Gamora’s origin story is a Tony Stark episode that looks to focus a bit on Valkyrie? Interesting…

Wonder what Gamora is doing there.

The little Chinchilla is adorable.

Tony with the nicknames (“Technicolor Dream Coat” is a Andrew Lloyd Webber musical reference) is hilarious

Also, Tony building a suit that reforms into a race car on command, and back, is AWESOME

Turns out, Tony inspired Gamora to be a hero.

Gamora melting Thanos, did not see that coming.

Ep5- “…Captain Carter Fought the Hydra Stomper?”

Cool Avengers team; with Carter and Janet instead of Steve and Banner.

It’s kind of what if 2012’s Battle of New York went differently. Then we pick up kind of CATWS but it’s Peggy and Nat.

Peggy’s spin-twist was really cool.

The whole reverse-CATWS but instead of Bucky gone bad and Steve finding out, it’s Steve gone bad and Peggy finding out.

Bucky as a Secretary of State? Did NOT see that coming. But makes sense that Bucky would be the one to try to bring Steve back. Truly a reverse CATWS.

The Stomper Suit keeping Steve alive, I wonder how.

Carter’s hilarious Star Wars reference to carbonite.

Also, the camera panning around Steve and Peggy, is a mirror of the Tony/Pepper one in Endgame.

Melina being part robot is also kind of creepy.

Captain Carter having a musical is hilarious too

Also, the emotional vibes kind of veering into CACW and “Black Widow” territory is quite fascinating.

Peggy disappears thru a portal, only to be greeted by Wanda.

Ep6- “…Kahhori Reshaped the World?”

Ragnarok comes early…

Also, this episode isn’t the first time we see the horrors of Spanish conquistadors invading on native land; we last saw that in Wakanda Forever a few years ago.

But when the Watcher narrates the context, it mirrors the Black Panther movie’s narrative about how the Vibranium came to Earth and ended with the peacemaking between various tribes.

Also great to note that this is the first MCU entry where nobody, except the Watcher (and Stephen Strange at the end) speaks English.

It’s really awesome that the Space Stone energy gives the people from the Sky World (who are formerly Mohawk natives from Earth) and Kahhori very, VERY interesting powers.

KAHHORI MOVED THE PORTAL TO THE LAND!! That is an insane amount of power and strength! That’s wonderful!

Kahhori and her people sinking the Spanish Armada is a sight to behold.

Ep7- “…Hela Found the Ten Rings?”

Hela suddenly being able to speak Putonghua was a surprise.

Odin says that the bearer of Hela’s crown be merciful, which explains why Hela is at first unable to lift it. Just like the first Thor movie.

I kind of wonder why Wenwu would invite Hela to wear a traditional dress; but more importantly, why does he have one ready?

MORRIS RETURNS!! Best fuzzy thing.

Hela visits Talo.

Folding paper. That’s basically Origami. IRL history has it that China has its own paper folding traditions long ago, just like Japan, but separately.

Hela being upset that Fenrir as a puppy was taken from her, is something interesting too.

Asgard, a realm of Norse legend, and Ta Lo, a fictitious Chinese fantasy realm, coming together to free the cosmos, is something I did not see coming.

Ep8- “…the Avengers Assembled in 1602?”

Tom Hiddleston as Loki narrating Hamlet? Not surprising.

Wanda summoned Carter from three episodes ago, and turns out Thor knew about this here.

But what are those portals? Wanda warns to stop them.

Wanda speaks of a lost traveler…

Tony says “Forerunner” but the caption says “person”.

Loki speaking of William Shakespeare writing about Iago in the play Othello.

Rogers Hood. Hilarious combo of Steve Rogers and Robin Hood.

Rogers and Carter double-teaming with the shield is really cool.

Also, why is Hogan a hulk in this episode? He was one in the Christmas episode but this one?

Turns out the Forerunner is mainMCU!Steve?

The main effect is that Carter is alone again.

Strange Supreme makes an appearance. Which we leave on a “TBC” for next episode. The fact that he went to fetch Kahhori in Ep6 must mean something big is in the finale…

Ep9- “…Strange Supreme Intervened?”

Interesting; we get the full MCU theme for the title card. We never got the full theme in previous episodes.

Peggy speaks with Strange, who keeps dangerous beings inside their own little crystals.

If the Watcher is a metaphor for us, and Strange implying that the Watcher may not always be right, that means that we might not also always be right about certain things.

Peggy enters South Dakota… where Red Skull (HYDRA) exploded the Tesseract. But why would Kahhori be a danger to the Multiverse, considering Strange net with her last episode? Why is she considered a danger in this one?

Also, Kahhori now speaks English. Not odd, per se, but it helps. She says Strange is “a universe killer.” Which, in some way, he is.

Also, a dragon from Ta Lo, which kinda sells the point.

Hela being insulted that Kahhori sent the swords back is hilarious 😆

Peggy gets an Infinity Armor is pretty to cool. Also, Peggy and Kahhori vs Strange? That’s also really cool.

Peggy gets sent back to her home, but it’s an illusion, and she sees right through it.

Though, playing with the lives of so many people to face Strange, that’s a weird effect, perhaps meant to be “comedic” in a way, but comes off as cruel, which might have been the more intended effect.

Also, the characters falling to the portal just basically overpowering Peggy with their weapons? It’s very interesting because it’s not overpowering her for no reason, she NEEDS to be overpowered to stop an already over-powered Strange. She needs to be MORE than him to win.She gets Hela’s crown, a large sword, and multiple other weapons, while Kahhori uses her powers to lift Thor’s hammers and also uses the Ten Rings. Both Peggy and Kahhori MUST be overpowered to overpower Strange and stop him.

Strange becomes a huge devil monster and falls into the Forge.

Peggy goes to the Watcher.

S2E9 ending exactly as Loki S2E6 did, that’s interesting.

WIP WEDNESDAY - 21/06/23

(I mean it’s technically Friday now between timezones and spoons but have this otherwise I’ll keep forgetting) My first WIP Wednesday! Thanks @theviridianbunny for the tag! I’ve been really getting stuck into modding - as well as falling into my usual mod habit of ‘start like six project at once and end up with a million WIP files' but I guess I’ll talk about the major ones.

Graphic design is my passion ...

(Long) rambling about mods I'm making + things I've learned below the cut~

My V’s tatt project is still ongoing, and I’ve (somewhat begrudgingly) been trying out Substance Painter to work on bits of it, mainly polishing seams between UV maps. It’s definitely got a lot of benefits, especially for graphic placement in really tricky areas (like anywhere in the entire head mesh region for example) but I still think a lot of the heavy work will still be done in Photoshop so I’ll probably be writing up both experiences with them when I do that tutorial I keep hinting at for complex tatt work. I’ve started drafting a tumblr tutorial but I wonder if that’s the best format, maybe a PDF? Google doc? Github wikis look cool? (tho I think I need to pay for that) - if y’all got suggestions for tutorial formats pls let me know!

As for the other arguably overly-ambitious-project-where-I-bit-off-more-than-I-could-chew ...

Hair has been the bane of my existence for about the past week( ... weeks? Maybe two?), most of it involving cursing, a lot of reverse-engineering game meshes and smashing my head against blender. But if not already evident from my monowire post - I am a stubborn bitch with too much time on my hands so even though there were at least two moments where I wanted to curl up on the floor under my desk and just stay there - we got there.

This all started because my favourite hair mod which I cannot split from my V’s identity was acting funky and the shape of it had been altered since a physics update. It wasn’t her anymore. So I needed new hair. I tried editing the existing hair. I tried importing the old hair mesh. I tried so many things and they didn’t work out one way or they threw a million errors or there were an obnoxious amount of verts.

I even tried looking for replacement mod hair. None of them fit, all of them felt too ‘clean’ for my V. So I just concluded: FINE. I’ll make my own damn hair. From scratch. At least then I’ll actually KNOW what’s going on with the mesh, right?

Problem with hair is tutorials are very limited in respect to Cyberpunk, so I had to learn a lot of this by myself and looking at other processes used for building game hair. I’ve had a previous stint in game design at uni but it was very introductory and more broad-strokes concepts not specific stuff like what ‘real time hair’ is and how you actually go about placing hair-cards (there’s a million different ways btw) but after another 3 days smashing my head against blender I finally got shit to work to a satisfactory level using hair tools for blender and the particle hair grooming system (not the 3.5 blender system, maybe more on that at some point).

Putting together the hair cards I was 120% convinced this was going to blow up in my face, primarily through vert count. But this hair tool plugin? Alarmingly efficient. I was frequently checking my work against Alt's hair mesh (one I was planning on rigging to) and here's the final-ish stats -

This is with only Alt's hair mesh selected (no cap) and then only my mesh(s - lots of layering to build it up), and by comparison I felt I'd built up the density of a chinchilla. This is not a brag, this is mostly genuine confusion over how efficient this plugin is, all I did was smack around hair curves. It did all the UV mapping junk on the fly.

Although structurally complete, I still consider this a WIP (yes I know there's a reeeeal fun vert funkiness in that second render, it's been fixed) since I'm having to go back and fine-tune some of the UV's the plugins mapped that I'm not happy with and generally figuring out my density problem because if anything, after putting it in-game it felt too dense.

Because yes, somehow I got it in game.

WITH. PHYSICS.

This may have driven me absolutely up the wall between having to learn blender from scratch then what the heck real time hair is and how that works etc. etc. but ... god, seeing her move back from the mirror and just feeling that instant catharsis of 'IT'S HER!' made it so. Damn. Worth it.

It looks too thick - this might be because I chucked in the 'doubled' feature Wolvenkit comes with because I hadn't spent any time doing backfaces. But it also might be because it's black? That's going to need investigating.

The physics need a lot of work too, I did a pretty rushed weight painting job last night on a merged version of the mesh because I was worried whether it was even viable and I'd already dumped an insane amount of hours into this between trying to salvage the old hair and building a new one (with some more bells and whistles. Mainly - curly). That wasn't without it's issues -

This almost fucking cracked me, given this was one of the issues I was experiencing before trying to fix an existing mesh mod. Turns out I was just being dumb and forgetting to export the armature, which I'd thought I wasn't supposed to do after having blender throw a bunch of errors on other hair attempts. I gave it a try after one last shot and boom. Worked. (I dunno what those errors were about man but now I know armature? very important).

Will I release this hair? no damn clue, depends on if I can get it to a level I feel is 'releasable'. I already know what I'm calling it though - Venatrix her side-handle I've decided on.

I look forward to adapting it into maybe a comb-back version, as well as a tied up version, so I can show off both her undercut + have the option of NOT hiding every damn tatt I've obsessed over placing on her neck haha.

In other news -

My much-needed wacom tablet replacement arrived (as well as other things I was looking forward to 👀) meaning my Wacom Cintiq, workhorse of ten years can finally enjoy her retirement. Her controls were getting funky, she had a few dead pixels but man. I'm convinced they won't make them like her ever again. Either way she's done unfortunately - upgrading my monitor to 2k made this painfully obvious. I don't think it's even running in full HD, it's that old. And with Phantom Liberty coming out this year? I'm probably going to need a new videocard and DVI compatibility isn't really a thing anymore.

So for future I think I'll just stick to the basic tablet set up, invest in screens. Also now I FINALLY know what her hair is gonna look like and with the tablet here, I can get back to work on the tattoo bodysuit.

Anyways, that's it for now! (Jesus Christ did you really read all of this? If you did you're a fucking trooper). Sorry for the extended ramble but MAN I did a lot, I needed to yell.

🛒 What are some common things you incorporate in your fics? Themes, feels, scenes, imagery, etc.

Uhhhh throughout the many first I've written I would say found family is the biggest running theme? Especially if it's found siblings. But also the idea of grieving someone who's still technically there. Sometimes more literally than others. Or feeling obligated to grieve someone you never knew because of a connection you were supposed to have had.

...... now that I think about it that second theme links directly to when I became disabled so ig I was working through some stuff.

🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?

I usually put on a heavy metal Playlist! It's rap/indian folk metal not heavy but my favorite band is actually Bloodywood (I love the song "Dana Dan" but that has some heavy themes.) More specific songs that aren't all metal are "in the year 2525" by Zager&Evans, "Inle' (the black rabbit of death)" by trick or treat, "from the pinnacle to the pit" by ghost, and "little girl gone" by chinchilla.

🛠What tools/programs/apps do you use to write?

I write mostly in the app Notepad Free on my phone, then edit on Keep My Notes in a different font/background & text colors.

Animal Crossing Fish - Explained #228

It's time we covered Chip and CJ, two beavers who hold the Fishing Tournaments in the AC franchise. Let's get into it!

Chip there on the right is an older beaver who has held the Fishing Tournaments in the AC series since the very beginning all the way until ACNH when his son, CJ, took over. Chip and CJ both host the Fishing Tourneys in Pocket Camp off and on. These special events allow players to fish and win great items they can't get any other way.

Beavers are in Class Mammalia - they have hair, are warm-blooded, and most importantly, feed their babies milk produced by an adult's mammary glands. Within this Class is the Order Rodentia, the order of rodents, which make up about 40% of all mammal species. However, I find that a lot of people confuse what is and isn't a rodent quite often - it feels like people classify something as a rodent as long as it's really small and furry (which is a mistake and we'll get back to that). Rodents are characterized by a single pair of continuously growing incisors on the upper and the lower jaw. If a rodent doesn't have anything to gnaw on, those incisor teeth can actually grow in dangerous ways and kill the animal if not treated. That being said, here is a short list of animals I hear people call "rodents" when they're not:

Bats - are NOT rodents. They are not "flying rats"; they are more closely related - and have almost the same dentition - as your dog. As primates, us humans are way more closely related to rats.

Moles, hedgehogs, and shrews - are NOT rodents. They belong to a separate Order between us and bats called Eulipotyphla.

Oppossums and possums - are NOT rodents - they are marsupials.

Rabbits and hares - are NOT rodents (they're Lagomorphs) but at least you were close, as they're sister groups.

Who is a rodent? Beavers, capybara, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, squirrels, marmots, chinchillas, etc etc etc. Many of these animals listed are common pets with relatively short lives. Despite their size and lifespan, they are a lot of work and are a commitment, so don't get one if you're looking for an "easy pet". No such thing.

So, yeah, "small and fuzzy" isn't a trait all rodents share. Beavers are some of the largest rodents in the world, with large individuals growing to about 70 lbs. (32 kg). They are not small.

Despite the way Chip looks at fish and alludes to the fact that he'll eat your fish when you aren't looking, beavers irl don't actually eat fish at all. Beavers are strictly herbivorous and feed on a wide variety of woody and aquatic plants. Despite the diversity of rodents, there are only 2 species of beaver in the world - the North American (Castor canadensis) and Eurasion (Castor fiber) beavers. Both species look very alike, so it's anyone's guess which exactly Chip and CJ are. Nevertheless, beavers boast one of the thickest and softest fur of any mammal, which wasn't great for them, as many populations were hunted extensively for the fur trade. Luckily, beavers are still considered Least Concern, with the both species having wide ranges across their home continents.

Beavers, like quite a few of their rodent cousins, like the capybara and muskrat, are semi-aquatic and are great swimmers. They have webbed back feet and can stay underwater for 15 minutes. They use this skill to their advantage by using water as a place to hide from their predators.

The most incredible thing about beavers, though, is their engineering skills. Although not every beaver will build a dam, they have the skills and the tools (their teeth) to do so. And once they do, they create new wetland habitats I spoke about in this Museum Tour entry. Misconceptions about beaver dams are common, no thanks to the media image of the beaver. As I said before, not every beaver will build a dam - if they find a spot that provides quality swimming area and food, they're just as happy in a burrow on the water's edge. Beavers also don't live in the dam - that structure is actually to dam up a river and create the pond they use for protection. A beaver lodge is another structure all its own where the beavers live, have their babies, and hang out during winter (they don't hibernate). One structure can exist without the other. The lodge often has its entrance underwater so only the beaver family can get into the lodge. Beavers, though happy to munch on a great variety of plants, are actually picky about which plants are used for building and which ones are for eating. And last but not least, and certainly not exhaustive, beavers don't use their tails to build - the tail is for swimming, storing fat, and communicating with their family and other beavers. So, no, they don't use their tails to deliver or spread mud while building their dams, I'm sorry to say. Woulda been cute, though.

And there you have it. Fascinating stuff, no?

dammit hedgi day prompt: rose, tola and august finding out that orion hunt has been released from jail following his defeat at their hands (and maybe also rebellion of rose's new cosmic energies)

(characters from one of my masks games! Tola is a chinchilla alien with a galaxy of optimism, August is a speedster from a bad future, Rose is the daughter of a supervillain who has not realized she and tola are dating yet :) )

"Well," Tola say after a very long moment. "It is certainly not...ideal."

"No kidding," August says, her hands moving so fast in her panic it almost seems like she still has her speed. She had been pacing the cell when Tola and Rose woke up, her metabolism slowed by the inhibitors built into the wall, but still faster than a normal human's. Or, in Tola's case, Cibbret. Tola smooths her dust grey fur, which almost blended into the space cell, and looks unhappily around her. Not a speck of dust. Nothing she can use as weapon or tool. She sighs, stretching her toes.

"This is all my fault," Rose says from the corner she's been huddling in, still staring at her hands where the normally bright pink Cosmic Energies that live just beneath her skin pulse a dull, murky blush, at war with themselves.

"It is not," Tola says, her tone making it clear that by saying it, she makes it true.

"But it is. I shouldn't have stayed, I--I'm dangerous to you. He came after you because of me! If I'd left..."

"He'd have come after you anyways," August says. "Us too, probably, for stopping him before." She goes back to pacing, muttering just under her breath.

"We will be alright, Rosie," Tola says.

"How can you be so sure?" Rose asks, anguished. Her father is back, and he's not the kind of man who shows mercy.

"We are together," Tola says, like it is just that simple.

Looking at her, Rose wonders if it is.

So I actually did try to draw the Pokemon with my OCs, but boy do I not know how to draw Pokemon, especially since I didn't sketch them before hand so I apologize if they kinda look wonky.

For this I did my main characters from my Player 1 universe (the place where my icon, Beta and Scientist come from) as well as Thella and Emil (from my comic First Impressions). I'll try to explain my choices best I can haha. I gave them all different personalities based on how I think they'd interact with their owners and other characters in their respective series.

So starting with Alpha, she mostly has fighting and fairy type Pokemon, since her personality is more in tune to being generally cheerful while being pretty strong. Alpha's story is more or less "the chosen one who ran away and is trying to have a normal life" so she's really trying hard to live a happy life.

Mawlie is pretty close to how I imagine Alpha being, with her having a generally cute appearance but using her strength when need be. The Mawlie in her team is generally pretty energetic but she doesn't know her strength, so Alpha has to keep an eye on her.

Bewear has a similar reason- being cute but being really strong as well. Alpha can actually survive her Bewear's hugs since she's pretty durable so they love to hug each other.

Mienshao is a interesting choice since it's simply a fighting type, but I like to think she has it because it reminds her of her brother. More composed and calm, while still being protective.

Blaziken is a similar reason, while also being more of a fighter, similar to Alpha. The two like to train, but Alpha doesn't have very good stamina so she gets really tired easily.

Trubbish and Mincchino have a rivalry with each other. Alpha loves Chinchillas so it's a no brainer, and Trubbish was given by Gamma as a (mean) gift to tell her to buzz off, but Alpha actually loves to coddle Trubbish. Mincchino gets jealous sometimes so Alpha has to keep an eye on both of them.

Scientist is an engineer (despite the name) so they like to build things, and its no wonder most of their Pokemon are Steel type. They tend to be a bit on the shy side and have a hard time talking to people so I imagine they would like to talk to their Pokemon a lot.

I imagine Magnezone and Klingklang are mostly used to move Scientist around or to help out with different inventions. They like to be useful but Scientist has to be careful just in case they cause problems unintentionally.

Metagross is more helpful in things that are heavier put, though they also go out to get things. Also very good for intimidation.

Bronzong is something collected out of curiosity. Scientist likes keeping it around since their psychic powers are very helpful for the workaholic nature they have.

Ditto is used mostly to help with tools and whatnot. Sometimes you just need a tool and you don't wanna buy it! Ditto likes to hang out and play with the other Pokemon in their team.

Shedninja is actually one from the Nincada Scientist and Beta raised together and each holds one of the Pokemon. To prevent people's souls from being sucked in, Scientist put a backpack on it. It likes to hang around and and seems to be more animated with Scientist and Beta hang out together.

My yandere icon Beta is mostly based on speed and stamina, so I based a lot of his Pokemon off of that, which happens to be a lot of bug types and flying types. It makes sense because while he's fast and hard to hit, smacking him hard takes him out of commission, so his pokemon are probably similar.

Ninjask again was a Pokemon that Beta and Scientist raised together and split the end result, with this Ninjask being adopted by Beta. Ninjask likes to carry around flowers for eat for sap, but Beta will often use it to give to Scientist. Very happy to see Shedninja when Beta and Scientist come to see each other.

Crobat is pretty loved by Beta considering it evolved from a Golbat. Flits around a lot and probably stalks Scientist for Beta's sake and grabs some knick knacks from them to give to Beta.

Yamega is actually pretty calm for the most part, though it does love to eat Beta's cooking. However if Beta ever gets mad, you should be careful, since Yamega gets pretty violent if Beta gets angry.

This Alcremie is a salted caramel flavor, and helps with Beta's cooking since Scientist love sweets. Probably be careful of this one too, loves to confuse people and attack them for getting too close to Scientist. Really adores Scientist and gives both Beta and them berries.

Masquerain teams up with Crobat a lot to stalk and steal things from Scientist, though he also tries to keep people away from Scientist as much as possible with his wings.

Phione is someone that Beta found that he keeps because Scientist found it cute. Beta also thinks that this Phione is a sign of his destined relationship with Scientist and keeps it around for that reason.

Gamma is an annoying thief so most of his pokemon is based on Dark types or Ghost types. They all help in stealing things for him and causing general chaos wherever he goes.

Zoroark is a given since it would help Gamma in stealing things as he can transform to different people. Very loyal to Gamma, he also uses illusions to keep people away from his hideout so that he can't be caught randomly.

Sableye is pretty mischievous so he likes to dig into places and eat gems. Gamma actually doesn't care a whole ton about money, so he really takes joy in watching some rich person lose their gems only for Sableye to eat them in front of them. Pretty good at being a distraction too, except when he gets distracted.

Nicktik was found after Gamma caught it stealing and he decided to use her for his own benefit. Nicktik is pretty great at holding all the stuff that Gamma steals. Nickit hopes to evolve into a Thievul in the future and actually has a pretty strong affection towards Gamma but is a bit aloof about it.

Banette mistaken Gamma as the child who threw her away, but Gamma isn't really affected by it. Despite this, Gamma likes it since he does like old discarded things and keeps her around for sentimental reasons.

Despite it's scary look, Cofagrigus is actually probably the kindest pokemon in Gamma's team. He is a strong kleptomania though so he will probably steal things without even realizing it. Takes care of the Stufful that Gamma has.

Stufful is Alpha's return gift to Gamma and while Gamma pretends to hate him he actually gives him a lot of affection and he loves him. Not that he would ever admit it to him or the other pokemon in his team.

It was kind of hard choosing Pokemon for Delta since admittedly her and Thella have really similar personalities and appearences, but Thella is more honorable while Delta mostly fights for her own interests. Generally, Delta admires strong Pokemon and she trained each of them from their first evolution.

Greninja was mostly chosen because they both have a mask, but Delta admires him for his swift actions. It's also a reminder of her brother, Beta since Greninja is rather fast, much like a lot of Beta's Pokemon.

Cacturne is a hardy pokemon that Delta saw potential in and trained from a Cacnea. It likes to watch over others in the forest that Delta lives in, but he tends to scare them away instead.

Mandibuzz likes to fly around looking for possible lost people in the forest, picking them up and throwing them out back into the city. She also really likes to be decorated, so Delta tries to find animal bones to decorate her.

Volcarona has to be really careful not to set fire to the forest, but he is generally pretty gentle and likes to hold things with its little legs. He always watches Delta knit with great interest, and Delta has been trying to see if he can actually knit with his tiny legs.

Toxapex was adopted by Delta to help defend against the monsters that live in the forest, but she's very excitable and likes to jump around a lot. Delta can't actually get poisoned so she likes to pet her. Toxapex really hates Gamma who occasionally pops in, though her spikes aren't enough to kill him.

Goodra likes to hug Delta much to her dismay, though admittedly it does help her sleep at night. Very helpful, Goodra reminds Delta of an old friend that she lost long ago, and keeps her around partially because of that.

Moving onto First Impressions, we have Emil's pokemon. He has a mix of more cute and calming pokemon to represent his outward character and a lot of darker ones to represent his more mischevious side. Since he cares a lot about appearances, all of his pokemon are very high in being able to maintain his public image.

Alohlan Meowth was given to him by his parents and really loves attention just like Emil. Similar to Emil, he likes to cause mischievous things for the sake of attention. Despite this, he actually is pretty smart and likes Emil a lot.

Blissy is more used in the case of his outward image, though its not like she really understands what Emil is doing. He gives out her eggs to gain favors and maintain her image, but Blissy probably does worry about her owner quite a lot. Loves playing with Arcanine and doesn't really like Misdrevius .

Arcanine is very friendly towards everyone but especially loves Thella. Emil sometimes get jealous since Thella actually loves animals, so he will often push Arcanine aside to gain more attention from Thella. Still though, Arcanine is quite beloved by Emil due to his happy nature.

Milotic is based pretty much mostly on appearance and usefulness, primarily to keep everyone calm while Emil continues to cause problems. A bit haughty and won't allow just anyone to touch her. Is a bit afraid of Thella because of her personality.

Misdreavus is a important part of Emil's pranks (or attacks) and really encourages Emil's behavior. She does seem scared when Emil becomes more violent. Likes to collect random things from Thella to appease her owner.

Liepard is an elegant pokemon who likes to keep an eye on Thella for Emil's sake. He seems disinterested in Emil's pranks and Emil doesn't seem to like him that much. Still, Liepard is kept around to watch Emil and Thella to see what will happen between them.

Finally there's Thella, whose pokemon are mostly based on honor and protection. A lot of people seem to be afraid of Thella's team even though they're all rather kind despite their appearence.

Absol is probably the closest to Thella, based on Thella's general goals and personalities (since both of them are hated despite the fact that they try to stop people from disaster). Based on that kinship, they are very close partners.

Bisharp is an aloof soldier who wants to protect people, but unfortunately his sharp arms cause problems for everyone around him. Thella respects his efforts though and does her best to train him to be less lethal towards others.

Duoblade is sort of symbolism of Thella's resolve. Very loyal, Thella will often use it's earsplitting sound to clear out people from the area so that she can deal with the problem at hand. Is very rough when trying to protect people, but always has good intentions.

Lucario is incredibly loyal to Thella and will do whatever in his power to accomplish her resolve of stopping Emil. He isn't the type to hurt people, but will often use brute strength to stop Emil's team. Was given to her by her parents.

Corviknight is probably the most intimidating of all of Thella's pokemon, being pretty huge and having enormous strength. Still, she is probably the most gentle of them all, even trying to fix anything that gets broken when Thella's team is used.

Golurk's primary goal is to protect people and often will block off Emil's characters as best as possible. Not as violent as others in Thella's team and mostly tries to defend rather than attack. Thella also likes it because it looks like a superhero.

Shards of the Nexus: Seeker and Seer

There was someone who knew all along.

Vaporous atmosphere, set by complex lighting made to seem simple, sensors at every second step. Enveloped in felt, fine sandalwood fibers, an ember line of precious oud, winding through dim, sleeping halls. It was comfortable here, calm and quiet, for all that she was an intruder and would have to leave soon. But she wondered why the entrance was here, within a home? Usually they were in more liminal spaces: turnpikes, truck stops, the last gas station at the edge of a town.

The answer whispered to her in the study, the form of a china cabinet filled with the tools of one who could see. The obsidian mirror, the quartz sphere, the pendulum, the teacup. Silver-green mugwort bundles, bouquets of dry poppy pods. Perhaps this was why?

But intruding on the home of another sorcerer was a dangerous faux pas, and she heard the click of the hammer before she sensed them behind her, louder in the velvet half-light even than the bullet it promised.

“I feel obliged to inform you, miss, that I have impeccable aim. Do with the information what you will. I know I am going to~”

Voice like a cappuccino candy, heroin haze smoothed over chinchilla fur. Danger, yes, but the choice was hers.

Kindly given time to form a magical shield...could she stop bullets? She hoped not to find out tonight, but she was the interloper here, and was not unused to inviting danger with her presence. She could still run, if she had to.

Reflected in the cabinet glass, elegant Deco flow. Vermilion pop, olivine and marble, a malachite mantle, heavy and defining. Orchid petals opening in halo. Beautiful.

“Oracle?” she asked.

“Not quite.” they answered.

“Augur.”

“Upon occasion.”

The reflected face lined up with a figurine within the cabinet, a leonine creature of magic and mystery.

“Sphinx.”

“Now you're on the right track! And you? A traveler of some kind?”

“Right track.”

She turned slowly to face the...person. There was light in the olivine, the swirling mantle of the earth. This person saw her, and saw her, in ways she was unable. They recognized her.

“So it begins.” they whispered.

“What does?”

Smile sardonic, turned inward.

“I guess we'll find out together. Fancy some tea, young lady?”

Like a flight of birds, this one, directions unknown, delicate anemone petals flung by the wind. A familiar sentiment. The offer was a pax and she could return that kiss of peace should she want to, but they still knew far more than they were letting on.

“Much obliged.”

She followed through muffled halls, into a highly organized kitchen. Sterile and stylized. She began searching through the cabinets.

“Whatever are you doing?” they asked.

“Gonna help set the table? Where are the cups at?”

A smile, a silken rope, teasing but not cruel.

“Missouri.”

“Pardon?”

“Specifically, rural northwestern Missouri. I'm right, aren't I? I am~”

“How did you...Is that what you saw?”

“I saw...impact. Nothing more can be described. No, I know your place of origin from the way you speak. And your instinctive drive towards cooperation tells me your community was small and close-knit. You tell me everything I need to know, merely by being yourself.”

Swirl of approval, pomegranate and chocolate. Admiration and...memory. She had always found self-assured intelligence to be endearing. If a bit of arrogance went with it, well, so much the better.

“Impressive.”

“Isn't it?” they preened. “However, in the big city, a host has greater responsibilities. Go back to the study and make yourself comfortable. Oh, but first~”

They held out their delicate, gloved hand.

“My name is Edward Nigma. I go by the moniker 'Detective' more often than not, because that is what I am.”

“Helix.” she said, bending over the offered hand to press a quick, playful kiss to the back. It drew a silver bell of a laugh from them. “It also has some significance.”

“I know.” they said. “Go on now. I'll get everything ready.”

And 'everything' meant everything. Not just a quality oolong, but rich cream and large sugar crystals, small squares of shortbread, glazed madelines, finger sandwiches, each exactly the same size and shape, and a bowl of mixed fruit which had been organized by type.

“You look as though you might not have eaten for a little while.” they pointed out. “Indulge. No use in letting anything go to waste.”

She didn't actually know how long it had been. World by world, time was not static. It might have been a day. It might have been more than a year. It was so hard to keep track, so she lived almost exclusively in the present.

“Thank you.” she said, sincerity in every syllable, loading up her dainty china plate.

“Just remember the kindness. Reciprocity is a valued quality here.”

“I am sorry. I have little to give.”

They leaned forward, setting down their teacup, all refined etiquette in contrast to her country manners.

“You have something I prize above all else. Information.” Hunger of a different type, a great looming creature slavering behind tsavorite civility.

“What could you want to know from me?” There were many who looked at her magic and saw only power. A weapon they could wield, while disregarding the mind that still existed behind it. Those did not enjoy the privilege of her company for long.

“There is a mystery that I am unable to look at from the angles I need to solve it. I believe you are able to experience things in ways I am unable. You see, there is something of a paradox I have recently become aware of: I am not the only Edward Nigma to exist. Somehow, there are more of 'me'. The same person, and yet each distinctive. Different faces, different ages, different voices, and yet all fitting into the same niche in their own respective worlds. Are you able to tell me how that can be?”

Strange, very strange. They were Aware.

“You know about them. Do they know about you?” at their nod, she continued. “Not many can safely handle the knowledge. That there are worlds upon worlds upon worlds, nearly endless in their scope. But you can see them, can't you? Only from within, but you are Aware. There is a sort of...'Nexus' I guess is the best word for it.”

“And you can see it from the outside?” her turn to nod. “What does it look like? How do you perceive it, from beyond the edges of reality?”

“A gnarl of beads in the bottom of a jewelry box, frogspawn, a ganglion tangled in on itself...are these boys yours?”

A photograph on the desk, three young men, one no more than a child, and a curious empty space where something had been clipped out. They reached out of the frame with inquisitive expression; gooseberry glass, lapis in amber, pistachio ice cream, and...a poisoned spill of radium paint from shattered uranium glass. Its impression filled the void in the picture, crying for recognition.

Something had been there once, and its memory burned.

“I can't say they are truly mine, exactly. I've no children of my own. But we occasionally take that function with each other. It's an odd little family we've built, for certain, but it is ours alone.”

“Where is he?” she murmured idly, more to herself than anyone else, but the Detective plucked the frame from her curious hands, and placed it pointedly back on the desk, facing away.

“The...others?” she asked.

“Some of them. But go on. Our worlds are...tangled? Is that why we can reach each other?”

“I believe so. The realities tighten and twist, become 'threadbare' in places and easy to pass if you know the areas where the boundaries are weakest. There will be more. As the worlds wend, more will come into contact and rub thin. Foundational entities within each may become Aware of it. I don't know where that will lead. I've never seen a multiversal configuration like it.”

“You don't come from within this Nexus?”

“No. Much farther afield. Far enough that I feel there wasn't an Edward Nigma in my world, and if there was, they would have been highly derived. Maybe not even named the same thing. So different as to be unrecognizable.”

“Or perhaps you simply never met them. How long have you been traveling?”

The slightest smile, but it stretched her face like a scar.

“Since the day I died.”

A small frown, only the tiniest crease between the eyebrows.

“You are not dead, Miss Helix. Or do you insinuate that you should be?”

Mona Lisa silence.

“I see. I could say the same for myself. And yet, such as we are not meant to accept that. Now please, continue.”

“Reciprocity.” she repeated and pointed to the picture frame. “First, I wanna know about them.”

They sighed softly, but that was the game among mystics. They wanted information from the outside; she wanted information from the inside.

“Very well. Tell me Miss Helix: do you have a family?”
