Another anon here! I think this is really a great discussion so i wanted to join. My reply: really? Because in my head even though damon and emory are important, there's always a hierarchy of who was more important.

it has always and will always be like this. And i think this hierarchy decide things i'll talk about. throughout the whole series i believe this hierarchy is enough for me to convince me that even when damon was dragging him through the mud or was gone, i didn't ever think that will was going to die, because at his lowest, the MOST important person that he reached out to in his heart, his brain, his soul to survive for, was emmy, be it whether she's around or not. When he said that "nothing gets me out of bed" line, i genuinely believe that Will already made it clear that no matter how low his life was, Will Grayson's lifeline was Emory Scott. Not Damon Torrance, Not the Horsemen, not even his ownlife. But Emory Scott. So the only way for him to die, if it's caused by nature disaster or substance abuse, not because of damon's lack of presence in his life. Will needed an apology, not da on as his lifeline. The only person who needed damon as a lifeline was winter. Not will, never will. I think this is very important, because the comment you made KO could veer into fans' headcanons rather than author's canon, because canon never happened like that. In canon, damon relied on will, more than the other way, and damon had to go to extreme measures to keep up will with what he wants.

Idk, when you guys put it like that where BOTH of them are so important to will without any distinction who was more important, it sounds like emmy's number 1 position in will's life looks watered down, and it did take away a lot of important point of who will was, and who wants to be, and with whom he wants to be with the most that pushes him to live his best life and do best in everything. i understand the sentiment of damon being very important to will, but damon was never and will never be will's lifeline and bottomline. You guys maybe see this in a very twisted way in damon's pov because he fucked up, but we never got to see will's pov so that's why i never made much comments of how true will's pov match with damon's, because will lies to everyone ALL THE TIME. The only person he never lied to was emmy, and he definitely was sly af, and got away with a lot of things, even around his bff damon.

So i'm sure we wouldn't see the story in that scene (or in other scenes of them together really) the same way if will was the one narrating it, because 1. he was always aware of what he or damon want from each other, 2. that damon wanted to control him (even via sex), and 3. the fact that will used damon as much as damon used him, both to not just not feel lonely, but to feel like they are powerful and have control of their own narratives. But unfortunately for will, damon's good at mindfucking, but not at doing things in reality, and that's where damon's character fell short, where he was more bark than bite, so if you're caught in his altered reality instead of what actually happened, you're fucked. anyway, The only difference is that while damon never called him out for will's behaviour of using people maybe because damon wasn't sorry for others and especially himself, emory did. Many times too. Even called out will alex for using each other, but how did rika see willalex? "Taking care of each other". Right. I bet they were high more than they were sober enough to "care" for each other, to the point where even will can' t fucking stand it anymore and had to keave for blackchurch be cause he was tired of that shit. Damon himself said in conclave "will had alex, but she was never what he needed". It's clear that damon knew WHO will needed, but he never realy understood what emmy was neeeded FOR in will's life, only willemmy knows.

Now onto alex, Alex "needed" will, but what kind of will did SHE needed? Not the will who wanted best for himself, the one that he envisioned that emmy would want for him, or to be with or for everyone especially will, but the "selfxdestructive" one so that alex can feel cool about her own wrongdoings. Just like damon. damon needed will to have ANOTHER person to have control over, where will can only be happy and not grown up, even when time and time in Will's pov he told us how much heeded to be and to everything like mmy, so like emmy wth will. Will can only be one image of whoever damon and alex wanted him to be, but with emmy and himself, he could be everything, because emmy was the only person who gets it. More. Better. Looking forward to changes, and still goes through highs and lows in life with him. And this version of him was what made me truly believe that Will wouldn't ever die just because damon or alex was not around. I cannot imagine it. It doesn't tally with canon. The same goes where michael would mourn for his best friend, and especially kai, but he wouldn't die because kai was not rika. Rika was his lifeline. Emory was Will's lifeline and vice versa. Even though michaelkai is not damonwill but i'm talking about the sentiment of it. So even people like damon torrance can look like a wronged person because emmy's pov of judging others usually have more rationale and less bias because of "feelings", which took her longing to make decisions.

Damon was will's heroine, someone who enables him, makes him feel less lonely and someone who had to go through EXTREME measures like controlling him through words and sex to get will do what he wants. And this was also why i was glad emmy didn't open up to damon in high school because if she was friends with damon then, her result would be just like michael and kai in corrupt, or if she had sex with him and get along with him, damon could use her like how he used will when it's convenient for him. I hate the thought of it because mmy genuinely deserves someone to be by her side without complications and people who would manipulate her or throw things in her face and make her feel indebted about everything, and that was damon in high school, even until kill switch. Damon was not ready, and that damon wouldn't be useful to emmy. This is so opposite of emmy who didn't have to do anything much but still had so much chokehold on will simply because their way of viewing and wanting the world match in everything. Meaning will loves his life THE MOST when she's part of it because their well-matched in every aspect, and not just his dark side.

I'm 100% sure, if emmy was with will from the start, alex wouldn't even be close to will, and nor can damon have much impact in his life. So what does that mean again? Emmy was still the most important, his usurper, and his woman that her presence can change the way he views everything the most, and it's the same way for her, because the only time she loves life was when she was with him. Her heart was gone when he was gone. This came back to the hierarchy thing. I understand though how characters like will who had experienced worthlessness could be having a really big suffering moment, but surely not till the point he died? That's illogical and a bit nonsense to me considering damon was his best friend, and not his partner in everything. Like i said, doesn't match canon will, because canon will was deceitful and cunning. Only emmy truly knows him. Not to mention how damon's pov was always warped too so while there was some consistency to what he said and do, but not much when it comes to willemmy, i guess because he actually did like them. And i think part of the reason why damon might get possed off in nightfall was also because he was slowly accelting emmy and willemmy, and SHE was the one who rejected his friendship. Good for her though, or else, she'll be just like michael and kai on that pithom ship. Not rika, but michael and kai.

Idk, i think in this fandom, we're always giving damon too much credits for everything, especially when we see that in DAMON's reality, while will is very important and someone that he wants to control and love, in will's pov, will had only really cared to that level and more was emmy. Of course ofc ofc he cared about damon the most among his friends, but he had made it clear many times that only emmy had the most authority over his life (and how will too was the same for her hence why martin used him to get to emmy) I think we really need to give some credits for what he acknowledges about himself and the people around him in his pov. There's a clear distinction there, especially coming from will who lies to everyone and everything except emmy. Even damon didn't know the full version of him simply because he's his best friend, and there's a limit to that narrative. KO, do let us know if you have any differing or similar opinions to this BECAUSE I AHVE BEEN WANTING TO TALK ABOUT THIS WITH SOMEONE SINCE FOREVER OHMYGOD 😭😩 it pisses me off for so long that people always put damon and emmy on the same leve, of importance when it was what happened in canon. In canon, everyone just assume everything about will, we never knew anything until we get to nightfall to his pov. I remember even kai didn't know he was like this in that gazebo conversation extra. He only thought it was because of damon being gone and whatever happened on pithom. No, that was his last straw, but he was already on a long suffering journey, even BEFORE all that happened. But even then, will was still alive, because the person he held on hope to survive wa snot damon, but emmy.

KO please please please lets talk about this! I love this conversation so much! I'm open to opinion! Might be my second or third conversation here aside from your past asks of damonemory's bond and willemmy's foundation in their relationship.

P/s: I hated damon when he called damon "bitch who treated him like trash" and i still haven't forget and forgive him that.

So, I want to make a clarification.

I agree with what you’re saying.

Between Emory and Damon, Emory was the most important person to Will. Even when Damon was around, Will still got high and drank. I’ve previously said this was, at least in part, because of the pain he was feeling because of losing Emory. Losing Damon compounded that pain.

When I say that “Will would have died if Damon hadn’t come back” it’s not because I think Damon is more important than Emory, it’s literally because Will got clean after Damon came back. My opinion is that Damon provided him with the strength need to get clean, possibly because he wanted to take steps towards reuniting with Emory. Or just being better for his friends. Either way, he knew he couldn't continue that way, and more importantly, he wanted to be done with the drugs.

Even Damon acknowledges that while he and his friends were able to get Will clean, they weren’t able to get Will sober. I’ve discussed potential reasons why before, but regardless, it’s also around this time that Will learns about Emory’s letter and then it all goes to hell for him. Whether he had plans of reuniting with Emory or not, he now “wanted” revenge.

So, if Damon hadn’t come back and Will hadn’t found the a reason to get clean, while also being ignored and enabled by his friends, yeah… he could have accidentally overdosed. Or he could have driven while intoxicated. Or he could have gotten into harder drugs. There’s so many things that could have happened if Damon hadn’t made it a focus to help Will get clean, whatever Will’s motives for doing it were.

But none of that negates Emory’s importance to Will.

To summarize, it's not that Will was actually going to die simply because Damon or Alex wasn't around. But if things hadn't improved, Will would have continued to decline without Damon, and more importantly, Emory.

It could have also been that Damon refusing to come back would have also lit a fire under Will, and he would have done it all on his own anyway. He clearly wasn’t as weak as the others thought he was. The problem is Alex dragging him down.

So the only way for him to die, if it’s caused by nature disaster or substance abuse, not because of damon’s lack of presence in his life.

I hope what I said cleared it up. I think we’re all talking about Will dying because of substance abuse. The general thought being, the abuse getting worse because of the absence of both Emory and then Damon.

side note: Can you imagine the abuse after Will learned about the letter. Emory lied about him raping her, and Damon tried to kill him. I’d have hated to see what those two thoughts would do to him if he weren’t clean. So glad we didn’t have to.

It’s true that what I said, and most of what I say, is just headcanon. I think that Will and Damon were a bit co-dependent, but I do agree it was Damon more-so than Will.

There’s a reason Will spiraled even harder after his best friend tried to kill him. Michael and Kai had this conversation in Hideaway. Will needed Damon. But Damon is co-dependent with nearly everyone he meets. That’s why he has control issues.

I think one of the most telling things in their relationship was the moment towards the end in the pool house scene when Will was basically like, “this is all you can do, isn’t it?” And how Damon doesn’t know if he’s right.

And it doesn’t really matter who was right, because at the end of the day, Damon loved Will in his own way. Will never denied loving him, but he was teetering between loyalty and survival with Damon. Whatever Damon did, that would make the final decision.

I don’t think Will was always aware of Damon’s habits, but I think between the years of Corrupt and Kill Switch, he probably was able to analyze their friendship enough to come to that conclusion.

I think this is an interesting point. Damon, in my opinion, changes directions very easily. He hated Emory when Will was hurt, and when Will was angry, and when she had the ability to take Will away from him. But in Conclave, after they’d started the process of getting him clean, he knew that Will still loved and wanted Emory, so he no longer held that vengeance for her.

Damon said “Willemmy Lives” before any of us even knew the ship name.

Meaning will loves his life THE MOST when she's part of it because their well-matched in every aspect, and not just his dark side.

And I 100% agree with this. If, for some reason, Will and Emory had reconnected soon after the events in Corrupt, or had never separated at all, then Alex wouldn’t have stood a chance. She wouldn’t even be a character in the series because Will would have never even looked twice at her. Additionally, while Damon nearly killing him might have messed him up for a while, Will would have recovered much faster to stay with Emory. Not that she would have left him for PTSD or anything, but he would have had his Emmy, so he would have dealt with it better.

Damon does get too much attention, especially since half the time he’s doing very basic stuff.

And I like this thought. Damon thought about Will a lot more than Will thought about Damon, even in the past scenes. Sure, Damon was there, but thoughts of Emory always followed closely, if not directly related to her.

We can talk about it all you’d like. Though won't I don’t always have something insightful to say. I really hope my clarification earlier helped.

Just to reiterate, it’s not that Will would die because Damon didn’t come back to him, or because Alex wasn’t around. Just that if Damon had continued to antagonize him, and Alex continued to enable his bad habits, he would have declined even farther and eventually overdosed, or some other horrific accident. However, there’s no disputing the fact that it all started with Emory, because Emory was what he wanted the most.

"Why don't you come sit on my lap?"- dan torrance

summary: you and Dan need a way to pass the time, and thankfully, being invited to a friends, family, and neighbourhood gathering is exactly the perfect way.

tws: swearing, mentions of a TINY bit of teasing, a bit of jealousy/possessiveness

Dan had been working hard for a while, the hospice was seeing even more cutbacks and budget issues than usual, and it was harder and harder to make sure that the work was done properly when the staff were both overworked and underpaid and abused by family members who wanted more but wouldn't listen when Dan and his colleagues told them that they were literally doing everything that they could; when his boss suggested that he take a holiday when things quietened down, though, you practically forced him to take the opportunity, so he did, he took the week holiday that they could offer - all paid.

It started out just fine to begin with, you would lounge around in the flat, go and see Abra and her parents, you would go and see John and Billy, it wasn't half bad; Dan was quite happy to parade you around like a trophy boyfriend, and you were more than happy to indulge him, too. But such bliss wouldn't last forever, and by the middle of the week, you were both getting rather bored, really; you weren't really sure what to do with yourselves, as there was only so many times that you could do something before you got bored of it and it started to feel like routine.

So when Abra's mother said about a party that they were holding for friends, family, and their neighbours while the children were off at someone else's house for a sleepover, you and Dan saw no reason not to go.

The sun was shining, there were free drinks - ranging from energy drinks all through to the fancy cartoned juice that was too sugary for anyone -, free food of every and any kind you could imagine; you and Dan gingerly took a seat at the metal table in the shade, where it was quietest and where you could sort out what you were going to do.

"You good?" You asked, putting your hand on his thigh when he started to bounce his leg.

Almost immediately, Dan's hand was on yours and holding it tightly as he nodded and smiled. "Yeah, just... they said there wouldn't be booze, but..."

"Should I go double check with David?" You tilted your head to the side.

"If that wouldn't be a pain," Dan muttered, giving the palm of your hand a quick kiss before he let you leave him. He watched you talk with Abra's father for a moment before you turned around and, approaching him, you put your thumbs up. "I take it there isn't?"

"Nope," you shook your head, leaning against the table with your arms folded across your chest. "But there is them little sandwiches - you know the cunts, the ones with the cream cheese and cucumber and shit."

He smiled as he nodded, trying not to laugh as he reached into his pocket and brought out the packet of cigarettes that was definitely holding more than it should have. "Why don't you come sit on my lap? We can have a smoke and then get something to eat."

You dragged the ashtray over before you sat yourself on his lap, your back against the arm of the metal chair and your legs swung over the side as you let him light you a cigarette and pass it to you. "We should probably talk to the other people here, y'know."

"Maybe in a bit," possessively, he draped his arm over you as he took a drag from his own cigarette. "I'm not sure if we know many people, though."

"I saw Doctor John on the way in," you mused. "He was with his wife. We could always just stick to them."

"I dunno," he sighed. "Do you really wanna talk about disease for an hour?"

"He's not that bad!" You chuckled, shaking your head. "At least, not when he's in a good mood."

Dan laughed along for a second, the grip that he had on you tightening a little when he noticed that someone, one of the neighbours he supposed, was looking at you. Even without using his shine, he knew that look, he knew the hunger behind it. "One of the neighbours thinks you're not mine..."

You perked up a little, looking around for a moment. "Who?"

"Not sure," he shook his head, but when you moved so that your back was against his chest, his hand falling between your legs and just shy of your cock, he smiled. "Are you trying to put on a show?"

"Nah," you leaned into him. "Not yet, anyway."

"Dan!" John called, raising his hand as he waved.

Dan groaned, pressing his forehead against your shoulder. "Are you ready?"

"I'm ready," you laughed softly. When the doctor gave you a quizzical look, you shrugged. "Long night."

"I see," John nodded, taking up a chair. "Anything interesting?"

"Just the heatwave," Dan replied, pulling back and flashing a smile. He liked John, he really did, he was a close friend - but sometimes he was a little too much at once. "Where's your wife?"

"Oh, she's just getting our drinks. (y/n), how are you?"

"I'm good," you clenched your jaw a little when Dan's hand moved up slightly. "A bit, uh, a bit hot and bothered but otherwise good."

rp pet peeves / deal breakers : writing underage muses but being gross about it ( oversexualization, sexualization in general, extreme focus on shipping / romance when they’re like children -- aging up just to ship / smut, etc ), being an elitist ( in whatever form, either with aesthetics, muse’s canon, the whole comic / book > film / show bs. ), toxic shit ( cliques, bullying, trying to collect people, etc ), anon hate or vaguing. and godmoding / metagaming / etc.

muse preferences fluff, angst, or smut : given jane is still a minor ( even though i do think often about her as an adult, etc ) i do not engage in any s3xu4l content on this blog specifically. i do love angst, but also like breaking down canon events in thread form, writing out the actions characters take against a partner is usually super interesting as well as making really sad plots :)

plots or memes : it’s honestly a lot easier for me to engage with someone with memes because it’s something i can just immediately jump on and run with. plotting is great, but often times i find a lack of interest to actually discuss indepth or one party is contributing more ( and sometimes it isnt me tbh but i do love coming up w. ideas we’re all just scared of rejection )

long or short replies : i can get pretty winded, but honestly i try to make sure it’s necessary the length. though i do try to match at least the paragraphs of my partner i’ve been trying to be okay with either one reply shorter or one reply longer. just feeling the flow and writing what i think is appropriate. quality / having fun > quantity !

best time to write : oh boy it’s usually whenever i can, these days it’s either early morning ( 7 - 9 am ) to like late evening ( 10 - 3am ) but honestly the muse strikes when it strikes.

are you like your muse(s) : in a way, yes. there has to be that initial connection, source to tap into for me. though everyone can pretty much right anyone, i feel it’s more engaging for me personally if i can tap into a character’s feelings. though i can hardly relate to jane’s experiences in the lab, i can understand the feelings and try to tap into it that way. i think the muse i connected with most has been her, dan torrance and carl grimes because of their rough childhoods and having to grow up in traumatic conditions. writing them has actually helped me throughout the years with coming to terms w. my own trauma.
