A little sneak peek :)

“You know…” She uses the comb to sweep his bangs off his forehead and away from his eyes.  “…I’m really digging this older guy vibe you’ve got going on.  It’s kinda sexy; all the gray hair you’ve sprouted over the past five months.  Once you hit fifty? You are going to be one hell of a hot silver fox. I’m going to have to beat the women off with a stick. And probably a few men.”
Returning to the task at hand, she carefully trims the hair above his top lip; mindful of the combination of breathing and feeding tubes that have been keeping him alive and nourished.  When it became apparent that she would continue to ‘stand off’ against them, the doctors had -albeit reluctantly- switched their course of care;  ordering the nurses to teach Esme the basics in case they’re ever short-staffed and other patients need to be of higher priority.   She knows their excuses are bullshit;  that they’re simply tired of her constant presence and her refusal to spare them the work of looking after someone they’ve already written off as a loss.  And she’s also aware that they’re just biding their time until legal paperwork is drawn up and processed; licking their lips in anticipation of when they can serve her with a court order to have him removed from the machines.
Yet their pressure -both passive and actively aggressive- doesn’t sway her.  Despite being both physically and mentally exhausted, she is staying the course; digging her heels in even deeper and willingly and readily accepting any ‘task’ they want to assign her.
“I am NOT very good at this,”  Esme laments, as she returns to trimming his beard.  “I am definitely not cut to be a hair stylist, that’s for sure. You know what we’re going to do as soon as you’re out of here? Get you to a good barber.   Because you’re starting to look homeless and unloved and I don’t need some bleeding heart picking you up thinking you’re a stray.”

Summary:
Leo and Calypso have been neighbors and friends since kindergarten. The two were inseparable all the way to high school. However, in their Junior years, Calypso was about to confess to her crush, Percy Jackson. However, he turned her down and made her realize that who she truly loves is her best friend, Leo. Will she finally let her true feelings out? Or will she bury them deep in her heart, never to see light?
Story:
Calypso looked everywhere in the library, but Leo was nowhere to be found.
“Maybe he’s at the Mechanic’s Clubroom?” She thought. She headed toward a small garage near the school where some students go when doing some mechanical projects for their club. Leo would tend to be there every now and then but due to his… wild ideas, he was not allowed to work on any projects there. Instead, he tends to help out the other students when they ask for his help.
Calypso looks around to find Leo. Then suddenly, someone spoke inside. Calypso peeked in the garage and saw Leo with another girl. A club member named Jessie. She has brown hair and wears a little bandanna on her forehead. She’s wearing a jumpsuit that all club members wear when they’re in the garage.
‘What’s going on?’ Calypso thought.
“So… I… I like you… for a very long time.”
Calypso's heart stopped for a second and realized what was going on. Leo was getting confessed by a girl. She’s panicking, fearing that Leo will accept her confession. That Jason was wrong and he doesn’t see her as a lover.
“So… will you go out with me?” She asked. It was quiet for a moment, putting suspense on his answer.
“Yeah, I’d love that.”
Calypso lost her breath and her heart just stopped instantly, as if it shattered into many pieces and was unable to be rebuilt. Tears were starting to fall on her cheeks and before anyone could spot her, she ran off.
She failed.
She should’ve realized the truth of her feelings a long time ago and confessed to him. He was always by her side through thick and thin. He was there for her when she was heartbroken; he was there when she got her first period; he was there when she was grieving the loss of her sister. He was there when she needed help with her garden and fixed up her tools as well. He was always there for her. And now… he won't be anymore. He’ll be too busy with his girlfriend and won’t make time for her. And the thought alone is unbearable.
Meanwhile, back at the garage.
“And Scene!” Leo said. “And that’s how you’ll confess to him, okay?”
Jessie sighs, “Leo, there’s no point in practicing! I’m just gonna make a mistake and end up stuttering on my words!”
Calypso was unaware that Leo was actually helping Jessie practice her confession to her crush.
“Besides, I’m not even that pretty.”
“Looks aren’t everything, Jessie. Plus I think you have a fair amount of charm on you. Look, the guy you like seems like he’s totally into you. I mean, he practically comes and visits everyday just to see you. There’s literally no reason for anyone to come here unless it’s us club members. Look… If a guy like me can get a girl like Khione, then you’ll definitely hit it off with your crush.”
“Didn’t she use you just to get to Jason?”
“She did, but she saw me as a threat to one of the hottest guys in school. So…”
Jessie snickered, “Did you just call Jason Grace hot?”
“Yes, but don’t tell him. It’ll go to his head.”
Jessie rolled her eyes and thanked him for support. She ran off, leaving Leo by himself.
He really should take his own advice and just confess to Calypso. But, the thought of their friendship ending because of his love for her was too much to bear. He was content with just being her friend.
But he wants more.
Is it wrong to be selfish sometimes?
Leo and Jason met up at the Library as usual but Calypso was a no show. Both are unaware that she saw the confession and did not know it was simply an act.
“She usually comes here,” Leo said, concerned.
“I’m sure she’s just caught up with some of her other friends.”
Leo grumbled, “I guess, so what do you want to talk about?”
Jason told the news that he finally asked Piper out and she said yes.
“FINALLY!” Leo yelled. “It’s about damn time!”
“Shut up! I don’t want to hear that from you! You still haven’t confessed to Calypso.”
“And I told you, I’m fine where we’re at.”
“No you’re not, and you know it.”
“Can we just focus on you right now?”
Jason sighs but nodded.
The two talked about how his date is gonna go. Jason’s gonna take Piper to the Pier and go on some of the rides and play some games. He’s hoping to take her to a nice restaurant and confess his feelings to her. If things go smoothly, Jason might have a shot.
“If Calypso was here, she’d give us a woman’s point of view,” Leo said. “Where is she?”
“I already told her earlier today. She already knew. In fact, she was supposed to see you afterwards.”
Leo was now getting more concerned until the bell rings, announcing for next class.
“Head to class, Jason. It’s my free period right now. I’m gonna go find Sunshine.”
Jason understood and nodded. As Jason headed off to class, Annabeth came in, looking for Leo. She saw him and marched toward him, furiously.
“What did you do this time?!” Annabeth asked angrily.
“I swear, this time I didn’t do anything.”
“Then why is Calypso crying in the girl’s bathroom?!”
“What?!” Leo said. “Where?!”
Annabeth told him that she found her crying in the girls bathroom on the second floor. Leo ran off to find her when he started hearing crying in the bathrooms. He knocks the door just to make sure no one else was in there.
“Calypso?” Leo said.
“Go away, Leo!” Calypso said, sobbing.
“Calypso? What’s wrong?” he said, concerned. “Did something happen? Was it your dad again?”
Calypso's dad was the reason her sister died and for some reason is fighting a custody battle with her mother for her. The truth was that he doesn’t care about her health at all, he just using her for his selfish gains.
“No…” She replied.
“Was Khione being an Ice Queen again?”
“No…”
“Then, what’s wrong? Tell me, please? I don’t like to see you upset. If it’s about Percy-”
Calypso slams open the door and Leo sees her with puffy eyes and tears flowing down her cheeks.
“What’s wrong?! You! That’s what’s wrong! You just love playing with a woman's heart, never thought that maybe what you’re doing hurts them! Have you ever thought about how I felt?!”
Leo was confused. He genuinely does not know what he did that made her upset.
“Look, I’m sorry for whatever I did. But Sunshine-”
“AND DON’T CALL ME THAT! I’M NOT YOUR SUNSHINE! YOU ARE THE WORST! I DON’T WANT TO EVER SEE YOU AGAIN!” She yelled and ran off
Leo just stood there, confused and shocked at what just happened.  He doesn’t know what he did that made her this upset, but he needs to find a way to apologize.
The thought of his Sunshine hating him hurts more than every confession he was denied.
The day arrived for Jason’s date with Piper, but he was very concerned about the argument Leo and Calypso had. Leo told him of what happened and he was just as confused as him. Nobody seems to know why she yelled at him and it’s making Leo worried.
“Don’t worry about me, Jason. Go enjoy your date. You earned this moment. This is my mess so I’ll clean it up… somehow.”
That’s what Leo said.
As soon as Jason arrived at Piper’s place and rang her doorbell, she opened it and he was speechless. She was dressed casually, but to him she is the most beautiful being on the planet.
“Hey Sparky,” Piper said, smirking.
“H-hey, Pipes,” Jason stuttered. Piper chuckles at his shyness but grabbed his hand gently.
“Ready to go?” She asked. He nodded and the two headed off to the Pier. Their date was going smoothly, they went on a couple of fun rides and games. Piper was having a really good time, which gives Jason some hope that this date may end up with a chance to be in a relationship with her.
“I’m having a fun time, Jason,” She said.
Jason blushed and replied, “Me too… it’s fun with you around.”
As the two continued walking around, Piper had to use the bathroom real quick. Meanwhile, Jason spotted Calypso by one of the benches near the sides of the pier.
“Calypso?” Jason said. “What are you doing out here?”
“Oh… hey Jason. I… I just came here to avoid Leo.”
“I heard that you two argued, but what happened?” He asked.
“Leo… L-Leo…” Calypso started to cry. “I was too late, Jason. Another girl already confessed to Leo and he said yes.”
“What?” Jason said.
“It’s true, I saw it with my own eyes.”
Jason was surprised. Leo did tell him earlier before the fight, he was helping a club member practice so that she can confess. He now understands what happened.
This was all a misunderstanding.
“Wait, Calypso, I think you misunder-”
“It’s fine, Jason. I knew it was a waste. This was my punishment for realizing too late my feelings. You go enjoy your date. I’ll… I’ll be okay.”
Jason wanted to tell her the truth, but he can see that she won’t listen.
The only person that can talk to her is Leo. And he’s currently at home, working on a way to make up with her.
The whole situation was just frustrating and Jason’s the only one who has all the answers. But if he does this, it’ll ruin his date with Piper.
“I’m back,” Piper said. “Something wrong?”
“Oh, uh… nothing. Just thinking about some stuff.”
“Oh okay, then shall we get going?”
The two kept walking, but Jason was still thinking about Leo and Calypso’s situation. After a short while, it was time to get something to eat.
“You want to grab something to eat?” She asked.
“Uh before we do. There’s… something I want to ask.”
“Sure, what’s up?”
“Well… why did you agree to go on a date with me? I mean, you’re funny, pretty and all the guys and girls like you. I just want to know why me?”
Piper was quiet for a moment, then answered.
“Because you’re kind.”
“What?”
Piper blushed, “Last year, you were always supportive of my suggestion for the project, yet you also guided me so that I didn’t make any mistakes. I also saw how you are with your friends. You always give them support and push them to do the right thing. You never asked for anything in return nor do you put others in harm's way. You weren’t just some high school cliche Jock. You were more than that. You were… a good guy. Like a real hero.”
Jason's heart stopped.
It was at that moment he realized he truly had fallen in love with this girl. And it pains him that she’s right.
He brought out a frustrating sigh.
“Jason?” Piper said with concern.
“I’m sorry, Pipes. You’re gonna hate me for this. And you have every right to be. But, I need to go help a friend.”
Before Piper could reply. Jason already ran off to his car.
To get Leo.
To fix this mess.
Meanwhile, Leo was trying to figure out what he can do to have Calypso forgive him. It’s only been a day and he misses her badly. He misses her sassy remarks; her laugh; her judgemental look toward him. But most of all, he misses her smiles.
If he doesn’t fix this soon, he’ll lose her forever.
HONK HONK
Leo heard a car horn outside his house and looked out the window. He sees Jason in his car. Leo ran outside to see what was going on.
“Jason? What are you doing out here? Did you just ditch Piper on your date?!”
“Shut up and get in!” Jason said.
“What? What are you-”
“JUST SHUT UP AND GET IN!” Jason yelled.
Jason has never yelled at Leo before. This baffled him but he obeyed and got in; he did not want to make Jason more mad. Jason drove off and explained to Leo what happened.
“I found out why Calypso was mad. She saw you and Jessie practicing and she assumed it was real.”
“What?”
“She told me.”
“But why would she get mad over that? I was only-”
“BECAUSE SHE LOVES YOU! YOU DUMBASS!” Jason yelled. “After she confessed to Percy, he told her that he thought she was dating Leo. Afterwards, she realized she was in love with you the whole time!”
Leo was shocked and speechless at the sudden news.
“T-there’s no way that she loves me.”
“Really?! Think of all the guys she was crushing on! Literally every guy has some sort of trait similar to you! Odysseus was as smart as you; Drake was courageous as you; and Percy is just as loyal as you! She was subconsciously in love with you and it took Percy to help her realize the truth! And now, she’s crying at the Pier thinking it’s too late! So I had to leave Piper to get you to clean this mess!”
“What?!” Leo said. “She’s at the Pier, alone?!”
“Yes! Calypso is crying and I left Piper too; all so I can help you clean up your mess! I just ruined my one chance to be with the girl I like so that you can be with your true love!”
Leo was baffled at Jason’s intention. He ruined his own date to help Leo apologize to Calypso and confess their true feelings.
Leo truly was a dumbass.
He owes both Jason and Piper an apology.
They arrived at the Pier.
“Jason, I-”
“Save it. Just go get your girl,” Jason replied.
“I owe you one,” Leo said and ran off.
He owes Jason more than one for this one.
Calypso looks around as she continues to sit on the bench. She remembers when she was little and she and Leo would go there with his mom. They’d go on every ride and play every game available. She remembers one time they were at a shooting game and Leo won a teddy bear. He gave it to her because he thought it was childish.
She still has it in her room and kept it since.
They had so much fun together and were alway by each other’s side. And now, Calypso regrets never being able to tell her true feelings to her Leo.
“I wonder if they’re having fun right now,” Calypso said, wondering about Leo and Jessie.
“Sunshine!”
Calypso jumped a bit as she heard his voice. As if just thinking about him summons him.
“Leo?! What are you doing here?”
Panting, Leo replied, “Sorry, Sunshine. I know you don’t want to see me. But, I had to find you.”
“Why? Shouldn’t you be out with Jessie?” She asked with a harsh tone.
“That’s why I’m here. This is a huge misunderstanding.”
“What do you mean?”
Leo explained to her what happened at his club. However, she refused to believe since it sounds like a cliche thing to happen in romantic-comedy movies.
“There’s no way that happened.”
“But it did, Sunshine!” Leo said. “And even if she did confess to me, I’d turn her down.”
“Why? You dated other girls before; isn’t that you wanted? To have a girlfriend?!”
“I only want you!”
He finally said it.
“Every girl I try to go for shares some similarity to you! You’re funny; smart; beautiful and not afraid to get your hands dirty!”
Calypso wants to believe, but she feels like Leo is only doing this out of pity.
“That’s not true!”
“Why do you think I’ve always asked you when I went off to see a show? Or those times we spent at the treehouse. And what about those times you cried after every rejection you went through?”
“You did it because you’re my friend. We’ve been friends since we were kids.”
“Exactly, Sunshine!”
“Don’t call me-”
Calypso got interrupted when Leo moved forward and kissed her.
Her brain and heart halted for a second as she realized what was happening. Suddenly, her memory of their first kiss came back to her.
“That didn’t happen!” Calypso said, blushing.
But Leo was dazed at what just happened but nodded.
Neither wanted to admit that it was amazing.
And now, back at the present, Calypso was one that was shocked. Leo slowly distanced himself and said, “That did happen, Sunshine. I… I love you.”
Her eyes were getting teary out of the sudden confession.
“I’ve always loved you and always will. I can’t imagine my life without you. You’re my best friend; my partner in crimes… my first and only true love. I’d follow you and save you from every hell that awaits us, especially college.”
Calypso laughed but was still tearing up from his words.
“I… I love you too, Leo.”
Leo let out a huge breath of relief.
“Oh thank god, I thought I was gonna have to get a jukebox and play it by your window,” Leo joked.
Calypso laughed, “You are such an idiot sometimes.
She kissed him.
The two held on to each other tightly, fearing that this was all a dream and that they’ll wake up. But they didn’t; they’re feelings finally let out and they have each other now.
Meanwhile, Jason spotted the two as he went after Leo. He sees them kissing and let out a sigh.
“It’s about damn time,” He said.
“You said it.”
Jason jumped and looked behind him and saw Piper there.
“Piper?!”
“Hey.”
“What are you doing here?”
“I was wondering why you ran off, then I saw Calypso there earlier. I kind of put two and two together.”
“Yeah… I’m sorry.”
“You should be,” She said. “If I knew you were helping them get together, I’d have help too.”
“What?”
“I swear, those two took their damn time.”
“So, you’re not mad at me?”
“Oh I’m mad.”
Well, there goes Jason’s hope.
“But you can pay me back with another date,” Piper smirked.
“What?!” Jason said.
Piper laughed and replied, “I had a really great time with you. And like always, you put others before yourself. Always acting like a hero for everyone.”
She took his hand and squeezed it gently.
“But even heroes deserve to be loved too,” She said as she pulled Jason by his shirt collar and kissed him.
Time has passed and as Senior year was near its end, we found our main couple up in their little treehouse by the backyard, cuddling.
“Leo?” Calypso said. But Leo was not responding since they did take a quick nap during break. She sighs and climbs on his lap and flicks his forehead.
“Ow!” He said. He looked up and saw his Sunshine on him and smirked.
“Now this is the best way to wake up.”
“Oh really? Getting flicked by your pissed off best friend?” She said.
“No, waking up from my beautiful girlfriend who’s also on my lap… half naked.”
Calypso blushed as she remembers earlier before they napped that they had a very intense make-out session that most likely the neighborhood has heard. She’s gonna be too embarrassed to face the neighbors now.
“Shut up! That was your fault for being-”
“Cute? Irresistible?” Leo interrupted.
“Irritating,” She finished.
Leo laughed but held Calypso by her waist.
“Admit it, you love me just the way I am,” He said as he kissed her by the neck.
“Whatever,” She said, unable to reply well due to his kisses. “Please tell me you got everything set for college?”
“I did, don’t worry. We’re still getting a nice apartment close to the university, just the two of us.”
Calypso smiled.
After they finally confessed, the two were back to their old self. Except this time, it was mixed with some strong affections and whispers and several other lovey-dovey stuff. Especially the most spicy moments, like what they just did earlier. And now, high school is almost over and they’re both graduating. Their plan is once they head to college, they’ll have a nice little apartment together to save up money and hopefully one day, come back home to take over the family business, or at least, Leo’s family’s business.
“I still think we should add some entertainment in the garage,” Calypso says. “It’d be nice for some people who come to the shop. Oh, and we should definitely have a restaurant too, giving the visitor a place to relax while you work on their cars.”
Leo chuckled, “You do realize it’s my family business?”
“And what? Am I not family?” Calypso frowned as Leo stopped his action and stared at her.
“What?”
“I mean, you said that after college you were going to take after the shop and you want by your side, right?”
Leo blush as she points toward the old drawings on the wall.
“W-we were kids, Sunshine! I wasn’t thinking and-”
Calypso cupped his cheeks and kissed him gently but passionately. She let go and leaned her forehead to his.
“Well neither am I. Right now, I’m listening to my heart. And it’s telling me to never let you go. Never again. I love you, Leo.”
Leo’s heart took a big leap and can’t stop himself from grinning.
“I love you too, Calypso. Always.”
Leo kisses her passionately, then continues down toward her neck and lower. Calypso moans as he continues to shower her with all of his love and more.
I think it’s safe to assume that in the end, they lived happily ever after.

Daddy & Me + Three Masterlist
--
The rollers stacked on her vanity as you undo the curls in her hair. Eloise was doing the final touches on her makeup as it was her first Valentines with her boyfriend, Anthony. They're going for the full cliché; movie and dinner and a stroll by the pier when they are done.
This is the first Valentine in 17 years that you and your husband have the house to yourselves. You were going to make the most of it, spending some quality alone time without your children pestering you.
You leave her to finish getting ready before going down to check on your husband. You hear the doorbell ring, and you figure it was Anthony here to pick her up so you let the boy in. Eloise comes downstairs in the meantime and you could hear her speaking to her father.
"How do I look?" She asks him; her baby pink dress sat above her knees.
The man smiles, twirling a curl that sat on her shoulder. "Très belle, ma chérie." (very beautiful, my darling.) You smiled as you watched the interaction, Anthony steps past you towards his girlfriend. He had brought her chocolates and flowers.
She kisses his cheek; young love.
He had another bouquet of flowers, Eloise sets her gifts down in the kitchen as Anthony walks to you. "For you," he hands you the roses, you smile at him.
"Thank you, sweetheart. That's very thoughtful of you," you toss a glance at your husband who definitely forgot to get you flowers.
Eloise returns a moment later, linking arms with her boyfriend. "You two be safe," Charles tells them. Anthony nods, "I'll have her back before midnight."
"Just come home safe, you're both old enough to be responsible." You say, walking them to the front door and sending them off with a wave. Your husband comes up behind you the moment the door shuts, hugging you from behind before he carries you to the couch.
"So pretty lady, what are we going to do with our empty house?" He asks, you could practically hear the mischief in his voice.
"I'm gonna order takeout and drink a whole bottle of wine," you nudged him off of you, making him groan.
Charles was hoping he'd 'get some' so to speak, seeing that the house was in fact empty and would be for hours. Eloise and Anthony wouldn't be back until after midnight, Sofia and Christopher had gone up to Marseille for the night to spend time together and Gabriel and Oliver were at some club with Georgina and Adrian for the night, so you weren't expecting anyone back anytime soon.
"This is our first valentines together, alone, in a long time," Charles tells you, watching as you sit next to him with two glasses of wine.
"I know," you tapped your glass to his gently before taking a sip.
"It's odd," he whispers into your shoulder, kissing your skin softly. You nod, "but nice. Now hurry up and pick a place, I'm starving."
"Always so charming, my love." He rolls his eyes, earning a playful nudge as he reaches for his phone. You two settled on the Italian place that Charles liked.
He put on some random movie that the two of you had started watching a few days ago and never finished. You find yourself cuddled in your husband's side, his arm wrapped around you as you two tried to figure out what was happening where you left off. Eventually, Charles gives up on the movie and focuses his attention elsewhere.
Your husband pulls you onto his lap, his hands on your hips. "What do you want?" You asked him, your own hands on his shoulders, one sliding up to the nape of his neck; his hair had been growing out, all fuzzy and tickling his skin.
"I can't give my wife some love?" He whispers into your skin, lips peppering kissing along your neck as he pulls you into him. He reached your lips, you mumbled a no before kissing him.
His hands slip under your shirt, yours tangled in his hair; you make a mental note to call your mother in law to book him a haircut.
It's like you're teenagers again, all over each other with no room to breathe.
Hands make quick work of Charles's shirt, tossing it behind you somewhere as he goes to flip the two of you over, pinning you under him just as the doorbell rings.
You can't help the giggle when your husband groans, getting up to get the door as he assumed it was the delivery man with the food.
Except he's met with an annoyed Christopher, who just rolled his eyes when he saw his father shirtless and his mother on the couch. He pushes past Charles and goes to the kitchen.
"Chris?" You called after him, seeing Sofia walk in moments later on the verge of tears and you get up, tossing Charles's shirt to him.
The brunette follows her boyfriend, not saying anything until she reaches the kitchen. There's a screaming match, the two of them switching from English to Italian and then a mix of both. Something about a restaurant and a guy or something along those lines. Sofia's holding onto Christopher's arm and he gently pulled away, walking out the front door and slamming the door shut. Charles follows behind him, probably talking him down from doing something stupid.
These damn Leclerc's and their drama.
Getting up, you walk over to Sofia and sit with her in the kitchen. "Is everything okay? We weren't expecting you two back tonight, actually, we weren't expecting you back for the entire weekend."
The girl sniffles, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. "I hate him."
"Me too," you nodded, rubbing her back. "What did he do this time?"
"It wasn't even him, well I mean, it was but it was me. Actually, well.. it's complicated." She says and you raise an eyebrow, unsure as to what she meant. She speaks, explaining herself. "I bumped into an old friend, and when I say old friend, I mean an old friend. I haven't seen him in like, maybe, six years because he moved from Madrid to London. He just happened to be in Marseille with his girlfriend for Valentine's Day as well."
"Okay... I'm still waiting for what was so bad about that."
"I was waiting for Christopher to get out of the bathroom when my friend noticed me and tapped me on the shoulder. We exchanged hello and exchanged pleasantries, then he kissed my cheek on the way out. Christopher being Christopher, automatically assumes the worst."
You made a face, "so Chris got mad because.. he kissed you on the cheek? Is he dumb?"
"Exactly," she grumbled and you handed her a tissue to clean up her face. "Honestly, that's how Spanish men are, though. They're always affectionate, your father is the same way. I'm certain your friend didn't mean it in the way Christopher took it."
"Even if he did, I didn't take it that way. He has a girlfriend, and regardless, I love Christopher and I would never do that to him."
"I know you wouldn't." You gave her shoulder a squeeze. "Why don't you get something to drink? I'll go see what's going on with them outside hm?" You leave her be for the moment, letting her settle her emotions.
Charles is listening to Christopher ramble, the younger Leclerc spiralling and getting himself caught up in some nonsense lie that his brain made up.
"Christopher," you call for him, stopping him from speaking. He looks at you. "What?"
"You need to apologize to her."
He makes a face, confused as to why you're telling him to apologize when he clearly did nothing wrong, or so he thinks.
"Sofia is a sweet girl, who has no control over the actions of others, and who loves you very much despite your nonsense and your dramatic flare. So you get your ass inside and apologize to your girlfriend for ruining Valentine's day. Either you drive back to Marseille or you figure out something here, because you aren't gonna ruin today for her."
"He kissed her!" He says, flinging his arms in the air. Charles's eyes widened, "what?"
It seems Christopher had left out that detail.
"On the cheek," you clarify, "and so what if he did? You kiss Georgina on the cheek all the time and Sofia doesn't get upset. This guy was just some friend of hers, you need to get over your shit and put your ego to the side because if you don't, you'll lose her."
Christopher huffed, taking in his mother's words before turning and heading inside. You and Charles followed a moment later, hearing bits and pieces of their conversation in the kitchen but eventually, they came into the living room, holding hands.
"Dad," Christopher calls for his father, the man looks over at his son. "Can you get us a hotel room? I tried to get one but everyone says they're booked."
"I can try but why would it be different for me?" He asks, clearly confused and as clueless as the day you met him. "Because you're the prince of Monaco, Charles. Now start calling." You tell your husband, getting up to answer the door - the takeout had finally arrived.
Charles tried his best to get a hotel room for the kids, and even pulled his prince of Monaco card but despite it all, it was Valentine's Day and everywhere was booked.
Sofia decided that she wanted ice cream and Christopher, doing anything to make it up to her, agreed - ignoring the fact that he hated ice cream just for tonight. You sent them off with a wave before returning to your husband on the couch. Charles was refilling your wine glass as you took the food out of the bag.
You two had barely gotten 5 minutes into eating when the door opened and in comes Eloise with her mascara running down her face. She ran straight to her father's arms, collapsing into him.
Anthony follows behind her, the front door slamming shut as he rambles out something in French. "Ce n'est pas à quoi ça ressemblait! Ellie, tu paniques pour rien!" (This is not what it looked like! Ellie, you're freaking out for nothing!)
Eloise had returned home on Valentine's, in tears and was now holding onto her father as if he was going to disappear. The look you saw in Charles' eyes was one you thought was only held for Ferrari and all their torment but it was now directed to his best friend's son, - his baby girl's - his daughter's boyfriend.
"What's going on?" You handed Eloise a tissue, moving to sit on the arm rest of the couch, making yourself the middleman between Charles and Anthony.
The anger on your husband's face made you giggle internally, you could never take him seriously when he was upset - but you understood it. He didn't like to see his kids hurt, especially not his baby girl.
Anthony sighed, passing a hand through his dirty blonde hair; fluffy and flat, much like his father's. "My stupid ex girlfriend saw us while we were at the pier. She came to say hello and she was way too friendly with me - all over me, kissing my cheek, her hand on my chest, all in my face." He groaned, clearly disgusted by this girl.
"Why would you let her do that when you know you have a girlfriend?" Charles asks him, you could hear the roughness in his tone. Your hand gently moves to his shoulder, rubbing it softly.
You spoke next; "did she know you had a girlfriend?"
He nods, "Eloise was taking a picture of something so she was a few feet away and I guess she took it the wrong way when she saw her all over me. I was trying to get her to leave me alone but god, she's like a fucking pest - sorry," he makes a face when he realizes he swore. You wave him off before he continues. "Ellie took it the wrong way, which I understand but she won't hear me out, she thinks I'm cheating on her."
"Are you cheating on her?" Charles asks him.
"No!" You and Anthony answer at the same time; the boy trying to defend himself and you couldn't believe your husband would even ask that.
Eloise finally sits up, her father wiping her cheeks clean. Her blue eyes rimmed with red and slightly puffy from the tears and she turns to Anthony. "Va-t'en, je ne veux pas de toi ici." (go away, I don't want you here.) She tells him, voice trembling.
"Je ne pars pas, Éloïse." (I'm not leaving, Eloise.)
"Ok, je le ferai alors." (okay, i will then.) The girl gets up, walking the other way around the living room and heads up the stairs to what you could only assume was her room. Charles was just as wrapped around her finger as he was when she was born, and followed her to make sure she was alright.
These damn Leclerc's and their drama.
You rolled your eyes at your daughter's dramatics.
Yes, she was upset but Anthony had explained the whole situation in front of you, her and her father. While Anthony might look exactly like his man whore of a father, he was everything like his mother; a sweet, kind and fiercely loyal woman.
It broke your heart to see her upset but it also hurt you to see Anthony in the same state. You get up, hugging the boy as he sniffles, wiping his tears away with the back of his hand.
"She just needs some time to cool off, she's dramatic like her father." You tell him, trying to lighten the mood. You walk him to the kitchen, getting him some water.
He sat in the breakfast nook. "I swear I didn't even see her until she walked over, otherwise I would have walked the other way."
"I know babe, is this the same girl that stalked you after you broke up?"
"Yeah!" He groans, sipping his water. "She's so - ugh." He says, making you laugh. You kiss the top of his head, leaving him there for the time being as you put away what was supposed to be dinner. The food sat on the coffee table, cold and unattended.
The door opens again and you groan, praying it's not another issue but it wasn't; Sofia and Chris come stumbling in, clearly having consumed something other than ice cream.
"Mama!!" Chris grins, untangling his fingers from Sofia's as he walks over to you, kissing your cheek multiple times like he did when he was little - slobbering on your cheek as he did then too.
You laughed, smelling the booze on him. Steadying him, you held his waist. "Hi baby, you okay?"
"Soooo good," he tells you, wobbling over to Sofia, who was also drunk but more steady than your son. You watch as they go upstairs, the sound of the door opening and closing before you walk back to the kitchen.
Anthony still sat in the breakfast nook. "You want something to eat? Something else to drink?" You asked him, wiping your wet cheek off with a tissue.
It takes him a moment to respond. "You know when we were little and you'd cut the apples and make the little peanut butter sandwiches with the slices?" He asks and you nod.
"Want some?" You were already grabbing the apple, peanut butter and honey. Anthony smiles, nodding like he was a kid again.
You washed and cut the apples, spreading the peanut butter and honey on them, sandwiching them together and handing the plate to him. "Thank you," he says, sinking into his seat as he takes a bite of the familiar taste from his childhood.
"Mhm hm," you smiled, hearing the footsteps from behind you. Charles was coming down, kissing your temple as he picked up an extra piece of apple you had on the cutting board.
"Ellie just needs some time." He says, staring daggers at Anthony; if looks could kill.
You huffed, smacking the back of your husband's head. "Stop it, he feels bad enough as it is."
Another set of footsteps come from the hallway and you assume it's Christopher looking for something but then the sound of the front door slamming shut caught your attention. This house was like a free for all, everyone coming and going as they pleased - you made sure to make a mental note to see who had keys to this place.
In came Gabriel who was being held by his boyfriend, Oliver. The two of them were covered in blood and Gabriel had cuts and bruises all over his face.
"What the fuck? What happened?" You say, Charles rushing over to help Oliver sit Gabriel down on a chair.
"He's so fricking hot headed," Oliver says, holding his boyfriend up straight.
It was clear that Gabriel was beyond pissing drunk, the boy swaying unless someone was holding him. Anthony takes over for Oliver, holding Gabriel up as Oliver goes to the bathroom to get the first aid kit.
"What happened?" Charles asks, passing you the cloth as you wiped the blood off your son's face. "I have no clue," you tell him, being extra careful not to hurt him; not like Gabriel would feel it anyways.
Oliver comes back a moment later, setting the kit on the counter and taking back his spot next to Gabriel.
"Ellie's asking for you, man." He tells Anthony, who glances at Charles before quietly making his way out of the kitchen and up the stairs.
Before you could even ask, Oliver starts explaining the events of the night. "We met up with Georgina and Adrian at the club. We were all a little tipsy, and Georgina was trying to get a drink at the bar. Some guy came up behind her and he was getting all handsy, trying to touch her and Adrian was in the bathroom so he didn't see it happen, but Gabriel did and he stepped in." Oliver sighs, brushing his boyfriend's hair from his face.
"Basically, Gabriel told the guy to fuck off and said if he touched Georgina again that he would break his face. The guy took that as a sign to leave and once Adrian came back, the two of them decided that they were going to go get something to eat and just spend the rest of the night at home. But Gabriel being Gabriel, our night couldn't just end there of course."
You carefully patched up Gabriel, wiping his cuts clean and putting antibacterial ointment on what needed it , making sure he didn't need stitches or anything.
"The guy came back again a few minutes later. He was super drunk, as was Gabriel and you know how Gabe can be. They started fighting and next thing you know, they're beating the shit out of each other in the middle of the fucking club."
Oliver tells you the story, causing you to roll your eyes at your son's behaviour. You're proud of him for standing up for his friend but must he always get into a fight for stupid reasons?
"I tried to stop him but I forget how strong Gabriel is sometimes." He huffed and you looked at him, seeing the blood on him. "Are you okay?" You asked, moving over to check him.
"I'm fine," Oliver smiles. "It's Gabe's." He says, gesturing to the blood on his shirt.
Charles was making up the guest room downstairs while you patched Gabriel up. In his drunken state, you all knew he wouldn't be making it up the stairs. Your husband comes back to help Oliver get Gabriel into bed and you threw out the bloody mess that had developed on the counter.
You put the plates in the sink, tossing the garbage out and headed up to check on your oldest and youngest.
There were noises coming from Christoper's room and you figured it best not to investigate further. Eloise's door was open, you knock softly and peek in when you don't get an answer. Her head resting on Anthony's chest, the two of them cuddled up and fast asleep. Switching off the light, you pulled the door shut quietly and made your way back downstairs.
As you reach the bottom step, Charles appears from around the corner. He hugs you, squeezing you tightly.
"What?" you asked him, cupping his jaw.
"Our kids are insane," he tells you, sighing. You can't help the laugh, leaning down to kiss your husband. "Those are your genes."
Charles rolls his eyes and takes your hand, pulling you behind him.
"Where are we going?" You asked, following him. He leads you to the car, opening the door for you to get in before getting in himself. It was a short drive and you two ended up on the pier, Charles parks the car and looks over at you.
"What?" You asked him again.
"Just wanted some alone time with my wife," he whispers, leaning over to kiss you. "I can't have that?"
"No," you shook your head, leaning in your seat to reach him. Charles smiles against your lips, as you melted into each other, lost in the moment.
With a soft smile and a lingering touch, you reluctantly pulled away with your cheeks as red as the first night he kissed you. "What was that for?"
"Nothing," he says, smiling. "Happy Valentine's Day babe."
"Happy Valentine's Day, my love."

Part 1
Part 2
Summary:
Our story takes place after the events of Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The Elric brothers are exploring other regions to understand other concepts and ideas about Alchemy, hoping to prevent another tragedy the boys once went through. Edward is now a husband to Winry (His childhood friend and first love) and a father to his two children. Meanwhile, our main character, Leo Valdez, is an engineer in the Amestris military and was summoned to the Fuhrer's office. That was the day his life made a big change. And maybe for good?
Time has passed and Leo is starting to get used to living in the country-side, especially with a certain flower girl. And he’s learning a lot about Autmail engineering with the help of Winry Elric. His time at Reesembol is showing great results, however, he must now face his ultimate trial yet. Can he succeed? Or will he forever be chained to his tragic past?
As Leo was about to create his first automail project, he realized that fire will be involved in the process. He almost had a panic attack but managed to control himself. After he arrived home, he told Calypso about his past. His mother died due to an accident at their old garage. The flower girl comforts him and wishes to help him face his trauma. Since Leo told Calypso about his traumatic past, she starts telling her tale about her father and his horrific experiments with chimeras.
Story:
Alchemy: The Science of understanding, deconstructing and reconstructing matter. However, it is not an all-powerful art. It is impossible to create something out of nothing. If one wishes to obtain something, something of equal value must be given. This is the Law of Equivalent Exchange, the basis of all alchemy. In accordance with this law, there is a taboo among alchemists. Human Transmutation is strictly forbidden, for what could equal the value of a human soul?

Part 3: A Heart Made Fullmetal.
[Flashback]
Calypso’s story begins at a big warehouse, where her father, Atlas, was conducting his experiments in creating chimeras. Calypso was dragged to the warehouse where her father was going to commit his experiment.
“Daddy! Please!” Calypso yelled, trying to escape from his grip.
“It’s okay, dear. You’re helping daddy with an important project.”
Calypso tries to break free from her father’s grasp as she looks around the warehouse. Filled with cages and chains. In these cages are creatures created by alchemy. Half human and animals. Many creatures howled in pain and suffering, while some spoke in human language.
“Help me…”
“Free us…”
“…Kill… me…”
Calypso cries out to her father.
“Daddy! Please! I don’t want to be a monster!”
“Monster? No, Calypso, you won’t be a monster. You’re going to become the next evolution for the human race. Soon, you’ll lead humanity a step closer to becoming the ultimate life form!”
Calypso cries out, but no one will hear her cry for help. Her father has strapped her to an operating table with a transmutation circle created at the center.
“Don’t worry, Calypso. Daddy’s just gonna turn you into what you've always been…”
Atlas grabbed a cage with an animal inside. The animal was an eagle that was on sale on the market that day.
“…an angel who will guide humanity to sanctuary.”
Calypso does not understand what made her father go mad. But, ever since the death of her mother, Atlas also conducted research to bring back the dead with Alchemy. His research led him to the Amestris Military which led to Father himself. He became a member of Father’s inner circle and helped create the Chimera’s and the Homunculi. Using the research notes from Shou Tucker, the creator of the first Chimera, he was able to replicate Tucker’s work and create more chimeras for Father’s goal. He continued this line of work because he believed that working with Father will help bring his wife back. Unfortunately, everything fell apart when the Coup d'etat occurred at Central. Father and his homunculi are gone; the Fuhrer and his inner ring either arrested or killed; and all research about the Philosopher's stone has been destroyed, preventing anyone else from trying to obtain the power of a god through the death of many souls, regardless of innocence or guilt.
Atlas had no choice but to take the last of his research notes on Chimeras and his daughter out of the country and run from the military. As he was on the run, he reflected on his deeds and accepted the truth that you can not bring those who are gone back from the dead. Instead, he focused more on his daughter. However, his time at the military made him less sane and he began doing more research on Chimeras. Thus led to this moment.
As Calypso begs for her father to stop this madness, but he is far gone. The father she once had is forever gone. In his hand, he was holding a Vial with red liquid in it.
Unaware to Calypso, what he was holding was one of the last vials of The Philosopher’s Stone. A stone that was rumored to give Alchemist’s extraordinary powers that bends the Law of Equivalent Exchange. However, the main ingredient of such power is human sacrifices. When the Elric Brothers discovered this, they vow never to use such a horrible tool and prevent others from using it ever again. Atlas managed to escape with one and uses it for his research.
As Calypso cried out for help, A vent broke down and fell right in front of them.
Suddenly, a short man (We all know the pipsqueak) crawled out of the vent, groaning in pain.
“Ow! Should’ve just gone for the main door instead.”
Atlas was shocked at the familiar voice and face.
“Edward Elric! The Fullmetal Alchemist!”
Edward Elric, formerly known as the Fullmetal Alchemist, was traveling after the events of Central City’s rebellion. He and his brother, Alphonse Elric, are traveling around the world to learn other aspects of Alchemy, making sure to prevent the mistakes these boys did in the past. When Ed heard of these mysterious disappearances in the area, he went and investigated and noticed Atlas and his daughter were heading to a warehouse. Thus led to this moment.
Ed faced Atlas and replied, “Ah, looks like I found Dr. Frankenstein.”
Ed looks around and sees all the chimeras; crying out in pain and sorrow.
“You bastard… you ruined all these people’s lives for your own selfish gain.” He then noticed Calypso on the operating table. The sudden realization brought a terrible memory to Edward.
A memory about a little girl and her dog.
Ed clenched his fists.
“No! Not again!” He yelled as he ran to save Calypso. But Atlas was faster, he opened the Vial and used the Philosopher's Stone to use Alchemy and used the ground to tie up Edward and pin him down.
Atlas laughs.
“You’re too late, Fullmetal. I already completed my research; once I give my daughter her gifts, she’ll be free from this world’s fate.”
“Your Daughter?!” Ed yelled. Everything that Atlas was going to commit was just like how Tucker did. If Ed doesn’t stop him now…
“Big… Brother…”
The memory of Nia just kept looping in his head.
He needs to save the girl.
“Please! Help me, mister!” Calypso yelled.
“Hang on, kid! I’ll save you!”
Atlas yelled, “Silence! You don’t know anything about saving people! You claimed that every life is precious and sacred. Tell me, Edward Elric, do you consider my daughter an equal to that of criminals and murderers? Do you consider freeloaders and drunken folks equal to that of family? Do you consider a man like you to be equal to that of an innocent man?”
Ed was silent. Having no answer to give.
“What I did… I did it for my late wife. I promised her I’d protect our daughter. But how could I when we humans are weak and fragile. Corrupted and impure. We humans… are more animals than people. I gave these people the abilities to survive this imperfect world,” Atlas explained as he gestured towards the chimeras.
“And once I finish with Calypso, she will no longer have to fear the inevitable.”
“You’re insane!” Ed yelled. “A father shouldn’t put such horror to their own child! Yes, the world is cruel and unfair! But a parent’s duty isn’t to protect them from the world. It’s to prepare them for it. Otherwise, they’ll be just like us. Broken and tainted with blood.”
Atlas scoffed.
“Simple minded fools like you will never understand. When you become a father, you’ll understand how far you’re willing to go for your kids' safety.”
Ed tries to break free, but to no avail. Atlas was about to attempt the transmutation, when suddenly, red lightning appeared near Ed and deconstructed the binds on him.
“What?!” Atlas yelled.
“Always jumping to the pit of fire, aren’t you Edward?” Said a familiar voice.
Ed looks behind him and sighs in relief.
“Teacher? What are you doing here?!”
Izumi Curtis, an alchemist and teacher to the Elric Brothers. Master in the ways of Martial Arts and the only one to stand up against the North Brigade troops in Fort Briggs (and live).
But most of all…
She’s a housewife.
“I was on vacation with my husband, then I saw you enter this warehouse and I can see why,” Izumi replied as she looked around. She notices the cages and Calypso by the table.
Izumi clapped her hands and touched the ground, red lightning appeared around Calypso and unshackled her from the table. The floor then formed a pillar that led straight to Izumi, bringing Calypso to her. She grabs and put her down.
“You okay, sweetie?” Izumi asked.
Calypso was too scared to answer properly but she nodded.
Atlas yelled in frustration.
“Damn you! No matter, you won’t escape here alive.”
Atlas snapped his fingers and all the cages broke free. Most of the chimeras walked out and stood behind Atlas.
Izumi and Ed huddled up in front of Calypso, protecting her.
“Be careful, teacher. Atlas made these people into chimeras against their will.”
Izumi sighed, “Still naive as always.”
“Better than be a murderer like him.”
Atlas orders the chimeras to attack them.
“We’re in trouble, I’m not much without my alchemy, Teach,” Ed said.
Izumi laughed, “Oh relax, Edward. I brought company of my own.”
“Huh?” Ed said.
“Come out you two!” She yelled.
Suddenly, a giant explosion appeared behind them, bringing out a beam of light from outside.
From the light appeared two figures. Beings beyond man.
On the right was a big heavy man with a manly beard and ferocious-looking face, yet has a heart of gold and owns a meat shop. That man’s name is Sig Curtis, Izumi’s husband.
On the left was a muscular man with a small stand of blonde hair but has a gentleman moustache. Trained in the ways of Alchemy passed down by the Armstrong Family for Generation. Major Alex Louis Armstrong.
“What the hell?!” Ed yelled. “Why the hell are you here Major?!”
“Ah, Edward my boy. I was simply on vacation when I met these two on the way. We saw you enter this warehouse and just happened to drop by,” Armstrong replied.
“So it was all just a coincidence, huh?” He thought out loud.
“Enough!” Atlas yelled. “You’re ruining everything. All my hard work, all the sacrifices, all the struggles I had to put through.”
Ed clenched his fists.
“Struggles? Do you even realize what you did to all these people?! To your own daughter?!”
Calypso was hiding behind Izumi, shaking in fear and in confusion of the situation.
“She doesn’t need to be the perfect being or ultimate life form! And these people, even if they were struggling in life, they still have a life! And you took that away from them!”
Atlas ignored Ed and ordered the Chimera’s to attack Ed and his friends and retrieve Calypso.
As the Chimera’s attack, Atlas fled towards the roof. Ed tries to give chase, but the chimera’s were preventing him from pursuing.
“Damn it!” Ed yells.
Suddenly a wall emerged from the ground and pushed the chimeras out of the way. Izumi and Armstrong created the walls.
“Ed! Go after the bastard! We’ll take care of these creatures!” Izumi ordered.
“Wait! Don’t kill them! They’re still human beings, we can’t-“
A chimera jumps over the wall and was about to attack when Armstrong jumps in and intercept the attack.
“Not to worry, Edward my boy. We’ll handle it from here and protect the girl. Despite what horrible deeds he has done, he must live to pay for them. Especially to this young lady here,” Atlas replied, gesturing towards Calypso.
Ed spoke to Calypso, “Hey kid! Don’t worry, everything is going to be okay! I promise, whatever happens, you’ll be safe!”
Calypso nodded but whimpered as the chimeras focused their attacks on them.
Ed gave chase and went after Atlas at the roof.
As Ed’s friends deal with the monsters at the bottom, he chases Atlas at the roof.
With nowhere left to run, Atlas was cornered.
“It’s over, Atlas! Give up!” Ed yelled.
Atlas grunted in anger, “Damn it! I had hoped that I didn't need to resort to this. But I guess I have no choice.”
Atlas pulled out the vial.
“A Philosopher's Stone?!”
Atlas took the stone out of the vial and used it against Ed.
Ed may not be able to use Alchemy anymore, but he can still fight with martial arts that he learned from Izumi from the past.
The battle was long and harsh.
But Ed managed to avoid most of his attacks, however, he did gain a few cuts and bruises though.
Atlas was furious, “Why won’t you just give up?!”
As he was about to use the Stone again, it started to erupt energy around it, as if it’s starting to lose control.
It then exploded and blew up his entire arm.
Atlas screamed in pain and was walking backward towards the edge.
“Atlas! Stop!” Ed yelled.
But it was too late, before he could reach him, Atlas fell to his death.
Later on, the law enforcement of that country arrived, Armstrong and Ed explained the situation to them as The Curtis’ comfort Calypso.
“And what about the child?” Armstrong asked the officer.
“We’ll put her in foster care until we can find any relatives in her family. Though that’s gonna be difficult.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well… you guys are from Amestris, right? Outside your country, Amestris has a bad reputation about it being a world conquering empire. Especially from the rumors about civil wars and rebellions.”
Armstrong frowns, the dark history of Amestris still haunts the locals of the land and now it taints the Amestrians reputation. The Fuhrer has a long and hard path to fix those mistakes.
Ed looks back at Calypso and notices her traumatized expression.
Who wouldn’t?
Her father strapped her to an operating table in a warehouse filled with monsters he created; and he was going to turn her into one as well.
But it was her eyes that got to Ed.
It was the same with Winry when she found out about Scar.
Filled with shock.
Fear.
Hate…
“…I’ll take her in,” Ed replied.
The officer and Armstrong were shocked with Ed’s answer.
“That girl… went through the same thing like another friend I knew back then… this time, I was able to stop it in time. Now, she needs a new home. I’m sure Winry wouldn’t mind.”
Izumi and Sig smiled and nodded. Proud that Edward has grown-up to be a fine young man.
Armstrong agrees, by crying manly tears and hugs Edward with immense strength. Edward was trying to escape from his grip, but to no avail.
That was the day Calypso became part of Elric's family.
[End of Flashback]
As Calypso finishes her story, she looks back at Leo and notices his shock expression.
“Wow… Calypso, I’m…”
He was too shocked to say a simple sentence. But Calypso understood.
“It’s okay. It was all in the past. But since then, I have.. trust issues with people. I mean, my own father tried to make me a monster when I was a kid. How can I interact with strangers or friends?”
Leo grips on Calypso’s hand tighter in reassurance.
“It’s okay, Sunshine. I get it. We all have issues from our past.”
Calypso smiled.
Telling Leo about her past made her feel like a big rock was lifted from her.
After Breakfast and their emotional talk about their past, the two headed out to visit the Elric family. Leo wanted to apologize for his behavior last time .
“I really need to get over my trauma if I want to continue my training,” Leo said. Calypso nodded and noticed Winry outside of her porch.
“Oh good, I was hoping you would come today,” Winry said. “Come inside, Ed and I want to talk with you Leo.”
Leo believes he’s gonna fail his training on Automail Engineering. He doubts they’ll give him another chance.
As the three went inside, Winry and Calypso went to the kitchen to get some drinks while Leo headed to the living room where Ed was. The kids were still asleep at the moment so it was just Ed and Winry right now.
“Hey, Leo,” Ed greets.
“Hey… you’re probably wondering about my behavior last time, weren’t you.”
Ed nodded.
“Yeah, I do. I spoke to Mustang about it, but I want to hear it from you. If you’re okay to talk about it.”
Leo nodded and told his story to Ed.
Ed didn’t judge nor show any negative expressions.
After Leo told his story, Ed asked, “Why didn’t you tell anyone in Central about this? Why take this job with such trauma?”
“...I guess, despite what happened, I wanted to bring back all the good things my mom did in the past. Even if I have issues with certain aspects of this career, I still want to follow in my mom's footsteps and help people.”
“But you don’t have to do it alone, Leo.”
Leo laughs, “Yeah, I already got that lecture from Calypso. Don’t worry, I’ll get over this trauma eventually.”
“Not by yourself, you’re not,” Winry said as she entered. “Ed and I understand more than anyone what you've been through. What it’s like to lose your parents.”
Ed nodded.
He then told his story.
How he became an Alchemist.
How he lost his mom and committed the ultimate taboo with his brother.
How he lost many friends and good people just to get their old bodies back.
How he and many people joined together to stop an evil homunculus from taking the lives of all who live in Amestris and become a god.
How he gave up his ability to use alchemy to save his brother.
The path was long and hard for Edward, but if it weren’t for his brother, Alphonse; his best friend and wife, Winry, and of the many friends and allies he has made in the past, he never would have the life he has now.
But he did lose many good people.
His mom who always smiled for her boys, despite being very sick.
A little girl named Nina who loved her father and dog and became a horrific experiment for him.
A good man named Maes Hughes who went far and beyond not just for his friends and family, but for the Elric brothers too; and died for it.
The many lives that were lost in the battle at Central City to stop a monster and help the boys get their bodies back.
And finally, his father who was cursed with immortality and saw his entire civilization become a part of him; who loved his wife and kids and wanted to grow old with them. Ed hated his guts because he believed that he abandoned them, but in truth, he was preparing his final fight against the Homunculi. In the end, he died right in front of his wife’s grave.
Leo and Calypso didn’t say a word.
How could they?
Sure they went through a horrific moment in their lives.
But Ed? He went through several and faced the impossible head-on.
And was able to live a happy life now.
“Wow…” Leo said. “I just…”
“It was a long time ago. My point is, I understand. The guilt and fear of losing someone dear to you. Losing a home…”
Leo looks at his drink.
“How did you do it?” Leo asked. “How did you manage to make peace with that?”
“With some help, Leo,” Ed answered.
After that, the gang worked together to help with Leo’s phobia with fire. They started small by using matches, candles and little sparks made from machines.
Leo flinched and started to hyperventilate whenever he saw them at first. But in just a couple of weeks of going through such a process, he’s able to hold candles, lamps and such at ease.
It was a big accomplishment.
So everyone celebrated by baking a cake. While the girls headed to get the ingredients at the markets, Leo and Ed had another important conversation.
“About the man that saved you back then, that was Alphonse, my brother.”
“What?”
Ed explained, “Al was coming back from his trip to the East and he and I were gonna meet to catch up and combine our notes. When we met up, he told me about the fire. After what happened, everytime he comes back to Amestris, he comes by her grave and sends flowers.”
“So it was him who’s been bringing flowers once a while,” Leo said. “I hope to see him someday, I want to thank him for the flowers… and for saving my life.”
Leo and Calypso’s relationship also changed drastically. Whenever Leo has some free time off, he’d come downstairs and help Calypso with her shop. Whether it was technical problems or just managing the front counter, he’s there to help her.
Calypso would make lunch and dinner for the two of them every chance they could. Once a while, Leo would have nightmares and Calypso would enter his room and comfort him and end up sleeping with him.
The two were having a peaceful and happy life in that flower shop that eventually they realized something that they tried to deny for a while; fearing that it’ll end this peaceful time.
They were both falling in love.
One day, Leo came to work on his trauma with Winry and asked her for advice on Calypso.
“Oh, so you finally realized your feelings, huh?” Winry smirked.
Leo blushed.
“Well, take it from someone who’s married to a man with little to no romantic bones in his body. Love is complicated and unexpected, you never know when it’ll happen or with who.”
“But… What should I do if I get transferred to a different part of the country? I saw how fragile long distance relationships are back and Central and… I don’t wanna lose what I have with Calypso.”
“I get it. Don’t forget, my husband goes out of the country and explores the world despite being a husband and father. But you know what? I don’t mind, because no matter where he goes, what he learns, what he’s been through, he’ll come home. Always. Isn’t that what Calypso is to you?”
Afterwards, Leo saw Ed playing with his kids and having fun.
Despite all the horror he went through in his past, he continues to smile and live.
Leo’s training to get past his trauma continues.
Eventually, he was even able to join the village bonfire.
The Elric family and Calypso celebrated with Leo that day. To Leo, it felt like he was cleansed of his burden. At some point, he swore that he saw his mother at that moment and that she was smiling at him. Proud of how grown up he is, and surrounded by good folks that would watch over him.
And so, his training continues.
He still struggles with fire now and then, but he keeps moving forward. He continues to push himself forward to learn Automail Engineering.
In less than a year, he finished his training.
And now he needs to report his training to the Fuhrer.
As Leo arrives at Central, he feels gloomy. It’s not that he’s not proud of his accomplishment.
It just meant that eventually, he’ll have to leave Reesembool.
Leave the Elric family.
Leave Calypso behind.
He arrives at the front entrance of the Fuhrer’s office. He gave his report on his training and that he has completed his training.
“That’s good,” Mustang replied. “With the training and your expertise, I’m sure we can help the poor souls that are still suffering from the Ishvalan war.”
“Um… Sir?” Leo said. But he couldn’t say anything afterwards. The Fuhrer put in so much effort for Leo to get training. The Elric family did so much for Leo to get past his trauma and finish his training. Calypso did so much for Leo to feel at home.
That’s why he can’t deny his transfer.
“Yes?” Mustang asked.
“Uh… nothing, Sir…”
“Corporal… I understand what you’re feeling right now. You got comfortable in your new post. That’s the struggle here in the military. Eventually, we all have to leave our homes behind to protect our country. But know this, Leo…”
“Sir?”
“Keep moving forward toward your dream, Leo Valdez. It’ll eventually help out the people around you, and they’ll do the same to others. It’s human nature to give back to those that helped us. And who knows, eventually, your dream may lead you back home…”
After he left Central Command, he went to visit his mother’s grave. As he arrived, he saw a figure standing in front of her. He was wearing a trench coat and was holding a briefcase and a bouquet of flowers. He has short blonde hair and golden eyes.
It was the eyes that gave him away.
Alphonse Elric. Edward’s younger brother.
“You’re Alphonse,” Leo called out.
Al looks at him. He recognized him instantly.
“You’re that boy…”
Afterwards, the two spoke near a cafe.
“I see,” Al replied. “You've been getting automail training from Winry, and my brother told you about me.”
Leo nodded. “I have to thank you, you saved my life and for that, I’m grateful.”
“...But I couldn’t save your mother…” Al replied, with a guilty look.
“It’s okay, my mother would be grateful for you saving me. That’s how she is, always caring for others before herself.”
Al grips on his coffee tight. “Just like my mom…”
“...Ed told me about you guys tragic past,” Leo said. “I’m sorry you have to go through such a thing. But, you managed to save so many lives afterwards. And for that, I know I’m not the only one grateful for all you have done. So, don't beat yourself down for this. Like Ed says…”
“...Keep moving forward, you've got two good legs. So use them,” Al finished.
“Exactly, which is why I was in Resembool. I finished my training and will be transferred to the East to join in the effort to help out the Ishvalans. After I fulfill my tour, I’m gonna rebuild my mom’s shop and continue her work.”
“That’s good,” Al replied. “I know Winry will be proud of you. Otherwise you’ll have to face her wrench.”
The two laugh at his joke. The two headed back to Resembool.
When Calypso got the news that Leo will be transferred to the East, she had mixed feelings. She’s happy that Leo was able to gain one step closer to his dream. But also sad, because eventually, he’s going to leave in about two weeks.
And she’ll be alone again.
“Gonna miss me Sunshine?” Leo jokingly said.
Calypso scoffed it off as a joke, but deep inside, yes. These few months with Leo have been the best months of her life. She felt needed, happy and no longer alone.
But she doesn’t want to hold Leo from his dream.
“Yeah right, I’m glad you’re leaving. I’ll finally get some peace and quiet here,” She said as she was cleaning the dishes. Unaware that tears were flowing past her eyes.
And neither did Leo.
The next day, Leo invited Calypso to a walk around the village. It confused Calypso because he never went out for a walk. He’s always working on something, training on his automail expertise or helping out with the shop.
“What for? You never simply go out for a walk?”
Leo shrugged, “Gonna be leaving soon, might as well get a last look around before I do. And I enjoy your company, despite your fiery temper.”
Leo smirked while Calypso frowned at his teasing.
She still agrees to join.
As the two walk around the village, they tend to joke around or tease each other for fun. But unknown to each other is that they both are trying really hard not to express their true feelings. Fearing that it’ll ruin what they have now.
“So, once you finish your tour, you’re gonna rebuild your mom’s shop, right?” Calypso asked.
“Yeah, though I probably won't be able to do it at our old spot anymore. So I’ll probably need a new place.”
“I see…” Calypso trailed off. “...in that case, why not build a shop here in resembool?”
Leo snickered, “You know what? That’s a good idea! I can build a shop right next to yours. That way I can enjoy your cooking.”
Leo laughed whole-heartily, but Calypso was silent, looking at Leo brightly.
Even though he said it as a joke. To Calypso, it was hope. Hope for the future.
She scoffed, “Yeah right, you’ll disturb the birds and scare my customers away. I’ll never be able to sell my flowers.”
“Well in that case, I’ll buy all the flowers you made… and give them to you.”
Calypso stopped walking with Leo. Leo turned back and saw her crying.
“Sunshine? What’s wron-”
He couldn’t finish his sentence.
Not when he has Calypso’s lips on his. Unable to speak.
Nor did he want to let go of her.
Like her nickname suggests.
She’s his sunshine.
It was Leo’s last day and was about to head out. Leo said goodbye to the Elric family, but Edward and Alphonse already headed toward the train station for their departure too. But before he could head out to the station, Calypso walked with him early in the morning, hands-holding and talking about their future.
“Make sure you write back at least once a week. And please don’t skip your lunches and dinner time, I worry for your health,” Calypso ordered.
“Okay, Sunshine. I promise,” Leo answered.
“And please don’t blow yourself up!” She said jokingly. “I don’t wanna hear the news about a scrawny mechanic nearly blowing up ANOTHER street.”
Leo laughs and eventually, so did Calypso.
“Okay, I promise, Sunshine.”
“And…” Calypso grips tighter to Leo, “Come back home soon.”
“I promise.”
As the two arrive at the train station, they say Ed and Al waiting on the train.
“Leo, heading out too?” Ed asked.
Leo nodded.
Later on, Ed wanted to speak to Leo privately. The two sat at a bench nearby so they could talk.
“So, you’re still gonna fulfill your dream?” Ed asked.
“Yeah, I may not be able to rebuild it at our old spot, but I’m sure my mom wouldn’t mind. I’m sure she’d want me to build my dream close to home,” Leo replied, looking at Calypso as looks out to the horizon, waiting for the train. “I won’t lie, I still get nightmares about that day. And I still flinch now and then whenever I’m near a spark or a fire. But… I’ll keep moving forward.”
Ed nodded.
“Good,” Ed said. “Keep moving forward, Leo. Being away from home will be painful, but you have to keep following your dream. There’s no such thing as a painless lesson. They just don’t exist. Sacrifices are necessary. You can’t gain anything without losing something first. Although, if you can endure that pain and walk away from it, you’ll find that you now have a heart strong enough to overcome any obstacle.”
Calypso called out that the train was about to arrive.
Leo got up and walked toward Calypso.
He knew that it would be a long time before he could come home. So, he grabbed her, hugged her and kissed her passionately. Expressing all his love and care for her.
For him, she’s home.
“Yeah,” Ed said to himself, “A heart made Fullmetal”

A/N:
Happy Fullmetal Alchemist Day everyone. Sorry for the late reply, school and work kept me busy. But then I remembered October 3rd was close and that I was off that day, so I made the final touches on this chapter for that day. I’m sorry if it’s not good, but I won’t lie, I had nostalgia hit me hard while writing this. I actually cried at certain parts when I wrote them.
Again, this story is dedicated to @winryofresembool on Tumblr. Thanks for making an amazing Caleo story AND being a Fullmetal Alchemist fan, keep up the good work. Some of the backstory is even inspired by her fanfiction, Things We Lost In The Fire. Do check it out if you are also a fan of Caleo. Thank you Winryofresembool for making such an amazing story and being one of my many inspirations to become a writer myself. Never stop doing what you love and keep moving forward.
Despite whatever happens in the future, Leo and Calypso are meant for each other.
Two broken souls, lost and alone.
Desperate for love and acceptance.
I know that together, their shattered hearts can become one.
A heart made Fullmetal.
Don’t Forget.

Daddy & Me + Three Masterlist // includes these asks -- one // two // three
----
"You’re sure you’ll be fine?” You asked your husband for the millionth time since you left home.
Charles smiles, nodding. “We'll be fine, amour. They’re not babies,” he reminds you, glancing at the children that were sitting on a bench a few feet away.
“But they’re my babies.” You sigh, looking over at them. Charles’s hands rest on your arms, giving them a soft squeeze. “I'm assure you we’ll be fine, and in one piece when you return.”
The two of you stood in the middle of the airport, your husband reassuring you that everything would be fine like some cheesy rom com; that seemed to be the theme of your marriage.
You had gotten the chance to host Saturday Night Live this upcoming weekend which was absolutely massive. Your book was a bestseller, which was then adapted into a film which was now taking over the box offices. You couldn't be more proud.
Although you were on top of the world, there were two things digging at you about your time away.
You’d be missing the Monaco Grand Prix, something you’ve never done since you and Charles got together - not even when you were 8 months pregnant with twins did you miss the race. This was also the first time you were leaving the kids alone for so long with their dad.
Charles was their father, you knew they’d be taken care of and loved but it still irked you a bit. You had spent nights away before, never longer than one night away if you went out with friends or if you and Charles went away for a week, they'd stay with their grandmother. This was five whole days away from your babies.
You’d probably feel a bit better if it was Charles’ off weekend, knowing he'd be home but it was Monaco race weekend. There was no way in hell he’d miss that; though he suggested it and you yelled at him, asking if he was insane.
“Viens dire au revoir à maman,” (come say goodbye to mom) he calls for the children. He holds your bag when you bend down to hug the three of them, squeezing them tight.
You lean back, looking at them. “Je vous aime tellement, mes chéris. Sois gentil avec ton papa, d'accord?” (I love you so much, my darlings. Be good to your daddy, okay?)
You get back three yes mom and smiles. You give each of them a kiss on the cheek, the 3 of them standing beside their father when you get back up.
“You have everything you need? Passport, phone, wallet?” He rambles off and you nod, “everything’s here. You’re sure you’ll be fine-”
“Please,” he chuckles, “don’t worry. Go, before you miss your flight.” Charles smiles when you give him a kiss, your hand resting on his cheek. A choir of ew come from the little ones. You smile at them, bending down to give them a hug once more.
“I love you guys,” you tell them once more before you walk through the gate to the other side.
The four of them wave to you, smiling as you walk off.
“What shall we do tonight?” He asks the kids, Chris and Gabriel holding their sister’s hands, Eloise stood between the boys and he was right behind them, his hand on either of the boys’ shoulders to direct them to the car.
“Movies!” Chris shouts, Gabriel nods. “With lots of candy.” The older twin adds in.
“And and!” Eloise shouts, “pasta!”
Charles smiled at his children, laughing. “Okay, I'll make the pasta when we get home while you guys get cleaned up.”
“No,” Eloise whined, “I want it from the place.. the one you and mama go to.” She turns around to pout at her father and Charles is nothing if not a sucker for his baby girl.
“Fine,” he nods. “Don’t tell mama or she’ll get jealous.”
He managed to get all 3 of them into the car, calling to order before pulling out of the parking lot. Charles forgot how hard it was to take care of 3 kids by himself; he praised you for doing it for the last ten years on his weekends away.
All three kids accompanied him inside, seeing that they were too young to be  left in the car. It was fairly seamless, the girl at the counter seemed a bit starstruck when she realized it was him and not some rando off the street named Charles. He offered to sign something and take a quick photo with her, then they were on their way again.
Charles grew up in Monaco, almost everyone knows him as well as you and the kids. When it was just him, They’d stop him for photos and autographs. They still do it when he’s alone or if he’s with only you. When he’s with the kids, it’s a hello and a smile and they’re on their way.
It’s the one reason he’s yet to move away from Monaco; it was home and his home loved him and his family. He could never abandon that.
Once they got home, the kids settled and they all ate dinner on the couch. You wouldn’t approve of something as messy as pasta on the couch but life is too short - it’s just a couch; he’d tell you, giving you a kiss to distract you from the mess.
They watched 2 movies, Cars and Cars 2, about to move onto Cars 3 when Charles realized how late it was.
“Time for bed, kids.” He switches off the couch, getting up.
The three of them started their pouting and groaning, telling their father that they weren’t ready for bed. Charles shrugs. “That’s too bad, plus I'm sure you don’t give your mum such a hard time, do you?”
He could imagine the smug smile you’d have on your face if you heard him say that.
“Go on,” he nods towards the stairs, the kids huffing as they walk up the stairs.
He could hear Gabriel grumble something in Spanish; a language he picked up from you, you had taken it in school and developed a love for the language, food and the culture.
Once he finishes with the tidying up, he heads upstairs to check on them. He tucks in the boys first, kissing them goodnight. He then heads over to see Ellie, making sure she was okay before tucking her in.
He could hear his phone buzz while he was getting ready for bed, settling in before he checks to see who it is.
To Baby Daddy: Just got to my hotel, everything good at home?
New York was 6 hours behind Monaco so now that it was bedtime there, it was late afternoon there.
From Baby Daddy: Everything is fine. Kids are in bed, do you want to call ?
To Baby Daddy: It's okay, give them my love. I’m sure they’re on a sugar crash.
From Baby Daddy: How’d you know?
To Baby Daddy: Because they have you wrapped around their sticky fingers.
To Baby Daddy: Are you taking them to the track tomorrow ?
From Baby Daddy: No, mum will watch them tomorrow and Friday. I’ll take them on Saturday and Sunday.
To Baby Daddy: Okay. I have to get ready for this dinner. I love you guys, call me if anything.
From Baby Daddy: I will. We love you too.
At some point, he must have dozed off. He had to be at track a bit earlier than usual that way he wouldn’t have too much stuff to do on Saturday and Sunday prior to qualifying and the race, just so he doesn’t spend a lot of  time away from the kids.
He wasn’t sure what time it was when Eloise came into the bedroom, her stuffed elephant tucked under her arm - a gift from their uncle Lewis.
“Papa?” She calls quietly, tapping his back.
“Huh?” He mumbles, sitting up. Charles rubs his eyes with the back of his hands and he can make out the little figure standing by the bed. “What’s wrong, love bug?”
Her bottom lips quiver, like she was about to cry and he reaches over, picking her up and setting her on the bed next to him. “I miss mama.” Her big blue eyes were watery and Charles pulled her in for a hug.
“Me too, baby.”
“Can I stay with you?” She asks, already cuddling into her dad’s side. Charles’ arm is around the little girl, kissing her head. “Of course you can.”
-----
By the time Saturday rolls around, the kids are bouncing with excitement to go to the track with their dad.
They basked in the limelight but like their father, the 3 of them holding hands and Charles following behind them as they headed down to the Ferrari garage. Andrea was already at the track, waiting for them when they arrived. He was kneeling when they saw him, running away from their father to hug the man.
“Bambini! Mi siete mancati ragazzi!” (Kiddos! I missed you guys!) Andrea smiled, giving them a good squeeze.
Andrea had practically watched Charles grow up and to see him racing, at home, with his children; it made him emotional. He’d never admit that to Charles, but it did.
Charles pats the older man on the shoulder, all of them heading in. The kids had their spots in front of everyone else watching from the garage, giving them a good view of everything that was happening. They had come to races before, they knew they couldn’t run off nor are they allowed to run through the garage because there were wires and tools laying around. Hence why all the mechanics and crew stopped to chat with them as they went by.
The kids understood Italian, but they weren’t very good at speaking it as they were with English, French and Spanish but Charles taught them when he was home.
Charles had a few things to sort through so they hung out in the garage, he knew the crew would look after them and they knew enough to stay out of trouble.
He returns less than 20 minutes later, telling the kids it’s time for lunch before qualifying. He knows they’re gonna take a hot minute to get up and get going plus the girls in hospitality always spoil them. Today was no exception; there were colouring books, toys, sweets, shirts with their own names on it - different from the regular Leclerc ones they had on - as well as all their favourite food made just for them.
“Es quien creo que es?”(is that who I think it is?) The voice calls, causing the kids to turn in their seats. They’re all out of their seats when they see their dad’s teammate, their uncle Carlos.
"¡Mis amores! Hace mucho tiempo que no los veo. Han crecido tanto.” (My loves! I haven't seen you for a long time. You’ve grown so much.)
The 3 of them squished into a hug by the Spaniard. They were chatting with their uncle, telling him about the trip they recently took to Milan to see uncle Pierre during the off week. Pierre was moving from Milan to Monaco so he was hosting a bit of a final goodbye.
The two drivers and the children return to the garage where the guys get ready for the qualifying session. Christopher and Gabriel were fighting over who gets to sit in the very front seat with the direct view of the screen while Eloise had already settled in in the middle spot, letting her brothers battle it out over the stupidest thing.
“Fais moi un câlin,” (give me a hug,) Charles bends down, the 3 of them rushing over to hug their father.
A chorus of good luck followed behind before he let them return to their seats. Seeing that Andrea wouldn’t be needed to leave the garage, he’d be keeping an eye on the Leclerc children while their father was in the car.
The session went extremely well for Charles, getting pole position at home was a dream compared to the shitty results he usually had. Carlos ended up in P2, meaning it was a Ferrari 1-2 to start tomorrow.
The rest of the afternoon is taken up with press. The kids hung around the garage as their father finished up the last of the things he needed to that day.
As they were leaving, Christopher and Gabriel ran off towards the Alpine garage when they saw Anthony, he was running circles around his father, who was chatting with Esteban. Once the three of them got together, Christopher, Gabriel and Anthony were running through the now empty garage. The crew had thinned out, the cars off to the sides leaving the middle clear for them to run around.
Eloise was holding Charles’s hand as they walked over, smiling at the two men.
Esteban bends down to say hello, giving her a hug. “How are you, Belle?” He asks, smiling at her.
“Good! I got to sit in papa’s car!” She giggled, Esteban smiled. “That sounds like fun.”
Pierre picks her up from behind, spinning her around. “Hi pretty girl,” he put her up on his shoulders. Her hands rested on his head to steady herself. “Hi!” She smiled.
Eloise had always been Pierre’s favourite of Leclerc children.
He loved all 3 of them as his own but he always wanted a daughter, seeing that he had 2 boys. He loved Elly like his own, hence why he always jokes about Eloise dating one of his sons so he’d actually have her be part of the Gasly family; neither of the drivers could have imagined what would happen come 10 years from then.
The kids head out with their fathers, Charles and the kids go home while Pierre heads out with Anthony to get dinner. His wife would be joining them tomorrow as she was busy setting up the new house that afternoon.
His phone rang in his pocket the moment the kids ran through the front door. Charles shut the front door and reached for his phone, seeing that it was you  and it was a FaceTime call. “Hey,” he smiles when he picks up.
“Hi darling, how are you? How are the kids?”
“They’re good, I'm good. We just got in. Do you want to say hi?” He asks, already shouting for the kids to come back.
“Mama!” Christopher shouts as he comes running, his brother and sister right behind him. “Hi my loves, how are you? Did you have fun at the track?”
“We had so much fun!” Gabriel says, Eloise nods. “Daddy let me sit in the car!”
Christopher and Gabriel nod. “Us too! And we got shirts with our names!”
You smiled, “that sounds like so much fun.” The kids took the phone from their dad, sitting on the couch as they told you about their day at the track while Charles got stuff ready for the next day. “Alright, tell mama good night, we have an early day tomorrow.”
“I love you guys, be good for papa.” You blow them a kiss, letting them run off to get ready for bed when Charles takes back the phone. He’s now sitting on the couch, he looks exhausted and you feel a bit bad for leaving him this weekend.
“Pole position hm? What happened to me being your good luck charm?” You teased, earning a smile from your husband.
“Thought about you every second of every lap.” He smiled. “Well, that’s gotta be distracting.” You laughed, laying on your bed. “I miss you guys.”
“I miss you too.” He yawns. “What time are you on?”
“11:30 here, 5:30 there. But don’t even think about getting up. You have your race plus three kids to take care of. You need your sleep, Charles.”
“Oh full name,” there’s a slight smile on his face, “you’re so serious.”
“I am,” you smiled but you were serious. You knew your husband would go to the end of the earth for you but you also knew he needed to take better care of himself.
“I won’t get up.” He says, “I promise.” His finger makes a little X over his chest, right above his heart.
“Sleep well, okay? I'll be watching the race.”
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
The call ended and Charles headed up to tuck the kids into bed, making sure they were alright before taking a quick shower and getting into bed.
----
The noise woke him up, the phone was vibrating and Charles patted the bed until he found it. Lifting it, the alarm read 5:20am - just enough time for him to brush his teeth and head downstairs to watch you on SNL.
He switches on the tv, texting you right before you’re supposed to go on.
From Baby Daddy: Good luck, even though you don’t need it. I love you.
To Baby Daddy: I told you to sleep in. I love you.
Your opening monologue was beyond funny, and Charles was a little biased because you were his wife, but nonetheless, he was incredibly proud. He watched the entire thing even though he wouldn't typically watch SNL.
Charles doesn't wake the kids up until about 8am, letting them sleep in while he got breakfast and himself ready for the day.
His phone started ringing while the kids were sitting at the table, eating breakfast. “It’s mum,” he tells them, answering the call.
“Why didn’t you sleep in?” Was the first thing you asked him when he picked up the phone. “Hello to you too, love.” He laughed. “You were fantastic.”
“You think so?” You smiled, sitting on the edge of your bed. “So good,” he smiled before turning the phone to the kids sat at the table. You can hear him tell them to say good morning to you and there's a chorus of noise following his words.
“Are you all ready for the race?” You asked and the kids nod, their mouths and fingers covered in syrup. “Make sure you clean up before you leave home, okay?”
Charles lets them finish up breakfast while you two chat. It was 8:30 in the morning for them in Monaco and 2:30 in the morning for you in New York.
“I'm sorry I'm missing the race.” You sigh, glancing at your packed luggage in the corner of your room.
“Don’t even worry about it, one race is nothing.” He shrugs it off.
“When do you leave for track?”
“Maybe 40 minutes, gonna try and get in for 9:30 and let them settle in.”
“Okay, I'm gonna get some rest so I can get up to watch. I’ll call after the race and I'll see you guys in the morning, yeah?”
“Yeah, I love you.” Your husband smiled and even after 12 years of marriage, you still swooned over him like the first day.
“I love you.”
The phone’s left on the counter as he helps the kids clean up the syrup mess and get them ready to head out, making sure they have what they need. It's a short drive to the track but with all the traffic, it took double the time.
The kids were used to the chaos and while Christopher and Eloise were pretty laid back about it, Gabriel loved the attention and the photos, everyone calling his name. Christopher has never been too interested in the whole car business while Eloise always wanted to know how things worked, and even from a young age, she’d be looking around.
As they arrived to track, the kids spotted Daniel and Max on their way in.
“Uncle Danny!” The boys shouted, running to him. “Hey!” Daniel turns, a big grin on his face when he sees the Leclerc twins. He picks up the boys, slinging them over his shoulders as he walks down the paddock, the cameras around them flashes as they walk in.
Eloise was still holding Charles’ hand when they reached Max. The Dutchman bends down to say hello to the little girl, pulling her into a hug. Her little hand finds Max’s, he and Charles lifting and swinging her in between the two of them as they chatted.
“Maxie?” Eloise interrupted after looking around.
“Hm?”
“Where’s Ollie?”
The girl was expecting to see her friend, she knew Max and his family lived in Monaco, they had visited them a few times so she wasn’t sure why Oliver wasn’t there.
Max smiles, “he was still in bed when I left. He’s coming a bit later with his mum.”
“Okay,” she tells him, continuing on with her walk while he spoke to her father.
Chris and Gabriel were just a few feet away, still slung over Daniel’s shoulders, having the time of their lives. The boys loved when their parents take them to the Australian Grand Prix because of their uncle Daniel. He almost always took them to do cool stuff, whether it was dirt biking or mud wrestling. They had the most fun with him.
Being the child of a Formula One driver opened up all these doors for them and they hadn’t even begun to explore the half of it.
They had almost gotten to the Ferrari garage - it was Mercedes, RedBull and then Ferrari in that order. Eloise was the only one that seemed to notice the mess of blonde curls outside of the Mercedes garage.
Eloise shouted at the top of her lungs, “uncle Seb!”
The man turns and it was in fact, Sebastian. He’s now bent down, arms open for her when she lets go of her father and Max, running over to him. He holds her in a tight hug, giving her a kiss on the cheek.
“It’s so good to see you,” he tells the girl.
Charles and Max go over to say hello, Max making brief conversation before heading over to his own garage. Daniel brings the boys back over, saying hello to Seb and chatting for a minute before joining Max at RedBull.
Eloise is standing between Charles and Sebastian, Christopher and Gabriel to the other side of their father.
“I didn’t know you were coming,” Charles turns to the German, finally speaking.
“Neither did I,” Sebastian chuckles. “It was a last minute decision. The kids are with my parents and we had a week to ourselves. Hanna suggested we come since we were already here.”
The Ferrari driver looks around, “where is Hanna?”
Seb nods towards the garage, “she's with Mick.”
Charles glances into the Mercedes garage to see Hanna talking to Susie and Mick, the 3 of them chatting away about something. Mick had been with Mercedes for the last 4 seasons as full time driver alongside Lewis.
“We’ve gotta get going, it was nice to see you, Seb.” Charles tells him, about to usher the kids off towards Ferrari.
“No,” Eloise grabs Seb’s hand. “Can I stay with uncle Seb? Please?” She pouts at her father. Both men know she’s gonna get what she wants.
She’s got Charles wrapped around her finger.
He sighs, “I’m sure Seb is busy.”
Seb shakes his head, leaning to pick up the girl. “I’m not, plus Hanna would be happy to see her. Go on, we’ll look after her.” He tells him.
Charles’s brows furrow. “You’re sure?”
“100% - Now go on.” Seb tells him, taking her into the Mercedes garage with him.
“Looks like it's just us, boys.” His hands on each of the boys’ shoulders, the 3 of them heading to the Ferrari garage.
Charles lets the boys settle in, the 3 of them hanging out for a bit before he heads to get ready for the race. Andrea was in the driver’s room with Charles and the boys didn’t want to go so Rupert offered to keep an eye on them. Carlos was already ready and speaking to his dad so he had some free time.
Now the Leclerc twins were trouble on their own but with Rupert? Even more so.
Charles had left his racing boots in the garage and Gabriel found a roll of tape. You can figure out what went through his head.
Rupert was blocking the two of them from the crew while Christopher and Gabriel wrapped up their father’s boots with tape. They managed to get back into their seats just before Charles came back out, smiling at them.
“Gonna go check on your sister. Stay out of trouble, okay?” He says and they nod, creepily in sync.
He’s got his sneakers on so he’s yet to see the taped up boots in the corner and when he leaves, Rupert turns to the boys, giving them a high five. “You two are trouble,” the ginger laughs.
Sebastian sees Charles outside the garage, looking for Eloise. He leads her through the busy garage to the front to see her dad.
“Outfit change?” Charles asked the girl, crouching down to talk to her.
She’s got on a black hoodie with a Mercedes logo that’s much too big for her but it looks to be the smallest they had in adult sizes. “Yeah! Toto gave me a sweater! And auntie Hanna said I can come visit anytime I want. Oh! And I can sit beside Uncle Seb and I get my own headphones to watch from the screens! Like the boss!”
“Is that right?” He asked the girl, smiling and she nodded. “It’s time to come back though, your brothers miss you.”
“Boo!” She huffed, “can I stay ? Pleaseeeeee.” She looked at Seb and then her father, batting her lashes as she looked up at him with her big blue eyes; he was a sucker for his baby girl.
Sebastian was also her favourite uncle - it was obvious which parent she took that from; cough cough, you.
“Is it okay for her to stay? Toto won’t mind?” Charles asked Seb.
He shook his head. “It’s fine, Toto’s been showing her around since she got here. Even offered her a job when she finishes school.” He laughed
“Be good and behave. Okay?” He hugs her and she kisses his cheek. “Thank you papa! I hope you win!” She gives him a hug, Charles smiling at his daughter as she walks off with Seb back into the garage.
At that point, he can see Lewis pick her up, the little girl listening intently to whatever he was telling her.
Charles returns to Ferrari to get the last of his things, see the boys and head out to the grid.
He knew he left his racing boots in the garage but he was shocked to see them wrapped up in tape. None of the mechanics are paying any attention to him and if they did it, they’d check for a reaction. This had to be someone else. He looks around and sees Rupert glancing at him and then looking away, followed by a few hushed giggles.
“Which one of them did this?” Charles asked the ginger and Rupert turns, feigning a look of innocence. “Who did what?” He looks confused.
Charles shows him the boots and Rupert shrugs. “No idea,” he smiles, turning back to the boys who were giggling.
He shook his head, a smile on his face. He undoes the tape and puts them on, fixing his race suit and getting his helmet. He sits beside the boys for a minute. “Your sister is staying with Seb for the race so you two are gonna be here. You know Andrea has to come with me to the grid and then he’ll be back here with you guys. You stay here and stay out of trouble for the next 10 minutes okay?”
They nod, “okay dad.” Gabriel says, the two boys hugging their father.
Charles gets himself ready, doing a last minute check before heading to the grid. The mechanics that were left in the garage kept an eye on the boys until Andrea returned.
The twins counted down; 3, 2, 1, lights out.
-----
The time change was brutal. After you got off the phone with Charles, you glanced at the time; 2:45am. You needed to get to the airport by 4am which means you could get an hour of sleep if you really tried.
There was no point, the one hour of sleep will just make you feel worse. So instead you take a shower and head to the airport early.
You had told Charles that you were sorry for missing his race, but what he doesn't know is that you you reschedule your flight that was arriving in Monday in exchange for a flight that was leaving Sunday so you could be back in time for the end of the race. It was a 5am flight out of New York, a 9 hour journey, which meant you arrived in Monaco at 2:30; bringing you to half an hour after the race start. The half an hour of airport security and clearance as well as a 30 minute drive from Nice to Monaco brought you to 3:30.
There was maybe 15 minutes left in the race, you could hear the buzzing of the engines and the high pitched zoom that sounded when they passed by. You were running through the paddock, it was basically empty with a few people lingering around but you managed to find the Ferrari garage.
The giant red building along with the smell of gasoline and burnt rubber welcomed you like an old friend and suddenly, despite your rush, you felt you were home.
Andrea spots you coming through the back, smiling at you before telling the boys to turn around for a second. The moment the boys saw you, they were out of their sears, running to hug you.
“Hi my loves,” you squeezed them tight, “how are you? Where’s your sister?”
“Good!” Gabriel smiles, “she’s with uncle Seb and auntie Hanna.” Christopher tells you, holding your hand as you lead them back to their seats.
You give Andrea a quick hug, settling in next to your boys. It was lap 57 of 64 and things were winding down. Checo was in the lead, Carlos in second with Max behind him and Charles behind Max. From your understanding, they fucked up a pit stop which caused Charles to slip into P4; he’s gonna be pissed but you know him well enough to know he’d hold himself together for now.
The cars were crossing the checkered flag, and Andrea was heading down to parc ferme. You told him to take the boys with him because Charles doesn't know you're here and he'll be wondering where the boys are. You were going to get Eloise from Sebastian in the meantime, Christopher had told you she was at Mercedes.
You head out the front of the garage this time, walking a few feet down to the silver garage to find your daughter. The mechanics let you in and the girl was sitting between Toto and Seb, the big headphones over her ears as she watched the screens.
“How is it everywhere you go, you always get the best seat?” You asked, she looked over when she heard your voice.
“Mama!” She smiled, unable to get off her chair fast enough. You smile, hugging the girl. “How are you, baby?”
“Good! I have a job!” She told you excitedly and you laughed, “you do?”
Eloise nods, “Toto said I can work here!” She glances at the man who was looking at her now. Toto smiles, nodding. “She’s actually really good, y/n. Picked up on the details like a champ.”
You’re certain Toto gave her a less complicated version of the stats but you were glad to hear she was enjoying learning about it. “Looks like we have a future Merc engineer.” You smiled.
Seb laughed, “don’t tell her father that, he’d have a heart attack.”
“I know,” you joined in laughing. “If you and Hanna aren’t doing anything tonight, you guys should come over for dinner.”
“I’ll ask her if we have plans, but I’ll let you know.” He smiled. Eloise says bye to him and Toto before returning to Ferrari with you.
You let her sit where her brothers had previously sat, and you turned around to talk to one of the mechanics when Charles walked into the garage. He doesn't miss the fact that his little girl had returned to the Ferrari garage, and was sitting alone.
“Love bug? What are you doing alone?” He asked, Christoper and Gabriel were bickering with Andrea about something as they followed behind.
She ran over to give him a hug. “You did good today, papa!”
“Thank you, baby.” He kissed her head.
Charles was so wrapped up with his children. He didn't even seem to notice that he returned back to look at them. “I think you did well, too.” Your voice startles him. He looked up to see who was speaking and to make sure that he wasn't hallucinating.
“Y/n? What are you doing here? I thought you got back tomorrow.”
He's already pulling you in for a hug in your arms wrapped around him, holding your husband close. You can feel the tackiness of his skin and how he reeks of burnt rubber and gasoline and sweat.
You rest a hand on his jaw, “you thought I'd miss your home race?”
Charles smiles, “I'm glad you’re here.” He pulls you in for a kiss, receiving a chorus of ew from the children who were then pulled into a hug.
Things felt at ease; the cars were back in the garage, Carlos had already received his trophy, they just took the team photo and finished the press. The kids were currently at hospitality with Carlos’s dad who was more than happy to take them for a few minutes so you can have a moment alone with your husband.
He was packing up his things from his driver’s room when you walked in. “I know P4 isn’t the ideal finish, but if it's worth anything; I’m proud of you.” You tell him, walking over to him.
Charles’s hand rests on your hip when you reach him. “It’s worth everything,” he smiles, kissing you once more before you two go find the children.
---
On your way out, you find Seb and Hanna who were on their way to find you as well.
“Still good for dinner?” Sebastian asks you and you nod, “of course, we’d love to have you over.” You smiled.
The kids insist on heading back to the house with their uncle Seb and auntie Hanna, seeing that uncle Seb always tells them funny stories about when he was racing and from when he was teammates with their dad.
You and Charles let them go, Hanna insisted on you letting them come with them because she missed having little ones around now that their kids have grown up.
Seb said they were gonna drop in at Aston and then head out but after they’ve walked off a bit with the kids, Charles pulls you into his side. “I didn’t know we were having them over.”
“Hush,” you put a finger over his lips. “They’re practically family. Plus, you know how good they were to us when I was pregnant with the boys.”
“I know.” He nods, about to kiss you when you hear another set of ew from behind you. It was Pierre with Anthony and his wife. “Shut up,” you smacked Pierre’s arm lightly, laughing.
“Hi auntie y/n!” Anthony smiled at you, his blue eyes identical to his fathers. You  pinched his chubby cheek, “hi bubba, how are you?”
“Good!” He grabbed your hand, “my new room is so cool! Can Gabe and Chris come over to play one day?”
“As long as it’s okay with your parents, they definitely can.”
“Why are we all bunched up? Sharing secrets?” Max joked as he walked up to the group with Oliver, his wife and Daniel.
“No more than RedBull does,” Pierre let slip, his wife smacking his arm which earned a giggle from Anthony.
Oliver lets go of his father’s hand, coming over to talk to Anthony, the two of them whispering when you bend down to speak to them. You were still crouched behind them when they turned to speak to their parents.
“Dad?” Oliver calls and Max stops bickering with Pierre to look over at the boy. Anthony speaks up next, “can we go to uncle Charles’ place for dinner?”
Max and Pierre exchange a look, you peek out from behind the boys with a smile on your face.
Pierre nods, “that’s fine.” Max agrees, “yeah, as long as it’s okay with your mum.” Max’s wife agrees, saying it’d be nice for everyone to get together.
Everyone decided to head out together, you told Charles to text Carlos and let him know to come over if he didn’t have plans. You met up with Seb, Hanna and the kids in the parking lot. Everyone settled into their respective cars and headed out towards the Leclerc household.
Upon arriving, the house descends into madness.
Eloise and Oliver are in the corner, the two of them building something with her brother’s legos and the three other boys are play fighting on the floor.
There’s a knock on the door and you tell Charles you’ve got it, and to go help Seb with the bbq outside. You walk over to open the door, finding your husband’s teammate on the other side.
“Carlos,” you smiled, the Spaniard hugging you. “Hey, I hope you don’t mind I brought company,” he nods towards his father, Rupert and Caco who were coming from the car at the moment.
His wife was pregnant with baby number 3 at the moment and was at home with Sofia and her little sister. She was due soon so it was much too late into the pregnancy for her to fly and Carlos didn’t want to leave her alone or take the girls from her so his mum stayed with them for the weekend.
“The more, the merrier.” You smiled, about to let them in when a loud crash comes from the living room. You tell Carlos to just shut the door when they come in and rush off to check what the noise was.
“It was Gabriel!” Chris shouts when he sees you, the large photo frame that had a photo of you and Charles from his first championship win was shattered on the floor.
You sigh, shooing the kids away from the broken glass. “It's okay, it’s just the frame. Are any of you cut?” You asked, looking them over. All 5 of them managed to come away uninjured. “Okay, how about you play in the backyard? You can use the trampoline until dinner.” You usher them to the other end of the living room and out the back doors.
“Everything okay in here?” Hanna comes to find you after she sees the kids run out. “Yeah,” you fish the photo out from the broken glass. “Just a broken frame.”
“Need help cleaning?” She offered and you shook your head, “I got it.” You smile, you can see the crazy amount of smoke coming from the bbq outside and you can also see both Carlos and Carlos Sr as well as Seb trying to fan it away.
“I think you should check on that, though.” You nod towards the back door and Hanna follows your gesture and nods, “yeah,” she chuckles, walking off.
As you were about to get the broom from the kitchen, the doorbell rang again. You make your way over to find Mick at the door this time, Lewis behind him.
“Hey,” you smiled.
“Seb texted, said everyone was here. Hope you don’t mind.”
“Please,” you step aside to let them in, “you two know you can drop by anytime.”
Lewis holds up the bottle, “got the good stuff,” he shows you the bottle of the wine. “If I wasn’t already married, I'd marry you.” You pat his cheek, making him laugh.
The two of them come in and you decide to just leave the mess for later. Everyone was scattered from the kitchen and into the backyard, the big doors wide open.
You can see the kids bouncing on the trampoline with Daniel and Lewis was on his way to join them in there, the two adults chatting but also supervising the kids to make sure there are no ER trips tonight.
Seb, Max and his wife were having a chat about something while seated at the picnic table you had out there.
Max’s wife had taken over prep inside, (she was a chef, you couldn’t blame her) Mick had joined her to help with the prep.
Andrea, Rupert and Caco were on some chat about god knows what, it looked like a debate about something Ferrari related.
Hanna and Pierre’s wife were sitting with Carlos Sr. The bottle of wine that Lewis brought was opened as they laughed about something.
Carlos had taken over the barbecuing duties from Seb - he, Pierre and Charles were all sipping on a beer. Your husband sees you from inside, beckoning you outside and you join them, your arms around him as you join in on the conversation they were having.
10 years ago on a night just like this one, all of you were in Monaco and were partying Sunday night away into Monday morning, planning to meet for a very hungover dinner later that night. Now you were all settled, at peace, happy, married with kids.
Who would have thought how much times would change?
But alas, that’s life. Life worked in mysterious ways but you were beyond happy and at ease with your life.
It couldn’t be a better end to the weekend in Monaco.
