from what i saw in the other books it seems like the faith and the emperor's power were originally separate, which is weird well kind of like the power that came from people's faith in the emperor, was independent of the emperor himself and my theory was that it's got to do with humanity being a psychic species and the warp is "your mind makes it real" and then since the faith had a specific focus (the emperor) it became attached to him and became a self-sustaining cycle

it's entirely possible to become a god against your own will and then get shaped by what people believe you to be natase: the incident with the girl driving back demons might have been actually you all along

Okay, so like. Can you explain *what it is* about Four that makes him so blorbo?

Infodumping time? Infodumping time. Alright, let's take it from the top:

Four wasn't my favorite character at first, and I was pretty neutral to most of the Links at first anyway save for Twilight. When I got more into LU, I noticed that it was mentioned that the Colors would be based off of the FSA manga. Little baby Silver adored that manga in particular and had a big crush on Vio and Shadow. With the knowledge of the Colors in LU, this led to fanfiction and consuming as much of it as possible that featured the boys in varying interpretations. Somewhere in that timeframe, I read beloved @fuckit-hero-of-trains fic Alone Together and HylianHarmony's fic Colors, and they solidified Four as my favorite character. There were other fics, but those two inspired how I write Four myself.

Now for more about why him specifically: I've always loved and had a fascination with "black-haired anime boy with a tragic backstory" types of characters. The Four Swords Adventures manga has pretty much that exactly, though that specific fandom has definitely expanded the characters more and made them so wonderful. The knowledge of the source material always makes it easier to cause pain and suffering to characters, hence why I always choose Four as a victim. Then there's also the fact that my favorite subject has always been psychology and that I enjoy writing and reading characters dealing with intense situations and the aftermath of those situations, and you get "Threatening Darkness".

This turned into a tangent, but to sum it up I guess: I like Four cuz I've had an attachment to the Colors since I was much younger, his backstory based off of that plus the different interpretations of his character make him very fun, and the psychology is a major interest for me.

Since I tagged Train, I'm hoping they've got some thoughts as well, but I wanna hear other people's thoughts on Four too, cuz I feel like I could've explained this all better.

this is still very much still in development in my brain, and i hesitate to go too hard with direct comparisons because, aside from the whole thing where chim and stiles are two unique characters in two very different shows, they're ALSO at totally different life stages. but. because i cannot help myself. i made a list. it's very incomplete and ranges from similar traumas to silly, superficial things.

consider this:

quippy guys with trauma who use sarcasm/wit/humor to deflect, hide their feelings, and/or diffuse situations

shared pain of watching their mothers die slowly when they were young (yeah this one hurt sorry)

subjected to a brother figure being absolutely sickeningly stupidly in love (scott/allison, scott/isaac, scott/kira; buck/eddie)

run around playing detective (see: stiles + all of teen wolf; chim + jonah arc; chim + treasure hunting episode)

nabbed by bad guys (gerard argent; jonah greenway)

make movie references that they think should be common knowledge and are continually exasperated upon discovering the people around them don’t know what they’re talking about (for stiles, it’s scott and star wars; for chim, it’s buck and like everything other than backdraft).

there's also the way i can picture stiles in Chim Situations and chim in Stiles Situations. like:

remember in 6x06 when chim TOLD KAREN THAT HEN HAD DIED?? look me straight in the fucking face and tell me stiles wouldn't pull some hilarious off-the-fucking-wall bullshit like that to get two of his besties back together. (we're gonna ignore the part where allison actually did die. sorry. that's. god. sorry.)

you know how stiles is, like, delighted, actually, to find out scott is a werewolf? he researches, he Knows Things, etc etc. tell me that wouldn't be chim? chim would have a fucking FIELD DAY!

if the love of stiles's life disappeared on him, he would absolutely drop everything and pull a months-long roadtrip to find them and convince them that they are loved and not a danger to their child. their uh. hypothetical child. no, i'm not thinking of eli hale why would you even insinuate such a thing i would never—

alternatively, i could totally see chim showing up to, i don't know, hen's house in the middle of the night and being all like, "the cops found half of a body in the woods, let's go and see if we can find the other half!!" (in this situation karen is melissa. not in a weird way, just in the way that i can picture chim slipping in through a window and karen startled and swinging a baseball bat like CHIM what are you DOING here why'd you come in through a window? and chim's like you locked the front door! and karen's like YEAH EXACTLY.)

(my life and all my earthly possessions for a treasure hunt episode but with teen wolf characters)

hmm. something something kevin following chim into firefighting only to end up dying on the job / scott following stiles into the woods only to end up being bitten by a werewolf. (not that either of them are to blame for it, but like. you know. i imagine they might have some guilt complexes going on.)

something about the way season 1 chim wants so badly to be seen a certain way by tatiana...the way he shows people what he thinks they want to see vs who he actually is because he thinks they won't want who he actually is...something about that feels so true to stiles's character in a way i can't totally put into words.

on a slightly more serious note, i just wanted to say that one of my favorite activities for enrichment in the enclosure (tm) is blorbo overlaying, wherein i take characters from one obsession and think about how i can categorize them based on characters from another obsession (*taylor swift voice* i have this thing, it's autism)(anyway). as a result, i've spent a lot of time thinking how the 9-1-1 characters could be smushed into teen wolf characters.

my knee-jerk urge was to see how much stiles and buck matched; yeah, they're both part of the most popular ship in their respective fandoms, but there's also the adhd thing, the knowledge of lots of different facts thing, the jeep thing, the whole "my worth lies in what i can do for others" thing...i can make a case. but for me, this ultimately breaks down when i think about how buck is just so...genuine and kind? he’s earnest. he’s gentle. the man's a himbo (affectionate). stiles is...very much Not. stiles is ALSO (when he hasn’t been, as one might say, sandpapered by the fandom) prickly. he’s got an inner circle that he’ll protect with his life. if you’re not in that circle, you’re just not really on his radar, unless you’re trying to join that circle, and then he’s suspicious until he’s sorta like vetted you.

(this is totally an aside, but it's the same reason why i've never really thought grumpy/sunshine works for sterek. derek is grumpy, sure, but stiles sure as fuck isn't sunshine.)

ANYWAY. i don’t think that’s chimney, exactly (i think he's probably a little sillier and friendlier), but i do think he and stiles both have a similar edge to them. like: see me. no wait. don't look. i'll make you see me. i'll make a snarky comment and draw attention to myself. but don't look directly at me. i'll talk and talk but i won't say anything real. they had to be the grown up in their home too young. they're terrified of losing their people, because their people are so fucking important to them, and because they know what it feels like, to lose someone, and if it happens again, it'll wreck them. they've got anxiety buried under three movie references and a wry side-eye and an exasperated, flailing hand gesture. they're fiercely loyal and protective.

uh. well. i guess that's all (lying LYING but i'm cutting myself off here). also, i feel like i didn't quite do chim justice so. sorry for that. and here's hoping for a chim-centric storyline (breakdown era?!) in our near future. <3

Tagged by @andromedaexists! It's cool your names have connections to family and saints, and that you've tried so many things/sports. Your cats sound adorable (though this goes without saying for cats perhaps).

As for myself:

1. Are you named after anyone? Yes! My mom wanted to give me a "hippie" name like Freedom or Windsong or something, but my dad would have none of it. In one of their rare instances of compromise, they settled on naming me after a folk/pop singer who was big in the 70s. If I decide to change it at some point, I'll probably choose something very similar in spelling/sound.

2. When was the last time you cried? Like two days ago while thinking about a scene where a character experiences Gender Thoughts (positive). And the day before that while listening to talks on medieval history about humans being humans. Then last weekend, while watching Puss In Boots with my partner. Look, it's not outright sobbing and tears, but I do mist up a lot, okay? For someone who had to numb their emotions to survive much of their childhood and teen years, I appreciate this actually. That despite whatever pain I've experienced it couldn't stop me from recognizing and overflowing at the pleasure and beauty all around me.

3. Do you have kids? No, and no plans to. I'm content with my affection for the children of others in my life.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? I think so? I definitely used to, though I think I've cut back on it significantly.

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people? The way they speak and how they communicate in general. Accents, idioms, whether they're confident (and if that confidence is bravado or well-founded), is their choice of words vibe-based or definition-based, etc. I'll recognize someone's voice before their face tbh. 😅

6. What’s your eye color? Brown. I get compliments on them.

7. Scary movies or happy endings? Both? Depends on my mood. I always love a "hard-earned happy ending", though. Those Situations really did a number on my blorbos, but they kept on keeping on. That sort of thing.

8. Any special talents? Defying expectations, I guess? I often apply for jobs/sign up for experiences where the people in charge just go, Um, are you sure you're supposed to be here? And I'm like, Sure, why not, let's go. Then I do pretty well at whatever it is and they're impressed, mostly because they thought I couldn't/wouldn't stick around. People also seem to generally like my baking.

9. Where were you born? Northern California, USA.

10. What are your hobbies? Writing, reading, little art projects, video games, gardening, baking, thinking too much, harassing various invertebrates, sea creatures, and neighborhood animals with my affection/fascination

11. Have you any pets? A cat named Mimi! She was a stray I agreed to adopt from a friend on Discord while drunk. This remains my best decision made while under the influence.

12. What sports do you play/have played? I did martial arts for the last seven years, including fighting in like 4 tournaments. I put it aside since college takes a lot of my energy now. Also, training is expensive, and the culture around it sucks pretty often. I'd like to get back into it one day, just with people who value it for reasons similar to mine.

13. How tall are you? 5' 8". I'm too American to be measured in cm (joke joke this is a joke the metric system and I are buds).

14. Favorite subject in school? Before college, lit/reading. As an adult, I really enjoy history and anthropology related stuff too.

15. Dream job? Making a living off my silly little gay vampire stories. But I'd settle for translating fiction between Spanish and English.

mili anon (again. sorry) and i feel i should've been a bit more clear there was a reason i didn't mention love town when i mentioned "For a Place of Love" (well according to the fandom 2 reasons but primarily this one) and that's because i honestly really enjoy the perspective of someone listening to the songs made for Library of Ruina without actually having the in-game context. It's a pleasant source of evidence that the songs stand strong enough on their own while also being extremely fascinating to me who got into mili through LoR to see the different perspective.

To be honest I kinda ran out of steam after seeing how long that last ask was so I didn't get to cover some of the non-LoR mili songs I really like, like Bathtub Mermaid which is a very gruesome song (like major major trigger warning of self-harm) of giving everything you have up to someone else and molding oneself to fit someone else's needs,,, i love the lyrics where even the song's subject is like "i'll embrace everything good about you... and then squeeze out all the bad things" it really makes you think about who is all this destructive devotion really for? what is even left at the end? aughhhh

(anyways sorry again about how long this has gotten, and the whole "we don't talk about love town" is a blatant lie. from what i've observed LoR fans can't seem to shut up about love town lmao)

ok yes though!!! absolutely!!! like i am aware there’s a story here but i’d actually rather just garner it from the context of the song as opposed to necessarily getting into the media. it’s a fun activity. like musicals that you don’t intend to ever watch but that you love the songs from and you’re like listening closely to the lyrics to figure things out. and i think all these mili songs are so good and well written that you can easily enjoy them without even being aware they’re from media. absolutely fantastic

and yeeeAAAAAAh bathtub mermaid is a favorite of mine too bc i like Wasn’t expecting that. like after a lot of more energetic songs it’s like oh suddenly we have this quiet haunting piano lament?? about like someone committing themselves way too far to an abusive relationship and just wanting to keep hurting themselves because they’ll do anything for that person’s attention including giving up everything they are. like man it gets dark in there. like so many mili songs it’s like uh what’s up with the title lol sounds a bit silly but nope it’s actually pretty genius. using the metaphor of a mermaid who should be free and beautiful but being kept in a tiny little bathtub and constantly in pain. y’know. yeah i love that song it’s so pretty and sad and blorbo-ifiable

ok if we’re on the topic of other ones. how about ‘ga1ahad and scientific witchery’? super fun one. i would love to watch someone piece together an entire original story based on it. i’m getting like this love-hate relationship between a witch and a (cyborg?) knight. who keep killing each other but coming back to life (out of undying hate? out of a commitment to each other? not wanting to kill each other but they’re supposed to be enemies so they’ll fulfill their duty?) whatever’s happening there i love this one it’s a lot of fun. featuring such lines as ‘rise from bed my darling, so i can see you again/so i can kill you again’ and ‘kiss me tenderly gently violently’. bangers. and it’s pretty interesting bc the song doesn’t really have a solid structure or repeating pattern it’s kinda just like each section is a new thing entirely and you think it’s gonna end at this one part but it doesn’t but then when it does end you weren’t expecting it lol.

hm what other ones. shoutout to ‘summoning 101’. girl tries to summon furry at 3am (GONE WRONG) but they still make it genuinely romantic somehow

‘with a billion worldful of love’ is underrated imo. genuine beat drop. and ‘i’m sure next life you’ll love me too’ is excellent blorbo material

How do your blorboes react when they get sick? Who gets sick more often? Who takes care of them? Who pushes trough the pain, and who gets in bed when they have the slightest cold? Who is super mad when they get ill and who does not mind? Go wild with this one!

I'm gonna try to spread this out over my WIPs to make it more interesting.

Black and White

The answer is 100% Markov for almost all the parameters in the ask.

When he was working at the circus Reyna found out he was getting weird hallucinations (he fucked up his brain with his faustian bargain magic powers and sometimes has difficulty telling what is real and what is illusion) she told Johann and he freaked out. Johann is basically the dad of the younger people at the circus (except for Darius, he's been claimed by Diedrich as his New Son), so he immediately offered to take care of him and give him every medical resource available. Markov was like "ew no leave me alone" and refused everything.

But later in the story, after experiencing Growth(TM) and also horrifying torture at the hands of a god, he starts going to Darius whenever he needs help, since he considers him to be almost a brother to him. He asks Darius to hold his hand when it gets too much and Darius is very happy to do so.

Also, as a side note: Alphonse never got sick as a child because as soon as Diedrich, his father, heard him sneeze he'd go "let's heal that up with my magic powers". He gets super confused when his friends have to stay in bed for a few days to recover from a cold.

The as of yet unnamed Dystopia WIP

The obvious answer would be Cristover because he's the group's baby and has somehow amassed 4 and a half parental figures (you can find an informal introduction here). Or Nester's two (now dead) daughters, since he's one of the country's most renowned doctors (I kinda expand on his character here).

But the actual answer is Vi, who's sickly as hell. It's very hard to get a regular supply of your meds when you're a criminal on the run after a botched coup d'état, so he's constantly feeling Weak and Frail. He's like "Don't worry, I've dealt with this bitchass chronic illness all my life!" *is struggling to stay upright*. Veta and Veo, his two girlfriends, are very worried about him.

Devourer of Souls

Well you see. Seth is a very skilled healer, so his kids never get sick. Except for Kayla (name may be subject to change), who's allergic to magic like one would be allergic to polen, and starts sneezing uncontrollably whenever magic is used in her vicinity. The whole kids thing happens way later in the story, when he's like... 40-50 years old.

But the thing about Seth is that ge can't heal himself. So earlier in the story, when he was in his 20s-30s, whenever he went "ah, my leg hurts" in the beginning, his partner Teo would scoop him up like "Do not fear, my love!! I will help you!!" and he'd try to carry him until his arms gave out (which, when you're the strongest demigod to ever live, is a long fucking time). Teo eventually learned that that's not very nice.

(Here I should mention that Seth got his right leg busted early in his youth in a healing accident on which I'll elaborate at a later time, rendering it almost useless. He's kinda weak so that's why Teo was so adamant on carrying him around.)

Meanwhile Teo has no clue how to take care of himself. He's like *slowly losing pieces of his soul due to magic-related deterioration to the point that he barely feels human anymore* "Yea I'm fine".

Do you have any tips for taking care of yourself and your mental health when writing about difficult subject matter? Recently, I've felt the need to delve into some very personal and topics in my writing, something I've never had the courage to do before. It's been helpful both for my writing and for myself as it's helping me work through a lot of things, but at the same time it can be really painful and vulnerable.

Taking care of myself is probably not my strong suit, Anon, but let's see what we can both do to be better about this, huh?

I know in the past I've had to step away from some topics in fiction, both reading and writing, because I wasn't ready to process things that way or they were cutting in a way that wasn't helpful. Fortunately, it seems like you're past that and ready to process! It's good to know that.

I generally have to keep low expectations for myself on days I have therapy or on days that I'm writing something emotionally tough for me. My word count will be lower and slower and that's fine because I'm doing something very hard, and I'm liable to get prickly outside of those contexts, so it's sometimes better for me to withdraw and keep myself from making too many decisions when I'm hurting.

It might also be helpful to keep something else that's much lighter for you to keep engaged in. Something you can write and feel silly about, and something you can read or watch. Reading even silly and unrelated stuff can be really helpful in processing difficult things because your brain can work through it in the background while you have devoted all your actual conscious effort to these silly problems that have nothing at all to do with anything you have problems with and will never have problems with. Let's worry about Blorbo's problems instead!

So, distractions, yeah, can be helpful.

Basically, I think you need to treat yourself gently and understand you gave yourself an emotional workout and so you can emotionally rest at other times. And if you have something irl emotionally exhausting coming up, maybe put off the writing so you can prepare yourself.

4. 14. 22. 27!

4: I have a bunch of favorite characters, I'll list off a few. Hunter Wittebane and Lilith Clawthorne from The Owl House, Kris Dreemurr and Ralsei from Deltarune, Chara and Asriel Dreemurr from Undertale, Springtrap from FNAF 3 (I don't condone his actions BTW, he just has a really cool character design), and Link and Zelda from the Zelda series. If I tag a character as a blorbo, then chances are that they're one of my favorite characters. Unless I say otherwise.

My favorite subject to draw are people (and furries), but there are a few areas that can be quite a pain to draw. Mostly hands, and specifically stylizing them. Along with legs, hair, fabric folds, guys and enbies in general (No offense, I've had more practice drawing girls and AFAB enbies). I think I'm improving quite a bit, but I know that I have quite a ways to go. Especially considering that I'm in the process of changing my art style (I might actually post my progress later. I haven't posted any of my practice sketches yet because I'm incredibly self-conscious about it.).

I'm also still trying to figure out how to draw my favorite characters in my art style. Mostly Kris Dreemurr, Hunter Wittebane, and Lilith Clawthorne at the moment. But mostly Kris and figuring out how to draw their hair.

Another thing that I really like drawing are Mandalas. I can't tell you much right now, but I'm making a bunch of Mandalas that correspond to Pride Flags. I'll be making separate dedicated posts to them later, along with a dedicated tag for them.

14: My favorite motifs to draw are hearts and stars. Along with anything celestial, pentacles, my custom sigils, Ying Yang symbol, paisleys, sparkles, and stuff related to my Fandoms. One example of a Fandom motif that I like drawing is the Triforce, along with a variation that includes Lorule's missing Triforce (Official examples of what I'm talking about here and here).

There are other motifs that I like drawing, but I forgot to mention them here. And it's something that you can spot easily, but sometimes I like hiding them as well.

22: I do a quick walk around in my home, mostly the corridor outside of my room just to get the blood flowing and keep myself awake. If I start to fall asleep while working, I get up and do this. Also, I do some stretches right before I start drawing. Mostly in my right arm, neck, and back. I also do these when I start to get stiff as well.

27: Sometimes I draw Warm-up Sketches, or sometimes I forget to do so. Sometimes I get so into drawing a certain thing, that becomes my Warm-up. Even if it goes beyond a sketch.
