"
"The fever will burn you alive from the inside out, yes."
He scoffed at your answer. "So I'm going to die from desperation and licentiousness. I'd have rather died on the island. Arrrrgh!" He turned around and pressed his back to the wall this time, letting out an obscene sounding moan in relief.
"I already called Weaver she's on her way here--" you said at the same time as he breathed out "You need to get out of here."
He scoffed once again, keeping his eyes closed as he had them turned upward toward the ceiling. "You clueless girl, I don't desire Mason. Now please, darling, you need to leave this room. I won't have you see me like this."
Your eyes defiantly flickered downward at his words and you nearly bit a hole through your cheek as you caught sight of the bulging erection straining against the zipper of his pants, the sound of the velcro of the fly slowly opening from the force echoing around the room that was getting smaller as the moments ticked on.
"Hey, what kind of person would I be if I just left you here to die alone? Don't worry about me. Besides, I'm safe," you babbled, chuckling nervously toward the end.
The dark chuckle that escaped him made you painfully more aware of the wetness pooling between your legs. "And how exactly are you safe in this small room, with me? In this state? I could break you, little one."
Your nostrils flared at his go-to insult. "Ah, but you won't. Because I'm not your type." Those words made his eyes snap open, looking at you with a ferocity that had the rest of your words stopping at the back of your throat in a lame squeak, all thoughts in your head dying on the spot as you saw that his eyes were nearly black from how blown out his pupils were.
You tried your best to mask the bitterness in your tone as you said the words, too. Why was it that it was this man, of all the people on this mission, that you ended up getting unbearably attracted to? And why was it that he had to be a full asshole and still you couldn't shake your unrelenting desire for him?
His eyebrows furrowed together as he looked at you, an almost tenderness in the blacked out orbs taking you by surprise. "You truly believe that?" You gave him a look as if to say 'duh', which made him hit the back of his head against the wall lightly. "You beautiful, naive woman," he nearly growled before stalking toward you, grabbing you by the back of your head and pulling you into a heated kiss.
It felt like a wildfire had caught and spread throughout your body, down to the tips of your fingers as he held you close to him, his lips moving frantically against yours, as if he couldn't get enough. You placed your hands on his chest, trying to break the kiss, but all you could do was sigh against his lips as he wrapped an arm around you and lifted you easily off the ground, pushing you against the closed door. "C-Conrad," you gasped as his lips moved to your neck, his attentions sure to leave a mark. "This won't help you, Conrad. Please, just wait a few more minutes, Mason's on her way—"
"She will be no help, because it's you that I desire," he moaned against your skin, his hand deftly undoing the button and pulling down the zipper of your shorts. "You can tell me to stop. If you don't want this you can--"
"And what, let you die? Yeah no that's not gonna be on me," you huffed out. "Besides, I want this, too."
The only response from him was a sound between a grunt and a growl as he lifted you from the wall and laid you down on the small single size mattress at the corner of the room. "I'll make it up to you, I promise." His words came out rushed as he removed the shorts and panties from your legs in gentle tugs.
"Let's talk later when you're not dying from island pollen, okay?" He only gave you a little smirk as he unzipped the fly of his pants, only hearing the sound of his pants being pushed down this endless legs as he pressed heated kisses up your inner thighs.
A loud moan escaped you as you felt his feverish lips press a kiss to your folds, his tongue darting out and briefly licking into your entrance before kissing his way up your clothed body. You let out a whimpered moan of his name as he lined himself up to your entrance and pushed his way in with hurried thrusts, a fullness overtaking you followed by a mix of pleasure and pain as you began to feel the stretch of your walls to accommodate his size.
"F-Fuck, little one, you're p-perfect," he stuttered. "Even b-better than I dreamed."
Your thoughts were a haze, too lost in the feel of him mercilessly thrusting into you, like he was impatient to finally finish off the effects of the exotic pollen coursing through him. As impatient as he was in all things. But those words. Those words somehow burrowed into you more and more with every snap of his hips against yours.
He dreamt of this, too?
When his movements became staggered he reached a hand in between you to where your bodies were joined, his fingers starting to rub tight circles on your clit and making you jerk your hips even harder against his. "Conrad--!"
"Come with me, darling," he grunted before pressing his lips to your neck and rocking his hips even faster into yours, pushing you both over the edge. You felt your whole body quivering as your walls clenched and fluttered around him, flooding you with his own release.
You felt his movements slow, become more measured. Tender, even. Your heart began to constrict in your chest as he proceeded to press his lips to your temple and your cheek as you came down from your high, your chest still heaving as you still struggled to breathe properly after he'd taken you so frantically. Parts of your mind were already beginning to question if any of it was even real despite the startling realization that he was still inside you.
And still hard.
"Is your fever gone?" you breathed out, small whimpers escaping you as he worked his hand under your shirt and cupped your breast, his thumb rubbing at your nipple in slow, teasing circles while he trailed his kisses back to your mouth, capturing your lips in a soft kiss.
"It is. Though I can't say quite the same for my desire." You moaned into his mouth as he slowly began to move inside you again. "I don't think that would go away for a long while."
Tumblr media
A/N: Would you look at that, I finally wrote sex pollen smut 🥴🫡 Also just to be sure we're all on the same page with this, she thinks "little one" is an insult, meanwhile he actually calls her that affectionately. Because she's smol and he just wants to protect her 🥹💖

I just realized something about My Adventures with Superman.
This is the first (I say first because I have no idea if it will still be the only by the time Gunn's version comes around) iteration of a Superman story that breaks one of the few major behind-the-scenes writing rules about introducing a new Superman story:
It doesn't start the show with either Krypton exploding or the Spaceship crashing.
All other reintroductions to a "new" or "different" version of Superman in the comics, the movies, or the TV shows, all start the story with either one of the two things. So much that you can argue it's as much as a trope as audiences seeing Uncle Ben die everytime Spiderman get revamped, or every Batman movie having to show us the damned blood-covered pearls in Crime Alley.
Just 8 simple words that explain it all
"Doomed Planet. Desperate Scientists. Last Hope. Kindly Couple."
So much so that comics even lampshade it when introducing evil Superman parallels like Ultraman.
Tumblr media
"Doomed Planet. Desperate Scientists. Last Hope. Duplicitous Bastards."
But My Adventures with Superman very noticeably don't do that, and that's very much by design because this version of Clark is meant to know nothing and so the showrunners and writers made it so that the audience is in the dark as much as Clark is.
And it works to a wonderful degree because this means the audience spends all of Episode 1 getting to know Clark Kent: Junior Reporter first. We learn the overgrown corn-fed dork who can fly and break sinks before we get a syllable of Kryptonese. We learn about Krypton's fate in Episode 2 as Clark learns about it, but this decision also goes on to do something spectacular.
It also goes to prime the audience that this story of Krypton is going to be different from the version of Krypton and Jor-El and Lara-Lor-Van most people know, and that becomes more and more prominent as the show goes on.
And the Krypton we see hints of is fucking scary!
Tumblr media
The show is going wholesale in subconsciously putting us in Clark's shoes because it plays with our familiarity and curiosity of what Krypton is like until we get to Episode 8: Zero Day and we see what the visions and codenames of Nemesis Omega and Zero Day mean. And it invokes the feeling of more dread and terror than hope of seeing any more Kryptonians, and that's without introducing us to the known Evil Kryptonians in the lore. (Zod, Ursa, Faora, Jax-Ur, etc.)
Starting with us not seeing Krypton exploding or the rocket ship that Moses'd him to Earth also later leaves the ambiguity of whether Clark truly has the title of Last Son of Krypton in the last episode climax and end-credit scene. It throws a lot of what we expect into flux while still staying true to the roots of the character at the same time, because it never confirms or denies anything. We're just left to speculate and flounder as Clark is.
That's just a wonderful example of how a story choice can have such a knock-on snowball effect that can pay off in establishing an atmosphere.
And it's all because they refrained from using a proven tried-and-true intro rule to do something new, like they do for a lot of the series.
And I just think that's neat.

Beskar Doll - Ch. 50: Home
You and the Mandalorian balance life with your family and bounty hunting. The final chapter of Beskar Doll, found in its entirety on Tumblr here.
Tumblr media
Pairing: The Mandalorian/Din Djarin x Female Reader
Warnings: Smut :D No use of Y/N. Minors DNI, 18+ only.
Length: 2.6k
5 years later
“Have him sighted?”
“Yes, Mama.” The small voice next to you was high pitched and bordering on giddy. You smiled.
“And that’s the quarry?” You asked.
“I think so…” she sounded unsure.
“How do you check, Aidla?” Din asked from the other side of her.
“See if he looks like the puck,” she said slowly, her face still pressed against the binocs. “And…”
She paused, frowning. You and your husband both looked at her, giving her a moment to figure it out.
“Patu,” Grogu said, sitting beside his sister on the rock your family was perched on, making two small stones float in front of him.
“The tracking fob!” She pulled her eyes away from the binocs, her face lit up.
“That’s right, ad’ika,” Din said. You could hear the smile in his voice. She held out her small hand and Din put the fob in her palm. She held it up next to the binocs, pointing it at the man in the distance. It beeped and flashed. She smiled.
“I found him!” She all but squealed, smiling broadly, her teeth like small white pearls.
“So what next?” You asked.
“We make the capture,” she said, turning serious again.
“We make the capture,” Din repeated, voice proud.
You smiled at him over the head of your daughter as she pushed up off the rock, careful to stay out of sight of the small settlement in the distance where you’d tracked the quarry.
It was still almost miraculous to you, how much she looked like her father. She had his hair - thick and dark with gentle curls - that today you’d braided close to her head to keep it out of the way. She had his eyes, too - all soft, deep warmth - and his lips and his chin. It still amazed you sometimes to look at her and have the acute realization of just what she was.
Your pregnancy had quickly become more real once you and Din had Grogu back. You returned to Naboo and visited a proper doctor, a knot in your stomach as you did. She confirmed what you were already all but certain of: you were pregnant.
Din immediately tried to get you to stop hunting with him.
“No,” you said simply, shrugging with Grogu on your lap.
“What do you mean no.”
“I mean no,” you shrugged again. “It’s a very simple word in Basic, Din, I’m surprised you’re unfamiliar…”
“Cyare.”
“Din.”
“Patu.”
“Thank you,” you looked down at the boy on your lap, his small head tilted back so he could look up at you.
“Not safe, Doll,” he said.
“I did plenty of unsafe things before we knew I was pregnant,” you replied. “It was fine. I’m not going to stop living my life because we’re going to have a child. I don’t intend to after they’re here, either.”
“Doll.”
“You’re my husband, my partner, my riduur,” you said. “Not my master or my king. I don’t fall under your command, Din.”
Eventually, you had to slow down, of course, but you hunted bounties until you couldn’t keep up. It wasn’t long after that Aidla was born on Naboo, just you and Din behind closed doors so the first time he saw his daughter, it was without a helmet. It was Din who suggested her name, her tiny head cradled in his large palm as he looked at her with wonder, your back against his chest as he held you both. He wanted to honor the woman who’d kept you close in the years you were apart.
After she was born, it suddenly made so much more sense to take Karga up on an offer he’d made to Din before the two of you had come back together: a place to call home.
The small house reminded you a bit of your home on Tatooine. There were three bedrooms, a small kitchen where you could all eat together, a sitting room with enough space for the children to play on the floor while you and Din watched.
It was when Aidla and Grogu were playing there that she first showed signs of her Jedi abilities. You and Din were on the couch, your head on his lap, his fingers tracing along your arm as you read a book on your data pad. You caught it out of the corner of your eye, a bright blue block floating toward her chubby hand from a few feet away.
Floating toys were hardly unusual in your home. Grogu was happy to use the force to get his tiny hands on whatever he desired - for better or for worse. But your son was focused on the small silver ball from the Razor Crest in his hands, not paying any mind to his sister or the floating block.
“Din!” You sat up so fast that the Mandalorian jumped to his feet, startling Aidla, the block tumbling to the ground. Her small face scrunched and she wailed.
“It’s alright, ad’ika,” he said, voice soothing as he scooped her up. Grogu pouted and you went to pick him up, too, kissing his little forehead and bouncing him on your hip. Aidla quieted quickly, her face buried in her father’s neck. He frowned at you. “What happened?”
“She was using the force,” you said, voice low. Not that there was anyone there to keep her power a secret from but it set you on edge. He frowned, his brows knitting together. “It was her, it wasn’t him. I’m sure of it. She’s….”
“We figured it out with him,” he said, kissing the crown of your head. “We’ll figure it out with her, too.”
That was three and a half years ago now and, so far, you had figured it out. Not that it wasn’t challenging having two Jedi children, especially when neither you nor Din could move things with your minds, but Aidla and Grogu bonded through it. They would have all but silent conversations in their minds, the only sound the occasional giggle bursting out of Aidla like some uncontrolled thing.
Ahsoka had her theories about what made Aidla strong in the force. Given your sensitivity to it, it’s possible that it was inherited. That your family had carried the trait for generations, it had just never fully manifested until your daughter.
It was also possible that Grogu’s burst of power through you at Gideon’s facility had flowed through Aidla, too. She just held onto it, built it into herself, become who she was because of you and Din and Grogu together.
You were almost certain that Grogu had reminded Aidla about the fob. Even though she should be learning to be sure of her hunting choices on her own, it made you smile, your son helping his little sister when she ran into trouble.
“OK ade,” you said, trying to incorporate what Mando’a you knew when talking with your children. “What are the rules when we’re making a capture?”
“We listen to you and Buir,” Aidla sighed, sounding bored.
“That’s right,” you smiled a little. “What else?”
Grogu pushed an image into your mind, of him and Aidla inside a pod that Karga had made for the two of them. You nodded, still smiling.
“Right again,” you said. “You stay in the pod.”
“When do I get to do that part?” Aidla asked as Din lifted her into the pod. “I’m a good fighter!”
“You’re not quite big enough yet, darling girl,” you said, switching to Bothese as Din put Grogu in the pod, too. “Just keep practicing so you’ll be ready when the time comes.”
She rolled her eyes and you smiled and shook your head as you sealed the pod. She was a skilled fighter. Of course she was, with a handmaiden mother and Mandalorian father. You and Din regularly worked with her, teaching her to fight and shoot. The beskar staff that had been broken in half by the Darksaber was the perfect size for her to use to practice and she loved to mimic your movements as you trained.
You and Din made the capture easily, just a bail jumper who hadn’t anticipated being hunted down and hadn’t done a great job of hiding himself. Din put him into carbonite on the Crest as you settled Aidla and Grogu into the cockpit.
“Buir,” Aidla asked from her seat behind Din, leaning forward to see the navigational charts. “Are we going to see Aunt Sosha?”
“Eventually,” he said, starting the launch sequence. You held Grogu tighter as the ship took off. “We’re going to see Aunt Cara first, then Aunt Sosha and then we’re going to spend some time on our world before we go home.”
“Do you think Aunt Cara will let me fight?” She asked, eager, her eyes wide. “I got better since last time!”
“You’ll have to ask her, ad’ika,” you heard him smile below the helmet. “But I can’t imagine Cara saying no to you. Or to a fight.”
You laughed a little as Aidla settled back into the jump seat, smiling almost smugly. You were looking forward to seeing Cara again. The two of you had become thick as thieves over the years, swapping war stories and laughing yourselves sick over a bonfire and whiskey as Din sighed, the firelight reflecting off his armor as you leaned against him.
You and Sosha had reconnected, too, in the years since you’d gone to her for help getting Grogu back. She’d fallen in love with your son before she’d even made it out of the research facility. Sosha had been one of the first people to meet Aidla and immediately adored her, too.
“Oh my stars,” she breathed, holding your daughter’s tiny body in her hands - one organic, one prosthetic. You smiled, tears swelling at the sight of your oldest, closest friend cradling your newborn child, your husband’s arm wrapped around your shoulders. “I’ve never seen anything so perfect in my entire life.”
Aidla yawned, making a little coo as she scrunched her tiny nose.
“I need one of these,” she said, glancing up at you with a small smile. “Don’t tell Pell.”
“I’ll let you break that to him,” you smiled a little, lacing your fingers with Din’s. “These warrior men need some easing into the idea…”
You felt Din give you a look from below the helmet and you smiled over your shoulder at him. He touched his forehead to yours, the cool metal its own form of familiarity and intimacy that you’d come to love.
“Yes, Lady Djarin,” Sosha said softly to Aidla. “Definitely need to get one of you.”
It didn’t take long for Aidla and Grogu both to fall asleep as the Crest went into hyperspace. Din gently lifted his daughter and carried her down the ladder to the small sleeping quarters you’d made in the corner of the cargo hold, not far from your first hiding place on the ship. He tucked her in as you brought Grogu down and put him in the bed next to her. Din removed his helmet and kissed them both before taking you by the hand and leading you to your quarters.
He undressed you slowly, running his hands over your skin, fingers tracing along your arms, over your ribs, your breasts, your neck, your face. You pulled away his armor, piece by piece, until you were in each other’s arms with nothing between you.
“I think we should make another one of those,” he said between soft kisses peppering your skin.
“You really want to be outnumbered by Jedi?” You smiled a little as he pressed you back into the bed. You lay down on it, pulling him down with you.
“If they’re yours,” he said, settling between your thighs, his weight a heavy comfort as his body swallowed your own. “It’s all I want.”
He kissed down your body, over your chest, your stomach, his lips lingering on your skin below your navel. His mouth found your slit, the tip of his tongue tracing over your slick seam from your entrance to your clit, making you moan. He pressed his tongue into you, opening you gently and slowly, his nose against the bottom your clit. His large hand splayed out against your lower stomach, his thumb brushing and teasing the top of your sensitive nub.
His tongue worked deeper into you, his fingers sinking into your flesh as your body got tight and hot around him, rocking your hips against him until you came with a strangled moan.
He kissed back up your body while your limbs were still limp and pliant from your orgasm. He still tasted like you as his tongue slipped into your mouth, his fingers tangling in your hair, his hard length brushing against your dripping slit.
“Cyare,” he breathed.
“Yes,” you nodded, panting and aching and needy. “Yes, let’s have another baby, I want…”
He swallowed your words, his cock pressing into you, making you moan at the stretch of him. You pressed your hips up against him until he was fully within you. He stilled inside you for a moment, his lips separating from you just enough to look in your eyes, joined with him as thoroughly as two people could be.
Din moved in you slowly at first, so you could feel every part of him within you, your hips rising to meet his as you sank into each other. He increased his pace gradually, your body tightening around him, your fingers pressing into his back, trying to pull him as close to you as you could get. He was so deep inside you that you couldn’t remember a time where he wasn’t a part of you and you weren’t a part of him.
“Din,” you moaned into him. “I…”
He pressed into the soft, achy part of you that made your heart stutter and back arch, stealing the words from your mouth.
“Need you to cum for me, Cyare,” he was panting, desperate. “Please, need to feel you, love you, need you…”
You came, arching into him, your hands clutching him close and you felt him come apart within you, pressing as deep as he could reach inside you.
He pulled you against his chest and tugged your leg over his hip before rolling you both onto your sides, his cock still inside you. The arm below you wrapped around you close to him as his other hand traced along the edges of your face, his eyes searching your own.
“Think I’ll like being outnumbered with you,” you smiled.
“We’ve made it work so far,” he kissed you softly. “We’re raising warriors.”
You smiled, burying your face in his neck. He still smelled a little wild. Like the forest. Like home.
It amazed you sometimes, thinking of all the places that were home to you now. Your husband and your children together. The Razor Crest where you’d first fallen for the Mandalorian who was now your riduur. The house on Nevarro that was always filled with the sound of love. The uncharted world where you brought your children and they learned to hunt and climb and you had a chance to paint.
When you left Naboo, you thought you’d never find a home again, not really. Now, you had it everywhere, the comfort and security of it reaching into everything.
You pulled back from your husband just enough to see his face, the face of a Mandalorian warrior. Your fingers drifted into his hair and you smiled a little. In all of the galaxy you’d seen, nothing was quite as beautiful as Din and he was a sight that was reserved just for you and the family you made with him.
“Cyare,” he said softly. “What is it?”
“Nothing,” you smiled a little. “Just happy that I’m home.”
A/N: WOW!
This is over. I can't believe it.
This was the first fan fiction I ever wrote, the first time I ever tried to make something new from a character that wasn't my own. Even though I only started it a few months ago, it feels like I've been with Din and Doll forever.
Thank you so much for being here for this story. I hope you enjoyed the ride as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you. Knowing you were a part of it, reading your comments, experiencing it alongside you all helped make this experience what it was. It's been incredible. Thank you.
I've started a new fic set in the TLOU universe called Yearling and you can find that here.
Thank you again for spending your time with my work. It's meant the world. I hope we go on another adventure again soon.
Love you all!

So these past few months have been A Time, but the past few weeks in particular I’ve held off giving y’all any snacks because I am at Lady Gotham and I really want everyone to see her for the first time together
And I’m also at the last damn 1000 words for the chapter it is so close
But the tone is fighting me and I think it’s because I haven’t fully nailed what I want from this conversation and what will need to wait for the next one
So instead of something from the active chapter WIP here is a probably-to-be-deleted (or at least thoroughly reworked) scene from Jason’s first meeting with Lady Gotham 👀
(Cuz Jason’s been having A Goddamn Time these last few chapters and I think he deserves a break from breakdowns and daddy issues)
Happy WIP Wednesday!
————
It was almost a relief when her attention snapped back to Danny, her smile a little cooler, but still fond.
“You did not bring him to see me before,” she remarked blandly, and Danny winced.
“Yeah… if it helps, last time we were here we were kinda distracted?” He offered hopefully.
Lady Gotham chuckled softly, crossing one knee over the other and sending smog billowing around them.
“I’m aware. Clockwork told me he intended to ask for your services,” she added to Jason directly, blatant pride and approval making him wonder about his own doubts.
They came from John fucking Constantine, after all.
And from a decade of strenuous training for a job that at one point had literally kill him. Jason wouldn’t say he regretted his call, but he still wanted to know more. And about that weird shadow he’d seen in the visions she had showed him.
Danny seemed a little more hung up on something else.
“Wait, Clocky came and told you about it?” He asked incredulously.
Lady Gotham chuckled softly.
“The Master of Time may not technically need my permission, but he knows well enough to ask before interfering with what’s mine,” she agreed with a regal incline of her head.
Jason almost laughed at the feeling of Danny’s indignation beside him. He didn’t even have to look to see the pout as he folded his arms. It rather effectively killed any lingering tension.
“Oh, sure, the Ghost King he just drops in and ambushes, but we wouldn’t want to offend a city spirit,” Danny grumbled melodramatically, then looked sharply at Lady Gotham. “No offence, obviously.”
The larger ghost was clearly more amused than offended, blowing another stream of smog in Danny’s direction.
“None taken. You yourself were quick enough to ask my permission before entering my city,” she reminded him with an easy nonchalance.
“Yeah, but I have manners,” Danny grinned back, relaxing and leaning in against Jason’s side like either of them had any gravity pulling them down.
Gotham’s lips quirked as she nodded an agreement and she gestured with one hand at the mostly obscured length of her legs.
“They are appreciated. Do you like them?” She asked with just a hint of smugness that made Jason think there was something… more to the gesture.
Both men obediently followed the gesture, looking down the length of her legs into billowing smog and the occasional flash of her pearls. Jason could feel Danny’s confusion.
“Your, uh… your dress? It’s very nice?” He offered cautiously, his aura a delicate balance of polite-sincere-I’m just a little guy help me out here that almost made Jason snicker… until he realised that he couldn’t feel an answering aura from Lady Gotham.
She was so there, larger than life and overwhelming even sat on his level, but he wasn’t getting the same insights into her feelings he’d gotten from every other ghost he’d met. It kinda reminded him of that first meeting with Frostbite and realising he couldn’t feel the yeti’s aura… only to find it all around him.
He knew better than to go looking this time. He could confirm with Danny once they were away.
Meanwhile the Lady laughed softly, reshuffling long brown legs so the other was on top and recrossing them, smog trailing from where her feet should have been as it cleared for just the briefest moment. And set the dangling pearls shining bright.
“A decent try, my king, but once more?” She hinted, a flash of a smile setting the pearls briefly aglow. They almost bounced with the motion.
Jason knew the story, of course. All the bats had, usually from Alfred or the records of the police commissioner.
Bruce never talked about it. They were never quite so rude as to ask.
Which made it even more bullshit that Bruce constantly brought up Jason’s darkest secrets, his own past.
Squashing the thought, he tried convincing himself it tasted like Pitty. Despite the little grumblings of protest below his ribcage.
But no, he knew what the pearls meant to Bruce, knew from the bat signal eyes what they had to mean. Bruce fucking Wayne, Batman, was so intrinsically a part of Gotham he’d changed the way her spirit looked.
Jason had fucking given his life for the city, and what had it gotten him? A permanent passenger who wanted to kill everyone he cared for, a family that could barely look at him, a half life of always coming in second to Tim fucking Drake… a little brother he had nearly killed because everything Jason had ever wanted had just fallen into Tim’s lap.
He knew better now. He did. He knew it wasn’t true; Tim butted heads with Bruce every other week, got himself a Robin cape by larceny (and hadn’t Jason loved hearing that? Almost better than going for the Batmobile’s tires), embezzled enough from the Bat-Budget to build an entire second Batmobile that he kept below his Nest like a trophy.
(Jason had stolen the tires off that once he found out about it too. Tim had never brought it up or retaliated, but he was too good not to know who did it. They’d been replaced by Bat Budget anyway.)
Point was, Jason knew the Pit lied. That Tallia and Ra’s and all that lot lied. He had been missed, he was loved, his family wanted him home. Gotham was his as much as Bruce’s, and the Alley was his alone.
It just… tugged at something bitter and dark in his chest to look at Lady Gotham, the beating heart of his city, and only see Bruce reflected back. Only the glitz and glamour of the rich, just like in real life.
The thought was barely more than words, half choked words he knew weren’t anything but a ghost fear from the kid who’d been left behind or forgotten more than he’d been cared for, before Lady Gotham responded. Not verbally, but for all that Jason hadn’t felt anything a moment ago, he was suddenly surrounded by her.
WARMTH-GENTLE-LOVED-LOVED-LOVED
It wasn’t that which broke through though; no, that was the sudden soft, watered down scent of Catherine Todd’s favourite perfume, the one they could almost never afford so she would refill the bottles with water once they were about half empty.
It hadn’t covered the stink of cigarettes and worse coming from the very walls of their apartment, he’d only smelled it when she was holding him close. Shielding him from Willis’s rage, tucking him into bed, cuddled up on the couch to wait out the rain.
It brought tears to his eyes, the pressure of the day threatening to spill over and overwhelm him again.
He could feel her signal-eyes on him, dimly hear her bantering with Danny about whatever the other was missing, but none of it registered. Not through the phantom arms wrapped around him, the soft whisper of Gotham’s voice in his head.
Not unloved, my son. Never unloved, never alone.
————
We’ll see if this makes its way back in either this chapter or the next one, Jason is certainly due a couple dozen complete breakdowns just from the backstory, let alone the events of the fic
I’d love to say I think it’ll be soon but tomorrow’s gonna suck and I have no idea what this month is gonna be I couldn’t breathe all through October and it’s touch and go now

Ummmm….
Any trans!Crowley smut you’re particularly fond of?
Asking for a friend
here are some i've read 💜
from autumn blooms spring summer fruit by blackeyedblonde (9k) In the potter’s shed, Crowley picked up a trowel and threatened a yearling lemon tree still residing within its earthenware pot before he would allow himself to sit at the gardening table and pull the folded newspaper Aziraphale had given him from his smock. Enclosed on the inside were two gifts. One was the small velvet pouch that contained a pair of golden earrings strung with twin baroque pearls that did not squeak when he curiously rubbed one against his canine tooth. The other was the familiar sight of neat copperplate writing at the bottom of page seven of the paper, done in lead pencil so the words could be more easily smudged out with a bit of rubber. A gift, Lord Fell had written. I will come find you an hour after the molting brown bird has gone to bed.
Ever-Fixed by HKBlack (19k) Aziraphale Fell had a plan. Go to school, get his degree, and start his life with his beloved at his side as man and wife. Until one day Crowley disappears. Decades later he meets a man, and finds the love of his life again. Anthony J. Crowley, suave, cool, masculine, in control, unflappable, has spent decades building himself up. He refuses to let his confident facade disappear for Aziraphale, who once almost tumbled down the stairs to certain death because his nose was stuck in a book. It’s just sex, and they’ve been dating for months, this time around. There’s no need to get his knickers in a knot. But the past isn’t easy to let go of, even if you’re both avoiding it. A story about love, intimacy, and finding each other again. (Alternatively: Tender smut, but then I wrote love story flashbacks, and now it's just emotional and there's plot in my pornography)
that's what happens when you sign on the line by Sway (22k) "There we are," Mister Fell emerges once again, carrying a pot of tea that matches the decor on the cups. He pours out two cups, then sets the pot down before taking a seat in the other chair. "So… You are looking for a Dominant, then?" “I’m…,” Crowley gapes a bit, mouth opening and closing around what he isn’t quite sure to say. Mister Fell smiles in understanding. “I apologise. I have a tendency to ask rather blunt questions at first to get a feel for what a potential client seeks. I suppose it’s not for everybody to just… say it.” “I don’t want to think,” Crowley all but blurts then, surprising himself a bit. Maybe it does get easier with time to just… say it. “That’s what I want.” *** Crowley seeks to live out his submissive tendencies, to forget about this job, to give up control. He gets refered to one Mister Fell who is not at all what he expects. But very much what he needs.
Black and White Sunshine by Azira_Amane (58k) "The cotton capital. The Second Summer of Love, the Haçienda. Irwell, Medlock, Irk and Mersey. Elizabeth Gaskell wrote her novels in a lovely little house. Oh. There’s so much to know…" Aziraphale East is, by his own account, a bit of an odd duck - and he's okay with that. He's always been happy in his own skin, in having been a confirmed bachelor his whole life. Everything changes on a work trip from London to Manchester, where he meets the vivacious and stunningly attractive Anthony Crowley. Like the splitting of the atom, Aziraphale is divided - and begins to wonder if it's not too late for love after all. Age, as they say, is but a number.
and @ineffabildaddy wrote some lovely trans!crowley smut for the fic we wrote together (with incredible art by @omens-for-ophelia)
Just Up the Stairs by foolishlovers, ineffabildaddy, omens_for_ophelia (39k) On Valentine's Day, amidst the chaos of handling work and university deadlines as a mature student, Crowley seeks solace with his neighbour Aziraphale. As they share a meal, their long-standing friendship begins to unravel, revealing hidden feelings they've harboured for six months. It's a night that could change everything.

Broken (Part one) (Sidon x Reader)
Around 800 words, sorry it's kinda short.
(Seems everyone collectively agreed the nickname for Sidon’s beloved is “Pearl” so we going with that too)
Warnings: Trauma, scared reader, injured reader, sadness, would this be classified as agnst?
--------
One breath and then another. It took time to cool down after the intense trauma.
It had been 2 weeks since you came home to Zora’s Domain. 2 weeks since you escaped the never ending torture of the Yiga Clan. Two weeks and you were a wreck. But you still hadn’t told Sidon anything yet, in fact you had barely said anything to anyone since your return. Your feelings were complicated and your thoughts were mixed.
—- (Two weeks earlier)
When Sidon saw you passed out on the road, tattered and broken, after being missing for 3 months, he froze. It was supposed to be a short, week-long trip to a nearby stable to help cook for the less fortunate.
When you didn’t return after three days, Sidon sent out patrols and looked for you everywhere. Everyone who passed through was searched and questioned, but no one had even heard of you. The majority of the domain thought you just ran away, wanted to run from the stress of Sidon working all the time. He knew this was not true. He had a gut feeling the entire time that something had happened to you.
After defending you for weeks in the light of day, and then wallowing in guilt in the shade of night, Sidon felt so lost. His world was missing.
So when he saw your body, crumpled and broken, blood dripping from your mouth and cuts all over, his heart broke. He thought you were dead, and you would’ve been if he wouldn’t have rushed you home.
He stayed up all night to make sure you were ok, when he finally fell asleep it was next to you.
You slept for 4 days and by the morning of the 5th day you returned, when you opened your eyes as the sun was just rising, you didn’t know where you were. Sidon was next to you, he had slept there every night. When you saw his face you let out a scream of terror. The next thing you knew your vision went blurry.
“My Pearl- you’re awake- are you ok- I-“
The breathing came fast and heavy. Then the tears began to flow as everything that happened in the past 3 months came back to you. You recognized Sidon, of course, but although you wished it could be any other way, you also feared him more than almost anything in all of Hyrule. But to tell him would be to break him. So you kept silent as he brushed away your tears, flinching at every move and moment.
He held you until he noticed something was definitely off. Your pushing away at his arms got more and more intense and the look in your eyes was not one of love, but one of fear. When he reached over with a trembling hand to brush the hair from your face you stiffened at the touch.
“Are you- you can’t- are you afraid of…me?”
You just looked off to the side confirming Sidon’s suspicions. He backed away from you slowly. “What exactly happened in that time you were gone?” When you stayed silent he followed up with, “My Pearl…who hurt you?”
—- (Current time)
Staring from the balcony of your room, your new room (once your fear of Sidon became obvious they arranged a new place for you to stay), you saw Sidon. He was sitting on the edge of the Domain, crying. You felt awful. After all, Sidon is the love of your life, and after what happened you can’t get close to him without a freak out.
You know that even if it pained you that much, you had to open up to him. Sidon had to know what happened behind the waterfall, even if it broke both your hearts, anything was better than this. You vowed to tell him everything when the moment was right.
(Later that night)
Your screams echoed through your door. Sidon, who had only found comfort in sleeping across from your room ever since your move occurred, heard your tortured cries. He ran to your door and seconds before he knocked he knew it would only cause you ore distress in him being there. This had been a pattern going for the last week. Sidon would forget your condition and then the realization would come crashing back. Everything was eating him alive.
Just a moment later you opened the door, tears streaming down your face. The exact Zora you wanted was looking back at you, tears glistening his eyes just like you.
You slammed your body against him locking the two of you in an embrace. "I'm so scarred Sidon." Your arms trembled around him. "I'm ready to tell you everything."
-------
Not sure if I'm going to do a part two. If you want one (maybe with what happened behind the waterfall and y/n telling Sidon why they're/she's scared?) just request it/reply. Hopefully you enjoyed this, I'd love to hear some opinions!

dany and rhaenyra really couldn't be more different considering dany grew up in abject poverty and rhaenyra was constantly shielded by her status and name. for dany, her name was a death sentence, so they exist in totally different frameworks of what being a “targaryen” even means. it’s this vast difference in upbringing that informs how they rule as well with daenerys giving a lot of attention to how her actions/rule affect the oppressed while rhaenyra doesn’t particularly care about the common people at all!
I'm gonna do what we do at work which is start this out with a lil ground rules corporate talk thing: We assume positive intent as a starting place. I'm taking this in good faith and I hope if anon sees this, they take it the same.
So the first point - that because dany grows up in poverty due to being a targaryen and rhaenyra grows up in privilege due to being a targaryen, that means they are too different and thus can't be compared. Firstly, I think it's just a bit silly when people say stuff like this. Sansa's sexual abuse and isolation at KL isn't somehow less traumatizing simply because she had access to food (food she frequently doesn't eat, because she's traumatized over all the sexual abuse!) nor is Arya's physical abuse in the Riverlands somehow less purely because she had a handful of friends. Catelyn having a husband that loves and respects her doesn't mean that there are not similarities in her raging against the system that has turned on her with Cersei's own rage against the system. There need not be a one to one similarity in order for us to find commonalities in themes and I think this constant "you can't compare those two" just stinks of ~oppression olympics~ but oppression just doesn't work like a checklist and if you experience the required threshold of terror, you "get" to call yourself oppressed in some way.
Moving on, the thing is, both of them experience the emotional and sexual incestuous grooming from an older relative that goes with being a Targaryen:
He pushed back her shoulders with his hands. “Let them see that you have a woman’s shape now.” His fingers brushed lightly over her budding breasts and tightened on a nipple. “You will not fail me tonight. If you do, it will go hard for you. You don’t want to wake the dragon, do you?” His fingers twisted her, the pinch cruelly hard through the rough fabric of her tunic. “Do you?” he repeated.
Daemon spent long hours in her company, enthralling her with tales of his journeys and battles. He gave her pearls and silks and books and a jade tiara said once to have belonged to the Empress of Leng, read poems to her, dined with her, hawked with her, sailed with her, entertained her by making mock of the greens at court, the “lickspittles” fawning over Queen Alicent and her children. He praised her beauty, declaring her to be the fairest maid in all the Seven Kingdoms. Uncle and niece began to fly together almost daily, racing Syrax against Caraxes to Dragonstone and back...Eustace, the less salacious of the two, writes that Prince Daemon seduced his niece the princess and claimed her maidenhood...The whole tale soon came out, in no small part thanks to Mushroom himself. King Viserys at first refused to believe a word of it, until Prince Daemon confirmed the tale was true. “Give the girl to me to wife,” he purportedly told his brother. “Who else would take her now?”
both of them also experience a much older sworn sword preying on their youth and fondness for him-
"What did she look like, your Lady Lynesse?" Ser Jorah smiled sadly. "Why, she looked a bit like you, Daenerys." He bowed low. "Sleep well, my queen." Dany shivered, and pulled the lionskin tight about her. She looked like me. It explained much that she had not truly understood. He wants me, she realized. He loves me as he loved her, not as a knight loves his queen but as a man loves a woman. She tried to imagine herself in Ser Jorah's arms, kissing him, pleasuring him, letting him enter her. It was no good. When she closed her eyes, his face kept changing into Drogo's.
Though many lords and knights sought her favor, the princess had eyes only for Ser Criston Cole, the young champion of the Kingsguard and her constant companion. “Ser Criston protects the princess from her enemies, but who protects the princess from Ser Criston?” Queen Alicent asked one day at court... However it happened, whether the princess scorned the knight or he her, from that day forward the love that Ser Criston Cole had formerly borne for Rhaenyra Targaryen turned to loathing and disdain, and the man who had hitherto been the princess’s constant companion and champion became the most bitter of her foes.
they are both forced into marriages they don’t want to be in-
Dany looked at Khal Drogo. His face was hard and cruel, his eyes as cold and dark as onyx. Her brother hurt her sometimes, when she woke the dragon, but he did not frighten her the way this man frightened her. “I don’t want to be his queen,” she heard herself say in a small, thin voice. “Please, please, Viserys, I don’t want to, I want to go home.”
"No." On her terrace, in her bathing pool, the little fish would nibble at her legs as she soaked. Even they kissed with more fervor than Hizdahr zo Loraq. "I do not love you."
And though His Grace reasoned with her, pleaded with her, shouted at her, and called her an ungrateful daughter, no words of his could budge her…until the king brought up the question of succession. What a king had done, a king could undo, Viserys pointed out. She would wed as he commanded, or he would make her half-brother Aegon his heir in place of her. At this the princess’s will gave way. Septon Eustace says she fell at her father’s knees and begged for his forgiveness, Mushroom that she spat in her father’s face, but both agree that in the end she consented to be married.
and start conflating violence, power, and safety in their minds-
The princess was not slow in answering this charge. She dispatched Prince Daemon to seize Ser Vaemond, had his head removed, and fed his carcass to her dragon, Syrax.
“He would make a monster of me,” she whispered, “a butcher queen.” But then she thought of Drogon far away, and the dragons in the pit. There is blood on my hands too, and on my heart. We are not so different, Daario and I. We are both monsters.
you say for dany her name is a death sentence, but for rhaenyra, being a targaryen is also a death sentence! not to "they very much killed jesus" you here, but they very much kill rhaenyra! if rhaenyra remains a “good targaryen” she is acutely aware she will lose everything, and this is something dany is aware of as well, it's why she reacts so badly to daario's "queens have no purpose but to warm some king’s bed and pop out sons for him" comment about her marriage to Hizdahr. rhaenyra's mother and both grandmothers die before they’re 25 of childbirth. rhaenyra grew up in the same court gael did, that saera did, that viserra did, likely knew the truth of what happened to each girl, and as a woman who is concealing her bastards, all of that has to terrify her. so she stays the “bad woman” the tyrant, the whore, the visenya, in an attempt to protect her children and that gets her killed. being a targaryen has devastating effects on both of them.
as for the differences in how they rule - i’m gonna be honest and say does it matter how they feel if the result is the same?
when they first come into true power, both women are more concerned with getting revenge than they are for settling the unrest-
“How many?” one old woman had asked, sobbing. “How many must you have to spare us?” “One hundred and sixty-three,” she answered. She had them nailed to wooden posts around the plaza, each man pointing at the next. The anger was fierce and hot inside her when she gave the command; it made her feel like an avenging dragon.
...whilst at the Red Keep Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen set about rewarding her friends and inflicting savage punishments on those who had served her half-brother...Henceforth, Celtigar decreed, traitors, rebels, and murderers would be beheaded within the Dragonpit, and their corpses fed to the queen’s dragons. All were welcome to bear witness to the fate that awaited evil men, but each must pay three pennies at the gates to be admitted.
both of them compromise on a stance that is integral to their whole platform-
Dany was shocked. “They want to be slaves?” “The ones who come are well spoken and gently born, sweet queen. Such slaves are prized. In the Free Cities they will be tutors, scribes, bed slaves, even healers and priests. They will sleep in soft beds, eat rich foods, and dwell in manses. Here they have lost all, and live in fear and squalor.” “I see.” Perhaps it was not so shocking, if these tales of Astapor were true. Dany thought a moment. “Any man who wishes to sell himself into slavery may do so. Or woman.” She raised a hand. “But they may not sell their children, nor a man his wife.” “In Astapor the city took a tenth part of the price, each time a slave changed hands,” Missandei told her. “We’ll do the same,” Dany decided. Wars were won with gold as much as swords. “A tenth part. In gold or silver coin, or ivory. Meereen has no need of saffron, cloves, or zorse hides.”
But the Queen’s Hand argued against this, for both girls had younger brothers. Rhaenyra’s own claim to the Iron Throne was a special case, the Sea Snake insisted; her father had named her as his heir. Lords Rosby and Stokeworth had done no such thing. Disinheriting their sons in favor of their daughters would overturn centuries of law and precedent, and call into question the rights of scores of other lords throughout Westeros whose own claims might be seen as inferior to those of elder sisters. It was fear of losing the support of such lords, Munkun asserts in True Telling, that led the queen to decide in favor of Lord Corlys rather than Prince Daemon.
both of them act vindictively and violently towards a low born woman in conjunction with stupid behavior from the violent men they’ve been groomed into loving-
Forgive me, sun of my life, she thought. Forgive me for all I have done and all I must do. I paid the price, my star, but it was too high, too high… “I thank you, Mirri Maz Duur,” she said, “for the lessons you have taught me.” “You will not hear me scream,” Mirri responded as the oil dripped from her hair and soaked her clothing. “I will,” Dany said, “but it is not your screams I want, only your life. I remember what you told me. Only death can pay for life.”
In a voice as cold as ice, she commanded Ser Luthor Largent to take twenty gold cloaks to the Dragonpit and arrest Ser Addam Velaryon. “Question him sharply, and we will learn if he is true or false, beyond a doubt.” As to the girl Nettles, “She is a common thing, with the stink of sorcery upon her,” the queen declared. “My prince would ne’er lay with such a low creature. You need only look at her to know she has no drop of dragon’s blood in her. It was with spells that she bound a dragon to her, and she has done the same with my lord husband.”
and I do think there is some similarity in the way that Dany sacks Astapor and it turns into a nightmareish ruin, and Rhaenyra lets KL fall into ruin as well.
you say rhaenyra doesn’t care about the common people but we don’t get her thoughts nor do we get the thoughts of a single person who is willing to tell the truth about her. both of our reliable sources hate her and mushroom is actively concealing things. we know dany cares about the smallfolk because we get her horror over drogon killing a child - only for her to forget that child’s name and decide the cost of her war doesn’t matter so much as taking her throne. this is the exact same moral justification rhaenyra is making - the safety of the people of KL are an acceptable compromise for her own throne.
what both of them want is less about the crown and more about what it represents to them. for dany, it’s home, belonging, love, safety, the simplicity of her life when it was just her, a viserys who had yet to lose his mind, and an aging ser willem darry. for rhaenyra, it’s the exact same - the simplicity of her life before aegon was born & her mother died, the love in her father choosing her over the men around him, the safety of her children. Both of them reach for violence to achieve those ends because they’ve been taught through a life of violence - albeit different sorts of violence - that force is the only way to protect yourself. And since Rhaenyra ultimately fails in her goal, I believe Daenerys will fail as well. Whether she’s smart enough to pull a Nettles and disappear (disappear not spread more violence ~liberating~ places that are not asking for her help or cultural arrogance) or if she, like Rhaenyra, will find that when she’s reached her limit, when she’s finally and truly lost, the door she thought she left open to escape through has been slammed shut behind her-
But it was not the plains Dany saw then. It was King's Landing and the great Red Keep that Aegon the Conqueror had built. It was Dragonstone where she had been born. In her mind's eye they burned with a thousand lights, a fire blazing in every window. In her mind's eye, all the doors were red.

Thoughts about Martyn Lore stream (Eyes and Ears AU)
-Council as maybe overseers? Managers realistically
-The players dream of other worlds? Noooooo :( sad
-the urge to punch the Watchers grows every day
-yay watchers losing power from emotions carrying over
-headcanon that players leak emotions like a cracked water bottle and the Watchers are not pleased because it's all happy
-headcanon that Martyn, although an excellent source of negative emotions, is like alcohol, where if the Watchers take too much from him, it impacts them negatively, so he's allowed some happy moments because otherwise he would just become like, spoiled food for the Watchers
-fragmented players who are out of more series have their cracks grow while in the void, because that void is also just them being exposed to lots of fear over time. So players who sit in the void are just as in danger of "shattering" as players who play
-love that Villain Scar is just explained as "watchers be watchers"
-Bigb is going insane and I love the gaslighting
-Pearl fell from the sky? PearlescentMOON? Pearl is piece of moon confirmed???? /Silly
-paw patrol is task force, Martyn is absolutely Rocky and I will stand on this hill until I die
-love the idea that Players are also sort of desperate to get back to the games, because negative emotions suck. And when they finish, the Watchers will take those negative emotions away. So it's sort of a relief, in a sense
-about the Google doc; can we have that for references?
-"scar is stuck there until they hit lights out on him" so did they just. Brain him over the head??? Cause that's hilarious
-why two Watchers specifically? Is there a numerical significance?
-Grain cannot visit pocket void sad
-Grian is inexperienced tech noob who doesn't know about coding and is constantly patch jobbing his work, much to the annoyance of his superiors, but to the delight of the devs playing his game who can slip through the cracks and hide stuff
-so the players are picked BECAUSE they know another player? Mmmm
-players going about their work, unknowing of the Watchers looming behind them with a baseball bat and their void spot ready
-name for watcher/listener/council race being Revae (Ruh-VAY or REE-vuh) (weaver reversed with w taken off, reference to their control over the players, also alludes to the word revere), or leave them without a name and just call them the Others as a catch-all? Maybe name could be some sort of play on the word Command (Dnammoc, Namdmoc, etc) (for again, control over players)
-fortnite lore....what????
-HEADCANON THAT THEY GET THE EMOTIONS FROM OTHER SERIES WHEN THEY WIN TO MAKE A BLEEDING CESSPIT OF BAD EMOTIONS
-sonder: the profound feeling that everybody, even strangers passing in the street, has as complex as life as one's own which they are constantly living, despite ones personal lack of awareness of it (I love this wordddd)
-plane void thing should be called the Plane or the Path (reference to the multiple and intricateness of everyone on it) or the Inbetween because thats just a good name for it
-theres no favourites (meat is meat) (if you know you know)
-"no thoughts only murder" says life series players
-i am an author and life series is very good for what could be a real story that is planned, even though it isn't
-the idea of what players are capable as being a stacking effect would be so good as a murder mystery
-HEADCANON THAT BECAUSE MUMBO AND GRIAN SHARE A SOUL, MUMBO GETTING MURDERED BY HIS FRIEND AND PART OF HIS SOUL WAS PART OF THE REASON MUMBO HAD TO NOT BE IN LIMITED LIFE AND GRIAN GOT STUCK (BC time is silly and life series may not have happened as we view them)
Anyways, very good lore

Steven universe future episode 15 "Mr. Universe" starting with Greg and Steven going on a roadtrip to the tune of "dear old dad" and ending with Steven deleting the old yearbook photo off his phone.
I just love this kind of extreme contrast.
the episode starts with Steven genuinely believing that his dad might be able to help him after what undoubtedly feels like an eternity of a confusing and aimless hell for Steven (as having a mental illness tends to be).
Finally, something to help him get better.
Only to realize how terrible he really had it. He says it himself. "I grew up in a van! I've never even been to a doctor until two days ago!" along with how he never went to school on top of that, when Gregs parents, Stevens grandparents, were "right here".
This is the episode that Steven (and also I) realized that while Greg loved him dearly, he was not cut out to be a father. Or at least, he didn't know how to be a father, how to properly care for a child.
Gregs parents were extremely strict, according to Greg himself, and Greg obviously didn't want to be like them, but he overcorrected into the opposite direction: total freedom. But children need boundaries and rules. Not so many as to be suffocating, but at least some structure to learn what was safe to do and what wasn't.
That last part did not exactly apply to Stevens childhood. We never see his early childhood, but from the start of the first show, Steven is exposed to genuinely traumatizing danger over and over and over (as shown in the "Growing pains" episode, where Steven goes to the hospital and recounts all the traumatizing stuff that happened to him to Connies mom, Dr. Maheswaran). Steven knew what was dangerous, but he never seemed to learn what "safe" really was, considering not just Steven himself, but his home and family and friends were often under attack. Not to mention all of the physical injuries he got. Steven never really got away from just about any dangerous situation with "just" a bruise. He could have died, and he knows this. Any danger he's faced has been potentially lethal. This is not healthy, but the consequences only show up later.
But as a child, he either wasn't 100% aware of that fact, or decided to just subconsciously shove it down and not think about it ("not thinking about the bad stuff" is also a confirmed coping mechanism for young steven, as shown in "mindful education", the episode that features the song "here comes a thought"). But young steven only felt bad about the stuff that he couldn't do for others. The bad stuff that happened to himself didn't really seem to register, because there was always something more important going on, and even when there wasn't, no one ever checked in on Steven afterwards. Everyone just assumed he was okay, and that was it. Even Steven himself.
When there wasn't a (usually life-threatening) mission going on, Steven was very often left to his own devices. And that extends beyond just mission stuff. I don't think we've ever seen anyone actually cook for Steven. Whenever he eats, it's either some kind of take-out food, or food he made for himself. And it doesn't seem like a big deal, but it does send the message of "you're responsible for yourself, if you can't take care of yourself on your own, no one will do it for you". Add that and the fact that it was Steven who helped the Gems through their mental stuff (especially Pearl, especially when concerning anything related to Rose), I can't blame Steven for internalizing the message of "you're responsible for yourself and also everyone else (so all you're good for is helping others regardless of your own wellbeing, which is not important)"
And bringing it back around to Greg... Greg never had the courage for any sort of real confrontation. Initially, you can blame his own parents for that, if we assume that any attempt for Greg to properly assert himself was only ever met with more abuse than he was already subjected to by them. However, while the blame is not with Greg himself, as an adult, he is responsible for healing from that. But he didn't, and the consequences of this trauma are still there. Greg lived without any ability for serious confrontation and asserting himself by just... running away. He ran away from his parents with the van. And while he tried to reconnect with them later on with the letters, those letters were never opened. Greg probably never recieved a response from them, and he most likely didn't even visit to check on them, if the letters ever even arrived. Whenever there was gem-stuff involved, he ran away (quite literally), and in Steven Universe Future, when Steven crashed the van? He tells his son that he's proud of him for "telling him off", because he's glad that his own son can tell him anything.
Steven is distressed by this reaction. A lot.
And it's this reaction that tells him that Greg can't help him.
It's just such an odd reaction. You crash your dads van and he tells you he's proud of him? I mean what kind of reaction is that? You'd expect to be reprimanded. Or at least be asked something like "what the hell was that? Why did you do that?" But Greg didn't. He didn't confront his own son after crashing the very van he's built his life with. The only thing Greg did was make sure that Steven was alright physically.
And the next episode? The gems do reprimand Steven, but what for? For endangering his dad, who is a "fragile human". There was little to no concern for Steven himself. No "What was going on" or anything, just a "what were you thinking?" as if Steven crashed the van on purpose, which he didn't.
Steven never recieved any boundaries to keep him safe, and the only other family, the one he was actually living with, the Gems, most often left him completely alone unless there was a mission to complete. Steven mainly cared for his own self in his day to day life. He even seemed to do his own laundry a lot of the time, he was the one making sure he was fed at age 13 and up, likely also the one to make sure he had a personal hygiene routine. While we don't know about that last part, Greg wasn't living with Steven, and while i don't doubt he taught his son about personal hygiene, it was up to Steven himself to enforce it. If 13 year old Steven didn't feel like brushing his teeth some days, would anyone have made sure he did it anyway?
And what about education? We know Steven knows how to read and write and probably the basics of math as well. He knows the basics of what he needs to know, either taught to him by Greg or by Pearl, but anything beyond that? Physics? Chemistry? At least some basic science?
And not just education itself, school is also important to socializing, getting to know people of your own age group. Living at the temple, Steven was pretty much isolated. Sure, he knew people in town, but i don't think we ever see them actually visiting him, or him visiting anyone else just to hang out. And even when we do, it's pretty rare.
The closest thing Steven had to a friend his own age was Onion, and Onion is, well... he's Onion. And shown to commit legit crimes more than once. And Steven is often shown to be kind of scared of Onion, or at least uncomfortable around him. He takes it in stride, but I'm pretty sure if Steven ever thought about it properly, he would probably say that Onion freaked him out. Plus, Onion is much younger than Steven, seeing as Steven should be around the same age as Sour Cream (since they were both babies around the same time, though SC is probably a year or so older than Steven still).
Everyone around Steven was either his caretaker (who weren't very good at their job as proper guardian) or an acquaintance at best and likely unaware of what was going on with Steven at home.
Steven was isolated and neglected in vital parts of his upbringing, the best the gems did was making sure he didn't die, and Greg was no longer reliably around to make sure everything was alright, unless Steven came to him. And Steven was the one to take care of his guardians in their critical moments.
And still, Steven was a "good" child. He took care of his own physical human needs, with no one around to make sure that he did. When something bothered him, he took care of it himself. When others were bothered by something, Steven took care of them, too.
Even in battle, he tried to resolve everything peacefully when he could. When he couldn't, like with the corrupted gems, he fought when needed, to the best of his abilities. The more his powers came in, the more missions he could go on (the more time he could spend with the gems who were his family).
He made himself useful, not unlike a weapon: to be drawn when needed, and put away when not needed.
But he's not a weapon. He's an alive being with needs, emotional and physical. But the gems didn't seem to realize that. Greg wasn't properly caring for him like he should have. In the episode where Lapis steals the ocean, Greg even asks "is this what every mission is like for you, Steven? Because I'm not sure I'm comfortable with you going on these anymore." (i think he was interrupted then, but that's pretty much what he said) Greg doesn't know what happens on these missions, and even when he expresses his dicomfort with his son being put in danger, nothing actually happens to make that stop. Stevens physical needs were taken care of by himself. His emotional needs were often disregarded, not only by the gems, but by himself as well.
He made himself small, bottling up his issues and not bothering anyone with them.
And everyone else just... let him. Just let that happen. Steven was fine, right? If he's not calling for help, then everything must be fine, right?
The gems and Greg only ever started to say something in SU Future, when it was pretty obvious that Steven was no longer alright. When the problems became harder and harder for Steven to hide.
And even when it was obvious that he wasn't alright, Steven himself kept insisting that he was fine, because he couldn't be not fine, he had to be fine, because he couldn't help others if he wasn't, and if he couldn't help others, then what was he good for-
In "Growing pains", when Steven goes to the hospital, Greg is actively forced to confront his son and assure him that he'll help, that he's there for him, and they will figure this out together. And things seem to look up for Steven. Well, until the next episode, when Greg shows him the solution that helped him when he was younger. When that didn't help Steven though, Greg tried to push it on him again. When Steven lashes out at how Greg messed up with caring for him, Greg completely fails to see it and keeps saying how Steven had "actual freedom".
But too much freedom isn't much different from utter neglect.
And even when Steven crashes the van, Greg still fails as a parent. Sure, Steven is alive, but he refuses to confront his emotional wellbeing, the real problem. Greg Universe runs away again. Like he did from any gem-related issue. Like he did from raising Steven as soon as the gems took over. Like he did from his own parents.
And because of this, he would never be able to help his son. He could never teach Steven how to cope, because Gregs only way of coping seemed to be "run away from your problem". But Steven could only run from his problems for so long. He bottled his problems up and internalized them, but that bottle was always gonna burst sooner or later, and then what? Steven couldn't run from himself, because wherever he went, he would always be there.
His own father couldn't help him.
The gems couldn't help him.
Literally the only adult who was able to give him any sort of help was Dr. Maheswaran, and even then, all she could do for him was identify the problem.
Steven was on his own.
But it's not like he was dying or anything, so he was fine, right? As long as he wasn't dead, he was okay, he could take care of himself and everyone else like he's always done.
He always took care of everyone else.
So why were they leaving?
Why were they moving on without him?
Why are they leaving him behind? He's been good, hasn't he?
And even when he messed up, he always fixed things, didn't he? Always!
He fixed things! That's what he does! He's Steven, the one who always helps everyone and never needs help himself, but if they were leaving, was he really a good child? Was he really helpful?
But if he wasn't helpful, then... what has he been doing all this time?
If helpful Steven wasn't helpful, then he could only be a fraud.
No... no, he could always find a problem to fix! And if he couldn't find one, he would just have to create one! As long as he could create problems, he would never run out of problems to fix, right?
As long as he just keeps messing up and creating problems-
Wait...
No...
That's not right...
If he's creating problems, he's not helpful...
He's a monster.

Almost all the reasons Daemyra stans hate Dattles are the same reasons they should hate their own ship.
Similarities between Daemyra and Dattles.
They both have cheating. (Daemon is married to Rhea Royce when he starts to pursue Rhaenyra. Despite this a lot of Daemyra stans like to use the excuse that at that point in time Daemon and Rhea were having “problems.” When Daemon starts to pursue Nettles he is married to Rhaenyra but just like Rhea, he and Rhaenyra are having “problems.”)
They both have an age-gap. (While the age-gap between Daemon and Rhaenyra is less than the age gap between Daemon and Nettles, but we must remember however that when Daemon first meets Nettles she is by Westeros standards an adult, whereas Rhaenyra wasn't.)
Children
Then there are some who say they don’t like Dattles because Daemon had children specifically with Rhaenyra during when all of this was going down. These children being Aegon III and Viserys II. This troubles people because they worry how that would affect Aegon and Viserys's view of what a healthy relationship let alone a marriage should look like.
But the same people neglect the fact that (at least show wise) not only do Daemon and Rhaenyra's actions (Rhaenyra having an affair with Harwin while being married to Laenor, Daemon being at the very least a emotionally unavailable husband to Laena and a neglectful parent to Baela and Rhaena ) but also their marriage (them getting married so quickly after the death of their respective marriage mates and in Rhaenyra’s case also her lover) could have very well given Jace, Luke, Baela and Rhaena an unhealthy view of what a healthy relationship should look like.
Grooming
Rhaenyra and Daemon:
He gave her pearls and silks and books and a jade tiara said once to have belonged to the Empress of Leng, read poems to her, dined with her, hawked with her, sailed with her, entertained her by making mock of the greens at court, the "lickspittles" fawning over Queen Alicent and her children.
Eustace, the less salacious of the two, writes that Prince Daemon seduced his niece the princess and claimed her maidenhood. When the lovers were discovered abed together by Ser Arryk Cargyll of the Kingsguard and brought before the king, Rhaenyra insisted she was in love with her uncle and pleaded with her father for leave to marry him. King Viserys would not hear of it, however, and reminded his daughter that Prince Daemon already had a wife.
"When he looks at you, he sees the little girl you were, not the woman you've become," Daemon told his niece, "but I can teach you how to make him see you as a woman."
He began by giving her kissing lessons, if Mushroom can be believed. From there the prince went on to show his niece how best to touch a man to bring him pleasure, an exercise that sometimes involved Mushroom himself and his alleged enormous member.
Daemon taught the girl to disrobe enticingly, suckled at her teats to make them larger and more sensitive, and flew with her on dragonback to lonely rocks in Blackwater Bay, where they could disport naked all day unobserved, and the princess could practice the art of pleasuring a man with her mouth. At night he would smuggle her from her rooms dressed as a page boy and take her secretly to brothels on the Street of Silk, where the princess could observe men and women in the act of love and learn more of these "womanly arts" from the harlots of King's Landing.
Viserys at first refused to believe a word of it, until Prince Daemon confirmed the tale was true. "Give the girl to me to wife," he purportedly told his brother. "Who else would take her now?" Instead King Viserys sent him into exile, never to return to the Seven Kingdoms on pain of death.
Nettles and Daemon:
Maester Norren writes that "the prince and his bastard girl" supped together every night, broke their fast together every morning, slept in adjoining bedchambers, that the prince "doted upon the brown girl as a man might dote upon his daughter," instructing her in "common courtesies" and how to dress and sit and brush her hair, that he made gifts to her of "an ivory-handled hairbrush, a silvered looking glass, a cloak of rich brown velvet bordered in satin, a pair of riding boots of leather soft as butter." The prince taught the girl to wash, Norren says, and the maidservants who fetched their bath water said he oft shared a tub with her, "soaping her back or washing the dragon stink from her hair, both of them as naked as their namedays.”
To which his brother answered, "It may be we shall be destroyed whatever choice we make. The prince is more than fond of this brown child, and his dragon is close at hand. A wise lord would kill them both, lest the prince burn Maidenpool in his wroth."
All we know is that the maester, a young man of two-and-twenty, found Prince Daemon and the girl Nettles at their supper that night, and showed them the queen's letter.
"Weary after a long day of fruitless flight, they were sharing a simple meal of boiled beef and beets when I entered, talking softly with each other, of what I cannot say. The prince greeted me politely, but as he read I saw the joy go from his eyes, and a sadness descended upon him, like a weight too heavy to be borne. When the girl asked what was in the letter, he said,
'A queen's words, a whore's work.' Then he drew his sword and asked if Lord Mooton's men were waiting outside to take them captive. 'I came alone,' I told him, then foreswore myself, declaring falsely that neither his lordship nor any other man of Maidenpool knew what was written on the parchment. 'Forgive me, My Prince,' I said. 'I have broken my maester's vows.' Prince Daemon sheathed his sword, saying, You are a bad maester, but a good man,' after which he bade me leave them, commanding me to 'speak no word of this to lord nor love until the morrow.’ ”
No word of farewell was spoken betwixt man and maid, but as Sheepstealer beat his leathery brown wings and climbed into the dawn sky, Caraxes raised his head and gave a scream that shattered every window in Jonquil's Tower. High above the town, Nettles turned her dragon toward the Bay of Crabs, and vanished in the morning mists, never to be seen again at court or castle.
That Prince Daemon died as well we cannot doubt. His remains were never found, but there are queer currents in that lake, and hungry fish as well. The singers tell us that the old prince survived the fall and afterward made his way back to the girl Nettles, to spend the remainder of his days at her side.
+Bonus
[As to the girl Nettles, "She is a common thing, with the stink of sorcery upon her," the queen declared. "My prince would ne'er lay with such a low creature. You need only look at her to know she has no drop of dragon's blood in her. It was with spells that she bound a dragon to her, and she has done the same with my lord husband." So long as he was in the girl's thrall, Prince Daemon could not be relied upon, Her Grace went on. Therefore, let a command be sent at once to Maidenpool, but only for the eves of Lord Mooton. "Let him take her at table or abed and strike her head off. Only then shall my prince be freed."]
—Rhaenyra about Nettles.
Conclusion
Personally whether or not someone ships either of these couples is up to them. I however can’t stand a hypocrite, and I’ve noticed that’s what a large percentage of Daemyra stans are especially when it comes not only to Dettles but Nettles as a whole.
And I especially as a black woman, can’t stand the misogynoir that I've seen Team Black (and Green) display when it’s comes specifically to the black/blackish women in House of the Dragon.
Tumblr media
This was eloquently put 🙌🏽 I’ve got nothing to add except my praise, I love how you have shouted out Team Green's antics cause they also b!tch and moan about how it makes Daemon a villain(and not all the other crap he’s done) to choose Nettles over his psychotic racist wife.
I too didn’t really care about Dumbnyra, its stans, and its sympathizers until they started going off on a hate campaign against Daemon and Nettles.
Very unserious bunch of racist morons who think they can get away with calling Black/Blackish women the n-word:
Tumblr media
Yes, that was directed at Laena, but it's only a matter of time before Team I don't want Nettles to be on the show, and if she is on the show don't let her be a Negro, goes calling Netty the n-word too for “ruining” their Appalachian mountain realness ship.
Or throwing a temper tantrum because a canon character, who despite their best efforts to ignore her existence or bash her, is all but confirmed to be in the show:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Don’t get me started on Team Green who are populated by white feminists who believe themselves to be morally superior when in reality they are just as racist as Team Dumbnyra or bust when it comes to Nettles and her relationship with Daemon:
Tumblr media
(The irony is not lost to me how they point out Rhaenyra’s racism then proceed to treat Nettles like a toddler or sometimes even defend Rhaenyra’s racism because she’s a woman🤪 Black women shouldn’t be in romantic relationships in their minds)
Or those upset because they can’t use Nettles (like how they wanted to because in their mind she’s only there to show how evil Daemon is to their white sister) to dunk on Daemon:
Tumblr media
I can't take these people seriously when they complain about Dattles and label it problematic while they ignore their ships problems.
Alysmond(still love you, but I’ll drag some of the white and non-Black fans who are suspect), Rhaicent, Helaemond(aka Hellmanns), and Dumbnyra are all equally if not more problematic than Dattles.
(I have a mini rant on this in my drafts that I’ll post this weekend).
Their anti-Black misogynoir is clouding their views on Daemon and Nettles.

I want to talk about my least favorite kind of ship in terms of writing but SPECIFICALLY on a meta level. If that sounds confusing, don't worry it will make sense by the end. (Also, I might be using the terms incorrectly anyway, so if I am, please correct me)
I would also like to make it very clear. I DO NOT DISLIKE THE SHIPS I WILL BE USING AS EXAMPLES! I have two examples I'll be using that I love to no end, but this specific aspect of both of them pisses me off.
Be warned, long post under the cut.
Anyway, let's get into it.
I hate ships that are just on the edge of being canon but aren't fully there.
Now, what do I mean by almost canon?
One of the ways I like to categorize ships is by how canon they are. (This is by no means the only way. It's simply the way I'll be using for this post.) A ship can be 100% canon, 0% canon, and anywhere in between. To be clear, how canon a ship is does not affect its quality. Plenty of fully canon ships are hated, and plenty of non-canon ships are loved.
With this metric in mind, the specific type of ships I hate are the ones that exist between 90% and 99% canon. I have come to call the "Occam's ship." And the two examples I have of this kind of ship are Togachako and Pearlina. Let's start with Togachako.
Togachako is the ship name for Himiko Toga and Ochako Ururaka from My Hero Acadamia. Initially, this ship was simply a "what if" for people to have fun with. The only piece of canon evidence for this ship was Toga in episode 108 (I think. It's been a while since I watched the anime, and the wiki isn't very helpful) listing Ururaka as one of the people she loves alongside Midoriya and Stain. This, alongside Toga being confirmed to be bi/pan, helped push this ship into notoriety. Also, Horikoshi draws a lot of artwork of Toga with Ururaka in ways that could definitely be read as romantic.
So far, nothing massive is going on. If I had to assign a number to it, I'd say this ship was at 30-40% canon. (There's no math here. I'm just throwing out a number that sounds right.) Then Toga and Ururaka's most recent fight happened, with chapters 393-395 of the manga causing the most stir. It gave us lines like "I want to give you my blood for the rest of my life," "I envy your smile," and of course, "Am I cute?" "The cutest in the world." (I'm paraphrasing a little, but you get the picture.)
Suddenly, this ship rockets all the way into Occam's ship tier. This is a Shounen manga. The leading man and the leading lady are supposed to end up together. But suddenly, we get a confession of love between the leading lady and the main female villain. And that's what pisses me off. Because at the end of the day, this isn't a confession of love. While the simplest explanation of these chapters is that they are in love, without an explicit confirmation, Horikoshi could very easily pull the rug out from under us. Because even though the most obvious answer is that they are together, until they actually are together, there will always be that nagging thought in the back of your mind reminding you what kind of manga this is.
Now, I said I had two examples, so let's move on to Pearlina. Pearlina is a ship involving the idol duo Pearl Houzuki and Marina Ida from the Splatoon franchise. Initially, these two were in a very similar situation to early Togachako. A few bits of dialogue here or there do not a canon ship make. But as the franchise continued to grow, more evidence began to appear. From the mock interviews with both characters, to the chat logs and cutscenes in Octo Expansion, to most recently a lot of the conversions and details in Side Order, these two were becoming more canon by the day.
But, at the end of the day, their not canon. At least, their not confirmed to be canon. At any point, Nintendo can simply make a statement, either in game or on social media, that Pearl and Marina aren't dating, or see eachother as sisters, or are actually in relationships with other characters. Without that confirmation, there's just enough plausible denyability for Nintendo to undo everything they've built.
"So what?" I hear you ask. "If a ship being or not being canon doesn't affect the quality, why do you care?"
At the end of the day, I think the biggest factor in this whole thing is investment. I want to get invested in these ships. For ships that are 100% canon, I don't need to get invested. All I need to do is sit back and enjoy. For ships that are 0% canon, my investment is my choice. If I care about this ship, it's because I want to. But when a ship is that close to being canon without that last bit of confirmation, it almost feels like the writers are begging me to get invested with committing to the relationship themselves. They want the benefits of the relationship being canon while still leaving themselves room to back out if they want to.
Maybe this post is a bit rambling, and maybe this is just a me problem. But I just really needed to get my thoughts out there for others to see. So, if you made it to the end of the post, thank you.

[A/N after a long time I'm trying to post a fic on tumblr again, so bear with me :D gotta remember the steps...]
A werewolf AU with a sprinkle (a blizzard) of lavashipping because there is nothing else in my brain. Hopefully with a touch of mystical mystery! I'm trying to give it my own twist :]
Synopsis: On a simple quest to retrieve a few scrolls from an abandoned library, Cole and Kai get swarmed by a bunch of wild wolves. Lucky for them, their injuries aren't life-threatening. Unlucky for everyone, they begin to pick up strange new habits. And nights with moonlight crowning the night sky become sleepless.
Warnings: graphic depictions of violence! gore? I think it could be enough to be called that. food consumption issues...
Cross-posted on ao3 and wattpad!
[chapter 1 word count: 1185]
I. Hunted
Except for the path they followed, the forest was thick with lush trees. Their needles rustled as Kai and Cole pushed the branches out of their faces. Twigs snapped under their feet, almost muting the sound of their breathing. The forest was silent as if it was holding its breath. Something about the quizzical atmosphere made even Kai quiet down.
Funnily enough, it was Cole who broke the silence, despite being the one welcoming it with open arms any other time, “All right, am I the only one who thinks it's weird there's literally nothing? Shouldn't there be birds and deers, does, and fawns, and stuff?”
“We probably just scared them off.”
“We would hear that, though.”
“Jeez, Cole, what's your problem? At least there's no trouble.”
“It's weird.”
“You're weird.”
“And you're even weirder.” Despite the lack of any echo, their voices seemed to rumble through the whole place, almost shaking it like an earthquake. Cole was certain they were not being obscenely loud, although the forest seemed to disagree. They wrecked the stillness of the place like a thunder. Something about it made his nerves tingle, made all his hair rise, while he could not spot anything remotely dangerous. All he knew at the moment was that they had to get back to the others as fast as possible and get away from the strange place as far as possible.
Kai snorted, about to poke fun at Cole, who just caught his arm and made them both come to a stop. “Did you hear that?”
“For the sake of spinjitzu, Cole–” Rolling his eyes, Kai turned around, only to freeze on the spot. His eyes were glued to another pair of eyes staring right back at him. The forest was not significantly dark, they arrived around noon, yet the wolf’s eyes still seemed to glow. Cole did not hesitate to follow Kai’s stare.
“How did we not…?”
“Because you were too busy complaining that there's nothing !” It was probably not the best time to be glad about Kai’s volume coming back. But hearing his usual intense tone brought a sense of familiar comfort.
“Calm down before you freak him out!”
Until he felt claws sink through his clothes into his skin, Kai had no idea there were more than one. When he managed to get the second wolf off himself, he learnt that they were not only surrounded, they were absolutely outnumbered. And even when there were so many that Kai could not even see Cole anymore, more and more wolves still seemed to be coming. Kai tried to fight them off but all that did was help them get his skin torn until he felt his blood dripping all over his body as if he just got out of a bloody shower.
“Cole!” he yelled over all the growls and barks and snarls to no avail. All he could see was silver fur and their sharp pearl white teeth and claws. Their eyes seemed almost dead despite the shine but the burning of his wounds was more than enough to confirm that they were, in fact, very much alive and bloodthirsty.
Their bodies kept smashing into him, knocking the wind out of his lungs until he was not even able to call for his teammate. To top it all off, all the sudden noise gave Kai a headache, as if there was not enough piercing pain. If he does not stand his ground, it all might as well be over.
After throwing off another one with a growl of his own, Kai noticed a living pile at the bottom of which surely must be Cole. It was the exact scenario replaying in his head whenever one of his feet lost touch with the ground.
And it couldn't be good, especially once he heard a pained cry that was unmistakably Cole’s. A cry that haunted his days and nights.
“ Cole! ” He had no time to ponder over the fact that there was zero echo, as if they were in open space and not surrounded by hundreds of trees. Once again there was this burning feeling inside his chest threatening to swallow him whole from the inside until he redirected it into his hands and onto the wolves. The pain mixed with frustration was blinding.
Physical strength was not going to be of any use, however, fire was a very effective way to fight his way out. Soon their growls changed into yowling and their numbers went down as they ran back into the trees where they came from. Kai began firing at the pile over Cole with no mercy for the animals until they were all gone and burning and slowly the forest fell silent back again. He didn’t worry about where the animals had gone, once his vision cleared again, all of his focus was on Cole. A habit that surprisingly did not get him killed yet. Although it got close a few times.
“Cole.” Both of their gis were torn into shreds with blood seeping all around, getting easily lost in their respective colours. Kai dropped to his knees next to Cole and as carefully as he could, turned him around. For the sake of his sanity, he tried to mute out whines and avoid looking at the raw wounds but one called for his attention nevertheless. Cole was clutching his shoulder with blood running all over his arm and when Kai finally pried his hand away to check it, he saw a bite mark. Most likely the reason for the yell.
Kai never had an issue with seeing blood and all kinds of wounds, he was used to administering first aid, it was all a sole part of his life, however, the thumping of his heart and all the adrenaline rushing through his veins and seeing Cole covered head to toe in blood made him sick to his stomach. He never should have tried to ignore his gut, the forest was weird and they had to get the fuck away from whatever was going on in there before they get tangled into another huge mess.
Ironically, it was supposed to be a quick and simple mission. As per usual.
He should have known better. Now Cole was clenching his jaw shut in pain. Lucky for them both, he didn't have to struggle with his sleeve for too long to tear off some to tie the wound. It should be enough for the quick walk back to the rest of the team.
“Where the fuck did they come from?” Cole muttered, his breath rigid. He had only on eye opened to stare at Kai.
“No idea.” Kai took his not-really uninjured hand and helped Cole get back up, supporting him to continue on their way. “Come on, we shouldn't be far from the others, we'll get you patched up.”
“You need patching up yourself, you look like a mess.”
“A hot mess, baby. Come on.”
Cole spat out some blood. “I am so going to murder Jay for this.”
“Well, we are a team, so I gotta help you with that.”

Okay, I finally have time to rip chapter 6 to shreds (and I’ll pretend I’m not physically vibrating about chapter 7 based on implications).
Anyway, let’s start with something I realised like 2 days ago and have been losing my mind about since: Wilbur isn’t wearing his ferronnière. His reasons make sense. He only wears it to symbolise his status and everyone who will be going with him, will know who he is. We also know from the semi canon prequel one shot that he is terrified of loosing it. (And I don’t know if he still has that Pearl thingy on his head, but I feel like getting thrown of a cliff in the dark and the snow might have made him lose it if he did have it.)
Which brings me to the thing I’m losing my mind about. Wilbur is stuck and trapped somewhere outside of the palace without his ferronnière! Meaning that if they get found by random people, they are obviously wealthy, but have no way to prove their exact status. Tommy hasn’t really been announced as heir, he’s not wearing anything to mark him as more than a duke’s son. And Wilbur does not have his one symbol on him.
Also, did you have to give him confirmation that he doesn’t get recognised without it. You had one of the bandits brush the hair out of his face! They would have seen it and known who he was if he was wearing it! But no! And they don’t know who he is! [“Who’s the other one?” The man questioned. /“Tutor?” The woman paused. / “Hm, he seems a bit young for that.”]
Also, [“A brother, maybe?”] way to subcontiously put the idea in their heads. This is a pattern btw. At least the same happened in Glass (I think) someone else brings up the bond first. It’ll be interesting to see if that mention sticks around. Depends on how much they’ll bond. I can’t really say how close they will or won’t get until I know how big of a traumatising adventure it will be.
P.s. Did Phil see his son off or was he out that early, because Wilbur is not wearing the ferronnière and we’ve seen Phil’s reaction to that before but I’m interested to see how different this would be.
(1/?)

while you're very right about the boys having no way to prove their status to outsiders, there's also the question of if anyone outside the palace even knows the significance of the ferronnière period. all the nobility in Arestes know it's meaning, but common people who don't even know what their king looks like outside of other's descriptions of him? yeah, the ferronnière wouldn't do much in this situation. at least not this far from Castle Pandora
however, they are very clearly members of the nobility. meaning it's obvious the boys do hold some power. so there's that at least..
but yeah the bandits wouldn't really have given a shit if he was wearing it. I only meant for the ferronnière to be a symbol of recognition within the court/nobility/palace that whole scene. common folk like those bandits would just see it as more impractical rich people jewelry. though they would probably take note of the Royal Sigil and recognize that it means something. they just wouldn't know what it means.
as you can tell I have a fondness for making other people mistake wilbur and tommy for brothers before the two form that bond themselves
I don't think phil saw them off (I haven't actually decided yet so this is subject to change) but he wouldn't care about wilbur not wearing the ferronnière. tbh if he were to see them off and wilbur had been wearing it he probably would've told him to take it off because he wouldn't want wilbur to lose it
