Ace: *whispering* Didn't that feel too comforting?

Deuce: *whispering too* It's the recognition and validation of an adult.

Ace: What's wrong with Yuu?

Grim: *happy* They has been told that they will start being a student with me!!!

Yuu: *with a dead face* Great, I'm going to fulfill the dream of every recent college graduate… Back to high school

Translation from Twisted Wonderland the 2nd novel: Meeting Jamil and Kalim (pt2/3)

"‘Information gets around quickly.’

‘We just so happened to hear about it. May we bother you for the details?’ In response to Riddle’s inquiry, Jamil narrows his eyes.

‘Why do you want to know?’

Despite Ace managing to ease the tension, it seems that Jamil has put his guard back up again.

Cater steps up alongside Riddle with a reassuring smile, as though to say, ‘leave this to me.’

‘To be honest, we’re acting on order of the Headmage. Heartslabyul uses the cafeteria kitchens to prepare for tea parties now and again, y’know? He told us to follow up to make sure that there aren’t any issues with it. It would be perfect if you could just let us know what went down when you got hurt.’

‘…all right then.’

Jamil does not look entirely convinced, but he seems to have concluded that he has nothing to hide.

He nods, and begins recounting the events of the previous night. ‘It was around 8pm last night. Kalim asked me to make him a snack, so I was frying lamb dumplings. They can have a rather strong odor…that is why I came to the cafeteria.’

‘What the—that sounds delicious…!’ Grim is drooling.

Kalim leans forward.‘It’s true, Jamil’s fried dumplings are the best! Come over and try them next time!’

‘Really!?’

‘Grim, come on—this isn’t the time for that.’ Deuce scolds Grim, and Jamil breathes a sigh.

After waiting for quiet, he continues.

‘…it was night, and there were no ghosts in the cafeteria. While chopping ingredients alone, I cut my hand. Not deep enough to require stitches, but it’s more than a surface wound, so I have been told not to move it too much until it heals.’

Jamil raises his bandaged hand. There is a large piece of gauze between his thumb and index finger.

‘Looks like it hurts,’ Ace winces.

‘Rather careless for someone as skilled as yourself,’ Riddle observes, looking at the injury. ‘Were you tired out from preparations for the Spelldrive tournament?’

‘No. I wouldn’t make a mistake like this because of something like that.’ Jamil’s response is firm, and Kalim proudly adds, ‘Yeah! Even our head chef marvels at Jamil’s knife skills. And it’s not just fried dumplings, everything he makes is delicious—I love it! I’m always looking forward to the lunches he makes for me.’

‘…oh! So that is why the two of you are in the cafeteria today.’ It can’t be easy for Jamil to cook with his hand like that.

Kalim frowns in response to this observation from Riddle, his shoulders drooping. ‘Yeah. Jamil says it’s no big deal, but I’m worried and want him to heal soon.’

Jamil listens without the slightest change in his expression. He seems very calm and mature, perhaps because he is sitting next to the extremely expressive Kalim."

Spoilers for Chapter 7

I don't know why, but I've been having this thought on me recently on the differences between how Grim and how Malleus are reacting to someone they care for leaving.

I find this so unbelievably interesting. GRIM of all people (creatures?, monsters?) While very clearly sad, is accepting of the situation? One of the most selfish, obnoxious, and most childest characters in the game.

When Grim is confronted with the realization MC/Yuu will be physically no longer in Twisted Wonderland he basically says "this is not their home, I want them to be happy with their family"

When Yuu leaves, he will be alone. He may not even be able to continue going to NRC. They are two halves of a whole. He may quite literally have to give up his dream. Aside from Ace and Deuce he may be completely alone.

And yet what does he say? "I won't keep them here."

Malleus on the other had, well....

I understand Malleus and Lilia's relationship is more of a father son, guardian child, and he is technically still very young to fae standards, but still...

We know that despite the "air of nobility' Malleus exudes, he is actually VERY childish. He pouts, teases every chance he gets, and gets a kick out of messing with people (scolding sand event, with Grim comes to mind). And yet Malleus is basically "you cannot leave me, I do not allow it. Just go to sleep and everything will get better."

Malleus and Yuu, in my opinion, was not actually that of a real friendship until the end of book 5. I know they met very shortly after the year began, and many dialogue options lead us to believe they actually spent quite a lot of time together. But for a lot of the official story line, Yuu does not even know his real name. He refuses to tell them. I know he may consider Yuu his first real friend, but a real friendship cannot be founded on secrecy and lies.

I have a few more thoughts, but I need to move on.

Like, I know their relationships (From + Yuu, Malleus + Lilia, Malleus + Yuu to an extent) are not the same, but I still find it interesting.

One understands the reality and accepts it, while the other is actively fighting it and dragging everyone else down with them.

One willing to see the truth despite how hurtful it can be and another trying desperately: nay clawing, scratching, and bending over backwards for it to not be real.

A painful truth vs a blissful lie.

It is heartbreaking to watch them try to keep together in their own way.

Self aware au mini story. (Twisted wonderland. Part 1)

(Just a little scenario if Song gets teleported into twisted wonderland through the app game itself. Enjoy!)

Song groans opening her eyes, whining softly as she felt herself slowly wake up in a bed and sees a celling that looked unfamiliar to her. Sitting up she felt sunlight hit her face, when she looked in the mirror- Song froze, her white eye going wide seeing herself in a room that didn't belong to her, but someone else she knew that wasn't supposed to exist. "W-What the...?" She looked around and she was right, she was in Ramshackle, specifically in the ramshackle dorm that belonged to Yuu, the mc of the game. But why the heck was she here? Was she dreaming? But... This feels so real though. She felt her heart stop hearing the door open and quickly turns her head in fear and covers herself back up, she was still in her pajamas, but she still felt nervous. Suddenly she hears someone gasp softly, making her freeze at the sound so slowly she peaks her eye out from under the covers and her heart starts to pick up seeing familiar yellow amber eyes with blue hair floating about, the boy who looked familar to her holding a tablet in his hand, but there were also bags under his eyes, which made the girl concern for she knew just who the boy was. "I-Idia?" Song couldn't help but say his name as she slowly moves to show herself, making the boy drop his tablet, causing it to hit the ground crack, causing Song to shout in alarm but before she could say anything she suddenly sees Idia rush over and hug her in a tight grip, making her yelp and flinch and stare wide eyed feeling how warm Idia was. "...You really are awake.. Oh, thank the sevens, we thought... I thought I messed up." Idia whispers, burying his face into Song's neck, making the girl only get more confused. "You wouldn't wake up for almost 2 hours and-" "H-Hey..." Song stutters, feeling really nervous and pulls away from Idia, a little scared and nervous, which made the Shroud look in worry at the sight before realizing it and quickly pulls away as she heard her speak. "U-Um... W-What... Am I doing here? Am I... Am I dreaming of all this?" Song asks Idia, who tilts his head in confusion before it hits him, right, of course she would ask that, after all this place is just a whole game world, obviously she would ask that question. "It's... Kinda hard to explain..." Idia says before grabbing his phone hearing it go off. "Ah, it's him." He suddenly says before grinning at Song seeing her look curious. "Him? W-Who are you talking about?" Song asks Idia who lets out a chuckle, surprising Song and felt him pet her head, she didn't understand why Idia was suddenly so easy to talk to right now. What happened to his shy self? "Malleus, he's been trying to ask if you were awake yet along with the others... Ugh, to be fair it's annoying me seeing how they want your attention even though you just managed to get through to this world without exploding into little bits of data." Idia said, making Song feel her blood run cold but the dorm leader didn't notice as he continues to smile at Song. "Well, none of that matters now... You're here, and we'll make sure you live a better life now that you are in twisted wonderland."

Yuu: Don't say another word, I've got enough on my plate.

Crewel: Let's get together once in a while after class, it'll be good for you.

Yuu: Thank you, I could really use someone who isn't a mess of hormones.

Crewel: *putting a hand on their shoulder* My condolences.

Yuu: The food is good!

Ace: Of course this a prestigious school!

Yuu: And it's free!

Deuce: A-are you ok?

Yuu: *almost crying* I won't have to break my head thinking about what to eat every day.

Yuu: So the students are separated into dorms according to their abilities?

Cater: That is.

Yuu: My 10 year old self is shaking.

Cater: ?

Yuu: I'm in a magical school separated by houses, suck on that reality!!!

Riddle: Rules must always be obeyed!

Yuu: *sarcastic* Yes, of course, because people in positions of power always follow the rules.

Riddle: The world works because of the rules!

Grim: Are you the gardener?

Yuu: Grim!! this kind of work is very hard, *to Leona* you must be very tired, I apologize.

Ace: All our work!

Yuu: *with an empty stare* Yeah, you know, all your hard work and dedication thrown away, like this cake.

Ace: *to Deuce* Are we going to become like this when we grow up ???

Trey after explaining Riddle's past

Yuu: This change can only mean one thing… I don't know if I'm ready for this... but as an adult I have to take care of it…

Grim: ??

Yuu: * to Riddle* I know you're going through a difficult time, it's normal, but it's also natural. We all go through these changes in our body

Ace and Deuce: That's not !!!!

Yuu: Isn't that puberty in the magical world?!?!!!!

Trey and Cater: NOOO!!!!

Yuu: *after seeing Riddle's flashback* Someone please bring the little boy a strawberry cake.

Riddle: *apologizing and saying everything he wanted to do*

Yuu: That's it, get me on that mother, let's have an adult to adult talk.

Crowley: Yuu no.

Yuu: I'll show her what respectful parenting is NOT.

Riddle: I want to apologize for what happened.

Yuu: Oh, don't worry, it's okay, although I still don't get that magic thing.

Riddle: It was childish behavior.

Yuu: …

Riddle: I wish I could be as mature as you.

Yuu: Hey, don't be in a hurry to grow up. That adulthood thing is a scam, you never feel mature enough.

Riddle: But-

Yuu: What matters is not to be more grown up in certain situations, it's to learn from them and take a note for the next one. And even if I seem more mature as you say, I'm just as lost as you are in some things, don't let anyone fool you, adults don't have everything under control.

Riddle: Thank you…

Yuu: And let me give you some advice, the family tree can also be pruned.
